The Apartheid Of The South African Apartheid Essay
Introduction
Canada s Apartheid which can also be known as Canada s Indian Act of 1876. This system of racial
intolerance inspired the South Africa s oppressive regime and lead way to the better known Apartheid
in South Africa. However, since the South African Apartheid was based on our model shouldn t it
simply be known as The Apartheid ? It is interesting to note the varying global images each of these
tragic systems have had. As a student, born and raised in Canada, it is deeply troubling that I first
learned about the South African Apartheid before I learned about Canada s. It is therefore, fascinating
to see how the South African Apartheid created a global awareness and gained support against the
system of segregation while the Indian Act opponents where silenced and the world failed to notice.
Both political systems of discrimination where based on race, both had detrimental compounded
effects on current and succeeding generations. While all groups of race where segregated, not all
groups where segregated evenly. Throughout this paper I will be looking to examine the similarities
between the Coloured group of the Apartheid and the Metis Nation of the Indian Act.
South Africa s Apartheid
Segregation between white and black long preceded the apartheid, however, this remained the prime
objective in the creation of the apartheid state. This system created a racial hierarchy which started
with franchise restrictions imposed by the Parliamentary Registration Act of

Financing and Structuring Health Care
Financing and Structuring Health Care
(1) Three main types of Health Insurance:
The three major types of health insurance available in the US are Health Maintenance Organizations
HMOs, Point of Service plans POS, Preferred Provider Organizations PPOs. (Health Insurance
Coverage, 2010) All the three coverage options come under managed care plans wherein the health
insurers collaborate with healthcare providers to build networks. HMOs offer the most economical
health insurance coverage, however their plans are not always flexible. As they come under HMO
purview the insured has to pay monthly premium while the co payments are relatively low for hospital
and subsequent office visits. When an insured belongs to an HMO, there is a restriction to visit doctors
within his network only and any failure will entail footing the bill by the insured himself. Prior to
visiting Specialist Doctors, HMOs often need the insured to get referrals. Even visiting the Emergency
Room needs approval if one belongs to an HMO. (Health Insurance Coverage, 2010)
Nevertheless HMOs fixed rates encourage them to offer outstanding coverage for health improvement
as well as preventive care services. POS plans are comparable to HMOs on the aspect that their
domain is healthcare networks. In case the insured primary care doctor refers him to a doctor outside
the network, the insurance company will honor major part of the bill. Also, if the insured refers
himself to a doctor outside his network, the

Causes Of The New Deal
The Great Depression of the 1930 s became one of the United States biggest tragedies and placed
stress upon millions of Americans and their families. President Franklin Roosevelt became every
American s hopeful savior. During this decade of depression, President Roosevelt created the New
Deal blueprint, which included many Federal Agencies, otherwise known as Alphabet Soup, that
focused on addressing the roots of the Great Depression and ways to fix them. The main agencies of
the New Deal were the: Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA), Civilian Conservation Corps
(CCC), National Recovery Administration (NRA), Social Security Administration (SSA), Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA), and Works Progress Administration (WPA). The New Deal was a successful
plan, which included many federal agencies; although most of the agencies were successful, the relief
agencies were the most successful.
President Roosevelt s Alphabet Soup Agencies were created based on his three r s mission: relief,
recovery, and reform. His idea of relief was giving direct aid to the homeless and unemployed. His
goal for his idea of recovery was fixing the economy and focusing on creating jobs and establishing
new successful small businesses. Lastly, President Roosevelt s goal for the nation s reform was to
solve issues within the federal government and create new federal agencies that would prevent another
Great Depression. These three R s were the basis of his New Deal project and the foundations of every
Alphabet Soup Agency.
The recovery based Agriculture Adjustment Administration (AAA), was the first federal program to
place a limit on agricultural production. During the World War One (WWI), agricultural production
was very profitable for Americans because many European countries were unable to produce large
amounts of agriculture, so American agriculture was always in high demand. After WWI ended,
Europeans were able to begin to restore their agricultural industry; thus, making American agriculture
in low demand. This caused items like corn to go from $1.20 per bushel to 26 cents per bushel. Not
only agriculture prices retract back to prewar prices, but farmers began losing their land due to a
decline in the earning power of

Ethical Dilemmas Of The Librarian
CHAPTER 1:
INTRODUCTION
1.0 Introduction
A good librarian provides the right information to library user on request and giving the equal service
to all. However, many have not considered that librarians have particular dilemma in handling
everyday work, which is ethical dilemma. According to Onoyeyan (2014), ethical dilemma is a
situation where there is a conflict between principles and a choice of action that needs to be
determined.
For example, a library user, ask the librarian a question regarding to his/her assignment. In that
moment, will the librarian create a teachable moment or just give the information right away
especially when the asker is a student. Thus, the librarian faced ethical dilemma. It is because a

Creatures In The Deep Sea Research Paper
Have you ever wondered about the creatures that lurk in the deep sea? A few of them include zombie
worms, giant squids, and yeti crabs which are quite interesting creatures. They are similar and
different in a few categories: habitat, appearance, and diet. The habitats of each of these creatures
varies. Zombie worms live on the ocean floor, whereas the giant squid lives on continental shelves and
island slopes. The yeti crabs have an even stranger environment; hydrothermal vents in the southern
oceans. Another difference in the specimens is their appearances. The giant squid is colorful and larger
than the other two. At the surface they are reddish pink with white mottling, but deep down in the sea
they are silvery or gold depending on

