7 Layers Of The OSI Model
OSI Layers The OSI model shows how the hardware and software function together in order to enable
communication between the computers. The OSI model is basically a framework of how the device
operate on the network. Assume that user A sends data to user B through internet, the data has to travel
the network to reach user B computer. During the data transfer, the data has to navigate through many
intermediate nodes. To ensure the data transfer from user A to user B correctly and securely, so we
need protocols to guide these data. These group of protocols are called communication model. OSI
model is one of the communication model. Open System Interconnection (OSI) is made up of 7 layers,
each layer has their own unique functions and protocols. Control is passed from one layer to another
layer, start at application layer which is layer 7 to physical layer which is layer 1. The framework for

Nasa Astronaut Research Paper
I was a curious boy. I was born and raised in Nashville TN alongside my older sister. Ever since I was
seven, I ve strived to be an astronaut and explore the expansions of space. After World War III, the
United States rebooted their space program, with the funding and resources at an all time high. On the
eve of my ninth birthday, I, along with the rest of the world, received the news that One of Jupiter s
moons was reached and prepared for colonization, marking the second space body fit to be home to
humans after Mars. Graduating high school with a perfect record, I set my sights on the Massachusetts

Analysis Of The Film Dead Man Walking
Introduction The theoretical perspective I found most convincing when analyzing the behavior of the
main character, Mathew Poncelot, in the film, Dead Man Walking, are the ideologies of sociologist
Max Weber. He believed that rather than only focusing on one s social actions, it is instead important
to understand why people do the things that they do (Long Crowell). Empathizing with individuals
and identifying their perspectives explains one s rationales behind each choice and behavior (Long
Crowell). By gaining an understanding of an individual s point of view, we can make sense of their
reality and how their perceptions affect their role in our world (DuBose, 2015). Weber s theory
supports that Poncelot s behaviors can be explained by evaluating the rationale behind the factors that
influenced and affected the choices he made. His childhood experiences, family values, education
level, social class, and economic status were crucial factors when explaining why he became the
person he was. Furthermore, the combination of Poncelot s thoughts and actions were based on the
experiences and social interactions he encountered. Throughout this analysis, I will reflect on the
various theoretical perspectives discussed this semester and what I have learned from each of these
concepts. I will address why I found Weber s theory most convincing and apply connections between
theories as they relate to understanding social problems and the values of daily social work practices.

B. Characteristics of Exporters Research conducted on the characteristics of exporters has resulted in
two basic conclusions: (i) the probability of exporting increases with size of company revenues and
(ii) export intensity (the percentage of total revenues generated by exports) is not positively correlated
with company size. Factors such as the risk profile of management and the nature of industry
competition are just as important as firm size. C. Stages of Export Development Firms tend to move
through three phases of export development: pre engagement, initial exporting, and advanced
exporting. As they do so, they tend to (i) export to more countries and (ii) expect exports to grow as a
percentage of total sales. In addition, they also tend to (iii) diversify their markets to more distant
countries and (iv) move into environments that are increasingly different from those of their home
countries. (Figure 13.2).
D. Pitfalls of Exporting The operational mistakes associated with exporting can be very costly. Most
new exporters stumble once or twice before experiencing consistent success. Export specific problems
include: Failure to obtain qualified export counseling in developing a plan to guide export expansion
Insufficient commitment to exporting by top management to overcome the initial difficulties and

The Fall Of The House Of Usher Effect
Edgar Allan Poe once said that the artistry of narratives is in the ability to achieve a unity of effect
(Clement, lecture notes). In his narrative The Fall of the House of Usher, a man gets a letter from an
old friend who wants him to go to his family estate because he is sick. When he arrives, he notices that
his friend and his sister are not the only ones affected by illness. It is obvious that the house is too. The
illness leads to the death of the Ushers and also the destruction of the house. In The Fall of the House
of Usher, Poe makes death and decay, as well as overall illness, his unity of effect. He creates this
effect by using the different features of narratives. He establishes this effect through his narrator, the
setting of the story, and the events that affect the characters. In this short narrative, there are many
textual examples that enforce the effect of death, decay, and illness. In the succeeding paragraphs, I
will be analyzing the style, setting, narrator, characters, and conflict of this ... Show more content on

In the early time periods where oral narratives were the only form of story, narratives existed to teach
a lesson or to illustrate a moral. In the medieval period, narratives were for entertainment. It wasn t
until the nineteenth century that tales became about truth. Narratives like The Fall of the House of
Usher aren t about teaching or entertaining. These narratives are about the message or experience that
is being created through writing. They are about presenting readers with an effect that is made to be
felt and thought about. In The Fall of the House of Usher readers are left with the feeling of death,
decay, and illness because of Poe s use of language, story world, narrator, characters, and conflict.
Edgar Allan Poe did an effective job of using his writing to portray the effect he wanted to deliver to

Why The Military Draft Should Be Reinstated
Why The Military Draft Should Be Reinstated
I think we ought to have a draft. I think if a nation goes to war, it shouldn t be represented by a
professional force because it gets to be unrepresentative of the population . . . . (Fayette, par. 2). Those
are the words of General Stanley McChrystal, the former senior commander of international forces in
Afghanistan, speaking of his stance on whether the United States should bring back the draft. The
American public has become disconnected from the military. The time has come to do something
about this; it is time to reinstate the draft. There are three reasons why the draft should be reinstated.
The costs of military personnel have soared in recent years, it would make elected officials think twice
before sending troops overseas since there will be a larger pool of draftees it would create a melting
pot of backgrounds. Although there are those who condemn the draft, they miss the point entirely.
Without question, the draft should be reinstated immediately.
President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 which established
the Selective Service System as an independent Federal agency within the Department of Defense
(Smith, par. 3). Young men were only drafted in America s greatest conflicts the Civil War, Vietnam
War, World War I, and the lead up to World War II (Bandow, par. 3). Nearly 2.2 million men were
drafted during 1961 to 1973 (South, par. 25). This practice continued during the Cold War as the U.S.
sought to protect friendly war ravaged states (Bandow, par. 3). From 1948 until 1973, young men were
drafted to fill open spots in the armed forces which could not be filled through voluntary means
(Smith, par. 4). The registration requirement was suspended in 1975 but it was resumed again in 1980,
registration continues today as a hedge against underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a
future crisis (Smith, par. 10). In 1973, the United States military went to full volunteer service that
marked the end of the draft. Since the all volunteer military has been active, there have been 144
executed operations compared to 19 operations prior to 1973 (South, par. 56). Currently, there have
been talks of reinstating

