Dogs Are Dogs And Cats
To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs
more; some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of
those main points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom,
and how big they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets.
The word dog still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in
German named docga . The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically
has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have
always been a very good human companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands
of years now. The origin of the word catcomes from old English and Middle English as catte . The
word cat means a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and
retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how
they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box that s kept indoors. The litter box is
required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when
left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to let them out for the
bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is
well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go

Serial Killer Research Paper
Serial killers are probably one of the most horrified subjects ever. I mean could you imagine
being killed? By a person who sees you ve done something so wrong to them and you may not
even know their name? Maybe they re just crazy and you re their innocent victim, or maybe it s all
a part of revenge. The thoughts running through the killer and victims heads, are unrevealed. The
gruesome facts, are stomach turning. The way the killers or survivors describe what happened,
would make you very paranoid. Don t say it wouldn t ever happen in your home town. Because it
has, it has happened right here in Arkansas. Lavinia Burnett, first woman to be executed in the state

What Is the Importance of Accountability in the Military...
What is the importance of accountability in the military and in the work place? What is
accountability by definition: (Department Of Defense) The obligation imposed by law or lawful
order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents,
or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property,
documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is
concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping. Accountability is very important because
it allows for your chain of command to know where you are at at the moment. Accountability in the

Anything can and will happen especially in combat, that s why the team member should make
sure that the team or squad leader know where the soldier and his or her equipment is at all
times. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and belongings for the soldiers, so the
Army expects to know where its equipment is. No matter what someone is always responsible
for equipment in the Army. Accountability is important because it assures someone that needs
will be met. If someone is accountable, you can trust that they will do what they claimed.
Without accountability you would not be able to put your trust in someone to complete a job
for you and other members of the team, or even show up on time to an important event ,or
formation. It is important because it holds each and everyone accountability for his or her
actions.Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for
ones actions. Now for the Army, it becomes an obligation more than willingness while you have
to be willing to do it as well. Those that are unable to be accountable are the ones that jeopardize
the combat readiness of any unit. Basically it is the understanding that from the bottom up. Top
down and laterally everyone is going to do and is willing to do the right thing even when no one
else is looking. This is practiced at your home base where everyone is assigned

Description And Description Of A Computer
NamePictureUseCommunicating MotherboardAll of the main components in a computer
connect to the motherboard the board allows all the things on it to computer to communicate.
This board contains the Northbridge and the Southbridge. The Northbridge controls the main
communications on the board between the ram, CPU and PCI e. The Southbridge
communicates with PCI, SATA and things like USB and audio. CPU The central processing
unit does all the calculations to process the data that is requested by the operating system. The
CPU connects through a socket in the motherboard and communicates with the Northbridge
which communicates with the ram and the rest of the computer to produce the data for the
CPU. CacheThe cache is inside the CPU. Where the CPU uses it as very high speed storage
where data is stored as it is processed this data is then offloaded into the ram. The cache only
communicates with the CPU as this is what gives it all its data and tells it what to store.
RamRam temporarily stores the data that is being processed by the CPU. This type of storage
is very fast so the computer can work faster than using the data directly from the HDD. However
this is volatile memory so when power is lost everything in the ram is lost. The ram
communicates with The CPU and the rest of the motherboard via the Northbridge. It receives and
stores data then sends the data when it is give a command to do so. Heat sinkThe heat sink sits on

Purchasing A Gas Stations Is A Great Investment
Outline
Introduction
Purchasing a gas stations is a great investment. For this reason my cousin Edger is seriously
considering purchasing two gas stations to increase his economical profits. I have been hired as a
consultant for edger to assist him with analyzing the gas station industry and help him determine
the best optimal decision. It is importance to consider the following when making a gas station
purchase: location, if a convenience store will be beneficial, and if a franchise or being independent
is the best route.
Determinants
Demand Determinants
1.Location competition
A company s location is a very important factor. Location is a key component to a successful and
profitable organization. When considering a location for a gas station it is important that buyer
considers the demand. The buyer must take into consideration the customers wants and needs and
all possible competition. Accessibility and neighborhood location is also a determining factor. Fox
example immediate accessibility would a benefit for a gas station that is near an express way or
highway.
The article Retail Redlining: Are Gasoline prices higher in poor and minority conducted a research
study concerning price in poor neighborhoods and how these neighborhoods affected the price of
gasoline. The research concluded that prices will be higher in neighborhoods where stations have
greater market power because of some combination of fewer competitors and/ or more inelastic
demand (Meyers, p. 801).

Opera Today Research Paper
Opera is just as popular as it was years ago. In the past groups of individuals used to meet up in
opera houses to watch the host perform a play or a musical. As of now most opera is played
through music cd s and DVD s, which is far less cheaper than purchasing a ticket to see a live
show. Opera today still takes place on stage and in theaters. The high cost of production can
sometimes make it not possible to have a live show which is very common in today s time.
Majority of the operasongs that are played today come from jazz, folk , and rock musicals.
Modern opera now uses electrical equipment to improve hearing and visual aid. The most common
form of opera in the 20th and 21th century is rock musicals. This type of musical is just like

Fallacies in a commercial Essay
Romney Killed My Wife
In political races in the United States logical fallacies are a staple in political ads. The 2012
election was no exception to this convention, especially being true in an advertisement with ex steel
plant worker Joe Soptic, speaking in Obama affiliated Political Action Committee Priorities. The
advertisement included many logical fallacies to argue against the Romney campaign. Those
include post hoc reasoning, ad hominem, and slippery slope.
The advertisement consisted of just one man, Joe Soptic, an ex steel plant worker, of GST Steel,
speaking against Mitt Romney. He personally points blame on Romney for the death of his wife.

In addition there was a caption in the video short after the previous statement by Soptic, claiming
that Mitt Romney and Bain Capital made millions for themselves and then closed the plant. This is
implying that Romney and Bain Capital are greedy. This has no relation to the topic of Romney s
political views and is merely an attack on character. Furthermore the advertisement ends with Soptic
stating that he does not think that Mitt Romney is concerned about the well being of workers of the
plant.
The last piece of logical fallacy that is present in the advertisement of 2012 is slippery slope. This
is when it is asserted that one event will inevitably be followed another with question or argument.
Slippery slope is implied in this advertisement in the way that if Romney is in charge, he will shut
down businesses, which will disable people to receive health insurance, which will cause many
deaths. This is improbable in the way that one event does not necessarily cause the other and
predominantly, is highly unlikely.
Logical fallacies are common in the political races in the United States, whether they re in
advertisements or in a speech given by a candidate. During the presidential election of 2012,
logical fallacies seemed to be more

