Examples Of Ambition In Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar Essay
In the book Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, the darker sides of human nature are exposed such
as jealousy, deceitfulness, desire for revenge, and ambition or arrogance. The most important themes
that are shown throughout this book are revenge, jealousy, and ambition. Revenge is evident from
Mark Antony while he tries to avenge his friend Julius Caesar. All the violence represents his revenge
as he gets an army to defeat the conspirators. Jealousy is evident from a variety of characters in the
book as they are jealous of Julius Caesar s power. Also, ambition is clearly identified in the story
because of the acts of Julius Caesar and Cassius. Revenge, jealousy, and ambition all play big impacts
in this story.
Revenge is a very important trait in Julius Caesar. The character in the book that best represents this
trait is Mark Antony. Antony acts to avenge the death of his good friend, Julius Caesar. Antony ...

Cassius is starting to grow feelings about Julius Caesar as he gets really jealous of him and wants to
murder him. In a way Cassius started to feel a little threatened. Cassius says, Ye gods! It doth amaze
me; a man of such a feeble temper should, so get the start of the majestic, and bear the palm alone.
(Insert page # and quotes). Most of the conspirators except Brutus, want to kill Caesar because the
amount of power he holds and they want to take it from him. Even with everyone telling Caesar to not
go to the Capulet, he still does not listen. Many have told him bad things will happen to him and even
with all the things that have been said to him but he still wants to go. What mean you, Caesar? Think
you to walk forth? You shall not stir out of your house to day said Calpurnia. Casca is also another
character in the book that is extremely jealous of Caesar s power and what he is able to do. Mere
foolery said Casca. Jealousy is a very important theme in this

What Role Does Morality Play In A Utopian Society
The concept of utopia is one which has many differing connotations and is therefore also one which
cannot be confined to one interpretation alone. The term is commonly used to represent a community
or society that, in theory, possesses highly desirable or near perfect qualities; however, these
encompassing ideals, which arguably place emphasis on egalitarian principles of equality, are
implemented in a number of ways and are subsequently based on varying ideologies, thus insisting on
varying views of morality. The word itself, which was first coined by Sir Thomas More in the early
sixteenth century and used to describe a fictional island society in the Atlantic Ocean, was taken from
the Greek οὐ ( not ) and τόπος ( place ), literally translating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The task at hand is to establish the perception of a utopic past, and therefore it is with regard to these
two contrasting notions of utopia that I will be considering the ways in which both William Blake s
The Marriage of Heaven and Hell and Algernon Charles Swinburne s Hermaphroditus seek to expose
and challenge the mechanisms of traditional views regarding spiritualism and the physical form, as
well as critiquing the mode of normative sexuality and representations of the body. Another important
concept to consider alongside this is that of dystopia, which is characterized by dehumanization,
totalitarian governments, and all matters associated with a cataclysmic decline in society. Dystopic
societies are usually set in the future and provide an antonymic, frightening opposition to the general
concept of utopia. Rather than portraying an idyllic state of civilisation which promises an exit from
the cycle of life and death, the term dystopia is used to draw attention to real world issues which if
unaddressed could potentially lead to such a dystopia like

Analysis Of The Movie The Film
I was not planning on reviewing this before it aired, but after screening it, I was so utterly impressed
with this movie seriously, it is one of the best Hallmark films I have seen in a long time. And I don t
say that glibly by any means. I know I am known for my positive reviews, but this one goes far
beyond that. I never once had to remind myself to concentrate on the positive aspects of the film. The
acting, the story, and the message were one of the finest Hallmark has featured in some time. Not to
mention, it was gentle, amusing, and genuinely enjoyable family viewing. At the beginning of the
film, we are introduced to Maya and Addison as played by Rachael and Hannah respectively. To be
honest, Rachael was new to me I am far behind on television films from the past. I am playing
proverbial catch up right now. Hannah was a returning favorite from both October Kiss and even My
Sweet Adrina. Both actresses were enchanting, and I could sympathize with single mother Maya
dropping off her techie daughter at summer camp. I think many parents will understand the dilemma.
What? No cell phones at camp? Rachael infused Maya s character with precisely the right kind of
motherly intuition and skills (well, she is a mother in real life, and I would suppose that is
advantageious in this situation). And Hannah characterizes Addison just as one would expect.
Definitely a wonderful relationship between the two actresses to play such a convincing mother
daughter relationship on

Modernism And Postmodernism
Modernism is very troublesome to define with clarity because of the fact that the term revolves around
various genres of movements be it artistic or philosophical. Nonetheless, there are some primary
beliefs of the Modernist genres that appeal in someway or the other to the various movements and also
the writers.
Modernism in general can broadly be described as the deviation from the ancient and classic manner .
(Johnson, J., The New Royal and Universal English Dictionary, Millard, 1763). It is the radical
movement away from the past in search of new styles of expression. It refers to a reforming
movement away from the traditional forms in various fields like architecture, art, music, and literature

1997.)
As post modernism was a direct reaction to modernism, the two along with their respective theorists
often criticize each other and often justify their views in various debates and discourses.
Habermas and the Unfinished Project of Modernity is a collection of essays, which show us the
discourse between modernism and Post modernism. Jürgen Habermas is a German social theorist who
is also a strong defender of modernity. He vigorously counteracts various criticisms made by post
modernist theorists on modernism. Many intellectuals in the modern day have become skeptical about
the emancipatory potential of modernity but Habermas still believes and continues to insist on the
idealistic utopian potential of modernity as the child of enlightenment . As modernism take has
influences from democracy and reason, Habermas sees it as an unfinished project. By this Habermas is
trying to state that there is still so much to be done in the domain of modernism before contemplating
a move to the post modern world.
Marx influenced Habermas as he had an association with the Frankfurt School of social thought, but
nonetheless believed that Marx s views needed to be thoroughly changed in order to make them
genuinely contemporary and modern. Considering this, Habermas came up with two important
theories namely The Theory of Communication, and The Theory of Rationalization of System and
Life world. In his theory of communication, Habermas assigns himself to redefine the Marxian