Are there benefits in using the premium versus regular unleaded gasoline?
If you were to ask a dozen different people if they believe there are benefits to premium versus regular
gasoline, you may hear varying answers. Many people will say premium is better but may not be able
to explain why. Truth is, many car owners follow the manual or just buy premium or regular based on
budgetary reasons because premium is more expensive than regular.
To make the right decision for your vehicle, let s break down the differences between premium and
regular unleaded gasoline.

Darwin s ideas being assimilated into popular culture while Lamarck s work languished in obscurity.
Darwin s theory of Evolution proposed natural selection and adaptation , that an organism could only
change as a result of mutation , a change in the genotype and that mutation had to infer an advantage
in the environment (phenotype) to be selected and therefore passed on. This process according to
Darwin occurred below the level of consciousness [Darwin, 1859]. The organism is in essence
blocked off from its experience, leading to Weismann s idea of a barrier [Weismann, 1885] and the
central view of the genetic paradigm, which is reductionistic .
Lamarck s theory alternatively, is of transformational development, which results from the organism s
experience of its environment [Lamarck, 1809]. Its prerequisite is that of the organism being open to
the experiences of its environment. Interaction occurs at the genetic and environmental levels. Hence
logically leading to the Epigenetic paradigm, which supports the same holistic, arrangements proposed
by Lamarck [Burkhardt, 1977].
Two traditions with developmental implications were influenced as a result of the differing viewpoints
of Darwin and Lamarck; they were Genetic Determination and Epigenesis. Genetic Determination
sees human development as reaching an endpoint ; this is in essence preformational . The environment
is only there to explore where children s natural abilities lie. Development is

Management Plan For A Company Essay
Currently, ECA has reduced the IT staff due to an overall corporate restructuring. With a reduction in
staff, Energy Corporation could use Rapid Application Development to build and deploy applications
quickly without the technical expertise needed for traditional programming and development. If
applications can be created with little effort and provide the business users and IT staff with the
capabilities to make changes with just as little effort, then Energy Corporation of America can
continue to keep a reduced size IT staff as well as reduced business user staff. The applications being
built could still provide value to the company without a long development time. Energy Corporation
of America would not need to hire new, experienced programmers that require higher salaries, instead
they could hire few employees and train them on the development application software quickly and let
them begin to use the software themselves. This in turn could also help with some of the
miscommunication between the IT department and the business user. Better collaboration between IT
and business users could be gained by adopting and utilizing a low code development platform.
Application developers can quickly build and deploy applications to allow for feedback for the
business users. With quick feedback, changes can be made and functional application can be
redeployed.

Essay on Humanitarian Intervention
The debate of humanitarian intervention and the responsibility to protect have been discussed in
international relations discourse more seriously within the last 60 years. The major historical
developments which have led to an increase in the intensity of these debates have had beneficial and
detrimental effects on Earth within the last 20 years. Several factors have contributed to this including;
globalization, the rise in international accountability, an increase humanitarian consciousness to
prevent major atrocities from occurring, the expansion of territorial to global responsibility of the
western world, and the realization of the western world that regional sovereignty no longer accounts
for national security. To develop an opinion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Articles 1, 55, and 56 are the center pieces for promoting and protecting human rights. During the cold
war humanitarian intervention went stagnant because the two superpowers who were facing off (US
Russia) were at odds about ideology and this caused world peace to be thrown into turmoil. The UN
was very new and did not have the international legal clout to stop either superpower from promoting
its system of governance through invasion or indirect military support. The Cold War caused social,
economic, and political upheaval globally which allowed for the UN to revise its interpretation of
humanitarian intervention. This allowed for a larger consensus among nations about which
circumstances required intervention. From 1945 to 1976 five major human rights documents were
adopted; The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Genocide Convention, Geneva Convention,
Laws of War, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on
Cultural Economic Civil Rights. The end of the Cold War liberated the UN which had established 20
new peace keeping missions from 1988 1993, more than it had taken in its entire 40 year history.

The Factors That Shaped the Elizabethan Religious...
The Factors That Shaped the Elizabethan Religious Settlement When Elizabeth I was proclaimed
Queen in 1558 a new era of religious tolerance began. With her religious settlement, Elizabeth had to
consider a number of different factors. Without doubt, the most important task following her accession
was to resolve the ideological divisions in the country brought about by the religious changes in the
past three monarch s reigns. However, when deciding on her own religious settlement, Elizabeth had a
number of influencing factors. She had grown up as a committed and conventionally pious Protestant
and these views obviously effected the way she ran her household and country, and consequently ...

