Analysis Of Arthur Miller s Life
Since the beginning of theatre, there have been numerous playwrights who have made their
attempt at greatness. Most have failed, some have had minor success, and a slim few have
succeeded. Arthur Miller was an inventive, determined playwright who made a lasting
impression on theatre in the 20th century. He was a head strong, willful individual who
conquered obstacles when they presented themselves. Through a brief examination of Arthur
Miller s personal life, career as a playwright, and influence on theatre, it is clear to see that he
was a very innovative and impactful individual whose effects can still be seen today. Arthur
Miller s life began on October 17, 1915 in Harlem, New York when he was born to Augusta and
Isidore Miller (Arthur Miller; Arthur Miller Biography). He belonged to a middle upper class
family and enjoyed the benefits of this social class as a young boy. In the stock market crash of
1929, his life took a spin for the worse and his family lost nearly everything, leading him to live a
much different lifestyle as a teenager. However bleak his aspect on the world could ve been after
such a dramatic change, Miller didn t even slightly lose his ambition to succeed in life, but rather
gained momentum to accomplish his dreams. After graduating from high school, he labored in a
warehouse to save up money for college (Biography of Arthur Miller). The University of Michigan
became Arthur Miller s new home for the next stage of his life. He continued to

Understanding Bipolar Disorder and Evaluating the Possible...
Author J.R.R. Tolkien once said, [that] there is some good in this world, and it s [sic] worth
fighting for. But, imagine a world where you cannot see the good one day, but then the next
every single detail of life is good. In order to understand what it is like to have your emotions
throws around like they are in a hurricane, you must first understand what it is to be bipolar. If a
person would like to better understand bipolar disorder, he would have to look at the life of a
patient with the disorder, and understand the definition, causes, symptoms, and treatments for the
disorder. Understanding exactly what bipolar disorder is can be difficult, but it is best described as
a mental illness that causes severe, unpredictable mood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bipolar I disorder may be defined as experiencing severe mood swings ranging from extreme
happiness to depression, and bipolar II disorder is a milder form of bipolar I disorder.
Cyclothymic disorder is the result of hypomania followed by intense phases of depression.
Mixed bipolar disorder is one of the most intense forms of bipolar disorder since patients
experience signs of hypomania and depression at the same time, but this differs from rapid
cycling disorder because in rapid cycling patients go through four or more phases of mania and
depression in the same year (Goldberg, n.d, pp. 1, 5). Bipolar disorder may affect people of all
ages, including children, and it affects men and women equally. Finally, according to the
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), 5.7 million Americans are bipolar, and because of
this, bipolar disorder is the sixth leading cause of disability in the United States (Bipolar Disorder
Statistics, n.d, p. 1). In addition to general information on the disorder, the causes should be
mentioned as well. According to Christian Nordqvist, ...bipolar disorder has no single cause.
However, it has been determined that genetics, chemicals, and the environment play a role in the
development of bipolar disorder. Furthermore, almost half of bipolar patients have a family
member with the disorder, and a child is fifteen to twenty percent more likely to develop the
disorder if one

What Are The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech
Imagine a school free of disruptions. Free of bullying and harassment. That s what all students
and teachers want, right? Report to school every day,get a proper education. But that s not the
case in all schools. Some students are not able to learn during the school day. They may get
distracted by going off topic in class or get disturbed by what someone is wearing. If their
freedom of speech is limited, students will actually be able to learn. Freedom of speech should
have limits because it increases educationtime, it allows kids to prepare for the future, and it limits
bullyingand harassment. Firstly, freedom of speech should have limits because it increases
education time. For example, students can lose up to 38 days a year due to disruptions in class
and about 1 hour per day (Al.com). Teenagers report to schoolto get an education and learn for the
future, they do not show up at school to talk to everyone the entire day. Due of talking, they lose
class time and they do not get much done. If freedom of speech is limited students will be able to
learn more. Also if another peer is wearing something that is very distracting, this will disrupt the
class. For example, the Tinker v.s Des Moines Independent Community School District case was
about students wearing armbands to support the Vietnam War. The appearance of the armband
distracted their peers from their work. The school was able to discipline the students wearing the
bands . ( Tinker v.

Knocking Essay examples
Both Knocking by Rick Hautala and The Road Virus Heads North by Stephen King are
masterfully crafted horror stories that lead readers on a psychological rollercoaster. The authors are
able to generate such a detailed and in depth atmosphere that it causes readers to picture themselves
in the terrifying situations that they have devised for those reading. Through the evolution of
monsters , point of view and atmospheric conditions which help to create a mood that engulfs
readers both King and Hautala are able to write brilliant horrorstories.
Monsters do not have to be literal to create an enjoyable piece of horror fiction. King and Hautala
are both able to create thrilling stories by utilizing fear of the unknown and exploiting ... Show more

This is ineffective because he is paranoid about the painting and is completely consumed by the
thought of it harming him. Paranoia is terrorizing Kinnell similarly to how fear devastated Gordon
in Knocking .
King is able to turn a used concept into a phenomenal story by perfectly using the third person
point of view in The Road Virus Heads North . Encounters throughout the story are much more
interesting because King allows the reader into the other characters feelings. The third person
point of view is best exemplified during Kinnell s eventual demise. The feet coming down the hall
now, worn boot heels rapping on polished hardwood. A terrible paralysis had gripped Kinnell.
While reading this I could almost hear the way the boots would sound and I began to become tense
thinking about something coming. King used the third person point of view beautifully to
transform an already done topic into an interesting piece of horror fiction.
Like The Road Virus Heads North Hautala uses the third person point of view which makes an
already fantastic story even better. At different points throughout the story Hautala uses third
person point of view to show you just how psychotic Martin Gordon is. No! he told himself.
Mother is dead! Little quotes like this give readers a glimpse into the troubling life of Martin

