Bo Knows Bo Cultural Differences
There are many similarities and differences between cultures, but I am comparing my culture and the
culture in the book Bo Knows Bo . I am a white Male that was born in the state of South Dakota. I was
born into a privileged life with a future ahead of me. Bo is a black male that was born in Bessemer
Alabama; however, he was not born into a privileged family. Nobody knew if Bo would have a future,
or if he was going to be alive at the age of twenty. Bo did not always have food on the table because
his family struggled to make ends meet. The environment that Bo grew up in made him a troublesome
kid. Everyday Bo would threaten kids and hurt kids because they did not do what he wanted them to,
and that is because of the environment he had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote says that it should be a requirement for athletes to give back and help the community
where they came from. I think that this is similar in both my culture and the culture in the book
because most people want and need to help out and give back. I often hear how athletes are going to
hospitals and making kids smile. I also hear how they are donating money for the community. J.J Watt,
an athlete of my culture, raised thirty seven million dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief. James Harden,
an athlete of the culture described in the book, donated one million dollars to helpful Hurricane
Harvey Relief. Athletes in both cultures give back, so shouldn t it be an expectation for every athlete
to give back. They have already succeeded, so they should try to make their communities better to
give others a better chance to make the world a better

The Influence of American Culture in the 1950s and 1960s...
Canada as a nation has been striving to characterize itself as more ?Canadian? for decades. This has
included numerous struggles and events such as protests, bans, and the creation of the Massey
Commission, to encourage national development in the arts, and support major companies like the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and National Film Board (NFB). However, this has not
been an easy task for the Canadian government, as major influences from below the border (the
United States) have been captivating the Canadian audiences by large. American media has had a
momentous revolutionizing effect on Canada, even through efforts made to define Canada with its
own cultural identity.
Pop culture in the 1950s and 1960s began to spread and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media began to control the way they lived their lives, what they wore, what they listened to, and
even what they believed. After all, everyone wants to roll with the popular crowd.
The Canadian government could not possibly stand for further American conquest on their culture and
media. It was time to stop the inundation of Americanization before they had lost all original material
and their identity had vanished into the shadows of Canadian history. A suitable action was taken by
the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), stripping as much American content from the station
as possible, leaving only what was necessary to satisfy the popular demand (removing all American
substance had its consequences, severe as losing money and audiences, and ensuing in the downfall of
the broadcasting industry due to the lack of well known content). This would leave space for more
Canadian programming, as a result fulfilling the promise of making Canada more Canadian, taking
into consideration even such a small modification.
The Canadian government?s plan to get rid of the great American culture influence was one of many
faults. There would be no way of carrying this out without disappointing much of the un disturbed
Canadian society, those who have grown comfortable with their surroundings and are appreciative of
everything the United States has had to

The Problem Of An Internal Malfunction Within A Computer
Abstract
Overheating is a symptom of an internal malfunction within a computer. Although, computer
manufacturer s created the computer as new working condition, they still fall short. God also created
mankind in a good order, however, they too fell short. Computer overheating symptoms may include
the actual power supply, computer overloading, fan failure, inadequate ventilation outside or around
the computer system, inadequate ventilation inside the computer system, and even dirt and dust. By
diagnosing the cause of overheating you can correct the problem and get your computer back up to a
normal operational use. In the same way, sin comes in many forms and the correct solution to the
problem of mankind is the Gospel of Christ.

Critical Analysis Of Eric Schlosser s Your Trusted Friends
Oftentimes, writers of argumentative essays will explicitly state their claim, establishing a position on
a topic in a clear and concise manner. In doing so, writers arguments are essentially more effective in
representing the chosen subject matter. In Your Trusted Friends , investigative journalist Eric
Schlosser writes that Walt Disney and Ray Kroc perfected the art of selling to children, however, this
writing is laced with numerous, hidden, implications. Schlosser s work subconsciously suggests that
companies like Disney and McDonald s prey on children in order to gain profit. This, therefore, makes
his argument weak overall, since instead of blatantly expressing his opinion, he leaves his audience to
guess about the overall purpose of the piece.
Throughout the writing, Schlosser provides historical and statistical information about both the
businessmen, Disney and Kroc, and their individual companies. In the third paragraph, he writes about
the shared experiences between the men, from growing up in the same hometown to serving in in the
same World War I ambulance corps (Schlosser 184). He then lists examples of how the men s failures
in their humble beginnings eventually led to success. Schlosser writes that the men, for example,
focused more on strengthening their marketing strategies and standing in as authority figures instead
of wasting time on attempts to add new dishes to the McDonald s menu or trying to write and animate
Disney cartoons (Schlosser 184). In

Analysis Of Beauty Of A Dancer By Alice Walker
Perception Of a trait
The essay Beauty of a dancer by Alice Walker describes a powerful event that happens in her life
when she was a chaild that changed her. She is young bright girl who is at the top of her class and is
the little spark in her family. She is the beautiful girl and she knows it. One accident changes all that
and the way she feels about herself for the majority of her life. Her brother owns a new toy Pellet gun
rifle. As they were playing outside she was shot in her eye. The wound left her slightly blind and a
noticeable scare on her eye. She no longer felt beautiful because of the scar and how people treated
her after. It had a significant effect on her actions. Alice Walker does not see the pretty girl in the ...

Streptococcus pneumoniae Is a Gram positive bacterium in the shape of a slightly pointed cocci. They
are usually found in pairs as diplococci. Streptococcus pneumoniae are alpha hemolytic bacterium.
Streptococcus pneumoniae have a polysaccharide capsule that acts as a virulence factor for the
organism; along with surface proteins that prevent the activation of complement pathways, and pili
that enable S. pneumoniae to attach to epithelial cells in the upper respiratory tract. Streptococcus
pneumoniae lacks catalase and ferments glucose to lactic acid, like most other streptococci. However,
unlike most other streptococci, it does not display an M protein and it hydrolyzes insulin, which help
distinguish it from other streptococci. Streptococcus pneumoniae is the most common cause of
meningitis in adults and young adults throughout the world and is best known for causing pneumonia

In order to understand the introduction and implementation of Bolsa Familia in Brazil, it is important
to remember that Brazil has experience Inequality and poverty for decades. Even so, that in the second
half of the 20th century, Brazil became one of the most unequal countries in the world where the
poorest 60 % of the population had only 4 % of the wealth, while the richest 20 % held 58 % of the

attendance in Brasilia and Campinas, by 1995. These programs provided cash payments to poor

