Profile Essay On A Person
Crafting an essay on the theme of profiling a person can be a challenging endeavor. The
complexity arises from the need to present a comprehensive and engaging portrait of the
individual, capturing not just the superficial aspects but delving into the deeper layers of their
character, experiences, and impact. The task demands a keen observational eye, adept
interviewing skills, and the ability to weave together a narrative that is both informative and
captivating.
To begin with, extensive research is essential to gather information about the person's
background, achievements, challenges, and the unique elements that define them. This phase
involves scouring various sources, conducting interviews, and meticulously documenting details
to ensure accuracy. The challenge lies in distilling a vast amount of information into a coherent
and organized structure, avoiding the trap of overwhelming the reader with too many details or
losing their interest with too few.
Furthermore, the writing process requires a delicate balance between objectivity and subjectivity.
While presenting facts and accomplishments is crucial, infusing the essay with a personal touch
is equally important to make the subject relatable and human. Striking this balance can be a
tightrope walk, as too much personal bias may compromise the credibility of the essay, while too
little emotion can result in a dry and uninspiring narrative.
Crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion adds another layer of complexity. The
introduction should grab the reader's attention and set the tone for the essay, while the
conclusion needs to leave a lasting impression, offering insights or reflections that resonate
beyond the mere presentation of facts. Achieving this balance requires a thoughtful and strategic
approach to the framing of ideas.
In summary, writing a profile essay on a person involves navigating through a maze of
information, emotions, and storytelling techniques. It requires a combination of research,
empathy, and literary finesse. Each sentence must contribute to the overarching narrative,
creating a vivid and authentic portrayal of the individual. While the process may be challenging,
the end result is a testament to the writer's ability to capture the essence of a person's life and
character in a compelling and thought-provoking manner.

The Way Of Life Has Forever Changed
The way of life has forever changed. Living like our parents did is not an option for
the technology thirsty current economy. We have become so dependent on
technology and its advances that without it, we simply would not be able to
function. If every computer and computer system suddenly crashed or stopped
working it would be pure chaos, every nuclear facility would become
uncontrollable, and there would be numerous toxic meltdowns, airplanes would fall
from the sky, trains and cars and other forms of transportation would be unusable,
communications would stop, electricity would go out, people would die (Dilard,
2014). These systems are so vital to the way we function as a society that to think of
life without them is comical. Networks and systems are so vital to business and
society that special positions and roles are needed to ensure they are maintained and
operate. Network administrator and system administrators are more important and
demanding roles than an average user would think. Users can go weeks, possibly
even months without having to phone their administrators for help, but this is not
due to no issues, this is due to administrators actively doing their job. Networks are
only as good as their admins perform, the overall structure and integrity of a network
lies in the hands of network and system administrators. Without these unsung heroes
patching and protecting our digital frontier, our networks would be susceptible to any
number of cyber attacks
Impairment Compliance
Group I, Category 41 Insufficient Medical Documentation to Determine
Impairment Severity ISSUE Additional evidence and documentation is needed to
determine the degree of the severity imposed by the claimant s psychological
condition. CASE DISCUSSION POLICY ANALYSIS (INCLUDING SPECIFIC
REFERENCES) This 55 year old claimant is filing a DIB claim alleging disability
due to migraines without aura, typical aura with migraines, migraines with basilar
type aura, sporadic hemiplegic migraines, bell s palsy, atypical chest pain, silent
myocardial infarction, sleep apnea and seizure like activity. The evidence in file
shows the claimant has a history of migraines since 2009. An office note on 06/24/16
states that claimant has multiple type of migraine headaches including typical
migraine with and without aura; migraine with basilar type aura; and occasional
hemiplegic migraine. The claimant s EEG shows bitemporal slowing, which may...

However, it is unclear whether the headaches have persisted at the noted on the
office visit on 1/14/14. A more complete longitudinal record is needed to determine
whether the claimant s headache frequency remained at listing level for at least 12
months despite treatment. If the headache frequency described in the 06/24/16
progress note can be confirmed back to the AOD, the intent of listing 11.03 would be
satisfied. DI 24505.015.B2. indicates if the claimant has an impairment not described
in the listing of impairments we will compare their findings with those for closely
analogous listed impairments. If the findings related to the claimant s impairment are
at least of equal medical significance to those of a listed impairment, we determine
their impairment is medically equivalent to the most closely analogous listing. In this
case, the findings of the claimant s impairment are very similar to those of 11.03.

Examples Of How The Grinch Stole Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas!!In the movie by Dr. Seuss, the Grinch is portrayed
as the villain. Why? Because he s a nasty, coldhearted creature that hates
Christmas. But there is a reason for loathing the Christmas season. The Grinch plots
to steal the joy and cheer of Christmas time away from the Whos in Who ville.Which
he equally hates as much as the happy celebrations. As a child, the Grinchwas rejected
by the Who ville community. He was made fun of and disliked by everybody, so he
lived secluded up in the icy, gloomy mountains for his entire life.
The Grinch actually enjoyed Christmas as a kid; he had a crush on Martha May, who
is now with the Mayor. However, the Mayor used taunt the Grinch about his crush on

The Man That Was Used Up And Secondly By Edgar Allen
Poe
The media has constructed many interesting characters based on stereotypes. The
stereotypes that come with gender are no exception to this categorization of types . I
will be examining two completely opposing characters. Firstly, John Smith ABC
from Edgar Allen Poe s short story, The Man that was Used Up and secondly, Homer
Simpsonfrom the extremely popular television series, The Simpsons. Arguably,
through these two characters, we can see how, t the end of the day, men are
portrayed as no less successful in their social life than when the story began
regardless of their flaws, mistakes or personalities. One would think that media
would reflect how actual people in real situations would react to certain flaws.
However, when compared to General John A. B. C., whom everyone likes and
admires, for his flaw, Homer Simpson doesn t exactly pass the test for whom
people might consider likeable . He is extremely stupid, and often referred to as a
young child, mainly one around the ages of 5 and 7. He is lazy, rude and ignorant
and to make things worse, has a highly addictive personality, from donuts to beer, to
krusty burgers. His incessant need for attention and his continual ill consideration for
everyone around him, in the real world, would make him a highly unlikeable
character. However, he is continually successful in his social life and seems to have
an outstanding number of friends and acquaintances. Homer is unlike the General
John ABC, who is highly admired and
IBM DB2 vs Oracle Essay
For this week s paper I have chosen to do a comparison between IBM s DB2
database management system (DBMS) product and Oracle. Realistically, making
such a comparison is akin to discussing religion with friends. Each person will have
their own biases based on their own experiences. Looking for an unbiased opinion is
much like looking for the Holy Grail, every bit as speculative and subjective with the
results jaundiced by the outlook of the reporter (Lim, 2002).
A decision between DB2 and Oracle should be based on what resources are available
for use at the site. Is there specific hardware or software already onsite that can or
will be used in the installation, if so this will have a major impact on the decision
making process. Does the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oracle 9i comes in three versions enterprise, standard, and personal. Oracle also
requires the following patch levels on Windows operating systems (OS) for

none needed. Oracle 9i is also available for HP AIX, Compaq Tru64 Unix, Linux, and
Sun Solaris (Chigrik, 2003).
The DB2 Universal Database v8.1 comes in six flavors, DB2 Enterprise Server

DB2 Personal Edition, DB2 Universal Developers Edition, and DB2 Personal

OS it is installed on. Windows NT, sp 6a; Windows 2000, sp 2 is required for
terminal services; Windows XP, none. As with Oracle, DB2 is also available for the
following UNIX based OS s, AIX, Linux, Sun Solaris, and adds support for HP UX
(Chigrik, 2003).
Performing a flat out performance comparison between these two RDBMS is
difficult mostly because both can be used to build a stable and efficient system.
Most of the difference in performance can usually be traced back to the developer
and the administrators for the respective systems. But, that said, a direct comparison
is possible once a set of typical transactions have been defined, that can then be run
under the different DBMS on different hardware and software platforms (Chigrik,
2003).

