Lord Byron And William Shakespeare
Since the beginning of time, human beings have found a variety of ways to illustrate their affections
for one another. An intriguing form to present an individual s ideal thoughts across is the form of
poetry, for it displays a deep and mysterious meaning behind the connotation of the words used.
Poetry allows writers to express themselves through the act of writing with the usage of a few words.
However, it is sometimes difficult for a reader to comprehend what the poem is trying to imply, but
that is the beauty behind poetry which as a reader, one might have a different interpretations from
another. In an analysis of She walks in beauty by Lord Byron and Sonnet 130 by William
Shakespeare, they both have a unique distinction on how the words are used to project affections to
their respective lover. The linguistic style of the poets diverges in their depiction the physical
appearance, emotive feelings, and understanding what the lover means to them. Lord Byron and
William Shakespeare did an incredible job analyzing their counterpart s physical appearance that was
just mind blowing to a reader. Throughout the poem She walks in beauty by Lord Byron, he uses
imagery that allowed him to compare his lover with nature. She walks in beauty, like the night Of
cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her
eyes; Thus mellowed to the tender light Which heaven gaudy day denies (Lines 1 6).
This stanza states that his

How Welfare Has Changed From The Colonial Period
It is important to discuss the history of the emergence of this social problem. I will discuss the essence
of poverty as a social problem and how that has affected how welfare is distributed among single
mothers. Some factors that contributed to this social problem are the economy and he increasing
amount of people who lived in poverty. The government felt that it was necessary to be proactive
about the growing issue of poverty. The government was also taking a look at how money was being
spent and how that contributed to the nation s debt. As a result some policies were put into place to
address those issues. Many programs were on a trial and error period to determine the success rate of
that program. If the social program had expenses that seemed to add to the deficit then those programs
were either revamped or eliminated. It is important to examine how Welfare has changed from the
Colonial period to present.
A social problem is an undesirable condition that affects individuals or groups of people. Single
mothers is the population that I will be discussing in this paper. Welfare reform and its impact on
single mothers well being is the social problem that I ve chosen to analyze. Single mothers that are
welfare recipients often go through different experiences that affect their well being. However, the
Welfare reform changes have been a factor that has contributed to their well being positively and
negatively. The goal of the reform is to cut down on social spending

Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Australia and Climate Change
Market based policies are a proven way to limit carbon pollution and channel capital and innovation
into clean energy, helping to avert the catastrophic consequences of climate change
EDF vice president for international climate, Nathaniel Keohan
Introduction
In a contemporary political setting, it is now broadly recognized that over the 20th century, the
atmospheric concentrations of key greenhouse gases, particularly Carbon Dioxide have been amplified
by human activity. Australia can be held accountable for around 1.5% of global greenhouse gas
emissions. However, Australia is one of the largest carbon polluters per capita, sitting around 24.4
tonnes per person.
Much policy discussion about climate change suggests that surplus carbon emissions are the result of
failure of the market. Since the ongoing costs of environmental degradation and climate change are
not internalized in pricing fossil fuel; a commonsense (and widely flavored by policy makers in the
international community) economic solution is to internalize the cost of carbon emissions. Cap and
trade emissions trading schemes have proven largely popular in the global policy making community,
as they enable market flexibility and allow for international targets to be met.
The problem with incentive based economic mechanisms is that it is optional by nature. Relevant
parties opt in to the free market mechanism, rather than being required to participate in a policy based
mechanism. The latter however,

Racial Segregation During The 1960 s Civil Rights...
A primary technique used to overcome racial segregation during the 1960 s Civil Rights Movement in
the United States was direct action. One of the most influential leaders of the Civil Rights Movement
was Martin Luther King Junior who is known for his use of nonviolent direct action, which often
entailed the violation of laws as an act of civil disobedience. On April 16, 1963, King composed his
Letter from Birmingham Jail, where he accepted the consequences for his disobedience against the
Birmingham law which forbids one to parade without a permit. In the letter, King explains the intent
of nonviolent direct action, and that although his actions broke the law, this particular act of civil
disobedience may be morally justified because the law itself was unjust. In fact, King held a high
respect for the supreme law of the United States the Constitution as it grants equal protection of all
under the law. It was the specific laws throughout the nation which promoted racial segregation that
King found to be unjust and required direct action to be overturned. With reference to his Letter from
Birmingham Jail, I will explain King s concept of the nature and purpose of nonviolent direct action
and its relation to civil disobedience, as well as why in order for nonviolent direct action to fulfill its
purpose, humans must have the capacity to embrace their natural senses of justice and sympathy in
order to suppress their self interests in favor of justice.

Analysis Of The TED Talk Txtng Is Killing Language
The first text message was sent 25 years ago, on December 3, 2017, another leap forward in
communications technology. Texting, like the fax, email, or instant messages allowed people to
communicate nearly instantaneously through writing. As texting and other forms of instant messaging
have developed, so have new ways to abbreviate words used throughout instant communication. These
abbreviations feature phrases like, LOL which is laughing out loud, THNX which is thanks, and BRB
which is be right back. The essay, Texting by David Crystal defines several texting abbreviations, and
describes why someone might uses texting abbreviations, or textspeak as he calls it, as well as the
issues that can arise from using textspeak (241 246). Another essay, r u online? : The Evolving
Lexicon of Wired Teens, details how teens today are using instant messaging as their main form of
communication, and expresses concern for the consequences of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere
at an instantaneous rate (247 249). Finally, the TED Talk Txtng is Killing Language. JK!!! by John
McWhorter, emphasizes that many of the fears concerning the effects of texting on language are
unfounded (00:00:00 00:13:48). Due to the new abbreviations, and the lack of emphasis on full
sentences or proper grammar, many people have concerns that texting and instant messaging are
having an adverse effect on the English language. However, their fears are unfounded; texting has

Comparing Jocasta In The Odyssey And Oedipus
Most seems to enjoy tight casting female characters through two tropes: either the damsel in distress
waiting for her knight in shining armor to save her, or a tough, power indulged witch who s only
concern is herself. Very few times (and by even fewer male authors) will a female character be written
as a medium between the two extremes. This problem has been occurring for centuries almost, even
being found in literature dating back to B.C., with Penelope from Homer s The Odyssey and Jocasta
from Sophocles Oedipus Rex : Penelope being written as the damsel with hundreds of suitors vying
for her attention, all while desperately weaving and waiting day in and day out for her true love to
come home; Jocasta as this harsh women who only wants to be around when everything is working to
her advantage. Then there s Antigone, who stands up for her morals against Thebes without so much
as batting an eye. The Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, ruler of Ithaca who has been lost out at sea
for the past 20 years after the Trojan war. At home waiting is his son Telemachus and his wife
Penelope. Unsurprisingly Telemachus with the help of Athene ... Show more content on

