Swot Analysis Of Texas Roadhouse
The first Texas Roadhouse began on February 17, 1993, in Clarksville, Indiana by Kent Taylor, whose
goal was to own more than a family restaurant or steakhouse, but to own, a place where everyone
could come together share a great meal with great fun for a great price (Stokes). They are known for
their legendary food such as hand cut steaks, fall off the bone ribs, made from scratch sides, and fresh
baked bread (Our Story). They strive to make hearty meals that stand out by handcrafting everything
they serve except for the T bone steak and by giving larger portions so you get more food for your
dollar (Stokes). Kent s mission also includes having legendary service due to the low ratio of tables
per server and legendary fun, which may consist of the servers singing happy birthday to a customer
or periodically line dancing not all locations have line dancers to the jukebox and televisions playing.
Their future strategy is to continue their legendary quality and service along with moderate growth as
they are set for opening new locations in 2018, while keeping their 2016 Voted #1 Steak by Nation s
Restaurant News Consumer Picks for this 2017 year (Stokes).
Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats
Strengths
Let discover some of the strengths that Texas Roadhouse has been instilling in its locations, with the
first being the establishment s atmosphere which seems to be on the right track with their jukebox

Charcoal And Paper Filter Case Study
Both the charcoal and paper filter cigarettes were smoked through a hookah to represent the lungs of a
mammal. The results showed that the cilia beat fastest with the control, slightly slower with the
charcoal filter and the paper filter was least effective. In figure one it shows that the control group of
seawater produced the greatest average number of cilia beats with 326.5. When the mollusc gill was
immersed in the charcoal filter extract the cilia beats per minute decreased to 251.3. Lastly the average
number of cilia beats for the paper filter extract was 232. Figure 1 shows a decreasing trend of cilia
beats per minute when the gill was immersed in an increasingly more polluted solution. The vertical

Critical and Creative Thinking Questions

3. How do you think the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for occasional catastrophic events
such as meteorite impacts, huge volcanic eruptions, or great earthquakes?
The principle of uniformitarianism states the processes occurring on Earth today are very similar in
manner as those throughout much of geologic times. In other words the present is the key to the past.
(Murck, B. W., Skinner, B. J., amp; Mackenzie, D. (2010)). When looking at past geological events
and occurrences that happened in the past with additions of new testing and technology they can
predict when and if volcanic eruptions may occur, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. How old are the rock formations in the area where you live and attend college or university? How
can you find out the answer to this question?
I live and attend college in the Valley of the Sun. Many of the rock formations here are extremely old
dating back nearly 2 billion years during a time period geologists called the Precambrian Period
(GeoHistory). Information to answer this question can be found in news articles, biology journals,
historical websites, and government and educational readings as well.
4. Choose one of the geologic periods or epochs listed in Figure 3.8 and find out all you can about it:
How are rocks from that period identified? What are its most characteristic fossils? Where are the best
samples of rocks from your chosen period found?
Rocks formed during the cretaceous period are identifiable in more ways than one would think. The
cretaceous period occurred at the end of the Mesozoic Era. Rocks such as limestone, basaltic, clays,
salts, gypsum, sandstone, conglomerates, and shale s were found during this time period (Cretaceous
Period). Sedimentary rocks hold many fossils of the predominant organisms to inhabit the planet Earth
dinosaurs. Many of the rocks can be identified by the variation in their lithological character and
thickness of their sequences, or by the fossils that are discovered in them. Some of the best samples of
rocks from this time period can be found right here in Arizona at the

Health Risks of Tobacco Use Today Essay
Tobacco Use
Tobacco is a tall plant with wide leaves. The leaves are dried out and grinded up into little shreds and
rolled up in paper making cigarettes. However, while cigarette companies are creating their product,
they add many harmful chemicals, which are generally called tar, and toxic gases are added as well.
Cigarettes are highly addictive because of a natural chemical in tobacco called nicotine. Though
tobacco is harmful, you have to be 18 years old to purchase them from a store. In the past 10 years,
there has been more tobacco laws created. Now, nobody can smoke inside any business, there s a no
tobacco policy at all school systems, and if you re caught smoking underage, there could be some
consequences with the police. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Florida, a study by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Florida
found that the statewide smokefree law, which took effect July 1, 2003, has not hurt sales or
employment in the hotel, restaurant and tourism industries. (Chastain)
More and more health risks caused by tobacco are being discovered every day. Some risks are that you
can get blood clots and aneurysms in the brain, blood clots in the legs, coronary artery disease, high
blood pressure, poor blood supply to the legs, decreased ability to taste and smell, harm to sperm, loss
of sight due to an increased risk of macular degeneration, tooth and gum diseases, wrinkling of the
skin, and many more. (Zieve)
A lot of people stop smoking, but go to the most popular alternative; smokeless tobacco. The people
who switch from cigarettes to smokeless tobacco actually have more risks than just continuing to
smoke. They have increased risk of mouth cancer, gum problems, tooth wear, cavities, and worsening
high blood pressure. Individuals who smoke, assume smokeless tobacco is safer than cigarettes due to
the fact nothing is being inhaled through their lungs, however smokeless tobacco, often known as dip,
has fiberglass in the tiny pieces. While smoking, you re damaging your lungs, while dipping, you re
damaging your mouth. Almost every school system in the United States do not allow tobacco products
on school premises. If a

Electronic Patient Care Records (EPCR)
Not so in healthcare or public safety. Especially during emergencies, if a product fails to work as
intended or to work at all it can mean lost productivity, mountainous legal fees, brain death, or loss of
life, limb and property.
Healthcare IT offers outsized benefits to Emergency Response teams, which depend on speed, ease of
training and use, data accuracy, and interoperability. But the stakes of failure or disruption are so high
that one can say there are few areas of development with a more desperate need for criticism.
And criticism there has been! Few complaints garner broader consensus among Fire and EMS
practitioners than that leading manufacturers of electronic patient care records ( ePCR ) have
abysmally neglected UX and design considerations. Agencies and their patients pay the price through
decreased productivity and even lost records. As Tom Bouthillet, a fire captain, paramedic, and widely

Early Pacific Northwest History Essay
The first three major eras of the Pacific Northwest show some remarkable changes. What begins with
the first people rapidly becomes a barrage of settlers, development and the harvesting of resources.
Each period of time in the PNW brings changes in the people, the geography, and the culture. First is
the Era of the First People. Scientific theories suggest that man first came to the PNW via land bridges
from Russia or perhaps waterways. Some legends suggest a similar nomadic journey following the
migrating animals or the work of spirits or Gods who created companions for a lonely human; usually
a mother figure.
However they came to be, the First People, while split into different geographical and cultural groups,
had many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next era is that of Contact and Trade. Just after declaring independence from British rule, Captain
James Cook began an exploration of the PNW on behalf of the newly formed thirteen colonies of the
United States. Seeking the ever elusive Northwest Passage, Cook instead found himself docked in
Nootka Sound to repair his ships. Here he traded trinkets for local furs, an unexpected valuable
treasure. Cook also made stops in Alaska and wintered in Hawaii. Following Cook, more explorations
from the U.S., France, Britain, Russian, and Spain soon sought to discover the treasures however
unknown they remained and claim them as their own. The changes brought on by these new explorers
were vast ranging from depletion of local population due to unfamiliar European diseases to new
settlements to increased harvesting of resources. There were also treaties made with the native Indians
for land or goods. Still seeking the Northwest Passage, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark began an
expedition to the Oregon coast in 1804. While still failing to find that passage, they do explore more
of the west and PNW than anyone up to that time. Among journals of native plants, native people, and
many maps that opened the way for settlers, Lewis and Clark opened the way for trade with their
revelation that the