Tevye s Fiddler On The Roof
The definition of a fiddler is as follows: a person who plays the violin, especially one who plays folk
music. However, in the play Fiddler on the Roof , the word fiddler has so much more meaning. It
means tradition, balance, and it is also a representation of the people of Anatevka. The fiddler in the
play shows up fairly often. And every time it adds meaning to the play. At the very beginning, Tevye
tells us that the fiddler is a representation of the people of Anatevka: But in our little village of
Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant,
simple tune without breaking his neck. (Pg 2) And it is completely true. Throughout the book it is
evident that Tevye especially struggles to keep his balance while he tries to keep ... Show more

Speaking of balance, that s the other thing that the fiddler represents. When Tevye comes back from
the bar, and after speaking to the constable (Pg. 54), the fiddler comes into the scene and ...he circles
Tevye, and they dance off together. (Pg. 54). In the book, that s all it says. However, in the movie you
can see the fiddler beckoning Tevye and they begin to dance off together, but the music slowly begins
to spin out of control as the fiddler dances off the stage with Tevye and the next scene begins. This
indicates that the story is going to spin out of control. So that is how the fiddler represents balance,
because the music spinning out of control represents them losing balance. The music that the fiddler
plays represents their balance. Which ties into the first quote I mentioned, where Tevye explains that
each person in Anatevka is a fiddler on the roof trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without
breaking his neck. (Pg 2.) So, what the music sounds like is how balanced they are. If they are
beginning to fall off the roof, the music gets more intense because the fiddler is

The Ashanti tribe is located in central Ghana in the rainforest of West Africa. They are the major
ethnic group in this roughly 50 years old young nation. The Ashanti people are known as fierce
fighters whether they are women or man. The tribe have a slogan: If I go forward I die, If I go

And China, driven by the need to conserve energy and avoid pollution, plans to have 5 million
vehicles powered only by electric motors (all electrics) on the road by 2020. All electric vehicles
(EVs) have existed almost as long as gas engine vehicles, offering advantages of refueling with
relatively cheap electricity, quieter ride, and simpler mechanisms. They emit no pollutants, require no
fossil fuels, and the electricity to power them can be generated from clean sources such as wind and
solar in years to come. They can be recharged from 110 or 220 volt outlets at nominal cost and do not
require oil changes, tune ups or emissions inspections. The shift to electric powered cars is expected to
cause sales of gasoline and diesel powered cars to begin to decline about 2020. EVs remain limited by
range on a single battery charge and time required for recharge. However, significant advances in
batteries and capacitors and the emergence of home and public charging and exchange stations are
making EVs more practical. Some plug in hybrids, like the GM Volt, are designed for all electric drive
with on board charging. Improvements in technology will show up directly as models with increased
range for all battery or all ultraca pacitor mode appear in the market. Auto manufacturers are offering

Superman And Me Sherman Alexie Analysis
Family values have an enormous impact on children. These impacts constantly reveal altered
outcomes. In the essay Superman and Me, a Native American boy is empowered by his heritage to
break through stereotypes of intelligence. Likewise, Stone Soup presents a single mother who breaks
through stereotypes to see her differences as a normality. Although both of these authors are faced
with harsh situations, these essays lead to unlikely empowerment in the end. Whereas Alexie
perceives pride as encouraging others to look past stereotypes of race through intelligence, Kingsolver
perceives pride in the strength of a single mother, a mother who doesn t make her children any less
happy. In the essay Superman and Me, Sherman Alexie tells an inspirational story of how he managed
to push through standards and encourage Native Americans to want better for themselves. The author

everything in her life which made it almost impossible for her to cope and leaving her in denial of her

Human s Helpful Nature Can Sometimes Do More Harm Than Good
Humans prove to be extremely influential, whether it is answering a question in an interview, or
recollecting every detail about a crime, their answers can be impacted by the actions of the
interviewer. Human s helpful nature can sometimes do more harm than good.
Often in times a witness trying to be more helpful by recollecting things they do not remember can
have dire consequences, such as a conviction of the wrong person. During the experiment conducted
by Elizabeth Loftus, many people were asked about details about a crime committed, each question
dictated a different answer depending on two things; how the question is asked, and who asked the
question (Eyewitness testimony: Psychological aspects, 2009).
There are many positive uses for open ended, as well as closed ended questions, both have their place
at specific moments in an interview. Open ended questions can be extremely useful to get a substantial
amount of information, but they are not always the best ways to ask specific questions. Closed ended
questions can allow an interviewer to control the interview more easily. Interviewers can control an
interview in many ways, most of these controls are positive aspects to an interview; one thing an
interviewer should not control however, is the answers being given. This is referred to as leading,
leading questions can control the witness to say exactly what the interviewer is hoping for them to say,
which can conclude in a wrongful conviction. Asking a question that