Catalase Experiment
Discussion: According to the experiment, the highest reaction rate occurred when the
enzyme, Catalase, was 50% concentrated (see Fig.3). However, all of the rates were
fairly similar no matter the concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration.
That test resulted in no production of Oxygen because there was no enzymefor the
Hydrogen peroxideto react to so nothing occurred in the testing container (see Fig.
1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from 0% concentration
all produced very similar amounts of Oxygeneven though there was not as much of
the enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration.
The water took the place of a portion of the enzyme, or all of it, to keep a constant
volume of enzyme mixture and to see how changing the amount enzymes.... Show

We used this information to form our hypothesis, which was that the 100%
concentration test would have the highest reaction rate because the more enzyme is
the more active sites there are, so more reactions can occur, and the the Hydrogen
peroxide will be decomposed faster, giving it a higher rate. However, the results of
our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the test that resulted in
the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this
occurred. The sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear
growth between concentration and rate, which supports our hypothesis. Fig. 2 shows
that the reaction rate plateaus towards the end of the 50 seconds, but this is because
of the limited and constant amount of substrate, so it slowed down when the
Hydrogen peroxide ran out. Our data did not support our hypothesis, but the class
source support our

How To Build Suspension Bridges
Introduction: Bridges are constructed to withstand the forces of
compression, tension, shearing, and torsion in a variety of ways. These consist of I
beams , steel , arches, truss s, bounded steel(suspension bridges) and even beams.
Compression is the act when an object is being compressed or compressing , while
tension is when an object is being stretched. Shearing in a bridgeis when the bridge
begins to bend , suspension bridgescombat it very well. If built incorrectly bridges can

Since a triangle shape experiences no push or pull it can withstand the tension
provided by bridges. The large openings in a truss allows wind to pass through the
structure with ease , reducing any additional tension provided by wind. The truss
bridge acts in compression or tension, and typically these bridges have its lower
cord under compression while the upper chord is under tension. The slanted beams
/ in the middle prevents any buckling of the upper members of the bridge .The
truss ability to distribute forces has lead to many different designs of the bridge
making it a unique bridge. The Firth of 4th bridge is a perfect example of unique
truss s. The chords of compression and tension are reversed. Through the span of

The Portland Plant will continue to produce non compliant product until a time when
a deficiency in the finished product is discovered. We can therefore assume that
quality is not monitored during the production phase. According to Slack et al.
(2013) ... [when] quality levels or times are significantly different from those
planned, then some kind of intervention is almost certainly likely to be required (p.
511). An emphasis on flexibility over speed that values quality control and empowers
employees to stop production when anomolies are discovered will ultimately
improve Portland s production times. Conclusion The Portland Plant needs to re
order their objectives (from most to least important) as follows: (1) Quality, (2)
Flexibility, (3) Dependability, (4) Cost, (5) Speed. (See Polar Representation of
Performance Objectives in Appendix A.) This change will emphasize a superior
finished product and the ability of the plant to adapt to market changes.
Improvements in quality will influence their consumers decision to return, reduce
costs due to mistakes at each process of production, and improve the dependability
of operations (Slack et al., 2013, pp. 46 47). Flexibility will assure that Portland is
able to adapt to market changes and assure their ability to customize operations to
match products that their buyers are developing. According to Slack et al. (2013),
flexibility within an operation increases speed, saves time, and maintains

Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Essay
Ventilator associated pneumonia is the leading cause of death out of all hospital
acquired infections. Pneumonia that is acquired 48 hours or longer after at patient
has been mechanically ventilated is considered hospital acquired. Endotracheal tubes
provide pathogenic microorganisms with a direct access to the lungs where they can
easily set up shop and cause deathly consequences for patients in the acute care
setting. For example, the mortality rate of patients who have ventilator associated
pneumoniais 46% whereas unaffected intubated patients mortality rate is 32%. When
ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) occurs in a patient(s), it often increases the
amount of days a patient is on the ventilator and increases their overall hospital stay
(Safe Care). The big problem with this is that VAP is costing hospitals... Show more

This includes elevating the head of the bed at least 30 degrees, preventing
aspiration, turning and positioning, and most importantly, performing oral care. A
major source of VAP is the aspiration of microorganisms from the mouth, proving
oral hygiene for mechanically ventilated patients is of top priority. Although,
methods and timing of oral care varies widely between facilities, for instance, some
hospitals may brush teeth with a tooth brush while others may use a sponge swab.
A common oral care protocol is usually brushing teeth every 8 hours and using an
antimicrobial rinse (chlorhexidine) every 2 hours (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013). It
should be noted that quality education on the link between poor oral hygiene and
ventilator associated pneumonia should be provided to licensed nurses as well as
nurses aides that would be responsible for providing oral care. Understanding the
importance of being vigilant at providing oral care may further reduce VAP
occurrences due to increased compliance and efficiency of oral care

College Dropout Rates In America
Did you know, that according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 65.9% of
students in America who graduate high school attend college? Major evidence also
reports that this may be due to financial problems. I believe that college tuition
prices should be lowered because they are already way too high, college dropoutrates
are linked to financial problems, and the attendance rates are also suffering due to
finances. First of all, the cost to receive a higher educationis very expensive. The
ACS 1 Year survey shows that the median family income for California in 2014, was
$71,015. For our purposes, we shall use the Universityof California at Los Angeles, as
it is the most applied to university in all of America. According to ucla.edu,... Show

Colleges, of course, can always host events or fundraisers. If lowering tuition
becomes too much to handle, colleges can always just provide extra financial aid
for those who need it. As you can see, I believe that college tuition costs should be
lowered because they are just simply too expensive, and they even affect their
dropout and attendance rates in a negative way, all because the cost to enroll in a
higher education is too

because you have so much going on at work, at home, in school, you are easily

times throughout the day, I caught myself thinking about my speech, so during a
meeting when someone was talking, my mind was drifting to those thoughts again,
so one of the techniques that I used was bring my mind right back to meeting and
focus hard on the message given.

Young people once they have reached the age of 16 have a number of options open
to them. They can leave school and get a job or stay in full time education.
Education
Stay in further education such as sixth form or college.
They also have the option of doing a NVQ or BTEC a work based qualification that
can be studied in school or college.
International Baccalaureate (IB) IB leads to a qualification called the IB Diploma.
This is well respected by universities. The IB Diploma is recognised by 126
universities in the UK.
Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) are a further education qualification for 14 19
year olds. Less classroom based than A levels, and to encourage more young people

Because dry rot thrives in damp unventilated areas like floorboards and behind wood
panelling most of the time the damage is done before that fungus is discovered.
How to spot dry rot, initially the fungus appears as off white felt like or cotton
wool like sheets on brickwork and timber and in later stages can develop fungal
strands as thick as your finger. Where the fungus is exposed to light it often has a
lemon yellowish colour. Damage is often confined to timber but large flat
mushroom like fruiting bodies can easily grow through finishes such as plaster or
paint. These fruiting bodies may be the first visible sign of a problem, and they
produce numerous spores which are normally brick red in colour. Entirely dry rot
decayed timber can be crumbled between your fingers. The fungus leaves deep
cracks running across the grain, and there is often evidence of off white sheets of
the fungus on the wood. Also the brick red spores that it can leave can grow on
their own on a new piece of timber if the conditions are right. We can also look at
dry rot at the molecular level, structural level, and engineering level. When we look
at dry rot at the engineering level we can see the visible effects of the dry rot which
would be cotton wool like fungus. At the structural level once again we would see
the cell structure of the wood and how it would be

The Importance of the Origin of Our Food
Today s average supermarket has become a place of optimal convenience for the
average consumer. These stores have changed more in the past 50 years than they
ever have before and most have become a one stop shop for people. You can find
anything from clothes, tools, toys, medicine, hygiene products, cooking equipment
and so on and so forth. Supermarkets such as the multi hundred billion dollar Walmart
carry just about everything that most people would need to carry out their daily lives.
Perhaps the most important products carried by supermarkets are the fooditems. That
being said, most consumers can find close to any food product that they desire in
today s supermarket. Whether that be grains, vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy, and
or fats sweets, the supermarket has it. We now live in a day and age where you
only have to go to one place to meet the requirements of each area of the food
triangle. How convenient is that? While our food system may appear to be ideal
by meeting the every need of the average consumer, one should take a closer look
and ask themselves a few questions. The questions that should be considered
include; How fresh is it? How pure or clean is it, how free of dangerous chemicals?
How far was it transported, and what did transportation add to the cost? How much
did manufacturing or packaging or advertising add to the cost? When the food
product has been manufactured or processed or precooked, how has that affected its
quality or price or

