The Effects Of Environmental Stress On Cell Membranes
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was to indirectly study the effects of environmental stress on cell
membranes. Watercourses have been with discarding of domestic and manufacturing, for centuries.
Alarms have only escalated about the ecological alterations in the recent years of what would be the
consequences. Scientists have developed a thorough investigation in search of various man harmful
waste that is damaging the environment of watercourses.
The cell membranes are the utmost essential organelle that surrounds all living cells. Its purpose is to
control what goes in and out of the cells and is accountable for the various other properties of the cells
as well. The nucleus and other organelles also have membranes that are practically indistinguishable.
Membranes are organised in a mosaic arrangement, comprised of carbohydrates, proteins and
phospholipids. This can be seen in Figure 1. The objective of this indirect examination is to study the
causes of various solvents and conducts on live beetroot cells. The reason why beetroot cells have
been selected for this experiment is because they have a big membrane bound central vacuole, as seen
in Figure 2. The red colour anthocyanin, which provides the beetroot its bright colour is located in the
vacuole. The cell membrane encloses the whole beetroot cell. The anthocyanin cannot leak out if the
membranes stay unharmed. The red colour can escape if the membranes are hassled or broken.

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mining
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term of mining is the process or business of digging
in mines to obtain minerals, metals, jewels, etc. Of course, that s not just it, mining is a really complex
business, it consists in a lot of things, for example; the application of metallurgical techniques. First
off, What is metallurgy and what are some metallurgical techniques? Accoring to kids.britannica.com
Metallurgy is separating metals from their ores, purifying and working the metals into usable forms,
and understanding the physical nature of metals and their alloys. The techniques used in metallurgy

Creative Writing Is Not A Stranger
Creative writing is not a stranger to the classroom. It s more like a third cousin you see at family
reunions. Unfortunately, creative writing is not seen as a beneficial skill students need to learn.
Instead, it is used for elective classes or to fulfill a small section of a language arts standard. Creative
writing provides more than entertainment, it provides skills, which [students] have acquired in their
pursuit of a fictional character, will serve them equally well in their pursuit of subjects for expository,
persuasive, and analytic essays (Anderson, 47). This genre of writing requires creativity, curiosity, and
technical skills. Creative writing is detrimental to the progression of students writing ability. Teaching
creative writing is not as simple as letting students explore their imaginations, Peterson (2014) and
Crumey (2012) both suggest prior knowledge plays a significant role in the creative writing process. It
has been widely said a writer should, write what they know. This sentiment is often shared as a nugget
of wisdom to aspiring writers or those struggling from writer s block. Peterson (2014) says, young
writers should be passionate about what [they] do. Passion drives the best storytelling (500). Crumey s
(2012) argument is that to become a better writer, you need to be well read and you need to write. He
emphasizes this with a quote by Stephen King: You ve got to read a lot and write a lot (114). Crumey
(2012) explains the difference between

Essay On Credit Score
One may decide to pay cash for everything but, there are reasons to focus on obtaining and keeping a
good credit score. The first step toward understanding how credit affects ones life is to check the
credit standing. One can get two of their credit scores for free on Credit.com. This completely free tool
will break down the credit score into sections and give a grade for each. For example, how is the
payment history, debt and other factors affecting your score, and get recommendations for steps that
can be taken to improve ones credit. It is possible to get a free annual credit report from each of the
major credit reporting agencies Equifax, Experian and TransUnion once every 12 months. This does

This is known as a hard inquiry, and it usually knocks a few points from the credit score.
Bad credit reports can affect ones life in several negative ways. With a bad credit report and a low
credit score, it is harder to receive a credit card, an automobile loan, a mortgage, or possibly a job. It is
important that one is always aware of the credit decisions made. Paying bills late, maxing out credit
cards, and filling out too many credit applications in a brief period will also have a negative impact on
the credit report. To keep a good credit report, one should pay bills on time and apply for credit
sparingly. Last, but certainly not least, one should check their credit report annually! A free credit
report is available from each of the three credit reporting agencies each year. This is something one
should take advantage of since it will help them judge whether they are managing their credit wisely.
It is imperative that one keeps a good credit score. If not, one could miss out on many opportunities.
For example, one may find an opening for their dream job that they are qualified for, but the negative
credit report causes them to not get the job. Do not let this happen! Maintain a good credit report and
opportunities like this will not pass by!
People have become increasingly dependent on credit. Therefore, it s crucial that one understands