Attending A Traditional Classroom Setting
I have been fortunate enough to attend college in a traditional classroom setting as well as an
online setting; I can say for my academic journey the online setting better suited my learning type.
When I graduated high school I went to a traditional university, I did not do well and ended
withdrawing and failing classes. I attended an online university a few years later and found that it
was a lot more conducive to my learningstyle. The traditional college setting may be better suited
for students that may need more structure for learning. Sitting in a classroom with a professor
telling you exactly what assignments are, and when they are due is needed for some students.
In a traditional college setting the professor will stand in front of the class and give a lecture, at
times this lecture will be far from what is needed and filled with those professors personal
opinions. Then at a time where you will be given an exam, the material was given is nothing of
what the professor lectured on. So in essence, the student will have to sit and listen to a professor
lecture and then do their own reading and research. When attending an online program, the
student is responsible for making the time to read, study, and complete the necessary work.
Myself, I cannot say that I will be able to carve out two to four hours a couple times a week to
listen to a professor speak. My opinions are harsh, but that comes from actual experiences. Logging
on and reading what I need

A Brief Summary Of Degenated Blood
The first main vessel that leaves the heart is the pulmonary artery and is the only artery that carries

Satire On Homelessness
omelessness does not discriminate; it can affect people from all walks of life no matter sex, race, or
religion. Last year alone, more than 3.5 million people experienced homelessness. Thirty five %
affecting families with children and mental illness contribute to the lowest at twenty% (Students
against Hunger). There are many different homeless population in between, such as military
veterans, children under the age of 18, and those that have experienced domestic violence just to
name a few. Homelessnessis a social problem because it depletes federal funding, increases taxes,
and can lead to criminal activity. The reaction to homelessness regarding the homeless is a social
problem in itself. It seems that Americans view homelessness as a threat to society, an
embarrassment, and sometimes one may even try to act as though the problem does not even exist.
They turn their heads in shame, disgust, pity, distaste and fear. When thinking about the
Conservative views on homelessness in my community, I immediately think about the old Symbolic
Interaction Theory, where it is believes that homelessness is a personal deficiency. According to
our text, society s individualistic culture persuades them that homelessness is a direct result of the
victims doing by lack of motivation and intelligence, as well as being responsible for their own
social standing that puts individuals in the situation of being homeless in the first place (pg.48)

Surface Area to Volume Ratio and the Relation to the Rate of Diffusion
Aim and Background
This is an experiment to examine how the Surface Area / Volume Ratio affects the rate of diffusion
and how this relates to the size and shape of living organisms.
The surface area to volume ratio in living organisms is very important. Nutrients and oxygen need
to diffuse through the cell membrane and into the cells. Most cells are no longer than 1mm in
diameter because small cells enable nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell quickly and allow
waste to diffuse out of the cell quickly. If the cells were any bigger than this then it would take too
long for the nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell so the cell would probably not ... Show

The larger blocks have a smaller surface area than the smaller blocks. The smallest block has
1.2mm squared of surface area for every 1mm cubed of volume. The largest block only has 0.2mm

able to diffuse the smallest block much faster than the largest block.
When the Surface Area/Volume Ratio goes down it takes longer for the

Wieel Wiesel Reflection
In chapter one, page fifteen, I was intrigued by the quote, I looked at my house in which I had
spent years seeking my God, fasting to hasten the coming of the Messiah, imagining what my life
would be like later. Yet I felt little sadness. My mind was empty. (Wiesel 15) This passage really
caught my attention because, in the quote it shows how affected they really were. in this quote he
s saying that, as hard as he tried to have faith in his god and pursue to the future of freedom, it gets
harder and harder to have the faith when you have nothing left. I really thought this quote was
interesting because it gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not
only were leaving everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with
them.
Page ten, chapter 1, I chose the passage, The race to death had begun. (Wiesel 10) as an important
style of writing. This quote is personifying how quickly death reached some of the Jews from
Sighet. I think this use of personification, which is the style figure of speech, is a big factor to the
text because, it enhances the amount of emotion it makes you feel while reading. In this passage,
the use of personification is a major element because it is making us feel the emotion of fear that
they all have.
While reading Chapter 1, I was challenged by the word penury, He was poor and lived in utter
penury. (Wiesel 1) In this sentence penury directly means poverty, after learning this

Falling Down Sequence
The opening sequence in the film Falling Down portrays how everyday activities can take a turn
for the worst. It begins with the main character William Foster stuck in a traffic jam on the
highway caused by construction. The first shot that opens the scene is an extreme close up of
Foster s face, which allows the audience to see him in great detail. We see by his heavy breathing
and sweat dripping down his face that he is in a hot environment. The camera starts to zoom out
and go into a tracking shot, which allows us to see the environment that surrounds him. This is
also an establishing shot. The car directly in front of Foster has a young girl starring out the back
window towards him. There is a school bus two lanes over to his right that... Show more content on

