Gothic Architecture In The Renaissance
The Renaissance was the following period after the Middle ages in European history. This period was
the time of rebirth of the Roman and Greek education where people slowly began to turn back and
reflect their ancestral way of mind. The Europeans, whose lives were so centered on the thought of
their soul entering the afterlife and specifically Heaven has now diminished. They did not do action
just because they had to, but they decided to do action for the better quality of human life. Europeans
began to focus on the present, logic, reason, and the reality that even though they still considered
themselves as Christians, they did not act the same way as they did in the past. In the Renaissance,
most medieval idea was altered. The Catholic church in the medieval time was using gothic
architecture that was flourishing throughout Europe. It had the flying buttresses that seemed to reach
out into Heaven, but by the time the Renaissance came along, it had longed been expired. The
cathedrals built in this period was constructed with the classical style of the Romanesque era.
Therefore, the ones like the cathedral built by Brunelleschi in Florence does not have the gothic flying
buttresses, but instead, the Roman dome. Now, the cathedrals were built so that God has seemed like
He was amongst the people. The style of music was also influenced by the time of the Renaissance.
Music was no longer under the full control of the Church. Instead, Europeans began to play

The Emergence Of Scientific Management
The emergence of scientific management
Frederick W. Taylor is called the father of scientific management who is world famous through his
book named The Principles of Scientific Management . The Principles of Scientific Management was
first published in the early 20th century. Through his work, Frederick W. Taylor described that the
process of scientific management can increase total worker organizational efficiency.
The theory of scientific management was not invented by one day. It took many times for Frederick
W. Taylor to understand that time s organizational structure; workers behavior machinery tools etc. the
idea was generated in his mind because he worked in various firms during the late 19th century,
starting in 1878 with Midvale steel company. He worked there several years recognized some of the
process of the factory operation. He realized, at that time the management had no clear knowledge of
working responsibilities or management responsibilities. There wasn t any organized or structured
work standard. The managers were taking their decision with guess, past experience, intuition which
in many time resulted in failure. The workers efficiency level didn t grow.
Frederick w. Taylor was promoted to chief engineer at the age of twenty eight. At that time he also
saw that the bonding among the workers and the foremen is too weak like struggling over the quantity
of output. Taylor wanted to implement some general method to solve that matter, but he understood

Parental Power And Adult Authority
Control reflects the center of power or the source of decision making in the relationship and has a
continuum that ranges from parental to child control. Types of parental power indicate the methods
parents use to exert their influence on the child (Vargas, Busch Rossnagel, Montero Sieburth, and
Villarruel, 2000). However, a recent study found that Hispanic children who are between the ages of
four and six often struggle with depression, anxiety, and somatization due to common parenting styles
within Hispanic culture (Cohen, 2015). Hispanic parents tend to control by teaching their children to
be obedient and show absolute respect for adult authority. They also control their children by clear
rules, high standards, strict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baptism and Confirmations are major religious celebrations for Hispanic families that contribute the
main part of the Hispanic culture and traditions. In fact, there are many Hispanic children are still
baptized as Catholics (Social Issues Reference, 2010). Hispanic families have strong and supportive
family relationships and genuine parenting practice. Most studies found that family cohesion helps to
maintain adolescent s behaviors, decrease negative outcomes, and promote psychological well being.
For example, family cohesion has been found to decrease the risk of conduct problems and rule
breaking among Mexican origin adolescents (Marsiglia, Parsai, Kulis, 2009). Typically, Hispanic
adolescents who associate with higher levels of family cohesion reduce the rate of consuming alcohol
and illicit drug as well as depress symptoms. In fact, the higher level of family cohesion may decrease
family problems such as parent adolescent conflict and improve family s well being. Another study
found that Hispanic adolescents who associate with lower and higher levels family cohesion were
great risk for alcohol use because high cohesion might be caused controlling rather that supportive
(Lee Warner, 2015). Moreover, many studies found that Hispanic adolescents in immigrant families
have more parent adolescents

Ingvar Kamprad vs Steve Jobs Essay
Ingvar Kamprad and Steve Jobs are two people that have set their footmark forever on this planet.
Ingvar Kamprad is founder of the great furniture empire, IKEA. Steve Jobs is best known as one of
the co founders of Apple, the most valuable company on earth. Both these business gurus are huge
role models of mine and have definitely changed my way of thinking in several ways.
Mr. Kamprad could be any 85 year old white man with his faded coat, tinted prescription glasses and
scuffed shoes; he looks like just another pensioner scraping by on a tight budget. Even though Steve
Jobs left us as a 65 year old, together with his famous black mock turtleneck, blue mom jeans and
cheap tennis shoes, they both shared a simple way of dressing. ... Show more content on