Still Water Case Study
The beautiful town of Stillwater is located on the St. Croix river in the St. Croix River Valley and is
known as the Birthplace of Minnesota. The early days of Stillwater were uncertain and uneasy as the
land was fought over for many years. The coveted land transitioned from being part of Wisconsin
territory to being included in Washington county in 1938. All the while, lumbering interests drew
many to the area and white settlers took up residence in Stillwater. One former soldier, Indian trader,
Justice of the Peace and promoter, Joseph Renshaw Brown had been in the area since 1820. He had set
up a store and farm at Grey Cloud Island and kept a warehouse at the head of Lake St. Croix to supply
upriver fur trading operations. This warehouse, which was located where North Stillwater stands
today, grew into a small village that he called Dacotah . In 1840 the first ferry was licensed to operate
across the St. Croix. In 1841, Joseph Brown s family traveled from Chicago to join him in his new

Lowe s Argumentative Essay
Thank you for taking the time to listen to my complaints and for performing a walk through at the
project site. As I mentioned during our phone conversation, on August 2014, Carmen Alfonso entered
into a contract with Lowe s to renovate two bathrooms at 14817 SW 175th Street, Miami, Florida
33187 Unfortunately, I m disappointed with how long it has taken Lowe s to complete the renovation
and furthermore all the setbacks encountered. The renovation commenced 2 years 6 months ago, four
different contract companies and there are still outstanding issues, including but not limited to a water
leak located in the small bathroom. On February 2015, shortly after the tiles were installed, brown
stains randomly began appearing on the floor grout. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the brown stain resurfaced two more times and remediated two more times. Obviously,
this issue was not the result of a chemical reaction as initially concluded by GC # 1 and 2, but
something more profound. When the fourth GC (Jerson) was onboarded to remediate the outstanding
issues, the brown stain issue was one of the items on the punch list. During the initial walk though,
Jerson removed the grout that had the brown stain and found evidence of water on the cement
underneath the tile. On January 3, 2017 the contractors removed the toilet and ripped out several floor
tiles with the intent of identifying water leak. Once the area was exposed the leak was not apparent
and therefore required a more in depth research according to the GC perhaps breaking the floor to
again access to the pipes thus, requiring Lowe s approval before proceeding. The GC informed me that
he would meet with Lowe s to propose his recommendations and that I should hear back from them in
the next couple of day. On January 9th, as I waited to hear back from Lowe s regarding the next steps
the contactors arrived at the house unannounced to install the

Auction Research Paper
Professional Tips for Buying a Home at an Auction
Buying a home is one of the most stressful times in your life. After all, a house is probably the biggest
investment you will make in your lifetime. Buying a home at an auction comes with more stress
because the stakes are higher and going to house auctions are out of the comfort zone for most people.
However, you don t have to go into the process feeling like you re out of your comfort zone, or
beyond your depth. The following will discuss the tips that experts use at house auctions so you can
feel comfortable and confident and handle it like the pros.

Check out the auction clearing rates in the region where you plan to buy a home at an auction.
Part of knowing the market means knowing the true value of the houses and properties in a given state
or suburb. It s simple enough to do this research. You can look at what s sold and for how much online
in most cases, but getting to know local real estate agents gives you a bigger advantage in that respect.
Make your bid clearly known
When you are making your bid on the house, say it loudly and state the full amount you wish to offer
every time you make a bid on the house. This reinforces the amount you want to pay for yourself, the
auctioneer, and for the other bidders and establishes confidence in your bid. It s important to make
your intentions clear to everyone there.
Once bidders know you are a serious bidder, some will be knocked out of the competition because
they are bargain hunters who don t want to pay more than they have to pay for a house. These auction
attendees are often knocked out relatively early in the process. You ll see them leave when the bids
start going up.
Make the first bid or not
Some people think that making the first bid is taboo. Many experts will tell you not to make the first
bid at a house auction, but that shouldn t be a concern. You may as well be the first bidder.
Professional auctioneers, like Graeme Hennessy say that there is a better chance that you ll stay

