Apartheid In South Africa
The music from the Apartheid in South Africa was extremely important in the movement for
freedom. At a time when there wasn t much money for the Anti Apartheid Movement, music
became the most important weapon. The songs sung all over South Africa in resistance to the
Apartheid intimidated the government more than weapons and violence could because of the
powerful meaning behind each song that unified and strengthened the resistance. Artists all over
South Africawrote songs speaking out against the government and its cruel laws and although many
of them were banned, the people of South Africa heard them and sang them to protest the rules of
the government. While there are many different varieties of revolutionary music from the... Show

The earliest variations of Nkosi Sikelel Afrika , like the upbeat Masowe Apostles and the slower
Marankes, inspired many artists to do the same. Some used the lyrics or melody to add to their
own original songs, like the aggressive rap by Prophets of da City and Dan Moyane s fusion of
the song s lyrics with the melody of Die Stem Van Suid Afrika , South Africa s national anthem
during the Apartheid. Others used the song as inspiration for songs with similar lyrics, like Nkosi
Yethu by Isaian Shembe and Mwari Komberera Africa by John Maranke. Despite being banned by
the government, Nkosi Sikelel Afrika continued to be sung throughout the Apartheid and became
so important that it was named the national anthem of South Africa at the end of the Apartheid.
Although Nkosi Sikelel Afrika was originally a religious hymn, the lyrics had a very prominent
political connotation. The song was not a revolutionary song in the traditional sense, but a prayer
for freedom and equality. The meaning of the lyrics, shown below, called for the Lord to help the
people. The seven additional verses, especially the last one, transformed the song from a religious
hymn to a song calling for hope and the power to fight back. Although the words do not directly
attack the government, they are much more powerful to the people of South Africa than any
revolutionary song. Lord, bless Africa
May her horn rise high up;
Hear Thou our prayers

Cost-Benefit Analysis
Sports is one of the largest recreational activities in canada, with over 2 million kids aged 5 to 14,
took part in sports. However, our government has decreased its funding over sports. From 2014
to 2015, 201.98 million dollars were funded but from 2015 to 2016, only 196.78 milion dollars
were funded on sports. Moreover, sports participation of kids is declining. Boys now are less
likely to regularly participate in sports than they were back in 1992 and those who do compete are
involved in fewer sports. The decline rate will continue unless our government promotes sports
heavily, through schools and community sportprograms. Our governent should dedicate more
money on these programs because sports are mainly promoted by such means, sports have heath
benefits and sports make us smarter. Firstly, kids develop physical literacy through schools and
community sport programs. According to the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD),
kids from age 6 to 8 belong to stage 2 fundametals, kids from age 8 to 11 belong to stage 3 learn to
train and kids from age 11 to 15 belong to stage 4 train to train. Schools and community sport

Althought not all diseases can be eliminated by being healthy, it significantly decreases the
incidence and severity of many common diseases. According to the Applied Physiology,
Nutrition and Metabolism, a total of 6.8 billion dollars were used to treat all inactivity related
diseases, with coronary artery diseases claiming top spot for costing 2.7 billion dollars in health
care. Type 2 diabetes and stroke claim the second and third spot for costing 1.4 and 1.1 billion
dollars respectively. Moreover, atheletes have longer life expectancy. According to THE BMJ,
researchers compared life expectancy among 15,174 Olympic athletes who won medals between
1896 and 2010 and discovered that olympic medallists live longer than the general population by

Benjamin Franklin Influence
Perhaps, one of the most quotable men in the United States history is Benjamin Franklin. He was
a visionary who coined multitudes of aphorisms such as, Have you something to do tomorrow?
Do it today and Industry gives comfort and plenty and respect. However, his talent was not only
limited to his ability to make memorable phrases, he was also a pioneer in inventions from the
stove to bifocals to the lighting rod. He is a man who has become known as one of the founding
fathers of the United Statesand who, to this day, graces our hundred dollar bills. Ironically enough,
this man who has become engraved as an American national treasure was not always a ferment
nationalist, and even felt a sense of loyalty toward the mother country of England.... Show more

He believed that uniting the colonies and England would lead to a stronger nation. Franklin was
sure that having the crown, as a mother country, was not an ailment but rather a powerful
helping hand for the colonies. In fact, as he and the colonies grew in independence and self
sufficiency, Franklin and other leaders drew up a proposal to ensure their voice in legislation
without being free of the power of the English. He states, By this plan the general government
was to be administered by a president general, appointed and supported by the crown, a grand
council was to be chosen by the representative assemblies (Franklin 102). However, the English
rejected the idea and deemed it too democratic and although the proposal was not approved,
Franklin still held some levels of patriotism towards Britain. Keeping in mind the high regard he
held England it is no wonder he was more so inclined around the time of the Seven Years War to
fight alongside the British. He was quick to come up with plans on defense and was efficient in
acquiring what was needed in terms of money and defense. He worked closed with Generals and
Governors, and was an instrumental part of the war. Franklin was sure to solidify his place as an
American who was highly regarded by the English and in a sense might have been due to his

Analysis Of Chasing Heroine
Should this disease have gotten this far in society? The more you engage in any type of emotion
or behavior, the greater your desire for it will become. Chris Prentiss. In the documentary
Chasing Heroine that was filmed on PBS Frontline, was extremely shocking to watch. This film
was filmed in 2016. It followed current and former addicts, their love ones, and advocates. This
documentary actually told the truth of certain things in regard to heroine. The light was shed on
how the heroine was brought into history, social problems, and shame, and the system. In the
documentary, heroine is nothing new, but a disease that has been brewing for a little over 30
years. Before heroine became known for a high, it was a drug called OxyContin, that was given
to everyone to take away their problems. These pain problems consist of cancer patients and
severe chronic pain. However, Purdue Pharma seen an opportunity to provide a new prescription
called Oxy to an old drug name, but gave it an extra release long acting of pain relief. Then
started advertising it on commercials for the public to view every day. Less than 1% of patient
become addicted. In 2001, Pharma sold over 1 billion dollars with OxyContin over a year.
Heroine started to go epic after OxyContin was tapered back from the pharmacy. Heroine was
also majority of the middle class to the wealthy white men and woman population that lived in the
suburban area. The pharmacy knew what they were doing, and had to pay about 600 million in
fines for their neglect to the people. This epidemic was taken to the White House, but President
Obama did not take it serious. Obama could care less about this epidemic, that he waited 1 year
later to act. However, at this time the healthcare professionals could provide a bottle to every adult
in the nation. Heroine was just not hitting the adult population, but young adults tried it too. One
particular participant in the film was named Christina. She started heroine at a young age, and now
been using for years. She was high while filming the documentary. There was a phrase that stuck out
to me that she correlates with, this drug, it has a brain, and it shares mine. I can understand that this
is a documentary about heroine, but

Human Development and Intelligence Piaget and Vygotsky, two psychologists that throughout
history have had what the present day engenderment would call unsettled beef . According to my
research; and prolonged Twitter tweets and Facebook statuses on the topic; both Piaget and
Vygotsky s theories/ approaches to cognitive development are both correct. Both psychology
grandmasters approached their topics differently which will be elaborated upon throughout this
composition.
Cognitive development is Piaget s famous theory. Jean Piaget s (1896 1980) approach to cognitive
development was explained as a progressive reconstruction of mental processes as a consequence to