Steve dropped college after only one semester and started to take a few part time jobs. In 1975, he
worked for a video/computer company but suddenly decided for a 7 months trip to India in search of
spiritual enlightenment. He came back to the US and started to experiment with psychedelics and
according to a book, Steve called his LSD experiences one of the two or three most important things
done in my life. After experimenting, he went back to the video/computer company and worked there
once again. Steve and his computer friend Stephen Wozniak shared the same passion for computers
and after they assembled their first computer, Apple Computer Company was born. The company was
born in Steve´s garage 1976, and they continued to build several computers. People were hired,
upgrades to bigger facilities were made and salesmen went great. Four years after Apples birth the
company was worth $200 million. After a dispute between Steve and his employees, his own creation
fired him. In revenge he started another computer company called NeXT and also bought the famous
animation studio Pixar which he shaped from only being a simple dough to the most delightful pastry.
Unlike Pixar, NeXT went bad but so did Apple. Steve convinced Apple to buy NeXT in order to
compete with Microsoft and years after that he returned to Apple as a CEO and turned the company
into what it is today, the most valuable company in the world (Internet). On the

Essay On The Idaho State Standards And The True Story Of...
I have known for some time that my weakest area on Charlette Danielson s Framework for Teaching is
asking questions that require higher order thinking. As a first grade teacher there is so much
information that I am presenting to them that we move at a very fast pace. I am constantly checking
for understanding, but my questions focus on knowledge and comprehension. I rarely take time for
lengthy discussions that allow the children to express their opinions and interpretation of the
information presented. The Idaho State Standards and the Danielson framework make it clear that this
is an area I need to focus on and that I must make time for it in my very hectic schedule. I developed a
plan of action to assist me in this process and set a goal to have 80% of my students score a 70% or

We talked about whose point of view the stories were told from, we struggled with this and it required
a lot of modeling and scaffolding, and we also constructed new endings for the stories. Then we
moved on to two new stories, The Three Little Pigs and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A.
Wolf . Each time the oral and written responses improved but they still required a great deal of teacher
mediation. The second assessment revealed that only 24% of my student had met the oral target and
31% had met the written. My kids were making great progress, but we had started out much lower
than I had anticipated.
Day seven brought the great debate. Unfortunatley there was not much of a debate. They all believed
the wolf because the title stated that it was the true story. They did however support their opinions
with evidence. They did a wonderful job creating their posters representing the moral of the story, my
favorite was work hard or be eaten , but we struggled desperately to create interview questions for the

Mrs Warren s Profession And The Ruined Maid
Being female has a long history of being considered lesser than the male counterpart, the same is true
for female sexuality. While modern times have come to accept female sexuality in all its forms, past
literature often dealt with it through the act of prostitution. Both George Bernard Shaw s Mrs. Warren
s Profession and Thomas Hardy s The Ruined Maid deal with the representation of female sexuality
through prostitution and brothels. This is portrayed as empowering for the women involved despite
societal conditions forcing this role, yet deals with the reaction from society very differently. Both
texts also deal with the social stigma that surrounds prostitution and the utilization of female sexuality
in different way while both having the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mrs. Warren s Profession, the concept of women viewing prostitution and brothels as the only
means for upward social mobility or even just survival is not shied away from. In a preface from the
play in 1902, Shaw himself is quoted as saying No normal woman would be a professional prostitute
if she could better herself by being respectable . This also ties into the reason that Mrs. Warren is not
portrayed as helpless or a victim for being a prostitute/ part of the brothel, rather having the blame
placed on the societal and economic conditions that led to her choosing this occupation (Liggins 50).
This also ties back to Shaw s intention of throwing the responsibility and guilt of Mrs. Warren s
choices back on the British public themselves rather than on the individual. This sentiment is also felt
in The Ruined Maid , as it proposes that the only reason for Melia s current place in society is due to
her being ruined, as prior she was poor and uneducated on the farm (Hardy 5 11). The text alludes that
her pre marital fornication allowed her upward mobility, and it may have been the only way to achieve
it. Through being ruined, Melia has improved herself both socially and intellectually (Renner 25).
Another comparison between the two texts is the acceptance of other female characters that the
decision made good financial sense to join the

James Petrie Mackenzie
Introduction In 1875 James Petrie Mackenzie traveled by boat for a better life from Scotland to New
Zealand. James left Scotland because of the unhealthy environments, there was also not much land at
the time or money to go around. Overpopulated cities were also a problem. These push factors caused
many Scots to leave their homeland in search of better conditions. New Zealand offered many pull
factors. There was an abundance of cheap land, more job opportunities, a better lifestyle and in many
cases free passage to New Zealand.
Background of ancestor My ancestor who immigrated from Scotland in 1867,was James Petrie

in stages with the New Plymouth to Stratford section being built in the early 1880 s.
Pull factor 2
Another pull factor that led scots to New Zealand was that New Zealand offered higher wages and
much more job opportunities than Scotland did. Letters from family members about higher wages in
New Zealand Encouraged the Scots to emigrate over to New Zealand.
Decision of pull factor there were much more opportunities elsewhere in the world for most scottish

