Curfew Laws Do you think it s okay to stay out all night if you re not causing problems? Do you
really think that young teens our out causing problems? The state thinks it s a problem for children
under the age of 18 being out late without superfusion. Police officers say children that are out late are
most likely out doing things they not supposed to be doing.Curfew laws shouldn t be a law because
they are unfair to the children that don t cause problems and know how to act in public. Children
shouldn t be punished for things others are doing. On the one hand, some argue that curfew laws are
unfair to children that don t cause problems. It s unfair for all children that know how to behave to be
punished for what the children that don t have no home training actions. There should only be
consequences for those that don t know how to act in public, everyone shouldn t have to suffer for the
problems someone else is causing. Supports say teenagers shouldn t have a curfew because teenagers

The Powerful Use Of Abuse In Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston
Sweat Looka heah, Sykes, you done gone too fur. Ah been married to you fur fifteen years, and Ah
been takin in washin for fifteen years. Sweat, sweat, sweat! Work and sweat, cry and sweat, pray and
sweat! Does living with abuse help you gain the strength to become a stronger woman? Also, when
does enough become enough? Such a quote is found in Zora Neale Hurston s short story, Sweat . This
quote expresses the discussion theme better than any story that has ever been told before about abuse
that is endured during a relationship. This quote helped me realize many different things that women
tend to go through in a relationship. A lot of times women take abuse, whether it is physical, mental or
emotional abuse. Society also tends to put women in a category that is beneath a man, which may give
a man the thought of him having power over women, but in actual reality this is called abuse. The
definition of abuse is the improper use of something, and that is exactly what is happening to Delia in
Sweat .
Zora Neale Hurston was considered one of the pre eminent writers of twentieth century African
American literature. Hurston was closely associated with the Harlem Renaissance. She has also
influenced writers such as Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, Gayle Jones, Alice Walker, and Toni Cade
Bambara. Looking at her work, it can be found to be read as a work of feminist fiction, but it is not
why you would think it would be. The quote also possess that the character is faced with

A Research Paper On Julie Goodnight Essay
Research Paper Julie Goodnight was raised on a horse farm in Orlando, Florida, where she was raised
riding horses. In her youth, she started taking riding lessons in English riding and started to pursue
hunter jumping. She started competing in hunter jumping shows. She began training at competitive
facilities to get the training need to start riding in more elite hunter jumping competitions. During her
college years in New Mexico, Goodnight got a job exercising Thoroughbreds on a nearby racetrack.
After college, she got a job in Colorado, where she was a trail guide in the Rocky Mountains. While in
Colorado, she worked at an Arabian training farm, then started to form her own training facility and
camp. Through these experiences, she gained experience in many different disciplines such as: cutting,
jumping, racing, colt starting, dressage, reining, and wilderness riding (juliegoodnight.com).
Goodnight has commented many times that she believes this is what gives her an advantage in the

Reflection Of Psalm 121
I read this passage to Cindy a few times over the last 2 ½ years. It always seemed to bring her peace as
she processed her next step in this journey. Psalm 121 seems to speak of the tough times in our lives
and how we can still find peace. God does not live in some celestial tower, far away from the world
God created. God cares for all the people and all of creation. God cares for us amidst all the twists and
turns of life s journey. It is that conviction which inspires Psalm 121, a Psalm I read again to Cindy in
the last week of her life. Psalm 121 is sometimes called „the traveler‟s Psalm‟. It was a psalm sung by
pilgrims as they made their annual journey to Jerusalem. It expressed their faith in God, but also
reflected the unease they felt about travel. I look to the mountains; where will my help come from?
(v.1). Mountains may be beautiful, but they can also be dangerous. Mountains are places where people
lose their lives. No, the hills are not the place from which our help comes rather they are the place
where help is needed. Here in this Psalm, the hills or mountains represented the perils of the journey,
for it was in the ravines and gorges of the mountain ranges that wild beasts and robbers hid. As the
pilgrims looked to the mountain ranges they had to cross if they were to reach Jerusalem, they were
filled with foreboding and wondered from where their help would come. It is in this situation that the
Psalmist declares: My help will come from the Lord, the

conquered almost all of present day India, and he drove people out of their homes.

Write An Argumentative Essay On Bigfoot
My logic is that i think bigfoot is real because,if god put dinosaurs and all them kind of animals what s
the difference between a flying thing that can eat u or a 1000 pound trex monster different than a bear
human like creature that we humans call bigfoot. Scientist found skulls and bones of bigfoot but some
people have claimed to have saw bigfoot but some people have also said they have seen ghost

than what people think they are but when it is night and u see a figure in the dark sometimes people
think it is a lot bigger than what it appears to be.Scientist have studied bigfoot and found a bunch of
evidence the proved bigfoot is real like one of the things that the scientist found was big bones that