Charlie Gordon In Daniel Keyes Flowers For Algernon
Daniel Keyes, in the story Flowers for Algernon , portrayed hope for a mentally disabled man, Charlie
Gordon. The operation that had the intention of helping Charlie to become a normal person had quite
the opposite effect. After the operation, Charlie became much smarter, at which point he realized how
different socially he was from his peers. His friends make fun of him, his coworkers want him to be
fired, made a saying that belittles him, and seeing a mentally impaired waiter at a restaurant leads him
to comprehend that he would never be the same as his peers. Another effect of Charlie s increase in
intelligence is that he knows how little Dr.Nemur and Dr.Strauss care about him. They did not tell him
about the potential dangerous side effects of the surgery, and thought of him as a lesser human being;
they went ahead with the surgery because they believed society ... Show more content on

Charlie wanted the doctors to choose him, because on some level he knew how atypical he was. From
the doctors perspective, the opportunity to make Charlie normal superseded his life; this is why they
neglected to tell him about the possible side effects of the operation. Disturbingly, the doctors knew
that Charlie could regress to his former state and possibly die; they decided not to inform him of this
fact because they wanted the recognition and praise that would be showered upon them if Charlie s
operation was a success. Charlie s impairment did not diminish his worth as a human being, but during
the experiment he was equated to a mouse, Algernon. The all encompassing reason for the doctors
wanting to fix Charlie was that they thought society would benefit. They wanted him to become, as
they perceived to be, normal, and to become a functioning member of society. At the expense of
Charlie s health and wellbeing, the doctors experimented on him, and treated him as if he was less of a

The Absence Of Effective Birth Control Essay
INTRODUCTON
The absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940. Up
until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but
also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth
control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century,
including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New
Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New
Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument
during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the
introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the
absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first
analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will
then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will
discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth
control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of effective birth control did in fact lead
women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940.

Jack The Ripper Research Paper
Jack the Ripper, as he has been named, is one of the most notorious serial killers off all time. He
haunted the streets of Whitechapel, England in 1888 and has continued to do so for many years. His
identity has never been confirmed, although there have been multiple different suspects over the last
126 years. The Metropolitan police had various possible suspects but one of the most persistent was a
Jewish immigrant. Was a Jewish immigrant simply an easy target for the Metropolitan police or was
Jack the Ripper in fact a Jewish immigrant? To understand why the Metropolitan police may have
targeted this group we must first be familiar with the background of the killings, have an
understanding of the Metropolitan Police, how they functioned and how they came about attempting
to solve the crime. Then, we must look at the Jewish immigrants and why they may have been targeted
as murderers. Jack the Ripper has been accused of murdering five prostitutes in the East End of
London. Each of these killings happened late at night with the bodies, badly stabbed and mutilated in
most cases, found early the next morning. These five women have since been called the canonical five

The Joy Luck Club
Lost in Translation
Amy Tan said in the People Magazine in 1989 about her novel, The Joy Luck Club, The book could be
about any culture or generation and what is lost between them. Amy Tan reveals that the mothers try
to pass on their Chinese heritage and teach their American born daughters to avoid the mistakes the
mothers made growing up in China. However, the daughters often see their mothers attempts at
guidance as attempting to control their lives. The mother and daughter pair of Lindo and Waverly
epitomize this relationship, where Lindo tries to integrate Chinese and American cultures into her own
life and Waverly tries to both be independent and keep her Chinese heritage. Although Waverly and
Lindo do not mend their cultural conflicts completely, their experiences with one another allow them
to change and accept one another.
Lindo and Waverly are two women who experienced very different childhoods, where the society and
cultures of China and America pushed them in separate directions. Lindo grew up in China, where
family is the single most important priority. At the young age of two, she is promised to the Huangs
son for marriage (51) by her parents through a matchmaker. She is an obedient wife (56), learning to
please Huang Taitai while planning a way to null the marriage arrangement. By living a dual identity

 Grid Connected Photovoltaic System with Single stage Buck Boost Inverter Ch.Srinivas Reddy,
Assistant Professor; Ranga Purushotham, Associate Professor; and P.Parthasaradi Reddy, Associate
Professor Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad, India Abstract for
very high voltage gain of a Photo Voltaic system, this paper proposed a buck boost inverter of single
stage. DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and MPPT (maximum power point tracking) is
employed to get one power factor. Minimization of switching losses is employed with only two
switches and operated at very high frequency. Easy control capability, optimum size, affordable cost
with high voltage gain made the system employable. AC voltage conversion is achieved along with
boosting of DC voltage of Photo Voltaic system of inverter. Obstacle shadow variations also reduced
by means of having the possibility of reduced series connected modules; this ability is due to the high
voltage gain. Since the proposed design has the two buck boost converter each one operates for only
one half cycle and the Discontinuous conduction mode operates at unit power factor. Simulation
results assure the proposed idea of the single stage interleaved inverter for high voltage gain
applications. Index Terms Single Stage, Buck Boost Inverter, Low Cost, Grid Connected, PV system,

