America And The Great War
America and the Great War At the turn of 19 20 centuries, capitalism has evolved into imperialism.
The world was almost completely divided between the major powers. Unbalance of economic and
socio political development of the countries increased. States, after others entered the path of capitalist
development (United States, Germany, Japan), quickly moved forward and pushed aside from global
markets old capitalist countries Great Britain and France, aggressively seeking redistribution of
colonies. The most acute contradictions have arisen between Germany and Great Britain, whose
interests were encountered in many areas of the globe, but especially in Africa, Asia and the Middle
East, where German imperialism mainly directed its trade and colonial expansion. Deep were
contradictions between Germany and France. Their sources were, on the one hand, the desire of
Germany to perpetuate Alsace and Lorraine, taken from France as a result of the Franco Prussian War
(1870 1871), and on the other, the determination of the French to return these areas (Audoin Rouzeau
Becker, 2002). French and German interests clashed in colonial question: France attempts to seize
Morocco met with strong opposition from Germany also applying for this territory. Since the late 19th
century Russian German conflict grew. The expansion of German imperialism in the Middle East, its
attempts to establish control over Turkey affected the economic, political and military strategic
interests of Russia.

Underdeveloped Medical Practices
The medical practices used today are called barbaric and underdeveloped, causing people in this state
to think that the doctors we have use no sense of logic when treating patients. But, there are a great
deal of people who beg to differ. Also, there are people who agree with the other critics and furious
families who blame the doctors for losing their loved ones. Medical practices, and medicine in
general, have helped the soldiers out on the battlefield in many ways, ranging from the lives that the
people save for quick and efficient surgeries, like amputation, to the sanitation of hospitals and
recovery stations, and the dietary regimes that help the soldiers, and even innocent bystanders, get
back to their former shape, even with a lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, in hospitals, of course. These hospitals, makeshift and actual hospitals, are very resourceful in a
way that our men fighting in the War don t have to lay around on threadbare blankets and have very
low food supply while they re healing. Makeshift hospitals right now are made out of old churches,
with volunteers to help the wounded, both men and women. They are installed with beds, and
washrooms where the wounded can clean up independently or with help from the nurses or their
assigned doctors. They have even installed a dietary regime to help the men heal faster! But, there are
still some questionable methods as to what the hospitals do. Our readers ask, What about the mobile
hospitals? and others, What about the training? . Sadly, the nurses in these hospitals aren t really
trained, especially the women. But, who says a woman needs to be trained to help men in need?
Wouldn t anyone help them in any way they can? Also, the mobile hospitals are used for transporting
wounded soldiers to the nearest hospital, while doing what they can to keep the patients stable ( Civil
War (Gale)). They may not be the requested mode of transportation, but they still help our men in the
best way they can. If the people of West Virginia donated resources and money, the female nurses and
male nurses could get training and the mode of transportation will be updated, and work

Pros And Cons Of Being A Outsiders
Retired Brigadier General Don Bacon, candidate for the United States Congress, announced today that
he has received the endorsement of State Senator Beau McCoy of Omaha in his bid to represent
Nebraska in the Second District. Don has spent almost thirty years defending our fellow Americans
and our Constitution at home and abroad, said Senator McCoy. He has proven countless times that he
has the courage to take on the biggest of challenges. Out of control spending, excessive regulations,
and an administration that is blind to the dangers of the world appears to be the new norm in
Washington. Now more than ever, we need conservative outsiders with proven leadership experience
to tackle these problems in Congress. Don is the person who

Greed In John Steinbeck s The Pearl
Throughout his life, Kino has been searching for pearls to make him rich without success until one
fateful day when the poor pearl diver finds a perfect pearl in John Steinbeck s The Pearl. However, the
pearl he has found glows with a kind of evil that will tear the village apart from its greed. This story
shows that greed can make any man evil, and can tear people apart from the ones they love.
In the beginning of the story, Coyotito, the baby, gets stung by a scorpion. When taken to the doctor,
the doctor refuses to heal him, saying, Have I nothing better to do than cure insect bites for little
indians ? I am a doctor, not a veterinary. (11). Later in the book however, when Kino finds the pearl,
the doctor was very quick to help the baby, showing immediate interest when saying, You have a
pearl?, a good pearl? (35). Kino goes on to say that he will pay the doctor for healing the baby once
the pearl is sold. This shows that the doctor is overcome by greed, and, once reluctant to heal
Coyotito, is now very willing to heal him because of the promise of money from the pearl. ... Show

Juano suggests that they should throw the pearl back into the water because of the terrible things that
it has done to their family. By this point, Kino has also been engulfed by greed, and disagrees with her,
wanting to keep the pearl so his family can be rich and so he can afford a good education for his son.
In the night while Kino is sleeping, Juana takes the pearl outside to throw back into the ocean. Kino
wakes up and when he finds out, he is flooded with anger. In the book, it is described that, He leaped
at her and caught her arm and wrenched the pearl from her. He struck her in the face with his clenched
fist and she fell among the boulders, and he kicked her in her side (59). This shows that greed for the
pearl made him hurt his own

“Everyday Use” by Alice Walker Essay
In its simplest form, a child is a product of a man and a woman but Alice Walker one of the foremost
authors during the twentieth century, adds depth to her black American women by focusing on the role
that race and gender played in their development. Family reunions can be times of great anticipation,
excitement and happiness but for Dee, a young, beautiful, African American and our leading character,
it was a reunion with underlying, unspoken tensions. Dee was Dee but Dee had changed; a new
husband, nice clothes, and a college degree to boat. Maybe that college degree certificate could be
farmed and hung on the wall replacing that old photo of George Washington Carver, out with the old
and in with the new. Alice Walker is showing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is not willing to commit to the hard work of the cause and faith he claims to embrace
(SparkNotes). Walker s story is an evaluation of individuals who get the wrong idea about some of the
ideals that black consciousness groups promoted during 1950s. A bit of realism is given in the story by
some particular languages, specialized diction, and Mama s exclusive expressions. Walker gives
Mama the right to narrate and control to convey the story and thoughts in their own way. For example,
some particular language used by Dee s mother like butter churning and cheese making adds realism
to the story. This makes the audience think that they are a poor farm family. The mother makes the
languages her own (SparkNotes). For instance, she refers to her husband carving benches when the
family could not effort instead of afford to buy chairs, and she describes the milk in the churn as
crabber . Walker raises comedy as a way of improving the story s observations, such as in the weak
comedy irritated by Mama s reaction to Dee s, and Hakim s difficult to pronounce names. Mama
eventually gives up on Hakim a barber s name and secretly addresses him as what she thinks he
sounds like: a barber. The history of these quilts is a history of the family. The quilts was most
valuable to Mama and Maggie, they do not want to see the quilts as stuff to be hung on the wall and
respected as folk art, but as the useful household items. Walker is

Examples Of First Impression In Beowulf
It takes one tenth of a second to make a first impression. There is evolutionary basis behind this split
second decision, because it was once important to know in an instant whether or not someone is a
friend or foe. Unfortunately, research has shown that a first impression is relatively stable and unlikely
to change even with prolonged exposure to the person. Many aspects of an individual s appearance
can weigh into a first impression and perception of a person, but the first impression weighs heavily
on how we treat a person down the line, and develop both platonic and romantic relationships.
The development of creating believable draws on the description of characters deals with the idea of

