The Importance Of Technology In Communication
Technology can play a positive role in communication ,example, live video and audio chats that
increase understanding through nonverbal messages and increase connection at the same time. While
technology like iMessaging can have a negative influence because it lacks nonverbal communication,
can often be distracting us from life, makes people anxious when they have to wait for people to
respond, is highly susceptible to misunderstandings and makes people feel lonely. On the other hand,
FaceTime has been able to provide expressions and voice cues that help bring meaning to verbal
messages which enhances trust and decreases the amount of misunderstandings that go on in
conversations. While, the relationship that is most influenced by technology is my friends at Uconn
because we spend most of the relationship face to face.
A new communication technology I believe is having a positive influence on interpersonal
relationships is FaceTime. FaceTime allows nonverbal communication to happen, which is one of the
most important forms of communication as it plays a role in about sixty five percent of all face to face
conversations. For example, my best friend and I would communicate about our daily troubles through
FaceTime. We thought this would be beneficial to our friendship because through FaceTime we were
able to distinguish other s feelings. If they looked for example ,like they were feeling sympathetic or
empathetic, we would figure that they have sincere intentions. Knowing

Cross Cultural Communication And Cultural Differences
When people think of business, rarely do we associate culture with the concept. This leads to an issue
in cross cultural communication. By analyzing cross cultural communication, and its
miscommunication in cultural differences, it is clear that employees should know more of a country s
defining culture. Only recently have we seen an emphasis in understanding other country s cultures. In
doing so, some businesses have prospered, while others have suffered after a terrible
miscommunication. When dealing with culture, there are three segments that an employee should
consider. What can be done before, during and after contact is made with the culture. In effectively
preparing for one, a business may successfully send the message they wish to their client.
Before even beginning communications, an individual should research the culture. When researching
the culture, individuals should identify and understand normal business patterns in that location. This
may include doing work before communication is started. For instance, in other cultures it is
customary for a friendship to develop before communications may begin. In attempting to be on a
friendly basis, clients may be more forgiving if a cultural mistake is made. While in other cultures,
giving a gift before a negotiation takes place is normal. Lastly if possible the individual should be
aware of the current state of affairs in the opposing nation to avoid sensitive subjects. This all depends
on the culture though that is

Deborah Zlotsky Rembrandt Analysis
Deborah Zlotsky is known for her excellence in the artistic world. Her remarkable work of art and
style has officially encouraged viewers to associate her style of artwork and compare its similarities to
past artists such as the Dutch painter, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and the Italian Baroque
painter, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Beginning with the similarities Zlotsky shares with
Rembrandt. Both paintings share a theme of performing some sort surgery in a way for the practice of
medicine. As you see in Zlotskys art work Promissory Note, the rabbit is being hanged from its back
legs while dripping blood due to some sort of incision for a pregnancy test. Rembrandt can relate with
the theme because of his most famous art piece Dr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the rabbit in Promissory Note. While brightening the lighting on only the rabbit and the
hand holding the litmus paper, Zlotsky dimmed everything else out in the background, which is also
an example of chiaroscuro. One last similarity between Zlotsky and Rembrandt is that in both
paintings, there is a sacrifice happening in some way. Obviously for Zlotsky it s the rabbit, but with
Rembrandts painting, the cadaver on the table was an executed thief named Adriaen, whose body was
sacrificed for the medicine field. Now, the similarities between Zlotsky and Caravaggio. These two
artist share similar characteristics such as using the effect of chiaroscuro, but they both also have an
example of trompe l oeil. Trompe l oeil is a technique that artist use to display a visual illusion in art
by making it three diemensional. Notice how both the sword and blood in Caravaggios work, Judith
Beheading Holofernes, seems to be well detailed and projecting outwards and in Promissory Note,
both the rabbit and the hand holding the litmus note are also well defined and given that three
diemensional look that gives the visual illusion of coming out of the

Overview Of The Jinn
Introduction
The topic of Jinn in Islam is definitely a fascinating one, as man has an innate curiosity about the
supernatural and unseen. Unfortunately, this topic is also one that is replete with misconceptions. This
essay will explore the world of the Jinn through the Qur aan and authentic Sunnah.
Creation and Existence of Jinn
The Jinn possess some characteristics of human beings, such as the ability to think and reflect and the
ability to choose between good and evil, but they are different in their origin and creation. We are
informed by Allah that the Jinn are created from fire:
And the jinn, We have created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. (Qur aan 55:27)