Application For Peer Application Sharing Using Bittorrent...
ABSTRACT
The unique attributes of certain applications lend themselves amicable to the peer computing model.
Peer computing applications make efficient use of computing resources around the edge of the
network. The efficiency of peer computing networks is enhanced by the availability of higher
distributed storage capacity and computational cycles. Certain applications take advantage of direct
connection between peer devices, thereby improving the efficiency of the communication link. In this
paper, the working of the BitTorrent protocol is discussed, along with the improved efficiency in
certain kinds of applications. This paper further talks about the usage of BirTorrent protocol over local
area network (LAN).
1.Intoduction
Peer to peer file sharing using BitTorrent protocol:
1.1 Problem Definition: A peer to peer computer network uses diverse connectivity between the
different participants of the network. In a conventional network where centralized resources are used,
operations such as file sharing, telephony etc., are not performed efficiently. On the other hand, a peer
to peer network uses the cumulative bandwidth of the different participants, thereby improving the
overall efficiency of the network. The deep dive is focused upon the file sharing aspect of the peer to
peer networks. Fig 1.1 An example of peer to peer file sharing

Osteogenesis Imperfecta ( Oi ) Is An Inherited Disorder...
Science Biology Transcript
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI)
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is an inherited disorder characterized by extreme fragility of the bones
also known as brittle bone disease .
Clinical Features
The symptoms of OI include malformed bones, short, small body, loose joints, muscle weakness,
sclera (whites of the eyes) look purple, grey or blue, triangular face, barrel shaped rib cage, curved
spine, brittle teeth, breathing problems and a collagen deficiency.
Classification
There are many ways to classify OI. The most accurate methods are the following.
In some cases, an ultrasound can identify bone abnormalities at 14 18 weeks. Cells obtained through
chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis can also be analysed for a genetic mutation. Amount of
collagen can be tested through a skin sample and genes can be tested through a blood sample and X
rays to check for bone abnormalities such as the symptoms explained earlier can be used to diagnose.
Radiographic Features
The hallmark feature of Osteogenesis Imperfecta is fragile bones that fracture easily. Osteogenesis
Imperfecta affects both bone quality and quantity (i.e. bone mass).
History
We do not know for certain about when OI started. Perhaps when sin entered the world but we do
know that it has been around for a long time as you can see in these pictures.

Essay on Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an essential in the body s defenses against infection. Susceptible children will not tolerate
relatively unimportant infections and this can lead to prolonged illness and in the case of behaviorally
disturbed children of symptoms previously well managed. Vitamin C is an extremely safe substance
which is immensely beneficial to the brain and body in a multitude of ways. Its potential for
preventing and treating autism has barely been touched. Vitamin C is heavily concentrated in the
brain, but its exact role in brain function has not been fully understood. A recent search turned up 400
references referring to vitamin C and the effects of the brain, but the mystery still remains.

Vitamin C in autism? Has vitamin C been used in the treatment of autism? I was only able to find only
one study in which vitamin C was evaluated as an intervention in autism. The study was initiated by
Dolske. The study consisted of a 30 week double blind, placebo controlled trial of 52 mg/lb. per day
as a treatment for 18 autistic children (ages 6 to 19) in a residential setting. Statistically significant
improvement on various outcome measures was reported. But vitamin C is extremely safe, even in
massive doses, so it would be well to find out what the optimal dose for autism might be.
We might ask ourselves, what is the safe dose of vitamin C? A lot. Vitamin C expert Robert Cathcart
proposes the quot;bowel tolerance quot; method of determining one s own vitamin C requirement. You
simply take increasingly large amounts of vitamin C each day until your body reaches the vitamin C
saturation point. Going beyond that level, the vitamin C becomes a laxative. For most people in good
health, the well tolerated level tends to be about 10 to 15 grams of vitamin C per day. If you start to
get sick, your body requires more vitamin C, and your quot;bowel tolerance quot; may rise to 30 or
100 or more grams per day. But, according to Cathcart and other experts on vitamin C, increasing your
input when you are sick will dramatically abbreviate your illness.

What Is The Art Of Tattoos Essay
It may seem a little grandiose to talk about the art of tattooing, but when you are truly familiar with
what goes into being a professional tattooist, you recognize that there is good reason these men and
women are called tattoo artists. It takes both natural talent and the drive to perfect skills in order to
develop into a true tattoo artist.
While the art of tattooing is certainly unique in the overall art world, many of the fundamentals are the
same. Studying the basics of drawing, painting, illustration, and other forms of visual art are a great
way to build the skills needed to become a successful tattoo artist.
Most people actually start out by simply recognizing that they have both a knack for and an interest in
creating art on paper. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than actual canvas or some sort of specialized paper, the tattoo artist imprints his or her
creations onto the skin of a living, breathing human being. This creates both challenges and benefits
that other types of artists will never experience. For one thing, a tattoo artist s work constantly moves
from one location to another, rather than being displayed on a wall in a home or a museum or in the
pages of a book.
Unlike other canvases, however, skin is very unforgiving. There is no erasing of mistakes or throwing
out a first attempt and starting fresh on a new sheet of paper. In addition, receiving a tattoo can be
rather uncomfortable, so the tattoo artist must constantly be aware of the need to make his or her
canvas more comfortable or to reassure it. Dedicating oneself to the art of tattooing requires the ability
to work with other people and to inspire and earn their trust.
What It Takes to Become a Tattoo Artist
Becoming a tattoo artist requires a certain type of person. There are some very specific skills and
qualities that are required. If you re interested in becoming a tattoo artist, you may want to check out

Differences Between King Camarus And Merlin
I wonder what the scene between the King, Camarus, and Merlin is insinuating. I am very confused as
to why the King would call his grandson to his quarters only to banish him as soon as he saw his face.
I have been pondering the reason behind this and have come up with a few possibilities.
The first possibility I have come up with is that he could have wanted to introduce the foreign King to
Merlin. Rumors were spreading that Niniane was betrothed to the foreign king, so it is very possible
that he wanted to see what she would be bringing into the marriage.
The King may have simply wanted to know what Merlin was up to, seeing as he sits on the wall