Health and Health Care Disparities: The Effect of Social and Environmental Factors on Individual and
Population Health.
Recently the existence and prevalence of health and health care disparities has increased with
accompanying research showing that minorities (African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native
Americans, and Pacific Islanders) are disproportionately affected resulting in poorer health outcomes
compared to non minority populations (whites). To this degree is due to numerous issues including
and most importantly the social determinants of health which includes lower levels of education,
overall lower socioeconomic status, inadequate and unsafe housing, and living in close proximity to
environmental hazards; all contributing to poor health. Given the ever widening gap in health and
health care disparities, the growing number of individuals living at or below the poverty level, the low
number of college graduates and the growing shortage of health care professionals (especially
minority) the goals of this paper are to: (1) Define diversity and inclusion as interdependent entities.
(2) Review the health care

A Christian At The Age Of 14
Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at the age
of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made me
very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a series of random
accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and trusted Christ
as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific
evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false. I worked for 35 plus years
as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research hydrologist studying
the quantity and quality of river water. I later moved into water science management positions and
lastly served as an executive responsible for the all the surface water related activities of the USGS in
the U.S.A. As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware River Master. As River Master, I
administered the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court Decree allocating the waters of the
Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with a wealth of education and experience
in all aspects fresh water related science and science management. During my career with the USGS, I
authored or co authored about 40 scientific and lay reader reports, proceedings paper, and abstracts.

The Importance Of Prevention And Improvement Interventions
There are numerous current prevention and improvement initiatives taking place in the health care
system to reduce the occurrence of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Some of the
most prominent interventions are to decrease the number of catheters being inserted and removing the
catheters as quickly as possible. Stamford Hospital located in Connecticut, USA, implemented a
CAUTI reduction project after noticing that education based approaches and handwashing efforts had
not decreased the incidence of CAUTIs. They implemented a nurse s checklist for the justified use of
catheters and timely removal of urinary catheters. They also added a specific catheter charting module
in the electronic health record, and held biweekly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past, Foley catheters remained in place, and the need to continue them was not addressed on a
daily basis. But, with education and research this has changed. Education sessions offered in hospital
settings and huddles, for example, are perfect opportunities for the nurses to identify patients with a
Foley catheter on the unit and review strategies for decreasing infections (Clayton, 2017). Knowing
when catheters are being useful and when they are becoming an issue and causing a problem is the
key to identifying CAUTI s. Preventing CAUTI s begins with avoiding unnecessary use of urinary
catheters, developing policies for insertion and maintenance of catheters, selecting the appropriate
catheter, and instituting surveillance of CAUTIs and catheter use. Protocols to eliminate CAUTI s will
decrease their incidence and ensure better quality care (Clayton, 2017). This research found that out of
517 hospitals, 56% of them did not have a system to keep track of catheterized patients (Clayton,
2017). It was also found that 74% of the hospitals did not keep proper records of how long an
indwelling catheter has been in a patient (Clayton, 2017). These flawed systems can be costly to
patient safety and quality of care.
Improper education for health care workers is dangerous for patient care. The next study focused on
working with educators to make sure nurses were properly educated on the proper care of urinary

The Global Challenge
The Global Challenge Topic 2
Every city that has hosted an Olympics, Commonwealth Games or World Cup event has seen some
social unrest about the negative impact of the event on local people. Choose a recent Games event
host city and research the debate about the impact of that event on the city and its people. Critically
discuss, i relation to relevant literature, the negative impacts the Games events have on a city and what
gives rise to these impaction the basis of evidence that you have gathered and the literature on social
struggles against games events, comment on whether you think local opposition to these events is
warranted.
Events such as the Commonwealth games in Glasgow are more about the state gaining land and
improving the cities international image than helping the local community (Glasgow Games Monitor,
2011). The Glasgow state used the global legacy, support and exceptionality of the games to justify the
transformation of culture and the exploitation of the lower classes. They did this through neoliberal
based policy, violence and the manipulation of consumerism. This resulted in the working class of
Glasgow falling victim to exclusionary displacement, economic vulnerability and helplessness. The
impacts of the commonwealth games improved the international image of Glasgow and the benefits
accumulated with the state and the richer citizens, whilst the poor were left displaced and unsuccessful
citizens (Paton, 2012).
Displacement was a negative

Star Wars Argumentative Essay
Under normal circumstances, when a fairly large franchise film is coming out, you could be forgiven
for forgetting about the accompanying video game that inevitably comes along with it. Ranging from
painful cash grabs to satisfying tie ins, film inspired games usually appear the afterthought of the
Hollywood marketing process. But Star Wars: the Force Awakens isn t a fairly large franchise film,
and these are by no means normal circumstances.
A little under a month ahead of what could quite possibly be the biggest cinematic release of all time,
we fans have not just a shameless tie in but a fully fledged reboot of one of the most loved franchises
in Star Wars enormous gaming catalogue. And while that may be as much a result of rose tinted
nostalgia and remarkably consistent marketing of Disney as it is anything else, EA DICE s Star Wars
Battlefront has quite some expectations to meet now it s finally here.
As you more than likely know by now, Star Wars Battlefront is an entirely multiplayer focused game.
Players are given the choice between the Multiplayer modes and Battlefront s Missions mode, but the
emphasis is placed heavily on the former. Within Multiplayer, there are nine other modes to choose
from, varying between the large scale, frenetic 40 player battles of Walker Assault and Supremacy, and
the more intimate, small sided modes like Droid Run and Hero Hunt.

Streetcar Named Desire Foil
A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams is a strategically written masterpiece with a plethora
of themes and literary devices establishing it as one of the greatest literary works of its time. Not
unlike most literary works, Williams uses many minor characters to emphasize the characteristics and
qualities of major characters. This technique is known as a foil. An example of this relationship would
be Stanley, husband of Stella, and Steve, husband of Eunice. These two couples live in a small
apartment with almost no privacy from one another. Stanley and Steve share many characteristics;
both are brash, impulsive, blunt, and abusive in their own right. Additionally, both men often tend to

Nineteenth Century Short Stories and the Gothic Genre Essay
Nineteenth Century Short Stories and the Gothic Genre The three short stories that I have chosen to
compare and contrast are: The Signalman by Charles Dickens, An Arrest by Ambrose Bearcy and
Napoleon and the Spectre by Charlotte Brontë. All these stories were completed by the mid to late
eighteenth hundreds. The Signalman is set by a railway in Britain, along a lonely stretch of a railway
line in a steep cutting. An Arrest is set in America and for the most part in a forest. Napoleon and the
Spectre is set in Paris. Gothic genre was one of the leading and most used genres of the nineteenth
century and this genre is very prevalent in all three of the stories that I have chosen. The gothic genre