At first glance, it was exciting to see a woman dominate that severely in a man s world; but much like
Lady Macbeth, all Jocasta had were her tough edges and a hunger for whatever power her family
could get. When Oedipus presented her with the soothsayer s report about how he killed his father and
will inevitably bed his mother keep in mind, Jocasta knew this was all true she put so much effort into
making Oedipus believe that this wasn t true and that it was impossible (Sophocles 38). Later on when
Oedipus found out Jocasta was his own mother, Jocasta later killed herself before she had to face
responsibility for her actions to more than just Oedipus and his men. (Sophocles

Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2 Analysis
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is an enduring revenge tragedy which reflects the philosophical values
and concepts of the Renaissance era. The humanistic and existentialistic natures of man, as well as the
process of scepticism have a significant impact on the ways one reacts to external factors. Shakespeare
explores how one reacts to their context, encapsulating these philosophies throughout the play.
Caught on the bridge between the Middle Ages and the enlightenment period, the Renaissance era
opened up a wide array of philosophical values concerning the humanistic and existentialistic natures
of man. At this point in history, man surpassed God at centre stage, with the newfound ability to
reason and self determine. Linked to this is the existentialistic ... Show more content on

It is this philosophical scepticism which corrupts the mind of Hamlet, as he embarks on a journey to
foil his uncle s betrayal through his antic disposition . This feigned madness is one of the central
elements of the play, bringing about one of the most discussed questions; whether Hamlet was actually
mad or not. His disposition is also linked to the recurring motif of surveillance, blurring the lines
between appearance and reality. Hamlet s soliloquy in Act 2 Scene 2 acts as a catalyst for change,
springing Hamlet into action as he formulates a surveillance scheme to discover the truth of King
Claudius treachery. Through this, one can assert that while Hamlet captures the essence of madness,
his deep thinking and speculation indicates that he is essentially only mad in craft . It is because of his
scepticism that Hamlet meticulously utilises the metafictional play within a play to observe
his[Claudius ] looks , and hence know my[his] course and kill Claudius. The fact that acting itself is
putting on false appearances symbolises and further highlights the distortion of truth within this
revenge tragedy full of dishonesty. Hamlet s introspective character is able to engage with the
audience through his many soliloquies in which he reveals his suspicions and unadulterated thoughts.
The structure of the play reflects

Criticism Of John Dryden
On the author s life and work
John Dryden was born in 1631 in a middle class family who supposedly supported the Puritan cause
and Parliament. According to the Norton Anthology of Theory and Criticism (2001), he started his
education in Westminster School and continued in Trinity College, Cambridge where he graduated in
1654, (2001). Dryden is known for his poetry, drama, criticism and translations, such as Virgil s
Aeneid, and translations of Homer (The Princeton Encyclopaedia of Poetry and Poetics, 2012).
Dryden s philosophical poetry shows his awareness of fideism, modern science, skepticism, and deism
(Wellek, R Warren, A., 1942). Relying on the Norton Anthology of English Literature (2006), Dryden

Dryden himself turned his intention to blank verse, supporting rhyme through the character of
Neander. Crites, on the other hand, criticises rhyme in serious play, it is unnatural since no one speaks
in rhyme. Blank rhyme is also peculiar as nobody speaks in verse. Dryden writes in his Essay: Tis best
to write Tragedy in that kind of Verse which is the least such, or which is nearest Prose: and this
amongst the Ancients was the Iambique, and with us is blank verse (Richter, H. D. 2006).
Words should be placed in a natural order. The Elizabethans mastered the use of blank verse and the
Moderns cannot outshine them. Rhyme adds joy to poetry and since the basic function of poetry is to
delight, rhyme supports to perform this function justly (I. A.Richards., 2001).

Whitman dealt with mortality in the poem when he described walking with the knowledge of death on

We Real Cool
We Real Cool
English 125
We Real Cool In this paper the topic that will be written about is the poem entitled We Real Cool .
This poem was written in 1960 by a woman named Gwendolyn Brooks. In this paper three topics have
been selected so that this poem will be able to be analyzed. With each element, it will de discussed
how those elements affected and interested me while reading. The three elements that have been
written about are form, language, and content. Form, in poetry, can be understood as the physical
structure of the poem: the length of the lines, their rhythms, their system of rhymes and repetition (The
Poetry Archive, 2005 2010). Form is the technical word for the look and sound of language
(Kwikguide, 2009). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a lot of confusion about what the writer was trying to get across. Initially, the thought that
the poem was referring to herself was a bit transparent, so immediately the thought was that it was
supposed to be a tragic poem. However, after listening to the author read the poem, and did more
research, there was complete surprise. The poem was written to come off as a happy and a very
positive poem. As it was mentioned previously, the most interesting part about this poem is the We .
Gwendolyn is a very enjoyable sounding writer. She has a very strong pronunciation and the age in
her voice helps with the passionate sound of the reading. In conclusion, form, content, and language
come together in this literary work to offer a striking emotional response from its reader. Without each
of these specific components, the poem simply wouldn t have the same effect. Form is necessary to
provide structure, content its scene and language its sound and feel. Gwendolyn Brooks has included
each ingredient to provide a brief, but strong feeling one way or another, for the young people of this
poem.