Essay about Mexicans Begin Jogging
The irony of Gary Soto Mexicans Begin Jogging Gary s Soto Mexicans Begin Jogging, describes an
event that happened when he worked in a factory where illegal Mexican workers were employed.
Although the poem is simple, Soto brings identity, ironic, drama, and imagery to his audience. The
narrative reflects irony the speaker went through and the dilemma that Mexican Americans go
through. The poems tone is ironic and not taking too seriously. The poem begins explaining to the
reader the story of a Mexican American as he worked in an industrial factory at some point in his life.

like him, mainly Mexicans who come to the United States to strive for something better in life. The
speaker addresses the dilemma of being neither Mexican nor American, of traveling the trajectory
between both nationalities. Because he its color of the skin and lived in a border culture, it was often
assumed that he was not an American. The speaker is a men looking for freedom and a better future,
an element so well known that he is willing to risk everything to achieve his goal. There is no need for

Pros And Cons Of King Cobra
The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger than
a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow to
record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages, and there
have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what could happen.
However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, then I believe that
the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Many support the mongoose, and many
support the cobra. Either way, there are many pieces of evidence that support the mongooses many
advantages. To begin, the mongoose has great attacking abilities ... Show more content on

That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling
amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so
injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can
flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight
snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand up
like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It will
fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of itself. The
mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To conclude, many pieces
of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the mongoose would win, no
contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing mongoose. At this point, it is obvious
that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, the mongoose would win
because of all of its advantages. Now we all know that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious
cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most scenarios, at

Analysis Of The Book The On Mortal Kombat By Kevin Wilson
In the stories that author Kevin Wilson wrote in Tunneling to the Center of the Earth, several
characters are ruled by fear. The fear that these characters have eventually winded up having a
solution or solve that helps resolve their fears. Fear is defined as: a feeling of agitation or anxiety
caused by the presence or imminence of danger. An example of fear in one of the stories is Leonard in
Blowing up on the Spot, because he fears death and it controls and restricts his life. Towards the end
of that story, Leonard finds his resolve of having that fear. The type of things that can lead to
resolutions of fear is epiphanies. In his short story, Mortal Kombat to boys was facing a fear like no
other. In his short story called Mortal Kombat the boys Scotty and Wynn are best friends and they both
have this fear of accepting they are falling for one another. In Kevin Wilsons short story, Mortal
Kombat the narrator says, It is simple and awkward at the same time, the way they proceed. There is
only the quickness of movement, the instinctive responses of the body. It feels like fighting; that is

Sample Of Apology Report
Thank you for replying and I apologize in advance for the lengthy and wordy message and talking
about myself here and there. I tried to give as much details as possible. Some things can no longer be
proven because to my knowledge Fran stopped doing them when Paul and Mark Rodocker started to
visit the building frequently. I placed stars at the beginning of the important paragraphs, which is the
main purpose of my email, where you most likely can find evidence to support my claims. And if you
gave Fran permission to do those things then I sincerely apologize and hope you disregard this
message. Background: I worked as Fran s assistant for over two years and the 8th was my last day

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vinyl Cutters
What is a vinyl cutter?
A vinyl cutter is controlled by a computer. Popularly known as vinyl plotters, it is a computer
controlled plotting device with a blade to cut out shapes and letters from sheets of vinyl, which is a
self adhesive plastic. Now, after reading this line, thoughts might arise in the minds of our readers that
what exactly is vinyl?? It is nothing but a synthetic plastic consisting of PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
used especially for wallpapers and other covering materials and for phonographic records.
Principle of working:
In the words of a lay man, we can say that a computer controls the movement of the blade used in the
cutter. This blade is used to etch shapes and carve designs from sheets of vinyl. The intricate

Summary Of The Celebrated Jumping Frog
I picked The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County , because I thought it looks interesting
from reading my classmate Mini s thoughts on Discussion Forum Unit 5. I felt a little out of sorts after
reading The Bet , but I knew The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County was the story with
same bet theme and I tried to read it for a change. The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County
has an as told to framework. A talkative man named Simon Wheeler relates to Mark Twain (the
narrator) the story of a gambler named Jim Smiley and the amazing animals Smiley used in his
schemes (Wilson, 1997, p18). Jim Smiley made a bet with the stranger. He offered to bet forty dollars
that Dan l Webster (frog) could outjump any frog in Calaveras County. But the stranger is a con artist,
he spooned buckshot into Dan l Webster s mouth that he is unable to jump. Consequently, Jim Smiley
had lost the wager. He found out soon after, but it was too late. I didn t like it or hate this story at first.
This was quite a humorous story, but I hate racing between animals by constraint. After that, I knew
this story provided relevant and incisive commentary about ninteenth century American society
(Wilson). The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County appears at first glance to be a simple, ...

