The Great Barrier Reef Has Lived Off Of The Southern Coast...
For over 25 million years, the Great Barrier Reef has lived off of the northeastern coast of Australia.
The first human civilizations started around 5,000 years ago and industrialization of humans about 200
years ago (History of Humans, 2016). The human race s timeline is just a small fraction in comparison
to the reefs, but somehow humanity has managed completely derail mother nature in an
incomprehensible amount of ways. Healthwise, the Great Barrier Reef is in the worst shape of its life
and which just so happens to match ever so nicely with the rapid pandemic of global warming that has
increased over the past couple of decades. The rise in air temperature is gradually increasing the ocean
s temperature as well which is causing colossal damage to Great Barrier Reef and reefs across the
globe. If we do not take action immediately in reducing our planet s rising temperature and ever
increasing CO2, it will soon be too late to save this natural wonder as well as the countless organism
that call it home.
Besides being a spectacle to look at, coral reefs are also one of the most diverse ecosystems on the
planet. In addition to ⅓ of all fish (not just species) spend at least a portion of their lives on a reef,
they are also home to mollusks, sponges, turtles, and a plethora of different species of coral (Basic
Facts, 2014). Coral reefs also can protect coastlines from wave erosion and also help support
fisherman that depend on the reef as their livelihood. Contrary to the

Strasburg s Savior Analysis
The perceived Savior of the Washington Nationals has finally become what everyone expected him to
be coming out of San Diego State in 2010. It made be a slight shock to people that he ranks this high
because of his injury history. However, the reality is he s having a breakout season and should be
recognized for his historic work in 2016 and overall he s been pretty darn good throughout his career.
A big reason for Strasburg s success in 2016 I believe is the new leadership in the Nationals dugout.
Manager Dusty Baker has brought a calming influence to everybody, including Strasburg telling him
to smile more and enjoy going to the mound every fifth day. I think he s taken that to heart he has a 13
1 record with a 2.83 ERA thus far in 2016.

Infant Caregiver Attachment
The essence of attachment to a developing infant cannot be overstated. It is at the heart of healthy
child development. Also, it lays a foundation when it comes to relating with others. It plays a crucial
role in influencing the parent s ability to nurture and to be responsive to their children. The effects of
attachment to the developing infant are long term. Bowlby, the developer of the theory of infant
caregiver attachment, attachment security determines the infant s preferential desire for contact with
his or her caregiver (Levine, 23). The child uses the caregiver as a secure base from which to explore
the environment. When infants develop securely attached relationships to their caregivers, they will
have positive behaviours in the future. They also tend to show resiliency to new environments.
Attachment to the developing infant plays a crucial role in regulating stress in times of illness, anxiety
and distress. Infants develop different kinds of attachment relationships. For instance, some infants
can become securely attached to the parent while others find themselves in an insecure attachment
relationship. The differences are determined by the social environment during the first few years of
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first phase is the pre attachment stage which takes place from birth through to 3 months. In this
stage, the infant responds to people without any discrimination. The second stage of the attachment is
the preliminary attachment which takes place between 3 to 12 months. The infant begins to respond
differently depending on people. He or she responds to familiar people with smiles. Besides, he or she
prefers to be with the primary caregiver more than other individuals. The infant might express this by
becoming upset or challenging to calm down when not with the familiar caregiver or

Diesel vs Gas Essay
Gasoline vs. Diesel
You re in the market for a new truck; you have an idea about what you want but not quite sure if you
want a gasoline or a diesel engine. Well, gas and diesel engines are very similar yet different in quite a
few ways.
At first glance, someone who doesn t know much about either of the two engines might ask, What s
the difference? To the untrained eye they might look exactly alike, but don t judge the engine by its
exterior look.
Gas engines are mainly used by the individual in personal vehicles whereas diesels are very popular in
the commercial and industrial fields. Diesel engines are used by the navy in their ships and by the
army in their tanks and big trucks. Some of the main reasons for choosing this engine are ... Show

The continuing rotation of the crankshaft drives the piston back up, ready for the next cycle. The
piston moves in a reciprocating motion, which is converted into circular motion of the crankshaft,
which ultimately propels the car. Gas engines usually have about the same about of horsepower as
they do torque. The diesel engine usually has twice as much torque as it does horsepower, thus it is the
better hill climber and load carrier.
As you might have noticed, diesel engines have a harder time starting in cold weather compared to gas
engines due to the fact that gas engines have an electrical started system. Gas engines rely on fuel, air
and spark to ignite whereas diesel engines rely on heat and compression to initiate spontaneous
combustion.
Some of the more obvious differences are the prices for fuel. As of now, March 2011, the price for
diesel is significantly higher than gas. Gas is approaching the range of $3.40 per gallon to $3.70 per
gallon (depending on what part of the country you re in, it could be higher than that). Diesel, on the
other hand, is nearing $4.00 per gallon and quickly rising. I remember 7 or 8 years ago when diesel
was cheaper than gas, and gas was just above $1.00 per gallon.
Overall, I would say the diesel engine is the better of the two. Of course it all depends on the usage
and perhaps the price of the vehicle but overall the diesel engine is more rugged and reliable, long
lasting, stronger, more efficient and requires less

Revolutionary War

The battle of Trenton and Princeton began to erupt in the same year of the Revolutionary War. The
Revolutionary War had started because the Americans wanted the same rights the as the British
citizens had. The British refused to give Americans the same rights because they (British) didn t think
the Americans shouldn t be represented as a part of the British Parliament, instead their (British)
minds were more focused on building revenue. The British had ignored the Americans demands in

that they had more challenges to face. George Washington knew that doing nothing would be
dangerous so he turned his focus to planning another attack at Princeton. George Washington was
convinced that his men couldn t hold Trenton against British. George Washington had learned about
General Charles and James Grant with the eight hundred British Troops marching south from

secretary of the US Treasury, Alexander Hamilton had cannons fired at the British because he had

After the Battles of Trenton and Princeton the Americans quickly withdrew after taking prisoners,

Using the full spectrum of segmentation variables, describe how Scouts Canada could segment its
market place.
Scouts Canada is a Canadian organization; therefore the organizations segmentation strategy is
primarily geographic. The company focuses on the Canadian market, including all provinces and
territories of the country.
Based on what the organization wants to accomplish Scouts Canada should dedicate their marketing
strategies to study and segment the market based on demographics (age, family size, life cycle) and
psychographics.
Demographic Segmentation fragments the market into categories according to different demographic
factors, usually with regards to the wants and needs of multiple consumer groups. The ... Show more

In doing so they also created more volunteering spots as to provide easier access and increase
opportunities. They also increased their appeal to younger members by providing potential for
leadership growth. In addition they had the uniforms redesigned by Joe Fresh, an innovative Canadian
designer. Also they intensified their environmental campaign and centric values by planting trees,
promoting recycling, and other projects. To further promote their new image they published a simple
and effective scouts manual, detailing new information, as well as designing a new logo and bilingual
motto to appeal to the countries two official languages. Finally they fabricated new print
advertisements that highlighted health issues such as obesity, and quirky ads, which captured the
public interest.
Question 3
What steps did Scouts Canada take to reposition its offering?
An initial aspect that Scouts Canada has reconstructed is their experiences, with the hopes of
expanding their potential scout member range.
The case study stated that members would start when they were very young and lose interest after a
few years. So one of the things Scouts Canada had to do was find a way to retain them past those few
years. The reason why Scouts Canada faced its loss of potential members was because they failed to
understand their market segments. They could not tailor their product or membership so that it

