Explosion Of Birth Order
You are connected to your family by more than just blood. The way you think and act is largely based
on the unnoticed bias your parents give during childhood. Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler was the
first to explore the ideas of birth order and how it affects personality due to family ordinance. Adler
was a world renowned psychiatrist and philosopher who formed the idea of individual psychology. He
was a colleague of Sigmund Freud and helped establish psychoanalysis, and was a founding member
of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society (Cherry). Associate professor in the psychology department at
the University of Redlands Catherine Salmon says, Adler s work led to an explosion of birth order
studies examining the relationships between birth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though, birth order illuminates a majority of our personality traits and decisions such as, career and
romantic relationships. Parents get wrapped up in the firstborn haze and overlook how much pressure
they put on older siblings. By creating a pressure to be the best and in control the older sibling takes
on the leadership role and often becomes more aligned with doing better in school than younger
siblings. Determination and intelligence correspond with higher level of career, and that is just what
the older sibling strives for. In fact, 100% of astronauts who ve gone into space were either eldest
children or eldest sons (State). Relationships work better if partners differ from each other and aren t
in the same birth order. The competition can be detrimental and problematic. Alfred Adler s birth order
theory provides us with useful information to reflect our decisions and explain how you think about
things. By becoming aware of it we can become more familiar with ourselves and get out of the all too

Doubt in Hamlet
Her death was doubtful. Analyse the theme of doubt in Hamlet.
In Shakespeare s play Hamlet, doubt is one of the most important themes. In fact, the whole play is
based on the story of a ghost who claims to be Hamlet s father, and nobody can be sure if what he says
is the truth. In this essay, I am going to focus on the theme of doubt throughout the play. I will first
speak about the opening scene, and then I will talk about the ghost, which is a supernatural element
used by Shakespeare to create doubt in the play. I will also analyse the passage in which Hamlet
declares his love to Ophelia. Finally, I will briefly discuss Hamlet s sanity.
What happens in the opening scene is very relevant and foreshadows the atmosphere of the whole ...

However, I think that at the end of the play we can be sure that Claudius was Hamlet s father s
murderer, but we cannot be sure about Hamlet s sanity at all; it remains one of the most important
doubts at the end of the play.
In conclusion, I would say that the whole play of Hamlet is founded on doubt. In fact, the main plot is
built on a doubtful accusation of a ghost, which is something that we cannot even be sure exists.
Moreover, doubt is present in different passages throughout the play, like in the opening scene. Doubt
is also present in Hamlet s speech, and Shakespeare manages to introduce the theme of doubt almost
everywhere in his play.

Christian Moral Vision Of Communication
4.4.3. Moral Vision of Communication
Christian moral vision of communication one is standing in the field of moral theology looking at the
horizon of communication. Accordingly, the focus of a Christian moral vision of communication is
twofold. It addresses the moral dimensions of communication practise and policy making within the
Church; and it addresses the ethical issues affecting human communications in general. That
communication is a basic human right and, as such, the Christian seeks to establish a pattern of
communication in which the free, creative expressions of the person is recognised, respected and
invited. It is recognition that every person is an active participant in building a culture. In this
instance, the Christian Churches

Normandy Operation Overlord Essay
Operation Overlord and the Normandy landings sparked the assault on Nazi Germany and were a
mandatory part in the Allied victory of World War 2. The operation consisted of capturing five beaches
in Normandy: Britain took Gold and Sword, U.S took Omaha and Utah, and Canada took Juno. Many
tasks were done before the invasion such as giving the Germans false information and the build up of
a military arsenal to fuel the invasion. The two most significant reasons that the Allies were successful
were the landings at Omaha Beach and the U.S and U.K paratroopers. In addition to this, tanks were
also a key factor as they could crush through enemy obstacles and buildings. As a result, these key
factors of Operation Overlord brought the Allies to victory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

General Windy and Major Howard and the 14,000 men of the U.S. 101st Airborne and the 82nd
Airborne Division s lead by Major Generals Ridgway and William C. Lee. Both divisions had a
general mission to hold their area to supply the troops coming from the five beaches as well as the rest
of the assault on Nazi Germany. Though in a more specific sense both divisions had other goals to
complete. The British had to hold both Pegasus and Ranville (river bridge to the right of Pegasus)
which would stop the Germans at Normandy from reinforcing and now they could use the bridges to
reinforce themselves. In addition to this, the British also had to destroy a gun battery near Pegasus so
the Sword Beach landings would be successful. On the other hand, the U.S had to hold Sainte mere
Eglise and complete their mission of capturing Cherbourg to create a port of supply for the Allies. As a
result, the airborne landings of both Pegasus and Sainte mere Eglise helped fuel the rest of the war and
allowed other beach attacks achieve