fidel castro Essay
The United States of America is a country that believes in democracy and has unfavorable ties with
communist countries. The United States has tried for decades to improve relations with the countries
that don t practice democracy.
History shows disagreements between the United States and dictators of these irreverent countries,
disagreements that brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. The most recent of these
confrontations involved three countries.
United States of America, Cuba and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic
(USSR). Fidel Castro is a Cuban revolutionary, who took control of Cuba in 1959 and established a
Communist dictatorship. Castro, who was born in Mayari, became the leader of an underground, anti

A complete break in diplomatic relations occurred in 1961. On April 17 of that year, anti Castro exiles
supported and trained by the United States government, landed an invasion force in the Bay of Pigs in
southern Cuba. Ninety of the invaders were killed, and some 1200 were captured. President Castro
announced
May 17 that Cuba would exchange prisoners taken at the Bay of Pigs for 500 U.S. bulldozers.
Negotiations broke down June 30, and Castro declared himself a
Marxist Leninist on December 2. He announced formation of a united party to bring communism to
Cuba. Relations between the United States and Cuba grew still more perilous in the fall of 1962, when
the United States discovered
Soviet supplied missile installations in Cuba. United States President, John F.

Subcultures And Its Influence On Contemporary Society
Historically, subcultures found its definition originating in the early 1800s, with examples such as
bohemia and another example(ref). Whether subcultures still have an identifiable existence in today s
contemporary society is contentious pertaining to its difficulty in actual measurement. It is important
to look from a historical perspective at the features that define a subculture, and gives it the unique
identity that constitutes some discernible traits that differ from conventional society. This is to say that
the traits that make the subculture are not singular in their form, for they can be both abstract and
material. It is the intent of this essay to highlight such features and question if subcultures as a term,
should still be applicable in contemporary society. From Teddy Boys, mods and rockers, hells angels
to punks and even modern day terms for groups such as chavs, subcultures have throughout history
attempted to identify themselves from what is considered societies definition of normal (ref). This
form of indifference against the majority agreed upon social construction of society, is expressed in a
multitude of ways. The social constriction that minority groups feel in the respect of class
stratification, cultural, political, and religious beliefs result in sense of being ostracized (ref). Through
this constraint, the expression of subcultures emerges in the manifestation of unique socially
constructed ideas and beliefs. This typically goes hand in hand with

Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Freedom
If given the choice to live a life of either freedom or oppression, most would choose freedom.
However, in Aldous Huxley s Brave New world freedom is an option none of his characters possess.
Due to the global depression in the 1920s and 1930s, Aldous Huxley warns of individuality and self
perseverance in Brave New World.
World war 1 and the great depression had a large impact on BNW. Figures of WWI provided material
to BNW like [Benito Mussolini who] led an authoritarian government that fought against birth control
in order to produce enough manpower for the next war, [which] provided materials for huxley s
dystopia (Somaweb.org). Seeing that birth control has no existence in the book Huxley took a
different approach in the book. Once the great depression sets in people longed for the kind of
economic security that Huxley gives to the citizens of his fictional world. (Stdt nov. ). Those who were
going through difficult times, but didn t realize the disadvantages Huxley included especially longed
for their perfect utopia. However, technology seemed to flourish around this time items like electric
irons, toasters, refrigerators, air conditioners, radio, television and vacuum cleaners (Scott). The items
we have acquired now have really been taken for granted considering how life was back in the 1920s.
Huxley suffering from an eye illness was unable to participate in WWI, however, this not only
benefited him, but also those who would continue to read his works in

India And Pakistan Dbq
India and Pakistan emerged from British rule during 1947, while Algerians gained independence from
the French in 1962. However, each new nation rose in very ways. Great Britain attempted to avoid
war, while France fought one with their colony. The British cleverly gave India independence and
withdrew before fighting broke out, unlike the French who stubbornly retaliated against the violent
rebellions of native Algerians with guerrilla warfare. Recognizing India s partition between Hindus
and Muslims as a step towards war, the British government quickly withdrew and allowed India to
gain independence and settle its own affairs, an insightful choice as it ultimately avoided a civil war.