Missoula discuss treatment of Japanese Americans interned at Fort Missoula. Italian Boys discusses it
from the perspective of an Italian internee. He saw no difference in behavior towards Italians versus
Japanese Americans. He believed the Italians received fair treatment, therefore so did the Japanese
Americans, which contrasts other sources. An Alien Place provides an all around view on how the
Japanese Americans were treated and why. Imprisoned Apart focuses on the joys and sorrows felt by
one Japanese American in a more personal way than any other sources do. Because it is written in

For starters, because there were teenagers at Heart Mountain, there was a high school for their
education. According to Mamoru Inouye, students at the high school were able to compete against
area high schools and treated well by opponents. There were even Japanese Americans on other teams
that were not interned since it was not the west coast. Caucasian teachers at Heart Mountain quickly
cycled through because of poor government handling of the school. Consequently, Japanese American
teachers were not paid as well as their Caucasian counterparts (58 60). Secondly, many internees had
jobs, though their pay was low. Money made at these jobs could be used to buy essentials in camp
stores (Bent). The third difference was food quality. At first, the food was terrible at Heart Mountain.
However, it improved and it was discovered people working in administration had stolen food
intended for internees (Bent). Finally, the government considered internees for the draft. Officials
devised two questions to determine their eligibility: (1) if they were willing to renounce loyalty to the
Japanese emperor and (2) if they were loyal to the U.S. Many people answered no to these questions
due to their resentment of getting their rights

Mentally Pampering Students Analysis
Implications of Mentally Pampering Students Over the past few years, the environment of American
college campuses has changed drastically. More so than ever before, students and faculty must be
extremely careful over their words and actions because of the recent trend of protecting students from
anything that can offend them or cause them discomfort. The young men and women who are
currently attending these institutes of higher learning will be the next generation of leaders in real

uncomfortable ideas on a regular basis. In order to deal with the inevitable difficulties that they will

Tocqueville focuses heavily on equality, and at one point he connects equality to the principal source
of beliefs: I see two very clear tendencies in equality: one impels each individual towards new ways of
thinking, while the other would induce him to give up thinking voluntarily (Tocqueville 492).
Tocqueville would not be surprised to see what is happening at institutes of higher learning today,
since it is basically the shift in weight from the former to the latter. While these students could talk to
people who have different ideas in order to gain new perspectives or strengthen their own, they instead
choose to retreat into spaces where they can take comfort by avoiding uncomfortable topics and
protecting their own beliefs. A passage from Judith Shulevitz s New York Time article In College and
Hiding from Scary Ideas gives an effective example of the modern problem: At one point [a student
and sexual assault victim named Emma Hall] went to the lecture hall... but after a while, she had to
return to the safe space. I was feeling bombarded by a lot of viewpoints that really go against my
dearly and closely held beliefs, Ms. Hall said (Shulevitz 2). Instead of facing the painful situation and
ideas that conflicted her own, she returned to a space where no one would challenge her opinions or
make her think of distressing memories. Correspondingly, Tocqueville makes the remark in
Democracy in America that One of the distinctive characteristics of democratic centuries is a taste for
easy successes and instant gratification. This can be seen in intellectual pursuits as well as other areas
of life (498). In other words, people in America sometimes fail to see the big picture they tend to favor

Essay on The Continuing Mystery of SIDS
The Continuing Mystery of SIDS
Sudden infant death syndrome ( SIDS) is the greatest cause of infant deaths ranging from ages one
month to one year. Most of these deaths occur before the age of six months. Normally, any
unexplainable infant death is considered to be due to SIDS. Numerous attempts have been made to
discover the exact cause of this syndrome. However, the only known pathology is that SIDS is due to a
dysfunction or abnormality in the cardiac and/or respiratory systems. To this point, an exact and
definite cause has not been named. This paper will attempt to present several of the proposed and
hypothesized causes of SIDS.
First of all, it is necessary to understand some of the important features of this syndrome (Naeye, ...

Possible post mortem characteristics of SIDS victims have been found to be normal in comparison
with post mortem non SIDS infants of the same age. Furthermore, no abnormalities in the growth and
morphology of the lungs and hearts of SIDS infants have been found. Therefore, in more recent years,
research has shifted from the actual death and autopsy findings to chronic abnormalities found within
these infants prior to death.
The list of proposed chronic abnormalities is lengthy. To this date, research has confirmed the
following: 1) SIDS is due to a dysfunction of the cardiac and/or respiratory systems, and 2) the death
of the infant is due to hypo ventilation of the lungs and periods of complete cessation of breathing or
apnea. Hypo ventilation and apnea cause hypo perfusion of the tissues with necessary oxygen.
Ischemia of tissues results and eventually causes death. Research now centers around discovering the
cause of infant hypo ventilation and apnea.
Hypothesized causes of SIDS generally have fallen into three basic categories:
1) causes related to the respiratory system; 2) causes related to the cardiac and circulatory system; and
3) causes related to levels of various circulating substances (enzymes, neurotransmitters, viruses)
within the body
First of all, most SIDS research has been focused upon the neuronal control of the respiratory system.
As mentioned previously, the post mortem lungs of SIDS victims showed no evidence of

Twelve Angry Men is set during a scorching summer day in New York City, where twelve men
(Martin Balsam, John Fiedler, Lee J. Cobb, E.G. Marshall, Jack Klugman, Edward Binns, Jack
Warden, Henry Fonda, Joseph Sweeney, Ed Begley, George Voskovec, and Robert Webber) sit on the

accused of murdering his abusive father and tried for first degree murder. Eager to escape the heat and
to attend to other matters, eleven of the twelve men cast their vote as guilty, but juror eight does not.

The legal responsibilities of the jury demonstrate the second topic area in the AP Government Course,
Political Beliefs and Behaviors. As seen in the film, many jurors misunderstand their legal duties, and
some simply do not understand the concept of unreasonable doubt. For example, the seventh juror is
more concerned about the baseball game than thoroughly sorting through the evidence. Additionally,
two jurors play a game of tic tac toe, treating the defendant s life like a game. They trust the
circumstantial evidence because it confirms their bigoted attitudes. For instance, the sixth juror
believes that the boy is a murderer because of his low socioeconomic background and they all assume
that the boy is guilty because of the witnesses testimonies. All these events display the ways in which
each character participates in political life and exercises their opinion and views on politics.
Additionally, the eighth juror believes that the boy has the right to a fair trial, embodying the last topic
in the AP Government Course. He points out that despite his upbringing and dysfunctional
background, the defendant is innocent until proven

What Does The Tyger Mean
An Analysis of William Blake s The Tyger William Blake is known for two collections of poems,
those collections are Songs of Innocence (1789) and it was added onto with Songs of Experience
(1794). It is from those collections that he draws out his innermost thoughts on life often looking at a
being of God or the very human existence. In his poem The Tyger he used numerous literary devices
that center on divine creation ultimately putting beauty and destruction hand in hand, it does this
through the lens of a Romantic Era poet. To first understand the poem by Blake it must first be
dissected. The first stanza had a set of word choice that gave a question that was expanded upon by
each stanza following the first. This question was: What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy
fearful symmetry? (lines 3 4). It is from that moment that the poem eludes to a being above through
the use of the word immortal , and considering the others works done by Blake it can be assured that
this being that is eluded to as a crafter is God. The word choice gave way to another intriguing piece
of evidence for Romanticism and that was the use of the words fearful and symmetry together.
Symmetry in art forms beauty. It is said that the more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using Video Games in the Classroom
Video Games could be used in the classroom for a wide variety of different subjects, ranging from
math, to science, to english and even in foreign language classes as many games that are made in
different countries are in that country s own language. Of Course games are almost always translated
into different languages so that people worldwide could play them but a foreign language teacher
wouldn t find it too difficult to get ahold of a copy of a game in a foreign language. Music classes
such as band or choir could even use video games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band to teach their
classes about different types of music and different artists and to involve students more in playing
music and singing, this could even lead to some students entering a career in the world of music. A
Science class could use the wonderfully challenging puzzle game Portal to teach students about
physics, momentum and other gravity based mechanics. There are many different ways that video
games could be used in the classroom, schools just need to figure out the best ways to implement them
and make it work.
There are quite a few benefits to using video games in education, one big one being students would be
way more excited about learning through video games rather than through the standard way lessons
are taught in most schools today. If students are actually looking forward to a lesson than their
performance on the assignment is going to be greatly increased, students will actually want to

