Carpeting Process Analysis
Refinishing Your Hardwood Floors? Learn How To Hand Refinish The Steps
If you have carpeting throughout your home that you are looking to rip out so you can refinish the
hardwood, chances are that the steps in your home have carpeting on them too. Steps can be one
of the most frustrating parts of the hardwood refinishing process because so much of it needs to be
done by hand. Follow these tips to learn how to refinish the steps on your own.
Preparation
You ll start by removing the old carpeting on the stairs that was previously nailed or glued down.
A pry bar works great for lifting up each area of carpeting, which will give you enough leverage to
rip it out by hand.
It s important that you remove every single nail or patch of glue left behind on the wood,
because it can potentially ruin your sanding equipment later on. Event he tiny staples will need to
be removed with pliers if there is a sharp end still stuck in the hardwood. Glue residue can be
scrubbed away with a commercial glue removal product and a scrub brush. Dry the steps off with a
rag when finished. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Questions On A Texas Court Essay
DISCUSSION
A Texas court will likely find that Adam tortuously interfered with Blake s contract with WP. Under
Texas Law, the elements of tortious interference with an existing contract are: (1) an existing
contract subject to interference, (2) a willful and intentional act of interference with the contract,
(3) that proximately caused the plaintiff s injury, and (4) caused actual damages or loss. Prudential
Ins. Co. of Am. v. Fin. Review Servs., Inc., 29 S.W.3d 74, 77 (Tex. 2000). If the other associate can
prove proximate causation and actual damages, then Blake s tortious interference case will likely
prevail in a Texas court since Blake s contract was an existing contract subject to interference and
that Adam s interference had been willful and intentional.
I. Blake s age does not bar him from entering a contract with WP that is subject to interference
At the time of Adam s interference, Blake likely possessed an existing contract with WP that was
subject to interference. Further, Blake s age has no bearings whatsoever with regards to validity of
his contract with WP. Each of the elements of a valid contract are undisputedly present in Blake s
agreement with WP: an offer, an acceptance in strict compliance with the offer s terms, a meeting of
the minds, consent by both parties, and execution and delivery of the contract with the intent that it
become mutual and binding on both parties. See Stewart Stevenson, LLC v. Galveston Party Boats,

Essay on A Clockwork Orange
I think that A Clockwork Orange is a book worth reading because it is relatable, makes you think,
and is interesting. The author, Anthony Burgess, was born February 25, 1917. At the young age of
two his mother passed away. He was brought up by his aunt and later his stepmother. Even with
such an unstable childhood Burgess continued on to enroll in college and major in English. He had
a passion for music, which he expressed in the main characterof A Clockwork Orange. Burgess
wrote several accomplished symphonies in his day, as well as over fifty books. He was diagnoses
with a brain tumorat about age 40 but well outlived his doctor s expectations continuing his artistic
output until his death from lung cancerat age 76.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He fails to complete the job, wakes up in a hospital, and finds the mental barriers gone and a pity
dream job is handed to him to compensate for the emotional damage.
A Clockwork Orange had a loose theme of the necessity of not only good, but also evil in human
nature. Alex may have been selfish and deviant but his character and the characters like him did
seem to have a strong grasp on the concept that life was for living. Without the ability of choice to
commit evil acts which was an impulse inside of him, his ability to act human was affected. The
freedom of making these choices seems to be what makes us human. Hence without this freedom he
is driven to attempt suicide.
The major theme of the novel was a battle of the greater importance of a safe stable society or
greater importance of free will. The main character had been conditioned to feel ill at the
thought of bad acts, he had not however been conditioned to not wish to commit these acts. After
viewing the presentation of the quot;successful quot; conversion from evil to quot;good, where
rather than fight Alex licked the man s shoe, the prison Chaplin stated, quot;Self interest, the
fear of physical pain drove him to do that grotesque act of self abasement. Its insincerity was clearly
to be seen. He ceases to be a wrongdoer. He ceases also to be a creature capable of moral choice.
So, is it better to be morally right without free will or

Essay about Migration Policy and Domestic Party Politics
There is no one categorical answer to this main question if Europeanization in the field of
Migration Policy is limited because this field is dominated by domestic party politics or not. First
of all we must define how do we understand Europeanization in the field of Migration Policy. It
could be understood slight differently: (i) as an Europeanization in assimilation of rules for regular
and irregular immigrants; (ii) as an Europeanization in external dimension of European Union
migration policy; (iii) as an Europeanization in terms of free movement of working force within
European Union, etc. These cases might have very different national interests within member states.
Member states can easily agree on one point and have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6). The EU member states have certainly been wary of ceding too much of powers up to the EU,
creating a de facto European space of 27 different approaches to migration policy, allowing only for
minimum harmonization (Weinar, 2011, psl. 6 7). That clearly shows that migration is very
sensitive policy and is strongly influenced by political decisions within member states.
The main shortcoming of the European migration policy framework is its ambiguity and dispersed
focus. It addresses the common interest of the EU member states in some fields, while leaving out
those common interests in others (Weinar, 2011, psl. 7). So what makes some fields more attractive
to common interests?
Elspeth Guild states that at the heart of the EU there is and has always been an ambition and duty
to reconfigure the territory of the Member States in order to achieve economic aims (Guild, 2006,
psl. 631). Human rights were not part of the original schema of the EU (Guild, 2006, psl. 632). So
if we assume, that economic aims and not human rights are most important factors, we might argue,
that success in various Migration Policy agreements also depends on economic benefits. Putting this
in a simple terms, we might argue, that member states comply with Migration Policy goals if they
can get economical benefits from it. National states are always

Religious Pluralism Essay
On July 12, 2007, for the first time in American history the Senate session that day was opened by
a prayer; unlike any other prayer, it was given by a Hindu priest. At first sight, it would seem as
though the ideals designed by the framers of the Constitution were alive and well; the pluralization
of the United Statesof America, the land of freedom of religion, and the right to worship without
persecution. However, the Christian right wing religious group Operation Save America entered
the Senate floor and began to heckle Rajan Zed, the Hindu priest, perpetuating that Hinduism is an
abomination , as Hindus do not worship The lord Jesus Christ . This leads us to ask the question:
Is America a land of religious pluralism, or is it a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With 77% of all evangelical leaders holding an unfavorable view of Islam, still 93% of evangelicals
agree that it is important to Welcome Muslims into the American community (Cimino, R, pg. 2).
This survey reveals that the problem with the Islam faith is not racial: The Muslim people are
welcomed, the Islam faith is not. The violence that has been perpetrated against America, whether
executed or planned, has brought to fruition religious persecution not seen since the persecution of
the Jews in W.W.II. This trust no Arab attitude has brought shame to the Constitutional intentions of
freedom of religion intended by our forefathers, and has set religious tolerance back 200 years.
Looking at media representation of Muslim Americans prior to 9 11, it shows religious diversity in
America, depicting Muslim America as just another religious community seeking to advance and
protect their interests, not unlike other Americans. After 9 11 the media portrayed representations
of threat and fear, creating boundaries between Muslims and other Americans. Such depiction
transforms the identity of Muslims and American religious pluralism (Byng, M. pg. 3). The land of
pluralism has become a land of persecution for Muslim Americans. I cannot help but wonder how
the Constitutional framers would interpret the problems of today: The holy war we face, the