The darkness also gives a sense of mystery to the author s writing. In the glow of an angry sunset, the
stranger re visits the line to see the signalman. The word angry is far from comfortable or romantic.
This line also gives an eerie feel to the fading light and gives a feel that suggests that something is
must and is about to happen that is dark and evil. An Arrest by Ambrose Bearcy is a story of a
murderer who was awaiting his trial, escaped by knocking down his jailer with an iron bar, and went
into the forest. It was night and the forest in to which, he entered was renowned for being wild and
unsafe. He goes for many a mile and some how manages to exit the forest and finds an old road and
on the road there stood the figure of a man, motionless in the gloom. The gothic style protrudes from
this line of the novel very clearly and adds to the sense of suspense and fear that is plaguing this scene.
The fugitive is almost face to face with the figure of a man, and feels he cannot turn his back for fear
of being filled with buckshot, so he stood there like a tree. The fugitive is hoping that if he stands still
enough he will become a tree and escape this horror. Until the moon sailed into a patch of unclouded
sky, the haunted man saw the visible embodiment of law lift an arm and point significantly beyond
him. At which he

Why Mexico And Not Canada
How do people feel when something completely biased is not in their favor? When people are
specifically targeted against for doing nothing wrong, is a horrible feeling. This is what happens every
day to Mexicans. Mexicans are practically hated if they try to come in our country compared to the
Canadians we enjoy having. People are shocked with the eye opening question, why Mexico and not
Canada . This is not because Mexicans are any worse but because there is a stereotype problem. . . .
This is a major problem buried in our country about the unjust discrepancy between the acceptance of
Mexican and Canadian Immigrants. . . This discrepancy is a biased view about what immigrants can
come into the U.S. It is huge problem how blatant racism in America is (insert ). . . News stories flash
about more border patrol agents going to protect our Mexican American border are on all of the time.
People receive a false feeling that Mexican immigrants are horrible. On the other side, we hear little
about our neighbor north of us. There is no focus on them because the U.S already feels the only
problem is Mexico. This places judgment about not being as good as the Canadians. This because a
problem of fairness; it is unfair. Mexicans are blamed for the bulk of why U.S. has immigration
problems. A study at the Migration Policy Institute shows immigrants are 13 percent of the American
population (INSERT ). Of this, less than two percent is made up of Hispanics. I conducted my own

Entrance examinations
The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is an annual college entrance
examination in India, used as the sole admission criterion by the IITs. The examination is organised
each year by one of the various IITs, using a round robin rotation pattern. It has a very low admission
rate (about 1 in 50 in 2011). A proposal for replacing (IIT JEE) with a common engineering entrance
examination was made in 2010 and but due to resistance from many IIT s this proposel is still under
consideration. For Post Graduate studies, the entrance is conducted on the basis of the Gate score card
which is organised by IISC, Bangalore and IIT s followed by written tests and interviews by the
respective IIT s.

Theme Of Racism In The Room
A form of cultural violence is racism which can be seen in the play The Room. In the play The Room,
Pinter does not explicitly deal with racism, but he does insinuate the prejudice that the locals practised
against the immigrants and the hatred, suspicion and distrust that they attached to all foreigners. An
example of racism is Bert s instant reaction on seeing the blind negro, Riley. On seeing the black
stranger, Bert is so furious that he indulges in direct physical violence and beats him cruelly till he
dies. Another instance of racism can be seen in the play The Caretaker. Davis in the play is suspicious
of the immigrants or foreigners in Britain and he feels that they give themselves the airs that they are
better than him. Throughout the play he refers to them in vilifying ways which reveals his racist
attitude towards them.
All them Greeks had it, Poles, Greeks, Blacks, the lot of them, all them aliens had it...And they had me
working there... Davies, 6
Through Davies fear and suspicion, Pinter tries to express the fear of the lower class whites of Britain
in the Fifties, regarding their position, rights and employment opportunities being usurped by the
foreigners. A form of cultural violence is dominant patriarchal ideology which has its foundation in
family. Family not only acts as a site for the transmission of patriarchal ideology but also reproduces
this ideology. Kate Millet in her book Sexual Politics claims: patriarchy s chief institution is the

Examples Of Explosionade In To Kill A Mockingbird
While the rest of his friends are busy storming a Horronym fortress in a final assault, first lieutenant
Terry Atticus finds himself all alone back at the base. Apparently his superior didn t take too kindly to
some pipes in the officer s latrine that were accidently reversed by Atticus and thus the hapless
lieutenant is missing out on the biggest battle of all time. However, while rooting around in the supply
room Atticus discovers a prototype mech which he promptly takes into the sewers for some target
practice. Instead of finding the snakebats he was expecting, Atticus discovers a whole bunch of aliens
and takes it upon himself to take them all out.

Killing everything that moves and collecting all the gold is not only more satisfying, but also results in
a better score. For some extra motivation this Steam version of the game also comes with new
leaderboards. In addition to being able to jump and hover for a short period of time your mech also
comes with a handy multi purpose shield. The shield makes you impervious to enemy fire and you can
even bounce enemy grenades off it with good timing. In addition, you can activate your shield just
before hitting the floor or a wall after jumping to perform a nifty shield bounce in order to reach
greater heights. However, the shield overheats very quickly and must recharge between uses.
Although Explosionade is an action packed title it comes with multiple difficulty settings to ensure
players of all skill levels have a fair shot at completing it. Just like the arcade games of old it is
possible to finish all the levels in a very short period of time, but the real challenge comes from
upping the difficulty and increasing the gameplay speed while aiming for a high score. Players who
enjoy beating their own scores or competing with others on the leaderboards will find that
Explosionade has a lot of replay value. The game also features a co op mode, which is a lot of

Notes On Credit Rating Agencies
Literature review:
Dror Pranes (2008) said that the participants of the market have a divergent expectation. But they can
be classified as optimistic or pessimistic based on set of knowledge. He also argues that the credit
rating announcement does not give any undisclosed information to the investors or the market. It only
attempts to homogenize the investor s belief.
According to Adelson (2012) credit rating plays a vital role in providing an independent opinion about
the creditworthiness of the issuer and bridging the gap between lenders and borrowers. Lazarescu
(2003) says standardising the value judgement in relation to borrowers in the current scenario of
globalisation is contributed by credit rating agency.
De Haan and Amtenbrink(2011) argued that there are flaws in the use of credit rating agencies
judgement in regulation and accounting. The agencies have a substantial impact on the bonds and their
interest. But when the bond is downgraded it is harmful. There will be herd behaviour among
investors trying to liquidate investment. Additionally Mathis (2009) said that the construction of issuer
pays is a critical problem which may result in conflict of interest. This will make the issuers to shop
the ratings. They will go for the rating agency that provides the most favourable rating.
Journal of common market studies (2012) explains that the rating agencies suffer from shortcomings.
The rating agencies maintain transparency about the data sources and the indicators.