The Argument Against The Treaty Of Versailles
For proof that the Treaty of Versailles had a large effect on the advent of a second European war, we
needn t look further than the advent of Hitler and the National Socialist Party in Germany. In his rise
to power, Hitler stood firmly against the Treaty of Versailles and promised to upend and overturn
almost everything relating to it. He called its signing, the greatest villainy of the century. He pointed to
major punishments that the Treaty of Versailles enacted: the war guilt clause, the dissolution of
German colonies and partitioning of German border regions, and the limitation of the German army,
and propelled himself into power and later into war. By voting for Hitler, the German population was,
by proxy, voting against the Treaty of Versailles.
The Treaty of Versailles emasculated the previously strong Germany military; the Reichswehr was
limited to only 100,000 men, the creation of an air force was prohibited, the Rhineland was to be
demilitarized, and the navy was shrunk. The German people did not receive this well. Having ... Show

This clause laid out that Germany was responsible for the advent of the First World War and that they
should be culpable for the damages done to the allied nations, therefore, pay reparations. To have been
singled out as solely morally and financially responsible, while there were many other countries
involved enraged the German government and people. The Weimar government was now faced with
the task of paying reparations, which amounted to nearly thirty three billion USD. The Weimar
government could not meet this demand without printing money, which naturally caused the value of
the German Mark to inflate. This put many Germans into poverty and contribute largely to the
hyperinflation that plagued Weimar in the early 1930s. The constant struggle of the Germans in

Scottsboro Trial In To Kill A Mockingbird
Ever since the inception of slavery in the United States, white families have falsely accused black men
of rape in order to gain power and demonize their slaves. Rape has been used by white men in order to
gain and keep power since the beginnings of their supremacy (Haynes 1). This is true for both actual
rape and false rape accusations, as assault takes away a victim s power and a false accusation takes
away that of the accused. As such, white families have accused men, specifically black men, of raping
the white women in their communities and families for centuries. Almost all of these cases resulted in
the death of the defendant, either by lynching (the illegal murder of a marginalized person) or the
death penalty. Of these deaths, 66% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to a centuries old racial tension in this part of the country. Subsequently, it is also the
setting for To Kill A Mockingbird. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses the trial of Tom
Robinson to showcase how false rape accusations such as the trial of Pleasant, a slave, and the
Scottsboro trials were used as power plays by white families against black men.
In the case of Tom Robinson, Mayella and Bob Ewell used rape accusations in order to obtain power
and control over Tom and the black community of Maycomb, Alabama. Mayella claims that Tom
choked and beat her with his left hand and proceeded to rape her until her father returned home.
However, Tom s left arm was fully twelve inches shorter than his right, and hung dead at his side (Lee
248). This reveals that her story about him beating her could not have been true. The use of the word
dead is an indication that he has no control whatsoever over his hand. As his left hand was useless,
Tom could not have caused bruising to the right side of her face. Even after her story was disproven,
Tom was found guilty, largely due to the fact that his jury was comprised of white farmers and not of
his peers. According to Scout

A man who thinks that he is only wise, that he can speak and think like no one else, when such men
are exposed, then all can see their emptiness inside. (Lines 802 805) Haemon says this to his father
meaning a man of his kind is only going to be seen as a failure from words when their true self is
exposed. Haemon s words, actions, and ideas contrast with Creon s character to the point of these two
characters having conflicting motivations. These conflicting motivations cause the characteristics of

We see evidence from the text when Creon says, alas for me, the guilt for all this is mine it can never
be removed from me or passed to any other mortal man. (Lines 1463 1465) This evidence supports my
claim because Creon obviously sees how that the tragic incident was caused upon him. However, it
won t ever go away. He knows he has to live with it for as long as he s living. As a final point, Creon
is a tragic hero because he witnesses his mistakes he made. He actually takes it as a man and doesn t
blame others for his actions. His actions towards his son drove him to do what he did. Haemon wanted
to be with his wife, the love of his life. Creon didn t want him in any part of that. He felt the need that
Haemon s wife should be punished. When Creon tells Haemon his thoughts about his wife, Haemon

a technology created to make people s lives better, allowing the public to express themselves, share
their thoughts, and connect with old friends without effort. However society, as with all technology,
has found negative ways to misuse the internet. In Kiki Kannibal: The Girl Who Played With Fire