Antonio Da Correggio Holy Night Nato Essay
Artwork is often used to represent and symbolise the Gospel and important figures to Christianity.
One of the artworks chosen is Holy Night Nativity Scene by Antonio da Correggio created in
1530. This artwork focuses on the birth of Jesus and lays the scene of which he enters the world.
The other one is the Annunciation by created in 2003. This artwork focuses on the moment Gabriel
tells Marythat she is pregnant with Jesus.
The Holy Night Nativity Scene relates directly to the verse And she gave birth to her firstborn
son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place
for them in the inn (Luke 2:7). It is symbolic of Jesus birth and represents that although his birth

Jesus is the brightest figure in the painting as this represent that he is the light of the world. It
symbolises that he will guide others just as the star of bethlehem guided the three wise men. The
other figures in the painting have a slight glow to them which symbolises that Jesus has touched
them with his spirit as he will do the rest of his life. They are all looking down at him especially
Mary whose sole focus is directly on Jesus. This highlights her nurturing nature and the love she
has for him and signifies just how big a part she plays in Jesus life and teachings. The allows the
audience to understand and appreciate the deep connection between Jesus and Mary. As Mary
looks at Jesus, Joseph is looking at the two of them adoringly. Although Jesus isn t his biological
child, it can be seen that Joseph is going to love and support him. This is a valuable lesson for
Christian as it reminds them to love anyone and everyone. This is one of the main aspects Jesus
taught throughout his life as he believed it to be of utmost importance.

Home And School Are Places Of Social Processes
Both home and school are places of social processes. Montessori s first school located in Rome
included family housing in a residential building in Rome assisting a better learning
environment against those who opposed. The Child s House, it was named provided the family
with comfort and assurance (Cooney,2011). Almost as if it was a at home daycare facility the
parents had a peace of mind while they left for work knowing their children were well taken care
of as well as getting an education, that otherwise would not have been given elsewhere at this
point in time. Another benefit of the Child s House program was that it was free of charge, to the

It was in her best efforts along with the beliefs that she came up with key components and stages

Montessori determined that being human meant you had to have a family and it is within that
family that socialization and primary characteristics of young children should take place as soon as
they are out of the womb. It was then she came up with key components in successfully raising the
child with special need or children in general.
The Montessori Method involved five key components that she believed every educator and adult

respect for the child, the absorbent mind, sensitive periods, the prepared environment, and auto

Hester Street American Dream Essay
Throughout U.S. history, immigrants have struggled to find a balance between the adoption of
American culture and the preservation of their native cultures. While many immigrants near the
turn of the 20th century desired full assimilation into American culture, like Jake from Joan Micklin
Silver s 1975 film Hester Street, many immigrants today maintain strong ties to their home
countries and native cultures. But, considering the recent increase in political and social discussion
surrounding the topic of immigration, the struggle to balance American and native customs has
intensified for many immigrants. While some tightly cling to their ethnic identities as a reminder
of their roots, others fear xenophobic sentiments or simply desire a new culture, more quickly
adopting an Americanized lifestyle. Whether open to assimilation or not, many immigrants, like
Jake, hope to attain the American Dream . A vision shared by millions of Americans, both
immigrants and native born, the American Dream represents the ability to work hard and achieve
success for oneself, regardless of status, wealth, race, or creed. This search for success in America
has happened for hundreds of years, and is literally the reason the nation was established. Overall,
there are countless ways for immigrants to find a balance in adopting American cultureand
achieving the American Dream, topics not only heavily dealt with in Hester Street, but also
relevant to the immigrants of today.

Importance Of Expressive Communication In The Jewish Culture
Expressive communication is a common trend among Jews, as well as being very verbal in how
and what they are feeling. Humor is also a frequent method of communication among the Jewish
people. Humor will be used in a way that makes fun of themselves. Though they can make jokes
toward themselves and other Jews, jokes from non Jews about Jews are not usually accepted or
appreciated (Schwartz, 2004). Elderly Jews towards the end of their life can come across as
chronic complainers. It is just important to remember that expressiveness about how and what
they are feeling is part of the culture. It may take some time a and patience to determine and
assess pain levels due to their outspoken complaints (Schwartz, 2004). Space within the Jewish
Culture Some Jews are more sensitive to space than other types. Orthodox Jews are very
conscientious when it comes to personal space, especially when dealing with the opposite sex.
Orthodox Jews, both men and women, will often not shake the hand of the opposite sex. This
comes from the Code of Jewish Law, forbidding a man to smell the scent of a strange women, to
look upon her hair, or even to look at her pinky finger (Schwartz, 2004). Older Jewish members
and those who are nearing the end stages of life, will often want to have family and other Jews
close by. For example, if there are multiple Jews in a nursing home, they would prefer to live in
close proximity to each other just because of that Jewish connection and understanding of one

Asynchronous Transfer Mode for Transmitting Information Essay
ATM is called Asynchronous Transfer Mode. ATM is a networking technology which transmits
information in the form fixed cells. The main vision behind designing ATM was integration of
services and performance requirements of both telephony and data networking which was
shortly called Broadband Integrated Service Vision (B ISDN). This cell relay protocol was
designed by ATM forum and was universally adopted by ITU T. Usually the size of the fixed cells
is about 53 bytes with 5 bytes for header and 48 bytes payload. When compared to the cell sizes
used in the previous technologies, the size of an ATM is small. The smaller size of the ATM cells
gives us a major advantage. ATM enables us to transmit video, audio and data over the same

This should be done without any degradation in the performance or without requiring any
replacement. 3.The design must be implemented in a less expensive method. In case the ATM
becomes the backbone of the international communications the cost of implementing it should
not be a major barrier. 4.The proposed system must ensure accurate and predictable delivery.
This is possible only if ATM is a Connection Oriented system. 5.The major objective of ATM was
to move most of the functionalities to the hardware side and have comparatively less
functionalities in the software. This will ensure higher speed in the delivery of packets. It is
clear from the above points that the major goal of ATM was to ensure guaranteed Quality of
Service (QoS). To ensure this various service classes were defined by the ATM forum like
Constant Bit Rate, Real time Variable Bit Rate, Non Real time Variable Bit Rate, Unspecified
Bit Rate, Available Bit Rate. ARCHITECTURE OF ATM NETWORKS The ATM is a cell

backbone to the whole architecture of ATM. The first is Network to Network interface (NNI) and
the other is the User to Network interface (UNI). The User to Network interface is used to connect
the User access devices or the end points to the switches, while the Network to Network interface is

extreme change was that there was no Dove, Isannah, or Pumpkin in the movie. Dove was a very

You start off by making the choux pastry; mixing milk, water, salt, and butter. Then you add flour
and stir until it all comes together. Transfer to bowl and stir in eggs until completely they are
completely absorbed by the dough. Pipe the mixture onto a pan making small mounds that will bake
and become the cream puffs that will go on top of the base. Next make the cake base and cut into

The Warren Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone, killed President
Kennedy. Do you agree?
Contrary to the Warren Commission s findings, Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone, did not kill
President John F. Kennedy. There are several crucial areas of evidence, which prove Lee Harvey
Oswald did not kill the president. Numerous eyewitness accounts show that the shots came from the
direction of the grassy knoll (Jack Hill), and not from the Texas School Book Depositary. The

Kennedy and after the first shot was fired I was splattered with blood and brain. This again
proves that the shots came from the grassy knoll. Many witnesses who were on the triple

also reported that they smelt gunpowder on or near the grassy knoll. This proves that the shots
came from the grassy knoll.
A close analysis of the Zapruder film, which shows the entire assassination, proves that the shots
came from the grassy knoll. The knoll, at the time of the fatal headshot, was to the right and
slightly in front of the limousine. The Zapruder film shows the presidents head snap back and to