Thomas Paine s Common Sense Essay
In the work of Thomas Paine, Common Sense Paine mentions throughout of the working for a positive
government with the idea of equality. Thomas Paine writes different excerpt that give theories and
idea with the goal of implementing those ideas into a government that may be just and fair. Paine
reflects on the English constitution specifically the crown. Paine also provide an insight to having a
higher power to run a government. Paine also criticizes the idea of monarchy and hereditary
succession. Complications would ultimately arise through his ideas and theories due to the differences

Ultimately Thomas Paine criticized the English constitution to the fullest extent and how it is flawed
due to the power variations in government. In the previous paragraph, although Paine talked about the
flaws that come into play in a government that is run by a single ruler, he then talked about how
having a ruler may be inevitable and provides an example of how it may work. Though Paine doesn t
argue against having a ruler to the fullest extent due to the amount of oppressive that is seen through
having single rulers, he feels that there should be someone in charge but have equal power with other
parties, therefore that single person isn t in complete control. According to Paine, Let the assemblies
be annual, with a President only. The representation more equal. Their business wholly domestic, and
subject to the authority of a Continental Congress. This shows Paine s thinking on producing a
government with equality. In this example, there will be representation from all aspects and people, so
they can and will be part of the decision making as well as the President. Thomas Paine s theory on
creating a government with a higher power which is surrounded by equality can flourish due to the
elimination of oppression, tyranny, and abuse of power. Thomas Paine criticizes the idea of monarchy
and hereditary succession. Monarchy

Interpretation of the Balcony Scene by Baz Luhrmann and...
Interpretation of the Balcony Scene by Baz Luhrmann and Franco Zeffirelli of William Shakespreare s
Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a famous love story written by William Shakespeare. Two
interpretations were made of this text into a film by the two directors, Baz Luhrmann (1996) and
Franco Zeffirelli (1968). The films use different types of media to portray the characters and the
overall context of Shakespeare s play. I will be focusing on Act two Scene ii (the balcony scene)
where I will compare how the two directors use media in the films. In Baz Luhrmann s interpretation
of the film we are introduced to a modern scene which makes it easier for the audience to understand

It triggers off when Romeo bumps into the statues and smashes them on the floor which makes the
dogs bark and there is an addition of rustling leaves, these are some of the sound effects that have been
used, which builds up tension and causes more of a scene. In action to this, Romeo climbs up the wall
that leads to Juliet s balcony in order to get to her. The camera shot used is a close up of Romeo to
show his emotional distress that he is feeling. The statues in this scene represent Juliet as a goddess
and that she is very important, this is a key fact to remember in Romeo s eyes. This version is different
to the text as Juliet does not say her famous lines from the balcony, but comes down from her room to
the pool outside, where she recites her lines with passion thinking of her dear Romeo. In Zeffirelli s
account of the film, Romeo is shown down below in the bushes whereas Juliet is the higher and more
powerful person out of the two of them, and she is shown as the higher person sitting on the balcony.
Once again this has been showing the higher and lower and lower angle shots. It also shows a point of
view camera shot throughout this scene, meaning that the film would be played throughout the
character s eyes, as if Romeo or Juliet were filming it themselves. This is done a lot in

given people a look into the intricate works of the Kula. While no anthropologist is more right than the
other, one can see how two different ethnographers can give two very different analysis of one

functionalist while Wiener studies through a structural functionalist lens. Malinowski studies the
causes and affects of this Trobriand gifting on the individual, while Wiener gives the people a look