Myths Surrounding Joseph Stalin
Myths, surrounding Stalin have played a major role in the construction of Stalin s reputation, in both a
positive and negative way. This essay will look at Plate 1.5.8 in the illustration book, and discuss how
the myth of Stalin presented in this image differs from earlier and later mythic presentations of him.
Joseph Stalin used his intellect, and power, to outmanoeuvre his rivals to become leader of the Soviet
Union. Using carefully planned propaganda including, painting, statues, and a series of cultivated
posters Stalin immortalised and glorified his leadership. These state manufactured images created a
cult of personality around him, subsequently, creating an image of a heroic worshipped figure, who
was associated with every aspect of soviet society. Stalin controlled the media and according to the
historian Moshe Lewin, Stalin single handily, become the system, (Lewin in Pittaway, 2008, p.137.)
The image of Stalin depicted in the poster 1.5.8 () , portrays Stalin as God like, we see a figure, being
looked upon by dancing children who are dressed in uniforms, looking up to Stalin as a strong father
like defender of the nation. (Pittaway, 2008p.142.) This father title gave the impression that Stalin is
trustworthy and caring. In addition, children presented a myth and used as propaganda to represent
goodness, innocence, and the future. Stalin s ideology was that if the children liked him, then he must
be a good leader. Furthermore, the inscription shows

Implementing Universal Healthcare Coverage For All Citizens
The United States is in a period of transition in regards to healthcare. After the passing of the
Affordable Care Act (ACA), more widely known as ObamaCare , in 2010, many dissenting politicians
looked towards Europe to find critiques of the universal systems already in place. The Scandinavian
countries and the United Kingdom were the main targets of allegations that the United States was
attempting to become socialist. However, there is an alternative path to universal healthcare that may
provide a better option for the United States during this time of policy reform. I argue that the United
States should seek to emulate the Netherlands in implementing universal healthcare coverage for all
citizens. Although the United States has attempted to enact healthcare reforms similar to that of the
Netherlands, the current trials in the Supreme Court threaten to undermine these reforms. By
comparing the health statistics of the United States and the Netherlands, I hope to provide a
convincing argument that the reforms enacted by the ACA, which emulate the Dutch reforms, should
improve the healthcare system and overall health of the county.
Background
There are two models of healthcare that fall into the realm of universal healthcare, the Beveridge
Model and the Bismarck Model. In the Beveridge model the government, which is the sole payer of
the system, owns most of the hospitals and clinics (PNHP, 2010). I maintain that the United States is
very unlikely to adopt this model, and

My Philosophy of Classroom Management Essay
A. Theoretical Introduction My philosophy of classroom management is that the management of
elementary classrooms require several things. Among patience, determination and motivation are:
flexibility, careful planning and consistency. A well managed classroom did not get well managed
without a teacher who planned, had a flexible vision and was determined. Any new teacher, who is
asked, will say they want a classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one that
is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers that
classrooms do not come well managed . They have to be made into well managed classrooms. These
experienced teachers would also encourage by saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would include everything from the way desks should be arranged and the order subjects are
taught, to the type of activities given to enhance a lesson. Planning of these things will help classroom
management run much more smoothly. Finally, classroom management requires consistency,
particularly with discipline. Inconsistent teachers who discipline only half of the time it is needed,
send mixed messages to that child as well as to his/her classmates. Teachers need to remember that
following through with what they said helps the child remember that their undesirable behavior will
not be tolerated and that there are consequences for their actions. Consistency is a skill that teachers
should make sure they have when they step into a classroom. Flexibility, careful planning and
consistency are key components, I think, that teachers would find helpful when dealing with
classroom management.
I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have parents,
family and teachers. I believe, like Barbara Coloroso and others, that children are worth all the work
teachers put into their job. Children are not only worth it, but they deserve our very best. Even the
troublesome kid in the class, deserves to get an education and learn how to read so he/she can fill out a
job application when he/she is eighteen. As adults, who have gone through most of our schooling, we
owe

Using Population Control to Achieve Environmental...
Environmental sustainability is when a person, community or area is able to meet the needs of the
present, without compromising the needs of the future. Overconsumption will lead to hardship in the
future, and possibly to the destruction of the planet s finite resources; and if we continue using our
resources as at current rates, which have been estimated to be 4 planets worth of resources, this will be
inevitable. Populations are all the inhabitants of a specific area/country and this population can be
controlled in various methods such as population policies, like the ones in China, Kerala and France;
as well as control via migration by putting on limits.
A population control method that has achieve environmental sustainability is ... Show more content on

On the other hand, Canada has a fairly low population density of just 3.75 people per square kilometer
and with high resources, Canada is environmentally sustainable; some even say that Canada is under
populated and therefore Canada is lenient on in migration.
Similarly to this, Thomas Malthus (1766 1834) had the theory that when population overshoots a
certain point (usually food production) there will be catastrophic effects. The club of Rome, in 1968
published a report called the limit of growth , which stated that population growth will lead to an
increase in food demand and this will eventually lead to resource exhaustion, which is obviously not
environmentally sustainable. To prevent resource exhaustion, the Club of Rome decided that we have
to regulate population growth and reduce fertility and that is what China s One Child Policy, and
Kerala s non enforced population policy was aiming to do. Similarly, the anti Malthusianist Ester
Boserup was a resource optimist, with research based on studies of shifting cultivation. Her hypothesis
was that population growth would result in an increase demand for food and to meet this demand,
improved agriculture productivity would be needed. A higher agricultural productivity means an
increase in methods of agriculture like the slash and burn technique, which often are not
environmentally sustainable at all.
All these population / resource theories

Persuasive Essay For Dog Park
Dog parks are a staple of urban and suburban areas, a place where dog owners can congregate and
converse about the local gossip, or goings on about the neighborhood. Over the past 12 months, a
group of people have come together to propose allocating land for a dog park in Weston and tensions
are running high.
Surprisingly, the dog park has met with a strong degree of controversy. For the better part of the last
year, there have been multiple hearings involving the dog park. The latest meeting occurred just last
week and there is still no resolution about how to proceed.
Maria Proto, a long time Weston resident started the campaign for the dog park. She has a lot to say.
When I spoke to her last week, she said, One of the benefits that a lot of people don t realize when
they don t go to dog parks regularly is that it is not just socialization for your animals. So that s one of
the benefits for your animals get socialized well and well socialized dogs are usually less aggressive
towards other dogs but is also a way for people to go out and meet each other ... I would love to meet
my fellow Westonites who have dogs. I have also been told by some people that it is very hard to meet
people in our town because there aren t many events in Weston to go to.
While many residents are in support of the formation of the park, there are many people on the other
side. Just ask Bill Theriault. He is worried that if Weston puts money to this dog park it will take
money away for many

