2.3 A proper balance between the: task oriented and the human relations aspects, required in every
teaching learning situation , enables teachers to create a teaching learning situation with a positive
atmosphere. Maintaining a balance between the structural (formal) and human relations (informal)
aspects requires a holistic approach to classroom management. The combination and integration of
these two dimensions represent the actual structure of the classroom situation, which includes all
areas of the teacher s management task. These studies revealed a clear correlation between
classroom atmosphere and pupil performance of grade 9 and grade 10 pupils in 12 secondary

Essay about The Flight Path of Airplanes Over Neighborhoods
The Flight Path of Airplanes Over Neighborhoods The houses can t be unbuilt, and the airports
can t be torn down. But maybe the fences can be mended. Robbie Sherwood In the past 10 years,
many cities across the country have outgrown the planner s expectations. Unfortunately the airports
that were built 20 or more years ago, have not grown with the cities. Phoenix has tripled in size in
the past 10 years. The tripling of air traffichas not had anywhere to go. The same two runways that
have been serving the city since 1935 when the airportwas built have been extremely over loaded.
It is not just happening in Phoenix, a few years ago Denverreceived a new airport to relieve the
overflow of traffic from the older Stapelton... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The airspace is always changing to support more and more traffic. The older airport system is
not able to support the increased traffic. If all the sides were looked at, the advantages to having
a strong air travel system in a large city far outweigh the drawbacks. When the busiest two
runway airport in the world (Phoenix), has to go through 7 years of red tape bureaucracy to get
a runway built, something is wrong with the picture. The procedure should be modified so that
changes can be made to the facility when it needs to, not 10 years later. The way to get this done
is that we need to start an awareness campaign to let our government know what we want. We live
with a democratic government, so we should take advantage of it to speak out for something we
want. The most effective way of making our congressman aware of the issue is through a writing
campaign. We need to write and have our friends write to get the word out that airports are needed.
If the rule makers are aware that there are many people that do want aviation, it might speed up
the process. Speaking about airport expansion, There are only 3 runways expansion projects in the
country right now on the drawing board, Phoenix, Orlando, and Cleveland. It takes an
extraordinarily large amount of red tape to get a runway built, or lengthened (Sullivan 10 27 98).
When I speak of red tape, I mean the bureaucratic process to get the necessary

Introduction. Managing Autism Can Be A Challenge To Cope
Introduction
Managing autism can be a challenge to cope with in any family with out understanding ASD. In the
article, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Catherine Lord explains autism spectrum disorder, or ASD, as a
neurodevelopmental syndrome that is defined by deficits in social reciprocity and communication,
and by unusual restricted, repetitive disorder (2000. P355). Parenting a child on the autism
spectrum is difficult for any parent who is uneducated about the specific disorder their child is
faced with. Most parents of children with disabilities or chronic health problems suffer a
tremendous amount of stress. Connie Anderson Ph.D., states that there is evidence that parents of
children with autism spectrum disorder suffers the most stress ... Show more content on

ASD can alter a person s functioning at different levels from very mildly to sever. Although autism
is a disorder that causes complications with social interactions and learning abilities, people with
ASD can vary from severely challenged to gifted. Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42
boys (Autism.2017.Para4). The National Institute of Health suggest that autism is one of the fastest
growing developmental disorders in the United States (2016.Para7). ASD is unique in that it is
common for people with ASD to have many strengths and abilities. Scientists does not know the
exact causes of ASD, but research suggest that genes and environment play important roles
(NIH.2016.Para2). Most parents often blame themselves when they have a child with special needs.
Because of its links to genetics and neural development and the severe abnormalities in social
interaction by which it is defined, autism offers the opportunity for scientists to study the
neurobiological origins of social communication skills basic to human behavior (Lord. 2000.P2).
The National Autism Association points out that autism itself does not affect life expectancy,
however research has shown that the mortality risk among individuals with autism is twice as high
as the general population, in large part due to drowning and other accidents (2017. Para1).
Comorbid conditions often associated with autism include

Music AppreciationRadio Report
Instead of attending a concert and writing a concert report, I decided to do the radio report. On
April 24, 2007, I listened to the station WWOZ 90.7 FM from seven to eight p.m. It was hosted
by Jivin Jean and Neal. The theme of that session was the 50 s Rhythm and Blues. Because the
Jazz Fest is approaching, they decided to feature some of the artists that would be performing. In
which they varied from Percy Sledge to the Fister Sisters. The first song that they played was no
other than, Jazz Fest in New Orleans by the Fister Sisters. The lead vocalist of the group was

The next song was Golden Eagles Indian Red. It began with an Indian chant with other Indians
pledging in the background. They were saying how they were the Indians of the Nation. It had a
live feeling to it because you could hear the tambourines, Indian drums, and the Indians yelling
in the background. Charlie Miller s Piano Night 2003 featured only a piano and a saxophone. It was
very boring and off tempo to me. It didn t have a melody or much of a beat that you could follow. It
was just thrown together. Check Mr. Popeye by Eddie Bo was very outdoorsy to me. It had a live
music fest type mood to me. The man was singing about meeting up with Popeye and telling him
to check his spinach. The song didn t make much sense to me, but I enjoyed it. I liked Sea Cruise
by Johnny Rivers a lot. The man was singing/begging to take a girl on a sea cruise. It reminded
me of the movie Cry Baby a little, which is one of my favorites. I enjoyed doing the radio report,
but I d rather do a concert report. It was difficult trying to keep up with the names of the songs
when they would announce it. At a concert I would be given a program to follow. But my overall

In American history, we have good authors, great authors and some bad. One of the most famous

papers and moved from place to place. In 1867 he visited France, Italy and Palestine. Twains two
greatest masterpieces, Tom Sawyerand Huckleberry Finn were drawn from his childhood

