The Importance Of Special Needs In Special Education
I am currently teaching a practicum where my students (who are actually teachers getting their master
s degree in special education) are teaching students with special needs. Some of these teachers are
encountering students with autism for the first time and have felt some anxiety about this so they
asked for some ideas and strategies to help them in the classroom. These are some of the suggestions
that I have given them that I have used in the classroom successfully.
1. Use Task Analysis very specific, tasks in sequential order.
2. Always keep your language simple and concrete. Get your point across in as few words as possible.
Typically, it s far more effective to say Pens down, close your journal and line up to go outside than It
looks so nice outside. Let s do our science lesson now. As soon as you ve finished your writing, close
your books and line up at the door. We re going to study plants outdoors today .
3. Teach specific social rules/skills, such as turn taking and social distance.
4. Give fewer choices. If a child is asked to pick a color, say red, only give him two to three choices to
pick from. The more choices, the more confused an autistic child will become.
5. If you ask a question or give an instruction and are greeted with a blank stare, reword your
sentence. Asking a student what you just said helps clarify that you ve been understood.
6. Avoid using sarcasm. If a student accidentally knocks all your papers on the floor and you say
Great! you

Identify His Strengths and Error Pattern
Identify his strengths and error pattern. Describe why you think that way. He is excellent in his
addition skills. He understands how to add numbers together, but he is just confused about this set up
of addition. His error pattern is that if he has a two digit number in the first column he will put both
numbers in the answer instead of the number in the ones place. For example, in the first problem he
adds 6 + 7 correctly (13) but he puts both the ones and the tens in the answer. Then he brings down the
1 instead of what it should have been 1 + 1 (2) to make the answer 23. He follows this same pattern in
problems 4, 5, 7, and 8 as well. In the third problem he adds the tens digits first 3 + 8 (11) and puts
one 1 in the answer and the other 1 over the ones place. Then adds 5 + 1 + 1 (7) instead of adding 5 +
1 (6) and 3 + 8 (11) making the answer 116. He follows this pattern with number six too.
2)How would you respond to John? Design a mathematics activity to use with this child in addressing
his errors. In your intervention, use concrete materials such as base ten blocks including a place value
chart. Briefly describe what questions you would use in accordance with the activity. I would tell him
that he is on the right track with his addition skills! There is a common error that he keeps making, but
we can work on it and easily fix it! I would provide a lot of practice for him to correct this error. I
believe in one problem he added from the tens place before

Summer Holidays
Summary The article, Should children study in the summer holidays? (Jackson, 2017) discusses the
pros and cons of continuing a child s education throughout their summer vacation. In favor of this idea
was Vivien Stiles, a professional tutor for Kumon, who argued that studying over the summer would
help children ease back into a full school year. Stiles continued to explain the program as a two day
school week which teaches Mathematics and English. The average time it takes for each student to
complete their homework for their class is between 15 and 90 minutes. Others, like Tanith Carey, fear
that extending classroom education into the summer may overwhelm some young minds. She
explained how her daughter felt so overwhelmed by her education experience she tried to deny an
award she won because there was too much that surrounded the acceptance of that award. Once Carey
realized how much stress the extra schooling during the summer was causing her daughter, she
removed her from the tutoring program so she could play and experience a stress free childhood. Over
years the results have been quite positive for Carey and her two daughters as they have both found
passions in the arts and are leading healthy happy lives. She stresses the importance of learning not
only in classrooms, but through nature, exploring, and experiencing the natural environment around
them. According to Carey some parents are overlooking how much their children really learn when
they are able to explore

Relational Database Research Paper
Bookstores Relational Database Design
A relational database is designed to comply with a term called normalization. Normalization is a
process of organizing tables to minimize the redundancy in the database. The design of a relational
database decreases the amount of space the database uses in a system. The relational database uses
fields to help reduce redundancy in the tables. Relational designed database use the relational value in
fields, an example would be a field for Book_ISBN and a field with Title_ISBN, could be limited to
just one field naming the ISBN (Safari).
If the book store does not have experience building a relational database they should (call an expert)
practice with sample data to identify any problems in the initial design. Once they have all the
problems worked out, the bookstore can move onto building their real database. At first a list of books
will have to be compiled. This list would contain the title of the book, the authors name, the ISBN and
category which would denote the field name for each column for the database. The domain controls
the value that can be used in each column identifying the list of books. Using the sample table will
allow the bookstore to test and create ways in which the data can be stored, manipulated and queried,
called data cleanup. An example would be how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Difference Between Command Economy And Free Market Economy
INTRODUCTION OVERVIEW The major difference between command economy and free market
economy is the degree of government intervention and the reliance of market to determine prices
(Cherunilam, 2009). Command market is the system in which the market is centrally controlled and
regulated by the government; free market economy is the system demand and supply determine the
market prices and regulations. However, mixed economy is a combination of Command and Free
market economy (Bogolib, 2013); the market price is determined by demand and supply but the
government intervenes to ensure stability and economic growth. This intervention has a major impact
in the position of an economy in the business cycle. This report evaluates the advantages and
disadvantages of England being a mixed economy, and shows how the government intervenes in the
market. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The essay is fo ENGLAND S MIXED ECONOMY With mixed
economy there is always a variation to the degree of government intervention in different countries. In
England, where the mixed economy is utilized, there is a strong presence of both the private and
public sector. For instance, the grocery sector is controlled by the market; However resources are
allocated in the health sector by the government (Higson, 2011). Although there is a distinct private
sector, the system allows the government to exert control over the operations of businesses in the
private sector to achieve economic balance and stability (Barras,

Culture Is The Sum Total Of Ways Of Living Built Up By A...
What is culture? Culture has a very broad definition. But in terms of anthropology, culture is the sum
total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to
another (www.dictionary.com). Culture is learned, it is passed on from many generations. What is
gender? Gender is either the male or female division of a species, especially as differentiated by social
and cultural roles and behavior. However, gender plays a big role in culture all around the world. In
this analysis essay I will be analyzing how males and females are raised with differences in third
world countries compared to the western culture of the United States. What are the roles that males
and females have? In countries such as India, Pakistan, China, there is still a lot of controversy about
how a male and female should be treated. It has a lot to do with culture and tradition. Some of these
cultural traits have been passed down from generations and are still around which some people follow.
Some may consider it double standards and others may think that it is the norm. So how is gender
related to culture? In society it is expected that the women and men behave a certain way. The gender
disparities are shaped and formed by culture. It is better explained by Jyotirmaya Tripathy who wrote
the article How Gendered is Gendered Development? Culture, Masculinity, and Gender Differences ,
she explains that though there has been some modernity in third