Haigh claims that there can be little doubt of Elizabeth s personal Protestantism and historians such as
Pollard, who claimed that she was indifferent to religion have been largely disregarded. This is likely
to be attributed to the strong influence of family, and the education she received from humanists
William Grindal and Roger Ascham. It has been argued that she wished to return England to the state
in which her father left it Catholicism without the Pope. It is clear that her brother, Edward VI, also
heavily influenced her, as the final religious settlement was in fact very similar to his doctrinal
Reformation. However, her personal beliefs are more diverse, and cannot be attributed to so few
influences. Her belief in private devotion can be illustrated by the fact that she did not want to make
windows into men s hearts. It can therefore be argued that Elizabeth was not as radical as some
Protestants of the time, for example the returning exiles. Even before exile had faced them some had
become influenced by Calvinism, the most extreme of Protestant faiths. Although Elizabeth respected
these views, she did not totally conform to them, but just believed in certain aspects. For example she
did not practice transubstantiation. However, her more conservative ideas are evident in the final
settlement as the extra sentence is added which leaves the right

United States humanitarian relief efforts have recently focused much of their efforts on involving the

Child marriage, selling and buying women to settle disputes, assault and more than a dozen other acts
of violence and abuse against women are a common norm in Afghan society. About 87% of women

Women advocacy groups are concerned that restrictions would be placed on women s ability to work
and are calling on key allies to continue to support women s rights through non profit funding. The
Afghan people are largely opposed to the influence of western nations and want to see Afghans
carrying out changes themselves. It is reported that Imams use their sermons to portray a strong anti
Western sentiment. Americans burning Qur ans and videos negatively displaying the Prophet
Muhammad are used to fuel anti Western sentiment and initiate protests. With the widespread anti
Western sentiment, it will be a challenge for Western workers to train Afghan women. All too often,
women of all ages are discriminated against in health, education and the labor market resulting in
negative effects on their freedoms. While women here in the U.S. are far better off than those in other
countries, and by and large don t experience what women face in developing countries, we simply can
t turn our backs on the struggles women face elsewhere. It s a critical challenge that the entire world
must work together to address. By observing the gender disparities in Somalia and Afghanistan, the
U.S. can find specific ways to invest in gender equality and women s rights in developing nations.
Gender inequality is an international concern, because women empowerment allows for social,

Normative Ethics Reflection Paper
Ethics surrounds many emotions which are not accepted by morality as not important what is

The type of ethical philosophy that I am interested to me is Changing Modern Philosophy.

is also with mixture of good and bad. As long as we have the talent to choose what suits us and does
not, we have to choose the one fits us. After reading the unit 2 writings of different philosophers, I am
interested with Changing Modern Philosophy. In 1958 Elisabeth Anscombe, came with a modern

The Aspects Of Roman Life Regarding Music
The feelings that the Ancient Romans had towards music could be described as ambivalent. They
admired it and at the same time, they condemned it. Music, nevertheless, played a role in Roman
society that, as time passed, became less and less important to the Romans. As a result, much of the
information about music in Ancient Rome has been lost in time. However what has been discovered
about this topic is quite fascinating, in spite of what it is lacking. The subsequent paragraphs will
explain some of the aspects of Roman life regarding music. This includes the history of music in
Ancient Rome, the instruments that the Romans played, the uses of music in their society and the
impact that music in Rome has had on the music of today. The Romans were not the most innovative
of ancient cultures when it came to music, as it wasn t held to the same importance in Rome as it was
in other cultures. Regardless, the Romans did very much enjoy music and admire its use in other
cultures. And so, instead of creating a Roman version of music, they borrowed the musical
instruments and musical theory from those other cultures. One of them was Etruscans. Though the fact
that the Etruscans had an impact on music in Rome is known, the magnitude of that impact is
unknown, but instruments used in Roman life such as the tuba and the cornu are believed to have been
borrowed from the Etruscans. However, it was the Greeks that had the greatest influence on Roman
music. A multitude of instruments used

you an insight deep look into Morocco and all of the elements that make this country so great. It will
also offer a strong in depth look into the future of Morocco in the next coming years. Geography
Geographically, Morocco in itself is not all that big, as the size of it is one tenth larger than California
(French, 2010). It has borders to the north of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. You can
reach other countries such as Spain from the strait of Gibraltar which is on its far northern border. One
simply has to take a ferry boat that runs in the strait to get to from Spain into the city of Tanger in
Morocco. From this point you simple can hop aboard the national rails ONCF that connect Tanger
with other famous cities in Morocco such as Casablanca, and Marrakech. It also borders Algeria to the

Battle Royale Analysis
When Battle Royale first made its debut to the world, there were already concerns from the
government and parents about its effects on teenagers. Despite the Motion Picture Code Committee
restricting admission to anyone under sixteen, teenagers still camped out for two days to see the
opening screening (G. Sparks and C. Sparks 269). The film was controversial for its extreme violence,
but the reactions of the adults to try and control their children tellingly echoed the conflict within the
film itself, something its director had purposefully highlighted. Kinji Fukasaku used props throughout
his film to represent the challenging relationships between the older and younger generations of Japan.
Based in real life encounters and the failings of the Japanese school system, Fukasaku brought the
conflicts between the government, parents, teachers, and students to the screen in a darkly humorous
bloodbath.
Authority Figures versus Children
To better understand Fukasaku s approach to his film, it will help to examine his own childhood. As a
young teenager, Fukasaku grew up in a country plagued by the horrors of World War II:
His class was drafted into the war effort, and they found themselves working in a munitions factory.
[...] The classmates were caught in a barrage of artillery fire. [...] The survivors of the attack used the
corpses of their friends as cover and, after the violence has passed, Fukasaku and his surviving friends
were given the task of disposing of the body parts

Criticism In Voltaire s Candide
Candide is Voltaire s most known literary work and most extensively read pieces of literature in
French. His philosophical tale is a means to portray his ideas. Simultaneously, amuse his readers with
satirical wit and ironical innuendo. Candide (the name refers to frankness and purity) is the main
character in the tale. The philosophical idea embodies optimism that is opposed by Voltaire s intend.
The directing force of the journey in this novel is Candide s love for Cunégonde. He goes to irrational
lengths to chase his love which includes deserting paradise of El Dorado, numerous murders, and
barely avoiding imprisonment and death sentence, mocked by the realism that once he can get married
to Cunégonde, he is no longer fascinated to her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about The Vulnerability of Weak Passwords
Passwords
This lab was to discuss the vulnerability of weak passwords. We were thought how to crack our own
passwords using a method called john the ripper . We also found out how secure various passwords
and how long it would take for a desktop Pc to crack these passwords. We looked up various methods
and applications to crack passwords.

