background features India has to offer. Chandrapore, where the book takes place, is not the
most alluring place to visit while in India. In essence, the whole city is just a forest with few
houses. Aziz, who is the lead character in the novel, is a doctor who lives in the city and goes to

protest formation. They carry with them signs that say Justice for La Raza, Ando sangrando igual

groups are often left out of the Civil Rights Movement taught in a classroom. San Antonio was the
birthplace of the Chicano movement. Here, various organizations were formed to encourage the
government to increase Mexican Americans opportunities in the educational field as well as in the
work field. The Brown Power movement campaigned for Mexican Americans to reject assimilation
into the American mainstream society, and celebrate their Chicano history. La Causa, or The Cause
of this movement, began as farm worker strikes in California and Southwest region. (Montejano,
10) Farmworkers demanded fair wages and suitable working conditions, but they also faced
inequality outside of the workplace. Inspired by Cesar Chavez, young Chicanos in San Antonio
began to form organizations that would challenge the injustice and inequality treatment they faced
as citizens of the United States. The Civil Rights Movement of African Americans also impacted
and influenced the young generation of the Chicano Movement. They shared one common enemy:
the white elite. Their basic rights as a citizen were being withheld and they organized to fight to

Niccolo di Pietro Gerini s Scourging of the Four Crowned Martyrs (1385 90) depicts a scene in
which four martyrs are pursued by a group of men with some scourging tool (which resembles a
modern day rake). A late Gothic painting in which Gerini depicts a Catholic story of the Four
Crowned Martyrs, the Scourging incorporates much of the static, stiff forms which are
characteristic of the period s prevailing style. In the painting, one can notice clear divisions of
space, distinct separations of forms within that space, and emphases on the men doing the

to tell its story, but the melody is quite simple in Oya (Primitive Fire) . The melody is played by
many different percussion instruments, and begins in the second section of the song. At first listen,
the song sounds more like different layers of rhythmic patterns, but the combination of these

On November 10, 2016 I attended Elf the Broadway Musical written by David Berrenbaum and
directed by Sam Scalamoni. Elf the Broadway Musical was produced by Texas A M University
and MSC OPAS. It was a comedic musical that appealed to a wide variety of audience members.