Mustard: The Greatest Among The Herbs

Summary:
Known and used since ancient times, and called the greatest among the herbs in the Bible, mustard
and its healing properties are discussed in this article. How to grow it, how to use it, and recipes for
using the seed and greens are included.
Keywords: mustard, plants, seeds, greens, uses in the kitchen, recipes, growing, harvesting
Article Body:
Mustard plants have been used for thousands of years for their pungent flavour in condiments, spicy
greens for side dishes and salads, and in traditional folk medicine and Chinese herbal medicine to treat
a variety of ailments. The name mustard comes from the Latin mustum ardens, or burning must. It was
so named because as the seeds were pounded with unfermented grape juice, or must, their pungent
qualities developed, hence burning. Mustards seeds are mentioned in ancient Sanskrit writings dating
back about 5,000 years ago and the Bible calls mustard the greatest among the herbs. Valued for their
intense flavours and healing properties, mustard seed and the plant itself have been grown for its
beautiful yellow flowers and spicy seedling leaves. Members of the Brassicaceae family, mustard is a

The Benefits Of Fertilizer In Russia
Within Russia, there are several unmet needs across the nation. One potentially viable product that our
organization can introduce is fertilizer for farmers. Fertilizer is a product that may vary from area to
area, but contains the necessary nutrients that are needed to add to local soils for the growth of specific
agricultural products. This is a significant need within Russia, as the agricultural industry has been
falling behind in recent years. It seems that the nation has difficulty producing enough agricultural
product to support its needs from year to year. Additionally, farmers do not often use fertilizers to help
their crops, which in turn prevents increased productivity. If farmers were educated on the importance

Their cost structure is also inefficient, which will require capital to restructure. Because they are larger
companies these changes will take time, and should be incorporated into their vertical structures. Their
current cost structure decreases their profit margins and the marginal benefit from their economies of

market. This type of enterprise is supported by the Russian government through tax incentives and
lower tariffs, as food production and development is essential to economic growth. They also
specialize in more expensive fertilizers, while there are cheaper components and means of production

Perspiration And Social Anxiety
Explore the Connection Between Social Anxiety and Excessive Perspiration Everyone has problems.
People say that no one is perfect, and I completely believe that to be an axiom of life. As for me, my
fair share of social anxiety and stress comes from a certain health disorder called hyperhidrosis, which
is simply an exaggerated amount of perspiration. For example, it may just be sweating in the palms,
underarms, soles, face or all of the above. Now, just to get an idea of how rare this condition is, it is
estimated that 3% of the United States population is affected to some extent. That amounts to almost
10 million people living and suffering from its wrath. Although I have not been officially diagnosed
with hyperhidrosis, my conviction is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s when a large group of people collaborates to achieve an intended goal, whether that is to inform,
teach, persuade, entertain, or in general, communicate ideas. It s also a complicated time for someone
with hyperhidrosis because the agony and uneasiness of being a center of attention releases an
amplified amount of activity in the sweat glands, leading to severe perspiration. First impressions are
usually crucial in making new friends, connections or even potential partners. Thus, the opportunity is
jeopardized when handshakes are almost always moist and slimy. This extends to interviews too,
regardless of it being academic or occupational. In addition to clammy hands, the matter of underarm
sweating is more trivial than it seems. We have to think about upper wear color schemes that aren t
prone to dark crescent moon blotches. I scorn light greys and typically turn towards whites and blacks.
In the professional workforce, certain dress codes that portray a serious business demeanor must be
followed. In terms of dress shirts, it can be almost impossible to wear bright colors such as green and
blue without being victim to darkened patches in a matter of minutes. Over the years, I ve adapted to
these problems and gotten creative with what works for me. Nevertheless, I d still much rather have

The Importance Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Now many would call Romeo and Juliet the play that teaches us that love, at first sight, is real. While
reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is that love
holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that this play is about
immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what real love is. Their demised
stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from rejection. Stupidity, naivety,
stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to describe Romeo Montague. Now, these
traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy ever which lead him and his supposed love to
their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame
for their demise because the traits Romeo has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty
petty for older people, which is why it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have
waited to even commence their relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their
demise may have been avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same
feelings that he expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there
was Rosaline, another Capulet. If you see how Romeo expresses his feelings for Rosaline, you can see
that it is the same way he later expresses them for Juliet. An example of this would be

Seasonism Religion
When it comes to Seasonism, all six dimensions of religion are present. Seasonism is a polytheistic
religion practiced on Winoc, a small fictional island. In Seasonism, there are four gods which
represent each season; there is the god of winter, spring, summer, and fall. For the people of Winoc to
prosper and live fruitful lives, they must perform rituals, offerings, and prayers that align with the
current season. If they do not please the gods, there will be dire consequences.
Within Seasonism there exists a mythological dimension unlike any other. There are numerous myths
and stories present in Seasonism that explain the creation of the world, the existence of humankind,
and the meaning of life. Naturally, the fundamental myth that Seasonism ... Show more content on

For this reason, the ritual dimension is central to Seasonism. Out of the copious amounts of rituals
found in Seasonism, there are a few that ensure the overall well being of the community. Not only are
fertility dances mandatory in Spring, but they also symbolize vitality in newborns. Women can rest
assured they will have a healthy pregnancy and will not experience any complications while giving
birth. Everyone who resides in Winoc knows that children are the future of their society.
Consequently, rituals surrounding fertility like the fertility dance are taken seriously. Rain dances
involve people screeching, dancing, and reciting Seasonism doctrine, in the hope of being able to
receive enough rainfall to drink water, grow crops, clean their homes, and do work. While the
attendance of rituals demonstrates faith, sacrifices show true devotion. From the head tribal leader to
the laity, everyone is required to sacrifice something they hold dear. It may be anything from a favorite
type of food to a hobby. In Seasonism, a rite of passage involves a ceremony where members of the
community congregate and declare a young person as an adult. During this ceremony, a sacrifice to
the respective season god is made by the person coming of age. Once an individual has gone through
this rite of passage, it is their mission in life to serve the season gods. Any leniencies that adolescent
person had are gone, and they are treated as any other adult citizen. Finally, a trinity of rituals are to be
performed every Summer. This trinity includes the previously mentioned beach slumber for 3 nights,
the consumption of fish for 3 days, and the 3 days of leisure. Clearly, Seasonism contains a few