In terms of becoming a mediator and consensus builder the authors detailed the need
for principals to possess relational leadership skills in order to be able to both
facilitate groups and coach others on staff in the ability to facilitate their own groups,
and stressed that the key to this is the ability to effectively participate in conflict
resolution (Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, Ackerman, 2009). The authors suggested
that conflict is part and parcel of school reform and that in addition to being able to
deal effectively with conflict the successful principal needs to develop the ability for
bringing about consensus within the group, noting that interpersonal and
intrapersonal skills were as much or more important than knowledge (Donaldson,
Marnik, Mackenzie, Ackerman, 2009). In the area of relationships it was noted that
principals that are most effective are those that place high value on people and
relationships and that when this exists as a core part of the belief system of the
principal it is noticeable and is communicated to staff in both subtle and explicit ways
(Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, Ackerman, 2009). According to the authors this
sense of value comes through in all of the dealings that the principal has with
stakeholders (Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, Ackerman, 2009). It shows in body

The Slave Trade Route between Africa and North America
Essay
The slave trade route between Africa and North America was known as the Middle
Passage. From the early 1500s to the mid 1900s Africans were treated poorly and
had suffered greatly from the journey of the Middle Passage. The Middle Passage
first started out by shipping four hundred fifty thousand people to the New World and
then extended to almost thirteen million Africans. Africans were boarded onto ships
to the New World in two major locations in Africain which are Angola and Gabon. An
outrageous number of Africans were taken to the new World from Angola. Five
hundred million and four hundred ninety thousand kidnapped Africans from Angola
were on ships traveling to North America and parts of the Caribbeans in which then

Each ship was to carry a maximum of four hundred and fifty one Africans but the
Americans had fit six hundred people. Buckets were scattered around the ships that
had suffocated many children. Many of the Africans that were in these ships were
primarily boys. Girls that were boarded were between the ages of 15 and older.
Equiano who was an enslaved African describes his experience with the Americans
when he first entered the ship. When Equiano first entered the ship his strength
was tested by the Americans by being poked very hardly which conveyed the
profits that the Americans would make when selling him in the American slave
markets. The Middle Passage was a successful and prosperous journey for the
Americans because the selling of slaves brought big profits and it had increased the
wealth for many Americans; it became the foundation for the American colonies.
Once Africans were enslaved they were quickly brought to plantations by their
slave owners to cultivate farmlands and clear out land that slave owners were in
need of. Many slaves became sick and had passed away shorty after being taken by
their slave owners. Some Africans made it through the harsh journey of the Middle
Passage but because they were not accustomed to the weather in North America and
in the Caribbean s they became very ill. The Americans became responsible for the
deaths
Word Learning And Language Of The World s Different...
Words are the essential part of communication in all of the world s different
languages. Most adults understand thousands of words, and the majority of people
master a vast vocabulary of words. Word learning and language are perhaps two of the
more complex developmental achievements in human evolution, they stand out
because of the conceptual and linguistic organization (Waxman, Lidz, 2006). This
complex process has been very well studied in human infants and literature about this
topic is abundant. Infants gather words and phrases from the human languageto which
they are exposed to and make important advances in areas such as conceptual and
linguistic domains. Furthermore, infants learn words with extraordinarily speed;
this gathering of words is so fast that some researchers argue that there must be
specialized mechanisms that deal with word learning (Gleitman, L. R., Cassidy,
K., Nappa, R., Papafragou, A., Trueswell, J. C. 2005). These specialized
mechanisms for word learning are associated with fast mapping, which means that
a word meaning is deduced from very few exposures to that specific word. The
ability of children to fast map is regarded as proof of the astonishing efficiency of
early word learning (Dollaghan, C. A. 1987). There is certainly great knowledge
about word learning in human infants; however, this subject has not been studied
extensively in animals. One of the few researches in this topic suggests that a dog
also have the ability to learn words

Oklahoma City Service Center Case Study
Ms. Teresa Keller addressed the Oklahoma City Service Center move to the Will

moved into the space on the northeast corner of the fourth floor, just north of the
Adjudication unit. Brenda Orange is now supervising both Adjudication and the
Service Center employees. The move went smoothly, and we are thrilled to have
them here. This move saved the agency $90,000 a year. Due to budget constraints
the decision was made not to fill Jon Eller s prior position as Division Director of

The Classification Of E M Services
by an APRN fall within the APRN s scope of practice under their state law.
Commercial third party payers do not consistently provide reimbursement for the
APRN; however, their rates and policies differ (Buppert, 2005). The APRN submits
either current procedural terminology (CPT) codes or evaluation and management
(E M) codes for Medicare reimbursement. CPT codes are a systematic listing and
coding of procedures or services performed by the APRN. The American Medical
Association (AMA) establishes, maintains, and copyrights the CPT codes. The п¬Ѓve

Comprehensive is a general multi system examination or complete examination of a

The type and extent of the examination is determined by clinical judgment, patient s
history, and nature of the problem. The classification of E M services endorse four
types of clinical medical decision making: straightforward, low complexity, moderate
complexity, and high complexity. Clinical decisions refer to the complexity of
establishing a diagnosis or choosing a management option. The complexity is
determined by the volume of possible diagnoses or management options, and the
volume or complexity of medical records, diagnostic tests, or other information that
must be obtained, reviewed, and analyzed. The risk of complications, morbidity or
mortality, and comorbidities associated with the patient s problem, the diagnostic
procedure or management options also determines the classification of medical
decision making (Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare
Medicaid Services, 2014b). The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the
standard diagnostic tool for epidemiology, health management and clinical purposes.
ICD includes the evaluation of the overall health conditions of populations and is
used to surveil the incidence and prevalence of diseases and other health issues. ICD
is used by the APRN to classify diseases
Kidney Dialysis
Kidney Dialysis There are a few options when it comes to dialysis. Depending on
your diagnosis you may have the option of peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis. With
these two treatments you have the option of completing the treatment either in a
center or at home if you are able to learn how to treat yourself through training.
Peritoneal dialysis cleanses your bloodof waste products when your kidneys can no
longer take on the task adequately. This can be caused by diabetes, high blood
pressure, kidneyinflammation, or multiple cysts in the kidneys. As wastes build up in
the body, it can be dangerous and may even cause death. The patient is trained on
what peritoneal dialysis involves and how to use the equipment which may consist of
a catheter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hemodialysis removes wastes, salts, and excess fluid from the body when your
kidney can no longer do the work adequately. The treatment is used with end
advanced kidney failure and can help maintain an active life despite failing
kidneys. In any case, the process can help control blood pressure, maintain the
proper balance of fluid and various minerals. A vascular access is created by a
surgeon and then the site will need to heal for any a period of a few weeks to a
month. This access point allows a mechanism for a small amount of blood to be
removed, cleansed and then returned to your body in order for the hemodialysis to
work. In a dialysis center your weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature are
checked then the access site cleaned. Two needles are inserted, attached to a
flexible plastic tubing, and then connected to a dialyzer. With other options this
can be done in your own home, which is easier on your body, and may give you
more freedom. Equipment that may be used includes a graft or catheter, and a
hemodialysis machine if the treatment will be at home and a filter called a dialyzer.
The concept behind this process is to help cleanse your blood of the toxins in your
body. This will help with a better quality of life, increased well being, reduced
symptoms, less cramping, headaches and shortness of breath, improved appetite,
sleeping patterns, energy levels and the ability to
Personal Narrative Essay On A Trip To America
Another trip that I made this year was in July, with my mum my sister. We went to
San Francisco in the United States. The trip started out pretty bad, because we had
to travel very far we also had to exchange flight in New York and that was when my
sister who is older than me, told us that she had forgot her passport! We looked
everywhere and in every bag that we had but we couldn t find it. Since the security
in America is very strict we weren t sure if we even could get in to the country
without the passport. It was a really stressful time and we didn t know what to do,
but luckily there was a support group at the airport who could help us, and one of
the men went back to the plane that we had just arrived from to look if the passport