Laurel Hill Duke Forest Report
Laurel Hill in Duke Forest Report At Laurel Hill Duke Forest there is a large granodiorite cliff
adjacent to a river on one side. This cliff is not smooth and has several parallel fractures instead of one
steep slope. Observations of this cliff were taken in order to gather data and find possible explanations
for why this cliff is where it is located and why the river adjacent to it follows a V shaped path. One
observation was that the range of the strikes and dips of the fractures facing river were all near parallel
ranging from strike of 170 190 degrees and dips ranging from 70 90 degrees. There were other
fractures oriented differently on other sides of the outcrop. Also, the surface of the outcrop was highly
weathered in some parts where the rock type was not distinguishable without using a rock hammer
and had moss growing over it.
On the first side of the outcrop the rock when examined was greenish and had small black grains
indicative of diorite with hornblende giving the green color. The rock was similar to the outcrop
encountered at Hollow rock which also had several fractures parallel although not as many, and that
outcrop was also highly weathered. On the other side of the outcrop, the rock was incredibly different.
This side was not weathered beyond recognition but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, a primary cause of cliff formation is erosion and weathering. Erosion and weathering provides
a plausible explanation for the location and structure of this cliff since erosion and weathering caused
by rain and wind is a common cause of cliff formation, and the observations recorded are consistent as
evidence of erosion and weathering taking place. North Carolina has a rainy climate, so rain could
definitely be a factor in weathering. The rain and wind washes away and erodes softer rocks
separating them from harder rocks forming a sharp crack after the fracture occurs and the rocks

Roman Sculpture
Roman sculpture and painting differed mostly for the fact that the status were used to record major
events and also as realistic portrait. As per the paintings, they were used much as decor and to cover
walls than anything else.
The picture depicts a heroic sculpture of Augustus, a military leader who was the first Emperor of the
Roman Empire, controlling Imperial Rome from 27 BC until his death in AD 14 (Hays, 2008). Roman
sculptures were focused in representing the real form of those being portrayed. However, in the case
of rulers, they attempted to make it strong god like images. Unlike the Greek, which usually tried to

(Shelby, 2016). Roman paintings were used mostly as wall decoration. They were painted directly on
the walls of their rooms, and also on portable panels (Gunther, n.d.). The main idea was to bring their
windowless interior dark rooms to life, totally changing aspects of these living spaces. A variety of
painting art forms is seeing throughout Roman ancient history. Nevertheless, Frescoes was the most
popular approach seeing in the interior design of ancient Roman buildings. Fresco painting, method of
painting water based pigments on freshly applied plaster, usually on wall surfaces. The colours, which
are made by grinding dry powder pigments in pure water, dry and set with the plaster to become a
permanent part of the wall (Britannica, 2014). These fresco paintings represented images from the
Greek scenery, Roman mythology. Although landscapes were mostly used to give the impression of a
window view. As commonly seen within the Romans, such art paintings were equally a privilege of
the wealthy ones. There are four styles seen throughout the history of Roman paintings:
First Style originated in the early 2d century BC. It is an imitation of marble veneering, in which the
painted decoration resembles slabs of colored marble
Second Style began in the early 1st century B, opening up the wall by providing an illusion of
windows and porticos which looked outward onto

The Everglades And Global Warming
The Everglades and Global warming
Richard Hamilton
BSC2010
Broward College The Everglades and Global warming
Introduction
The Everglades mainly found in the United States of America (USA) is a 2 million acre of wetland
ecosystem that stretches from the Central of Florida near to Orlando to the Bay of Florida in the south.
During rainy seasons, Lake Okeechobee experience upsurge in water volumes causing it to discharge
the waters into the river of grass that characterize with shallow slow moving water carrying grass
marshes. The river flows south and passing through different habitats namely wet prairie, cypress
swamps, mangroves, Everglades National Park and lastly into the Florida Bay. The current size of the
Everglades is smaller than it was originally. The decrease in size has majorly been due to human
activities that include diversions of the water for agriculture and flood control as well as urban
development. The Everglades borders the cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. The region is tourist
attraction for birders, boaters, and anglers among others. The Everglades ecosystem supports
agricultural activities besides supplying clean drinking water to the southern Florida residents. Just
like other natural ecosystems like lakes and forests, the Everglades is facing dangers of global
warming. The increasing global temperatures are causing a significant change and destruction of its
iconic natural appearance. Besides the direct effects, global warming is

Reflection Paper On Grandmother
My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was spent
with her, and we grew older together. Since we spent so much time with one another, it was inevitable
for me to always get stuck hearing her stories about the good ol days and the stories that always
started with back in my time . Just as any teenager would do, I tuned these stories out and replied with
a laugh at the end. Looking back now, I wish that I had paid more attention to those stories that
defined my grandmother and made her who she is today. Fortunately, I have been given the
opportunity to go back in time with her and let her reminisce and share those stories once again while
I listen full heartedly. To begin the discussion, I asked her to share her childhood with me and how it
was like growing up in her time. She told me memories she had with her family, her favorite hobbies,
and how different the school system was back then. After we explored every aspect of her life in the
past, we delved into the present to discuss how the aging process has had an impact on her. My
grandmother s attitude towards anything is very optimistic, so I would only expect it to be the same
for this process. She states that she sees growing older as her opportunity to do as much as she can and
whatever she wants. By keeping this positive outlook on life, it allows her to stay mentally and
physically younger. At the age of 65, she experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm, and I presume her
outlook on life changed dramatically because of this. She was given a second chance at life, and she
could not be more thankful for that. Given this opportunity, she does not take anything for granted and
is just lucky to be living. This is what keeps her going. Attitude is everything, she says smiling. On the
other hand, she has seen the other side of the aging process. Her husband is quite a bit older than she
is, and his health has been declining rapidly. By seeing his aging process not be successful and as
optimal as hers, she does have a slightly negative attitude regarding it at times. After suffering a major
heart attack, his cognition and physical abilities have declined, and his attitude is very negative. Due
to this, her

Everyday Use by Alice Walker an Analysis

Everyday Use Analysis
Everyday Use is a compelling story of a mother s conflicting relationships with her two daughters.
Maggie, which the mother feels contains more practical and traditional ways of living life and then
Dee her oldest and most promising daughter, who she feels has broken away from tradition and has
lost a lot of their heritage. At first glance you would see this as the normal mother daughter spat of
maybe the wild child versus the little miss do right. This story holds a much deeper and important
meaning. Everyday use tells the struggle to keep hold of African American culture in the late 1960 s
early 1970 s, when most African Americans were searching for their roots. Many ... Show more