Both Piaget and Vygotsky agreed that development in children occurs due to children being active
learners correlating their learning between both old and new information in order to reach a stage
of equilibrium. Both also agreed that egocentric speech was important in a child s cognitive
development and that cognitive development declines with age. Few but similar, Piaget and
Vygotsky, two minds contemplating on the same topic from other sides of the globe had interacting
thoughts. However, there are some differences too. Piaget believed that development was a stage
that had to come first before learning whereas Vygotsky believed that development and learning
worked together through socialization and language. Also, Piaget thought that there was a
connection between biological factors and cognitive development whereas Vygotsky appealed that
intelligence from social acquisitions initiated cognitive growth and

##ity And Intimacy In Ernest Hemingway s In Our Time
Ernest Hemingway grasps the intimacy and authenticity of human relationships, in his book, In Our
Time. The book consists of short stories following the lives of different individuals. Few of the
short stories include The End of Something, Mr. and Mrs. Elliot, Cat in the Rain, and The Doctor
and The Doctors Wife. Through these short stories, relationships between male and female
characters, lack meaningful intimacy. There is a disconnect amongst these couples. Hemingway
redefines intimacy and what it means. Intimacy goes beyond sex; it is a bond between individuals.
He is depicting two forms of intimacy through his characters. One form of intimacy is emotional
intimacy, which is portrayed in the male characters. The other form would be sexual intimacy.
Thus, Hemingway is changing our perception of intimacy; it is not only found in male and female
relationships, but also in friendships. The bond between the male characters is more meaningful
and stronger than the female and male relationships.
Furthermore, Hemingway explores the absence of emotional intimacy in the male and female
relationships. In The Doctor and The Doctor s Wife, the couple that is portrayed are the doctor
and his wife. The theme of isolation is prevalent in this story. For example, Aren t you going back
to work, dear? asked the doctor s wife from the room where she was lying with the blinds drawn
(Hemingway 25). From this example, it is clear that the wife is in her own room. Given another
example,

The Impact of Lipolysis on Different Cheese Varieties
Impact of Lipolysis in Different Cheese Varieties Introduction During the process of ripening,
biochemical processes that take place in the cheese are the most importance factors that
contribute in speedy ripening process. Other than well studied, proteolysis, most important roles
in cheese ripening involves lipolysis, the fat burning process. Ripening is the main process in
which development of the cheese flavor takes place. During the process of ripening a large
number of sapid compounds are produced which if present in the correct ratios and
concentrations lead to the best flavor development. Three processes are known that contribute in
the production of these compounds, lipolysis, proteolysis and glycolysis. The flavor
development in cheese depends upon the degree in which these three processes functions that
play key roles in distinct differences between cheese varieties. Extent of Lipolysis in Cheese The
studies have shown that the extent of lipolysis is different and varied in different kinds of
cheese. Dutch type cheese has lesser extent of lipolysis to extensive lipolysis as seen in much
harder, ripened Italian cheese. In the case of Emmental cheese, it is seen that only 1 2% of the
lipids are hydrolyzed, and the highest being in Blue cheese (Kilcawley, and Beresford, 2004, p.
34). Lipolytic Enzymes Involved It has been highlighted that cheese with lesser amount of fatty
acids is considered unripened and not mature as compared to the cheese having higher

Persuasive Essay On Laptops In Education
In today s day and age, technology surrounds us while we indulge in it. Technology is slowly
taking away the traditional methods of learning while we adapt to the contemporary methods. High
Schools now provide laptops for the students to use throughout the school year for note taking and
research. Although typing notes is fast and simple on a laptop, writingthe notes forces you to slow
down and address the vital information. To start off, using a laptop in class will prevent you
from learning. Many people that use laptops in class to take notes are easily distracted by the
worldwide web or social media. There was a survey that was taken weekly for 10 weeks that
revealed what the students were doing on their laptops during class. A majority (64%) of the
respondents reported using their laptops during at least one class session. They reported using
their laptops to take course notes (83.3%), send email (81%), send and receive instant messages
(68%), surf the internet (43%), and play games (25%). An additional 35% reported using their
laptops on other non course related activities (Fisher). This study showed that the vast majority of
people that used their laptop didn t not just take notes, they also used it to browse the worldwide
web. Some of those students that used their laptop to take notes didn t even take notes. There was
another study by Fried, said that there was a significant, negative relationship between in class
laptop use and course grade (Fried). There

The Case Of Elonis V. United States
Judiciary Assignment While, reading the case, Elonis v. United States, I was astonished to see
that someone would post something so explicit, offensive, and inhumane. Basically, the case of
Elonis v. United States is about a man named Anthony Elonis who is an upcoming rapper and
used his stage name, Tone Dougie. His Facebook page consisted of him posting disturbing rap
lyrics. Even though Elonis was going through a divorce with his former wife, which did not stop
him from writing and posting crude lyrics. Eventually, it got to the point where his wife felt that
she was being targeted by his lyrics. According to an article on, New York Times, Elonis wrote
that he wanted to see a Halloween costume that included his wife s head on a stick. Obviously, she
felt threatened and reported the assaults to the police. Anthony Elonis was convicted for posting
threats that targeted his wife, his coworkers, police officers, a kindergarten class, and even an FBI
agent. Although Elonis argued that his posting are not considered to be a true threat and that he is
protected under the First Amendment. I believe he wanted to cause fear towards his wife, Tara and
therefore, is his lyrics are a true threat. Basically, a true threat is defined as something a person
would consider to be purposely harmful and cause pain. Elonis mentioned that his post were not
offended nor were the threatening anybody. He stated that he did not have the intent of trying to
harm anyone, he was just trying

Response To Intervention Essay
RTI, is an acronym that has become commonly used in education after No Child Left Behind was
implemented, but what does that acronym mean? Brown Chidsey and Steege quoted Dave Tilly, a
school psychologist, as saying that RTI actually means really terrific instruction! RTI is defined
differently in different states. Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say
that it means Response to Instruction. Brown Chidsey and Steege state that whether you say
intervention or instruction, it does not matter; the importance is that teachers use scientific based
teaching that responds to students learning.
There are several benefits of RTI. First, according to the Nebraska RTI website, research states that

According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI
is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the
district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that
consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school
psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS,
should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to
assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction.
According to the ESU10 RTI website, RTI is an educational service delivery system designed to
provide effective instruction for all students using a comprehensive and preventive problem solving
approach. RTI is a three tiered method of instructional delivery to meet the needs of most students.
The three tiers consist of the core, targeted, and intensive. The tiers represent instructional supports.
Tier one is the utilization of a researched based core instruction program. The district should
implement a universal screener to check for students learning. The goal is for districts to achieve at
least eighty percent of students meeting benchmark. If the student does not meet benchmark, then

StГ©phane Grappelli was a French jazz violinist who was known as the grandfather of jazz
violinists because of his all string jazz band that he had begun/initiated in 1934. Grappelli was
born on January 26, 1908 to Ernesto Grappelli and Anna Emilie Hanoque in Paris, France. While
his father was Italian, his mother was French. Grappelli s early years were quite unfortunate. His
familywas very poor. His mother died when he was four years old which left him in the hands of
his father, who was later drafted to fight for Italy in World War I. He spent much of his time as a

Reflection Paper On Why I Want To Be A Lawyer
Lawyers are often portrayed as invidious, rigid, and odious in media, as well attract an uneasy
feeling in most individuals when brought up in conversation. Frequently they are at the
punchline of jokes insulting their quirks. The obvious question is why would anyone want to be
an attorney? In my case, I get a lot of influence from my mother who was a lawyer for twenty
years. I was very proud to tell people my mom was a practicing attorney, even more so today
knowing she often defended those that were unable to pay for alternative council. Another
reason is I enjoy history, even when it is upsetting to learn about. My reasoning is it gives me
perspective on my own life, as well as giving me hope that through this new perspective I can
reflect and make a positive impact on lives including my own. I look at cases like Brown v.
Board of Education and it inspires me that perhaps I could make a difference on society through
the courtroom. Lastly although I may not illustrate in my classroom demeanor that I enjoy
speaking in public, but when prepared I enjoy the feeling of attempting to captivate others from
my speech to bend them or lean them towards my way of thinking. This isn t to say I am
incapable of breaking away from opinions I have formed over the years quite the contrary, I learn
the most when I listen to others speak. With regard to my mom Patricia Wengert, I draw a lot of
inspiration from her to become an attorney. When she was 16 years old she became pregnant with