But, after reading up on developmental psychology and the psychology of relationships it seems that
women have used their looks and sexuality in order to gain power and status. Queen Elizabeth I wrote,
The weight and greatness of this matter might cause in me, being a woman wanting both wit and
memory , Elizabeth was known to utilize her sexuality in order to gain political favor by toying with
other powerful figures. This was not something that she was forced into however she was using her
wit and body in a way to manipulate those around her. This use of sexuality as power over men was
seen in The Twelfth Night, he is yours, and his must needs be yours. Your servant s servant is your
servant, madam. During this scene Viola is talking to Olivia about the power she holds over Duke
Orsino simply because he is head over heels in love with her. The fact that Shakespeare was
commenting on this power that women held over men it seems only natural to infer that this was a
well known and readily utilized power of women during the time. We nowadays are so quick to judge
saying that women were powerless and only sexual objects in the literature we have read during this
semester, yet it seems that women instead used their sexuality as power over

Why Is It Important To Throw That Away
Have you ever seen something old and think that its trash but it s important to someone else? Well
there s someone out there that knows what I m talking about when I say that. When you think about it
there s tons of stuff that s important to people but everybody else thinks that it just needs to be thrown
away. Like when you see an old pillow that someone has you d probably think, that person needs to
throw that away. This essay is about something my cousin has that is really old and why it s important
to him. My cousin has an old war uniform from what I think is World War 2. It was given to him by
his grandpa a few years ago. He has kept it for some time despite his mom telling him to throw it

obvious one is that the color has faded from green to greyish green. It has also become tattered since it

his favorite is when his grandpa cussed out his teammate for not going to some sort of practice.
I don t really know why it s important to him but I think it s because he wants to be a solder when he
grows up. Also he says that he will try to earn as many badges as his grandpa did while he was active.
He watches a lot of war shows whenever he gets the chance to. He says that he will where the uniform
when he goes to boot camp but i told him that he will get yelled at a lot more than he would he
normally. He goes with his grandpa to sea lot of war movies at his place and sometimes spends the
night. To conclude this he has a uniform that is important to him. The uniform is from World War 2
and was given to him by his grandpa. The uniform is old, torn, tattered, and faded. It s really important
to him and gives him motivation to be a solder one day. Next time you someone with something old

The Privatization Of Water Management
With an ever growing population and more and more countries entering the developed world, the
importance of water management has never been so great. In recent years, the participation of the
private sector in water management has come into play, mainly driven by the long overdue capital
improvements needed, a worldwide shrinking in public revenue, and a growing notion that private
operators are more efficient than public. Though largely opposed by human rights activists, the
privatization of water has benefits that far outweigh the cons. These private companies offer the water
sector greater fiscal responsibility that will keep one of the most important elements on earth readily
available for the long term future, as well as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today water rights have become a very sophisticated problem with more aspects than simply
providing water for everyone, but also with its impact on the environment. Most well developed
countries have solved the majority of this problem with great water systems, but they do still need to
maintain the system to accommodate the growing populations and changing climate. Also many of the
new countries entering the developed industrial world lack this well established system and are
struggling to develop water infrastructure at the same rate as the rising water demand. Unfortunately,
both the developed and developing countries have a long way to go before the issues of water
management can be considered solved in the long term scope.
The strongest claim against the privatization of water comes from civil rights activists like the Public
Citizen organization which views itself as the countervailing force to corporate power (Citizen). The
Public Citizen was established in 1971 and has been lobbying against large corporations successfully
for decades, and have been well documented in their fight against the privatization of water. Their
largest argument points out the well known fact that corporations serve their stakeholders, and not the
people. They are a money hungry beast that has no obligation to stand up for the little guy in tough
times.

Tanning Beds Research Papers
Tanning beds are devices that give off ultraviolet radiation to make a cosmetic tan. They were first
invented in 1978 by Friedrich Wolff. They are typically horizontal making it easier for people lay
down in them. People are usually in there for about 8 to 15 minutes. They can be Shor 2 found at
tanning salons and some people even have their own personal ones in their homes. They contain about
24 to 60 lamps. There are two types of ultraviolet radiation that affect skin. They are called UVA and
UVB. Tanning beds use more UVA light which penetrates deeper layers of the epidermis. People
absorb more UV rays by using tanning beds rather than just tanning outside or at the beach. Some
people just use them for special events like weddings or prom but the radiation from just 10 indoor

Also, there is a 45 percent reduction of lower back pain for those who practice cognitive behavioral

data collected for this study was based on an experiment. In other words, in order to prove that the

necessary to put the cases on different treatments to obtain the desire results. Also, Rabin writes They
were randomly assigned in equal numbers to either mindfulness based stress reduction, cognitive

that sampling was used to avoid the sample to differ from the population in a significant way. Finally,
Rabin does implies that there is a causal association between the variables by expressing that
mindfulness based stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy can be helpful for low back pain

Identity Development of Student Veterans
The intended purpose of this study was to describe and understand the identity development of student
veterans as they transitioned from active duty service members to students at a higher educational
institution. This study was phenomenological in nature and focused on seven individual, veteran, full
time students completing their first undergraduate degree at CU Denver. Despite the increased number
of student veterans on campus, there remains a continued lack of understanding regarding this section
of the student population at colleges across the United States and as I learned, here at CU Denver as
well. It is important that campus administrators have a solid understanding of student veterans needs
and experiences in order to better assist them while they are here at CU Denver. In my study I
concentrated on the actual experiences of seven student veterans attending college full time. This
method was chosen because of its in depth interview nature and the focus on participants lived
experiences and worldviews. Veterans have detailed life experiences that are often not understood by
non veterans so in explaining some of my findings we civilians could have problems relating or
understanding. Because of the time limitations involved in this project, interviewing a larger number
of participants was not feasible, especially considering the attention to detail required for personal,
one on one discussions. Furthermore, since the study focused on student veteran identity

Milton Friedman Analysis
Who should benefit, and at whose expense when running a business? Milton Friedman maintains that
profit is the only true goal, benefitting the stockholders. However, R. Edward Freeman proposes that
the needs of all a business s stakeholders must be balanced when acting. I support Freeman s view
because the environment has changed since the time of Friedman.
Milton Friedman believes the idea of businesses having some sort of responsibility to society is a
baseless notion, and describes discussions encouraging it as lacking meaningful analysis or precision.
What does it mean to say that business has responsibilities? Only people can have responsibilities
(Friedman, p.218)1. Corporations are led by executives which are chosen by the owners ... Show more

Maintaining an archaic business model would be foolish. Friedman argues that an executive should
not take profits away from the company to donate to the poor due to his own responsibilities. He then
uses this to state that business should never perform any sort of act benevolent to society if it would
not further the pursuit of profits. Unfortunately for Freidman s point of view, the blind pursuit of
profits is more often viewed as wicked and immoral (Friedman, p.222). Government regulation is
much more prevalent. Focusing on profits in today s market would soon lead your business on a sharp
decline. Moving from solely focusing on the duty to stockholders, Freeman suggests treating all
stakeholders of a business as more than a means to an end (Freeman, p.233). This can also benefit the
stockholders, as by focusing solely on increasing profits, firms can often incur the wrath of
government, forcing their hand, much like with the separation of AT T into eight separate companies
(Freeman, p.234). Stockholders are the primary beneficiary of corporation, and their money should not
be spent frivolously, but it would be difficult to turn a profit if your suppliers, employees and
customers all desert you. Each group of stakeholders has their own desires, which must be weighed
and considered, for should one leg of business fall, the entire firm will come tumbling to the ground.
The view that profit is the only responsibility for corporations is outdated. Friedman s argument may
have been valid in the past, but no longer applies. Regulation and law have increased the influence of
other stakeholders. To ignore that fact would be corporate

