The Three Most Common Ways to Displaying Data Essay
While accumulating data is essential to interpreting progress and making progress in future ventures,
the ability to display data is critical. Displaying data allows for a superior understanding of the
information. The three most common ways to visually display data is through the use of pie charts, bar
charts, and line graphs. Pie charts are best used when comparing parts of a whole (Data Driven
Decisions). A disadvantage of using a pie chart is that one will not be able to see changes over time. If
one is trying to best track changes over time bar charts and line graphs will be used. When smaller
changes exist, line graphs are better to use than bar graphs. Line graphs can also be used to compare
changes over the same period of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the chart below, parents will quickly be able to determine how many employees have four years or
more college education as compared to the whole facility. In addition to the previous data displays, we
can also use line graphs to display information such as test score frequency. Parents, students, and
teachers will be best served to test score data by viewing a line graph. This visual display will allow
the audience to view small and quick changes over time. The line graph below shows these small and
quick changes by looking at the frequency of two different test scores over the period of a week. The
final key data display is a bar chart. Like the aforementioned line graph, a bar chat is best utilized to
show changes over time. However the major difference between a line graph and a bar chart is that the
later is exploited to illustrate larger and longer changes over time. Information such as attendance
from the past three months over the previous three years would be best exhibited in a bar chart.
Students, parents, and principals would be able to quickly decipher the data in the bar chart. In
summation, there are three major ways to display data. Pie graphs are excellent displays when
demonstrating parts of a whole. Furthermore line charts are exceptional visual representations of small
and short changes over time. Finally, bar graphs are perfect for displaying larger

Immature In Catcher In The Rye
Everybody has problems, right? But some people s problems are worse and need to be dealt with
accordingly. In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Holden loses his brother Allie to leukemia and
multiple things happens to him in the story that is stressing him out and driving him nuts. That is why
we find out at the end of the novel that he is checked into a mental hospital. Holden is very immature,
he is a habitual liar, and he can drift off during the midst of something because he isn t focused.
Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly
not ready to be released into civilization, he might need to stay here longer. Holden is very immature
and cannot act his age for anything. In the beginning of the story, Holden was very immature and self
centered and he often did very immature things, but he wanted to be an adult. This is very
contradicting considering that he is very immature. In the novel, Holden states, Boy! I said. I also say
Boy! quite a lot. Partly because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my
age sometimes. I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen.
(Salinger 16). This shows how Holden is very immature and needs to start acting his age and this
could be dangerous to society. This is why he needs to stay inside the mental facility. In the mental
facility, he will be safe and he will not cause any harm to anyone or to himself

Remember The Titans And Philip Noyce Rabbit Proof Fence...
Leadership and change are clear themes in Boaz Yakin s Remember the Titans and Phillip Noyce s
Rabbit Proof fence. Molly is an Aboriginal girl in the middle of Western Australia who is taken from
her mother and must get back home by following a Rabbit proof fence. Gerry is a White American
who is racist towards African Americans, this changes as he learnt to play with an integrated team.
Gerry s leadership drives change, his leadership helps change his life and the lives of others. Molly s
leadership drives change when she escaped from Moore River with Gracie and Daisy. Even though
Molly led Gracie and Daisy out of Moore River, she hasn t brought White Australians and Indigenous
people together. But, Gerry s Leadership changed Jean and Emma s view as well as majority of
Alexandria s view on Black Americans. Gerry s leadership changed how African Americans were
viewed, after Hammond high school Integrated, creating T.C Williams High School.
As captain, Gerry Bertier led the Titans, he provoked change within his community. Molly is a leader,
her leadership and quick thinking assists her. Daisy and Gracie follow her because she is a
commendable leader. Before changing his perspective on African Americans, Gerry was intolerant and
bias towards Black Americans, I don t want to play with those Black Animals. Gerry learnt to play
with African Americans and respect them and understand that they are the same. But, Ray didn t
respect African Americans, unlike the rest of his team. I want Ray off the team, Coach. Gerry took
Ray off the team as it was bringing the team down and he didn t want a racist player on his team.
Gerry changed the team, due to his leadership. White Americans began to follow Gerry, by getting to
know fellow players who were African American. I was afraid of you, Julius. I only saw what I was
afraid of. Gerry was afraid of Julius, but by getting to know him, he understood why they weren t so
different. Attitude reflects Leadership , this effort and attitude changed the opinion of majority of the
white players due to Gerry s Leadership.
Molly was the leader of Daisy and Gracie, she led them out of Moore River and to a Rabbit proof

Why Is It Better To Stand Alone
It is better to stand alone for what is right than to be part of a crowd that is wrong. In our society today
teenagers are constantly faced with peer pressure. Wether out with friends or in a classroom, people
constantly try to influence our decisions. Some may influence our lives for the better but some may
not. An example of negative peer pressure present in todays world is teenage drinking. This example
easily shows how it is better to stand alone for what one believes is right (not drinking) rather than
giving in to peer pressure to fit in with the crowd. It can be hard to say no to your friends because of
our natural human desire to fit in and feel included in something. When we do stand alone for what is
right we show courage and independence.

How Does Alcohol Dehydrogenase
Question 1:
1. Enzymes: Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH)
2. Alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase helps separate the alcohol molecule, making it
more likely to remove it from the body.
ADH first metabolizes the alcohol to acetaldehyde, an extremely toxic matter, known as carcinogen.
Then, acetaldehyde is metabolized to a different by product called acetate that is broken down into
water and carbon dioxide.
 Acetaldehyde: a toxic by product
Acetaldehyde is a by product that only occurs early in the breakdown process. When acetaldehyde still
exists in the body only for a short amount of time before it is broken down into acetate. Acetate is
likely to cause significant damage that is most likely evident in the liver. ... Show more content on

Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm
Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm
In the late 19th century, women were expected to conform to the conventions of society. This meant
that they were expected to get married young, pure and beautiful. They were treated like objects as if
men bought them. How the woman felt was irrelevant in this period.
Women were expected to produce an heir and a spare . Women were also victim to double standards.
For example, women had to deal with a child out of wedlock yet were given no responsibility for this.
This contrasts strongly to a woman s role in society today. However, women are still expected to get
married and give birth to a child.
I am going to explore this issue in two short stories; The Yellow ... Show more content on

