Summary Of The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian
The Spirit of a True Diary g
Many people know Sherman Alexie as an award winning poet, author, and filmmaker. It should be no
surprise that his first venture into the young adult genre brought forth a masterpiece, The Absolutely
True Diary of a Part time Indian. Although intended for a younger audience, anybody would enjoy this
informative and humorous novel that covers difficult topics including poverty, racism and struggling
with identity while growing up. The novel is written as a first person narrative from the perspective a
teenager living on the Spokane Indian Reservation, inspired by events from Alexie s own life. Being
semi autobiographical gives the story an authenticity that can move any audience. The emotionally
charged coming of age story is sure to make you laugh and cry.
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian is the account of Arnold Spirit Jr. or Junior as he s
called, in his first year of high school. Growing up on a reservation he faces medical concerns,
poverty, hounding from bullies and the difficulties of a community suffering from alcoholism. He is
encouraged by a reservation teacher to escape the low expectations of people around him and makes
the decision to switch to an all white high school in the nearby off reservation town Reardan,
Washington. This sparks the main controversy of the novel as Junior struggles to navigate the clashing
worlds of the reservation and white public school. While attempting to find friends among his new

Theme Of Hoosiers
Hoosiers is a film based on a true story about a small Indiana farming town s high school basketball
team and it s new coach Norman Dale, who is a former successful collage basketball coach but was
ultimately fired from said coaching job after striking one of his own players. Now hired as the new
head coach of the Hickory high school he must persuade his the people of Hickory that he is the right
man for the job to lead the team to the state championships.
There are four themes that come up during the movie. They are the four virtues: wisdom, temperance,
justice and courage. According to Plato wisdom is to judge certain situations or even people relating to
specific actions based on pass knowledge it is also assigned to rulers, in this case ... Show more

This reflects the presence of justice in sport which is not totally present in other areas life because in
sport no matter a teams win/loss record or how many times a team will win championships, the fans
still attend games, the player still play and the coaches still coach. When comparing to other areas of
life such as a normal desk job, if you don t complete your work that is assigned to you even though
your efforts were strong, you are most likely to get fired. In sport although coaches do get fired often
they usually find another coaching job, same for the players. Also in sport there is always a chance to
win the championship the following year, but in a normal desk job you usually don t have the chance
to do the assignment your boss gave you the following year . There are many second chances for
players and coaches in the world of sport that is hard to find in other areas of

They may have some good long term prospects that they can borrow against to meet their current
obligations. Overall, liquidity is not a strength for Walmart due to both low quick ratio and current
ratio. Asset management In 2011, Walmart s inventory turnover was 11.62 and the industry average
was 10.4(stock analysis). It s fixed asset turnover was 3.88 and the industry average was 3.56, and it s
total asset turnover was 2.34 and the industry average was 1.56(Stock analysis). The values calculated
for all three ratios mentioned all resulted in substantially different values in a positive way (Appendix
B). Historically the values of each ratio have maintained relatively constant, which in this case is not a
weakness. Asset management is a strength for Walmart, which ultimately means that they are
maintaining their assets in the correct manner in order to have an efficient way of business. Debt
Management In 2011, Walmart s debt to equity ratio was that of 72.75 while the industry average was
55 and it exceeded the range of comparability by a significant amount(Stock analysis)(Appendix B).
The debt to equity ratio indicates how much debt a company has for every dollar of shareholders
equity. Walmart s value of 72.75 is high especially when considering the trend for the past three years.
One reason for Walmart s high debt to equity ratio could be that they have been aggressive in
financing their growth with

DELEGATION AND DECENTRALIZATION
Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralization
In an organization, centralized way of making a decision entails less autonomy to everyone except the
central leadership. In contrast, decentralization involves delegation of responsibility and the associated
decision making powers across various levels in the organization. Let us discover the pros and cons of
this concept.
A central command structure derives from an autocratic style of management. Autocracy is not
necessarily an intention and could be incidental. For example, typically start ups and business that
have just been founded are naturally autocratic with the founding members primarily running the
show. Gradually, as the business grows and the headcount expands, the ... Show more content on

The adoption of organizational standards and best practices is also facilitated by a decentralized setup.
Transparency in process ensures that it is easy for the various local teams to emulate and adopt the
methods and processes that brought success to a team located elsewhere.
One of the major advantages of decentralized way of taking decisions is witnessed during a sudden
change in the local business environment such as the onset of recession or currency devaluation, etc.
Businesses are able to respond and adapt quickly to these changes when authority is decentralized.
Retail businesses like Walmart and hotel chains often benefit from having a decentralized style of
management. Businesses, where quick decisions amidst fast paced changes in environment are the
order of the day, stand to benefit from decentralization.
Disadvantages of Decentralization
Too much emphasis on localized way of taking decisions may end up blurring the bigger picture. As
you go down the corporate ladder, employees seem to lose sight of the organizational vision.
A highly decentralized organization can be the battleground for unhealthy competition between local
managers leading to lack of co operation and coordination. As a result, interdependent functions may
suffer and resolving interdepartmental conflicts is difficult when authority has been delegated. In
addition, there is costly duplication

Characterization And Internal Characterism In Kurt...
The world isn t perfect, true but it shouldn t have to be, we are humans and we make mistakes.
Sometimes we wish everything could be perfect, yet that may end up making things worse. We
shouldn t try to be perfect like Dr. Hitz thinks it should be. We should just be thankful for what we
have now. In 2BRO2B, Kurt Vonnegut uses characterization and internal conflict to stress the idea
sometimes things aren t as perfect as they seem. Kurt Vonnegut uses Characterization to develop the
fact that things aren t as perfect as they seem. He does this by mentioning different points of views for
different characters. He or she is going to live on a happy, roomy, clean, rich planet, thanks to
population control. Dr. Hitz says how good of a life Wehling s child is going to live due to population
control, this shows how he views population control. Dr. Hitz believes that having set up the very first
gas chamber for population control is an accomplishment. Leora Duncan admires Dr. Hitz and that s
why she s beyond thankful to stand next to him in the portrait being painted of the happy garden of
life. This shows how some people feel about Dr. Hitz and honor him for making the first gas chamber.
Wehling, on the other hand, thinks it s wrong when he has to pick which of his three children he wants
to live because he only has one volunteer to be executed in the gas chamber. All I have to do is pick
out which one of the triplets is going to live, then deliver my maternal grandfather to