Fidel Castro Rhetoric
Children are blunt in their thinking. Adults like to call this bluntness, being a matter of factly , blunt or
literal. When these children are put to the task of picking teams they will pick by who they like, who
will help the team win, or who they have a crush on. Inevitably there will be that dreaded one who is
picked last. This is North Cyprus the last to be picked but better yet they were only picked by one
country and that is Turkey.
For North Cyprus to get any good in the world the goods have to go through Turkey. The sanction of
not being allowed to trade with anyone other than Turkey has caused an import tax on all goods
between 4% and 6% of the price of that good. As Doctor Bahro A Berhan. and Glenn P. Jenkins stated

America Should Not Be Allowed Since World War I
As Peter Schmidt of the chronicle says, legacies originated after World War I to support the immigrant
students, particularly Jews. When it became harder to control Jewish enrollment, in 1920 s most
respected universities such as Harvard, Yale and Princeton considered legacy status. Since then it has
raised the concerns for lower class families who did not attend good universities and their children
wanted to attend but ended up not getting admission. In 2003, Senator Edward Kennedy sought
legislation to compel colleges to make public their data on legacy admissions. It didn t pass due to
higher education s powerful lobbying. Legacy admission should not be allowed since it promotes
discrimination, lowers academic competition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows how ivy colleges prefer legacy admissions. Although it is not illegal, but recently two legal
theories are offered under which legacy preferences could be challenged at both public and private
institutions under the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause (Ladeswki 578). The civil act
of 1866 prevents the states from giving titles of nobility. Minorities since most of elite university s
alumni belong to upper class families. Americans are concerned about such type of practices as it
creates doubt about institution s commitment to meritocracy and equal opportunity (Mullen 47). On
the contrary, three out of four Americans oppose ancestry based discrimination so they can create
equal opportunities for lower class families to get into elite colleges. According to Mullen research
shows that a candidate has a 30% chance of admission, an applicant with the exact same academic
record and extracurricular activities, but also a parent who attended the school as an undergraduate
would have 75% chance. This shows that due to legacy admission, there s less academic competition.
Moreover, many colleges claim that legacy status is just use as a tie breaker in a very close admission
call. However, according to the book affirmative action for the rich informs that the weight of legacy
preference is noteworthy, adding 160 points to candidate s record. Samuel G. Freedman states that
there are varieties of unearned advantages, legacy admissions being

I would tread the waters of global expansion and would first expand with our neighbors to the south,
Mexico. Some of the economic issues that I would run into would be the low income revenue that
families in Mexico face. The infrastructure in Mexico is well developed in major cities but that is
about it. Other cities have poor to non existent infrastructure. The way I would mitigate these issues
would be place my businesses in tourist cities (I.E. Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Monterrey,
and Etc.) and international airports.
The social culture difference that I would have to take into consideration are that many Mexicans only
speak English. I would have to get bilingual workers that spoke both Spanish and English. I would
also take into consideration the narco culture that they are currently living in. Many drug gangs are
running the country and I would have to mitigate that so my workers would be safe.
Technological issues would be minimal. Mexico is well off when it comes to internet technology.
Almost every home in major cities now have Wi Fi connection. My business would also be able to

Stereotypes In Yellow Face
The satirical play Yellow Face by Jeff Liu exposed the racism toward Asian Americans in the United
States. Yellow Face began as a reaction to the casting of a Caucasian as an Asian role in the Broadway
play M. Butterfly but unraveled to be a challenge of the status quo and stereotypes. In the play, almost
all the actors were cast to represent multiple characters, but I was mostly impressed by the
performances of the father Sab Shimono since he added an emotional appeal, the protagonist of the
play, Ryan Yu, due to his alert reactions, and Christopher Gorham through his emphasis on his role as
an Asian. Shimono constantly created a passionate connection that was very effective. Throughout the
play, Shimono played an important role in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yu exemplified active shifts in his expression and movements which allowed him to stay true to his
character. For example, when Yu accidentally chose Christopher Gorham and realized Gorham wasn t
Asian, Yu immediately acted surprised and at a loss of words. His reaction was revealed when Yu
spoke to his father about the incident with Gorham in the middle of the night. Yu was at his desk
already a little drunk and as he spoke with his father he portrayed a guilty voice and in the scene he
also took some pills. By having this conversation in midst of the night, and by mixing pills with
alcohol, all of these small gestures revealed his distraught composer and his stressful temperament.
Furthermore, when Gorham was asked questions by Asian American students, Yu instantly replied for
him and he invented the story of Gorham s Siberian Jewish descent. Throughout this whole scene, Yu
acted confused and angered, which were all shown through his facial response and his tense body
language as he bit his nails and continually spilled out new details to corroborate his story of Gorham
with a shaky voice in hope to cover his mistake. Overall, Yu used his facial expression and body

Face Everything And Rise
Face Everything And Rise Strength (n.) ~ the quality or state of being strong. Life pushes us to be our
best through the many tests and trials. These trials teach us lessons, along with making us stronger.
Each and everyone s tests are different. Such as peer pressure, problems with self image or even
learning how to carry on after a loved one has passed. During the Autumn of seventh grade my
Grandfather passed away and even though I m sad about this it s made me stronger. It was a hard test,
but without the lessons I learned I wouldn t be who I am today. In the end the term oil we face is
worthwhile. It s not the breaths you take that matter, but the moments that take your breath away. To
me and countless others this is an important motto for life. When my Papa Jim passed away, I was
taught to live by these words. When our journey is over the shiny new sports car, big houses or even
your social rank won t matter. The memories you made on your adventure of life will be the only thing
you and anyone else cares about. Papa Jim was the grandparent I took to the most on my Dad s side.
He the one who loved me like his own. My Grandmother took some time getting used to me given that
I wasn t her biological child and she didn t want to get attached for the fear of losing me. Whereas, the
first time I met Papa Jim he gave me a big hug and took me on his tractor to see his bunnies. No

