Seat Belt Safety
A young man was being pulled over for not wearing his seat belt, while the officer was writing the
violator a citation, a drunk, and speeding driver haphazardly sped past them running into a guiltless
bystander. It may seem like having more stringent seat belt laws is a reputable idea; Nevertheless, It is
not the most feasible way to maintain safety on the road, Drivers would be safer if they merely
exercised some common sense to put down their cell phones and paid attention to the road. Failing to
wear a seat belt should not be illegal because it only affects the driver s safety, it is impractical for
police to enforce, and lastly, the majority of people already wears a seat belt.
By not wearing a seat belt only the driver s security is affected. First, Whenever a driver is not using
his seat belt the protection of others on the road is not affected (Balaker 113). To clarify, There is
simply no need to protect people from their poor decisions. Likewise, Laws should focus on protecting

Seat belt use in New Hampshire, the only state with no seat belt law, was 73 Percent (Teigen 11).
Plenty of Americans understand the safety benefits of wearing a seat belt and choose to value their
well being. A law is not necessary to teach people common sense (Balaker 117). Many drivers and
passengers realize that it is beneficial for them to wear their seat belt for their personal assurance.
Those people don t need to worry about getting pulled over because they already understand the
benefits of wearing a seat belt. Younger drivers are less likely to wear seatbelts than older drivers
(CDC) . Ineffectively, Laws are not always able to urge drivers to buckle up. Some will still continue
their reckless behavior without pondering the risks of getting a ticket. Plenty of drivers accept the

Genre Example Of A Brochure Sample
Introduction
The genre samples for the proposal of a new grocery store near the MNSU campus will be explained
below. An email, brochure, questionnaire and a flowchart are among the genre examples explained.
Each will give a brief explanation behind choosing that specific genre example.
Email
The first Genre Sample I chose, was to write an email to Eric Anderson, the mayor of the Mankato
City Council. I decided to write to Eric Anderson because I assumed he would be the best person to
contact about starting a proposal for a new grocery store near the Minnesota State University Mankato
campus. Eric Anderson could then give me some pointers on continuing this proposal and what I
should do next in being able to get this approved for construction. Within the email to Eric Anderson, I
stated the main purpose in writing this email to him. I proceeded to state the reasoning why there is a
need for a grocery store near the MNSU campus. Finally, I asked him for any feedback on the
proposal and that I looked forward to hearing back to him. At the end of the email I tried to be as
professional as possible and listed my name and then some contact information of mine as well.
Brochure
The brochure I created will be available to the entire Mankato Community along with all the students
at Minnesota State University Mankato. This brochure will be available at many locations throughout
Mankato, with a major emphasis of them being around the MNSU campus. Some specific spots
people will be able to find these brochures are on the MNSU campus in the CSU and surrounding
business of the MNSU campus, like Kwik Trip as an example.
I created this brochure to show the reason why we should have a grocery store near the MNSU
campus. I wanted the brochure to be concise, but also wanted it to provide enough information to the
readers. I added some fun colors to the brochure to make it a little more visually appealing. I also
added some pictures throughout the brochure to give the reader some visual aids of the proposed
grocery store plan.
Questionnaire
The questionnaire will be given out to any and every student, first year freshman to a graduate student,
who is walking through the CSU at Minnesota State University Mankato. The

Peak Book Quotes
The Courageous Climbers
In the novel Peak by Roland Smith the main theme is courage. Peak is about a fourteen year old boy
named Peak Marcello, after moving from Wisconsin to New York City, Peak climbs a tall skyscraper
and gets into trouble. Instead of going to jail he has to go live with his father, Josh in Thailand. Josh is
a very successful businessman and famous mountaineer/ rock rat. (Pg. 19) Josh surprises Peak and he
finds out that he is going to climbing Mount Everest. Throughout the novel, Peak encounters many
different characters. A plentiful amount of these characters have a lot of courage. Some of these
courageous characters are Kitar, Peak, and Teri, for many reasons that you will find out.
The first person in the novel Peak who demonstrated a great deal of courage was Sun Jo s father,
Kitar. Sun Jo is a Nepalese boy, only six days older than Peak, who climbs the mountain with Peak.
He is Peak s competitor and friend. Zopa who is an retired sherpa who is described with this quote. If
he agrees to something he ll do it, but he may not be doing it for the reason you think he s doing it.

Even though it is an exceedingly risky climb, he chose to attempt to conquer the mountain. Knowing
the weather conditions could be unpredictable, he had to trust that his group of climbers would make

about him, she even said People die up there Peak. You might die up there. (Pg. 179) Peak could have
died of HAPE, which stands for High altitude pulmonary edema, meaning your lungs could not
withhold the strain from the high altitudes, he could have been buried under snow from an avalanche,
or killed from some other type of storm. Either way this would not stop Peak from following his

Development Is Not A Synonym For Infrastructure
Development is not a synonym for infrastructure. Yet, these two words are often used in
interchangeably. Halifax, a small city in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada is currently taking on
the project of building a new convention center to replace the old and derelict convention center. This
project has been widely accepted and praised by many local government officials and business people
as a tremendous step forward and a driver for the city s growth. While this project can be defined as
new infrastructure, this alone does not justify its denotement as a development. What allows
infrastructure to also be defined as development is its ability to create positive change, or put more
simply: improvement. Likewise, undevelopment will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Convention centers are generally not expected to make a profit on their operations or cover their
construction costs . As a result, the vast majority of projects are covered by government funding with
the hope that the economic benefits for the city will justify this subsidy. These new or refurbished
convention centers are expected to bring in more foreign visitors, increasing tourism and bringing in
foreign capital. While this can be true, examples of success stories lie in cities where tourism is
already prevalent and lends themselves to larger cities far more than smaller ones . Similarly,
projections are made under the assumption that all conference and event attendees will be visitors.
Project revenue received from local hotels, restaurants, and stores is determined under this premise.
This assumption is largely exaggerated, as studies have shown that the number of hotel rooms
estimated to be used during a given year was one third of the initial projections. This is because locals
make up a large portion of conference attendees . As a result, most spending is from local residents
rather than visitors, completely negating the purpose of building a center to bring in external revenue.
It is apparent that since attendees are primarily local residents, there is no increase in sales revenue at
neighboring businesses. Moreover, this particular project has proven to not only be unbeneficial for
surrounding restaurants and retailers,

Players are going to be able to select their own coin values (which rise upwards from 0.01), and they
can select up to 10 coins per line if they wish. Paylines are also adjustable either via the tridents at the
sides of the reels, or the select lines button below them. At its cheapest, the slot has a floor bet which
costs 0.01 per line, per spin. From there, the only way is up.
Watery wilds
The Rise of Poseidon slot contains wild symbols which offer 2x multipliers. Whenever a wild symbol
appears in a winning combination, it will double the value of that combination. As well as that, it can
substitute for all other symbols in the slot with the exception of the Trident scatter symbol.
Scatter icons take on the shape of Poseidon s Trident. These symbols can trigger a free spins feature