Terrorism Stereotypes
Within the twenty first century, terrorism has sparked a global hysteria. In recent years the
group ISIS or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria seems to be the cover of every newspaper and
TV broadcasts headlines and breaking news. Since June of 2014 the group has inspired at least 90
different terrorists attacks in 21 countries around the world, killing around 1,400 people and
critically injuring 2,000 others (ISIS attacks). This trend has pushed men and women from western
cultures to research stereotypes many Westerners hold against Middle Easterners. Some examples
of these stereotypes include: All Middle Easterners are Muslim. All Muslims are terrorists. Islamis a
violent religion. Muslims are all foreigners who can not adapt to Western culture. (Typical

The North Carolina At Chapel Hill Essay
As today s controversy surrounding Confederate memory grows, it begins to include not just the
popular monuments to the Confederacy such as Stone Mountain, and monuments to General Lee,
Jefferson Davis, and Nathan Forrest. Now even lesser memorials such as Silent Sam have also
come under attack from civil rights activists lately. Silent Sam has stood on the University of North
Carolinas main campus in Chapel Hill for over 100 years. In that time there have only been a few
times in which Sam has been the object of criticism.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of the most prestigious and well known
educational institutions in the United States. Students from all over the country as well as all over
the world come to the University of North Carolina for furthering their education. This makes Silent
Sam one of the most important monuments of the Confederacy and a continuing example of how
deep the ties to the Confederacy still run.
Built in part by slave labor, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a long and
troubled past where it comes to Confederate Memory. The Memorial at the University of North
Carolina campus called Silent Sam, has been the center of much of the controversy in recent
history. Many historians and journalists have put their ideas and facts out for the public to
consider. This paper will touch on the significant players in the controversy as well as add a new
outlook as to the need to keep Silent Sam right where he is

Albert Durer s Whore Of Babylon
Albert Durer s Whore of Babylon, from the Apocalypse
The Whore of Babylon woodcut by Albert Durer was one of fifteen woodcuts in his famous
series, The Apocalypse which was published in 1498. This woodcut series portrays scenes from
the book of Revelation in the bible, concerning the end of the world. It was created at a time
when Europe anticipated the Last Judgement , as Germany was experiencing plagues, religious
debates, and peasant movements towards the end of the 15th century. Durer became wealthy and
rapidly well known across Europe because of this series. He began working on these woodcuts on
his trip to Italy in 1494 1495, and the first two editions were published in 1498 in Nuremberg,
Germany, in both German and Latin. He later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the use of a tool, a burin, to create extremely thin and subtle lines in an engraving.
The medium used for an engraving is metal and is created using an intaglio method. Unlike the
relief process of printmaking, this process is a positive one. The artist scratches the image onto the
metal plate, inks the surface of it, and wipes it clean. As a result, ink is placed into the carved
out drawing. Next, the plate is run through a roller press which causes the ink to absorb to the
paper. The difference in appearance between a relief print and an intaglio print is because of
essentially drawing the image to be created onto the metal plate for an intaglio print. Also cross
hatching, the use of fine parallel lines to create the illusion of shade, allowed for more subtle
shading in the engraving. This engraving portrays the melancholy personality of artists and Durer,
himself. It is suggested that the winged figure represents Durer because of the location of his
monogram or logo underneath the bench that figure is sitting on. Her pondering stance represents
an artistic genius who is looking for inspiration, but cannot find it, therefore experiences despair
in her/himself. The winged child sitting to the left of the winged female, represents anxiety that
the uninspired artist could be experiencing. In addition, in the upper left corner, a bat is found
with the words melencholia beside it. The bat represents melancholy because it only appears or
comes out at night and is linked with the darkness. Durer contrasts melancholy and the light of
inspiration by associating this bat in the dark sky with rays of light. Essentially, because of the
wood medium used in the Whore Of Babylon, lines appear broader, whereas using metal as a
medium allowed the Melencollia engraving to display more subtle lines and

The sawtooth oak (Quercus acutissima) is in the red oak family. Native to Asia, it is noted for
its fast growth (two feet per year) and early acorn production. The first acorns are routinely
produced in five to 10 years versus the 25 or 30 years it usually takes native oaks to start
producing acorns. The acorns are large and dropped in September or early October. The sawtooth
is also noted for its consistent annual production and not being as subject to frosts or poor crops
which often limit white oak production. Although the red oak group has a reputation for being less

Witchcraft in Contemporary African Society Essays
I.INTRODUCTION
The Enlightenment and the emerging of modern rationalism have paved the way to a worldview
where the suspicion of witchcraft is not needed to explain the mysterious phenomena of this world.
This is not the case in Africa. The belief in the existence of witches, evil persons who are able to
harm others by using mystical powers, is part of the common cultural knowledge. Samuel Waje
Kunhiyop states, Almost all African societies believe in witchcraftin one form or another. Belief in
witchcraft is the traditional way of explaining the ultimate cause of evil, misfortune or death. The
African worldview is holistic. In this perception, things do not just happen. What happens, either
good or bad, is traced back to human action, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aylward Shorter adds It is the image of unrepentant human wickedness. John S. Mbiti also concur
with Shorter and Magesa, he states Witchcraft are the greatest enemies of society. Magesa thought
the English term is misleading in a sense that In Africa, it is not a craft but the mysterious power of
evil potentially in every human being that manifests itself in all areas of life society, politics,
economy, religion, etc.
When something bad happens, people hardly ask how it occurred but who did it. It is believed that
every misfortune is caused by humans or spirits. There might be exceptions when it comes to global
catastrophes, but personal or family problems are always caused by someone. If the individual or
the clan cannot find personal faults that would justify a correction from the ancestors, witchcraft is
suspected. The offender is someone known because these powers do not function anonymously.
There has to be contact between the witch and the victim.
Characteristics of a Witch
Shorter defines witchcraft as the inborn power to harm others secretly and unjustifiably. This
mean, there is no reason, it shows that witches harm randomly because they are driven to do so.
According to Magesa, they operate psychically and project from the mind their powers on the
victim. There is no rite preformed or spell uttered. Magesa draw a dichotomy between a sorcerer
and a witch thereby states, The use

