The Comic Strip Stereotypes
The comic I choose to review was one that addressed stereotype or discriminate
against a certain culture. The comic strip assumes that the certain culture acts or
behavior a certain way. Merriam Webster states: to believe unfairly that all people
or things with a particular characteristic are the same. People s perceptions are
influenced by their expectations. People have viewed about certain people are
usually learned their ancestor. Being able to decide quickly, which group a person
belonged to may have had survival value, since this enabled people to distinguish
between friends and enemies. People also base their opinions on past experience.
This then allows people to quickly process new information about an event or person.

Book Censorship In Schools
Book censorship is when specific materials are removed from public access, which
causes American schools to face challenges and curriculum modifications. To
understand why book censorship exists in America, the land of free, I will be
conducting a research that will expand my knowledge on why books are challenged
in society, the process of censoring books, and the educational impact of book
censoring. I will also be exploring court cases, groups that challenge schoolmaterials,
and ways to avoid censorshipin schools. The resources that will guide my research
consist of political cartoons and writers that have witnessed book or material banning.
With the help of the authors and illustrator s experiences, I will understand the
purpose of censoring
Music of Robert Schumann as a New Stage in the

Music of Robert Schumann as a New Stage in the Development of Romanticism
Music of Robert Schumann embodies many of the most characteristic features of
German Romanticism deep psychological insight, aspiration for the ideal, intimacy,
irony and bitterness. Advanced aesthetic tendencies of German culture in the period
of 1820 40s found vivid expression in his music. In contradictions, which are inherent
in Schumann s music, reflected the complex contradictions of the social life from his
time. His music is filled with a restless, rebellious spirit that puts him in the same line
with Byron, Heine, Goethe, Wagner and others. However, the theme of rebellion in
the music of Schumann has a psychological, but very lyrical representation.
Compared to Heinrich Heine, Victor Hugo, and Ludwig Van Beethoven who viewed
the world through the prism of social injustice, Schumann did not aim towards social
revolt. The greatest part of his diverse heritage was his personal confession in music.
Schumann s piano music, for instance, Kreisleriana, Op.16 and the Symphonic Etudes,
op.13, are truly a musical encyclopedia of the human soul with many nuances and
tones, with shades of colors of joy, sorrow, anguish, doubt and struggle, dreams and
anxieties, rush, despair, faith and courage.
E.T.A. Hoffmann in his writing Dichtungen und Schriften defined genius as a person
who is able to touch us, to move us mightily, the artist himself must be deeply
affected in his own heart. Effective
Down Syndrome Disadvantages
Being diagnosed with Down Syndrome is a difficult circumstance for someone and
their family. Could imagine scaling with the hardship of Down Syndrome, and also
fighting other biological disorders. Unfortunately, patient with Down Syndrome have
a constant battle with the struggles of Down Syndrome and the failure of their
bodies. Down Syndrome also bring its other disease and complications, the most
common diseases associated with Down Syndrome are thyroiddiseases, heart diseases
and obstructive sleep apnea. A patient with Down Syndrome may have problems with
thyroid gland. There are two types of thyroid diseases. The first type is
Hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is the state of not making enough thyroid hormone,
and is the most common thyroid problem associated with Down Syndrome. This can
be present at birth or may occur at any age (acquired). In newborns and infants with
Down Syndrome, the most common reason for hypothyroidism is that the thyroid did
not form correctly in the fetus. In acquired hypothyroidism, the most common

Apnea without breath is the term used when someone stops breathing for very
short periods of time, usually 10 to 20 seconds. During the apneic episode, the
child will have decreased oxygenation of the blood. Sleep disordered breathing has
been shown to affect cognitive abilities, behavior, growth rate and more the more
serious consequences of pulmonary (1). Some symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea
are snoring and restless/disturbed sleep. The treatment of obstructive sleep apnea is
usually removal of adenoids and/or tonsils. In conclusion, people with Down
Syndrome need more medical care because Down Syndrome is associated with other
disease. This means that a person with Down Syndrome is highly likely to suffer
from many other medical issues. These issues include thyroid disease, heart defects
and obstructive sleep
Effect Of Potential Energy On Roller Coasters
I.Science Fair Question
How does height (rise) and the loop radius influence the conversion of potential
energy to kinetic energy using a model roller coaster track?
II.Background Research
Did you ever wonder how a roller coaster works? Why does one roller coaster go
faster than another at certain points on the ride? This paper will discuss how
potential energy turns into kinetic energy at different points along the track of a roller
coaster. The important terms that will be discussed are potential energy (stored
energy), kinetic energy (energy of motion), gravitational potential energy (GPE), and
conservation of energy (basic law of physics).
Potential energy (PE) is the energy possessed by a body as a result of its position or
condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the absence of change in the amount a physical quantity, such as mass, during a
physical or chemical transformation (The American Heritage Student Science
Dictionary 80). In physics, conservation of energy cannot be made and it cannot be
ruined (Roller Coaster Marbles: Converting Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy).
Conservation of energy stays the same, the value doesn t change. Some types of
energy include kinetic, potential, gravitational potential, and heat. They can change
into different systems, but the value won t change as long as it has conservation of
energy. Conservation of energy itself and conservation of mechanical energy are two
types of energy. Conservation of mechanical energy is easier to understand and
calculate, but it only happens when everything is conserved (What is Conservation of

Covey s Concept of Empathic Listening
11/22/2010
Management 501, a curriculum rich in principles regarding issues both personal and
professional, has presented a myriad of concepts which represent tremendous truths
applicable to the concept of self improvement. Senge, Sholtes and Covey,
internationally renowned authors, provide a wealth of knowledge which empowers
individuals to effect life changing decisions through the planning, doing, studying and
acting (PDSA) upon these concepts. It is amazing that as others witness change in
us, via the practical application of these principles, many are encouraged to affect the
same in themselves. Of all the many concepts and principles I ve studied ... Show

I explained to my wife Susan the new concept of listening I had recently learned via
Covey and her response was so you re learning to become an empath , and began to
recite a list of known empaths.
I smiled and thought to myself, If you were aware of this concept, why haven t
you been using it. During interactions with my daughter, I have had the joy of
watching much different reactions and responses as I implement empathic
listening. Her responses are less defensive as she feels less the need to defend her
position and more open to engage in dialog versus discussion. I have tested
empathic listening with my wife Susan, and watched her responses become more
amiable as she doesn t feel challenged as we engage vocally. Conversations in general
seem to go smoother as dialog replaces defensive conversation. I also noticed while
attempting to engage in emphatic listening/dialog with one of my older children, in
which she repeatedly attempted to change the conversation from dialog to defensive
discussion. I had the fun of explain to her that this was dialog not discussion , giving
her the definition of both terms and explained that neither of us needed to defend our
position, just talk about it. Per the PDSA cycle, I will act by continually working to
improve my listening skills and seek opportunities to teach others the importance of
emphatic listening and the benefits it brings to relationships. How much do we
improve as individuals, what

Tuberculosis ( Tb ) Is Caused By Mycobacterium
Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which is an acid fast
bacterium. M. tuberculosis uses the respiratory tract as the principal portal of entry.
Tuberculosis is spread from person to person through microscopic droplets released
into the air. This can happen when someone that has the active form of tuberculosisin
the lungs which has not been treated coughs, speaks, sneezes, spits, laughs, or sings.
The majority of active cases result from reactivation of old dormant infections.
Although TB is contagious, it s not that easy to catch.
You re much more likely to get tuberculosis from someone you live with or work with
rather than from a stranger.
There are two TB related conditions that exist which are the ... Show more content on

TB can lead to spinal pain and joint destruction, meningitis, impair the liver and
kidney s waste filtration functions, cause blood in the urine, and can impair the heart
s ability to pump blood.
M. tuberculosis enters the respiratory tract where it travels to the lungs deep into
the alveoli and is engulfed by macrophages. One of the major features of M.
tuberculosis is its capacity to block the acidification of the phagosome and
consequently to disable phagosome lysosome fusion in phagocytic cells. After
time, the tubercles can change to a cheese like consistency called caseous lesions.
When caseous lesions calcify they are called Ghon complexes which show up on X
ray s. Tubercles can sometimes liquefy and form air filled tuberculosis cavities
which allows the bacteria to spread. This spreading of the bacteria can affect many
parts of body like the bladder, bones, brain, joints, kidneys, lymph nodes, spine, and
reproductive organs. Cell mediated immunity then develops and alerts T cells.
There are two kinds of tests that are used to conclude if a person has been infected
with
TB bacteria. These tests are the tuberculin skin test (Mantoux test) and TB blood
tests. A positive
TB skin test or TB blood test only tells that a person has been infected with TB
bacteria.