Choler Waterborne Diarrheal Disease
Public Health Problem
Cholera is a waterborne diarrheal disease that can be severely detrimental to a person s health if not
treated properly. According to the World Health Organization, cholera is a bacterial disease that
originated in India in the 19th century, with seven pandemics spreading around the globe and killing
millions of people.1 The current pandemic is still around, and cholera in present times is estimated to
affect anywhere from 1.4 to 4.3 million children and adults every year.1 The disease is especially
rampant during the rainy season, when the climate is wet and the bacteria spread easily.2 The bacteria
strain Vibrio cholerae can culture itself in water, thus contaminating it and making the water

It can be as simple as obtaining the proper tools and medications to treat the portion of the community
that has contracted cholera and making sure that they are cared for in a clean, hygienic area. Though
cholera is indeed a dangerous and potentially deadly illness, the treatment for it is rather
straightforward and basic. Patients that are affected simply need to replenish the water and nutrients
that they lose when they are going through symptoms of cholera such as diarrhea and dehydration.7
This can be accomplished through the use of oral rehydration solutions, usually a mixture of salts and
fluids.7 In serious cases where the cholera disease has caused severe dehydration, patients may need
to have their fluids replaced intravenously.1,7 Another relatively simple option for treatment of
cholera is antibiotic therapy involving tetracycline, which can cause the length of the illness to be
reduced and then decrease the need for oral rehydration therapy.8 Essentially, it all comes down to the
government taking affirmative action to go to the source of the problem and keep it from spreading. In
developed and industrialized countries, cholera is nearly non existent and this is because there are high
standard levels for clean water requirements and overall sanitation.4 The World Health Organization
has implemented a Global Task Force on Cholera Control through which it attempts to monitor,
control, and prevent future cases of cholera around the world.1 One of the best examples of successful
elimination of cholera is the United States, where the last major outbreak of cholera occurred in
1911.9 Following the outbreak, the United States government implemented several public health
policies that centered around stricter sanitation and hygiene practices and advancing water purification
techniques in order to

The Ethics Of Plato And Aristotle
In this essay, I will be examining the ethics of Plato and Aristotle. I will explain the five fundamental
concepts of Plato and Aristotle. I will focus on their theories on the good life as a life of justice,
censorship, knowledge and the good life. I will first explain Plato s ethics. Plato was a philosopher,
both a rationalist and absolutist. According to Plato, people must be schooled to obtain certain kinds of
knowledge for example mathematics, philosophy etc. The training will give them the ability to know
the nature of the good life. Not many people have the mental ability to learn what the good life is.
They have to be exactly like a person who has knowledge. The people who have knowledge are to be
the leaders in the society. Finding the nature of the good life is an intellectual task, which is similar to
discovering mathematical truths. They must develop righteous habits of behavior.
Plato believes that control is necessary to stop some of the experiences by young people if they are to
discover the nature of the good life. If a person can discover what is right and knows what the good
life is, he or she will not go against the principles. Plato s virtue of wisdom, courage and temperance
are in operation, a supreme virtue is indication in justice. Wisdom is the feature of the intellect.
Courage is the feature of the will. Temperance is the feature of the appetites. There is one and only one
good life for all to lead since goodness is not dependent on

The Bombing Of Pearl Harbor Essay
The past 120 years have brought many changes, as well as surprises, to the United States of America.
There have been inventions such as the automobile, the airplane, the television and even travel in
space. There have been changes like the World Wars, Prohibition, the Great Depression and the cold
war. Through the years, the American people have encountered joy, peace, and tragedy. One of the
greatest tragedies experienced by Americans occurred on Sunday, December 7, 1941, the bombing of
Pearl Harbor Naval Base. One could consider this incident the first act of terrorism against America.
The day was significant because of its impact on history. The attack and defeat of the United States at
Pearl Harbor forced America into World War II.
Surrounded by land on the southern coast of Oahu, near Honolulu, in the Hawaiian Islands lies the
port of Pearl Harbor. At the time of the attack, Hawaii was not a state. However, the United States
claimed it as a territory. The U.S. Navy established a base at Pearl Harbor to house the Pacific Fleet,
and to train men for war. In the early 1940 s the base became a supply post for Great Britain in the
fight against the Nazi Germany attacks. In 1940, World War II was well under way with Great Britain,
France, the USSR, China, Greece and other Allies against the Axis Powers when the Japanese bombed
Pearl Harbor. Until this point, the United States stance had remained noncommittal about the war.
In July 1940, the U.S. placed an embargo on Japan,

Religion And Its Role Within Societies 600 B.c
Religion and its role in societies 600 B.C.E. 600 C.E.
Codifications and further developments of existing religious traditions provided a bond among the
people and an ethical code to live by.
Religion has been a dominant cultural, ethical, and political force throughout human history, both
recent and ancient. Religion has been science and asylum for many generations of very many people,
uniting them in their common faith. Temples were built for people to pray and perform sacrifice in,
giving the people a common cause to live for and thereby creating personal relations between people
even before you got to know them. The unique features of ancient religions were that they were all
polytheistic, meaning that they recognized many gods, instead of one main one. And the problem with
this was that in the ancient history, before the invention of writing, nothing was written down: stories
were told verbally, laws were passed on verbally, and writing things down was an incredible task for
the ancient people, and gave incredible glory to the people that did it, because if it s written down, it s
much easier to spread your beliefs and it s harder to forget specifics of your religion or law. Writing
down religious and political texts has greatly facilitated the religions diffusion and spread throughout
the globe, and consequently, brought together and apart many more religious people and governments.
What also helped currently popular and dominant religions spread was that most

The Themes Of Physical Beauty In Fairytales
Fairytales, arguably some of the most historical forms of literature, have remained popular throughout
the decades. Tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, The Frog King and The
Swan Maiden, were originally written between the mid eighteenth century and mid nineteenth century.
Whether it is the fanciful love story or the magical transformation which attracts and has kept
attention throughout the decades, fairytales, specifically those in which either the protagonist or
antagonist undergoes a physical change, teach an important lesson to readers. In this day and age, the
media has put so much pressure on particularly young women to look a certain way; what seems to be
missing is the idea that physical beauty does not necessarily parallel inner beauty. The theme of
transformation in many fairytales serves to portray certain truths about ... Show more content on

is still present in Grimm, but in the capacity that modern society has perverted it. Today s culture is
one dominated by the media. People, especially young, impressionable females, are bombarded with
images of beautiful and desirable women; these sexy women are lacking modest clothing, wearing