Theme Of Gender In Wuthering Heights
Emily Brontë s Wuthering Height s expresses criticisms of social conventions, particularly those
surrounding issues of gender: notice that the author distributes feminine and masculine characteristics
without regard to sex. Brontë had difficulties living in society while remaining true to the things she
considered important: the ideal of women as delicate beings who avoid physical or mental activity and
pursue fashions and flirtations was repugnant to her. Class issues are also important: one is bound to
respect Ellen, who is educated but of low class, more than most women in the Victorian Era.
Similary, D.H. Lawrence was a prolific poet, essayist, novelist, and painter who is famous forhis
conventional syntax and grammar in writing and for challenging the traditions of English fiction by
his strong portrayal of sexuality (Al Mahasees 7). He portrays women in the similar image as Bronte s
novel, he reflects upon iniquities to which women had been exposed. Additionally, the depiction of
modern society in the light of the present patriarchal society will be discussed to refer to the
difficulties and pitfalls to which the society of women may be exposed (Al Mahasees 8).
In Wuthering Heights, female characters are disempowered in femininity yet are strengthened by their
adoption of masculine behaviour. Each female character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Differences Of Memory And The Past
Memory and the Past Do you know that Rebecca was the best seller novel sold between 1938 and
1965? The novel was written by Daphne du Maurier in 1938. The story is a mixture of love and hate
for the primary characters in Rebecca novel. It begins when a young, poor woman who works with
Ms. Van Hopper meets Maxim de Winter. Then the young women, narrator, feels in love with Maxim
de Winter and decide to get married to go with him to Manderley. After that she meets Mrs. Danvers
and the narrator feels uncomfortable because she seems like a devil woman. The narrator feels deeply
frustrate and upset because she thinks Maxim loves Rebecca crazily. Then she founds the secret that
Maxim does not love Rebecca, so she becomes better and gets confidence again. Furthermore Maxim
meets Dr. Baker and he tells him that Rebecca is not pregnant, but she has had a cancer. In the end,
Maxim returns back to Manderley and sees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first point of difference is Maxim De Winter never considering suicide. In the novel, the action of
suicide does not happen and is transformed to the narrator first time meet Maxim at the hotel
restaurant. On the other hand, in the film Maxim is standing at the edge of a cliff want to jump off.
Then the narrator prevents and stops him. The second point of difference is Rebecca s death is much
more graphic in the novel. In the novel Maxim killed her by shots with a pistol and her blood is
everywhere. However, in the film he strikes her and she falls down into a sharp thing in the cottage.
My final point of difference is Mrs. Danvers fate is left ambiguous. In the novel Mrs. Danvers takes
her possessions and left Manderley since nobody had seen her when she leaves. Maxim expects that
she played a role in burning Manderley. But in the film shows that Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca s
bedroom, looking out of the window as the house burns around her. These are my three differences

What Role Does Lucia Play In Mad Forest
The UNCW theatre department s production of Mad Forest had many great actors and actresses
involved. Lucia, played by Taylor England, and Toma, played by Tony Choufani, were the two
characters and actors that stood out to me the most. I believe both of the actors did amazing jobs with
their character, and both must have been very difficult roles to pull off.
Taylor England playing the role of Lucia was very intriguing to watch. Her facial expressions alone
made her a great actress for the role of Lucia in my opinion. Even when she was not the main focus of
a scene, she continued to stay in character and the seriousness that came with a majority of the play.

Essay On Forest City Basin
Abstract The Forest city basin is located in northwestern Missouri, northeastern Kansas, southwestern
Iowa, and southeastern Nebraska. The Forest City basin is represented mainly by shales deposited as
the sea withdrew (regressed) westward, although there are small isolated areas in northern Missouri in
which a marine limestone formed. A few locations in west central Missouri have sandstone channels
attaining a thickness of as much as 30 ft. within the Mine Creek Shale (Manos). Introduction The
Forest City basin is a bowl like feature in the subsurface rock layers in northwest Missouri and
adjacent portions of Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. Some areas bare oil and gas. The Forest City basin is

The Role Of Birt Hogg Dube ( Bhd ) Syndrome
The Role of Folliculin in Amino Acid Sensing
Specific Aims
Birt Hogg Dubé (BHD) syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition that s characterized by the
development of benign skin tumors and lung cysts. Moreover, these manifestations increase patients
risk to develop renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and/or pneumothorax. Germline mutations in the
Folliculin (FLCN) gene are responsible for the onset of BHD, resulting in its loss of function.
Furthermore, BHD clinical hallmarks are similar to the clinical manifestation caused by mutations in
tumor suppressor, TSC1/2, such as: facial hamartomas and RCC. Although FLCN is predicted to be a
tumor suppressor, the exact function of FLCN still remains unknown.
FLCN expression is conserved throughout the eukaryotic system and is known to have binding
partners, folliculin interacting proteins (FNIP) 1 and 2. FNIP1/2 interacts with AMP activated protein
kinase (AMPK), a direct energy sensor and negative regulator of mTOR, suggesting FLCN s role in
AMPK and TOR signaling. Moreover, mammalian cells with reduced expression of FLCN resulted in
concomitant reduction of TORC1 activity, strengthening FLCN s probable role in TOR signaling.
Target of rapamycin (TOR) is a major signaling complex that coordinates intracellular inputs with
cellular growth. TOR is composed of two complexes, namely TORC1 is the master regulator
coordinating amino acid availability to anabolic processes required for cell growth and maintenance.