The Buddhist Temple That Has Created Disagreement Among...
Borobudur located on the island of Java is a Buddhist temple that has created disagreement among
the academic community. There are two schools of thought in which scholars such as art historians
and archeologist debate about what the real significance and purpose of Borobudur is about. For
example, a group of scholars argues that Borobudur is stupa. This contrasts the other scholars who
contends that Borobudur is a mandala. Although both groups of scholars adequately analyze
Borobudur and provide evidence to support their arguments, the argument that the Buddhist temple
is both a mandala and stupa is rational. In this paper, I will present evidence from both sides of the
argument, in which Borobudur has ignited copious amounts of controversy for in the scholarly
communities. However, at the end, I will argue that I disagree with both schools of thought because
Borobudur is actually both a stupa and a mandala.
A stupa is a mound like circular structure that contains the relics of a Buddha. Buddhist frequently
participate in pilgrimages to stupas because of worship opportunities. Although Buddhist architects
built Borobudur in the 9th century, but academics do not know what the original purposes of what
the structure was constructed for. However, though visual and architectural evidence many
academics believe that Borobudur is a stupa. While traditionally, a structure, like a stupa consists of
one focalized and central grand stupa: Borobudur does not; the temple is composed

The Population Of The United States
As the population of the United States grows, one thing is apparent: minorities are overtaking the
Caucasian population (which is bound to become a minority before 2100). The increase of the
population of minorities in the United States will produce mixed race persons, who not only have
two sets of DNA from two different persons of different races, but two sets of culture. Sometimes,
this can cause a clash of ideologies, which can lead to an individual being raised multi culturally;
one may grow up eating the food of one culture in another culture s way. When one has a multi
cultural background, it may be hard to express one s cultural identity; alternatively, one may
identify as another, wholly separate culture. Perhaps growing up with a... Show more content on

Once the two are engaged, the two families exchange gifts, and the wedding ceremony takes
place at one of the family s houses, typically the groom s family. Once the marriage has been
official, the bride and groom will move to a new home. When death comes, the deceased is
preserved, dressed in white clothes, and put in a casket in a funeral home. In Vietnam, once the
funeral concludes, the casket is lifted to a certain cemetery for burial by a procession of close
relatives on foot, no matter the distance. (The procession sometimes blocks roads). The departed
is now revered by his or her descendants and, if he or she was prominent in society (e.g. a famous
military officer, a professor, a scientist, et cetera), they may call on his or her spirit for guidance.
On the other side of the spectrum is the birth ceremony. By Chinese zodiac standards, children
are one year old when they are born. In the weeks leading up to the birth (where the father is
customarily not present), the mother is encouraged to not eat certain foods or do certain things,
e.g. hot foods, cold water, bathe in hot or cold water, or milk, as it will interfere with the yin and
yang. Once the mother gives birth, she is considered cold , as birth results in a loss of blood,
which is hot by tradition. She undergoes a month long practice where she does not shower, bathe,
or do anything that can

Star Spangled Banner Meaning
The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. The instrumental song was
inspired by the British Bombing during the war of 1812. Over the years the Star Spangled Banner
has become a common tradition in Modern America that is played before almost every public
event. Kneeling and locking arms during the national anthem is disrespectful because it shows a
lack of respect and gratefulness towards the United Statesflag, solders, and younger generations as
a whole. The American flag, red, white, and blue, is the basis of our country and represents all we
stand for. The red represents the blood shed in order to make our country the great free nation it is

How Does Shakespeare Rhyme Scheme
1.Stanza/ Sestet
Definition: stanza is a group of lines that are set off to form a division in a poem, that are
sometimes linked with other stanza by a rhyme scheme. In some cases, blank verse poetry
are rare stanza because there is no rhyme scheme in the poem (Woods 1021). Sometimes
unrhymed poems are divided into stanzaic units and some rhymed poems are composed of
stanzas that vary in their components lines. Stanza are used to where they have been given
the convenience of a name. some scholars use stanza t divide four or more lines. A stanza
can also contain a couplet which is when a pair of rhymed lines are in equal in length
(Jasabiza.ir 341).
Example: Shakespeare poem Sonnet 18 is an example of a stanza as seen below:
Shall I compare thee to a summer s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature s changing course, untrimm d;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow st;
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. (poem.org)

The Sarbanes Oxley Act ( Fraud )
Fraudulent activities and embezzlement are more prevalent in organizations than most people
think. Because of the multitude of previous scandals, the Sarbanes Oxley Act has required all
publicly traded U.S. companies to have internal auditing and internal controls to check for
fraudulent activity and embezzlement. While the Sarbanes Oxley Act only applies to public
businesses, the requirements of it should be applied to all types of businesses, even universities. In
the Case of the City University of New York, having internal controls and auditingwould have
halted the embezzlement occurring there.

As the discoverer, David W. Chen is qualified to report on the updates of the case and present
facts and opinions. Chen s original findings are summarized in his article Lapses by CUNY
Officials Made System Ripe for Abuse, Report Says more clearly states his purpose for writing.
Chen hopes to halt the siphoning of money that could be best used for students in need or
campus projects. His previous experience as an investigative journalist allows him to only discuss
facts and not wrongfully infer things regarding the investigation. He largely values his journalistic
reputation and will not allow it to be fractured by incorrect statements. Both articles largely
present facts about each case (Marino and Coico) and does not make inferences about the
reasoning behind the embezzlement or connections. Instead, he restates court documents and
enables the understanding for a range of ages. This is one of the major strengths of his argument.
He does not even insert any opinions of wrongdoing. His lack of judgement keeps his piece
unbiased and strong. His use of quotations from various New York personnel adds personality and
personalizes the piece. The quotes also allow readers to have an inside look to the scandal. Both
articles state that shoddy oversight and ineffective management at the City University of New York
have created a system ripe for abuse that assisted in the siphoning of money (Chen, 2016). The
management there should have utilized

In the chosen profession of exercise science it is an important skill to adopt a certain approach to
working with different clientele; this may be in many different clinical situations. For example
sports scientists are now using the performance profile technique to help implement training
programs for athletes. A study concerning the performance profile areas was undertaken in 1998
and examined the effect of altered mood states involving the areas of perceived need for an
individual identified by the performance profile (Doyle and Parfitt, 1998). Similarly an experiment

Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman
A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a
mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver
trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences
of man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the
essential elements of a tragedy. Reality peels away the thin layers of Willy Loman s American

For Biff, the idea of success is an easy loan from an ex employer he has stolen from; for Hap,

Loman s unrealistic idea about success is one of the steps in their downfall.
Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable
choices to pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a
man who can t handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the
fanciful image of his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old
salesman who dies alone in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put
into their house, yet believes a salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter.
Furthermore, he questions the purpose of building because some stranger ll come along, move
in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an
impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with
a secretary is to get through to the buyers. Willy makes another poor choice because of his hubris,
or false pride, when he turns down Charley s job offer. Similarly, false pride and the inability to