As the scene progresses, you see how each event is causing Foster s temper to rise and his patience
to grow thinner. Foster constantly plays with his AC unit, which is broken, reinforcing that the
temperature outside is hot. Another factor adding to his frustration is the fly stuck in his car. It is
buzzing around him and repeatedly landing on his neck causing him to keep swatting at it. The
usage of quick cuts gives the impression of tension building up for the character throughout the
scene. This gives off the impression that something worse is constantly happening to Foster and
he is unable to escape his uncomfortable reality. The AC breaking, window roller broken, kids
screaming, cars honking and the heat wave itself are all shown so quickly so that the viewer is
seeing that everything is being thrown at Foster at once and that he is starting to feel very
claustrophobic and cannot seem to escape it. When everything hits its peak he decides to quickly
get out of his vehicle, which serves as his escape as the music and sounds subside to a normal level
and he is now calmer and decides to just walk home

Zebra mussels are an extremely large species of mussels that are notorious for causing problems for
animals, sea creatures, and even humans. They have the ability to cling and adhere to any man
made, living, natural object, or creature when placed or growing in the acceptable conditions and
habitat. Zebra mussels have many characteristics, traits, and ways of thriving, surviving, and of
course, unknowingly creating problems for most of life on Earth. These fascinating and compelling
critters have an intriguing story to tell about how they reached the U.S. and why they generate
complications and issues for mankind and our environment. Zebra mussels were originally

traveling boats and ships. As scientists became more aware of the zebra mussels presence, they
started to realize the impact that the mussels were creating on the environment. Zebra mussels
not only hurt the earth and native mussels around them, but they also trouble endangered species
of fish or life that lives near water. Crayfish are another example of victims affected by zebra
mussels. Even though the mussels can kill and wipe out creatures in water, they supply food for
animals or birds on land. Research suggests that ducks migrate towards areas where zebra mussels

Hegemonic Masculinity And Domestic Violence
The media produces double standards by representing the act of domestic violence among athletes
differently based on the gender of the perpetrator or person committing the crime. Hegemonic
masculinity can best be described as the dominant, privileged, and often invisible category of men
at any point in history. In genderstudies, hegemonic masculinity refers to the belief in the existence
of a culturally normative ideal of malebehavior. Hegemonic masculinity posits that society strongly
encourages men to embody this kind of masculinity. Hegemonic masculinity is said to be marked
by a tendency for the male to dominate other males and subordinate females. A case can be made
for domestic violencecases in sports. Domestic violence can be used as a way for a male to show
his dominance over females and show other males not to mess with them. Men may come off as
more masculine if they beat on another girl. For females in sports it has been said that a more
masculine side is being brought out through competition. Even though I believe that domestic
violence is portrayed differently compared to male cases, females show their masculinity in
different ways. Hegemonic masculinity can be shown in females and when they use their anger in
a violent way it is a way to show that they can dominate other male or females and make them
seem more superior compared to other around them. In my paper I will be looking at how media
effects domestic violence and how it portrayed differently.

Extended Definition Of Love
Love can be very hurtful, painful, and stressful sometimes and some people really need to know
how to handle love. From my opinion love means to have the most positive feelings for someone.
Having feelings for someone is a good thing. People do not understand the full meaning of love.
The full meaning of loveis giving your all and putting trust in someone that really love certain
people. Some synonyms for love are fondness, tenderness, warmth, intimacy.
The first synonym is fondness. Fondness means caring or having the feeling for someone who are
really attached to somebody. For example some people have a fondness for their family. Another

camera and give the impression that there is a lot of action in the film. Zeffirelli, however uses
only 2 shots in his opening with slow panning from left to right, this connotes a slow, more
tranquil film. Luhrmann ignores the stereotypes of Shakespeare, so therefore he has more
freedom to portray the film in a modern way. There is a quiet string quartet playing in Zeffirelli s
opening which creates a calm atmosphere. The non diegetic music in Luhrmann s is Cammina
Burra , which is a dramatic opera and as the music crescendos, all of the snapshots become faster
and have more dramatic images like gun battles and fighting. This makes the audience realise that
the music will be connected to what is happening in the film, and the directors could use a
diminuendo to build tension during tense moments. This opera connotes the emotions anger,
despair and confusion, and because the music climaxes early on, before the audience has time to
settle into the film, suggests that the film is going to be action packed and will grab their attention
straight away. The uses of the various sizes of

Disintegration Of Civilization In Lord Of The Flies
The island was once a beautiful, civilized, land, but turned into a horrible, savage island slowly
but surely towards the end of the book. The book Lord of the Flies by William Golding has a
whole theme of disintegration of civilization. Lord of the Flies demonstrates the symbols that
William Golding used in the book to create a big theme of civilization of the boys on the island.
The symbols used in this book that mainly demonstrates disintegration of civilization is the
conch, representing civilization and order, the beast representing themselves turning savage,
and Roger, being the most savage one in the group but being less noticed in the book Ralph and
Piggy stumble upon a creamy, pretty white conch in the beginning of the story, as Piggy
suggests to use the conch to signal people on the island to communicate to everyone. They use
this technique to be civilized. The conch symbolically represents order and civilization in this
book. ...I ll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he s speaking.
(pg.33) Ralph explaining whoever had the conch in their hands had the power to speak. Ralph

Jack got angry but kept his cool. Ralph ultimately decided on some rules. The first one that I

Mrs. Ryan and the Priest Influence Jackie s Attitude To...
How do Mrs. Ryan and the priest influence Jackie s attitude to religion?
First Confession is the story of how Jackie, a seven year old boy, makes his first confession
before his first communion. The story takes place in Ireland at the beginning of the 20th century
and is based on O Connor s own childhood. It is interesting to see how two opposite characters,
Mrs. Ryan and the priest, can influence so much the kid s thoughts: Mrs. Ryan instills him fear
while the priest helps him to overcome this fear.
Mrs. Ryan is the women encharged of preparing Jackie and his class mates to take their first