Dee even had to ask Didn t Uncle Buddy whittle it out of a tree you all used to have ? She did not
know herself, and when her boyfriend (or husband) asked who also made the dasher. She couldn t
reply, instead Maggie did stating Aunt Dee s first husband whittled the dash , and that His name was
Henry, but they called him Stash. This is an inherent meaning that with the transformation to the Black
Panther movement our heritage was being forgotten.
The quilts in this story represent African American heritage, they symbolize the pain, tears and
struggle African Americans had to go through in the United States. The sister s conflict over who
should have the quilts shows the struggle between the Black Power movement and the African
American, and who should define its heritage. Dee when asked what she would do with the quilts, she
stated Hang them . Dee also vagrantly argued that her sister Maggie would use put the quilts to
everyday use . See Dee s argument represents the Black Power movement by using the quilts to hang
as a status symbol, to remind her of the social and economic status she has currently obtained. Maggie
s use symbolizes the African American culture to purely remember the heritage not to rank with
statuses or to compare. Alice Walker distinctively allows us to know which argument she feels is

Saint Augustine, one of the best scholars of the early church, portrayed the Trinity as practically
identical to the three sections of an individual: personality, soul, and will. They are three unmistakable
viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose
of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the
Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea
325.
In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father,
in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the
precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making
of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very
God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father.
The Council of Nicea occurred by request of the Roman Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantine. Nicea
was situated in Asia Minor, east of Constantinople. At the Council of Nicea, Emperor Constantine

Argumentative Essay On Japan Before Pearl Harbor
1942 was a very pivotal year the the United States during the War. Pearl Harbor has been attacked a
few months earlier on December 7, 1941, which launched the official start of the U.S entering the war.
The U.S was now faced with a war on two fronts. Roosevelt was being pulled between attacking the
Japanese in the West or to aid his ally England in the East. Although Roosevelt promised Churchill to
aid them as soon as the U.S enters the war, Roosevelt decided to deal with matters in the West first. He
would execute Executive order 9066 (the relocation of Japanese Americans into concentration camps).
Shortly after this order was executed, the coast of California was attacked a few days later. Roosevelt

once American, Japanese student (Iva Toguri A.K.A Tokyo Rose), would go to Japan and criticize the
Americans and try to kill the American moral. Instead Americans would be reminded of what they are

America would suffer the loss at the fall of the Philippines. The battles in the Philippines was led by

Is Photoshop killing the way that society views themselves? Recently there has been a Huge
controversy if whether photoshop is serving any justice and if it should be permitted in magazines.
Even though photoshop may make people look outstandingly attractive, it should not be allowed in
magazines because it lowers the majority of people s self esteem, leads to various types of eating

embalming and anatomical dissection, is a process involving halting decay by pumping formalin into
the body through the arteries. The formalin will kill the bacteria throughout our bodies and chemically
stops the decay of the tissue. Than, using dissection tools, the skin and fatty and connective tissues are
removed to prepare the individual anatomical structures. The second step, removal of body fat and
water, is a process which water and soluble fats are dissolved from the body by placing it into a

the interesting step. During this process, a reactive polymer (silicone rubber) replaces the acetone. The

Pain And Treatment Of Pain
Pain
Pain can be defined in three different forms. The initial and the minimal contact with the damaging
stimuli can be described as the warning for the physiological protective system. This initial stage is
called the nociceptive pain. The warning system demands immediate response and causes immediate
withdrawal from the painful or damaging stimulus (Woolf 1).Second type of pain is called
inflammatory pain, this type of pain activates when the person feels the pain and it is necessary to heal
the injured tissues. Pain tenderness and hypersensitivity reduces future risk for the damage and side by
side promotes recovery (Woolf 1).The third and last type of pain is not protective in fact it is
maladaptive. This is known as pathological pain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Woolf the mind also perceive false signals for pain (Woolf 1). The feeling of pain is
essential for survival. Pain is the first indicator of any tissue injury. Any stimulus that results in injury
or wound leads to a sensation of pain, heat, cold, the pressure, the electric current, the chemical
irritants and even the sudden movements. Unlike other sensory systems, however, the sensory system
to the pain is extremely broad; a painful sensation can be started in any part of the body or the central
nervous system (CNS). Various locations are paired to various kinds of sensations of pain (Fields 10).
Your perception is clearly a rich and multidimensional experience, which varies so much in quality as
in sensory intensity, as well as in their affective motivational characteristics. Without doubt, the
feeling of pain is an important field domain of human experience and perhaps that you have,
continuously and with more success, eluded numerous attempts at conceptualization consistent
quantification, or even systematic documentation, for generations of specialists of different areas of
knowledge. Its complexity and multidimensional nature, which are evident even in the elementary
analysis of the various types of pain, have virtually blocked the development of an adequate definition
of pain that is the more important, hampered the construction of a General theory of the pain, as well

The Theme Of Archetypal Images In Yeats The Wild Swans At...
This paper seeks to address those archetypal images embedded in Yeats The Wild Swans at Coole that
are designed to provide a context through which Yeats illuminates its entire design of the soul s
eternity. By applying archetypal approach, the paper finds that there is a direct correspondence
between the poet s quest for his whole vision of personality and his creative flourish in art. Through
the chief symbol of the poem, swans, the poet discovers his anti self in nature and restores the unity of
his whole being. This task will be accomplished by bringing to light specific affinities between the
theme of the timelessideals of art and the immortal beauty and love of the imperishable swans.

Counterculture Movement Essay
John Lennon of the famous rock band, The Beatles, once said, If everyone demanded peace instead of

counterculture movement in America. After WWII people had much more free time than they did
during the war, and many people decided that they wanted to settle down and start a family. This
caused a large boom in child birth. The children born during this boom are known as baby boomers .
Due to the baby boom between 1945 and 1955, over half the population was under 30 years old (The

Let It Be, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, and many other songs by the British rock band, The
Beatles, helped shape the counterculture movement. Many songs by The Beatles supported the ideas
of rebellion, freedom and drug use. The Beatles were the most popular musical group in the 1960s,
and they were loved and idolized by many. They are still considered to be one of the greatest, if not
the, greatest musical group ever. Although the Beatles were the most popular and influential rock
group of the time, eclectic groups and singers of all different genres helped shape the music scene in
the 1960s, such as: Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Who. Music by all
of these artists reflected the new sexual permissiveness and drug trends (The American Experience 2).
In 1969, a music festival called Woodstock was put together. It lasted for over three days and around
500,000 people came to listen to the music. Artists like the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis
Joplin. The majority of the people that attended the festival were hippies. Hippies wore loose clothing,
for the most part advocated drug use, and promoted peace and love. Woodstock showcased a moment
in time where an entire generation became empowered and realized that they needed to break away
from the status quo. Music had a huge influence on the baby boomer generation and the counterculture
of the 1960s as a whole. A large part of the