Children Immigrants Essay example
Children Immigrants
Immigrant children did not live an easy life in the nineteenth century. Most children were never
educated. Italian children immigrants were rarely put through schooling. However, Eastern European
Jewish immigrants looked at public schooling as their best way to help their children enhance their
potential in life. Chicago, Detroit, and New York City had large populations of Jewish and Italian
immigrants. The conditions of the children in all three cities were similar yet different with cities in
which they lived in. Jewish and Italian immigrant children had to overcome many obstacles during
their adjustment to American life in the nineteenth century. Italian immigrants children were cast into

Immigrants from the north were encouraging frequent contact and social recreation with boys.
Jewish immigrants prioritized education because they saw it as the best way to help their children
enhance their potential in life. In the city of Chicago Jewish children started off in school. They had
eight public schools in Chicago all for young Jewish people. ?Socialization of the immigrant children
was the job of a handful of schools in the ghetto, where Jewish attendance reached 92 93%?
(Educating the Jewish Young People). In most public schools the total population was 68 percent
Jewish. Many Jewish children attended the Jewish Training School, a vocational school that
emphasized arts and mechanical trades. However, one must remember that this did not mean that
every one of these Jewish children attended all eight grades that were provided for them from public
schools. ?What tends to aggravate these conditions, and further to interfere with the educational career
of the Jewish child is, on the one hand, the apparently natural truancy of some boys, and on the other,
the necessity?always pressing on the workingmen?s children?of leaving school and going to work?
(Educating the Jewish Young People). Most of the Jewish children that did attend school did not
complete eight grades and many of them did not complete six grades. These children leaving school
were as young as age twelve to fourteen to go and work.
Jewish children living conditions were much cleaner and

The Importance Of Stereotypes In Literature
Stereotypes run rampant in the literary world today. It is much easier to write a stereotypical character
because of the reader expects them to act or respond a certain way and does not require an explanation
of their motivation. But much like Chimamanda Adichie warns, Show a people as only one thing over
and over again, and that is what they become (Adichie 00:09:25 00:09:37). But this issue is often
addressed in reference to the protagonist. The hero is always white; the hero is always attractive. The
hero never disserves to suffer. Single stories do not just refer to the physical characteristics of the
character, though in can and often does. The heroes all tend to look the same so we associate goodness
with that specific physical description, but motivations can be just as misleading. All the heroes do
good things because they lived the same experiences, so these experiences make someone good. Also
society remains so focused on the single story surrounding the protagonist, it often forgets the other
main component of a story, the antagonist. But by dissecting the possible motivations for the villains,
as my adaption does, I hope to explore the different avenues to villainy and in turn disrupt their single
story. Both nature and nurture can cause a person to do and say the things they do in later life
regardless of whether these things are good or bad. In my adaptation, both Bluebeard and the evil
queen have a corrupted source of nurture. Bluebeard s dad murders a

State your results: the mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation Based on the
given sample of student test scores of 50, 60, 74, 83, 83, 90, 90, 92, and 95 after rearranging them

The best method to solve for the mean, medium, mode, range, variance, and standards deviation, in
this case is by hand and not on SSPS. For a novice, they would spend more time figuring how to set
the parameters and spend roughly the same amount of time on the analyzation that they would when
using the software. Although, a moderate user of the SSPS software would solve this problem rather
quickly. Though, it is recommended to use SSPS when analyzing a large sample size.
Conduct a one sample t test and interpret the results (use a population mean of 70). One sample t test

Therefore, if you do or do not decide to use ultrasound in your practice, there should also be exercise
and movement based treatments in the plan. Through researching this topic, I have made some great
conclusions. I believe it is paramount that additional research is conducted regarding the effectiveness
of ultrasound as treatment. If I had to choose between using or not using ultrasound in my practice, I
would not use it. I believe our profession is capable of problem solving and developing new
techniques that will be even more effective and most importantly, evidenced based. I want to be
known for my integrity and trustworthiness with my patients. I feel as though the 5 10 minutes it takes
to treat with ultrasound could be used in a more effective way. Now, if a patient were to specifically
ask for ultrasound as a treatment, I would explain what the research states. If they still wanted to,
maybe because of previous experience, I would continue with the ultrasound treatment. In the vast
majority of cases, ultrasound is completely safe. If the patient shows improvement from ultrasound,
placebo or not, it benefits the patient. The patient is the most important aspect of this argument, we

Discrimination Against Teenage Girls In School Dress Codes
Discrimination Against Teenage Girls in School Dress Codes
Dress codes in middle and high schools are a form of discrimination against teenage girls in today s
society. Parents and students all over the country argue that dress codes are directed mainly at girls
and are a blatant example of gender inequality. The idea behind the strict enforcement of a dress code
is that it will teach self respect and raise moral standards for the students. However, when the reason
for many dress code violations is questioned the rationale is often to prevent distracting the male
students. Young women across the country are being shamed and punished for wearing what schools
consider immodest and being a distraction to their male peers. This discrimination against female
students results in their clothes being strictly regulated and dress coded more often than male students
clothes are. The enforcement of these discriminatory dress codes has become a form of public
humiliation for female students. Theoretically, a dress code makes sense and should be effective. In
reality, it does not affect how students dress but causes a distraction and interruption of a girl s
education.
Today s fashion trends, such as leggings, yoga pants, shorter skirts, booty shorts, form fitting shirts,
and spaghetti straps, have sparked controversy in schools. They have been banned from a great many.

Analysis Of The Book 12 Years A Slave
Although the book 12 Years a Slave is non fiction, it is difficult to grasp and imagine some of these
written truths as reality. Both the book and movie share essential similarities amongst the background
and main ideas. Some core events that remain comparable include Solomon Northup having a family,
him getting kidnapped into slavery, and eventually his return to his family. These events are crucial to
remaining similar because the movie is based off of the book as a true story. If the central ideas and
events contrasted greatly from the book, the movie would pivotally change the fundamental matter
and effects of the book. Despite the major similarities amongst main events, there are some
considerable differences. These differences might reflect on what type of audience each attracts, order
of events in which each are organized, and entire changes of certain events for dramatization or
different impacts. Due to differences and similarities between the book and movie, new insights are
brought about and similar understandings are solidified. Granted that both book and movie share core
events and ideas about the life of Solomon Northrup, both partly attract similar audiences.
Correspondingly, both the book and movie appeals to an audience that wants to sympathize and
understand the life of Solomon Northup as a Slave. Although both partly attract similar audiences,
some changes in the movie might also attract others as well. One of the influential differences that the