Corruption Within Aggressive Goals Of Macbeth By William...
Corruption within Aggressive Goals Everybody has ambitions; some will create or find ways to
achieve their goals. Most will be legitimate in achieving their own goals that require little ambition,
but people who achieve aggressive goals will be achieved with dishonesty, or the will to achieve it
without caring what happens to anyone along the way. People like this include one who wants to be a
king of some sort, a kingpin or even the ability to survive. People who achieve aggressive goals tend
to disconnect themselves from their own sense of morality. In the book Macbeth, written by the
famous Shakespeare displays how a character named Macbeth betrays all of his morals, becomes
corrupt and insane after becoming king. Macbeth was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He goes slightly insane because he hallucinated a dagger before killing Duncan, and because he had
just killed The King. At this point in the story, he is no longer morally aware of himself and acts
without second thought; he ends up killing anyone who he thinks may suspect him for the murder. He
suspects Banquo of knowing his actions and kills him, but when Macbeth holds a banquet to celebrate
him being king, he sees Banquo s ghost, and becomes absolutely mental. He is no longer morally
aware of himself because he wouldn t have killed Duncan to become king, or kill Banquo just because
he suspected him of knowing his crimes if he was truly aware of his actions. The three witches and
Lady Macbeth played a key role into influencing Macbeth to achieve his goal of being king, through
illegitimate actions. The ambitions of achieving a goal like becoming king can sometimes turn into a
primary thought instead of keeping yourself morally aware. Another type of king, a Kingpin is also an
aggressive goal that will disconnect you from your morals. An example of this of this Kingpin, is Tony

The Conflict Of Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when
Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polyneices. While Antigone believes that it is
her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which
took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles
ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about
the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation,
and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text,
Sophocles explores three unique but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one considers Antigone s actions against period social norms, it becomes apparent that Antigone
serves as a foil to the established stereotype of a traditional Greek woman who is supposed to be pure,
soft spoken, and nearly subservient, much like Ismene is. Antigone s contradiction to societal norms
serves to emphasize the severity of Antigone s rebellion as one not only against Creon but also against
society as well. From this interaction, the audience can glean that Antigone is not only viewed as
rebellious because of her actions, but also because of her sex, which inherently exacerbates the
severity of her crime. Creon s first accusations against the perpetrator of the burial support this initial
claim. Creon refers to the criminal as a he and implies that Creon cannot fathom that a woman might
commit a crime against his rule. Thus, a theme of gender roles emerges, further showing Antigone s
idealism since Antigone believes that she is able to act in rebellion of the throne regardless of
established gender roles and that she has the same fervor to fight against wrongs perpetrated by the
government as any male would have. Such defiance gives Antigone the characterization of a double
minority in Theban society: first because she is a woman and secondly because she questions Creon s
rule. Moreover, as posited by Kirkwood, The

How Did Cleopatra Rise To Power
Cleopatra s rule over Egypt was gained by her influence on male leaders to gain power. Cleopatra is
one of the most remembered if not revered leaders of history due to her sheer intellect, passion, and
persuasiveness. Her ability to make allies and grow her empire into something large and vast shows
her vision and work ethic. The influence she had on people is what helped her gain power over Egypt,
but it is what ultimately led to her unfortunate downfall. Cleopatra comes from a Ptolemaic
background. The Ptolemaics were of a Macedonian Greek background and ruled over Egypt during
the Hellenistic period. This time period was from around 305 BC to 30 BC. The Ptolemaic dynasty
was the last dynasty of ancient Egypt. Her father, Ptolemy XII, ruled from 80 BC to 58 BC due to his
exile to Rome in 58 BC to 55 BC. During the restoration period from 55 BC to 51 BC is where
Ptolemy wrote in his will that Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XIII would have joint rule of the
throne. Her Legacy was passed down onto her by her father, Ptolemy XII, after he died in March of 51
BC. Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XIII were made joint monarchs, they shared the throne. The

Both the professions of Chiropractic and Physiotherapy are manual therapy which requires a lot of
hands on treatment. They re both holistic, specified treatments focusing on musculoskeletal injuries.
Through achieving this in both professions, it allows the patient to maximise the mobility of the
injured site and enhance their quality of life. (9) Another similarity is that both professions use
medical machinery to assess the state of the injury before treatment. For instance, a Chiropractor will
look at x ray films to assess the nature of the condition before they start manipulating and adjusting.
Similarly, a Physiotherapist may also use x rays and/or ultrasound films to assess the nature of the
injury before massaging. There aren t many similarities between Chiropractic and Physiotherapy as
their philosophies are different. Chiropractic is mainly to treat a patient through the manipulation of
the spinal vertebras whereas Physiotherapy focuses on using other modalities to treat a patient.(8)
Some modalities that Physiotherapists may use are heat therapy, cold therapy, massage therapy
(mainly used), and exercise therapy. Unlike chiropractic where it mainly focuses on the spine to treat
an injury, physiotherapy focuses on stabilising the injury itself to prevent further injury through means
such as medical sports tape (not always necessary). Through these forms of therapeutic treatment it
allows the individual to move independently without

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CAPS) Analysis
There are over 20 million people in the world today suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder
(Lenz, Bruijn, Serman, N. S., Bailey, 2014). PTSD is an incredibly misunderstood disorder that has
many different types of assessments and forms of therapy made specifically to help those that are
suffering from it. Being able to know about and understand how and why these treatments work is a
major part in helping these 20 million people. To begin with, for people to fully comprehend what
happens to a person s brain when they are diagnosed with PTSD they have to know about the
assessments those people have to undergo once they are diagnosed. CAPS is an hour long assessment
in which the patient must go through a structured clinical interview (Bardhoshi, Erford, B. T., Duncan,
Dummett, Falco, Deferio, Kraft, 2016, p. 184). The CAPS assessment includes an analysis of 30
different symptoms and scores them on a scale from 0 4 to measure the intensity and the frequency of
those symptoms (Bardhoshi, et al., 2014). CAPS is one of the most frequently used assessments in

Cognitive Processing Therapy is a form of therapy that integrates aspects of traditional cognitive
therapy with information processing theory (Lenz, et al., 2014, p. 360) (as cited in Resick et al., 2007;
Resick Schnicke, 1993). CPT was created based on the presumption that for a person with PTSD to
improve they must first have those memories activated in order for the fallacious attributions and
expectations to be substituted with corrective information (Lenz, et al., 2014, p. 360). CPT often
involves the patients to do assignments out of therapy to let them practice the different perspectives
and action that they had learned in therapy (Lenz et al., 2014). CPT can also be paired with other types
of therapy such as grief counseling if the patient needs it (Lenz et al.,

Marijuana In Medicine
Good health is an important source of human life. Diseases and body disorders are the things that
interfered with the immune system. Doctors play an important role as the backbone of human health
and life. Many top doctors, especially the surgeon, anesthesiologist and other physicians are the
people who carry the life of the patient on their shoulders. When something goes wrong, no matter
what the cause is being, the families and the loved one blame the doctors. The most patients who need
more attention are those having brain disorders such as those use drugs.
Marijuana is an example of a drug that has sprouted up in America. It s a plant come from the

The Physical Effects of Fear
Fear is an emotion that most everyone is familiar with. The psychological effects of fear are readily
apparent but many people are unaware of the physical effects. Some of these are major; others are so
minor they go unnoticed. The philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti who lived during the 20th century said
What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is
understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to
learn about fear, not how to escape from it. Understanding the physiology of fear may provide a
foundation for better coping and treatment strategies in the future.

