PERSUASION, INDOCTRINATION, AND INOCULATION 2 There are many dangers that plague
us in today s society. One of the most pressing issues is that of driving under the influence of alcohol.
This is a problem for many reasons. Firstly, driving while intoxicated is illegal. It shows the rising
problem of substance abuse, and most importantly, driving drunk is deadly. According to
Drinkinganddriving.org (2008 2013), 900,000 are arrested each year for DUI/DWI and a full 1/3 of
those are repeat offenders . None of us are perfect. We all do things every day that ... Show more

If you are convicted of DUI, it may be on your criminal record for your entire life. Offenses also go on
your driving record, which potential employers and insurers can access, ( How Stuff Works , 1998
2013). If you are driving under the influence of alcohol, the chances of you having a substance abuse
problem are very high. Substance abuse, simply put, is losing control of yourself to a substance. If you
do not have enough self control, or common sense, not to get into a vehicle when you have any type of
foreign substance in your body, then you have a serious problem. Sure, you may not be waking up at
eight in the morning and devouring a bottle of gin, but you are not only putting yourself in danger, but
also others. With the amount of people in the United states that have problems with alcohol, and the
amount of DUI s that are given, the correlation between the numbers is not at all surprising.
Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America. There are more than 12 million alcoholics in the
U.S. Three fourths of all adults drink alcohol, and 6% of them are alcoholics. Americans spend $197
million each day on alcohol. In the United States, a person is killed in an alcohol related car accident
every 30 minutes. A 2000 study found nearly 7 million persons age 12 to 20 were binge drinkers.
Three fourths of all high school seniors report being drunk at least once. Adolescents who begin
drinking before the age of 15 are four

Ancient Heroes Vs. Medieval Ideals
Ancient ideals of heroism vs. medieval ideals of heroism Who can be a hero? What does a hero look
like? What actions are heroic? What qualities are heroic?
The Ancient ideals of heroism and the medieval ideals of heroism have many similarities as well as
some key differing characteristics. A similar trait is that the heroes are all male in these stories. This is
a reflection of the male dominated societies of Ancient Greece and Medieval times. Both types of
heroes are put through tests some are physical and some may be psychological.
Ancient heroes are typically of royal birth or have god like qualities. They are often warriors and must
perform extraordinary feats when required. A hero usually has a noble character but has ... Show more

Thor from Prose Edda
Thor s quest is to go to Utgard and have the giants consider them as confident and fearless. Thor has
to overcome the fear of the giants attacking him because the giants are the enemies of the people of

giants make Thor perform almost impossible tasks but they use illusions to make the tasks seem
simple so it makes Thor look like a fool.
Flaws and fears In addition to reflecting positive values and admirable characteristics, most heroes
have flaws or shortcomings that reflect the fears of their people. What flaws do these men have, and
what do those flaws reveal about the concerns and fears of the ancient Greek people and the medieval

Rough Draft (4pgs)
Title: Sex Education and Birth Control should be enforced to prevent Teenage Pregnancies
Approximately one million teens get pregnant and give birth every year in the United States. Eighty
percent of those births are to unmarried teens (ProQuest Staff) . Teenage Pregnancy is when a
mentally immature female adolescent under the age of nineteen is pregnant. Pregnant Teenagers would
have to face many consequences and problems because they are physically and mentally unprepared
to have babies. The teenagers futures would be limited because they would have to quit high school to
care for their babies and it have been proven that the adolescents would mostly be poor when they
become adults. They would also be prone to health problems like high blood pressure, premature
birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be the only that would be affected,
their babies would also be affected because it might be born premature and there is a high possibility
that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children that were born by teenagers do worse in
school than other children born from adults. Teenage Pregnancy should be prevented because it does
not have any positive affects to the people in the United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex
education and birth controls because it would make adolescents more aware about the consequences
and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and

Egalitarianism In Australia
Introduction
Australian society is often defined as egalitarian since the government equally accepts the diversity of
population regardless of their personal backgrounds, socioeconomic status, health condition and
political opinions. The society is supposed to attach importance to the fair civil liberties, protect local
industries and provide every resident with welfare support, the opportunity of education and
employment. However, after world economy crisis brought great global change in the 1980s,
Australian political policy dramatically changed into profitability toward this competitive global
economy. This includes the decrease in protectionism, privatization of institutions, further
employment bargaining and also reduction of the subsidy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the federation in 1901, this nation practiced protectionism for national industrial development
such as iron, steel, woolen goods, and motors. The regime set more than 60 percent tariff wall for
import and export to secure local income and employments in growing population. Consequently the
allocation of importation in Australia conserved more than 80 percent for the local markets, but also
maintained generous working conditions for employers and employee (Abbott, 1997). The regime also
focused on the wage fairness and providing welfare benefits based on the needs of families and the
individuals to maintain their standard living (Anderson, 1938). The government practiced strong
encouragement and created an environment for working and middle class population to participate in
universities with financial support between the 1940s and the 1990s. Naturally, the university system
and the governmental policy resulted in an increase rate of university students and the low level of
employment, which was around three percent in 1940 1970 (Gale Parker, 2013; Loundes, 1997).
There were supports for persons who have chronicle diseases and the government provided state
government housing for population who had financial difficulties. Therefore, this country started to be