Critical Analysis Of Sonnet 130
Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare is undoubtedly one of the most influential pieces of poetry in the
history of humankind. It is a standard 14 line Shakespearian sonnet that describes the beauty of a
woman in comparison the beauties of the world the speaker admires the most. Unlike Petrarch whose
sonnets about the beauty of Beatrice were all aimed at picturing the godlike appearance and the
personal traits of his beloved woman, sonnet 130 by Shakespeare goes in the opposite direction. This
particular sonnet is unusual and, in a certain regard, revolutionary for the late renaissance poetry as it
steps back from the image of the woman as a goddess, a heavenly angel who delights the world with
her presence. Sonnet 130 describes a woman as she really is, a woman with flaws, a woman who is
not the most beautiful one in existence, a woman who might not be compared to the most admirable
wonders of the world yet a woman whom the speaker loves dearly and considers the most important
woman in his life.
Shakespeare starts the sonnet with comparing the physical traits of his mistress to the beauties of the
world. The comparison, as it was said above, is not usual for the poetry of the time. Precisely, the
comparison does not relate to the features of the described woman:
My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (Shakespeare).
The author admits that there are wonders in the world that are far more superior to the beauty of his
mistress. He admits it fairly and without hesitations. The author knows what his beloved woman really
is, he is realistic about her and, at this point, this feature of the sonnet makes it the most outstanding
example of the late renaissance literature. The author seems to abandon the overexaggerated beauty
standards of the time, he leaves behind the cliches of his era and allows himself to be as realistic as no
one dared to be before. He does speak of an angel who came to our world as a gift from the Kingdom
of Heaven, he speaks of an earthly woman whose beauty is not as evident as the beauty of Beatrice
from Petrarchan sonnets. The beauty of the speaker s

Social Policies And Welfare And Social Issues
Social policies are public policies of which the government uses for welfare and social issues.
Welfare, according to American Politics Today, is the financial or other assistance provided to
individuals by the government, usually based on need (Bianco 448). These welfare programs play a
role in citizen s lives, especially those of low income. However, in some instances, they are there to
help the wealthy as well, such as bailouts of the financial sector. As the textbook reads, the persistence
of poverty remains the primary motivator for most social policy today (Bianco 450). The rapid growth
of social policy is proving that the rate of income inequality in the United States is growing at a steady
pace. For example, the income distribution from 1979 to 2009 the average income of the top 1 percent
grew by $700,000 to $1,220,100 (a 133 percent gain), compared to a $2,600 gain to $18,900 (16
percent) for the bottom fifth of the income levels. The wealth gap is even greater: the median networth
of U.S. households in 2007 was $120,300, but the median wealth for the top 10 percent was $1.89
million, and this group held 73 percent of that nation s wealth (Bianco 450). The economy in America
has an unequal wealth distribution where a small percentage of the population posses most of the
wealth in the country, while the rest of the country has little to spare. This leads to poverty and income
inequality. To measure income equality economists often measure how much income

Compare And Contrast College Football And Pro Football
Many of the fans think college football is better than pro football, but I think this is not true. Each of
the programs have differences and we should respect this, but they also have similarities as well. They
also have rules which the players have to follow. Although the penalties are severe, the nfl and college
football, have the same rules which many of the players think are fair. Also, many of the players
respect the history behind it and encourage other players to do the same.
Many of the rules which are the same are significant and should be followed by both the pro football
players and the college players. Holding penalties for the defence are both ten yards from the last dead
ball spot and a first down for the offence, or on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a team and another team tie the game, they have what is called overtime. In this period, the first
team who scores a touchdown before the other team does, wins the game. Both teams have three
timeouts, and has a chance to touch the football and try to score a touchdown. This situation is led off
of a coin flip which decides what team gets the football first.
There are some similarities about the stadiums which host the team who is playing another(away)
team. Most stadiums have a hall of fame or a historic piece of history which stands today. Many of
these stadiums are very expensive and many are asking why they have the stadiums in the first place.
The length of each football field are one hundred yards and have two end zones, which you get points
when one person walks or runs into it.
Next, is the differences. One of the differences is about the rules. One of the rules is when the players
take drugs when the doctor did not prescribe it to them, it is an offence. The penalty for college is ban
for more than three games, and for pro football, it is four or more games. Many of the pro football
players get paid and the college football players do not get paid at all, because they are in school and
they can t do anything to get paid for just playing

The Value Of The Cash Flow
Part: B
Net Present Value (NPV) calculates the present value of the cash flow which is based on the
opportunity cost of capital and comes up with a value that is added to the wealth of the shareholders if
that project is accepted.
Apart from Net present Value (NPV) there are a couple of more methods for investment appraisal such
as internal rate of return (IRR), Payback period (PBP) and Profitability Index (PI).
Net Present Value (NPV) vs. Payback Period (PBP):
Payback period calculates the period in which the initial amount invested in the project is recovered.
The project is accepted or rejected based on the benchmark set by the firm. If the payback period is
less than or equal to the benchmark the firm will accept the project and ... Show more content on

Such a problem does not exist with NPV.
Net Present Value (NPV) vs. Profitability Index (PI)
Profitability index is a ratio between the discounted cash inflow to the initial cash outflow. It presents
a value which says how many times of the investment is the returns in the form of discounted cash
flows.
The disadvantage associated with this method again is its relativity. A project can have same
profitability index with different investments and vast difference in absolute dollar return. NPV has an
upper hand in this case.
Conclusion:
We have noted that almost all the difficulties are survived by net present value and that is why it is
considered to be the best way to analyze, evaluate, and select big investment projects. At the same
time, the estimation of cash flows requires carefulness because if the cash flow estimation is wrong,
NPV is bound to be misleading.
A small problem with NPV is that it also considers the same discounting rate for both cash inflow and
outflows. We know that there are differences between borrowing and lending rates. Modified internal
rate of return is another method which is little more complex but improved which takes care of the
difference between borrowing and lending rates also as it discounts cash inflows at lending rates and
cash outflow at borrowing rates.

Should Cancer Patients Use Nanotechnology Essay
Should Cancer Patients use Nanotechnology?
Did you know that about 1,688,780 new types of cancer have been found in the United States, killing
more than 600,920 people? Cancer has been known as the second leading cause of death in the United
States just after Chronic Heart Disease. Fortunately, researchers have found a way to prevent and cure
cancer and that is by using Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is a branch in the science field that deals
with dimensions less than 100 nanometers, which is about a billionth of a meter. Furthermore,
scientists predict that Nanotechnology can lead to a breakthrough in the medical field of Oncology.
Not only that, but researchers have now found a way to tune the nanoparticles so that the ... Show

Therefore, the drug presented in the microbot can produce more RNA to help defeat the cancerous
cells and tumors.
Lastly, Nanotechnology can help doctors find cancer cells in a patient and they have the opportunity to
give early medications to the patients diagnosed with cancer. Currently, doctors can use
Nanotechnology to detect the minuscule cancer tumors present in millimeters of saliva and blood. As
illustrated in the research done by the Stanford University, We can now detect just a few cancer
associated molecules or circulating tumor cells in the body in just a few milliliters of blood or saliva,
or map the boundaries of a brain tumor within millimeters to assess its response to therapy or to plan a
surgery, Rajiv Gambhir said. We ve specially designed nanoparticles that can send back a massively
amplified, whopping signal when they bind to cancer cells in the colon, and we re working on ways to
trigger the self assembly of nanoparticles when they enter a cancer cell. The field has advanced
tremendously in the past 10 to 15 years (Gambhir). Therefore, if doctors can detect cancer tumors or
cancer cells in the body, then they can offer required diagnostics and early treatment to the patient
before the tumor develops and starts to multiply. As shown above, cancer can be detected when it is at
an early stage