As technology is becoming more prevalent the manner in which we store information is changing.
Gone are the days of information being stored into file cabinets. Instead information is stored in

out. Most hackers fall in one of three categories, white hat, black hat, and grey hat hackers. The white
hat hacker is a person who hacks legally; no information is stolen or vulnerabilities exploited. Instead,
white hat hackers are hired by companies to try and breach the security in place, they then inform said
company of how they managed to bypass security masseurs in order to help patch exploits in the
security. Then there is the black hat hackers, these hackers hack without permission for self gain or for
the challenge. They normally steal information like credit card numbers, social security numbers and
addresses. Other times the will sell the nature of the exploit on the black market to the highest bidder.
However, financial gain is not the only motivation

Schools And Classrooms Are Those With Special Needs
A1. One of the major diversity groups in this country in schools/classrooms are those with special
needs. You are probably guaranteed to have at least two kids in your class that suffer from learning
disabilities or disabilities in general. These students need special attention, from their curriculum to
the treatment of their peers. Special education students are spending more time in the classroom, not
just for educational purposes but for social purposes as well. Challenges that teachers face with these
students is making sure that they are included in the classroom on a day to day basis, and that they are
adjusting curriculum to suit the child s needs. More times than not the child will get the same work as
other students and it would be worked on either at the child s pace and graded accordingly, or taken to
their resource classrooms to work on it with their resource teachers.
Challenges that special education students face are not being able to understand or keep up with the
work in the classroom. They often feel separated from their peers or maybe even not being accepted
by their peers. The challenges they face such as wheel chairs, crutches etc may keep them at a slower
pace than the other students or get in the way when student are moving around the classroom. They
often are not with their peers, but separated into smaller classes so they are not as socially excepted as
other students.
Another major group of students that are in a classroom are those of different

Herman Cain Research Paper
On December 13, 1945 in Memphis Tennessee a little boy was born to Luther and Lenora Cain. His
friends and family know him as the Hermanator , but much of America knows him better as Herman
Cain. Cain has one younger brother, Thurman. Despite being born in Tennessee, Cain was raised right
around the corner from Georgia State University in the west side of Atlanta, known to many now as
The Bluff .
Herman Cain s mother was a maid, and his father was a chauffeur for Robert Woodruff, president of
Coca Cola. His parents worked hard, but only had two main goals in life. One was to own their own
house, and the second was for their children to not only go but to graduate from college. They
achieved their first goal when Luther had finally saved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cain experienced significant success at Coca Cola, and later moved to the Pillsbury Company. While
at Pillsbury, Cain switched from information technology to business management. This would be
where Cain got his first real experience in the hospitality field. He was named regional vice president
of their restaurant division, known to many as Burger King. At that time, Cain s region, the
Philadelphia region, was ranked at the bottom of the twelve Burger King groups. To learn the ropes,
he had to start at the grill and other jobs many with master degrees might think were below them.
Within three years of Cain taking over, the Philadelphia region became the highest performing region
in the company. Many would see this as a successful career, but Herman Cain was not done yet.
Actually, he was just getting started in his career.
In 1986, Herman Cain began what would later be known as his most successful position. He was made
President of the Godfather s Pizza chain. Cain once described the condition of the company before he
took over as having one foot in the grave, and one foot on a banana peel . Godfather s had lawsuits, a
failing menu, and an unmotivated workforce to name a few problems. Cain took on all the problems
head first. He began by closing twenty percent of the chain s restaurant, which resulted in nearly four

Faust Greed Essay
Goethe uses the characters in Faust to show the destruction that insatiable greed causes. The characters
of Faust, Gretchen, and Mephistopheles are each overcome by their own greed and inability to find
satisfaction in life. Goethe s warning of the inevitable downfall greed causes is still relevant the selfish
society of today.
Goethe ensures the audience members bear witness to multiple forms of greed within the title
character. Faust sees no value in his impressive accomplishments, because they have not afforded him
substantial wealth or property. Driven by this greed, he signs Mephistopheles deal and begins his
descent into immorality. When Faust spots Gretchen, he is already under Mephistopheles influence
and so overcome with lust that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goethe uses Mephistopheles to voice his disapproval of those that would spend their energy
destroying others to satisfy their own desires. Mephistopheles creates chaos in the lives of others,
including Faust, Gretchen, and the emperor, simply to entertain himself. This desire to destroy others,
for his own personal gain is what leads him to make the wager with God. However, in the end,
Mephistopheles falls victim to his own greed. Overcome by his own lust for the angels that arrive to
save Faust, he loses the man s soul and consequently, the wager. Goethe s message is clear, one should
never exploit others for personal gain and still bares weight today. One can imagine Goethe would
have some choice words for Bernie Madoff. The talented Wall Street tycoon spent his efforts
swindling friends and clients out of billions of dollars. Madoff was of course caught and will spend
the rest of his life in jail. One can only imagine what Madoff could create if used his talents for good,
rather than to advance his own despicable greed.
Goethe s ability to understand the driving forces within the human psyche is one reason Faust still
survives today. Greed, as depicted by the characters of Faust, Gretchen, and Mephistopheles, is still
prevalent in society today. It is interesting to consider what great work Goethe could create based on
the world today. Although, he seems to have perfectly captured it