The Point Of Theatre And Motion Picture Technology
The point of theatre is transformation: to make an extraordinary event out of ordinary material right in
front of an audience s eyes. Where the germ of the idea came from is pretty much irrelevant. What
matters to every theatre maker, I know, is speaking clearly to the audience right now. This quote by
English playwright and screenwriter, Lee Hall, from an essay he published in the Times of London, is
central to the connection between theatre and motion picture technology. Since the rise of film in the
early twentieth century, these elements have been influencing each other, and working together, to
elevate the storytelling and experience of each medium and, in turn, better connecting them to the
modern audience. The collaboration of these two mediums has resulted in a new form of theatre,
known as digital theatre, that shows theatrical entertainment does not have to be either purist
(involving only live actors on stage), or be consumed by the dominant televisual mass media, but can
gain from the strengths of both types of communication. (Masura). Throughout this paper, the
intersection of theatre and motion picture technology will be explored through their effect on each
other, in storytelling and experience, and the product of their collaboration digital theatre. To begin
understanding these medium s influence on one another, it is important to note that theatre s effect on
motion picture technology, and vice versa, does not alter the core principles of each

Imperial Expansion in Global Asia 1400 to 1800
Imperial Expansion in Global Asia, 1400 to 1800
The early modern era, roughly around 1400 to 1800, was significantly marked by empire expansions.
Asian empires like Timur in Central Eurasia, the Ming and Qing, as well as the Mughals, Ottomans,
and Safavids expanded their territories through military conquest and commercial penetration. As they
established political control over much more vast tracts of land, new commercial networks and culture
interactions were also emerged. Also, it was a time of global imperial expansion. Asia was connected
to the broader global interacting patterns with the increasing involvement of western Europeans.
The Ming (1368 1644) and later the Qing (1644 1911) dynasties of China expanded broadly across
central Asia into Mongolia, Turkestan, and Tibet. The Ming dynasty put a considerable emphasis on
oceanic exploration. A dramatic example of the Ming s prowess at the time can be seen in the
expansive voyages of Zheng He. He commanded the Ming dynasty s fleet of immense trading vessels
on expeditions ranging as far as Africa between 1405 and 1423, helping to extend Chinese maritime
and commercial influence throughout the regions bordering the Indian Ocean. His Muslim faith and
prestigious position in government reminds us of the ethnic and religious diversity of the vast Chinese
empire. Later in the Qing dynasty, China undertook a territory expansion beyond its boundary to
control vast, multicultural, multi climatic realm with centralizing state

Women s Roles And Gender Stereotypes Essay
Women s Roles
The Simpsons is a TV show that airs on the Fox network. During the fifth season, in an episode called
Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy, Lisa challenges the makers of the Malibu Stacy doll to create a less sexist doll.
The original creator of Malibu Stacy teams up with Lisa to create Lisa Lionheart to create a positive
influence for young girls. This episode raised a lot of questions regarding gender roles and
stereotypes. Gender stereotypes are prominent in today s life style. Per gender stereotypes, girls like
princesses and boys like cars. These gender roles, however, do not just apply to children. These roles
are still very prominent in grown up society. The pay gap between men and women Gender roles are a
big part of humankind society.
There is insurmountable evidence that points to the idea that gender stereotypes is largely
accomplished through social factors. Scholars in both sociological and psychological fields believe
that gender is constructed through the modeling of appropriate behaviors and the use of systematic
rewards and punishments. Evidence also shows that many aspects of gender are not innate, as
evidenced by children who do not exhibit a gender specific preference in friends, clothing or toys
when placed in gender neutral settings. Only after negative reactions from parents, teachers, or friends
do many children begin to take on the gender roles society comes to see as appropriate for them.

Art Spiegelman s Use Of Animals In Maus I And Maus Propaganda
Maus I and Maus II by Art Spiegelman are graphic novels that describe the horrors that his father
Vladek experienced during the period of time known as the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time of
extreme racial and ethnic prejudice in which over six million Jews died, not counting the other groups
such as Gypsies and Homosexual who were also slain by the Nazi party. The Jews were killed because
they were perceived as being a subhuman layer of the Nazi Society (United States Holocaust

The opposite of what the Nazis believed, Spiegelman has anthropomorphic character with their human

thoughts, and perceive themselves as human. This is also proven in Maus I when Vladek and his wife
Anja are hiding in the cellar of a friend. While in the cellar the two are being pestered by rats. To stop
Anja from having a panic attack from being close to the vermin Vladek claims Those aren t rats. They
re very small. one just ran over my hand before. They re just mice ( Maus I, 157). This shows that in
the world of Art Spiegelman s Maus animals such as rats and mice coexist with the characters that are
drawn as rats and mice. Spiegelman also uses masks to help parody the story. The masks in the story
are worn by Vladek, and Anja to hide in plain site in Nazi occupied Poland. The characters are
illustrated with a pig head, with a very visible string around the mask for the reader to see. This
parodies the idea of animals living the Holocaust with the Jews pretending to be Polish. The masks
represent their ability to hide within the Polish community, and assimilate with their culture. Therefore

Rural, Northern and Remote social work
Glen Schmidt (2000) demonstrated characteristics of Northern social work (p.4). Schmidt (2000)
distinguished the Indigenous definition of the north as home, a welcoming place to live. In contrast to
the western perspective, which is based on European settlement and includes the north being a, harsh
wild that can be used for a resource based economy (p.4). I believe that defining northern is dependent
on who is defining it. I believe that defining north is relative. Considering that I live in Edmonton,
people who living in southern Alberta consider Edmonton north. Also there are people who live very
north such as the hamlet of Grise Fiord. Should Grise Fiord be considered north? I reiterate that I
believe is it dependent upon personal opinion and lived experience. The influence of resource base
economy is significant because it determines, many peoples source of income as well the community s
development. Schmidt mentioned the relationship of hinterland metropolis as company from urban
centres benefitting from the profit of the resources and not the communities (p.5). Schmidt (2000) also
highlighted that the North has been defined as marginalized part of Canada as the majority of Canada
s population is 200km or less from the U.S border (p.3).
Another characteristic that defines northern social work is the scarcity of service provisions including,
social services, food services, transportation, health services and other basic needs services. Schmidt

Cannabis In Canada
Abstract
Cannabis use, though still somewhat stigmatized in the media, is among one of the fastest growing
trends in Canada among youths and adults alike. The evidence I have gathered through statistical
analysis and secondary research shows that cannabis has become the recreational drug of choice
among Canadians. This is due to a host of factors. One of these factors is a record breaking positive
public perception of cannabis among Canadians. The way the public perceives a drug is very
important, and for something as taboo as cannabis to be accepted by the public and the media takes
time and effort. This struggle to increase the positive perception of cannabis among Canadians has
paid off greatly, displayed in national surveys where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

users or alcoholics, cannabis users don t see much of a problem with using weed (another slang term

their lungs as cigarettes (though not as destructive). The idea that teens do drugs to rebel against
society is actually un true, the exact opposite is true. When cannabis is talked about so positively in
the media and among politicians, it actually makes teenagers think the drug is safe and subconsciously
encourages them to do it. Alcohol and cigarettes aren t looked at so positively in society, and thus the
use of these drugs among youths is falling dramatically (yes, even alcohol). They see these drugs as
life threatening, manmade chemicals ingested by older folk, while cannabis is seen as this great, all