What Is The Purpose Of Romantic Poems By Wordsworth
LYRICAL BALLADS, A EXPERIMENT

In the Advertisement included in the 1798 edition of the lyrical ballads, Wordsworth explained why
this project of his was an experiment
The majority of the following poems are to be considered as experiments. They were written
chiefly with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower
classes of society is adapted to the purpose of poetic pleasure. (Lyrical Ballads, Wordsworth)
The basic purpose of this experiment was to revolt against the existing poetic practices that were

It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan
age. Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time,
the preface and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many
poems Wordsworth himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation
of lyrical ballads Coleridge himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the
criticism on Wordsworth s theory of poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely
i.e. that of poetic diction and the language of real men etc while he still believed in the great
importance of Nature in poetry that is the common characteristic of all romantic literature, but at
the same time his poems are not solely based on the natural. He believed that the objective of
poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is the complete opposite of what
Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence of which is that just like a
living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without injury, all parts of a poem
must fit together as a whole. In his work, Coleridge in addition to writing about his own ideas,

Gidden s argues that agency and structure cannot exist without each other. Agency is the
individual s ability to make free choices in society. These choices that they make are not guided by
anything but their own desires, needs and wishes to fulfill. The concept of the agency is free will
and the ability of an individual to make decisions in their world that they want to make as an
individual choice. Another way Giddens sees agency is that it is not a combination of separate acts,
but a continuous flow of conduct . Structure on the other hand, is social forces that exist outside of
the individual thoughts that influence the decisions that people make. The structure has a bigger
influence on the individual than the individual can on the structure of society. The structure has a
big role in the choices individuals make in their

The Thematic Elements Of William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Nobility or shame
The thematic elements found throughout many of William Shakespeare s plays are numerous.
Such themes further develop the plot of the story and help explain a universal purpose the story
has. Imagination seeps through every crevice in the reader s mind as to what a theme can be
alluding to. Throughout many of Shakespeare s written works, it can be noted that death, in
particular suicide, is a relevant and ongoing theme that Shakespeare gives way to. A prime example
is that of the well known tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare does not stop at the tragedy of
the star crossed lovers, but further goes on to write several more tragedies that deal with suicide
such as: Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Othello, and Hamlet. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the rise of the Renaissance era, the motto death before dishonor was implanted in many
courtly ideals. Many chose to die than to have dishonor upon their name. It would be a burden that
they would live with for the rest of their lives if their name was put to shame. Suicide was given the
bad shoulder during this time, but many writers shined a light on it that further enhanced a work of
literature.
Shakespeare was one of the many writers that shined a light within the theme of suicide. Suicide in
his works further enhanced the development of the story. This is because suicide is a recurring
theme that gives way to understand the cultural impact that comes with being a mortal.
Shakespeare opens the window to this developing theme that is shunned upon by society. In order
to understand why suicide is a key theme that further develops a story, one has to understand the
social repercussions that suicide holds during that time. In Shakespeare s Hamlet it can be noted
that even though Hamlet did not go through with contemplated suicide, he still thought about
whether he should go through the difficulties of life and keep on suffering. For instance,
Shakespeare writes and by opposing end them (page.127, line 68). By opposing the Christian
moral views, he knows and values, Hamlet knows that suicide will end all his troubles and he will
be at peace. Hamlet decides not to partake in such action. This further

Argumentative Essay On Yucca Mountain
Although the Battle Born state is famous for many things: the Comstock Lode, glitzy Las Vegas,
Mark Twain, and Area 51, to name a few; Yucca Mountain has no real history or claim to fame at

My Yoga Journey
This is not a book about how to practise yoga postures but rather an approach as to how to include
a search for consciousness in every aspect of yoga. Our yoga journey is the tool for understanding.
My yoga journey started more than ten years ago with an intense and dedicated interest in learning
yoga postures from Ashtanga, Hatha, Jivamukti, etc. In the beginning I practised most days of
the week and imagined that I would never tire, in spite of long trips to the studio in the early
hours of the morning. A pleasant reward was that my blood pressure dropped back to normal
and I could stop taking medicines. So, from the start, I knew that yoga could provide health
benefits as well as an enormous feeling of wellbeing. No matter how tired and fed up one felt at
the beginning of a session, the mental lift afterwards was deeply satisfying. Meditation, Savasana,
or corpse posture, wound up every session so it also became clear that postures or asanas were
only part of the remedy. Meditation and yoga practise from the very beginning fired my interest in
searching for an inner consciousness. This is an easily misunderstood word and means many
different things to many different people. Some will associate it with awareness, or mindfulness ...