The Birth of Muhammad and Islam
The Islamic religion is not only a religion, but a complex lifestyle full of dynamic truth which has a
past that spans over fourteen centuries. It s history encompasses the ancient spirits of people from
North Africa as far as Malaysia. Islam is also one of the youngest major religions as the Qur an came
down to Muhammad six centuries after Jesus, so that a large portion of the developed world which it
soon overran had been evangelized for centuries (Burrell 1). Although Islam was budding, it has
grown into one of the world s largest religions having a following of over one billion. Islam is known
to be the fastest growing faith worldwide, and in recent years has made striking advances in North
America (3). The rapid expansion of the community of Believers after Muhammad s death has its
roots in the events of the last years of his life ( Donner 92). Islam can be abridged into three
timeframes that are as follows; The Time of Ingratitude, Muhammad s life and story, and the
organizations and laws that were created after the demise of the prophet.
The holiest declaration or Shahada in Islam is There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his
messenger (Fieser 373). Islam found its origins in Arabia and it takes after every one of the standards
given by God which were translated through Muhammad. Muslims on the other hand, are the
individuals who hone this religion as

Change Management Essay
Change Management
Change is not something to be taken lightly. This issue of change is one of the greatest challenges in
the workplace today (Fralix, P., 1998). One of the pitfalls of change within an organization is
employees fear of what change will bring. Will implementing new technologies destroy my job? Will I
be able to keep up with the changes in my organization? These are some of the questions that bring
about employee apprehension to changes in business. This very apprehension can determine the
success or the failure of change within that system. Yet change is inevitable. Much like the Darwinian
theory of survival, the company that can adapt with changes in emerging technologies will survive in
today s society. So how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since change is inevitable, ongoing process, these management levers must constantly be altered also
(1997).
Even though this is not an altogether accurate definition from an instructional technology standpoint,
it does contain factors about change management. Most companies are concerned with aligning
themselves with their marketplace. Who hasn t seen a PetSmart or a KayBee s commercial where the
consumer may order his/her toys for either pet or human online. These corporations have aligned
themselves to their marketplace Ebusiness. Another factor in change management is the tools to
accomplish this smooth transition. Most companies will agree that one must look at strategy,
operations of the actual and the optimal systems, culture of the work environment, and incentives to
those who facilitate the smooth changes. Also change is an ongoing process, so management of that
change is also going to be an ongoing process. In order to prepare for change within the company, it is
important to identify any destabilizing forces that bring about change.
Change can be stimulated by three specific forces external and three specific internal forces to the
organization
External Forces
Society Political/legal environment Technological developments
Internal Forces

The Veil
In The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. Du Bois, the idea of the Veil is a dominant theme throughout
the book. The Veil is a social phenomenon that describes the divide between black and white
Americans through social and economic issues. To demonstrate these issues Du Bois utilizes vivid
imagery to cement the abstract concept that is the Veil. He likens it by bringing together visions of the
sea and land, exploring the parallels of John and John, personifying it into his own son and contrasting
the city and rural village. Through this exploration of imagery, Du Bois creates a concrete image of
the Veil and it s warring sides. The Veil represents the division between the free and the imprisoned,

Examples Of The Modern Tragic Hero
A tragic hero is a character that the audience identifies with. This character is born into a high
position, or worked diligently to achieve their goal. They possess a quality unknown to them, that
causes their downfall. Through strife and a long journey, the tragic hero is able to redeem humanity.
Three main theories of the tragic hero are the Aristotelian model, the Shakespearean model, and the
modern tragic hero. For instance, nobility is characterized by being upper class and having elevated
character. Romeo satisfies both these criteria through his position as son of the Montague family, and
he was even referred to as a gentleman by his enemies. Although he was respected by many, Romeo s

Hamilton is one individual that follows the modern tragic hero. Although known as the father of the
financial system, he started from nothing. While he gained immense power, Hamilton also had a
significant tragic flaw that contributed to his downfall. This hamartia eventually will lead to his
downfall like the literary examples. However, through his inability to stay passive he was able to
move to America. Continuing on in America he worked his way up the ranks, making enemies as he
gained power. Over time his opposition decided that he was becoming too much to handle and needed
to thwart his intentions. He was discredited and fell to nothingness which was his biggest fear because
he had not stayed passive, and had fought the

Reflection Of The Illinois Symphony Orchestra
The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Concert on October 14th featured three pieces; The Birds,
Concerto for Violin, Cello, Piano, and Orchestra in C Major, and Symphony No.5. All the pieces were
lovely and were entertaining to listen to. This concert also featured the Hersh Trio, comprised of
Alexander Hersh on the cello, Stefan Hersh on the violin, and Paul Hersh on the piano, which the
orchestra accompanied for one piece.
The first piece played by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra was The Birds composed by Ottorino
Respighi. Ottorino Respighi is best known for his orchestral tone poems, such as Fountains of Rome.
He based his work, The Birds, off of 16th, 17th, and 18th century style music because he had an
interest in music from these eras as a musicologist. There are five movements; Preludio, La Colomba,
La Gallina, L Usignolo, and Il Cuccu. They are meant to resemble types of birds. For example, La
Colomba means dove, La Gallina means hen. The first movement, Preludio, was light and airy. This
was a good piece to start with because of its playful melody. There was a large ritardando into a new
melody that clearly resembled sounds of a bird. The second theme sounded fluttery because of the
trills. The movement then returned to the first theme and ended on a large chord. The second
movement, La Colomba, didn t start out nearly as upbeat and jittery as the previous movement. Given
the context of the name, this makes more sense considering the connotation of a dove is