The Usage Of Law Enforcement Cameras
A career in front of the camera is the dream job for numerous Americas. Little do they know they may
have already been on camera. Every day people in the United States of America are caught in the lens
of law enforcement cameras. These cameras sound nefarious due to their constant watching of people.
However, law enforcement cameras are anything but nefarious as their intent is to stop actions that
may rightly be deemed nefarious. The cameras the law enforcement use may be on the street, a
member of the law enforcement, a police car or a traffic light. With all the cameras, their purpose is
for the good of the people and to enforce laws. However, there is controversy surrounding the usage of
the law enforcement cameras due to how some people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his article, he discusses both sides of the issue. He begins by stating that many believe
cameras are needed to maintain security in modern times. However, he also mentions that the cameras
are expensive to acquire, maintain and that they are an invasion of privacy. Brasch mentions that with
the cameras there is less overtime paperwork from officers having to defend themselves or explain
how a traffic stop happened in court and that it keeps more people honest (2). Brasch then goes on to
include information about a police department that got rid of the law enforcement cameras in their
department due to the cost and maintenance. He also mentions a police department that will not install
any cameras because they believe it is against individual rights. The author then goes on to include
that the cameras would help clear up situations that are difficult to understand such as police officer
related deaths. Other opinions believe the cameras would not help clear up the controversy caused
when there is shooting incidents. The author concludes that although cameras have pros and cons not
all problems can be solved with them. This article is very informative to read when one wants to be
informed about law enforcement cameras. Brasch provides support for each point he makes on both
sides of the argument. He also maintains a neutral tone in his writing, the only bias coming from the
quotes he takes from sources. However, Brasch does not elaborate long on the opinion that cameras
invade privacy. This is a weakness for his article since the opinion can easily be disproved by looking
to other sources for information. The article Public Video Surveillance: Is It An Effective Crime
Prevention Tool? by Marcus Nieto states that the cameras surveillance is physically

Organizational Structure And Its Impact On Organizational...
Wilfredo Hernandez
Prof. Coomber
SG 91
Over the past few years many changes have been made by organizations, in the way that they do
business. One of these changes has been going from rigid and centralized organizations, to now taking
advantage of flexible and decentralized structures. An organizational structure outlines the way the job
tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated. The effect a decentralized structure has on
managers and employees is that, the gap between who can make the decision has been spread. With a
decentralized structure the process of decision making comes down to the manager that is closest to
the action. The impact on organizational strategies has been that organizations have to adapt to the
new structures to fit in to be able to compete more efficiently and effectively.
Firstly, one of the common organizational designs we see today is the simple structure. The simple
structure design has a low degree of departmentalization, wide spans of control, centralized in a single
person, and little formalization. Examples of organizations that use the simple structural model are
small retail stores, and electronic firms run by a hard driving entrepreneur. Small businesses usually
use the simple structure, these are businesses that usually have only two or three vertical levels, a
loose body of employees, and the decision making process is centralized. The advantage of using the
simple structure lies in its simplicity, of being fast, flexible

Introduction. How Alike Are Great Britain And France’S
Introduction
How alike are Great Britain and France s political systems to one another? The British system has had
a lot of gradual steady changes throughout the years. While, the French political model has had more
dramatic radical changes, until about 1958. In 1958 Charles de Gaulle changed the constitution and set
the precedent for the modern semi presidential system that we see today. In this paper, I will be
comparing both systems to one another and point out their huge similarities.

A vote of no confidence can be called if any government sponsored bill is defeated in the Commons. If
the vote of no confidence is passed, the Prime Minister must either resign, or ask the monarch to
dissolve parliament, and call a general election. Basically, since a government usually holds a majority
in the Commons, and party whips try to ensure that party members support the government,
governments are likely to win all but the most controversial votes. However, if a government doesn t
have a large majority, then it can bring backbench members of parliament into line, and call three line
whips; votes that are compulsory for members of parliaments to attend.
PARLIAMENT The Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the
supreme legislative institution in the United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories (it alone has
parliamentary sovereignty). It consists of a head of state (currently Queen Elizabeth II), a bicameral
system with an upper house; House of Lords and the lower house which is the House of Commons. It
also includes an Upper House, called the House of Lords, and a Lower House, called the House of
Commons. The House of Lords is an almost a fully appointed body. The House of Commons, on the
other hand, is a democratically elected chamber. The House of Lords and the House of Commons meet
in separate chambers in the Palace of Westminster (the Houses of Parliament), in central London. The

Essay about Elites And The Masses
Elites and the Masses
There are many theories pertaining to the nature of power in society. In modern society, it is important
to identify where and when power is exercised, who benefits and who suffers from it being exerted
upon them. In this tradition, it is useful to examine the managerialist perspective.
Managerialism focuses on organizations as the basis, or unit of analysis of society, to which all other
aspects of society are subordinate to. These organizations use their resources in an attempt to dominate
each other and society. Managerialism tells us that power is concentrated among a group of elites who
control organizations, and use them as an instrument to gain more power and expand their realm ...