The end of WWII fueled Algeria s nationalist sentiments when successful countries called other
countries to rise up against their colonial rulers (Bentley 895). The French realized that its various
colonies were trying to gain independence and the French focused their authority on only Algeria,
allowing all other colonies to gain independence (Bentley 895). That action showed France s
determination to control Algeria, for resources, security of their own country, and their own honor.
Algeria, already motivated by nationalism, was triggered when French authorities fired shots into a
peaceful Algerian nationalist rally in Sétif (Bentley 895). Mass revolution broke out state wide. Unlike
the British in India or Pakistan, France dug in its heels and sent half a million troops to combat
rebellions, but that just further inspired the revolutionaries (Bentley 895). They kept fighting the
Algerian rebels instead of avoiding violence. One man who helped motivate insurrection was a man
named Frantz Fanon who supported Algerian independence, specifically by using of violence (Bentley
896). In The Wretched of the Earth, he said violence is a cleansing force. It frees the native from his
inferiority complex and from his despair and inaction . It gives natives a reason to rebel because there
is a chance of success. Fanon

The Model Of The Osi Network Model
Five Layer Approach Abstract The current OSI network model has been around for a long time and
with the current transition of network use we need a model that has the ability to adapt. The ideas
which bought OSI into existence still apply today and even though it is having to keep up with new
technologies it is still the basis to our network models which are in place today. 1. Introduction The
OSI data model originated in 1977 and this model contained the original seven layer protocol. The
model has since been modified to be used with the changing protocols of the network whilst keeping
the seven layers. The seven layer OSI model has been able to cope with the updates but there are
duplications of operations which creates a redundancy in the model. 2. Proposed System The OSI data
model allows different operations to be performed in one layer but with the changing technologies we
are able perform more tasks simultaneously. The OSI model doesn t fully utilise this technology, this
is why the proposed system performs all the same operations whilst having less layers. The system
which is being proposed is a five layer system which still contains an Application layer. The five layer
system also has a Transport Layer, Network Layer and a physical layer similar to the original OSI
system. 3. Application Layer The Application Layer has been linked with the Presentation and Session
layer from the OSI model. These layers share a Protocol Data Limit which allows them to now

Civic culture In Yugoslavia Essay
One definition of ethnicity reads as followed identity with or membership in a particular racial,
national, or cultural group and observance of that group s customs, beliefs, or language . Ethnicity
defines many of us but a few want our definition to be cleansed and this is when civil conflict arises.
Ethnicity is frequently cited as an explanation for conflicts in the post cold war era. Yugoslavia, a
prime example of a system that encountered ethnic conflict that led to a violent civil war, consisted of
six republics and two autonomous districts. The government at the time wanted control of these
republics but the republics wanted to be free from government control. There was a push by several
ethnic groups to form their own sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These congruities of blood, speech, custom, and so on, are seen to have an ineffable, and at times
overpowering, coerciveness in and of themselves. One is bound to one s kinsman, one s neighbor, one
s fellow believer, ipso facto; as a result not merely of personal affection, practical necessity, common
interest, or incurred obligation but at least in great part by virtue of some unaccountable absolute
import attributed to the very tie itself. The general strength of such primordial bonds, and the types of
them that are important, differ from person to person, from society to society, and from time to time.
But for virtually every person, in every society, at almost all times, some attachments seem to flow
more from a sense of natural some would say spiritual affinity than from social interaction. The
cultural primordialist is easier to accept in today s modern world. For primordialists, ethnic bonds and
hatreds are fundamental to one s identity, meaning that conflicts between ethnic groups are inevitable.
Conflicts will by definition be extremely brutal and violent because there is no room for compromise
on one s spiritual ties and cultural beliefs.
Instrumentalist, the second field of thought is when you can differentiate groups from tribes and
identity is situational. In modernization it changes the class system within society but does not
necessarily lead to conflict. Instrumentalism is when ethnic conflict occurs when it

In the Hugh s Treats case, the customer whom the drone fell on and suffered serious head injuries can
take legal action against Hugh s treats and the manufacturer of the drones. Further, the wife of the man
who died as a result of food contamination can sue the sea food restaurant for the death of her husband
and for the poisoning she suffered. However, Hugh s Treats can also sue the manufacturer and
distributor of the drones for supplying defective products. In these cases, the plaintiffs must determine
that they have suffered damages as a result of the injuries. The customers can also sue the operator of
the drones. Malfunctions and crashes of drones are usually caused by manufacturing defects, which
places most of the liability to the manufacturer.

Eliminating Tuition Essay
In today society, in order to be successful people is told that they must go to post secondary and get a
degree. With the average tuition cost for a four year undergraduate is $5,959 (statistics Canada,2014),
for the 2014 to 2015 school year, most people cannot afford to pay that tuition out of pocket. The
Canadian and Province governments offer student loans for students but that puts them heavily into
debt. The average student debt is between $24,000 and $27,000 (Sagan, 2014, 5). The best way to help
students get a good education, so that they can go far in life is to eliminate tuition costs at post
secondary intuitions. Eliminating tuition cost would be very beneficial to students, but there are many
different ways of eliminating tuition, in Ontario they are using the grant system, France and Germany
also used a different way of eliminating tuition. Eliminating tuition though the grant system greatly ...