Compare And Contrast Essay On Physical Therapy Vs...
There are several grey areas between physical therapy and occupational therapy. While both
occupations focus on physical functions of the anatomy, their intentions vary. An occupational
therapist s mission is to improve physical functions so a person can work or participate in daily life.
A physical therapist is tasked with diagnosing and treating physical ailments or injuries. The
relationship between physical therapists and occupational therapists shows common characteristics,
however; they are different in many ways. Some differences and similarities are the amount of
required education, salary, licensing, and job duties.
Both occupational and physical therapist require extensive degrees. One difference noted was the
required education to become a physical therapist or occupational therapist. A physical therapist
will be required to attend school longer than an occupational therapist. A physical therapist is
required to have a doctorate degree. A doctorate degree must be obtained after completing
undergraduate school and requires approximately three more years to complete. An occupational

events have shaped the country both for bad and good. Another such event is the Roaring Twenties.
The final event that shaped America was The Great Depression. These are only a few of the many
events that can be attributed to be an event that shaped The United States. One event that greatly
changed America was WWI. The best part about it was the industry boom. The manufactures gain
so much business that they had to create new technologies to manufacture all their demand for
the war which ended up creating many more jobs, even for women and African Americans. This
is where the good parts of the War end. By the end of the war, 117,465 Americans lost their lives

America Is A Melting Pot
America is a melting pot made up of people from many different races and ethnic backgrounds,
so why are the American news broadcasters predominantly white men in their late forties? News
represents the American society so therefore American broadcasters should reflect society as a
whole. In addition, many people consider news anchors role models and it is important to see
themselves represented and trust their news source. The lack of diversity among newscasters
impacts the audience s reception of the news. People are more likely to trust news sources that
they relate to and identify with. Many people do not even notice the lack of diversity or understand
the impact it has on society. There needs to be more of an effort to reflect diversity among our
newscasters to correct the history of discrimination, to accurately reflect the audience and to
provide role models and promote positive images.
The United States is called a melting pot because the the varied groups of people that live in the

goodness and virtues of their writers time and society. In the modern era they are mainly
characters with crazy powers and stories. However, not in the past where heroes were people who
fought for their writers country or for glory. The heroes were not merely people of great virtue and
honor, but also people that the youth of their nation looked to as heroes and legends. In the past 50
years to present day, in culture, heroes are separate from legends, they are strictly for entertainment
unlike legends, which are more mythological. Superman, Captain America, and John F. Kennedy all

Marcus Ulpius Nerva Personality
Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus, Trajan for short, was a highly successful Roman general and
Emperor in the early part of the first millennium. He started his career as a successful general,
expanding the Roman Empire. He was later the first Roman Emperor not to be Italian and
successfully extended the Roman Empireto its greatest extent as well as initiated many public
building projects, some of which survived into the present day.
Trajan was born into a non practician family on the 18th of September at Italica near Seville,
Spain in 53 CE and he died on the 9th of August in Selinus in Cilicia in 117 CE. His Dad was a

Trajan s main military achievement was that he greatly increased the size and wealth of the
Roman Empire by either Annexing or taking over neighbouring areas. Trajan s biggest campaign
was against the Dacia, a powerful kingdom north of modern Romania. In 101, he launched the
first campaign against the Dacians and their king, Decebalus, who lived in modern day Romania.
After defeating the Decian Army in 102, Trajan returned to Rome, only to fight them again in

Similarities Between Deucalion And Lycaon
In a Greek version Deucalion is warned of the flood. He builds an ark and stuffs it with
creatures. Deucalion also sends a pigeon to search for land, and the bird returns with an olive
branch. When he completes the voyage he gives thanks, and takes advice from the gods on how
to repopulate the Earth. In a more colorful version, Zeus was angered by the extreme pride of the
Pelasgians , the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region, so he decided to punish them.
Lycaon was the king of Arcadia, which was a part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was an
unspoiled, harmonious wilderness, thought to be the home of Pan. To punish Zeus for his
oppression, Lycaon offered a blood sacrifice. Arcas, a son of Zeus, was placed upon the burning
altar.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

community became His only believers. This caused the others to mock His efforts even more.
Salih asked that the rich stop oppressing the poor, and adopt a more virtuous behavior. A few
more people accepted His words. Not surprisingly, most of them refused to heed His warning,
and instead began to harass Him to cause a miracle as proof of the Power of God. Salih kept
telling them to look around and remember the numerous miracles God had already bestowed
upon them. He reminded His people of the countless castles and palaces they had built, and of
their rich farm fields, and technical superiority. He also reminded them of the fate of the Ad, and
how they were destroyed for their similar, unrepentant sins. Produce a camel from the rocks , they

blessings flow. There was still time to turn from idolatry to monotheism. Even a few of His

Exodus 20 Research Paper
Christians live their life by the word of God. They take the Bible and the contents within and hold
the contents as the guidelines by which they live their lives. The Bible, in Exodus 20, gives
Christians the Ten Commandments. Christians take the Ten Commandments and make those the
foundation by which they live their lives. The verses within Exodus 20 give Christians commands
on how to live their lives but, Exodus 20 is not the only chapter in the Biblethat gives Christians
commands that they must follow. Later in the Bible, in Leviticus 20:27, the Bible says, A man or
woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death (Holy Bible). What this verse
is saying is that anyone involved in magic must be put to death. But does that truly mean anyone?
The story of Harry Potter is centered around magic which naturally fuels Christian opposition
towards it, but underneath the magic the story shares similar morals and guidelines that Christians
align themselves with. This verse among others has been the driving force of Christian... Show

What was Professor Dumbledore implying by this? Professor Dumbledore was passing on his

some type of immortality within the series because of the talking portraits or ghosts. What does
the Bible have to say about this? Well in 1 John 2:17 it says, The world and its desires pass
away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever (Holy Bible). Obviously no one lives on
forever physically, so is this verse implying that there is life after death spiritually? Christians
would say yes to that question. So the theme of spiritual immortality in the Harry Potter series isn t
too far fetched then is it? The answer is no. There is not even a debate about

agreed, let the company provide it. If the employee brings in the board, they may feel like they
can dictate what is posted and it may not be work appropriate. It could cause conflict if other

The proliferation of marketing and advertising, coupled with the onslaught of millions of media
channels in today s world, has given cause for consumers to tune out and effectively avoid a great
deal of traditional supplier driven messaging. The creation of technologies such as PVRs, satellite
radio and Internet ad blocking software are driving a fundamental shift in the way the public
consumes media and the advertising often tied to it. Television ads, radio spots, online ads and
even emails are facing increasing competition for effectively capturing the viewer s attention and
provide positive ROI for the marketer. This competition, coupled with the rising cost of media
buys, has caused marketers to search for an alternative means to reach the customer. Viral marketing
is an attractive solution because it utilizes the free endorsement of the individual rather than
purchase of mass media to spread the word. Because the distribution model is free, viral can