Background:
For the plants development to carry out general processes, an example being
photosynthesis, required for life. There are different roles which can be changed,
altered, removed or added that can affect the plant, an example being an increase
temperature, CO2. Iron is a micronutrient like iron, used by plants for plant growth,
it s role a key factor in enzyme present and able to carry out the the processes and
needed for the formation of chlorophyll. A reason as to why iron plays a key part in
the plants development, is due to the fact that the fundamental components of protein
found in the enzyme that controls a large sum of chemical reactions which happens
in a plant. A study carried out showed that iron aided in seed production needed for
activity in enzymes, however in the correct dosages.
A excess of iron can inhibit plant growth, also hindering photosynthetic electron
transport. An excess can also cause iron poisoning which causes the plants to change
in colour from green to yellow and the growth of the plant to be stunted. Increased
levels of iron can similarly cause a huge drop in plant s seed germination and iron
intake

that it carries more use in comparison to rice or maize

The Beach
You have been in the car for a very long three days. You have sat in a line of cars 10
miles long. You have endured your annoying siblings, stressed out parents and the
cramped space of the car. You have eaten junk food and soda for days. Your legs
are screaming to move, you think you will never arrive. You have heard rumors
about the beach. Sand so white it sparkles, water crystal clear, ships the size of
buildings, and hotel rooms the sizes of houses. You finally start to see the first signs
of the ocean first the tall tan coconut trees, then the smell of the salt water, and then
the roar of the waves. Then you finally see it the ocean, so big and so blue. Full of

After you and your family are done eating you continue on the boardwalk walk. As
you are walking you can t help but look into all the stores and surf shop windows.
You want everything in there but you know your parents will say no. Your parents
do however let you go into one surf shop that has little turtles. You beg your parents

know what you re going to choose, but you eventually decide on mint chocolate chip.
The mint chocolate chip is really good and maybe even better than the locale ice

After you re done with ice cream you head back to the hotel after letting your
stomach settle. Your family decides to go crabbing, you have never been crabbing
before and don t know what to expect. The first shock comes when you realize you

Bar Codes
How Much Do Your Mistakes Cost?
Brittney Roper, R.N.

Introduction
Proper patient identification in hospitals has been an issue for many years,
especially when it comes to blood specimen collection. Laboratory specimens being
mislabeled are a everyday cause of harm to patients including repeat diagnostic
procedures; repeat phlebotomy; delays in necessary surgical procedures; a
performing unnecessary surgical procedures (Dunn and Moga, 2010). This is not
only costly, but it is very stressing to patients and medical staff. The biggest concern
is the possibility of making a fatal error when it comes to specimen collection.
Without proper patient identification this risk increases substantially. Wallin,
Sodberg, Van Guelpen, Stenlund, Grankvist, and Brulin (2009) state that critical
errors in patient identification for blood testing occurs in up to one per 1000
specimens or procedures and misidentified specimens cause 160,000 adverse events
every year in America.
Bar coding has been introduced into many hospitals in the last several years. Using
bar codes on patients ID bracelets and labels for specimens has been the normal
practice for Saint Francis Hospital for some time. However, the labels aren t used as
well as they should be to prevent errors in patient care. According to Wickham,
Miedema, Gamerdinger, and DeGooyer (2006), implementing the use of bar codes for
patient identification will prevent
Julius Caesar And Calpurnia Relationship
In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Caesar and Brutus wives can each relate
to their husbands in different ways. Caesar s wife, Calpurnia, relates to him in the
sense that she wants power and money, just as Caesar does. Brutus wife, Portia,
relates to him in the sense that they both want what s best for the people, and they
keep everyone s interests in mind. After looking at both the wives, I believe that
Portia is more supportive to her husband, because she wants to help Brutus in
everything he does, and take part in it. Calpurnia is Caesar s wife, she is his third
and last wife. Calpurnia wants Caesar to become emperor of Rome, because she
wants recognition, money, and power. Throughout the play she is often seen away
from Caesar, apart from his gatherings to become emperor. In a scene that features
the couple together, Calpurnia tells Caesar of a dream that she s had. That day,
Caesar was set to go into town to promote himself. She warns him not to go,
because he was hurt in her dream, and she worried for his safety. He decides to go
anyway, (we later find out that he was killed there) but she doesn t go with him,

Self Reflection On My Writing And Learning Process Essay
Self reflection on my Writing and Learning Process
I think self reflection, or a careful cogitation of one s personal work, is very
important. It will help me think about my strengths and weaknesses in my writing
skills and learning process, so that I can improve my weaknesses in the future and
become a better writer. I believe, I have many strengths and many weaknesses that
can be seen transparently through my drafts, revisions, and final essays, or writings,
this semester. My overall strength includes the ability to pick out good examples
from articles and the ability to construct good development of my body paragraphs
after my revisions. On the other hand, my overall weakness includes having some
unclear explanation of thoughts, unclear topic sentences, confusing thesis statements,
having undefined terms, difficulties transitioning from one idea to another. I have
learned that to have a good essay, I must revise my papers more than once because
there are always flaws that can be fixed or improved. My writing process has
evolved from having difficulties writing down or explaining my thought process to
being able to explain and clarify examples to help support my thesis statement.
I am good at picking quotes that will support my argument. This skill can be seen
through multiple drafts that I have written. For instance, in assignment 1, draft 1, I
claimed that Richard Rodriguez is rude when describing his opponents. For my
quotes, I pulled negative words that Rodriguez used

Other airlines followed suit, creating their own systems. For example, Delta Air Lines
launched the Delta Automated Travel Account System (DATAS) in 1968. United
Airlines and Trans World Airlines followed them after in 1971, with the Apollo
Reservation System and Programmed Airline Reservation System (PARS).
The problem following these systems being developed is that travel agents begun
to push for a system that would automate their side of the process. Fearing this
would place too much power in the agent s hand. American Airlines executive
Robert Crandall proposed creating and industry wide computer reservation system
to be a central clearing house for U.S Travel. In 1976, United began to offer their
system APOLLO to travel agents so it wouldn t let them book tickets to United s
competitors. After this, other companies started following suit and release their
systems to travel agents. If we fast forward to today, the systems that were
developed by the airline companies have been crashing. One story recently showed
in November of 2016, Airlines report problems as booking system goes down , the
computer booking system used by major American Airlines had a malfunctioned back
in November. The system, known as Sabre said the outage happened in the middle of

Civil War Inventions
Civil War Essay
There are many inventions from the Civil War that we have improved upon and that
we still use today. Some of these inventions include hot air balloons, Long Range
Weapons, Warships, torpedoes, and the Gatling Gun. But three inventions from the
Civil War that we still use today are railroads, telegraphs, and Long Range Weapons.
Today, though all these have been improved upon, these inventions are still used to
help our country grow.
Railroads are a form of transportation which isn t used as much anymore, but in the
Civil War, it was a very important way of transportation. The transcontinental
railroad was invented around the Civil War and was a faster way to transport
goods, troops, and people. The Civil War was also the first war in US history to
use railroads because they were important in moving troops and goods faster. The
Civil War was the first war to use railroads, encouraged by President Lincoln himself
a former railroad lawyer who understood how vital they were for moving men and
supplies (http://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/feature/civil war innovations/).
The North also had an advantage as far as trains came with 20,000 miles of track

laid for the telegraph, mainly for military reasons. The telegraph also helped news
reporters to be able to spread the news more quickly. Obviously now we don t use
telegraphs anymore, but since the Civil War technology has developed and now the
telegraph has basically become the telephone. Today, we have updated the telegraph
to fit modern society, but the basic principle of the telegraph is still used
Water Purification Lab
Abstract: The main objective of this lab was to determine how to effectively measure
and compare bacteria in different water sources, specifically in this lab by using
Coleman Drinking Water Purification Tablets. The tablets did not eliminate bacteria
to the level found in tap water, however they were still very effective at eliminating
bacteria. The tablets as a result can be trusted by the user to remove any unnecessary
health risk when drinking water from an untreated source.

That is why it is of the utmost important to check the effectiveness of a hiker s
equipment. Water purification is the most important thing to have while out
hiking in the backcountry. A real world scenario was the only way of being able to
properly tell whether or not the Iodine tablets could be counted upon, when they
are the only thing being used for water remediation. The lab procedure start by
taking a river water sample from the Menomonee River, which was then separated
into three 1L beakers which were then filled to the range of .95L to 1L. The water
samples as is, were then swabbed for bacteria, and rubbed across a Tryptic Soy
Agar plate (TSA), to facilitate growth of bacteria if any was present in the water.
The water was then treated with the drinking water tablets per their instructions,
and was then swabbed again for bacteria after the 35 minute mark. This second
swab was then also streaked across a TSA plate in order to check if there was any
bacteria still present in the water. The previous methods were also performed
concurrently with three identical amounts of water from the city of Milwaukee tap
water. This was done to account for any bacteria that could have entered the water
from the air, due to the open air beakers. The bacteria, if present on the TSA plates,
were then allowed to grow over several days, and the resulting bacteria colonies were
then counted, and purification levels were compared between the drinking water
tablets and the treated city

The amount of insulation an object has will affect the amount of light it will
absorb and the amount of thermal heat conduction an object will reflect. (Lee H.,
2011). Thermal heat conduction is the transfer of internal energy, which is due to
different temperature rates. The color of an object doesn t affect insulation.
Insulation is usually the opposite of colors being absorbed and reflected against
light. Instead, insulation will only affect an object s color depending on the
temperature the object is being pressured by. For example, if an object has a dark
color and there is a high temperature being pressured onto the dark object, the object
will insulate heat inside. If the dark object was being pressured by a lower
temperature the object would not insulate heat inside of the object because dark
colors only insulate high temperatures (The University of

Information from the outside world comes through our senses. The information is
then interpreted, and this interpretation gives meaning to what is sensed. For
example, when you hear your alarm clock, the actual sound you hear is the
sensation. How you construe the meaning of the alarm is your interpretation. If it is
7 a.m. on a weekday, you would probably interpret the alarm as a signal to get
moving and begin the day. However, the same alarm may have a different meaning
on a holiday. You might perceive yourself as an absurd for setting the alarm, or you
might snicker at the alarm and roll over. In both instances, the sensation (the ring)
was the same, but your interpretation changed because of other factors.