The Effects Of Video Games Cause Aggression In Children
There have been many debates and studies conducted on aggression in children and if video games are
a major factor in cultivating that aggression. Determining the cause for aggression in children is a
huge concern within the psychological community and the idea that video games could be behind it is
one of the more popular ideas in recent years. However, this also means that the opposition for this
viewpoint is immense and solid proof will be required in order to appease them. In recent years, there
has been an increasing number of support and studies which show a direct correlation between
aggression in children and video games.
Support for the notion that video games causes aggression in children has increased exponentially in
recent years. According to a survey that appeared in Psychology of Popular Media Culture, Brad
Bushman, the creator of the survey, reported that 66% of researchers, 67% of parents, and 90% of
pediatricians agree that video games can increase the levels of aggression in children. He later goes to
state that eight out of ten researchers that had an opinion on the subject agree that aggression in
children is linked to violent video games (USA Today). This shows that there is an overwhelmingly
high number of people that support the idea that video games can cause aggression in children,
especially when the video games are violent in nature. Additionally, while not all parents are as
informed as people that specialize in this craft, the fact that the

Essay on Western Music vs. Indigenous Music
Introduction:
Defining reconciliation alone can be a cumbersome task. It has been defined as many things such as a
collection of lived practices a culture, a cultural project, a sea change in the psyche of a nation and a
product of the imagination of the lunar left (Rigney Hemming, 2011). The main idea one should keep
in mind when reading this paper, is the discrepancies between Indigenous and Western worlds and the
way in which they conceptualise music. When understanding music as a tool for reconciliation, it can
be defined under any of the headings stated above. The way in which traditional and popular music is
discussed in this paper can be identified as a collection of lived practices a culture (Rigney Hemming,
2011) . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When thinking about the music industry from this point of view, the lack of credit and exposure given
to traditional music is appalling. Traditional communities assign an array of powers to their music
such as: the power to heal sickness, create bountiful game, cause lightning to strike [and] kill (Mills,
1996).
As Allan Marett (2005) states in his text Songs, Dreamings and Ghosts: there is a great deal of
ambivalence within Australian society about the contribution that Aboriginal knowledge and modes of
expression can and should make to the national consciousness, ranging from those who embrace
Aboriginal ways of being in the world as the key to understanding how to be in Australia, to those
who reject them totally as primitive, inimical to development, or simply irrelevant to civilised values.
This description is a seemingly accurate account from both sides of non Indigenous Australian s
perceptions of Indigenous Australians. John Howard s eleven year reign as Prime Minister, and his
political campaign of Practical Reconciliation , sheds some understanding on the assimilationist and
westernised mindset that some Australian citizens possess (Gunstone, 2010). However, as Australia
becomes more multicultural unless the nation is content with going into a state of ruin acceptance of
diverse cultures must be recognised and

The Causes Of The Stock Market Crash Of 2008
In Frontline s The Meltdown, the causes of the stock market crash of 2008 came into discussion. The
topics regarding Bear Stearns, the Lehman Brothers and their collapse, and the huge bailout made in
results to the market crash. There were great points being made on the mistakes Henry Paulson and
Ben Bernanke did not view from their perspective, which in turns were the problems that made up the
crash.
It was not until 2007 when foreclosures occurred more and became prominent, especially since the
last market crash during the Great Depression. As Gretchen Morgenson of the New York Times
discusses, Bear Stearns was known for his great plays with mortgages on Wall Street. People who
believed Stearns would pull the right decisions became scared as the values of their assets were
decreasing. This created a necessitated attitude towards money since their was money being borrowed
fighting against the collaterals, in turns the assets. When the assets started to decline, you need to start
paying back money to those you have borrowed from. Roughly $1.6 billion was discarded in Stearns
decisions, which was the start to the stress he would obtain from the crash. This enabled the world to
see how weak the market was, especially those who had a role within the market. When banks also
saw the weakness mortgage companies had developed, they decided to raise the cost of borrowing
money from them, creating doubts if these mortgage firms, such as Stearns, would be able to solve

Gas prices in the United States are breaking record highs. Millions of people need fuel drive to work,
to school, and to the bank, to accomplish daily commitments. Some wonder how gas prices got so
high. Many reasons like high taxes and demand, give strong evidence of the causes of high gas prices.
The effects of elevated gas prices cause Americans financial woes and lifestyle inconveniences. Many
people assume the reasons for high gas prices, but are unaware of the significant explanations. Most
people would speculate the culprits for raising the gas prices are the oil refinery companies because

with the opposing statement that Americans are not significantly affected and would not be until
something traumatic occurs. I fall in the low income range of less than $30,000 per year. Many people

median household income for all states in 2002 2004 is $44,473 per year. (US Census 2004) Many