The increased use of assembly lines in production is a prime example of depersonalization within
bureaucracy.
Weber identifies several different types of authority. One is traditional legitimacy, which states that
authority is bestowed upon someone based on traditional roles of authority, such as the pope or even
the parents of children. Charismatic authority tells us that some are granted legitimacy to have
authority over our lives by sheer charisma, such as Martin Luther King jr., Adolf Hitler and Gandhi.
The third type of authority is rational legal authority. This states that we grant legitimacy based upon
the office they serve. An example of this is the inherent authority of Jesse Ventura over the people of
Minnesota, simply because he holds the title of governor.
In the managerial perspective, the economy is seen as a process of three different factors:
industrialization, elite competition and bureaucratic rationalization.
Industrialization is characterized by the increased role of technology as an integral factor of
production. As industrialization and science further blend together, the economy becomes increasingly
large and complex, making bureaucratic organizations more and more of a necessary function to the
advancement of

The jury came back with a defendant verdict and the plaintiff files a motion for a new trial on the
grounds that the court made an error in instructing the jury as to the Vermont Sports

This inheritance of assumptions of risk and if the action is applicable to the case is a question of fact
for the jury, and therefore the jury in this matter found it applicable, which was not thereby applicable

The jury in the Dillworth matter applied the assumption of risks to all participants in sports, not just
the operators of ski resort. In regards to dangerous activities and sports in general the court stated that
when a primary assumption of the risk exists there is no liability to the plaintiff because there is no
negligence on the part of the defendant to begin with; the danger to the plaintiff is not one which the
defendant is required to extinguish or warn about. Having no duty to begin with, there is no breach of
duty to constitute negligence, showing that even other participants not just those in charge of the
activity can not be negligent for risks that are inherent to the activity. This assumption of risk has a

Why Do I Choose Texas Tech Essay
What is your reason for choosing Texas Tech?
Senior year is such a busy, long, and stressful school. On top of all that is deciding which college you
would want to attend and the process to get into whatever school you choose. Personally, ever since I
was young, I was kind of obligated to attend Texas Tech by my relatives. Being that I was born in the
small town of Brownfield, Texas and most of my family is from there, they made frequent trips to
Lubbock being that it was only forty five minutes away. Thus, they fell in love with the school, their
sports teams, and the environment. I on the other hand, hadn t experienced all this due to the fact that I
grew up in Amarillo, Texas. But every time my family would visit my relatives in Brownfield, I would
always expect the usual So have you applied to Tech yet? and We re going to have a Red Raider in the
family! but you know at the time I was just starting senior year. Nonetheless I really needed to start
thinking about it because in no time I ll be graduating high school. When I did start deciding what
college I wanted to attend, my family didn t really want me to attend a college out of state because
they wanted me to be close if I ever needed anything and wanted me to safe. So that narrowed it down
quite a bit. Being from Amarillo, we had a community college of Amarillo College and West ... Show