The Values Of A College Is A Community College
A college is an educational institution where you earn the skill, the values, the education, the degree to
succeed in life. It may be a four year college, a community college or an institution that offers
vocational education. Now that you know how I define a college, I would like to explain the prompt
and my viewpoint. Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill, in their report published in 2013 by the
Brookings Institution, mention for certain schools, majors, occupations and individuals, a college may
not be a smart investment (page 209), to which I completely disagree. I will use the following
paragraphs to substantiate my viewpoint that, college indeed is a smart investment irrespective of the
occupations and majors, by citing examples, quotes, and some personal anecdotes. As John Stuart Mill
once said and I quote the objective of universities is not to make skillful lawyers, physicians, or
engineers, but capable and cultivated human beings . From the discussion in the class, we reached a
similar conclusion about how college plays an important role in our lives and enlisted reasons for
attending college. College presents a myriad of opportunities in terms of networking, for jobs. It helps
a person to grow into a skillful, well educated individual. It assists a person to

Evolution Of Ballet Essay
The Evolution of Ballet
Ballet is one of the first branches of artistic dance that originated several centuries ago. Since its
introduction, ballet has been influenced by many cultures and performers; moreover, because of
cultural and individual influences, ballet technique has been modified by different periods and styles,
such as the Renaissance period, the Romantic period and classic, as well as contemporary styles.
While dance has existed since almost the beginning human life, ballet was not introduced until the
fourteenth century in France. Ballet has spread to countries all around the world and each country has
contributed to ballet s development. Today, ballet continues to be a thriving performance art enjoyed
by many.

Women dancers were rapidly stealing the spotlight and men began to solely serve as lifters and
partners for the women. In the Romantic period, women shortened the lengths of their skirts to be
above their ankles, which at the time, was scandalous (Sydnor, Clayton, and Michelle Martin 4). It
was during this period that Marie Taglioni became the first ballerina to dance en pointe on her toes.
Marie was rejected by a Persian dance teacher because of her looks. As a result, Marie s father, Filippo
Taglioni, who came from a dancing family, became her instructor (Sanderson, Lisa Anne). Filippo was
the choreographer of La Sylphide, a famous classic ballet of the Romantic period, which was made to

light and airy dance style, along with soft, floating costumes to emphasize the dancer s body and

Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage
In the monumental 2015 Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges, the majority of the justices voted
that the right to marry is a fundamental right of the people, regardless of the gender of the two people
joining in matrimony. Although this current Supreme Court case is considered a landmark case for the
progression towards equality, this national debate pertaining to gay marriage has been going on since
the 1986 case of Bowers v. Hardwick, which altered a Georgia law to consider only the
constitutionality of applying the law to homosexual sodomy (Linder). The decision by this Supreme
Court reflects the decades of previous Supreme Court cases about the actual constitutionality of same
sex marriage as well as the ongoing debate between widely different viewpoints. Nevertheless, due to
the nature of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, specifically the Fourteenth Amendment, there is a
constitutional precedence for the decision to allow homosexual people to marry. In addition, the
history of cases about marriage and the recent Supreme Court case solidified the right for these people
to marry. As said by Justice Anthony Kennedy, No union is more profound than marriage, for it
embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family (Liptak). Because of the
nature and belief of the Fourteenth Amendment on equality and rights of a discriminated group of
people, the right for gay people to marry has rational and constitutional validations. According to

The Debate Over Embryonic Stem Cells
Over 100 million Americans suffer from diseases that eventually may be treated more effectively or
even cured with embryonic stem cell therapy. Some researchers regard this as the greatest potential for
the alleviation of human suffering since the advent of antibiotics (White). However, not everybody
agrees with this. While embryonic stem cells offer much hope for medical advancement because of
their ability to grow into almost any kind of cell, the moral debate of the destruction of an embryo
continues. Embryonic stem cells are taken directly from an embryo before the embryo s cells begin to
develop into their specific cells. While there may be promise of embryonic stem cells triggering
medical advancements, the ongoing controversy continues to hinder research. Embryonic stem cells
can be defined as blank cells that have not yet been categorized or programmed by the body, and can
be prompted to generate any of the 220 human cell types. (White). Because of this reason, these cells
are extremely flexible; in cancer treatment, cells destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation can be
replaced with new cells that adapt to any body tissue, whether it s in the heart, lungs, brain, etc. Dead
cells of almost any kind can be replaced with new stem cells. These stem cells are harvested when the
embryo is referred to as a blastocyst, which is what some consider when life begins which is also
where the controversy begins. Those who support embryonic stem cell research believe that

The European Union As A European Community
The European Union formed in 1956, firstly as a European Community until further expansion. The
Union was not the first attempt at European cooperation, but it has been the boldest in conception, the
most developed and the most successful, (Watts). With the first countries to join such as Belgium,
France, Germany, Italy and Holland, then many other countries joining for years after. It was formed
in search of mutual benefit between the European countries after the impact that World War II took on
Europe, and it created a huge benefit for Europe and its citizens, allowing travel to citizens freely
within Europe, but in recent years we have seen a surplus of people wanting to come to Europe.
While, the European Union has been a strong advantage for Europe, the open borders have become
out of control and the future does not look as promising.
With European countries allowing an open border, meaning anyone within Europe could travel and
live wherever they pleased was great for the people of Europe, but this now has made complications.

Indian Ocean Tsunami On the date of December 27, 2004 something happened that nobody could
have imagined. One of the most devastating earthquake erupted under the ocean as it happened near
the Sumatra Island. The earthquake took place 6.2 miles under the water. The earthquake had a high
magnitude of 9.0 on a Richter scale which triggered a massive tsunami. Tsunamis are specific in their
origins and result from larger earthquakes. The tsunami that was caused by an earthquake had an
impact on many people and caused a lot of destruction that had to be fixed. A few minutes after the
earthquake, the water rose and the tsunami changed the world forever. (1)
Tsunami is a Japanese word that means harbor wave . Tsunamis are giant sea waves caused by large

the tsunami was strong enough to crash into many other countries. The waves traveled all the distance
of the Indian Ocean. In addition to Indonesia, the tsunami had killed people in other countries such as

Agrippina The Younger Analysis
Julia Augusta Agrippina, or more commonly, Agrippina the Younger was a Roman empress consort
and one of the most distinguished women of the Julio Claudian dynasty. In her earlier years,
Agrippina, as well as her mother and older brother, were remorsly mistreated by Emperor Tiberius,
who was only a stepson of Augustus. She would have learned at her mother s knee to despise usurpers
who were not direct descendants of Augustus. Historians have long suspected that a childhood spent
steeped in fear and resentment may have driven Agrippina in her determination to rule rather than
suffer the whims of a ruler. Agrippina the Younger has been described by both ancient sources and
modern scholars as ruthless, aggressive, violent, and domineering. With ... Show more content on