Pro Cloning Research Paper
Why should society allow clones to be made; how could they even benefit society? Cloning is the
process of making an exact copy of a plant or animal. Being able to clone organisms can benefit
society and living organisms. Some people question cloning and have concerns over the ethics of it;
they wonder if we would be playing God by making clones. Cloning should be legal because of the
beneficial opportunities it could present regarding to health, animals, and agriculture. One of the
reasons cloning should be legal is because of the health benefits of cloning. Cloning could eliminate
infertility in men and women. Human reproductive cloning could allow couples with infertility
problems to have a child of their own. If the man is the infertile one he can have his sperm cloned and
use the fertile cloned sperm, and likewise if the woman is the infertile one she can have her eggs
cloned and use the fertile cloned eggs. By cloning human reproduction, some say the resulted child
could be deprived of their uniqueness because they are made in a lab. Regardless of where the child is
made, it will still be the couple s child made from their own DNA just like every other child. Cloning
has many health benefits, such as helping infertile couples have ... Show more content on

Cloning could prevent an animal from going extinct. When a species is endangered, scientists can
make clones of them to prevent extinction. Some point out that when cloning animals, the animals
have more deformities at birth, and are more likely to die. Both cloned and non cloned animals can
have deformities or die at birth regardless if they are cloned or not, and as time progresses scientists
can experiment more and eradicate this problem all together by researching and practicing cloning
more. Cloning can benefit animals greatly, for example, scientists cloning animals to keep them from

Subjugation of Freedom in One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest
The Subjugation of Freedom in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest Ken Kesey s book, One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest, is a multi faceted work incorporating many thematic elements. One of the most
easily addressable themes is that of freedom and its limitations placed upon the characters in the
novel. Many types of freedoms are addressed ranging from the tangible and real to the perceived and
implied. The setting primarily takes place in a mental hospital on a locked ward which limits the
characters physical freedoms. The characters are constantly coerced and demeaned by the antagonist
Ms. Ratched which limits their mental freedoms. Beneath all is a subtext of sexual repression which is
constantly fought against by McMurphy. Individually, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sex is used in the novel as a representation of total freedom. Its exercise is almost always portrayed by
McMurphy who, through his general demeanor and newness to the hospital, is the most free, sexually,
of any of the men. He is so free, that it has gotten him into trouble as he only seems to be able to act
on impulse. Society is not able to deal with his complete abandon and he is eventually punished for it
by having a piece of his brain removed. The rest of the men are all repressed mostly due to some
problem they ve had with the women in their lives. In fact, it is their inability to deal with women that
brought them to the hospital in the first place. Women are portrayed throughout the book as the root of
all men s problems. Nurse Ratched is the penultimate figure of sexual repression. She does not
acknowledge her femininity but hides it successfully, but for her bosom, beneath her sterile, pressed
uniform. She is cold toward the men offering no real compassion and serves only to aggravate the men
s issues with women in general. Her power is finally stripped from her, quite literally, when
McMurphy rips open her uniform revealing her breasts, the symbol of femininity; she is a woman
after all.
Limiting or removing freedom boils down to control. Those who restrict freedoms wish to exercise
control upon those whose freedoms have been infringed. In the story, the restriction of all freedoms is

Comparing Genesis Creation And The Norse Culture
Although a lot of other cosmogonic myths have presented creations as part of a natural process that
has the clear understanding that it is an act of divine and creative will. We all know there are several
creation myths across different cultures. It is known that every different culture even has its unique
creation myth that also explains how life and world came to be (Leonard McClure, 2004). The two
myths I would talk about when it comes to this topic are Genesis creation (Hebrew origin) of the
Christian culture, and the Norse culture of Iceland (the Vikings). From the readings of both, both
myths also start with an emptiness where conflict and chaos may even eventually develop. The
Genesis conflict is between God, loneliness, blackness, emptiness, and the need to create ... Show

There was a misleading image of the Vikings that made them be known as pagans with a hatred of the

The Feminine Touch
Chess (2011) continues examining the ad s contents by noting the presence of the feminine touch,
which Erving Goffman describes as a cradling or delicate sense of touch. This is particularly relevant
given the DS Lite s touch screen interface. As such, the content of the ad focuses on the woman
playing, not the game or the system itself. Instead of including the woman in the domain of play itself,
the ad resorts to presenting her as delicate and overtly feminine, thus dividing her from the rest of the
gaming audience.
A second case Chess (2011) examines is an advertisement for Wii Fit, a health centric game and
hardware addition to the Wii gaming system. The ad shows rows of models using the Wii Fit board,
placed against a green background, where green is the color representing health and natural living.
The white attire of the models contrast the background color, but supplement its meaning by
representing purity and simplicity Kama all values that one may strive for while using the Wii Fit
(Chess, 2011).
In her analysis, Chess (2011) describes advertising attempt to tap into women s body conscious
aptitude. While Wii Fit seemed to posit itself as a product that anyone can use regardless of sex or
ethnicity, the fact that it appears in magazines such as O and Good Housekeeping clearly Target a
female audience and plays on the standardized value of healthy living (Chess, 2011). It is quite
apparent that this type of game does not fall in the traditional realm of games,

Essay On The Desert Storm
The Desert Storm or as some know, the Persian Gulf War, took place in August of 1990. Saddam
Hussein, the leader of Iraq was the main person involved in the start of the war. The war included
many allied countries, they included a big part of the Middle East, Canada, United States and the
United Kingdom and many more. After lasting 100 hours the war ended on February 28th, 1991 (The
Gulf War,1991)
The Desert Storm, which is also known as the Persian Gulf War and known as Operation Desert
Storm, started at the end of the Cold War in 1990. The Desert Storm happened because Saddam
Hussein, who was the leader of Iraq ordered invasion and occupation of the neighboring country of
Kuwait, in August of 1990. Hussein was told by the United Nations Security Council to withdraw
from Kuwait by the middle of January 1991, and Hussein disregarded their demands. Because he
refused to withdraw the Persian Gulf War was triggered (Feinstein, 39). The Iraqi takeover posed a
threat to Saudi Arabia, which was another oil supplying country for the United States. If Saudi Arabia
took over by Hussein than he would have controlled one fifth of the world s oil supply. The Middle
East had their eyes on the White House, waiting for a response from President George H. W. Bush.
When he found out his response was, This will not stand, meaning that Hussein taking over the
Middle East s oil would not be tolerable (Operation Desert Storm).