The Fundamental Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Morals
Introduction:
In the reading of Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant mentions our actions
being done out of duty or of desire. In which we have our maxims are a fraction of our actions and it
turns into a universal law. In this essay, I shall explain what Kant means by I can also will that my
maxim should become a universal law (Prompt). Also, how it corresponds to the first proposition, that
Kant states, which is an action must be from moral duty. I will provide an example of this proposition
taking place.
Summary:
Emmanuel Kant has three propositions of morality. One of the propositions is that in order to have
moral worth, an action must be from a moral duty. The second proposition is that action whether the
action is in accord with duty has been done from duty or from some selfish purpose is easy (Cahn 76).
The third proposition is that action accord with duty and the subject has in addition an immediate
inclination to do the action (Cahn 76). Each one of the propositions has a different distinct and they
are connected to morality. There are several actions that can be done out of duty, while others can be
done out of desire. Each one of these two are used to determine if it s done in a moral way. Kant gives
two examples, one example is about a self interested shopkeeper and the other is a reluctant
benefactor. In the self interested shop keeper, the dealer is focused on having fixed prices for
everyone. He needs the customers to keep coming

Literacy Is The Way We Identify With And Comprehend The World
Literacy, in my eyes, is the way we identify with and comprehend the world and the various works of
literary value. From the beginning of my existence, I believe my literacy has compounded upon itself
to bring me to my present state. I will measure my different literacy stages in parallel with the type of
schooling I went through (i.e. elementary, middle, and high school). As my literary power grew, the
significance at which it held to me personally, also rose. Therefore, I will be measuring the direct
relationship between the significance and power of my personal literacy. Within the time frame of my
elementary school years, I was able to develop the basic foundation for a long lasting literacy skill.
Directing the attention towards reading, I can trace those roots back to the days of early computer
games. For example, when I was a wee lad, I did not have a computer at my house, so I went to my
grandma s house and used her computer. While on the computer I discovered a little game by the
name of Putt Putt. The game involved the following of Putt Putt, a tiny purple car, and his crusade to
save those who are in troublesome situations such as losing their shovel. The experience initiated the
way I read as it engaged me in a fun and interesting way to understand a story while also learning key
words and effectively creating a comprehension. The little snippets of plot allowed me to read along
with the narrator, as well as providing some sections where critical thinking

Film Analysis Of Gleaming The Cube
Oof. What happened? This episode starts well enough, with Cooper hitting the alarm and immediately

the same scene, with Coop hanging upside down and finally spotting Audrey s letter. That kind of
touch is why you bring in the director of Gleaming The Cube, isn t it?

Now that s more like it. Dismissing the b team, Harley Peyton and Robert Engels turn in a script that
Lesli Linka Glatter directs in full Twin Peaks style. Super Nadine s still around and Van Dohlen s still
overemoting but it all fits together much better. Could the set presence of the occasional character
actor playing Gordon Cole have made a difference? Who s to say?
But there s definitely improvement between the last episode and this one, which wrings more drama
from a muted confrontation between Cooper and Horne over Audrey s semi conscious body than the
last episode got out of some hardcore undercover police action and Blackie s unexpected murder.
Cooper s scenes with Horne bristle with tension and MacLachlan is in particularly fine form this time

when they were older they got into a fight while Victor was drunk ending their friendship. When
Victor s father passes away Thomas is there ready to lend a helping hand. From this gesture we can
tell Thomas is highly forgiving and caring. We re also informed that he is a story teller. When on the
journey with Victor we observe his caring nature and light hearted personality as he strikes up

told the same damn stories over and over again. We re also able to take note moments before of
Thomas s light hearted personality trying to make a joke after finding victor helpless of trying to get to
his father s remains. He apologizes to Victor about his father s passing. Victors confusion leads him to
ask how he d found out which in terms leads Thomas to try to lighten the mood I heard it on the wind.

John Bowlby And Human Development
John Bowlby studied human development as a result of human attachment. After observing toddlers
who were left by their parents in a hospital, he realized that children have an emotional response to the
absence of their primary caregiver. Bowlby suggested that the toddlers who cry out for their parents
are not exhibiting disobedience (which hospital personal presumed), but rather a natural distress
brought on by ethology (Crain, 2011). Bowlby noted that animals exhibit behaviors in order to stay
close to their parents. These behaviors, such as, vocalizing a distress call are called attachment
behaviors (Crain, 2011). The toddlers that were separated from their parents in the hospitals engaged
in similar behaviors. The objective of the child

Joe Henderson In N Out Analysis
Joe Henderson was a tenor saxophonist was born on April 24, 1937, and lived until June 30, 2001. He
recorded several albums, including In n Out. It was recorded on April 10, 1964. On the album, Joe
Henderson is both the bandleader and tenor saxophonist. Kenny Dorham plays trumpet, McCoy Tyner
plays the piano, Richard Davis plays bass, and Elvin Jones plays the drums. The style of jazz on the
album has multiple aspects. The jazz quintet encompasses both a swing feeling (the swinging of the
eighth note), and has definite bebop influences. It also encompasses a feeling of the New York style
jazz. In n Out was recorded at Blue Note headquarters in New York. Being recorded in 1964, it was
music created during the span of the Vietnam War. It was also finally at a point where blacks were
receiving similar treatment to the white musicians, but there is still racial tension within society. Joe
Henderson and Kenny Dorham were both composers of music on this album, but no arrangers were
utilized. While there were many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This song exhibits a bright, happy mood and utilizes all musicians on the album. It has a moderate
tempo. Once again, this song does not have a strong, distinctive form. The introduction features the
saxophone and trumpet with the bass and drums comping them. The head begins and repeats itself
twice. The features soloists go in the order of trumpet (with piano comp), trumpet, piano, and then
bass. All solos are accompanied by the drums keeping the tempo. After the solos, the head repeats
once, there is a tag, and a sustained note. Just like the songs previously discussed, Brown s Town has
an instrument playing a melody being comped by the piano or bass, and the drums keep the swing beat
grooving. Overall, I thought the solos were much more complex in this song. I also liked it because it
was the first song that had a bass solo (out of the three being

Second And Third Wave Feminism
Throughout the twentieth century feminist movements changed the first world dramatically, but during
the second half the twentieth century the views and goals of what women wanted in life changed from
simply asking for fair pay and equal rights to jobs to wanting their lifestyle changed. The impact of the
second and third wave of feminists held a positive sphere around the fact that women had a bigger
voice in politics and economics, but socially feminism was almost purely negative. Feminist groups,
mostly in the late second wave and the entirety of the third wave, consisted almost entirely of
misandrists.