I struggle with him.
And if he does it again?
The student said, I struggle with him.
The teacher said, What would you do if you passed by some sheep and the sheepdog kept barking at
you and kept you from continuing on your way?
He replied, I would keep on until I drove him off.
The teacher said, You should ask the shepherd s help in keeping the dog away from you!
This analogy teaches us the best way to protect oneself: by seeking refuge and protection in Allah.
We are equipped with many weapons against Shaytaan and the Jinn in general from the Sunnah. These
include being in constant remembrance of Allah, seeking refuge in Allah before entering the
bathroom, reciting the Qur aan or sleeping, as well as the last two Surahs of the Qur aan and Ayatul
Kursi.
Conclusion
The world of the Jinn is one which is both sinister and intriguing. Knowing about it can explain many
of the mysteries of the seen world. By learning the monotheism of Allah, we defend ourselves from
these hidden allies of

Full Metal Jacket Vietnam War
Full Metal Jacket explores the psychological effects the army has on its soldiers during the Vietnam
War. The film is divided into two halves to discusses different aspects of the central topic. The first
half of the film takes place during basic training and highlights the use of negative reinforcement used
by the military. This part of the film is more overtly comedic due to the dialog and mannerisms of the
drill sergeant. The film also continues Kubrick s use of dark comedy and irony. One line that stood out
was when the drill sergeant brings up two infamous shooters Charles Joseph Whitman, and Lee
Harvey Oswald and ironically touts them as being examples of how good the marine corps training is.
It s used comedically but also as

Therapeutic Breakdown Summary
The article written by Kennet, Hardaker, Hobbs, and Selfe compares crushed ice, gel pack, frozen
peas, and ice water immersion to see which one had the best therapeutic outcome. These modalities
are supposed to cool the tissues in the injured area to decrease swelling and pain. The researchers had
several patients undergo 20 minutes of application to the right ankle with each of the four different
modalities. After the 20 min application, the patient s extremity had 30 minutes of rewarming time.
Temperatures were taken to see which modality cooled the extremity the best and compared
rewarming temperatures too. Crushed ice and ice water immersion had the greatest cooling ability in
those 20 minutes. The gel pack only cooled the surface area

Rhetorical Strategies Of John Humhryss
Rough Draft
How does Humphry s use rhetorical strategies to persuade his readers?
Introduction
John Humphrys is very irritated that the writing he knows is been spoiled by people who are using
slag and abbreviations when communicating. He believes that writing has been wrecked in a huge
manner as all that he though was right is now not considered in writing. He is also afraid that even in
some areas where he thought that writing should be official and all the rules followed, a lot of the
texting slag is used. As he states, people use the abbreviations to take care of time and use the shortest
time possible to communicate. But instead this is not true since there are a big percentage of people
who take time to understand the meaning of the abbreviations but some even fail to understand the
meaning or misinterpret them after they have wasted a lot of time. Therefore Humphrys is determined
to convincing people that texting has affected the proper way of writing. John Humphrys used the
different strategies of rhetorical persuasion to persuade his audience and make it believe that what he
is arguing about is true.
Ethos This is an appeal dealing with ethics, (Charland et al, 2017). It is a way in which a person is
convinced of the credibility or the character of the persuader. John Humphrys uses ethos to convince
his audience by expressing how he is credible and how he is well informed on the subject matter. He
convinces the author that he has vast knowledge on writing and

many other people this will be the next step after high school. The United States Naval Academy or
simply the USNA is one of the five service academies in the U.S. and is the one I will be focusing on
today. Through my research, I have found that the Naval Academy has very interesting Alumni/post

universities have unique alumni and a unique after college experiences, but none are quite as daring

Personality and Development
Personality is who an individual is, how one does things, manages events and situations, and how one
describes other individuals. One s personality can help guide an individual throughout one s life, in
addition to having power over the situation or task. Many, if not all of these factors of personality,
traits, and genetics, make up who an individual is. One s may believe an individual s personality,
differences, and individualities is the core of who an individual truly is.
Genetics and Research Genetics illustrate the variations within one s personality and measures are

Identical twins are many times seen as genetic reproductions representing variations from twin to the
other twin and are created because of environmental factors (Cervone Pervin, 2010). Since identical
twins share identical genetics, his or her personality seems to also share similarities. Moreover, the
environment can impact fraternal twins, resulting in fraternal twins personalities and his or her
characteristics similar to each other. For example, identical twins. Some research shows twins that are
raised in the same residence have little differences from those who are raised in a different home.
Twins that are growing up in the same home does not bring then any more closer to being identical
then what they already are (Cervone Pervin, 2010). In some cases, twins can appear different from one
another than they first thought or how others would assume they would be. However, identical twins
are very close if not the same in the way they act, react, think, feel, etc. it is easy to tell identical twins
at the cost of a little observation time, either with them together or apart (Van Hulle, Lemery Chalfant
Goldsmith, 2007). Temperament plays a role in personality, temperament is also known as a
subdomain of a individuals personality. However, personality goes deeper than one s temperament and
includes values and the way an individual believes in their beliefs.