Anzac Legend Essay
The Anzac legend is still relevant in today s society as it reminds Australians and New Zealands of the
sacrifice they made to protect our country and let us live in freedom. The legend defines our national
identity and helps shape our national reputation so that other countries can look at us as and think of
us as a country who are determined, brave, resilient and helps our mates when they are in trouble.
Almost a whole generation of young men was lost and they deserved to be remembered. The soldiers
continued to fight during challenging times and when they felt as though it was too hard and should
give up. They slept in wet and dirty clothes and barely had enough food to survive. Australia wouldn t
be Australia without the legend of the soldiers who sacrificed themselves for us.
Australian had only just become a federated country when war broke out and the British command
had asked for the Australian and New Zealanders to join them their military, this was Australia s first
war as an independant country. At the time Australia s government saw this as a chance to show the
world that they weren t just a nation descended from convicts and deserved a place in Britain s great
military tradition (Darlington, 2012; wiliam, 2017). The Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army
Corps) were then established, with approximately 500 000 Australian men enlisted thinking they
would be home by Christmas, 40% of these men were aged between 18 and 45 (Macmillan, 2012),

Yayoi Kusama s Narcissus Garden
Artist Yayoi Kusama s Narcissus Garden is an art installation which consists of 1500 convex mirror
globes tightly arranged in water reflecting and repeating the artist, the audience, and its surroundings.
The first exhibition took place at the 33rd Venice Biennale in 1966 and later on around the world.
Yayoi Kusama creates this masterpiece as an allusion to Narcissus in Ovid s Metamorphoses. In Ovid
s Metamorphoses, Tiresias, a blind seer, predicts that Narcissus, a young boy, would live to ripe old
age as long as he does not know himself (3.447). Narcissus is desired by everyone: males, females,
and even nymphs such as Echo. But Narcissus rejects everyone s advances. Narcissus, worn out from
people chasing him, rests near a spring and upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He dies in pain and transforms into a flower. Kusama s art installation relates to this myth as she
projects the audience and herself as Narcissus(es). With these convex mirror globes, Kusama attempts
to reveal the self love each person has for themselves. By revisiting the myth of Narcissus and placing
it in another mode of genre while challenging common art conventions, Kusama attempts to display
the sociological, psychological, and identity issues of her time. A display of shimmering balls in water
or field of grass does not seem to echo the Narcissus myth, and yet Kusama s work is paratextual and
hypertextual. Paratextuality is a term used by French literary theorist Gerard Genette and is defined in
Graham Allen s Intertextuality as all the elements which stand on the threshold of a text (Allen 223).
Kusama uses peritexts such as titles and labels to draw the attention to Narcissus (Allen 100). When
Kusama displayed her art, she placed two labels next to it: Narcissus Garden and Your Narcissism for
Sale . Her installation is also hypertextual in that it involves the connection between the hypertext , a
later text, with a hypotext or earlier text (Allen 104) The word narcissus has multiple meanings which

service while continuing to service as many clients that want to be serviced. This device has proven to
be a success for UPS because customers are able to get real time information on delivery status and
great reliability as a result of the back up system. In 1998, UPS changed its purpose in the company
charter to, We enable global commerce (mobileinfo, 1999). Therefore, UPS technology upgrade was a
benefit for the company to give it a competitive edge. Through the upgrade UPS was able to
accommodate the volume of customers and their demand for delivered packages. UPS accessed the
Industry, recognized the need for change, and responded with a device that met their technological
needs. Although UPS might have faced some challenges with the implementation of the device;
however, they prevailed and is still one of Americas top choice delivery company. If UPS hadn t taken

Genome wide association study has been very useful in the recent years. It has helped researchers to

the most common in women. Even though, breast cancer is detected easily with mammograms or self

history, there have been a countless number of people that are identified as leaders. An effective leader
will possess the desired characteristics and will be able to assess a variety of tasks. According to
Dereli (2003), there are a number of definitions of leadership, and the literature suggests that there is a
distinction between a leader and a manager. Winston and Patterson (2006) state that leadership is
defined as one or more individuals, who are able to select a variety of strategies, and influence
followers to work towards a common goal or objective. Darr s (2011) research distinguishes managers
and leaders based on the idea that managers take on the caretaker role, whereby maintaining the status
quo. This can be identified as a transactional leadership role (Darr, 2011). Odumeru and Ifeanyi (2013)
state that the transactional role requires the individual to supervise and organise group performance.
Darr (2011) also states that in comparison to a manager, leaders are seen to be more as visionaries and
much more dynamic. Many leaders are viewed differently, because they possess or demonstrate
transformational leadership qualities and characteristics . Yukl (1999)

The Effect Of Maternal Vocalizations On Domestic, Post...
Introduction The focus of this survey is the role of maternal vocalizations in domestic, post parturient
goats. The subtleties of call characteristics and recognition have yet to be researched in depth, but
recent studies have shown that these calls are more individualized than previously supposed. Goats are
a highly social, vocal species, and does will use a variety of vocal and non vocal behaviors to establish
a connection with her kid(s). The bond between mother and infant is near immediate as few as five to
ten minutes are all that is needed to establish the connection and care is exclusive. Immediately after
parturition, licking is accompanied by numerous low and high pitched bleats, instigating the mother
kid bond (Poindron et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As early as fifteen hours after birth, kids will leave their mothers to sequester themselves to a hiding
spot, while the mother eats, rests, and ruminates. During this hiding phase, it will spend very little
time with her within the first week of life, except to nurse (Lickliter Heron). During at least the first
two days of life for the neonate, vocal recognition tends to be unidirectional. That is, a kid may
recognize its mother s call, but a doe may not recognize her kid s call. Mother kid interactions have
been found to be primarily instigated by the mother, while the offspring is in its hiding phase
(Lickliter Heron). The doe will seek out the area in which her offspring hides and let out low pitch
contact calls, to which the kid(s) will often respond with high pitched bleats and come out of hiding to
nurse. After the initial two to four day delay, kids develop a bleat contour, a modulation of a small
range of frequencies, which individualizes the kids calls (Lenhardt). Using this individualizing cue,
does are able to locate their offspring more accurately, in hiding or, later, in a herd. The ability to
imprint vocalizations, first in one direction and then in both directions (mother to kid and vice versa),
allows for the species to effectively utilize hiding behavior. From an ultimate standpoint, this increases
likelihood of survival. The neonates will remain relatively safe, concealed from predators, while the
mother has