The Greco-Christian Beliefs Of American Democracy
In the winter of December 7th, 1787, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Constitution was
ratified to establish the new country of the United States as a democracy. After their victory over
the British for American Independence, the United States government created the Constitution in
an effort to further establish themselves as an independent nation. With a new form of government
that would not allow the injustices caused by the British monarchy to occur again, the Constitution
s fundamental principles abided by many of the Greco Roman and Judeo Christian beliefs about
people and government. The Judeo Christian and Greco Roman seeds of democracycontributed to
the United Statesdemocratic government by protecting the rights of the individual and by giving
the ability for the citizens to vote on its leaders and laws.
The American Constitution was influenced partly by Judeo Christian ideas, mainly that the natural
rights of individual should be protected and unalienable. Followers of Judaism surmised that
humans were created in God s image, and as such each individual has a divine spark that gives him
or her a dignity that cannot be taken away (M.W.H. 12). In the American democracy, the Bill of
Rights gives all of the country s citizens certain rights that are unalienable, and cannot be taken
away. As opposed to other forms of government, where the social status of a citizen determined his
or her rights, the American Constitution gave all citizens the same rights

Unknown 20
Abstract
The bases of this experiment was to discover the identify of the unknown from three possible
specimens: Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, and Enterobacter aerogenes. Utilizaing the T
streak technique, the bacteria was isolated into pure colonies for further study. The Gram Stain
method was used to identity the morhphology of the bacteria such as the shape and whether the
bacteria was Gram positive or Gram negative. Biochemical test were also used to help identify the
unknown bacteria. The biochemical test used was the Triple Sugar Iron Agar, Sulfur Indole
Motility test, Methyl Red test, Voges Proskauer test, Citrate test, Urease test, and the Gelatin test.
After observing the morphology of the bacteria using the Gram Stain method and utilizing all the
possible biochemical test, the bacteria was identified to be Enterobacter aerogenes.
Introduction
Gram negative and gram positive bacteria differ from each other in many ways especially in the
composition and size of their cell walls. Unlike Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative bacteria
have a thin peptidoglycan layer surround by an outer membrane. This outer membrane contains
many proteins one of them being lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which contributes to the bacteria s
negative charge. One part of this protein is a lipid, called Lipid A, which is considered an
endotoxin because this lipid triggers an immune response stimulating fever

China s abandoned and orphaned children, I, for the first time in my life, wholly came to terms

The Importance Of Imagination In Frankenstein
Imagination is an attribute which every human being holds. It is an essential part of the human
mind which, when used effectively, can spawn the most extraordinary of ideas. It may, however, be
used in a way that fuels ones narcissistic tendencies, creating a cause for many problematic and
devastating situations. This means that one may praise their own interests or abilities to an extent
where they make assumptions about the futureand look at their actions in a positive light, when in
reality they are jeopardizing themselves and others around them by refusing to fully understand or
question the consequences of said actions. Furthermore, ones imaginations can also be a cause for
anxiety. If someone were to actually think of the many consequences which a specific event may
have on their life, it would likely be a great cause for concern. In some instances, one may feel
overwhelmed with such worry and act without taking into consideration what it is they are acting
on, while at other times may feel so certain about their decisions that they simply assume they are
making the right choice. In this sense, they may willingly embrace the future with open arms, but
be disappointed by the outcome. The story of Frankensteinby Mary Shelley greatly demonstrates
this idea that someone who is ever so certain about what truly is uncertain may envision a future
that represents their wants and desires and accept it until they are faced with reality, at which point
they will reject.

Chapter 7:
Bathsheba... scarcely knew whether most to be amused at the singularity of the meeting, or to be
concerned at its awkwardness. Here, the contrast is made between social classes. Hardy compares
Bathsheba s selfishness and vanity with Gabriel s recent fall to poverty.
Moving past Oak as a Christian edges past an offertory plate when he does not mean to contribute,
Gabriel gives his last coins to a shivering a trembling girl. Once again, Gabriel s actions go to show
his good heart.
It is all I have to spare. Gabriel says this before giving away his last coins. He is generous and
seems to put others before himself. Once again, a contrast between him and Bathsheba.

seems to like him at the malt house.

United States Economic Financial Crisis
Throughout the years, different events occurred and influenced the global economy positively
or negatively. For example, the oil crisis in the 70s negatively affected the economy just as bad
as the Gulf War did in 1990. On the other side, the end of other wars had a positive effect on the
economy, for example World War 2, which boosted the stock market and ended the Great
Depression. When multiple negative effects occur at the same time, or when crises last for a long
time allowing other negative effects to surface, crises tend to last longer and prevent a pick up in
growth.
The current economic financial crisis was indeed caused by the simultaneous occurrence of
events in different parts of the world that all had a negative effect. These events are subtly
different and therefore it is common that only one event is held responsible for the crisis. In
reality, the world economy became critical due to the mix of four major events: 1) the unrestrained
greed of financiers in the U.S. and U.K., which transformed bad mortgages into toxic financial
assets 2) the habit of getting deeply indebted in the U.S. and U.K., 3) the excessive liquidity in
Europe, 4) the real estate bubble in the U.S. and some European countries (Thomas, 2011) At the
beginning of the financial collapse in the United States, many commentators, among which was the

Religion and Prayer Must Not be Permitted in Public...
Early American colonists anticipated a country full of freedoms and opportunities. As the new
government was beginning to develop, the Founders took into consideration the restrictions placed
on them and their fellow immigrants in their former home lands. One difficulty the colonists
encountered back in Europe was the inability to practice a desired religionor not to practice one at

Since the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment protects the citizens from being influenced
or offended by government sponsor ed religion, prayer in the public school system is intolerable.
Accordingly, the idea of secularism was first proposed by James Madison in the religion clauses,
because he wanted to avoid any sort of political influence on religious institutions (Alley 1 8). As a
result of Madison s initiation of the concept of secularism, the role of religion in government
institutions such as schools is now considered unconstitutional.
In defiance to the Court s separation of church and state ruling, many public school districts persist
to support the exercise of prayer. Numerous cases have arisen reflecting the opposing views on the
role of prayer, including the 1962 precedent setting court case Engel v. Vitale. The debate occurred
because the children of a New York public school district were required to recite the following lines
every morning: Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee, and we beg t hey
blessing upon us, our parents, our teachers and our country (Sikorski xi). In response, the Supreme
Court immediately reprimanded the school system by declaring the act unconstitutional and
banning the prayer. The school and other advocates ar gued that the prayer was nondenominational