Modern historians have suggested that Claudius ruled with far more effectiveness than the ancient
sources credit him, Suetonius speaks of his ruling as carefree and unstrategetic as commented by
Cassius Dio, Agrippina was adorned with various honors such as the title of Augusta appointed by
Claudius himself. During the reign of Claudius, Augustus was sometimes used as a name for men of
noble birth, making Agrippina the first living consort of a living emperor to receive such an honor as
well as one of the first women to challenge the social structure of Rome, thus giving Agrippina a role
of stature far beyond normally achievable. Being allowed the right to use the carpentum at festivals, as
well as other honors was an uncommon privilege that could only be given by the Senate, it represented
power and wealth that not many women could have. Agrippina s role during the reign of Claudius has
been described as influential and aspiring during such a traditional period in time. Claudius favored
her so, allowing her to take some rein in his politics and his ruling. It has been said that Claudius was
presented as having a sluggish uxoriousness according to Tacitus. Tacitus further suggests that under
Agrippina, Rome was transformed and it was confirmed that Agrippina ruled with an almost

Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in the Regency Period of England. The book
represents to the reader how females, marriage and social class were viewed at the time, as well as
demonstrates Austen s opinion on these matters in a somewhat satirical sense. The two marriage
proposals in the book towards the lead female character, Elizabeth Bennet, are put forth by Mr Collins
and Mr Darcy, both of whom exaggerate the social norms of the time; as women were not expected to
marry for love, but for financial gain, the terms for both proposals are focused more on the gains of
both the man and the woman rather than true feelings towards the affair. The ridiculed etiquette shows
how Austen held the rules of the time in low regard.
Both proposals comprise of snide comments on Elizabeth s social class and financial situation; Collins
remarks that Elizabeth will inherit only one thousand pounds in the four per cents, which will not be

This, as well as the fact that he inquired after her health is a contrast to the cold, manipulative
character of Mr Collins, who attempts to threaten Elizabeth into marrying him. Likewise, Darcy does
not react well to the rejection to his proposal, as his complexion became pale with anger , and
continues to insult Elizabeth, saying that she is not civil . Therefore, even though the beginning of the
two proposals differed dramatically, the denial of the proposal causes each male to react as if it was
Elizabeth s fault that they were rejected. This ties in to Austen s views of how men at the time were
taught that they could marry any girl if their offer was good enough; this, obviously, is not the case, as
Elizabeth cares more about her feelings than the technicalities of the marriage, and ridicules the
attitudes of men towards

The New Curriculum For The Foundation Stage
In 2008 the new curriculum for the foundation stage in wales began its roll out. Its aim was to bring
consistency and continuity to children s education, thus transforming early year s education in Wales.
The principles on which the curriculum is based are that children should be provided with a good basis
for future learning and the ability to apply their learning to everyday situations. Leighton Andrews, the
former education minister, said in an article on the Welsh Government website that the curriculum was
designed to allow all children to flourish whatever their stage of development or learning ability
(Andrews, 2010). The Framework for Children s Learning for 3 to 7 Year olds in Wales (here forth
known as The Framework ) outlines 7 key areas of learning. These are Personal and social
development, well being and cultural diversity , Language, literacy and communication skills ,
Mathematical development , Welsh language development , Knowledge and understanding of the
world , Physical development and Creative development . The curriculum focuses on holistic learning,
meaning that whilst there are 7 separate areas of learning, they are to be taught in a way which
entwines them together allowing for children to develop skills such as everyday problem solving by
understanding that mathematics is not merely a school subject but a skill which is used in everyday
life.

recorder played different sounds including humpback whale songs, low sawing sounds, and a truck
starting up and driving away. When one visited the Pavilion, they could experience the Robert Breer s
floats as they moved leisurely around the plaza. When the floats collided with an obstacle or were
intentionally pushed, they would reverse direction. The components of these floating islands could
only be activated with the participation of the public, the environment designed cannot exist or be
fully rationalized without the involvement of the visitor.
A walk through the Pepsi Pavilion reveals a white tunnel at the edge of the dome and it is at this point
where every visitor that walks in is handed a walkie talkie like handset that can pick sounds from
amplifiers under the floor. At the entrance, a tunnel descends into a clam shaped room which was dark
and lit only by mobile patterns of laser light. People first entered the pavilion through the Clam Room,
met by a laser deflection system which projected colors from a krypton laser. Lowell Cross designed
the psychedelic system which introduced visitors to the multimedia aspect of the Pavilion. In its
conception, Robert Whitman

Comparison Of Othello And Iago
A man cannot be too careful in the choice of his enemies. Oscar Wilde.
Othello and Iago. Dorothy and the Wicked Witch. Autobots and Decepticons. History and art are full
of heroes and their enemies. Tell us about the relationship between you and your arch nemesis (either
real or imagined).
Inspired by Martin Krzywy, admitted student Class of 2016.
Always there, either active for all to see or lurking in the shadows, my arch nemesis is the ball and
chain that slows me down. No matter how hard I work, how rigorously I pursue my ambitions, it
claws its way back to me eventually. Day and night I can attempt to flee from its grasp, but it is cold,
relentless and indefatigable. It limits me, is the mountain in front of my path that I have to ... Show

My heart leaps as it is obvious my opponent cannot reach it in time, but then it drops to the pit of my
stomach as the ball sails past the baseline. I hear my teammates groan behind me, and I grudgingly
walk up to the net and shake my contender s hand. The final score was 6 0. I did not win a single
game. Avoiding the eyes of my teammates and coach, I shove my racquet away along with my water
bottle and clothes, and slouch my way back towards the bus. On the drive back to school, I sat alone.
Staring out the window watching building upon building pass by, I felt empty inside. I thought that I
had practiced enough. All those hours of drills, scrimmages, and runs I had completed seemed useless
in that moment. As the bus pulled into the school s parking lot, I quickly got my possessions ready and
dashed off. The next day, I did not go to practice. Instead, I wallowed in my despair, pitying myself
and shutting everyone out. The weekend came, and I finally decided to go out for a run to let off some
steam. As my shoes pounded against the concrete, I found peace as the pent up anger and sadness
slipped away. I pass by a tennis court, and catch a glimpse my friends practicing inside. Stopping to
catch my breath, I watch as they worked nonstop on their form and positioning. All positive results
need effort first. I walked in and joined them. From that day on, I