Hardy uses a technique called sympathetic background to show us this when he tells of how Rhoda sat
apart from the rest in the milking barn and lived on a lonely spot away from the other milkmaids.
In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman also shows sympathy for the plight of women. Like Hardy, she also
uses the sympathetic background technique when she illustrates the oppression of the speaker by John
and by society. This is illustrated clearly from the very beginning of the story where the speaker says
But what is one to do? This shows how she feels she is being trapped and oppressed by society s
expectations of her.
In The Withered Arm, I feel that Farmer Lodge genuinely believed that he was doing nothing wrong
be ignoring and looking down on Rhoda and her son because he felt society expected him to do that,
however other people may believe that it was unfair that a woman was left in that position. In The
Yellow Wallpaper, I feel that John acted caringly towards the speaker, whereas others may feel that
John was over protective. In both stories, the female characters were expected to conform to societies
expectations of them and if they did not, they were ostracised from society.
For example, in The Withered Arm, we learn that Rhoda has had a child out of wedlock with Farmer
Lodge (sympathetic background). For this
terrible sin, Rhoda is effectively excluded from society; however, no blame is

Commercials and Their Propaganda Techniques
Why do commercials use propaganda techniques? Is it to influence our emotions or is it because they
lack actual factual support for their claims? The answer is both. Propaganda techniques are used by
advertisers, salespeople, and politicians because they lack adequate factual support for their points, so
they appeal to our emotions by using propaganda techniques. In the particular commercial for the
Samsung Galaxy smart phones, Name Calling, Plain Folks, and Bandwagon propaganda techniques
are used. It is no secret that smart phone creators have to appeal to average consumers and get them to
jump on board to buy their product. So in a not so surprising way to gather new customers, Samsung
releases a commercial the same day another major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

consumers who feel as though Apple has hit a plateau in creating innovative smart phone features, so
these small digs can be used as name calling or the use of emotionally loaded language or negative
comment to turn people against a rival product. The primary one is the advertisement is name calling
because although plain folks and bandwagon techniques were used, the main purpose of the
commercial was to criticize a major competitor and their customers in a mocking way and also to

Blanche Dubois Victim
In the play A Streetcar Named Desire the character of Blanche DuBois is very complex and has many
different aspects of it. Blanche DuBois a serious alcoholic has had a very simple life as she has never
had to work or have any struggles of life thrown at her till she grows up and loses her family estate
and also has her husband kill himself. In the story, she starts off with snarky comments to her sister
and her feeling like she is all that. Throughout the story her life turns sideways as she meets a man she
actually likes and not one who she just wants to sleep with. Blanche can be looked at as a victim of the
story from many sides but can also be seen as a victimizer in some aspects. In the story Blanche is
easily a victim to all the cruel acts society has done to her. In the story she faces hardships of her life
early on when her husband kills himself after she calls him disgusting . She was never able to get over
it and she said herself she always depended on the kindness of strangers for the rest of her life

I Sing The Body Electric, By Walt Whitman
I Need You, Body and Soul
The poem I Sing the Body Electric, by Walt Whitman is one of the poems from the original 1855
edition of Leaves of Grass. In I Sing the Body Electric, Whitman explores the physical body in
connection with the soul. In this poem Whitman establishes the links between the body and the soul
by celebrating perfection of the male and female body and the importance the body castes upon the
soul and bodies connecting with one another. In this poem Whitman depicts the image of the perfect
body for both male and female by listing specific characteristics that our soul and physical body
connect with to make that body perfect. In I Sing the Body Electric Whitman bridges the gap between
our thoughts and our bodies, arguing that they are both one divine entity. In this writing Whitman
argues the two characteristics of this entity that rely on each other to become one and create the
masterpiece. Whitman explains how the beauty of the body is dependent upon the thoughts in our
mind and our thoughts are in turn the force that allows our body to contort beautifully in an outward
expression of movement. For example, in section one Whitman questions, And if the body were not
the soul, what is the soul? Knowing the answer Whitman continues on to answer the body is the soul,
our thoughts, our soul, is the body. In section six, Whitman explains how The male is not less the soul
nor more .
I agree with Walt Whitman in that the physical body and our thoughts, and soul

the militia Essay
Officially, a militia is part of the organized armed forces of a country that is called upon only in an
emergency. There have been paramilitary groups with revolutionary ideas throughout America s
history, but today s militia movement is a new more organized and violent presence (Meyers). Today
the militia are unofficial citizens armies organized by private individuals, usually with
antigovernment, far right agendas. They rationalize that the American people need armed force to help
defend themselves against an increasingly oppressive government that is becoming part of a global
conspiracy called the New World Order (Sonder, 2000). These armed groups call themselves militias;

Militia growth appears to have been steady throughout 1995 and the first half of 1996 (Sonder, 2000).
The primary illegal activities among militia groups are related to weapons and explosives. Militia
groups in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, California, and a
number of other states have seen members arrested for possession of illegal weapons and explosives.
People in the movement tend to give inflated numbers, in order to make their movement seem larger,
and at the same time, because they are so paranoid, will refuse to allow people to actually count their
numbers. In addition, groups go in and out of existence all the time, and there are many people who
are part of the movement, without being card carrying members of any one particular group. There are
some groups few people know about because they are underground. All these factors together make it
impossible to say with any certainty how many militia groups there are. The number of groups is
certainly in the hundreds.
The militia movement has many people who could be called law abiding citizens. However, many
members conduct criminal activity (Dees, 1996). The most common is the collection of illegal
weapons and explosives. Sometimes these illegal arsenals are stunning in their size. Since militia
members tend to believe that they have the right to own whatever sort of weapon they