Keats And Finch And The Nightingale
In literature, it is generally agreed that The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something
beyond the merely human . Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in Ode to a Nightingale and To
the Nightingale by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to
look beyond the physical and in Finch s case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst
asserting poetry as a human necessity.
Keats was a key figure in the Romantic era in the first part of the 17th century which, according to
René Wellek s classic definition, sought to substitute imagination for the view of poetry, nature for the
view of the world, and symbol and myth for poetic style. Therefore, Keats Ode to a Nightingale ,
written in 1819, has an affiliation with the natural world, through both the metaphors he uses and his
meter and rhyme. The fact that the poem is an Ode to a nightingale shows that Keats is addressing the
bird in particular and therefore it asserts the link that is found in Romanticism between humans and
the natural world. M. H. Abrams states that Keats wrote this poem, whilst reminiscent of a Horation
Ode, as what came to be known as a Romantic Meditative Ode which is the personal ode of
description and passionate meditation . It is clear here that what Keats is passionate about in this poem
is the country green . Keats coined the term negative capability to describe passionate mediation in a

nurture environment is highly looked into. Depression is backed up and proven by scientists and
researchers to come from a person s personal events, can be caused by a person s biology, or even the
abuse of substances is proven to have an impact on the cause of depression as well. The events in a
person s life can have increase ones risk of clinical depression. These events can have an immediate
effect on a person or it can develop later in life. Going through traumatic events may change ones
mental health causing them to become depressed. This is an example of the nurture effect; the
behaviour is something that happens to a person not something they are born with. Events such as
death of a family member, a divorce, or even natural disasters are known to cause a person to become
clinically depressed. Scientists believe that events like this will increase ones risk of becoming
depressed

How Did Giambologna Influence Michelangelo
A comparison of the style between the famous Italian Renaissance Sculptors Michelangelo,
Bandinelli, and Giambologna The Italian Renaissance was an explosion of the arts in Italy, not only in
painting and architecture, but in sculpture as well. Over the span of about eighty years, sculpture
became transcendent during this time. Sculpture style has evolved over the course of many years from
something that was not just considered philosophical or just simply aesthetic, but to something that
involves and combines both. One artist that started this shift was Michelangelo. Michelangelo created
breathtaking statues, and because of his innovative thinking and style, he paved the way for other
extraordinary and visionary artists like Bandinelli and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This work was created between the years of 1574 1580 which were many years after the completion of
David and Hercules and Cacus. Giambologna completely created a new and innovative way of
sculpting works. Instead of creating static figures like Michelangelo and Bandinelli, Giambologna
created intense and dramatic characters. The faces on the figures show great emotion. The Sabine
woman is reaching out with a face of distress and uneasiness. The Sabine man on the bottom of the
sculpture has a face filled in terror and worry for the woman being pursued above him. The Roman
carrying the Sabine woman looks like he is in awe of the woman above him. This sculpture expresses
great movement and has a serpentine shape, which was very similar to works from Michelangelo s
later career (like Victory from 1527 28). (In the later part of Michelangelo s career he created works
with a bit more action, than his earlier works). The shape of the figures makes a helix shape, and the
sculpture can be seen differently from all diverse angles. There is an energetic dialogue between the
three figures in this work. There are fleshy characteristics in the figures as well. The bodies of the
figures are muscular and idealized but they are also naturalistic. Especially the hair on the figures look
lifelike and so do the muscles which are accentuated through the contorted positions of the statues.
This shows Giambologna s talent and skill in perfecting the human body with such detail and essence.
Giambologna wanted to create a sense of balance within this work because without one of these
figures in its place, the other figures would fall over. The sculpture also has a sense of weight because
the woman appears to be heavy and the man is balancing to keep his stance, but also to lift her up. The

Bo Wang In 2017, scientists discovered a planet hidden beyond Pluto, they named it planet X. Twenty
years has passed. In 2037, NASA decided to launch a robotic mission on planet X. The goal of the
mission is to find the existence of water and detecting the major components of atmosphere and soil.
The ultimate goal is to determine whether planet X can become our second Earth. The science fiction
paper will be in the form of a log in the perspective of the space rover landed on Planet X.
Opportunity was launched in July 2003 for an exploration on Mars. Its mission was to search for signs
of past life on Mars [1]. In particular it was searching for geological clues about the existence of water
on Mars and whether Mars was wet enough to be hospitable to life [2]. Opportunity was lucky that it
landed close to a thin out crop of rocks and it was able to find the evidence of existence of deep salty

Northanger Abbey Paper
Set in 1798 England, Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is the coming of age story of Catherine
Morland, a naïve young girl who spends time away from home at the malleable age of seventeen.
Catherine s introduction into society begins when Mr. and Mrs. Allen, her neighbors in Fullerton,
invite her to accompany them as they vacation in the English town of Bath. While in Bath, Catherine
spends her time visiting newly made friends, such as Isabella Thorpe, and attending balls and plays.
Catherine soon after is introduced to Henry Tilney, a handsome yet mysterious clergyman whom she
finds herself attracted to. Catherine also befriends Eleanor
Tilney, Henry s sister, and is invited to join the Tilney s at their estate, Northanger Abbey. As ... Show

Alongside Isabella, Catherine begins to learn the ways of the world, though never losing her simplicity
or honesty. She discovers that countless people are defined by their wealth and status. Many of the
characters that Catherine interacts with are preoccupied with material possessions, such as General
Tilney, father of Henry and Eleanor. The General wants nothing more than for his children to marry
into wealthy families and continually asks Catherine to compare his own home and gardens to those of
Mr. Allen, With a triumphant smile of self satisfaction, the General wished he could do the same, for
her never entered his (gardens), without being vexed in some way or other, by its falling short of his
plan (167). Austen points out how General Tilney must compare himself to someone inferior to him in
order to boast to Catherine about his own majestic gardens. During her stay in Bath, Catherine
discovers the intricacies and ennui s of high society and marriage. She learns that it is not proper for a
woman to be seen riding in an open carriage with a man who she is not engaged to and that often,
women marry for money, rarely for love. Money often determines social and economic class. Class in
1798 England is central to the overriding marriage concerns which govern society. In order for
Catherine to maintain her reputation and in time, attract a man to be her husband, she must learn to

Sarastro In The Magic Flute
The Bergman film of Mozart s comic opera, The Magic Flute, talks about a prince named, Tamino,
who was attacked by a big serpent. Luckily, three ladies who are the servants of the Queen of the
Night saved him. Later on, the three ladies showed him a portrait of the queen s daughter, Pamina, and
Tamino instantly falls in love with her. The Queen of the Night promises Tamino that he can have her
daughter, if he can rescue Pamina who is imprisoned by the evil Sarastro. Tamino agrees, and was
given a magic flute by the three ladies. Papageno, who is a bird catcher, also received a magic bell by
the ladies. By the power of the magic flute and the magic bells, Tamino rescues Pamina and falls in
love immediately. The film eventually exposes Sarastro as a high priest and not an evil sorcerer.
Sarastro protected Pamina from her mother who is filled with ambition to dominate the world. In Act
II, Sarastro imposes three tests on Tamino, if he wanted Pamina. The first test is Silence. The ... Show