He thought some of his sins were too horrible as to be confessed to a priest, and tried to bypass
confession by staying at home the day he was going to confess at school. But that wasn t enough to

Jackies second link to religion was the priest with whom he made his first confession. Jackie
immediately likes the priest as he defends him from his sister Nora the moment he meets him.
After calling Nora a vixen and Jackie a poor man and big hefty fellow , Jackie thinks he is
intelligent above ordinary , and immediately tells him his major sin. Although it takes him a while
to react, the priest seems to understand Jackie when he s told that he planned to kill his
grandmother with a kitchen knife, and shows interest in the kids plans. This makes Jackie feel
close to the priest and really comfortable, to the extent of being sorry of having to leave. He
thought he was the most interesting character he d ever met in the religious line , and leaves the
church happily and with no fear of returning.

The World Of The Classical Solar System
Last July, NASA s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto, the last unvisited world of the
classical solar system. As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway
to a new frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that
constitutes the third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the
outer gas giants.
Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the
past eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the
spacecraft s small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have
been Pluto s surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average
temperatures of only tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons
would find Pluto to be little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft
encountered a world where nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from
towering mountains of water ice. Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and
multiple moons tumble overhead through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise
and sunset.
But beyond celebrating the visceral thrill of the Pluto flyby itself, or the intellectual frisson of
gazing on full color close ups of a place so alien and faraway, most of these discoveries from New
Horizons have so far found a

Dual Relationships Essay
Geyer (1994) defines dual relationships as occurring when a mental health practitioner, relates to a
client in roles other than that of a mental health practitioner outside the therapeutic context (p.187).
Areas outside of context may include church, social gatherings, and organized events to name a
few. The term dual relationship is interchangeably used with multiple relationships or
nonprofessional relations. Corey et al. (2011) further defines this role as a professional who
assumes multiple, two or more, roles at the same time with a client. The following paper will look
to address a literature review of dual relationships along with a review of the California Association
of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT) and American Counseling Association (ACA) ethics
codes regarding the topic. I will further provide personal reflections and values as they relate to
dual relationships. In closing I will provide an ethical resolution to a hypothetical case and provide
final thoughts.
Introduction
In clinical practice it is wise for mental health professionals to monitor boundary crossing or
multiple relationships. These roles have the potential for therapist to use power inappropriately
through influence or exploitation of clients. Therefore it is essential to continually monitor the
impact of the behavior on clients (Corey et al., 2011). From ethical perspective dual relationships
in its self is not a malpractice. The legal aspect depends on the nature of the relationships.

The Big Issue of Piracy
Piracy
Piracy is a big issue in the gaming industry and is happening all the time and companies are
trying their best to get rid of this issue. The problem with trying to get rid of this issue is that there
will always be people figuring out loopholes in the defense of piracy.
There are some smart people who make a lot of money pirating items such as Movies for making
money. There are people who have made millions of dollars using this illegal way to steal what is
not theirs. Most of the time piracy does not impact the consumer because the most popular form
of piracy is downloading music. People pirate items for to get a cheaper price out of things or to
sell to another person for a higher price then what they pirated it for. If a company s product is
being Pirated one solution they might try is to stop making new products for release or they
might take disciplinary action and get the police involved. Pirating is a very scummy way to
make money and it really hurts the company that made the product. Piracy is not good for the
economy and it hurts more than you can imagine. The people that use piracy are usually very
poor and doing it to make money to support themselves and their family. I ve seen my friend
illegally download music and it really made me sad because I know in the end my friend is going to
get hurt in one way or the other. Piracy can happen in many forms but usually happens as a video

Hitler s Policy Of Appeasement
There was not one single cause that started World War II, but instead a result of several different
factors. The Treaty of Versailles was excessively harsh and angered the Germany people, The
Great Depression resulted in European Nations not have the resources to prepare an army, Hitler s
dream of making Germany a global power and the futile Policy of Appeasement were all factors
that caused World War II.
Although multiple factors contributed to the start of WW2, Hitler s agenda was the most
prominent factor in starting WW2. Hitler always wanted to go to war regardless of other things
happing around him. Hitler s rhetoric during the 1920s had made it clear that, should he come to
power, Germany would set about rearming. (H.P. Willmott, R. Cross, C. Messenger (2010) p. 28)
As early as the 1920s Hitler was planning to go to war, which is a clear indicator that Hitler s
agenda was always going to cause a war. Adolf Hitlerturned his attention to three foreign policy
goals. Second, Germany should be restored to its rightful place as the strongest European power,
and a Greater Germany should be created. (H.P. Willmott, R. Cross, C. Messenger (2010) p. 28)
Hitler wanted to make Germany the strongest European power, and the only way that was going to
happen was through war. The combination of Hitler s announcements of rearming and the idea that
one of his key goals was to make Germany the strongest European power demonstrate that Hitler s
agenda was to go to war, leading to

Automotive Aftermarket Analysis
Automotive Aftermarket Analysis
Industry Definition
The automotive aftermarket is a large contributor to the U.S. economy employing nearly 4.6
million people. New replacement automotive parts such as alternators, brakes, lights, bumpers,
fenders, and so on, are parts referred to as aftermarket or functionally equivalent parts when made
by a company other than the original car manufacturer (Ford, Chrysler, Chevrolet, and others). This
industry sells automotive parts and other products used to maintain or repair light and heavy duty
vehicles. Products are sold both to consumers who repair or accessorize their own vehicles, the do
it yourselfers (DIY) and to professional service stations or installers like gas stations, auto repair ...