Axeon decided to manufacture AR 42 in the Netherlands for sale in the U.K., transport and custom

The Chemical industry for industrial coatings was based on a low cost, high volume strategy, which
forced producers to focus on cost cutting measures.

Axeon s senior leadership team emphasizes a high degree of decentralization. Furthermore, Axeon has
grown through inorganic growth due to the acquisitions in Europe. In addition, they let subsidiaries
prepare business cases, select products to be sold, sourced, or manufactured. At times decentralization
was so strong that sister companies were allowed producing products that would directly compete
with Axeon s Dutch products.
ISSUE DESCRIPTION
The issue that Anton van Leuven faces is the approval of the proposal to build a manufacturing plant
in the UK to facilitate local sales of the AR 42 product. Specifically, product and marketing business
units of Axeon perceived the sales projections as optimistic. Anton Van Leuven required further

The Jacksonian Democratic Party And The Whig Party
The Jacksonian Democratic Party and the Whig Party each, exemplified different beliefs on the role of
the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion in the 1830s and 1840s.
However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic Whig
party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their supporters
wished to settle. The lack of similarities is because the Whigs formed their own party to oppose
President Jackson s strong armed leadership style and policies which earned him the nickname King
Andrew. The Jacksonian Democratic Party evolved out of the Democratic Republican Party in the
early 1800s, the core of its membership was composed of farmers, immigrants, and white Southerners.
The Whigs formed in 1834 and lasted for 20 years, they were the major political party that opposed
Andrew Jackson. The Whigs were created based upon the Federalist beliefs in a strong federal
government and adopted many Federalist and National Republican policy ideas, including federal
funding for internal improvements, a central bank, and high tariffs to protect the growth of
manufacturing enterprises. Overall, the Jacksonian Democratic agrarian Party and the industrialization
supporting Whig Party had different beliefs toward the role of the federal government in the economy
and towards westward expansion. The role of the federal government in the economy was a heated

Muslim and Hindu Wedding Ceremony
INTRODUCTION:
The Islamic and Hindu religions have an array of similarities and differences regarding their customs
and laws in relation to the wedding ceremony .
Within Islam, the wedding ceremony is believed to be both a religious and social obligation to get
married. As a result, there is a great weight placed on religious, social and cultural dimensions of the
ceremony which tends to be simple in nature, paralleling Islamic beliefs. Hindus also place a lot of
importance on marriage ceremonies which signify customs, rituals and elaborate celebrations.
However, a key difference lies in the fact that Islamic marriages are seen as contractual agreements,
whereas Hindu marriages are perceived to be sacrilegious.

The Hindu service is performed by a male Brahmin priest ( Pundit ), in accordance with the holy
verses ( mantras ) from the Vedas the Hindu Holy Book. Often the ceremony can be conducted in
Sanskrit which gets its roots from Hinduism and embraces a rich tradition of poetry as well as
practical and philosophical texts.
The Venue
An Islamic wedding ceremony can take place in many places apart from a Mosque, even though a
Mosque is highly preferred. Before the ceremony, the bride and groom should find out whether it s
possible to video and take photos of the event. Flowers and ornaments are not allowed in the Mosque
even though the bride and groom are decorated with flowers for the service. If the ceremony takes
place in a venue which isn t a Mosque, the bride and groom have more freedom to decorate, providing
they seek advice from the local Imam , of what is appropriate.
The Hindu marriage usually takes in the bride s hometown or city. The venue is generally a town or
community hall, or a hotel, depending on the budget of the bride s family. There are often blessings in
the temple before or after the service.
Wedding Attire
Customarily, the Arab Muslim bride wears a simple white dress and veil, very similar to the Christian
faith. An Asian Muslim bride however, is much more colourful and wears glittering clothes, plenty of
jewellery and flower garlands around her. The hands and feet of the bride are often decorated with
henna ( Mehndi ). The

In 2014, myocardial infarctions were the second lead cause of death in Northern Ireland, proceeded