The Broken Head And The Real Friendship
The Broken Head and the Real Friendship The day had been perfect, till I got the call... I awoke to the
smell of light, fluffy pancakes slathered in maple syrup, and greasy, fat bacon, just how I like it. Shea,
come downstairs and eat! We have to leave by 10, My dad yelled from the kitchen. Our cousins had
invited us to go to their lake house at Cedar Creek Lake; we accepted with enthusiasm because we had
never seen it before. Coming right down. I shouted back to my dad. Hopping out of bed, I pulled on
my favorite t shirt and most comfortable shorts, stuffed some clothes into a small duffel bag, and
pounded down the stairs. We left at 11, late as usual. All five of us squeezed in the silver Volvo, hip to
hip, blasting country music as we ventured into the Dallas suburbs. At 11:35 AM, my phone buzzed
and Cammy Davis , my best friend Eliza s mom, name lit up on the screen. This is odd, Cammy rarely
calls me. Shouldn t Eliza call me instead? Turning down the music, I answered the phone. Hey
Cammy! What s up? I asked. Are you in Dallas? She asked in a panicked voice, but I could hardly
hear her because of the cacophony from the other line. I wondered where she was. Burberry, Eliza s
horse, bucked her off and now Eliza is unconscious, she has been for the last six minutes. I am in an
ambulance and we are going down to Presbyterian Hospital, come if you want. I just thought you

a hypothetical public execution whereas the audience would consume the event similar to how we
would a sporting event. The Author pieces together a very exaggerated representation of a public

The Importance Of Team Communication Essay
Abstract The focus of this paper is to show how communication is a very vital and important factor in
a team s success. I will cover how it helps to identify each individual team member s role. I will
discuss how team communication helps everyone in the team to understand the end goal, and I will
also discuss how communication is a vital part of project planning within the team.
The Importance of Team Communication
Team dynamics is the unseen force that pulls and influences a team to act and react in a certain way,
according to BusinessKnowledgeSource.com (2003). A good team is the one very important element
that makes any company successful. Not only is this important to the employer, but this is also
important to the success of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A mission statement is a brief statement with the intention of keeping all members informed of their
purpose and this also helps to communicate to the members what steps are involved in reaching that
desired goal and why these steps are important in the process to achieve the goals set by the
organization for the team to achieve, without this clearly communicated mission statement it is hard to
understand what your purpose is. A team s mission statement basically establishes the boundaries of
your group s work and how they fit into that organization, it just provides a reasonable and measurable
objective for your team s work and lets other groups see what you are responsible for or not
responsible for, it should basically state a list of what is needed to be accomplished and how to
accomplish it. (Levinson, 2008)
A common mistake made by team leaders to often is that every member within a team automatically
understand their role within the team. One of the initial tasks of a team leader is to clearly assign
individual tasks and responsibilities. In order for every member to understand exactly what their role
within the team is, their must be good, open communication from both parties. If a team member is
unclear of their duty, they must communicate with their team leader by asking questions, this also
helps

Descriptive Essay About Water
I frantically piled sand on top of sand. I was trying to build my dream sandcastle independently,
without anyone s help. The moist, dark sand kept falling apart though, I gave up. With the bow in my
hair and swimsuit full of sand, I ran over to my Dad.
Daddy, my sand castle keeps falling down. Can you help me?
My Dad, with a broad smile on his face, scooped me into his big, loving arms. He walked over with
me in his arms to a smooth spot of sand, and together we built a fascinating sand castle.
When we were finished, he took my tiny, sandy hand in his, and my thick little fingers clung to his

I love you very much, my little princess.
It was then the giant majestic waves tugged at my tiny feet like a rope tugging me into itself. His
protective hand held mine even tighter as I tried to pull away. I wanted to go play in the playful waves.
Daddy, I want to play in the ocean.
Okay, but I ll come with you to make sure the waves don t pull you away.
No, Daddy. I want to go in by myself. And with that independent statement, I ran into the waves,
which welcomed me with full force. They filled my senses with a sharp, salty smell, the foam blinded

Surgical Wound Care Case Study
Problem 1
Wound Care
Justification
Dougherty and Lister (2011) stated that it is important to keep post surgical wound free from infection
because the healing of the wound depends on the amount of care being provided. There are potential
complications associated with infected post surgical wound, which includes wound dehiscence,

therefore, high priority should be place on wound care for a patient who has had a resection of recto

Emperor Jimmu
Emperor Jimmu, the first Emperor of Japan, officially formed Japan in 660 Before Common Era
(BCE.) Throughout Japan s 2600 years of history, there have been many wars and conflicts fought
across Japan and the Pacific region. Through the ages, Japan has always had an Emperor at the head of
its government, although this role has changed through time. Japan saw many economic changes, the
biggest of which occurred after World War II (WWII). With Japan s history, woven in war throughout
the Pacific has become a model of strong political standing and near immeasurable economic growth.
Japanese chronicles record Jimmu s expedition heading eastward from Hyuga in 607 BCE, continuing
along Japan s inland sea, subduing tribes as he went, and ending in Yamato, where he centered his
power (Jimmu Legendary Emperor of Japan, 2016.) Emperor Jimmu, formally Jimmu Tenno, is said

Exile In The Kite Runner
Exile is defined as expulsion from one s native land by authoritative decree. Meaning one cannot go
back to the place in which they were born and raised. Although, Mahmoud Darwish has a different
take on exile saying Exile is more than just a geographical concept. You can be an exile in your
homeland, in you own house, in a room. Exile is also a theme in The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
The quote relates to the theme of exile in novel because of Hassan s departure from the house causing
Amir to leave his homeland and childhood without him. Ali and Hassan left the house because they
did not feel welcome anymore. After everything Amir did, Ali resolves to tell Baba that him and
Hassan are leaving (Hosseini 106). Like what the Mahmoud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Amir returned to Afghanistan he stood outside the gates of [his] father s house, feeling like a
stranger, [he] set [his] hands on the rusting metal bars, remembering (Hosseini 261). Amir saw the
house, but was not able to go inside because it did not belong to him anymore. Even though, he was
flooded with memories of his childhood and the days when he was happy. Especially the people of his
childhood, particularly Hassan. All this saddens him and Farid advises him nothing that you
remembered has survived, best to forget (Hosseini 263). A room is where one spends most of their
time, and therefore is where many of their memories take place. There is nothing significant about a
room but it is about the memories that take place in and around the room that make it significant.
Since Amir was exiled from the room he was also exiled from the childhood memories that took place
there. The only proof of the events of his childhood was no longer in the room but only in his mind.
Meaning the advice gave about forgetting would be unthinkable. In a changed Afghanistan there was
one thing that hadn t changed about Kabul at all: the kabobs were still succulent and delicious as [he]
remembered (Hosseini 265). This gives a speck of hope about the Kabul of his childhood, but it
seemed to be the only thing. That is why Farid gave him the advice to forget.