Window Advantages And Disadvantages
The color, texture and pattern of various items in a space can contribute either
negatively or positively to how a particular room looks or feels. Windows are no
exception, and that is why it is of utmost importance to carefully consider how best to
dress them, so they can complement the rest of your dГ©cor.
To help you make an informed choice, we have come up with a guide to help you get
suitable window treatments for each room in your home. What s more we tell you
where you can find them at pocket friendly prices so that you get value for your
money.
First and foremost, it is important to note that these decorative elements do more than
just add aesthetics. They perform additional functions such as:
Controlling the entry of light
Blocking U.V rays
Providing privacy
Controlling temperatures in a room
Therefore, they are a necessary addition to any home. There are two major types to
choose from, the stiff and soft window treatments. Today, we will focus on the stiff

The Relationship Between War, Territory, And Arms Races
On...
As you look back into history you see that war is created for several different
reasons. In this paper I will be reviewing the relationship between war, territory, and
arms races on a dyadic level of analysis. Scholars have come to various conclusions
on different aspects of these two theories and I will discuss and evaluate a few
different perspectives or angles of each theory to see how they help contribute to the
creation of warbetween two interstates.
When examining the relationship between territoriality and war one might find
several different approaches to the connection between the two aspects. Territoryand
war have long been related between interstate wars for a long period of time. As you
take a look at past wars and how territory has played a major role in the escalation of
conflict you will find several different angles to the situations. One angle that has
shown vital data to relationship would be territorial contiguity between interstates.
When territory are contiguous to one another from past history it shows the
interstates are more likely to have disputes with one another. You could also
breakdown the terms of contiguity into proximity, interaction, and territoriality to get
an in depth view of a matter.
In Contiguity and Military Escalation in Major Power Rivalries the article discussed
the effect that contiguity has on nations decisions, particularly rivalry nations, of
escalating a conflict into war. The article broke down contiguity in terms based on
Afro-American Music
1A. Banalization is the trivialization of events so as to lessen their significance the
question of power in the telling of a narrative, in which the point of view is the
story being told. Versioning is a stand on the way the world works, the idea that
nothing came from nothing, in which everything is a version of something else.
Counter narrative identifies as a positional category, in which material is reread in a
new way. B. An example of banalization is the narrative of black lives matter
movement, in which has recently changed to all lives matter. The issues are of the
demand to be counted rather than being ignored has turned into the demand for all

To say that African descended populations and cultures have been erased is not an
unreasonable statement because the moment Africans were enslaved and taken from
their home country they were taught a false history, in which their past was not
filled with kingship but with destitution. For example, in Marcus D. Jones excerpt
Africa in Mexico, Jones states, Moreover, like the people of Coyolillo, the majority
of the inhabitants of the coastal communities south of the City of Veracruz have
even forgotten or perhaps were never taught the country s colonial past, when
enslaved Africans were brought directly from Africa to Mexico (Jones). Thus, many
Mexican people don t realize that they are in fact from African decent. If the people
of Mexico were taught of their past it would answer various question regarding the
ancestors of not only Spanish, Asian, and Indigenous but also African. Ultimately,
under colonial rule, Mexican society was divided into a system of social classes
where groups they were told particular aspects of their history; unfortunately, they

Introduction
I. Statement of the Problem and its Background
Information Technology is the area of managing technology that spans a wide variety
of areas that include computer software, information systems, computer hardware,
programming languages and are not limited to things such as processes, and data
constructs.
Anything that renders data, information or perceived knowledge in any visual
format whatsoever, via any multimedia distribution mechanism, is considered part of
the IT domain. IT had already crept in every nook and crannies of our lives, from e
commerce up to mobile banking and social networking sites and indeed information
technology is an undisputable part of our social and economical life today.

The Communist Manifesto
Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1848 amidst a wave of revolutions
that were changing the political course of Europe. The Manifesto is one of the most
influential political writings throughout the world. The Communist Manifesto put
forward a unique view on the relevance and significance of history which relied
more heavily on economical distinctions than revolutionary progress. It also
proposed a process, by which the working proletariat class would overthrow the
ruling bourgeoisie class and create a classless society in which private property
would be abolished. However, if looked at closely the Manifesto contains some
contradictions and oversimplifications that allow communismto be suspect to

In the overthrow of the bourgeoisie the communists goal is to create a classless
society in which private property will be abolished in favor of a state controlled
common labor system. While this ideally would be a solution to the immoralities of
bourgeois society, it places a great deal of trust in the hands of the few, who in
theory could be just as immoral and exploitative as the old bourgeois society.
However, in capitalism, Marx argues, the worker only labors for the advancement of
the bourgeoisie, but in a communist society his work serves only to better the society
as a whole, and therefore his own life as well. The bourgeoisie will object to the
abolishment of things such as religion, laws, political science, and morality, that have
all stood up to the test of time, saying that these are eternal truths that are common to
all history. However Marx replies that the Communist revolution is the most radical
rupture with traditional property relations; no wonder that its development involves
the most radical rupture with traditional ideals (52) This chapter also lays out ten key
principles to the communist ideology. These include the abolition of private property
and inheritance, a large income tax, centralization of the economy and transportation
in the hands of the state, the establishment of a common labor system, and free public

The Effect Of Lactoferrin And Its Effects On The Human
Body
INTRODUCTION Lactoferrin (Lf) is a member of a 300 500 million years old
transferrin family (Teng, 2002). It is a single chain protein of approximately 690
amino acids and a molecular weight of 77kDa (Nuijens et al., 1996). Lactoferrin
(also known as lactotransferrin) was first identified in 1939 as a red protein that
was present in bovine milk (Sorensen and Sorensen 1939). Lf is a whey protein
found in the milk and other biological fluids (including tears, pancreatic juice,
mucous, saliva, bile, genital and nasal secretions and in circulating neutrophils) and
other tissues of mammals (Bellamy et al., 1992). Other members of the transferrin
families are serum transferrin, ovotransferrin, melanotransferrin, and the inhibitor
for carbonic anhydrase Transferrins are iron binding blood plasma glycoproteins
and their function is to control the level of free iron in biological fluids such as the
ones mentioned above (Crichton and Charloteaux, 1987). Lf is produced by
mucosal epithelial cells in various mammals and recent studies have shown that LF
is also produced by fishes and it is the second most abundant protein in milk (Torres
et al., 2006). Lf has a high iron binding affinity and is the only transferrin which can
retain iron over a wide pH range even extremely acidic pH (Aisen and Leibman.,
1972). Lf has a net positive charge and its distributed in various tissue which make it
a multifunctional protein. It contributes to various functions in the body such as

Three Day Road Analysis
The protagonist of Three Day Road comes in the form of Xavier Bird, a taciturn and
humble young Cree man who finds himself tossed into the chaos of the Great War; a
global phenomenon that turned men into monsters and the land into a place suitable
for no man. Through his devotion to his spirituality, refusal to conform to
wemistikoshiw ways, and steadfast sense of morality, Xavier manages to maintain his
identity throughout the novel. One of Xavier s most notable traits is his devotion to
his spirituality. Whereas many men lose faith in their god(s) while fighting the war,
Xavier remains fiercely loyal to his Indian Religion , as is specifically noted shortly
after the death of Sean Patrick. Whereas Graves and Fat perform Christian acts over...

Throughout the novel, he repeatedly refuses to conform to the ways of the
wemistikoshiw. While Xavier and Elijah both face prejudice due to their Native
ethnicities, the two respond to it in completely contrasting ways. Whereas Elijah
conforms and abandons his Native customs in order to fit in and gain a place
amongst the other soldiers, Xavier firmly sticks to his Indian religion and remains
unaffected by the pressures put on him by his wemistikoshiw comrades. He
refuses to speak English, noting how their tongue is better for lies (Boyden, 51),
wears his moccasins more than his army boots, remains loyal to his religious
/spiritual beliefs, and expresses general disinterest and criticism in regards to their
ways. He notes how he finds their medicine odd and refuses to try morphine until it
is forced upon him, how he thinks their gods are entities of violence, etc... The
divide between the wemistikoshiw and Natives is further emphasized during the
scene in which Elijah knocks over a swallow s nest and kills the three chicks. The
Cree have a great respect for nature and animals, so when Xavier is ordered by
Breech to sweep out the nest, he predictably refuses. Elijah, on the other hand,
grows frustrated by Xavier s refusal, telling him to do it and that it s just a bird
(Boyden, 258). By knocking down the nest himself, Elijah reveals that he identifies
more with the wemistikoshiw than Cree. In his refusal to carry out orders and knock
the nest down, Xavier s devotion to his Native identity and rejection of
wemistikoshiw culture is further

it was from the salivary glands. I was then pushed back by the tongue, went through

argument because of personal experience. Before Facebook there was a social media

was free to type whatever I wanted. Well I got reported and my account got

Why Do People Migrate West
Why did people migrate west especially to Oregon?
Can you imagine how hard and dangerous it would be to take your family and
move to an unknown territory, where only a handful of people have visited? Why
would people even go to this new land? Well people had different motivations for
traveling west, but the common cause was simple. Travelling west was an
opportunity for people to start new lives. The chance for a fresh start, a better life,
and the chance to make your own fortune motivated hundreds of thousands.
Exploring a new territory and expanding our new nation took courage, curiosity and
the opportunity to make a fortune. The idea of spreading our country from coast to