politics as well as the level of education women were receiving. ... Show more content on

Male suicide rate, bias towards men in family courts, domestic violence against men, men who are

have created a social imbalance between the genders resulting in a cataclysmic rise in negative male

Overall the feminist movements of the second and third wave have made a good positive difference
for both women and the global society as whole, however the radical groups of the second wave and
the third wave overall have created a negative sphere around the mistreatment of the genders, and as a
result men have become the more discriminated gender. The changes in politics and the new wave of

Moreover, it is not uncommon for this student to represent the community college as an athlete; in
keeping with traditional four year colleges and universities, student athletes enjoy the benefit of
housing as one prong of their athletic scholarship package, i.e. tuition, room and board. Other
attributes include vast numbers of first generation students, students of color, and full time students.
Perhaps the rationale behind the lack of on campus housing offered at community colleges, which is in
stark contrast to that of four year colleges and universities, is the fact that a large number of
community college students live in the community, or the urban community colleges are situated
whereby students may make use of mass transit means to get back and forth. This is how the system

at the hospital have fascinated me. Whenever we would go visit a friend who had a baby, I would find
myself peaking over the windows into the nursery. I have known for a while that working in the

Christianity, By Clive Staples Lewis
In Mere Christianity, Clive Staples Lewis, known as C.S Lewis known best for his writing, and being
a Christian apologist, divides the novel into 4 different section. Each book emphasizes the struggles he
has faced and overcome as well as personal life lessons he has learned. The first section, Right and
Wrong as a Clue to the Meaning of the Universe focus on moral law and the law of nature. Christians
Believe, second section, corresponds with his life because Lewis has had many interviews defending
his faith and studied the Bible thoroughly. In the third book, Christian Behaviour. It talks about all of
the different types of morals and behaviors Christians are called to follow because Lewis has studied
into Jesus s teaching he has a deeper understanding of what Jesus has called his followers to be.
Lastly, Beyond Personality: or First steps in the Doctrine of the Trinity, is about the first steps and the
process of becoming a Christian. Lewis went from an atheist to a highly Christian figure in the church
and believer society resulting into a lot of personal knowledge of the topics in his novel. C.S. Lewis s
life influences his writing in Mere Christianity through his ability to portray the foundation of
Christianity from the growth made from both his believer and non believer life, using the amount of
studies and research done defending the views of atheists and Christians, his studies in people and
Christian behavior, and finally how his intimate growth as a godly person

Race, Gender, and Ethnicity in American Law
The Virginia Military Institute was a higher education school in Virginia. It claimed to train the leaders
of the future, or citizen soldiers and impart to its students great discipline; however, it only enrolled
male students. In 1996, the United States government sued the state of Virginia and the Virginia
Military Institute for its male only policy as a violation of the Fourteenth amendment s Equal
Protection Clause. The District Court ruled in the school s favor. The Fourth Circuit demanded
Virginia to reverse this constitutional violation (Van Camp). In response to this complaint, Virginia
proposed a similar program for women: the Virginia Women s Institute for Leadership. The District
Court found that this plan satisfied the equal protection requirement, and the Fourth Circuit affirmed
that although these two institutions would differ in prestige (and the historical benefit), they would
still offer essentially similar educational opportunities. The United States then appealed to the
Supreme Court, and it raised the issue whether this new women s only academy satisfied the
Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. The Supreme court ruled, in a 7 to 1 decision, that
Virginia Military Institute s male only policy was unconstitutional. In order to not violate the Equal
Protection clause of the amendment, VMI must make its program available to women as well. VMI

The Equality Of Sports And Gender Equality In Sports
Women opportunities for competitive sports were very limited, their sport was considered recreational
rather than an actual sport, due to the fact that they were not competitive and there were less rules.
Title IX required society to acknowledge women sports on an equal term to that of men. There are
students participating in university sports, and these programs make an excessive amount of money
from selling the teams merchandise and tickets. There are apparel lines primarily based on athletic
wear, advertisements that consist of athletes promoting all kinds of things to get people to buy the
company s stuff etc. Although, professional leagues do offer opportunities to female athletes, the
treatment however, of a female athlete in society today is different in comparison of their male
counterparts when it comes to media, attendance, endorsements, and wages. Equality Throughout
history, women were to be seen as ladylike and to be seen as anything else. If they were to work out, it
would only be very little so they won t get muscular because it was seen as masculinity. It took a
couple of years for women to be in on the equality of sports. Women went through hardships to be
treated equally and to be accepted and to be seen as a college and/or professional athlete. In 1972,
Congress passes Title IX for the Education Amendments Act. Title IX has improved women s rights
immensely. requires gender equality for men and women in educational funding. When the

Woman in Combat Essay
The idea of women in combat is not unusual anymore. They should be able to hold combat positions
beacause although physical strength matters, the military still needs the intelligence that women can
bring. Also, banning women from the combat hurts their military careers. Although women account
for only ten percent of the enlisted personnel (Time, 8/21/95/ Pg. 31), they are still a major part in the
armed forces. Their performance recently has generated support from Congress and the public for
enhancing the role of females in the military.
During the Persian Gulf War, women were sent to the Middle East to fly helicopters, service combat
jets, refuel tankers, and load laser guided bombs. Their performance has led the world to realize that ...

In spite of their record as able combat personnel, there are laws and policies that restrict women in the
United States Military from serving in positions that require them to engage in direct combat. Women
in the Air Force and Navy are barred from aircraft and vessels that have a chance to be exposed to
combat. The official, established policies of the Army and Marine Corps exclude women from combat
(Snyder, pg. 75 76). These policies prohibit women, on the basis of gender only, from over twelve
percent of the skill positions and thirty nine percent of the total positions offered by the Department of
Defense. Such policies excluding women from combat need to be repealed by Congress.
The Fourteenth Amendment s quot;Equal Protection Clause quot; insures every citizen quot;the equal

Court said the Due Process Clause in the Fifth Amendment prohibits the federal government from
making unreasonable classifications. Therefore the set laws and policies that exclude women from
combat not only violate the Fifth Amendment, but also deny women their fundamental right to engage
and excel in their chosen occupation. There have been many court cases involving women in combat

Say No to Doping!
Doping in sports has been one of the most discussed issues by the world; either by the free writers or
the body of agencies related with sports. The discussion about this kind of issue has started long time
ago but it became more controversial and intense when Lance Armstrong, who won the 2002 Tour de
France by leaving his nearest rival 7 seconds behind, failed the drug test (Cashmore) . Ellis Cashmore,
a professor of culture, media, and sports at Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom, through
his article, Making Sense of Sports , came up with an argument that drug should be allowed in sports.
In the article, he effectively countered the argument of some people out there that taking drug will lead
to the unfair competition. As we are from the generation who are never bored of seeking the best in
human ability, the usage of drug is crucial in order to boost the performance of the athlete. The
prohibition of drug usage in sports surely will affect the athletes performances and next lead to the
turning off by the fans and this is surely a thing needs to be taken into account (Cashmore) . I, myself,
agree with Ellis Cashmore that drug should be allowed in sports and I will explain my argument in
terms of the misconception about drug, the role of drug in promising competitive sports, and the
function of drug in maintaining athletes health. First, in order to change the entire rule of sports by
allowing the presence of drug in sports, the misconception about