The Pros And Cons Of Governor Rick Snyder
Let s be real right now not a lot of people like Governor Rick Snyder right now or for a while, a many
people do like Rick Snyder. There must be a reason Rick Snyder is still governor because if he was
that bad he would be out of office already. Think about it, if you were Rick, would you do the same? If
your image was in jeopardy, would you have done the same? I agree with the other side that he should
have brought up the issue earlier because he furthered the damage of the trust that he had with the
people of Michigan. Rick Snyder is a good governor; he has done a lot of good things. That is why
many people believe that Rick Snyder should still be governor after this ordeal. My reasons are that he

If you just stop and think for one moment and say to yourself, wait he is not the only person in the

have known they are above the president and if they didn t bring up the issue before time then it is
their fault. Now do you see that if you open your mind to more possibilities you wouldn t be blind.
Other people might say that Rick Snyder should not be governor because he is the reason for all of this
mess he is the worst governor, he put the lives of children in jeopardy, but we all believe they are
wrong. We all real people in Michigan think that there are other people to blame like the congress.
Secondly, he s been in office for a long time. And lastly, it is the state s fault, not just Ricks. We don t

goals, stated in such a way as to define what business the company is in or to be in and the kind of

Ted Gardner s Theory Of Multiple Intelligences
You re a genius! As this compliment rings in your head imagine that someone is referring to your
ability to understand yourself, or even your ability to interact with other people. Under Gardner s
Theory of multiple intelligences each and every one of us have different intelligence strengths, our
individual strengths are important in how we develop. Possibly making more unconventional
geniuses. Knowing and acknowledging our strengths can help us to excel in life at different levels.
Most of us are a combination of many different intelligences. Normally with one or two that are
stronger than the others. Like many others you might be thinking intelligence only in reference to a
high IQ, and knowledge these other so called intelligences are too broad, but I believe you couldn t be
more incorrect. These are possible new ideas for you but consider the fact that we all learn differently
if we all had the same type of intelligence than we would all learn the exact same way. As we know
this clearly not true. After deep reflection and some research I believe my strongest intelligence is
Interpersonal intelligence. Strong interpersonal intelligence are people who are good at understanding
and interacting with others nonverbally and verbally. Usually more talented in assessing the emotions
and desires of those around them. My second strongest intelligence is intrapersonal intelligences
describe as one s ability to know and understand them self. It is believed that these

The death penalty was established in the eighteenth century BC, two main reasons the death penalty
was put into place was with the hope of reducing capital crime because of the result being in death and
the believe that criminals who did a crime so bad that qualify for death row did not deserve to live, but
that system is no longer believed to be effective anymore. According to U.S Newswire fifty seven
percent of police chiefs agreed that the death penalty does little to prevent violent crimes because
perpetrators rarely consider the consequences when engaged in violence(2). The death penalty is also
ineffective because ninety percent of offenders can not afford an adequate criminal defence lawyer.
This shows that only ten percent of offenders are getting the right defence against higher punishments
and charges. Some people argue that the death penalty is effective because people who qualify for

The Controversy Over Voter Identification Laws Essay
In 2002, with the intention of updating election technology, hampering voter fraud, and increasing
faith in the electoral system, President George W. Bush signed into law the Help America Vote Act
(Gerken 14). Since the implementation of this act, controversial voter identification laws have begun
springing up all over the country. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, thirty
one states require all voters to show ID before voting at the polls. In fifteen of these, the ID must
include a photo of the voter; in the remaining sixteen, non photo forms of ID are acceptable (Voter
Identification Requirements). In 2005 Indiana lawmakers passed one of the strictest voter
identification laws in the country requiring voters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Republican proponents claim that voter identification laws do not discourage those who are most
likely to vote from turning out to the polls. They also believe voter identification laws are vitally
essential to discourage voter fraud and to strengthen public trust in the electoral system (Gerken 40).
Looking closer at both sides of this continuing controversy will help to clarify each sides claims and
reveal any misinformation. Democrats, who almost unanimously oppose voter identification laws,
strongly feel that minority groups of voters, who tend to vote Democratic, are more likely to not have
the resources, knowledge, or means to have or obtain the necessary identification requirements for the
polls. In a research project developed by Matt A. Barreto, Stephen A. Nuño, and Gabriel R. Sanchez,
testing was conducted to determine the rates of access to valid photo identification among voters and
non voters in Indiana, with an eye towards specific demographic groups, such as the elderly and racial
minorities (Barreto, Nuño, and Sanchez 112). Indiana was selected because of its strict voter
identification law and for the ability to closely assess specific segments of the electorate under such a
law. Their research method, using a random telephone survey of 1,000 registered and 500 non
registered voters, was conducted in a way that was unbiased and provided the most reliable and
accurate results possible (Barreto, Nuño, and Sanchez

Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature
Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature
In the stories The Jewelry by Guy de Maupassant, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and The
Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the female characters are unequal and less important
than the men in society. The duties of women during this time period did not consist of much more
than seeing to her husband s needs and caring for the home and children. The authors show the lack of
independence women were allowed in the 1800s, especially in marriage. The stories express women s
cry for equality and their feelings of entrapment in their marriage. Each story elaborates on the

Space Race And The Space Race
When the United States of America was founded, no one knew how the American experiment would
develop. Over the centuries, the United States would face many trying challenges, continually dipping
into the patriotic ideals the country was founded on. Motivation to remain aligned with its ideological
foundation of life, liberty, and happiness became the American way, turning into an attempt at stability
in a shifting world. Majority of the time, the nation lacked unity, such as the Antebellum period
preceding the sectional Civil War. One result of such dividing conflicts facing America was its
increasing ability to adapt. America needed to learn how to fight in World War I, and how to stand up
against unprecedented powers in World War II. It needed to remain unified as the world around it
crumbled, usually taking the form of its rooted patriotism, rather than genuine interpersonal
community. As the military department was called on for aid during the wars, warfare technology was
greatly advanced. With such expansion, came conflict. The Soviet Union and The United States were
newly recognized as the world s super powers with the fall of Nazi Germany, the pair being equally
defensive and opinionated bodies standing for opposing ideals. They fought to prove them self the
superior nation, unable to satisfy the indignant competition, which was feeding into all fields of
governing. Most famously, the two bodies tumbled along the Space Race, a movement to one up each
other in the