Similarities Between Halloween And Samhain
When Was the First Halloween?
There has never been a time in modern civilization that we haven t had a Halloween celebration.
For the past 2,000 years, various cultures around the world have participated in observing the
holiday. Different cultures introduce their own traditions and carry out preexisting traditions. The
cycle has been continuous for a couple thousand years, but where did it all come from?
When Was the First Halloween?
The first documented instance of Halloween was found in Irish and Scottish historical documents
that placed the first mentioning of Halloween type celebrations about 2,000 years ago. This
celebration was the Celtic holiday of Samhain. Samhain was a very important holiday for the Celtic
people. These people were entirely dependent on the land for survival. This dependency
demonstrated itself with the number of nature gods that the Celtic people worshipped. During

While some of the traditions have changed over the years, the same fundamental traditions are still
observed in modern times. Historians backed up their claims because of the similarities between
Halloween and Samhain.
Costumes: Costumes are a very specific Halloween tradition, but it was the participants of Samhain
that wore costumes first. The Celts believed that spirits could come back to the land of the living
during Samhain, and they would dress like supernatural creatures in order to blend in. They
believed that dressing up kept them safe because they could fool the ghost into thinking that they

Little Red Riding Hood Research Paper
Following the tragic death of Mr. Humpty Dumpty on the 18th of January, Detective Hood dug
deeper into the case. Formerly known as Little Red Riding Hood, Detective Hood has by far lost
her old nickname. Standing an impressive 6 8 and weighing in at nearly 240 pounds, she is a
force to be reckoned with. However, Mr. Humpty Dumpty was loved by many, including all the
kings horses and all the kings men. Though he had been hardened by years in the sun and had an
extremely tough shell, he was still merely soft boiled on the inside. It was a normal day in the
kingdom of Storybrook. Humpty was bored and decided to go for a walk. His favorite place to go
was The Wall, which was pub on the outside of town. A few of his friends were there, including

Irony In The Most Dangerous Game
Irony and imagery are both important writing tools, used to guide the reader through the story while
keeping them engaged and thinking about the story complexly. When used together successfully,
the reader can walk away with something to think about, a new perspective on something they
might have thought different about before. When considering this, I would argue that The Most
Dangerous Game, is overall a better story than The Necklace .
In both stories, irony is used to to teach a lesson. In Richard Cowell s The Most Dangerous Game,
he tells a story of a hunter who is put into the place of the hunted. At the beginning of the story the
protagonist, Reinsford, boasts about the extravagant nature of hunting for sport. The best sport in
the world, (Cowell, 1924, p. 54) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the end Reinsford feels sympathy for the hunted, being able to relate to the animals directly.
The irony used in this story is easily relatable to the reader, everyone at one point in time has had
some sort of drastic change in opinion. Whether it is about something as relative as the quality of
a story, or something considerably more important, like what makes something s life important,
we have all had that feeling. On the other hand, we have The Necklace, by Guy De Maupassant.
Maupassant s use of irony is less relatable and more comedic. He does this very well, oh my poor
Mathilde, but mine was only paste! (Maupassant, 1884, p. 208) A punch line of sorts, a funny
ending to a unfunny story. It is unexpected, and gets the reader to remember what has happened
earlier in the story, but when looking for an overarching theme, the humor could

How Important Is The Outback In Australia
Introduction: The subject i m suppose to talk about today is the outback in australia.
OUTBACK The Outback is the place of australia which is Remote. I would not say that the
outback is a defined area, the Outback is only a term used to refer to locations that are far away
from the big cities in australia. The Rangelands is the fertile area and have been traditionally
used for sheep or cattle farming. The main economic activities is argiculture, tourism and mining.
Medicine in the outback Because of the big expanses and remoteness in the outback is a smart
service, a tiny little airplane called the flying doctor was created in 1928. The main Idea of the
service is to provide medical care for those people who cannot reach hospitals

Society is Responsible for the Death of Romeo and Juliet...
Imagine yourself, dear reader, transported to Shakespearian Verona, a bustling, peaceful city
(aside from the occasional death or two), with its obligatory social classes going about agreeably
(aside from the occasional brawl or two), and all people happy and successful (aside from the
occasional poor wretch or two). The Verona in which Shakespeare s tragedy Romeo and Juliet
takes place in is made sinister by the deadly consequences than ensue from its strict, unbending
society. Romeo and Juliet paints a tale about two young lovers, Romeo Montagueand Juliet Capulet,
whose attempts to be together are cruelly thwarted by society. Society s fixation on honor and
disgrace, poverty creating laws, and austere social roles all have crucial... Show more content on

At any infraction of honor, men are pushed to duel to the death, or face the dreaded charge of
cowardliness. Indeed, Tybalt, bound by honor to his family, is ready to slay Romeo even at Romeo
s tiny misdemeanor of attending the Capulet party: What, dares the slave / Come hither covered
with an antic face / To fleer and scorn at our solemnity? / Now, by the stock and honor of my kin
/ To strike him dead I hold it not a sin. (1. 5. 63 67) Soon after this scene, Tybalt duels with
Mercutio in place of Romeo, and Mercutio falls dead. Obligated to avenge his friend s death,
Romeo fights with Tybalt, and strikes him dead. This results in Romeo s banishment, which, of
course, leads to the series of hasty plans that end in his and Juliet s deaths. Another reason that
society is responsible for Romeo and Juliet s deaths lies in its unjust, poverty creating laws.
When Romeo believes Juliet dead (she is actually asleep), he kills himself with poison, which in
turn leads to Juliet s death when she sees him dead. However, In Mantua, the Italian city to
which Romeo is banished, sale of poison is illegal. So, dear reader, do tell where he could possibly
buy poison in a city whose laws prevent potion makers from making money. Romeo had the same
answer, recalling a desperately poor apothecary about whom he told himself: An if a man did need

DISCUSSION
HISTORICAL FIRE REGIME
LIGHTNING
Before Aboriginal and European settlement, lightning was the primary natural source of fire,
especially in tropical parts of Australia (Kohen, 1996). These lightning caused bushfires have
drastically shaped the landscape and its vegetation. Plants have developed different adaptations to
tolerate these fires and in turn contributed to the natural diversity in the area. The Mountain Ash
(Eucalyptus regnans) trees growing in forests east of Melbourne are great examples of a tree
species adapted to bushfires. These trees are usually killed by intense fire but their seeds germinate
fast in the ash bed left behind by the fire (Museum Victoria, n.d.).
The city of Melbourne historically had a mix of grass, scrub, and trees in its landscape due to its
relatively flat terrain and its low elevation. Like the rest of the state of Victoria, lightning has played
an important role in shaping ecosystems and affecting different vegetation types.
ABORIGINAL FIRES
Fire events have increased ever since the Aboriginals have occupied the landscape about 40,000
years ago (Lindenmayer Burgman, 2005). They used fire to their advantage and helped change the
landscape in addition to lightning.