Similarities Between Chicken And Chicken Skeletons
Belonging to different animal classes, the skeletons of humans and chickens have similarities
alongside expected differences. Analyzing a chicken skeleton led to the discovery that while there are
certainly visible differences between the bodies, both skeletons have a myriad of bones in common.
For example, the bones that both the chicken and human skeleton have in common include: the
mandible, the clavicle, the sternum, the scapula, the humerus, and the patella. However, despite the
common bones, the chicken skeleton contains bones that humans do not have such as the pygostyle,
furcula, and sclerotic ring, while as humans have bones that chickens do not share such as the hyoid,
calcaneus, and stapes.
Despite being different species, the chicken and human skeletons have numerous bones in common. A
few of the several shared bones includes: the mandible, the clavicle, the sternum, the scapula, the
humerus, and the patella. The mandible, located in the lower part of the skull in humans, functions to
move the lower jaw which allows the mouth to open and close. Used in conjunction with muscles, the
mandible allows humans to not only speak but also consume food and drinks (Healthline). In a
chicken, the mandible forms the bottom of the beak which allows for the consumption of foods and
liquids as well as killing prey, fighting predators or other chickens, and feeding chicks. Alongside the
mandible, chickens and humans both have the clavicle bones. In humans, the clavicle (collar

Concert Halls ( Julia Morgan, An American Architect
These days, concert halls also have remarkable architecture, offering audiences a great show even
before they have taken their seats, says the building data company, Emporis. When concert halls are
non contextual architecture, it makes the whole hall an experience, rather than just the show. The
visitor does not even need to purchase a ticket for the show; they can merely wonder around the
exterior and interior for enjoyment. Non contextual designs are becoming more popular which let s the
uniqueness of the site and the building speak for itself, sparks interest, and inspires many of the
visitors. Julia Morgan, an American architect, once said, Architecture is a visual art, and the buildings

Stylistic Analysis In Tess Of The D Urbervilles
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
A novel is the name ascribed to the genre of literature which is the result of creative mind of a writer
and the readers come in contact with the fictional world of the novels through its language. Hence, for
comprehending fictional texts, a close study and analysis of language is a necessary prerequisite.
Stylistic analysis is used as an analytical tool to see textual patterns and its significance. It is based on
statistical data that validate how language, vocabulary and syntax are used to bring about
interpretation of the text.

The coming researchers can conduct further research in this field by extending or using it.
1.6 Delimitations of the Study
The study focuses on the stylistic analysis of a novel by Thomas Hardy only. So, due to time and
financial constraints, the data collection was limited to the opening chapter only. The writer knows
that it was better to include the complete novel or the comparative study of many works but it may
help as reference for the other researchers. The data was delimited to the opening chapter of the novel
Tess of the D Urbervilles only.
1.7 Methodology and Procedure
The purpose of this study was to examine the stylistic elements in the opening chapter of Thomas
Hardy s Tess of the D Urbervilles. So, the research has been conducted by both quantitate and
qualitative methods. The quantitate data has been analyzed through some web based online resources,
mainly: online utility.org, textalyser.net, erg.delph in.net and analyzemywriting.com. For qualitative
analysis we have used the method of stylistic analysis as proposed by Leech and Short (2007) in their

How The Bible Changed My Life Intimidating was the first word that came to mind when I set out to
read The Bible from start to finish. Containing 66 books, written by about 40 authors over the span of
nearly 1,500 years, and as the most widely accepted true word of God, my mission seemed more of a
chore than an adventure. My parents stressed the importance of reading both fiction and nonfiction
since my birth. By ten months old I could identify and sound out every letter of the alphabet, and they
were stunned when they noticed my friends could not. Books quickly consumed my childhood. I read
everything, from The Magic Tree House to The Royal Diaries to nearly every Bluebonnet Book
available. And when space on my bookshelf dwindled after the addition of classics like Heidi and
David Copperfield, I adored animal encyclopedias and a children s dictionary. School was a breeze. I
loved every minute of it: reading, learning, pleasing my parents and teachers with good grades, and
making friends. As a zealous bookworm, my interests leaned more along the language arts, history,

The Bodhisattva s Body
The elaborateness of the bodhisattva remains in the figure as whole and in its separate parts,
specifically the headdress and its sword halo, the cloth, and the lotus flower seat. As a whole, the
bodhisattva is made up of multiple parts: the sword halo, the headdress, the bodhisattva s body and
arms, the lotus flower seat, and the earth base. The sword halo appears to be slightly detached from
the bodhisattva s body, mostly connected to the lotus flower seat. The halo gives the body more depth
because it provides a background. This means that the bodhisattva is not in need of having a highly

The sheer amount of weapons the bodhisattva, including the ax, trident, and spear, strikes fear in those

being bad in nature. It also promotes the desire to worship and become a devout Buddhist because of
the consequences that one could face on other paths of life. If on Buddhist path, one has this

other religions cannot achieve. To go along with the weapons, there are eight arms in total, all doing