If you leave the big questions to the aristocracy then problems won t be solved, if it didn t affect or

preventing people to understand the truth and was often associated with Empress Maria Theresa.
Women with power are dangerous and unpredictable because they often like to compete with other
countries for power and status quo. Mozart did a very good job in drawing upon the Queen of the
Night trying to dominate the world, but justice was served to the Queen when a thunderbolt struck her
and she went to hell. Men of the upper classes does not necessary master their passions and behave

Chapter 3. Biological bases of mental life and behaviour
Task A. Answer the following five learning objectives [maximum 100 words per objective]
1. Explain the structure of neurons. How do neurons communicate with each other? How does the
Endocrine system communicate?
A neuron consists of a cell body, axon and dendrites. The cell body has a neuron, which is the control
centre that controls and regulates the activities of the neuron. The dendrites are extending in a branch
formation, projecting out from the cell body, which receives nerve impulses. The nerves travels down
the axon until it reaches the synapse, which are the gap between two neurons. The nerve impulse must
be converted into a neurotransmitter to be received by the other neuron triggering an electrical
impulse.
With the endocrine system, messages are sent into the bloodstream by hormones, which amplify the
signal to the whole body. Only the cells with the correct receptors will activate.
2. Describe the Peripheral Nervous System and explain the two systems involved in work/exercise and
rest.
The peripheral nervous system consists of nerves that branch out from the brain and the spinal cord. It
has two components, the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic
nervous system is made up of nerves that connect to voluntary skeletal muscles and to sensory

Gun Control Vs No Fly List Essay
Our candidates for president have very unbalanced opinions on most of the political issues. This
coming election will be one to remember because we have two very contrasting candidates, Hillary
Clinton and Donald Trump. Gun control is the selling and the use of firearms for the citizens and it
compares to the No Fly List because this list deals with the traveling of suspected criminals. There are
many issues needing to be solved, but Gun Control and the No Fly list both have problems that stand
out with many opinions and ideas.
Gun Control
With the issue of gun control, there tends to be many different inferences and questions about what
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are thinking, and what they are going to do to solve this problem.

The individuals on the no fly list are people who are suspected terrorists, that are not allowed to fly on
a plane, or travel into or leave the United States. This list was made to prevent terrorists from being on
planes, or traveling to other countries to do harm, and other reasons. The question is, should citizens
on the no fly list be able to purchase guns? Hillary Clinton doesn t think they should be able to, and
Donald Trump just wants to lock away the criminals, and let responsible people purchase guns. Hillary
Clinton and Donald Trump have big voices in this political issue. Clinton, June 13 (5:14 mark): And I
still am just totally bewildered by the Republican Congress refusal to block suspected terrorists from
buying guns who are on the no fly list. (Lori Robertson) Hillary Clinton s opinion is that they shouldn
t be able to purchase guns because they could potentially be doing more harm than good. Clinton also
says, Just what will it take for Congress to overcome the intimidation of the gun lobby and do
something as sensible as making sure people on the terrorist watch list can t buy weapons? (Heidi
Przybyla) Clearly she thinks something needs to be done, and someone needs to step up and do
something about it. As for the other candidate, Donald Trump, says, If somebody is on a watch list and
an enemy of state and we know it s an enemy of state, I would keep them away, absolutely.
(Ontheissues.org) He would say that people on the No Fly List may not purchase guns because they
could harm the country, or other

Question 2 In The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, which social groups are marginalized,
excluded, or silenced within the text?
______________________________________________________________________________
The topic of racism and exclusion is shown in the real world and has been shown in America since the
very beginning. Ever since 1492, when Columbus discovered the Americas, there was an instant
leverage in terms of power over minorities. Over time, whites and other minorities have had a
conflicting relationship in society. In the book, The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by
Sherman Alexie the natives living on reservations are excluded and mistreated in society. There are
examples throughout the book where the natives living on the reservation are marginalized, excluded
and silenced within the text displaying the topic of racism.
The topic of racism is big in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. The reservation is an
example of racism, straight off the beginning of the book it is clear poverty is a big problem in these
reservations. The quote on page 3 state s, Witnesses. They were all witnesses and nothing more. For
hundreds of years, Indians were witnesses to crimes of an epic scale. Victor s uncles were in the midst
of a misdemeanor that would remain one even if somebody was to die. One Indian killing another did