  • 2. The Apartheid Of The South African Apartheid Essay Introduction Canada s Apartheid which can also be known as Canada s Indian Act of 1876. This system of racial intolerance inspired the South Africa s oppressive regime and lead way to the better known Apartheid in South Africa. However, since the South African Apartheid was based on our model shouldn t it simply be known as The Apartheid ? It is interesting to note the varying global images each of these tragic systems have had. As a student, born and raised in Canada, it is deeply troubling that I first learned about the South African Apartheid before I learned about Canada s. It is therefore, fascinating to see how the South African Apartheid created a global awareness and gained support against the system of segregation while the Indian Act opponents where silenced and the world failed to notice. Both political systems of discrimination where based on race, both had detrimental compounded effects on current and succeeding generations. While all groups of race where segregated, not all groups where segregated evenly. Throughout this paper I will be looking to examine the similarities between the Coloured group of the Apartheid and the Metis Nation of the Indian Act. South Africa s Apartheid Segregation between white and black long preceded the apartheid, however, this remained the prime objective in the creation of the apartheid state. This system created a racial hierarchy which started with franchise restrictions imposed by the Parliamentary Registration Act of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Financing and Structuring Health Care Financing and Structuring Health Care (1) Three main types of Health Insurance: The three major types of health insurance available in the US are Health Maintenance Organizations HMOs, Point of Service plans POS, Preferred Provider Organizations PPOs. (Health Insurance Coverage, 2010) All the three coverage options come under managed care plans wherein the health insurers collaborate with healthcare providers to build networks. HMOs offer the most economical health insurance coverage, however their plans are not always flexible. As they come under HMO purview the insured has to pay monthly premium while the co payments are relatively low for hospital and subsequent office visits. When an insured belongs to an HMO, there is a restriction to visit doctors within his network only and any failure will entail footing the bill by the insured himself. Prior to visiting Specialist Doctors, HMOs often need the insured to get referrals. Even visiting the Emergency Room needs approval if one belongs to an HMO. (Health Insurance Coverage, 2010) Nevertheless HMOs fixed rates encourage them to offer outstanding coverage for health improvement as well as preventive care services. POS plans are comparable to HMOs on the aspect that their domain is healthcare networks. In case the insured primary care doctor refers him to a doctor outside the network, the insurance company will honor major part of the bill. Also, if the insured refers himself to a doctor outside his network, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Causes Of The New Deal The Great Depression of the 1930 s became one of the United States biggest tragedies and placed stress upon millions of Americans and their families. President Franklin Roosevelt became every American s hopeful savior. During this decade of depression, President Roosevelt created the New Deal blueprint, which included many Federal Agencies, otherwise known as Alphabet Soup, that focused on addressing the roots of the Great Depression and ways to fix them. The main agencies of the New Deal were the: Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA), Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), National Recovery Administration (NRA), Social Security Administration (SSA), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and Works Progress Administration (WPA). The New Deal was a successful plan, which included many federal agencies; although most of the agencies were successful, the relief agencies were the most successful. President Roosevelt s Alphabet Soup Agencies were created based on his three r s mission: relief, recovery, and reform. His idea of relief was giving direct aid to the homeless and unemployed. His goal for his idea of recovery was fixing the economy and focusing on creating jobs and establishing new successful small businesses. Lastly, President Roosevelt s goal for the nation s reform was to solve issues within the federal government and create new federal agencies that would prevent another Great Depression. These three R s were the basis of his New Deal project and the foundations of every Alphabet Soup Agency. The recovery based Agriculture Adjustment Administration (AAA), was the first federal program to place a limit on agricultural production. During the World War One (WWI), agricultural production was very profitable for Americans because many European countries were unable to produce large amounts of agriculture, so American agriculture was always in high demand. After WWI ended, Europeans were able to begin to restore their agricultural industry; thus, making American agriculture in low demand. This caused items like corn to go from $1.20 per bushel to 26 cents per bushel. Not only agriculture prices retract back to prewar prices, but farmers began losing their land due to a decline in the earning power of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, many have not considered that librarians have particular dilemma in handling everyday work, which is ethical dilemma. According to Onoyeyan (2014), ethical dilemma is a situation where there is a conflict between principles and a choice of action that needs to be determined. For example, a library user, ask the librarian a question regarding to his/her assignment. In that moment, will the librarian create a teachable moment or just give the information right away especially when the asker is a student. Thus, the librarian faced ethical dilemma. A few of them include zombie worms, giant squids, and yeti crabs which are quite interesting creatures. They are similar and different in a few categories: habitat, appearance, and diet. The habitats of each of these creatures varies. Zombie worms live on the ocean floor, whereas the giant squid lives on continental shelves and island slopes. The yeti crabs have an even stranger environment; hydrothermal vents in the southern oceans. Another difference in the specimens is their appearances. The giant squid is colorful and larger than the other two. At the surface they are reddish pink with white mottling, but deep down in the sea they are silvery or gold depending on ... • 7. Charlie Gordon In Daniel Keyes Flowers For Algernon Daniel Keyes, in the story Flowers for Algernon , portrayed hope for a mentally disabled man, Charlie Gordon. The operation that had the intention of helping Charlie to become a normal person had quite the opposite effect. After the operation, Charlie became much smarter, at which point he realized how different socially he was from his peers. His friends make fun of him, his coworkers want him to be fired, made a saying that belittles him, and seeing a mentally impaired waiter at a restaurant leads him to comprehend that he would never be the same as his peers. Another effect of Charlie s increase in intelligence is that he knows how little Dr.Nemur and Dr.Strauss care about him. They did not tell him about the potential dangerous side effects of the surgery, and thought of him as a lesser human being; they went ahead with the surgery because they believed society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Charlie wanted the doctors to choose him, because on some level he knew how atypical he was. From the doctors perspective, the opportunity to make Charlie normal superseded his life; this is why they neglected to tell him about the possible side effects of the operation. Disturbingly, the doctors knew that Charlie could regress to his former state and possibly die; they decided not to inform him of this fact because they wanted the recognition and praise that would be showered upon them if Charlie s operation was a success. Charlie s impairment did not diminish his worth as a human being, but during the experiment he was equated to a mouse, Algernon. The all encompassing reason for the doctors wanting to fix Charlie was that they thought society would benefit. They wanted him to become, as they perceived to be, normal, and to become a functioning member of society. At the expense of Charlie s health and wellbeing, the doctors experimented on him, and treated him as if he was less of a human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Absence Of Effective Birth Control Essay INTRODUCTON The absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940. Up until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century, including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of effective birth control did in fact lead women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940. NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY BETWEEN 1900 AND 1940 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Jack The Ripper