The Battle Of New Orleans
Battle of New Orleans
Cade Northcutt
1st Period
November 20th, 2014
American independence from Great Britain was at first all just a dream from new American colonists.
After years of war and key battles with British forces during the Revolutionary War, this dream
became a reality. However, some issues promised to be fixed after the Revolutionary War were not
corrected. Great Britain had agreements and treaties that were left unfulfilled in the eyes of
Americans. One major battle served as a resolution to all American problems with Great Britain, and
served as an ending statement in the triumphant War of 1812, the Battle of New Orleans. This battle
served as a breaking point for the newly founded American country as well as a ... Show more content

But without the Battle of New Orleans and great leadership from Andrew Jackson, British troops
could possibly have done more damage to America s hopes of freedom. The Battle of New Orleans
during 1815 served as a key victory in the War of 1812 and helped shape the future pathway of a new,
independent nation, the United States of America.
Many battles during the War of 1812 had led to the success of America s second war of independence.
British impressment was a major cause of starting the War of 1812. British naval ships were capturing
American troops on ships and forcing them to join British forces unwillingly. This did not go lightly
with American forces. America soon took on Britain s powerful navy and army during a period of two
and a half years of battle, leading up to the Battle of New Orleans. Staring off, the first successful
American battle during 1814 was the Battle of Chippewa. This battle occurred on the borders of
Canada, with plans of American forces to seize British forts, located in areas all over Canada.
Surprisingly, the American forces outnumbered the British in this attack, ratio being an army of
around 4,000 versus the British 2,500 men. The two forces collided at Chippewa, a Canadian plain on
July 5th, 1814. Being the first battle of face to face combat during the War of 1812, American forces
walked away with the victory. This showed a preview of the tenacious, under rated army of the United
States that would be

Industrial Hygiene in the Welding Workshop
Industrial Hygiene in the welding workshop Having undergone inspection by OSHA, there are various
issues concerning safety that were noticed and apparently need to be looked into within the workshop.
Being that it is an operation that is being conducted in an industrial area, and in workshop that deals
with welding and joinery, it is critical that all the safety measures are taken into account in a
categorical and safe manner in the bid to eliminate risks from the employees. For instance there are
various experts who are present and I will ensure that their individual expertise is put to use in the
restructuring process. First, the entire employees body must be informed of the extent of the damage
and/or the risks identified by the OSHA, the seriousness of the problem at hand and instructed not to
venture into any area within the workshop condemned by OSHA without the clearance and subsequent
communication through a central communications office that they have to be informed of. I would
also have a formal written process for the restructuring process within the workshop. This will help in
the accurate and safe restructuring in line with safety standards without exposure to danger of the
people involved in the daily work or the restructuring process. This schedule will help ensure that
there is coordination between the specialists that are to be consulted for the restructuring and avoid
skipping of steps as recommended by OSHA that may endanger lives later on.

The Misuse Of Technology In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
We rely on technology nowadays to do simple tasks for us like dry our hair, research answers on the
web, and watch television for entertainment and for the news. Technology is being over used for very
simple things, what if we relied on them too much as a whole for us to forget doing simple task?
Would it be helpful to us that we rely on technology to do everything for us? In the story The Veldt ,
the author Ray Bradbury communicates that the misuse of technology can lead to unforeseen
disadvantages, he demonstrates the theme through his uses of imagery and symbolism.
The author Ray Bradbury uses imagery of the setting, which is the house, to develop the misuse of
technology. The story begins with the Hadley s being delusional about their children, thinking there is
something mentally wrong with them because of what the children has portrayed in the nursery. The
nursery in the story is described as an African Veldt, ...presently an African veldt appeared, in three
dimensions, on all sides, in color reproduced to the final pebble and bit of straw. This quote implies
how the nursery can be realistic due to the children thoughts. By doing this, Bradbury made the
parents scream at the end of the story as the lions started to edge slowly forward towards them. That
sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw. And the lions. And the smell of blood. This
sentence suggests how the African Veldt looks like a menacing place to be because of the lions that are