Replacing or suspending the new innovations that scientists are making or have made in the past is
inconceivable, however, society can create an Online Crime Prevention Organization (OCPO) to
monitor the internet. In Kiki Kannibal, one of her major threats was her cyber bullies; she was
constantly tormented and persecuted by strangers online. Kiki was also unable to defend herself or
validate her offenders; she had no help from law enforcement, adults around her, and there was
nothing or no one she could go to with the abuse which made her bullies invincible while Kiki and her
family were left helpless. Erdely mentions in her essay that Kiki fought back by embracing her
outsider status, chopping her long hair and dyeing it pink. She remade herself into a scene queen,

the OCPO, anyone who believes that a person is practicing criminal activities such as cyber bullying,

will then begin to investigate the person s online history. With restrictions, the

Essay on Argument for Legalization of Marijuana
Marijuana has become one of the most controversial drugs in America. Ever since its cultivation
began around 1611, marijuana has puzzled people with its effects. Many question marijuana?s
classification as a schedule one drug. A schedule one drug is one that has a high potential for abuse
and no medicinal value. Some argue that the war on drugs, in particular marijuana, has cost taxpayers
billions and is wasting funds that could be used on more important tasks such as improving
transportation or education. As drug arrests rise, so do the populations in state prisons. This has
become an immediate problem with no real solution. The legalization of possessing small amounts of

My Views Of Marriage, Family, And Personal Life
At the beginning of the semester we learned the basis of what makes Christianity, the Trinity. After
reviewing and understanding the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost we looked at how each three of
these entities were reflected in the relationships of mankind; from marriage, to family, to vocation.
With a deeper understanding of these concepts I have had an alteration and growth in my worldview
in the way in which I should be living my life. In this paper I will discuss deciphering my calling, my
views of marriage, family, and personal life direct my thought process. I will also discuss how they are
being implemented in a way that allows me to share the teachings of the Lord with others in my daily
life. As mentioned in the previous lecture we are all born for a purpose, and this purpose is considered
to be our calling. There are basic callings that we all have as Christians, such as getting married,
starting a family, and pronouncing our faith in Jesus. But there are callings that are specific to each
one of us, one of which is our choice of employment. When it comes to obtaining a career it is
important that you choose the one God has established for you not what you have set for yourself; I
can personally attest to this. Growing up I planned to be a specialized pediatric surgeon, mainly
because my parents directed down the path to become a doctor. After completing three years at the

The Great Gatsby was taken place in the roaring 20s, even though alcohol was illegal, the wealthy

crime is illegal behavior that is planned and carried out by groups of people in a very systematic
fashion. Also, there was the Mafia and they were involved with bootlegging, drug trafficking and
messing with New York s industries. New York is known for being a big and hectic city which never
sleeps. In New York there is the rich and poor, but in this book they show us how it is and feels to be
rich there during the 20s. Throughout The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald shows us the advantages with
being rich is actually a disadvantage by how they can get away with things that are banned, how old
money and new money is earned, and how cops are blinded when they knew what s going on.

Essay About Ataturk
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is known as a very important idealist in Turkey, which had become an idol for
Turks. One of the most important reasons he was that crucial for Turkey was that him being a
nationalist founder and leader, and the first president of the Turkish Republic. Ataturk was born in
Salonika (then known as the Ottoman Empire), in 1881 (Reed 577). According to Gawrych, The Great
War, nonetheless, ended in military defeat for Turkey and the severance of the Arab provinces from
the Ottoman Empire (35). After this defeat, being part of military, Ataturk took the control of
government and brought new reforms. The real truth is that, Ataturk, still being at his young ages,
started to think about making reforms for his country and society, and eventually had reached his goals
making Turkey a free and civilized country, by also being the first president of Turkey. There are
several policies and revolutions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

measurements were approved, language revolution (new Turkish letters), and improvements in
education and so on. By this, Ataturk had moved Turkey much further on, which still has its impacts
today. Nationalism is also considered as one of his huge achievements, and.as Morin claimed Ataturk
s antireligious attitude marked Turkish nationalism during this era (488). The Republican revolution is
also a nationalist revolution. The purpose of this reformation is to protect the independence of the
Republic of Turkey, and besides to develop the country s political aspect. As a final point, this