Proprietary information has decreased the power of buyers as well as the power of sellers in the
aftermarket automotive industry. As the automotive industry becomes more advanced with the use
of computers and special tools the independent repair shops and consumer are losing the ability to
make repairs and replace parts. The information needed to work with the computers and special
tools is held by these specialty manufacturers. They continue to withhold any information in an
effort to capitalize not only on the sale of an automobile but also the repair. This disadvantage
which is created by the automobile manufacturers is being fought on Capitol Hill. The Right to
Repair act has been gaining support in an effort to make this proprietary information public and
give the consumer the opportunity to purchase these items in a competitive market.
Power of Suppliers
Large suppliers like Delphi, Johnson Controls and Visteon, and many thousands of smaller
suppliers and manufacturers make parts for auto companies under new vehicle programs and
also make replacement parts specifically for the aftermarket retailers and wholesalers. A
wholesaler/retailer typically buys from 200 to 300 vendors. Production programs for new cars
typically include 5 to 10 percent of production that goes to the aftermarket. Long term supply
contracts are rare, and in most cases, several suppliers are available for any particular product
(Hoovers, 2008).

The Is An Integral Part National Security
Cybersecurity is an integral part national security. Cyber attacks are increasing in frequency and
success and can target virtually anything connected to a network. These threats can affect everyday
activities such as talking on a cell phone, driving a car, riding a train, shopping, or flying. They
can also affect the highest levels of our country s government, from a Secretary of State s email
server to the data base of millions of government and military employees. Nearly everything these
days is digital. That simple fact means that everything digital is vulnerable. From military
technology to a child monitor, the cybersecurity is paramount to national security, because if it can
be used to destroy or disrupt, an adversary will try to employ it in their favor.
Cybersecurity and US National Security Policy
The idea of cyber security actually originated following the Cold War, when technological
innovations were becoming more and more computerized and the threat of a digital Pearl Harbor
or the use of weapons of mass disruption were talking points of politicians and tech specialists
(Hansen, L., Nissenbaum, H., 2009, p. 1155). Modern society and specifically the US, as one of the
most technologically advanced nations in the world, is built on a system dependent on electronics,
telecommunications, energy, and a financial system heavily dependent on the internet, servers, and
connectivity (de Laat, W., 2012, p. 453). There is almost no such thing as stand alone

Objective Of The American Dream
American dream focuses on the democracy, liberty, rights, equality, and opportunities. All
people should have the opportunity to prosperity and social mobility as well as success. No one
deserves discrimination irrespective of their background, race or religious belief among others.
People should have the right to achieve their objectives without or with minimum barriers. James
Adams defined the American dream by stating that Americans should have a richer and fuller life
supplied with opportunities for all according to their ability and achievements. The Americans
have a bigger part of the American dream achieved. However, some part of the dream seems to
drag behind and look unachievable in the near future. The American dream needs a strong
intervention to achieve the intended objective of the American dream (Jillson, 2016). In reference
to what has happened to the country since 1931, Americans are proud of the American dream. It
started with the giving women equal rights as men. Women proved to the country on their ability
to lead and deliver quality work like men and beyond men. The slaves and people of color got the
rights to own properties (Dhanam, 2011). They also got the right for their desired leaders.
Eventually, they got the right to vie for elective positions. This paves way for the Former President
Obama, an African American. American dream created opportunities for all people to gather and
manage their wealth. All people got equal opportunities for wealth

Adrienne Rich Education Rich Analysis
Poet Adrienne Rich gave an inspiring speech during a convocation at Douglass College in 1977.
Even though this was quite a few decades ago, her words are still relevant today. Education is still
not taken as seriously as it should be and this is disappointing because it is the most important tool
that leads to a successful life. Rich s speech describes how to claim an educationrather than simply
receive one, and this is something that all students need to take into consideration.
Most students take a passive approach to their education. In other words, they do the bare minimum
needed in order to get by and receive their diploma. However, what they don t understand is that this
is hurting them more than helping them. From what I read in the posts from my fellow ... Show

Persuasive Essay On Cloning Pros And Cons
For a while now, the family had known that their dog would pass away. But as the months stretched

Of course, the clone wouldn t be exactly the same, but as the years pass by, who knows what might

First and foremost, cloning and genetic modification has the most promise of curing and
eliminating genetic diseases. Genetic diseases are a misfortune in human society, with diseases like
sickle cell anemia and several kinds of cancer causing death and suffering around the world. For
example, in the article, Engineering the Better Baby: Benefits and Dangers , the author states
that, The world is plagued with hereditary diseases that cause very real misery... it is absurd to
think that genetic engineering will not be used to eliminate them (1). This presents the idea that
while genetic engineering has a bad reputation in fiction, the scientific community would be
using it to remove dangerous diseases rather than create a bird human hybrid with wings and
special powers or a dog that can fly and lift heavy objects. These creations, while cool sounding,
would not be possible with the lack of genetic knowledge that researchers have now. They can
barely clone a dog, let alone create one that can fly. Moreover, the knowledge gained from
modification and cloning can be used to save lives. Because of their uses in stem cell research,
pharmaceuticals, and the study of diseases like cancer, doing things such as cloning an embryo
and removing chances of disease would be a huge benefit to humans. If people were able to be
healthier, they d live longer, happier lives and not need to spend money on expensive treatments for
incurable diseases. To illustrate, when Arthur Caplan states, Pressure from parents seeking to
prevent their children and grandchildren from suffering will undoubtedly overwhelm concerns
about the possibility that others will use the same technology to build superkids... the sick should