Americans were just business encounters. The emigrants offered clothes tobacco
or rifles and the Natives offered food and horses. Some violent encounters between
these two groups of people were the Bear River Massacre and the Grattan

Ronald Takaki a Different Mirr
American identity has been created by many events throughout the course of history.
This country was founded on the clashing and mixing of many different cultures and
lifestyles. One of the most important periods of time for this country was during the
period of conflict between Americans and Native Americans over land rights.
Americans had an idea of manifest destiny and that this land was theirs for the taking.
The Americans were going to walk through anyone who opposed them in this quest
for land. The treatment of the Indians during this time period was harsh, cruel, and
violent to say the least. It is in this treatment that Americans came to view the Indians

They proceeded to kill thousands and thousands of Indians in the result of
progress. Indians had become a racial minority on lands they had occupied for
thousands of years (Takaki, 104). The thinking of early Americans lead to the
culture that we have today which is purely based on race. The early Americans
created an identity for the Indians, they were thought as a racialized other. They
were seen as being uncivilized and a weaker people. This created an us versus
them appeal to the situation. The English could not come over here and live
together with the Indians. The Indians were a group that was unholy and beneath
them. They had to progress their culture and their beliefs and mark out that of their
opponents. Americans sought to cleanse the land of these savage beasts and
further their own society. Their view of the Indians as a racialized other is what
dominates our society today. Today were are still impaled by the thinking of men
centuries ago that there is a us versus them culture. Race still in this country is still
the top factor in life. Riots and violence are fought over racial issues. The thinking
that people in this land should be divided by color and class is based on what
happened with the Indians. The actions taken in dealing with the Indians is what lead
to the development of our culture
Database Management System For A Company
A research database management system (RDBMS) is the most used database
management system for a company. Its roots date back to 1970, created by E.F.
Codd at IBM. The database approach involves the storage of data involving tables.
Attributes of the tables involve rows, used as a record of an entity. Columns, also
attributes of the table, determine what will be recorded for that field. Within a
table one primary key will be found, this represents a unique column of the table. A
table may also have a foreign key, there can be more than one, and it identifies a
primary key of another table. Foreign keys allow for relationships between tables to
be created.
The RDBMS is so widely used because of its simplicity to understand relationships
between data. The data can also be analyzed in many ways using queries, reports, etc.
A database management system covers all functions of the business and is essential
for businesses to be run efficiently. Since the introduction of this time of database
management system in 1970 it has triumphed many former types of widely used
databases and fended off new types of databases to remain the most common type.
Times have changed in the information technology world since 1970 when IBM was
running the show and leading the world with improving and introducing new
technology. I believe the top five most used RDBMS used in the market today are
Oracle, Microsoft SQL server, IBM DB2, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Oracle database

Material Properties Of Steel Iron
Material Properties of Steel
Steel is an alloy of iron, with carbon being the primary solute in the solid solution. It
is a polycrystalline solid with grain diameter from 10 to 20 micro meter (Ashby et
al). The presence of impurity like carbon causes the crystal lattice distortions to
increase, hence making giving steel better hardness, yield strength, and tensile
strength, at the cost of ductility. Pure iron being very ductile but comparatively weak,
steel is widely because of its greater load bearing capacity. Other impurities are also
introduced into steel to produce different properties. Materials like chromium,
vanadium, titanium, boron etc. are added to steel to give it better corrosion
resistance, hardness, tensile strength and better fatigue response (Smith et al).
Elements like carbon and nitrogen form take up interstitial spaces between the iron
atoms owing to their reduced atomic size (Smith et al). Elements with larger atoms
like nickel, chromium, aluminium, sulphur, phosphorus etc. act as substitutional
elements (Smith et al). Although, the inclusion of various alloying elements do alter
the material property and the crystalline structure, material property of basic steel can
be understood by analyzing various phases of iron and carbon solid solution.
Considering the structural differences in steel it can be differentiated into austentic,
ferretic and martensitic.
As excessive presence of carbon in steel can render steel extremely brittle and hard,

Critical Analysis Of Get Up Stand Up By Bob Marley
Bob Marley was born February 6, 1945 in St Ann Parish, Jamaica. Throughout his
early years Marley had lived in some of the poorest and impoverished areas in
Jamaica. Even in poverty Marley found an escape and had a passion for music. In
Jamaica Bob Marley was a supporter of the People s National Party. His major
influence on the people was an extreme threat to the power of the PNP s rival
parties. December 3, 1976 there was an assassination attempt on Marley. This
assassination attempt allegedly was for political reasons. A few years later Marley
was diagnosed with cancer that had spread and he died in Miami, Florida, on May
11, 1981. The song Get Up Stand Up was the last song Bob Marleyperformed live on
stage. It was performed in September of 1980 less than a year before he died in May
of 1981
The song Get Up Stand Up was released in 1973.The social context of this period
has a major impact on the choice of lyrics in this song. This song became a huge
part of the human rights movement in Jamaica. The lyrics are politically motivated
and wanting change. The song talks about the necessary actions that need to be
taken to avoid the current oppression in Jamaica. One of the more important topics
of the song was the fight for everyone to have their unalienable rights and to say that
they are not just reserved for the upper class. Another point of view was the song
defending the commonly misunderstood Rastafarian religion. The three people that
worked on the song Tosh, Marley, and Wailer were all faithful advocates of the reggae
and Rastafarian movement.
Rastafari is an African religion that is still relatively new. The religion was
developed in the 1930s in Jamaica after Haile Selassie was named the King of
Ethiopia. The followers of this religion believe that Selassie is God and that he
will return all of the black people displaced from slavery and colonization to Africa.
Bob Marley s music and success helped spread the religion. The Rastafarians
believe that black people are the chosen people of God. Some of the religious
practices in the religion include smoking and inhaling marijuana. The purpose of the
marijuana is to increase a person s spiritual state of mind and awareness. Most

Essay about Stem Cell Research
Stem Cell Research

Stem cell research is an ongoing controversial issue. What exactly is stem cell
research? How would this type of research affect people s lives? What are stem
cells? Where do they come from and what are their uses in the human body? What
diseases and medical conditions could be helped if not eventually cured completely?
Scientists are very optimistic regarding stem cell research. Whether or not that
research will be allowed to continue, in an unobstructed, way is still to be decided.
How much do you know about stem cell research? Most people have heard that it
may be the new miracle cure of the century. However, many of these same people

Stem cells can eventually be used to help people with spinal chord injuries, liver
cells to repair a damaged organ, diabetes and neurological diseases such as
Parkinson s and Lou Gehrigs disease. In addition, many types of cancer and birth
defects, which scientists believe are abnormal cells that are out of control, may be
slowed or stopped all together (Stem Cell Research Foundation). Replacing these with
healthy stem cells could have amazing results. The potential benefits are astounding.
Stem cells come from a number of places in the body.
The type of cell that has the best potential to develop
into other tissues, are the stem cells from early embryos. These are usually left
over from infertility treatments, or are created just for research. Other locations of
stem cells are in blood cells from the umbilical chord removed after birth. Still
others come from germ cells or organs of an aborted fetus. Some adult tissues such
as bone marrow seem to be limited in their ability to develop into other types of
tissue(Sir Liam Donaldson, Dept of Health, part 4).
So why is there a problem with stem cell research?
Many people are opposed mainly because of the fact that the stem cells with the most
potential come from human embryos. There is a moral issue that says an embryo is a
human being and that doing any type of research on an embryo is unethical and as
such an
Plato s View Of The Immortal Soul, Diagnosis, And...
Introduction Plato s view of the immortal soul, Diagnosis, and Prescription.
Plato had a dualistic view of the soul and body, meaning that he believed them to be
two separate entities that could exist independently of one another. According to
Plato, the soul exists before birth, it is indestructible, and will exist eternally after
death. Plato believed in what he referred to as a tripartite soul. Plato s tripartite soul
consists of Appetite, Spirit, and Reason. In a just soul, Appetite and Spirit are
controlled by Reason. Plato believed the soul to be more important than the body
because he believed the soul retained knowledge of the forms from before birth,
rather than knowledge being gained through bodily senses. The problem,
according to Plato, is that which part of the soul dominates the others differs from
person to person. In order to have a just soul, reason must be in control and the
three parts should be in harmony with one another. Similarly, the people who are
the most rational thinkers, and therefore the most suited to be rulers, are not
always those who have power in society. In order to have a just society, the most
rational people must have power over spirited and appetitive people. These three
classes of people should be in harmony, just as the three parts of the soul should be
in harmony. Plato s ideal society is a just society. A just society, for Plato, is a
society in which the three classes of people, namely, Rulers, Auxiliaries, and Workers

Baseball And The Civil War Essay
It a quote often attributed to Walt Whitman he said, I see great things in baseball. It s

quote is likely not from Walt Whitman, but regardless it sums up the symbiotic
relationship between the national pastime and the nation itself (LA TIMES).
Throughout, many of America s most difficult moments the sport of baseballhas been
a vehicle of cultural healing. During World War Two, Franklin Delano Roosevelt

