Documentation in Software Engineering
Documentation in Software Engineering An Overview of Documenting Software Engineering in
General as well as Specifics in Requirements Engineering Introduction Software documentation is an
integral part of the software development process. For many different kinds of systems, different
attributes of the system such as performance, reliability, security, and modifiability are equally as
important as the output of the system. Software architecture documentation is an important component
of this process because it allows for cooperation, synchronization, collaboration, on different elements
that need to be documented and communicated among different parties that are stakeholders in the
system. The documentation can serve many parties that have a stake in the system such as the
designers, the developers, the project manager, the end users, the investors, and even the marketing
department. However, the documentation process can often be challenging because many times the
documentation process in considered one of the lowest priorities amongst the project team.
Furthermore, the software development can include a scope that can often evolve quickly with new
updates and new builds. Despite the challenges the software documentation can serve as an invaluable
asset to all of the stakeholders both now as well as into the future. This paper will look at some of the
different types of documentation that is required as well as some of the best practices that can

Interaction Between The Roman And Celtic Civilizations
Interaction between the Roman and Celtic civilizations
Between 750 BC and 12 BC the Celts were the most powerful people in Northern central Europe. The
Celts consisted of a number of tribes that all spoke a similar common language as well as sharing
common elements of culture and art but were not a cohesive group like the Romans or Egyptians. The
Celts were widely spread through Europe from the British Isles to Galatia more commonly known
today as Austria, Switzerland, southern France and Spain, these areas consisted of multiple different
political organisations ruled by various leaders. North west Europe was inhabited by three main Celtic
groups; The Gauls who lived in ancient France, Britons who lived in Great Britain and Gaels who
lived in Ireland. The Celts were first mentioned in Greek written sources around 500 BC when they
were referred to as Keltoi. Other sources such as those of the Romans also mention the Celtic groups
for example texts from Alexander the Great. When the Romans invaded and Conquered Europe most
of Celtic culture, history and technology was destroyed, the only elements surviving were those such
as their language.
Much if not all of the interaction between the Romans and Celts was based on conflict, battles and
wars between the two groups occurred frequently, generally as a result of one group wanting the
others resources, land and slaves, as well as riches such as, iron, lead, zinc, copper, silver and gold.
Conflict first began between the

Thesis Statement On Sea Cucumbers
I aspire to be a scientist who makes real connections between seemingly disparate problems or
challenges and finds human value in scientific knowledge. For my doctoral research, I want to study
unfamiliar marine organisms in unfamiliar habitats to contribute to new knowledge and discover new
species. To these ends, I will connect my graduate thesis on sea cucumbers with my ongoing research
on mesophotic reefs. Sea cucumbers (Echinodermata: Holothuroidea) are diverse worm like organisms
that evolved and diversified for over 400 million years. Mesophotic reefs are found at 30 to 150 meter
depths and developed after the last Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. In my country, the Philippines,
these deep reefs offer something of a last hope for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Duckworth Industries
The following is a case study analysis of Duckworth Industries, in particular the company?s incentive
compensation programs: 1 2) What are the different incentive compensation plan options covered in
the case and what problems does each plan solve? Mr. Duckworth believed in the power of incentive
to guide management action. In order to better align the interest of the management with the
shareholders, Mr. Duckworth implemented a variety of new incentive compensation programs: The
first incentive program implemented addressed tardiness and attendance. Basically, under this plan an
attendance bonus ($0.60/hour) would be awarded to any plant level employee who was never more
than two minutes tardy for work each pay period. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The EVA is calculated annually for each business unit by using a formula that ?automatically adjusts
the baseline for calculating next year?s bonus to reflect the actual performance of the prior year?
(Duckworth Case, UOP). Therefore, since employees? bonus is tied directly to this formula, and the
formula is based on the performance of the prior year in the old department, it will be difficult to get
an accurate bonus figure for the employee?s first year in the new unit. 4.) How should an incentive
compensation plan adopted by a firm relate to its industry type, market stability, and to the economic
health of the firm? Regardless of the industry, an incentive compensation plan needs to have realistic
goals that management can achieve. An incentive compensation plan needs to ensure that the bonuses
paid out do not have a negative impact on the economic health of the company. If a bonus is scaled to
revenue growth, the bonuses paid out may reduce the overall profitability of a company. Additionally,
in unstable markets, it may be impossible to achieve revenue growth goals for a period of time. In an
unstable market, a company may not reach their sales revenues, but they may outperform their peer
companies. In the case study, Duckworth searched to implement an incentive plan that drives senior
management to create wealth. Using a plan like EVA, a company doesn?t need to worry about industry
type, market stability, and economic health. Since EVA goals are

On November 22, 2015, in the Niche at Mount St. Mary s University from 9 pm to 10. I conducted an
observation of the students in the Niche, those who walked in and those who were already there.
Students tend to stay with people they feel comfortable with, have the same characteristic as them, do
the same thing as them or some students prefer to be alone. In today society, technology is everywhere
and everyone has it.
I choose the niche because it s at this time that students come into the library to study, do homework
or socialize. I notice some pattern and trends after the observation. During the observation, I notice
that who you associate with is based on certain characteristics that you have in common. I also notice

Rate Of Reaction Between Hydrochloric Acid And Sodium T
Experimental Investigation Rate of Reaction
Research Topic:
The topic includes the effect of concentration and temperature on the rate of reaction between
hydrochloric acid (HCl) and Sodium Thiosulphate (Hypo solution). There are multiple ways to test the
rate of reaction between two substances, however the experiment we will be conducting involves
placing a conical flask directly over a black coloured x and recording the time it takes for the x to
become invisible after the two solutions react with each other. This is simple and direct as multiple
tests can be undertaken at different concentration levels and multiple temperatures.
Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid Reaction

Aim:
The overall aim of this experimental investigation is to further research and investigate the factors of
temperature and concentration and how these two elements can alter or change the speed or rate of a
reaction. The aim will be investigated thoroughly, with multiple experiments being conducted to
ultimately fulfil this aim, with as much detail and data as possible so an in depth conclusion can be
delivered.
Hypothesis:
It is hypothesised that when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is increased,
the speed of the reaction will also increase, whereas when the temperature at which the chemical
reaction takes place is decreased, the speed of the reaction will decrease. This hypothesis correlates to
the investigation because when the Hydrochloric acid is at a higher temperature, the solution that is
mixed with it, in this case Sodium Thiosulphate, the rate at which the reaction occurs will be much
faster. Whereas, when the temperature of the Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the Sodium Thiosulphate
solution that will be mixed in will result in the rate at which the reaction occurs being much slower. It
is also hypothesised that when the concentration of a solution in a chemical reaction is increased, the
speed of the reaction increases. Whereas, on the other hand, when the concentration of the solution in
the chemical reaction is decreased, the speed at which the reaction occurs will be far slower. This

My Father Was a Paradox Essay
I ll miss my father, I already miss him, greatly... I ll miss his stories, his laughter, the fire of his
opinions, and especially the quiet strength of him. Yet, I think it s one of the truths of the world that
the people we miss the most are also the ones that we can t miss, because we carry so much of them
with us.
My father was something of a paradox. On the one hand he stands out in my mind for his stories, his
wit, and the fire of his opinions. Anyone who s argued with him, and that s quite a few of us, knew
that he had strong opinions and argued them with zeal. On the other hand, at the same time, he was a
quiet man, who kept a lot of what he felt on the inside, someone who taught more by example than by
lecture.