Fair Value Measurement
FAIR VALUE MEASUREMENT: IMPLEMENTATION ISSUES AND CHALLENGES (PART 1)
(by Tuam Kwok Choon and Ng Kean Kok)
INTRODUCTION Since the promulgation of fair value accounting by the International Accounting
Standards Board (IASB), the subject matter has been hotly debated by industry players and
professionals of the accounting fraternity the world over. Many problems and pitfalls have been
highlighted on the mark to market premise. For example, David Gwilliam and Richard H.G. Jackson
(2008) noted that Enron was able to monetize physical assets so as to bring them within the remit of
mark to market accounting , suggesting misuse of fair value measurement. Fair value is said to be
superior to other forms of measurement because it is easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the emphasis on mark to market approach, fair value hence is definitely very relevant in today s
business environment. Historical cost accounting fails in terms of not only in relation to reporting
current values, but also in terms of projecting future values. Fair value hence allows for better
investment decision to be made, based on latest fair values reported.
INDUSTRY FEEDBACK AND RESPONSE Critics of the US banking institutions have strongly
criticised and blamed fair value accounting for aggravating the credit crisis, forcing the institutions to
heavily slash the value of their mortgage assets, which resulted in weakening the regulatory capital
ratios. The need to mark to market the financial instruments forced many financial institutions to incur
large writedowns on the balance sheets. Without the regulatory cash cushion, inter bank and customer
lending became severly hampered, thus creating a stagnant credit market. It is easy to make
accounting rules the scapegoat when it comes to shifting blames. The reality is that had financial
institutions adopted fair value accounting and its disclosure requirements early, they would have seen
the writing on the wall.
Still, it is hard to ignore the fact that the recent financial crisis has exposed some shortcomings of
fair value accounting. Reporting fair value in illiquid markets creates earnings volatility and

1. In America, federal, state, and local governments play a large role in the education system.
a. According to The Center for Public Justice Website, When Congress passes a federal budget each
year, it sets aside enough money to fund about ten percent of government run schools operating costs
(n.d., para. 5).
b. The primary focus of the state government is to set the laws and regulations for what the schools

How Materialism Affect American Families
Materialism can affect every living person on the planet, but it is more common in rich or well built
up countries or nations it all started in the early 1900 s and started the boom of the industrial age of
materials and technology. And what had get created from the age of materialism is the disease of
Affluenza, which is a mental disorder that can have an effect on every person, no matter the age, race
or creed, it is a disease that should be looked at more carefully, instead of overlooking the problem.

the early turn of the century because of new inventions, and the industrial revolution. So the effects of
materialism goes back many years, so it is a little hard to reverse the effects of materialism. Over
consumption is a harmful part of American society, Even though American comprise only five percent
of the world s population, in 1996 we used nearly a third of its resources and produced almost half of
its hazardous waste. Also The average North American consumes five times as much as an average

William Goulding, a group of adolescents are left stranded on an island after a plane crash. They are
without any influence of adults, a situation that leaves no doubt that the community will quickly lose

most intelligent boy called Piggy is wrongly ignored by the other boys. Trusting Ralph too much, the
fat boy shares, They used to call me Piggy. Ralph shrieked with laughter. He jumped up and said,

Overview Of The Restaurant Market
Introduction
Overview of the restaurant (100 words)
The restaurant market in London is extremely competitive with thousands of restaurants trying to fight
against each other in order to stay competitive attract customers. Benihana, a Japanese steakhouse and
sushi restaurant at Piccadilly Circus, has its own unique selling points and they are how they can stay
successful in one of the busiest cities in the world.
Proposed Service Concept
The specialty of Benihana is hibachi steak and seafood and foods are grilled in front of guests on a
stove and then served the chef assigned to each table.
The website design is mainly consisted of black background and red texts and images. Black reminds
people of fine dining and high end while red reminds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Besides black, red is used in almost every corner of the restaurant from tables to bathrooms. When
people see warm colours such as red, they would relate it to enthusiasm, warmth and joy and that s the
brand image and vision of Benihana and the atmosphere Benihana are trying to create. People could
also relate it to fire and grill which is what Benihana is all about.
Exterior Design
To attract potential customers, Benihana displays their lunch and dinner menu in the street outside the
entrance of the restaurant.
People in the street can see through the massive glass windows from the outside and get a glimpse of
the inside which may help attracting customers. However, customers in the restaurant who values their
privacies might have concerns about being stared at as some tables are fairly close to the glass
windows.
Environment and atmosphere
In contrast to conventional fine dining restaurant, being noisy is actually one of Benihana unique
selling points and advantages. Chefs would yell, make funny noises, tell jokes, and make every
customer laughs while they are preparing food in front of customers which people don t see at any
other fine dining restaurant. This concept of customisation is a big contrast to the standardisation at
other conventional formal restaurant.
The concept of servicescape emphasizes the impact of the physical environment in which a service

Examples Of Fear In East Of Eden
In the novel East of Eden many examples show just how powerful fear can be if used for selfish gain

Most people who believe that HBCUs are no longer useful also believe that because the law forbids
the practice of racism HBCUs should be shut down. However, few take into consideration the many
white historically white institutions with a legacy of turning away talented African Americans. What
about these schools? Should they not be closed down as well? I believe that persons who are
proponents of the abolition of HBCUs are subconsciously practicing racism, because they are not
making mention of the many schools in existence with a predominantly white student body; HBCUs
are not meant to be a form of segregation but a part of history.
I also believe that HBCUs are a better alternative to affirmative action. These institutions have the
capacity to attract and motivate many young black people, to advance their education. By seeing
people just like them, with similar backgrounds and similar interest making great achievements, it
provides those young black people with a pride and a sense of empowerment. This is most effective in
the poorer neighborhoods where morale is low. It is true that HBCUs enroll students with the lowest
test scores in American education; according to Elias Blake Jr. in the article from Emerge, Black
colleges are still enrolling a majority of the most vulnerable students that have the lowest income and
the lowest test scores... (par. 7). Studies show that in many disadvantaged communities, the quality of