It has 16 subtests and was created with the idea that each individual s intelligence is different from
another s (Pearson, 2009). The Stanford Achievement Test is commonly known as the SAT among
high school students. This measurement also best fits Wechsler s definition of intelligence as it
measures learning and knowledge of individuals while keeping in mind individual differences of
knowledge and intelligence. This achievement test has 13 levels, such as math, reading,
comprehension, spelling, science, and language, and covers kindergarten through the twelfth grade
(Harcourt Assessment, Inc., 2003).
Reliability, Validity, Normative Procedures, and Bias
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale was tested for reliability by
using internal consistency, test retest stability, and interscorer agreement. All three reliability tests
show strong evidence for score reliability (Wechsler, 2008, para. 6).

The OSI model is basically a framework of how the device operate on the network. Assume that user A sends data to user B through internet, the data has to travel the network to reach user B computer. During the data transfer, the data has to navigate through many intermediate nodes. To ensure the data transfer from user A to user B correctly and securely, so we need protocols to guide these data. These group of protocols are called communication model. OSI model is one of the communication model. Open System Interconnection (OSI) is made up of 7 layers, each layer has their own unique functions and protocols. Ever since I was seven, I ve strived to be an astronaut and explore the expansions of space. After World War III, the United States rebooted their space program, with the funding and resources at an all time high. On the eve of my ninth birthday, I, along with the rest of the world, received the news that One of Jupiter s moons was reached and prepared for colonization, marking the second space body fit to be home to humans after Mars. The Sun, the source of visible light and catalyst of my light powers, symbolizes a vital source of life and the values intertwined. Not all participated in the welcome home party for me, deemed the miracle astronaut . Critics across the globe have stalked and hovered over the me, analyzing and critiquing every move of my career. Externally, I have many enemies that include the critics and the underlying, immoral villains of the world. Fighting against unlawful and unjust people, I battle criminals of all degrees and the evilness inside some of humanity. Internally, the eight fellow astronauts that were killed on the mission lurk in the shadows of my mind, presenting a challenge and conflict. Despite this, the majority of the globe adores the optimism and truth of myself and my powers, exemplified through my quotes, The goodness in the world can only overcome evil through the power of all. • 4. Analysis Of The Film Dead Man Walking Introduction The theoretical perspective I found most convincing when analyzing the behavior of the main character, Mathew Poncelot, in the film, Dead Man Walking, are the ideologies of sociologist Max Weber. He believed that rather than only focusing on one s social actions, it is instead important to understand why people do the things that they do (Long Crowell). Empathizing with individuals and identifying their perspectives explains one s rationales behind each choice and behavior (Long Crowell). By gaining an understanding of an individual s point of view, we can make sense of their reality and how their perceptions affect their role in our world (DuBose, 2015). Weber s theory supports that Poncelot s behaviors can be explained by evaluating the rationale behind the factors that influenced and affected the choices he made. His childhood experiences, family values, education level, social class, and economic status were crucial factors when explaining why he became the person he was. Furthermore, the combination of Poncelot s thoughts and actions were based on the experiences and social interactions he encountered. Throughout this analysis, I will reflect on the various theoretical perspectives discussed this semester and what I have learned from each of these concepts. I will address why I found Weber s theory most convincing and apply connections between theories as they relate to understanding social problems and the values of daily social work practices. ... Characteristics of Exporters Research conducted on the characteristics of exporters has resulted in two basic conclusions: (i) the probability of exporting increases with size of company revenues and (ii) export intensity (the percentage of total revenues generated by exports) is not positively correlated with company size. Factors such as the risk profile of management and the nature of industry competition are just as important as firm size. C. Stages of Export Development Firms tend to move through three phases of export development: pre engagement, initial exporting, and advanced exporting. As they do so, they tend to (i) export to more countries and (ii) expect exports to grow as a percentage of total sales. In addition, they also tend to (iii) diversify their markets to more distant countries and (iv) move into environments that are increasingly different from those of their home countries. (Figure 13.2). D. Pitfalls of Exporting The operational mistakes associated with exporting can be very costly. Most new exporters stumble once or twice before experiencing consistent success. Export specific problems include: Failure to obtain qualified export counseling in developing a plan to guide export expansion Insufficient commitment to exporting by top management to overcome the initial difficulties and ... • 6. The Fall Of The House Of Usher Effect Edgar Allan Poe once said that the artistry of narratives is in the ability to achieve a unity of effect (Clement, lecture notes). In his narrative The Fall of the House of Usher, a man gets a letter from an old friend who wants him to go to his family estate because he is sick. When he arrives, he notices that his friend and his sister are not the only ones affected by illness. It is obvious that the house is too. The illness leads to the death of the Ushers and also the destruction of the house. In The Fall of the House of Usher, Poe makes death and decay, as well as overall illness, his unity of effect. He creates this effect by using the different features of narratives. He establishes this effect through his narrator, the setting of the story, and the events that affect the characters. In this short narrative, there are many textual examples that enforce the effect of death, decay, and illness. In the succeeding paragraphs, I will be analyzing the style, setting, narrator, characters, and conflict of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early time periods where oral narratives were the only form of story, narratives existed to teach a lesson or to illustrate a moral. In the medieval period, narratives were for entertainment. It wasn t until the nineteenth century that tales became about truth. Narratives like The Fall of the House of Usher aren t about teaching or entertaining. These narratives are about the message or experience that is being created through writing. They are about presenting readers with an effect that is made to be felt and thought about. In The Fall of the House of Usher readers are left with the feeling of death, decay, and illness because of Poe s use of language, story world, narrator, characters, and conflict. • 7. Why The Military Draft Should Be Reinstated Why The Military Draft Should Be Reinstated I think we ought to have a draft. I think if a nation goes to war, it shouldn t be represented by a professional force because it gets to be unrepresentative of the population . . . . (Fayette, par. 2). Those are the words of General Stanley