Considering the ways in which the movie, Brazil, reflects and deviates from A Hunger Artist and

manipulate and damage the human mind in order to maintain order and control of the public.
Through the pressure of surveillance, the Ministry severely limits the public s freedom and privacy in
order to maintain control of their behavior. The hunger artist allows readers to realize how a desire to

This comes with the consequence of Sam s self destruction, which we are able to realize is such
through the similarities it bears to the hunger artist s own self destruction. At the end of the movie,
Sam is seen in a state of blissful insanity sitting in the torture chair. It may not be clear whether this is
a result of the torture that has been inflicted upon him or of his loss of touch with reality. Either way, it
is safe to say that the reason Sam goes insane is ultimately due to his own error, whether the error is in
committing crimes or in his naivety in allowing himself to get tangled in a confusing web of reality
and fantasy. This is just as it is not the public s fault that the hunger artist grows obsessed with his
fantasy of fame and does not have it satisfied, it is not directly the Ministry s fault that Sam grows
obsessed with his own fantasies that are not satisfied in reality. The public in A Hunger Artist and the

Dbq Essay On The 18th Amendment
The 18th Amendment dealt with prohibiting the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol. This
amendment was ratified by the U.S. government and was probably one of the most futile proposals
they could have ever came up with. The 18th amendment should have never been approved because it
just gave Americans an alternative to break the law. Also, the government itself lost a great deal .
Americans would ,in a sense, never give up alcholol, leaving the American government helpless with
no other decision then to repeal the ban. To begin, the 18th amendment should have never been
ratified because it gave Americans that spark of rebellion to break the law. Americans did not want to

The Sale Of Foreign Arms
POSITION PAPER
ON
THE SALE OF FOREIGN ARMS
1. This paper will argue that, in its current state, the sale of foreign arms does not support United
States (US) foreign policy. The sale of US arms exacerbates conflict in the Middle East and
contributes to human rights abuses.1 The Obama administration implemented a Conventional Arms
Transfer Policy in 2014 to control arms sales and prevent human rights abuses while providing the
weapons countries need to defend themselves in order to prevent the need for US boots on the
ground.2 However, these measures are not enough and US weapons can and do still end up in the
hands of terrorists.1

Countries in the area have hoarded, are using, and are asking for more American arms. These events
have unleashed the possibility of a dangerous new arms race in areas of turmoil and changing
alliances.3 Some of the arms the United States sold to the region are being used in conflicts. Saudi
Arabia uses Boeing F 15 fighters to strike Yemen and the United Arab Emirates is flying Lockheed
Martin F 16 s to bomb Yemen and Syria.3 Saudi Arabia in particular has committed human rights
abuses in its air war in Yemen. Amnesty International has called on the US to cease selling bombs,
fighter jets, and combat helicopters to Saudi Arabia. According to the United Nations High
Commissioner for Human Rights, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and anti government rebels has
killed thousands of civilians, and two thirds of those lives were claimed by Saudi air strikes.4
4. The United States has not ignored the role foreign arms sales play in human rights violations. In
2014, President Obama issued a directive called Conventional Arms Transfer Policy. It clearly
expresses that the United States should not sell military arms to countries that are unstable enough that
they might turn the weapons against the US or its allies. The policy calls for officials to examine the
risk that the recipient of the arms would use them to commit human rights violations or that the arms

My Friend Crystal Is A Person Of Significance
My friend Crystal is a person of significance in my life. She showed me that there are friends out there

Sakura Matsuri is a Japanese festival that takes place at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I saw her
cosplayed as Kido Tsubomi from Kagerou Project. She was with her girlfriend Jessy who was
cosplayed as Kaneki from the anime Tokyo Ghoul. I wanted pictures with them both because I liked
the characters they were cosplaying as. I went over to them and asked them if I could take a picture
with them. They both agreed to take a picture with me. My friend Dave took the picture of us for me. I
said my thanks and my good byes thinking it would be the last time I saw them.
Sakura Matsuri is a huge place so it isn t likely you will run into someone you saw twice. Coincidently
I did end up running into them a lot while I was at Sakura Matsuri. We would pass each other by
constantly. I would be heading towards one direction and they would be heading in the opposite
direction. They were always just at the place I was heading to. Every time we saw each other we
would wave and say Hello . I met them again while they were chatting with a cosplayer they just met

A Good President Should Be A President
Can you imagine having the perfect president? A president that has all the required qualities and
characteristics that you could ask for. A president that won t have anxiety attacks while dealing with
dreadful situations. Although, people have different opinions on who should become president, many
people would agree that a good president should be able to recognize important issues, to be a person
of integrity and have determination and strength to take quick action when necessary. When thinking
about those type of qualities, in my opinion, there s one person that can be the perfect president. That
one person would be Ben Carson. Like myself, Ben was a person who wasn t born with a silver spoon.
He didn t grow up with many opportunities. Ben grew up poor and was raised in a single parent

his favor (BenCarsonForPresident 3). Ben once said I came from a school in Tulsa, I came from a

frustrations started to get the best of him. His anger begin to spare out of control. Ben described his
violent behavior as a child as uncontrollable pathological temper. (Glover 2). Throughout Ben s
childhood there were many accidents. The accidents were proof of how bad Ben s anger really was.