Motherly Love
In the three stories we read by Flannery O Connor; The Comforts of Home , Everything That
Rises Must Converge , and The Enduring Chill , the major relationship portrayed was between
mothers and their hypersensitive sons. While all of the major characters, the sons, were noticeably
similar, the lesser characters of the mothers were also very alike in many ways. Many of their
views, gestures and outward qualities paralleled throughout the stories. After rereading all of the
stories again I came to the realization that the mothers O Connor wrote in her stories were variations
of the same person.
One of the qualities that jump out first is that all three mothers are ... Show more content on

The boys feel that either their mother did not do a good enough job raising them or that she has
disrupted the proper pace of their lives. This is apparent in all the boys but especially confusing in
the case of Julian. At the beginning of the story he says he could have stood his lot better if she
[his mother] had been an old hag who drank and screamed at him (5) yet later talks about how
there was no reason for her to think she could always depend on him (14). While he feels that
she raised him well, he does not want her to feel that he will be there for her like she seems to
have been there for him. Asbury makes it very clear that he feels his mother was the unnerving
force that lead to the demise of his life. Upon his death, he wanted his mother to read a letter her
wrote to her about what she had done to him (91) but thought, that his mother would not
understand the letter at once... he thought she would be able to see that he forgave her for all that
she had done to him (91). This statement, like Julian s is not truly supported in any way. It
appears in both stories that the boys mothers did everything they possible could to give their
children the best of life. Thomas, on the other hand, does not feel quite as much observable
loathing to his mother and says that he loved his mother. He loved her because it was his nature to
do so, but there were times when he could not endure her love for him (118). Unlike the other

Essay About Marijuana
Marijuana may control the way people act, think, and even hurt their college academics. Marijuana
is one of the most popular used drugs in America ranking about third after tobacco and alcohol.
Marijuana is a substance that has become very much a part of American culture; many college
students have either used it occasionally or regularly. With that in mind, I thought it would be
interesting to find out about students at Alcorn State University (ASU) and their use of marijuana.
In fact most students might not even know what they are smoking and what exactly makes them

I felt it would let me see first hand how people act when smoking marijuana. I figured it would be
a lot easier to observe my friends smoking marijuana because I know they would not feel
uncomfortable. I was aware that students could lie on the survey and in my interview so that is
why I decided to see people smoking first hand.
To start out the survey I asked not to write your name just to indicate whether you were male or
female. There were six males and four females. I also needed to know whether or not they
smoked marijuana; there were eight out of ten students who smoke marijuana. Why do young
people start to use marijuana? There are many reasons why most young people start to smoke
marijuana because their friends or brothers and sisters use marijuana and pressure them to try it.
In my survey five out of ten students said the reason for starting to smoke was because of their
peers or older siblings. When interviewing Jada she said, I only started because of my friends, they
said I would like it so I tried it, and I did. Desiree answered that question a little different replying, I
watched my older brother always smoke weed and he looked like he was having fun. So one day I

I believe that laws have been used greatly to reinforce discrimination throughout the years by this
I imply that people are being judged and denied the opportunity of acquiring respect and chances
of achieving their goals because certain laws either intentionally or not are preventing them
from doing so. One example can be how the society views weight as well as personal appearance
as characteristics which an individual can control, here we go back to the Civil Rights Act of
1964 which does not prevent any employer from actually judging and discrimination another
employee or applicant of the job based upon their appearance or weight. Another example
against a race, most people belonging to the African or Hispano origin struggle to actually be
hired at a variety of workplaces this is mainly because there is a very distinct immigration law
just like Arizona s new law which prohibits several individuals from being hired for a number of
reasons, different papers requires which act as an excuse to prevent these people form actually
getting a good work or position these laws were directly intended to Africans and Hispanic illegally
immigrated people.
Although many laws have been implemented in the wrong way and have been either
unintentionally or intentionally reinforcing discrimination, they have also been used to eliminate
it. There are many laws nowadays especially those which are implemented at work which prevent
any workplace discrimination or workforce

The first responders immediately recognized the stench of human decomposition, as well as
Casey s father a detective. Furthermore, the smell was confirmed by a cadaver dog and I highly
doubt a trained cadaver dog would mistake the stench of moldy food with the odor of
decomposed human remains. Lastly, I find the testimony of Dr. Vass to be highly compelling
given he is the founder of the DOA technique which he based on his research at the body barn. If
there is any place where you can find some reliable techniques regarding human decomposition, I
would presume it would be here. Unfortunately, this analysis was barely new around the time of

in the prosecutor s case and gave some light toward the defense of Casey since you could deem Dr.

Genetic And Non Genetic Factors
Genetic and non genetic basis
Genetic factors are relatively contributed about 50 % of the risk of the pathogenesis of RA (Aho
et al., 1986; MacGregor et al., 2000). MHC encoding HLA DRB1 gene is one of greater risk
posing allele responsible for the 1/3rd of genetic basis (Deighton et al., 1989; Rigby et al.,
1991). These alleles further subdivided and defined by the presence or absence of Anti
citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), also termed as ACPA positive RA and ACPA negative
RA (Seegobin et al., 2014). ACPA positive RA more worsens the condition with severe erosive
damage (Silman and Pearson, 2002). However, the non genetic factors such as pregnancy, lifestyle,

However, the production of Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP) is also responsible for the
degradation of the extracellular matrix of synovium(Tan et al., 2006).
Mineral oil and Adjuvant
Mineral oils and adjuvant have the potential to directly activate the innate immune system. Several
studies have been conducted which proposed the relation between the RA with the adjuvant
(Maradit Kremers et al., 2005). The study also reported that adjuvant like BCG found to cause
arthritic symptoms during the course of immunotherapy (Turesson, 2004).
Opportunistic Infections
Microbial organisms are also responsible for activating the macrophages and leads to the
development of the inflammatory mediators. However, inflammation caused by the microbial
infections include Shigella, Clostridium difficile, Salmonella typhimurium, etc., called as
Infectious Arthritis (Li et al., 2013).
2.7 Co morbidity condition associated with RA
Rheumatic disorders are frequently complicated by co existence of comorbidities. Co morbidity
is a medical condition that co exists with the disease such as RA. A co morbid condition in RA
influences the progression and severity of disease which directly affects the quality of life,
treatment of primary as well as secondary (Co morbid) disease. There have been great chances

Essay On Jewish Resistance
Jewish Resistance Resistance is the act of refusing to accept something and fighting against the
authority to make things right. Jewish resistance during World War II gave Jewish people hope
that they will be free again. Jewish resistance took place in many concentration camps and
ghettos. There were also many groups dedicated to fighting the German Nazis, some Jews chose
to fight them armed and others chose the more peaceful way of resisting, like spirtual resistance.
While the Nazis had more power than the resistance groups throughout the war, armed Jewish
resistance had a major role fighting against the German Nazis because these Jewish resistance
groups were formed dedicated to fighting the Nazis for their freedom, and people in the
concentration camps and ghettos also resisted the Nazis in their own limited ways, but it still