The Constitution And The Texas Constitution
A constitution is an accumulation of principles and rules that establishes the character of a
government. Additionally, by showing the authority each part of the government holds, it is describing
the organization and regulation of the government and how a society must conform. The Texas
constitution has been reformed on multiple occasions and is troublesome to amend due to it being
highly restrictive and detailed. The process on how to amend the Texas constitution, the attempts and
failure of the constitutional reform in the 1970 s and why Texas should adopt an easily accessible and
flexible constitution are the primary focal points that will be addressed throughout this essay. Texas,
amongst many of the state constitutions, has had a great deal of proposals to amend the state
constitution. Reminiscing back to 1876 when the Texas constitution was adopted, there have been six
hundred and sixty six prospective proposals to amending the constitution. However, of the six hundred
and sixty six proposals, four hundred and eighty four have been ratified leaving the remaining few
defeated by the Texas voters. Furthermore amending the Texas constitution, according to Article 17 of
the Texas constitution involves applying a two step process. The process starts off by obtaining a two
thirds vote from each house in the legislature and a majority vote by the voters. The two thirds vote
consists of having one hundred members from the House of Representatives and twenty one from the

Operating Lease, Building, Machinery, And Construction Lease
Businesses own fixed assets (such as plant, building, machinery etc). But, for a business, it is the use
of fixed assets that is important, not the ownership. A business can raise capital through debt or equity
and purchase the fixed assets. Alternative way of using the fixed asset is by leasing them. Leasing
allows a firm to use an asset even though firm does not have capital to buy the asset.
In a lease transaction, there are two parties:
1. Lessee: The user of the leased assets
2. Lessor: The owner of the assets.
Leases can be broadly classified into two categories: Operating lease and Financial lease
Operating Lease
In operating lease, the fundamental rights and responsibilities of ownership are retained by the lessor.
The lessor transfers only the right to use the property to the lessee. At the end of the lease period, the
lessee returns the property to the lessor. The lessee does not assume any risk of ownership. Thus,
operating lease does not affect the balance sheet. The lease expenses are treated as operating expenses
in income statement.
In operating lease, usually lessor maintains the property. The cost of maintenance is built into the lease
payment. Generally the lease contract is written for a period much shorter than the expected useful life
of the asset. The lease contract generally contains cancellation clause that gives the lessee right to
cancel the lease before lease expiry. The lease payment on operating lease can be structured in two

Essay about The Plight of Immigrants to Boston
The Plight of Immigrants to Boston
Since its conception in the early 1600 s, Boston, the so called City on a Hill, has opened its doors to
all people of all ethnic and religious background. At times there were many who fought to prevent the
immigrants, while other people, at the same time, helped those who made it to the Americas, more
specifically, Boston to make a new life for themselves. The immigrants from Ireland were not
unfamiliar with this trend in American history. More often than not, the Irish immigrants were met
with adversity from the native Bostonians. Founded by the Puritans in the late 1600 s, Boston and its
people were not completely open to immigrants, at first, which seemed odd, considering they were

Unfortunately, the Irish Catholic immigrants were not looked very highly upon at first. The Puritan
citizens of Boston often looked those that actually expressed their religious, papist beliefs in public
with suspicion and fear. These Puritans continued to regard Catholicism as both a subversive political
menace as well as a fearsome religious heresy. This, considering the fact that those same Puritans and
Protestants came to the Colonies in search of religious freedom, was quite bold on their parts. For
example, many Roman Catholics were excluded from liberties and rights that other citizens had. They
were often placed under unusually severe limitations on their everyday life especially on those actions
where religious believes played and important role. Following the Revolutionary War, some tolerance
for Catholics was present there was a sufficient atmosphere of forbearance in Boston to accommodate
the handful of Roman Catholics who had now begun to practice heir religion openly. This new found
tolerance could not have come at better time. After the Revolutionary War, larger numbers of Irish
immigrants were joining their friends and families in America. From 1825 to 1830, approximately
125,000 people emigrated from Ireland to the Americas, an average of 20,000 a year. Over 30,000 of
them came to Boston and by 1830, the Irish Catholic population of Boston had grown to 8,000.

Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story
follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the
heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying
Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due
to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In
Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and
barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by
creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and
friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner,
there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner
delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonist in the book, whilst in the film this is not
portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less
plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film
adaptation. Therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless his character in the film differs from the one in the book. In the book Gally has already
been stung by the grievers and this means he also underwent the Changing. This throws light upon the
question why Gally feels so much hate towards Thomas. Thus, this is clear in the book, in the film this
remains a mystery. Another reason for his changed character is the choice of scenes in the film. In the
film, some scenes that could have caused Gally to create more resentment towards Thomas are
eliminated. For instance, on Thomas s first day, he and Chuck are fooling with him whilst he is in the

Service Is An Important Part Of The Global Economy Essay
Services are intangible activities or benefits that an organization provides to satisfy consumers needs
in exchange for money or something else of value (Kerin, Hartley 322). Service are an important part
in the global economy. Services are now apart of the GDP. There are four elements of services which
are intangibility, inconsistency, inseparability, and inventory. Intangibility means it can not be touched,
held, or seen before the purchase. These services help consumers to get information or show the
benefits of their product. Inconsistency is developing, pricing, promoting, and delivering services is
complicated because the quality of service is often inconsistent. This is because these services require
people to do them, and different people work differently. Inseparably have problem of consistency.
Consumers can not separate the delivered of the service from the service itself. The amount of
interaction between consumer and the service depends on the extent to which the consumer must be
physically present to review the service. Finally, there is inventory which are different from products
and are perishable. The four I s provide mulplie services that ompanies are not cleary service based or
product based. Companies bring ti the market ranges from the tangble to the intable. The range of
product dominant to service dominat ofeering is called service continuum. Services can be classified
as equipment based or people based. This is know as the service continuum.

Comparing Apology By Plato, Aristophanes, And Xenophon
The Socratic problem refers to the difficulty of determining what information from historical
dialogues depicts the actual views of Socrates. Socrates was an actual historical figure, but there are
no works from Socrates himself. Therefore, we read of Socrates through his students and others during
his time. Plato, Aristophanes, and Xenophon are three main writers who studied the character of
Socrates. Since no writings from Socrates are saved, his views must be discerned from the sometimes
contradictory and secondary reports.
In the Apology by Plato, Socrates seems to be a very simple man. He professes his own ignorance; he
engages in conversation with someone claiming to be an expert, by asking simple questions, Socrates
gradually reveals that the speaker is in fact does not actually know anything about the matters he
claimed to be an expert to. Socrates believes he is smarter because he knows he does not know
everything while others think they do. In the Apology Socrates states to put it bluntly I ve been