On Compassion Analysis Essay
Compassion at Play
Are people born with a complete quandary when it comes to compassion or is it something that
has always been there? Barbara Lazear Ascher, born in 1946, writes, On Compassion. Having
lived in New York City, Ascher is able to take first hand examples from the city to show the
affection people have towards each other. Ascher is able to illustrate that compassion is
something that has to be taught because of the adversity at people s heels by including tone,
persuasive appeals, and the mode of comparing and contrast in her essay, On Compassion. The
tone of Ascher s essay can best be described as thoughtful and reflective. Ascher is able to achieve
this tone in her quote, He wears a stained blanket pulled down to his ... Show more content on

She has not only witnessed this once, but TWICE she has seen this woman feed the man. The
readers are able to trust that she witnessed these events herself because they are realistic events,
and happen in everyday life. Compassion is a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another
who is stricken by misfortune. Ascher appeals to pathos in her essay in order to compel the
readers to feel compassion towards the victims. She contributes to pathos in her quote, The man s
grin is less the result of circumstance than dreams or madness (46). The audience feels for this
young man and the tough circumstances he is going through. The man is dressed so poorly that he
is being mistaken as a mad man by the spectators. The readers instantly feel empathy for this man in
the form of compassion. Ascher appeals to logos in order to define compassion in her quote, For
the ancient Greeks, drama taught and reinforced compassion within a society (48). Ascher includes
the real facts about the Greeks in her essay. When she includes these facts, it enables the readers to
validate that compassion is something that is taught, whether it is through plays or having to see
someone in a worse condition than they are, compassion is still attained. Ascher utilizes examples
in her essay, On Compassion to show the pity people are taking on the ones who are in a
painstaking position. The author supplies her essay with the mode of comparing and contrasting in
her quote, The object of Greek

Siddhartha Gautama, Siddhartha And The Country Of Nepal
Buddha was born in a mountain kingdom, north of India, the country of Nepal. His Birth name is
Siddhartha Gautama; Siddhartha is a compound of Sanskrit words, sidd and artha. Sidd meaning
Perfection and Artha meaning to have a goal, so the overall meaning of Siddhartha is the one
whose goal is perfection. He was born in a second highest caste in a Hindu family. In Buddhism,
Siddhartha is not considered to be a god; he is just a person and only is considered to have
certain abilities, as an extraordinary human. He was kept inside the kingdom until the age of 29,
and at that time Siddhartha became very unsatisfied with his life despite having family and
wealth. Finally he figured out the problems that are happening in the world, and questions
himself why these things like illness, death, poverty are happening. He decided to leave the
palace in the middle of the night. When everyone was sleeping he went to his wife, gave her a
goodbye kiss and left the palace seeking the liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Him leaving
wealth, family and home is known as going for the Great Renunciation. For the next 6 years he
wandered around India studying with the greatest Hindu gurus, and mastered the Hindu practices
that normally leads to Renunciation. He is still dissatisfied with his life; he didn t find what he was
primarily looking for. He thought he is not putting enough efforts and stopped eating. That didn t

An Example Of How To Write A Narrative Essay On Joann
When you see Joann for the first time , you probably will end up thinking that she would be this
little quiet old lady. But little do people who get an outside look on her know that later she would
turn out to be a chatty woman and bless us with not only her words of wisdom but also memories
from her past.
When Joann was a child her father was drafted two years after WII. He was captured and put into
a prison camp in Germany. Her father weighed 210 lbs before he went in, and when he returned
home he weighed 130 lbs. Joann missed her father while he was away. Their familywas also poor
growing up, so each Christmas they would get one toy and then the rest were clothes they needed
for the year.
After her childhood she got married to her now deceased husband and they had two daughters.
Both parents wanted what was best for their girls. Looking back on it now, Joann wishes that her
husband was there more as their daughters were growing up. For the sake of the girls, they both
decided that they would never fight in front of them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

DON T MOCK THE TURTLE: BUSINESS DEALS WITH CHINA
This case is based on a failed business deal between two important economies: Germany and
China. Although the relationship between the two managers seemed to go well in the beginning, it
quickly turned around over their business dinner. It is in the Chinese culture to give a gift to their
guest; the Chinese director politely offered to eat a turtle to the German manager to show his
respect. The German manager refused it, as this seemed weird and unusual to him. This is where
the problem happened. The reaction of both parties was wrong. The German manager asked for
chicken instead but the Chinese director ignored his request as he did not understand his denial and
ordered the turtle. When the dishes were served, the German manager was taken by surprise and
expressed his resentment in a rude way. The Chinese director did not understand his reaction and
felt offended by him not accepting his expensive gift. In just a moment the deal was broken and
they separated. Both companies suffered from this failed deal, the German company endured the
worst consequences.
To better understand this case, we are now going to analyze both cultures by using various models:

Examples Of Courage In The Hobbit

Expanding Courage All we have to decide is what we do with the time that is given to us. There
are other forces at work in this world, besides the will of evil (Tolkien 304). Growth and courage
are both vital actions in life. One cannot hope to live and thrive without growing both internally
and externally, and having the courage to stand up for what one s beliefs. Courage is directly
affected by growth, for without growth, one will never obtain the courage to move on and push
forward when times get tough in life. Stepping out of one s comfort zone takes immense growth
and no small amount of courage, but can prove to be a pivotal moment within climactic events. In

Throughout the first chapters of The Hobbit, Bilbo is portrayed in this manner, but Tolkien
brilliantly changes Bilbo little by little to symbolize the importance of growing, maturing, and
finding courage to stand up for what is right. Another great example for the need of growth and
courage that Tolkien highlights in the early parts of his work The Hobbit, is showing how obsessed
Bilbo Baggins is with his possessions. Tell me Bilbo, when did doilies and your mother s dishes
become so important to you? The world is not in your books and maps. It s out there (Tolkien
17). Through this quote, Tolkien shows how self centered people become so involved with
themselves, they start to care too much for the things that matter least. Bilbo for example, has
no interest in his approaching journey, rather he is fussing over his dishes and cloths, casting
away the needs of others and the outside world. Much like Tolkien s famous character, so many
people are worried about just themselves. They have no interest in the outside would and their
growth stops and courage hinders. A person can be very well off but if they are so wrapped up
with their own affairs, and do not experience the world they cannot grow and mature. Without
growing and maturing, real world issues aren t addressed and communication becomes surreal. No
one knows how to address these issues and that just creates more anarchy. Real world experience is
key to growth. Growth is key to

Benefits Of Your Son Becoming A Boy Scout

The Boy Scouts of America have been around for over a century and continue to be popular today.
There are many reasons for this, but above all them are the benefits that boys learn during their
time as a Boy Scout. The following are only a few of the things that kids learn from scouting.
Learning team work
Boys do activities together in the Scouts, and much of the time success depends upon working as a
team. Preteen and teenage boys often have difficulty learning to put the success of a group before
their own success, but in the Boy Scouts, this is something that your son will learn. As an adult,

In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845),
which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of

period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The
Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And

The Balance Of Payment ( Bop ) Essay
According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP) is a statement
used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the rest of the world by both
private and public sectors for a specified time period, usually every quarter or year. It is known as
Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its
non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of
the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a country has paid or
given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically, the BOP should be zero,
meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should balance; however, in the reality, this is
rarely the case.
The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account, and the
financial account:
1. The Current Account
The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a country. Within the
current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw
materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services
refer to receipts from tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or
management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets
such as stocks. Last but not least, it includes the unilateral

Never forget the Anzac legend and spirit is the core characteristics and values of our nation, be

During the war the legend of ANZAC became the proud possession of all in the AIF and most
Australians. Since then, the anniversary of 25 April 1915 has been commemorated each year as
ANZAC Day. The first ANZAC Day was conducted in 1916. The troops observed it in various
ways, and in London large crowds watched 2,000 Australians and New Zealanders march to
Westminster Abbey. In Australiathere was strong support for the day, with between 60,000 and
100,000 people packing the Domain in Sydney for a service. By 1925 huge ANZAC Day
marches were being conducted in all the main cities. Smaller places had their own observances.
Most states marked the day with a public holiday, and within two years they all did. Second
World War ex servicemen, and later others, accepted ANZAC Day as theirs too. In immediate post
war years they swelled the numbers of veterans marching. In 1990 a few ageing Gallipoli veterans,
accompanied by the Prime Minister, went back to Turkey for the 75th anniversary of the landing.
Australians watched emotionally as a handful of representatives of a near vanished army received
their salute.