We never discussed it again, but what he said affected me all my life. For questions like that he didn t
teach by giving me the answers, but by getting me to ask the questions and answer them myself.
I ll never, in this life at least, be able to go to him for any more answers, but as long as I live, I ll do
what he taught me... ask the questions, think, and find my own answers. And in my heart and in my
memory, he ll be there by example, guiding me. And with him will be his stories. He was full of
stories. There was nothing he didn t have a story or a joke for. And he was always such a wonderful
subject for stories.
I cannot forget his tale about sneaking into the doctor s office with his friend so they could memorize
the eye chart and pass the medical exam to join the Navy. Stories that end with a father looking down
at a little boy, dazed, scared and bruised and saying simply, Don t do that. You could hurt yourself.
Stories about the man who unscrewed the table leg that came between him and the pretty woman
sitting next to him at a dinner party. Stories about the fellow, out sailing, faced with bad weather
rolling in who looks up and yells, Knock it off, Lord. only to have the weather roll away. Stories about
anchors thrown overboard before they were tied to the anchor rode.

Comparsion of Jack London s The Call of the Wild and John...
This is the four line epigraph present on the first page of The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Before
you try to find how this section of Atavism by John Myers O Hara, relates to the theme of The Call of
the Wild, you must understand the words used. Nomadic means moving around and not staying in one
place. O Hara uses these words in a weird order, because it seems like it should say that your nomadic
longings are leaping. The first line of this epigraph says that if you stay in one place for a long time,
your instincts (old longings from ancestors) to move from place to place (to be nomadic) are going to
flare up. Chafing means to cause annoyance. By using the phrase Chafing at custom s chain O Hara
means that you are being annoyed by traditional ways. Custom s chain refers to these traditional ways.
Therefore the feelings to want to become nomadic are clashing with the feelings of following tradition
s ways. Brumal means wintry. O Hara is using this as a metaphor with the direct meaning being
waking up from winter hibernation, but the deeper meaning is the realization or awakening of the need
to break away from traditional ways. Ferine means wild and strain in this case means type. When O
Hara uses ferine as an adjective to describe strain, he is referring to the wild side we each have due to
our natural instincts. All in all Old longings nomadic leap, Chafing at custom s chain; Again from its
brumal sleep wakens the ferine strain, means we are

Media Bias In Politics
Today s media has displayed countless ways they show media bias. Many channels have depicted a
different side to one story and base information on a political party in which the channel supports.
Each news source has one goal, and that is to state what will make the chosen party to have a good
platform for the public to see. In the series of events that have occurred recently one can see how
different news sources have pushed for what each channel believes is the main point needed to be
crossed and have shared beliefs in either a liberal or conservative way. One of the greatest popular
topics being watched closely is the 2016 presidential election. In a current event Donald John Trump,

as a report and manipulate the situation as well as make the story more juicy than the other network.
CNN shows bias in this event by being very one sided only showing how wrong Trump was about this
situation. In a CNN article by Eugene Scott states after Trump have his statement of abortion
punishment that, Donald Trump reversed his position on abortion, arguing that federal laws should not
be changed to outlaw abortion (CNN), focussing on bashing Trump for his wishy washy ways to trt
people to to turn against him. What both CNN and cbs fail to report is that Donald Trump was asked if
the procedure was made illegal would there be punishment. This shows how the mainstream media
can leave out information they think is not neccasary for people to

Bias In Newsweek Magazine In The United States
Media bias is defined as the perception that the media is reporting the news in a partial or prejudiced
manner (Dugger). This kind of bias can be observed everywhere and in every kind of situation.
American people get almost all of their information from popular news outlets or some other form of
media. The media is often guilty for taking advantage of their power and covering stories with a
certain political bias. This is obviously an enormous problem. It was not hard to find an example of
such bias and the influence it has on public opinion.
Newsweek magazine is the second largest weekly magazine in the United States (Fung). Although
Newsweek Magazine is now facing serious financial trouble, in 2012 they had over a million
subscribers (Fung). That is a significant number of people reading and being predisposed. Newsweek
is often accused of having a liberal bias and their magazines covering the candidates in 2012 was no
different.
On January 23rd, 2012, Newsweek writer Andrew Sullivan wrote an article covering presidential
candidate Barack Obama. The front cover displayed a serious and wise looking Obama, with the ...

then they are the few that still read them in print, either via the newspaper or a magazine like

readers and viewers are left uneducated. For example, readers of the Newsweek magazine were made
to believe that, whether true or not, Romney wasn t even a real choice for president. These readers
then went on to vote, without really knowing the facts, and therefore creating an outcome that affected
the entire nation. The most important thing an American citizen can have is knowledge and media bias

Asad s Theory Of White Norm And The Ku Klux Klan
White supremacy is a term that is traditionally defined as the belief that white people are superior to
those of all other races, especially the black race, and should therefore dominate society. White
supremacy is a deep seeded ideology that, throughout history, has impacted religion, theocracy and the
structure of our organizations. Although Christianity isn t inherently white supremacy, white
supremacy can be analyzed as a religious event, as it involves the power that is synonymous with
religion and the liminal state of traditional rites of passage. This paper will explain Asad s theory of
power, summarize Turner s account of liminality, and analyze white supremacy and the Ku Klux Klan
(KKK) using these two theoretical models.
White supremacy originated in the mid fifteenth century when the European powers began taking
African people as slaves in their quest for power and land. However, it wasn t until the late eighteenth
century when the theological association of Christianity and whiteness allowed white supremacy to
take on the cultural values consistent in Asad and Turner s theories. White supremacy then became
institutionally perpetuated and began to impact every facet of life. White supremacy has been used to
rationalize genocide, enslavement and prejudice. The Ku Klux Klan also became a representation of
white supremacy. The Ku Klux Klan saw its primary goal as the reestablishment of white supremacy
which became directly linked to white Protestant

Columbine Shootings And Its Impact On School Security
Introduction Tuesday April 20th, 1999 began like any other day. Parents went to work, and the
children went off to school. Neither worried about the other, or how their day would turn out. But,
hours later everything changed ( Columbine Highschool Massacre. ). Little did the residents of
Columbine, Colorado know their high school would be a statistic for one of the largest school
massacres in US History. On this day, two teenage boys were responsible for killing 12 innocent
students and a teacher, wounding 23 more students, and then killing themselves (Miller). While a
horrific event, the Columbine tragedy improved the safety in schools by upgrading security systems,

By this time Klebold and Harris had both taken their life and at least 75 police officers were
surrounding Columbine High School. About two hours later, the SWAT team entered the east side of
the building finding injured victims waiting for assistance. Teacher David Sanders was shot and had
been bleeding for three hours before getting help (Kohn). Sanders was the last of 15 people to die at
Columbine that day. Twenty three wounded were taken to hospitals. Six had brain or spinal injuries.
Several nearly bled to death. Doctors at six hospitals worked on wounded children all through the
night, and saved every one of them. (Kohn). The security during the massacre at Columbine High
School was minimal. Senator Dianne Feinstein said There were two armed law enforcement officers at

currently houses only two people). As mentioned before, I like space efficiency. Then again, I am from
a lower socioeconomic class than most students at Dartmouth. So, my viewpoint on the size of the
President s House is definitely colored by my personal economic situation. ii. What impresses me
most about the President s House is just how big the lawn is. The house itself is large, but the estate is
even larger. I find it interesting that we (Americans) emphasize the importance of having both a large
house and a lot of land. I suppose that if nothing is around the large structure it looks even bigger. c.