Compare And Contrast Nero And Tiberius
Nero and Tiberius both started off as great leaders of Rome. Throughout their leadership many events
occurred that caused the general publics view to change on both of them. Comparing Nero, the
careless leader to Tiberius, the leader with great accomplishments I found that they are complete
opposites. Analyzing the accomplishments, treatment of people, and the overall personality of Nero
and Tiberius it can be concluded that Tiberius is a better leader than Nero.
Nero and Tiberius were two leaders who were liked by the public. Both starting their reigns young,
Nero and Tiberius accomplished many things. Gaining the public s eye, Nero gave Claudius a lavish
funeral and personally delivered the oration in person. He founded a colony at Antium consisting of
praetorian veterans, he gave the public an immense variety of entertainments, and even introduced his
own style of architecture. These accomplishments all played a role in how the public adored him.
Giving the public positive ideas will gain their trust, but unfortunately, he does not keep their trust. As
Nero became older, his accomplishments became less and less, he began turning into someone who
was in it for the money. His turning point was when he bankrupted Rome, once this happened Nero
was neither trusted or liked.
First beginning his reign, Tiberius gradually showed his people that he was in charge. He would only
intervene when things were not done properly. Tiberius began to decrease the expenses of public

Persuasive Essay On Circumcision
Let s Talk About Penises! Once upon a time in a land not so far away, a bouncing baby boy was born.
His mother and father fawned over his features, from his bald little head to his tiny wrinkled feet.
After speaking on the perfection of the entirety his existence, they pass the baby boy off to a nurse
who brings him to a table where he is tied down and mutilated against his will with little to no
anesthesia. The doctor performing the operation will say, he will not even know it is happening, while
the baby screams his head off. After having a perfectly natural piece of his genitalia removed, he will
be returned to the arms of his parents. This is the reality for 58% (BabyCenter) of the 2 million or so
(NICHD) boys born in the United States every year. Circumcision is an unnecessary procedure that
violates the rights of boys. Circumcision is the surgical removal of foreskin, which is the skin
covering of the tip of the penis (MayoClinic). The foreskin serves several purposes to the penis,
including but not limited to: keeping moisture retained in the penis, protecting the penis from outside
bacteria and contributing to sexual pleasure. Circumcision is not a surgery that is exclusive to infants,
however, later in life circumcisions are uncommon. It is considered a low risk procedure, however
there are risks such as infections, excessive bleeding, both of which can and have lead to fatalities, as
well as reattachment requiring more surgery, or the failure of the penis to

Persuasive Essay On The Use Of Photosop
Photoshop has changed drastically through the ages since its first appearance in 1988. From editing
minimally to major creations with the talent and knowledge of how to. Today it is used in the making
of pictures with a sense of perfection. But how perfect is perfect? Many of today s photoshopped
pictures, especially fashion and beauty photos, give off the sense of unrealistic and false body
examples. Photoshopping on beauty and fashion images should be banned or at least controlled in a
way, for advertising unrealistic measures and putting that type of perfect on a single body.
While Photoshop is used to portray improbable standards, it can be used for many good things.
Photoshop helps get rid of unwanted blemishes and used for touch ups. Many photographers mainly
use photoshop for the finishing touches, making it their own creation. Although photoshop is deemed
evil, ...raising awareness about why it is bad to alter images in mainstream ads and media (especially
print) oversimplifies the problem, (Perle). Elizabeth Perle believes the problem with photoshop is that
it is being taken way too seriously and magnifying too big. Aside from that, she says that taking away
photoshop will put even more pressure on, ...models and performers who are still under an enormous
amount of pressure to go to enormous lengths to make their bodies look a certain way, (Perle). She
connects her statement with research stating that ...magazines and photoshop do not link to eating
disorders but to disordered eating, (Arnold). Disordered eating is a diet that is often confused with
eating disorders. Many people who use diets are unhappy with their body and are using a diet to
achieve the body they want. Whereas on the other hand, an eating disorder is intentionally not eating
and starving themselves to get their desired body.
Although photoshop may be misjudged, it still continues to send bad messages to society. For an
example, children. Children are like sponges, they absorb as much information as they can in one day
as possible, varying from learning academically and socially. Introducing a flawless photo and passing
it off as realistic standards set a bad precedent for children. Many young girls and women especially

The Access Of Equity Finance Through Crowdfunding
From almost the beginning, the idea of community and local based Slow Money ideals being served
through crowdfunding was acknowledged here in Southern California. Our Slow Money SoCal
founding members were working against a conservative legal backdrop and a sprawling suburbia that
made local investing and the community building it entails all the more difficult. In our early days,
while we measured the idea of crowdfinancing still serving the Slow Money Principles, we decided it
was a legitimate sounding of our regional voice. Today, the access to equity finance through
crowdfunding is just another opportunity to continue to serve ways to catalyze capital while exploring
the inherent tension between the virtual world and the visceral character of a place based investing.
We were broached by Kiva, the grandfather to all technology based crowdfinancing in 2013. Slow
Money SoCal had worked without much success, for an approach to local investment during its first
year and was ready to consider another way. Still reticent about the rules and regulations that served to
inhibit a local investing story, we chose to sign on as an early Kiva Trustee hoping to get our feet wet
as we continued to develop our more down to earth, place based approach. We endorsed our first Kiva
loan in March 2014.
In those early days of Slow Money SoCal, though some of us were comforted by the Kiva partnership
and its legal sanctions, some thought the partnership was a distraction. If we were busy doing