The Choice Of Assisted Suicide
ed. For the immense number of ill patients, the solution to their suffering is predominately quality
sedative care, of which I ardently encourage. Though there are ill patients who seek sedative care,
there is a significant amount of terminally ill patients for whom palliative care is not the solution and
who suffer tremendously until they die. These are the type of patients who wish to end their suffering
by making the decision to end their lives with the assistance of doctors. This also allows them to end
their lives with dignity, and place of their choice. The only way to prevent suffering of this amount is
to revise the law so patients are allowed to lawfully receive assistance to peacefully pass away.
The acceptability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the minimum age is 18, the average age of female patients to whom PAS was administered
was 65 years old; for men, the average age was 62. For both men and women PAS was most
frequently performed in the age categories of 60 69 years and 70 79 years, and the demographics of
those who choose to administer assisted suicide is discretely towards those who are elderly. With this,
those who choose to end their life with dignity have lived long enough to make such a decision.
In places where assisted suicide is legal there is no evidence that the law is being abused, impotent
populations are being targeted, or that the patients are being constrained by physicians and or their
family members to choose this action. The right to die and to decide when life is no longer worth
living for is essential for human freedom, autarchy, and personal sovereignty. Neither the government
nor religious establishment should foist their own notions of ethics upon individuals who are not
harming others. A ban on physician assistance to suicide as applied to suit terminally ill patients who
wish to avoid the unendurable pain, substantially interferes with one s protected liberty interest and
cannot be sustained.

Municipal Roofing
Municipal Roofing
When it comes to commercial roofing, most manufacturers, consumer products companies, and
service providers stick to the same approach. While municipal roofing shares many of the same
characteristics and goals with these industries, many municipal buildings seek additional gravitas in
their buildings. A growing town s city hall or police department is not just where a place to conduct
business, it sends a message to residents and visitors alike demonstrating what the town aspires to be.

When designing busy, industrial buildings such as government warehouses, post offices, and other
practical buildings that require a great deal of infrastructure and machines, the best option may be to
go with a flat roof. A flat roof is allows a greater degree of flexibility in the future and can easily be
modified if future fixtures such as air conditioning units, ventilation, or other electronics need to be
installed.
On the other hand, deep slope roofs are more commonly found on residential homes. However, a deep
slope roof with a striking material such as slate or ceramic may provide the sort of elegant look that a
statehouse or courthouse demands. If your next construction project is going to be the sort of building
that is designed to make a statement and serve as a symbol for your town or city, a deep slope roof
with a rare roofing material may be your best bet.

National Anthem Protests
The National Anthem protests have been a major controversy in today s news and with the public. The
protests have caused violent outbreaks among some groups of people and created many problems.
These problems have divided the country and everyone has a different stance on this. Police brutality
is one of the main reasons these protests are occurring and it continues to happen everyday. Also,
veterans are becoming very offended by the people who do protest our country. President Trump has
also made very many comments about this issue including many about the NFL. The NFL has also
lost viewers and money because of the athletes kneeling for the anthem. Overall, the protests of the
national anthem are wrong and disrespectful towards our country and its veterans. The problems that
the protests are causing are becoming a major issue. There have been riots and people are getting very
offended by them. One example is the riots that happened in Baltimore, Maryland in the spring of
2015. The riot was caused by the treatment of Freddie Gray when he was arrested. The riot lasted over
two weeks and caused the city of Baltimore around $20 million. Not everyone riots because of police
brutality and kneeling for the anthem some respect people s decisions to do it and say they are
exercising the First Amendment which is freedom of speech. Veterans have stepped forward and said
how they are fine with people kneeling because they fought for their freedom and part of their
freedom is freedom

Scepticism In The Handmaids Tale
The Handmaid s Tale is a dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood from 1985, describing the totalitarian
theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead. It contains many elements associated with dystopian
stories, including misery, oppression and violence, to quite an extreme extent. Because of this, The
Handmaid s Tale has been banned in certain secondary schools in North America and Europe. The
novels stirred up reactions of disgust, anger and horror. However, according to Atwood, none of the
monstrosities in the book are new. I made a rule for myself: I would not include anything that human
beings had not already done in some other place or time, or for which the technology did not already
exist. (...) all had precedents, and many were to be found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gileadean leaders demand Handmaid s to be in good condition, in order to give birth to a strong
and healthy next generation. This shows through the limitations and requirements in the Handmaid s
nutrition and the obligatory examinations by doctors. A student nowadays is not familiar with the
close monitoring of offspring portrayed in the book. This reader is used to a society where everybody
is allowed to have children, regardless of their condition and without having to worrying about the
genes they pass on. For this reason, the reader might be shocked by the power exercised by the
Gileadean government in terms of offspring. The Nazi ideology, however, includes the striving for one
strong race, too. In the case of The Handmaid s Tale, the focus on offspring is mostly a result of low
reproduction rates, whereas the Nazi regime based it on its ideas of superiority of the Aryan race over
others. Though the justification differs, the Nazi reader is still probably more accepting and
understanding towards this part of the novel. In short, the Dutch student might consider the monitoring
of good offspring more shocking and inhumane than the Nazi

Religion and Prayer Must Not be Permitted in Public...
Early American colonists anticipated a country full of freedoms and opportunities. As the new
government was beginning to develop, the Founders took into consideration the restrictions placed on
them and their fellow immigrants in their former home lands. One difficulty the colonists encountered
back in Europe was the inability to practice a desired religion or not to practice one at all. Since the
newly formed country was made up of people from more than one religious background, the
government had to come up with a way to accommodate all of its citizens. Understanding the country
s diversity, the writers of the Constitution of the United States of America included in the First
Amendment the words, Congress shall make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment protects the citizens from being influenced or
offended by government sponsor ed religion, prayer in the public school system is intolerable.
Accordingly, the idea of secularism was first proposed by James Madison in the religion clauses,
because he wanted to avoid any sort of political influence on religious institutions (Alley 1 8). As a
result of Madison s initiation of the concept of secularism, the role of religion in government
institutions such as schools is now considered unconstitutional.
In defiance to the Court s separation of church and state ruling, many public school districts persist to
support the exercise of prayer. Numerous cases have arisen reflecting the opposing views on the role
of prayer, including the 1962 precedent setting court case Engel v. Vitale. The debate occurred because
the children of a New York public school district were required to recite the following lines every
morning: Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee, and we beg t hey blessing upon
us, our parents, our teachers and our country (Sikorski xi). In response, the Supreme Court
immediately reprimanded the school system by declaring the act unconstitutional and banning the
prayer. The school and other advocates ar gued that the prayer was nondenominational and should