They occur as a result of an imbalance between the demand for oxygen and its supply by the coronary

the main cause of the condition is produced as a result of atheroma.
Under normal physiological conditions platelets mediate the coagulation of blood and have an

inappropriate and threatening activation of platelets becomes apparent. Indeed, it is a well known

Allusion In Away By Michael Gow
Michael Gow s Away is a stage play about three socioeconomically varied families and their different
holiday experiences. Throughout the play, Gow alludes to many of Shakespeare s texts to deepen the
audiences understanding of the performance. Distinct connections are shown between Gow s Away
and Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, The Tempest and King Lear. These references
feature through direct use of lines, characters, theatrical conventions and themes. This essay will
explore each of these methods of allusion and explain how this use of intertextuality heightens
audience comprehension. The first of the techniques Gow used throughout Away was the use of direct
quotes from the Shakespearian plays, A Midsummer Night s Dream and King Lear. The quote If we
shadows have offended/ Think but this and all is mended/ You have but slumbered here spoken in
Away by Tom (Away: Act 1, Scene 1/ A Midsummer Night s Dream: Act 5, Scene 1), suggests ...

Many kinds of love are displayed within Away, including parental love, matrimonial love and teenage

each kind include: Gwen and Meg/Titania and Indian Boy displaying parental love, Coral and
Roy/Hermia and Demitrius displaying matrimonial love, and an infatuation is displayed between Meg
and Tom/Bottom and Titania. The use of many kinds of love allows stronger connections between
kinds of characters to be made, gaining depth of understanding through the relationship between Gow
s and Shakespeare s works. Destruction is the other outstanding common theme displaying clear
intertextuality. The use of a storm in Away allows the audience to make the connection to Shakespeare
s King Lear, in which the characters face environmental adversity as well as the adversities of others.

Struggle and Disillusionment in Hamlet Essays
Shakespeare s employment of dramatic struggle and disillusionment through his character Hamlet,
contributes to the continued engagement of modern audiences. The employment of the soliloquy
demonstrates Shakespeare s approach to the dramatic treatment of these emotions. The soliloquy
brings a compensating intimacy, and becomes the means by which Shakespeare brings the audience
not only to a knowledge of secret thoughts of characters, but into the closest emotional touch with
them too. Through this, the audiences therefore gain a closer relationship with Hamlet, and are
absorbed by him because they are able to resonate with his circumstances, as he is faced with enduring
truths of the human condition. Through these, the struggle and ... Show more content on

The struggle is suggested through the existential questions that Hamlet asks, suggesting a battle with
his conscience. The symbol of the world is a motif throughout the play, being described as flat , weary
, distracted , out of frame , out of joint , out of time , rotten and rank . Hamlet displays his struggle and
disillusionment for the world by using metonymy and juxtaposition throughout his soliloquy. Sea of
troubles and thousand natural shocks are alluded to in his speech in order to express his
disillusionment, communicating a counterpointing between the divine or earthly and the profane. This
idea is continues in O that this too too sullied ... (Act 1 Scene 2), His speech is saturated with
suggestions of rot and corruption, as seen in the basic usage of words like rank (138) and gross (138),
and in the metaphor associating the world with an unweeded garden (137). Shakespeare uses
juxtaposition and contrast to enhance these feelings of disgust, contempt and inadequacy.
Hamlet displays disillusionment about women throughout the course of the play. This struggle to
come to terms with his mother s second marriage and disillusionment from the pure and angelic
women is present from early on. In his first soliloquy, O that this too too sullied ... (Act 1 Scene 2),
Hamlet censures his mother s moral weakness as a woman (146). His disillusionment is shown when

awarded to Tyrus Chornwick, collecting 6.11 pounds.
[As you can see,] we had several anglers rewarded with some pretty respectable size flathead catfish
for any tournament, Cunningham said.
According to Cunningham s log book, the largest catch of the year was a 40.9 pounder in Imperial
Valley and a 39 pounder flathead caught on last year.
Since this is a five part series fishing competition, Cunningham said the next leg of the tournament

October for the Grand Championship at Max s Bait Shop in Palo Verde.
At the last event in October, we will crown the flathead king and the channel king, Cunningham said.