Eva Braun s Definition Of The Word Evil
How could the woman behind the most deviant man in the history of the world go somehow
unnoticed. Was she a possible helping hand in what was the worst genocide in recent history? Eva
Braun is quite possibly the second hand definition of the word evil. Was her life really like this? Could
a women that lived a seemingly normal life be capable of such heinous crimes? Eva Braun was a right
hand man to one of history s most notorious criminals, but perhaps in her own light was not quite the
woman that everybody makes her out to be.
Something that many people do not know about Eva is that, she was a simple woman who lived a
seemingly simple life. Eva Braun was born on February 6, 1912 to Friedrich and Franziska Braun, in
Munich Germany(3). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun never shared an intimate moment together or so it seems (Nobody knew
Hitler s true sexuality so this may of had an impact)(3).Their relationship was strictly domestic and
relaxatory rather than the usual erotic relationship that many couples share today(9). They were
merely close friends that thrived off of each others joy and companionship in times of need(3).
Another part of their relationship that was different than most is that it was completely private. Hitler
and Eva rarely appeared in public together(9). Even if they did, they would not sit together or give any
evidence that they were even acquaintances of one another(8). This was hard on Eva, as she longed for
his attention. She would often cry when he was not around and it was apparent that he had a
significant impact on her mood. She even went to lengths as trying to take her own life at one point in
time because she did not think she would ever be good enough for him(3). This proved to change the
views that Hitler had on the relationship, as it started to drastically change(8). Soon after the incident
they moved in together and Eva started to arrange gatherings for Hitler s closest friends otherwise
known as his inner circle . It was not long after that they started to live together that they were
married. It was in April of 1945 in Berlin where the ceremony happened, tragically a day before both
of their deaths. Although they were close companions for many years, Eva never did

This was led by Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott. These conventions also were held in places like

movement (Imbornoni).
There were other ways women were advancing their political status. Due to the fact that women did
not have equal rights as men, until earlier in the 20th century, some would dress as men to achieve
higher political status or to get a better job. Gay women would cross dress just because it made them
feel more comfortable. Homosexuality was not an uncommon thing in the 19th century. It was normal
for members of the same sex to show affection to each other, and even sleep in the same bed. When
people would come out as homosexual; doctors automatically presumed they were mentally unstable
and they were put in an asylum. Doctors continued to say homosexuality was an illness until the
1970s. For about twenty years after the end of the 19th century, women, homosexuals, and African
Americans all struggled for their rights. Everything changed when the roaring twenties emerged.
In 1920, women finally were granted the right to vote with the passing of the nineteenth amendment.
This caused women to start rebelling against ladylike things that were considered normal behavior,

Teamwork Is Essential For Business Success
Introduction: Teams: A group whose individual efforts result in a performance that is greater than the
sum of individual efforts (Loura ,lecture slides). The team has joint, specific collective work products
such as experiments, reports, products, etc. An example can be your course work based on a team
based project (David Knights, Hugh Willmott, 2007, p.120).The question arise is that is teams are
important to the organisations; the answer is yes; because organisations are much more likely to
perform well when their people work effectively as a team. This is because a good team creates unity
where the together effect of the team is greater than the sum of the individual efforts. In addition to
that working together in a team can apply individual perspectives, experiences, and skills to solve
complex problems and also creating new solutions and ideas that may be beyond the scope of any one
individual. Teamwork is essential for business success: The adoption of teams has become essential to
successful organizations of different kinds and sizes.Teams advantage associations by consolidating
individuals who can accomplish objectives speedier and more viably through coordinated effort than
can people working alone. In 1999, almost 50% of all U.S. associations utilized teams, and now days
they are ordinary in businesses going from car assembling to human services and money related

The profitability is not high, but at least, the fixed costs will be paid and maybe some profitability will
be achieved.
Opportunity Costs are used to measure the costs of the resources. They can be defined as the cost of an
alternative that must be forgone in order to pursue a certain action, or the benefits received by taking
an alternative action, or, still, the difference in return between a chosen investment and one that was
passed up. As example, the benefit of studying a MBA and spending money on it or save the money
for future expenses, or better saying, using the money to pay expenses in daily basis.
Conclusion
Various terms are used to describe costs. Having an understanding of these terms will provide a better
insight to managers and companies on making budget decisions, efficiently. Not only the ones
described above should be considered, but also all types of costs related to the decision in effect.
Efficient managers will considered all aspects related to the analyses in question.

information from the client. For example, What are your expectations? and Would you be satisfied
with your grades if your parents do not pressure you? I also used encouragers such as head nods and
repetition of key words stated by the client. I also summarized her story several times to clarify with
the client that I was hearing her correctly. I felt that she was motivated to elaborate (Ivey Ivey, 2007,
pg 231). I also used some observation skills such as observing the client s verbal and non verbal
behaviours, e.g. her voice tone, eye contact and the way she was sitting at certain point in the session.
While I listened to the tape, I realized that I had empathized and reflected on the client s feelings a few
times and this was done later in the interview. Not reflecting empathy earlier led the client to think that
I did not understand her situation. Also, I imposed my values on the client by telling her that eighty
percent is good even though she clearly stated that it is really bad for her. I thought this would have
made her feel better but it did not. If I were to meet this client again for the same issue I would reflect

Comparing The Searchers And Touch Of Evil
Despite the numerous differences between The Searchers (1956) and Touch of Evil (1958) the
overarching themes and character similarities of the films define them as comparable. Both were
created at the beginning of a phase which saw a great shift of cinematic themes within the industry.
While these themes were changing rapidly in the late 1950s, cinematic techniques were at times
innovative and at times adherent to classical traditions. This essay contextualises these films and
illustrates the differences and similarities in style and content.
Prior to WWII, most films centered on conventional protagonists men and women who had
discernable motives and where everything was black or white. After the war a new set of viewer ideals
were established and Hollywood responded with the anti hero; characters whose actions were
sometimes questionable. In the later half of the 1950s, with the expansion of independent movie
houses, there was a dramatic shift in subject matter. Movies introduced the more taboo themes of sex,
drugs and race. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Love And Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130
Shakespeare wrote many sonnets about love, largely in a traditional sense. However, his 130th sonnet
takes a different theme: a relationship that is found through true friendship and love despite physical
beauty standards. Shakespeare uses contrasting values, natural and divine imagery and contradictory
statements to show that love is much more than just physical attraction.
Sonnet #130 is filled with nature imagery: Shakespeare mentions the sun, coral, snow and roses, all
things that are largely deemed beautiful by society both then and now. In these images, he paints the
idea of what a beautiful woman should look like, how the woman he thinks of loving looks like she s
from a fairy tale. The nature images are described as being absent from the woman Shakespeare loves,
rather than being given an opposite, implying that the woman he loves is by no means someone he
cannot love or look upon. Though many interperet the mistress of this sonnet to be an ugly woman due
to some other lines of the poem, this absence of an opposite seems to suggest otherwise: she is not an
ethereal beauty, simply a normal, plain looking woman who the sonnet s speaker loves despite how
she may look.
Shakespeare uses more imagery in this sonnet than just things found in nature. Though there are only
two instances of it, he also uses imagery of the divine. It occurs once in the last quatrain ( I grant I
never saw a goddess go ), and once in the poem s final couplet ( And yet, by heaven, I think my

Winter At Valley Forge Analysis
Decision for Valley Forge
In Winter at Valley Forge, 1777 1778, I made a choice that I wouldn t be able to change afterwards. I
thought that Paris is more excited for the revolution than all of the United States together. That is not a
good thing. Valley Forge was only 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. This is where we will watch the
British. I have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are because the army needs more soldiers,
the conditions at camp, and what would be life back at home.
My whole family took part of Boston Tea Party in 1773 without me. This leads to the Declaration of

I liked how things are already I thought as I was getting ready for bed to think about re enlisting. Paine
153 says Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right but TO BIND
us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER, and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not
such a thing as slavery upon Earth. If we don t win this war, our lives are going to be full with
expensive government that rule without pity. Tyranny, is like Hell, is not easily conquered , yet we
have this consolation with us, also said by Paine 153. You re worried about your aging mom and you
miss you friends and family. If you quit and go back home, you get to live with taxes, tyranny, and
fear. You and everyone you care about will be under this life. Far off, possibly unlikely, there is
victory. The reason victory seems far, is because there are few soldiers that are fighting. I want to fight
to make victory closer. This reason is pushing me to re enlist because of what life would be back

Gymnastics Is A Competitive Sport
According to Oxford Dictionaries, the formal definition of gymnastics is
Exercises developing or displaying physical agility and coordination. The modern sport of gymnastics
typically involves exercises on uneven bars, balance beam, floor, and vaulting horse for women, and
horizontal and parallel bars, rings, floor, and pommel horse for men.
Gymnastics is a competitive sport in which gymnasts perform acrobatic feats such as leaps, flips,
turns, handstands and choreographed routines. These acrobatics are performed on a piece of apparatus
such as a balance beam, horizontal bars, parallel bars, floor, uneven bars, vault horse and horse with
pommels.