Persuasive Essay On Recycling
With the rapidly increasing use of plastic, aluminum, and paper materials, it only makes sense that the
problem we chose to focus on is recycling. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic
for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn t been done before is difficult, that
would be an understatement. As any group of well educated engineers would, we started our journey
at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of
our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we
thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn t just about us getting a patented
idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is
one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That
was recycling.
Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem
area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else
had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming
up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to
find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and
even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from
recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors.
With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it
was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by
some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a
plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever
recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow,
torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong
enough to shred even

  • 2. The Importance Of Special Needs In Special Education I am currently teaching a practicum where my students (who are actually teachers getting their master s degree in special education) are teaching students with special needs. Some of these teachers are encountering students with autism for the first time and have felt some anxiety about this so they asked for some ideas and strategies to help them in the classroom. These are some of the suggestions that I have given them that I have used in the classroom successfully. 1. Use Task Analysis very specific, tasks in sequential order. 2. Always keep your language simple and concrete. Get your point across in as few words as possible. Typically, it s far more effective to say Pens down, close your journal and line up to go outside than It looks so nice outside. Let s do our science lesson now. As soon as you ve finished your writing, close your books and line up at the door. We re going to study plants outdoors today . 3. Teach specific social rules/skills, such as turn taking and social distance. 4. Give fewer choices. If a child is asked to pick a color, say red, only give him two to three choices to pick from. The more choices, the more confused an autistic child will become. 5. If you ask a question or give an instruction and are greeted with a blank stare, reword your sentence. Asking a student what you just said helps clarify that you ve been understood. 6. Avoid using sarcasm. If a student accidentally knocks all your papers on the floor and you say Great! you ... • 3. Identify His Strengths and Error Pattern Identify his strengths and error pattern. Describe why you think that way. He is excellent in his addition skills. He understands how to add numbers together, but he is just confused about this set up of addition. His error pattern is that if he has a two digit number in the first column he will put both numbers in the answer instead of the number in the ones place. For example, in the first problem he adds 6 + 7 correctly (13) but he puts both the ones and the tens in the answer. Then he brings down the 1 instead of what it should have been 1 + 1 (2) to make the answer 23. He follows this same pattern in problems 4, 5, 7, and 8 as well. In the third problem he adds the tens digits first 3 + 8 (11) and puts one 1 in the answer and the other 1 over the ones place. Then adds 5 + 1 + 1 (7) instead of adding 5 + 1 (6) and 3 + 8 (11) making the answer 116. He follows this pattern with number six too. 2)How would you respond to John? Design a mathematics activity to use with this child in addressing his errors. In your intervention, use concrete materials such as base ten blocks including a place value chart. Briefly describe what questions you would use in accordance with the activity. I would tell him that he is on the right track with his addition skills! There is a common error that he keeps making, but we can work on it and easily fix it! I would provide a lot of practice for him to correct this error. I believe in one problem he added from the tens place before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summer Holidays Summary The article, Should children study in the summer holidays? (Jackson, 2017) discusses the pros and cons of continuing a child s education throughout their summer vacation. In favor of this idea was Vivien Stiles, a professional tutor for Kumon, who argued that studying over the summer would help children ease back into a full school year. Stiles continued to explain the program as a two day school week which teaches Mathematics and English. The average time it takes for each student to complete their homework for their class is between 15 and 90 minutes. Others, like Tanith Carey, fear that extending classroom education into the summer may overwhelm some young minds. She explained how her daughter felt so overwhelmed by her education experience she tried to deny an award she won because there was too much that surrounded the acceptance of that award. Once Carey realized how much stress the extra schooling during the summer was causing her daughter, she removed her from the tutoring program so she could play and experience a stress free childhood. Over years the results have been quite positive for Carey and her two daughters as they have both found passions in the arts and are leading healthy happy lives. She stresses the importance of learning not only in classrooms, but through nature, exploring, and experiencing the natural environment around them. According to Carey some parents are overlooking how much their children really learn when they are able to explore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Relational Database Research Paper Bookstores Relational Database Design A relational database is designed to comply with a term called normalization. Normalization is a process of organizing tables to minimize the redundancy in the database. The design of a relational database decreases the amount of space the database uses in a system. The relational database uses fields to help reduce redundancy in the tables. Relational designed database use the relational value in fields, an example would be a field for Book_ISBN and a field with Title_ISBN, could be limited to just one field naming the ISBN (Safari). If the book store does not have experience building a relational database they should (call an expert) practice with sample data to identify any problems in the initial design. Once they have all the problems worked out, the bookstore can move onto building their real database. At first a list of books will have to be compiled. This list would contain the title of the book, the authors name, the ISBN and category which would denote the field name for each column for the database. The domain controls the value that can be used in each column identifying the list of books. Using the sample table will allow the bookstore to test and create ways in which the data can be stored, manipulated and queried, called data cleanup. An example would be how ... • 6. Difference Between Command Economy And Free Market Economy INTRODUCTION OVERVIEW The major difference between command economy and free market economy is the degree of government intervention and the reliance of market to determine prices (Cherunilam, 2009). Command market is the system in which the market is centrally controlled and regulated by the government; free market economy is the system demand and supply determine the market prices and regulations. However, mixed economy is a combination of Command and Free market economy (Bogolib, 2013); the market price is determined by demand and supply but the government intervenes to ensure stability and economic growth. This intervention has a major impact in the position of an economy in the business cycle. This report evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of England being a mixed economy, and shows how the government intervenes in the market. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The essay is fo ENGLAND S MIXED ECONOMY With mixed economy there is always a variation to the degree of government intervention in different countries. In England, where the mixed economy is utilized, there is a strong presence of both the private and public sector. For instance, the grocery sector is controlled by the market; However resources are allocated in the health sector by the government (Higson, 2011). Although there is a distinct private sector, the system allows the government to exert control over the operations of businesses in the private sector to achieve economic balance and stability (Barras, ... But in terms of anthropology, culture is the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another (www.dictionary.com). Culture is learned, it is passed on from many generations. What is gender? Gender is either the male or female division of a species, especially as differentiated by social and cultural roles and behavior. However, gender plays a big role in culture all around the world. In this analysis essay I will be analyzing how males and females are raised with differences in third world countries compared to the western culture of the United States. What are the roles that males and females have? In countries such as India, Pakistan, China, there is still a lot of controversy about how a male and female should be treated. It has a lot to do with culture and tradition. Some of these cultural traits have been passed down from generations and are still around which some people follow. Some may consider it double standards and others may think that it is the norm. So how is gender related to culture? In society it is expected that the women and men behave a certain way. The gender disparities are shaped and formed by culture. It is better explained by Jyotirmaya Tripathy who wrote the article How Gendered is Gendered Development? When these children are put to the task of picking teams they will pick by who they like, who will help the team win, or who they have a crush on. Inevitably there will be that dreaded one who is picked last. This is North Cyprus the last to be picked but better yet they were only picked by one country and that is Turkey. For North Cyprus to get any good in the world the goods have to go through Turkey. Since then it has raised the concerns for lower class families who did not attend good universities and their children wanted to attend but ended up not getting admission. • 11. Stereotypes In Yellow Face The satirical play Yellow Face by Jeff Liu exposed the racism toward Asian Americans in the United States. Yellow Face began as a reaction to the casting of a Caucasian as an Asian role in the Broadway play M. Butterfly but unraveled to be a challenge of the status quo and stereotypes. In the play, almost all the actors were cast to represent multiple characters, but I was mostly impressed by the performances of the father Sab Shimono since he added an emotional appeal, the protagonist of the play, Ryan Yu, due to his alert reactions, and Christopher Gorham through his emphasis on his role as an Asian. Yu was at his desk already a little drunk and as he spoke with his father he portrayed a guilty voice and in the scene he also took some pills. By having this conversation in midst of the night, and by mixing pills with alcohol, all of these small gestures revealed his distraught composer and his stressful temperament. Throughout this whole scene, Yu acted confused and angered, which were all shown through his facial response and his tense body language as he bit his nails and continually spilled out new details to corroborate his story of Gorham with a shaky voice in hope to cover his mistake. • 12. Face Everything And Rise Face Everything And Rise Strength (n.) ~ the quality or state of being strong. Life pushes us to be our best through the many tests and trials. These trials teach us lessons, along with making us stronger. Each and everyone s tests are different. Such as peer pressure, problems with self image or even learning how to carry on after a loved one has passed. During the Autumn of seventh grade my Grandfather passed away and even though I m sad about this it s made me stronger. It was a hard test, but without the lessons I learned I wouldn t be who I am today. In the end the term oil we face is worthwhile. It s not the breaths you take that matter, but the moments that take your breath away. To me and countless others this is an important motto for life. When my Papa Jim passed away, I was taught to live by these words. When our journey is over the shiny new sports car, big houses or even your social rank won t matter. The memories you made on your adventure of life will be the only thing you and anyone else cares about. Papa Jim was the grandparent I took to the most on my Dad s side. He the one who loved me like his own. My Grandmother took some time getting used to me given that I wasn t her biological child and she didn t want to get attached for the fear of losing me. Whereas, the first time I met Papa Jim he gave me a big hug and took me on his tractor to see his bunnies. No matter what I was going to be his granddaughter. This memory will be something that ... It may be a four year college, a community college or an institution that offers vocational education. Now that you know how I define a college, I would like to explain the prompt and my viewpoint. Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill, in their report published in 2013 by the Brookings Institution, mention for certain schools, majors, occupations and individuals, a college may not be a smart investment (page 209), to which I completely disagree. I will use the following paragraphs to substantiate my viewpoint that, college indeed is a smart investment irrespective of the occupations and majors, by citing examples, quotes, and some personal anecdotes. As John Stuart Mill once said and I quote the objective of universities is not to make skillful lawyers, physicians, or engineers, but capable and cultivated human beings . From the discussion in the class, we reached a similar conclusion about how college plays an important role in our lives and enlisted reasons for attending college. Since its introduction, ballet has been influenced by many cultures and performers; moreover, because of cultural and individual influences, ballet technique has been modified by different periods and styles, such as the Renaissance period, the Romantic period and classic, as well as contemporary styles. While dance has existed since almost the beginning human life, ballet was not introduced until the fourteenth century in France. It was during this period that Marie Taglioni became the first ballerina to dance en pointe on her toes. Marie was rejected by a Persian dance teacher because of her looks. As a result, Marie s father, Filippo Taglioni, who came from a dancing family, became her instructor (Sanderson, Lisa Anne). Filippo was the choreographer of La Sylphide, a famous classic ballet of the Romantic period, which was made to feature Marie (Marie Taglioni: The Instant Ballerina). • 15. Persuasive Essay On Gay Marriage In the monumental 2015 Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges, the majority of the justices voted that the right to marry is a fundamental right of the people, regardless of the gender of the two people joining in matrimony. Although this current Supreme Court case is considered a landmark case for the progression towards equality, this national debate pertaining to gay marriage has been going on since the 1986 case of Bowers v. Hardwick, which altered a Georgia law to consider only the constitutionality of applying the law to homosexual sodomy (Linder). The decision by this Supreme Court reflects the decades of previous Supreme Court cases about the actual constitutionality of same sex marriage as well as the ongoing debate between widely different viewpoints. Nevertheless, due to the nature of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, specifically the Fourteenth Amendment, there is a constitutional precedence for the decision to allow homosexual people to marry. In addition, the history of cases about marriage and the recent Supreme Court case solidified the right for these people to marry. As said by Justice Anthony Kennedy, No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family (Liptak). Because of the nature and belief of the Fourteenth Amendment on equality and rights of a discriminated group of people, the right for gay people to marry has rational and constitutional validations. Some researchers regard this as the greatest potential for the alleviation of human suffering since the advent of antibiotics (White). However, not everybody agrees with this. While embryonic stem cells offer much hope for medical advancement because of their ability to grow into almost any kind of cell, the moral debate of the destruction of an embryo continues. Embryonic stem cells are taken directly from an embryo before the embryo s cells begin to develop into their specific