Pensacola Harbor
The naval side of the civil war in Florida all started with the Pensacola harbor. There was a navy yard
and three forts guarding the harbor, including Fort Barrancas, Fort McRee, and Fort Pickins. On
January 8, 1861, Florida Governor Madison S. Perry authorized Colonel Chase to seizing the forts at
Pensacola. On the Fort Barrancas, 1st Lieutenant Adam J. Slemmer was an officer from Montgomery
County, Pennsylvania during the Seminole Wars and the American Civil War. He heard rumors that
the Florida Militia was planning on seizing the Navy Yard, the barracks and the forts in the Pensacola
areas. With Slemmer not wanting to enter the union he moved gunpowder and other materials to Fort
Pickens, which he thought, would be the safest port to fight from.
On January 10, 1861, Florida seceded from the U.S. being the third state to secede. On January 15 and
January 18 Slemmer refused demands for surrender from Colonel William Henry Chase who designed

Essay On Deepening Insolvency
Originally only a theory of damages, the term Deepening Insolvency refers to the wrongful
prolongation of a corporation s life beyond insolvency, thereby resulting in damage to the corporation
caused by increased debt, dissipation of assets, decreased reputation etc.
Insolvency is generally understood, from a balance sheet perspective, as a financial condition such
that the sum of the entity s debts is greater than the fair value of a company s assets. What deepening
insolvency cases have also focused on, however, is cash flow insolvency when a company incurs debt
that would be beyond its ability to pay in future years and low capital insolvency when a company
engages in a transaction or business that its capital base cannot support. When an insolvent company

In an article written by Sabin Willet, it was stated that a new loan, however onerous or ill advised, can
never deepen balance sheet insolvency. Every new loan involves an infusion of capital that sets off the
added debt so the insolvency remains the same, not deeper. Shareholders are not injured by deepening
insolvency; their injury is total upon the initial insolvency. The dead cannot get deader. Although a
corporation s creditors may be harmed by deepening insolvency, the creditors are not the corporation;
that they may suffer harm as a corporation s insolvency deepens does not mean that the corporation
does. If deepening insolvency were valid, a cause of action would also have to exist for diminished
solvency.
Not all cases agreed to the judgment of Lafferty case. In the judgment of In re Global Serv. Group

insolvency as an independent cause of action in tort. The court stated This may be bad banking, but it

Jacobs Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl
Book Report
In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Jacobs argues that many slaves were treated with extreme
punishment and inhumanly in the south. She shows that slaves were treated more similarly to property
than as workers or actual humans and the fear that they have because of it. This fueled many believers
of the antislavery to take action in the abolition of slavery. Throughout Incidents in the Life of a Slave
Girl, Jacobs gives multiple examples that show the extreme treatment that many slaves encountered.
When Jacobs was talking with Dr. Flint about her wishes to marry a free man and she spoke her mind,
she was hit by Dr. Flint. Do you know that I have a right to do as I like with you, that I can kill you, if
I please? (Jacobs, 64). This shows that it was not safe for a slave to speak openly and honestly to their
masters. If a slave s master was not satisfied, they had every right to punish, rape, or kill the slave
because they were considered to be property. This could also be one of the reasons that Jacobs uses the
pseudonym Linda Brent; for her own protection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Greek Mythology And Religion In Ancient Greek Culture
Religion was the central foundation in all that was Greek society and culture, as illustrated by the
temples and statues they built to honor them (Matthews, Noble, Platt, 2014). The Greek culture was a

Their religion was a communal, the polis and religion could not be separated, for in the eyes of the
Greeks the fate of each community depended on the civic deity (Matthews, et al, 2014, p. 42). Greek
mythology and religion, while not the same are closely related with one another, as the myths
disclosed much information about the gods and goddesses of the Greek religion (Matthews, et al,

just a story however as many adults, parents, and educators believe that this book is unfit for a

(Leigh, Punchnels) While that is alright for a school to do that, and they have every right to do so, kids
will come into contact with words like that again and they cannot be protected forever. For example,
Huckleberry Finn has been banned in schools nationwide for using the word nigger two hundred and
nineteen times over the course of the novel. (News, CBS) Many people have backed up and valid
arguments for banning the book and they are entitled to their opinions. Some parents do not wish for