Acute Urbanization And The City Of Mumbai
The year 2010 is estimated to mark the transition of a majority (50.6%) of the world‟s population
from rural to urban. UNPD. (2007) The most alarming implications of rapid urbanization include
irrevocable alteration of local and global environments, unsustainable exploitation of natural resources
and widening social equity gaps within urban areas. With the migration of masses from rural to urban
ares cities are overcrowded and vulnerability and exposure aspects accruing it are in the state of
change. Against this background it is imperative to examine the responses from these urban masses to
the various disasters in the urban areas. One particularly problematic aspect of this challenge is the
selection of appropriate adjustments and adaptations to natural hazards that are exacerbated by
urbanization. The present dissertation seeks to examine the existing approaches to flood hazard risk
reduction in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.Floods are considered the most common and
highly damaging of all hazards, and it has been predicted that they are likely to become more frequent,
more prevalent and more serious in the years to come (Muchtar Bahar 2010) especially in fast
growing cities of the world which are witnessing rapid urbanisation. Compared to other types of
natural disasters, they account for approximately 20 40% of the events which are reported (Sene
2008). Their nature is governed by various factors, which include the properties of the drainage,

What Is The Boston Massacre
It was March 5, 1770, the people of Boston were protesting out in front of the old state house. British
soldiers patrolling King street, people hollering, this was the Boston Massacre. Soldiers were sent to
Boston to maintain control over the colonist and they were not contented. A crowd has rapidly formed
and they were tossing things such as, rock filled snowballs, bricks, and stones while being insulted.
Quoting from witnesses, ¨lobster backs¨, ¨red coats¨, cowards! And quoting Henry Knox, ¨For God´s

General Preston had wanted to be prepared and his only intentions were to ¨protect the city of Boston.

Stability Ball Experiment
In this study, two classrooms of fourth grade students were tested to see if using yoga stability balls
instead of chairs will increase the amount of physical activity and focus throughout the school day.
The American Journal of Occupational Therapy explains, Physical activity data were collected during
10 school days within a 3 wk period (1 week on, 1 week off, 1 week on) (Erwin, H. E., Fedewa, A.,
Soyeon, A., Thornton, M., 2016). By doing this type of scheduled procedure, the students would not
be distracted and also will show a better correlation of physical activity and behavior while using the
stability ball. The American Journal of Occupational Therapy explains, Students were engaged in light
intensity levels of physical activity while on stability balls ( Erwin, H. E., Fedewa, A., Soyeon, A.,

infer that the device placed on them will be tampered with based on curiosity. The device used was
called an accelerometer, similar to the pedometer used in lab 5 of kin 3502. Only significant difference
is that the pedometer only tracks steps while the accelerometer track overall physical activity. The
study shows that the average steps per day were 4,242 in week one and 2,976 in week 2 (Erwin, H. E.,

Figurative Language In The Veldt
Through the entirety of The Veldt, the reader can tell that something is not right and that something
bad is going to happen. The reader can tell this because of the authors amazing use of imagery,
diction, and figurative language to foreshadow the end of the story. Throughout the story, the author
foreshadows the ending of the story by using imagery to describe Africa, carefully using diction to
give of an eerie feeling, and using figurative language in strange ways to describe things. First, the
author uses imagery to describe Africa and the horrors of it. In the text it says, so feverishly and
startlingly real that you could feel the prickling fur on your hand, and your mouth was stuffed with the

the Dietary Guidelines. The role of the Dietary Guidelines is to inform people on the best foods to eat
the appropriate calorie portions and which nutrients to consume more as well as which ones to avoid.
Indeed, the Dietary Guidelines are essential in aiding Americans to lead a healthy life. However, there
are concerns from various sources such as Nestle and others that the Dietary Guidelines provided by
the government, are influenced by political power.1 It is important that the information on nutrition
that is granted to the American people is reliable. It should be updated, well researched and not

Stylisticism In The Swimmer Poem
The Liffey Swim is a painting capturing the annual Dublin river race. It cleverly depicts the crowd
gathered flowing out of the painting. This makes the viewer feel like they are a part of the artwork and
action that is taking place in the painting. The crowd leaning forward and the passengers passing by
on the tram trying to catch a glimpse of the race, bring the viewers eyes to the three swimmers
portrayed trying to see for themselves, what everyone is paying attention too. Yeats captures the
atmosphere and thrill of an event that has been part of Dublin s annual sporting calendar since 1920 1.

They both portray people during important life events and memories. The most obvious difference is
the abandonment of realism and trying to portray the scenes truthfully. In the first painting, The Liffey
Swim, Yeats evidently tries to be precise and accurate and to depict the scene truthfully. Yeats, in his
early works, adopted Sickett s use of short thick strokes of paint and his manner of correlating colour
2. The colours he used are very neutral, mostly browns, dark blues, muddy reds, and dull yellows,
with a contrasting light blue sky which brightens the painting. His use of warm and cold colours
creates unity and variety. His use of warm earthy colours in the foreground creates unity. However, the
contrast between the warm earthy colours in the foreground and the cool blue colours in the
background create variety. The waves in the water create a sense of motion and are slightly more
curved around the swimmers showing their impact on the movement of the water. The people depicted
leaning forward also create a sense of motion and action taking place. This sense of movement directs

Road Bike Advantages And Disadvantages
MTB or ATB is an abbreviation for mountain or all terrain bicycle. Their construction differs from a
normal bicycle as they have suspensioned frame to stand the mountain trails, logging roads ,
washouts, loose gravel, roots and all other unpaved conditions they are often used in. Other than that
they have knobby treaded heavy duty wheels, more powerful brakes and lower gear ratios to withstand
steep hills with poor traction. As a result of this development in 1970s many kinds of different
mountain bikes appeared on the market as cross country, freeride and downhill MTBs.