Corporate Income Tax In The United States
Corporate income tax is one of the highest taxes in the United States, and for several beneficial

How Did Thucydides Contribute To The Peloponnesian War
Thucydides, an Athenian who lived during the Peloponnesian War (431 404 BC), may be one of
the earliest western war theorists thanks to his work, History of the Peloponnesian War. His history
described the conflict between ancient Athens and Sparta. In doing so, he authored one of the most
balanced and powerful explanations of the causes of war.
Thucydides, linked to the Athenian aristocracy, enjoyed a wealthy upbringing and education as a
youth. As an adult, he served as a commander for Athens. He witnessed a number speeches, debates,
and events or heard them second hand that decided the many courses the war would take. This all
bears out in the articulate, informed narrative of the war from tactical through strategic levels.
Surprisingly, Thucydides maintained an objective perspective through much of his history. One
assumes that as an Athenian, he would take a pro Athens approach. However, two reasons provide
balance and significance to his work. First, following the loss ... Show more content on

It is a type of argument that states that if the premises of an argument are true than the conclusion

To understand the case of Alejandro Phillips v. Columbia Pictures, it is very important to look at
the arguments and points that can be made by both sides. First, I will examine the legal claims of
Mr. Phillips. The main argument made by Mr. Phillips was that Columbia Pictures was negligent
in how they marketed and advertised the movie Boyz N the Hood. He argued that the movie s
advertising falsely represented the movie by depicting only the main scenes of violence and leaving
out the pacifist themes at the heart of the movie. Mr. Phillips obviously believes that this false
representation is what caused the violence that lead to him being shot outside the theatre at the
showing of this movie. Now the question is whether or not Mr. Phillips s arguments have any root
in the legal realm. Can a company be held liable for leading consumers down the wrong path,
whether intentionally or not? According to the verdict reached in Denny v. Ford Motor Company,
yes, Ads and marketing materials can subject manufacturers to litigation and, ultimately, to liability
(Giliberti, p. 53). In this case, the Denny family was suing Ford because of a flipping incident
that occurred in the Denny s Bronco II while driving on normal roads. Ford argued that they were
not liable because the Bronco II is supposed to be used primarily for off road driving. In response,
the Dennys introduced a Ford marketing manual predicting that many buyers would be

The Inaccurate Western Civilization In The 16th Century
In the 16th to mid 20th century, Western powers and knowledge have dominated other countries,
due to the Western superiority to the other cultures in terms of civilization. According to Said,
having knowledge is to dominate it; having authority is to deny autonomy to the Oriental country.
Evidently, the inaccurate Western cultural perception towards Eastern world has resulted in the
practice of power over, what they presumed, the weaker countries. Java was once an influential

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is currently thought to be the most common sexually transmitted
infection (STI) in the United States with roughly 79 million Americans currently affected

the cutaneous epithelium and cause common skin warts. Approximately 40 types of HPV infect the
mucosal epithelium and are categorized according to their epidemiological association with cervical
cancer: low risk type is associated with non oncogenic types and cause benign or low grad

2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean
erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunamiwas caused by a
massive 9.0 earthquakethat was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the
Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared
to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in
every direction and displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000
miles to Africa, but still carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists
concluded that the tsunami height was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the

The American Dream In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was written in 1952, a time in which the African American
community was facing new hardships that differed from the hardships of the generation before
them. Slavery in the United States was outlawed in 1865 after the Civil War with the passing of the
Thirteenth Amendment, but Jim Crow Laws, social norms, and inherited biases continued to make
the American Dream virtually impossible for anyone whose skin color was darker than eggshell.
Today, many of us believe that outright racismhas been defeated; that because we eradicated
sayings like separate but equal , and white is right means there is no way we are like the people in
the 1800s or the early 1900s. In Invisible Man, Ellison highlights the differences between two
generation s problems, however, many of the stereotypes, phrases, and anecdotes Ellison utilizes in
this work shines a light on our own generational issues with race.
President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to
win or lose. L.B.J alludes to the idea of an American dream that if you failed yesterday you can
work hard enough and still make a good life for yourself or your family, but can African
Americans work hard enough? Many older generations of the black community did truly believe in
the American dream. When someone goes from being in bondage to being free, even if that
freedom is limited, it may feel as though anything is possible but for the generations that were

have taken place from July 26th, 1953 January 1st, 1959. During a heated election, Sergeant
Fulgencio Batista took supremacy which caused the revolution that began in 1952. It had begun to
dawn on Batista that he may lose the election which caused him to take power before the election
could take place. The elections were canceled there after. Many individuals were aghast by this
command of power, this included Fidel Castro. Castro was likely to have won the elections if the
electrons had taken place and because of this Castro began plotting Batista s failure.... Show more

In order for him to get his revenge he needed weapons. With this thought, he chose his target to
be Moncada barracks which was a perfectly secluded location. Castro s plan was to have one
hundred and thirty eight men attack the compound at dawn and anticipated that the element of
surprise would makeup for their lack of numbers and weaponry. The strike was a disaster and the
rebels were overpowered after only a handful of hours. Many individuals were taken captured
and nineteen federal soldiers were killed. The ones that had survived took their hatred out on the
rebels that were captured during the attack. Later, a public trial took place with Castro and the
rebels who had survived. The trial turned into a topic of power grab when Castro turned the tables
on the Batista totalitarianism. Fidel s case during trial, was that he had taken actions against the
government because he felt it was his civic duty. The government continuously told him to be
quiet and told him he didn t know what he was talking about during his speeches because they
thought he was too ill to attend his own trial. On a bad note, his sentence was 15 years in prison
but he had become known as a hero to many underprivileged