The use of isolated areas can be associated with sinister goings on and can add again to the reader s
uneasiness and fear. Also innocent victims can make the reader feel scared and more vulnerable, as it
demonstrates that bad things can happen to anyone. Twists in horror stories are very common and both
these horror stories contain different twists that can shock the reader.
The Body Snatcher is a more typical horror story containing many of these things that I have
mentioned. On the other hand, The End Of The Party differs to The Body Snatcher , with it being
more to do with the mind and appearing quite everyday, and not containing as many of the typical
horror components. But both The Body Snatcher and The End Of The Party can be placed in the
horror genre as they contain the vital components that make a good horror story.
The Body Snatcher is quite self explanatory in the title and is about body snatching. It begins in the
small parlour of the George at Debenham where we meet the main character, Fettes. Fettes has an
encounter with someone from his past Macfarlane, who he is obviously not pleased to see for reasons
unknown to the reader at this stage. At the mention of Macfarlane s name Fettes became instantly

Based off of the selection of word choice you can understand that this story was taking place in the
south. The first way you can see that the story takes place in the south is by this quote You all ought to
take them somewhere else for a change so they would see different parts of the world and be broad (O
Connor). The grandmother s use of the word ought should give you an idea that she is southern
because if this story took place up north she would have said something like you should . This quote
also shows you that this family is a part of southern culture because the grandmother says be broad .
This is implying that the family does not live in a large city and that they may live in a secluded area
where it is hard for them to be broad . Word choice is also exemplified in the quote Little niggers in
the country don t have things like we do . The family s choice of words when they are talking about
the African American race shows they are from the south based off of the stereotypes of the south
considering slavery was more present in the south than it was in the north. The way the word nigger is
used by the family also implies that the family in the short story is white. The analyzation of word
choice in this short story helps identify the cultural background of the family. The short story A Good

Persuasive Essay On Violent Video Games
Everyone in the world has a hobby, no matter how big or small. For some, it is writing, reading, or
building objects. It just depends on what interests that person. Since video games were created, they
have fascinated people. They provide another form of entertainment. This is especially prominent in
the United States today. Due to video games, America has begun to see certain trends arise. Among
these is the claim that they cause violent behaviors and other negative consequences. Violent video
games are acceptable for many age groups in America today for several reasons. Firstly, the banning
of video games is unconstitutional and violates the first amendment. There have been a few states that
tried to regulate and even ban the sale of certain games to minors. However, these laws were brought
to the attention of the Supreme Court and the laws were determined to be unconstitutional. The laws
the states tried to pass violated Freedom of Speech and expression. One article that had plenty of
examples of such cases was: Violent Video Games: Should the government pass laws restricting
children s access to violent video games? . An example of a law that was deemed to be
unconstitutional is the one California tried to pass: In 2011, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7 2 in the
case Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association that a California law banning the sale of violent
video games to children without parental consent violated the Constitution. All the similar cases were
also deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme court: The repeated rejection of such measures by the
courts, however, did not dissuade other states from passing similar ones; in 2005 alone, California,
Illinois, and Michigan each passed laws restricting the sale of violent video games to minors. The
courts ruled all of them unconstitutional. Consequently, people argue that video games need to be
regulated to protect America s youth. Their way of regulating is to ban the sale of violent games to
minors. However, as discussed above, this is unconstitutional and does not work anyways. They also
do not have a solid plan as to how to regulate video games. Therefore, the best way to regulate video
games is for parents to educate themselves on the current

In insertion sort, the best case is not quadratic because it only has to verify each entry once since it
would have nothing to insert. The algorithm would just read through the array once and see that it is
already sorted. Selection sort must check each entry twice to verify that the array is correctly sorted in

Pearl Harbor
Introduction
At approximately 8 o clock in the morning on the 7th of Dec 1941, the United States of America faced
for the first time in history, an attack on US soil. The Empire of Japan had strategically planned and
executed a swift blow to the state of Hawaii, located in the mid Pacific Ocean. Hawaii was our first
line of defense from any westerly attack of an Asian country. By the end of the almost 2 hour ordeal,
our Naval and Air Corps assets were brutally crippled preventing the ability of the US to conduct an
immediate retaliation. In this study we will cover many of the events that led up to that moment in
time, the actual attack and show the result that were to follow.

The United States had not finished decoding the last and final message until the late morning of the
7th Eastern Standard Time. The final message stated to cease relations with the US and prepare to
announce their declaration of war at 1PM EST. A bit late (1130 EST) and after learning of its content,
General Marshall ordered immediate defensive posture in Hawaii once realizing the time difference
between the main land and the islands. Unfortunately this fell on deaf ears due to complications of the
atmosphere blocking radio communications, Washington had to send word via commercial telegram
which did not arrive until well after the attack. By the early morning of December 7, 1941 the
Japanese Naval force led by Admiral Nagumo had parked his fleet of 6 aircraft carriers 230 nautical
miles off the north coast of the Hawaiian Islands completely undetected. The fleet had approximately
423 aircraft with a final destination of Pearl Harbor. At 600 a.m. the first wave of 180 aircraft were
launch to attach the sleeping Hawaiian bay. At 702 a.m. an Army radar station sights the aircraft
inbound and report to their direct officer who is aware of a squadron of B 17 s due in from the west
coast and write off the sighting am friendly forces. This was the first of many mistakes that would
become evident within the hour.
At approximately 715 a.m. the Japanese fleet launches their second wave of aircraft bound for the
same objective. Unbeknown to the military stationed