America s Traditions And Customs
Imagine traveling to a foreign country, where the culture and cuisine is very different from your own.
How would you begin to explore the nation s traditions and customs? Maybe you would start by
visiting the most famous restaurants, museums, and buildings. By studying these places and things,
you would begin to understand more about the history and what it was like living there during that
time period. Not many people think about how our country s cuisine began. The different mealtimes
and food trends, through the years, helped shape our nation to what it is today. Other countries
influenced and help create our ideas for our cuisine. During the Industrial Revolution, American
mealtime and different food trends were positively affected. One of the first and most famous groups
that influenced our cuisine is the Native American Indians. The earliest settlers in Jamestown, Virginia
and Plymouth, Massachusetts relied on the American Indians with their way of preparing and cooking
food. The three main crops that the American Indians used were corn, beans, and squash. The Native
American Indians generously shared and taught their way of life and how they made their food to the
settlers. Throughout the forming of the colonies there were many different cultures and eating habits.
There were hunters, farmers, and both. Things started to change once the 13 colonies were beginning
to be formed. When all 13 colonies were established the food was abundant, but it also was varied. It

Why Is Okonkwo So Cruel
Okonkwo was well known throughout his village and beyond for his fame which rested on personal
achievements. He was a tempered man and couldn t get his words out quick enough, and so, he would
use his fists. His wives, especially the youngest, lived in fear of his fiery temper, and sometimes he
would beat them. Why was Okonkwo so violent and cruel? This was because of his lazy, craven
father, who wasted his life away, and died a failure. Okonkwo however, was clearly cut out for great
things. He had fame for being the greatest wrestler in the nine villages, was a wealthy farmer, and had

Two days went by and nothing else had happened. Okonkwo and some men went to the commissioner

Unit 28. (M1)
Introduction:
In this task I will explain the main roles of web architecture with relation to communication and the

Web 2.0:
The second generation of the World Wide Web is Web 2.0. The second generation of the web is

Facebook is another application which uses functions of Web 2.0 for communication. Facebook itself
focuses on the effect of Collaboration between users. The application of Facebook has made it
subsequently effective and simple for people within different countries and cities to share personal
information about themselves and their hobbies and it also allows them to keep in contact with people
they have added. Facebook enables people to add their friends easily effectively and allows users to
decide which information they want to share with specific users.

Arthur Dimmesdale Symbolism
The character of the reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, despite the apparent single line interpretation of his
character is a difficult phenomenon. Based on the topic of our analysis, first of all we have to find out
if this image bears a symbolic meaning.
In the case of Dimmesdale we don t speak about any sweeping generalizations that go beyond the
narrative. This character remains in the circle of the known, to him puritanical notions of sin and
punishment and the possibility of rebellion could never reach his mind.( Because Arthur perceives the
world entirely through moral categories, he must see himself in just the same way as the crowd
perceived Hester in the first scaffold scene: he is a sinner, nothing more ) The nature of this character
is definitely not versatile for Hawthorne highlights in him only those qualities that are very close to
each other: cowardice, timidity, lack of fortitude and listlessness. This suggests that Dimmesdale is
nothing more than an allegory or even a schematic personification of an abstract concept. His tragedy

Aspartic Acid Synthesis Essay
Aspartame is a widely used artificial sweetener that is approximately 180 200 times sweeter than
sucrose, natural sugar. Because of this, it is typically used in foods and beverages branded as diet
(Humphries, Pretorius, and Naudé, 2008). As time passes, more and more studies are being conducted
on the harmful effects of this food additive on astrocytes and neurons. When ingested, aspartame is
metabolized into phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%), and methanol (10%), which each affect
neuronal cells differently (Ashok, Sheeladevi, and Wankhar, 2014). According to Rycerz and Elżbieta

Aspartic acid is a precursor to the commonly used amino acid and neurotransmitter, glutamate.
Glutamate is typically present in the body for neurons to use, but the excess glutamate presented from
the breakdown of aspartic acid causes over excitation of amino acid receptors, EAAT 1 (GLAST),
EAAT 2 (GLT 1) and EAAT 3 (Rycerz and Elżbieta Jaworska Adamu, 2013). Excitation of these
receptors induces fast, constant action potentials and release of neurotransmitters at the axon terminal;
this requires both the depletion of the cell s ATP storage and the uptake of Ca2+ ions (which leads to
the release of the neurotransmitters). However, an influx of calcium ions in a cell can lead to
mitochondrial calcium overload the subsequent permeabiltiy of the mitochondrial membrane.
Eventually, the cell membrane will permeate as well and reactive oxygen species (ROS) will be
released, causing oxidative stress and further damage to surrouding neurons (Ghandi and Ambrov,
2011). This phenomenon is known as exocytoxicity and is directly responsible for the death of
dopaminergic neurons, which leads to decreased dopamine levels, decreased communication from the
substantia nigra, and, likely, Parkinson s Disease. The last metabolite, methanol, may cause harm to
neurons as well by inducing metabolic acidosis from the conversion to formic acid, though it likely

Evaluate the importance of Sun Yixian s (Sun Yat sen s) role in bringing about the 1911 Revolution in

Sun Yat sen s role in the 1911 revolution against the Qing dynasty was an indirect one. Sun Yat sen
was exiled in the United States during the events of the Wuchang Uprising of October 10th, 1911,
hearing about it through a newspaper publication in Denver, Colorado.[1] Many Historians view Sun s
accession as the provisional President of the Republic of China, directly following the revolution, as
due to his position as a compromise candidate (Bergere, Marie Clare, Sun Yat sen, 1994, p. 12). This
interpretation holds Sun Yat sen as a respected but unimportant figure in the revolution, serving as an