Feminist Perspective In The K-12 Art Education Curriculum
A clearly defined Black feminist perspective cannot be found in the K 12 art education curriculum
at this time. Although several articles from Wanda Knight and Jessie Whitehead have discussed the
importance of including a Black feminist and woman of color perspective, nothing definitive can be
found in the current art education curriculum. Through the use of Charles Mills theory of
revisionist ontology, I will discuss the importance and value of including a Black feminist
perspective in the K 12 art education curriculum.
Overview of K 12 Art Education and the Need A Feminist Perspective in Art
Art education has many facets that are beneficial to art students. In the field of art education,
aesthetics (as in the philosophy of art) attends to the development of critical thinking skills and
philosophical inquiry through classroom dialogue (Ambush, 2008, p.14). In art education, the
student has the opportunity to understand and learn visual aesthetics, cognitive, motor, emotional,
social, and artistic skills to express critical thinking, sensitivity, and cultural identity (SchoГ±au,
2013). In An Exploration of the Issue of Stereotyping in the Artroom, Sheng Kuan Chung (2008)
examines the issue of stereotypes and claims art education offers students the opportunity to
examine prejudiced or unjust social practices that permeate society and to confront such practices
from a critical point of view (p. 24). Analyzing the concept of race and gender stereotypes is critical,

Taliban Research Papers
Milestone #2: Terrorism relating to the world
Megan Wilton Penn State Harrisburg
The Taliban is an Afghani and Pakistani terrorist group. They are a large organization, with a
religious base. The group, like several other terrorist organizations, have extremist views in relation
to Islam. They operate primarily in the Middle East, but also operate elsewhere in the world. In
this paper the focus will be on the Talibans relationship with the world outside of their comfort
zone.
Background
The Taliban consists of mostly Sunni Muslim Pashtuns, the largest Afghan ethnic group,
historically. The Taliban occupied parts of central western Afghanistan through a significant amount
of the south and eastern border (Afsar, 2008). The core of the group ... Show more content on

In respect to the nature and motivation of their attacks the two fields are extremely closely related
which was seen in their attack on the University. Their political ideologies are interchangeable with
their religious ideologies they have the same ultimate goal. Although the Taliban can be classified
as both domestic and international terrorist, the majority of their actions are domestic terrorism
where they carry out attacks on their home region and their own religious affiliates. The Taliban
often carries out attacks on their own people. The Federal Bureau of Investigation identifies
domestic terrorism with the following three characteristics: involve acts dangerous to human life
that violate federal or state law; appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii)
to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of
a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the
territorial jurisdiction (FBI). Although the Taliban has committed terrorist acts outside of their
territory, the majority of their attacks are on either their own soil or against their own

Pocahontas Historical Accuracy
The so called historical based films are evidentially lacking historical accuracy. In fact, it is one of
the most important elements and aspect of an exceptional film. Unfortunately, these types of
enterprises ultimately resulted from the concept of money, finance, and of course profit. Therefore,
modern historic films are focusing on entertainment, and excluded many significant historical
accuracy from the films, such as Disney s animated feature filmPocahontas. The content of this

The film primarily emphasize the love between Pocahontas and John Smith ; however, after the
critical analysis of both primary and secondary source document, many errors were displayed
throughout the movie. One of the major error was in fact: the relationship between Pocahontas
and John Smith. Pocahontas was a young girl of age 10 or 11 when she first became acquainted
with the colonists who settled in the Chesapeake Bay area in 1607, stated by a secondary source
document (Price, 1). At that time, Captain John Smith was at his late 20s; therefore, displays a
huge gap between the two, in terms of age. As a result, it was not practical for them to be in an
intense love, with romance scenes as portrayed by the movie (Gabriel, Pocahontas . Besides,

In-Depth Analysis On The Human Condition In English Class
Walking into class the first day of the second semester, I did not expect one thing: that this
classroom would soon become a location of in depth analyses on the human condition. Unlike
many English classes I have had in the past, English 20 has given me new perspectives into what
it means to be human by looking at how other people (primarily authors and directors) view the
human condition. The first baby step towards discovering my personal definition of the human
condition was an assignment wherein we were asked to watch multiple videos. Those videos
ranged from music videos to inspirational speeches to excerpts from books (1.1.2). This range of
mediums broadened the messages in the videos, as it forced me to respond differently to the

Technological Advancements Benefit Humanity
Technological Advancements Benefit Humanity Change in technology happens rapidly on a daily
basis. As Schlesinger expresses, The last two lifetimes have seen more scientific and technological
achievement that the first 798 put together (Schlesinger 41). Whether it deals with cars, travel,
medicine, media, or a host of other topics, advancements in technologyare occurring all around us.
It is up to us whether to accept these changes or not. Many believe that change in technology is a
hindrance, causing more problems than solutions. I believe technology has created a safer
environment, revolutionized the way we look at different ideas, and resolved many economic
problems in industries! In other words, change is inevitable and people... Show more content on

Some people say social media technology has caused a lack of social etiquette and personal
interaction. I have discovered that with great technology at our finger tips, it is teaching us how
to think outside the box, helping to reinforce intelligence. I have come to conclude that these
countless technological changes have helped us to evolve as a whole and to better our future.
These changes simplify the way we do many things in society and have also contributed to
making it a safer place to live. Change will happen, it is up to the people of the world to accept
and embrace it. What we have now will only become more advanced in the future.

Examples Of Racism In A Gathering Of Old Men
Racism Racism is a huge problem, especially here in the United States. The United States has
come a long was, but there is no doubt that there is much more progress to be made. People seem
to follow the patterns of others and fall in to the same issues. It is important that the cycle breaks
and individual learn to be independent and speak their own minds instead of following the
thoughts and beliefs of others. Until the chains are broken and people fall out of this endless
loop, racism will continue to be a major issue. Throughout many of the reading this semester, we
have encounter serious racism. In some cases the individual being a target of racism in turn
exhibits acts of racism themselves. The anger that these character feels can cause them to label all
individuals in a group as racist, which isn t fair at all. Some of the characters lose themselves due
to racism. They try to fit to the ways of another culturethat is more excepted than theirs. In A
Gathering of Old Men, the characters are set a little further back in time when areas were still
segregated. The characters do not get along with the majority of the white population, which is
completely understandable. The white community has moved in and taken over so much of their
land. They have caused these characters so much pain and suffering. The white community even
takes over the farming in their area. These characters can t do all the things that they used to do on
their land, because it is no