The United Nations ( Un ) Conference On Sustainable...
The United Nations (UN) Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012 led to the proposal
for sustainable development goals. The focus of this paper will be on Goal 14, Conserve and
sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development (United
Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, n.d.). Are the Targets Truly Measurable?
The targets (1 7) of Goal 14 are designed to provide ways to monitor the progress of this goal.
Generally, these targets do this, however, they do not provide specifics for the ways in which they
should be measured. For instance, target 14.1 refers to prevention and reduction of marine
pollution, but there is no indication of the way in which this can be done. Target 14.5 is to... Show

In Canada, the government has measures to reduce threats of pollution from land based activities
and spills (Environment Canada, 2013). Globally, there is UNEP s Global Programme of Action for
the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land based Activities (GPA). At least 72 countries
have created programs of marine protection and pollution reduction since GPA was established
(Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land based
Activities, 2014). It was difficult to find research to support whether target, 14.2 (sustainably
manage marine ecosystems by 2020) is being measured. The Intergovernmental Oceanographic
Commission (IOC) of UNESCO works with several global/intergovernmental programs of
Ecosystem Health and Ocean Observation. The IOC assesses marine environment globally working
with national governments and collects data on marine environment to help inform decision makers
(UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, 2015). Target 14.3 addresses ocean
acidification and minimization. In the United States (U.S.), the NOAA s PMEL Carbon program
has been working to determine how ocean acidification affects marine ecosystems (National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration PMEL Carbon Program, n.d.). The ICES/OSPAR Study
Group on Ocean Acidification incorporates different disciplines (e.g. chemistry, biology, etc.) to
create a long term program to address acidification (International Council for the

The Tim Hortons chain was founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario. The chain s focus on top

The Tim hortons restaurant franchise was founded by Miles Gilbert Tim Horton, a longtime

Technology And Its Effects On Aphasia Patients
B.Thesis: While technology plays a huge role in many aspects of Aphasia research, in the field of
Aphasia treatment, the use of technology is still largely developing. AAC technology has a lot of
potential to aid in the communication abilities of Aphasia patients, however, currently its use in
aphasia treatment is not as efficient as its benefits in aphasia patients do not seem to be
generalizable to real life communication outside of the treatment setting. II.Background A.What is
Aphasia? 1.Aphasia is typically caused by damage to the portion of the brain that is primarily
responsible for language. It is a communication disorder that can results in impaired speech and
language comprehension. 2.Aphasia does not present itself in the same way for everybody.
Depending on the kind of damage suffered, it can vary throughout patient s (Jacobs et al., 2004).
a)Language production may be very limited cannot speak fluently b)Some may have more trouble
with comprehension aspects speak fluently but words used don t make sense used incorrectly
c)Because it is related to brain damage, there are other cognitive deficits that may be associated with
aphasia, depending on the type of damage. 3.Every individual patient with chronic aphasia differs,
which means treatment has to be flexible and adaptable to the patient. B.What is AAC?
1.Augmentative and Alternative Communication 2.AAC refers to alternative methods of

Acid Rain Lab
How does acid rain affect the growth of plants?
Aim: to determine how simulated acid rain affects the growth of radishes.
Hypothesis: As the solution that is used to water the plants becomes more acidic, the height of the
plants will decrease. Therefore, it is expected that radishes watered with distilled water which has a
pH of 7 will exhibit the best growth than those watered with acidic solutions.
Variables
Independent variable: the pH of the solution
Dependent variable: the height of radishes
Controlled variables: the number of seeds the amount of solution
the amount of potting soil
the type of seeds
the type of acid
the amount of light each plant receives

Research Paper on Facebook Diminishing Privacy
Privacy is often defined as freedom from the observation, intrusion, or attention of others. If that
was taken away from daily life the world would become a collection of omniscient beings that
walk around with potentially harmful information about those surrounding them. Stalking would
be unnecessary because the internet would do all for the work for us. Social networking sites are
creating many such concerns. One of the most widely known social networking sites is Facebook.

Greek Gods and Goddesses
There were two types of Olympic Gods: Celestial Deities and Earth Deities. The Celestial Deities
dwelled on Mount Olympus while the Earth Deities resided on, or under, Earth. There were
twelve Olympic Gods; however, because the tales of these gods started out orally, the gods and
goddesses classified as Olympians are not totally clear. Because the Twelve Olympiansare not
totally clear, there are a possible fourteen gods and goddesses that could be classified as
Olympians. The gods and goddesses all had their place in Ancient Greece and were either
worshipped or hated because of their responsibilities and talents. The Greek Gods and Goddesses
all had a great influence and importance to Greek culture.

Stand And Deliver Movie Citation
Stand and Deliver: Movie about an Educational Setting
In order to complete this assignment, I decided to focus on the educational setting of the film
Stand and Deliver . Stand and Deliver took place in the year 1987 and was focused on
demonstrating the life challenges that students faced in the city of East Los Angeles California.
This movie is based on the true story of a mathematics teacher who motivated high school students
at Garfield High School to learn about calculus. Additionally, this filmwill identify the context,
norms, values, language, gender roles and the social structures of the movie.
In this film, Garfield high school is located in a poor neighborhood in East Los Angeles. The
movie portrayed this neighborhood as a location that was surrounded by violence, fights, and
crimes. Every night it was very common for the residents living in this neighborhood to witness
fights among gang members, and hear shootings and ambulance sirens. The majority of people who
lived in this neighborhood were Hispanic and Latino. They also lived ... Show more content on

and complete chores. As a result, the female students believed that completing an education was
not important because their role was to get married at a young age and learn how to raise a
household. Similarly, male students were expected to work and provide income for their families.
For many male students, their role was to work hard at their jobs in order to help their parents pay

The Deepwater Horizon spill in 2010 released 4.9 million barrels of crude oil into the Gulf of

remains in the Gulf, after the use of methods such as burning and chemical dispersion. This event
had some serious consequences on our marine environment, including 4,768 dead animals washed

Cultural Diversity in America Essay
America is greatly influenced and enhanced by the many versatile cultures which inhabit it.
Cultural diversity has added to our economy in such a way that it brings innovated ideas and
contact structures throughout the world. International cuisines have come to America through
subcultures, have expanded the food industry, and have allowed English Americans to try new
foods and flavors. Immigrants have brought with them religious values that greatly differ and vary
from those at which were natural in the main stream American culture. The educational
development through foreign nationals has led America, as a nation, to excel and be deemed one of
the most intelligent nations in the world! Consequently, the subcultures have kept our... Show more