It is also the oldest form of gymnastics, dating back to the very early Olympic Games in Greece. Men
compete both individually and as a team in six apparatuses: Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault,
Parallel Bars and High Bar. Some of the highest flying stunts and amazing displays of strength are
performed by Male gymnasts.
Rhythmic gymnastics:
Rhythmic gymnastics is currently exclusive to women in the Olympic Games. Women compete both
individually and as a team using five different approaches including: Rope, Hoop, ball, Clubs and
Ribbon. These gymnasts often display incredible flexibility, coordination and grace.
Trampoline
Trampoline is only a very recent division of gymnastics to be added in the Olympic Games in 2000.
Both men and women are allowed to participate in the division. The routines and stunts performed on
the Trampoline use a double mini trampoline and in a synchronised event where 2 athletes perform at
the same time on 2 different trampolines. The trampoline is significantly more light and bouncy than a
standard gymnasts floor used in artistic gymnastics so the gymnasts may perform gravity defying
flips.
Power tumbling
Power tumbling is performed on a spring runway that is far more bouncier than a standard artistic
gymnastics floor which allows the gymnasts to perform complicated and difficult tricks with success.
Power tumbling has not yet been recognised as an Olympic event. Although, it is competed by
gymnasts in the

Racial Disparity In Law Enforcement
Race is used by law enforcement as a determinate of one s potential criminality, therefore disregarding
one s behavior, but rather judging by ethnic or racial appearance. One s race is at constant
discrimination and without reforms to policy, minorities will remain targets for law enforcement and
society around the world and the United States. The reduction of biased law enforcement will
minimize racial profiling within the prison population, as well as at a state and local level. According
to figure one a special estimation was used to identify a racial composition of drivers and was applied
to traffic stop data in ninety two Missouri municipalities. The estimation was conducted as a
navigation to better understand racial disparity in traffic

Priming Is Manipulating A Faster Response For A Target Word
A multiplicity of stimuli is continuously assaulting our senses of which some are pertinent to the
current task and some which are irrelevant. Xxxxxx suggest because of this bombardment, goal
directed behaviour needs a great degree of choosiness when processing information. According to
Deutsch and Deutsch (1963) understanding the mechanisms used in the multifaceted processes of
selecting, analysing and processing incoming stimuli along with the limitations underlying these
processes it is not a fully understood area. (GULAN and VALERJEV 2010). Priming is manipulating a
faster response to a target word by the presentation of a semantically related word. Bodner Mason,

Friedrich, Henik Tzelgov, 1991. An amount of findings have provided supporting evidence that the
stimuli can be processed outside of conscious awareness (Merikle, Smilek Eastwood, 2001). Studies
by Jalal and Amir (2014) and Henik and Tzelgov (1991) have shown an insight into the automatic
processes believed to occur during priming that do not rely upon conscious perception. Merikle et al
2001 suggest that regardless of whether objective or subjective measures of assessing have been used
there is evidence perception occurs without conscious awareness. They also argue not only is
perception without awareness possible but that qualitative differences in processing and performances
is also possible with or without awareness
Cognitive processing can be been known to be influenced by words of different valance (positive/
negative / neutral). Sass, Krach, Sachs, Kircher (2012) investigated the influence valanced words had
on semantic priming with special interest in the neural correlates of indirect priming. Their 2012 study
of sixteen participants examining the neural correlates found positive and neutral information
activated similar network areas within the brain however; negative stimuli inhibited the spread of the
activation. Sass et al (2012) study also found the processing of positive and neutral types of
information was less cognitively demanding than negatively affective information, Rossell and Nobre
(2004) produced

Imperialism In Frantz Fanon s The Wretched Of The Earth
In his book Culture and Imperialism, Edward Said articulates on the hybrid nature of postcolonial
identities:
No one today is purely one thing. Labels like Indian, or woman, or Muslim, or American are not more
than starting points, which if followed into actual experience for only a moment are quickly left
behind. Imperialism consolidated the mixture of cultures and identities on a global scale. But its worst
and most paradoxical gift was to allow people to believe that they were only, mainly, exclusively,
white, or Black, or Western, or Oriental (Said 336).
Colonialism constructed a sense of hybridity among the colonized and the colonizers reflecting that
homogeneity is nonexistent in post colonial societies; yet, homogeneity ... Show more content on

Sartre s and Fanon s concept of nervous conditions as experienced by the native intellectual in the
analysis of the two protagonists, Mustafa and the unnamed narrator, in Tayeb Salih s Season of
Migration to the North. In 1899, British and Egyptian forces invaded Sudan, bringing it under their

the 1960s, a significant and tumultuous time in Sudan s history that continues to be haunted by the
horrors of British colonization. The novel begins with the return of an unnamed narrator from Europe
to the small village at the bend of the Nile (Salih 33) in his native Sudan after three years of pursuing
English education. Upon his arrival, he recognizes a newcomer to the village, Mustafa, who had come
here five years ago, had bought himself a farm, built a house and married Mahmoud s daughter (Salih

Effects Of Pre Harvest Factors On The Final Quality Of A...
Effects of Pre harvest Factors
Pre harvest factors can influence the final quality of a product including papaya. Post harvest product
qualities develop during growing of the product and are maintained and not improved by post harvest
technologies (Hewett, 2006). Depending on the cultivar, maturity, climate, soil type and fertility, the
nutritional composition of a fruit at harvest can vary widely. For example Banana and papayas
increase in carotenoid content with maturation and ripeness, but the ascorbic acid content decrease in
bananas and increase in papayas during ripening (Lee, 2000).Even within a cultivar, there is a large
plant to plant variation and within plant variation in nutrient composition of fruit harvested from the
same field (Shewfelt, 1990).
Water availability, sunlight, fertilization and chemical applications are some of the pre harvest factors
which not only affect crop growth but also internal quality characteristics of the harvested product,
including flavor. Pre harvest treatment with aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) suppressed volatile
production in pears by 50% and heavy rains prior to harvest dilute flavor compounds in tomato
(Romani R, 1983).
Effects of Harvest Maturity
Maturity is among the critical factors influencing the abundance of volatile compounds in papaya
fruit. To optimize volatile content for flavor, papaya fruits should be harvested at an optimal eating
quality as opposed to immature papaya fruits which are often harvested in order to