Why Did Steven Spielberg A Game Changer
A two time Oscar winner and a full time Visionary. Steven Allan Spielberg has directed over 100 films
and still counting. Spielberg s dramatic directing style has been capturing audiences attentions for over
50 years. He s changed the movie going experience since day one. Steven Spielberg is a game changer
because he changed modern Cinema with his signature directing style and his iconic DreamWorks
logo. Steven Spielberg was born one year after World War 2 ended. Growing up Jewish was hard for
Spielberg. He often felt as if he was an outcast. He was one of the only Jews at his school. He claims
he has Peter Pan Syndrome meaning he never really grew up. He is still a child at heart. He was scared
of practically everything when he was young, and his creative mind made every creak and bump in the
night a terrifying new monster just waiting to lure him into the darkness. Despite being afraid of most
things in television, he was fascinated with all things movie. He never really paid attention in school,

He s had to go through extremely stressful scenarios to become the phenomenal director he is today.
In my opinion, the most important moment in his movie making carrier was directing Jaws. That was
the movie that started it all for Spielberg. When he was assigned the job of directing the 1974 novel by
Peter Benchley, Steven s career was now recognized by big Hollywood studios. Very soon production
nightmares happened on the set of Jaws. Spielberg realized a very big problem, We started the film
without a script, without a cast and without a shark (Richard Dreyfus). Spielberg was over budget,
over schedule, and overwhelmed. The mechanical shark used in the film would break due to the salt
water so Spielberg had to come up with interesting ways to not show it. That is why the movie rarely
shows the shark. The young director woke up every day fearing he

How To Prevent Zika Disease
Preventing an outbreak of Zika in Mississippi Throughout the Caribbean, Central, and South America
there has been health crisis that s has been affecting the youngest generation of these developing
countries. Thousands of babies have been born with a birth defect known as microencephaly. This
birth defect can cause horrible problems such as seizures, mental retardation, developmental delays,
short stature and difficulties with coordination and balance. (Centers for Disease Control 2017) This
birth defect often leads to having to provide life term medical care and it was determined to be caused
by the mother acquiring a mosquito borne infection with the Zika virus. So, what is this Zika virus and

What are the prevention techniques our state is investing in? What can we do to try and prevent
ourselves and our families from getting Zika? The CDC is currently tracking the spread of the Zika
virus throughout the world and teaching local healthcare providers how to detect case of the Zika
virus. They are also providing support for local hospital laboratories to provide testing if the hospital
cannot provide it and preforming confirmatory testing for those labs that do provide that type of
testing. The CDC is also doing research on the link between Zika virus and the birth defects that it
causes. They also educate people about the Zika virus and issue travel warnings on the place that have
outbreaks. CDC is also recommending that all men that travel to countries with travel warnings to
practice safe sex for a while after returning from those trips because it is suspected that Zika can be
passed through semen. President Obama signed a release of emergency funds that has provided $1.8
billion dollars to help accelerate research into a vaccine for Zika. (USA Today 2016) Another method
that is being tried in countries like Brazil is the release of genetically modified male mosquitoes.
These male mosquitoes have genetically modified genes that will cause their offspring to die quickly
so that they will never reach maturity and since male mosquitoes do not bite they cannot spread
disease. The biotech company Oxitec which is behind this concept, has stated that it can reduce
populations by 80%. (Stein 2016) This has been deemed a safe method of mosquito reduction by the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration. (Stein 2016) This method is controversial but it does reduce the
overall amount of pesticide that is used to control the mosquitoes. Another method that is being used
is the use of biological warfare against

Tricky Names: Cognition Time When Ignoring Incongruent Labels Kinnery Desai University of
Massachusetts Amherst Abstract The brain s recognition of objects and labels is instantaneous because
of which incongruent stimuli greatly interfere in the brain s ability to correctly label objects. The goal
of our research was to examine the effects of incongruent labels on response time, illustrated through
the Stroop test. The Stroop test is a well known visual processing test created to determine how the
cognitive process can be inhibited by what is seen and interpreted visually. Our specific Stroop task
approached the interference between shapes and words, rather than colors and words. Participants

and pig in a random order. There were five rows of four animals, with a total of 40 silhouettes. One
sheet had silhouettes marked without any labels (control condition), while the other had incongruent
labels (incongruent condition), which served to create the two conditions. The stopwatch was used to
record the time of the participant responses.

In the very beginning of the novel before the story even starts Saramago stats a quote from the Book

stressful nights, these are some of what teenagers do while they re in high school. Saramago shows

In what ways can bias be defined, according to the authors?
The authors define bias in the text in three main ways. The first is distortion bias which is applied to

Sears s Job As Station Agent Essay
Sears began its journey in 1886 when a Chicago jewelry company shipped some gold filled watches to
an unsuspecting jeweler in a Minnesota hamlet. Richard W. Sears was an agent of the Minneapolis and
St. Louis railway station in North Redwood, Minnesota. Sears s job as station agent left him plenty of
spare time, so he sold lumber and coal to local residents on the side to make extra money. Later, when
he received a shipment of watches, unwanted by a neighboring Redwood Falls jeweler, Sears
purchased them himself. He sold the watches at a nice profit to other station agents up and down the
line, and then ordered more for resale. In 1886 Sears began the R.W. Sears Watch Company in
Minneapolis. The following year, Sears moved his business to Chicago and inserted a classified ad in
the Chicago Daily News for a watchmaker. Enter Alvah C. Roebuck. Here began the association of
two young men, both still in their twenties, to make their names famous. For it was in 1893 that the
corporate name of the firm became Sears, Roebuck and Co was created. By the time Sears was
created, rural farmers were infuriated with the outrageous costs of buying supplies from the general
store. Thanks to volume buying, to the railroads and post office, and later to rural free delivery and
parcel post, Sears, Roebuck and Co. became a welcome change to farmers. At the close of its 2000
fiscal year, Sears operated 863 mall based retail stores, most with co located Sears Auto Centers, and