McChrystal, the former senior commander of international forces in Afghanistan, speaking of his stance on whether the United States should bring back the draft. The American public has become disconnected from the military. The time has come to do something about this; it is time to reinstate the draft. There are three reasons why the draft should be reinstated. The costs of military personnel have soared in recent years, it would make elected officials think twice before sending troops overseas since there will be a larger pool of draftees it would create a melting pot of backgrounds. Although there are those who condemn the draft, they miss the point entirely. Without question, the draft should be reinstated immediately. President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 which established the Selective Service System as an independent Federal agency within the Department of Defense (Smith, par. 3). Young men were only drafted in America s greatest conflicts the Civil War, Vietnam War, World War I, and the lead up to World War II (Bandow, par. 3). Nearly 2.2 million men were drafted during 1961 to 1973 (South, par. 25). This practice continued during the Cold War as the U.S. sought to protect friendly war ravaged states (Bandow, par. 3). From 1948 until 1973, young men were drafted to fill open spots in the armed forces which could not be filled through voluntary means (Smith, par. 4). The registration requirement was suspended in 1975 but it was resumed again in 1980, registration continues today as a hedge against underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis (Smith, par. 10). In 1973, the United States military went to full volunteer service that marked the end of the draft. Since the all volunteer military has been active, there have been 144 executed operations compared to 19 operations prior to 1973 (South, par. 56). Currently, there have been talks of reinstating ... Darwin s theory of Evolution proposed natural selection and adaptation , that an organism could only change as a result of mutation , a change in the genotype and that mutation had to infer an advantage in the environment (phenotype) to be selected and therefore passed on. This process according to Darwin occurred below the level of consciousness [Darwin, 1859]. The organism is in essence blocked off from its experience, leading to Weismann s idea of a barrier [Weismann, 1885] and the central view of the genetic paradigm, which is reductionistic . Lamarck s theory alternatively, is of transformational development, which results from the organism s experience of its environment [Lamarck, 1809]. Its prerequisite is that of the organism being open to the experiences of its environment. Interaction occurs at the genetic and environmental levels. Hence logically leading to the Epigenetic paradigm, which supports the same holistic, arrangements proposed by Lamarck [Burkhardt, 1977]. Two traditions with developmental implications were influenced as a result of the differing viewpoints of Darwin and Lamarck; they were Genetic Determination and Epigenesis. With a reduction in staff, Energy Corporation could use Rapid Application Development to build and deploy applications quickly without the technical expertise needed for traditional programming and development. If applications can be created with little effort and provide the business users and IT staff with the capabilities to make changes with just as little effort, then Energy Corporation of America can continue to keep a reduced size IT staff as well as reduced business user staff. The applications being built could still provide value to the company without a long development time. Energy Corporation of America would not need to hire new, experienced programmers that require higher salaries, instead they could hire few employees and train them on the development application software quickly and let them begin to use the software themselves. This in turn could also help with some of the miscommunication between the IT department and the business user. Better collaboration between IT and business users could be gained by adopting and utilizing a low code development platform. The Cold War caused social, economic, and political upheaval globally which allowed for the UN to revise its interpretation of humanitarian intervention. The Factors That Shaped the Elizabethan Religious Settlement When Elizabeth I was proclaimed Queen in 1558 a new era of religious tolerance began. With her religious settlement, Elizabeth had to consider a number of different factors. Without doubt, the most important task following her accession was to resolve the ideological divisions in the country brought about by the religious changes in the past three monarch s reigns. However, when deciding on her own religious settlement, Elizabeth had a number of influencing factors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haigh claims that there can be little doubt of Elizabeth s personal Protestantism and historians such as Pollard, who claimed that she was indifferent to religion have been largely disregarded. This is likely to be attributed to the strong influence of family, and the education she received from humanists William Grindal and Roger Ascham. It has been argued that she wished to return England to the state in which her father left it Catholicism without the Pope. It is clear that her brother, Edward VI, also heavily influenced her, as the final religious settlement was in fact very similar to his doctrinal Reformation. However, her personal beliefs are more diverse, and cannot be attributed to so few influences. Her belief in private devotion can be illustrated by the fact that she did not want to make windows into men s hearts. It can therefore be argued that Elizabeth was not as radical as some Protestants of the time, for example the returning exiles. Even before exile had faced them some had become influenced by Calvinism, the most extreme of Protestant faiths. Although Elizabeth respected these views, she did not totally conform to them, but just believed in certain aspects. For example she did not practice transubstantiation. Music, nevertheless, played a role in Roman society that, as time passed, became less and less important to the Romans. As a result, much of the information about music in Ancient Rome has been lost in time. However what has been discovered about this topic is quite fascinating, in spite of what it is lacking. The subsequent paragraphs will explain some of the aspects of Roman life regarding music. This includes the history of music in Ancient Rome, the instruments that the Romans played, the uses of music in their society and the impact that music in Rome has had on the music of today. The Romans were not the most innovative of ancient cultures when it came to music, as it wasn t held to the same importance in Rome as it was in other cultures. Regardless, the Romans did very much enjoy music and admire its use in other cultures. And so, instead of creating a Roman version of music, they borrowed the musical instruments and musical theory from those other cultures. One of them was Etruscans. Though the fact that the Etruscans had an impact on music in Rome is known, the magnitude of that impact is unknown, but instruments used in Roman life such as the tuba and the cornu are believed to have been borrowed from the Etruscans. Despite the Motion Picture Code Committee restricting admission to anyone under sixteen, teenagers still camped out for two days to see the opening screening (G. Sparks and C. Sparks 269). The film was controversial for its extreme violence, but the reactions of the adults to try and control their children tellingly echoed the conflict within the film itself, something its director had purposefully highlighted. • 30. The Role Of Birt Hogg Dube ( Bhd ) Syndrome The Role of Folliculin in Amino Acid