  • 2. Lord Byron And William Shakespeare Since the beginning of time, human beings have found a variety of ways to illustrate their affections for one another. An intriguing form to present an individual s ideal thoughts across is the form of poetry, for it displays a deep and mysterious meaning behind the connotation of the words used. Poetry allows writers to express themselves through the act of writing with the usage of a few words. However, it is sometimes difficult for a reader to comprehend what the poem is trying to imply, but that is the beauty behind poetry which as a reader, one might have a different interpretations from another. In an analysis of She walks in beauty by Lord Byron and Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare, they both have a unique distinction on how the words are used to project affections to their respective lover. The linguistic style of the poets diverges in their depiction the physical appearance, emotive feelings, and understanding what the lover means to them. Lord Byron and William Shakespeare did an incredible job analyzing their counterpart s physical appearance that was just mind blowing to a reader. Throughout the poem She walks in beauty by Lord Byron, he uses imagery that allowed him to compare his lover with nature. She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellowed to the tender light Which heaven gaudy day denies (Lines 1 6). This stanza states that his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Welfare Has Changed From The Colonial Period It is important to discuss the history of the emergence of this social problem. I will discuss the essence of poverty as a social problem and how that has affected how welfare is distributed among single mothers. Some factors that contributed to this social problem are the economy and he increasing amount of people who lived in poverty. The government felt that it was necessary to be proactive about the growing issue of poverty. The government was also taking a look at how money was being spent and how that contributed to the nation s debt. As a result some policies were put into place to address those issues. Many programs were on a trial and error period to determine the success rate of that program. If the social program had expenses that seemed to add to the deficit then those programs were either revamped or eliminated. It is important to examine how Welfare has changed from the Colonial period to present. A social problem is an undesirable condition that affects individuals or groups of people. Single mothers is the population that I will be discussing in this paper. Welfare reform and its impact on single mothers well being is the social problem that I ve chosen to analyze. Single mothers that are welfare recipients often go through different experiences that affect their well being. However, the Welfare reform changes have been a factor that has contributed to their well being positively and negatively. The goal of the reform is to cut down on social spending ... • 4. Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Australia and Climate Change Market based policies are a proven way to limit carbon pollution and channel capital and innovation into clean energy, helping to avert the catastrophic consequences of climate change EDF vice president for international climate, Nathaniel Keohan Introduction In a contemporary political setting, it is now broadly recognized that over the 20th century, the atmospheric concentrations of key greenhouse gases, particularly Carbon Dioxide have been amplified by human activity. Australia can be held accountable for around 1.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. However, Australia is one of the largest carbon polluters per capita, sitting around 24.4 tonnes per person. Much policy discussion about climate change suggests that surplus carbon emissions are the result of failure of the market. Since the ongoing costs of environmental degradation and climate change are not internalized in pricing fossil fuel; a commonsense (and widely flavored by policy makers in the international community) economic solution is to internalize the cost of carbon emissions. Cap and trade emissions trading schemes have proven largely popular in the global policy making community, as they enable market flexibility and allow for international targets to be met. The problem with incentive based economic mechanisms is that it is optional by nature. Relevant parties opt in to the free market mechanism, rather than being required to participate in a policy based mechanism. The latter however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Racial Segregation During The 1960 s Civil Rights... A primary technique used to overcome racial segregation during the 1960 s Civil Rights Movement in the United States was direct action. One of the most influential leaders of the Civil Rights Movement was Martin Luther King Junior who is known for his use of nonviolent direct action, which often entailed the violation of laws as an act of civil disobedience. On April 16, 1963, King composed his Letter from Birmingham Jail, where he accepted the consequences for his disobedience against the Birmingham law which forbids one to parade without a permit. In the letter, King explains the intent of nonviolent direct action, and that although his actions broke the law, this particular act of civil disobedience may be morally justified because the law itself was unjust. In fact, King held a high respect for the supreme law of the United States the Constitution as it grants equal protection of all under the law. It was the specific laws throughout the nation which promoted racial segregation that King found to be unjust and required direct action to be overturned. With reference to his Letter from Birmingham Jail, I will explain King s concept of the nature and purpose of nonviolent direct action and its relation to civil disobedience, as well as why in order for nonviolent direct action to fulfill its purpose, humans must have the capacity to embrace their natural senses of justice and sympathy in order to suppress their self interests in favor of justice. In his letter, King ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The TED Talk Txtng Is Killing Language The first text message was sent 25 years ago, on December 3, 2017, another leap forward in communications technology. Texting, like the fax, email, or instant messages allowed people to communicate nearly instantaneously through writing. As texting and other forms of instant messaging have developed, so have new ways to abbreviate words used throughout instant communication. These abbreviations feature phrases like, LOL which is laughing out loud, THNX which is thanks, and BRB which is be right back. The essay, Texting by David Crystal defines several texting abbreviations, and describes why someone might uses texting abbreviations, or textspeak as he calls it, as well as the issues that can arise from using textspeak (241 246). Another essay, r u online? : The Evolving Lexicon of Wired Teens, details how teens today are using instant messaging as their main form of communication, and expresses concern for the consequences of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere at an instantaneous rate (247 249). Finally, the TED Talk Txtng is Killing Language. JK!!! by John McWhorter, emphasizes that many of the fears concerning the effects of texting on language are unfounded (00:00:00 00:13:48). Due to the new abbreviations, and the lack of emphasis on full sentences or proper grammar, many people have concerns that texting and instant messaging are having an adverse effect on the English language. However, their fears are unfounded; texting has little to no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparing Jocasta In The Odyssey And Oedipus Most seems to enjoy tight casting female characters through two tropes: either the damsel in distress waiting for her knight in shining armor to save her, or a tough, power indulged witch who s only concern is herself. Very few times (and by even fewer male authors) will a female character be written as a medium between the two extremes. This problem has been occurring for centuries almost, even being found in literature dating back to B.C., with Penelope from Homer s The Odyssey and Jocasta from Sophocles Oedipus Rex : Penelope being written as the damsel with hundreds of suitors vying for her attention, all while desperately weaving and waiting day in and day out for her true love to come home; Jocasta as this harsh women who only wants to be around when everything is working to her advantage. Then there s Antigone, who stands up for her morals against Thebes without so much as batting an eye. The Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, ruler of Ithaca who has been lost out at sea for the past 20 years after the Trojan war. At home waiting is his son Telemachus and his wife Penelope. Unsurprisingly Telemachus with the help of Athene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Oedipus presented her with the soothsayer s report about how he killed his father and will inevitably bed his mother keep in mind, Jocasta knew this was all true she put so much effort into making Oedipus believe that this wasn t true and that it was impossible (Sophocles 38). Later on when Oedipus found out Jocasta was his own mother, Jocasta later killed herself before she had to face responsibility for her actions to more than just Oedipus and his men. (Sophocles ... • 8. Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2 Analysis William Shakespeare s Hamlet is an enduring revenge tragedy which reflects the philosophical values and concepts of the Renaissance era. The humanistic and existentialistic natures of man, as well as the process of scepticism have a significant impact on the ways one reacts to external factors. Shakespeare explores how one reacts to their context, encapsulating these philosophies throughout the play. Caught on the bridge between the Middle Ages and the enlightenment period, the Renaissance era opened up a wide array of philosophical values concerning the humanistic and existentialistic natures of man. At this point in history, man surpassed God at centre stage, with the newfound ability to reason and self determine. Linked to this is the existentialistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is this philosophical scepticism which corrupts the mind of Hamlet, as he embarks on a journey to foil his uncle s betrayal through his antic disposition . This feigned madness is one of the central elements of the play, bringing about one of the most discussed questions; whether Hamlet was actually mad or not. His disposition is also linked to the recurring motif of surveillance, blurring the lines between appearance and reality. Hamlet s soliloquy in Act 2 Scene 2 acts as a catalyst for change, springing Hamlet into action as he formulates a surveillance scheme to discover the truth of King Claudius treachery. Through this, one can assert that while Hamlet captures the essence of madness, his deep thinking and speculation indicates that he is essentially only mad in craft . It is because of his scepticism that Hamlet meticulously utilises the metafictional play within a play to observe his[Claudius ] looks , and hence know my[his] course and kill Claudius. The fact that acting itself is putting on false appearances symbolises and further highlights the distortion of truth within this revenge tragedy full of dishonesty. Hamlet s introspective character is able to engage with the audience through his many soliloquies in which he reveals his suspicions and unadulterated thoughts. The structure of the play reflects ... According to the Norton Anthology of Theory and Criticism (2001), he started his education in Westminster School and continued in Trinity College, Cambridge where he graduated in 1654, (2001). Dryden is known for his poetry, drama, criticism and translations, such as Virgil s Aeneid, and translations of Homer (The Princeton Encyclopaedia of Poetry and Poetics, 2012). Dryden s philosophical poetry shows his awareness of fideism, modern science, skepticism, and deism (Wellek, R Warren, A., 1942). This poem was written in 1960 by a woman named Gwendolyn Brooks. In this paper three topics have been selected so that this poem will be able to be analyzed. With each element, it will de discussed how those elements affected and interested me while reading. The three elements that have been written about are form, language, and content. Form, in poetry, can be understood as the physical structure of the poem: the length of the lines, their rhythms, their system of rhymes and repetition (The Poetry Archive, 2005 2010). Form is the technical word for the look and sound of language (Kwikguide, 2009). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a lot of confusion about what the writer was trying to get across. Initially, the thought that the poem was referring to herself was a bit transparent, so immediately the thought was that it was supposed to be a tragic poem. However, after listening to the author read the poem, and did more research, there was complete surprise. The poem was written to come off as a happy and a very positive poem. As it was mentioned previously, the most interesting part about this poem is the We . Gwendolyn is a very enjoyable sounding writer. She has a very strong pronunciation and the age in her voice helps with the passionate sound of the reading. In conclusion, form, content, and language come together in this literary work to offer a striking emotional response from its reader. Without each of these specific components, the poem simply wouldn t have the same effect. Form is necessary to provide structure, content its scene and language its sound and feel. • 12. Choler Waterborne Diarrheal Disease Public Health Problem Cholera is a waterborne diarrheal disease that can be severely detrimental to a person s health if not treated properly. According to the World Health Organization, cholera is a bacterial disease that originated in India in the 19th century, with seven pandemics spreading around the globe and killing millions of people.1 The current pandemic is still around, and cholera in present times is estimated to affect anywhere from 1.4 to 4.3 million children and adults every year.1 The disease is especially rampant during the rainy season, when the climate is wet and the bacteria spread easily.2 The bacteria strain Vibrio cholerae can culture itself in water, thus contaminating it and making the water dangerous to anyone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be as simple as obtaining the proper tools and medications to treat the portion of the community that has contracted cholera and making sure that they are cared for in a clean, hygienic area. Though cholera is indeed a dangerous and potentially deadly illness, the treatment for it is rather straightforward and basic. Patients that are affected simply need to replenish the water and nutrients that they lose when they are going through symptoms of cholera such as diarrhea and dehydration.7 This can be accomplished through the use of oral rehydration solutions, usually a mixture of salts and fluids.7 In serious cases where the cholera disease has caused severe dehydration, patients may need to have their fluids replaced intravenously.1,7 Another relatively simple option for treatment of cholera is antibiotic therapy involving tetracycline, which can cause the length of the illness to be reduced and then decrease the need for oral rehydration therapy.8 Essentially, it all comes down to the government taking affirmative action to go to the source of the problem and keep it from spreading. In developed and industrialized countries, cholera is nearly non existent and this is because there are high standard levels for clean water requirements and overall sanitation.4 The World Health Organization has implemented a Global Task Force on Cholera Control through which it attempts to monitor, control, and prevent future cases of cholera around the world.1 One of the best examples of successful elimination of cholera is the United States, where the last major outbreak of cholera occurred in 1911.9 Following the outbreak, the United States government implemented several public health policies that centered around stricter sanitation and hygiene practices and advancing water purification techniques in order to ... Wetherell develop the ideas of being lost and found in love. Cofer discusses the topic of finding one s way with the help of love, while Wetherell discusses losing oneself in love. Love is described as a quality or feeling. In the two stories, love is much more than that. It is what forces the two characters, Luis and the narrator, to make important decisions and come upon realizations. Sometimes, life trips people up, and it takes something huge for them to change. • 14. The Ethics Of Plato And Aristotle In this essay, I will be examining the ethics of Plato and Aristotle. I will explain the five fundamental concepts of Plato and Aristotle. I will focus on their theories on the good life as a life of justice, censorship, knowledge and the good life. I will first explain Plato s ethics. Plato was a philosopher, both a rationalist and absolutist. According to Plato, people must be schooled to obtain certain kinds of knowledge for example mathematics, philosophy etc. The training will give them the ability to know the nature of the good life. Not many people have the mental ability to learn what the good life is. They have to be exactly like a person who has knowledge. The people who have knowledge are to be the leaders in the society. Finding the nature of the good life is an intellectual task, which is similar to discovering mathematical truths. They must develop righteous habits of behavior. Plato believes that control is necessary to stop some of the experiences by young people if they are to discover the nature of the good life. If a person can discover what is right and knows what the good life is, he or she will not go against the principles. Plato s virtue of wisdom, courage and temperance are in operation, a supreme virtue is indication in justice. Wisdom is the feature of the intellect. Courage is the feature of the will. Temperance is the feature of the appetites. There is one and only one good life for all to lead since goodness is not dependent on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There have been inventions such as the automobile, the airplane, the television and even travel in space. There have been changes like the World Wars, Prohibition, the Great Depression and the cold war. Through the years, the American people have encountered joy, peace, and tragedy. One