The Mystery Ship Research Paper
The Mystery Ship
When I read this story it brought to mind all of those Dracula movies that I have
seen where they show a ship coming into harbor with no one alive aboard or a ship
full of corpses. The American ship Mary Celeste was seen sailing erratically by
Captain David Morehouse aboard the British brig Dei Gratia near the Azores Islands
in the Atlantic Ocean. The strangest thing was that the ship was seaworthy and all of
its stores and supplies were aboard and untouched but there was not a single living
soul on the vessel.
On November 7, 1872 the Mary Celeste sailed from New York harbor heading for
Genoa, Italy. Aboard the ship were Captain Benjamin S. Briggs, his wife and two
year old daughter and a crew of eight. The cargo consisted
Descriptive Essay About Friends
I was a sophomore in High School, Ellen was a freshman and by the beginning of
the calendar year, we were wildly popular, it seemed as if every freshman and
sophomore on campus knew who we were. We often dressed alike, something we
retained from when we were children and our mother clothed us in the same outfits,
we teased our hair up in bouffant styles, wore heaps of mascara, and eyeliner
artistically drawing little wings in the corner of our eyes. My sister and I were part
of the in crowd and fashionably trendy.
Our circle of friends was a diverse group of classmates; Ellen had her freshman
friends and I had my sophomore friends, however, our closest, bosom buddy
friends, were three long haired individuals named Allen, Adrian and Glenn. For
some reason, we enjoyed their company and spent most of our time with these lost
souls. All our classmates knew that the five of us were best friends. At lunch, we
met at the school entrance, walked to the Diner at Walgreens together, ordered
whatever the five of us combined, could afford; a few servings of French Fries;
two or three hamburgers, a couple of sodas which we shared among us, as we
whiled away the lunch hour, solving the teenage problems of the world. I will never,
ever, in a million years forget my sixteenth birthday when Ellen, Allen, Adrian and
Glenn arranged to have a professional photo taken as a surprise gift for me. Wearing
complimenting outfits in greens and blues, they looked like a famous rock band.
The Alien And Sedition Acts
History is essentially the foundations of humanity. It contains what mankind was,
what it is, and often foreshadows what it will be. In the development of a nation, the
documents and customs established, set precedents that bury deep within the roots of
a nation s history as it grows in power and strength. In the development of the United
States, one such set of acts played a key role in the way unto which this nation was
formed and continues to affect it today. The Alien and Sedition Acts

American ideology in the 18th Century and again influences the nation in the current
era. By first understanding what the Alien and Sedition Acts were, how they shaped

The second and third acts, The Alien Enemies, and Alien Friends Acts, gave the
government the power to deport aliens living in the States ( The Alien, n.d).Which
would allow the government to remove any perceived threats or simply anyone that
could have been labeled as unpatriotic, without the need for a trial. The fear of a
French invasion was so great, that a sense of witch hunt hysteria was spreading
through John Adam s Federalist party. This also allowed the federalist s the power to
remove any immigrants that were in favor of the Democratic Republican party, thus
weakening the party further. Lastly, and certainly the most controversial Act, The
Sedition Act, the rights of American citizens themselves were violated by prohibiting
assembly with intent to oppose any measure ... of the government and made it illegal
for any person to print, utter, or publish ... any false, scandalous, and malicious
writing against the government, or specifically anyone against the Federalist Party (
Sedition, n.d). These laws were the first examples in the United States of controlling
immigration and free will, amid fear of foreigners and hysteria, coupled with a
willingness to suppress resentment and punish those who spoke out against the
Federalist party. Once these laws were put into effect, the results were ever more
devastating. By placing the government in a position where administrators were
masters of the people, and no longer servants, America returned to the same

Be Patient for Parking The shortage of parking space in America s college is
becoming an extremely concerned problem. This parking issue is highly impacting
students campus life. Many college students, even faculties, and visitors find that it is
hard to park on campus, especially at some busy times. The situation is that students
would encounter parking is so scarce, and they have to wait for somebody to leave
and take their spots. Otherwise, students have to waste their time driving around and
around the parking lot. Even though students pay for their parking permit, they are
not guaranteed for a parking space. The shortage of parking space causes a lot of
trouble for students. Because of there is no parking space, students will get late for
class, which could lead their grade to get lower. In other cases, students will have
to park in a very faraway place, which they are forced to prepare more time to park
and it takes them too long to walk to their classrooms. It also increases the risk and
danger walking and driving in the parking lot. Drivers need to drive while they are
searching, which could be very dangerous. To solve the shortage of parking spaces,
colleges are suggested to build a parking structure, open more parking lot at busy
times, manage the class time to relieve the busy period and provide more pubic
transportation and bicycle services to the students.

Women s Civil Rights During World War II
After years of Civil Rights Movements and Pay Equity Acts, as of 2014, women
still only make 79 cents to a man s every dollar. Although the wage gap has shrunk
since the 1970 s, progress has recently stalled and chances of it vanishing on its
own is unlikely. The gains that American women have made towards labor market
experience and skills is tremendous. In fact, women account for 47% of labor
workforce and 49.3% of American jobs. But despite of women s strides, a gender
pay gap still exists. Experts suggest that it will take 100 years to close the gap at
the rate employers and legislators are working to create solutions. But by allowing
women to work in higher paying positions and by proposing and updating pay equity
laws, the gender gap can finally be diminished.
Women s Civil Rights has always been an issue around the world. During World War
II, women began working while the men were away at war. Once the men came back,
the pay wage began between men and women. According to researchers, Beth
Rowen and Borgna Brunner, between 1950 and 1960, women who had worked
full time jobs only earned around 60 cents to every dollar that their male
counterparts earned. It was not until June 10, 1963 that the Equal Pay Act was
passed by President Kennedy making it illegal for employers to pay women less
than men in the same job title. In order to further progress of pay equity, Rosa Cho
from Re:Gender.org, also found that President Kennedy proposed a Civil Rights Act
to prohibit
Eastwood Hero, And Unforgiven
A person s house is often reflective of who they are as a person. It gives insight into
their personality, values, fears, among others. Armando J. Prats, in his article Back
From the Sunset: The Western, the Eastwood Hero, and Unforgiven, analyzes the
character of William Munny, and how much of him is grounded in myth and how
much in history. Unforgiven uses symbols to discreetly give its audience insight into
its characters and their motives. In particular, Unforgiven uses homes as symbols for
Will Munny, Ned Logan, and Little Bill s true character. Understanding how the
houses reflect the characters of Unforgiven supports and strengthens Prats argument
that Will Munny is more than who he seems at the surface.

Prats, in his article Back From the Sunset: The Western, The Eastwood Hero, and

mortal, at once doing penance for his singular luck and awaiting the moment of
deliverance from the demons of self depreciation (Prats 111). From our
introduction to Munny, this statement makes sense. He definitely doesn t look like
an infamous outlaw; with the scraggly hair and muddy appearance, he looks more
like your average, or less than average, hog farmer living on the plains of Kansas.
This is reflected in his house as well. The dark, barren hovel he lives in with his
children looks like the home of someone waiting for his sentence, not someone who is

Joran Van Der Sloot s Murder
Natalee Holloway was an eighteen year old girl from Mountain Brook,Alabama
who suddenly went missing in Aruba on a graduation trip on May 30, 2005. Joran
Van der Sloot being accused for the murder of Natalee Holloway is not an example
of a witch hunt because there is no mass hysteria and, there s only one man that has
been accused. Also the only reason Van der Sloot is being accused is because he s
a possible suspect, he was responsible for the murder of a young woman named
Stephany Flores Ramirez on May 30, 2010 and he was at the bar where Holloway
went missing back in 2005. The main reason Joran van der Sloot is a possible
suspect is because he was remembered to have been at the bar that night by Natalee s

Animal Euthanasia Research Paper
According to the The Humane Society of the United States roughly six million
animals are handled by shelters and clinics every year; though, only four million are
adopted or claimed . The other two million animals are left in these shelters until they
die or are subjected to cruel practices of euthanasia. There are simply too many
animals and not enough people who are open to adoption. The animal overpopulation
crisis and euthanasiacruelty can be prevented by an approach called animal birth
control and adopting.
Euthanasia or mercy killing, is the act of putting an entity to a painless death. For
animals this is an injection of sodium phenobarbital; recognized as the most

The final key solution to the overpopulation issue is adopting. Adopting a needy

Not only are you saving one life but you are saving other animals by opening up
more space for dying and needy animals in shelters. By buying a pet from a breeder

Theme Of Oedipus Complex By Paul Morel
Since the day of publication, it has been a tendency to approach Sons and Lovers
(1913)primarily as the story of a victim of Oedipus Complex . The hero, Paul
Morel, is very often looked upon, as the title suggests, merely as a son; not as a
normal human being. Whatever problems crop up in the life of Paul Morel has
been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation . Whenever someone strives to
examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus complex looms large
and everything else, if there is any, fades away. Because of this one dimensional
attitude, it is scarcely kept in mind that Paul Morel, besides his mother fixation , does
posses another identity no less important than his identity of a son; the identity that