America s Road to Independence Essay
America s Road to Independence
America s Road to Independence:
In the year 1783 the Treaty of Paris was signed, granting America their freedom from Great Britain.
There were many reasons why the colonists wanted their freedom and separation from their mother
country of England. Great Britain laid down many laws and Acts which were the main reasons leading
up to the revolutionary war, otherwise known as America s War for Independence. For eleven years
even before the actual revolution started, Great Britain bullied the thirteen original colonies with
several harsh acts and proclamations. The Proclamation of 1763 came first. It prohibited settlements
west of the Appalachian Mountains and trading in that area without a license. ... Show more content

A year later the Stamp Act was repealed because of the violent acts that the Sons of Liberty
committed, a violent liberal group. In 1767 the Townshend Acts were passed. There were duties
placed on colonial imports of lead, glass, paint, paper, and tea. It resulted in a Boycott of British
goods. It also legalized the Writs of Assistance, which were search warrants (Encarta 99). In 1770
Crispus Attuckus and followers gathered at a Boston customs house. Several colonists threw
snowballs at soldiers, which ended in the deaths of five patriots. This was called the Boston Massacre.
Innocent people were being killed which turned over a new leaf in the rise to revolution. In 1770 all of
the Townshend acts were repealed except for the tax on tea. This lead to the Tea Act of 1773, which
stated that only the East India Company could import and sell tea. When the very first shiploads of tea
arrived in the thirteen colonies, the Sons of Liberty were ready to act. In South Carolina they locked
the tea in warehouses, in New York and Philadelphia they forced ships to turn around without
unloading their tea, and in Maryland they lit ships on fire that carried tea. The worst was in Boston
where the Sons of Liberty boarded all of the ships and dumped the tea into the harbor. This event was
named the Boston Tea Party (King, McRae, Zola 95) In March of 1774 the Intolerable acts were

Lean Six Sigma Analysis
Now a day s global market in the world and all companies are looking up making new improvements
that drive bottom line results. In that process all organizations and companies are turning to process
improvement methodologies such as Lean six sigma (LSS). Continual improvement, as one of the
objectives of a quality management system is achieved by the improvement of all processes and
activities at a particular stage of the production cycle. Continual process improvement is also the only
way how to survive and succeed among competitors. The management of the company will always be
looking for opportunities that will enhance the effectiveness of the company s processes. Lean Six

productivity and improve quality of process outputs. As a customer oriented managerial strategy, it
emphasizes that imperfection is an opportunity for improvement. The Lean Six Sigma (LSS) system

The Diary Of A Young Girl
Annelies Maie Frank was a writer and a diarist. She was one of the most discussed Jewish victims of
the Holocaust. Frank had an impact on the world by providing future generations with a direct
testimony from a seemingly ordinary girl who became one of millions to be pointlessly murdered
because of their ethnicity. In 1947 the diary and thoughts of an innocent thirteen year old female were
published; but the thoughts weren t so every day, they were the thoughts of Anne Frank. Frank s diary
the diary of a Young Girl, documents her experiences hiding during time Germany occupied the
Netherlands in WWII. Despite the circumstances for Jewish people in the Netherlands, Anne s interest
are quiet typical for a young adolescent girl. One of Frank s first diary entries starts off with her sating
that she hopes that she can reveal everything in it, because she feels she never had someone to confide
in. In writing her diary, Anne Frank was in a unique position to make the world understand what it was
like to live a life of hiding. Having to hide her existence in exchange for a slight chance for survival
during the Nazi regime.
For Anne s thirteenth birthday she received an autographed book from her father Otto, which she then

of her life, Frank also discusses some of the changes that had taken place in the Netherlands since the

I was given permission to conduct my child study project in PAP community Foundation (Bukit Batok
East Education Centre) by Miss Denise Lim, principal of the centre. The teacher present at all my
observation sessions was Miss Moriah. All the observation sessions were conducted in a classroom
setting in the Hibiscus room. The first two observation sessions were at least an hour long with 15 20
minutes of frontal teaching and another 40 to 45 minutes of classwork in their group tables. The last
session was carried out in the same setting but at a different timing with half an hour of snack time
and half an hour of emotional awareness session. The frontal teaching part was carried out with the
students seated in their groups on the floor facing the teacher and the whiteboard. Students were
assigned to carry out their classwork at three different group coloured tables namely, red, yellow and

The Impact Of Technology On The Music Industry Essay
Technology has brought many advantageous opportunities to the music industry in the area of
production and distribution. Besides popular and valuable instruments such as the electric guitar and
the synthesizer, technology has brought us new production equipment such as high fidelity
microphones, re mastering equipment and CD ROMs that provide us with a crystal clear sound of the
recording. The development of these equipment has allowed the audience to experience a higher
quality of sound coming from both live concerts and recordings.
Easiness of transportation that came along with the technological developments in the sector, has
allowed the record labels to distribute music all around the world. During the 1950s turbojet engines
were cleared for civilian use, and with new civil jet engine cargo aircraft distribution of almost any
item became easier and faster than ever before. The evolution of the computer and the Internet was
also a great distribution advantage for the music industry and should not be underestimated. New
sound formats, such as the MP3, have made music distribution easier. Companies could now provide
selling licenses to companies that would allow users to download certain songs from the Internet at a
very high speed. The music industry also got many opportunities for advertisements since they were
now not limited to billboards, TV and radio. Many companies can now promote their records by
playing a preview for the user, on certain websites.

Costco Is An American Wholesale Corporation
Costco is an American wholesale corporation that operates based on the membership warehouse club,
while Target is a retailer corporation that specializes in discount merchandise. Even though both
Costco and Target have different target operation, they are the top two largest companies in the retailer
industry in the United States. In order to analyze and compare the financial health of these two
company, it is important to recognize these three key terms: liquidity, solvency, and profitability.
Liquidity is a financial term used to determine the ability of a company to pay off its short term debts,
which will be due within the next year or in an operating cycle. In another word, liquidity is a very
important indicator to evaluate a company s financial health. Liquidity ratio shows a comparison
between the most liquid assets and short term obligations of a company. A higher liquidity expresses
that the company has not only a better ability to pay off its short term debts but also a greater amount
of cash for an unexpected needs. In another word, when a company has a low liquidity, the company
may face a risk to pay its short term debt and struggle to fund its long term operation. The current ratio
is one of the most common and useful terms used to measure the liquidity of a company. It suggests
the capability of a company to pay back its liabilities with its assets. The current ratio is computed by
dividing current assets by current liabilities. According to a financial