In his nationalization theory, people would be deprived of the right to own land, but they could still
retain other rights over the land by permission of the state. Sun Yat sen s revolutionary ideas
extensively influenced formation of the New Army, responsible for the revolution of 1911. Through
his early revolutionary actions and a failed military coup in 1895, Sun Yat sen was exiled for sixteen
years, campaigning and raising monetary aid in Europe, the United States and in Japan. In Japan, Sun
Yat sen joined dissident Chinese groups, a pre cursor to the Tongmenghui, becoming their leader and
gaining a large amount of financial support from Japanese democratic revolutionary, Miyazaki Toten.
[6] Sun Yat Sen smuggled this financial aid into China through his supporters, directly financing
weapons and ammunitions, much of which was utilised in the revolution by the New Army.
Sun Yat sen s ideology remained flexible; this had a homogenising effect on the revolutionary factions
involved in the Wuchang rebellion and more widely, the Xinhai Revolution. Sun Yat sen s political
ideologies reflected their intended audience as much as his personal convictions. He presented himself

Greek Philosopher Xenophanes
Xenophanes was a Greek philosopher before the Socratic era whose conception of God was different
from other philosophers of his time. Before the evolution of God as a non human entity the ancient
Greeks believed that Gods and Goddesses were similar to that of humans and the only distinction was
that Gods were immortal and humans were mortal. He challenged openly the concept of divinity
proposed by Homer and put forward his ideas of God through his poetic approach. He noticed the
corrupt behavior of humans and realized that if human are going to worship any being it must be
worthy of such an honor. He argued that ancient Greek Gods of Olympia had experienced downfall
similar to humans and thus are not worthy of being worshipped.
Xenophanes declared the idea of unity of God. This notion was very unusual for Greek culture and
society. He suggested that different poets and writers have induced the idea of multiple Gods in the
minds of Greeks. But the character of these Gods was against the very idea of a divine entity.
Xenophanes attacked the Greek mythology of his time by defining the unexplained deepness of nature
of divinity. He declined to accept the idea that Gods were just like human, they were born, required
cloths and are dependant on their body.
Discussion
There were two angles from which Xenophanes viewed God. One is that Homeric Gods showed
behaviors that were quite similar to the behaviors of humans. As per the definition, God had to be

Articles Of Confederation Analysis
The Articles of Constipation proved inadequate because simply put, it wasn t an effective form of
government. The Articles were formed on March 1, 1781, but only lasted to 1789. This new form of
government created only one branch of government, the legislative branch (Congress). Under the
Articles, Congress held the power to conduct foreign affairs, make treaties, declare war, maintain an
army and a navy, coin money, and establish post offices. However, decisions made by Congress
needed to be approved by at least 9 of the thirteen states. Also, Congress did not have the power to

themselves setting off brutal civil wars in which the people were divided into social classes: poor and
rich. Thus in this case the poor neglected the common good of the people to pursue their own
interests. Historically along with Greece, many other constitutional governments have neglected to
obey the constitutional limits that restricted them, trying to illegal increase their power and crushing
the rights of the people. King John and the Magna Carta is an example of this, where after he agreed
to it, he continued to neglect the rights of the people, not always guaranteeing them the freedoms
vested in the Magna Carta.
Plato concluded that: Until philosophers are kings, or the kings and princes of this world have the

Chin A Country Of Tremendous Importance Essay
History of China is a long and complex. China is a country of tremendous importance. From the
origins of the Chinese Empire, all the way to the present day, China has been one of the most
innovative, influential, and powerful countries in the world. China in particular has an incredibly rich
and unique historical heritage and history. Like many other ancient societies Chinese society began
along a river, was based on agriculture, and developed trade networks and large cities.
China s geography is quite interesting, the textbook refers to it as a study in contrast. The west and
southwest are mountainous and bleak. The north is arid and barren, dominated by the Gobi abd
Mongolian Plateau. Despite these harsh and uninviting regions. This did not prevent connections with
other cultures. Eastern China is defined by two major rivers. In the South is the Yangzi river, because
of the positive traits of the Yangzi river the terrain is lush, ideal for farming. In the North however, is
the yellow river, the brownish yellow silt is responsible for both its name and color. The yellow river
is shallow and flows through flat plains, with frequent floods, naturally harsh and cold. However, the
brownish yellow soil deposited on surrounding lands by periodic floods, the rich silt restores the soils
fertility. Farming came early to this area, as early as 7000 B.C.E, a necessity to sustain the growing
population, in addition because the yellow rivers unpredicately, it forced those who lived

The Great Depression Through The Artist s Eyes
In 1929, the Western industrialized countries succumbed to a bleak period of time known as the Great
Depression. This economic collapse, which persisted for ten long years, was preempted by the stock
market crash on Wall Street, buying on credit, supply and demand along with the Dust Bowl of the
Great Plains. During this economic state of crisis, the unemployment rate had risen from 3% to 25%,
almost 13 million Americans were jobless. Many people could not pay their rent or mortgages. People
were evicted into the world of public assistance and forced to wait in long breadlines for free food.
Suicide reached an all time high. No nation could emerge from the cauldron of national crisis without
profound social and cultural change (Independence Hall Association). Artwork is an expression of a
feeling or idea that an artist portrays. It s an avenue of communicating a moment in time. This paper
will analyze four pieces of artwork representing the Great Depression through the artist s eyes. Artistic
styles will be explored along with discussion of trade and exchange as depicted from the artwork.
Regionalism is an American realist modern art movement popular during the 1930s. Artists during this
art movement shunned the city and the rapidly developing technological advances, dubbed the Age of
Progress, to focus on rural life instead (Artinthepicture). The Regionalists view was to paint what was
around them, what they know and what they see. During the Great Depression