Problems Associated With Ageing Human Skeletal Muscle
Quadriceps and Hamstring group of muscles play a very important role in everyday
activities. These group of muscles help us to walk, run, jump, squat etc1 Ageing
however is an unavoidable phenomenon. Aging is known to decrease muscular
strength. (Grimby and Saltin,1983;Borges 1989) .It is associated with increase in the
subcutaneous fat, intramuscular fat and non muscletissue.(Rice et al). Ageinghuman
skeletal muscle has shown increase in the proportion of type 2 fibers (glycolytic)
along with decrease in the contractile ability. On the other hand training has shown to
improve the strength in elderly (Annianson Gustafsson), 1981; Frontera et al 1990;C.
L Rice et al). The muscle weakness and wasting has been evaluated by dynamometer
and compound ultrasound imaging, Nuclear magnetic resonance etc.
One of the most common condition seen due to quadriceps weakness in old age is
knee osteoarthritis. The presence of this condition leads to pain , stiffness and
reduction in range of motion. A study done by Stephanie et al stated that reduction of
muscle fiber and muscle size and increase in fat and connective tissue is seen thus
reducing the force generation capacity in old individuals.
Few of these studies which I used in the presentation focused on comparing old and

Canaan is in Israel. The books of the bible where Canaan is located is Genesis,
Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, and Job. I believe Canaan
was a pretty popular place in the before Christ century because it did take its place
in so many books of the bible. Especially in Joshua where the conquest took place
in Canaan. Canaan is also known as the promise land. The whole book of Joshua
talks about the conquest of Canaan. Then it also talks about the division of Canaan.
Around 1400 BC The Amarna Tablets refer to a period of chaos in Canaan.

The book of Joshua was probably the book that the land of Canaan was in most.
Just because of the conquest that occurred in that book. There was a map of Canaan

Savagery
In William Goldings Lord of the Flies the boy s human nature shifts into savagery
without a civilization to keep them in order. The first character to start the slow
descent into savagery is Ralph who because of his continual battle for power with
Jack, uses violence to settle disputes, contributes to the killing of Simon, and
emulates a wild animal to survive. Roger who rejects the idea of civilization from
the start instills fear in younger tribe members, kills Piggy, and plans the brutal
sacrifice of Ralph. Finally, Jack adapts a ruthless way of leading allowing an
obsession with hunting as he segregates his tribe from civilization and leads the hunt

does not take the act of defiance lightly. Giving him yet another reason to have his
tribe turn against Ralph. Next, Ralph again loses his civility in a moment of savagery
thus contributing to the killing of Simon. Ralph who is leading his tribe into a better
civilization turns into a savage with his group closely following his lead. They
murder Simon, this being significant because he showed the most civility and was
only trying to help when he approached the group of savages. Instead the, memory
of the dance that none of them attended shook all 4 boys convulsively. All the boys
in Ralph s tribe deny their involvement because they can t come to terms with what
they did to one of their friends. Ralph may have stood on the outside and never

Absorption
Alcohol is absorbed from all parts of the gastrointestinal tract largely by simple
diffusion into the blood. However the small intestine is by far the most efficient
region of the gastrointestinal tract for alcohol absorption because of its very large
surface area. In a fasting individual, it is generally agreed that 10% to 20% of a dose
of alcohol is absorbed from the stomach (the volume of alcohol affects the
absorption) and 75% to 80% is absorbed from the small ... Show more content on

Alcohol Content
It s not how many drinks that you have, but how much alcohol that you consume. The
concentration of the drinks that one ingest can have a slight effect on the peak
alcohol concentration due to the differences in absorption rate of different
concentrations of alcohol. Alcohol is most rapidly absorbed when the concentration
of the drink is between 10% and 30%. Below 10% the concentration gradient in the
gastrointestinal tract is low and slows absorption and the added volumes of liquid
involved slow gastric emptying. On the other hand concentrations higher than 30%
tend to irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and the pyloric
sphincter, causing increased secretion of mucous and delayed gastric emptying.
Food
Food taken along with alcohol results in a lower, delayed blood alcohol concentration
peak (the point of greatest intoxication). There are two major factors involved in this
phenomenon.
First, because alcohol is absorbed most efficiently in the small intestine, the
ingestion of food can slow down the absorption of alcohol into one s system. The
pyloric valve at the bottom of the stomach will close in order to hold food in the
stomach for digestion and thus keep the alcohol from reaching the small intestine.

Examples Of Risk Taking In Beowulf
If you want it, go for it. Take a risk. Don t always play it safe or you just might die
wondering. Every day we take risks, whether you know it or not. Some risks might
be good some might be bad but we will never know if we don t take them. Risk
taking happens from the time we wake up in the morning till the time we go to bed.
In class we read Are Genetically Modified Foods Scary?, Blackheart, and Beowulf

Genetically Modified Foods Scary? we learned that people take risks just within the
foods that we eat. Most people eat Genetically Modified Foods (GMO) on a daily

Analysis Of Enuma Elish s The Garden Of Eden Essay
The story of Enuma Elish are inscribed on 7 cuneiform tablets which was recovered
by a collector named AH Layard in Iraq. This story has some parallel tales told in the
Old Testament such as Genesis, Exodus and the Psalms. In Enuma Elish presented to
the father and mother as Apsu and Tiamat represented as saltwater and freshwater and
were present before the creation of the universe. The epic begins this way: When on
high ... No heaven HAD Been named, called earth No, not Annunaki ... There was
nothing ... nothing but Old Father Apsu and Mummu Tiamat, Mother of All Living
. This describes a series of Gods that were created and later gained wisdom leading
to a similarity to Genesis presenting the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden
and so says: Increasing in wisdom, in understanding and in ...strength. Apsu planned
to destroy the gods to form a universe of order in a chaotic world. Ea is another god
who kills Apsu to prevent what he had planned. Genesis also describes a world full
of chaos and God decided to give skills to everyone in order to bring a new order. In
Enuma Elish, Ea joins Damkina and has a divine and perfect son whom they call
Marduk. In the tablet fragments, phrases were recited found in the Bible, such as
Divine the womb That bore him (Luke 11:27), My beloved is! My son, who is my
Sun, Sun for all the Heavens (Matt 3:17). Within the epic Kingu mate Tiamat which
motivated to make monsters to kill the other gods. Tiamat think monsters including a

The Nuclear Crisis Of Hiroshima And Hiroshima
Let us first consider each text s portrayal of the nuclear meltdown at
Grafenrheinfeld. While both texts draw parallels between nuclear accidents and
nuclear warfare, Pausewang s emphasis on the latter highlights a Cold War era fear
of intentional nuclear annihilation. Consider, for example, how the survivors of the
Grafenrheinfeld disaster are publicly called Hibakusha, a direct reference to the
survivors of the 1945 nuclear bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. This name,
according to Natalie Eppelsheimer, suggests...no difference between the dangers
of civilian and military nuclear policy: surviving victims of radiation of a nuclear
disaster must live with the same consequences as the surviving victims of an
atomic bomb (23 my translation). Thus, both texts emphasise how civilian use of
nuclear technology carries many of the dangers of military use. But while Hage s
text is content with this association, Pausewang s proceeds still further: the
refugees after the [Second World] War were seen just as unfavourably [as
Grafenrheinfeld s survivors], explains one Hibakusha to another, [e]ven though
they weren t radioactive (92). Here, Die Wolke explicitly equates the threats of
nuclear disaster and warfare, and indeed combines them into an implied threat of
nuclear holocaust: after Hiroshima, warfare is as potentially deadly as a nuclear
disaster, and via Hitler or Chernobyl, each has come to Germany in the last fifty
years. Of course, Pausewang is not alone in drawing this
Nile s Lifeblood
The Nile was the lifeblood of Ancient Egypt. Discuss.
By Herbie Fischbacher, 7 Lombard
The Nile river has so many things that Ancient Egyptians needed, so if you called it
the lifeblood of Ancient Egyptians, it would fit perfectly. Trading, farming, transport
and defence were things that without the Nile River, weren t possible. These four
points were all very big factors in why Ancient Egypt flourished and was rich and
successful.
The Nile River allowed Ancient Egyptians to feed their crops, meaning they could
survive in the extreme temperatures of the desert. This is because the Nile provided
Ancient Egyptians fertile growing silt when it flooded Egypt, but also the water that
was carried in the river s body. The planting, harvesting ... Show more content on