California Drought Analysis
Did you know that in California water is so scarce that farmers are making more money selling water
their supply Than planting food? As we all know California has been experiencing a drought for
several years now, the current drought started in 2011. California is changing a lot of their rules and
regulations to help conserve water during this period of time. Different things that is happening is that
the way people use water has been changed, the statewide water conservation dropping below
eighteen percent in August 2016, and five million out of fifteen million dollars was given to private
well owners and small water systems. California s water reservation is playing a big role in their
current drought situation. California has made rules against water wasting that block, stifle or threaten
homeowners from reducing or eliminating the watering of vegetation or lawns during a declared
drought emergency in violation of existing law. They started a new regulation they go by, they now
have to have monthly water checks for their urban water suppliers. All of this is because if not taken

The Creation Story In Skywoman Falling
In the excerpt Skywoman Falling from the book Braiding Sweetgrass written by Robin Kimmerer, We
say that humans have the least experience with how to live and thus the most to learn we must look to
our teachers among the other species for guidance (9). Even though the human species think they
know almost everything, they have been on earth for the least amount of time in comparison to other
species; therefore, humans have the most learning to do. Skywoman Falling involves a protagonist,
Skywoman, who creates the earth from her bare hands and her knowledge from the Skyworld.
Skywoman created the earth from her own ideas, free will, and knowledge. Another creation story is
Paradise Lost by John Milton, which involves mainly Satan, God, Adam, and Eve. God has all of the
past, present, and future knowledge; however, Satan is trying to ruin all of God s plans. Satan does this
by shapeshifting and tempting Adam and Eve. Skywoman Falling involves a protagonist, Skywoman,
along with many different animals. In the beginning of this short story, Skywoman falls from a hole in
the Skyworld, but soon animals come help her to create a safe landing. The animals then assisted
Skywoman in collecting mud from the bottom of the sea, and she then placed the mud on a turtle s
back and began to dance around, eventually creating the earth. Another creation story is Paradise Lost
by John Milton. This story is about Satan rebelling against God, and Satan trying to ruin God s plans.

Leo Africanus Book Review
Leo Africanus By, Amin Maalouf
In the book Leo Africanus it is a fictionalized biography of a real person, Hasan al Wazzan. Hasan and
his family were forced to flee to Fez, where he grew up and became a very well off merchant. The
book really gives a clear picture of his family life as a child, his education, his marriages, his travels,
and his bitter sweet reminiscence of exile. The narrator of Amin Maalouf s historical novel, Hasan al
Wazzan who came to be named Leo Africanus was born in 1488, in the weakening days of Moorish
Granada. At the age of 4, Hasan and his family went into exile, like many other Muslims and Jews
who declined to accept the new faith and managed to flee from ... Show more content on

He finds a lifelong friend at school, Harun, and together they roam the streets of the city, looking for
adventure. Hasan accompanies his uncle on his first tactful mission, and as their caravan roam the
huge Sahara, his uncle fills in the historic gaps for young Hasan, teaching him the art of storytelling.
His tone was so reassuring, Hasan later recalls, that it made me breathe once more the odors of the
Granada of my birth, and his prose was so bewitching that my camel seemed to move forwards in time
with the rise and fall of its rhythms. When the uncle dies, Hasan takes command of the caravan and
returns home with his first wife, while his sister Miriam is forced to the lepers quarter in Fez.
At the end of the fifteenth century, however, Fez was still enjoying great commercial prosperity and
was at the peak of its fame as a seat of learning, its mosques, and libraries being the resort of students
from many parts of the Muslim world, it was therefore the most natural haven for the exiles from
Granada.
Next, his travels took him eastward across the Sahara to Egypt en route to Mecca for the Hajj, the
annual Pilgrimage. On the boat trip up the Nile he met a woman who gave him the use of her house
for his break in Cairo. It was there that he met and married the beautiful Nur, widow of a nephew and
rival to the Ottoman caliph, Selim the Grim. In no other city than Cairo, does

Protect and Grow. Conversations with Financial Consultant. In the last several years, as we have seen
some of the major financial conglomerates collapse, when Wall Street carries some negative
connotation, investors attention turns to the companies who work primarily with Main Street,
specifically those folks who create capital and own assets. A lot of these businessess would not strike
you as super wealthy, yet it is the small businesses that proved to be the most resilient during the hard

Sales Supervisor. The knowledge acquired allowed me to have a lot better understanding of many
aspects of this business and bring more value to the clients. OK, Let s get back to the original
question. Say, a potential client came to you not with 20k, but several million dollars. But these kinds
of clients already have their own tax and legal advisors whose opinion means a lot to the clients. And
in case their opinion differs from your advice... I always applaud when my existing or potential clients

Certified Public Accountant is the highest level for a tax professional. There are many bookkeepers

Persuasive Essay On Aerophobia
Aggravating Aerophobia
Huge fires burning up the runway, thousands of people screaming and running for their lives, but most
of all the fear that you could have been one of them. Why would you not be afraid of flying, also
known as aerophobia, when 583 people died in a single plane crash? On March 27,1977, plenty of us
changed our minds about flying in planes and helicopters when the biggest plane crash in history
occurred on the Los Rodeos Airport runway. Aerophobia affects umpteem people and could hold you
back from life s many adventures. If you are one of the millions of sufferers of aerophobia, it may be
helpful to know the origin, the causes of it, symptoms, and how to overcome it.
Not the entire population knows what causes aerophobia, or even the origin of it, which could be
terribly unhelpful if you are trying to overcome it. Actually, aerophobia could be from a countless
number of other fears, either all combined together or just a single one. These can include the fears of
combined spaces and heights. It can also be connected to any crashes, havoc, and other experiences
you have heard of or been involved in. One other cause may be if you have a certain sickness, which
would probably just embarrass you. Even if we can agree on what causes it, the origin is not very
clear. According to sources, the actual word was first recorded from about 1765 1775. Later in time,
near 1911, came the first known use of aerophobia. All in all, the causes of aerophobia vary

Bullies Vs Dictators
Your typical school bully and a country s dictator, what s the difference? When asked this question
many said, One rules the school, while the other one rules a country. . The truth is, there are many
differences between the two, but with differences comes similarities. What are some differences
between these two tyrannical figures? First, we need to know what a dictator and a school bully is. A
dictator is a ruler with total power over a country. One of the most well known dictators is Adolf
Hitler. Adolf was a dictator who was considered the most terrifying man of his time . A school bully is
a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker. Now that you know
the definitions of each, we can go on into the differences between the two. The most important
difference between the two is why they treat people inadequately. School bullies overpower people
because they feel insecure about themselves. Dictators, on the other hand, treat people atrociously
because they strive for power. The next difference is that a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The initial similarity is their personalities. School bullies and dictators have a conceited, haughty
personalities. Nevertheless, this makes them think they are superior. Secondly, a school bully and a
dictator abuse, control, intimidate, and force others. A school bully forces people to abide by their
rules, even if they are against the law. A dictator also forces people to act in accordance with their
laws. If they contravene, they will have to face the consequences. Ultimately, a school bully and a
dictator are both excellent speakers. Both figures can get themselves out of a sticky situation. When a
bully gets questioned by an administrator, they speak smoothly and often avoid getting punished.
Likewise, a dictator is very keen, therefore he has the ability to trick an entire population into
believing whatever he or she