My Experience With Writing Class
Writing is always something that I needed to spend a little more time at. I was much better answering
math problems than I was writing a paper or explaining a book I just read. In my college writing class
I felt that I was always given a challenge. The book The Book Thief that I read was quite lengthy and
had a lot of symbolism in it that took me a while to completely understand. The papers that I had to do
in my college writing class were also a lot more challenging than the ones I had to do in other classes.
A song that I would use to explain my experience with writing and college writing class is The Climb
by Miley Cyrus. I would use Miley Cyrus s song to explain my experience with writing and my
college writing class because there is always going to ways to improve myself as a writer. When I do
any assignment in my college writing class I am always taking a chance with it. Writing can be taking
in so many different ways and there is not real right answer, most is just personal preference. It is also
a process that can be quite lengthy; it is not just a simple one step process. It requires a lot of editing
and having others give feedback about it.
2. If I were going to teach UWRT 1102 I would emphasize on composing processes. As a student
myself, I know that editing a paper is not something we enjoy to do. I, myself often just write a paper
once and just submit it. I think students should learn that writing is not just a one step process. Writing
is a never ending

Media Influence on Eating Disorders Essay
With eating disorders on the rise today, the media plays an important role in affecting self esteem,
leading a large amount of young adults to develop eating disorders. Many adolescents see the
overbearing thin celebrities and try to reach media s level of thinness and ideal body weight. Sixty
nine of the girls reported that magazine pictures influenced their idea of the perfect body shape
(Field). Not only is being thin associated with other positive characteristics such as, lovable, popular,
beautiful, and sexy, but being overweight is connected with negative characteristics like fat, ugly,
unpopular, and lazy. Therefore media is the distinct social pressure of operating to influence people to
be thin and causing eating disorders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientist have also found a new link that connects eating disorders to sever physiological problems.
People with anorexia or bulimia appear to have deficient amounts of serotonin, a brain chemical
associated with moods and emotions, circulating in their brains. The lack of serotonin is also linked to
people with depression (Chang). It is safe to state that another cause of eating disorders is depression.
The causes of depression are perhaps when people see the beautiful models, they depressed because
they don t look like them, so they long to look like them, and develop unhealthy eating habits.
When people look at the advertisements, movies, shows, and commercials and compare themselves to
the models, they look fat. They look and feel a lot larger because the models and examples they are
comparing themselves to are so unhealthy and skinny. Model Kate Moss is dangerously underweight
weighing ninety five pounds and standing five feet seven, this is thirty percent below the ideal body
weight (Field). In reality it is the reader who is more than likely to already have a healthy weight. The
models that everyone worships and compares themselves to, are unhealthy, underweight, and some
have fully developed eating disorders. A study found that twenty five percent of Playboy centerfolds
met the weight