Illness Through The Eye Of The Beholder
Illness Through the Eye of the Beholder Because identities are both externally prescribed and
internally experienced, it is crucial that we evaluate the methodology by which medical
professionals identify and treat illnesses. At the point where suffering is unique to each individual,
it is important that we also consider the tools that each person has to describe their symptomology,
as to elucidate their sufferingin the context of the clinical perspective so that appropriate resources
and treatments would be made available to them. One such methodology used to understand
illnesses is known as the illnessnarrativein which Dr. Arthur Kleinman describes in his book, The
Illness Narratives, as [An] alternative therapeutic approach [originating] in the reconceptualization
of medical care as (1) empathic witnessing of the existential experience of suffering and (2)
practical coping with the major psychosocial crises that constitute the menacing chronicity of that
experience (10). Kleinman argues that this type of engagement between the doctor and the patient
is key to the recovery process of the patient. However, his argument relies on one, the effectiveness
of empathy through storytelling within the doctor patient relationship, and two, the ability of the
doctor to fully understand the illness experience depicted by the patient. These two implicit
assumptions are contested by Toni Morrison in her novel, Home, where she asserts that we cannot
fully empathize with another s

Essay on Censorship and Freedom of Speech
Censorship may be protection from inappropriate materials, but it also limits free speech. For the
limitation of free speech, it is reasonable why people are emphatically against censorship. It is
understood that there is a need to filter some of the materials released in today s society, but too
much is being done by people who have no right meddling with everyone s rights. Civilization has
always been plagued by a never ending battle being fought over what is deemed right and wrong. In
today s culture, censorshipoppresses everything in the media. From movies and music to television
and even news stories, most of the content viewed today has been filtered one way or another.
Restrictions have been in place since early societies have been... Show more content on

Today, censorship is in place in more ways than you can imagine. As mentioned previously,
movies, music, television, and more are filtered one way or another. Some people go to such
lengths as illegal means of spreading materials deemed inappropriate for a certain viewing
audience. When the United States was established, the first amendment guaranteed the rights to
free speech and free press. However, it has never been interpreted to mean that all forms of
expression are legal (Zorea). The common misconception is that people believe that all forms of
expression are legal, but that has never been the case, and probably never will be. Intellectual
freedom is important because it allows people to express their ideas or beliefs however they feel
is appropriate (Intellectual Freedom Manual). With censorship, that freedom is stifled and
breaches the right everyone has for that intellectual freedom. Also affecting that freedom is the
influence that outside sources can have on your own thoughts and actions. People tend to rely
more on television and other electronic media to give them false ideas or impressions. Currently,
censorship in music is possibly the most relevant form of censorship. One of the more disturbing
signs of censorship in music is a condition nearly snuck into the USA PATRIOT Act that would
allow the government to hack private citizens computers to delete what they consider to be illegal
MP3 song files (Blecha 179).