Jesus Seminar Thesis
Jesus is most definitely a symbol of hope, however, we need a foundation for our faith. Having
evidence about Jesus life, teaching, and resurrection provides a firm foundation for our faith. The
Jesus Seminar states that the Jesus of faith is merely just a symbol of hope that provides people with a
good feeling and a sense of security, but it s not the real Jesus of history. Contrary to this statement,
the Jesus of faith is the opposite and much more than the views of those from the Jesus Seminar. Much
of the historical evidence points to a historical Jesus who did many supernatural acts throughout his
lifetime. As Boyd says, Jesus is not a symbol of anything unless he s root in history. Those who state
that the Jesus of faith was merely

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Framing
framing comes from its ability to define the terms of a debate without the audience realizing it is
taking place. (Tankard, 2001, p. 96)
Using frames has the risk of finding only the frames I am unconsciously looking for. I might tend to
find conventional or stereotypical ways of looking at the content. I try to avoid that by always reflect
on my work and try to find different ways to look at it. Three kinds of framing exist. First, a frame can
be used to select and exclude parts. Second, frames can also be used to set a tone for issues or events.
The presentation or interpretation of events can change through the chosen frames. And the third one
is, that frames can be used as a central organizing idea to build the story in a specific way ... Show

[...] [S]cience can be made to look empirical or theoretical, pure or applied. (Gieryn, 1983, p. 781)
The demarcation of science is happening all the time in everyday practices and settings. It is created
and recreated in contrast to other forms of knowledge. In every situation, where scientists talk about
science, specific attributes are selected to counter them to non scientific knowledge forms. A particular
form of science is built up in every context, where it is talked about science, and also a contrast to that
one, which defines in this context what science is not. (Gieryn, 1983)
Analysis of the content of these ideologies suggests that science is no single thing: characteristics
attributed to science vary widely depending upon the specific intellectual or professional activity
designated as nonscience , and upon particular goals of the boundary work. The boundaries of science
are ambiguous, flexible, historically changing, contextually variable, internally inconsistent, and
sometimes disputed. [...] [S]cientific knowledge is at once theoretical and empirical, pure and applied,
objective and subjective, exact and estimative, democratic (open for all to confirm) and elitist (experts
alone confirm), limitless and limited (to certain domains of knowledge). (Gieryn, 1983,

Annotated Script Of A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
Guethshina V Altena
Project 2 Rough draft (Written script of video)
When talking about the rhetorical aspect of images, people tend to ignore the potential power that a
photograph has to convince someone. However, images such as those of veterans meeting their
relatives in tears use emotional appeal to convince their viewers so those viewers are far more likely to
agree with the message behind photo. In a sense, photographs can have a powerful impact on how one
sees and interpret the message that comes with an image.
I believe that many people underestimate the value and capacity of a picture to use rhetorical appeals.
It may be hard to realize that a visual image can have a great impact on someone; there is a Chinese
proverb that says: A picture is worth a thousand words and I strongly believe this statement to be true.
Looking at those three pictures of veterans with kids, everyone can see something different in them
and there ae multiples interpretations. Although there is a lot to be said about these photographs, I will
make my argument in a brief, clear and concise manner.
In order to measure the extent to which those photographs are appealing and rhetorical, it is crucial to
analyze every aspect of the picture without leaving any details behind. First let s look at the first
picture of a woman veteran hugging a children that we assume is her daughter. We must pay attention
to the expression on her face which is a happiness that is overwhelming, she looks like

The relationship that soon developed between Hazel and gus is what intrigued myself, how they both
were incredibly scared to hurt the other emotionally. They bonded over their overuse of symbols and

The Democracy Of A Democratic Government
A democratic government is one in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by
them directly or indirectly through a system of representation (Merriam Webster). In theory, a true
democracy is one that is governed by the people in the form of the rule of the majority . This is a
process that seems to have been naturally embedded in the human mind. In many circumstance,
whether it is world leaders deciding on new international policy, or kids choosing what to watch for
movie night , the rule of the majority seems to often prevail. Even so, in certain recognized democratic
nations such as Canada, the rule of the majority is not triumphant. It is inevitable that any political
system would have its shortcomings, but there are some flaws that are difficult to overlook especially
those that seem to undermine the democratic credibility of a nation. Due to a variety of factors, such
as politically inactive citizens and a not so representative electoral system, it is evident that the
Canadian democracy is lacking democracy.
By international standards, the Canadian democratic system is considered healthy; Canada regularly
receives the maximum score on global assessments of civil liberties, political rights and overall quality
of democracy. (Gidengil 2014, pg.3). For some, an evaluation like this is the only thing needed to be
convinced that the democracy in this country is sound. Unfortunately, such assessments merely
analyze the system from a distance,

group come and appear on their solo albums. The group is very cohesive on the group level for the
fact that after years and years of being together the group has never lost a member and no member has
ever swayed from the Wu Tang Clan principle United we stand, divide we fall . The group realizes that
together they are one. Group Formation The reason why the Wu Tang Clan formed was out of

Abstract
A virus isolate infecting soybean (Glycine max L.) with characteristic symptoms start as yellowish
patches (chlorosis) along the leaf,s main vein and sometimes between the veins, which turn into
necrotic brown or reddishbrown areas was collected from the Experimental farm of Faculty of
Agriculture, Cairo University ,Giza Governorate during May 2014/2015. To identify the causal virus,
the plants were tested by enzyme linked immunesorbent assay using antibodies against different
Tospovirus i,e. Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), Iris yellow spot virus (IYSV) and Soybean vein
necrosis virus (SVNV). Preliminary results revealed the presence of Soybean vein necrosis virus
(SVNV) in tested soybean plants by double antibody sandwich (DAS ELISA) using SVNV specific
antiserum and by tissue and dot blotting immuneo binding assay. SVNV was able to infect only 11
plant species from 28 tested by mechanical inoculation. The virus was transmitted by mechanical

Cerebrovascular Injury
Main Question Post Cerebrovascular accidents, or strokes, will lead to brain damage that affects the
functioning of executive function, memory, language, visuospatial performance and emotional states.
Corresponding vertebral arteries and carotid arteries provide blood to the brain from the heart that the
carotid arteries are internal and external sections of the thyroid cartilage. Where the optic nerve rests
the internal artery distributes into the anterior and middle cerebral arteries. The vertebral arteries arise
through the spinal vertebrae and meet the lower pons to form the basilar artery. The brain receives
15% to 20% of the oxygenated blood from the heart and can only endure fleeting interruptions of