Analysis Of Almereyda s Film Adaptation Of Hamlet
Almereyda s film adaptation of Hamlet shows the struggle Hamlet is having with the death of his
father, but also focuses on the internal pain he is experiencing, supporting the country of Denmark.
This portrayal of Hamlet can be seen through the interpretation of Hamlet s mental pain and Physical
appearance. Almereyda s Hamlet shows a new way of viewing Hamlet s character, and a deeper
understanding of the moral changes he is facing during Act 3 scene 1, by being more relatable to a
21st century audience. Shakespeare writes few stage directions, which gives freedom to the director to
show what Hamlet is doing during the act 3 scene 1 soliloquy.
Throughout the scene, Hamlet is wearing black, because he is still in mourning of the loss of his
father, and wearing a stocking cap to be different from the rest of the Denmark organization.
Throughout history, people have used dark colors to show mourning. In Act 1 Scene 2 the queen tells
Hamlet to, cast thy nighted color off, (1.2. 68). This means the Hamlet is wearing black coloring, and
his mother acknowledged it. Another interesting characteristic that Almereyda made prominent in
Hamlet s outfit is Hamlet s stocking cap. The stocking cap represents many character issues in
Hamlet. One of those issues is his mourning. The rest of the Denmark Corporation is seen in suits and
dresses with nothing on their heads, but then we see Hamlet in a blazer and a t shirt, with a stocking
cap in the opening scene. This is evidence the

Breast Reconstruction Surgery
3853: Sociology of the Body
March 10, 2016 Breast Reconstruction Surgery
In this paper, I will examine the origins of breast reconstruction as well as evaluate the overall surgery
amongst women, surgeons and our society today. The treatment of breast cancer has improved
remarkably from the original surgeries that were developed by Halsted (Uroskie Colen, 2004). The
techniques such as Gilles walking flap or the idea behind the reshaping of a breast mound from the
free perforated flap using internal tissue have been advanced and solidified in our current surgical
society (Uroskie et al., 2004). Although breast reconstruction was once strongly criticized it is now

This is when the surgeon uses tissues, flap , such as skin, fat or muscle from another part of your body
in order to reconstruct your breast tissue ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). In the free flap
process the tissue is taken from the original blood vessels and moved onto the chest area whereas the
pedicled flap remains attached to the original blood vessel and moved underneath the skin to the new
placement on the chest ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). The pedicled flap tends to be the
surgery more widely available due to the fact that if you have a free flap surgery then your surgeon
must be trained in microsurgery, which typically involves being able to reattach the tissues blood
vessels to the chest area to sustain blood supply ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). These
kinds of reconstruction surgeries tend to be more sought after because the tissue from different places
in the body last a lifetime whereas the implants most women receive have to be replaced every 10 or
20 years ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). Overall, the effects from each of these surgeries
highly depend on your body type as well as daily activities, physical strength and the range of motion
within the limbs of the body; therefore, what works for one individual does not always work for
another ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction ,

Summary Of Manic Behavior In The Movie Pat
Behavior Throughout the movie Pat appears to have episodes of manic behavior. Manic behavior is
defined in our textbook as, a state of persistently elevated mood, feelings of grandiosity, over
enthusiasm, racing thoughts, rapid speech, and impulsive actions. An example of Pat s manic behavior
is when he doesn t fall asleep and instead stays up all night to read and Ernest Hemingway novel. He
reads the book, in the hopes of winning back Nikki. After reading the book and being displeased with
the ending, he wakes up his parents to rant to them about the book, sometime in the early morning. He
appears to be furious over the ending and continues to yell about how terrible he thought the book

judgement onto him. This scene reveals Pat s lack of clarity. The situation has nothing to do with
Nikki, and it is highly unlikely that she would found out about it. It also shows that Pat still believes in
the delusion, that him and Nikki are going to be able to get back together, despite the fact that she put
a restraining order on him. His thoughts still revolve around the idea of getting back together with her
and how to get back together with her. An example of this, is when he tells Tiffany that he is going to
win back Nikki, by getting in shape, reading the books from Nikki s teaching syllabus, and getting his
old job back, and control his mood swings. This reveals that Pat thinks that he is the reason for Nikki

Role And Importance Of The Ecological Roles Of Marine Mammals
Ecological Roles of Marine Mammals In the recent past, extensive researches have been carried out to
determine the role of marine animals in the ecosystem. According to the World Ocean Assessment
Team (2017), sea mammals feed at various tropic altitudes, ranging from fresh marine ecosystems to
open ocean ecosystems, and they are also present in almost all latitudes. This paper seeks to examine
the ecological roles and significance of the marine creatures in the aquatic ecosystems.
Stabilizing the Ecosystem The first ecological role played by sea mammals is stabilizing the marine
ecosystem. For instance, whales assist in regulating the movement of food by supporting a stable food
chain and making it certain that some various species do not overpopulate the aquatic ecosystem.
Estes, Doak, Springer, and Williams (2009) state that the blue whale can eat approximately 40 million
krill per day and it has a big impact on the stabilization of the aquatic ecosystem. If the marine
mammals become extinct, the food chain would be destabilized, and some animals would
overpopulate the ecosystem. Overpopulation has a detrimental effect on both the aquatic and terrestrial
animals (Young Reales, 2016). This is based on the fact that overpopulation leads to quick depletion
of resources in the aquatic environment. According to Parsons and Bauer (2013), the ecological
exchanges that involve the sea animals and their target kill can be intricate. Based on the organization
of the feeding