Reflections On Gender On Science
Science is the truth. It is unwavering and absolute. As a result, it is objective and free of imperfection.
As such, Steven Weinburg, a theoretical physicist, once stated, The laws of nature are as impersonal
and free of human values as the rules of arithmetic. We didn t want it to come out that way, but it did.
Weinburg explains that science, like arithmetic is ultimately an objective discourse free from
subjectivity and emotion. However, in Evelyn Fox Keller s novel Reflections on Gender on Science,
she argues against science as being an objectivist ideology. She asserts that science does not
encompass the complete truth, but is rather a perverted, masculine discourse. Keller critiques
Weinburg s assertions as faulty, where she argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She argues that white, middle class men have pioneered the field of science since its inception. Since
science has been championed exclusively by this particular party, science discounts aspects from other
groups, especially females. In doing so, science is exposed a misguided subjective ideology that casts
the feminine perspective in particular to the wayside. In addition, this narrow, one sided mindset lacks
the ideas from those who are nonwhite and not middle class. Keller s argument regarding science
being an objectivist discourse is a double edged sword. In her attempts to critique the whole
population of white, middle class men, she ultimately generalizes them. In her arguments, she makes a
sweeping assumption that science is a white supremacist, capitalistic, and male dominated discourse.
Her generalizations from which her argumentation is based off is flawed. The basis of her arguments
is coded in sexism, classism, and racism. Keller s entire claim revolves around how science being
dominated by middle class white men is unacceptable. Her claim that science has evolved under the
formative influence of a particular ideal of masculinity insinuates that science heavily favors white,
middle class men and disregards everyone else. Her assertion of underrepresentation presupposes that
these white, middle class men regard only themselves and fail to represent the rest of the population.
This baseless claim paints

The currency exchange rate has to be considered when the decision is based on cost figures of from
two countries with different currencies. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) used to calculate inflation
rate in a country has to be used in forecasting the future minimum wages as minimum wages are in
proportion with the inflation rate.
Discussion and Analysis
Structure of Payroll in Cornwall, Ontario
1. Minimum Wage
The minimum wage rate in Ontario is $11.60 per hour for 2017 and the minimum wage rates are
subject to annual indexation based on the inflation rate as per the Government of Ontario website.
Since, Inflation rate is measured through Consumer price index so, by taking the CPI data of 10 years
we have forecasted the CPI of 2022. As per the CPI the forecasted minimum wage of 2022 is
estimated at $12.51 per hour.
2. Health care costs
The employer health tax (EHT) is a payroll tax on remuneration paid to former employees and
employees.
The EHT rate varies from 0.98% to 1.95% of the wages depending upon the total payroll of the
Ontario employer.
3. Employment Insurance

Italy s Political And Economic On Going Crisis
Question 1 Italy will be hosting a Renzi fied constitutional referendum this upcoming 4th of
December and expect their voters to decide whether they approve of altering the constitution to
restructure the legislative process by effectively reducing the upper chamber s power.
Constitutional reform, with an exact motive to deprive the Senate of power, has been a desired goal
since WW2. Italy s political and economic on going crisis has incentivized the Parliament to
implement new enactments and thus far none of these laws have been effectively executed because of
the legislatures intracameral conflict. Italy s method of navette has failed to resolve policy differences
within the legislature with a never ending shuttle back and forth and thus has held the country captive
in an ungovernable state. Ergo, Renzi believes the right path in his plan to stabilize the government is
to change Italy s 56 year old constitution.
Italy s parliament is structured under a symmetrical bicameral legislature with two chambers:
Chamber of Deputies(hereafter referred to as lower house) and the Senate of the Republic(upper
house). In order for a bill to be implemented, both houses have to approve the bill similarly, therefore
without the confidence of both houses, attempts at implementing laws will continuously fail. Italy s
bicameral system is placed in the upper left of the two dimensional chart because of the Senate s
position as a frail political actor, therefore marking its system as

Analysis Of The Movie 7 Series
7 Up series was created because the director wanted to show the world that a group of children could
make a better nation. To be honest, 7 up series got my attention because recording fourteen people
lives every seven years means a lot of work and dedication. Moreover, I feel that this series was
created mostly to entertain the public all over the world which makes me feel concerned about all the
characters involved. 7 up characters had the responsibility to show the world that you can succeed no
matter your background. Also, I perceive this series played an important role to initiate reality TV
shows. The 7 up series was famous worldwide that even Asia imitated it. Overall, the main reason this
film was created was to have a glimpse of the future of England, which I found absurd because an
entire nation is not defined by short film based on fourteen children.
One of the advantages that you can appreciate from this film is that ambitions and life in general are
not stable at all; however, personality and character traits tend to remain the same. The disadvantage
that these characters had was that they didn t have the opportunity to choose if they wanted to be part
of the program or not. These children exposed their personal and professional lives to the entire world.
There were scenes in the film where the characters looked sentimental and uncomfortable, and the
director kept recording. I found that really annoying and disrespectful because they invaded the
characters

Phaedo by Plato Essay examples
Phaedo by Plato
The opening of Plato s Phaedo finds Socrates constructing a defense of the philosophical life.
When consideration is given to the status of philosophy in Greece at the end of the fifth century
BCE, such a defense seems unnecessary and, at the same time, difficult. This is because ancient
Greece provides us with the origins of philosophy, and yet this particular period in history serves as a
good demonstration of the public s general distaste for and persecution of it. Several philosophers,
including Pythagoras, Anaxagoras, and Protagoras, were ridiculed and attacked for their beliefs. In
spite of these social deterrents, Socrates remained faithful to his life long pursuit, even though it led to
his demise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates believes that the entire philosophical endeavor is a preparation for death and that the true
philosopher looks forward to dying. His students, however, cannot understand why the philosopher
should want to die, and Socrates hopes to dispel their fears of death while bringing them to an
awareness of a figurative death where desires cease to control the soul . In addition to noticing the
figurative nature of death, he also wants them to give further consideration to the literal death as well.
The distinction between these two types of death, figurative and literal, creates two possible avenues
for the philosophical life. Socrates defines death as the release of the soul from the body . This
definition implies both a view of death as placing distance between the soul and the body during this
life and a complete separation at the moment of death. The responsibility of the philosopher is to seek
liberation here in this life and, in so doing, to prepare for the afterlife, as preparation for both the
literal and figurative deaths coalesce into a single activity.
Liberation here in the visible realm comes from recognizing the hindering function of the body in the
soul s search for knowledge. Socrates comments that a soul associated too closely with the body will