By using the grant system there is less impact on tax payers. If we were to use a system like Germany
were the government funded the universities that would put a huge burden on tax payers. The money
would have to come from tax payers or the money would have to come from somewhere else in our
budget. This would mean that some other department would suffer like healthcare or another
government agency. The government already has money set aside in the yearly budget for student
loans if we used the grant system the money is already there. It does not cost Canada any extra money.
Because of trying to implement capped tuition fees, some students might not have to take a grant or
they might not have to take a full grant. If not all students had to take a grant or they did not need a
full grant this would mean that there would be more grant money for other students. I think this is the
best system for eliminating tuition

Pilgrim s Host
No one likes to be the butt of a joke, Pilgrim Chaucer included. In the Prologue to Sir Thopas, the
Host, Harry Bailey, a crude, hulking man, taunts Pilgrim Chaucer by making fun of his quiet manners
and delicate appearance. Lacking a physical advantage over the Host, Pilgrim Chaucer wisely chooses
to get back at him by using his wits. Rather than getting upset over Harry s slurs, the Pilgrim takes his
revenge in a more subtle way by telling a tale guaranteed to irritate his Host: a lilting, ridiculous piece
of fluff about a hopelessly effeminate knight called Sir Thopas. Through the use of camp language and

The Art Of Technology And Schools Essay
The Art of Technology in Schools
All types of technology are becoming more prevalent everywhere. Everyone has a tablet,
laptop, smart phone, iPad or some type of technology in this day and age. It seems as if kids are
gaining more access to these technologies because of their schools. In schools students are being
given technology for homework and online textbooks now. Students are also getting exposure to
technology as teaching aids in schools as well. Many people believe that technology in class
rooms is a recipe for disaster. Students will just be distracted and not use the technology what it
is meant for. While there are disadvantages to the technology within schools as teaching aids and
free use technology for students; there are many advantages to these technologies, and ultimately
technology is very beneficial for students and teachers.
On the surface technology in the classroom as free use is just asking for distractions
during class. During lecture students are going to be on social media, YouTube, playing games,
or listening to music. As technology being a distraction is just one of the many disadvantages,
this is the biggest issue. In an article written by Kate Bane talking about technology being a
distraction she states:
And that lack of self discipline can cause a dip in student grades. Technology
often aids in classroom discussions and makes for faster note taking, but
sometimes the temptation to check email and social media during class does

The Era Of The 19th Century
Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires,
which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and Holy
Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to rise to
power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution was
coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large industrial
factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile manufacturing,
steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased due to new advances
in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the invention of the microscope,
became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of scientific upheaval was fueled by the
challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on
macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of
species, as well as microbiological concepts, such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of
the Cell Theory.
One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and
formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of
disease. As all theories at the time, Pasteur s work faced significant contention from his