It is important to agree with them, contradiction leads to frustration for both individual and caregiver.
If they have trouble with language, understanding, speak slowly with simple words, using gentle tones
and repeating them. Utilize visual cues often, show the brush brushing your hair. Do not get into
verbal conflict, walk away to calm yourself, then come back and listen to them. Always stay with a
routine, this allows the body memory to work; same time waking, bedtime, meals, dressing and
bathing. Participate in simple activities, things they enjoy doing (Paturel, 2015). The caregiver also
needs to take care of themselves by eating healthy, and regularly as well as getting enough sleep. A
caregiver can achieve this by cultivating a network of support or join a support group of caregivers.
Understanding the behaviors of the stroke patient is not personal is critical, it is symptoms of the
disease. Living in the moment with the individual who suffered a stroke is key, the moments of marvel

Comparing Poems Daddy And My Papa s Waltz
The relationship between a parent and child is an unbreakable bond. Especially a father and daughter
relationship, that is how we got the saying Daddy s Little Girl. In the two poems Daddy written by
Sylvia Plath and My Papa s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke we see how each poet expresses their
parental relationships in their poems. Daddy, I have had to kill you. You died before I had time.
(Sylvia 1 2) In the poem, Daddy we are introduced to the speaker/narrator and their father s
relationship. Comparing him to Hitler and the Devil we assume that their relationship was not the
greatest. While in the poem My Papa s Waltz , he has a different appreciation for his father, which is
loving and affectionate, we can analyze this by reading the keywords used in the title, Papa and Waltz
we get a sense that the young boy in his poem, who we believe to be Theodore Roethke, loves his
father dearly as he calls him papa and dances the night away with him. Both Sylvia Plath and

Typically aggressive behavior is an attribute that comes along with drinking. In My Papa s Waltz The
father s drunkenness doesn t make him an abusive father but a loving one. Although some may
interpret Theodore Roethke and his waltz with his father as aggressive due to his saying, We romped
until the pans, Slid from the kitchen shelf, my mother s countenance, Could not unfrown itself.
(Roethke 4 8) If analyzed deeper their waltz caused the pans to fall from the shelf due to the father s
intoxication. While being under the influence one may find it hard to keep balance, especially while
having a child holding on to the belt and standing on your feet. Although stating that his mother is
frowning, it is not because she is angry inside but angry because of her kitchen becoming disarrayed.
On the inside, she is glad to see her husband and son bonding

Differences Between Facts And Theories Of Math And History...
Differences in the Relationship between Facts and Theories: Math and History Theories have been
defines as integrated set of concepts formed into propositions that explain different phenomena or
events (Schneider 2), while facts as thing that is undisputed as the case or corresponds to the truth
(Mellor 110). Both facts and theories are used to generate knowledge that can be applied in verse
situations. However, the relationship between facts and theories differs between different areas of
knowledge and there is no universal law dictating it, with some areas such as math having the theories
precede the facts, while other areas such as history having the facts precede the theories. This paper
will discuss the differences in the relationship of facts and theories of math and history using calculus
and World War II respectively. First argument The first argument analyses math and the notion that
theories precede the facts in this field. This argument uses calculus as a real life situation. Calculus is a
branch of mathematics involved with the calculation of varying quantities (Rohde et al. 1). It is
considered significant because it provides principles required to calculate quantities that cannot be
calculated using other mathematical concepts such as algebra or geometry (Rohde et al. 1; and Ledder
5 ). Most of its concepts apply deductive thinking making it one of the most applied mathematical
concepts in real life situations. Like most mathematical branches calculus is

The Ethics Of A Pharmaceutical Company
In order to view ethical dilemmas, we have to evaluate descriptive ethics that are present in a situation.
These descriptive ethics lay the foundation, to which, we are able to understand a circumstance in its
entirety. They are the concrete evidence where we can access all ethical boundaries and establish what
is considered morally inhabitable. What causes us to question morality, the principles that help us
determine right from wrong and good or bad (Beauchamp 2), is that the livelihood of a person or a
group of people are at stake. In the medical field, morality is questioned with every decision that is
made. Everyone hopes for the best outcome. With this outcome, individual roles can be questioned.
Who made the right decision, was it just and how does it affect the people around me or even them.
Martin Shkreli is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company named Turing Pharmaceuticals. His company
recently received rights to Daraprim, which is an anti viral drug used to treat toxoplasmosis in illness
directly related to HIV and cancer. The concern is that Martin raised the price of the medication from
$17.30 a pill to $750. With no remorse to the patient, who may not be able to afford this treatment, he
does not follow his word on lowering the price. He feels that pharmaceutical companies need to make
a profit, as well. There are so many ethical concerns with this situation. First, I would like to talk
about the moral principles that Martin lacks. Somewhere in his brain he