  • 2. Swot Analysis Of Texas Roadhouse The first Texas Roadhouse began on February 17, 1993, in Clarksville, Indiana by Kent Taylor, whose goal was to own more than a family restaurant or steakhouse, but to own, a place where everyone could come together share a great meal with great fun for a great price (Stokes). They are known for their legendary food such as hand cut steaks, fall off the bone ribs, made from scratch sides, and fresh baked bread (Our Story). They strive to make hearty meals that stand out by handcrafting everything they serve except for the T bone steak and by giving larger portions so you get more food for your dollar (Stokes). Kent s mission also includes having legendary service due to the low ratio of tables per server and legendary fun, which may consist of the servers singing happy birthday to a customer or periodically line dancing not all locations have line dancers to the jukebox and televisions playing. Their future strategy is to continue their legendary quality and service along with moderate growth as they are set for opening new locations in 2018, while keeping their 2016 Voted #1 Steak by Nation s Restaurant News Consumer Picks for this 2017 year (Stokes). Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats Strengths Let discover some of the strengths that Texas Roadhouse has been instilling in its locations, with the first being the establishment s atmosphere which seems to be on the right track with their jukebox playing country music throughout the restaurant which ties in ... • 3. Charcoal And Paper Filter Case Study Both the charcoal and paper filter cigarettes were smoked through a hookah to represent the lungs of a mammal. The results showed that the cilia beat fastest with the control, slightly slower with the charcoal filter and the paper filter was least effective. In figure one it shows that the control group of seawater produced the greatest average number of cilia beats with 326.5. When the mollusc gill was immersed in the charcoal filter extract the cilia beats per minute decreased to 251.3. Lastly the average number of cilia beats for the paper filter extract was 232. Figure 1 shows a decreasing trend of cilia beats per minute when the gill was immersed in an increasingly more polluted solution. The vertical lines above each bar represent the ... How do you think the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for occasional catastrophic events such as meteorite impacts, huge volcanic eruptions, or great earthquakes? The principle of uniformitarianism states the processes occurring on Earth today are very similar in manner as those throughout much of geologic times. In other words the present is the key to the past. (Murck, B. W., Skinner, B. J., amp; Mackenzie, D. (2010)). When looking at past geological events and occurrences that happened in the past with additions of new testing and technology they can predict when and if volcanic eruptions may occur, ... I live and attend college in the Valley of the Sun. Many of the rock formations here are extremely old dating back nearly 2 billion years during a time period geologists called the Precambrian Period (GeoHistory). Information to answer this question can be found in news articles, biology journals, historical websites, and government and educational readings as well. 4. Choose one of the geologic periods or epochs listed in Figure 3.8 and find out all you can about it: How are rocks from that period identified? What are its most characteristic fossils? Where are the best samples of rocks from your chosen period found? Rocks formed during the cretaceous period are identifiable in more ways than one would think. The cretaceous period occurred at the end of the Mesozoic Era. Rocks such as limestone, basaltic, clays, salts, gypsum, sandstone, conglomerates, and shale s were found during this time period (Cretaceous Period). Sedimentary rocks hold many fossils of the predominant organisms to inhabit the planet Earth dinosaurs. Many of the rocks can be identified by the variation in their lithological character and thickness of their sequences, or by the fossils that are discovered in them. Some of the best samples of rocks from this time period can be found right here in Arizona at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Health Risks of Tobacco Use Today Essay Tobacco Use Tobacco is a tall plant with wide leaves. The leaves are dried out and grinded up into little shreds and rolled up in paper making cigarettes. However, while cigarette companies are creating their product, they add many harmful chemicals, which are generally called tar, and toxic gases are added as well. Cigarettes are highly addictive because of a natural chemical in tobacco called nicotine. Though tobacco is harmful, you have to be 18 years old to purchase them from a store. In the past 10 years, there has been more tobacco laws created. Now, nobody can smoke inside any business, there s a no tobacco policy at all school systems, and if you re caught smoking underage, there could be some consequences with the police. Even ... In Florida, a study by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Florida found that the statewide smokefree law, which took effect July 1, 2003, has not hurt sales or employment in the hotel, restaurant and tourism industries. (Chastain) More and more health risks caused by tobacco are being discovered every day. Some risks are that you can get blood clots and aneurysms in the brain, blood clots in the legs, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, poor blood supply to the legs, decreased ability to taste and smell, harm to sperm, loss of sight due to an increased risk of macular degeneration, tooth and gum diseases, wrinkling of the skin, and many more. (Zieve) A lot of people stop smoking, but go to the most popular alternative; smokeless tobacco. The people who switch from cigarettes to smokeless tobacco actually have more risks than just continuing to smoke. They have increased risk of mouth cancer, gum problems, tooth wear, cavities, and worsening high blood pressure. Individuals who smoke, assume smokeless tobacco is safer than cigarettes due to the fact nothing is being inhaled through their lungs, however smokeless tobacco, often known as dip, has fiberglass in the tiny pieces. While smoking, you re damaging your lungs, while dipping, you re damaging your mouth. Almost every school system in the United States do not allow tobacco products on school premises. If a ... • 6. Electronic Patient Care Records (EPCR) Not so in healthcare or public safety. Especially during emergencies, if a product fails to work as intended or to work at all it can mean lost productivity, mountainous legal fees, brain death, or loss of life, limb and property. Healthcare IT offers outsized benefits to Emergency Response teams, which depend on speed, ease of training and use, data accuracy, and interoperability. But the stakes of failure or disruption are so high that one can say there are few areas of development with a more desperate need for criticism. And criticism there has been! Few complaints garner broader consensus among Fire and EMS practitioners than that leading manufacturers of electronic patient care records ( ePCR ) have abysmally neglected UX and design considerations. Agencies and their patients pay the price through decreased productivity and even lost records. • 7. Early Pacific Northwest History Essay The first three major eras of the Pacific Northwest show some remarkable changes. What begins with the first people rapidly becomes a barrage of settlers, development and the harvesting of resources. Each period of time in the PNW brings changes in the people, the geography, and the culture. First is the Era of the First People. Scientific theories suggest that man first came to the PNW via land bridges from Russia or perhaps waterways. Some legends suggest a similar nomadic journey following the migrating animals or the work of spirits or Gods who created companions for a lonely human; usually a mother figure. However they came to be, the First People, while split into different geographical and cultural groups, had many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next era is that of Contact and Trade. Just after declaring independence from British rule, Captain James Cook began an exploration of the PNW on behalf of the newly formed thirteen colonies of the United States. Seeking the ever elusive Northwest Passage, Cook instead found himself docked in Nootka Sound to repair his ships. Here he traded trinkets for local furs, an unexpected valuable treasure. Cook also made stops in Alaska and wintered in Hawaii. Following Cook, more explorations from the U.S., France, Britain, Russian, and Spain soon sought to discover the treasures however unknown they remained and claim them as their own. The changes brought on by these new explorers were vast ranging from depletion of local population due to unfamiliar European diseases to new settlements to increased harvesting of resources. There were also treaties made with the native Indians for land or goods. Still seeking the Northwest Passage, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark began an expedition to the Oregon coast in 1804. While still failing to find that passage, they do explore more of the west and PNW than anyone up to that time. Among journals of native plants, native people, and many maps that opened the way for settlers, Lewis and Clark opened the way for trade with their revelation that the ... • 9. Myths Surrounding Joseph Stalin Myths, surrounding Stalin have played a major role in the construction of Stalin s reputation, in both a positive and negative way. This essay will look at Plate 1.5.8 in the illustration book, and discuss how the myth of Stalin presented in this image differs from earlier and later mythic presentations of him. Joseph Stalin used his intellect, and power, to outmanoeuvre his rivals to become leader of the Soviet Union. Using carefully planned propaganda including, painting, statues, and a series of cultivated posters Stalin immortalised and glorified his leadership. These state manufactured images