Spirtual resistance took place in most ghettos and camps during World War II. It was attempts
by individuals who tried to maintain their humanity, personal integrity, and dignity through the
face of God in ghettos and camps. The Germans forbade religious services in most ghettos, so
many Jews prayed and held ceremonies in secret in cellars, attics, and back rooms as others
stood guard, (Spirtual Resistance in the Ghettos). Also, people would keep diarys and journals
about their experiences during the war as part of their Jewish history, but also so people know
what they went through. The most famous example of this is probably The Diary of a Young
Girl by Anne Frank. Prayer by these Jewish people in the ghettos and camps helped sustain their
morales, and help them keep their religious identity. Prayer also was believed by many Jews that
it was the best and truest form of resistance. As shown above, Jews did spirtual resitance in ghettos

The Importance Of Communication In Speaking In Tongues By...
After its birth, glass becomes one kind of useful material in people s physical life. It has one
unique nature that, after some little modifications, it can be qualified to accomplish totally
different tasks, for example serving as windows and mirrors, to benefit the people who use it.
Meanwhile, towards people s mental experience, the communication is similar to glass in nature,
and plays the same role. In such a modern and pluralistic society, the accelerating pace of life and
the increasing amount of information bombardment people s brains; The high frequency of
contacts with internet, which is an infinite source of knowledge, also exhausts their time to think
over themselves and then makes them easily to become a pollyanna, which means the people who

The Importance Of Raising The Driving Age
Did you know that 33% of teen deaths are caused by traffic accidents? Most teens that die in traffic
accidents each year are2 16 20 years of age. Should they raise the driving age, or make you hold
your learner s permit longer? I feel they should make you hold your learner s permit longer to make
you a more experienced driver.
Teens drive less hours than almost all other drivers but they have the highest crash rates and
crash deaths than all other drivers. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens.
In 2013, 2,163 teens ages 16 19 were killed and 243,243 were treated in the emergency room for
injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That means that six teens died every day from injuries
sustained in a vehicle crash.
The main reasons teens have so many more accidents than older drivers is inexperience. ... Show

I have a question for all of you to answer: When you got your learner s permit, did you drive all
the hours required to get your licenses or did you wait and fill them all out at the end? If most of
you were like me, you drove every possible day you could but that doesn t mean you got all of
your hours completed. A simple way to fix this problem is to make new drivers hold their
learners longer. I feel that another good reason to make people hold their learner s permits longer
is that it may help lower teen death rates and accidents which means more young people being
able to go home to see their families at the end of the day. If you have more experience driving it
helps you to make wiser and more mature decisions. You are then less likely to text and drive.
Texting while driving is more dangerous than drunk driving because drunk drivers are at least
looking at the road. I feel that holding a learner s permit for at least one year would help to make
sure that young drivers have the hours needed to be a safe

Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene
A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb
the water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this,
it is first necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead
to polymers properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to
illustrate the connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be
explained, followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used
to show why Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle.
A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called
monomers. A polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers
(Smith et al., 2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements
such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made
synthetically, such as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being
investigated are. Polylactic acid is made naturally and Polypropylene is made synthetically.
Polymers can be three dimensional networks which don t melt such as epoxy resin, and are called
thermoset polymers, two dimensional or one dimensional networks or chains which can be melted
such as polypropylene called thermoplastic polymers

The New Arts Education Plan
With the upcoming addition of our middle school we will be developing a sixth, seventh, and eighth
grade arts program consistent with the frameworks of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years
Programme. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme requires visual and
performing arts for all students and demands much more of students and teachers than our more
traditional elementary arts program. We hope to provide an arts rich school community to all our
students. The new arts educationplan would continue our focus on developing knowledge about art
forms in various contexts, developing the language of art, and learning how to respond to and
evaluate art. Within this new arts education plan we also hope to offer a more diverse range of art
materials to our students such as ceramics, sculpture, pottery, weaving, metalworking, and stained
glass. These new materials would allow our students opportunities to create higher level art, be
exposed to portions of art history that are often forgotten, and work in new ways that were once
limited by only creating 2D art. We hope to create this new arts education plan for our new middle
school while maintaining a strong elementary arts education program. Drama, music, and visual
arts are important parts of our students week. These courses allow our students to learn life skills
such as respect, communication, perseverance, problem solving, accountability, and collaboration,

Examples Of Critical Discourse Analysis
CHAPTER 2
THEORITICAL FOUNDATION
2.1Critical Discourse Analysis
To understand the concept of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), it is necessary to see how
CDA defines discourse. Discourse is not simply an isolated textual or dialogical structure (van
Dijk, 1988). It is seen as socially constructed ways that do not only shape but also enable (social)
reality (Foucault, 1977; Paltridge, 2006). It involves a dialectical relationship between a particular
discursive event and the situation(s), institution(s), and social structure(s) which frame it
(Fairclough Wodak, 1997, p. 258). It also helps to establish power relations between social classes,
gender, or majorities and minorities groups (Wodak Meyer, 2009). Therefore, CDA acts as an
approach that critically investigates the relationship between discourse and the reproduction of
power in social practices and interactions (Fairclough, 1995 as cited ... Show more content on

Therefore, one of the distinguishing features of DHA is its interdisciplinary method that considers
a variety of different empirical data and background information (Reisigl Wodak, 2001).
The historical dimension is realized by collecting all information regarding the historical
background and the original sources of the object under investigation and exploring diachronic
change (Matouschek et al. 1995; Wodak et al., 1990, 1994 as cited in van Leeuwen Wodak,

texts. Then, describing the apparent changes. Finally, discussing the result to find how and why
change occurs since the purpose of DHA is to uncover the ideology in diachronic texts

Low interest rates and large inflows of foreign funds created easy credit conditions. Subprime

bubble resulted in quite a few homeowners refinancing their homes at lower interest rates. This led
to a building boom. Easy credit encouraged borrowers to obtain ARM. If borrowers could not make

в…Ў Explain how the subprime crisis of the US spreads to the whole world?
The subprime mortgage crisis is an ongoing financial crisis triggered by a dramatic rise in mortgage
delinquencies and foreclosures in the United States, with major adverse consequences for banks
and financial markets around the globe. Apart from the fact that banks based in other parts of the
world also suffered losses from the subprime market, there are two major ways in which the effect
is felt across the globe.
First, the US is the biggest borrower in the world since most countries hold their foreign exchange
reserves in dollars and invest them in US securities. Thus, any crisis in the US has a direct bearing
on other countries, particularly those with large reserves like Japan, China and so on.
Also, since global equity markets are closely interlinked through institutional investors, financial
crisis affecting these investors sees a contagion effect throughout the world. The panic psychology
takes over and a large number of people cash in their chips. This disturbs global financial market
further.
For emerging market countries, in the first place, the crisis derived from the setback in exports of
goods and services to the European and American countries, but not the collapse of the banking
system. People claims that the model of crisis transmission in USA is from virtual economy to real
economy, however, the harsh

Pros And Cons Of Holocaust Denial
Over 70 years ago, one of, if not the, darkest and most evil events in human history began. Starting
in 1941 and ending in 1945, up to about 11 million people (including 6 million Jews), who were
deemed sub human by the Nazi regime of Germany, were systematically rounded up and
exterminated by various means. These means included but were not limited to gas chambers,
deliberate starving, and mass shootings carried out by paramilitary groups affiliated with the Nazis
and SS (Schutzstaffel), such as the Einsatzgruppen. The holocaustis one of the best documented
events in history. Despite this, many people choose to deny the holocaust. I will be disproving
many of the arguments used by holocaust deniers.
Holocaust denial is a vehicle for Neo Nazism and Nazi apology. Holocaust denial (often called
holocaust revisionism) is the belief that what we know as the holocaust (the systematic murder of
approximately 6 million Jews) is greatly exaggerated if not totally incorrect. Holocaust deniers
believe that the number of Jews killed is closer to approximately 500 000 and that they weren t
deliberately killed through means such as gas chambers or mass shootings but were killed
(unintentionally) by starvation, disease, and Allied bombing. Holocaust deniers deny the holocaust
in an attempt to bring the Nazi regime, and Hitler himself, into favourable light. To the relatively
uninformed layman, holocaust denial can sometimes appear to be an apolitical attempt to correct or

not specify whether it takes into account inflation, paying a larger percentage of health insurance

assuming the statement to be true, is it accurate?
The data supporting a slow adoption rate for home ownership by Millennials may be due to
financial factors such as increased student loan debt upon graduation or inability to find higher wage