Dead Men Tell No Tales Analysis
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales
The best and worst Pirates film is the same film.
The most recent Pirates of the Caribean movie Dead Men Tell no Tales has some of the most
interesting and entertaining filmic devices while also having a contrite and contrived narrative that is
weakened by poor technical.
The film opens with a small child (Brenton Thwaites). He gets in a boat. He has a map. He paddles out
into open waters. He throws a bag of rocks into the ocean; the bag tied to his leg. He waits and jumps
in as the bag pulls him deep beneath the water. Intrigue established, the audience has no idea who this
kid is. Maybe it s the child of someone important or maybe this story is an allegory for something else.
Before anyone can truly begin to ponder whether or not this movie about to turn really dark into
suicide, the child lands on the dock of a sunken ship. Then the ship rises.
This sequence is so well written and shot that it plays out beautifully on the big screen. A good film
will always immediately grab the audience and start the narrative. The child creates a mystery and
shocks the viewer, but the familiarity of a kid opening the film a reference perhaps back to the singing
child of Dead Man s Chest and the legendary ship that rises from the water comes straight from Dead
Man s Chest.
Water rushes off the deck as memories of the previous films rush in and immediately the audience can
guess that this is Will s (Orlando Bloom) son who has dropped

Aristotle And Socrates
To answer the question, I will be comparing Pericles s, Aristotle s and Socrates s thoughts about
whether to think ourselves as friends or as strangers. Pericles and Aristotle conceptualize political
communities largely as associations of friends. Pericles believes that participation in democracy, is in
a way allows Athenians to become great warriors, to develop friendship and to have communal
beliefs. Friendship and community are integral to democracy. Pericles said, a man who is private has
no business in Athens. The idea of Democracy is that citizens get the opportunities to participate in
state affairs and help to make certain decisions. Athens is a democratic city, they give equal rights and
opportunities to their citizens to participate in political matters and let their citizens voice be heard. If
you are Athenian citizen, you are very lucky individuals. Socrates on the other hand, conceptualizes
political communities largely as associations of strangers. Socrates believes that it is better to think
about ourselves as strangers than friends. Socrates likes his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

those reasons Socrates philosophies are the better of the two. Pericles and Aristotle failed in this
aspect, because their idea does not allow everyone to participate in the government, particularly those

Dodge Charger Masculinity
The viral Dodge Charger Man s Last Stand (2010) commercial illustrates the loss of masculinity. It
aims to reassert a man s right to control and domination in society through material consumption with
blatant sexist messages. Additionally, it highlights cultural, economic and social structures as the root
cause of the loss of masculinity.
The commercial presents close ups of ethnically diverse men, positioned in the bedroom, the kitchen
and the living room. Each of the males is motionless while a narrator criticizes the day to day
activities that males undertake. For example, the narrator says, I will walk the dog at 6.30 AM (Dodge
Charger, 2010, 0:01). The most basic responsibilities, cleaning up after oneself, are offered as arbitrary

In the closing scene, the man in the fitted suit utters with anger, I will carry your lip balm (Dodge
Charger, 2010, 0:34). Notably, in this scene, the viewer can sense the rage through the raised eyebrow
and the intensity of the eyes. This is a symbol that Goffman associates to male aggression and power
(Jhally, 2009). The men are presenting themselves as expected of them society. Hence, the commercial
is illustrating what Goffman calls commercial realism (Jhally, 2009). Since the viewer tries to resist
the advertisements, this commercial is quick and effective, and thus uses codes of gender display
because they are familiar to us all (Jhally, 2009). Evidently, the commercial aims at depicting men as
metrosexual or rather intruded by the everyday activities to reinforce the features of masculinity:
active, aware of the world and in charge of their surroundings. This point echoes Sean Nixon s
genealogy of the development (1996) of how the representational practice of masculinity is derived
from fashion (metrosexual imagery) and advertising (masculine features) (Gill, forthcoming, para 8).
Additionally, this is furthered by Gill s reflection on Foucault s ideas on all identities are socially
constructed and non essential (forthcoming, para 8). On that condition, the men must engage with the
dominant masculine identities that are portrayed by the

Nursing Position Statement Examples
A position statement from the American Nurses Association (ANA) under Ethics and Human rights

hospital I work for has three different ICU s. The unit I work for specifically deals with the sickest of
the sick we care for everything except traumas, strokes, and open hearts. Most of our patients have
multiple comorbidities, terminal illnesses, and are noncompliant. In my short tenure I have had many
DNR conversations with patients and family members. I cannot stress enough the importance of
communication with both the patient and family members during this critical time. We as nurses have
to remember, we our patients advocates and if and when they can no longer make decisions for
themselves we must be their voices and help to see their wishes are met. A study by White, Engelberg,

Compare And Contrast Existentialism And Nihilism
Let s say that you had to choose to believe in one of the following schools of philosophies:
Existentialism and Nihilism. What would you choose? You wouldn t take a long time deciding
because these two are significantly different from one another. Existentialism is when you appreciate
life and you live your life passionately; believing that your actions will determine your fate and
therefore you can change it. Nihilism however, is the exact opposite. Anything that restrains you from
living your life to the fullest is considered to be nihilistic and you just believe in nothing because at

Secret Sorrow Analysis
Do you have a favourite genre for stories? Stories come in all sorts of genres and themes. They attract
different types of audiences because they make connections with some readers. For example, A Secret
Sorrow is more Fantasy, and A Sorrowful Woman is more realistic. Audiences like me enjoy fantasy
stories since we have an interest in the love connection to the characters. I prefer A Secret Sorrow
because of fantasy, relatability, and love.
In a secret sorrow, Kai and Faye show an example of a fantasy story. His eyes held her locked in
unrelenting demand Why should I be disappointed? (Page 33, Paragraph 52) Kai presents like a prince

A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis
The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories
The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it
is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general
characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the
setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is
happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. In Faulkner s
story, there is much information about the Griersons who have been at the top tier of society for a long

It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a
repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor
and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like
its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying
that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is
drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With
these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be
hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation
can hint at.
Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by
possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are
not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. In Faulkner s story, Miss Emily leaves her
house very seldom as if the surrounding world makes her insecure and unconfident, while a disgusting
stink of decay and frustration seems to start coming from the building she has been occupying for so
many years.