It takes around five percent materials and energy used to make a car to build a bicycle and it produces
zero pollution.
Avoid pollution
You might think that a cyclist sucks up more pollution than a driver of a car or a bus passenger, but
this is wrong according to the research conducted by Imperial college in London. The car driver sucks
up more exhaust fumes (ultrafarine particles that can damage our lung cells),an average car driver
sucks up more than 100 000 particles per cubic centimeter, more than 10 times bigger amount of
inhaled pollution than the cyclist does, as the cyclist rides at the edge of the road not in the line of
exposure.

Beat illness
Forget about diets, riding is the best way to keep doctor away! Moderate exercise makes immune cells
more active so they re ready to fight off infection, says Cath Collins, a chief dietician at St. Georges
Hospital in London.
Lose weight
A lot of people think that running is the best way for slimming down. This is right but think about it if
a person weights 120kg and every time he hits his/her feet to the ground all of the force goes to the
skeleton. So start cycling, where most of the weight is supported by the saddle.

Good And The Social Sectors
Good to Great and the Social Sectors: A Monograph to Accompany Good to Great is the companion
piece of Good to Great. It uses the idea that leadership is foundational piece to build greatness upon.
Jim Collins and his team of researchers have authored six books books about business leadership and
what makes great companies successful. He lays out four stages of discipline with each having its
guiding principles as the framework of ideas for the book. Many people who read Good to Great have
asked how to apply the key principles to social sector organizations. So Collins authored the
companion piece, Good to Great and the Social Sectors: A Monograph to Accompany Good to Great.
In it, he outlines the use of the culture of discipline in social sectors and that it is not a principle of
business; it is a principle of greatness. Because the principles outlined in the original book are not
directed to those with business acumen they can be applied widely to all endeavors. Good to Great and
the Social Sector shows the principles in Good to Great do apply to the social sector and to answer
questions about perceived difference between business and social sectors.
In applying the principles of Good to Great, calibrating success shows up as a top question social
sector readers ask about when trying to apply the principles. Social sector organizations do not have
the same input and outputs for measurement that businesses have. Money is an input and not a
measure of greatness in the

Comparing Hamlet And Gregory Doran s Film Version Of The Play
William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Gregory Doran s film version of the play, have the same characters
and main story, the plot is the same and the same actions occur, however, like any other movie based
on a play or book has its differences.
The atmosphere that Doran uses in his movie its completely different to the one in the play, while
Shakespeare s Hamlet occurs during the late medieval period, Doran puts a modern spin in the film,
by adding modern day situations and places, as well as the way the characters are dressed, the modern
day objects they use, or the surveillance cameras that are located in the castle which allows to see
what is happening around, suggesting a feeling of always being watched and controlled .
Throughout the film, some changes from the play can be appreciated; at the very beginning, the first
scene is seen through a surveillance camera placed on the up corner of a platform before the castle,
from where we can see Bernardo and Francisco. The dialogue between the characters has some
differences from the play, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The character seems to be more dramatic and expressive than in the play, this can be analyzed

and bends down to express his anger and looks at the camera several times, these is known as breaking
the fourth wall actors aren t supposed to do that while acting, but in these occasion maybe what Donan
wanted to show is that Hamlet knew that there was always someone watching him, and he wanted to
let them know that he was aware. After his soliloquy he moves from the camera, and Horatio appear,
and actions of affection not described in the play can be seen, Hamlet happily gives him a hug and
Horatio tells him about the ghost that looks like his father and they agree to meet up that same night.