The impact each has on each other is profound. First, a brief history of baseball.
The origin of baseball is somewhat disputed. Many believe the story that Abner
Doubleday invented baseball in 1839 in Cooperstown, New York. Abner
Doubleday would later become a Civil War general and hero. However, historians
highly doubt Abner Doubleday had anything to do with the creation of baseball. In
fact, Abner Doubleday spent the year 1839 in West Point, not Cooperstown. He
himself also never claimed any credit for inventing baseball (HIST). Current
historians instead trace back baseball origins to two games that came from
England: rounders and cricket. Both were ball and stick games that were popular
with Americans in industrialized cities. The sports eventually morphed into a
more modern form of baseball. In September 1845, the New York Knickerbocker
Baseball Club was founded by a group of men. One team member, Alexander Joy
Cartwright, wrote down the rules that would form as the charter for modern
baseball. These rules included foul lines, three strikes and you re out, and foul lines.
Unlike rounders, baseball players would be tagged out instead of having balls
thrown at runners. Eventually, in 1846 the first modern baseball game was played
between a group of cricket players and the Knickerbockers
Rebel Without A Cause And Ferris Bueller s Day Off
Teens are rebellious troublemakers. It s just something that s in their blood. Each

age and going through this phase. Rebel Without A Cause , American Graffiti ,

Rebel Without A Cause is set in 1955. Jim Stark has gotten into trouble in all the
towns his family has lived in before. They had to move and he s once again the

How To Raise Pit Bulls
Taking care of a pet takes time, training, feeding, bathing, and the list continues.
When caring for a pit bull, many believe that it would be more difficult to maintain
them, over any other dogs. They may also be scared to raise a pit bull because of
how big and mean they seem. What others don t know is pit bulls are some of the
easiest, loving dogs to have. When given an appropriate amount of time, love and
compassion, Pit Bulls can be a joy for you and the family to raise.
Pit bull puppies are similar to other puppies when it comes to training. Pit bull pups
need to be trained at about eight weeks old. Being trained at a young age allows them
to obtain the training better and they are more likely going to follow through with the

The Battle Of The Second Triumvirate
The Battle of Philippi was the last fought battle of the wars of the second
Triumvirate. These wars were a fight between the forces of Marc Antony and
Octavian of the Second Triumvirate, and the forces of Marcus Junius Brutus and
Gaius Cassius Longinus. Brutus and Cassius were the assassinators of Julius Caesar,
Marc Antony and Octavian were very close allies with Julius Caesarand Octavian
would become the heir to his throne after the assassination. Because of this, Marc
Antony and Octavian would wage a war against Brutus and Cassius to avenge their
ally Julius Caesar. Immediately following the assassination of Caesar, Brutus and
Cassius fled to Italy to take control of the Eastern provinces. The three main

With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus,
communications back to Italy were made very difficult because of the large fleet of
ships that he brought with him which blockaded the triumvirate. These fleets of the
Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the Triumvirate, but only
to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this
swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own
defensive positions forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving
west giving the Liberators the upper hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able
to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with this fleet. To the north and south
were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then split their forces
each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving
to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops
to the north, preparing for battle with the Liberators. Marcus Junius Brutus was
always known in history as being too soft of a general. Although he had little
successful battle victories in Thrace and Lycia, he had always been judged as being
lacking in authority when it came to the generalship of his troops. Because of this,
Brutus was commonly referred to as a statesman than a military commander. The
other Liberator commander, Gaius
Nickel And Dimed Chapter Summaries
In chapter one of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, there was a footnote
that surprised me. On page 37 she explained that up until 1998, employers were not
required to give their employees restroom breaks. A factory worker, not allowed a
break for six hour stretches, voided into pads work inside her uniform. (37) I
thought that seemed wrong and even inhumane, especially when bathroom breaks
were only required by law since 1998, which wasn t that long ago. How extensive
were places where employees were not allowed to used the restroom, was it
common in low paying, labor intensive jobs? Ehrenreich gave another example, of
a schoolteacher who wasn t allowed to used the restroom unless she braught all the
kids she was teaching with her, so this rule must have spread beyond jobs people
with little education could land. What other rights did workers in low wage jobs
not have up until recently, or do not have? One right workers don t necessarily
have today is access to breaks other than bathroom breaks. There is no federal law
requiring breaks, so in most states, employees can be worked without a lunch break
for their entire shift. It is also legal for employees to be... Show more content on

Someone had stolen goods from the freezer, and George was blamed for it. I was
concerned about the way George was treated after the incident; he was being
blamed and accused for something he probably didn t do. He began to appear
worse off. But in the last couple shifts he s been listless and unshaven, and tonight
he looks like the ghost we all know him to be, with dark half moons hanging from
his eyes. (46) This reflects another right workers don t have, which is the right to not
have to deal with workplace harassment. With the exception of harassment due to
age, race, religion, sex, color, national origin, or disability, bosses can harass their
employees as much as they
The Arguments Against Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana is the most used drug by teens and adults today. There are many strong
arguments against the legalization of marijuana; there are also many valid reasons
to legalize the drug. Although marijuana alters the natural brain functions like:
memory, attentiveness, and coordination, keeping it illegal will not stop people
from using the drug, but it imposes on other issues that need to be solved. With
legalizing marijuana it would give law enforcement motive to focus on real crimes,
the government would make a huge profit by taxing it, and it can also be beneficial
for some medical needs. Marijuana is the most valuable cash crop. By placing a tax
on marijuana will not only help the economy bloom, but it would also help the
government greatly. Keeping marijuana illegal is becoming expensive... Show more

The argument that marijuana is illegal because it is life threatening or causes
health issues is eliminated. Marijuana is a drug just like any other drug we take to
make us feel better. It is prescribed to people for medical means. Marijuana helps
lower the number of seizures a person has in a life span. It is bizarre to not have it
legal when it could potentially be lifesaving. The possession of marijuana, or the
usage of marijuana does not cause any harm to society; therefore, it should not be
considered a crime. Legalizing it keeps the police force busy with real crimes that
occur. With marijuana legal it will allow the law to spend more money on other
issues such as; homicide, robbery and prostitution. Arresting and jailing people for
marijuana is occupying space that could be used for the real
Essay on The Truman Show
The Truman Show is the story of a baby who is bought by a television company at
birth. He becomes the star of the television programme, but he has no idea that his
life is being filmed. All the people in his life, such as his wife, best friend, and
colleagues are actors. There are no set scripts. There are three different worlds
shown in the film: Truman s world, the producer s world, and the real world when we
see the viewers watching the programme in the homes.
The film starts when Truman is twenty nine. We see him begin to become suspicious,
by odd occurrences, such as a light falling from the sky, the way his friends and

With the introduction to reality TV programmes such as Big Brother and Survivor,
The Truman show gives us an idea of how these programmes can maybe affect
people as they did Truman. Also, Peter Weir might have been showing us how far
television companies will go in the not so distant future to increase audience share.
It shows how important making money is in the modern world in the way that a
person s life is being exploited all for a television programme to be successful.
Subtly, I think that he was showing us how people nowadays are controlled by the
Government and in different institutions without really realising it, as Truman didn t
realise how much his life was controlled.
The invasion of privacy could also be something Peter Weir tried to show us. There
are so many CCTV cameras everywhere nowadays, it s almost as if we can t do
much without being caught on camera. We don t really notice or think about it
though, except if we were planning a bank robbery, so it is almost as we don t
realise they re there. The director could ve been showing us that humans aren t all
that clever, and they can easily be controlled. I think Truman is seen as a very
vulnerable character, almost like a child. The director could be making connections
between adults and children; he could be trying to show the message that adults aren
t superior, because
A Best Friend For Ten Years Of Life
Most people are lucky enough to have a best friend. For boys, there may be more
than one, and for girls there may only be one. For me, I ve had three great friends in
my twenty years and multiple acquaintances that were more of a lesson than a
blessing. Out of those three friends, there has only been one that has been consistent.
Whether we re fighting or not, Savannah has been my best friend for ten years now.
It all started back in fifth grade. I was a new to the girl world. My first ten years of
life were filled with tomboy activities and being the only girl at the birthday parties.
Fifth grade changed everything for me. The boys were more interested in the girls
and I was being left out more on the playground. It was softball that ... Show more

Tension built between us and I soon found myself growing closer to someone else
in the tenth grade. One of the three I mention in the beginning. Her name is
Danielle. She was also a part of a duo, but her partner was her twin named Hannah.
The three of us became close, but Danielle and I more than Hannah. Her humor was
like nothing I had encountered before and she kept me laughing most the time. At
the end of tenth grade, Hannah and Danielle found out they were going to have to
move to Florence and we were all heartbroken. Everyone loved the twins, they
brought a light to that dreary time of high school. They joy and humor were
contagious and when they moved there was an obvious hole left. During this time
Savannah was still heavily involved with her new friends, but clearly jealous of my
new friendship as well.
The real heartache didn t happen until that summer. Although Florence was not too
far away, it was still hard to keep a friendship going while living two completely
different lives. That summer, Hannah and Danielle were suddenly moved to Kansas
City. I remember crying my eyes out as Danielle text me the news that they were on
their way to a different state. I m not going to lie; it broke me in a way
I had never experienced before. The news of the twins move spread quickly on social
media. The next day I had softball practice. I remember walking into the dugout and
everything going silent. My teammates knew of my connection to the
Guitar Recital Performance
In the Guitar Recital performed by Western Illinois University jazz band members, I
felt it was another great performance. Understanding the last concert was amazing, I
was confident that this show would not disappoint. H was located in COFAC recital
hall around the time of 7:30pm. From the start of the show it was tremendous. I felt
that the performers gave the audience a good bright sound of how jazzguitar is
played. There were multiple musical piece performed that were good selections by
the band. One of the songs that was very well displayed was Christmas Time is Here
. With this song came a well performed solo from pianist Matt Goodwin. He did a
fine job appealing to the crowd s holiday spirit, seeing that the holiday season
The Role of Trust in Internet Privacy Essay examples
The Role of Trust in Internet Privacy
One of the most important advances in the rapidly developing world of electronic
commerce is the ability of companies to develop personalized relationships with their
customers. Personalization empowers companies to better understand their customers
wants and desires and improve customer service by tailoring offerings to the unique
needs of individuals . At the same time, this has become a subject of hot controversy
because the technology involves the extensive collection and use of personal data.