A wide variety of things and people that were transported along the Nile, which
affected the economy and wellbeing of Ancient Egypt. Things that were transported
included traded goods, both imported goods and goods to be exported, people,
animals and building materials such as stones, granite and obelisks. Boats or ships
that travelled along the Nile were made using bundles of papyrus reed, and had
one sail, which powered them to go forward, and an oar at the back to go
backwards. The dead bodies of Pharaohs would be taken by boat or ship to the
burial site called the Valley of the Kings . Boats were also used to catch food. One
technique to catch fish and swimming animals in the Nile was trawling. This was
where you had a net tied between two boats, and the boats would go against the flow
of water, which would cause fish coming with the current to be caught in the net
between the boats. Ships were used to transport soldiers throughout Egypt and
beyond. News was brought by people travelling along the Nile, which would keep
people up to date with things happening locally and outside Egypt if travelling from
that far. Coming and going along the Nile River meant that people could get to places
and things could be accomplished, which proves the point that without the Nile, then
Ancient Egyptians couldn t
Court Report Essay

The courts of the United Kingdom are institutions there are aim justice to all and
deliver fair and equal trails. Although fair and equal are not always true to some
cases along with justice to all . Never the less either convicting someone for
unlawful activity or resolving a civil dispute, the British legal system employs a
variety of courts in its application of the law. It much reminds me of my home
country the United States the different level of courts I mean. Magistrates courts
have the jurisdiction to try minor offences then for more serious offences are referred
to the Crown courts. There are also appellate courts, which include the Court of

Due to the late arrival of the defendant, the defense barrister had to apologies on his
behalf, resulting in the judge sanctioning him custody during lunchtime. I was
surprise that see that judge did not say anything more, I am use to judges in
America to be very cross with any party that arrived to the trail late. I had once
witness seen a judge delayed the trail to another day for the lateness of the defense.
But the judge only sanction him so I figure that this may happen more than once.
The defendant s tardiness, as well as his demeanor very nonchalant in court, made
him appear to be unconcerned with the fact that he was on trial. At one point I
thought he was going to fall asleep. This definitely had an impact on his impression
on the jurors as they did not seem happy with his behavior and neither was the judge.
Once the jurors had been sworn in, the prosecuting barrister began with her opening
statement. She reminded the jury of their role, which was to weight up the evidence
in order to decide on the facts of the case. In comparison, the role of the judge was
to interpret the law and direct the jury accordingly. Although there was reference to
statute when the defendant was read his charge, the remainder of the trial was less
concerned with the law and more focused on establishing the facts of the case. The
prosecution called 3 witnesses in total, all of which were police officers. Once they
arrived in the witness stand, they were asked to swear an oath.

Coral Bleaching Dinoflagellates
Coral bleaching is a broad yet complex topic that involves the mutualistic and obligate
symbiosis between corals and dinoflagellate algae of the genus Symbiodinium,
commonly referred to as zooxanthellae. Bleaching occurs when a significant
concentration of the zooxanthellae are no longer fixed on the coral, which occurs due
to an inability to perform their role (Wooldridge and Done 2009). With the often
colorful dinoflagellate algaegone, the coral is left as a white carbonate skeleton
(Douglas 2003). There are many effects, symptoms, and chemical changes that occur
to arrive at that point; bleaching, therefore, can be thought of as a broad term
describing the multiple different symptoms and mechanisms causing these
deleterious responses of coral. These effects influence not only the endosymbiotic
relationship of the corals and dinoflagellates but also the myriad of organisms that
depend on the corals. In this paper, I will describe the complex nature of the causes,
environmentally and mechanically, of bleaching and their effects on the ecosystem
they inhabit. First, the main environmental causes of the effects of coral reef
bleaching will be described, namely changes in water conditions. The specific damage
to the coral reef will then be explored, looking deeply into the underlying
biochemistry of the symbiotic relationship. Finally, the consequence... Show more

For the plethora of species that inhabit the corals, they provide food and shelter and
tend to mitigate the competition and predation that occur in the ecosystems they are
a part of; this moderation is due to the topographic complexity that many coral reefs
display, facilitating the abundance of coral based niches (Garpe et al. 2006). This
diversity in complexity means that a larger number of species and a larger
abundance of each reef fish type can exist in the same
America Again Poem
Abstract 1: Westover, Jeff. Langston Hughes s counterpublic discourse. University
of Georgia. Langston Hughes Society, Oct. 2010. Web. 28 May 2017. Langston
Hughes used his poems to describe his philosophies of American social, political,
and economic conditions. In, Let America Be America Again he attacks his point
regarding economic and political statuses, explaining contradictory statements of
America in context to real and diverse audiences. Most often his work incorporates
an aspect of his development earlier on in life, ranging from the ideas his
grandmother instilled in him to the lessons he learned as he grew up. In this
specific piece, he expresses each race and class of this heritage and attacks the un
fulfilled promises made by America. However the question that many have about
this diplomatic poem still remains: Is Hughes viewpoint messages to the audience
more personal or public? Throughout the article, Westover discusses the different
focal points of Hughes poems and elaborate on the methods Hughes used to present
his writing as a poem while also possessing the qualities of a speech, open vs
private discussion. In addition, he includes the philosophies of other writers that they
hold true to the poem, Let America be America Again, creating a counterargument
discourse. For example, As his primary example of how this works, Warner focuses
on groups of gays who engage in perverse sexual behaviors in public, practices which
attack the division