does not equal prayer it is the combination of work and prayer that will develop as ministers. By
maintaining a strong devotion to God we are setting an example of holding fast to the confession
of our hope. We must frequently examine ourselves against God s Word to verify our hearts. It is
as Warfield says, we should have our hearts on fire brightly so that in our innermost being we are
men of God. The greatness of our calling as ministers should flow from the depth of our
understanding of the unsurpassed greatness of God. This understanding should motivate, empower,

Essay on A Clean, Well-Lighted Place
Human Life: Torture of the Mind Ernest Hemingway captures the essence and origins of nihilistic
thought in A Clean, Well Lighted Place , written in a time of religious and moral confusion shortly
after The Great War. The ideas expressed in this short story represent the post World War 1 thinking
of Hemingway, and the notoriously nihilistic Lost Generation in Paris, which was greatly
influenced by the many traumas of war. Learning from his unnerving experiences in battle,
Hemingway enforces the idea that all humans will inevitably fade into eternal nothingness and
everything valued by humans is worthless. He develops this idea by creating a brilliant mockery of
two coveted religious documents, revealing authority figures as typical,... Show more content on

He shows this inability to understand the pain of the old man by forcing him out of the cafГ©, and
even feeling that he wouldn t want to be that old (495). Additionally, the young waiter selfishly
feels that the old drunk should have killed [himself] last week (494) simply because he doesn t
want to waste his time dealing with him. Like most young people, the young waiter is a short term
thinker, and he has not even thought of the possibility of death; Hemingway implies that the drunken
old man and the older waiter were once youthful existentialists, but naturally grew nihilist over time.
More importantly, the reader can see that life is only thoroughly enjoyed for a moment in time, and
then everyone will disintegrate into complete and utter nothingness.
The older waiter, a more understanding and seasoned man, has lost his youth and is beginning to
realize that the obliteration of his existence is approaching. He claims that he is the type of
person who [likes] to stay late at the cafГ© (496), meaning that he requires a place of order and
cleanliness just to take his mind off of death, and the idea of nothingness. These thoughts translate
into the way he treats the old drunken man; he lets the old man lurk around the cafГ© because he
needs a light for the night (496) to chase

The Influence Of The European Age Of Exploration
Europeans in the 15th through 17th centuries were conquerors as they conquered the world. They
engaged in intensive exploration and early colonization of many parts of the world, and they
established direct contact with Africa, the Americas, and Asia. The Age of Discovery, also known
as the Age of Exploration was during this period of time. The Age of Exploration was when the
Europeans traveled around the world in search of different things. This is when Europeans
conquered different parts of the world. Europeans were conquerors because conquerors are defined
as a person who conquers (takes over) a place or people, and that is what Europeans in the 15th

They would explore that piece of unfamiliar land. Many lands previously unknown to Europeans
were discovered during this period of time, though many were already inhabited (a person or
group live in or occupy a place or environment). Europeans who explored the new areas would
conquer that new area and take it as theirs. European immigrants would do anything to conquer
new land, including killing people or groups that lived there and manipulating natives into
trusting them, so that they (Europeans) would have more power. With all of that said, the best
way to describe the European immigrants is describing them as conquerors. The best way to
describe the first wave of European immigrants is describing them as conquerors. The Europeans
in the 15th through 17th century were conquerors because they wanted to expand their empire
before their competition expanded to these new lands. In this period of time, Europeans
conquered about eighty four percent of the world. Also, Europeans started to rise to the top even
when they weren t as advanced as some of the other countries like Asia. Some of the reasons they
rose to the top was because they were one of the first to industrialize (develop industries in a
country or region on a wide scale), and they were immune to diseases such as smallpox. They were

What Is There More Misery During The French Revolution
In the book Les Miserables, during the barricade scene, a group of boys, seemingly senseless,
sacrifice their lives without second thought for the cause, the French Revolution. With events that
led to the barricade, setting up the barricade itself, and the end of the fight, without doubt the
group of young men and women who died for their beliefs were a big part of the story. During the
1800s, many events were happening that made the people of France angry and caused tension
between them and the government. During the reign of King Louis XVI in France, he was
neglecting the people of his country, leaving them with very little to no sanitation and food. In the

says that the differences between rich and poor are great during this time period. While King Louis

Target Unncryption Case Study
Several organizations that have faced recent major breaches use encryption strategies.
Unfortunately, encryption is frequently not applied and used properly. A strong security strategy is
needed which keeps entire systems in a comprehensive way in order for encryption to be
successful. For instance, an encryption process and large keymay become useless if the encryption
key is collected with the data. The cybercriminals will simply gain access to the system and use
the key to unencrypt the data (Ferguson, Schneieir, Tadayoshi, 2010, p. 12). For encryption to be
operative, company must use a defense in depth strategy in which you also keep the key and
protect access to systems where the data needs to be unencrypted in order to be managed.
Target allegedly paid a great deal of money on security technology (Capacio, 2014). Although
systems used encryption, the encryption was incompetent because the data was retrieved in
memory where it was unencrypted. Though some level of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It shows that there were weaknesses in each layer of defense used by Target that eventually
allowed cybercriminals to gain access to some of their most sensitive data.
Although many security procedures were in place throughout the Target organization, extra layers
of protection would have blocked the attack at many points along the way. Using a stronger Defense
in Depth strategy would have guaranteed that each level was not reachable from the next.
Furthermore, protections on the POS system itself could have added extra security to the data.
Critical Control
In 2008, the federal government arranged a group of public and private organizations to come up
with a list of Critical Controls founded on many other cyber security lists and guidelines. Critical
Controls are added to the list because they help avoid and identify known attacks efficiently (SANS

From the beginning of time, there has always been wildlife. The animals and plants of our
wildlife contribute to what makes this life so interesting. If all wildlife were to go extinct, then
we would not have a way to replenish the oxygen to survive off of. All animals and plants are a part
of our lifecycle and should be respected as such.
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was put in place to protect threatened and endangered animals

The Endangered Species Preservation Act of 1966 authorized the Secretary of Interior to spend
$15 million per year to purchase habitats for the species on the endangered list. This act also
required protection of these species on federal land. All land belonging to the public that was
not government was not required but were encouraged to. Many benefits have come from these
law acts that have been set in place. Recovery plans have been put into place to help our animals
and plants replenish. While doing this, exemptions can and do occur. If there is a project to be
done within a habitat of a listed species, then the ESA must notify the FWS and National Marine
Fisheries Service. Once listed species reached a level of stable existence again, they were
delisted. As of 2011, fifty one species had been delisted. Any kind of harming, wounding, or
killing is considered to be a violation. Violations of these laws have a variety of penalties. The
maximum fine is up to $50,000 or a year of imprisonment, possibly both. I do absolutely believe
this law has improved our societies and environments due to helping original life to be sustained.
These animals and plants were created to be on this earth. They did not choose to be here and did
not choose to be killed for human pleasure. This law has given these listed species another chance.