Five Forces Analysis Of Nestle
Industry Environment Five Forces I. Threat of New Entrants Moderately High The food processing
industry is very large and competitive; it is not uncommon for firms within the industry to do quite
well. As a result, many companies enter into the market every year in an attempt to gain a portion of
the profitable market. Luckily for Nestlé, the company has been around for decades and boasts a long
history of quality products and consumer satisfaction, which has allowed the company to obtain a
considerable share of the market. It is demonstrated in accelerated investment activity in the 2000 s
which indicates long term commitment in markets where Nestle operates, and construction of 16
factories from 1993 2006 in China to meet consumer demand. As a result, new entrants into the
industry must attempt to seize a portion of Nestlé s market share in order to survive. However, over
the years, new entrants with healthier alternatives have threatened the status quo in markets like Asia,
Africa and the United States. Economies of Scale Nestle enjoys massive economies of scale because
of its size. Nestle has increased production while maintaining low cost through fewer factories. This
strategy has positively contributed to Nestle working capital. This advantage of economies of scale is
made possible because of Nestle s unmatched number of factories around the world. The Swiss giants

The Role of Women in Beowulf
The Role of Women in Beowulf The women in Beowulf, which was written around 70 CE by an
anonymous poet, fill many different roles, ranging from peacekeepers to wives and monsters, all of
which are evidenced in the Queen Wealtheow, Queen Hygd, Hidleburh, and Grendel s mother. The
most prominent role of women throughout the poem is devoted wives and queens, which is reflected
in the portrayal of Queen Wealtheow. When she is first introduced, Wealtheow went on her rounds,
queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, offering the goblet to all ranks, treating the household and
the assembled troop and then with measured words she welcomed the Geat and thanked God for
granting her wish that a deliverer she could believe in would arrive to ease their afflictions (lines 620
28). The anonymous poet paints a picture of Wealtheow as gracious, regal, and put together,
everything that an ideal queen should be. Not only is she physically perfect, but she is also an ideal
hostess one who tends to everyone, welcomes guests warmly, and ensures that everything is running
smoothly for her husband. Later in the poem, Wealtheow gives a toast, enjoy this drink, my most
generous lord; raise up your goblet, entertain the Geats duly and gently, discourse with them, be open
handed, happy and fond (lines 1168 71). Similar to this one, Wealtheow often gives speeches or toasts
throughout the poem, something that, though not entirely masculine, is usually reserved for kings to

Essay about This Fleeting World
This Fleeting World
This Fleeting World takes about two hundred and fifty thousand years worth of history and compacts
it into a one hundred and twenty page book. I believe Christian did a stellar job of doing so. Although
short, it is very rich in knowledge about how our world came to be. His points are powerful and well
put. This book definitely stands out in all the black and whiteness of history books. This fleeting world
ties the start of humanity, to current life very efficiently.

Christian s book gives you a better understanding of the order of how the world began to fall in place.
He allows us to know not only what and where, but also when, which is important in understanding
our history. Starting out as Homo Sapiens, human kind has come a long way to become what we are
today.
I believe David Christian backs up his claims exceptionally with information. He creates an
outstanding balance between fact and opinion. His opinions are always backed with reasonings and
fact, which leave us very convinced and satisfied. For example; The emergence of new forms of
radical anti Westernization is merely one reflection of growing resistance to Western values (Christian
88). He then backs up his claim in the next paragraph stating, In 1960 the wealthiest 20 percent of the
world s population earned about thirty times as much as the poorest twenty percent; in 1991 the
wealthiest twenty percent earned sixty one times as much (Christian 88). To prove his point, Christian
applies opinions, facts, statistics, and judgement to stand next to his claims. He is a writer in accuracy,
not just opinion.
David Christian has indeed written a phenomenal book that breaks down our history into satisfactory
proportions. It gives us a better grasp

A Short History of Nearly Everything
A Short History of Nearly Everything is a popular science book by American author Bill Bryson that
explains some areas of science, using a style of language which aims to be more accessible to the
general public than many other books dedicated to the subject. It was one of the bestselling popular
science books of 2005 in the UK, selling over 300,000 copies.[1]
instead describing general sciences such as chemistry, paleontology, astronomy, and particle physics.
In it, he explores time from the Big Bang to the discovery of quantum mechanics, via evolution and
geology.
Bryson tells the story of science through the stories of the people who made the discoveries, such as
Edwin Hubble, Isaac Newton, and Albert Einstein.

Just like the alchemists of old, scientists have a regrettable tendency to vaile their secrets with mistie
speech . Science, John Keats sulked, will clip an Angel s wings, / Conquer all mysteries by rule and
line. Bryson turns this on its head by blaming the messenger rather than the message. Robbing nature
of its mystery is what he thinks most science books do best. But, unlike Keats, he doesn t believe that
this is at all necessary. We may be living in societies less ready to believe in magic, miracles or
afterlives, but the sublime remains. Rather as Richard Dawkins has argued, Bryson insists that the
results of scientific study can be wondrous and very often are so. The trick is to write about them in a
way that makes them comprehensible without crushing nature s mystique.
Bryson provides a lesson in how it should be done. The prose is just as one would expect energetic,
quirky, familiar and humorous. Bryson s great skill is that of lightly holding the reader s hand
throughout; building up such trust that topics as recondite as atomic weights, relativity and particle
physics are shorn of their terrors.
The amount of ground covered is truly impressive. From the furthest reaches of cosmology, we range
through time and space until we are looking at the smallest particles. We explore our own planet and