Catch Salmon Research Paper
How to Catch Salmon
How to catch salmon really boils down to two methods, trolling and mooching. Assuming you have
done the research, you know the runs are in progress, the newspapers indicate that fishing is good,
weather is OK (that is, not dangerous), you have questioned as many local fishermen as you can find,
have a boat ready to go, and all the necessary gear, then and only then it is time to wet the line.
The Night Before
Always prepare and get everything you will need the night before. Why the night before? Because you
will be getting up real early, like one to two hours before dawn, not sunrise, dawn. You are likely to
need this much time because it is critical to be on the fishing grounds at least 1/2 hour before dawn.

If you use bait you use the same method to attach the bait, but use a smaller 2 oz weight. The line is
slowly lowered down the water column and when it is at the correct depth, lock the reel and begin

not as stiff as trolling rods. The idea is to give the bait a quick up and down motion to attract the
salmon. Many fishermen like this method of salmon fishing because it requires no trolling engine, thus
things are quiet and peaceful. A buzzbomb lure or other artificial lures such as various spoons may

Dietary Habits Have Been Influenced And Changed Throughout...
Dietary habits have been influenced and changed throughout the years all over the world. Diets impact
one s health drastically, and could affect lives in the long run if not taken seriously. From observation
of those experimenting with different dietary habits, such as the cleanliness of going vegan or cutting
out the carnivorous acts of eating meat by going either vegetarian or piscatorial, they are
malnourishing and depriving themselves of the vitamins and proteins an all around diet such as a
paleo diet can provide. Health and Fitness magazines boasts about how much cleaner one s body can
be if they were to just stop consuming meat and ate only natural vegetables, are neglecting the danger
the person can be in if they began to involve themselves in intense physical activity. Society deserves
to know the true and false myths behind each type of diet such as vegan, vegetarian, paleo, and the
standard western diet. Although, web articles and books claim to have the best diet against all others,
their research and evidence are completely biased. There are tons of people becoming victim to these
publications telling everything they want to hear without telling both sides of each diet. This research
paper will investigate the true benefits and falls of each type of diet so that those brainwashed by
commercial advertising know the truth. In the lifestyle of many people around the world, eating meat
is one of the most unclean and unhealthy things to consume in our society.

Banning of Sugary Drinks
Should the government be able to tell us the amount of sugary drinks we consume? In the recent years
obesity has become a national problem. Because of obesity, the current generation of American
children might be having a shorter life than their parents. Children learn about acceptable behavior by
observing and copying their parents, in this case the healthy way they eat and drink. Existing factors
said that the ones responsible for a big change were sugary drinks causing us a drastic change in
health. Sodas for example are cheap, especially if you buy them on sale. That s one reason the obesity
rate is higher and more accessible to consume in low income families. To emphasize sugary drinks

Hydrogen Automobiles The effect of pollution that is emitted from vehicles is a serious concern in
today s society. The cause of this pollution is the toxic emissions from current vehicles. This toxic
emissions or pollution destroys the Earth s ozone layer or atmospheric gases Acknowledging these
facts, many are very concerned with the condition of the Earth s atmospheric gases in the future. In
just a very short time, scientists produced a new vehicle which only emits water out of its exhaust

Of coarse, as the name implies, this process involves the use of coal. One of the more popular methods
of attaining Hydrogen is electrolysis. This is process of which water is broken down into pure
hydrogen and pure oxygen. Elements other than hydrogen attained from the reaction are excess and
are emitted from the vehicle through the exhaust. This is why only water vapor is the only exhaustion
given off from hydrogen vehicles. Another commonly overlooked benefit of Hydrogen as a power
source is that it is a renewable energy source. Rather, it can be obtained from a renewable energy
sources with no increase in carbon dioxide emissions. Hydrogen acts like a carrier of energy rather
than a source of energy. It can be produced and consumed continuously. Using solar, electric, water,
wind and nuclear power to power electrolysis and other forms of attaining hydrogen. Although
Hydrogen may environmentally safe and renewable, Hydrogen as an energy source still has its
downfalls. Hydrogen has a low volumetric energy density
Traditional combustion engines can be converted to run on hydrogen. This involves the use of fuel
cells and electric motors instead of a traditional engine. Hydrogen reacts with oxygen inside fuel cells,
which makes electricity to power the motor. Fuel cells are very fragile and are very costly to produce.
Scientists are currently searching for more efficient and less costly methods of producing fuel cells.