The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States
Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have
shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated
registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans
from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass
unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot.
Certain demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including
young people, poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an
excuse to systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic
process, despite being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The
limiting of votingrights for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated.
Continuing to pile restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is
contradictory to democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation
towards expanding the ways in which citizens can participate in electionsand away from limiting
them, which would both increase voter turnoutand ensure that all people have an equal voice in our
government.
Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters has a long
history in United States

Raft Of The Medusa And The World Is Too Much With Us

Romanticism
Romanticism emerged in the 18th 19th centuries (primarily in opposition to Neo Classism) as a
way to express, as Victor Hugo said, liberalism in literature. The Romantic way of thinking
emphasized freedom from rules, and individuality. Many works of art and pieces of literature were
made following this theme, among them the painting, Raft of the Medusa and the poem the The
World is too Much with us .
The Raft of the Medusa is a painting done by Theodore Gericault in the 1800s. It is modeled after
the tragedy that was the shipwreck of the French naval frigate, MГ©duse, and it depicts the
survivors who were adrift on the raft.
The poem, The World is too much with us is a sonnet written by the Englishman William
Wordsworth in 1802. The composition is a romantic and satirical piece criticizing the people of the
modern world for their materialistic values and their disregarding of nature.
Both of these works are the epitome of Romanticism, as they both highlight the focal points of
Romantic thought; interest in the common man, strong senses and emotions, awe of nature,
celebration of the individual, and the importance of imagination.
The Romantics enjoy the struggle of the common man , and judging by the attire of the men on the
Raft of the Medusa , they are peasants just poor, everyday guys. These men have been subjected to
this terrible fate by the actions of those more fortunate