Foreign nationals bring with them the tastes and delights from their own country. Presently,
Americans have such a wide selection of foods to choose from including but not limited to
Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Greek, Thai, and Japanese. In the agricultural industry, researchers
have taken domestic plants and bred them with international plants to create a more desirable
embryonic plant which grows to have only the best characteristics of the two plants. This
idealistic technology wouldn t have been deemed possible if it wasn t subject to the vast array of
cultural diversity to challenge the standard characteristics of domestic vegetations. Along with any
nation in the world, comes a variety of religions. The English founded this nation on Christianity;
however, numerous people today denounce this monotheistic belief and instead have put their
faith in beliefs brought to this country by foreigners. This assorted variety allows believers to
choose a religion which better suits their beliefs and practices, and gives individuals a choice on
spiritual fulfillment in their lives. These religious beliefs combined with the democratic state of
the nation have led to public displays of religious celebration in America. Ramadan, Yom Kippur,
Kwanzaa, Christmas, Cinco de Mayo, and Hanukkah have been a few of the celebrations brought
to America via immigrants. Some of the most celebrated and famous revels include St. Patrick s

The Use Of Sexual Gratification On College Campuses
Hookups are a type of brief sexual relationship that typically occur on only one occasion between
two people who are usually strangers or have briefly become acquainted (Paul, McManus Hayes,
2000). Hooking up may be considered to be the contemporary term for the older phrase one night
stand which also implies a no strings attached interlude. In this sort of association, sexual
gratification can be the primary goal, with companionship being a distant consideration. This
variety of alliance can certainly involve both heterosexual and homosexual couples and can be
facilitated through friends or like minded individuals. According to one study, this casual and non
committal sexual encounter based form of interaction now finds itself as the predominating
heterosexual relationship on college campuses (Stinson, 2010). It may be easy to see why this is
the case as the lifestyles of students are busy ones and often little time is available to devote to
what is necessary to maintain a more serious involvement. Friends with Benefits Friends with
benefits relationships are generally considered to be a relationship that occurs between friends of
the opposite sex who participate in sexual practices but view their bond as being non romantic
(Hughes, Morrison, Asada, 2007). However, there is no reason to believe that this type of strictly
platonic relationship cannot have its equivalent parallel with members of the same sex. There are
advantages to this type of arrangement that are

Differing Views on Reconstruction
By 1866, several distinct positions on Reconstruction emerged. These were divided into three
opposing camps: Conservatives (democrats), Moderates, and Radicals. The Conservatives believed
the South should be readmitted into the Union as soon as possible, but the Radicals and Moderates
believed there should be consequences for succeeding. br br The question of what those
consequences should be separated Radical from Moderate. The answer to this question was as
related to how important each side believed it was to enfranchise African Americans into this
country (socially, politically, economically, and culturally) as it was in exacting an appropriate
punishment for the treasonous South. Although the two Republican factions disagreed on... Show

Richard H. Dana outlined this theory in his 1865 speech when he stated We have a right to hold
the rebels in the grasp of war until we have obtained whatever the public safety and the public
faith require. This called for a military occupation of the South, however Radicals and Moderates
disagreed on the idea of land confiscation. Moderates believed that if blacks were given equal
rights to whites then they could slowly pull themselves up by the bootstraps and gain
socioeconomic equality to whites within several generations. Moderates also believed that giving
blacks land would make them lazy, this they said would lead to blacks not farming. Moreover,
they did not believe blacks deserved the land, because they had not worked for it. Most
importantly they believed, that by confiscating Southern lands and giving them to blacks, this
would anger former slaveholders and thus make Reconstruction more difficult. br br Both
Moderates and Radicals shared the philosophy of racial egalitarianism. Moderates and Radicals
were staunch supporters of the 13th and 14th Amendments. These factions united when they
refused to swear in Southern Congressmen in 1868. This was a defiant measure. At the forefront
of the push for Johnson s impeachment were Radicals and Moderates. The division occurred on
the policy of confiscation. Radicals saw it as a way of giving the newly enfranchised African
American land to farm while the Moderates

Analysis of a Sixty Second Sequence of I Robot Essay
Analysis of a Sixty Second Sequence of I Robot Throughout this essay I will be analysing a sixty
second sequence of the film I Robot. Directed by Alex Proyas, the film was released in 2004 and
was a hit at the box office. The film is an action thriller inspired by Isaac Asimov s classic short
story collection. Asimov s books set forth the three laws of robotics. Law 1. A Robot may not
injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Law 2. A Robot
must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with first law.

I have decided to analyse the scene when Spooner has caught Sonny after his escape from the
murder scene. He is taken to police headquarters and although the lieutenant is hesitant about the
idea, he lets Spooner interrogate him. I have decided to use this scene because I believe it helps
the viewer see how Spooner s prejudice of Robots will diminish through his interactions with
Sonny. Sonny s child like inquisitiveness stops him in his tracks. This pattern of Spooner
questioning Sonny s humanity and Sonny replying to these questions in a very human way is
repeated throughout the film. There are also what seem to be small events in this scene that
turn out to be significant later on in the film. My favourite scene is Sonny and I in the
interrogation room. I love its humanity. His direction to me was that I was a racist sheriff who
d just captured the person I am most racist against. (Will Smith 2004) The seen is set in a police
interrogation room. It is typical of any other police interrogation room seen in many other films.
There is a table placed in the middle of the room with Sonny sat at one end. The room is dimly lit
except for the table where there is a large light shinning down on it. Apart from another chair there
are no other objects. Also in the there are six armed guards, pointing there weapons at Sonny. The
film is set in the future, so in order to make

The Effects Of The Watergate Scandal
Many people, myself included look up to individuals in an authoritative role such as; senators,
governors, and presidents. We view them as being honest and sincere. They have to be right? They
do want to run the country after all. Often our thoughts are they would never lie to us or hide things
from us , but unfortunately that s not always the case. One of the biggest political scandals to hit
the United States of America was the Watergate scandalinvolving our very own President Richard
Nixon. This scandal caused a lot of American s to lose trust and hope in the presidency. The
scandal received its name from the Watergate apartment and office complex that was located in
Washington D.C., where a burglary took place on June 17, 1972 and five men were arrested. It then
came to surface that the men s intentions were to sabotage the opposite political party, when
president Nixon was notified of this he order the Central Intelligence Agency to call the FBI to stop