  • 2. The Importance Of Technology In Communication Technology can play a positive role in communication ,example, live video and audio chats that increase understanding through nonverbal messages and increase connection at the same time. While technology like iMessaging can have a negative influence because it lacks nonverbal communication, can often be distracting us from life, makes people anxious when they have to wait for people to respond, is highly susceptible to misunderstandings and makes people feel lonely. On the other hand, FaceTime has been able to provide expressions and voice cues that help bring meaning to verbal messages which enhances trust and decreases the amount of misunderstandings that go on in conversations. While, the relationship that is most influenced by technology is my friends at Uconn because we spend most of the relationship face to face. A new communication technology I believe is having a positive influence on interpersonal relationships is FaceTime. FaceTime allows nonverbal communication to happen, which is one of the most important forms of communication as it plays a role in about sixty five percent of all face to face conversations. For example, my best friend and I would communicate about our daily troubles through FaceTime. We thought this would be beneficial to our friendship because through FaceTime we were able to distinguish other s feelings. By analyzing cross cultural communication, and its miscommunication in cultural differences, it is clear that employees should know more of a country s defining culture. Only recently have we seen an emphasis in understanding other country s cultures. In doing so, some businesses have prospered, while others have suffered after a terrible miscommunication. When dealing with culture, there are three segments that an employee should consider. What can be done before, during and after contact is made with the culture. In effectively preparing for one, a business may successfully send the message they wish to their client. Before even beginning communications, an individual should research the culture. When researching the culture, individuals should identify and understand normal business patterns in that location. This may include doing work before communication is started. For instance, in other cultures it is customary for a friendship to develop before communications may begin. In attempting to be on a friendly basis, clients may be more forgiving if a cultural mistake is made. While in other cultures, giving a gift before a negotiation takes place is normal. Her remarkable work of art and style has officially encouraged viewers to associate her style of artwork and compare its similarities to past artists such as the Dutch painter, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and the Italian Baroque painter, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Beginning with the similarities Zlotsky shares with Rembrandt. Both paintings share a theme of performing some sort surgery in a way for the practice of medicine. Obviously for Zlotsky it s the rabbit, but with Rembrandts painting, the cadaver on the table was an executed thief named Adriaen, whose body was sacrificed for the medicine field. Now, the similarities between Zlotsky and Caravaggio. These two artist share similar characteristics such as using the effect of chiaroscuro, but they both also have an example of trompe l oeil. Introduction John Humphrys is very irritated that the writing he knows is been spoiled by people who are using slag and abbreviations when communicating. He believes that writing has been wrecked in a huge manner as all that he though was right is now not considered in writing. He is also afraid that even in some areas where he thought that writing should be official and all the rules followed, a lot of the texting slag is used. As he states, people use the abbreviations to take care of time and use the shortest time possible to communicate. But instead this is not true since there are a big percentage of people who take time to understand the meaning of the abbreviations but some even fail to understand the meaning or misinterpret them after they have wasted a lot of time. Therefore Humphrys is determined to convincing people that texting has affected the proper way of writing. John Humphrys used the different strategies of rhetorical persuasion to persuade his audience and make it believe that what he is arguing about is true. Ethos This is an appeal dealing with ethics, (Charland et al, 2017). It is a way in which a person is convinced of the credibility or the character of the persuader. Amnesty International has called on the US to cease selling bombs, fighter jets, and combat helicopters to Saudi Arabia. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and anti government rebels has killed thousands of civilians, and two thirds of those lives were claimed by Saudi air strikes.4 4. The United States has not ignored the role foreign arms sales play in human rights violations. In 2014, President Obama issued a directive called Conventional Arms Transfer Policy. It clearly expresses that the United States should not sell military arms to countries that are unstable enough that they might turn the weapons against the US or its allies. The policy calls for officials to examine the risk that the recipient of the arms would use them to commit human rights violations or that the arms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What deepening insolvency cases have also focused on, however, is cash flow insolvency when a company incurs debt that would be beyond its ability to pay in future years and low capital insolvency when a company engages in a transaction or business that its capital base cannot support. Jacobs Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl Book Report In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Jacobs argues that many slaves were treated with extreme punishment and inhumanly in the south. She shows that slaves were treated more similarly to property than as workers or actual humans and the fear that they have because of it. This fueled many believers of the antislavery to take action in the abolition of slavery. Throughout Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Jacobs gives multiple examples that show the extreme treatment that many slaves encountered. When Jacobs was talking with Dr. Flint about her wishes to marry a free man and she spoke her mind, she was hit by Dr. Flint. Do you know that I have a right to do as I like with you, that I can kill you, if I please? (Jacobs, 64). This shows that it was not safe for a slave to speak openly and honestly to their masters. If a slave s master was not satisfied, they had every right to punish, rape, or kill the slave because they were considered to be property. This could also be one of the reasons that Jacobs uses the pseudonym Linda Brent; for her own protection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The grandmother s use of the word ought should give you an idea that she is southern because if this story took place up north she would have said something like you should . • 40. Persuasive Essay On Violent Video Games Everyone in the world has a hobby, no matter how big or small. For some, it is writing, reading, or building objects. It just depends on what interests that person. Since video games were created, they have fascinated people. They provide another form of entertainment. This is especially prominent in the United States today. Due to video games, America has begun to see certain trends arise. Among these is the claim that they cause violent behaviors and other negative consequences. Violent video games are acceptable for many age groups in America today for several reasons. Firstly, the banning of video games is unconstitutional and violates the first amendment. There have been a few states that tried to regulate and even ban the sale of certain games to minors. However, these laws were brought to the attention of the Supreme Court and the laws were determined to be unconstitutional. The laws the states tried to pass violated Freedom of Speech and expression. One article that had plenty of examples of such cases was: Violent Video Games: Should the government pass laws restricting children s access to violent video games? . An example of a law that was deemed to be unconstitutional is the one California tried to pass: In 2011, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7 2 in the case Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association that a California law banning the sale of violent video games to children without parental consent violated the Constitution. All the similar cases were also deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme court: The repeated rejection of such measures by the courts, however, did not dissuade other states from passing similar ones; in 2005 alone, California, Illinois, and Michigan each passed laws restricting the sale of violent video games to minors. The courts ruled all of them unconstitutional. Consequently, people argue that video games need to be regulated to protect America s youth. Their way of regulating is to ban the sale of violent games to minors. However, as discussed above, this is unconstitutional and does not work anyways. They also do not have a solid plan as to how to regulate video games. Therefore, the best way to regulate video games is for parents to educate themselves on the current ...