cells. While there may be promise of embryonic stem cells triggering medical advancements, the ongoing controversy continues to hinder research. Embryonic stem cells can be defined as blank cells that have not yet been categorized or programmed by the body, and can be prompted to generate any of the 220 human cell types. (White). Because of this reason, these cells are extremely flexible; in cancer treatment, cells destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation can be replaced with new cells that adapt to any body tissue, whether it s in the heart, lungs, brain, etc. Dead cells of almost any kind can be replaced with new stem cells. These stem cells are harvested when the embryo is referred to as a blastocyst, which is what some consider when life begins which is also where the controversy begins. Those who support embryonic stem cell research believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Union was not the first attempt at European cooperation, but it has been the boldest in conception, the most developed and the most successful, (Watts). With the first countries to join such as Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Holland, then many other countries joining for years after. It was formed in search of mutual benefit between the European countries after the impact that World War II took on Europe, and it created a huge benefit for Europe and its citizens, allowing travel to citizens freely within Europe, but in recent years we have seen a surplus of people wanting to come to Europe. While, the European Union has been a strong advantage for Europe, the open borders have become out of control and the future does not look as promising. With European countries allowing an open border, meaning anyone within Europe could travel and live wherever they pleased was great for the people of Europe, but this now has made complications. Since 2011, an estimated 200,000 Syrians have died from the conflict within their borders, and close to half of the country s residents have been uprooted. • 20. Agrippina The Younger Analysis Julia Augusta Agrippina, or more commonly, Agrippina the Younger was a Roman empress consort and one of the most distinguished women of the Julio Claudian dynasty. In her earlier years, Agrippina, as well as her mother and older brother, were remorsly mistreated by Emperor Tiberius, who was only a stepson of Augustus. She would have learned at her mother s knee to despise usurpers who were not direct descendants of Augustus. Historians have long suspected that a childhood spent steeped in fear and resentment may have driven Agrippina in her determination to rule rather than suffer the whims of a ruler. Agrippina the Younger has been described by both ancient sources and modern scholars as ruthless, aggressive, violent, and domineering. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modern historians have suggested that Claudius ruled with far more effectiveness than the ancient sources credit him, Suetonius speaks of his ruling as carefree and unstrategetic as commented by Cassius Dio, Agrippina was adorned with various honors such as the title of Augusta appointed by Claudius himself. During the reign of Claudius, Augustus was sometimes used as a name for men of noble birth, making Agrippina the first living consort of a living emperor to receive such an honor as well as one of the first women to challenge the social structure of Rome, thus giving Agrippina a role of stature far beyond normally achievable. Being allowed the right to use the carpentum at festivals, as well as other honors was an uncommon privilege that could only be given by the Senate, it represented power and wealth that not many women could have. Agrippina s role during the reign of Claudius has been described as influential and aspiring during such a traditional period in time. Claudius favored her so, allowing her to take some rein in his politics and his ruling. It has been said that Claudius was presented as having a sluggish uxoriousness according to Tacitus. Tacitus further suggests that under Agrippina, Rome was transformed and it was confirmed that Agrippina ruled with an almost masculine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in the Regency Period of England. The book represents to the reader how females, marriage and social class were viewed at the time, as well as demonstrates Austen s opinion on these matters in a somewhat satirical sense. The two marriage proposals in the book towards the lead female character, Elizabeth Bennet, are put forth by Mr Collins and Mr Darcy, both of whom exaggerate the social norms of the time; as women were not expected to marry for love, but for financial gain, the terms for both proposals are focused more on the gains of both the man and the woman rather than true feelings towards the affair. The ridiculed etiquette shows how Austen held the rules of the time in low regard. Both proposals comprise of snide comments on Elizabeth s social class and financial situation; Collins remarks that Elizabeth will inherit only one thousand pounds in the four per cents, which will not be yours till after your ... This, as well as the fact that he inquired after her health is a contrast to the cold, manipulative character of Mr Collins, who attempts to threaten Elizabeth into marrying him. Likewise, Darcy does not react well to the rejection to his proposal, as his complexion became pale with anger , and continues to insult Elizabeth, saying that she is not civil . Therefore, even though the beginning of the two proposals differed dramatically, the denial of the proposal causes each male to react as if it was Elizabeth s fault that they were rejected. This ties in to Austen s views of how men at the time were taught that they could marry any girl if their offer was good enough; this, obviously, is not the case, as Elizabeth cares more about her feelings than the technicalities of the marriage, and ridicules the attitudes of men towards ... Its aim was to bring consistency and continuity to children s education, thus transforming early year s education in Wales. The principles on which the curriculum is based are that children should be provided with a good basis for future learning and the ability to apply their learning to everyday situations. Leighton Andrews, the former education minister, said in an article on the Welsh Government website that the curriculum was designed to allow all children to flourish whatever their stage of development or learning ability (Andrews, 2010). The Framework for Children s Learning for 3 to 7 Year olds in Wales (here forth known as The Framework ) outlines 7 key areas of learning. These are Personal and social development, well being and cultural diversity , Language, literacy and communication skills , Mathematical development , Welsh language development , Knowledge and understanding of the world , Physical development and Creative development . The curriculum focuses on holistic learning, meaning that whilst there are 7 separate areas of learning, they are to be taught in a way which entwines them together allowing for children to develop skills such as everyday problem solving by understanding that mathematics is not merely a school subject but a skill which is used in everyday life. Robert Breer designed the floats with the unique ability to be moved around while emitting sound. The sound was emitted from a battery operated tape recorder that was placed inside each float. The recorder played different sounds including humpback whale songs, low sawing sounds, and a truck starting up and driving away. When one visited the Pavilion, they could experience the Robert Breer s floats as they moved leisurely around the plaza. When the floats collided with an obstacle or were intentionally pushed, they would reverse direction. The components of these floating islands could only be activated with the participation of the public, the environment designed cannot exist or be fully rationalized without the involvement of the visitor. • 33. Persuasive Essay On Recycling With the rapidly increasing use of plastic, aluminum, and paper materials, it only makes sense that the problem we chose to focus on is recycling. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn t been done before is difficult, that would be an understatement. As any group of well educated engineers would, we started our journey at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn t just about us getting a patented idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That was recycling. Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors. With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow, torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong enough to shred even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