HISTORY Located at the northern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, a three mile long strait
connects the San Francisco Bay to the nearby Pacific Ocean. This strait (named Golden Gate by U.S.
Army Captain John Freemont in 1846) separates the cities of San Francisco and Marin. Due to its
location near the Pacific, the strait is known for its strong tidal forces; as well as gale force winds and
dense fogs. Because of these conditions, during the early twentieth century, ferries provided the only
feasible form of transportation between the two cities. Following the end of World War I, San
Francisco city engineer Michael O Shaughnessy began challenging engineers to design and construct a

Soon after the pier (surrounded by a caisson) was placed in the water, a storm caused the nearby water
to churn. This water raised the caisson and continuously beat it into the fender. After removing the
pier, workers reinforced the fender with concrete; thus making the fender a part of the final
foundation. The pier was completed in January 1935; followed five months by the tower. Two months
after completing the towers, it was time to begin constructing the cables. Two main cables would
stretch from one anchorage to the other: passing over both of the towers. Using technology from the
company John A. Roebling s Sons, workers spun over 25,000 pencil thin wires into 7,650 foot long,
36.5 inch wide cables. With the advanced technology, workers were able to complete the construction
in less than seven months. In September 1936, workers completed the roadway steel. Eight months
later, workers complete and secure the road deck. This was achieved through the use of 254 sets of
suspender ropes, which were spaced fifty feet apart and extended to the main cables. These ropes help
to secure and support the weight of the new road.

Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table
Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table the
elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table they were
in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and mendeleev
periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian
chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements
known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table
much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven
horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or
families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new paradigm, with all of the elements
positioned within a logical matrix..
Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after

Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or periods
. But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the elements which
belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out the atomic mass of the
missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were discovered, Mendeleev turned
out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an undiscovered element that should fit
below aluminium in his table. When this element, called gallium, was discovered in 1875, its
properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions. Two other predicted elements were later
discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s

What is a particle accelerator?
A particle accelerator is a machine that is capable of accelerating particles to very high speeds. The
types of particles that are accelerated are protons, electrons and atomic nuclei. Particle accelerates
have a Particle Source which is where the particle is before it launched. It also has a Beam Pipe which
is where the particles travel around the machine. There are also electric fields, electromagnets,
detectors and targets. (Dotson, 2015) The electric fields are spaced out and create radio waves which
accelerate particles. The electromagnets help steer and focus the beam of particles when they travel
through the beam tube. (Dotson, 2015) The detectors and targets help record data of the particles
speed and behavior at high speeds.
Are there different types currently in use?
There are many designs of particle accelerators. Listed below are the type designs for a particle
accelerator: (Holzman, 2010)
· Electrostatic Accelerators
· Oscillating Field o The Linear Accelerator o The Cyclotron o The Synchrotron
There are over 30,000 accelerators around the world, and they use the designs above. (Witman, 2015)
Electrostatic Accelerators were the first particle accelerators ever made. These designs use circle paths
to accelerate the particles expect the linear accelerator. The circle paths are used because they will take

disorder will be identified before critically considering the difficulties regarding the diagnosis of
Social Phobia. Biological and psychosocial explanations will be explored and evaluated appropriately
in order to gain a better understanding of this disorder. Furthermore, the treatments in terms of

also be addressed as Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD); the scientific name for this disorder is
Anthropophobia , which according to Right Diagnosis (2014) means an irrational fear of people or
groups of people. The National Health Service (2014) describes Anthropophobia or Social Phobia as a
tenacious fear of social situations and people; furthermore, the NHS credits Social Phobia to be the
most common anxiety disorder. According to the International Classification of Diseases 2010 (ICD

The Original Marxist Ideology Of Populism In Venezuela
Food sovereignty programs have become a phenomenon in Latin American countries that have left
neoliberalism and are looking for an independent future. Venezuela has attempted for the past 15 years
to create it s own food sovereignty program to move the country away from an import dependent
economy. The Venezuelan government has struggled to obtain the traditional sense of food
sovereignty because of its history with petrol crisis in the 80 s and its current populist regimes that
moved away from peasant focused agriculture movement. The country does not fit into the original
Marxist ideology of food sovereignty, because it did not account for a society that did not have enough
people to grow the food to feed the population of the entire country. It also did not that account for the
country s integration into the global system and was pulling back from the world they had already
been a part of for some time (Kappeler, 15). Even if Venezuela approaches food sovereignty with a

Canadian Food Research Paper
4 Canadian food Last Friday, my friend and I were taken to the cafeteria by Mr. Brian and ate famous
Canadian food, poutine, for the first time. Poutine is popular fast food in Canada, and it includes deep
fried potato with gravy and cheese curds. The appearance is not good, but the taste is excellent. I was
surprised to eat my first taste and I want to know Canadian food more. Basically, Canadian food is
mostly a mixture. A former prime minister in Canada, Joe Clark said, Canada has a cuisine of cuisines.
Not a stew pot, but a smorgasbord . It means that Canadian food is influenced by various immigrants
and all in all, the roots are First Nation, the UK, and France. This is some examples of famous
Canadian food, Pemmican from First Nation, Nanaimo bar from Vancouver, poutine from France, and
pancakes and maple syrup from the UK and New England.
Pemmican was introduced to the traders in the early 18th century and then mainly produced by the

There are various theories about the history of poutine, but the most widespread claim comes from a
restaurant in Warwick, Quebec in 1957. The owner is the first one to have served poutine as we know
it today and it has developed in stage and now there are a lot of flavor for poutine with beef and
lobster.
All in all, Canadian food was originated from other countries and have been developed in Canada. It is
commonly said that Canada is a melting pot of cuisines. As one of the reasons for the fact, Canadian
food connects with multiculturalism. As people migrated to Canada during the war, some traditional
food like poutine and pancakes were brought to Canada in the past. As the result, multiculturalism in
Canada was promoted and now food around the world are creating a culture of Canada while
intermingling. Therefore, as multiculturalism is progressed, Canadian food will vary in the

Methylmercury In Canada
Background
In a neoliberalist economy, a pluralist model of healthcare is adopted. Consequently, the high powers
often sing while vulnerable populations are left with inequitable consideration for health 1. This is
exemplified in arctic regions of Canada where health status is considerably lower compared to the
Canadian population. In these regions, cultural, socioeconomic and difficulty in access create sizable
barriers that require significant investment of human and capital resource to overcome. Not only is
resource availability limited but also there are numerable negative health outcomes associated with
long range pollution transportation. Pollutants can travels thousands of kilometers through air and
water currents that trend toward Arctic regions. Although there are numerous pollutants of concern,
mercury is particularly noxious. Mercury is a heavy metal, d block element understood to be a potent
neurotoxin 2. In exposed populations, extensive neurotoxic effects are observed ranging from
developmental delays to death. It is well known that individuals residing near mercury producing
plants experience exposure well above the recommended guidelines 3. One such example is the