Seat Belt Safety A young man was being pulled over for not wearing his seat belt, while the officer was writing the violator a citation, a drunk, and speeding driver haphazardly sped past them running into a guiltless bystander. It may seem like having more stringent seat belt laws is a reputable idea; Nevertheless, It is not the most feasible way to maintain safety on the road, Drivers would be safer if they merely exercised some common sense to put down their cell phones and paid attention to the road. Failing to wear a seat belt should not be illegal because it only affects the driver s safety, it is impractical for police to enforce, and lastly, the majority of people already wears a seat belt. By not wearing a seat belt only the driver s security is affected. First, Whenever a driver is not using his seat belt the protection of others on the road is not affected (Balaker 113). • 3. Genre Example Of A Brochure Sample Introduction The genre samples for the proposal of a new grocery store near the MNSU campus will be explained below. An email, brochure, questionnaire and a flowchart are among the genre examples explained. Each will give a brief explanation behind choosing that specific genre example. Email The first Genre Sample I chose, was to write an email to Eric Anderson, the mayor of the Mankato City Council. I decided to write to Eric Anderson because I assumed he would be the best person to contact about starting a proposal for a new grocery store near the Minnesota State University Mankato campus. Eric Anderson could then give me some pointers on continuing this proposal and what I should do next in being able to get this approved for construction. Within the email to Eric Anderson, I stated the main purpose in writing this email to him. I proceeded to state the reasoning why there is a need for a grocery store near the MNSU campus. Finally, I asked him for any feedback on the proposal and that I looked forward to hearing back to him. At the end of the email I tried to be as professional as possible and listed my name and then some contact information of mine as well. Brochure The brochure I created will be available to the entire Mankato Community along with all the students at Minnesota State University Mankato. This brochure will be available at many locations throughout Mankato, with a major emphasis of them being around the MNSU campus. Some specific spots people will be able to find these brochures are on the MNSU campus in the CSU and surrounding business of the MNSU campus, like Kwik Trip as an example. I created this brochure to show the reason why we should have a grocery store near the MNSU campus. I wanted the brochure to be concise, but also wanted it to provide enough information to the readers. I added some fun colors to the brochure to make it a little more visually appealing. I also added some pictures throughout the brochure to give the reader some visual aids of the proposed grocery store plan. Questionnaire The questionnaire will be given out to any and every student, first year freshman to a graduate student, who is walking through the CSU at Minnesota State University Mankato. The ... This project has been widely accepted and praised by many local government officials and business people as a tremendous step forward and a driver for the city s growth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Convention centers are generally not expected to make a profit on their operations or cover their construction costs . As a result, the vast majority of projects are covered by government funding with the hope that the economic benefits for the city will justify this subsidy. These new or refurbished convention centers are expected to bring in more foreign visitors, increasing tourism and bringing in foreign capital. While this can be true, examples of success stories lie in cities where tourism is already prevalent and lends themselves to larger cities far more than smaller ones . Similarly, projections are made under the assumption that all conference and event attendees will be visitors. Project revenue received from local hotels, restaurants, and stores is determined under this premise. This assumption is largely exaggerated, as studies have shown that the number of hotel rooms estimated to be used during a given year was one third of the initial projections. This is because locals make up a large portion of conference attendees . As a result, most spending is from local residents rather than visitors, completely negating the purpose of building a center to bring in external revenue. It is apparent that since attendees are primarily local residents, there is no increase in sales revenue at neighboring businesses. Where the germ of the idea came from is pretty much irrelevant. What matters to every theatre maker, I know, is speaking clearly to the audience right now. This quote by English playwright and screenwriter, Lee Hall, from an essay he published in the Times of London, is central to the connection between theatre and motion picture technology. Since the rise of film in the early twentieth century, these elements have been influencing each other, and working together, to elevate the storytelling and experience of each medium and, in turn, better connecting them to the modern audience. The collaboration of these two mediums has resulted in a new form of theatre, known as digital theatre, that shows theatrical entertainment does not have to be either purist (involving only live actors on stage), or be consumed by the dominant televisual mass media, but can gain from the strengths of both types of communication. (Masura). Throughout this paper, the intersection of theatre and motion picture technology will be explored through their effect on each other, in storytelling and experience, and the product of their collaboration digital theatre. To begin understanding these medium s influence on one another, it is important to note that theatre s effect on motion picture technology, and vice versa, does not alter the core principles of each ... Asian empires like Timur in Central Eurasia, the Ming and Qing, as well as the Mughals, Ottomans, and Safavids expanded their territories through military conquest and commercial penetration. As they established political control over much more vast tracts of land, new commercial networks and culture interactions were also emerged. Also, it was a time of global imperial expansion. The Ming (1368 1644) and later the Qing (1644 1911) dynasties of China expanded broadly across central Asia into Mongolia, Turkestan, and Tibet. The Ming dynasty put a considerable emphasis on oceanic exploration. A dramatic example of the Ming s prowess at the time can be seen in the expansive voyages of Zheng He. He commanded the Ming dynasty s fleet of immense trading vessels on expeditions ranging as far as Africa between 1405 and 1423, helping to extend Chinese maritime and commercial influence throughout the regions bordering the Indian Ocean. Per gender stereotypes, girls like princesses and boys like cars. These gender roles, however, do not just apply to children. These roles are still very prominent in grown up society. The pay gap between men and women Gender roles are a big part of humankind society. There is insurmountable evidence that points to the idea that gender stereotypes is largely accomplished through social factors. Scholars in both sociological and psychological fields believe that gender is constructed through the modeling of appropriate behaviors and the use of systematic rewards and punishments. Evidence also shows that many aspects of gender are not innate, as evidenced by children who do not exhibit a gender specific preference in friends, clothing or toys when placed in gender neutral settings. Only after negative reactions from parents, teachers, or friends do many children begin to take on the gender roles society comes to see as appropriate for them. One of these factors is a record breaking positive public perception of cannabis among Canadians. From the beginning of my existence, I believe my literacy has compounded upon itself to bring me to my present state. I will measure my different literacy stages in parallel with the type of schooling I went through (i.e. elementary, middle, and high school). As my literary power grew, the significance at which it held to me personally, also rose. Therefore, I will be measuring the direct relationship between the significance and power of my personal literacy. Within the time frame of my elementary school years, I was able to develop the basic foundation for a long lasting literacy skill. Directing the attention towards reading, I can trace those roots back to the days of early computer games. For example, when I was a wee lad, I did not have a computer at my house, so I went to my grandma s house and used her computer. While on the computer I discovered a little game by the name of Putt Putt. The game involved the following of Putt Putt, a tiny purple car, and his crusade to save those who are in troublesome situations such as losing their shovel. But there s definitely improvement between the last episode and this one, which wrings more drama from a muted confrontation between Cooper and Horne over Audrey s semi conscious body than the last episode got out of some hardcore undercover police action and Blackie s unexpected murder. Cooper s scenes with Horne bristle with tension and MacLachlan is in particularly fine form this time out, whether lamenting past mistakes or helping to conduct the weird, episode ending chemically induced séance. More on that in a bit. But first, some farewells. Josie says goodbye to both Horne and Truman, showing her dark side in one scene and her good side in the next. Is she just posing when she s with Truman or has he unwittingly made her a better person? I ve never really gotten a handle on the character and I m not sure if that s my fault or the shows. After observing toddlers who were left by their parents in a hospital, he realized that children have an emotional response to the absence of their primary caregiver. It was recorded on April 10, 1964. On the album, Joe Henderson is both the bandleader and tenor saxophonist. Kenny Dorham plays trumpet, McCoy Tyner plays the piano, Richard Davis plays bass, and Elvin Jones plays the drums. The style of jazz on the album has multiple aspects. The jazz quintet encompasses both a swing feeling (the swinging of the eighth note), and has definite bebop influences. It also encompasses a feeling of the New York style jazz. In n Out was recorded at Blue Note headquarters in New York. Being recorded in 1964, it was music