Controversy Surrounding the Use of Contraception
Introduction
From the time when it became available the near the beginning of the 1960s, oral contraceptives,
commonly called the pill, have opened possibilities that had were shut to females for all of times
gone by. Possibly more than any other sole factor, the pill has made it likely for women to be in
charge of of their own lives and to attain their prospects. Nowadays, 100 million women all over the
world use the pill. Nonetheless, there are emergencies ensuing from rape or failure to use
contraceptive plans. There are in addition emergencies ensuing from accidental consensual sex. In
spite of everything, the human sexual desire was fashioned by evolution to guarantee procreation,
and it works extremely fine. Given the correct psychological stimulants, pretty much everyone,
counting presidents of the United States and well known religious leaders, will jeopardize it all for
an illicit sexual rendezvous (Drazen, et al. 2004). To be adamant that society rely exclusively on
self restraint more willingly than contraception is to refute a nature beside which the gods
themselves are unable to compete. The whole history of humanity can be interpreted as evidence to
the influence of that nature.
Plan B was produced to cover emergencies, no matter what their reason. It turned out to be
obtainable by prescription in 1999. Millions of women have ever since found Plan B to be harmless
and efficient if ingested after intercourse but sooner than a spermatozoon enters the membrane

Snow Falling On Cedars Summary
I.Introduction
A.Snow Falling on Cedars David Guterson; Night Elie Wiesel
B.The story takes place in an imaginary town called San Piedro in 1954. The plot involves a
murder case where a Japanese American man named Kabuo Miyamoto is suspected of killing a
respected fisherman name Carl Heine in this supportive community. Most of the story is told in
flashbacks which facilitate the dealings of the various characters over the past decades.
C.Thesis: The belief of prejudice and discrimination occurs in our society in the past and present.
Each of these notions is a way to demonstrate the supremacy of one group over another.

2.The author uses the literary device of flashbacks between events happening in the courtroom in
present time and times in the character s memory. The author matches the courtroom case against
Kabuo in the verbatim courtroom with the Japanese American community s case against their white
government and fellow citizen in the courtroom of the past. The author shows how the past
interactions influence the present. For instance, the reader learned that Kabuo was infuriated with
Etta for selling the land that he thought belonged to his family during the testimony of Etta Heine.
During Etta testimony the reader saw a flashback to a time before the war, which demonstrations to
us that Etta has always felt bitter against the Japanese. The flashbacks lend a hand in filling the
gaps in the story and elucidate the biases and prejudice on the trial.

The Hurricane Starring Denzel Washington As Rubin,...
In this paper, I am going to compare and contrast the movie The Hurricane starring Denzel
Washington as Rubin Hurricane Carter to the handout provided for Nelson Mandela. I will begin
with a critical review of the movie. The setting of the movie rotates from past to present, as the
movie begin you will notice him in the ring with the middle weight champion and eventually defeat
him in the first round with a knock out. Than the movie switch to him protesting in a jail cell, 193
at Trenton State Prison, stating how he was wrongly accused for three murders and that anybody
who was trying to come get him will feel the wrath of the Hurricane. The movie than revert back to
the night where Rubin Carterand a young fella was wrongly accused of three murders in a well
known bar and grill, while leaving a night club. The reason they was pulled over was because the
cops said they was looking for two black men in a white car. Mr. Carter than asked any two black
men would count? The movie fast forward to seven years later, approximately around 1980,
where a young struggling African American high schooler purchase his book from a book sale
and is intrigued with the book because he can relate to the mishaps of Mr. Carter. The young
man, Les Martin, was in housed by three Canadians who vowed to help him succeed in life and
go to college. In the beginning of the book, Mr. Rubin Carter discusses his childhood and how it
all started. Carter and a group of friends was playing when a

African American Doctors
African American Women in the Healthcare Profession African Americans have endured great
pressure to find their place in American society, as well as among the professional disciplines. In
earlier times, it was extremely unusual for African Americans to be lawyers, doctors, or any other
professional where racial prejudice was a major obstacle. This has changed over time, however, the
ratio of Caucasians to minorities in the professions is still rather unproportioned. It is evident in the
play A Raisin in the Sun that African American
female doctors were almost unheard of during the
time the play was written. The history of female doctors alone was only less than one hundred
years in the making prior to the time period of the play. Over the... Show more content on

The Younger family was aware that there were not many female doctors during that time. They
also knew that women did not aspire to be a doctor but they would rather settle to be a housewife
or nurse. Walter Lee supports this claim in act one scene one by saying, Ain t many girls who
decide....to become a doctor (36). This family represented other African American Families,
therefore it is right to say that other families were aware of this issue. Walter continues, Who the
hell told you you had to be a doctor? ... go be a nurse like other women or just get married and be
quiet (38). As stated earlier, women were expected to marry well to become housewives or, if
they were interested in the healthcare professions, they were only allowed to be nurses. This
traditional mindset was expressed continually throughout this play by several characters, almost all
of the characters with the exception of Beneatha. Beneatha was determined to become a doctor,
although her character was fictional she was not the only Black female who aspired to become
involved in the medical profession. Women who shared similar values to those of Beneatha

for customers to contact them for after sales services, regardless of the place of purchase. This
helps customers have faith in the product and they know that if something goes wrong,

range of products Sony being such a large corporation is highly diversified into the electronics
field, financial services, etc. This helps them to sustain because incase one particular industry is
slowing down, it will not affect the entire company as a whole as much as it would if it were
only catering to that industry. Diversification helps reduce risks and therefore minimizes the
chances of failure WEAKNESSES High Pricing In these times, with a lot of options in
electronics Sony s pricing strategy does not seem apt as their products are relatively expensive
to its competitors; whether this be the Sony VAIO or the Sony PS3. Some people argue that this
price can be justified because of the brand name of Sony and it will most definitely look bad on the
company image if Sony suddenly drops all its prices just to be competitive in the market. In fact,
Sony was forced to lower its PS3 s price by $100 just to

Business Ethics Essay
Business ethics are a moral code that people conducting any sort of business should feel honorably
obligated to follow. People are definitely morally responsible to follow a code of ethics and should
never cheat each other. Parts of this code of ethics should be honesty, integrity, fidelity, charity,
responsibility, and self discipline. Those ethics should apply both to a person buying something,
and a person selling something. I don t believe that a person should be forced to follow the caveat
emptor policy, on the basis that it is unfair and unjust both to the buyer and seller. If you are an
ethical person, you should not have to warn people to beware. ... Show more content on

For example, they used to coerce women into liking specific cars, so the husband would have to
feel forced to buy the car to impress their girlfriends/wives. Another example is how the car
dealer used to put lousy parts into the cars and sell them, knowing that the car would break down
5 miles down the road. He took advantage of the people s necessity to get out of Oklahoma for his
own personal gain.
Also, the buyer has a certain responsibility too. They need to make sure to not completely trust
the seller, because not everyone is ethical. They should examine the goods carefully, ask
educated questions, and read up on the topic before going ahead and buying something. For
example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealer was able to take more advantage of the people
because he can see the raw need on their faces, and how they didn t really ask anything to make
him give them a better deal. Therefore, the people didn t do their part of being ethical buyers to get
the best and most honest deal.
The advertiser also has a big responsibility too, to be honest in the ads. For example, in The
Grapes of Wrath, the car dealership advertised a nice car at a very cheap price, but they never
sold that car. They lied to the people who wanted to buy that car, saying that it had just been sold.
They took advantage of the people s

Improving Public Speaking And Oral Communication Skills
In my research online on How to improve public speaking or oral communication skills I would
like to discuss the source I found on how to improve your public speaking with body language.
We went over this several times in class and it was in our test we took at the beginning of our
course. Body language is an important aspect of giving a speech, because you are not just
speaking with your mouth when you present. You use body language to communicate with your
audience as well. We use body language in everyday life as well, when we are talking to our
friends, or when we are afraid or upset about something. Nonverbal communicationis in our
gestures, eye contact, facial expressions, posture, and movement. Hand gestures can add to your
speech or take away from your speech tending on how you use them. It is important that your make
your hand gestures as natural as possible. It says to stand straight with your arms bent at the waist
and relax them.
It is important not to hug your body, lock your hands behind your back, or grasp and lean on the
lecture. This brings to mind how I grasp the lecture when I get up to speech, because I do not
know what to do with my hands. I feel more comfortable away from the lecture and trying to
incorporate gestures into my speech. It helps me feel more connected with my audience, because it
is a means of communication that feels natural. It also talks about how you can tell if your gestures
are adding or taking away from your speech by watching