created a cult of personality around him, subsequently, creating an image of a heroic worshipped figure, who was associated with every aspect of soviet society. Stalin controlled the media and according to the historian Moshe Lewin, Stalin single handily, become the system, (Lewin in Pittaway, 2008, p.137.) The image of Stalin depicted in the poster 1.5.8 () , portrays Stalin as God like, we see a figure, being looked upon by dancing children who are dressed in uniforms, looking up to Stalin as a strong father like defender of the nation. (Pittaway, 2008p.142.) This father title gave the impression that Stalin is trustworthy and caring. In addition, children presented a myth and used as propaganda to represent goodness, innocence, and the future. Stalin s ideology was that if the children liked him, then he must be a good leader. • 10. Implementing Universal Healthcare Coverage For All Citizens The United States is in a period of transition in regards to healthcare. After the passing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), more widely known as ObamaCare , in 2010, many dissenting politicians looked towards Europe to find critiques of the universal systems already in place. The Scandinavian countries and the United Kingdom were the main targets of allegations that the United States was attempting to become socialist. However, there is an alternative path to universal healthcare that may provide a better option for the United States during this time of policy reform. I argue that the United States should seek to emulate the Netherlands in implementing universal healthcare coverage for all citizens. Although the United States has attempted to enact healthcare reforms similar to that of the Netherlands, the current trials in the Supreme Court threaten to undermine these reforms. By comparing the health statistics of the United States and the Netherlands, I hope to provide a convincing argument that the reforms enacted by the ACA, which emulate the Dutch reforms, should improve the healthcare system and overall health of the county. Background There are two models of healthcare that fall into the realm of universal healthcare, the Beveridge Model and the Bismarck Model. In the Beveridge model the government, which is the sole payer of the system, owns most of the hospitals and clinics (PNHP, 2010). I maintain that the United States is very unlikely to adopt this model, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. My Philosophy of Classroom Management Essay A. Theoretical Introduction My philosophy of classroom management is that the management of elementary classrooms require several things. Among patience, determination and motivation are: flexibility, careful planning and consistency. A well managed classroom did not get well managed without a teacher who planned, had a flexible vision and was determined. Any new teacher, who is asked, will say they want a classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one that is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers that classrooms do not come well managed . They have to be made into well managed classrooms. These experienced teachers would also encourage by saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would include everything from the way desks should be arranged and the order subjects are taught, to the type of activities given to enhance a lesson. Planning of these things will help classroom management run much more smoothly. Finally, classroom management requires consistency, particularly with discipline. Inconsistent teachers who discipline only half of the time it is needed, send mixed messages to that child as well as to his/her classmates. Teachers need to remember that following through with what they said helps the child remember that their undesirable behavior will not be tolerated and that there are consequences for their actions. Consistency is a skill that teachers should make sure they have when they step into a classroom. Flexibility, careful planning and consistency are key components, I think, that teachers would find helpful when dealing with classroom management. I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have parents, family and teachers. I believe, like Barbara Coloroso and others, that children are worth all the work teachers put into their job. Children are not only worth it, but they deserve our very best. Even the troublesome kid in the class, deserves to get an education and learn how to read so he/she can fill out a job application when he/she is eighteen. As adults, who have gone through most of our schooling, we owe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Environmental sustainability is when a person, community or area is able to meet the needs of the present, without compromising the needs of the future. Overconsumption will lead to hardship in the future, and possibly to the destruction of the planet s finite resources; and if we continue using our resources as at current rates, which have been estimated to be 4 planets worth of resources, this will be inevitable. On the other hand, Canada has a fairly low population density of just 3.75 people per square kilometer and with high resources, Canada is environmentally sustainable; some even say that Canada is under populated and therefore Canada is lenient on in migration. Similarly to this, Thomas Malthus (1766 1834) had the theory that when population overshoots a certain point (usually food production) there will be catastrophic effects. The club of Rome, in 1968 published a report called the limit of growth , which stated that population growth will lead to an increase in food demand and this will eventually lead to resource exhaustion, which is obviously not environmentally sustainable. To prevent resource exhaustion, the Club of Rome decided that we have to regulate population growth and reduce fertility and that is what China s One Child Policy, and Kerala s non enforced population policy was aiming to do. Similarly, the anti Malthusianist Ester Boserup was a resource optimist, with research based on studies of shifting cultivation. Her hypothesis was that population growth would result in an increase demand for food and to meet this demand, improved agriculture productivity would be needed. A higher agricultural productivity means an increase in methods of agriculture like the slash and burn technique, which often are not environmentally sustainable at all. Persuasive Essay For Dog Park Dog parks are a staple of urban and suburban areas, a place where dog owners can congregate and converse about the local gossip, or goings on about the neighborhood. Over the past 12 months, a group of people have come together to propose allocating land for a dog park in Weston and tensions are running high. Surprisingly, the dog park has met with a strong degree of controversy. For the better part of the last year, there have been multiple hearings involving the dog park. The latest meeting occurred just last week and there is still no resolution about how to proceed. Maria Proto, a long time Weston resident started the campaign for the dog park. She has a lot to say. This cliff is not smooth and has several parallel fractures instead of one steep slope. Observations of this cliff were taken in order to gather data and find possible explanations for why this cliff is where it is located and why the river adjacent to it follows a V shaped path. One observation was that the range of the strikes and dips of the fractures facing river were all near parallel ranging from strike of 170 190 degrees and dips ranging from 70 90 degrees. There were other fractures oriented differently on other sides of the outcrop. Also, the surface of the outcrop was highly weathered in some parts where the rock type was not distinguishable without using a rock hammer and had moss growing over it. On the first side of the outcrop the rock when examined was greenish and had small black grains indicative of diorite with hornblende giving the green color. • 19. Reflection Paper On Grandmother My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was spent with her, and we grew older together. Since we spent so much time with one another, it was inevitable for me to always get stuck hearing her stories about the good ol days and the stories that always started with back in my time . Just as any teenager would do, I tuned these stories out and replied with a laugh at the end. Looking back now, I wish that I had paid more attention to those stories that defined my grandmother and made her who she is today. Fortunately, I have been given the opportunity to go back in time with her and let her reminisce and share those stories once again while I listen full heartedly. To begin the discussion, I asked her to share her childhood with me and how it was like growing up in her time. She told me memories she had with her family, her favorite hobbies, and how different the school system was back then. After we explored every aspect of her life in the past, we delved into the present to discuss how the aging process has had an impact on her. My grandmother s attitude towards anything is very optimistic, so I would only expect it to be the same for this process. She states that she sees growing older as her opportunity to do as much as she can and whatever she wants. By keeping this positive outlook on life, it allows her to stay mentally and physically younger. At the age of 65, she experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm, and I presume her outlook on life changed dramatically because of this. She was given a second chance at life, and she could not be more thankful for that. Given this opportunity, she does not take anything for granted and is just lucky to be living. This is what keeps her going. Attitude is everything, she says smiling. On the other hand, she has seen the other side of the aging process. Her husband is quite a bit older than she is, and his health has been declining rapidly. By seeing his aging process not be successful and as optimal as hers, she does have a slightly negative attitude regarding it at times. After suffering a major heart attack, his cognition and