Since anxiety is experienced commonly, it is important to be aware of the body s response. These
effects are completely normal, and act as a natural coping method of the body. The physical response
to phobias is a bit more extreme. The basic, minor effects begin with sweating, trembling, hot flashes
or chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, a choking sensation, rapid heartbeat, chest pain or
a feeling of tightness in the chest, and a sensation of butterflies in the stomach. These increase to
symptoms such as nausea, headaches and dizziness, feeling faint numbness or pins and needles, dry
mouth, ringing in your ears, and feeling confused or disorientated. Paranoia is similar, but manifests
itself through mainly psychological effects. Terror differs from anxiety and phobia in that there may
be lasting physical effects. The immediate response is an adrenaline rush called the fight or flight
response. When this is triggered, the person experiencing this intense fear will either face the problem
head on, or run from the cause of the terror. The short term effects (those that last for a few days or
weeks) are the body s way of dealing with a particularly frightening trauma.
These feelings are those that each person tends to be aware of whenever a situation goes wrong in
their lives, and the feelings should seem

Da Vinci Code Contradictions
In The Da Vinci Code, a controversial novel about a quest for the real Holy Grail, Dan Brown s
historical claims are grounded in many ideas that have been deemed heretical by the Church. The
controversy in Brown s novel is often based on religious beliefs that are subject to opinions, but
professional logicians and theologians have studied Brown s work to see if the objective components
of his writing are logical and consistent. The search for logic includes questions such as whether
Brown s claims make sense as they stand by themselves or not, and if the claims contradict each other.
While much of Brown s writing is carefully combined into a well written novel, readers can find a few
contradictions within Brown s logical sequence. These contradictory ideas can undermine the novel s
overlying theme and leave readers yearning to further research the validity and probability of the rest
of Brown s claims. One of the most significant themes in Brown s novel is uncovering hidden
meaning in works of art by the famous Leonardo Da Vinci. Brown uses three of Da Vinci s most well
known works of art The Vitruvian Man, the Mona Lisa, and The Last Supper as realistic pieces of
evidence to ground the probability of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, Da Vinci is portrayed as a mysterious man with many obscure personality traits and
characteristics. It is due to Da Vinci s success as a painter that he gains worldwide fame, and it is in
these world famous paintings that he, according to Brown, hides pagan symbols about the real Holy
Grail. This may come across as shocking to most Christians, yet Brown claims Da Vinci held a
reputation of practicing spiritual hypocrisy. If Da Vinci had a reputation of incorporating heretical
elements into his Christian artwork, then it would make little sense that he found such great success
because the Church targeted heretics in the

Theme Of Feminism In Oedipus And Medea
Feminism during the time of Oedipus and Medea centered on women actually trying to make their
voice known in the world. Today, the battle of the sexes continue; however, women have already
established their importance on society and focus fighting more for equality with men. According to
Loren Edelson s article The Trope of Transformation in Medea: A Noh Cycle, she describes the
difference between culture feminist and materialist feminism. The first focuses on the women s roles
in society while the other focuses on woman as a class oppressed by material conditions and social
relation (Edelson 59). Furthermore the feminism described in these tragedies are expressed through
their characteristics and how often they take part in the stories. In the time of these tragedies, women
were expected to be overruled by men with little or no authority over the situations they faced in their
life. Both of the main women in each of these stories live in a time where the husbands are the ruler of
the household, but these two women don t let them have all the power. Both Oedipus the King by
Sophocles and Medea by Euripides highlight feminism, through the women s characteristics, their
drive, and their actions.
In Oedipus the King the main female character is Jocasta who is both Oedipus wife and mother.
Jocasta s character is considered a very distinct woman of her time, through the way she spoke her
mind and interfered in different situations, whereas, most women of her time

Erving Goffman s Stigma And Social Identity
The main point Erving Goffman made in his article Stigma and Social Identity how different types of
stigma effect people in their daily life. You could be stigmatized in many different ways such as how
you look, if you are handicapped or not, or even if you are from a different ethnicity. Goffman defines
three different primary typologies of stigma and they are: (1) abomination of the body, which means
someone has physical disabilities, (2) Blemishes of individual character, meaning moral failing such
as rapist, sex offender, and (3) tribal stigma, meaning your ethnical background and religion (Pontell,
2016, p. 96 97). Goffman also talks about how the individuals, who are stigmatized by the society, feel
when they are around normal individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
96 97). I personally think that blemishes of individual character and tribal stigma are both useful in
understanding the phenomenon of stigmatization, as both them play a key factor when someone is left
out. But I strongly believe that blemishes in individual character play a huge role when it comes to
stigmatization. I say this because now a days in a society if you are from a different ethnical
background, it would not hold you back in some opportunity and in some places it would but it is not
the same as it used to be back in the days. And as of individual who are handicapped are stigmatized
because we assume that he/she might not be able to do the job and somewhere I think that individuals
who are handicap might think the same for themselves and would be held back from opportunities.
But if you have a blemish in your character, such as if you are labeled as rapist or sex offender, you
are always going to be seen as a bad person. People around you are going to say hateful and mean
things about you and sometime with these labels you will not get a job easily. And the reason is that
the society is going to judge you and assume all the bad things you did, even though it might not have

In both the performances of Bill Irwin and Anna Deavere Smith, what theatre is and how it can be

it s dramatic and moving qualities. Looking first to Bill Irwin, it is easily apparent within a few
minutes of viewing his play that it is a comedy. Throughout the performance the narrator reads the
script and all of its contextual cues meant only for the actor and for the stage setup. Bill can be seen

The Influence of Music on Self and Society
Throughout history the unspoken but highly evocative language of music has exerted powerful
influences on individuals and societies alike. Felix Mendelssohn once remarked that music is more
specific about what it expresses than words written about those expressions could ever be. That music
has the power to express, convey and illicit powerful emotions is without question, however the issue
of music s moral and ethical power, and how that power affects individuals and societies, is one that
receives too little attention in our post modern world. Ancient cultures held strong beliefs in the moral
and ethical power of music and as such it was imperative for artists within those cultures to exercise a

the moral and possibly corrupting aspects of the music of his countrymen. He was equally concerned
with the effects of good (moral) music on a person s character: The noble minded man s music is mild
and delicate, keeps a uniform mood, enlivens and moves. Such a man does not harbor pain or mourn
in his heart; violent and daring movements are foreign to him.
As mentioned earlier, a significant aspect of the ancient Chinese concept of music was the effect of
music on one s psyche and the issue of freedom and responsibility in all musical pursuits. When
compared to the rationales and motivation of artists of our modern age the Chinese ideal of music
making seems highly enlightened as evident in the consideration given to the effect of music upon the
character of the listener. If individuals were affected by music it stood to reason that the larger society
could be influenced positively or negatively as well.
The ancient Chinese book The Memorial of Music states: Under the effect of music, the five social
duties are without admixture, the eyes and the ears are clear, the blood and the vital energies are
balanced, habits are reformed, customs are improved, the empire is at complete peace. As we can see,
the Chinese view that social order was juxtaposed to music plays heavily into its philosophical system
and ideals. The connection of the tonal arts to the ordering principles of physical laws and

AID paid for the building of eighteen warehouses, but five were not built, three were not finished,
three collapsed, two had their roofs blown off, and three more quickly crumbled owing to serious
structural deficiencies. Fifty four open wells with contaminated water were to be sanitized, but only
nine were actually improved. A hundred mills for grinding grain were to be constructed; the project

quarter of the roads scheduled for upgrading. Isn t that marvelous? The prospect outlook for U.S