What is sexual selection? Sexual selection is the natural selection arising through preference by
one sex for certain characteristics in individuals of the other sex. This means they are copulating

length of copulating. It can be so harmful to species that they may not be able to survive from it
afterwards. Charles Darwin distinguished sexual selection and its various ways. He realized that
sexual selection is similar to natural selectionin some ways but also different in other forms of

  • 2. Carpeting Process Analysis Refinishing Your Hardwood Floors? Learn How To Hand Refinish The Steps If you have carpeting throughout your home that you are looking to rip out so you can refinish the hardwood, chances are that the steps in your home have carpeting on them too. Steps can be one of the most frustrating parts of the hardwood refinishing process because so much of it needs to be done by hand. Follow these tips to learn how to refinish the steps on your own. Preparation You ll start by removing the old carpeting on the stairs that was previously nailed or glued down. A pry bar works great for lifting up each area of carpeting, which will give you enough leverage to rip it out by hand. It s important that you remove every single nail or patch of glue left behind on the wood, because it can potentially ruin your sanding equipment later on. Event he tiny staples will need to be removed with pliers if there is a sharp end still stuck in the hardwood. • 4. Questions On A Texas Court Essay DISCUSSION A Texas court will likely find that Adam tortuously interfered with Blake s contract with WP. Under Texas Law, the elements of tortious interference with an existing contract are: (1) an existing contract subject to interference, (2) a willful and intentional act of interference with the contract, (3) that proximately caused the plaintiff s injury, and (4) caused actual damages or loss. Prudential Ins. Co. of Am. v. Fin. Review Servs., Inc., 29 S.W.3d 74, 77 (Tex. 2000). If the other associate can prove proximate causation and actual damages, then Blake s tortious interference case will likely prevail in a Texas court since Blake s contract was an existing contract subject to interference and that Adam s interference had been willful and intentional. I. Blake s age does not bar him from entering a contract with WP that is subject to interference At the time of Adam s interference, Blake likely possessed an existing contract with WP that was subject to interference. Further, Blake s age has no bearings whatsoever with regards to validity of his contract with WP. Each of the elements of a valid contract are undisputedly present in Blake s agreement with WP: an offer, an acceptance in strict compliance with the offer s terms, a meeting of the minds, consent by both parties, and execution and delivery of the contract with the intent that it become mutual and binding on both parties. • 5. Essay on A Clockwork Orange I think that A Clockwork Orange is a book worth reading because it is relatable, makes you think, and is interesting. The author, Anthony Burgess, was born February 25, 1917. At the young age of two his mother passed away. He was brought up by his aunt and later his stepmother. Even with such an unstable childhood Burgess continued on to enroll in college and major in English. He had a passion for music, which he expressed in the main characterof A Clockwork Orange. Burgess wrote several accomplished symphonies in his day, as well as over fifty books. He was diagnoses with a brain tumorat about age 40 but well outlived his doctor s expectations continuing his artistic output until his death from lung cancerat age 76.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He fails to complete the job, wakes up in a hospital, and finds the mental barriers gone and a pity dream job is handed to him to compensate for the emotional damage. A Clockwork Orange had a loose theme of the necessity of not only good, but also evil in human nature. Alex may have been selfish and deviant but his character and the characters like him did seem to have a strong grasp on the concept that life was for living. Without the ability of choice to commit evil acts which was an impulse inside of him, his ability to act human was affected. The freedom of making these choices seems to be what makes us human. Hence without this freedom he is driven to attempt suicide. The major theme of the novel was a battle of the greater importance of a safe stable society or greater importance of free will. The main character had been conditioned to feel ill at the thought of bad acts, he had not however been conditioned to not wish to commit these acts. After viewing the presentation of the quot;successful quot; conversion from evil to quot;good, where rather than fight Alex licked the man s shoe, the prison Chaplin stated, quot;Self interest, the fear of physical pain drove him to do that grotesque act of self abasement. Its insincerity was clearly to be seen. He ceases to be a wrongdoer. He ceases also to be a creature capable of moral choice. So, is it better to be morally right without free will or ... • 6. Essay about Migration Policy and Domestic Party Politics There is no one categorical answer to this main question if Europeanization in the field of Migration Policy is limited because this field is dominated by domestic party politics or not. First of all we must define how do we understand Europeanization in the field of Migration Policy. It could be understood slight differently: (i) as an Europeanization in assimilation of rules for regular and irregular immigrants; (ii) as an Europeanization in external dimension of European Union migration policy; (iii) as an Europeanization in terms of free movement of working force within European Union, etc. These cases might have very different national interests within member states. Member states can easily agree on one point and have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6). The EU member states have certainly been wary of ceding too much of powers up to the EU, creating a de facto European space of 27 different approaches to migration policy, allowing only for minimum harmonization (Weinar, 2011, psl. 6 7). That clearly shows that migration is very sensitive policy and is strongly influenced by political decisions within member states. The main shortcoming of the European migration policy framework is its ambiguity and dispersed focus. It addresses the common interest of the EU member states in some fields, while leaving out those common interests in others (Weinar, 2011, psl. 7). So what makes some fields more attractive to common interests? Elspeth Guild states that at the heart of the EU there is and has always been an ambition and duty to reconfigure the territory of the Member States in order to achieve economic aims (Guild, 2006, psl. 631). Human rights were not part of the original schema of the EU (Guild, 2006, psl. 632). So if we assume, that economic aims and not human rights are most important factors, we might argue, that success in various Migration Policy agreements also depends on economic benefits. Putting this in a simple terms, we might argue, that member states comply with Migration Policy goals if they can get economical benefits from it. National states are always ... • 7. Religious Pluralism Essay On July 12, 2007, for the first time in American history the Senate session that day was opened by a prayer; unlike any other prayer, it was given by a Hindu priest. At first sight, it would seem as though the ideals designed by the framers of the Constitution were alive and well; the pluralization of the United Statesof America, the land of freedom of religion, and the right to worship without persecution. However, the Christian right wing religious group Operation Save America entered the Senate floor and began to heckle Rajan Zed, the Hindu priest, perpetuating that Hinduism is an abomination , as Hindus do not worship The lord Jesus Christ . This leads us to ask the question: Is America a land of religious pluralism, or is it a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With 77% of all evangelical leaders holding an unfavorable view of Islam, still 93% of evangelicals agree that it is important to Welcome Muslims into the American community (Cimino, R, pg. 2). This survey reveals that the problem with the Islam faith is not racial: The Muslim people are welcomed, the Islam faith is not. The violence that has been perpetrated against America, whether executed or planned, has brought to fruition religious persecution not seen since the persecution of the Jews in W.W.II. This trust no Arab attitude has brought shame to the Constitutional intentions of freedom of religion intended by our forefathers, and has set religious tolerance back 200 years. Looking at media representation of Muslim Americans prior to 9 11, it shows religious diversity in America, depicting Muslim America as just another religious community seeking to advance and protect their interests, not unlike other Americans. After 9 11 the media portrayed representations of threat and fear, creating boundaries between Muslims and other Americans. Such depiction transforms the identity of Muslims and American religious pluralism (Byng, M. pg. 3). The land of pluralism has become a land of persecution for Muslim Americans. I cannot help but wonder how the Constitutional framers would interpret the problems of today: The holy war we face, the attempted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Hester Street American Dream Essay Throughout U.S. history, immigrants have struggled to find a balance between the adoption of American culture and the preservation of their native cultures. While many immigrants near the turn of the 20th century desired full assimilation into American culture, like Jake from Joan Micklin Silver s 1975 film Hester Street, many immigrants today maintain strong ties to their home countries and native cultures. But, considering the recent increase in political and social discussion surrounding the topic of immigration, the struggle to balance American and native customs has intensified for many immigrants. While some tightly cling to their ethnic identities as a reminder of their