Ah been married to you fur fifteen years, and Ah been takin in washin for fifteen years. Sweat, sweat, sweat! Work and sweat, cry and sweat, pray and sweat! Does living with abuse help you gain the strength to become a stronger woman? Also, when does enough become enough? Such a quote is found in Zora Neale Hurston s short story, Sweat . This quote expresses the discussion theme better than any story that has ever been told before about abuse that is endured during a relationship. This quote helped me realize many different things that women tend to go through in a relationship. A lot of times women take abuse, whether it is physical, mental or emotional abuse. Society also tends to put women in a category that is beneath a man, which may give a man the thought of him having power over women, but in actual reality this is called abuse. The definition of abuse is the improper use of something, and that is exactly what is happening to Delia in Sweat . Zora Neale Hurston was considered one of the pre eminent writers of twentieth century African American literature. Hurston was closely associated with the Harlem Renaissance. She has also influenced writers such as Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, Gayle Jones, Alice Walker, and Toni Cade Bambara. Looking at her work, it can be found to be read as a work of feminist fiction, but it is not why you would think it would be. The quote also possess that the character is faced with ... Psalm 121 seems to speak of the tough times in our lives and how we can still find peace. God does not live in some celestial tower, far away from the world God created. God cares for all the people and all of creation. God cares for us amidst all the twists and turns of life s journey. It is that conviction which inspires Psalm 121, a Psalm I read again to Cindy in the last week of her life. Psalm 121 is sometimes called „the traveler‟s Psalm‟. It was a psalm sung by pilgrims as they made their annual journey to Jerusalem. It expressed their faith in God, but also reflected the unease they felt about travel. I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? (v.1). Mountains may be beautiful, but they can also be dangerous. Mountains are places where people lose their lives. No, the hills are not the place from which our help comes rather they are the place where help is needed. Here in this Psalm, the hills or mountains represented the perils of the journey, for it was in the ravines and gorges of the mountain ranges that wild beasts and robbers hid. As the pilgrims looked to the mountain ranges they had to cross if they were to reach Jerusalem, they were filled with foreboding and wondered from where their help would come. Islam is also one of the youngest major religions as the Qur an came down to Muhammad six centuries after Jesus, so that a large portion of the developed world which it soon overran had been evangelized for centuries (Burrell 1). The rapid expansion of the community of Believers after Muhammad s death has its roots in the events of the last years of his life ( Donner 92). Islam can be abridged into three timeframes that are as follows; The Time of Ingratitude, Muhammad s life and story, and the organizations and laws that were created after the demise of the prophet. The holiest declaration or Shahada in Islam is There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger (Fieser 373). This concert also featured the Hersh Trio, comprised of Alexander Hersh on the cello, Stefan Hersh on the violin, and Paul Hersh on the piano, which the orchestra accompanied for one piece. The first piece played by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra was The Birds composed by Ottorino Respighi. Ottorino Respighi is best known for his orchestral tone poems, such as Fountains of Rome. He based his work, The Birds, off of 16th, 17th, and 18th century style music because he had an interest in music from these eras as a musicologist. There are five movements; Preludio, La Colomba, La Gallina, L Usignolo, and Il Cuccu. They are meant to resemble types of birds. For example, La Colomba means dove, La Gallina means hen. The first movement, Preludio, was light and airy. This was a good piece to start with because of its playful melody. There was a large ritardando into a new melody that clearly resembled sounds of a bird. The second theme sounded fluttery because of the trills. Anzac Legend Essay The Anzac legend is still relevant in today s society as it reminds Australians and New Zealands of the sacrifice they made to protect our country and let us live in freedom. The legend defines our national identity and helps shape our national reputation so that other countries can look at us as and think of us as a country who are determined, brave, resilient and helps our mates when they are in trouble. Almost a whole generation of young men was lost and they deserved to be remembered. The soldiers continued to fight during challenging times and when they felt as though it was too hard and should give up. They slept in wet and dirty clothes and barely had enough food to survive. An effective leader will possess the desired characteristics and will be able to assess a variety of tasks. According to Dereli (2003), there are a number of definitions of leadership, and the literature suggests that there is a distinction between a leader and a manager. Winston and Patterson (2006) state that leadership is defined as one or more individuals, who are able to select a variety of strategies, and influence followers to work towards a common goal or objective. Darr s (2011) research distinguishes managers and leaders based on the idea that managers take on the caretaker role, whereby maintaining the status quo. This can be identified as a transactional leadership role (Darr, 2011). As early as fifteen hours after birth, kids will leave their mothers to sequester themselves to a hiding spot, while the mother eats, rests, and ruminates. During this hiding phase, it will spend very little time with her within the first week of life, except to nurse (Lickliter Heron). During at least the first two days of life for the neonate, vocal recognition tends to be unidirectional. That is, a kid may recognize its mother s call, but a doe may not recognize her kid s call. Mother kid interactions have been found to be primarily instigated by the mother, while the offspring is in its hiding phase (Lickliter Heron). The doe will seek out the area in which her offspring hides and let out low pitch contact calls, to