Iago s Immorality
Shakespeare s Iago is one of Shakespeare s most complex villains. At first glance Iago s character
seems to be pure evil. However, such a villain would distract from the impact of the play and would
be trite. Shakespeare to add depth to his villain makes him amoral, as opposed to the typical immoral
villain. Iago s entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the position he
desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most justly deserves.
Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his
conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. Iago s amorality can be

There is a lot of irony that kills Iago, and what seems to be good for him is worse for other people. He
manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be happy when he
sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more than a character, and the
play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that successively produce an
understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a pathological derivative of
ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary to it. In its pure form evil can
hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). The greatest vulnerabilities that Iago sees
in other people is that he will use them, and then he will ultimately destroy them, because of his love

The Business Process Model
Business Process Model
Business Process Model is a set of technologies and standards for the design, execution,
administration, and monitoring of business processes. (Havey 2005)
There are some benefits for using a process model. Firstly, it can improve process communication. To
succeed in a business, members of a firm should have a distinct idea of the daily tasks. For example,
who is the one to bring the products of CMP to major distributors and how the products brought to the
market. A clear communication is important in operation. It can help members of CMP to understand
their ideas clearly and quickly. This will improve business processes and also increase productivity of
members when they are doing their work.
Furthermore, process model also helps in consistency. Consistency is one of the keys to succeed in
business. Such as, implement process in consistent manner and then give the documented process to
the members so they can remember to do the right thing. This can help our company to make better
decisions and we can have the business rule documented down to avoid further confusion. For
instance, members of CMP can resolve problem in a better and efficient way. ... Show more content on

Hence improving operational efficiencies is important to CMP. As a manufacturing company, it can

Verona shows the influence of women on the Renaissance material culture. Smith chose to focus on
Verona and the sixteenth century because although they were behind in their palace building Verona

because of large dowries and increasingly being named in wills of family members, contributing to the

The principal agent system also offers employers a chance to screen applicants that they believe might

Employers can also monitor immigrants after their settlement, and any immigrant s status can be

employers to threaten deportation at their own discretion. The INA (Immigration and Nationality Act)

get answers in the following 7th habits of life. Are you proactive ? do you do things without being
asked to ? are you able to brush things off without getting offended or getting mad when someone tell
you something ? Each day you and I get about 100 chances to choose whether to be proactive or
reactive. by Stephen Covey. You get chances all the time to make choices. Some people choose to be
proactive and do the right things. For example if your know you have to clean the house, why wait
until your mom has to tells you and start yelling at you. It s better to be proactive and do it without her
telling you. You can use this habit in so many ways. The proactive approach to a mistake is to
acknowledge it instantly, and learn from it and not letting it happen again. you have the freedom to
choose your response and to choose your action no one can choose them for you so, if your do
something that s not right why complain and argue, yes you can but, at the same time you were the
one to choose your actions. There are so many things in life that can put you down and make you
upset. You should always take responsibility for your choices and that s the problems with today s
humans in this world. Trying to point the finger at someone else, even tho they already know it was
there fault. You re probably asking why ? that my question for so long but still not being able to get

The Western Springs Fire Department Is The Low Amount Of...
Introduction
The fiscal problem that the Western Springs Fire Department has is the low amount of paid on call
firefighters. If the department looks at these different ways to receive money, they can provide
incentives to draw in future firefighters. Solutions would be to pay a higher hourly rate as well as
implement education tuition funds for the firefighters. As a result, the Department would be able to
offer more incentives to their new firefighters which would lead to increased amount firefighters that
will want to apply at this fire department. This will structure the department to stand out from the
other paid on call departments.
Body
Identify the problem
The fiscal problem is that there are not enough paid on call firefighters to respond to calls. Recruiting
more firefighters to the Western Springs Fire Department would be a benefit to the department as well
as the village. The department would have enough firefighters to control the all calls by mitigating the
problem and save life/ property. This would also eliminate the need of calling and rely on other
departments to respond to the villages own 911 call. If the fire department has extra beneficial items to
offer to the new firefighters it could attract more firefighters to join and this would stop the fiscal
problem.
Offer solutions to the problem
This Fire Department can explore multiple ways to attract future recruits into Western Springs.
Perhaps, this organization can look at other fire departments around

What Ford is saying is that the students just don t really care to complete the course and just quit.
These students are very unmotivated to complete the course. Ford goes on to say when talking about
an algebra class offered online, 90 percent of those coming directly from high school failed the course
(134). Early Ford mentioned that this algebra class was offered for 150 dollars. Not only are the
classes inexpensive but they allow students to take the class whenever, whenever, if ever.
One of the biggest concerns about online education today is something that Thomas Friedman calls
the ambition gap (354). The new American generations are becoming less motivated and less
ambitious than the rest of the world. Not only is sending american jobs to other countries cheaper but
the individuals are much more productive and willing to do the work. Education Online would be
enabling these next generation of students laziness. In a Ted Talks seminar, Anant Agarwal, the head

Treaty Of Versailles Dbq Essay
The treaty solved none of the major problems which caused the Great War in the first place. France,
Great Britain, and Italy wanted to make sure Germany would never be a military threat again so they
wanted to avenge the war by making Germany take all the blame for starting the war. Germany was
not even permitted to send delegates to the conference. Huge reparation payments were awarded the
allies and Germany was never able to make the payments which only weakened her poor economic
situation, and it became worse with the onset of the Depression of the 1930s. All of Germany s
colonies were taken from them and they were not permitted to have a military other than a national
police force. Hitler would later use the treaty as the cause of all the problems faced by Germany and
convince the people that he could restore national pride and world recognition of Germany as an equal
nation. The treaty of Versailles helped cause world war II by demanding that they pay billions in
reparation, forcing them to sign the war guilt clause, taking vital land away from them, and most
importantly greatly restricting Germanys military. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the war the other countries decided that Germany was the one to blame for it and took lots of
things especially land. This lead to a great amount of coal lost, About 40% of hard gathering coal
production. (Doc A) This would matter because it was a great blow to the economy. The other
countries had written the treaty of Versailles and Germans had no say and it had the most effects on
them. No nation can remove this hand from its throat except by the sword. (Doc A) Hitler is saying
here how this isn t right and weren t up to doing this anymore. This matters to the country because this
puts them in major debt until Hitler came to town. This is a good argument because land loses can
make countries go into

Notes On Antacid Potency And Its Effects On Their...
Mary Pyrdol
Honors Chemistry P3 Group 3
Topic: Antacid Potency
Due Date: 9/30/16
Background Research
For the scientists project, they are researching different brands of antacid and their potency to further
expand their knowledge of acids, bases, and neutralization. Their problem statement is which liquid
antacid brand is most potent? In the scientist s experiment, their independent variable is the brand of
liquid antacid. The dependent variable is the amount of drops of antacid it takes for the acid inside the
graduated cylinder to become neutralized. The constant is the amount of grape juice and lemon juice
(drops) in each graduated cylinder.
In a chemical reaction with an acid and base combination, the base neutralizes the acid. Antacids
follow this process once entered your body to soothe an upset stomach during heartburn. The scientist
s hypothesis is if a brand uses the least amount of average drops to neutralize the acid, then it is most
potent. In order to test the hypothesis in the scientist s experiment, they will test different brands of
liquid antacid against each other to find out which is most potent in neutralizing lemon juice (acid).
They will do this by having 3 different graduated cylinders, each filled with 10 drops of non sugar
grape juice (a natural acid base indicator which changes color based upon what the pH of another
liquid is when it makes contact with it) and 10 drops of lemon juice (acid). Each brand will have its
own graduated cylinder. For