  • 2. Gothic Architecture In The Renaissance The Renaissance was the following period after the Middle ages in European history. This period was the time of rebirth of the Roman and Greek education where people slowly began to turn back and reflect their ancestral way of mind. The Europeans, whose lives were so centered on the thought of their soul entering the afterlife and specifically Heaven has now diminished. They did not do action just because they had to, but they decided to do action for the better quality of human life. Europeans began to focus on the present, logic, reason, and the reality that even though they still considered themselves as Christians, they did not act the same way as they did in the past. In the Renaissance, most medieval idea was altered. The Catholic church in the medieval time was using gothic architecture that was flourishing throughout Europe. It had the flying buttresses that seemed to reach out into Heaven, but by the time the Renaissance came along, it had longed been expired. The cathedrals built in this period was constructed with the classical style of the Romanesque era. Therefore, the ones like the cathedral built by Brunelleschi in Florence does not have the gothic flying buttresses, but instead, the Roman dome. Now, the cathedrals were built so that God has seemed like He was amongst the people. The style of music was also influenced by the time of the Renaissance. Music was no longer under the full control of the Church. Instead, Europeans began to play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Types of parental power indicate the methods parents use to exert their influence on the child (Vargas, Busch Rossnagel, Montero Sieburth, and Villarruel, 2000). However, a recent study found that Hispanic children who are between the ages of four and six often struggle with depression, anxiety, and somatization due to common parenting styles within Hispanic culture (Cohen, 2015). In fact, there are many Hispanic children are still baptized as Catholics (Social Issues Reference, 2010). Hispanic families have strong and supportive family relationships and genuine parenting practice. Most studies found that family cohesion helps to maintain adolescent s behaviors, decrease negative outcomes, and promote psychological well being. For example, family cohesion has been found to decrease the risk of conduct problems and rule breaking among Mexican origin adolescents (Marsiglia, Parsai, Kulis, 2009). Typically, Hispanic adolescents who associate with higher levels of family cohesion reduce the rate of consuming alcohol and illicit drug as well as depress symptoms. • 8. Essay On The Idaho State Standards And The True Story Of... I have known for some time that my weakest area on Charlette Danielson s Framework for Teaching is asking questions that require higher order thinking. As a first grade teacher there is so much information that I am presenting to them that we move at a very fast pace. I am constantly checking for understanding, but my questions focus on knowledge and comprehension. I rarely take time for lengthy discussions that allow the children to express their opinions and interpretation of the information presented. The Idaho State Standards and the Danielson framework make it clear that this is an area I need to focus on and that I must make time for it in my very hectic schedule. I developed a plan of action to assist me in this process and set a goal to have 80% of my students score a 70% or higher on their written reading responses and a 3 or higher on their oral reading ... We talked about whose point of view the stories were told from, we struggled with this and it required a lot of modeling and scaffolding, and we also constructed new endings for the stories. Then we moved on to two new stories, The Three Little Pigs and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf . Each time the oral and written responses improved but they still required a great deal of teacher mediation. The second assessment revealed that only 24% of my student had met the oral target and 31% had met the written. My kids were making great progress, but we had started out much lower than I had anticipated. Day seven brought the great debate. Unfortunatley there was not much of a debate. They all believed the wolf because the title stated that it was the true story. They did however support their opinions with evidence. They did a wonderful job creating their posters representing the moral of the story, my favorite was work hard or be eaten , but we struggled desperately to create interview questions for the story ... Both George Bernard Shaw s Mrs. Warren s Profession and Thomas Hardy s The Ruined Maid deal with the representation of female sexuality through prostitution and brothels. This is portrayed as empowering for the women involved despite societal conditions forcing this role, yet deals with the reaction from society very differently. Both texts also deal with the social stigma that surrounds prostitution and the utilization of female sexuality in different way while both having the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mrs. Warren s Profession, the concept of women viewing prostitution and brothels as the only means for upward social mobility or even just survival is not shied away from. In a preface from the play in 1902, Shaw himself is quoted as saying No normal woman would be a professional prostitute if she could better herself by being respectable . This also ties into the reason that Mrs. Warren is not portrayed as helpless or a victim for being a prostitute/ part of the brothel, rather having the blame placed on the societal and economic conditions that led to her choosing this occupation (Liggins 50). This also ties back to Shaw s intention of throwing the responsibility and guilt of Mrs. Warren s choices back on the British public themselves rather than on the individual. This sentiment is also felt in The Ruined Maid , as it proposes that the only reason for Melia s current place in society is due to her being ruined, as prior she was poor and uneducated on the farm (Hardy 5 11). The text alludes that her pre marital fornication allowed her upward mobility, and it may have been the only way to achieve it. Through being ruined, Melia has improved herself both socially and intellectually (Renner 25). Another comparison between the two texts is the acceptance of other female characters that the decision made good financial sense to join the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fear is defined as: a feeling of agitation or anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger. An example of fear in one of the stories is Leonard in Blowing up on the Spot, because he fears death and it controls and restricts his life. Whether subcultures still have an identifiable existence in today s contemporary society is contentious pertaining to its difficulty in actual measurement. It is important to look from a historical perspective at the features that define a subculture, and gives it the unique identity that constitutes some discernible traits that differ from conventional society. This is to say that the traits that make the subculture are not singular in their form, for they can be both abstract and material. The seven layer OSI model has been able to cope with the updates but there are duplications of operations which creates a redundancy in the model. 2. Proposed System The OSI data model allows different operations to be performed in one layer but with the changing technologies we are able perform more tasks simultaneously. The OSI model doesn t fully utilise this technology, this is why the proposed system performs all the same operations whilst having less layers. The system which is being proposed is a five layer system which still contains an Application layer. The five layer system also has a Transport Layer, Network Layer and a physical layer similar to the original OSI system. 