But maybe the fences can be mended. Robbie Sherwood In the past 10 years, many cities across the country have outgrown the planner s expectations. Unfortunately the airports that were built 20 or more years ago, have not grown with the cities. Phoenix has tripled in size in the past 10 years. The tripling of air traffichas not had anywhere to go. The same two runways that have been serving the city since 1935 when the airportwas built have been extremely over loaded. It is not just happening in Phoenix, a few years ago Denverreceived a new airport to relieve the overflow of traffic from the older Stapelton... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The airspace is always changing to support more and more traffic. The older airport system is not able to support the increased traffic. If all the sides were looked at, the advantages to having a strong air travel system in a large city far outweigh the drawbacks. When the busiest two runway airport in the world (Phoenix), has to go through 7 years of red tape bureaucracy to get a runway built, something is wrong with the picture. The procedure should be modified so that changes can be made to the facility when it needs to, not 10 years later. The way to get this done is that we need to start an awareness campaign to let our government know what we want. We live with a democratic government, so we should take advantage of it to speak out for something we want. The most effective way of making our congressman aware of the issue is through a writing campaign. We need to write and have our friends write to get the word out that airports are needed. If the rule makers are aware that there are many people that do want aviation, it might speed up the process. Speaking about airport expansion, There are only 3 runways expansion projects in the country right now on the drawing board, Phoenix, Orlando, and Cleveland. It takes an extraordinarily large amount of red tape to get a runway built, or lengthened (Sullivan 10 27 98). When I speak of red tape, I mean the bureaucratic process to get the necessary ... In the article, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Catherine Lord explains autism spectrum disorder, or ASD, as a neurodevelopmental syndrome that is defined by deficits in social reciprocity and communication, and by unusual restricted, repetitive disorder (2000. P355). Parenting a child on the autism spectrum is difficult for any parent who is uneducated about the specific disorder their child is faced with. Most parents of children with disabilities or chronic health problems suffer a tremendous amount of stress. ASD can alter a person s functioning at different levels from very mildly to sever. Although autism is a disorder that causes complications with social interactions and learning abilities, people with ASD can vary from severely challenged to gifted. Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys (Autism.2017.Para4). The National Institute of Health suggest that autism is one of the fastest growing developmental disorders in the United States (2016.Para7). ASD is unique in that it is common for people with ASD to have many strengths and abilities. Scientists does not know the exact causes of ASD, but research suggest that genes and environment play important roles (NIH.2016.Para2). Most parents often blame themselves when they have a child with special needs. Because of its links to genetics and neural development and the severe abnormalities in social interaction by which it is defined, autism offers the opportunity for scientists to study the neurobiological origins of social communication skills basic to human behavior (Lord. 2000.P2). The National Autism Association points out that autism itself does not affect life expectancy, however research has shown that the mortality risk among individuals with autism is twice as high as the general population, in large part due to drowning and other accidents (2017. Para1). Comorbid conditions often associated with autism include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This woodcut series portrays scenes from the book of Revelation in the bible, concerning the end of the world. It was created at a time when Europe anticipated the Last Judgement , as Germany was experiencing plagues, religious debates, and peasant movements towards the end of the 15th century. Durer became wealthy and rapidly well known across Europe because of this series. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to the use of a tool, a burin, to create extremely thin and subtle lines in an engraving. The medium used for an engraving is metal and is created using an intaglio method. Unlike the relief process of printmaking, this process is a positive one. The artist scratches the image onto the metal plate, inks the surface of it, and wipes it clean. As a result, ink is placed into the carved out drawing. Next, the plate is run through a roller press which causes the ink to absorb to the paper. The difference in appearance between a relief print and an intaglio print is because of essentially drawing the image to be created onto the metal plate for an intaglio print. Also cross hatching, the use of fine parallel lines to create the illusion of shade, allowed for more subtle shading in the engraving. This engraving portrays the melancholy personality of artists and Durer, himself. It is suggested that the winged figure represents Durer because of the location of his monogram or logo underneath the bench that figure is sitting on. Her pondering stance represents an artistic genius who is looking for inspiration, but cannot find it, therefore experiences despair in her/himself. The winged child sitting to the left of the winged female, represents anxiety that the uninspired artist could be experiencing. In addition, in the upper left corner, a bat is found with the words melencholia beside it. The bat represents melancholy because it only appears or comes out at night and is linked with the darkness. Durer contrasts melancholy and the light of inspiration by associating this bat in the dark sky with rays of light. Essentially, because of the wood medium used in the Whore Of Babylon, lines appear broader, whereas using metal as a medium allowed the Melencollia engraving to display more subtle lines and ... This is not the case in Africa. The belief in the existence of witches, evil persons who are able to harm others by using mystical powers, is part of the common cultural knowledge. Samuel Waje Kunhiyop states, Almost all African societies believe in witchcraftin one form or another. Belief in witchcraft is the traditional way of explaining the ultimate cause of evil, misfortune or death. The African worldview is holistic. In this perception, things do not just happen. Magesa thought the English term is misleading in a sense that In Africa, it is not a craft but the mysterious power of evil potentially in every human being that manifests itself in all areas of life society, politics, economy, religion, etc. When something bad happens, people hardly ask how it occurred but who did it. It is believed that every misfortune is caused by humans or spirits. There might be exceptions when it comes to global catastrophes, but personal or family problems are always caused by someone. If the individual or the clan cannot find personal faults that would justify a correction from the ancestors, witchcraft is suspected. The offender is someone known because these powers do not function anonymously. There has to be contact between the witch and the victim. Characteristics of a Witch Shorter defines witchcraft as the inborn power to harm others secretly and unjustifiably. This mean, there is no reason, it shows that witches harm randomly because they are driven to do so. According to Magesa, they operate psychically and project from the mind their powers on the victim. There is no rite preformed or spell uttered. It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan age. Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time, the preface and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many poems Wordsworth himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation of lyrical ballads Coleridge himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the criticism on Wordsworth s theory of poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely i.e. that of poetic diction and the language of real men etc while he still believed in the great importance of Nature in poetry that is the common characteristic of all romantic literature, but at the same time his poems are not solely based on the natural. He believed that the objective of poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is the complete opposite of what Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence of which is that just like a living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without injury, all parts of a poem must fit together as a whole. In essence, the watch acts as a foil to the harrowing situation that the antimatter theft creates. The mention of the Mickey Mouse watch provides irony due to its contrast with the present situation. • 39. Causes And Effects Of The Indian Ocean Tsunami When people ask me how it felt, I just say imagine being thrown into a washing machine and someone pressing on for 10 15 minutes (Crashing Down: A Tsunami Survivor Tells His Story), says Victor Israelsson, a survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunamiwas caused by a massive 9.0 earthquakethat was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in every direction and displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000 miles to Africa, but still carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists concluded that the tsunami height