However, although concern about privacy and security has long been the biggest
issue with online shoppers #61630;particularly with the sanctity of their
identification related information #61630;a majority do not mind their behavior
being watched if it allows their shopping experience to be customized. According to
the 1999 Personalized Marketing and Privacy on the Net: What Consumers Want
survey conducted by the non profit research firm Privacy and American Business, 61
percent of the 474 Internet users surveyed said that they would be positive toward
receiving banner ads tailored to their personal interests rather than receiving random
ads. This represents about 56 million adult users interested in such personalization. In
addition, 68 percent of the users also said that they would provide personal
information in order to receive tailored banner ads, on the condition that notice and
opt out are provided .
The study seems to back the e commerce firms who are watching online behavior to
provide customized shopping experiences, and not privacy advocates who say that
this practice is an invasion of privacy. It is the purpose for gathering the information,
it would seem, that is the key to drawing the line between acceptable personalization
and invasion of privacy.
This is why it is important to many shoppers that a site have a privacy policy that
explains what information is gathered and how it is being used, before they
relinquish their information.

Theme Of Caretaker By Harold Pinter
A prolific writer of his time Harold Pinter was amongst the most prominent literary
figures of the British playwrights in 1950s and 1960s. Play, The Caretaker brought
him immense popularity. Which he wrote in 1959. It involves conflicts among the
characters as well as depict the struggle for verbal and territorial dominance. His play
was heightened due to use of the pauses and silences. Which portrays the absurdity of
language and human identity in his work due to the societal oppression.
The play The Caretaker represents the human misery and exertion that troubled
people in the mid 20th century after the World War II. Pinter has deftly depicted the
hostile conditions that crippled the human society in the modern period. His play

Agile Methodologies And Rapid Application Development
Essay
Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development: A Comparison
Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development look to improve the SDLC by
using a framework and requirements to complete projects. The paths that both AM
and RAD take to get to the finish line can differ immensely, which can ultimately lead
to varying results.
Agile Methodologies
Matharu, Mishra, Singh, Upadhyay (2015, p. 1) state that, agile methods are
characterized by shorter development cycles, higher customer interaction, incremental
delivery, frequent redesign with accommodation of changes necessitated by dynamic
user requirements. The Agarwal et al. text explores three of the most popular agile
methods, Scrum, Extreme Programming (EP), and Kanban. All of these agile
methods follow The Agile Manifesto (Beck, et al., 2001).
Scrum. Scrum manages the full SDLC in short iterations called sprints. Each sprint is
a smaller, full, SDLC. There are three very important roles within a scrum process, the
scrum master, development team, and product owner. Collaboration is at the center
of this methodology. Scrum attempts to utilize unique skills within the team to their
maximum ability. Daily meetings are called to review the status of the project and
assign resources where they are needed. A product and sprint backlog are maintained
to provide insight on tasks, steps, and requirements to complete and meet for the
ongoing project. Through a series of sprints, the backlogs are completed in an
Examples Of The Outsiders In The Outsiders
The Outsiders In the Novel, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton the teenagers are
categorized into two groups and classify themselves as either the Greasers. or the
Socials. The Greasers all grew up relying on only each other to survive because
their parents weren t in the picture very much if at all, so their loyalty was
extremely important. As for the Socials, they always believed they were better
than the Greasers due to their wealth class, and because of society constantly
assuming if you had better clothes than another person or lived in a better
neighborhood that automatically made you better. Therefor, creating a rivalry
between the two groups constantly putting each other in danger with the Greasers
loyalty and the Social s egos built so high from society. The Outsiders, was an
example that not all kids have people like parents, to guide them away from trouble
and teach them how to get through hardships, so sometimes kids who end up in
bad situations like the Greasers, make friends with kids in the same situations and
become like family to each other. Their loyalty to each other is very important
because each other is all they have and they d do anything to protect each other.

Court Subject Matter Jurisdiction
The Federal district courts handle only a certain type of case in their courts. These
court cases has to have subject matter jurisdiction, and that s when the issue at hand
arises under the Federal law, or if either of the parties share a state of citizenship and
the amount involved in the case exceeds 75,000. https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex

When it comes to the Federal district the U.S. Constitution allows them jurisdiction to
handle certain cases that have to do with such cases that involves ambassadors, public
ministers, or for example a case that would involve the United States as a party. But,
sometimes subject matter jurisdiction can be created by statute, which would mean

Federal district courts will hear cases that involves any rights or obligations that have
arise from the Constitution or other federal law. Federal courts also play apart in
diversity jurisdiction; this gives the courts the authority to hear cases involving
disputes among individuals that are from different states. This jurisdiction however is
limited in because it depends on the amount in that is in dispute in the case, It has to
be more than $10,000, because if not the federal question and diversity jurisdiction
will not apply which means the cases will have to be brought before the state court.

On the other hand there is the subject matter jurisdiction of state courts; this means
State trial courts have subject matter jurisdiction over all cases except the ones that
have to be heard exclusively in another court. For example if someone files a tort
case against another party in a state trial court. This case is not covered under any
law that will give one court exclusive jurisdiction over another to hear this case. This
would be a reason that the state trial court would have subject matter jurisdiction over
a case. Cited from

The comic strip assumes that the certain culture acts or behavior a certain way. Merriam Webster states: to believe unfairly that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same. People s perceptions are influenced by their expectations. People have viewed about certain people are usually learned their ancestor. Being able to decide quickly, which group a person belonged to may have had survival value, since this enabled people to distinguish between friends and enemies. People also base their opinions on past experience. This then allows people to quickly process new information about an event or person. Certain

  • 4. Music of Robert Schumann as a New Stage in the Development... Music of Robert Schumann as a New Stage in the Development of Romanticism Music of Robert Schumann embodies many of the most characteristic features of German Romanticism deep psychological insight, aspiration for the ideal, intimacy, irony and bitterness. Advanced aesthetic tendencies of German culture in the period of 1820 40s found vivid expression in his music. In contradictions, which are inherent in Schumann s music, reflected the complex contradictions of the social life from his time. His music is filled with a restless, rebellious spirit that puts him in the same line with Byron, Heine, Goethe, Wagner and others. However, the theme of rebellion in the music of Schumann has a psychological, but very lyrical representation. Compared to Heinrich Heine, Victor Hugo, and Ludwig Van Beethoven who viewed the world through the prism of social injustice, Schumann did not aim towards social revolt. The greatest part of his diverse heritage was his personal confession in music. Schumann s piano music, for instance, Kreisleriana, Op.16 and the Symphonic Etudes, op.13, are truly a musical encyclopedia of the human soul with many nuances and tones, with shades of colors of joy, sorrow, anguish, doubt and struggle, dreams and anxieties, rush, despair, faith and courage. E.T.A. Hoffmann in his writing Dichtungen und Schriften defined genius as a person who is able to touch us, to move us mightily, the artist himself must be deeply affected in his own heart. Effective

  • 6. Effect Of Potential Energy On Roller Coasters I.Science Fair Question How does height (rise) and the loop radius influence the conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy using a model roller coaster track? II.Background Research Did you ever wonder how a roller coaster works? Why does one roller coaster go faster than another at certain points on the ride? This paper will discuss how potential energy turns into kinetic energy at different points along the track of a roller coaster. The important terms that will be discussed are potential energy (stored energy), kinetic energy (energy of motion), gravitational potential energy (GPE), and conservation of energy (basic law of physics). Conservation of energy stays the same, the value doesn t change. Some types of energy include kinetic, potential, gravitational potential, and heat. They can change into different systems, but the value won t change as long as it has conservation of energy. Conservation of energy itself and conservation of mechanical energy are two types of energy. Conservation of mechanical energy is easier to understand and calculate, but it only happens when everything is conserved (What is Conservation of