In this position, buyers have a provisional advantage over sellers because buyers can demand
incentives from sellers to close the transaction or find another agreeable seller. The opportunity cost,
or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is typically basic
because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The opportunity cost for
sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with buyers who do not intend to
buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as important to buyers in this type of
market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can easily become desperate to sell a home

But social media in the work place does not end there. Employees will push the envelope and see what

The claims that are made to provide the ideological frame of the film are specific dates. These dates
marked important events, which took place for the Germans and their new beginning. The film begins
with Hitler s arrival; upon his arrival he is greeted and cheered on by a huge crowd and later driven to
a rally. The film then goes where the Nazi leaders are introduced as they give speeches. The film
flashes between events such as, a ceremony, parade, and where Hitler gives his first speech. It ends
with Hitler sharing past experiences of troops and blesses the troops for their loyalty. Hitler then gives
his closing speech and a celebration begins. One example of montage is the different scenes of the

watching the various speeches make it seems as if the viewer is a part of it as well. The overall,

  • 2. Examples Of Ambition In Julius Caesar Julius Caesar Essay In the book Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, the darker sides of human nature are exposed such as jealousy, deceitfulness, desire for revenge, and ambition or arrogance. The most important themes that are shown throughout this book are revenge, jealousy, and ambition. Revenge is evident from Mark Antony while he tries to avenge his friend Julius Caesar. All the violence represents his revenge as he gets an army to defeat the conspirators. Jealousy is evident from a variety of characters in the book as they are jealous of Julius Caesar s power. Also, ambition is clearly identified in the story because of the acts of Julius Caesar and Cassius. Revenge, jealousy, and ambition all play big impacts in this story. Revenge is a very important trait in Julius Caesar. The character in the book that best represents this trait is Mark Antony. Antony acts to avenge the death of his good friend, Julius Caesar. Antony ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cassius is starting to grow feelings about Julius Caesar as he gets really jealous of him and wants to murder him. In a way Cassius started to feel a little threatened. Cassius says, Ye gods! It doth amaze me; a man of such a feeble temper should, so get the start of the majestic, and bear the palm alone. (Insert page # and quotes). Most of the conspirators except Brutus, want to kill Caesar because the amount of power he holds and they want to take it from him. Even with everyone telling Caesar to not go to the Capulet, he still does not listen. Many have told him bad things will happen to him and even with all the things that have been said to him but he still wants to go. What mean you, Caesar? Think you to walk forth? You shall not stir out of your house to day said Calpurnia. Casca is also another character in the book that is extremely jealous of Caesar s power and what he is able to do. Mere foolery said Casca. • 3. What Role Does Morality Play In A Utopian Society The concept of utopia is one which has many differing connotations and is therefore also one which cannot be confined to one interpretation alone. The term is commonly used to represent a community or society that, in theory, possesses highly desirable or near perfect qualities; however, these encompassing ideals, which arguably place emphasis on egalitarian principles of equality, are implemented in a number of ways and are subsequently based on varying ideologies, thus insisting on varying views of morality. The word itself, which was first coined by Sir Thomas More in the early sixteenth century and used to describe a fictional island society in the Atlantic Ocean, was taken from the Greek οὐ ( not ) and τόπος ( place ), literally translating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The task at hand is to establish the perception of a utopic past, and therefore it is with regard to these two contrasting notions of utopia that I will be considering the ways in which both William Blake s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell and Algernon Charles Swinburne s Hermaphroditus seek to expose and challenge the mechanisms of traditional views regarding spiritualism and the physical form, as well as critiquing the mode of normative sexuality and representations of the body. Another important concept to consider alongside this is that of dystopia, which is characterized by dehumanization, totalitarian governments, and all matters associated with a cataclysmic decline in society. Dystopic societies are usually set in the future and provide an antonymic, frightening opposition to the general concept of utopia. Rather than portraying an idyllic state of civilisation which promises an exit from the cycle of life and death, the term dystopia is used to draw attention to real world issues which if unaddressed could potentially lead to such a dystopia like ... • 4. Analysis Of The Movie The Film I was not planning on reviewing this before it aired, but after screening it, I was so utterly impressed with this movie seriously, it is one of the best Hallmark films I have seen in a long time. And I don t say that glibly by any means. I know I am known for my positive reviews, but this one goes far beyond that. I never once had to remind myself to concentrate on the positive aspects of the film. The acting, the story, and the message were one of the finest Hallmark has featured in some time. Not to mention, it was gentle, amusing, and genuinely enjoyable family viewing. At the beginning of the film, we are introduced to Maya and Addison as played by Rachael and Hannah respectively. To be honest, Rachael was new to me I am far behind on television films from the past. I am playing proverbial catch up right now. Hannah was a returning favorite from both October Kiss and even My Sweet Adrina. Both actresses were enchanting, and I could sympathize with single mother Maya dropping off her techie daughter at summer camp. I think many parents will understand the dilemma. What? No cell phones at camp? Rachael infused Maya s character with precisely the right kind of motherly intuition and skills (well, she is a mother in real life, and I would suppose that is advantageious in this situation). And Hannah characterizes Addison just as one would expect. Definitely a wonderful relationship between the two actresses to play such a convincing mother daughter relationship on ... • 5. Modernism And Postmodernism Modernism is very troublesome to define with clarity because of the fact that the term revolves around various genres of movements be it artistic or philosophical. Nonetheless, there are some primary beliefs of the Modernist genres that appeal in someway