The alternative is to go to a sub prime lender offering high interest rates.
Home prices are skyrocketing. It s a seller s market. With higher home prices come higher down
payments and higher mortgages. It almost requires a two person income to afford a home. Entering
into a legal mortgage contract with someone who is not a significant other is dangerous. With the
prevalence of divorce, even buying a home with a life partner is risky business. The partnership
deteriorates and there goes the home because one income can t support the debt.
Assuming Millennials can overcome the financial factors working against home ownership, then
they must look at the non financial factors which are equally as rough to navigate. Start with job
mobility. If a Millennial is lucky enough to find a well paying job that will support student loan
debts and a mortgage, the job is likely non entry level within an organization. The job may
require frequent travel which would decrease time available to maintain one s house. The job
may require relocation which can be costly if the company is not picking up the cost (and fewer

The Meaning Of July Fourth For The Negro By Frederick...
What comes to mind when you think of the Fourth of July? Most people think of positive words
such as freedom and independence (maybe even fireworks and cookouts). Unfortunately, if a
slave in the 1850s was asked this same question, this person would most likely not think of such
pleasant words. Slaves did not think of this day as a celebration and instead were saddened by
the fact they did not have the freedom that the white people in America did. One of these people
is Frederick Douglass, who was born a slave and remained a slave for twenty years before
escaping from the oppression he faced. When he arrived in the North, which was where a slave
could be free, he became a great writer and speaker, and he told many about the cruelty of
slavery. One of his famous speeches, called The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro, was
given on July 5, 1852, in Rochester, New York, at an event in the Corinthian Hall. The purpose
of the event was to celebrate America s signing of the Declaration of Independence, 76 years
before. However, this was not the purpose of Douglass s speech. He instead used this opportunity
to tell the perspective of slaves on this day. Frederick Douglass hopes to inspire his audience to
see how and why the celebration of a country that allows such an immoral practice to occur is
inappropriate, and why he will instead be mourning on this holiday. In establishing this idea,
Douglass incorporates rhetorical devices that hit all three points of the rhetorical

Explain Ways To Minimise Estate Tax
Ways to minimise Estate Tax 1) Generation skipping: Generation skipping is exactly as it sounds. In
countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to
their grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This
strategy skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which
saves the assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when
transferred from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it
eventually to your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts

The Huffington Post claims that Celebrities like Rihanna, David Beckham, Angelina Jolie, and
Adam Levine, are several examples of mainstream media icons that have tattoos and openly
display them (page 1). A cultural phenomenon occurs when certain individuals behave a certain
way merely because other individuals do as well. Celebrities getting tattoos is a perfect example
of a cultural phenomenon because the celebrities are the individuals that started the trend and
then their fans start to get the same tattoos because it considered cool since the celebrities did it
first, causing a bandwagon effect. The people who are getting tattoos come from all walks of life.
The canvases are teenagers and young adults, women, African Americans, Latin Americans,
urbanites, suburbanites, white collar professionals, and the college educated. As you can tell there
is a diverse group of people that are getting tattoos, it s not just one culture getting them so
having tattooed bodies is something that is becoming more popular for all cultures and is also
becoming a trend that everyone wants to be a part of. Tattoos are a big cultural phenomenon in
today s world, because they are something that everyone can get and they are something that helps

Effects Of Industrialization
After the civil war, the United States took steps to become a more industrialized country. They
wanted to become more progressive and many people viewed this economic growth as evidence of
the superiority of the American system . The effects industrialization can be seen throughout history
between 1865 and 1914. Industrialization improved the American wayof life but also created many

There were long working hours with small pay and extremely dangerous working conditions.
Stephen Crane writes in In the Depths of a Coal Mine in August 1894 that It has only to tighten
slightly, and he is crushed like a bug....There is an insidious, silent enemy in the gas. If the huge
fan wheel on the top of the earth should stop for a brief period, there is certain
death....Meanwhile the miner gets three dollars per day, and his laborer one dollar and a
quarter. Here Crane is only describing the working life of a coal miner. He discusses how
dangerous the job is and how low the pay is. There were no safety precautions and no safety gear
or protection at all. If one small thing went wrong, you had a likely chance of dying. Many
important inventions were being invented at this time which had a profound impact of the modern
life. Thomas Edison invented over 1,000 inventions throughout his life. One of the most important
and well known inventions that changed the American way of life was the phonograph in 1877.
The phonograph was a machine with two needles: one needle was for recording sounds and the
other was for the playback. When Edison would speak into the mouthpiece, the sound vibrations of
his voice would be indented onto the cylinder by the recording needle (http:/
/www.americaslibrary.gov/aa/edison/aa_edison_phonograph_1.html). It was made to give
entertainment for the people by providing a way of listening to music. The phonograph

Introduction
Extra terrestrial planets (Exoplanets) have captivated humans for hundreds of years, the idea that
there are planets exist outside of our solar system. There are two types of planets: terrestrial
planets, or rocky planets and gas giants. With the development of high zoom telescopes and
arrays, we as a race, now have the technology to observe and recognise planets outside our solar
system. NASA missions such as Hubble and Kepler have yielded huge results for the discovery of
exoplanets, with over 3000 planets discovered as of April 2017. Scientist use multiple techniques to

Alkyl Bromide Lab Report
Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2
reaction.
Introduction
A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this
reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction
where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which
expels the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from
the back, which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that
the nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors
which are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon,
sometimes the reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is
due to steric hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be
able to attack on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reactants were 1 butanol, H2SO4 and HBr. The limiting reagent in this reaction was 1
butanol. The moles of 1 butanol that was used in this reaction were 5.00g/(74.1 g/mol)= 0.0674
moles. The percent theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result
also result in 1 mol of 1 bromobutane. The theoretical yield of the product should be 0.0674
moles. The experimental mass of the product 1 bromobutane was 3.390 g and the molar mass of
1 bromobutane is 137.0 g/mol. So, the moles of the product are 3.390g/(137.0g/mol)= 0.0247
moles. Hence, the yield of this reaction is 0.0247/0.0674x 100= 36.65%. The yield was very low
due to errors such as inconsistent heat applied during refluxing and simple distillation, error while
transferring the product from the distillate to a flask and the product could have dissolved all

World Hunger In America
The world is not caring about the more important things in life such as being thankful for what they
have and where they live, having great support systems, and being educated. All these things are
great to have in order to be successful but in the shadows are the ones who don t have the
opportunity to have those things and not having these things lead to those who end being homeless,
hungry, or resort to violence. I m here to talk about the big thing that is constantly on TV but isn t
being taken into action and that thing is worldhunger. World hunger is one of the main problems