Most have failed, some have had minor success, and a slim few have succeeded. Arthur Miller was an inventive, determined playwright who made a lasting impression on theatre in the 20th century. He was a head strong, willful individual who conquered obstacles when they presented themselves. Through a brief examination of Arthur Miller s personal life, career as a playwright, and influence on theatre, it is clear to see that he was a very innovative and impactful individual whose effects can still be seen today. Arthur Miller s life began on October 17, 1915 in Harlem, New York when he was born to Augusta and Isidore Miller (Arthur Miller; Arthur Miller Biography). He belonged to a middle upper class family and enjoyed the benefits of this social class as a young boy. In the stock market crash of 1929, his life took a spin for the worse and his family lost nearly everything, leading him to live a much different lifestyle as a teenager. However bleak his aspect on the world could ve been after such a dramatic change, Miller didn t even slightly lose his ambition to succeed in life, but rather gained momentum to accomplish his dreams. After graduating from high school, he labored in a warehouse to save up money for college (Biography of Arthur Miller). • 4. Understanding Bipolar Disorder and Evaluating the Possible... Author J.R.R. Tolkien once said, [that] there is some good in this world, and it s [sic] worth fighting for. But, imagine a world where you cannot see the good one day, but then the next every single detail of life is good. In order to understand what it is like to have your emotions throws around like they are in a hurricane, you must first understand what it is to be bipolar. If a person would like to better understand bipolar disorder, he would have to look at the life of a patient with the disorder, and understand the definition, causes, symptoms, and treatments for the disorder. Understanding exactly what bipolar disorder is can be difficult, but it is best described as a mental illness that causes severe, unpredictable mood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bipolar I disorder may be defined as experiencing severe mood swings ranging from extreme happiness to depression, and bipolar II disorder is a milder form of bipolar I disorder. Cyclothymic disorder is the result of hypomania followed by intense phases of depression. Mixed bipolar disorder is one of the most intense forms of bipolar disorder since patients experience signs of hypomania and depression at the same time, but this differs from rapid cycling disorder because in rapid cycling patients go through four or more phases of mania and depression in the same year (Goldberg, n.d, pp. 1, 5). Bipolar disorder may affect people of all ages, including children, and it affects men and women equally. Finally, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), 5.7 million Americans are bipolar, and because of this, bipolar disorder is the sixth leading cause of disability in the United States (Bipolar Disorder Statistics, n.d, p. 1). In addition to general information on the disorder, the causes should be mentioned as well. According to Christian Nordqvist, ...bipolar disorder has no single cause. However, it has been determined that genetics, chemicals, and the environment play a role in the development of bipolar disorder. Furthermore, almost half of bipolar patients have a family member with the disorder, and a child is fifteen to twenty percent more likely to develop the disorder if one ... • 7. What Are The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech Imagine a school free of disruptions. Free of bullying and harassment. That s what all students and teachers want, right? Report to school every day,get a proper education. But that s not the case in all schools. Some students are not able to learn during the school day. They may get distracted by going off topic in class or get disturbed by what someone is wearing. If their freedom of speech is limited, students will actually be able to learn. Freedom of speech should have limits because it increases educationtime, it allows kids to prepare for the future, and it limits bullyingand harassment. Firstly, freedom of speech should have limits because it increases education time. For example, students can lose up to 38 days a year due to disruptions in class and about 1 hour per day (Al.com). Teenagers report to schoolto get an education and learn for the future, they do not show up at school to talk to everyone the entire day. Due of talking, they lose class time and they do not get much done. If freedom of speech is limited students will be able to learn more. Also if another peer is wearing something that is very distracting, this will disrupt the class. For example, the Tinker v.s Des Moines Independent Community School District case was about students wearing armbands to support the Vietnam War. The appearance of the armband distracted their peers from their work. The school was able to discipline the students wearing the bands . ( Tinker v. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The authors are able to generate such a detailed and in depth atmosphere that it causes readers to picture themselves in the terrifying situations that they have devised for those reading. Through the evolution of monsters , point of view and atmospheric conditions which help to create a mood that engulfs readers both King and Hautala are able to write brilliant horrorstories. Monsters do not have to be literal to create an enjoyable piece of horror fiction. King and Hautala are both able to create thrilling stories by utilizing fear of the unknown and exploiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is ineffective because he is paranoid about the painting and is completely consumed by the thought of it harming him. Paranoia is terrorizing Kinnell similarly to how fear devastated Gordon in Knocking . King is able to turn a used concept into a phenomenal story by perfectly using the third person point of view in The Road Virus Heads North . Encounters throughout the story are much more interesting because King allows the reader into the other characters feelings. The third person point of view is best exemplified during Kinnell s eventual demise. The feet coming down the hall now, worn boot heels rapping on polished hardwood. A terrible paralysis had gripped Kinnell. While reading this I could almost hear the way the boots would sound and I began to become tense thinking about something coming. King used the third person point of view beautifully to transform an already done topic into an interesting piece of horror fiction. Like The Road Virus Heads North Hautala uses the third person point of view which makes an already fantastic story even better. At different points throughout the story Hautala uses third person point of view to show you just how psychotic Martin Gordon is. No! he told himself. Mother is dead! Little quotes like this give readers a glimpse into the troubling life of Martin Gordon and effectively allow for you to connect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Attending A Traditional Classroom Setting I have been fortunate enough to attend college in a traditional classroom setting as well as an online setting; I can say for my academic journey the online setting better suited my learning type. When I graduated high school I went to a traditional university, I did not do well and ended withdrawing and failing classes. I attended an online university a few years later and found that it was a lot more conducive to my learningstyle. The traditional college setting may be better suited for students that may need more structure for learning. Sitting in a classroom with a professor telling you exactly what assignments are, and when they are due is needed for some students. In a traditional college setting the professor will stand in front of the class and give a lecture, at times this lecture will be far from what is needed and filled with those professors personal opinions. Then at a time where you will be given an exam, the material was given is nothing of what the professor lectured on. So in essence, the student will have to sit and listen to a professor lecture and then do their own reading and research. When attending an online program, the student is responsible for making the time to read, study, and complete the necessary work. Myself, I cannot say that I will be able to carve out two to four hours a couple times a week to listen to a professor speak. My opinions are harsh, but that comes from actual experiences. • 11. Satire On Homelessness omelessness does not discriminate; it can affect people from all walks of life no matter sex, race, or religion. Last year alone, more than 3.5 million people experienced homelessness. Thirty five % affecting families with children and mental illness contribute to the lowest at twenty% (Students against Hunger). There are many different homeless population in between, such as military veterans, children under the age of 18, and those that have experienced domestic violence just to name a few. Homelessnessis a social problem because it depletes federal funding, increases taxes, and can lead to criminal activity. The reaction to homelessness regarding the homeless is a social problem in itself. It seems that Americans view homelessness as a threat to society, an embarrassment, and sometimes one may even try to act as though the problem does not even exist. Surface Area to Volume Ratio and the Relation to the Rate of Diffusion Aim and Background This is an experiment to examine how the Surface Area / Volume Ratio affects the rate of diffusion and how this relates to the size and shape of living organisms. The surface area to volume ratio in living organisms is very important. Nutrients and oxygen need to diffuse through the cell