Comparing The Once And Future King
Written by T. H. White, The Once and Future King tells the life of King Arthur. In four books, T. H.
White chronicles the rise and fall of King Arthur. The Sword and the Stone, the first book of The Once
and Future King, details what King Arthur learned as a child when he was not known to be the next
King of England under the influence of his pacifistic tutor Merlyn. He learns that being fair and just is
better than power and tyranny. In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness, King Arthur is
guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to create the Round Table
, where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using their power for good, not
tyranny. In the third book, The Ill Made Knight, King Arthur tries to keep his Round Table from
splitting, all the while his wife, Guenever, and his best knight and friend, Lancelot, are rumoured to be
having an affair. In The Candle in the Wind, the last book, King Arthur creates laws and uses trials,
juries, and evidence to instil justice as his last attempt to create a perfect society. Throughout his life,
King Arthur is seen as benevolent, brave, chivalrous, open minded, progressive, determined,
optimistic, and faithful. King Arthur s traits portray him positively, but he is not perfect and his flaws
can sometimes portray him negatively. King Arthur was told he would be a squire for his brother, Kay,
who would be knighted. Arthur did not know who his biological parents were,

American Sign Language And Deafness Essay
American Sign Language and Deafness in American Culture Deafness has been an obstacle thousands
of people have had to overcome since the dawn of time. Even in the not so distant past, the future was
typically very bleak for individuals who were born or became deaf. However, the future of an
individual who is Deaf has become much brighter due to the development of American Sign
Language. As the name describes, this language relies solely on visible movements and facial
expressions with no auditory expression needed.
American Sign Language, often abbreviated ASL, is as complex and complete as any vocal language
and is complete with its own sentence structure pattern. ASL is often the language of choice for deaf
individuals living in the United States. As reported by the National Census of the Deaf Population,
there are nearly half a million people who use sign language as their predominant language. The
majority of deaf people were originally born hearing. Although people can be born deaf, many become
deaf due to an accident, illness, or old age. A deaf individual can sometimes continue through life
relying solely on an auditory language with the help of hearing aids and other assistance. However,
when students learn ASL they also discover the deaf community and the rich vibrant culture that
accompanies it. Many communities with large percentages of deaf individuals have very close deaf
communities where all the individuals know each other and can meet up