A Separate Piece Literary Analysis
When many things break, they often never return back as healthy as it was before. In John Knowles A
Separate Piece, Gene and Finny are two best friends who go through many hardships together as their
years pass at the Devon School. All of the boys in attendance are preparing to be enlisted in the war
that is going on outside of school but they each are fighting their own inside themselves. In A Separate
Piece, Knowles utilizes the allegory of Finny s broken leg to represent the difficult times throughout a
friendship.
As Gene comes back to the Devon School fifteen years later he revisits certain sites that have
important meaning to him. While he is tracing through the years he has spent there many things come
to his attention that he hadn t noticed before. He makes his way to the place of the marble staircase
and says, The marble must be unusually hard. That seemed very likely, only too likely, although with
all my thought about these stairs exceptional hardness had not occurred to me. It was surprising that I
had overlooked that, that crucial fact. (Knowles, 2) This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that many people to come along. We ended the fight in the only way possible; all of us turned on

that is how the fight ended. This means that Gene and the other boys are evolving and coming together
as a group while Finny is not. No, of course I won t break it again. Isn t the bone supposed to be
stronger when it grows together over a place where it s been broken once? (Knowles, 93) Finny says
this to Gene because he believes that things will get better, and he will come back stronger. This also
represents their friendship because it was broken at one point and it will never fully be what it was

Rock And Roll And Conflict

recognize the creative forms of expression that arise from that conflict, the things that inspire and that
which is inspired. It is in these forms of creativity, in this case music, that the very core of struggle is
expressed in its raw and most honest form. Throughout the history of rock and roll there have been a
countless number of artists that have brought forth social and cultural changes, that had voices strong

Arn Chorn Pond
Arn Chorn Pond was a sweet little boy before it all started. He would go outside and play with his
friends and he was always very friendly. That lasted only until the Khmer Rouge came to his town and
started making them suffer. They had to go to different camps and they got separated from their
families. A lot of people got killed for no reason or they died from a disease or starvation. They had to
get up very early in the morning and work in the rice field until bedtime. They would get very little
food and very little sleep. So many people were killed without any explanation. After a few years of
working hard and not getting enough rest they went into war. Kids of all ages had to learn how to

Rescue During The Holocaust Essay
The dictionary definition of rescue is to save someone from a harmful, dangerous, or violent situation.
This perfectly describes rescue during the holocaust because many people were being saved during a
very harmful, dangerous, and violent event. Rescue was a very critical part of the holocaust that
people need to learn about the importance and the examples of rescue during the holocaust. There
were a few key parts of holocaust rescue: dangers of rescue, famous and less famous rescues, specific
details of rescues, and persecution of rescuers. The holocaust was a terrible event that showed how
some humans can be violent and cruel. It also though showed how humans can also be great, helpful
and safe lives in life taking situations. Rescue during the holocaust was a very critical point of the
holocaust because of famous attempts and dangers that were overcome.

Some survivors survived not by being rescued but by being hidden (Dornsife). Rescue activities
involved seemingly simple acts, such as finding and securing hiding places for families, and more
complex activities, such as negotiating with German cadres for prisoner exchanges. While many aid
providers were individuals, operating independently, there are numerous examples of organized rescue
during the Holocaust. Religious groups, political and resistance groups, and even neighborhoods and
villages formed networks that worked together to save Jewish people in their communities (Dornsife).
Many rescue attempts included national embassies, diplomats in countries throughout Europe helped
Jews escape persecution by issuing visas and other travel paperwork that allowed Jewish citizens to
flee Nazi occupied territory (Dornsife). This reinforces the idea that rescue attempts could be very

Comparison of Windows and X Windows on Knoppix Linux Boot disk and Window 2000 Citing
Advantages and Disadvantages to Both
Introduction
What is X Windows? The X Window System, often known as X, ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Advantages and Disadvantages
Perhaps the most significant capability of GDI over more direct methods of accessing the hardware,
Wikipedia (2005), is its scaling capabilities, and abstraction of target devices. Using GDI, it is very
easy to draw on multiple devices, such as a screen and a printer, and expect proper reproduction in
each case. This capability is at the center of all WYSIWYG applications for Microsoft Windows.
One of the biggest advantages of the X Window, Lockergnome (1996 2005), approach to GUIs is that
X is completely independent of the core operating system. In other operating systems, a GUI crash
requires a system restart. With X, the GUI can be stopped, started, changed, and restarted without so
much as denting the underlying processes of the OS.
Not addressed in this paper is the Windows Graphics Foundation, which is the next version of
Microsoft s DirectX application programming interface (API). Games and all they require are out of
scope of both the Window manager available for the Knoppix Linux Boot disk and GDI.
Conclusion
I actually prefer the Windows 2000 DE and all that entails. Perhaps this is born from familiarity alone,
but considering both let me move my mouse, click and open windows, and access files there is not
much more to judge. In the final observation pertaining to this, the performance I get from using
Windows operating system and its DE outshines what is available with the Knoppix Linux Boot disk.