3. Application Layer The Application Layer has been linked with the Presentation and Session layer from the OSI model. These layers share a Protocol Data Limit which allows them to now ... • 31. Civic culture In Yugoslavia Essay One definition of ethnicity reads as followed identity with or membership in a particular racial, national, or cultural group and observance of that group s customs, beliefs, or language . Ethnicity defines many of us but a few want our definition to be cleansed and this is when civil conflict arises. Ethnicity is frequently cited as an explanation for conflicts in the post cold war era. Yugoslavia, a prime example of a system that encountered ethnic conflict that led to a violent civil war, consisted of six republics and two autonomous districts. The government at the time wanted control of these republics but the republics wanted to be free from government control. There was a push by several ethnic groups to form their own sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These congruities of blood, speech, custom, and so on, are seen to have an ineffable, and at times overpowering, coerciveness in and of themselves. One is bound to one s kinsman, one s neighbor, one s fellow believer, ipso facto; as a result not merely of personal affection, practical necessity, common interest, or incurred obligation but at least in great part by virtue of some unaccountable absolute import attributed to the very tie itself. The general strength of such primordial bonds, and the types of them that are important, differ from person to person, from society to society, and from time to time. But for virtually every person, in every society, at almost all times, some attachments seem to flow more from a sense of natural some would say spiritual affinity than from social interaction. The cultural primordialist is easier to accept in today s modern world. For primordialists, ethnic bonds and hatreds are fundamental to one s identity, meaning that conflicts between ethnic groups are inevitable. Conflicts will by definition be extremely brutal and violent because there is no room for compromise on one s spiritual ties and cultural beliefs. Instrumentalist, the second field of thought is when you can differentiate groups from tribes and identity is situational. In modernization it changes the class system within society but does not necessarily lead to conflict. Instrumentalism is when ethnic conflict occurs when it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Chinese Immigrants My research experience so far has been quite smooth, I have been able to read and uncover a variety of sources that contain valuable information about the Chinese immigrants of the late 1800s. More importantly, the sources that I have found are all different; some of my sources are articles, others are flyers, and I even found political cartoons. Learning form a diverse selection of sources has allowed to learn about the situation through different lenses. I have not experienced any frustration through my research, but I am slightly annoyed at the lack of memorial and remembrance for a massive part of U.S. history, especially due to the inhumane treatment of a large groups of people. Toronto has a significantly large memorial for the Chinese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Eliminating Tuition Essay In today society, in order to be successful people is told that they must go to post secondary and get a degree. With the average tuition cost for a four year undergraduate is $5,959 (statistics Canada,2014), for the 2014 to 2015 school year, most people cannot afford to pay that tuition out of pocket. The Canadian and Province governments offer student loans for students but that puts them heavily into debt. The average student debt is between $24,000 and $27,000 (Sagan, 2014, 5). The best way to help students get a good education, so that they can go far in life is to eliminate tuition costs at post secondary intuitions. Eliminating tuition cost would be very beneficial to students, but there are many different ways of eliminating tuition, in Ontario they are using the grant system, France and Germany also used a different way of eliminating tuition. Eliminating tuition though the grant system greatly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using the grant system there is less impact on tax payers. If we were to use a system like Germany were the government funded the universities that would put a huge burden on tax payers. The money would have to come from tax payers or the money would have to come from somewhere else in our budget. This would mean that some other department would suffer like healthcare or another government agency. The government already has money set aside in the yearly budget for student loans if we used the grant system the money is already there. It does not cost Canada any extra money. Because of trying to implement capped tuition fees, some students might not have to take a grant or they might not have to take a full grant. If not all students had to take a grant or they did not need a full grant this would mean that there would be more grant money for other students. I think this is the best system for eliminating tuition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Pilgrim s Host No one likes to be the butt of a joke, Pilgrim Chaucer included. In the Prologue to Sir Thopas, the Host, Harry Bailey, a crude, hulking man, taunts Pilgrim Chaucer by making fun of his quiet manners and delicate appearance. Lacking a physical advantage over the Host, Pilgrim Chaucer wisely chooses to get back at him by using his wits. Rather than getting upset over Harry s slurs, the Pilgrim takes his revenge in a more subtle way by telling a tale guaranteed to irritate his Host: a lilting, ridiculous piece of fluff about a hopelessly effeminate knight called Sir Thopas. Through the use of camp language and phallic symbols, Geoffrey Chaucer, in his poem the Tale of Sir Thopas, creates a mocking counterpoint to his Host, and exposes Harry s ... Also, Sir Thopas s knightly skills and bravery are sorely lacking. He hunts only the nonthreatening deer and rabbit. • 36. The Art Of Technology And Schools Essay The Art of Technology in Schools All types of technology are becoming more prevalent everywhere. Everyone has a tablet, laptop, smart phone, iPad or some type of technology in this day and age. It seems as if kids are gaining more access to these technologies because of their schools. In schools students are being given technology for homework and online textbooks now. Students are also getting exposure to technology as teaching aids in schools as well. Many people believe that technology in class rooms is a recipe for disaster. Students will just be distracted and not use the technology what it is meant for. While there are disadvantages to the technology within schools as teaching aids and free use technology for students; there are many advantages to these technologies, and ultimately technology is very beneficial for students and teachers. On the surface technology in the classroom as free use is just asking for distractions during class. During lecture students are going to be on social media, YouTube, playing games, or listening to music. As technology being a distraction is just one of the many disadvantages, this is the biggest issue. In an article written by Kate Bane talking about technology being a distraction she states: And that lack of self discipline can cause a dip in student grades. Technology often aids in classroom discussions and makes for faster note taking, but sometimes the temptation to check email and social media during class does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Era Of The 19th Century Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires, which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and Holy Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to rise to power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution was coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large industrial factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile manufacturing, steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased due to new advances in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the invention of the microscope, became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of scientific upheaval was fueled by the challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of species, as well as microbiological concepts, such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of the Cell Theory. One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of disease. As all theories at the time, Pasteur s work faced significant contention from his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