Jane Austen s Emma, Madame Chapone s Paradigms Regarding...
What is the ultimate purpose of friendship? What is the desired outcome status, wealth, amusement, or
perhaps, the betterment of morality?
In Jane Austen s Emma, Madame Chapone s paradigms regarding women mentoring young girls are
delineated as a pertinent social guide since both promote the cultivation of inner morality as the
pinnacle of mentorship. Chapone accentuates that qualities and traits are cardinal for the assessment of
prospective mentors; and we see the calamity unfolding between Emma and Harriet Smith if these
criteria are neglected. Austen concurs, and depicts the ideal mentorship through Mr Knightley and
Emma. Chapone, although she recommends an older woman as companion, does not dismiss the

Emma could not resist. Ah! Ma am but there may be a difficulty. Pardon me but you will be limited as
to number only three at once ; Emma insults Miss Bates, who is a dear friend, in order to quench her
desire for social credit. When Mr Martin s proposal arrives for Harriet, Emma shakes her head with
disdain. Emma has the highest social status, apart from Knightley, and uses this to diminish those of
lower class. Chapone asks us to Observe her manner to servants and inferiors and whether she treats
them always with affability , but we know, Emma does not. Emma thinks Mr Martin is a very inferior
creature and when Harriet asks for advice Emma says the letter had much better be all your own but
sneaks in You need not to be prompted to write the appearance of sorrow for his disappointment .
Harriet refuses Martin, and Emma proclaims that Harriet, if she accepted, would have been confined
to the society of the illiterate and vulgar and could not have visited Mrs. Robert Martin since she
deems the lower class as unsophisticated primitives. Emma would have lost her latest amusement and
her chance to prove her intelligence. Emma s subtle manipulations illustrates the absence of inner
morality, and is thus, an ill qualified mentor.

of trying to learn the plot. I could focus on how the children and adults interact more then who is who.
In this paper I will be analyzing how children develop throughout the film. I will be focusing on how
they interact with adults, what adults think they are incapable/capable of doing and how the children
control their emotions.

The Common Urinary Tract Infection
Bacterial urinary tract infections represent the most common type of nosocomial infections. Often, the
ability of bacteria to both establish and maintain these infections are directly related to biofilm
formation on indwelling devices or within the urinary tract itself (30). Enterococci (especially E.
faecalis) are one of the main causative agents of urinary tract infection and Catheter associated urinary
tract infections (CAUTIs) besides gram negative pathogens (31, 32). In these infections Biofilm
provides a favorable milieu for microbial survival within the host as the organisms are shielded from
the host immune response, as well as antibiotics and antimicrobial agents (33, 34). Several studies
conducted to introduce main virulence genes of enterococci that are associated with biofilm formation
in these bacteria (11, 13, 17), but virulence mechanism and related genes for biofilm formation are not
well understood (35). In this study we investigated biofilm formation of clinical enterococci isolates
isolated from Urinary tract infections. These strains were characterized for presence of adhesions and
secretory virulence factors. Isolates had diverse presence of virulence from lack to highest amount of
virulence genes. Several previous studies investigated relation of virulence genes and biofilm
formation, especially presence of esp and gel. Enterococci esp has been implicated as a contributing
factor in colonization and persistence of infection within the urinary tract

Banning Books Should Be Banned
Throughout history many books have been banned, for many reasons. I believe that banning books is a
dangerous power to give the government or people in authority. Banning book is not only morally
unjust but also I believe that some of the reasons are also illegal. I will explain my opinion in the
following. Banning books can be a dangerous power because banning restricts authors. Today, people
are praised for individuality and uniqueness, and banning books contradicts that. Many authors write
about things that have happened in their lives or they express their way of living and banning a book
that doesn t fit in with what societies way of life is, is wrong. Society may believe in one thing but not
all people do. I also believe that banning books is a form of bullying. Banning is like telling the
author, you don t fit in with everyone else so you can t have books published. I guess, a authors are
supposed to put their beliefs on the back burner in order to make money from published books. In
history some authors were exiled because they wrote about social corruption. ... Show more content on