  • 2. Dogs Are Dogs And Cats To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more; some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named docga . The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good human companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of the word catcomes from old English and Middle English as catte . The word cat means a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box that s kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Serial Killer Research Paper Serial killers are probably one of the most horrified subjects ever. I mean could you imagine being killed? By a person who sees you ve done something so wrong to them and you may not even know their name? Maybe they re just crazy and you re their innocent victim, or maybe it s all a part of revenge. The thoughts running through the killer and victims heads, are unrevealed. The gruesome facts, are stomach turning. The way the killers or survivors describe what happened, would make you very paranoid. Don t say it wouldn t ever happen in your home town. Because it has, it has happened right here in Arkansas. Jessie was taken to the West Memphis Police Department for questioning, after his father had given him consent on June 3, 1993. Jessie was interrogated for 2 ВЅ hours and confessed. Jessies family believed he could have been involved in the murders. Jessie Jr. s dad admitted he may have been with the other boys at the crime scene. • 4. What Is the Importance of Accountability in the Military... What is the importance of accountability in the military and in the work place? What is accountability by definition: (Department Of Defense) The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping. Accountability is very important because it allows for your chain of command to know where you are at at the moment. Anything can and will happen especially in combat, that s why the team member should make sure that the team or squad leader know where the soldier and his or her equipment is at all times. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and belongings for the soldiers, so the Army expects to know where its equipment is. No matter what someone is always responsible for equipment in the Army. Accountability is important because it assures someone that needs will be met. If someone is accountable, you can trust that they will do what they claimed. Without accountability you would not be able to put your trust in someone to complete a job for you and other members of the team, or even show up on time to an important event ,or formation. It is important because it holds each and everyone accountability for his or her actions.Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for ones actions. Now for the Army, it becomes an obligation more than willingness while you have to be willing to do it as well. Those that are unable to be accountable are the ones that jeopardize the combat readiness of any unit. Basically it is the understanding that from the bottom up. Top down and laterally everyone is going to do and is willing to do the right thing even when no one else is looking. This is practiced at your home base where everyone is assigned ... • 6. Description And Description Of A Computer NamePictureUseCommunicating MotherboardAll of the main components in a computer connect to the motherboard the board allows all the things on it to computer to communicate. This board contains the Northbridge and the Southbridge. The Northbridge controls the main communications on the board between the ram, CPU and PCI e. The Southbridge communicates with PCI, SATA and things like USB and audio. CPU The central processing unit does all the calculations to process the data that is requested by the operating system. The CPU connects through a socket in the motherboard and communicates with the Northbridge which communicates with the ram and the rest of the computer to produce the data for the CPU. CacheThe cache is inside the CPU. Where the CPU uses it as very high speed storage where data is stored as it is processed this data is then offloaded into the ram. The cache only communicates with the CPU as this is what gives it all its data and tells it what to store. RamRam temporarily stores the data that is being processed by the CPU. This type of storage is very fast so the computer can work faster than using the data directly from the HDD. However this is volatile memory so when power is lost everything in the ram is lost. For this reason my cousin Edger is seriously considering purchasing two gas stations to increase his economical profits. I have been hired as a consultant for edger to assist him with analyzing the gas station industry and help him determine the best optimal decision. It is importance to consider the following when making a gas station purchase: location, if a convenience store will be beneficial, and if a franchise or being independent is the best route. Determinants Demand Determinants 1.Location competition A company s location is a very important factor. Location is a key component to a successful and profitable organization. When considering a location for a gas station it is important that buyer considers the demand. The buyer must take into consideration the customers wants and needs and all possible competition. Accessibility and neighborhood location is also a determining factor. Fox example immediate accessibility would a benefit for a gas station that is near an express way or highway. The article Retail Redlining: Are Gasoline prices higher in poor and minority conducted a research study concerning price in poor neighborhoods and how these neighborhoods affected the price of gasoline. As of now most opera is played through music cd s and DVD s, which is far less cheaper than purchasing a ticket to see a live show. Opera today still takes place on stage and in theaters. The high cost of production can sometimes make it not possible to have a live show which is very common in today s time. Majority of the operasongs that are played today come from jazz, folk , and rock musicals. Modern opera now uses electrical equipment to improve hearing and visual aid. • 9. Fallacies in a commercial Essay Romney Killed My Wife In political races in the United States logical fallacies are a staple in political ads. The 2012 election was no exception to this convention, especially being true in an advertisement with ex steel plant worker Joe Soptic, speaking in Obama affiliated Political Action Committee Priorities. The advertisement included many logical fallacies to argue against the Romney campaign. Those include post hoc reasoning, ad hominem, and slippery slope. The advertisement consisted of just one man, Joe Soptic, an ex steel plant worker, of GST Steel, speaking against Mitt Romney. He personally points blame on Romney for the death of his wife. In addition there was a caption in the video short after the previous statement by Soptic, claiming that Mitt Romney and Bain Capital made millions for themselves and then closed the plant. This is implying that Romney and Bain Capital are greedy. This has no relation to the topic of Romney s political views and is merely an attack on character. Furthermore the advertisement ends with Soptic stating that he does not think that Mitt Romney is concerned about the well being of workers of the plant. The last piece of logical fallacy that is present in the advertisement of 2012 is slippery slope. This is when it is asserted that one event will inevitably be followed another with question or argument. Slippery slope is implied in this advertisement in the way that if Romney is in charge, he will shut down businesses, which will disable people to receive health insurance, which will cause many deaths. This is improbable in the way that one event does not necessarily cause the other and predominantly, is highly unlikely. Logical fallacies are common in the political races in the United States, whether they re in advertisements or in a speech given by a candidate. • 10. The Buddhist Temple That Has Created Disagreement Among... Borobudur located on the island of Java is a Buddhist temple that has created disagreement among the academic community. There are two schools of thought in which scholars such as art historians and archeologist debate about what the real significance and purpose of Borobudur is about. For example, a group of scholars argues that Borobudur is stupa. This contrasts the other scholars who contends that Borobudur is a mandala. Although both groups of scholars adequately analyze Borobudur and provide evidence to support their arguments, the argument that the Buddhist temple is both a mandala and stupa is rational. In this paper, I will present evidence from both sides of the argument, in which Borobudur has ignited copious amounts of controversy for in the scholarly communities. However, at the end, I will argue that I disagree with both schools of thought because Borobudur is actually both a stupa and a mandala. A stupa is a mound like circular structure that contains the relics of a Buddha. Buddhist frequently participate in pilgrimages to stupas because of worship opportunities. Although Buddhist architects built Borobudur in the 9th century, but academics do not know what the original purposes of what the structure was constructed for. However, though visual and architectural evidence many academics believe that Borobudur is a stupa. While traditionally, a structure, like a stupa consists of one focalized and central grand stupa: Borobudur does not; the temple is composed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Population Of The United States As the population of the United States grows, one