Sensing Specific Aims Birt Hogg Dubé (BHD) syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition that s characterized by the development of benign skin tumors and lung cysts. Moreover, these manifestations increase patients risk to develop renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and/or pneumothorax. Germline mutations in the Folliculin (FLCN) gene are responsible for the onset of BHD, resulting in its loss of function. Furthermore, BHD clinical hallmarks are similar to the clinical manifestation caused by mutations in tumor suppressor, TSC1/2, such as: facial hamartomas and RCC. Although FLCN is predicted to be a tumor suppressor, the exact function of FLCN still remains unknown. FLCN expression is conserved throughout the eukaryotic system and is known to have binding partners, folliculin interacting proteins (FNIP) 1 and 2. FNIP1/2 interacts with AMP activated protein kinase (AMPK), a direct energy sensor and negative regulator of mTOR, suggesting FLCN s role in AMPK and TOR signaling. Moreover, mammalian cells with reduced expression of FLCN resulted in concomitant reduction of TORC1 activity, strengthening FLCN s probable role in TOR signaling. Target of rapamycin (TOR) is a major signaling complex that coordinates intracellular inputs with cellular growth. TOR is composed of two complexes, namely TORC1 is the master regulator coordinating amino acid availability to anabolic processes required for cell growth and maintenance. High amino acid levels ... Many Jewish children attended the Jewish Training School, a vocational school that emphasized arts and mechanical trades. However, one must remember that this did not mean that every one of these Jewish children attended all eight grades that were provided for them from public schools. ?What tends to aggravate these conditions, and further to interfere with the educational career of the Jewish child is, on the one hand, the apparently natural truancy of some boys, and on the other, the necessity?always pressing on the workingmen?s children?of leaving school and going to work? • 34. The Importance Of Stereotypes In Literature Stereotypes run rampant in the literary world today. It is much easier to write a stereotypical character because of the reader expects them to act or respond a certain way and does not require an explanation of their motivation. But much like Chimamanda Adichie warns, Show a people as only one thing over and over again, and that is what they become (Adichie 00:09:25 00:09:37). But this issue is often addressed in reference to the protagonist. The hero is always white; the hero is always attractive. The hero never disserves to suffer. Single stories do not just refer to the physical characteristics of the character, though in can and often does. The heroes all tend to look the same so we associate goodness with that specific physical description, but motivations can be just as misleading. All the heroes do good things because they lived the same experiences, so these experiences make someone good. Also society remains so focused on the single story surrounding the protagonist, it often forgets the other main component of a story, the antagonist. But by dissecting the possible motivations for the villains, as my adaption does, I hope to explore the different avenues to villainy and in turn disrupt their single story. Both nature and nurture can cause a person to do and say the things they do in later life regardless of whether these things are good or bad. In my adaptation, both Bluebeard and the evil queen have a corrupted source of nurture. Bluebeard s dad murders a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the mean is based on the average of sum, the average of this sample is 79.67 or 80. The mode refers to numbers that appear the most in a sequence and in this case 83 and 90 both appear twice. Range calculates the difference between the largest and smallest number, which are 95 and 50 which have a difference of 45. The variance is the difference between the sum of squares divided by the sample size, which is the number in the sample minus one (Hansen Myers, 2012), meaning it takes each number of the set and subtracts ... If I had to choose between using or not using ultrasound in my practice, I would not use it. I believe our profession is capable of problem solving and developing new techniques that will be even more effective and most importantly, evidenced based. I want to be known for my integrity and trustworthiness with my patients. I feel as though the 5 10 minutes it takes to treat with ultrasound could be used in a more effective way. Now, if a patient were to specifically ask for ultrasound as a treatment, I would explain what the research states. If they still wanted to, maybe because of previous experience, I would continue with the ultrasound treatment. In the vast majority of cases, ultrasound is completely safe. • 38. Discrimination Against Teenage Girls In School Dress Codes Discrimination Against Teenage Girls in School Dress Codes Dress codes in middle and high schools are a form of discrimination against teenage girls in today s society. Parents and students all over the country argue that dress codes are directed mainly at girls and are a blatant example of gender inequality. The idea behind the strict enforcement of a dress code is that it will teach self respect and raise moral standards for the students. However, when the reason for many dress code violations is questioned the rationale is often to prevent distracting the male students. Young women across the country are being shamed and punished for wearing what schools consider immodest and being a distraction to their male peers. This discrimination against female students results in their clothes being strictly regulated and dress coded more often than male students clothes are. The enforcement of these discriminatory dress codes has become a form of public humiliation for female students. Theoretically, a dress code makes sense and should be effective. In reality, it does not affect how students dress but causes a distraction and interruption of a girl s education. Today s fashion trends, such as leggings, yoga pants, shorter skirts, booty shorts, form fitting shirts, and spaghetti straps, have sparked controversy in schools. • 40. Analysis Of The Book 12 Years A Slave Although the book 12 Years a Slave is non fiction, it is difficult to grasp and imagine some of these written truths as reality. Both the book and movie share essential similarities amongst the background and main ideas. Some core events that remain comparable include Solomon Northup having a family, him getting kidnapped into slavery, and eventually his return to his family. These events are crucial to remaining similar because the movie is based off of the book as a true story. If the central ideas and events contrasted greatly from the book, the movie would pivotally change the fundamental matter and effects of the book. Despite the major similarities amongst main events, there are some considerable differences. These differences might reflect on what type of audience each attracts, order of events in which each are organized, and entire changes of certain events for dramatization or different impacts. Due to differences and similarities between the book and movie, new insights are brought about and similar understandings are solidified. Granted that both book and movie share core events and ideas about the life of Solomon Northrup, both partly attract similar audiences. Correspondingly, both the book and movie appeals to an audience that wants to sympathize and understand the life of Solomon Northup as a Slave. Although both partly attract similar audiences, some changes in the movie might also attract others as well. One of the influential differences that the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