The Between Heat And Energy
The term thermodynamics is known as the branch of physics that covers the relationship between heat
or temperature and all the forms of energy, including mechanical, electrical, or chemical.
Thermodynamics is a combination of four laws, which are known as zeroth law of thermodynamics,
first law of thermodynamics, second law of thermodynamics, and third law of thermodynamics.
According to Wolfram, The relation between heat and energy was important for the development of
steam engines, and in 1824 Sadi Carnot had captured some of the ideas of thermodynamics in his
discussion of the efficiency of an idealized engine (1019). After this statement was made, scientist
developed its laws. The term thermal equilibrium is when two bodies are at the same temperature.
Therefore, the zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two bodies are in thermal equilibrium with
a third body, they are all in thermal equilibrium. In other words, they are all have the same
temperature. Joseph Black was one of the first scientist and physic known as founder of the zeroth law
of thermodynamics in the late 18th century.
The first law of thermodynamics states that heat energy can not be created or destroyed. It can be just
transformed into other forms or transferred into another location. Rudolf Clausius and William
Rankine were the first physics that made a full statement of the first law of thermodynamics in 1850.
It is also known as another version of the law of conservation of energy.

Sparta was known in Greek as Sparti. The city lied at the southern end of the central Laconia plain, on

sustenance. They had a mandatory military service. Their system of leadership was Oligarchic and
their descendants were mostly the descendants of the Dorian invaders. Athens, on the other hand, was

Dance Goals Analysis
My three goals that I want to accomplish within the next few weeks is to not lose count when dancing,
to become a better all around dancer, and to understand how to choreograph dances to music. My
main learning types are visual and musical. My second way that I learn is interpersonal and

My first goal is to be able to dance without losing count. Being that I am a visual and musical learner
in order to achieve my goal I need to watch someone dance to a song and count out the beats while
watching them dance. I also need to work on dancing to the song while counting more. I also need to

Time As A DHS Student Of American History
I think that as my time as a DHS student that American History has been one of the most interesting
classes that I have taken a part in. I enjoyed learning about how we formed as a countries as well as
the issues that we faced internally and how we dealt with them. Something that I had never realized
before taking this class was how much art was effected by U.S. principals at the time. For example, in
World War II with propaganda in newspapers and in cartoons, we depicted the Japanese as inferior, as
well as less intelligent. The reason that they did this was so that people were not intimidated by the
Japanese and were not afraid to fight them in the Pacific. Before this year I did not realize the
profound effect that art had on society and how people viewed issues of the time. I really enjoyed this
class because it focused onto these aspects that other history classes did not go into such depth about
and opened my mind to different ways to make connections to ideas.

Pinocchio Essay
Introduction:
Pinocchio is one of the most celebrated works in Italian literature. It was written by Carlo Lorenzi in
1883. Like many other writers in Italy at that time he wrote it under a pseudonym Carlo Collodi.
Collodi himself was a firm believer in education and one of his main goals was to educate young
people, at one point declaring. Open a school, and you will close a prison (Collodi in Person, p 141).
His novel about Pinocchio continually portrays the virtues of education and the evils of sloth. When

Web 2.0 Changed the Web Culture into a New Page
Web 2.0
Over the past 10 years, many significant changes have been taken by the appearance of the new Web
2.0 which turns the web culture into a new page. This new platform brought us a new way to share
information, connect communicate, accomplish the business transactions, and foster creativity and
cooperation among users. Instead of the dominant of web creators and the owners of web company,
the new Web 2.0 focuses more on user that allow us, varied participants, to create, design, and control
the content of the Web while deliberately interacting with other creator and sharing our thoughts, our
personal interests and our inventions. With the arrival and new dissemination of Web 2.0, the
controversy increases. Personally, Web 2.0 made the online experience more convenient, enjoyable
and free than ever before.
First and foremost, one of the most notable breakthrough of the Web 2.0 is the improvement in search

experiences that Google brought into our life in his article Web 2.0: Design Patterns and Business
Models rather than providing information though selling an owner product of the older company like
Netscape, in the Web 1.0. Google, by contrast, began its life as a native Web application, never sold or