The Goal By Alex Rojo
The Goal, story circles around Alex Rojo, the manufacturing and production plant manager at UniCo
and the challenges he faces to save his plant, which is on the brink of shutting down. He s given 3
months time to turn around the dying manufacturing plant. Alex is torn between professional and
personal life issues, and novel does excellent job depicting the protagonist s struggle to save his plant
and his marriage.
He struggles to find a way to cut his costs, improve his production and shipping times, without getting
rid of employees. The company faces many constraints, which are described as a limitation or
restriction. It becomes seemingly obvious as the story goes on that the goal of the employees was all
wrong.
While thinking back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can achieve this a number of different ways, whether it be to increase net profit, increase return
on investment and cash flow, or other means. As long as the end goal is to make money. He must learn
how to put his operations into those terms to reach his goal.
He decides he needs to find Jonah once again to get some more mentoring. Jonah shares three terms
that will help him run his plant: throughput, inventory and operational expense. Everything can be
classified under one of these terms. While in the midst of all of this turmoil, the plant had robots that
were taking over some of the production jobs. Alex realizes, after his talk with Jonah, that these robots
did not help to save money, but in fact increased costs, operational expenses, and were less productive.
The robots were implemented, which increased costs to do so, however they did not reduce other costs
like direct labor. They shifted labor to other parts of the plant. Now the challenge is how they are
going to take care of the robots issue without lowering efficiencies? Alex decides to visit Jonah again.
Jonah tells him he has got it all wrong.
Alex takes some time to reflect once again during his Boy Scouts trip. A balanced plant is not the
answer Alex is looking for. This will only decrease throughput and increase inventory and operating
expenses. While on a hike, Alex realizes he understands the concept of dependent events. He takes the
slowest kid (Herbie) and puts him in the front of