roots, others fear xenophobic sentiments or simply desire a new culture, more quickly adopting an Americanized lifestyle. Whether open to assimilation or not, many immigrants, like Jake, hope to attain the American Dream . A vision shared by millions of Americans, both immigrants and native born, the American Dream represents the ability to work hard and achieve success for oneself, regardless of status, wealth, race, or creed. This search for success in America has happened for hundreds of years, and is literally the reason the nation was established. Though they can make jokes toward themselves and other Jews, jokes from non Jews about Jews are not usually accepted or appreciated (Schwartz, 2004). The main vision behind designing ATM was integration of services and performance requirements of both telephony and data networking which was shortly called Broadband Integrated Service Vision (B ISDN). This cell relay protocol was designed by ATM forum and was universally adopted by ITU T. Usually the size of the fixed cells is about 53 bytes with 5 bytes for header and 48 bytes payload. Tell me Bilbo, when did doilies and your mother s dishes become so important to you? The world is not in your books and maps. It s out there (Tolkien 17). • 36. The Balance Of Payment ( Bop ) Essay According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP) is a statement used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the rest of the world by both private and public sectors for a specified time period, usually every quarter or year. It is known as Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a country has paid or given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically, the BOP should be zero, meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should balance; however, in the reality, this is rarely the case. The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account, and the financial account: 1. The Current Account The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a country. Within the current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services refer to receipts from tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets such as stocks. As a result of our love for God, we are encouraged to have in our vocation a devotion with zeal and piety. We are to be as Warfield puts it; God made, meaning a minister is called, shaped and developed divinely by God s decree and power thereby being made worthy through the process of God s call upon their life. Warnings against pitfalls As religious men, we should avoid the peril of becoming so engrossed in our theological studies that we neglect our personal devotion. Warfield s caveat to us is Christian service or work alone cannot replace the depth of Christian affection to God. Work does not equal prayer it is the combination of work and prayer that will develop as ministers. By maintaining a strong devotion to God we are setting an example of holding fast to the confession of our hope. We must frequently examine ourselves against God s Word to verify our hearts. • 52. African American Doctors African American Women in the Healthcare Profession African Americans have endured great pressure to find their place in American society, as well as among the professional disciplines. In earlier times, it was extremely unusual for African Americans to be lawyers, doctors, or any other professional where racial prejudice was a major obstacle. This has changed over time, however, the ratio of Caucasians to minorities in the professions is still rather unproportioned. It is evident in the play A Raisin in the Sun that African American female doctors were almost unheard of during the time the play was written. The history of female doctors alone was only less than one hundred years in the making prior to the time period of the play. Over the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Younger family was aware that there were not many female doctors during that time. They also knew that women did not aspire to be a doctor but they would rather settle to be a housewife or nurse. Walter Lee supports this claim in act one scene one by saying, Ain t many girls who decide....to become a doctor (36). This family represented other African American Families, therefore it is right to say that other families were aware of this issue. Walter continues, Who the hell told you you had to be a doctor? ... go be a nurse like other women or just get married and be quiet (38). As stated earlier, women were expected to marry well to become housewives or, if they were interested in the healthcare professions, they were only allowed to be nurses. This traditional mindset was expressed continually throughout this play by several characters, almost all of the characters with the exception of Beneatha. Beneatha was determined to become a doctor, although her character was fictional she was not the only Black female who aspired to become involved in the medical profession. Women who shared similar values to those of Beneatha achieved major milestones which created a path for women to come to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Service Another strength of Sony is that their international presence makes it very convenient for customers to contact them for after sales services, regardless of the place of purchase. This helps customers have faith in the product and they know that if something goes wrong, irrespective of where they are at that point in time they can always contact a Sony office Wide range of products Sony being such a large corporation is highly diversified into the electronics field, financial services, etc. This helps them to sustain because incase one particular industry is slowing down, it will not affect the entire company as a whole as much as it would if it were only catering to that industry. Diversification helps reduce risks and therefore minimizes the chances of failure WEAKNESSES High Pricing In these times, with a lot of options in electronics Sony s pricing strategy does not seem apt as their products are relatively expensive to its competitors; whether this be the Sony VAIO or the Sony PS3. Some people argue that this price can be justified because of the brand name of Sony and it will most definitely look bad on the company image if Sony suddenly drops all its prices just to be competitive in the market. In fact, Sony was forced to lower its PS3 s price by $100 just to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Business Ethics Essay (grapes Business Ethics Essay Business ethics are a moral code that people conducting any sort of business should feel honorably obligated to follow. People are definitely morally responsible to follow a code of ethics and should never cheat each other. Parts of this code of ethics should be honesty, integrity, fidelity, charity, responsibility, and self discipline. Those ethics should apply both to a person buying something, and a person selling something. I don t believe that a person should be forced to follow the caveat emptor policy, on the basis that it is unfair and unjust both to the buyer and seller. If you are an ethical person, you should not have to warn people to beware. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, they used to coerce women into liking specific cars, so the husband would have to feel forced to buy the car to impress their girlfriends/wives. Another example is how the car dealer used to put lousy parts into the cars and sell them, knowing that the car would break down 5 miles down the road. He took advantage of the people s necessity to get out of Oklahoma for his own personal gain. Also, the buyer has a certain responsibility too. They need to make sure to not completely trust the seller, because not everyone is ethical. They should examine the goods carefully, ask educated questions, and read up on the topic before going ahead and buying something. For example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealer was able to take more advantage of the people because he can see the raw need on their faces, and how they didn t really ask anything to make him give them a better deal. Therefore, the people didn t do their part of being ethical buyers to get the best and most honest deal. The advertiser also has a big responsibility too, to be honest in the ads. For example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealership advertised a nice car at a very cheap price, but they never sold that car. They lied to the people who wanted to buy that car, saying that it had just been sold. They took advantage of the people s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Improving Public Speaking And Oral Communication Skills In my research online on How to improve public speaking or oral communication skills I would like to discuss the source I found on how to improve your public speaking with body language. We went over this several times in class and it was in our test we took at the beginning of our course. Body language is an important aspect of giving a speech, because you are not just speaking with your mouth when you present. You use body language to communicate with your audience as well. We use body language in everyday life as well, when we are talking to our friends, or when we are afraid or upset about something. Nonverbal communicationis in our gestures, eye contact, facial expressions, posture, and movement. Hand gestures can add to your speech or take away from your speech tending on how you use them. It is important that your make your hand gestures as natural as possible. It says to stand straight with your arms bent at the waist and relax them. It is important not to hug your body, lock your hands behind your back, or grasp and lean on the lecture. This brings to mind how I grasp the lecture when I get up to speech, because I do not know what to do with my hands. I feel more comfortable away from the lecture and trying to incorporate gestures into my speech. It helps me feel more connected with my audience, because it is a means of communication that feels natural. It also talks about how you can tell if your gestures are adding or taking away from your speech by watching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