Ozl Financial Statement
OZ Minerals Limited (ASX code: OZL) is a modern mining company based in Australia where their
main focus are on copper. They own the Carrapateena and Prominent Hill copper gold mine, both
situated in South Australia. OZL has a weightage of 0.08% in the market. OZL and its wholly owned
Australian controlled entities are part of a tax consolidated group where OZL is the head of the tax
consolidated group.
The objectives of this report is to provide a thorough analysis and relevant information in respect of
income taxation for shareholders so they will have an in depth insights on the financial standing of the
OZL. This can be done so by comparing information between the current year of 2014 and prior year
of the financial statement of the firm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main factors that contributed to this contrasting difference are due to the changes in unrestricted
tax losses and offsets. Since OZL has made a tax loss in FY2013, it is able to recognise a DTA of
$109.7mil to represent a tax saving so the taxable amounts will be available in the future to utilise the
temporary differences, losses and offsets. The tax loss is carried forward as a deduction against future
taxable income (Leo, Hoggett, Sweeting, Nicholson, 2012) in FY2014 by partially reversing the DTA
by $35mil.
The deductible temporary differences between the carrying value and the tax bases of
depreciation/amortization is higher in FY2014 due to the higher asset balance as a result of the
deferred stripping asset and increased ore mined which increased the expense for the year.
The income tax refund has reduced from $6.5mil in FY2013 to $0.8million in FY2014. In FY2013 the
refund is for franking purposes whereas in FY2014, the refund is claimed from the income taxes

Persuasive Essay On Work
People who matter aren t playing attention
People do not have the time to keep up with what you are doing. Quite honestly, people have difficulty
keeping up with themselves much less anyone else. In fact, if you are not in their face on a constant
basis, you will be largely forgotten. You complete your work with no problems. Everything gets done,
and there are no problems. For this, you need to make sure that you are on their radar.
Avoid repetition of your past achievements, you don t want to become old news. Focus on recent
achievements
Contribute to conversations by asking good questions
Work on confidence to speak up when you have something relevant to other people
What are you working on? don t say not much
Wrong answer: not much
Right answer: I am working on X to solve Y problem. We hope to save Z dollars when we are done.
This lets people know that you are doing something important. They are more likely to remember this
as opposed to the not much . Even worse, the wrong answer might put you on the radar for layoffs
when people do not know what you are doing.
Ask for what you want
When I was at Dell, I wanted to get yellow belt certified in Six Sigma, but the class was relatively

Prisoner Number 600001 Summary
In Prisoner Number 600001 , Tessa Morris Suzuki argues that Matsushita Kazutoshi, a Japanese
soldier who fought in the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean wars, shows the harsh truth of the treatment
of prisoners of war by the forces of the United Nations. After abandoning his country, Kazutoshi
became a prisoner of war to both China and Korea. Most people don t think about all of the things that
prisoners of war had to go through and how the things that they had to do would scar them for life.
They were forced to fight in wars that they had nothing to do with and fulfill any other needs that they
had. Suzuki shows Kazutoshi s life journey through his time as a POW, which also sheds a light on
how deeply involved each country was involved in its neighbors business during the wars. ... Show

Who Was The Greatest Leader In Ww2 Essay
Who was the greatest leader in World War 2? Why
Greatest leader in WW2
World War 2 had many great leaders, Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, Hirohito, and many
more but in complete honesty when thinking of World War 2 another man comes to mind. That man
name is Adolf Hitler. He may have done many horrible things but one can not deny how great of a
leader he was. So although he was not a great person due to the damage he had done but he was truly a
fantastic leader due to how he rose to power, how popular he was in germany, and what he was able to
accomplish.
Adolf hitler first became known in WW1. He served in the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment
in 1914. Then a couple years later in 1920 he was discharged from the army and then takes
responsibility for Publicity and Propaganda. By leading that he was able to change the party name to

when Adolf Hitler was the leader of germany he did alot of bad things. The most obvious is

and millions of jews and really did think of it as an accomplishment. Another thing was how many
wars he was a part of and actually caused. Hitler won many of the wars if not most of the wars he was
a part of. Hitler believed his army was superior but he didn t think he would be able to rule the world.
His plan was to just build a greater German empire but was shocked when France and Britain declared
war on him when invading Poland. After that his success started to fade. He lost more battles and
germany was once again defeated in another World War. Hitler decided to avoid facing his
consequences and ultimately chose to end his

Gummy Bear Lab Report
Background: In my experiment, I am trying to see how different solutions varying in pH levels will
affect the shape and weight of gummy bears. The main ingredient in most gummy bears is gelatin.
Gelatin is a collagen. It is derived from animals such as pig skin, cow skin or bones. In the United
States, gummy bears are made of gelatin. In other parts of the world where eating pork is not accepted,
gummy bears are made with a substitute of gelatin. Some ingredients used to make gummy bears
include sugar, citric acid, gelatin, starch and food coloring. In this experiment, I hope to see how
osmosis and diffusion will play a role in the interaction between the gummy bears and the different
solutions. Osmosis occurs when water moves from low solute concentration to high solute
concentration. On the other hand, diffusion occurs when particles in the water move from high
concentration to low concentration. I also to seek to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that more acid solutions will most likely affect the form and shape of a gummy bear. The
gelatin in the gummy bear result in weaker bonds due to the acidity of the apple cider vinegar solution.
The Smart water and tap water gummy bear were over expanded probably due to osmosis. The water
moved from outside the gummy bear into the gummy bear because there is a high solute concentration
in the gummy bears. The gummy bear in the honey solution probably did not expand much due to the
solute concentration of the water and gummy bear. It did lose its shape due to the acidity of the
solution. When put in alkaline conditions, such as salt water, the gummy bear will most likely not lose
its shape. All in all, the different pH levels of solutions can affect the form and shape of a gummy
bear. The more acidic a solution is, a gummy bear will most likely lose its form and shape. The
gummy bears most likely will expand due to osmosis that occurs within the solution and gummy