Profile Essay On A Person. Example Of Personality Profile Essay

  • 1. Profile Essay On A Person Crafting an essay on the theme of profiling a person can be a challenging endeavor. The complexity arises from the need to present a comprehensive and engaging portrait of the individual, capturing not just the superficial aspects but delving into the deeper layers of their character, experiences, and impact. The task demands a keen observational eye, adept interviewing skills, and the ability to weave together a narrative that is both informative and captivating. To begin with, extensive research is essential to gather information about the person's background, achievements, challenges, and the unique elements that define them. This phase involves scouring various sources, conducting interviews, and meticulously documenting details to ensure accuracy. The challenge lies in distilling a vast amount of information into a coherent and organized structure, avoiding the trap of overwhelming the reader with too many details or losing their interest with too few. Furthermore, the writing process requires a delicate balance between objectivity and subjectivity. While presenting facts and accomplishments is crucial, infusing the essay with a personal touch is equally important to make the subject relatable and human. Striking this balance can be a tightrope walk, as too much personal bias may compromise the credibility of the essay, while too little emotion can result in a dry and uninspiring narrative. Crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion adds another layer of complexity. The introduction should grab the reader's attention and set the tone for the essay, while the conclusion needs to leave a lasting impression, offering insights or reflections that resonate beyond the mere presentation of facts. Achieving this balance requires a thoughtful and strategic approach to the framing of ideas. In summary, writing a profile essay on a person involves navigating through a maze of information, emotions, and storytelling techniques. It requires a combination of research, empathy, and literary finesse. Each sentence must contribute to the overarching narrative, creating a vivid and authentic portrayal of the individual. While the process may be challenging, the end result is a testament to the writer's ability to capture the essence of a person's life and character in a compelling and thought-provoking manner. For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate task or exploring similar essays, a helpful resource is available at HelpWriting.net, where a range of writing services can be accessed to make the essay-writing journey more manageable. • 2. The Way Of Life Has Forever Changed The way of life has forever changed. Living like our parents did is not an option for the technology thirsty current economy. We have become so dependent on technology and its advances that without it, we simply would not be able to function. If every computer and computer system suddenly crashed or stopped working it would be pure chaos, every nuclear facility would become uncontrollable, and there would be numerous toxic meltdowns, airplanes would fall from the sky, trains and cars and other forms of transportation would be unusable, communications would stop, electricity would go out, people would die (Dilard, 2014). These systems are so vital to the way we function as a society that to think of life without them is comical. Networks and systems are so vital to business and society that special positions and roles are needed to ensure they are maintained and operate. Network administrator and system administrators are more important and demanding roles than an average user would think. Users can go weeks, possibly even months without having to phone their administrators for help, but this is not due to no issues, this is due to administrators actively doing their job. Networks are only as good as their admins perform, the overall structure and integrity of a network lies in the hands of network and system administrators. Without these unsung heroes patching and protecting our digital frontier, our networks would be susceptible to any number of cyber attacks
  • 3. Impairment Compliance Group I, Category 41 Insufficient Medical Documentation to Determine Impairment Severity ISSUE Additional evidence and documentation is needed to determine the degree of the severity imposed by the claimant s psychological condition. CASE DISCUSSION POLICY ANALYSIS (INCLUDING SPECIFIC REFERENCES) This 55 year old claimant is filing a DIB claim alleging disability due to migraines without aura, typical aura with migraines, migraines with basilar type aura, sporadic hemiplegic migraines, bell s palsy, atypical chest pain, silent myocardial infarction, sleep apnea and seizure like activity. The evidence in file shows the claimant has a history of migraines since 2009. An office note on 06/24/16 states that claimant has multiple type of migraine headaches including typical migraine with and without aura; migraine with basilar type aura; and occasional hemiplegic migraine. The claimant s EEG shows bitemporal slowing, which may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is unclear whether the headaches have persisted at the noted on the office visit on 1/14/14. A more complete longitudinal record is needed to determine whether the claimant s headache frequency remained at listing level for at least 12 months despite treatment. If the headache frequency described in the 06/24/16 progress note can be confirmed back to the AOD, the intent of listing 11.03 would be satisfied. DI 24505.015.B2. indicates if the claimant has an impairment not described in the listing of impairments we will compare their findings with those for closely analogous listed impairments. If the findings related to the claimant s impairment are at least of equal medical significance to those of a listed impairment, we determine their impairment is medically equivalent to the most closely analogous listing. In this case, the findings of the claimant s impairment are very similar to those of 11.03. However, at this time duration is
  • 4. Examples Of How The Grinch Stole Christmas How the Grinch Stole Christmas!!In the movie by Dr. Seuss, the Grinch is portrayed as the villain. Why? Because he s a nasty, coldhearted creature that hates Christmas. But there is a reason for loathing the Christmas season. The Grinch plots to steal the joy and cheer of Christmas time away from the Whos in Who ville.Which he equally hates as much as the happy celebrations. As a child, the Grinchwas rejected by the Who ville community. He was made fun of and disliked by everybody, so he lived secluded up in the icy, gloomy mountains for his entire life. The Grinch actually enjoyed Christmas as a kid; he had a crush on Martha May, who is now with the Mayor. However, the Mayor used taunt the Grinch about his crush on Martha. For the Christmas
  • 5. The Man That Was Used Up And Secondly By Edgar Allen Poe The media has constructed many interesting characters based on stereotypes. The stereotypes that come with gender are no exception to this categorization of types . I will be examining two completely opposing characters. Firstly, John Smith ABC from Edgar Allen Poe s short story, The Man that was Used Up and secondly, Homer Simpsonfrom the extremely popular television series, The Simpsons. Arguably, through these two characters, we can see how, t the end of the day, men are portrayed as no less successful in their social life than when the story began regardless of their flaws, mistakes or personalities. One would think that media would reflect how actual people in real situations would react to certain flaws. However, when compared to General John A. B. C., whom everyone likes and admires, for his flaw, Homer Simpson doesn t exactly pass the test for whom people might consider likeable . He is extremely stupid, and often referred to as a young child, mainly one around the ages of 5 and 7. He is lazy, rude and ignorant and to make things worse, has a highly addictive personality, from donuts to beer, to krusty burgers. His incessant need for attention and his continual ill consideration for everyone around him, in the real world, would make him a highly unlikeable character. However, he is continually successful in his social life and seems to have an outstanding number of friends and acquaintances. Homer is unlike the General John ABC, who is highly admired and
  • 6. IBM DB2 vs Oracle Essay For this week s paper I have chosen to do a comparison between IBM s DB2 database management system (DBMS) product and Oracle. Realistically, making such a comparison is akin to discussing religion with friends. Each person will have their own biases based on their own experiences. Looking for an unbiased opinion is much like looking for the Holy Grail, every bit as speculative and subjective with the results jaundiced by the outlook of the reporter (Lim, 2002). A decision between DB2 and Oracle should be based on what resources are available for use at the site. Is there specific hardware or software already onsite that can or will be used in the installation, if so this will have a major impact on the decision making process. Does the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oracle 9i comes in three versions enterprise, standard, and personal. Oracle also requires the following patch levels on Windows operating systems (OS) for installation; Windows NT, service pack (sp) 5; Windows 2000, sp 1; Windows XP, none needed. Oracle 9i is also available for HP AIX, Compaq Tru64 Unix, Linux, and Sun Solaris (Chigrik, 2003). The DB2 Universal Database v8.1 comes in six flavors, DB2 Enterprise Server Edition, DB2 Workgroup Server Edition, DB2 Workgroup Server Unlimited Edition, DB2 Personal Edition, DB2 Universal Developers Edition, and DB2 Personal Developers Edition. The following patch levels are required based on the Windows OS it is installed on. Windows NT, sp 6a; Windows 2000, sp 2 is required for terminal services; Windows XP, none. As with Oracle, DB2 is also available for the following UNIX based OS s, AIX, Linux, Sun Solaris, and adds support for HP UX (Chigrik, 2003). Performing a flat out performance comparison between these two RDBMS is difficult mostly because both can be used to build a stable and efficient system. Most of the difference in performance can usually be traced back to the developer and the administrators for the respective systems. But, that said, a direct comparison is possible once a set of typical transactions have been defined, that can then be run under the different DBMS on different hardware and software platforms (Chigrik, 2003). In fact, this is what has been done by the
  • 7. Catalase Experiment Discussion: According to the experiment, the highest reaction rate occurred when the enzyme, Catalase, was 50% concentrated (see Fig.3). However, all of the rates were fairly similar no matter the concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration. That test resulted in no production of Oxygen because there was no enzymefor the Hydrogen peroxideto react to so nothing occurred in the testing container (see Fig. 1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from 0% concentration all produced very similar amounts of Oxygeneven though there was not as much of the enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration. The water took the place of a portion of the enzyme, or all of it, to keep a constant volume of enzyme mixture and to see how changing the amount enzymes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We used this information to form our hypothesis, which was that the 100% concentration test would have the highest reaction rate because the more enzyme is the more active sites there are, so more reactions can occur, and the the Hydrogen peroxide will be decomposed faster, giving it a higher rate. However, the results of our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the test that resulted in the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this occurred. The sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear growth between concentration and rate, which supports our hypothesis. Fig. 2 shows that the reaction rate plateaus towards the end of the 50 seconds, but this is because of the limited and constant amount of substrate, so it slowed down when the Hydrogen peroxide ran out. Our data did not support our hypothesis, but the class source support our

A major source of VAP is the aspiration of microorganisms from the mouth, proving oral hygiene for mechanically ventilated patients is of top priority. A common oral care protocol is usually brushing teeth every 8 hours and using an antimicrobial rinse (chlorhexidine) every 2 hours (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013). It should be noted that quality education on the link between poor oral hygiene and ventilator associated pneumonia should be provided to licensed nurses as well as nurses aides that would be responsible for providing oral care. How to spot dry rot, initially the fungus appears as off white felt like or cotton wool like sheets on brickwork and timber and in later stages can develop fungal strands as thick as your finger. Where the fungus is exposed to light it often has a lemon yellowish colour. Damage is often confined to timber but large flat mushroom like fruiting bodies can easily grow through finishes such as plaster or paint. These fruiting bodies may be the first visible sign of a problem, and they produce numerous spores which are normally brick red in colour. • 21. Word Learning And Language Of The World s Different... Words are the essential part of communication in all of the world s different languages. Most adults understand thousands of words, and the majority of people master a vast vocabulary of words. Word learning and language are perhaps two of the more complex developmental achievements in human evolution, they stand out because of the conceptual and linguistic organization (Waxman, Lidz, 2006). This complex process has been very well studied in human infants and literature about this topic is abundant. Infants gather words and phrases from the human languageto which they are exposed to and make important advances in areas such as conceptual and linguistic domains. Furthermore, infants learn words with extraordinarily speed; this gathering of words is so fast that some researchers argue that there must be specialized mechanisms that deal with word learning (Gleitman, L. R., Cassidy, K., Nappa, R., Papafragou, A., Trueswell, J. C. 2005). These specialized mechanisms for word learning are associated with fast mapping, which means that a word meaning is deduced from very few exposures to that specific word. The ability of children to fast map is regarded as proof of the astonishing efficiency of early word learning (Dollaghan, C. A. 1987). There is certainly great knowledge about word learning in human infants; however, this subject has not been studied extensively in animals. One of the few researches in this topic suggests that a dog also have the ability to learn words