Senge, Sholtes and Covey, internationally renowned authors, provide a wealth of knowledge which empowers individuals to effect life changing decisions through the planning, doing, studying and acting (PDSA) upon these concepts. I explained to my wife Susan the new concept of listening I had recently learned via Covey and her response was so you re learning to become an empath , and began to recite a list of known empaths. I smiled and thought to myself, If you were aware of this concept, why haven t you been using it. During interactions with my daughter, I have had the joy of watching much different reactions and responses as I implement empathic listening. Her responses are less defensive as she feels less the need to defend her position and more open to engage in dialog versus discussion. I have tested empathic listening with my wife Susan, and watched her responses become more amiable as she doesn t feel challenged as we engage vocally. Conversations in general seem to go smoother as dialog replaces defensive conversation. I also noticed while attempting to engage in emphatic listening/dialog with one of my older children, in which she repeatedly attempted to change the conversation from dialog to defensive discussion. I had the fun of explain to her that this was dialog not discussion , giving her the definition of both terms and explained that neither of us needed to defend our position, just talk about it. Per the PDSA cycle, I will act by continually working to improve my listening skills and seek opportunities to teach others the importance of emphatic listening and the benefits it brings to relationships. This can happen when someone that has the active form of tuberculosisin the lungs which has not been treated coughs, speaks, sneezes, spits, laughs, or sings. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... TB can lead to spinal pain and joint destruction, meningitis, impair the liver and kidney s waste filtration functions, cause blood in the urine, and can impair the heart s ability to pump blood. M. tuberculosis enters the respiratory tract where it travels to the lungs deep into the alveoli and is engulfed by macrophages. One of the major features of M. tuberculosis is its capacity to block the acidification of the phagosome and consequently to disable phagosome lysosome fusion in phagocytic cells. After time, the tubercles can change to a cheese like consistency called caseous lesions. When caseous lesions calcify they are called Ghon complexes which show up on X ray s. Tubercles can sometimes liquefy and form air filled tuberculosis cavities which allows the bacteria to spread. This spreading of the bacteria can affect many parts of body like the bladder, bones, brain, joints, kidneys, lymph nodes, spine, and reproductive organs. Cell mediated immunity then develops and alerts T cells. There are two kinds of tests that are used to conclude if a person has been infected with TB bacteria. These tests are the tuberculin skin test (Mantoux test) and TB blood tests. A positive TB skin test or TB blood test only tells that a person has been infected with TB bacteria.

A study on the effect of iron sulphate concentration on the growth of Triticum aestivum, as measured by shoot length Background: For the plants development to carry out general processes, an example being photosynthesis, required for life. There are different roles which can be changed, altered, removed or added that can affect the plant, an example being an increase temperature, CO2. Iron is a micronutrient like iron, used by plants for plant growth, it s role a key factor in enzyme present and able to carry out the the processes and needed for the formation of chlorophyll. A reason as to why iron plays a key part in the plants development, is due to the fact that the fundamental components of protein found in the enzyme that controls a large sum of chemical reactions which happens in a plant. A study carried out showed that iron aided in seed production needed for activity in enzymes, however in the correct dosages. A excess of iron can inhibit plant growth, also hindering photosynthetic electron transport. An excess can also cause iron poisoning which causes the plants to change in colour from green to yellow and the growth of the plant to be stunted. Increased levels of iron can similarly cause a huge drop in plant s seed germination and iron intake The plant experimented on, was wheat which is one of the world s most used products in creating carbohydrate foods i.e. cereal. The discerning factor of wheat is that it carries more use in comparison to rice or maize

  • 12. Bar Codes How Much Do Your Mistakes Cost? Brittney Roper, R.N. Southwestern Oklahoma State University Introduction Proper patient identification in hospitals has been an issue for many years, especially when it comes to blood specimen collection. Laboratory specimens being mislabeled are a everyday cause of harm to patients including repeat diagnostic procedures; repeat phlebotomy; delays in necessary surgical procedures; a performing unnecessary surgical procedures (Dunn and Moga, 2010). This is not only costly, but it is very stressing to patients and medical staff. The biggest concern is the possibility of making a fatal error when it comes to specimen collection. Without proper patient identification this risk increases substantially. Wallin, Sodberg, Van Guelpen, Stenlund, Grankvist, and Brulin (2009) state that critical errors in patient identification for blood testing occurs in up to one per 1000 specimens or procedures and misidentified specimens cause 160,000 adverse events every year in America. Bar coding has been introduced into many hospitals in the last several years. Using bar codes on patients ID bracelets and labels for specimens has been the normal practice for Saint Francis Hospital for some time. However, the labels aren t used as well as they should be to prevent errors in patient care. According to Wickham, Miedema, Gamerdinger, and DeGooyer (2006), implementing the use of bar codes for patient identification will prevent

  • 14. Self Reflection On My Writing And Learning Process Essay Self reflection on my Writing and Learning Process I think self reflection, or a careful cogitation of one s personal work, is very important. It will help me think about my strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills and learning process, so that I can improve my weaknesses in the future and become a better writer. I believe, I have many strengths and many weaknesses that can be seen transparently through my drafts, revisions, and final essays, or writings, this semester. My overall strength includes the ability to pick out good examples from articles and the ability to construct good development of my body paragraphs after my revisions. On the other hand, my overall weakness includes having some unclear explanation of thoughts, unclear topic sentences, confusing thesis statements, having undefined terms, difficulties transitioning from one idea to another. I have learned that to have a good essay, I must revise my papers more than once because there are always flaws that can be fixed or improved. My writing process has evolved from having difficulties writing down or explaining my thought process to being able to explain and clarify examples to help support my thesis statement. I am good at picking quotes that will support my argument. This skill can be seen through multiple drafts that I have written. For instance, in assignment 1, draft 1, I claimed that Richard Rodriguez is rude when describing his opponents. For my quotes, I pulled negative words that Rodriguez used

United Airlines and Trans World Airlines followed them after in 1971, with the Apollo Reservation System and Programmed Airline Reservation System (PARS). The problem following these systems being developed is that travel agents begun to push for a system that would automate their side of the process. Fearing this would place too much power in the agent s hand. American Airlines executive Robert Crandall proposed creating and industry wide computer reservation system to be a central clearing house for U.S Travel. In 1976, United began to offer their system APOLLO to travel agents so it wouldn t let them book tickets to United s competitors. After this, other companies started following suit and release their systems to travel agents. Some of these inventions include hot air balloons, Long Range Weapons, Warships, torpedoes, and the Gatling Gun. But three inventions from the Civil War that we still use today are railroads, telegraphs, and Long Range Weapons. Today, though all these have been improved upon, these inventions are still used to help our country grow. Railroads are a form of transportation which isn t used as much anymore, but in the Civil War, it was a very important way of transportation. The transcontinental railroad was invented around the Civil War and was a faster way to transport goods, troops, and people. The Civil War was also the first war in US history to use railroads because they were important in moving troops and goods faster. The Civil War was the first war to use railroads, encouraged by President Lincoln himself a former railroad lawyer who understood how vital they were for moving men and supplies (http://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/feature/civil war innovations/). Water Purification Lab Abstract: The main objective of this lab was to determine how to effectively measure and compare bacteria in different water sources, specifically in this lab by using Coleman Drinking Water Purification Tablets. The tablets did not eliminate bacteria to the level found in tap water, however they were still very effective at eliminating bacteria. The tablets as a result can be trusted by the user to remove any unnecessary health risk when drinking water from an untreated source. The lab procedure start by taking a river water sample from the Menomonee River, which was then separated into three 1L beakers which were then filled to the range of .95L to 1L. The water samples as is, were then swabbed for bacteria, and rubbed across a Tryptic Soy Agar plate (TSA), to facilitate growth of bacteria if any was present in the water. The water was then treated with the drinking water tablets per their instructions, and was then swabbed again for bacteria after the 35 minute mark. This second swab was then also streaked across a TSA plate in order to check if there was any bacteria still present in the water. The previous methods were also performed concurrently with three identical amounts of water from the city of Milwaukee tap water. This was done to account for any bacteria that could have entered the water from the air, due to the open air beakers. The bacteria, if present on the TSA plates, were then allowed to grow over several days, and the resulting bacteria colonies were then counted, and purification levels were compared between the drinking water tablets and the treated city

In this paper I will be reviewing the relationship between war, territory, and arms races on a dyadic level of analysis. Scholars have come to various conclusions on different aspects of these two theories and I will discuss and evaluate a few different perspectives or angles of each theory to see how they help contribute to the creation of warbetween two interstates. When examining the relationship between territoriality and war one might find several different approaches to the connection between the two aspects. Territoryand war have long been related between interstate wars for a long period of time. As you take a look at past wars and how territory has played a major role in the escalation of conflict you will find several different angles to the situations. One angle that has shown vital data to relationship would be territorial contiguity between interstates. When territory are contiguous to one another from past history it shows the interstates are more likely to have disputes with one another. You could also breakdown the terms of contiguity into proximity, interaction, and territoriality to get an in depth view of a matter. In Contiguity and Military Escalation in Major Power Rivalries the article discussed the effect that contiguity has on nations decisions, particularly rivalry nations, of escalating a conflict into war. The Manifesto is one of the most influential political writings throughout the world. The Communist Manifesto put forward a unique view on the relevance and significance of history which relied more heavily on economical distinctions than revolutionary progress. It also proposed a process, by which the working proletariat class would overthrow the ruling bourgeoisie class and create a classless society in which private property would be abolished. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the overthrow of the bourgeoisie the communists goal is to create a classless society in which private property will be abolished in favor of a state controlled common labor system. While this ideally would be a solution to the immoralities of bourgeois society, it places a great deal of trust in the hands of the few, who in theory could be just as immoral and exploitative as the old bourgeois society. However, in capitalism, Marx argues, the worker only labors for the advancement of the bourgeoisie, but in a communist society his work serves only to better the society as a whole, and therefore his own life as well. The bourgeoisie will object to the abolishment of things such as religion, laws, political science, and morality, that have all stood up to the test of time, saying that these are eternal truths that are common to all history. However Marx replies that the Communist revolution is the most radical rupture with traditional property relations; no wonder that its development involves the most radical rupture with traditional ideals (52) This chapter also lays out ten key principles to the communist ideology. These include the abolition of private property and inheritance, a large income tax, centralization of the economy and transportation in the hands of the state, the establishment of a common labor system, and free public education for
  • 26. The Effect Of Lactoferrin And Its Effects On The Human Body INTRODUCTION Lactoferrin (Lf) is a member of a 300 500 million years old transferrin family (Teng, 2002). It is a single chain protein of approximately 690 amino acids and a molecular weight of 77kDa (Nuijens et al., 1996). Lactoferrin (also known as lactotransferrin) was first identified in 1939 as a red protein that was present in bovine milk (Sorensen and Sorensen 1939). Lf is a whey protein found in the milk and other biological fluids (including tears, pancreatic juice, mucous, saliva, bile, genital and nasal secretions and in circulating neutrophils) and other tissues of mammals (Bellamy et al., 1992). Other members of the transferrin families are serum transferrin, ovotransferrin, melanotransferrin, and the inhibitor for carbonic anhydrase Transferrins are iron binding blood plasma glycoproteins and their function is to control the level of free iron in biological fluids such as the ones mentioned above (Crichton and Charloteaux, 1987). Lf is produced by mucosal epithelial cells in various mammals and recent studies have shown that LF is also produced by fishes and it is the second most abundant protein in milk (Torres et al., 2006). Lf has a high iron binding affinity and is the only transferrin which can retain iron over a wide pH range even extremely acidic pH (Aisen and Leibman., 1972). Lf has a net positive charge and its distributed in various tissue which make it a multifunctional protein. It contributes to various functions in the body such as regulating