membrane and into the cells. Most cells are no longer than 1mm in diameter because small cells enable nutrients and oxygen to diffuse into the cell quickly and allow waste to diffuse out of the cell quickly. Wieel Wiesel Reflection In chapter one, page fifteen, I was intrigued by the quote, I looked at my house in which I had spent years seeking my God, fasting to hasten the coming of the Messiah, imagining what my life would be like later. Yet I felt little sadness. My mind was empty. (Wiesel 15) This passage really caught my attention because, in the quote it shows how affected they really were. in this quote he s saying that, as hard as he tried to have faith in his god and pursue to the future of freedom, it gets harder and harder to have the faith when you have nothing left. I really thought this quote was interesting because it gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not only were leaving everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with them. Page ten, chapter 1, I chose the passage, The race to death had begun. (Wiesel 10) as an important style of writing. This quote is personifying how quickly death reached some of the Jews from Sighet. I think this use of personification, which is the style figure of speech, is a big factor to the text because, it enhances the amount of emotion it makes you feel while reading. In this passage, the use of personification is a major element because it is making us feel the emotion of fear that they all have. While reading Chapter 1, I was challenged by the word penury, He was poor and lived in utter penury. (Wiesel 1) In this sentence penury directly means poverty, after learning this ... Hegemonic Masculinity And Domestic Violence The media produces double standards by representing the act of domestic violence among athletes differently based on the gender of the perpetrator or person committing the crime. Hegemonic masculinity can best be described as the dominant, privileged, and often invisible category of men at any point in history. In genderstudies, hegemonic masculinity refers to the belief in the existence of a culturally normative ideal of malebehavior. Hegemonic masculinity posits that society strongly encourages men to embody this kind of masculinity. Hegemonic masculinity is said to be marked by a tendency for the male to dominate other males and subordinate females. A case can be made for domestic violencecases in sports. Domestic violence can be used as a way for a male to show his dominance over females and show other males not to mess with them. Men may come off as more masculine if they beat on another girl. For females in sports it has been said that a more masculine side is being brought out through competition. Even though I believe that domestic violence is portrayed differently compared to male cases, females show their masculinity in different ways. Hegemonic masculinity can be shown in females and when they use their anger in a violent way it is a way to show that they can dominate other male or females and make them seem more superior compared to other around them. Zeffirelli, however uses only 2 shots in his opening with slow panning from left to right, this connotes a slow, more tranquil film. It is difficult to balance extracurricular activities, family and friends, and a part time job while staying on top of schoolwork. Unfortunately, out of these five things, it is schoolwork that suffers the most. I was one of these students. I was a cheerleader all four years of high school and I was involved in numerous clubs and organizations. I also worked 3 4 shifts a week as a waitress from my sophomore to senior year. I started out taking all honors/AP classes my freshman year but the more clubs and activities I became involved in, the less advanced classes I was taking. I did not take advantage of the free education I was given and I didn t realize how big of a deal it was that I was offered college classes in high school. I was more than capable of taking the higher level classes, but I was just too lazy. I regret the decisions I made and I always encourage my family and friends that are still in grade school to take all of the classes they can because it will pay off. I did not have anyone encouraging me to go the extra mile so I simply just didn t. I have always been surrounded by people that believe that men are superior to women, ... • 36. Persuasive Essay On Cloning Pros And Cons For a while now, the family had known that their dog would pass away. But as the months stretched out and they researched their options, they came to the conclusion that it would be happier to have him rest in peace. However, the recent discoveries and experiments in the genetic research field had caught their attention, and they decided to put the time and hope into letting their pup live again. Of course, the clone wouldn t be exactly the same, but as the years pass by, who knows what might happen? Many years ago, cloningwas a thing of the distant future. As of today, people are paying to have pets cloned and are trying to explore the new frontier of genetic science. The articles Cloning Embryos: Scientific Milestone or Moral Offense by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First and foremost, cloning and genetic modification has the most promise of curing and eliminating genetic diseases. Genetic diseases are a misfortune in human society, with diseases like sickle cell anemia and several kinds of cancer causing death and suffering around the world. For example, in the article, Engineering the Better Baby: Benefits and Dangers , the author states that, The world is plagued with hereditary diseases that cause very real misery... it is absurd to think that genetic engineering will not be used to eliminate them (1). This presents the idea that while genetic engineering has a bad reputation in fiction, the scientific community would be using it to remove dangerous diseases rather than create a bird human hybrid with wings and special powers or a dog that can fly and lift heavy objects. These creations, while cool sounding, would not be possible with the lack of genetic knowledge that researchers have now. They can barely clone a dog, let alone create one that can fly. Moreover, the knowledge gained from modification and cloning can be used to save lives. Because of their uses in stem cell research, pharmaceuticals, and the study of diseases like cancer, doing things such as cloning an embryo and removing chances of disease would be a huge benefit to humans. If people were able to be healthier, they d live longer, happier lives and not need to spend money on expensive treatments for incurable diseases. To illustrate, when Arthur Caplan states, Pressure from parents seeking to prevent their children and grandchildren from suffering will undoubtedly overwhelm concerns about the possibility that others will use the same technology to build superkids... the sick should not be held hostage to the worries about possible dangers or abusers (2), which expresses how the needs of ... • 40. The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including young people, poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an excuse to systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic process, despite being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of votingrights for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is contradictory to democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation towards expanding the ways in which citizens can participate in electionsand away from limiting them, which would both increase voter turnoutand ensure that all people have an equal voice in our government. Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters has a long history in United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Decreasing this amount of whales could cause critical damage to the climate and the health of the ecosystem. Therefore, commercial whaling should be banned because whales could become extinct and can also stop the process of making the ocean better for other animals. By over whaling, the increase of commercial whaling would also increase in one rapid movement, causing whales to be extinct and will cause the water to be contaminated and worse into the future. • 42. Raft Of The Medusa And The World Is Too Much With Us Aishah Tasneem October 20, 2015 Muharram 7, 1437 Fareeda Abdur Rahman Romanticism Romanticism emerged in the 18th 19th centuries (primarily in opposition to Neo Classism) as a way to express, as Victor Hugo said, liberalism in literature. The Romantic way of thinking emphasized freedom from rules, and individuality. Many works of art and pieces of literature were made following this theme, among them the painting, Raft of the Medusa and the poem the The World is too Much with us . The Raft of the Medusa is a painting done by Theodore Gericault in the 1800s. It is modeled after the tragedy that was the shipwreck of the French naval frigate, MГ©duse, and it depicts the survivors who were adrift on the raft. The poem, The World is too much with us is a sonnet written by the Englishman William Wordsworth in 1802. The composition is a romantic and satirical piece criticizing the people of the modern world for their materialistic values and their disregarding of nature. Both of these works are the epitome of Romanticism, as they both highlight the focal points of Romantic thought; interest in the common man, strong senses and emotions, awe of nature, celebration of the individual, and the importance of imagination. The Romantics enjoy the struggle of the common man , and judging by the attire of the men on the Raft of the Medusa , they are peasants just poor, everyday guys. These men have been subjected to this terrible fate by the actions of those more fortunate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