thing is apparent: minorities are overtaking the Caucasian population (which is bound to become a minority before 2100). The increase of the population of minorities in the United States will produce mixed race persons, who not only have two sets of DNA from two different persons of different races, but two sets of culture. Sometimes, this can cause a clash of ideologies, which can lead to an individual being raised multi culturally; one may grow up eating the food of one culture in another culture s way. When one has a multi cultural background, it may be hard to express one s cultural identity; alternatively, one may identify as another, wholly separate culture. Perhaps growing up with a... Once the marriage has been official, the bride and groom will move to a new home. When death comes, the deceased is preserved, dressed in white clothes, and put in a casket in a funeral home. In Vietnam, once the funeral concludes, the casket is lifted to a certain cemetery for burial by a procession of close relatives on foot, no matter the distance. (The procession sometimes blocks roads). The departed is now revered by his or her descendants and, if he or she was prominent in society (e.g. a famous military officer, a professor, a scientist, et cetera), they may call on his or her spirit for guidance. On the other side of the spectrum is the birth ceremony. By Chinese zodiac standards, children are one year old when they are born. In the weeks leading up to the birth (where the father is customarily not present), the mother is encouraged to not eat certain foods or do certain things, e.g. hot foods, cold water, bathe in hot or cold water, or milk, as it will interfere with the yin and yang. Once the mother gives birth, she is considered cold , as birth results in a loss of blood, which is hot by tradition. • 12. Star Spangled Banner Meaning The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. The instrumental song was inspired by the British Bombing during the war of 1812. Over the years the Star Spangled Banner has become a common tradition in Modern America that is played before almost every public event. Kneeling and locking arms during the national anthem is disrespectful because it shows a lack of respect and gratefulness towards the United Statesflag, solders, and younger generations as a whole. My parents made my adoption seem like a grand fairytale, and they were my happy ending. To them, adoption made me more special than the average kid, causing me to never think twice about my beginnings. I was the miracle child who brought joy to everyone I met. I conducted intense research on the topic, and I fell into a depression during that time. So many abortions voluntary and forced, early and late term. So much abandonment. As I read an article about all of China s abandoned and orphaned children, I, for the first time in my life, wholly came to terms with the fact that I had been one of those abandoned infants. I had been an almost victim of this cruel, unjust policy. When I presented, I used my own story to open and close my speech. I addressed myself by my middle name my Chinese name, the name they called me in the orphanage. This is Louzhi, I somberly declared. She was abandoned and placed in an orphanage as a small child, and she is one of the millions of babies who are affected by China s One Child Policy. I discussed the policy s history and how the only hope for abandoned Chinese babies was adoption. Throughout that ten minute speech, I felt like an ambassador for Louzhi. • 37. The Importance Of Imagination In Frankenstein Imagination is an attribute which every human being holds. It is an essential part of the human mind which, when used effectively, can spawn the most extraordinary of ideas. It may, however, be used in a way that fuels ones narcissistic tendencies, creating a cause for many problematic and devastating situations. This means that one may praise their own interests or abilities to an extent where they make assumptions about the futureand look at their actions in a positive light, when in reality they are jeopardizing themselves and others around them by refusing to fully understand or question the consequences of said actions. Furthermore, ones imaginations can also be a cause for anxiety. If someone were to actually think of the many consequences which a specific event may have on their life, it would likely be a great cause for concern. In some instances, one may feel overwhelmed with such worry and act without taking into consideration what it is they are acting on, while at other times may feel so certain about their decisions that they simply assume they are making the right choice. In this sense, they may willingly embrace the future with open arms, but be disappointed by the outcome. The story of Frankensteinby Mary Shelley greatly demonstrates this idea that someone who is ever so certain about what truly is uncertain may envision a future that represents their wants and desires and accept it until they are faced with reality, at which point they will reject. ... Let the young woman pass, says Oak after giving his to pence to the gatekeeper. • 39. United States Economic Financial Crisis Throughout the years, different events occurred and influenced the global economy positively or negatively. For example, the oil crisis in the 70s negatively affected the economy just as bad as the Gulf War did in 1990. On the other side, the end of other wars had a positive effect on the economy, for example World War 2, which boosted the stock market and ended the Great Depression. When multiple negative effects occur at the same time, or when crises last for a long time allowing other negative effects to surface, crises tend to last longer and prevent a pick up in growth. The current economic financial crisis was indeed caused by the simultaneous occurrence of events in different parts of the world that all had a negative effect. These events are subtly different and therefore it is common that only one event is held responsible for the crisis. In reality, the world economy became critical due to the mix of four major events: 1) the unrestrained greed of financiers in the U.S. and U.K., which transformed bad mortgages into toxic financial assets 2) the habit of getting deeply indebted in the U.S. and U.K., 3) the excessive liquidity in Europe, 4) the real estate bubble in the U.S. and some European countries (Thomas, 2011) At the beginning of the financial collapse in the United States, many commentators, among which was the President of the Federal Reserve, hastily affirmed that the situation would only affect the United States and at most, the UK, where the banks, ... As the new government was beginning to develop, the Founders took into consideration the restrictions placed on them and their fellow immigrants in their former home lands. One difficulty the colonists encountered back in Europe was the inability to practice a desired religionor not to practice one at all. Since the newly formed country was made up of people from more than one religious background, the government had to come up with a way to accommodate all of its citizens. Since the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment protects the citizens from being influenced or offended by government sponsor ed religion, prayer in the public school system is intolerable. Accordingly, the idea of secularism was first proposed by James Madison in the religion clauses, because he wanted to avoid any sort of political influence on religious institutions (Alley 1 8). As a result of Madison s initiation of the concept of secularism, the role of religion in government institutions such as schools is now considered unconstitutional. In defiance to the Court s separation of church and state ruling, many public school districts persist to support the exercise of prayer. Numerous cases have arisen reflecting the opposing views on the role of prayer, including the 1962 precedent setting court case Engel v. Vitale. The debate occurred because the children of a New York public school district were required to recite the following lines every morning: Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee, and we beg t hey blessing upon us, our parents, our teachers and our country (Sikorski xi). The Use Of Sexual Gratification On College Campuses Hookups are a type of brief sexual relationship that typically occur on only one occasion between two people who are usually strangers or have briefly become acquainted (Paul, McManus Hayes, 2000). Hooking up may be considered to be the contemporary term for the older phrase one night stand which also implies a no strings attached interlude. In this sort of association, sexual gratification can be the primary goal, with companionship being a distant consideration. This variety of alliance can certainly involve both heterosexual and homosexual couples and can be facilitated through friends or like minded individuals. According to one study, this casual and non committal sexual encounter based form of interaction now finds itself as the predominating heterosexual relationship on college campuses (Stinson, 2010). Sonny s child like inquisitiveness stops him in his tracks. This pattern of Spooner questioning Sonny s humanity and Sonny replying to these questions in a very human way is repeated throughout the film. There are also what seem to be small events in this scene that turn out to be significant later on in the film. My favourite scene is Sonny and I in the interrogation room. I love its humanity. His direction to me was that I was a racist sheriff who d just captured the person I am most racist against. (Will Smith 2004) The seen is set in a police interrogation room.