Persuasive Essay About Disney
me personally, and we have discussed relationships, love, dating, any of the sort i blame Disney. For the
FALSE HOPE OF A HAPPY ENDING AND A HAPPILY EVER AFTER. It is almost certain our
parents make us girls out to be a princess. As a child we have a favorite princess character. You watch
your favorite movie over and over and over again. You have a princess birthday, your room is all your
favorite princess. Boys are the knight and shining armor, they save us, or they are just what a women
needs. Its almost like our parents let us sit in front of the TV believing that lie. Knowing it doesn t
happen that way but still allowed it. So as we get older we are out scouting our true love, the guy to
sweep us off our feet. Our happy ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It makes me feel like society has made these men think, that us women go through some hard times
and in order for us to get out of it, we need a man to come and save us with a kiss. After that we even
get to be in love. The dependency of a man. We don t need a man to get us out of anything at all.
Although I watched Disney, I m happy I was the only girl. To much of that being on didn t happen to
often. Being raised by my father he always taught me to not need a man and being self sufficient. [of
course who wants their only girl dating] After my divorce I have grown to love my beautiful struggle,
because i look back and know all that I have and overcome is because of me, and my happy kids. Not
a knight and shinning armor that came and saved me or gave me the kiss of true love. THE
EXPECTATION OF HAPPY ENDING IS NOT REAL! Every relationship will come with fights,
arguments, disagreements, trial and tribulation, and a end. MATTER FACT NOTHING IS OURS
FOREVER, just the time being. At the end of those relationships someone is compromising, not so
much a happy ending for someone right? Your fairly God mother isn t going to come and save the day.
Prince charming isn t going to be there to kiss you, and not there with the band aids to mend your
broken heart. PRINCE CHARMING was probably the reason your heart is broken. Guess what

Existentialism
Existentialism and its facets
There are many philosophies that people use in their lives. Some of the ways of thinking are linked to
some prominent people. There is idealism, naturalism, experimentalism, and existentialism among
others. This essay explores existentialism, which has been postulated by Sartre among others. The
other proponents of existentialism include Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, martin Buber, Martin Heidegger
and Martin Buber. The weakness and strengths of existentialism are going to be discussed in this
essay. The main facets of existentialism that are going to be discussed include the following:
authenticity, existence precedes essence, being and nothingness, being in itself, being for itself and
man being condemned to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are free to determine how we live. We should not be tied to the views and dictates of the society in
which we live. We make who we are by the choices we make on a day to day basis. We are
responsible for coming up with our own values. There is no a predetermined value system, a value
system created by the society or religion. What we do is what we value. We are not like equipment
that is made for a particular or special reason. A knife is made to cut; but we are not made for any
particular purpose. We determine the purpose for our lives. Another aspect is that of facticity. This
means that, we, as individuals have not chosen to be borne and live the way we do. We have been
made to live on this earth not through our own choices. The other aspect is that of anxiety. This facet
says that we do not have an established reason for existence, what we do depends on our individual
choices. So we choose our values as well as how we want to live our lives. The issue of despair means
that we live in a world which we have no control over. What happens in the world we live we have no
control on. One example could be that of climate change. We no longer have control over it. Some
natural disasters that happen cannot be controlled by us. The concept of authenticity means that we
must live according to the choices that we make not the choices other people force us to make. We
must be completely free to do what we want. However, for these choices we must