Martinez PSY 285 Instructor: Chris Shreve PERSUASION, INDOCTRINATION, AND INOCULATION 2 There are many dangers that plague us in today s society. One of the most pressing issues is that of driving under the influence of alcohol. This is a problem for many reasons. Firstly, driving while intoxicated is illegal. It shows the rising problem of substance abuse, and most importantly, driving drunk is deadly. According to Drinkinganddriving.org (2008 2013), 900,000 are arrested each year for DUI/DWI and a full 1/3 of those are repeat offenders . None of us are perfect. We all do things every day that ... If you are driving under the influence of alcohol, the chances of you having a substance abuse problem are very high. Substance abuse, simply put, is losing control of yourself to a substance. Sure, you may not be waking up at eight in the morning and devouring a bottle of gin, but you are not only putting yourself in danger, but also others. With the amount of people in the United states that have problems with alcohol, and the amount of DUI s that are given, the correlation between the numbers is not at all surprising. Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America. There are more than 12 million alcoholics in the U.S. Three fourths of all adults drink alcohol, and 6% of them are alcoholics. Americans spend $197 million each day on alcohol. In the United States, a person is killed in an alcohol related car accident every 30 minutes. A 2000 study found nearly 7 million persons age 12 to 20 were binge drinkers. Three fourths of all high school seniors report being drunk at least once. After the federation in 1901, this nation practiced protectionism for national industrial development such as iron, steel, woolen goods, and motors. The regime set more than 60 percent tariff wall for import and export to secure local income and employments in growing population. Consequently the allocation of importation in Australia conserved more than 80 percent for the local markets, but also maintained generous working conditions for employers and employee (Abbott, 1997). The regime also focused on the wage fairness and providing welfare benefits based on the needs of families and the individuals to maintain their standard living (Anderson, 1938). The government practiced strong encouragement and created an environment for working and middle class population to participate in universities with financial support between the 1940s and the 1990s. It uses the idea that leadership is foundational piece to build greatness upon. Jim Collins and his team of researchers have authored six books books about business leadership and what makes great companies successful. He lays out four stages of discipline with each having its guiding principles as the framework of ideas for the book. Many people who read Good to Great have asked how to apply the key principles to social sector organizations. So Collins authored the companion piece, Good to Great and the Social Sectors: A Monograph to Accompany Good to Great. In it, he outlines the use of the culture of discipline in social sectors and that it is not a principle of business; it is a principle of greatness. Because the principles outlined in the original book are not directed to those with business acumen they can be applied widely to all endeavors. Good to Great and the Social Sector shows the principles in Good to Great do apply to the social sector and to answer questions about perceived difference between business and social sectors. In applying the principles of Good to Great, calibrating success shows up as a top question social sector readers ask about when trying to apply the principles. Social sector organizations do not have the same input and outputs for measurement that businesses have. Money is an input and not a measure of greatness in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Comparing Hamlet And Gregory Doran s Film Version Of The Play William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Gregory Doran s film version of the play, have the same characters and main story, the plot is the same and the same actions occur, however, like any other movie based on a play or book has its differences. The atmosphere that Doran uses in his movie its completely different to the one in the play, while Shakespeare s Hamlet occurs during the late medieval period, Doran puts a modern spin in the film, by adding modern day situations and places, as well as the way the characters are dressed, the modern day objects they use, or the surveillance cameras that are located in the castle which allows to see what is happening around, suggesting a feeling of always being watched and controlled . Throughout the film, some changes from the play can be appreciated; at the very beginning, the first scene is seen through a surveillance camera placed on the up corner of a platform before the castle, from where we can see Bernardo and Francisco. The character seems to be more dramatic and expressive than in the play, this can be analyzed throughout the several soliloquies in different scenes of the film, in his first soliloquy, Hamlet cries and bends down to express his anger and looks at the camera several times, these is known as breaking the fourth wall actors aren t supposed to do that while acting, but in these occasion maybe what Donan wanted to show is that Hamlet knew that there was always someone watching him, and he wanted to let them know that he was aware. After his soliloquy he moves from the camera, and Horatio appear, and actions of affection not described in the play can be seen, Hamlet happily gives him a hug and