It should be no surprise that his first venture into the young adult genre brought forth a masterpiece, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part time Indian. Although intended for a younger audience, anybody would enjoy this informative and humorous novel that covers difficult topics including poverty, racism and struggling with identity while growing up. The novel is written as a first person narrative from the perspective a teenager living on the Spokane Indian Reservation, inspired by events from Alexie s own life. Being semi autobiographical gives the story an authenticity that can move any audience. The emotionally charged coming of age story is sure to make you laugh and cry. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian is the account of Arnold Spirit Jr. or Junior as he s called, in his first year of high school. Growing up on a reservation he faces medical concerns, poverty, hounding from bullies and the difficulties of a community suffering from alcoholism. He is encouraged by a reservation teacher to escape the low expectations of people around him and makes the decision to switch to an all white high school in the nearby off reservation town Reardan, Washington. Theme Of Hoosiers Hoosiers is a film based on a true story about a small Indiana farming town s high school basketball team and it s new coach Norman Dale, who is a former successful collage basketball coach but was ultimately fired from said coaching job after striking one of his own players. Now hired as the new head coach of the Hickory high school he must persuade his the people of Hickory that he is the right man for the job to lead the team to the state championships. According to Plato wisdom is to judge certain situations or even people relating to specific actions based on pass knowledge it is also assigned to rulers, in this case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reflects the presence of justice in sport which is not totally present in other areas life because in sport no matter a teams win/loss record or how many times a team will win championships, the fans still attend games, the player still play and the coaches still coach. When comparing to other areas of life such as a normal desk job, if you don t complete your work that is assigned to you even though your efforts were strong, you are most likely to get fired. In sport although coaches do get fired often they usually find another coaching job, same for the players. Also in sport there is always a chance to win the championship the following year, but in a normal desk job you usually don t have the chance to do the assignment your boss gave you the following year . Overall, liquidity is not a strength for Walmart due to both low quick ratio and current ratio. Asset management In 2011, Walmart s inventory turnover was 11.62 and the industry average was 10.4(stock analysis). It s fixed asset turnover was 3.88 and the industry average was 3.56, and it s total asset turnover was 2.34 and the industry average was 1.56(Stock analysis). The values calculated for all three ratios mentioned all resulted in substantially different values in a positive way (Appendix B). Historically the values of each ratio have maintained relatively constant, which in this case is not a weakness. Asset management is a strength for Walmart, which ultimately means that they are maintaining their assets in the correct manner in order to have an efficient way of business. Debt Management In 2011, Walmart s debt to equity ratio was that of 72.75 while the industry average was 55 and it exceeded the range of comparability by a significant amount(Stock analysis)(Appendix B). The debt to equity ratio indicates how much debt a company has for every dollar of shareholders equity. Walmart s value of 72.75 is high especially when considering the trend for the past three years. One reason for Walmart s high debt to equity ratio could be that they have been aggressive in financing their growth with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. DELEGATION AND DECENTRALIZATION Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralization In an organization, centralized way of making a decision entails less autonomy to everyone except the central leadership. In contrast, decentralization involves delegation of responsibility and the associated decision making powers across various levels in the organization. Let us discover the pros and cons of this concept. A central command structure derives from an autocratic style of management. Autocracy is not necessarily an intention and could be incidental. For example, typically start ups and business that have just been founded are naturally autocratic with the founding members primarily running the show. Gradually, as the business grows and the headcount expands, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The adoption of organizational standards and best practices is also facilitated by a decentralized setup. Transparency in process ensures that it is easy for the various local teams to emulate and adopt the methods and processes that brought success to a team located elsewhere. One of the major advantages of decentralized way of taking decisions is witnessed during a sudden change in the local business environment such as the onset of recession or currency devaluation, etc. Businesses are able to respond and adapt quickly to these changes when authority is decentralized. Retail businesses like Walmart and hotel chains often benefit from having a decentralized style of management. Businesses, where quick decisions amidst fast paced changes in environment are the order of the day, stand to benefit from decentralization. Disadvantages of Decentralization Too much emphasis on localized way of taking decisions may end up blurring the bigger picture. As you go down the corporate ladder, employees seem to lose sight of the organizational vision. A highly decentralized organization can be the battleground for unhealthy competition between local managers leading to lack of co operation and coordination. As a result, interdependent functions may suffer and resolving interdepartmental conflicts is difficult when authority has been delegated. In addition, there is costly duplication ... • 6. Characterization And Internal Characterism In Kurt... The world isn t perfect, true but it shouldn t have to be, we are humans and we make mistakes. Sometimes we wish everything could be perfect, yet that may end up making things worse. We shouldn t try to be perfect like Dr. Hitz thinks it should be. We should just be thankful for what we have now. In 2BRO2B, Kurt Vonnegut uses characterization and internal conflict to stress the idea sometimes things aren t as perfect as they seem. Kurt Vonnegut uses Characterization to develop the fact that things aren t as perfect as they seem. He does this by mentioning different points of views for different characters. He or she is going to live on a happy, roomy, clean, rich planet, thanks to population control. Dr. Hitz says how good of a life Wehling s child is going to live due to population control, this shows how he views population control. Dr. Hitz believes that having set up the very first gas chamber for population control is an accomplishment. Leora Duncan admires Dr. Hitz and that s why she s beyond thankful to stand next to him in the portrait being painted of the happy garden of life. This shows how some people feel about Dr. Hitz and honor him for making the first gas chamber. Wehling, on the other hand, thinks it s wrong when he has to pick which of his three children he wants to live because he only has one volunteer to be executed in the gas chamber. • 7. Critical Analysis Of Sonnet 130 Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare is undoubtedly one of the most influential pieces of poetry in the history of humankind. It is a standard 14 line Shakespearian sonnet that describes the beauty of a woman in comparison the beauties of the world the speaker admires the most. Unlike Petrarch whose sonnets about the beauty of Beatrice were all aimed at picturing the godlike appearance and the personal traits of his beloved woman, sonnet 130 by Shakespeare goes in the opposite direction. This particular sonnet is unusual and, in a certain regard, revolutionary for the late renaissance poetry as it steps back from the image of the woman as a goddess, a heavenly angel who delights the world with her presence. Sonnet 130 describes a woman as she really is, a woman with flaws, a woman who is not the most beautiful one in existence, a woman who might not be compared to the most admirable wonders of the world yet a woman whom the speaker loves dearly and considers the most important woman in his life. Shakespeare starts the sonnet with comparing the physical traits of his mistress to the beauties of the world. The comparison, as it was said above, is not usual for the poetry of the time. Precisely, the comparison does not relate to the features of the described woman: My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red than her lips red; If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (Shakespeare). The author admits that there are wonders in the world that are far more superior to the beauty of his mistress. He admits it fairly and without hesitations. The author knows what his beloved woman really is, he is realistic about her and, at this point, this feature of the sonnet makes it the most outstanding example of the late renaissance literature. The author seems to abandon the overexaggerated beauty standards of the time, he leaves behind the cliches of his era and allows himself to be as realistic as no one dared to be before. He does speak of an angel who came to our world as a gift from the Kingdom of Heaven, he speaks of an earthly woman whose beauty is not as evident as the beauty of Beatrice from Petrarchan sonnets. The beauty of the speaker s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Social Policies And Welfare And Social Issues Social policies are public policies of which the government uses for welfare and social issues. Welfare, according to American Politics Today, is the