Stereotypes In The Film The Green Berets
Many films have been made about the Vietnam War over the decades, however, the events and people
that many of these films portray are not historically accurate. Many of these films have been
embellished to satisfy the expectations of the viewers. Rather than producing a film that reflects the
true nature and the events of the Vietnam War, the movie industry invents fictional characters and uses
stereotypes in unison with fictional backstories that are meant to keep the audience s attention
throughout the film. The goal of the film is not to tell the truth, but rather to entertain people while
earning profits from the film. In comparison to the average filmmaker, historians seek to find the
actual truth of events that have occurred through the use of documents and first hand accounts to
understand history.
When historians are faced with the task of reconstructing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Negative feelings about the war at the time made it difficult for the film to be produced. The makers of
the film wanted to reflect that the American soldiers were the heroes who save the day and the VC
were the evil opponents. Furthermore, the Vietnamese were reflected as the innocent people who
needed saving. The Deer Hunter premiered in 1978 and decided to show a different perspective of the
war. The focus of the film was not to focus on the stereotype of the American soldiers being the heroes
who save the day, but to show the how average men living average lives bond and prepare to go off to
war. Moreover, the film was made to get the audience to relate more to the characters themselves
rather than the war. Additionally, the film still kept the stereotype of the VC being evil and cold who
tortured the men. The emotions that the film was meant to invoke was that it was the enemy who
tortured us. Not all the films made about the Vietnam War focused on the actual war or on the
perspective the American soldiers who fought in the

A Sieve By Kamala Markandaya
Imperialism is when a nation dominates the politics, economy, and society of a weaker, foreign nation.
The motives behind this are for economic benefits, spreading of a religion, nationalism, and racism.
While this benefits the imperialists, it can do damage to the imperialized country. For example, it can
change the social structure, education system, ideology, distribution of wealth or economy in favor of
the dominating nation. This is the case when the British exploited India for their resources, calling
India the Jewel of the Crown for producing a huge profit India s .state during British rule can be seen
in the novel Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya, which follows the lifetime of an Indian woman
named Rukmani who had faced many changes and painful experiences due British imperialization.
Throughout the course of her life, Rukmani can be seen interacting with a white man named Kenny,
who was a doctor that once treated her so she may bear a boy. Kenny is a complicated character,
helping the Indian people yet viewing them as inferior and treats them coldly. Rukmani and Kenny s
relationship with each other is a microcosm of the social, economic, and political dynamics between
Britain and India around the mid twentieth century. In the relationship between Rukmani and Kenny,
Kenny establishes dominance over Rukmani, looking down on her and viewing her as a fool for
suffering in silence. This relationship reflects the social dynamics

Analyzing The Distinctive Sorts Of Management Structures
Summary
This report clarifies the distinctive sorts of management structures that are being used, their
advantages and disadvantages, and gives illustrations of where to utilise each one. Furthermore, it
examines different variables that ought to be considered when surveying management structures in
quickly changing economic situations.
Introduction
At the point when another representative joins an organisation one of the first things they learn is the
organisation s management structure. This incorporates understanding the working associations with
their manager, subordinates and team. Management factors in every type of business from large
multinational corporations to small enterprises. A Company that has 150 staff will not need the same
management style to that of a small 6 member staff team.
Picking the right management structure guarantees an organisation proceeds with development, happy
employees and gainful returns for the shareholders. Picking an unsuitable structure makes pressures in
the middle of employees and supervisors, permits wasteful work practices to thrive and decreases
organisation profits. In the most pessimistic scenario an inaccurate management structure can prompt
organisation closure.
Sadly, numerous organisations place confidence in their association s management structure is right,
static and never calls for evolving. In any case, such suspicions are guileless and as the pace of
progress increments, there is a need to persistently evaluate the

Examples Of Power And Authority In The Hunger Games
Power and authority is the theme that I have chosen for my making connections essay. My four chosen
texts are the book series The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the film series Harry Potter based on
the books by J.K Rowling, the film The Last of the Mohicans by Michael Mann and the book Private
Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo.
Authority is the right to give orders, make decisions and enforce obedience. Whereas power is the
possession of authority, control or an influence by which a person manipulates the actions of others.
An example of a person with such power is President Snow. President Coriolanus Snow possesses
total power over the Capitol and Panem. He s manipulative, merciless and brutal. Poisoning political
rivals; making countless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hanley has hated Charlie ever since he stuck up for Tommo. He saw it as an act of defiance and it didn
t settle well with him. As a sergeant; Hanley does have authority over the soldiers and he makes sure
that they know this. He continuously torments them and threatens them into obeying his every order.
So when Charlie disobeys a particularly ridiculous order, he is immediately charged with cowardice
and is sentenced to death.
While Magua did not achieve his goal of gaining authority, but instead got the revenge he needed,
Hanley had authority and used it as an advantage to get what he desired. Both Magua and Hanley are
determined in order to obtain what they want, no matter what it took them. Even if that meant taking
the lives of the innocent.
I have come to the conclusion that authority and power are two separate ideas but both relate together
as one concept. Power can reinforce authority and authority is one of the primary sources of power.
Bearing this in mind, I feel that these four texts use a wide range of different examples to portray this
theme of power and authority, which I believe was shown as a clear message to the readers or viewers
of any of these four texts. Every man who has power is impelled to abuse it. CHARLES DE
MONTESQUIEU. Just because people are in authority, if it doesn t seem right, don t do it. If it
violates your own principles, don t do it. STEVE

Porsche Exposed
1) Do you believe that Porsche s management is appropriately concerned with stockholder wealth?
Does Porsche s ownership structure work to the benefit or detriment of public shareholders?
Although Porsche is publicly traded, the company is controlled by only two stockholders, the Porsche
and Piéch families. As the quotation by Holger Härter makes clear, the two families hold exclusive
shareholder influence over management. An interesting point for class discussion is whether the
families actually ever exercise these rights. It is not clear from the information or evidence presented
that they influence or direct current management headed by Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking. They may
simply agree with current leadership and therefore remain quietly ... Show more content on

The objective would be to match dollar cash inflows from US sales with dollar cash outflows in US
dollar debt service (principal and interest). Porsche has chosen not to use this approach most likely
because it does not do debt. The firm has not needed debt to finance its operating activities and
investing activities under the current management team (since 1993), and it also does not
philosophically believe in using debt (see page 5 of the case). A good point of discussion with
students, however, is that a company does not necessarily need debt to use debt. The benefits of
leverage are well known, and although many successful companies today do not choose to use debt
(Intel, Dell, Exxon Mobil, Microsoft to name a few), this does not necessarily prevent Porsche from
revisiting this judgement. The benefit of using a financing hedge like dollar denominated debt is that it
would take less active management and would not require a major outlay of capital out front like
currency options require (option premiums).
Current Strategy. The company has been hedging the US dollar long position by estimating its annual
US dollar sales and hedging that exposure by purchasing put options on the US dollar (the right to sell
US dollars for euros at a specific exchange rate). The company has been purchasing these options in
what it refers to as a three year rolling hedge in which it hedges expected US dollar sales three years

Leading By Example
The greatest leaders of all time try to lead by example. I say try because it is impossible to entirely
lead by example at every moment. Due to the fact that everyone is different and views things
differently, it is very difficult to be a leader who everyone supports. Many leaders have partially lead
by example as much as they could, and have made huge impacts on the world because of the changes
they have made. But until there is a leader who everyone can support unanimously, it is impossible to
completely lead by example. There have been some amazing and successful leaders over the years, but
there has also been some very terrible and cynical leaders. Adolf Hitler believed he was leading by
example, and many people thought he was as well. He brutally murdered millions, and still many
believed he was leading by example which caused him to be able to start The Holocaust. It took a
Second World War for people to realize that he wasn t leading by example. He was leading in a ...