was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the average tsunami height is 3m (10 ft). The Indian Ocean Tsunami caused waves three times bigger than the average tsunami, the Indian Ocean Tsunami was the third largest tsunami in the 2000 s. An inverse method is developed to optimize the seafloor displacement on the fault plane based on the measurements of satellite Jason 1. Many things were affected during this tsunami, some things bigger than others. During the Indian Ocean Tsunami ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The American Dream In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was written in 1952, a time in which the African American community was facing new hardships that differed from the hardships of the generation before them. Slavery in the United States was outlawed in 1865 after the Civil War with the passing of the Thirteenth Amendment, but Jim Crow Laws, social norms, and inherited biases continued to make the American Dream virtually impossible for anyone whose skin color was darker than eggshell. Today, many of us believe that outright racismhas been defeated; that because we eradicated sayings like separate but equal , and white is right means there is no way we are like the people in the 1800s or the early 1900s. In Invisible Man, Ellison highlights the differences between two generation s problems, however, many of the stereotypes, phrases, and anecdotes Ellison utilizes in this work shines a light on our own generational issues with race. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. L.B.J alludes to the idea of an American dream that if you failed yesterday you can work hard enough and still make a good life for yourself or your family, but can African Americans work hard enough? Many older generations of the black community did truly believe in the American dream. When someone goes from being in bondage to being free, even if that freedom is limited, it may feel as though anything is possible but for the generations that were ... This event was found to have taken place from July 26th, 1953 January 1st, 1959. During a heated election, Sergeant Fulgencio Batista took supremacy which caused the revolution that began in 1952. It had begun to dawn on Batista that he may lose the election which caused him to take power before the election could take place. The elections were canceled there after. Many individuals were aghast by this command of power, this included Fidel Castro. In order for him to get his revenge he needed weapons. With this thought, he chose his target to be Moncada barracks which was a perfectly secluded location. Castro s plan was to have one hundred and thirty eight men attack the compound at dawn and anticipated that the element of surprise would makeup for their lack of numbers and weaponry. The strike was a disaster and the rebels were overpowered after only a handful of hours. Many individuals were taken captured and nineteen federal soldiers were killed. The ones that had survived took their hatred out on the rebels that were captured during the attack. Later, a public trial took place with Castro and the rebels who had survived. The trial turned into a topic of power grab when Castro turned the tables on the Batista totalitarianism. Fidel s case during trial, was that he had taken actions against the government because he felt it was his civic duty. The government continuously told him to be quiet and told him he didn t know what he was talking about during his speeches because they thought he was too ill to attend his own trial. • 43. Feminist Perspective In The K-12 Art Education Curriculum A clearly defined Black feminist perspective cannot be found in the K 12 art education curriculum at this time. Although several articles from Wanda Knight and Jessie Whitehead have discussed the importance of including a Black feminist and woman of color perspective, nothing definitive can be found in the current art education curriculum. Through the use of Charles Mills theory of revisionist ontology, I will discuss the importance and value of including a Black feminist perspective in the K 12 art education curriculum. Overview of K 12 Art Education and the Need A Feminist Perspective in Art Art education has many facets that are beneficial to art students. In the field of art education, aesthetics (as in the philosophy of art) attends to the development of critical thinking skills and philosophical inquiry through classroom dialogue (Ambush, 2008, p.14). In art education, the student has the opportunity to understand and learn visual aesthetics, cognitive, motor, emotional, social, and artistic skills to express critical thinking, sensitivity, and cultural identity (SchoГ±au, 2013). In An Exploration of the Issue of Stereotyping in the Artroom, Sheng Kuan Chung (2008) examines the issue of stereotypes and claims art education offers students the opportunity to examine prejudiced or unjust social practices that permeate society and to confront such practices from a critical point of view (p. 24). In-Depth Analysis On The Human Condition In English Class Walking into class the first day of the second semester, I did not expect one thing: that this classroom would soon become a location of in depth analyses on the human condition. Unlike many English classes I have had in the past, English 20 has given me new perspectives into what it means to be human by looking at how other people (primarily authors and directors) view the human condition. The first baby step towards discovering my personal definition of the human condition was an assignment wherein we were asked to watch multiple videos. Those videos ranged from music videos to inspirational speeches to excerpts from books (1.1.2). The United States has come a long was, but there is no doubt that there is much more progress to be made. People seem to follow the patterns of others and fall in to the same issues. It is important that the cycle breaks and individual learn to be independent and speak their own minds instead of following the thoughts and beliefs of others. Until the chains are broken and people fall out of this endless loop, racism will continue to be a major issue. Throughout many of the reading this semester, we have encounter serious racism. • 50. Illness Through The Eye Of The Beholder Illness Through the Eye of the Beholder Because identities are both externally prescribed and internally experienced, it is crucial that we evaluate the methodology by which medical professionals identify and treat illnesses. At the point where suffering is unique to each individual, it is important that we also consider the tools that each person has to describe their symptomology, as to elucidate their sufferingin the context of the clinical perspective so that appropriate resources and treatments would be made available to them. One such methodology used to understand illnesses is known as the illnessnarrativein which Dr. Arthur Kleinman describes in his book, The Illness Narratives, as [An] alternative therapeutic approach [originating] in the reconceptualization of medical care as (1) empathic witnessing of the existential experience of suffering and (2) practical coping with the major psychosocial crises that constitute the menacing chronicity of that experience (10). Kleinman argues that this type of engagement between the doctor and the patient is key to the recovery process of the patient. However, his argument relies on one, the effectiveness of empathy through storytelling within the doctor patient relationship, and two, the ability of the doctor to fully understand the illness experience depicted by the patient. These two implicit assumptions are contested by Toni Morrison in her novel, Home, where she asserts that we cannot fully empathize with another s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the limitation of free speech, it is reasonable why people are emphatically against censorship. It is understood that there is a need to filter some of the materials released in today s society, but too much is being done by people who have no right meddling with everyone s rights. Civilization has always been plagued by a never ending battle being fought over what is deemed right and wrong. In today s culture, censorshipoppresses everything in the media. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, censorship is in place in more ways than you can imagine. As mentioned previously, movies, music, television, and more are filtered one way or another. Some people go to such lengths as illegal means of spreading materials deemed inappropriate for a certain viewing audience. When the United States was established, the first amendment guaranteed the rights to free speech and free press. However, it has never been interpreted to mean that all forms of expression are legal (Zorea). The common misconception is that people believe that all forms of expression are legal, but that has never been the case, and probably never will be. Intellectual freedom is important because it allows people to express their ideas or beliefs however they feel is appropriate (Intellectual Freedom Manual). With censorship, that freedom is stifled and breaches the right everyone has for that intellectual freedom. Also affecting that freedom is the influence that outside sources can have on your own thoughts and actions. People tend to rely more on television and other electronic media to give them false ideas or impressions. Currently, censorship in music is possibly the most relevant form of censorship. One of the more disturbing signs of censorship in music is a condition nearly snuck into the USA PATRIOT Act that would allow the government to hack private citizens computers to delete what they consider to be illegal MP3 song files (Blecha 179). ...