or the other to the various movements and also the writers. Modernism in general can broadly be described as the deviation from the ancient and classic manner . (Johnson, J., The New Royal and Universal English Dictionary, Millard, 1763). It is the radical movement away from the past in search of new styles of expression. It refers to a reforming movement away from the traditional forms in various fields like architecture, art, music, and literature during the late 19th century and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1997.) As post modernism was a direct reaction to modernism, the two along with their respective theorists often criticize each other and often justify their views in various debates and discourses. Habermas and the Unfinished Project of Modernity is a collection of essays, which show us the discourse between modernism and Post modernism. Jürgen Habermas is a German social theorist who is also a strong defender of modernity. He vigorously counteracts various criticisms made by post modernist theorists on modernism. Many intellectuals in the modern day have become skeptical about the emancipatory potential of modernity but Habermas still believes and continues to insist on the idealistic utopian potential of modernity as the child of enlightenment . As modernism take has influences from democracy and reason, Habermas sees it as an unfinished project. By this Habermas is trying to state that there is still so much to be done in the domain of modernism before contemplating a move to the post modern world. Marx influenced Habermas as he had an association with the Frankfurt School of social thought, but nonetheless believed that Marx s views needed to be thoroughly changed in order to make them genuinely contemporary and modern. Considering this, Habermas came up with two important theories namely The Theory of Communication, and The Theory of Rationalization of System and Life world. • 6. Tevye s Fiddler On The Roof The definition of a fiddler is as follows: a person who plays the violin, especially one who plays folk music. However, in the play Fiddler on the Roof , the word fiddler has so much more meaning. It means tradition, balance, and it is also a representation of the people of Anatevka. The fiddler in the play shows up fairly often. And every time it adds meaning to the play. At the very beginning, Tevye tells us that the fiddler is a representation of the people of Anatevka: But in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. (Pg 2) And it is completely true. Throughout the book it is evident that Tevye especially struggles to keep his balance while he tries to keep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Speaking of balance, that s the other thing that the fiddler represents. When Tevye comes back from the bar, and after speaking to the constable (Pg. 54), the fiddler comes into the scene and ...he circles Tevye, and they dance off together. (Pg. 54). In the book, that s all it says. However, in the movie you can see the fiddler beckoning Tevye and they begin to dance off together, but the music slowly begins to spin out of control as the fiddler dances off the stage with Tevye and the next scene begins. This indicates that the story is going to spin out of control. So that is how the fiddler represents balance, because the music spinning out of control represents them losing balance. The music that the fiddler plays represents their balance. Which ties into the first quote I mentioned, where Tevye explains that each person in Anatevka is a fiddler on the roof trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. (Pg 2.) So, what the music sounds like is how balanced they are. If they are beginning to fall off the roof, the music gets more intense because the fiddler is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ashanti women inherits this status when they were born, and they have to follow rules to achieve it. All electric vehicles (EVs) have existed almost as long as gas engine vehicles, offering advantages of refueling with relatively cheap electricity, quieter ride, and simpler mechanisms. They emit no pollutants, require no fossil fuels, and the electricity to power them can be generated from clean sources such as wind and solar in years to come. They can be recharged from 110 or 220 volt outlets at nominal cost and do not require oil changes, tune ups or emissions inspections. The shift to electric powered cars is expected to cause sales of gasoline and diesel powered cars to begin to decline about 2020. EVs remain limited by range on a single battery charge and time required for recharge. However, significant advances in batteries and capacitors and the emergence of home and public charging and exchange stations are making EVs more practical. Human s Helpful Nature Can Sometimes Do More Harm Than Good Humans prove to be extremely influential, whether it is answering a question in an interview, or recollecting every detail about a crime, their answers can be impacted by the actions of the interviewer. Human s helpful nature can sometimes do more harm than good. Often in times a witness trying to be more helpful by recollecting things they do not remember can have dire consequences, such as a conviction of the wrong person. During the experiment conducted by Elizabeth Loftus, many people were asked about details about a crime committed, each question dictated a different answer depending on two things; how the question is asked, and who asked the question (Eyewitness testimony: Psychological aspects, 2009). There are many positive uses for open ended, as well as closed ended questions, both have their place at specific moments in an interview. Open ended questions can be extremely useful to get a substantial amount of information, but they are not always the best ways to ask specific questions. Closed ended questions can allow an interviewer to control the interview more easily. Interviewers can control an interview in many ways, most of these controls are positive aspects to an interview; one thing an interviewer should not control however, is the answers being given. While reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is that love holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that this play is about immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what real love is. Their demised stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from rejection. Stupidity, naivety, stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to describe Romeo Montague. Now, these traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy ever which lead him and his supposed love to their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame for their demise because the traits Romeo has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty petty for older people, which is why it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have waited to even commence their relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their demise may have been avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same feelings that he expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there was Rosaline, another Capulet. Everyone who resides in Winoc knows that children are the future of their