I am a white Male that was born in the state of South Dakota. I was born into a privileged life with a future ahead of me. Bo is a black male that was born in Bessemer Alabama; however, he was not born into a privileged family. Nobody knew if Bo would have a future, or if he was going to be alive at the age of twenty. Bo did not always have food on the table because his family struggled to make ends meet. The environment that Bo grew up in made him a troublesome kid. Everyday Bo would threaten kids and hurt kids because they did not do what he wanted them to, and that is because of the environment he had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quote says that it should be a requirement for athletes to give back and help the community where they came from. I think that this is similar in both my culture and the culture in the book because most people want and need to help out and give back. I often hear how athletes are going to hospitals and making kids smile. I also hear how they are donating money for the community. J.J Watt, an athlete of my culture, raised thirty seven million dollars for Hurricane Harvey relief. James Harden, an athlete of the culture described in the book, donated one million dollars to helpful Hurricane Harvey Relief. Athletes in both cultures give back, so shouldn t it be an expectation for every athlete to give back. They have already succeeded, so they should try to make their communities better to give others a better chance to make the world a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Influence of American Culture in the 1950s and 1960s... Canada as a nation has been striving to characterize itself as more ?Canadian? for decades. This has included numerous struggles and events such as protests, bans, and the creation of the Massey Commission, to encourage national development in the arts, and support major companies like the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and National Film Board (NFB). However, this has not been an easy task for the Canadian government, as major influences from below the border (the United States) have been captivating the Canadian audiences by large. American media has had a momentous revolutionizing effect on Canada, even through efforts made to define Canada with its own cultural identity. Pop culture in the 1950s and 1960s began to spread and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The media began to control the way they lived their lives, what they wore, what they listened to, and even what they believed. After all, everyone wants to roll with the popular crowd. The Canadian government could not possibly stand for further American conquest on their culture and media. It was time to stop the inundation of Americanization before they had lost all original material and their identity had vanished into the shadows of Canadian history. A suitable action was taken by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), stripping as much American content from the station as possible, leaving only what was necessary to satisfy the popular demand (removing all American substance had its consequences, severe as losing money and audiences, and ensuing in the downfall of the broadcasting industry due to the lack of well known content). This would leave space for more Canadian programming, as a result fulfilling the promise of making Canada more Canadian, taking into consideration even such a small modification. The Canadian government?s plan to get rid of the great American culture influence was one of many faults. There would be no way of carrying this out without disappointing much of the un disturbed Canadian society, those who have grown comfortable with their surroundings and are appreciative of everything the United States has had to ... • 5. Critical Analysis Of Eric Schlosser s Your Trusted Friends Oftentimes, writers of argumentative essays will explicitly state their claim, establishing a position on a topic in a clear and concise manner. In doing so, writers arguments are essentially more effective in representing the chosen subject matter. In Your Trusted Friends , investigative journalist Eric Schlosser writes that Walt Disney and Ray Kroc perfected the art of selling to children, however, this writing is laced with numerous, hidden, implications. Schlosser s work subconsciously suggests that companies like Disney and McDonald s prey on children in order to gain profit. This, therefore, makes his argument weak overall, since instead of blatantly expressing his opinion, he leaves his audience to guess about the overall purpose of the piece. Throughout the writing, Schlosser provides historical and statistical information about both the businessmen, Disney and Kroc, and their individual companies. In the third paragraph, he writes about the shared experiences between the men, from growing up in the same hometown to serving in in the same World War I ambulance corps (Schlosser 184). He then lists examples of how the men s failures in their humble beginnings eventually led to success. Schlosser writes that the men, for example, focused more on strengthening their marketing strategies and standing in as authority figures instead of wasting time on attempts to add new dishes to the McDonald s menu or trying to write and animate Disney cartoons (Schlosser 184). Recently the existence and prevalence of health and health care disparities has increased with accompanying research showing that minorities (African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders) are disproportionately affected resulting in poorer health outcomes compared to non minority populations (whites). To this degree is due to numerous issues including and most importantly the social determinants of health which includes lower levels of education, overall lower socioeconomic status, inadequate and unsafe housing, and living in close proximity to environmental hazards; all contributing to poor health. • 10. A Christian At The Age Of 14 Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at the age of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a series of random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false. I worked for 35 plus years as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research hydrologist studying the quantity and quality of river water. I later moved into water science management positions and lastly served as an executive responsible for the all the surface water related activities of the USGS in the U.S.A. As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware River Master. As River Master, I administered the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court Decree allocating the waters of the Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with a wealth of education and experience in all aspects fresh water related science and science management. In the past, Foley catheters remained in place, and the need to continue them was not addressed on a daily basis. But, with education and research this has changed. Education sessions offered in hospital settings and huddles, for example, are perfect opportunities for the nurses to identify patients with a Foley catheter on the unit and review strategies for decreasing infections (Clayton, 2017). Knowing when catheters are being useful and when they are becoming an issue and causing a problem is the key to identifying CAUTI s. Preventing CAUTI s begins with avoiding unnecessary use of urinary catheters, developing policies for insertion and maintenance of catheters, selecting the appropriate catheter, and instituting surveillance of CAUTIs and catheter use. Protocols to eliminate CAUTI s will decrease their incidence and ensure better quality care (Clayton, 2017). This research found that out of 517 hospitals, 56% of them did not have a system to keep track of catheterized patients (Clayton, 2017). It was also found that 74% of the hospitals did not keep proper records of how long an indwelling catheter has been in a patient (Clayton, 2017). These flawed systems can be costly to patient safety and quality of care. Improper education for health care workers is dangerous for patient care. The Glasgow state used the global legacy, support and exceptionality of the games to justify the transformation of culture and the exploitation of the lower classes. They did this through neoliberal based policy, violence and the manipulation of consumerism. This resulted in the working class of Glasgow falling victim to exclusionary displacement, economic vulnerability and helplessness. Star Wars Argumentative Essay Under normal circumstances, when a fairly large franchise film is coming out, you could be forgiven for forgetting about the accompanying video game that inevitably comes along with it. But Star Wars: the Force Awakens isn t a fairly large franchise film, and these are by no means normal circumstances. A little under a month ahead of what could quite possibly be the biggest cinematic release of all time, we fans have not just a shameless tie in but a fully fledged reboot of one of the most loved franchises in Star Wars enormous gaming catalogue. Nineteenth Century Short Stories and the Gothic Genre Essay Nineteenth Century Short Stories and the Gothic Genre The three short stories that I have chosen to compare and contrast are: The Signalman by Charles Dickens, An Arrest by Ambrose Bearcy and Napoleon and the Spectre by Charlotte Brontë. All these stories were completed by the mid to late eighteenth hundreds. The Signalman is set by a railway in Britain, along a lonely stretch of a railway line in a steep cutting. An Arrest is set in America and for the most part in a forest. Napoleon and the Spectre is set in Paris. In the glow of an angry sunset, the stranger re visits the line to see the signalman. The word angry is far from comfortable or romantic. An Arrest by Ambrose Bearcy is a story of a murderer who was awaiting his trial, escaped by knocking down his jailer with an iron bar, and went into the forest. It was night and the forest in to which, he entered was renowned for being wild and unsafe. He goes for many a mile and some how manages to exit the forest and finds an old road and on the road there stood the figure of a man, motionless in the gloom. The gothic style protrudes from this line of the novel very clearly and adds to the sense of suspense and fear that is plaguing this scene. The fugitive is almost face to face with the figure of a man, and feels he cannot turn his back for fear of being filled with buckshot, so he stood there like a tree. But they can be classified as optimistic or pessimistic based on set of knowledge. He also argues that the credit rating announcement does not give any undisclosed information to the investors or the market. It only attempts to homogenize the investor s belief. According to Adelson (2012) credit rating plays a vital role in providing an independent opinion about the creditworthiness of the issuer and bridging the gap between lenders and borrowers. Lazarescu (2003) says standardising the value judgement in relation to borrowers in the current scenario of globalisation is contributed by credit rating agency. De Haan and Amtenbrink(2011) argued that there are flaws in the use of credit rating agencies judgement in regulation and accounting. The agencies have a substantial impact on the bonds and their interest. But when the bond is downgraded it is harmful. There will be herd behaviour among investors trying to liquidate investment. If the patient no showed for 3 more appointments, then they are referred to the chief executive officer of the center to discuss the matter before resuming back their health services and if the patient no showed once after that within a year, then they are suspended for a whole ... • 33. The Role of Women in Beowulf The Role of Women in Beowulf The women in Beowulf, which was written around 70 CE by an anonymous poet, fill many different roles, ranging from peacekeepers to wives and monsters, all of which are evidenced in the Queen Wealtheow, Queen Hygd, Hidleburh, and Grendel s mother. The most prominent role of women throughout the poem is devoted wives and queens, which is reflected in the portrayal of Queen Wealtheow. When she is first introduced, Wealtheow went on her rounds, queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, offering the goblet to all ranks, treating the household and the assembled troop and then with measured words she welcomed the Geat and thanked God for granting her wish that a deliverer she could believe in would arrive to ease their afflictions (lines 620 28). The anonymous poet paints a picture of Wealtheow as gracious, regal, and put together, everything that an ideal queen should be. Not only is she physically perfect, but she is also an ideal hostess one who tends to everyone, welcomes guests warmly, and ensures that everything is running smoothly for her husband. Later in the poem, Wealtheow gives a toast, enjoy this drink, my most generous lord; raise up your goblet, entertain the Geats duly and gently, discourse with them, be open handed, happy and fond (lines 1168 71). Similar to this one, Wealtheow often gives speeches or toasts throughout the poem, something that, though not entirely masculine, is usually reserved for kings to give to his ... The poor child has no idea of how to set a table, thought Nancy. She smiled at Charity, hoping to ease the anxiousness that was clearly visible on her face. It s alright, dear; I ll show you how. I am sure you will catch on pretty quick; there s nothing to it. When they had gotten everything ready and on the table, Nancy went to the door and called the men folk in for supper. Although Charity was hungry, once everyone fixed their plate and began eating, she became nervous; she could barely eat because she kept sneaking glances in Henry s direction. Don t pay Eli any mind, Mr. Finley, said Nancy. He just likes to grumble. I cook more meat and potatoes because that is what I have the most of to cook. One day, I might fry them, the next day, if I find a few carrots in the garden, I ll make a stew. Yeah, Nancy s right; admitted Eli. I don t have any call to be grumbling about eating... we have more than a lot of folks has, but we was born poor; I reckon we ll die poor, said Eli, and without stopping his string of discourse, added, I hear the land over in Georgia and Alabama is better for growing cotton than it is here in the watershed. Maybe one day, these youngsters will get a chance to check it out, Eli mused. Charity and Henry both snuck a quick look at each other. She knew her face must be blood red from embarrassment Charity knew what was up because of the conversation she and her grandfather had on the way there, but wondered if Henry had any idea of what his father and her grandfather had up their sleeves. Eli and her grandfather also talked a little about raising tobacco, indigo, and rice like many of the large plantations around Savannah were doing; both agreed that without slaves or a passel, of hardy sons to work the land, it wasn t even worth the discussion. Nowadays, it is quite hard to work without any assistance of computers in most areas, even some traditional fields, such as agriculture, tourism, education etc. A computer is defined as a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or logical operations automatically ( Computer, 2015). In other words, it is a device which can solve some sort of problems through calculating data or taking statistics. The history of Computers can not only bring us a great diversity of benefit. However, on the other hand, there are still quite a few people insist some negative points that computers made our world more complicated, or we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ENIAC contained 17,468 vacuum tubes, 7200 crystal diodes, 1500 relays, 70,000 resistors, 10,000 capacitors and approximately 5,000,000 hand soldered joints. It weighed more than 30 short tons (27 t), was roughly 2.4m × 0.9m × 30m (8 × 3 × 100 feet) in size, occupied 167m2 (1800 ft2) and consumed 150 kW of electricity ( Computer, 2015). This computer can calculate more than 5000 simple addition or subtraction operations in one second. It means ENIAC was better than last generation of computer one thousand times, or manual calculation two hundred thousand times. Background The idea of developing an electronic computer was generated during the World War II. At that time, every country was busy with researching new strategic weapons and equipment. Therefore, producing new types of airplanes and artilleries tended to be more and more significant and necessary. For this reason, the Ordnance Department of US Army set up a Ballistic Research Laboratory in Aberdeen, Maryland. The US military required that the lab needed to provide six firing tables of Army artillery units daily in order to identify the development of missile technology. Although it was just six firing tables, they needed a staggering amount of work. As a matter of fact, each table must calculate hundreds of shooting ballistic, and each model of trajectory is a set of very complex nonlinear equations. These equations are no way to find the exact solution, it can only be calculated approximately by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about This Fleeting World This Fleeting World This Fleeting World takes about two hundred and fifty thousand years worth of history and compacts it into a one hundred and twenty page book. I believe Christian did a stellar job of doing so. Although short, it is very rich in knowledge about how our world came to be. His points are powerful and well put. This book definitely stands out in all the black and whiteness of history books. This fleeting world ties the start of humanity, to current life very efficiently. The moment the earth was made was when history was first conceived. The introduction tells us about the making of planet Earth, which sets up the scene for the arrival of the Foragers. The history of man consists of three primary eras: the Era ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wanted to capture our attention so we could maybe realize the importance of our prehistory. Christian s book gives you a better understanding of the order of how the world began to fall in place. He allows us to know not only what and where, but also when, which is important in understanding our history. Starting out as Homo Sapiens, human kind has come a long way to become what we are today. I believe David Christian backs up his claims exceptionally with information. He creates an outstanding balance between fact and opinion. His opinions are always backed with reasonings and fact, which leave us very convinced and satisfied. For example; The emergence of new forms of radical anti Westernization is merely one reflection of growing resistance to Western values (Christian 88). He then backs up his claim in the next paragraph stating, In 1960 the wealthiest 20 percent of the world s population earned about thirty times as much as the poorest twenty percent; in 1991 the wealthiest twenty percent earned sixty one times as much (Christian 88). To prove his point, Christian applies opinions, facts, statistics, and judgement to stand next to his claims. He is a writer in accuracy, not just opinion. David Christian has indeed written a phenomenal book that breaks down our history into satisfactory proportions. It gives us a better grasp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Investigating the Water Potential of a Potato Investigating the water potential of a potato Aim Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a region of high water concentration to a low water concentration through a semi permeable membrane. Our aim is to investigate the water potential of a potato through osmosis, by finding the difference in weight before and after the potato has been set in a solution of water, sugar or salt. Trial Method Firstly we collected the equipment. This included a scalpel, potato cutter, and test tubes. Then we cut the potato using the potato cutter into cylinders. Then we used the scalpel to cut each potato strip down to size. To get each strip as close as possible the same length and width we used a ruler get correct measurements. Then we filled ... The act gives people the right to see personal file, for example one held by a bank on a customer s creditworthiness. In the Data Protection Act 1998 it was updated legislation and gave employees the right to see the personal files. Organisations are only allowed to keep relevant information on customers for the purpose for which it was collected and not longer than is necessary. For example a tour operator which collects names and addresses of customers when they enter a competition cannot keep the data and use it for other promotional activities unless the customer gives permission. The tour operator is not allowed to sell the data to another organisation either. It was passed in order to protect the rights of individuals who have data relating to them stored on computers file by an organisation or the owner of the data. The rapid development in the use of information and communication technology has led to legislation about the collection, storage, processing and distribution of personal data. Under the provision of the act a person can find out the information which is held on him and her by: referring to the Data Protection Register ( a copy held in all major libraries) which lists all holders of data