  • 2. Apartheid In South Africa The music from the Apartheid in South Africa was extremely important in the movement for freedom. At a time when there wasn t much money for the Anti Apartheid Movement, music became the most important weapon. The songs sung all over South Africa in resistance to the Apartheid intimidated the government more than weapons and violence could because of the powerful meaning behind each song that unified and strengthened the resistance. Artists all over South Africawrote songs speaking out against the government and its cruel laws and although many of them were banned, the people of South Africa heard them and sang them to protest the rules of the government. While there are many different varieties of revolutionary music from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The earliest variations of Nkosi Sikelel Afrika , like the upbeat Masowe Apostles and the slower Marankes, inspired many artists to do the same. Some used the lyrics or melody to add to their own original songs, like the aggressive rap by Prophets of da City and Dan Moyane s fusion of the song s lyrics with the melody of Die Stem Van Suid Afrika , South Africa s national anthem during the Apartheid. Others used the song as inspiration for songs with similar lyrics, like Nkosi Yethu by Isaian Shembe and Mwari Komberera Africa by John Maranke. Despite being banned by the government, Nkosi Sikelel Afrika continued to be sung throughout the Apartheid and became so important that it was named the national anthem of South Africa at the end of the Apartheid. Although Nkosi Sikelel Afrika was originally a religious hymn, the lyrics had a very prominent political connotation. The song was not a revolutionary song in the traditional sense, but a prayer for freedom and equality. The meaning of the lyrics, shown below, called for the Lord to help the people. The seven additional verses, especially the last one, transformed the song from a religious hymn to a song calling for hope and the power to fight back. Although the words do not directly attack the government, they are much more powerful to the people of South Africa than any revolutionary song. Lord, bless Africa