From our introduction to Munny, this statement makes sense. He definitely doesn t look like an infamous outlaw; with the scraggly hair and muddy appearance, he looks more like your average, or less than average, hog farmer living on the plains of Kansas. This is reflected in his house as well. The dark, barren hovel he lives in with his children looks like the home of someone waiting for his sentence, not someone who is living a content

Joran Van der Sloot being accused for the murder of Natalee Holloway is not an example of a witch hunt because there is no mass hysteria and, there s only one man that has been accused. Also the only reason Van der Sloot is being accused is because he s a possible suspect, he was responsible for the murder of a young woman named Stephany Flores Ramirez on May 30, 2010 and he was at the bar where Holloway went missing back in 2005. The main reason Joran van der Sloot is a possible suspect is because he was remembered to have been at the bar that night by Natalee s old classmates. Also one month
  • 35. Animal Euthanasia Research Paper According to the The Humane Society of the United States roughly six million animals are handled by shelters and clinics every year; though, only four million are adopted or claimed . The other two million animals are left in these shelters until they die or are subjected to cruel practices of euthanasia. There are simply too many animals and not enough people who are open to adoption. The animal overpopulation crisis and euthanasiacruelty can be prevented by an approach called animal birth control and adopting. Whatever problems crop up in the life of Paul Morel has been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation . Whenever someone strives to examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus complex looms large and everything else, if there is any, fades away. However the small intestine is by far the most efficient region of the gastrointestinal tract for alcohol absorption because of its very large surface area. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alcohol Content It s not how many drinks that you have, but how much alcohol that you consume. The concentration of the drinks that one ingest can have a slight effect on the peak alcohol concentration due to the differences in absorption rate of different concentrations of alcohol. Alcohol is most rapidly absorbed when the concentration of the drink is between 10% and 30%. Below 10% the concentration gradient in the gastrointestinal tract is low and slows absorption and the added volumes of liquid involved slow gastric emptying. On the other hand concentrations higher than 30% tend to irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and the pyloric sphincter, causing increased secretion of mucous and delayed gastric emptying. Food Food taken along with alcohol results in a lower, delayed blood alcohol concentration peak (the point of greatest intoxication). There are two major factors involved in this phenomenon. First, because alcohol is absorbed most efficiently in the small intestine, the ingestion of food can slow down the absorption of alcohol into one s system. The pyloric valve at the bottom of the stomach will close in order to hold food in the stomach for digestion and thus keep the alcohol from reaching the small intestine.

While both texts draw parallels between nuclear accidents and nuclear warfare, Pausewang s emphasis on the latter highlights a Cold War era fear of intentional nuclear annihilation. Consider, for example, how the survivors of the Grafenrheinfeld disaster are publicly called Hibakusha, a direct reference to the survivors of the 1945 nuclear bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. This name, according to Natalie Eppelsheimer, suggests...no difference between the dangers of civilian and military nuclear policy: surviving victims of radiation of a nuclear disaster must live with the same consequences as the surviving victims of an atomic bomb (23 my translation). Thus, both texts emphasise how civilian use of nuclear technology carries many of the dangers of military use. But while Hage s text is content with this association, Pausewang s proceeds still further: the refugees after the [Second World] War were seen just as unfavourably [as Grafenrheinfeld s survivors], explains one Hibakusha to another, [e]ven though they weren t radioactive (92). Here, Die Wolke explicitly equates the threats of nuclear disaster and warfare, and indeed combines them into an implied threat of nuclear holocaust: after Hiroshima, warfare is as potentially deadly as a nuclear disaster, and via Hitler or Chernobyl, each has come to Germany in the last fifty years. Of course, Pausewang is not alone in drawing this

One technique to catch fish and swimming animals in the Nile was trawling. This was where you had a net tied between two boats, and the boats would go against the flow of water, which would cause fish coming with the current to be caught in the net between the boats. Ships were used to transport soldiers throughout Egypt and beyond. News was brought by people travelling along the Nile, which would keep people up to date with things happening locally and outside Egypt if travelling from that far. Coming and going along the Nile River meant that people could get to places and things could be accomplished, which proves the point that without the Nile, then Ancient Egyptians couldn t

Although fair and equal are not always true to some cases along with justice to all . Never the less either convicting someone for unlawful activity or resolving a civil dispute, the British legal system employs a variety of courts in its application of the law. It much reminds me of my home country the United States the different level of courts I mean. Due to the late arrival of the defendant, the defense barrister had to apologies on his behalf, resulting in the judge sanctioning him custody during lunchtime. I was surprise that see that judge did not say anything more, I am use to judges in America to be very cross with any party that arrived to the trail late. I had once witness seen a judge delayed the trail to another day for the lateness of the defense. But the judge only sanction him so I figure that this may happen more than once. The defendant s tardiness, as well as his demeanor very nonchalant in court, made him appear to be unconcerned with the fact that he was on trial. At one point I thought he was going to fall asleep. This definitely had an impact on his impression on the jurors as they did not seem happy with his behavior and neither was the judge. Once the jurors had been sworn in, the prosecuting barrister began with her opening statement. She reminded the jury of their role, which was to weight up the evidence in order to decide on the facts of the case. In comparison, the role of the judge was to interpret the law and direct the jury accordingly. Although there was reference to statute when the defendant was read his charge, the remainder of the trial was less concerned with the law and more focused on establishing the facts of the case. The prosecution called 3 witnesses in total, all of which were police officers. Once they arrived in the witness stand, they were asked to swear an oath.

  • 57. Coral Bleaching Dinoflagellates Coral bleaching is a broad yet complex topic that involves the mutualistic and obligate symbiosis between corals and dinoflagellate algae of the genus Symbiodinium, commonly referred to as zooxanthellae. Bleaching occurs when a significant concentration of the zooxanthellae are no longer fixed on the coral, which occurs due to an inability to perform their role (Wooldridge and Done 2009). With the often colorful dinoflagellate algaegone, the coral is left as a white carbonate skeleton (Douglas 2003). There are many effects, symptoms, and chemical changes that occur to arrive at that point; bleaching, therefore, can be thought of as a broad term describing the multiple different symptoms and mechanisms causing these deleterious responses of coral. These effects influence not only the endosymbiotic relationship of the corals and dinoflagellates but also the myriad of organisms that depend on the corals. In this paper, I will describe the complex nature of the causes, environmentally and mechanically, of bleaching and their effects on the ecosystem they inhabit. First, the main environmental causes of the effects of coral reef bleaching will be described, namely changes in water conditions. The specific damage to the coral reef will then be explored, looking deeply into the underlying biochemistry of the symbiotic relationship. Finally, the consequence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the plethora of species that inhabit the corals, they provide food and shelter and tend to mitigate the competition and predation that occur in the ecosystems they are a part of; this moderation is due to the topographic complexity that many coral reefs display, facilitating the abundance of coral based niches (Garpe et al. 2006). This diversity in complexity means that a larger number of species and a larger abundance of each reef fish type can exist in the same

Langston Hughes used his poems to describe his philosophies of American social, political, and economic conditions. In, Let America Be America Again he attacks his point regarding economic and political statuses, explaining contradictory statements of America in context to real and diverse audiences. Most often his work incorporates an aspect of his development earlier on in life, ranging from the ideas his grandmother instilled in him to the lessons he learned as he grew up. In this specific piece, he expresses each race and class of this heritage and attacks the un fulfilled promises made by America. However the question that many have about this diplomatic poem still remains: Is Hughes viewpoint messages to the audience more personal or public? Throughout the article, Westover discusses the different focal points of Hughes poems and elaborate on the methods Hughes used to present his writing as a poem while also possessing the qualities of a speech, open vs private discussion. In addition, he includes the philosophies of other writers that they hold true to the poem, Let America be America Again, creating a counterargument discourse. For example, As his primary example of how this works, Warner focuses on groups of gays who engage in perverse sexual behaviors in public, practices which attack the division