A Short History of Nearly Everything A Short History of Nearly Everything is a popular science book by American author Bill Bryson that explains some areas of science, using a style of language which aims to be more accessible to the general public than many other books dedicated to the subject. It was one of the bestselling popular science books of 2005 in the UK, selling over 300,000 copies.[1] instead describing general sciences such as chemistry, paleontology, astronomy, and particle physics. In it, he explores time from the Big Bang to the discovery of quantum mechanics, via evolution and geology. Bryson tells the story of science through the stories of the people who made the discoveries, such as Edwin Hubble, Isaac Newton, and Albert Einstein. Background Bill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like the alchemists of old, scientists have a regrettable tendency to vaile their secrets with mistie speech . Science, John Keats sulked, will clip an Angel s wings, / Conquer all mysteries by rule and line. Bryson turns this on its head by blaming the messenger rather than the message. Robbing nature of its mystery is what he thinks most science books do best. But, unlike Keats, he doesn t believe that this is at all necessary. We may be living in societies less ready to believe in magic, miracles or afterlives, but the sublime remains. Rather as Richard Dawkins has argued, Bryson insists that the results of scientific study can be wondrous and very often are so. The trick is to write about them in a way that makes them comprehensible without crushing nature s mystique. Bryson provides a lesson in how it should be done. The prose is just as one would expect energetic, quirky, familiar and humorous. Bryson s great skill is that of lightly holding the reader s hand throughout; building up such trust that topics as recondite as atomic weights, relativity and particle physics are shorn of their terrors. The amount of ground covered is truly impressive. From the furthest reaches of cosmology, we range through time and space until we are looking at the smallest particles. We explore our own planet and get to grips with the ideas, first of Newton and then of Einstein, that allow us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jonah shares three terms that will help him run his plant: throughput, inventory and operational expense. Everything can be classified under one of these terms. While in the midst of all of this turmoil, the plant had robots that were taking over some of the production jobs. Alex realizes, after his talk with Jonah, that these robots did not help to save money, but in fact increased costs, operational expenses, and were less productive. The robots were implemented, which increased costs to do so, however they did not reduce other costs like direct labor. They shifted labor to other parts of the plant. Now the challenge is how they are going to take care of the robots issue without lowering efficiencies? Alex decides to visit Jonah again. Jonah tells him he has got it all wrong. Alex takes some time to reflect once again during his Boy Scouts trip. A balanced plant is not the answer Alex is looking for.