Hear Thou our prayers and bless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cost-Benefit Analysis Sports is one of the largest recreational activities in canada, with over 2 million kids aged 5 to 14, took part in sports. However, our government has decreased its funding over sports. From 2014 to 2015, 201.98 million dollars were funded but from 2015 to 2016, only 196.78 milion dollars were funded on sports. Moreover, sports participation of kids is declining. Boys now are less likely to regularly participate in sports than they were back in 1992 and those who do compete are involved in fewer sports. The decline rate will continue unless our government promotes sports heavily, through schools and community sportprograms. Our governent should dedicate more money on these programs because sports are mainly promoted by such means, sports have heath benefits and sports make us smarter. Firstly, kids develop physical literacy through schools and community sport programs. According to the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD), kids from age 6 to 8 belong to stage 2 fundametals, kids from age 8 to 11 belong to stage 3 learn to train and kids from age 11 to 15 belong to stage 4 train to train. • 4. Benjamin Franklin Influence Perhaps, one of the most quotable men in the United States history is Benjamin Franklin. He was a visionary who coined multitudes of aphorisms such as, Have you something to do tomorrow? Do it today and Industry gives comfort and plenty and respect. However, his talent was not only limited to his ability to make memorable phrases, he was also a pioneer in inventions from the stove to bifocals to the lighting rod. He is a man who has become known as one of the founding fathers of the United Statesand who, to this day, graces our hundred dollar bills. Ironically enough, this man who has become engraved as an American national treasure was not always a ferment nationalist, and even felt a sense of loyalty toward the mother country of England.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed that uniting the colonies and England would lead to a stronger nation. Franklin was sure that having the crown, as a mother country, was not an ailment but rather a powerful helping hand for the colonies. In fact, as he and the colonies grew in independence and self sufficiency, Franklin and other leaders drew up a proposal to ensure their voice in legislation without being free of the power of the English. He states, By this plan the general government was to be administered by a president general, appointed and supported by the crown, a grand council was to be chosen by the representative assemblies (Franklin 102). However, the English rejected the idea and deemed it too democratic and although the proposal was not approved, Franklin still held some levels of patriotism towards Britain. Keeping in mind the high regard he held England it is no wonder he was more so inclined around the time of the Seven Years War to fight alongside the British. He was quick to come up with plans on defense and was efficient in acquiring what was needed in terms of money and defense. He worked closed with Generals and Governors, and was an instrumental part of the war. Franklin was sure to solidify his place as an American who was highly regarded by the English and in a sense might have been due to his pursue of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Chasing Heroine Should this disease have gotten this far in society? The more you engage in any type of emotion or behavior, the greater your desire for it will become. Chris Prentiss. In the documentary Chasing Heroine that was filmed on PBS Frontline, was extremely shocking to watch. This film was filmed in 2016. It followed current and former addicts, their love ones, and advocates. This documentary actually told the truth of certain things in regard to heroine. The light was shed on how the heroine was brought into history, social problems, and shame, and the system. In the documentary, heroine is nothing new, but a disease that has been brewing for a little over 30 years. Before heroine became known for a high, it was a drug called OxyContin, that was given to everyone to take away their problems. These pain problems consist of cancer patients and severe chronic pain. However, Purdue Pharma seen an opportunity to provide a new prescription called Oxy to an old drug name, but gave it an extra release long acting of pain relief. Then started advertising it on commercials for the public to view every day. Less than 1% of patient become addicted. In 2001, Pharma sold over 1 billion dollars with OxyContin over a year. Heroine started to go epic after OxyContin was tapered back from the pharmacy. Heroine was also majority of the middle class to the wealthy white men and woman population that lived in the suburban area. The pharmacy knew what they were doing, and had to pay about 600 million in fines for their neglect to the people. This epidemic was taken to the White House, but President Obama did not take it serious. Obama could care less about this epidemic, that he waited 1 year later to act. However, at this time the healthcare professionals could provide a bottle to every adult in the nation. Heroine was just not hitting the adult population, but young adults tried it too. One particular participant in the film was named Christina. She started heroine at a young age, and now been using for years. She was high while filming the documentary. There was a phrase that stuck out to me that she correlates with, this drug, it has a brain, and it shares mine. I can understand that this is a documentary about heroine, but ... Agnew Human Development and Intelligence Piaget and Vygotsky, two psychologists that throughout history have had what the present day engenderment would call unsettled beef . According to my research; and prolonged Twitter tweets and Facebook statuses on the topic; both Piaget and Vygotsky s theories/ approaches to cognitive development are both correct. Both psychology grandmasters approached their topics differently which will be elaborated upon throughout this composition. Cognitive development is Piaget s famous theory. Few but similar, Piaget and Vygotsky, two minds contemplating on the same topic from other sides of the globe had interacting thoughts. However, there are some differences too. Piaget believed that development was a stage that had to come first before learning whereas Vygotsky believed that development and learning worked together through socialization and language. • 7. ##ity And Intimacy In Ernest Hemingway s In Our Time Ernest Hemingway grasps the intimacy and authenticity of human relationships, in his book, In Our Time. The book consists of short stories following the lives of different individuals. Few of the short stories include The End of Something, Mr. and Mrs. Elliot, Cat in the Rain, and The Doctor and The Doctors Wife. Through these short stories, relationships between male and female characters, lack meaningful intimacy. There is a disconnect amongst these couples. Hemingway redefines intimacy and what it means. Intimacy goes beyond sex; it is a bond between individuals. He is depicting two forms of intimacy through his characters. One form of intimacy is emotional intimacy, which is portrayed in the male characters. The other form would be sexual intimacy. Thus, Hemingway is changing our perception of intimacy; it is not only found in male and female relationships, but also in friendships. The bond between the male characters is more meaningful and stronger than the female and male relationships. Furthermore, Hemingway explores the absence of emotional intimacy in the male and female relationships. In The Doctor and The Doctor s Wife, the couple that is portrayed are the doctor and his wife. The theme of isolation is prevalent in this story. For example, Aren t you going back to work, dear? asked the doctor s wife from the room where she was lying with the blinds drawn (Hemingway 25). From this example, it is clear that the wife is in her own room. Given another example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Impact of Lipolysis on Different Cheese Varieties Impact of Lipolysis in Different Cheese Varieties Introduction During the process of ripening, biochemical processes that take place in the cheese are the most importance factors that contribute in speedy ripening process. Other than well studied, proteolysis, most important roles in cheese ripening involves lipolysis, the fat burning process. Ripening is the main process in which development of the cheese flavor takes place. During the process of ripening a large number of sapid compounds are produced which if present in the correct ratios and concentrations lead to the best flavor development. Three processes are known that contribute in the production of these compounds, lipolysis, proteolysis and glycolysis. The flavor development in cheese depends upon the degree in which these three processes functions that play key roles in distinct differences between cheese varieties. Extent of Lipolysis in Cheese The studies have shown that the extent of lipolysis is different and varied in different kinds of cheese. Dutch type cheese has lesser extent of lipolysis to extensive lipolysis as seen in much harder, ripened Italian cheese. In the case of Emmental cheese, it is seen that only 1 2% of the lipids are hydrolyzed, and the highest being in Blue cheese (Kilcawley, and Beresford, 2004, p. 34). Lipolytic Enzymes Involved It has been highlighted that cheese with lesser amount of fatty acids is considered unripened and not mature as compared to the cheese having higher ... Technology is slowly taking away the traditional methods of learning while we adapt to the contemporary methods. High Schools now provide laptops for the students to use throughout the school year for note taking and research. Although typing notes is fast and simple on a laptop, writingthe notes forces you to slow down and address the vital information. To start off, using a laptop in class will prevent you from learning. Many people that use laptops in class to take notes are easily distracted by the worldwide web or social media. There was a survey that was taken weekly for 10 weeks that revealed what the students were doing on their laptops during class. A majority (64%) of the respondents reported using their laptops during at least one class session. They reported using their laptops to take course notes (83.3%), send email (81%), send and receive instant messages (68%), surf the internet (43%), and play games (25%). An additional 35% reported using their laptops on other non course related activities (Fisher). This study showed that the vast majority of people that used their laptop didn t not just take notes, they also used it to browse the worldwide web. • 10. The Case Of Elonis V. United States Judiciary Assignment While, reading the case, Elonis v. United States, I was astonished to see that someone would post something so explicit, offensive, and inhumane. Basically, the case of Elonis v. United States is about a man named Anthony Elonis who is an upcoming rapper and used his stage name, Tone Dougie. His Facebook page consisted of him posting disturbing rap lyrics. Even though Elonis was going through a divorce with his former wife, which did not stop him from writing and posting crude lyrics. Eventually, it got to the point where his wife felt that she was being targeted by his lyrics. According to an article on, New York Times, Elonis wrote that he wanted to see a Halloween costume that included his wife s head on a stick. Obviously, she felt threatened and reported the assaults to the police. Anthony Elonis was convicted for posting threats that targeted his wife, his coworkers, police officers, a kindergarten class, and even an FBI agent. Although Elonis argued that his posting are not considered to be a true threat and that he is protected under the First Amendment. I believe he wanted to cause fear towards his wife, Tara and therefore, is his lyrics are a true threat. Brown Chidsey and Steege quoted Dave Tilly, a school psychologist, as saying that RTI actually means really terrific instruction! RTI is defined differently in different states. Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say that it means Response to Instruction. Brown Chidsey and Steege state that whether you say intervention or instruction, it does not matter; the importance is that teachers use scientific based teaching that responds to students learning. According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS, should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction. According to the ESU10 RTI website, RTI is an educational service delivery system designed to provide effective instruction for all students using a comprehensive and preventive problem solving approach. RTI is a three tiered method of instructional delivery to meet the needs of most students. The three tiers consist of the core, targeted, and intensive. The tiers represent instructional supports. Tier one is the utilization of a researched based core instruction program. The district should implement a universal screener to check for students learning. Stephane Grappelli Research Paper StГ©phane Grappelli was a French jazz violinist who was known as the grandfather of jazz violinists because of his all string jazz band that he had begun/initiated in 1934. Grappelli was born on January 26, 1908 to Ernesto Grappelli and Anna Emilie Hanoque in Paris, France. While his father was Italian, his mother was French. Grappelli s early years were quite unfortunate. His familywas very poor. His mother died when he was four years old which left him in the hands of his father, who was later drafted to fight for Italy in World War I. • 13. Reflection Paper On Why I Want To Be A Lawyer Lawyers are often portrayed as invidious, rigid, and odious in media, as well attract an uneasy feeling in most individuals when brought up in conversation. Frequently they are at the punchline of jokes insulting their quirks. The obvious question is why would anyone want to be an attorney? In my case, I get a lot of influence from my mother who was a lawyer for twenty years. I was very proud to tell people my mom was a practicing attorney, even more so today knowing she often defended those that were unable to pay for alternative council. Another reason is I enjoy history, even when it is upsetting to learn about. My reasoning is it gives me perspective on my own life, as well as giving me hope that through this new perspective I can reflect and make a positive impact on lives including my own. I look at cases like Brown v. Board of Education and it inspires me that perhaps I could make a difference on society through the courtroom. Lastly although I may not illustrate in my classroom