But throughout history we have had quite a few corruptive leaders, who acted as if they were leading
by example. We have also has some revolutionary leaders who have inspired millions. They lead by
example as much as they could, but because pure perfection doesn t exist, and because of different
opinions people have, a true leader of example doesn t exist. Nobody is perfect, and nobody can lead
by example at every moment of their lives because everyone makes mistakes. Plus, there will always
be negative people in the world who try and blockade growth and change. It is good to try and lead by
example as much as possible, and I think any good leader knows that. Unanimous support, and
perfection is always going to be unreachable, but that is okay. As long as we are able to fight off
malicious leaders and continue to have strong and inspirational leaders then our world will continue to
grow and change for the

The Current State Of Organ Transplantation
In 2009, there were 154,324 patients on the waiting list for an organ in the United States. Because of
the lack of availability of organs, the grim reality is that only 18% received a transplant and 25
patients per day died while still on the waiting list. To alleviate this situation, a nationwide policy of
compensation and incentives for organ donation will be implemented.
The problems plaguing the current state of organ transplantation are more multidimensional than
numbers. Issues are present from the national level all the down to the individual patient. Right at the
onset of the entire process, identifying potential donors is difficult and problematic to subject to a set
of standardized criteria. One of the reasons for this is that the sources of organs are varied. Still, the
primary source of organ donation is cadavers. To certify death, the accepted criteria is that of brain
death. After certification, another issue is ensuring the condition of the organs is maintained in a
manner acceptable to be transplanted. Yet another issue is that the list is not static. The condition of
patients can unfortunately deteriorate to the point where their eligibility to be placed on the list is lost.
Additionally, given the chronic shortage of organs available and the extended amount of time some
patients have to wait, some patients die before they are reached on the list.
There is also a financial aspect to the process. It begins with classifying the processes involved as
organ

State Trooper Research Paper
Have you thought about what you want to do after high school i have thought about it over and over.
After hard thinking I came to conclusion what i would want to be. I would want to be a Arkansas State
Trooper. The history of the Troopers, is that on march 19th it was approved that arkansas had a state
police department. When it first started out, they were just seen as rangers . By 1948, the state trooper
had grew in size, were there were now over sixtyfive officers, including highway patrol and criminal
investigation. In the same year the state police stated being called as highway patrol as troopers . By
the year 1957 the state police had doubled in size. At this point in time every county had their own

But you always have to keep in mind that you could work over time and make extra money. Having a
career it is very important to make sure that you have benefits. As having benefits as a state trooper,
they would be social security, disability, healthcare, pension, and also you have time off and to be with
your family. In every job that we people have, there are risk that come with the job. Some of the risk
of being a state trooper is accidents happening, for example a hit and run, when you pull someone
over, and you are hit from the side or if someone is trying to leave a sense. A bigger risk is someone
not wanting to get into trouble for something that they have done and they may try to fight you. For
example, just this year alone there have been 76 police officers who have been killed. Most of them
deaths have came from people who either ran the police officer over, or have shot the officer. But like
i had said, with every job there is there are the benefits, and then there are the risk. That is why I
choose this career over any other ones. I want to be the one who can try to make sure that people are
following the rules of the state, maintaining the highways and the