Codd at IBM. The database approach involves the storage of data involving tables. Attributes of the tables involve rows, used as a record of an entity. Columns, also attributes of the table, determine what will be recorded for that field. Within a table one primary key will be found, this represents a unique column of the table. A table may also have a foreign key, there can be more than one, and it identifies a primary key of another table. Foreign keys allow for relationships between tables to be created. The RDBMS is so widely used because of its simplicity to understand relationships between data. The data can also be analyzed in many ways using queries, reports, etc. A database management system covers all functions of the business and is essential for businesses to be run efficiently. Since the introduction of this time of database management system in 1970 it has triumphed many former types of widely used databases and fended off new types of databases to remain the most common type. Times have changed in the information technology world since 1970 when IBM was running the show and leading the world with improving and introducing new technology. It is a polycrystalline solid with grain diameter from 10 to 20 micro meter (Ashby et al). The presence of impurity like carbon causes the crystal lattice distortions to increase, hence making giving steel better hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength, at the cost of ductility. Pure iron being very ductile but comparatively weak, steel is widely because of its greater load bearing capacity. Other impurities are also introduced into steel to produce different properties. Materials like chromium, vanadium, titanium, boron etc. are added to steel to give it better corrosion resistance, hardness, tensile strength and better fatigue response (Smith et al). Elements like carbon and nitrogen form take up interstitial spaces between the iron atoms owing to their reduced atomic size (Smith et al). Elements with larger atoms like nickel, chromium, aluminium, sulphur, phosphorus etc. act as substitutional elements (Smith et al). Although, the inclusion of various alloying elements do alter the material property and the crystalline structure, material property of basic steel can be understood by analyzing various phases of iron and carbon solid solution. Considering the structural differences in steel it can be differentiated into austentic, ferretic and martensitic. As excessive presence of carbon in steel can render steel extremely brittle and hard, carbon

In Jamaica Bob Marley was a supporter of the People s National Party. His major influence on the people was an extreme threat to the power of the PNP s rival parties. December 3, 1976 there was an assassination attempt on Marley. This assassination attempt allegedly was for political reasons. A few years later Marley was diagnosed with cancer that had spread and he died in Miami, Florida, on May 11, 1981. The song Get Up Stand Up was the last song Bob Marleyperformed live on stage. It was performed in September of 1980 less than a year before he died in May of 1981 The song Get Up Stand Up was released in 1973.The social context of this period has a major impact on the choice of lyrics in this song. This song became a huge part of the human rights movement in Jamaica. The lyrics are politically motivated and wanting change. The song talks about the necessary actions that need to be taken to avoid the current oppression in Jamaica. One of the more important topics of the song was the fight for everyone to have their unalienable rights and to say that they are not just reserved for the upper class. Another point of view was the song defending the commonly misunderstood Rastafarian religion. The three people that worked on the song Tosh, Marley, and Wailer were all faithful advocates of the reggae and Rastafarian movement. Rastafari is an African religion that is still relatively new. The religion was developed in the 1930s in Jamaica after Haile Selassie was named the King of Ethiopia. The followers of this religion believe that Selassie is God and that he will return all of the black people displaced from slavery and colonization to Africa. Stem cells can eventually be used to help people with spinal chord injuries, liver cells to repair a damaged organ, diabetes and neurological diseases such as Parkinson s and Lou Gehrigs disease. In addition, many types of cancer and birth defects, which scientists believe are abnormal cells that are out of control, may be slowed or stopped all together (Stem Cell Research Foundation). Replacing these with healthy stem cells could have amazing results. The potential benefits are astounding. Stem cells come from a number of places in the body. The type of cell that has the best potential to develop into other tissues, are the stem cells from early embryos. These are usually left over from infertility treatments, or are created just for research. Other locations of stem cells are in blood cells from the umbilical chord removed after birth. Still others come from germ cells or organs of an aborted fetus. Some adult tissues such as bone marrow seem to be limited in their ability to develop into other types of tissue(Sir Liam Donaldson, Dept of Health, part 4). So why is there a problem with stem cell research? Many people are opposed mainly because of the fact that the stem cells with the most potential come from human embryos. There is a moral issue that says an embryo is a human being and that doing any type of research on an embryo is unethical and as such an
  • 37. Plato s View Of The Immortal Soul, Diagnosis, And... Introduction Plato s view of the immortal soul, Diagnosis, and Prescription. Plato had a dualistic view of the soul and body, meaning that he believed them to be two separate entities that could exist independently of one another. According to Plato, the soul exists before birth, it is indestructible, and will exist eternally after death. Plato believed in what he referred to as a tripartite soul. Plato s tripartite soul consists of Appetite, Spirit, and Reason. In a just soul, Appetite and Spirit are controlled by Reason. Plato believed the soul to be more important than the body because he believed the soul retained knowledge of the forms from before birth, rather than knowledge being gained through bodily senses. The problem, according to Plato, is that which part of the soul dominates the others differs from person to person. In order to have a just soul, reason must be in control and the three parts should be in harmony with one another. Similarly, the people who are the most rational thinkers, and therefore the most suited to be rulers, are not always those who have power in society. In order to have a just society, the most rational people must have power over spirited and appetitive people. These three classes of people should be in harmony, just as the three parts of the soul should be in harmony. Plato s ideal society is a just society. A just society, for Plato, is a society in which the three classes of people, namely, Rulers, Auxiliaries, and Workers are

The origin of baseball is somewhat disputed. Many believe the story that Abner Doubleday invented baseball in 1839 in Cooperstown, New York. Abner Doubleday would later become a Civil War general and hero. However, historians highly doubt Abner Doubleday had anything to do with the creation of baseball. In fact, Abner Doubleday spent the year 1839 in West Point, not Cooperstown. He himself also never claimed any credit for inventing baseball (HIST). Current historians instead trace back baseball origins to two games that came from England: rounders and cricket. Both were ball and stick games that were popular with Americans in industrialized cities. The sports eventually morphed into a more modern form of baseball. In September 1845, the New York Knickerbocker Baseball Club was founded by a group of men. One team member, Alexander Joy Cartwright, wrote down the rules that would form as the charter for modern baseball. These rules included foul lines, three strikes and you re out, and foul lines. Unlike rounders, baseball players would be tagged out instead of having balls thrown at runners. Eventually, in 1846 the first modern baseball game was played between a group of cricket players and the Knickerbockers

With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus, communications back to Italy were made very difficult because of the large fleet of ships that he brought with him which blockaded the triumvirate. These fleets of the Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the Triumvirate, but only to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own defensive positions forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving west giving the Liberators the upper hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with this fleet. To the north and south were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then split their forces each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops to the north, preparing for battle with the Liberators. On page 37 she explained that up until 1998, employers were not required to give their employees restroom breaks. A factory worker, not allowed a break for six hour stretches, voided into pads work inside her uniform. (37) I thought that seemed wrong and even inhumane, especially when bathroom breaks were only required by law since 1998, which wasn t that long ago. How extensive were places where employees were not allowed to used the restroom, was it common in low paying, labor intensive jobs? Ehrenreich gave another example, of a schoolteacher who wasn t allowed to used the restroom unless she braught all the kids she was teaching with her, so this rule must have spread beyond jobs people with little education could land. What other rights did workers in low wage jobs not have up until recently, or do not have? One right workers don t necessarily have today is access to breaks other than bathroom breaks. It shows how important making money is in the modern world in the way that a person s life is being exploited all for a television programme to be successful. Subtly, I think that he was showing us how people nowadays are controlled by the Government and in different institutions without really realising it, as Truman didn t realise how much his life was controlled. The invasion of privacy could also be something Peter Weir tried to show us. There are so many CCTV cameras everywhere nowadays, it s almost as if we can t do much without being caught on camera.