physical abilities have declined, and his attitude is very negative. Due to this, her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By applying archetypal approach, the paper finds that there is a direct correspondence between the poet s quest for his whole vision of personality and his creative flourish in art. Through the chief symbol of the poem, swans, the poet discovers his anti self in nature and restores the unity of his whole being. This task will be accomplished by bringing to light specific affinities between the theme of the timelessideals of art and the immortal beauty and love of the imperishable swans. • 33. Counterculture Movement Essay John Lennon of the famous rock band, The Beatles, once said, If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there d be peace . This quote essentially defines the 1960s and the counterculture movement in America. After WWII people had much more free time than they did during the war, and many people decided that they wanted to settle down and start a family. This caused a large boom in child birth. The children born during this boom are known as baby boomers . Due to the baby boom between 1945 and 1955, over half the population was under 30 years old (The American Experience 1). During this time in American history, the children of the baby boomer generation started rebelling against the war in Vietnam and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let It Be, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, and many other songs by the British rock band, The Beatles, helped shape the counterculture movement. Many songs by The Beatles supported the ideas of rebellion, freedom and drug use. The Beatles were the most popular musical group in the 1960s, and they were loved and idolized by many. They are still considered to be one of the greatest, if not the, greatest musical group ever. Although the Beatles were the most popular and influential rock group of the time, eclectic groups and singers of all different genres helped shape the music scene in the 1960s, such as: Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Who. Music by all of these artists reflected the new sexual permissiveness and drug trends (The American Experience 2). In 1969, a music festival called Woodstock was put together. It lasted for over three days and around 500,000 people came to listen to the music. Artists like the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. The majority of the people that attended the festival were hippies. Hippies wore loose clothing, for the most part advocated drug use, and promoted peace and love. Woodstock showcased a moment in time where an entire generation became empowered and realized that they needed to break away from the status quo. Music had a huge influence on the baby boomer generation and the counterculture of the 1960s as a whole. A large part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Analysis Of Almereyda s Film Adaptation Of Hamlet Almereyda s film adaptation of Hamlet shows the struggle Hamlet is having with the death of his father, but also focuses on the internal pain he is experiencing, supporting the country of Denmark. This portrayal of Hamlet can be seen through the interpretation of Hamlet s mental pain and Physical appearance. Almereyda s Hamlet shows a new way of viewing Hamlet s character, and a deeper understanding of the moral changes he is facing during Act 3 scene 1, by being more relatable to a 21st century audience. Shakespeare writes few stage directions, which gives freedom to the director to show what Hamlet is doing during the act 3 scene 1 soliloquy. Throughout the scene, Hamlet is wearing black, because he is still in mourning of the loss of his father, and wearing a stocking cap to be different from the rest of the Denmark organization. Throughout history, people have used dark colors to show mourning. In Act 1 Scene 2 the queen tells Hamlet to, cast thy nighted color off, (1.2. 68). This means the Hamlet is wearing black coloring, and his mother acknowledged it. Another interesting characteristic that Almereyda made prominent in Hamlet s outfit is Hamlet s stocking cap. The stocking cap represents many character issues in Hamlet. One of those issues is his mourning. The rest of the Denmark Corporation is seen in suits and dresses with nothing on their heads, but then we see Hamlet in a blazer and a t shirt, with a stocking cap in the opening scene. This is evidence the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Breast Reconstruction Research Paper Kayla Walker Breast Reconstruction Surgery 3853: Sociology of the Body March 10, 2016 Breast Reconstruction Surgery In this paper, I will examine the origins of breast reconstruction as well as evaluate the overall surgery amongst women, surgeons and our society today. The treatment of breast cancer has improved remarkably from the original surgeries that were developed by Halsted (Uroskie Colen, 2004). The techniques such as Gilles walking flap or the idea behind the reshaping of a breast mound from the free perforated flap using internal tissue have been advanced and solidified in our current surgical society (Uroskie et al., 2004). Although breast reconstruction was once strongly criticized it is now seen as something that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is when the surgeon uses tissues, flap , such as skin, fat or muscle from another part of your body in order to reconstruct your breast tissue ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). In the free flap process the tissue is taken from the original blood vessels and moved onto the chest area whereas the pedicled flap remains attached to the original blood vessel and moved underneath the skin to the new placement on the chest ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). The pedicled flap tends to be the surgery more widely available due to the fact that if you have a free flap surgery then your surgeon must be trained in microsurgery, which typically involves being able to reattach the tissues blood vessels to the chest area to sustain blood supply ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). These kinds of reconstruction surgeries tend to be more sought after because the tissue from different places in the body last a lifetime whereas the implants most women receive have to be replaced every 10 or 20 years ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , 2015). Overall, the effects from each of these surgeries highly depend on your body type as well as daily activities, physical strength and the range of motion within the limbs of the body; therefore, what works for one individual does not always work for another ( Autologous or Flap Reconstruction , ... • 36. Summary Of Manic Behavior In The Movie Pat Behavior Throughout the movie Pat appears to have episodes of manic behavior. Manic behavior is defined in our textbook as, a state of persistently elevated mood, feelings of grandiosity, over enthusiasm, racing thoughts, rapid speech, and impulsive actions. An example of Pat s manic behavior is when he doesn t fall asleep and instead stays up all night to read and Ernest Hemingway novel. He reads the book, in the hopes of winning back Nikki. After reading the book and being displeased with the ending, he wakes up his parents to rant to them about the book, sometime in the early morning. He appears to be furious over the ending and continues to yell about how terrible he thought the book was. Pat also has violent outbursts as well. One example is when ... When the cop tells Pat that he is going to write him up, Pat pleds them not to. However, this is not due to Pat s own fear about going to jail, but rather he thinks of Nikki finding out about the incident and passing judgement onto him. This scene reveals Pat s lack of clarity. The situation has nothing to do with Nikki, and it is highly unlikely that she would found out about it. It also shows that Pat still believes in the delusion, that him and Nikki are going to be able to get back together, despite the fact that she put a restraining order on him. His thoughts still revolve around the idea of getting back together with her and how to get back together with her. An example of this, is when he tells Tiffany that he is going to win back Nikki, by getting in shape, reading the books from Nikki s teaching syllabus, and getting his old job back, and control his mood swings. This reveals that Pat thinks that he is the reason for Nikki cheating and it is due to his outer appearance and intellect, that Nikki cheated and left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Role And Importance Of The Ecological Roles Of Marine Mammals Ecological Roles of Marine Mammals In the recent past, extensive researches have been carried out to determine the role of marine animals in the ecosystem. According to the World Ocean Assessment Team (2017), sea mammals feed at various tropic altitudes, ranging from fresh marine ecosystems to open ocean ecosystems, and they are also present in almost all latitudes. This paper seeks to examine the ecological roles and significance of the marine creatures in the aquatic ecosystems. Stabilizing the Ecosystem The first ecological role played by sea mammals is stabilizing the marine ecosystem. For instance, whales assist in regulating the movement of food by supporting a stable food chain and making it certain that some various species do not overpopulate the aquatic ecosystem. Estes, Doak, Springer, and Williams (2009) state that the blue whale can eat approximately 40 million krill per day and it has a big impact on the stabilization of the aquatic ecosystem. If the marine mammals become extinct, the food chain would be destabilized, and some animals would overpopulate the ecosystem. Overpopulation has a detrimental effect on both the aquatic and terrestrial animals (Young Reales, 2016). This is based on the fact that overpopulation leads to quick depletion of resources in the aquatic environment. According to Parsons and Bauer (2013), the ecological exchanges that involve the sea animals and their target kill can be intricate. Based on the organization of the feeding ...