society. Consequently, rituals surrounding fertility like the fertility dance are taken seriously. Rain dances involve people screeching, dancing, and reciting Seasonism doctrine, in the hope of being able to receive enough rainfall to drink water, grow crops, clean their homes, and do work. The topics regarding Bear Stearns, the Lehman Brothers and their collapse, and the huge bailout made in results to the market crash. There were great points being made on the mistakes Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke did not view from their perspective, which in turns were the problems that made up the crash. It was not until 2007 when foreclosures occurred more and became prominent, especially since the last market crash during the Great Depression. As Gretchen Morgenson of the New York Times discusses, Bear Stearns was known for his great plays with mortgages on Wall Street. People who believed Stearns would pull the right decisions became scared as the values of their assets were decreasing. This created a necessitated attitude towards money since their was money being borrowed fighting against the collaterals, in turns the assets. When the assets started to decline, you need to start paying back money to those you have borrowed from. • 28. Dodge Charger Masculinity The viral Dodge Charger Man s Last Stand (2010) commercial illustrates the loss of masculinity. It aims to reassert a man s right to control and domination in society through material consumption with blatant sexist messages. Additionally, it highlights cultural, economic and social structures as the root cause of the loss of masculinity. The commercial presents close ups of ethnically diverse men, positioned in the bedroom, the kitchen and the living room. Each of the males is motionless while a narrator criticizes the day to day activities that males undertake. For example, the narrator says, I will walk the dog at 6.30 AM (Dodge Charger, 2010, 0:01). The most basic responsibilities, cleaning up after oneself, are offered as arbitrary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the closing scene, the man in the fitted suit utters with anger, I will carry your lip balm (Dodge Charger, 2010, 0:34). Notably, in this scene, the viewer can sense the rage through the raised eyebrow and the intensity of the eyes. This is a symbol that Goffman associates to male aggression and power (Jhally, 2009). The men are presenting themselves as expected of them society. Hence, the commercial is illustrating what Goffman calls commercial realism (Jhally, 2009). Since the viewer tries to resist the advertisements, this commercial is quick and effective, and thus uses codes of gender display because they are familiar to us all (Jhally, 2009). Evidently, the commercial aims at depicting men as metrosexual or rather intruded by the everyday activities to reinforce the features of masculinity: active, aware of the world and in charge of their surroundings. This point echoes Sean Nixon s genealogy of the development (1996) of how the representational practice of masculinity is derived from fashion (metrosexual imagery) and advertising (masculine features) (Gill, forthcoming, para 8). Additionally, this is furthered by Gill s reflection on Foucault s ideas on all identities are socially constructed and non essential (forthcoming, para 8). On that condition, the men must engage with the dominant masculine identities that are portrayed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Nursing Position Statement Examples A position statement from the American Nurses Association (ANA) under Ethics and Human rights which I find interesting pertains the ANA s policy on Nursing Care and Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) and Allow Natural Death (AND) Decisions. I consider myself a baby nurse with only four years of experience. My nursing career to date has been in the medical intensive care area in my hospital. The hospital I work for has three different ICU s. The unit I work for specifically deals with the sickest of the sick we care for everything except traumas, strokes, and open hearts. Most of our patients have multiple comorbidities, terminal illnesses, and are noncompliant. In my short tenure I have had many DNR conversations with patients and family members. I cannot stress enough the importance of communication with both the patient and family members during this critical time. We as nurses have to remember, we our patients advocates and if and when they can no longer make decisions for themselves we must be their voices and help to see their wishes are met. A study by White, Engelberg, Wenrich, Lo, and Randall (2007) was designed to discover the content of physicians prognostic reports to family members of ICU patients. Results indicated families with low literacy rates received less information about potential treatment outcomes and thus may have been more likely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I woke up to the smells of crispy bacon sizzling on the stove top and the scents of scrambled eggs and golden crisp potatoes on the way into transforming into hash browns. I woke up slowly, stretching my arms above my head, breathing in all the delicious scents. I walked out into the hallway through the twists and turns and arrived in the kitchen. My mother was finishing up with the last scrambled egg and then turned to face me. Oh, I have something for you, my mother announced, turning away from the stove. • 32. Secret Sorrow Analysis Do you have a favourite genre for stories? Stories come in all sorts of genres and themes. They attract different types of audiences because they make connections with some readers. For example, A Secret Sorrow is more Fantasy, and A Sorrowful Woman is more realistic. Audiences like me enjoy fantasy stories since we have an interest in the love connection to the characters. I prefer A Secret Sorrow because of fantasy, relatability, and love. In a secret sorrow, Kai and Faye show an example of a fantasy story. His eyes held her locked in unrelenting demand Why should I be disappointed? (Page 33, Paragraph 52) Kai presents like a prince that cares for Faye because these actions are not seen often in the real world. Most males do not act like him. They are rougher and not understanding. They do not know how to respond like Kai. Kai responds in a way that makes Faye feel special and wanted. Kai in a way tells Faye that she is wonderful and he will only love her. This novel is written for the female audience, which is why Kai is able to speak the way he speaks. A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation can hint at. Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. In Faulkner s story, Miss Emily leaves her house very seldom as if the surrounding world makes her insecure and unconfident, while a disgusting stink of decay and frustration seems to start coming from the building she has been occupying for so many years. ... The film then goes where the Nazi leaders are introduced as they give speeches. The film flashes between events such as, a ceremony, parade, and where Hitler gives his first speech. It ends with Hitler sharing past experiences of troops and blesses the troops for their loyalty. Hitler then gives his closing speech and a celebration begins.