  • 2. America And The Great War America and the Great War At the turn of 19 20 centuries, capitalism has evolved into imperialism. The world was almost completely divided between the major powers. Unbalance of economic and socio political development of the countries increased. States, after others entered the path of capitalist development (United States, Germany, Japan), quickly moved forward and pushed aside from global markets old capitalist countries Great Britain and France, aggressively seeking redistribution of colonies. The most acute contradictions have arisen between Germany and Great Britain, whose interests were encountered in many areas of the globe, but especially in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, where German imperialism mainly directed its trade and colonial expansion. Deep were contradictions between Germany and France. Their sources were, on the one hand, the desire of Germany to perpetuate Alsace and Lorraine, taken from France as a result of the Franco Prussian War (1870 1871), and on the other, the determination of the French to return these areas (Audoin Rouzeau Becker, 2002). French and German interests clashed in colonial question: France attempts to seize Morocco met with strong opposition from Germany also applying for this territory. Since the late 19th century Russian German conflict grew. The expansion of German imperialism in the Middle East, its attempts to establish control over Turkey affected the economic, political and military strategic interests of Russia. ... Underdeveloped Medical Practices The medical practices used today are called barbaric and underdeveloped, causing people in this state to think that the doctors we have use no sense of logic when treating patients. But, there are a great deal of people who beg to differ. Also, there are people who agree with the other critics and furious families who blame the doctors for losing their loved ones. Medical practices, and medicine in general, have helped the soldiers out on the battlefield in many ways, ranging from the lives that the people save for quick and efficient surgeries, like amputation, to the sanitation of hospitals and recovery stations, and the dietary regimes that help the soldiers, and even innocent bystanders, get back to their former shape, even with a lost ... These hospitals, makeshift and actual hospitals, are very resourceful in a way that our men fighting in the War don t have to lay around on threadbare blankets and have very low food supply while they re healing. Makeshift hospitals right now are made out of old churches, with volunteers to help the wounded, both men and women. They are installed with beds, and washrooms where the wounded can clean up independently or with help from the nurses or their assigned doctors. They have even installed a dietary regime to help the men heal faster! But, there are still some questionable methods as to what the hospitals do. Our readers ask, What about the mobile hospitals? and others, What about the training? . Sadly, the nurses in these hospitals aren t really trained, especially the women. But, who says a woman needs to be trained to help men in need? Wouldn t anyone help them in any way they can? Also, the mobile hospitals are used for transporting wounded soldiers to the nearest hospital, while doing what they can to keep the patients stable ( Civil War (Gale)). • 5. Greed In John Steinbeck s The Pearl Throughout his life, Kino has been searching for pearls to make him rich without success until one fateful day when the poor pearl diver finds a perfect pearl in John Steinbeck s The Pearl. However, the pearl he has found glows with a kind of evil that will tear the village apart from its greed. This story shows that greed can make any man evil, and can tear people apart from the ones they love. In the beginning of the story, Coyotito, the baby, gets stung by a scorpion. When taken to the doctor, the doctor refuses to heal him, saying, Have I nothing better to do than cure insect bites for little indians ? I am a doctor, not a veterinary. (11). Later in the book however, when Kino finds the pearl, the doctor was very quick to help the baby, showing immediate interest when saying, You have a pearl?, a good pearl? (35). Kino goes on to say that he will pay the doctor for healing the baby once the pearl is sold. This shows that the doctor is overcome by greed, and, once reluctant to heal Coyotito, is now very willing to heal him because of the promise of money from the pearl. ... In the night while Kino is sleeping, Juana takes the pearl outside to throw back into the ocean. Kino wakes up and when he finds out, he is flooded with anger. In the book, it is described that, He leaped at her and caught her arm and wrenched the pearl from her. • 6. “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker Essay In its simplest form, a child is a product of a man and a woman but Alice Walker one of the foremost authors during the twentieth century, adds depth to her black American women by focusing on the role that race and gender played in their development. Family reunions can be times of great anticipation, excitement and happiness but for Dee, a young, beautiful, African American and our leading character, it was a reunion with underlying, unspoken tensions. Dee was Dee but Dee had changed; a new husband, nice clothes, and a college degree to boat. Walker s story is an evaluation of individuals who get the wrong idea about some of the ideals that black consciousness groups promoted during 1950s. A bit of realism is given in the story by some particular languages, specialized diction, and Mama s exclusive expressions. Walker gives Mama the right to narrate and control to convey the story and thoughts in their own way. For example, some particular language used by Dee s mother like butter churning and cheese making adds realism to the story. This makes the audience think that they are a poor farm family. The mother makes the languages her own (SparkNotes). For instance, she refers to her husband carving benches when the family could not effort instead of afford to buy chairs, and she describes the milk in the churn as crabber . Walker raises comedy as a way of improving the story s observations, such as in the weak comedy irritated by Mama s reaction to Dee s, and Hakim s difficult to pronounce names. Mama eventually gives up on Hakim a barber s name and secretly addresses him as what she thinks he sounds like: a barber. The history of these quilts is a history of the family. The quilts was most valuable to Mama and Maggie, they do not want to see the quilts as stuff to be hung on the wall and respected as folk art, but as the useful household items. Walker is ... There is evolutionary basis behind this split second decision, because it was once important to know in an instant whether or not someone is a friend or foe. In recent years, the participation of the private sector in water management has come into play, mainly driven by the long overdue capital improvements needed, a worldwide shrinking in public revenue, and a growing notion that private operators are more efficient than public. Also many of the new countries entering the developed industrial world lack this well established system and are struggling to develop water infrastructure at the same rate as the rising water demand. Unfortunately, both the developed and developing countries have a long way to go before the issues of water management can be considered solved in the long term scope. The strongest claim against the privatization of water comes from civil rights activists like the Public Citizen organization which views itself as the countervailing force to corporate power (Citizen). The Public Citizen was established in 1971 and has been lobbying against large corporations successfully for decades, and have been well documented in their fight against the privatization of water. Identity Development of Student Veterans The intended purpose of this study was to describe and understand the identity development of student veterans as they transitioned from active duty service members to students at a higher educational institution. This study was phenomenological in nature and focused on seven individual, veteran, full time students completing their first undergraduate degree at CU Denver. Despite the increased number of student veterans on campus, there remains a continued lack of understanding regarding this section of the student population at colleges across the United States and as I learned, here at CU Denver as well. It is important that campus administrators have a solid understanding of student veterans needs and experiences in order to better assist them while they are here at CU Denver. In my study I concentrated on the actual experiences of seven student veterans attending college full time. This method was chosen because of its in depth interview nature and the focus on participants lived experiences and worldviews. Veterans have detailed life experiences that are often not understood by non veterans so in explaining some of my findings we civilians could have problems relating or understanding. Because of the time limitations involved in this project, interviewing a larger number of participants was not feasible, especially considering the attention to detail required for personal, one on one discussions. However, R. Edward Freeman proposes that the needs of all a business s stakeholders must be balanced when acting. I support Freeman s view because the environment has changed since the time of Friedman. Milton Friedman believes the idea of businesses having some sort of responsibility to society is a baseless notion, and describes discussions encouraging it as lacking meaningful analysis or precision. What does it mean to say that business has responsibilities? Only people can have responsibilities (Friedman, p.218)1. Corporations are led by executives which are chosen by the owners ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maintaining an archaic business model would be foolish. Friedman argues that an executive should not take profits away from the company to donate to the poor due to his own responsibilities. He then uses this to state that business should never perform any sort of act benevolent to society if it would not further the pursuit of profits. Unfortunately for Freidman s point of view, the blind pursuit of profits is more often viewed as wicked and immoral (Friedman, p.222). Government regulation is much more prevalent. Focusing on profits in today s market would soon lead your business on a sharp decline. Moving from solely focusing on the duty to stockholders, Freeman suggests treating all stakeholders of a business as more than a means to an end (Freeman, p.233). This can also benefit the stockholders, as by focusing solely on increasing profits, firms can often incur the wrath of government, forcing their hand, much like with the separation of AT T into eight separate companies (Freeman, p.234). Stockholders are the primary beneficiary of corporation, and their money should not be spent frivolously, but it would be difficult to turn a profit if your suppliers, employees and customers all desert you. Each group of stakeholders has their own desires, which must be weighed and considered, for should one leg of business fall, the entire firm will come tumbling to the ground. People like this include one who wants to be a king of some sort, a kingpin or even the ability to survive. He is no longer morally aware of himself because he wouldn t have killed Duncan to become king, or kill Banquo just because he suspected him of knowing his crimes if he was truly aware of his actions. The three witches and Lady Macbeth played a key role into influencing Macbeth to achieve his goal of being king, through illegitimate actions. The Conflict Of Sophocles Antigone Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polyneices. While Antigone believes that it is her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation, and attempt to place government over religion. When one considers Antigone s actions against period social norms, it becomes apparent that Antigone serves as a foil to the established stereotype of a traditional Greek woman who is supposed to be pure, soft spoken, and nearly subservient, much like Ismene is. Antigone s contradiction to societal norms serves to emphasize the severity of Antigone s rebellion as one not only against Creon but also against society as well. From this interaction, the audience can glean that Antigone is not only viewed as rebellious because of her actions, but also because of her sex, which inherently exacerbates the severity of her crime. Creon s first accusations against the perpetrator of the burial support this initial claim. Creon refers to the criminal as a he and implies that Creon cannot fathom that a woman might commit a crime against his rule. Thus, a theme of gender roles emerges, further showing Antigone s idealism since Antigone believes that she is able to act in rebellion of the throne regardless of established gender roles and that she has the same fervor to fight against wrongs perpetrated by the government as any male would have. Such defiance gives Antigone the characterization of a double minority in Theban society: first because she is a woman and secondly because she questions Creon s rule. Through achieving this in both professions, it allows the patient to maximise the mobility of the injured site and enhance their quality of life. (9) Another similarity is that both professions use medical machinery to assess the state of the injury before treatment. For instance, a Chiropractor will look at x ray films to assess the nature of the condition before they start manipulating and adjusting. Similarly, a Physiotherapist may also use x rays and/or ultrasound films to assess the nature of the injury before massaging. There aren t many similarities between Chiropractic and Physiotherapy as their philosophies are different. Chiropractic is mainly to treat a patient through the manipulation of the spinal vertebras whereas Physiotherapy focuses on using other modalities to treat a patient.