Horatio tells him about the ghost that looks like his father and they agree to meet up that same night. The main factors that contributed to this contrasting difference are due to the changes in unrestricted tax losses and offsets. Since OZL has made a tax loss in FY2013, it is able to recognise a DTA of $109.7mil to represent a tax saving so the taxable amounts will be available in the future to utilise the temporary differences, losses and offsets. The tax loss is carried forward as a deduction against future taxable income (Leo, Hoggett, Sweeting, Nicholson, 2012) in FY2014 by partially reversing the DTA by $35mil. The deductible temporary differences between the carrying value and the tax bases of depreciation/amortization is higher in FY2014 due to the higher asset balance as a result of the deferred stripping asset and increased ore mined which increased the expense for the year. The income tax refund has reduced from $6.5mil in FY2013 to $0.8million in FY2014. In FY2013 the refund is for franking purposes whereas in FY2014, the refund is claimed from the income taxes recoverable in respect of net operating loss carry forward for FY2013 (Australian Accounting Standards Board, ... Quite honestly, people have difficulty keeping up with themselves much less anyone else. In fact, if you are not in their face on a constant basis, you will be largely forgotten. You complete your work with no problems. Everything gets done, and there are no problems. For this, you need to make sure that you are on their radar. Avoid repetition of your past achievements, you don t want to become old news. We hope to save Z dollars when we are done. This lets people know that you are doing something important. They are more likely to remember this as opposed to the not much . Even worse, the wrong answer might put you on the radar for layoffs when people do not know what you are doing. Prisoner Number 600001 Summary In Prisoner Number 600001 , Tessa Morris Suzuki argues that Matsushita Kazutoshi, a Japanese soldier who fought in the Japanese, Chinese, and Korean wars, shows the harsh truth of the treatment of prisoners of war by the forces of the United Nations. After abandoning his country, Kazutoshi became a prisoner of war to both China and Korea. Most people don t think about all of the things that prisoners of war had to go through and how the things that they had to do would scar them for life. They were forced to fight in wars that they had nothing to do with and fulfill any other needs that they had. Suzuki shows Kazutoshi s life journey through his time as a POW, which also sheds a light on how deeply involved each country was involved in its neighbors business during the wars. ... • 37. Who Was The Greatest Leader In Ww2 Essay Who was the greatest leader in World War 2? Why Greatest leader in WW2 World War 2 had many great leaders, Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, Hirohito, and many more but in complete honesty when thinking of World War 2 another man comes to mind. That man name is Adolf Hitler. He may have done many horrible things but one can not deny how great of a leader he was. So although he was not a great person due to the damage he had done but he was truly a fantastic leader due to how he rose to power, how popular he was in germany, and what he was able to accomplish. Adolf hitler first became known in WW1. He served in the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment in 1914. Then a couple years later in 1920 he was discharged from the army and then takes responsibility for Publicity and Propaganda. His plan was to just build a greater German empire but was shocked when France and Britain declared war on him when invading Poland. After that his success started to fade. • 38. Gummy Bear Lab Report Background: In my experiment, I am trying to see how different solutions varying in pH levels will affect the shape and weight of gummy bears. The main ingredient in most gummy bears is gelatin. Gelatin is a collagen. It is derived from animals such as pig skin, cow skin or bones. In the United States, gummy bears are made of gelatin. In other parts of the world where eating pork is not accepted, gummy bears are made with a substitute of gelatin. Some ingredients used to make gummy bears include sugar, citric acid, gelatin, starch and food coloring. In this experiment, I hope to see how osmosis and diffusion will play a role in the interaction between the gummy bears and the different solutions. Osmosis occurs when water moves from low solute concentration to high solute concentration. On the other hand, diffusion occurs when particles in the water move from high concentration to low concentration. I also to seek to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that more acid solutions will most likely affect the form and shape of a gummy bear. The gelatin in the gummy bear result in weaker bonds due to the acidity of the apple cider vinegar solution. The Smart water and tap water gummy bear were over expanded probably due to osmosis. The water moved from outside the gummy bear into the gummy bear because there is a high solute concentration in the gummy bears. The gummy bear in the honey solution probably did not expand much due to the solute concentration of the water and gummy bear. It did lose its shape due to the acidity of the solution. When put in alkaline conditions, such as salt water, the gummy bear will most likely not lose its shape. All in all, the different pH levels of solutions can affect the form and shape of a gummy bear. The more acidic a solution is, a gummy bear will most likely lose its form and shape.