  • 2. The Great Barrier Reef Has Lived Off Of The Southern Coast... For over 25 million years, the Great Barrier Reef has lived off of the northeastern coast of Australia. The first human civilizations started around 5,000 years ago and industrialization of humans about 200 years ago (History of Humans, 2016). The human race s timeline is just a small fraction in comparison to the reefs, but somehow humanity has managed completely derail mother nature in an incomprehensible amount of ways. Healthwise, the Great Barrier Reef is in the worst shape of its life and which just so happens to match ever so nicely with the rapid pandemic of global warming that has increased over the past couple of decades. The rise in air temperature is gradually increasing the ocean s temperature as well which is causing colossal damage to Great Barrier Reef and reefs across the globe. If we do not take action immediately in reducing our planet s rising temperature and ever increasing CO2, it will soon be too late to save this natural wonder as well as the countless organism that call it home. Besides being a spectacle to look at, coral reefs are also one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. In addition to ⅓ of all fish (not just species) spend at least a portion of their lives on a reef, they are also home to mollusks, sponges, turtles, and a plethora of different species of coral (Basic Facts, 2014). Coral reefs also can protect coastlines from wave erosion and also help support fisherman that depend on the reef as their livelihood. Contrary to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Strasburg s Savior Analysis The perceived Savior of the Washington Nationals has finally become what everyone expected him to be coming out of San Diego State in 2010. It made be a slight shock to people that he ranks this high because of his injury history. However, the reality is he s having a breakout season and should be recognized for his historic work in 2016 and overall he s been pretty darn good throughout his career. A big reason for Strasburg s success in 2016 I believe is the new leadership in the Nationals dugout. Manager Dusty Baker has brought a calming influence to everybody, including Strasburg telling him to smile more and enjoy going to the mound every fifth day. I think he s taken that to heart he has a 13 1 record with a 2.83 ERA thus far in 2016. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Infant Caregiver Attachment The essence of attachment to a developing infant cannot be overstated. It is at the heart of healthy child development. Also, it lays a foundation when it comes to relating with others. It plays a crucial role in influencing the parent s ability to nurture and to be responsive to their children. The effects of attachment to the developing infant are long term. Bowlby, the developer of the theory of infant caregiver attachment, attachment security determines the infant s preferential desire for contact with his or her caregiver (Levine, 23). The child uses the caregiver as a secure base from which to explore the environment. When infants develop securely attached relationships to their caregivers, they will have positive behaviours in the future. They also tend to show resiliency to new environments. Attachment to the developing infant plays a crucial role in regulating stress in times of illness, anxiety and distress. Infants develop different kinds of attachment relationships. For instance, some infants can become securely attached to the parent while others find themselves in an insecure attachment relationship. The differences are determined by the social environment during the first few years of life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Diesel vs Gas Essay Gasoline vs. Diesel You re in the market for a new truck; you have an idea about what you want but not quite sure if you want a gasoline or a diesel engine. Well, gas and diesel engines are very similar yet different in quite a few ways. At first glance, someone who doesn t know much about either of the two engines might ask, What s the difference? To the untrained eye they might look exactly alike, but don t judge the engine by its exterior look. Gas engines are mainly used by the individual in personal vehicles whereas diesels are very popular in the commercial and industrial fields. Diesel engines are used by the navy in their ships and by the army in their tanks and big trucks. Some of the main reasons for choosing this engine are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The continuing rotation of the crankshaft drives the piston back up, ready for the next cycle. The piston moves in a reciprocating motion, which is converted into circular motion of the crankshaft, which ultimately propels the car. Gas engines usually have about the same about of horsepower as they do torque. The diesel engine usually has twice as much torque as it does horsepower, thus it is the better hill climber and load carrier. As you might have noticed, diesel engines have a harder time starting in cold weather compared to gas engines due to the fact that gas engines have an electrical started system. Gas engines rely on fuel, air and spark to ignite whereas diesel engines rely on heat and compression to initiate spontaneous combustion. Some of the more obvious differences are the prices for fuel. As of now, March 2011, the price for diesel is significantly higher than gas. Gas is approaching the range of $3.40 per gallon to $3.70 per gallon (depending on what part of the country you re in, it could be higher than that). Diesel, on the other hand, is nearing $4.00 per gallon and quickly rising. I remember 7 or 8 years ago when diesel was cheaper than gas, and gas was just above $1.00 per gallon. Overall, I would say the diesel engine is the better of the two. Of course it all depends on the usage and perhaps the price of the vehicle but overall the diesel engine is more rugged and reliable, long lasting, stronger, more efficient and requires less ... Caucasian teachers at Heart Mountain quickly cycled through because of poor government handling of the school. Consequently, Japanese American teachers were not paid as well as their Caucasian counterparts (58 60). Secondly, many internees had jobs, though their pay was low. Money made at these jobs could be used to buy essentials in camp stores (Bent). The third difference was food quality. At first, the food was terrible at Heart Mountain. However, it improved and it was discovered people working in administration had stolen food intended for internees (Bent). Finally, the government considered internees for the draft. Officials devised two questions to determine their eligibility: (1) if they were willing to renounce loyalty to the Japanese emperor and (2) if they were loyal to the U.S. Many people answered no to these questions due to their resentment of getting their rights ... More so than ever before, students and faculty must be extremely careful over their words and actions because of the recent trend of protecting students from anything that can offend them or cause them discomfort. The young men and women who are currently attending these institutes of higher learning will be the next generation of leaders in real world politics and business and will be forced to deal with difficult people, opposing views, and uncomfortable ideas on a regular basis. Tocqueville focuses heavily on equality, and at one point he connects equality to the principal source of beliefs: I see two very clear tendencies in equality: one impels each individual towards new ways of thinking, while the other would induce him to give up thinking voluntarily (Tocqueville 492). Tocqueville would not be surprised to see what is happening at institutes of higher learning today, since it is basically the shift in weight from the former to the latter. While these students could talk to people who have different ideas in order to gain new perspectives or strengthen their own, they instead choose to retreat into spaces where they can take comfort by avoiding uncomfortable topics and protecting their own beliefs. A passage from Judith Shulevitz s New York Time article In College and Hiding from Scary Ideas gives an effective example of the modern problem: At one point [a student and sexual assault victim named Emma Hall] went to the lecture hall... but after a while, she had to return to the safe space. I was feeling bombarded by a lot of viewpoints that really go against my dearly and closely held beliefs, Ms. Hall said (Shulevitz 2). Instead of facing the painful situation and ideas that conflicted her own, she returned to a space where no one would challenge her opinions or make her think of distressing memories. Correspondingly, Tocqueville makes the remark in Democracy in America that One of the distinctive characteristics of democratic centuries is a taste for easy successes and instant gratification. This can be seen in intellectual pursuits as well as other areas of life (498). In other words, people in America sometimes fail to see the big picture they tend to favor ... • 12. Essay on The Continuing Mystery of SIDS The Continuing Mystery of SIDS Sudden infant death syndrome ( SIDS) is the greatest cause of infant deaths ranging from ages one month to one year. Most of these deaths occur before the age of six months. Normally, any unexplainable infant death is considered to be due to SIDS. Numerous attempts have been made to discover the exact cause of this syndrome. However, the only known pathology is that SIDS is due to a dysfunction or abnormality in the cardiac and/or respiratory systems. To this point, an exact and definite cause has not been named. This paper will attempt to present several of the proposed and hypothesized causes of SIDS. First of all, it is necessary to understand some of the important features of this syndrome (Naeye, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Possible post mortem characteristics of SIDS victims have been found to be normal in comparison with post mortem non SIDS infants of the same age. Furthermore, no abnormalities in the growth and morphology of the lungs and hearts of SIDS infants have been found. Therefore, in more recent years, research has shifted from the actual death and autopsy findings to chronic abnormalities found within these infants prior to death. The list of proposed chronic abnormalities is lengthy. To this date, research has confirmed the following: 1) SIDS is due to a dysfunction of the cardiac and/or respiratory systems, and 2) the death of the infant is due to hypo ventilation of the lungs and periods of complete cessation of breathing or apnea. Hypo ventilation and apnea cause hypo perfusion of the tissues with necessary oxygen. Ischemia of tissues results and eventually causes death. Research now centers around discovering the cause of infant hypo ventilation and apnea. Hypothesized causes of SIDS generally have fallen into three basic categories: 1) causes related to the respiratory system; 2) causes related to the cardiac and circulatory system; and 3) causes related to levels of various circulating substances (enzymes, neurotransmitters, viruses) within the body First of all, most SIDS research has been focused upon the neuronal control of the respiratory system. Additionally, two jurors play a game of tic tac toe, treating the defendant s life like a game. They trust the circumstantial evidence because it confirms their bigoted attitudes. For instance, the sixth juror believes that the boy is a murderer because of his low socioeconomic background and they all assume that the boy is guilty because of the witnesses testimonies. All these events display the ways in which each character participates in political life and exercises their opinion and views on politics. What Does The Tyger Mean An Analysis of William Blake s The Tyger William Blake is known for two collections of poems, those collections are Songs of Innocence (1789) and it was added onto with Songs of Experience (1794). It is from those collections that he draws out his innermost thoughts on life often looking at a being of God or the very human existence. In his poem The Tyger he used numerous literary devices that center on divine creation ultimately putting beauty and destruction hand in hand, it does this through the lens of a Romantic Era poet. To first understand the poem by Blake it must first be dissected. The first stanza had a set of word choice that gave a question that was expanded upon by each stanza following the first. This question was: What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy fearful symmetry? (lines 3 4). It is from that moment that the poem eludes to a being above through the use of the word immortal , and considering the others works done by Blake it can be assured that this being that is eluded to as a crafter is God. The word choice gave way to another intriguing piece of evidence for Romanticism and that was the use of the words fearful and symmetry together. Symmetry in art forms beauty. Using Video Games in the Classroom Video Games could be used in the classroom for a wide variety of different subjects, ranging from math, to science, to english and even in foreign language classes as many games that are made in different countries are in that country s own language. Of Course games are almost always translated into different languages so that people worldwide could play them but a foreign language teacher wouldn t find it too difficult to get ahold of a copy of a game in a foreign language. Music classes such as band or choir could even use video games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band to teach their classes about different types of music and different artists and to involve students more in playing music and singing, this could even lead to some students entering a career in the world of music. A Science class could use the wonderfully challenging puzzle game Portal to teach students about physics, momentum and other gravity based mechanics. There are many different ways that video games could be used in the classroom, schools just need to figure out the best ways to implement them and make it work. There are quite a few benefits to using video games in education, one big one being students would be way more excited about learning through video games rather