demeanor that I enjoy speaking in public, but when prepared I enjoy the feeling of attempting to captivate others from my speech to bend them or lean them towards my way of thinking. This isn t to say I am incapable of breaking away from opinions I have formed over the years quite the contrary, I learn the most when I listen to others speak. With regard to my mom Patricia Wengert, I draw a lot of inspiration from her to become an attorney. When she was 16 years old she became pregnant with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Motherly Love Essay Motherly Love In the three stories we read by Flannery O Connor; The Comforts of Home , Everything That Rises Must Converge , and The Enduring Chill , the major relationship portrayed was between mothers and their hypersensitive sons. While all of the major characters, the sons, were noticeably similar, the lesser characters of the mothers were also very alike in many ways. Many of their views, gestures and outward qualities paralleled throughout the stories. After rereading all of the stories again I came to the realization that the mothers O Connor wrote in her stories were variations of the same person. The boys feel that either their mother did not do a good enough job raising them or that she has disrupted the proper pace of their lives. This is apparent in all the boys but especially confusing in the case of Julian. At the beginning of the story he says he could have stood his lot better if she [his mother] had been an old hag who drank and screamed at him (5) yet later talks about how there was no reason for her to think she could always depend on him (14). While he feels that she raised him well, he does not want her to feel that he will be there for her like she seems to have been there for him. Asbury makes it very clear that he feels his mother was the unnerving force that lead to the demise of his life. Upon his death, he wanted his mother to read a letter her wrote to her about what she had done to him (91) but thought, that his mother would not understand the letter at once... he thought she would be able to see that he forgave her for all that she had done to him (91). This statement, like Julian s is not truly supported in any way. It appears in both stories that the boys mothers did everything they possible could to give their children the best of life. Thomas, on the other hand, does not feel quite as much observable loathing to his mother and says that he loved his mother. He loved her because it was his nature to do so, but there were times when he could not endure her love for him (118). Unlike the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marijuana is one of the most popular used drugs in America ranking about third after tobacco and alcohol. With that in mind, I thought it would be interesting to find out about students at Alcorn State University (ASU) and their use of marijuana. I felt it would let me see first hand how people act when smoking marijuana. I figured it would be a lot easier to observe my friends smoking marijuana because I know they would not feel uncomfortable. I was aware that students could lie on the survey and in my interview so that is why I decided to see people smoking first hand. To start out the survey I asked not to write your name just to indicate whether you were male or female. There were six males and four females. I also needed to know whether or not they smoked marijuana; there were eight out of ten students who smoke marijuana. Why do young people start to use marijuana? There are many reasons why most young people start to smoke marijuana because their friends or brothers and sisters use marijuana and pressure them to try it. In my survey five out of ten students said the reason for starting to smoke was because of their peers or older siblings. When interviewing Jada she said, I only started because of my friends, they said I would like it so I tried it, and I did. Desiree answered that question a little different replying, I watched my older brother always smoke weed and he looked like he was having fun. Since the Baltimore public transportation system was previously mentioned, readers experience a stronger sense of pathos when he mentions that the system is over 11 million dollars in debt, and facing uncertainty. He continues with the trend of pathos when describing the current situation of America s public transportation as being more than a little grim, but in the end he reaffirms that he truly wants to see improvement; Here s hoping our priorities change sometime soon. Through his article, Why Public Transportation Is So Limited in the United States , Daniel Faris uses a strong mixture of rhetorical appeals, leaning mostly toward logos. Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb the water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this, it is first necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead to polymers properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to illustrate the connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be explained, followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used to show why Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle. A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called monomers. A polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers (Smith et al., 2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made synthetically, such as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being investigated are. • 31. Examples Of Critical Discourse Analysis CHAPTER 2 THEORITICAL FOUNDATION 2.1Critical Discourse Analysis To understand the concept of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), it is necessary to see how CDA defines discourse. Discourse is not simply an isolated textual or dialogical structure (van Dijk, 1988). It is seen as socially constructed ways that do not only shape but also enable (social) reality (Foucault, 1977; Paltridge, 2006). It involves a dialectical relationship between a particular discursive event and the situation(s), institution(s), and social structure(s) which frame it (Fairclough Wodak, 1997, p. 258). It also helps to establish power relations between social classes, gender, or majorities and minorities groups (Wodak Meyer, 2009). The Cause of Global Financial Crisis в… the causes of global financial crisis 1гЂЃBoom and burst in the housing market Low interest rates and large inflows of foreign funds created easy credit conditions. Subprime lending contribute to increase the housing demand. This fueled rising house prices. This housing bubble resulted in quite a few homeowners refinancing their homes at lower interest rates. This led to a building boom. Easy credit encouraged borrowers to obtain ARM. If borrowers could not make the payments ,they would try to refinance. Refinancing became more difficult, when house prices began to decline in USA. Borrowers found themselves unable to afford higher monthly payments ,then default. This places downward pressure on housing prices. 2гЂЃSpeculation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... в…Ў Explain how the subprime crisis of the US spreads to the whole world? The subprime mortgage crisis is an ongoing financial crisis triggered by a dramatic rise in mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures in the United States, with major adverse consequences for banks and financial markets around the globe. Apart from the fact that banks based in other parts of the world also suffered losses from the subprime market, there are two major ways in which the effect is felt across the globe. First, the US is the biggest borrower in the world since most countries hold their foreign exchange reserves in dollars and invest them in US securities. Thus, any crisis in the US has a direct bearing on other countries, particularly those with large reserves like Japan, China and so on. Also, since global equity markets are closely interlinked through institutional investors, financial crisis affecting these investors sees a contagion effect throughout the world. The panic psychology takes over and a large number of people cash in their chips. This disturbs global financial market further. For emerging market countries, in the first place, the crisis derived from the setback in exports of goods and services to the European and American countries, but not the collapse of the banking system. People claims that the model of crisis transmission in USA is from virtual economy to real economy, however, the harsh ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I see the differences that you present, but what about their similarities, what makes them alike (judges and elected officials)? 2.There are many things that make us the alike. • 38. Pros And Cons Of Holocaust Denial Over 70 years ago, one of, if not the, darkest and most evil events in human history began. Starting in 1941 and ending in 1945, up to about 11 million people (including 6 million Jews), who were deemed sub human by the Nazi regime of Germany, were systematically rounded up and exterminated by various means. These means included but were not limited to gas chambers, deliberate starving, and mass shootings carried out by paramilitary groups affiliated with the Nazis and SS (Schutzstaffel), such as the Einsatzgruppen. The holocaustis one of the best documented events in history. Despite this, many people choose to deny the holocaust. I will be disproving many of the arguments used by holocaust deniers. Holocaust denial is a vehicle for Neo Nazism and Nazi apology. Holocaust denial (often called holocaust revisionism) is the belief that what we know as the holocaust (the systematic murder of approximately 6 million Jews) is greatly exaggerated if not totally incorrect. Holocaust deniers believe that the number of Jews killed is closer to approximately 500 000 and that they weren t deliberately killed through means such as gas chambers or mass shootings but were killed (unintentionally) by starvation, disease, and Allied bombing. Holocaust deniers deny the holocaust in an attempt to bring the Nazi regime, and Hitler himself, into favourable light. To the relatively uninformed layman, holocaust denial can sometimes appear to be an apolitical attempt to correct or revise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Home Ownership By Millennials Figures lie and liars figure is a quote that means people can turn numbers around to suit their agenda /purposes. Absolute salaries and/or prices may be higher today than in 1997 but that statement does not specify whether it takes into account inflation, paying a larger percentage of health insurance costs or the decrease in other benefits like relocation expenses and tuition reimbursement. So, assuming the statement to be true, is it accurate? The data supporting a slow adoption rate for home ownership by Millennials may be due to financial factors such as increased student loan debt upon graduation or inability to find higher wage jobs to meet debt to income ratios or non financial factors such as job mobility, the ability and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The alternative is to go to a sub prime lender offering high interest rates. Home prices are skyrocketing. It s a seller s market. With higher home prices come higher down payments and higher mortgages. It almost requires a two person income to afford a home. Entering into a legal mortgage contract with someone who is not a significant other is dangerous. With the prevalence of divorce, even buying a home with a life partner is risky business. The partnership deteriorates and there goes the home because one income can t support the debt. Assuming Millennials can overcome the financial factors working against home ownership, then they must look at the non financial factors which are equally as rough to navigate. Start with job mobility. If a Millennial is lucky enough to find a well paying job that will support student loan debts and a mortgage, the job is likely non entry level within an organization. The job may require frequent travel which would decrease time available to maintain one s house. The job may require relocation which can be costly if the company is not picking up the cost (and fewer companies are these days). Additionally, technology is creating a more mobile work environment meaning employees don t necessarily have to live near their places of employments any more. • 40. The Meaning Of July Fourth For The Negro By Frederick... What comes to mind when you think of the Fourth of July? Most people think of positive words such as freedom and independence (maybe even fireworks and cookouts). Unfortunately, if a slave in the 1850s was asked this same question, this person would most likely not think of such pleasant words. Slaves did not think of this day as a celebration and instead were saddened by the fact they did not have the freedom that the white people in America did. One of these people is Frederick Douglass, who was born a slave and remained a slave for twenty years before escaping from the oppression he faced. When he arrived in the North, which was where a slave could be free, he became a great writer and speaker, and he told many about the cruelty of slavery. One of his famous speeches, called The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro, was given on July 5, 1852, in Rochester, New York, at an event in the Corinthian Hall. The purpose of the event was to celebrate America s signing of the Declaration of Independence, 76 years before. However, this was not the purpose of Douglass s speech. He instead used this opportunity to tell the perspective of slaves on this day. Frederick Douglass hopes to inspire his audience to see how and why the celebration of a country that allows such an immoral practice to occur is inappropriate, and why he will instead be mourning on this holiday. In establishing this idea, Douglass incorporates rhetorical devices that hit all three points of the rhetorical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to their grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This strategy skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which saves the assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when transferred from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it eventually to your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts can be an area where you can find significant ... • 47. Alkyl Bromide Lab Report Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2 reaction. Introduction A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back, which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The percent theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result also result in 1 mol of 1 bromobutane. The theoretical yield of the product should be 0.0674 moles.