Research Paper Jack the Ripper, as he has been named, is one of the most notorious serial killers off all time. He haunted the streets of Whitechapel, England in 1888 and has continued to do so for many years. His identity has never been confirmed, although there have been multiple different suspects over the last 126 years. The Metropolitan police had various possible suspects but one of the most persistent was a Jewish immigrant. Was a Jewish immigrant simply an easy target for the Metropolitan police or was Jack the Ripper in fact a Jewish immigrant? To understand why the Metropolitan police may have targeted this group we must first be familiar with the background of the killings, have an understanding of the Metropolitan Police, how they functioned and how they came about attempting to solve the crime. Then, we must look at the Jewish immigrants and why they may have been targeted as murderers. Jack the Ripper has been accused of murdering five prostitutes in the East End of London. Each of these killings happened late at night with the bodies, badly stabbed and mutilated in most cases, found early the next morning. These five women have since been called the canonical five . The Joy Luck Club Lost in Translation Amy Tan said in the People Magazine in 1989 about her novel, The Joy Luck Club, The book could be about any culture or generation and what is lost between them. Amy Tan reveals that the mothers try to pass on their Chinese heritage and teach their American born daughters to avoid the mistakes the mothers made growing up in China. However, the daughters often see their mothers attempts at guidance as attempting to control their lives. The mother and daughter pair of Lindo and Waverly epitomize this relationship, where Lindo tries to integrate Chinese and American cultures into her own life and Waverly tries to both be independent and keep her Chinese heritage. Although Waverly and Lindo do not mend their cultural conflicts completely, their experiences with one another allow them to change and accept one another. Lindo and Waverly are two women who experienced very different childhoods, where the society and cultures of China and America pushed them in separate directions. Lindo grew up in China, where family is the single most important priority. At the young age of two, she is promised to the Huangs son for marriage (51) by her parents through a matchmaker. She is an obedient wife (56), learning to please Huang Taitai while planning a way to null the marriage arrangement. Grid Connected Photovoltaic System With Single Stage Buck...  Grid Connected Photovoltaic System with Single stage Buck Boost Inverter Ch.Srinivas Reddy, Assistant Professor; Ranga Purushotham, Associate Professor; and P.Parthasaradi Reddy, Associate Professor Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad, India Abstract for very high voltage gain of a Photo Voltaic system, this paper proposed a buck boost inverter of single stage. DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and MPPT (maximum power point tracking) is employed to get one power factor. Minimization of switching losses is employed with only two switches and operated at very high frequency. Easy control capability, optimum size, affordable cost with high voltage gain made the system employable. AC voltage conversion is achieved along with boosting of DC voltage of Photo Voltaic system of inverter. Obstacle shadow variations also reduced by means of having the possibility of reduced series connected modules; this ability is due to the high voltage gain. Since the proposed design has the two buck boost converter each one operates for only one half cycle and the Discontinuous conduction mode operates at unit power factor. Simulation results assure the proposed idea of the single stage interleaved inverter for high voltage gain applications. Classification There are many ways to classify OI. The most accurate methods are the following. In some cases, an ultrasound can identify bone abnormalities at 14 18 weeks. Cells obtained through chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis can also be analysed for a genetic mutation. Amount of collagen can be tested through a skin sample and genes can be tested through a blood sample and X rays to check for bone abnormalities such as the symptoms explained earlier can be used to diagnose. Radiographic Features The hallmark feature of Osteogenesis Imperfecta is fragile bones that fracture easily. Osteogenesis Imperfecta affects both bone quality and quantity (i.e. bone mass). History We do not know for certain about when OI started. Perhaps when sin entered the world but we do know that it has been around for a long time as you can see in these pictures. http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00381 009 0817 7/fulltext.html These are pictures of a 3000 year old mummy that has OI. Susceptible children will not tolerate relatively unimportant infections and this can lead to prolonged illness and in the case of behaviorally disturbed children of symptoms previously well managed. Vitamin C is an extremely safe substance which is immensely beneficial to the brain and body in a multitude of ways. Its potential for preventing and treating autism has barely been touched. Vitamin C is heavily concentrated in the brain, but its exact role in brain function has not been fully understood. A recent search turned up 400 references referring to vitamin C and the effects of the brain, but the mystery still remains. Since the 1960s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vitamin C in autism? Has vitamin C been used in the treatment of autism? I was only able to find only one study in which vitamin C was evaluated as an intervention in autism. The study was initiated by Dolske. The study consisted of a 30 week double blind, placebo controlled trial of 52 mg/lb. per day as a treatment for 18 autistic children (ages 6 to 19) in a residential setting. Statistically significant improvement on various outcome measures was reported. But vitamin C is extremely safe, even in massive doses, so it would be well to find out what the optimal dose for autism might be. We might ask ourselves, what is the safe dose of vitamin C? A lot. Vitamin C expert Robert Cathcart proposes the quot;bowel tolerance quot; method of determining one s own vitamin C requirement. You simply take increasingly large amounts of vitamin C each day until your body reaches the vitamin C saturation point. Going beyond that level, the vitamin C becomes a laxative. For most people in good health, the well tolerated level tends to be about 10 to 15 grams of vitamin C per day. If you start to get sick, your body requires more vitamin C, and your quot;bowel tolerance quot; may rise to 30 or 100 or more grams per day. But, according to Cathcart and other experts on vitamin C, increasing your input when you are sick will dramatically abbreviate your illness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Art Of Tattoos Essay It may seem a little grandiose to talk about the art of tattooing, but when you are truly familiar with what goes into being a professional tattooist, you recognize that there is good reason these men and women are called tattoo artists. Rather than actual canvas or some sort of specialized paper, the tattoo artist imprints his or her creations onto the skin of a living, breathing human being. This creates both challenges and benefits that other types of artists will never experience. For one thing, a tattoo artist s work constantly moves from one location to another, rather than being displayed on a wall in a home or a museum or in the pages of a book. Unlike other canvases, however, skin is very unforgiving. There is no erasing of mistakes or throwing out a first attempt and starting fresh on a new sheet of paper. In addition, receiving a tattoo can be rather uncomfortable, so the tattoo artist must constantly be aware of the need to make his or her canvas more comfortable or to reassure it. • 28. Organizational Structure And Its Impact On Organizational... Wilfredo Hernandez Prof. Coomber SG 91 Over the past few years many changes have been made by organizations, in the way that they do business. One of these changes has been going from rigid and centralized organizations, to now taking advantage of flexible and decentralized structures. An organizational structure outlines the way the job tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated. The effect a decentralized structure has on managers and employees is that, the gap between who can make the decision has been spread. With a decentralized structure the process of decision making comes down to the manager that is closest to the action. The impact on organizational strategies has been that organizations have to adapt to the new structures to fit in to be able to compete more efficiently and effectively. Firstly, one of the common organizational designs we see today is the simple structure. The simple structure design has a low degree of departmentalization, wide spans of control, centralized in a single person, and little formalization. Examples of organizations that use the simple structural model are small retail stores, and electronic firms run by a hard driving entrepreneur.