created during the span of the Vietnam War. Race, Gender, And Ethnicity Shivani Amin Professor Trefethen Philosophy 5 4 November 2015 Race, Gender, and Ethnicity in American Law The Virginia Military Institute was a higher education school in Virginia. It claimed to train the leaders of the future, or citizen soldiers and impart to its students great discipline; however, it only enrolled male students. In 1996, the United States government sued the state of Virginia and the Virginia Military Institute for its male only policy as a violation of the Fourteenth amendment s Equal Protection Clause. The District Court ruled in the school s favor. The Fourth Circuit demanded Virginia to reverse this constitutional violation (Van Camp). In response to this complaint, Virginia proposed a similar program for women: the Virginia Women s Institute for Leadership. The District Court found that this plan satisfied the equal protection requirement, and the Fourth Circuit affirmed that although these two institutions would differ in prestige (and the historical benefit), they would still offer essentially similar educational opportunities. The United States then appealed to the Supreme Court, and it raised the issue whether this new women s only academy satisfied the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. The Supreme court ruled, in a 7 to 1 decision, that Virginia Military Institute s male only policy was unconstitutional. In order to not violate the Equal Protection clause of the amendment, VMI must make its program available to women as well. VMI ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Title IX required society to acknowledge women sports on an equal term to that of men. There are students participating in university sports, and these programs make an excessive amount of money from selling the teams merchandise and tickets. There are apparel lines primarily based on athletic wear, advertisements that consist of athletes promoting all kinds of things to get people to buy the company s stuff etc. Although, professional leagues do offer opportunities to female athletes, the treatment however, of a female athlete in society today is different in comparison of their male counterparts when it comes to media, attendance, endorsements, and wages. Equality Throughout history, women were to be seen as ladylike and to be seen as anything else. If they were to work out, it would only be very little so they won t get muscular because it was seen as masculinity. It took a couple of years for women to be in on the equality of sports. Women went through hardships to be treated equally and to be accepted and to be seen as a college and/or professional athlete. In 1972, Congress passes Title IX for the Education Amendments Act. The discussion about this kind of issue has started long time ago but it became more controversial and intense when Lance Armstrong, who won the 2002 Tour de France by leaving his nearest rival 7 seconds behind, failed the drug test (Cashmore) . Ellis Cashmore, a professor of culture, media, and sports at Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom, through his article, Making Sense of Sports , came up with an argument that drug should be allowed in sports. In the article, he effectively countered the argument of some people out there that taking drug will lead to the unfair competition. As we are from the generation who are never bored of seeking the best in human ability, the usage of drug is crucial in order to boost the performance of the athlete. The prohibition of drug usage in sports surely will affect the athletes performances and next lead to the turning off by the fans and this is surely a thing needs to be taken into account (Cashmore) . The Democracy Of A Democratic Government A democratic government is one in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation (Merriam Webster). In theory, a true democracy is one that is governed by the people in the form of the rule of the majority . This is a process that seems to have been naturally embedded in the human mind. In many circumstance, whether it is world leaders deciding on new international policy, or kids choosing what to watch for movie night , the rule of the majority seems to often prevail. Even so, in certain recognized democratic nations such as Canada, the rule of the majority is not triumphant. It is inevitable that any political system would have its shortcomings, but there are some flaws that are difficult to overlook especially those that seem to undermine the democratic credibility of a nation. Due to a variety of factors, such as politically inactive citizens and a not so representative electoral system, it is evident that the Canadian democracy is lacking democracy. To identify the causal virus, the plants were tested by enzyme linked immunesorbent assay using antibodies against different Tospovirus i,e. Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), Iris yellow spot virus (IYSV) and Soybean vein necrosis virus (SVNV). Preliminary results revealed the presence of Soybean vein necrosis virus (SVNV) in tested soybean plants by double antibody sandwich (DAS ELISA) using SVNV specific antiserum and by tissue and dot blotting immuneo binding assay. SVNV was able to infect only 11 plant species from 28 tested by mechanical inoculation. The virus was transmitted by mechanical means and by phytophagous thrips species; the most efficient vector was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where the optic nerve rests the internal artery distributes into the anterior and middle cerebral arteries. • 46. Comparing Poems Daddy And My Papa s Waltz The relationship between a parent and child is an unbreakable bond. Especially a father and daughter relationship, that is how we got the saying Daddy s Little Girl. In the two poems Daddy written by Sylvia Plath and My Papa s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke we see how each poet expresses their parental relationships in their poems. Daddy, I have had to kill you. You died before I had time. (Sylvia 1 2) In the poem, Daddy we are introduced to the speaker/narrator and their father s relationship. Comparing him to Hitler and the Devil we assume that their relationship was not the greatest. While in the poem My Papa s Waltz , he has a different appreciation for his father, which is loving and affectionate, we can analyze this by reading the keywords used in the title, Papa and Waltz we get a sense that the young boy in his poem, who we believe to be Theodore Roethke, loves his father dearly as he calls him papa and dances the night away with him. Both Sylvia Plath and Theodore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Typically aggressive behavior is an attribute that comes along with drinking. In My Papa s Waltz The father s drunkenness doesn t make him an abusive father but a loving one. Although some may interpret Theodore Roethke and his waltz with his father as aggressive due to his saying, We romped until the pans, Slid from the kitchen shelf, my mother s countenance, Could not unfrown itself. (Roethke 4 8) If analyzed deeper their waltz caused the pans to fall from the shelf due to the father s intoxication. While being under the influence one may find it hard to keep balance, especially while having a child holding on to the belt and standing on your feet. Although stating that his mother is frowning, it is not because she is angry inside but angry because of her kitchen becoming disarrayed. • 47. Differences Between Facts And Theories Of Math And History... Differences in the Relationship between Facts and Theories: Math and History Theories have been defines as integrated set of concepts formed into propositions that explain different phenomena or events (Schneider 2), while facts as thing that is undisputed as the case or corresponds to the truth (Mellor 110). Both facts and theories are used to generate knowledge that can be applied in verse situations. However, the relationship between facts and theories differs between different areas of knowledge and there is no universal law dictating it, with some areas such as math having the theories precede the facts, while other areas such as history having the facts precede the theories. This paper will discuss the differences in the relationship of facts and theories of math and history using calculus and World War II respectively. First argument The first argument analyses math and the notion that theories precede the facts in this field. This argument uses calculus as a real life situation. Calculus is a branch of mathematics involved with the calculation of varying quantities (Rohde et al. 1). It is considered significant because it provides principles required to calculate quantities that cannot be calculated using other mathematical concepts such as algebra or geometry (Rohde et al. 1; and Ledder 5 ). Most of its concepts apply deductive thinking making it one of the most applied mathematical concepts in real life situations. Like most mathematical branches calculus is ... • 48. The Ethics Of A Pharmaceutical Company In order to view ethical dilemmas, we have to evaluate descriptive ethics that are present in a situation. These descriptive ethics lay the foundation, to which, we are able to understand a circumstance in its entirety. They are the concrete evidence where we can access all ethical boundaries and establish what is considered morally inhabitable. What causes us to question morality, the principles that help us determine right from wrong and good or bad (Beauchamp 2), is that the livelihood of a person or a group of people are at stake. In the medical field, morality is questioned with every decision that is made. Everyone hopes for the best outcome. With this outcome, individual roles can be questioned. Who made the right decision, was it just and how does it affect the people around me or even them. Martin Shkreli is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company named Turing Pharmaceuticals. His company recently received rights to Daraprim, which is an anti viral drug used to treat toxoplasmosis in illness directly related to HIV and cancer. The concern is that Martin raised the price of the medication from $17.30 a pill to $750. With no remorse to the patient, who may not be able to afford this treatment, he does not follow his word on lowering the price. He feels that pharmaceutical companies need to make a profit, as well. There are so many ethical concerns with this situation. First, I would like to talk about the moral principles that Martin lacks. Somewhere in his brain he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