(8) Some modalities that Physiotherapists may use are heat therapy, cold therapy, massage therapy (mainly used), and exercise therapy. PTSD is an incredibly misunderstood disorder that has many different types of assessments and forms of therapy made specifically to help those that are suffering from it. Being able to know about and understand how and why these treatments work is a major part in helping these 20 million people. To begin with, for people to fully comprehend what happens to a person s brain when they are diagnosed with PTSD they have to know about the assessments those people have to undergo once they are diagnosed. CAPS is an hour long assessment in which the patient must go through a structured clinical interview (Bardhoshi, Erford, B. T., Duncan, Dummett, Falco, Deferio, Kraft, 2016, p. 184). The CAPS assessment includes an analysis of 30 different symptoms and scores them on a scale from 0 4 to measure the intensity and the frequency of those symptoms (Bardhoshi, et al., 2014). Since anxiety is experienced commonly, it is important to be aware of the body s response. These effects are completely normal, and act as a natural coping method of the body. The physical response to phobias is a bit more extreme. The basic, minor effects begin with sweating, trembling, hot flashes or chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, a choking sensation, rapid heartbeat, chest pain or a feeling of tightness in the chest, and a sensation of butterflies in the stomach. These increase to symptoms such as nausea, headaches and dizziness, feeling faint numbness or pins and needles, dry mouth, ringing in your ears, and feeling confused or disorientated. Paranoia is similar, but manifests itself through mainly psychological effects. Terror differs from anxiety and phobia in that there may be lasting physical effects. The immediate response is an adrenaline rush called the fight or flight response. When this is triggered, the person experiencing this intense fear will either face the problem head on, or run from the cause of the terror. • 24. Da Vinci Code Contradictions In The Da Vinci Code, a controversial novel about a quest for the real Holy Grail, Dan Brown s historical claims are grounded in many ideas that have been deemed heretical by the Church. The controversy in Brown s novel is often based on religious beliefs that are subject to opinions, but professional logicians and theologians have studied Brown s work to see if the objective components of his writing are logical and consistent. The search for logic includes questions such as whether Brown s claims make sense as they stand by themselves or not, and if the claims contradict each other. While much of Brown s writing is carefully combined into a well written novel, readers can find a few contradictions within Brown s logical sequence. These contradictory ideas can undermine the novel s overlying theme and leave readers yearning to further research the validity and probability of the rest of Brown s claims. One of the most significant themes in Brown s novel is uncovering hidden meaning in works of art by the famous Leonardo Da Vinci. Brown uses three of Da Vinci s most well known works of art The Vitruvian Man, the Mona Lisa, and The Last Supper as realistic pieces of evidence to ground the probability of his ... Today, the battle of the sexes continue; however, women have already established their importance on society and focus fighting more for equality with men. According to Loren Edelson s article The Trope of Transformation in Medea: A Noh Cycle, she describes the difference between culture feminist and materialist feminism. The first focuses on the women s roles in society while the other focuses on woman as a class oppressed by material conditions and social relation (Edelson 59). Furthermore the feminism described in these tragedies are expressed through their characteristics and how often they take part in the stories. In the time of these tragedies, women were expected to be overruled by men with little or no authority over the situations they faced in their life. Both of the main women in each of these stories live in a time where the husbands are the ruler of the household, but these two women don t let them have all the power. Both Oedipus the King by Sophocles and Medea by Euripides highlight feminism, through the women s characteristics, their drive, and their actions. In Oedipus the King the main female character is Jocasta who is both Oedipus wife and mother. You could be stigmatized in many different ways such as how you look, if you are handicapped or not, or even if you are from a different ethnicity. Goffman defines three different primary typologies of stigma and they are: (1) abomination of the body, which means someone has physical disabilities, (2) Blemishes of individual character, meaning moral failing such as rapist, sex offender, and (3) tribal stigma, meaning your ethnical background and religion (Pontell, 2016, p. 96 97). I personally think that blemishes of individual character and tribal stigma are both useful in understanding the phenomenon of stigmatization, as both them play a key factor when someone is left out. But I strongly believe that blemishes in individual character play a huge role when it comes to stigmatization. I say this because now a days in a society if you are from a different ethnical background, it would not hold you back in some opportunity and in some places it would but it is not the same as it used to be back in the days. And as of individual who are handicapped are stigmatized because we assume that he/she might not be able to do the job and somewhere I think that individuals who are handicap might think the same for themselves and would be held back from opportunities. But if you have a blemish in your character, such as if you are labeled as rapist or sex offender, you are always going to be seen as a bad person. As mentioned earlier, a significant aspect of the ancient Chinese concept of music was the effect of music on one s psyche and the issue of freedom and responsibility in all musical pursuits. When compared to the rationales and motivation of artists of our modern age the Chinese ideal of music making seems highly enlightened as evident in the consideration given to the effect of music upon the character of the listener. If individuals were affected by music it stood to reason that the larger society could be influenced positively or negatively as well. The ancient Chinese book The Memorial of Music states: Under the effect of music, the five social duties are without admixture, the eyes and the ears are clear, the blood and the vital energies are balanced, habits are reformed, customs are improved, the empire is at complete peace. The treaty of Versailles helped cause world war II by demanding that they pay billions in reparation, forcing them to sign the war guilt clause, taking vital land away from them, and most importantly greatly restricting Germanys military. ... • 43. Notes On Antacid Potency And Its Effects On Their... Mary Pyrdol Honors Chemistry P3 Group 3 Topic: Antacid Potency Due Date: 9/30/16 Background Research For the scientists project, they are researching different brands of antacid and their potency to further expand their knowledge of acids, bases, and neutralization. Their problem statement is which liquid antacid brand is most potent? In the scientist s experiment, their independent variable is the brand of liquid antacid. The dependent variable is the amount of drops of antacid it takes for the acid inside the graduated cylinder to become neutralized. The constant is the amount of grape juice and lemon juice (drops) in each graduated cylinder. In a chemical reaction with an acid and base combination, the base neutralizes the acid. Antacids follow this process once entered your body to soothe an upset stomach during heartburn. The scientist s hypothesis is if a brand uses the least amount of average drops to neutralize the acid, then it is most potent. In order to test the hypothesis in the scientist s experiment, they will test different brands of liquid antacid against each other to find out which is most potent in neutralizing lemon juice (acid). They will do this by having 3 different graduated cylinders, each filled with 10 drops of non sugar grape juice (a natural acid base indicator which changes color based upon what the pH of another liquid is when it makes contact with it) and 10 drops of lemon juice (acid). Each brand will have its own graduated cylinder. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is almost certain our parents make us girls out to be a princess. As a child we have a favorite princess character. You watch your favorite movie over and over and over again. You have a princess birthday, your room is all your favorite princess. Boys are the knight and shining armor, they save us, or they are just what a women needs. Its almost like our parents let us sit in front of the TV believing that lie. Knowing it doesn t happen that way but still allowed it. So as we get older we are out scouting our true love, the guy to sweep us off our feet. Our happy ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It makes me feel like society has made these men think, that us women go through some hard times and in order for us to get out of it, we need a man to come and save us with a kiss. After that we even get to be in love. The dependency of a man. We don t need a man to get us out of anything at all. Although I watched Disney, I m happy I was the only girl. To much of that being on didn t happen to often. Being raised by my father he always taught me to not need a man and being self sufficient. [of course who wants their only girl dating] After my divorce I have grown to love my beautiful struggle, because i look back and know all that I have and overcome is because of me, and my happy kids. Not a knight and shinning armor that came and saved me or gave me the kiss of true love. THE EXPECTATION OF HAPPY ENDING IS NOT REAL! Every relationship will come with fights, arguments, disagreements, trial and tribulation, and a end. MATTER FACT NOTHING IS OURS FOREVER, just the time being. At the end of those relationships someone is compromising, not so much a happy ending for someone right? Your fairly God mother isn t going to come and save the day. Prince charming isn t going to be there to kiss you, and not there with the band aids to mend your broken heart. PRINCE CHARMING was probably the reason your heart is broken. Guess what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are free to determine how we live. We should not be tied to the views and dictates of the society in which we live. We make who we are by the choices we make on a day to day basis. We are responsible for coming up with our own values. There is no a predetermined value system, a value system created by the society or religion. What we do is what we value. We are not like equipment that is made for a particular or special reason. A knife is made to cut; but we are not made for any particular purpose. We determine the purpose for our lives. Another aspect is that of facticity. This means that, we, as individuals have not chosen to be borne and live the way we do. We have been made to live on this earth not through our own choices. The other aspect is that of anxiety. This facet says that we do not have an established reason for existence, what we do depends on our individual choices. So we choose our values as well as how we want to live our lives. The issue of despair means that we live in a world which we have no control over. What happens in the world we live we have no control on. One example could be that of climate change. We no longer have control over it. Some natural disasters that happen cannot be controlled by us. The concept of authenticity means that we must live according to the choices that we make not the choices other people force us to make. We must be completely free to do what we want. However, for these choices we must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