Comparing Forms Of Federalism Per Merriam Webster
Comparing Forms of Federalism
The legal definition of federalism per Merriam Webster is the distribution of power in a federation
between the central authority and the constituent units (as states) involving especially the allocation of
significant lawmaking powers to those constituent units (Merriam Webster, 2003). This, in simpler
terms, means that it is a form of government in which there is a breaking down of powers between two
different levels of government that have equal status. The purpose of this paper is to define and
compare the three different types of federalism.
When the federalists system was created the founders were responding to the Articles of

Cooperative federalism was mainly utilized from the 1930 s to the 1970 s. This is another view of

separately which may be less effective. Also by using this type of federalism the three will not clash as

The Last Armed Conflict Of The Western Hemisphere
The last armed conflict in the western hemisphere is coming to an end bringing hope of a peaceful and
better world to all of us. This was the message President Santos of Colombia delivered to the general
assembly of the United Nations in 2014. The ongoing peace process sits down the government and the
FARC with the objective of ending hostilities and negotiating a social reform. The FARC guerrilla was
founded almost 50 years ago in a small town south of Colombia where the villagers were tired of the
government s inequality and bad treatments. After 50 years of conflict, the social purpose of the armed
group has disappeared and now they are terrorists and drug traffickers. After 2 years of ongoing
negotiations, 3 out of 5 agenda points have been agreed upon. In his speech for the international
community President Santos effectively gets their support for the process using an authoritarian tone,
a positive diction, and an appeal to sympathy from them showing the horrors of war and the benefits
of peace. He also understands the end of this conflict not only benefits Colombia but sets a precedent
for the rest of the world and convinces the other leaders of this. Nonetheless, he falls in some logical
fallacies like hasty generalizations and broad assumptions that would make his argument fall apart
with another audience in another context.
In an effort to secure support towards the peace process from the international community, President
Santos seeks to show the logic and