of the greatest tragedies experienced by Americans occurred on Sunday, December 7, 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor Naval Base. One could consider this incident the first act of terrorism against America. The day was significant because of its impact on history. The attack and defeat of the United States at Pearl Harbor forced America into World War II. Surrounded by land on the southern coast of Oahu, near Honolulu, in the Hawaiian Islands lies the port of Pearl Harbor. At the time of the attack, Hawaii was not a state. However, the United States claimed it as a territory. The U.S. Navy established a base at Pearl Harbor to house the Pacific Fleet, and to train men for war. In the early 1940 s the base became a supply post for Great Britain in the fight against the Nazi Germany attacks. In 1940, World War II was well under way with Great Britain, France, the USSR, China, Greece and other Allies against the Axis Powers when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Until this point, the United States stance had remained noncommittal about the war. In July 1940, the U.S. placed an embargo on Japan, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Codifications and further developments of existing religious traditions provided a bond among the people and an ethical code to live by. Religion has been a dominant cultural, ethical, and political force throughout human history, both recent and ancient. Religion has been science and asylum for many generations of very many people, uniting them in their common faith. Temples were built for people to pray and perform sacrifice in, giving the people a common cause to live for and thereby creating personal relations between people even before you got to know them. The unique features of ancient religions were that they were all polytheistic, meaning that they recognized many gods, instead of one main one. And the problem with this was that in the ancient history, before the invention of writing, nothing was written down: stories were told verbally, laws were passed on verbally, and writing things down was an incredible task for the ancient people, and gave incredible glory to the people that did it, because if it s written down, it s much easier to spread your beliefs and it s harder to forget specifics of your religion or law. Writing down religious and political texts has greatly facilitated the religions diffusion and spread throughout the globe, and consequently, brought together and apart many more religious people and governments. What also helped currently popular and dominant religions spread was that most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, The Frog King and The Swan Maiden, were originally written between the mid eighteenth century and mid nineteenth century. Whether it is the fanciful love story or the magical transformation which attracts and has kept attention throughout the decades, fairytales, specifically those in which either the protagonist or antagonist undergoes a physical change, teach an important lesson to readers. • 21. Keats And Finch And The Nightingale In literature, it is generally agreed that The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something beyond the merely human . Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in Ode to a Nightingale and To the Nightingale by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to look beyond the physical and in Finch s case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst asserting poetry as a human necessity. Keats was a key figure in the Romantic era in the first part of the 17th century which, according to René Wellek s classic definition, sought to substitute imagination for the view of poetry, nature for the view of the world, and symbol and myth for poetic style. Therefore, Keats Ode to a Nightingale , written in 1819, has an affiliation with the natural world, through both the metaphors he uses and his meter and rhyme. The fact that the poem is an Ode to a nightingale shows that Keats is addressing the bird in particular and therefore it asserts the link that is found in Romanticism between humans and the natural world. M. H. Abrams states that Keats wrote this poem, whilst reminiscent of a Horation Ode, as what came to be known as a Romantic Meditative Ode which is the personal ode of description and passionate meditation . It is clear here that what Keats is passionate about in this poem is the country green . Keats coined the term negative capability to describe passionate mediation in a letter to ... The Effects Of Depression And Its Effects On Society Did you know, 20% of Canadians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime (Canadian Mental Health Association, 2015), of that more than 350 million people of all ages will be affected by depression? Depression is a mood disorder caused by an overwhelming feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It has a negative effect on how one goes through their day to day activities. Depression is more than just having a bad day , it is a serious mental disorder that can harm people s lives. The causes of depression are widely ranged. The debate between if depression comes from a nature vs nurture environment is highly looked into. Depression is backed up and proven by scientists and researchers to come from a person s personal events, can be caused by a person s biology, or even the abuse of substances is proven to have an impact on the cause of depression as well. The events in a person s life can have increase ones risk of clinical depression. These events can have an immediate effect on a person or it can develop later in life. Going through traumatic events may change ones mental health causing them to become depressed. This is an example of the nurture effect; the behaviour is something that happens to a person not something they are born with. How Did Giambologna Influence Michelangelo A comparison of the style between the famous Italian Renaissance Sculptors Michelangelo, Bandinelli, and Giambologna The Italian Renaissance was an explosion of the arts in Italy, not only in painting and architecture, but in sculpture as well. Over the span of about eighty years, sculpture became transcendent during this time. Sculpture style has evolved over the course of many years from something that was not just considered philosophical or just simply aesthetic, but to something that involves and combines both. One artist that started this shift was Michelangelo. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This work was created between the years of 1574 1580 which were many years after the completion of David and Hercules and Cacus. Giambologna completely created a new and innovative way of sculpting works. Instead of creating static figures like Michelangelo and Bandinelli, Giambologna created intense and dramatic characters. The faces on the figures show great emotion. The Sabine woman is reaching out with a face of distress and uneasiness. The Sabine man on the bottom of the sculpture has a face filled in terror and worry for the woman being pursued above him. The Roman carrying the Sabine woman looks like he is in awe of the woman above him. This sculpture expresses great movement and has a serpentine shape, which was very similar to works from Michelangelo s later career (like Victory from 1527 28). (In the later part of Michelangelo s career he created works with a bit more action, than his earlier works). The shape of the figures makes a helix shape, and the sculpture can be seen differently from all diverse angles. There is an energetic dialogue between the three figures in this work. There are fleshy characteristics in the figures as well. The bodies of the figures are muscular and idealized but they are also naturalistic. Especially the hair on the figures look lifelike and so do the muscles which are accentuated through the contorted positions of the statues. This shows Giambologna s talent and skill in perfecting the human body with such detail and essence. Giambologna wanted to create a sense of balance within this work because without one of these figures in its place, the other figures would fall over. The sculpture also has a sense of weight because the woman appears to be heavy and the man is balancing to keep his stance, but also to lift her up. The Rape of the ... Biological bases of mental life and behaviour Task A. Answer the following five learning objectives [maximum 100 words per objective] 1. Explain the structure of neurons. How do neurons communicate with each other? How does the Endocrine system communicate? A neuron consists of a cell body, axon and dendrites. The cell body has a neuron, which is the control centre that controls and regulates the activities of the neuron. The dendrites are extending in a branch formation, projecting out from the cell body, which receives nerve impulses. The nerves travels down the axon until it reaches the synapse, which are the gap between two neurons. The nerve impulse must be converted into a neurotransmitter to be received by the other neuron triggering an electrical impulse. With the endocrine system, messages are sent into the bloodstream by hormones, which amplify the signal to the whole body. Only the cells with the correct receptors will activate. 2. Describe the Peripheral Nervous System and explain the two systems involved in work/exercise and rest.