financial or other assistance provided to individuals by the government, usually based on need (Bianco 448). These welfare programs play a role in citizen s lives, especially those of low income. However, in some instances, they are there to help the wealthy as well, such as bailouts of the financial sector. As the textbook reads, the persistence of poverty remains the primary motivator for most social policy today (Bianco 450). The rapid growth of social policy is proving that the rate of income inequality in the United States is growing at a steady pace. For example, the income distribution from 1979 to 2009 the average income of the top 1 percent grew by $700,000 to $1,220,100 (a 133 percent gain), compared to a $2,600 gain to $18,900 (16 percent) for the bottom fifth of the income levels. The wealth gap is even greater: the median networth of U.S. households in 2007 was $120,300, but the median wealth for the top 10 percent was $1.89 million, and this group held 73 percent of that nation s wealth (Bianco 450). The economy in America has an unequal wealth distribution where a small percentage of the population posses most of the wealth in the country, while the rest of the country has little to spare. This leads to poverty and income inequality. To measure income equality economists often measure how much income ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each of the programs have differences and we should respect this, but they also have similarities as well. They also have rules which the players have to follow. Although the penalties are severe, the nfl and college football, have the same rules which many of the players think are fair. Also, many of the players respect the history behind it and encourage other players to do the same. Many of the rules which are the same are significant and should be followed by both the pro football players and the college players. When a team and another team tie the game, they have what is called overtime. In this period, the first team who scores a touchdown before the other team does, wins the game. Both teams have three timeouts, and has a chance to touch the football and try to score a touchdown. This situation is led off of a coin flip which decides what team gets the football first. There are some similarities about the stadiums which host the team who is playing another(away) team. Most stadiums have a hall of fame or a historic piece of history which stands today. Many of these stadiums are very expensive and many are asking why they have the stadiums in the first place. The length of each football field are one hundred yards and have two end zones, which you get points when one person walks or runs into it. Next, is the differences. One of the differences is about the rules. One of the rules is when the players take drugs when the doctor did not prescribe it to them, it is an offence. The penalty for college is ban for more than three games, and for pro football, it is four or more games. • 10. The Value Of The Cash Flow Part: B Net Present Value (NPV) calculates the present value of the cash flow which is based on the opportunity cost of capital and comes up with a value that is added to the wealth of the shareholders if that project is accepted. Apart from Net present Value (NPV) there are a couple of more methods for investment appraisal such as internal rate of return (IRR), Payback period (PBP) and Profitability Index (PI). Net Present Value (NPV) vs. Payback Period (PBP): Payback period calculates the period in which the initial amount invested in the project is recovered. The project is accepted or rejected based on the benchmark set by the firm. If the payback period is less than or equal to the benchmark the firm will accept the project and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such a problem does not exist with NPV. Net Present Value (NPV) vs. Profitability Index (PI) Profitability index is a ratio between the discounted cash inflow to the initial cash outflow. It presents a value which says how many times of the investment is the returns in the form of discounted cash flows. The disadvantage associated with this method again is its relativity. A project can have same profitability index with different investments and vast difference in absolute dollar return. NPV has an upper hand in this case. Conclusion: We have noted that almost all the difficulties are survived by net present value and that is why it is considered to be the best way to analyze, evaluate, and select big investment projects. At the same time, the estimation of cash flows requires carefulness because if the cash flow estimation is wrong, NPV is bound to be misleading. A small problem with NPV is that it also considers the same discounting rate for both cash inflow and outflows. We know that there are differences between borrowing and lending rates. Modified internal rate of return is another method which is little more complex but improved which takes care of the difference between borrowing and lending rates also as it discounts cash inflows at lending rates and cash outflow at borrowing rates. Did you know that about 1,688,780 new types of cancer have been found in the United States, killing more than 600,920 people? Cancer has been known as the second leading cause of death in the United States just after Chronic Heart Disease. Fortunately, researchers have found a way to prevent and cure cancer and that is by using Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is a branch in the science field that deals with dimensions less than 100 nanometers, which is about a billionth of a meter. Furthermore, scientists predict that Nanotechnology can lead to a breakthrough in the medical field of Oncology. Therefore, the drug presented in the microbot can produce more RNA to help defeat the cancerous cells and tumors. Lastly, Nanotechnology can help doctors find cancer cells in a patient and they have the opportunity to give early medications to the patients diagnosed with cancer. Currently, doctors can use Nanotechnology to detect the minuscule cancer tumors present in millimeters of saliva and blood. As illustrated in the research done by the Stanford University, We can now detect just a few cancer associated molecules or circulating tumor cells in the body in just a few milliliters of blood or saliva, or map the boundaries of a brain tumor within millimeters to assess its response to therapy or to plan a surgery, Rajiv Gambhir said. We ve specially designed nanoparticles that can send back a massively amplified, whopping signal when they bind to cancer cells in the colon, and we re working on ways to trigger the self assembly of nanoparticles when they enter a cancer cell. The field has advanced tremendously in the past 10 to 15 years (Gambhir). Therefore, if doctors can detect cancer tumors or cancer cells in the body, then they can offer required diagnostics and early treatment to the patient before the tumor develops and starts to multiply. I awoke to the smell of light, fluffy pancakes slathered in maple syrup, and greasy, fat bacon, just how I like it. Shea, come downstairs and eat! We have to leave by 10, My dad yelled from the kitchen. Our cousins had invited us to go to their lake house at Cedar Creek Lake; we accepted with enthusiasm because we had never seen it before. Coming right down. I shouted back to my dad. Hopping out of bed, I pulled on my favorite t shirt and most comfortable shorts, stuffed some clothes into a small duffel bag, and pounded down the stairs. We left at 11, late as usual. All five of us squeezed in the silver Volvo, hip to hip, blasting country music as we ventured into the Dallas suburbs. At 11:35 AM, my phone buzzed and Cammy Davis , my best friend Eliza s mom, name lit up on the screen. This is odd, Cammy rarely calls me. Shouldn t Eliza call me instead? Turning down the music, I answered the phone. Hey Cammy! What s up? I asked. Are you in Dallas? She asked in a panicked voice, but I could hardly hear her because of the cacophony from the other line. I wondered where she was. Burberry, Eliza s horse, bucked her off and now Eliza is unconscious, she has been for the last six minutes. I am in an ambulance and we are going down to Presbyterian Hospital, come if you want. This is a line describing a public execution from Get it Right: Privatize Executions by Arthur Miller. In his Article, Miller paints a rather disturbing picture for the audience. Miller describes a hypothetical public execution whereas the audience would consume the event similar to how we would a sporting event. The moist, dark sand kept falling apart though, I gave up. With the bow in my hair and swimsuit full of sand, I ran over to my Dad. Daddy, my sand castle keeps falling down. Can you help me? My Dad, with a broad smile on his face, scooped me into his big, loving arms. He walked over with me in his arms to a smooth spot of sand, and together we built a fascinating sand castle. I wanted to go play in the playful waves. Daddy, I want to play in the ocean. Okay, but I ll come with you to make sure the waves don t pull you away. No, Daddy. I want to go in by myself. And with that independent statement, I ran into the waves, which welcomed me with full force. They filled my senses with a sharp, salty smell, the foam blinded my eyes, and my energetic little body and pink bow was swallowed by the fast flowing water. They also believe voter identification laws are vitally essential to discourage voter fraud and to strengthen public trust in the electoral system (Gerken 40). Democrats, who almost unanimously oppose voter identification laws, strongly feel that minority groups of voters, who tend to vote Democratic, are more likely to not have the resources, knowledge, or means to have or obtain the necessary identification requirements for the polls. Mendeleev also arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix.. But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions. The Original Marxist Ideology Of Populism In Venezuela Food sovereignty programs have become a phenomenon in Latin American countries that have left neoliberalism and are looking for an independent future.