than through the standard way lessons are taught in most schools today. If students are actually looking forward to a lesson than their performance on the assignment is going to be greatly increased, students will actually want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Constitution And The Texas Constitution A constitution is an accumulation of principles and rules that establishes the character of a government. Additionally, by showing the authority each part of the government holds, it is describing the organization and regulation of the government and how a society must conform. The Texas constitution has been reformed on multiple occasions and is troublesome to amend due to it being highly restrictive and detailed. The process on how to amend the Texas constitution, the attempts and failure of the constitutional reform in the 1970 s and why Texas should adopt an easily accessible and flexible constitution are the primary focal points that will be addressed throughout this essay. Texas, amongst many of the state constitutions, has had a great deal of proposals to amend the state constitution. Reminiscing back to 1876 when the Texas constitution was adopted, there have been six hundred and sixty six prospective proposals to amending the constitution. However, of the six hundred and sixty six proposals, four hundred and eighty four have been ratified leaving the remaining few defeated by the Texas voters. Furthermore amending the Texas constitution, according to Article 17 of the Texas constitution involves applying a two step process. The process starts off by obtaining a two thirds vote from each house in the legislature and a majority vote by the voters. The two thirds vote consists of having one hundred members from the House of Representatives and twenty one from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Operating Lease, Building, Machinery, And Construction Lease Businesses own fixed assets (such as plant, building, machinery etc). But, for a business, it is the use of fixed assets that is important, not the ownership. A business can raise capital through debt or equity and purchase the fixed assets. Alternative way of using the fixed asset is by leasing them. Leasing allows a firm to use an asset even though firm does not have capital to buy the asset. In a lease transaction, there are two parties: 1. Lessee: The user of the leased assets 2. Lessor: The owner of the assets. Leases can be broadly classified into two categories: Operating lease and Financial lease Operating Lease In operating lease, the fundamental rights and responsibilities of ownership are retained by the lessor. The lessor transfers only the right to use the property to the lessee. At the end of the lease period, the lessee returns the property to the lessor. The lessee does not assume any risk of ownership. Thus, operating lease does not affect the balance sheet. The lease expenses are treated as operating expenses in income statement. In operating lease, usually lessor maintains the property. The cost of maintenance is built into the lease payment. Generally the lease contract is written for a period much shorter than the expected useful life of the asset. The lease contract generally contains cancellation clause that gives the lessee right to cancel the lease before lease expiry. The lease payment on operating lease can be structured in two ... The immigrants from Ireland were not unfamiliar with this trend in American history. More often than not, the Irish immigrants were met with adversity from the native Bostonians. The Puritan citizens of Boston often looked those that actually expressed their religious, papist beliefs in public with suspicion and fear. These Puritans continued to regard Catholicism as both a subversive political menace as well as a fearsome religious heresy. This, considering the fact that those same Puritans and Protestants came to the Colonies in search of religious freedom, was quite bold on their parts. For example, many Roman Catholics were excluded from liberties and rights that other citizens had. They were often placed under unusually severe limitations on their everyday life especially on those actions where religious believes played and important role. Following the Revolutionary War, some tolerance for Catholics was present there was a sufficient atmosphere of forbearance in Boston to accommodate the handful of Roman Catholics who had now begun to practice heir religion openly. This new found tolerance could not have come at better time. After the Revolutionary War, larger numbers of Irish immigrants were joining their friends and families in America. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner, there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonist in the book, whilst in the film this is not portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film adaptation. Service are an important part in the global economy. Services are now apart of the GDP. There are four elements of services which are intangibility, inconsistency, inseparability, and inventory. Intangibility means it can not be touched, held, or seen before the purchase. These services help consumers to get information or show the benefits of their product. Inconsistency is developing, pricing, promoting, and delivering services is complicated because the quality of service is often inconsistent. Comparing The Searchers And Touch Of Evil Despite the numerous differences between The Searchers (1956) and Touch of Evil (1958) the overarching themes and character similarities of the films define them as comparable. Both were created at the beginning of a phase which saw a great shift of cinematic themes within the industry. Prior to WWII, most films centered on conventional protagonists men and women who had discernable motives and where everything was black or white. After the war a new set of viewer ideals were established and Hollywood responded with the anti hero; characters whose actions were sometimes questionable. The first stents that were licensed were made up of bare metal (316L stainless steel). The second generation of stents was composed of cobalt chromium alloy. There is another stent which called A drug eluting stent (DES) that involves a stent platform with the drug to help the patient prevent from having the abnormally narrowed arteries again. The stent platform is an expandable mesh like tube. The polymer coated on the stent has one to more than three layers and take the drug out. The outcome of the premature discontinuation of DAPT can increase the risk of stent thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and death. Bare metal stents (BMS) do not relate to blood clotting issues after stent implantation such as stent thrombosis. Therefore, it can be said that BMS do not need anti clotting therapies. On the contrary, drug eluting stents have been involved with late stent thrombosis. To prevent this issue, optimal conditions of several factors should be considered. Those factors can be stent position and expansion, the number of stents, stent size, stent design, patient and lesion, and premature discontinuation of antiplatelet medicines. • 37. Love And Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 Shakespeare wrote many sonnets about love, largely in a traditional sense. However, his 130th sonnet takes a different theme: a relationship that is found through true friendship and love despite physical beauty standards. Shakespeare uses contrasting values, natural and divine imagery and contradictory statements to show that love is much more than just physical attraction. Sonnet #130 is filled with nature imagery: Shakespeare mentions the sun, coral, snow and roses, all things that are largely deemed beautiful by society both then and now. In these images, he paints the idea of what a beautiful woman should look like, how the woman he thinks of loving looks like she s from a fairy tale. The nature images are described as being absent from the woman Shakespeare loves, rather than being given an opposite, implying that the woman he loves is by no means someone he cannot love or look upon. Though many interperet the mistress of this sonnet to be an ugly woman due to some other lines of the poem, this absence of an opposite seems to suggest otherwise: she is not an ethereal beauty, simply a normal, plain looking woman who the sonnet s speaker loves despite how she may look. Shakespeare uses more imagery in this sonnet than just things found in nature. Though there are only two instances of it, he also uses imagery of the divine. It occurs once in the last quatrain ( I grant I never saw a goddess go ), and once in the poem s final couplet ( And yet, by heaven, I think my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. April Morning by Howard Fast AP American History Period 7 August 8, 2011 April Morning by Howard Fast is a novel that takes place during the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775. The entire book takes place during a 24 hour time period. Adam Cooper is the antagonist in this novel. When Adam goes to bed on the eve of April 18, 1775 he is a boy. When he awakens the next morning he is forced to become a man. In the early hours of the morning he, along with the rest of the town, is awakened by a lone rider racing to Lexington to warn them that a British army, of maybe a thousand men, is marching their way. Immediately the town is in a frenzy to prepare for the British arrival. The book is about Adam s journey during the Battle of Lexington. Adam Cooper is just ... However, there is still the matter of Adam going to fight again and when Ruth asks Adam if he will sign the muster book he is torn between staying with his family and Ruth or going to war and fighting. As I read April Morning I found it very hard to stop reading. It is a fast moving book that goes through, in detail, each battle that Adam had to face in just 24 hours. I loved Adams character mostly because of his sarcasm in the beginning of the novel. I liked the fact that he did not really want to shoot and kill the Redcoats he just wanted them to leave. The book was cleverly written, and I admired Howard Fast for being able to write a book just about one day and still keeps it interesting the whole way through. I never found myself getting bored or tiered of reading it. I think it gives a great perspective on what the Battle of Lexington was like. It had everything a book, in my opinion, should have: love, hate, sorrow, terror, adventure, and action. I thought that Paris is more excited for the revolution than all of the United States together. That is not a good thing. Valley Forge was only 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. This is where we will watch the British. I have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are because the army needs more soldiers, the conditions at camp, and what would be life back at home. Imperialism In Frantz Fanon s The Wretched Of The Earth In his book Culture and Imperialism, Edward Said articulates on the hybrid nature of postcolonial identities: No one today is purely one thing. Labels like Indian, or woman, or Muslim, or American are not more than starting points, which if followed into actual experience for only a moment are quickly left behind. Imperialism consolidated the mixture of cultures and identities on a global scale. But its worst and most paradoxical gift was to allow people to believe that they were only, mainly, exclusively, white, or Black, or Western, or Oriental (Said 336). • 48. Effects Of Pre Harvest Factors On The Final Quality Of A... Effects of Pre harvest Factors Pre harvest factors can influence the final quality of a product including papaya. Post harvest product qualities develop during growing of the product and are maintained and not improved by post harvest technologies (Hewett, 2006). Depending on the cultivar, maturity, climate, soil type and fertility, the nutritional composition of a fruit at harvest can vary widely. For example Banana and papayas increase in carotenoid content with maturation and ripeness, but the ascorbic acid content decrease in bananas and increase in papayas during ripening (Lee, 2000).Even within a cultivar, there is a large plant to plant variation and within plant variation in nutrient composition of fruit harvested from the same field (Shewfelt, 1990). Water availability, sunlight, fertilization and chemical applications are some of the pre harvest factors which not only affect crop growth but also internal quality characteristics of the harvested product, including flavor. Pre harvest treatment with aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) suppressed volatile production in pears by 50% and heavy rains prior to harvest dilute flavor compounds in tomato (Romani R, 1983). Effects of Harvest Maturity Maturity is among the critical factors influencing the abundance of volatile compounds in papaya fruit. To optimize volatile content for flavor, papaya fruits should be harvested at an optimal eating quality as opposed to immature papaya fruits which are often harvested in order to ... American Sign Language And Deafness Essay American Sign Language and Deafness in American Culture Deafness has been an obstacle thousands of people have had to overcome since the dawn of time. Even in the not so distant past, the future was typically very bleak for individuals who were born or became deaf. However, the future of an individual who is Deaf has become much brighter due to the development of American Sign Language. As the name describes, this language relies solely on visible movements and facial expressions with no auditory expression needed. American Sign Language, often abbreviated ASL, is as complex and complete as any vocal language and is complete with its own sentence structure pattern. ASL is often the language of choice for deaf individuals living in the United States. As reported by the National Census of the Deaf Population, there are nearly half a million people who use sign language as their predominant language. The majority of deaf people were originally born hearing. Although people can be born deaf, many become deaf due to an accident, illness, or old age. A deaf individual can sometimes continue through life relying solely on an auditory language with the help of hearing aids and other assistance.