  • 2. Documentation in Software Engineering Documentation in Software Engineering An Overview of Documenting Software Engineering in General as well as Specifics in Requirements Engineering Introduction Software documentation is an integral part of the software development process. For many different kinds of systems, different attributes of the system such as performance, reliability, security, and modifiability are equally as important as the output of the system. Software architecture documentation is an important component of this process because it allows for cooperation, synchronization, collaboration, on different elements that need to be documented and communicated among different parties that are stakeholders in the system. The documentation can serve many parties that have a stake in the system such as the designers, the developers, the project manager, the end users, the investors, and even the marketing department. However, the documentation process can often be challenging because many times the documentation process in considered one of the lowest priorities amongst the project team. Furthermore, the software development can include a scope that can often evolve quickly with new updates and new builds. Despite the challenges the software documentation can serve as an invaluable asset to all of the stakeholders both now as well as into the future. This paper will look at some of the different types of documentation that is required as well as some of the best practices that can facilitate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Interaction Between The Roman And Celtic Civilizations Interaction between the Roman and Celtic civilizations Between 750 BC and 12 BC the Celts were the most powerful people in Northern central Europe. The Celts consisted of a number of tribes that all spoke a similar common language as well as sharing common elements of culture and art but were not a cohesive group like the Romans or Egyptians. The Celts were widely spread through Europe from the British Isles to Galatia more commonly known today as Austria, Switzerland, southern France and Spain, these areas consisted of multiple different political organisations ruled by various leaders. North west Europe was inhabited by three main Celtic groups; The Gauls who lived in ancient France, Britons who lived in Great Britain and Gaels who lived in Ireland. The Celts were first mentioned in Greek written sources around 500 BC when they were referred to as Keltoi. Other sources such as those of the Romans also mention the Celtic groups for example texts from Alexander the Great. When the Romans invaded and Conquered Europe most of Celtic culture, history and technology was destroyed, the only elements surviving were those such as their language. Much if not all of the interaction between the Romans and Celts was based on conflict, battles and wars between the two groups occurred frequently, generally as a result of one group wanting the others resources, land and slaves, as well as riches such as, iron, lead, zinc, copper, silver and gold. Conflict first began between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Thesis Statement On Sea Cucumbers I aspire to be a scientist who makes real connections between seemingly disparate problems or challenges and finds human value in scientific knowledge. For my doctoral research, I want to study unfamiliar marine organisms in unfamiliar habitats to contribute to new knowledge and discover new species. To these ends, I will connect my graduate thesis on sea cucumbers with my ongoing research on mesophotic reefs. Sea cucumbers (Echinodermata: Holothuroidea) are diverse worm like organisms that evolved and diversified for over 400 million years. Mesophotic reefs are found at 30 to 150 meter depths and developed after the last Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. In my country, the Philippines, these deep reefs offer something of a last hope for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Duckworth Industries The following is a case study analysis of Duckworth Industries, in particular the company?s incentive compensation programs: 1 2) What are the different incentive compensation plan options covered in the case and what problems does each plan solve? Mr. Duckworth believed in the power of incentive to guide management action. In order to better align the interest of the management with the shareholders, Mr. Duckworth implemented a variety of new incentive compensation programs: The first incentive program implemented addressed tardiness and attendance. Basically, under this plan an attendance bonus ($0.60/hour) would be awarded to any plant level employee who was never more than two minutes tardy for work each pay period. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The EVA is calculated annually for each business unit by using a formula that ?automatically adjusts the baseline for calculating next year?s bonus to reflect the actual performance of the prior year? (Duckworth Case, UOP). Therefore, since employees? bonus is tied directly to this formula, and the formula is based on the performance of the prior year in the old department, it will be difficult to get an accurate bonus figure for the employee?s first year in the new unit. 4.) How should an incentive compensation plan adopted by a firm relate to its industry type, market stability, and to the economic health of the firm? Regardless of the industry, an incentive compensation plan needs to have realistic goals that management can achieve. An incentive compensation plan needs to ensure that the bonuses paid out do not have a negative impact on the economic health of the company. If a bonus is scaled to revenue growth, the bonuses paid out may reduce the overall profitability of a company. Additionally, in unstable markets, it may be impossible to achieve revenue growth goals for a period of time. In an unstable market, a company may not reach their sales revenues, but they may outperform their peer companies. In the case study, Duckworth searched to implement an incentive plan that drives senior management to create wealth. Using a plan like EVA, a company doesn?t need to worry about industry type, market stability, and economic health. Since EVA goals are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I conducted an observation of the students in the Niche, those who walked in and those who were already there. Students tend to stay with people they feel comfortable with, have the same characteristic as them, do the same thing as them or some students prefer to be alone. In today society, technology is everywhere and everyone has it. I choose the niche because it s at this time that students come into the library to study, do homework or socialize. I notice some pattern and trends after the observation. During the observation, I notice that who you associate with is based on certain characteristics that you have in common. • 7. Rate Of Reaction Between Hydrochloric Acid And Sodium T Experimental Investigation Rate of Reaction Research Topic: The topic includes the effect of concentration and temperature on the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid (HCl) and Sodium Thiosulphate (Hypo solution). There are multiple ways to test the rate of reaction between two substances, however the experiment we will be conducting involves placing a conical flask directly over a black coloured x and recording the time it takes for the x to become invisible after the two solutions react with each other. This is simple and direct as multiple tests can be undertaken at different concentration levels and multiple temperatures. Sodium Thiosulphate and Hydrochloric Acid Reaction Na2S2O3 (aqueous) + 2HCl (aqueous) → 2NaCl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aim: The overall aim of this experimental investigation is to further research and investigate the factors of temperature and concentration and how these two elements can alter or change the speed or rate of a reaction. The aim will be investigated thoroughly, with multiple experiments being conducted to ultimately fulfil this aim, with as much detail and data as possible so an in depth conclusion can be delivered. Hypothesis: It is hypothesised that when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is increased, the speed of the reaction will also increase, whereas when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is decreased, the speed of the reaction will decrease. This hypothesis correlates to the investigation because when the Hydrochloric acid is at a higher temperature, the solution that is mixed with it, in this case Sodium Thiosulphate, the rate at which the reaction occurs will be much faster. Whereas, when the temperature of the Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the Sodium Thiosulphate solution that will be mixed in will result in the rate at which the reaction occurs being much slower. It is also hypothesised that when the concentration of a solution in a chemical reaction is increased, the speed of the reaction increases. Whereas, on the other hand, when the concentration of the solution in the chemical reaction is decreased, the speed at which the reaction occurs will be far slower. This ... • 8. My Father Was a Paradox Essay I ll miss my father, I already miss him, greatly... I ll miss his stories, his laughter, the fire of his opinions, and especially the quiet strength of him. Yet, I think it s one of the truths of the world that the people we miss the most are also the ones that we can t miss, because we carry so much of them with us. My father was something of a paradox. On the one hand he stands out in my mind for his stories, his wit, and the fire of his opinions. Anyone who s argued with him, and that s quite a few of us, knew that he had strong opinions and argued them with zeal. On the other hand, at the same time, he was a quiet man, who kept a lot of what he felt on the inside, someone who taught more by example than by lecture. Did he ... And in my heart and in my memory, he ll be there by example, guiding me. And with him will be his stories. He was full of stories. There was nothing he didn t have a story or a joke for. And he was always such a wonderful subject for stories. I cannot forget his tale about sneaking into the doctor s office with his friend so they could memorize the eye chart and pass the medical exam to join the Navy. Stories that end with a father looking down at a little boy, dazed, scared and bruised and saying simply, Don t do that. You could hurt yourself. Stories about the man who unscrewed the table leg that came between him and the pretty woman sitting next to him at a dinner party. • 9. Comparsion of Jack London s The Call of the Wild and John... This is the four line epigraph present on the first page of The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Before you try to find how this section of Atavism by John Myers O Hara, relates to the theme of The Call of the Wild, you must understand the words used. Nomadic means moving around and not staying in one place. O Hara uses these words in a weird order, because it seems like it should say that your nomadic longings are leaping. The first line of this epigraph says that if you stay in one place for a long time, your instincts (old longings from ancestors) to move from place to place (to be nomadic) are going to flare up. Chafing means to cause annoyance. By using the phrase Chafing at custom s chain O Hara means that you are being annoyed by traditional ways. Custom s chain refers to these traditional ways. Therefore the feelings to want to become nomadic are clashing with the feelings of following tradition s ways. Brumal means wintry. O Hara is using this as a metaphor with the direct meaning being waking up from winter hibernation, but the deeper meaning is the realization or awakening of the need to break away from traditional ways. Ferine means wild and strain in this case means type. When O Hara uses ferine as an adjective to describe strain, he is referring to the wild side we each have due to our natural instincts. All in all Old longings nomadic leap, Chafing at custom s chain; Again from its brumal sleep wakens the ferine strain, means we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many channels have depicted a different side to one story and base information on a political