  • 7. Still Water Case Study The beautiful town of Stillwater is located on the St. Croix river in the St. Croix River Valley and is known as the Birthplace of Minnesota. The early days of Stillwater were uncertain and uneasy as the land was fought over for many years. The coveted land transitioned from being part of Wisconsin territory to being included in Washington county in 1938. All the while, lumbering interests drew many to the area and white settlers took up residence in Stillwater. One former soldier, Indian trader, Justice of the Peace and promoter, Joseph Renshaw Brown had been in the area since 1820. He had set up a store and farm at Grey Cloud Island and kept a warehouse at the head of Lake St. Croix to supply upriver fur trading operations. This warehouse, which was located where North Stillwater stands today, grew into a small village that he called Dacotah . In 1840 the first ferry was licensed to operate across the St. Croix. The Argument Against The Treaty Of Versailles For proof that the Treaty of Versailles had a large effect on the advent of a second European war, we needn t look further than the advent of Hitler and the National Socialist Party in Germany. In his rise to power, Hitler stood firmly against the Treaty of Versailles and promised to upend and overturn almost everything relating to it. He called its signing, the greatest villainy of the century. He pointed to major punishments that the Treaty of Versailles enacted: the war guilt clause, the dissolution of German colonies and partitioning of German border regions, and the limitation of the German army, and propelled himself into power and later into war. By voting for Hitler, the German population was, by proxy, voting against the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles emasculated the previously strong Germany military; the Reichswehr was limited to only 100,000 men, the creation of an air force was prohibited, the Rhineland was to be demilitarized, and the navy was shrunk. Rape has been used by white men in order to gain and keep power since the beginnings of their supremacy (Haynes 1). This is true for both actual rape and false rape accusations, as assault takes away a victim s power and a false accusation takes away that of the accused. As such, white families have accused men, specifically black men, of raping the white women in their communities and families for centuries. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses the trial of Tom Robinson to showcase how false rape accusations such as the trial of Pleasant, a slave, and the Scottsboro trials were used as power plays by white families against black men. In the case of Tom Robinson, Mayella and Bob Ewell used rape accusations in order to obtain power and control over Tom and the black community of Maycomb, Alabama. Mayella claims that Tom choked and beat her with his left hand and proceeded to rape her until her father returned home. However, Tom s left arm was fully twelve inches shorter than his right, and hung dead at his side (Lee 248). This reveals that her story about him beating her could not have been true. The use of the word dead is an indication that he has no control whatsoever over his hand. As his left hand was useless, Tom could not have caused bruising to the right side of her face. Many authors write about things that have happened in their lives or they express their way of living and banning a book that doesn t fit in with what societies way of life is, is wrong. Society may believe in one thing but not all people do. I also believe that banning books is a form of bullying. Banning is like telling the author, you don t fit in with everyone else so you can t have books published. I guess, a authors are supposed to put their beliefs on the back burner in order to make money from published books. In history some authors were exiled because they wrote about social corruption. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In reality Malcom X was a human s right activist and has been called the most influential American in recent history. • 26. The Between Heat And Energy The term thermodynamics is known as the branch of physics that covers the relationship between heat or temperature and all the forms of energy, including mechanical, electrical, or chemical. Thermodynamics is a combination of four laws, which are known as zeroth law of thermodynamics, first law of thermodynamics, second law of thermodynamics, and third law of thermodynamics. According to Wolfram, The relation between heat and energy was important for the development of steam engines, and in 1824 Sadi Carnot had captured some of the ideas of thermodynamics in his discussion of the efficiency of an idealized engine (1019). After this statement was made, scientist developed its laws. The term thermal equilibrium is when two bodies are at the same temperature. Therefore, the zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two bodies are in thermal equilibrium with a third body, they are all in thermal equilibrium. In other words, they are all have the same temperature. Joseph Black was one of the first scientist and physic known as founder of the zeroth law of thermodynamics in the late 18th century. The first law of thermodynamics states that heat energy can not be created or destroyed. It can be just transformed into other forms or transferred into another location. Rudolf Clausius and William Rankine were the first physics that made a full statement of the first law of thermodynamics in 1850. It is also known as another version of the law of conservation of energy. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Time As A DHS Student Of American History I think that as my time as a DHS student that American History has been one of the most interesting classes that I have taken a part in. I enjoyed learning about how we formed as a countries as well as the issues that we faced internally and how we dealt with them. Something that I had never realized before taking this class was how much art was effected by U.S. principals at the time. For example, in World War II with propaganda in newspapers and in cartoons, we depicted the Japanese as inferior, as well as less intelligent. The reason that they did this was so that people were not intimidated by the Japanese and were not afraid to fight them in the Pacific. Before this year I did not realize the profound effect that art had on society and how people viewed issues of the time. I really enjoyed this class because it focused onto these aspects that other history classes did not go into such depth about and opened my mind to different ways to make connections to ideas. Like many other writers in Italy at that time he wrote it under a pseudonym Carlo Collodi. Collodi himself was a firm believer in education and one of his main goals was to educate young people, at one point declaring. Open a school, and you will close a prison (Collodi in Person, p 141). His novel about Pinocchio continually portrays the virtues of education and the evils of sloth. This, in simpler terms, means that it is a form of government in which there is a breaking down of powers between two different levels of government that have equal status. The new federalism was coined cooperative federalism and it will be discussed next. Cooperative Federalism Cooperative federalism was mainly utilized from the 1930 s to the 1970 s. This is another view of federalism where all three governments, national, state, and local, work together to solve problems and issues. This was the message President Santos of Colombia delivered to the general assembly of the United Nations in 2014. The ongoing peace process sits down the government and the FARC with the objective of ending hostilities and negotiating a social reform. The FARC guerrilla was founded almost 50 years ago in a small town south of Colombia where the villagers were tired of the government s inequality and bad treatments. After 50 years of conflict, the social purpose of the armed group has disappeared and now they are terrorists and drug traffickers. After 2 years of ongoing negotiations, 3 out of 5 agenda points have been agreed upon. In his speech for the international community President Santos effectively gets their support for the process using an authoritarian tone, a positive diction, and an appeal to sympathy from them showing the horrors of war and the benefits of peace. He also understands the end of this conflict not only benefits Colombia but sets a precedent for the rest of the world and convinces the other leaders of this. Nonetheless, he falls in some logical fallacies like hasty generalizations and broad assumptions that would make his argument fall apart with another audience in another context.