Balkan War Research Paper
BACKGROUND.
Raised in all wars in the world is difficult to understand the roots of conflicts, simplifying, the causes
can be psychological, traditional or modern base. History is always present and is used as a motivating
force, along with others, in almost every war there are economic reasons as secondary causes. In the
Balkan War, it has historically been characterized by its high vulnerability to conflicts of low, medium
and high intensity, especially because of the events that took place during this century, which have
been decisive and marked conclusively the present conflict .
One of the main problems of this war is the ethno nationalism, which has led to the creation of states
identified with their national existence, by the refusal of the Political Marxist Leninist, for alternative
policies ranging from tolerance to ethnic minorities to debugging, the latter being forced expulsion
(minorities) of the disputed regions.
Similarly the search for new definitions of Nation in the absence of democratic and cultural traditions

  • 2. The Three Most Common Ways to Displaying Data Essay While accumulating data is essential to interpreting progress and making progress in future ventures, the ability to display data is critical. Displaying data allows for a superior understanding of the information. The three most common ways to visually display data is through the use of pie charts, bar charts, and line graphs. Pie charts are best used when comparing parts of a whole (Data Driven Decisions). A disadvantage of using a pie chart is that one will not be able to see changes over time. If one is trying to best track changes over time bar charts and line graphs will be used. When smaller changes exist, line graphs are better to use than bar graphs. Line graphs can also be used to compare changes over the same period of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the chart below, parents will quickly be able to determine how many employees have four years or more college education as compared to the whole facility. In addition to the previous data displays, we can also use line graphs to display information such as test score frequency. Parents, students, and teachers will be best served to test score data by viewing a line graph. This visual display will allow the audience to view small and quick changes over time. The line graph below shows these small and quick changes by looking at the frequency of two different test scores over the period of a week. The final key data display is a bar chart. Like the aforementioned line graph, a bar chat is best utilized to show changes over time. However the major difference between a line graph and a bar chart is that the later is exploited to illustrate larger and longer changes over time. Information such as attendance from the past three months over the previous three years would be best exhibited in a bar chart. Students, parents, and principals would be able to quickly decipher the data in the bar chart. In summation, there are three major ways to display data. Pie graphs are excellent displays when demonstrating parts of a whole. Furthermore line charts are exceptional visual representations of small and short changes over time. Finally, bar graphs are perfect for displaying larger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Immature In Catcher In The Rye Everybody has problems, right? But some people s problems are worse and need to be dealt with accordingly. In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Holden loses his brother Allie to leukemia and multiple things happens to him in the story that is stressing him out and driving him nuts. That is why we find out at the end of the novel that he is checked into a mental hospital. Holden is very immature, he is a habitual liar, and he can drift off during the midst of something because he isn t focused. Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly not ready to be released into civilization, he might need to stay here longer. Holden is very immature and cannot act his age for anything. In the beginning of the story, Holden was very immature and self centered and he often did very immature things, but he wanted to be an adult. This is very contradicting considering that he is very immature. In the novel, Holden states, Boy! I said. I also say Boy! quite a lot. Partly because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my age sometimes. I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. (Salinger 16). This shows how Holden is very immature and needs to start acting his age and this could be dangerous to society. This is why he needs to stay inside the mental facility. In the mental facility, he will be safe and he will not cause any harm to anyone or to himself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Remember The Titans And Philip Noyce Rabbit Proof Fence... Leadership and change are clear themes in Boaz Yakin s Remember the Titans and Phillip Noyce s Rabbit Proof fence. Molly is an Aboriginal girl in the middle of Western Australia who is taken from her mother and must get back home by following a Rabbit proof fence. Gerry is a White American who is racist towards African Americans, this changes as he learnt to play with an integrated team. Gerry s leadership drives change, his leadership helps change his life and the lives of others. Molly s leadership drives change when she escaped from Moore River with Gracie and Daisy. Even though Molly led Gracie and Daisy out of Moore River, she hasn t brought White Australians and Indigenous people together. But, Gerry s Leadership changed Jean and Emma s view as well as majority of Alexandria s view on Black Americans. Gerry s leadership changed how African Americans were viewed, after Hammond high school Integrated, creating T.C Williams High School. As captain, Gerry Bertier led the Titans, he provoked change within his community. Molly is a leader, her leadership and quick thinking assists her. Daisy and Gracie follow her because she is a commendable leader. Before changing his perspective on African Americans, Gerry was intolerant and bias towards Black Americans, I don t want to play with those Black Animals. Gerry learnt to play with African Americans and respect them and understand that they are the same. But, Ray didn t respect African Americans, unlike the rest of his team. I want Ray off the team, Coach. Gerry took Ray off the team as it was bringing the team down and he didn t want a racist player on his team. Gerry changed the team, due to his leadership. White Americans began to follow Gerry, by getting to know fellow players who were African American. I was afraid of you, Julius. I only saw what I was afraid of. Gerry was afraid of Julius, but by getting to know him, he understood why they weren t so different. Attitude reflects Leadership , this effort and attitude changed the opinion of majority of the white players due to Gerry s Leadership. Molly was the leader of Daisy and Gracie, she led them out of Moore River and to a Rabbit proof fence before changing to the correct one. We re on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why Is It Better To Stand Alone It is better to stand alone for what is right than to be part of a crowd that is wrong. In our society today teenagers are constantly faced with peer pressure. Wether out with friends or in a classroom, people constantly try to influence our decisions. Some may influence our lives for the better but some may not. An example of negative peer pressure present in todays world is teenage drinking. This example easily shows how it is better to stand alone for what one believes is right (not drinking) rather than giving in to peer pressure to fit in with the crowd. It can be hard to say no to your friends because of our natural human desire to fit in and feel included in something. When we do stand alone for what is right we show courage and independence. ... Alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase helps separate the alcohol molecule, making it more likely to remove it from the body. ADH first metabolizes the alcohol to acetaldehyde, an extremely toxic matter, known as carcinogen. Then, acetaldehyde is metabolized to a different by product called acetate that is broken down into water and carbon dioxide.  Acetaldehyde: a toxic by product Acetaldehyde is a by product that only occurs early in the breakdown process. • 7. Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm Women s Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and The Withered Arm In the late 19th century, women were expected to conform to the conventions of society. This meant that they were expected to get married young, pure and beautiful. They were treated like objects as if men bought them. How the woman felt was irrelevant in this period. Women were expected to produce an heir and a spare . Women were also victim to double standards. For example, women had to deal with a child out of wedlock yet were given no responsibility for this. This contrasts strongly to a woman s role in society today. However, women are still expected to get married and give birth to a child. I am going to explore this issue in two short stories; The Yellow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hardy uses a technique called sympathetic background to show us this when he tells of how Rhoda sat apart from the rest in the milking barn and lived on a lonely spot away from the other milkmaids. In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman also shows sympathy for the plight of women. Like Hardy, she also uses the sympathetic background technique when she illustrates the oppression of the speaker by John and by society. This is illustrated clearly from the very beginning of the story where the speaker says But what is one to do? This shows how she feels she is being trapped and oppressed by society s expectations of her. In The Withered Arm, I feel that Farmer Lodge genuinely believed that he was doing nothing wrong be ignoring and looking down on Rhoda and her son because he felt society expected him to do that, however other people may believe that it was unfair that a woman was left in that position. In The Yellow Wallpaper, I feel that John acted caringly towards the speaker, whereas others may feel that John was over protective. In both stories, the female characters were expected to conform to societies expectations of them and if they did not, they were ostracised from society. For example, in The Withered Arm, we learn that Rhoda has had a child out of wedlock with Farmer Lodge (sympathetic background). For this terrible sin, Rhoda is effectively excluded from society; however, no blame is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Commercials and Their Propaganda Techniques Why do commercials use propaganda techniques? Is it to influence our emotions or is it because they lack actual factual support for their claims? The answer is both. Propaganda techniques are used by advertisers, salespeople, and politicians because they lack adequate factual support for their points, so they appeal to our emotions by using propaganda techniques. In the particular commercial for the Samsung Galaxy smart phones, Name Calling, Plain Folks, and Bandwagon propaganda techniques are used. It is no secret that smart phone creators have to appeal to average consumers and get them to jump on board to buy their product. So in a not so surprising way to gather new customers, Samsung releases a commercial the same day another major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blanche DuBois a serious alcoholic has had a very simple life as she has never had to work or have any struggles of life thrown at her till she grows up and loses her family estate and also has her husband kill himself. In the story, she starts off with snarky comments to her sister and her feeling like she is all that. Throughout the story her life turns sideways as she meets a man she actually likes and not one who she just wants to sleep with. Blanche can be looked at as a victim of the story from many sides but can also be seen as a victimizer in some aspects. In the story Blanche is easily a victim to all the cruel acts society has done to her. In the story she faces hardships of her life early on when her husband kills himself after she calls him disgusting . She was never able to get over it and she said herself she always depended on the kindness of strangers for the rest of her life onwards. She even has a relationship with one of her ... • 10. I Sing The Body Electric, By Walt Whitman I Need You, Body and Soul The poem I Sing the Body Electric, by Walt Whitman is one of the poems from the original 1855 edition of Leaves of Grass. In I Sing the Body Electric, Whitman explores the physical body in connection with the soul. In this poem Whitman establishes the links between the body and the soul by celebrating perfection of the male and female body and the importance the body castes upon the soul and bodies connecting with one another. In this poem Whitman depicts the image of the perfect body for both male and female by listing specific characteristics that our soul and physical body connect with to make that body perfect. In I Sing the Body Electric Whitman bridges the gap between our thoughts and our bodies, arguing that they are both one divine entity. In this writing Whitman argues the two characteristics of this entity that rely on each other to become one and create the masterpiece. Whitman explains how the beauty of the body is dependent upon the thoughts in our mind and our thoughts are in turn the force that allows our body to contort beautifully in an outward expression of movement. For example, in section one Whitman questions, And if the body were not the soul, what is the soul? There have been paramilitary groups with revolutionary ideas throughout America s history, but today s militia movement is a new more organized and violent presence (Meyers). Today the militia are unofficial citizens armies organized by private individuals, usually with antigovernment, far right agendas. Militia growth appears to have been steady throughout 1995 and the first half of 1996 (Sonder, 2000). The primary illegal activities among militia groups are related to weapons and explosives. Militia groups in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, California, and a number of other states have seen members arrested for possession of illegal weapons and explosives. People in the movement tend to give inflated numbers, in order to make their movement seem larger, and at the same time, because they are so paranoid, will refuse to allow people to actually count their numbers. In addition, groups go in and out of existence all the time, and there are many people who are part of the movement, without being card carrying members of any one particular group. There are some groups few people know about because they are underground. All these factors together make it impossible to say with any certainty how many militia groups there are. The number of groups is certainly in the hundreds. The militia movement has many people who could be called law abiding citizens. However, many members conduct criminal activity (Dees, 1996). The most common is the collection of illegal weapons and explosives. Sometimes these illegal arsenals are stunning in their size. Fair Value Measurement FAIR VALUE MEASUREMENT: IMPLEMENTATION ISSUES AND CHALLENGES (PART 1) (by Tuam Kwok Choon and Ng Kean Kok) INTRODUCTION Since the promulgation of fair value accounting by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the subject matter has been hotly debated by industry players and professionals of the accounting fraternity the world over. Many problems and pitfalls have been highlighted on the mark to market premise. For example, David Gwilliam and Richard H.G. Historical cost accounting fails in terms of not only in relation to reporting current values, but also in terms of projecting future values. Fair value hence allows for better investment decision to be made, based on latest fair values reported. INDUSTRY FEEDBACK AND RESPONSE Critics of the US banking institutions have strongly criticised and blamed fair value accounting for aggravating the credit crisis, forcing the institutions to heavily slash the value of their mortgage assets, which resulted in weakening the regulatory capital ratios. The need to mark to market the financial instruments forced many financial institutions to incur large writedowns on the balance sheets. Without the regulatory cash cushion, inter bank and customer lending became severly hampered, thus creating a stagnant credit market. It is easy to make accounting rules the scapegoat when it comes to shifting blames. The reality is that had financial institutions adopted fair value accounting and its disclosure requirements early, they would have seen the writing on the wall. Still, it is hard to ignore the fact that the recent financial crisis has exposed some shortcomings of fair value accounting. I believe that persons who are proponents of the abolition of HBCUs are subconsciously practicing racism, because they are not making mention of the many schools in existence with a predominantly white student body; HBCUs are not meant to be a form of segregation but a part of history. I also believe that HBCUs are a better alternative to affirmative action. These institutions have the capacity to attract and motivate many young black people, to advance their education. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She argues that white, middle class men have pioneered the field of science since its inception. Since science has been championed exclusively by this particular party, science discounts aspects from other groups, especially females. In doing so, science is exposed a misguided subjective ideology that casts the feminine perspective in particular to the wayside. In addition, this narrow, one sided mindset lacks the ideas from those who are nonwhite and not middle class. Keller s argument regarding science being an objectivist discourse is a double edged sword. In her attempts to critique the whole population of white, middle class men, she ultimately generalizes them. In her arguments, she makes a sweeping assumption that science is a white supremacist, capitalistic, and male dominated discourse. Her generalizations from which her argumentation is based off is flawed. The basis of her arguments is coded in sexism, classism, and racism. Keller s entire claim revolves around how science being dominated by middle class white men is unacceptable. Her claim that science has evolved under the formative influence of a particular ideal of masculinity insinuates that science heavily favors white, middle class men and disregards everyone else. Her assertion of underrepresentation presupposes that these white, middle class men regard only themselves and fail to represent the rest of the population. This baseless claim paints ... • 32. Italy s Political And Economic On Going Crisis Question 1 Italy will be hosting a Renzi fied constitutional referendum this upcoming 4th of December and expect their voters to decide whether they approve of altering the constitution to restructure the legislative process by effectively reducing the upper chamber s power. Constitutional reform, with an exact motive to deprive the Senate of power, has been a desired goal since WW2. Italy s political and economic on going crisis has incentivized the Parliament to implement new enactments and thus far none of these laws have been effectively executed because of the legislatures intracameral conflict. Italy s method of navette has failed to resolve policy differences within the legislature with a never ending shuttle back and forth and thus has held the country captive in an ungovernable state. Ergo, Renzi believes the right path in his plan to stabilize the government is to change Italy s 56 year old constitution. Italy s parliament is structured under a symmetrical bicameral legislature with two chambers: Chamber of Deputies(hereafter referred to as lower house) and the Senate of the Republic(upper house). In order for a bill to be implemented, both houses have to approve the bill similarly, therefore without the confidence of both houses, attempts at implementing laws will continuously fail. Italy s bicameral system is placed in the upper left of the two dimensional chart because of the Senate s position as a frail political actor, therefore marking its system as ... • 33. Analysis Of The Movie 7 Series 7 Up series was created because the director wanted to show the world that a group of children could make a better nation. To be honest, 7 up series got my attention because recording fourteen people lives every seven years means a lot of work and dedication. Moreover, I feel that this series was created mostly to entertain the public all over the world which makes me feel concerned about all the characters involved. 7 up characters had the responsibility to show the world that you can succeed no matter your background. Also, I perceive this series played an important role to initiate reality TV shows. The 7 up series was famous worldwide that even Asia imitated it. Overall, the main reason this film was created was to have a glimpse of the future of England, which I found absurd because an entire nation is not defined by short film based on fourteen children. One of the advantages that you can appreciate from this film is that ambitions and life in general are not stable at all; however, personality and character traits tend to remain the same. The disadvantage that these characters had was that they didn t have the opportunity to choose if they wanted to be part of the program or not. These children exposed their personal and professional lives to the entire world. There were scenes in the film where the characters looked sentimental and uncomfortable, and the director kept recording. I found that really annoying and disrespectful because they invaded the characters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Phaedo by Plato Essay examples Phaedo by Plato The opening of Plato s Phaedo finds Socrates constructing a defense of the philosophical life. When consideration is given to the status of philosophy in Greece at the end of the fifth century BCE, such a defense seems unnecessary and, at the same time, difficult. This is because ancient Greece provides us with the origins of philosophy, and yet this particular period in history serves as a good demonstration of the public s general distaste for and persecution of it. Several philosophers, including Pythagoras, Anaxagoras, and Protagoras, were ridiculed and attacked for their beliefs. In spite of these social deterrents, Socrates remained faithful to his life long pursuit, even though it led to his demise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates believes that the entire philosophical endeavor is a preparation for death and that the true philosopher looks forward to dying. His students, however, cannot understand why the philosopher should want to die, and Socrates hopes to dispel their fears of death while bringing them to an awareness of a figurative death where desires cease to control the soul . In addition to noticing the figurative nature of death, he also wants them to give further consideration to the literal death as well. The distinction between these two types of death, figurative and literal, creates two possible avenues for the philosophical life. Socrates defines death as the release of the soul from the body . This definition implies both a view of death as placing distance between the soul and the body during this life and a complete separation at the moment of death. The responsibility of the philosopher is to seek liberation here in this life and, in so doing, to prepare for the afterlife, as preparation for both the literal and figurative deaths coalesce into a single activity. Liberation here in the visible realm comes from recognizing the hindering function of the body in the soul s search for knowledge. Socrates comments that a soul associated too closely with the body will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Raised in all wars in the world is difficult to understand the roots of conflicts, simplifying, the causes can be psychological, traditional or modern base. History is always present and is used as a motivating force, along with others, in almost every war there are economic reasons as secondary causes. In the Balkan War, it has historically been characterized by its high vulnerability to conflicts of low, medium and high intensity, especially because of the events that took place during this century, which have been decisive and marked conclusively the present conflict . One of the main problems of this war is the ethno nationalism, which has led to the creation of states identified with their national existence, by the refusal of the Political Marxist Leninist, for alternative policies ranging from tolerance to ethnic minorities to debugging, the latter being forced expulsion (minorities) of the disputed regions. Similarly the search for new definitions of Nation in the absence of democratic and cultural traditions in populations of states where ethnic groups are entitled to claim some territory.