party in which the channel supports. Each news source has one goal, and that is to state what will make the chosen party to have a good platform for the public to see. In the series of events that have occurred recently one can see how different news sources have pushed for what each channel believes is the main point needed to be crossed and have shared beliefs in either a liberal or conservative way. In a CNN article by Eugene Scott states after Trump have his statement of abortion punishment that, Donald Trump reversed his position on abortion, arguing that federal laws should not be changed to outlaw abortion (CNN), focussing on bashing Trump for his wishy washy ways to trt people to to turn against him. This kind of bias can be observed everywhere and in every kind of situation. American people get almost all of their information from popular news outlets or some other form of media. The media is often guilty for taking advantage of their power and covering stories with a certain political bias. This is obviously an enormous problem. It was not hard to find an example of such bias and the influence it has on public opinion. Newsweek magazine is the second largest weekly magazine in the United States (Fung). Although Newsweek Magazine is now facing serious financial trouble, in 2012 they had over a million subscribers (Fung). That is a significant number of people reading and being predisposed. Newsweek is often accused of having a liberal bias and their magazines covering the candidates in 2012 was no different. • 12. Asad s Theory Of White Norm And The Ku Klux Klan White supremacy is a term that is traditionally defined as the belief that white people are superior to those of all other races, especially the black race, and should therefore dominate society. White supremacy is a deep seeded ideology that, throughout history, has impacted religion, theocracy and the structure of our organizations. Although Christianity isn t inherently white supremacy, white supremacy can be analyzed as a religious event, as it involves the power that is synonymous with religion and the liminal state of traditional rites of passage. This paper will explain Asad s theory of power, summarize Turner s account of liminality, and analyze white supremacy and the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) using these two theoretical models. White supremacy originated in the mid fifteenth century when the European powers began taking African people as slaves in their quest for power and land. However, it wasn t until the late eighteenth century when the theological association of Christianity and whiteness allowed white supremacy to take on the cultural values consistent in Asad and Turner s theories. White supremacy then became institutionally perpetuated and began to impact every facet of life. White supremacy has been used to rationalize genocide, enslavement and prejudice. The Ku Klux Klan also became a representation of white supremacy. The Ku Klux Klan saw its primary goal as the reestablishment of white supremacy which became directly linked to white Protestant ... He saw it as an act of defiance and it didn t settle well with him. As a sergeant; Hanley does have authority over the soldiers and he makes sure that they know this. He continuously torments them and threatens them into obeying his every order. So when Charlie disobeys a particularly ridiculous order, he is immediately charged with cowardice and is sentenced to death. While Magua did not achieve his goal of gaining authority, but instead got the revenge he needed, Hanley had authority and used it as an advantage to get what he desired. Both Magua and Hanley are determined in order to obtain what they want, no matter what it took them. Even if that meant taking the lives of the innocent. I have come to the conclusion that authority and power are two separate ideas but both relate together as one concept. Power can reinforce authority and authority is one of the primary sources of power. Bearing this in mind, I feel that these four texts use a wide range of different examples to portray this theme of power and authority, which I believe was shown as a clear message to the readers or viewers of any of these four texts. Every man who has power is impelled to abuse it. CHARLES DE MONTESQUIEU. Just because people are in authority, if it doesn t seem right, don t do it. If it violates your own principles, don t do it. • 32. Porsche Exposed 1) Do you believe that Porsche s management is appropriately concerned with stockholder wealth? Does Porsche s ownership structure work to the benefit or detriment of public shareholders? Although Porsche is publicly traded, the company is controlled by only two stockholders, the Porsche and Piéch families. As the quotation by Holger Härter makes clear, the two families hold exclusive shareholder influence over management. An interesting point for class discussion is whether the families actually ever exercise these rights. It is not clear from the information or evidence presented that they influence or direct current management headed by Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking. They may simply agree with current leadership and therefore remain quietly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The objective would be to match dollar cash inflows from US sales with dollar cash outflows in US dollar debt service (principal and interest). Porsche has chosen not to use this approach most likely because it does not do debt. The firm has not needed debt to finance its operating activities and investing activities under the current management team (since 1993), and it also does not philosophically believe in using debt (see page 5 of the case). A good point of discussion with students, however, is that a company does not necessarily need debt to use debt. The benefits of leverage are well known, and although many successful companies today do not choose to use debt (Intel, Dell, Exxon Mobil, Microsoft to name a few), this does not necessarily prevent Porsche from revisiting this judgement. The benefit of using a financing hedge like dollar denominated debt is that it would take less active management and would not require a major outlay of capital out front like currency options require (option premiums). Current Strategy. The company has been hedging the US dollar long position by estimating its annual US dollar sales and hedging that exposure by purchasing put options on the US dollar (the right to sell US dollars for euros at a specific exchange rate). The company has been purchasing these options in what it refers to as a three year rolling hedge in which it hedges expected US dollar sales three years out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Leading By Example The greatest leaders of all time try to lead by example. I say try because it is impossible to entirely lead by example at every moment. Due to the fact that everyone is different and views things differently, it is very difficult to be a leader who everyone supports. Many leaders have partially lead by example as much as they could, and have made huge impacts on the world because of the changes they have made. But until there is a leader who everyone can support unanimously, it is impossible to completely lead by example. There have been some amazing and successful leaders over the years, but there has also been some very terrible and cynical leaders. Adolf Hitler believed he was leading by example, and many people thought he was as well. He brutally murdered millions, and still many believed he was leading by example which caused him to be able to start The Holocaust. It took a Second World War for people to realize that he wasn t leading by example. He was leading in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But throughout history we have had quite a few corruptive leaders, who acted as if they were leading by example. We have also has some revolutionary leaders who have inspired millions. They lead by example as much as they could, but because pure perfection doesn t exist, and because of different opinions people have, a true leader of example doesn t exist. Nobody is perfect, and nobody can lead by example at every moment of their lives because everyone makes mistakes. Plus, there will always be negative people in the world who try and blockade growth and change. It is good to try and lead by example as much as possible, and I think any good leader knows that. Unanimous support, and perfection is always going to be unreachable, but that is okay. As long as we are able to fight off malicious leaders and continue to have strong and inspirational leaders then our world will continue to grow and change for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Current State Of Organ Transplantation In 2009, there were 154,324 patients on the waiting list for an organ in the United States. Because of the lack of availability of organs, the grim reality is that only 18% received a transplant and 25 patients per day died while still on the waiting list. To alleviate this situation, a nationwide policy of compensation and incentives for organ donation will be implemented. The problems plaguing the current state of organ transplantation are more multidimensional than numbers. Issues are present from the national level all the down to the individual patient. Right at the onset of the entire process, identifying potential donors is difficult and problematic to subject to a set of standardized criteria. One of the reasons for this is that the sources of organs are varied. Still, the primary source of organ donation is cadavers. To certify death, the accepted criteria is that of brain death. After certification, another issue is ensuring the condition of the organs is maintained in a manner acceptable to be transplanted. Yet another issue is that the list is not static. The condition of patients can unfortunately deteriorate to the point where their eligibility to be placed on the list is lost. Additionally, given the chronic shortage of organs available and the extended amount of time some patients have to wait, some patients die before they are reached on the list. There is also a financial aspect to the process. It begins with classifying the processes involved as organ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. State Trooper Research Paper Have you thought about what you want to do after high school i have thought about it over and over. After hard thinking I came to conclusion what i would want to be. I would want to be a Arkansas State Trooper. The history of the Troopers, is that on march 19th it was approved that arkansas had a state police department. When it first started out, they were just seen as rangers . By 1948, the state trooper had grew in size, were there were now over sixtyfive officers, including highway patrol and criminal investigation. In the same year the state police stated being called as highway patrol as troopers . By the year 1957 the state police had doubled in size. At this point in time every county had their own trooper.Around the late 60 s into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But you always have to keep in mind that you could work over time and make extra money. Having a career it is very important to make sure that you have benefits. As having benefits as a state trooper, they would be social security, disability, healthcare, pension, and also you have time off and to be with your family. In every job that we people have, there are risk that come with the job. Some of the risk of being a state trooper is accidents happening, for example a hit and run, when you pull someone over, and you are hit from the side or if someone is trying to leave a sense. A bigger risk is someone not wanting to get into trouble for something that they have done and they may try to fight you. For example, just this year alone there have been 76 police officers who have been killed. Most of them deaths have came from people who either ran the police officer over, or have shot the officer. But like i had said, with every job there is there are the benefits, and then there are the risk. That is why I choose this career over any other ones. I want to be the one who can try to make sure that people are following the rules of the state, maintaining the highways and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