which the kid(s) will often respond with high pitched bleats and come out of hiding to nurse. After the initial two to four day delay, kids develop a bleat contour, a modulation of a small range of frequencies, which individualizes the kids calls (Lenhardt). Using this individualizing cue, does are able to locate their offspring more accurately, in hiding or, later, in a herd. The ability to imprint vocalizations, first in one direction and then in both directions (mother to kid and vice versa), allows for the species to effectively utilize hiding behavior. How would you begin to explore the nation s traditions and customs? Maybe you would start by visiting the most famous restaurants, museums, and buildings. By studying these places and things, you would begin to understand more about the history and what it was like living there during that time period. Other countries influenced and help create our ideas for our cuisine. During the Industrial Revolution, American mealtime and different food trends were positively affected. One of the first and most famous groups that influenced our cuisine is the Native American Indians. The earliest settlers in Jamestown, Virginia and Plymouth, Massachusetts relied on the American Indians with their way of preparing and cooking food. The three main crops that the American Indians used were corn, beans, and squash. The Native American Indians generously shared and taught their way of life and how they made their food to the settlers. Throughout the forming of the colonies there were many different cultures and eating habits. There were hunters, farmers, and both. • 36. Arthur Dimmesdale Symbolism The character of the reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, despite the apparent single line interpretation of his character is a difficult phenomenon. Based on the topic of our analysis, first of all we have to find out if this image bears a symbolic meaning. In the case of Dimmesdale we don t speak about any sweeping generalizations that go beyond the narrative. This character remains in the circle of the known, to him puritanical notions of sin and punishment and the possibility of rebellion could never reach his mind.( Because Arthur perceives the world entirely through moral categories, he must see himself in just the same way as the crowd perceived Hester in the first scaffold scene: he is a sinner, nothing more ) The nature of this character is definitely not versatile for Hawthorne highlights in him only those qualities that are very close to each other: cowardice, timidity, lack of fortitude and listlessness. This suggests that Dimmesdale is nothing more than an allegory or even a schematic personification of an abstract concept. • 38. Aspartic Acid Synthesis Essay Aspartame is a widely used artificial sweetener that is approximately 180 200 times sweeter than sucrose, natural sugar. Because of this, it is typically used in foods and beverages branded as diet (Humphries, Pretorius, and Naudé, 2008). As time passes, more and more studies are being conducted on the harmful effects of this food additive on astrocytes and neurons. When ingested, aspartame is metabolized into phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%), and methanol (10%), which each affect neuronal cells differently (Ashok, Sheeladevi, and Wankhar, 2014). According to Rycerz and Elżbieta Jaworska Adamu (2013), the excess phenylalanine blocks the transport of amino acids, glutamine, histidine, methionine, serine, threonine, tyrosine and tryptophan, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aspartic acid is a precursor to the commonly used amino acid and neurotransmitter, glutamate. Glutamate is typically present in the body for neurons to use, but the excess glutamate presented from the breakdown of aspartic acid causes over excitation of amino acid receptors, EAAT 1 (GLAST), EAAT 2 (GLT 1) and EAAT 3 (Rycerz and Elżbieta Jaworska Adamu, 2013). Excitation of these receptors induces fast, constant action potentials and release of neurotransmitters at the axon terminal; this requires both the depletion of the cell s ATP storage and the uptake of Ca2+ ions (which leads to the release of the neurotransmitters). However, an influx of calcium ions in a cell can lead to mitochondrial calcium overload the subsequent permeabiltiy of the mitochondrial membrane. Eventually, the cell membrane will permeate as well and reactive oxygen species (ROS) will be released, causing oxidative stress and further damage to surrouding neurons (Ghandi and Ambrov, 2011). This phenomenon is known as exocytoxicity and is directly responsible for the death of dopaminergic neurons, which leads to decreased dopamine levels, decreased communication from the substantia nigra, and, likely, Parkinson s Disease. The last metabolite, methanol, may cause harm to neurons as well by inducing metabolic acidosis from the conversion to formic acid, though it likely does not have a major ... • 40. Greek Philosopher Xenophanes Xenophanes was a Greek philosopher before the Socratic era whose conception of God was different from other philosophers of his time. Before the evolution of God as a non human entity the ancient Greeks believed that Gods and Goddesses were similar to that of humans and the only distinction was that Gods were immortal and humans were mortal. He challenged openly the concept of divinity proposed by Homer and put forward his ideas of God through his poetic approach. He noticed the corrupt behavior of humans and realized that if human are going to worship any being it must be worthy of such an honor. He argued that ancient Greek Gods of Olympia had experienced downfall similar to humans and thus are not worthy of being worshipped. Xenophanes declared the idea of unity of God. This notion was very unusual for Greek culture and society. He suggested that different poets and writers have induced the idea of multiple Gods in the minds of Greeks. But the character of these Gods was against the very idea of a divine entity. Xenophanes attacked the Greek mythology of his time by defining the unexplained deepness of nature of divinity. He declined to accept the idea that Gods were just like human, they were born, required cloths and are dependant on their body. Discussion There were two angles from which Xenophanes viewed God. One is that Homeric Gods showed behaviors that were quite similar to the behaviors of humans. As per the definition, God had to be someone much greater than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