Sustainability in general is ensuring that the resources needed for the future are preserved and do not
run out today. It has become clear that the infinite wants of the consumer in today s society has put a
strain on the worlds resources, this means scarcity has become a greater issue. Scarcity in general is
that there are not enough resources to meet the wants of consumers. As a result it has become more
important for businesses to come up with new methods of producing renewable energy and reducing
the amount of resources required in their production process. A way of measuring a business s
sustainability is how a firm conducts its triple bottom line. The triple bottom line consists of three
elements a business will have to face, these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being sustainable can be financially beneficial to a firm in regards to their costs. Decreased energy
consumption reduces a firms operating costs which increases the firm s share prices (Peloza Yachnin
2008). This shows that sustainable energy consumption can help firms to be more profitable as they
can reduce their day to day running costs. An example of this would be Marks and Spencer. Marks and
Spencer put into action a program called Plan A in order to improve their sustainability. This plan was
focused on making the business become more energy efficient and reducing their carbon footprint
through a variety of methods such as reducing Co2 emissions and reducing wastage in packaging.
Marks and Spencer s plan a report showed that their energy consumption for warehouses, stores and
offices increased in efficiency by 34% since putting plan A into action. The innovation and new ways
of doing things stimulated by Plan A was leading to savings of £50m p.a. (Grayson 2011). Firms are
always looking at ways to cut costs, therefore Marks and spencer have shown that being more
sustainable through being more energy efficient is important to businesses as it can help them to
accomplish this. Furthermore this will also help them to achieve what is likely to be one of their
corporate objectives, to maximise profit. With greater profit levels, the shareholders of the firm should
receive greater dividends, giving them greater satisfaction. As

Essay on The Decision to Drop the Atomic Bomb
Technology has allowed for the furtherance of warfare, from the invention of gun powder to the
splitting of the atom. These findings have propelled the leap of numerous nations in the ability to
wage war against each other. Of these discoveries, the splitting atom spawned an invention that would
hurl the world from conventional warfare into the nuclear age. These ideals were the brainstorming of
some of the greatest minds in America and abroad. These scientists began to formulate the creation of
the atomic bomb, a device that would change the world in ways that had never been imagined before.
The world changed the day that the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan. This evoked a cataclysmic

Truman s inner council was made up of high level government officials who included: The Secretary
of State , Secretary of War , Asst. Secretary of War , Secretary of the Navy , Admiral Leahy , General
Marshall , and all the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. With this conglomerate of mentors,
Truman sought the truth as well as the consequences with the decision to press ahead with this
operation. In a memorandum to President Truman from Secretary of War Henry Stimson in an eye
opening statement said; Within four months we shall in all probability have completed the most
terrible weapon ever known in human history, one bomb which could destroy a whole city. Did
Truman not have a heart, knowing those that would be caught up in the collateral damage of war
would be non combatants? Is it adventitious to think Truman would have entertained other venues of
peace with the delivery of such a statement? Not only did Secretary Stimson think that the proposed
dropping of the bomb was not within the moral arena of thought, others too voiced their opinions on
the subject to the President. General Groves Secretary of the Army painted a bleak picture that
predicted a desolate civilization to Truman in a statement he made. Atomic energy if controlled by the

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Character Analysis
Matthew Wong Novick English 12, p6 25 May, 2017 The Power Dynamic Between Opposite Ideals In
society, there are always people who exert control over others. The novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo
s Nest, by Ken Kesey, explores the power dynamic between an authoritarian figure and the people
who she controls. Throughout the novel, there is a nurse, known as Ratched, who rules a mental
institution using fear to control the patients until Randall McMurphy, someone without any clear or
obvious disability, arrives at the institution and disrupts Nurse Ratched s power. The following
suggests that Kesey uses imagery, symbolism and metaphor to show the power dynamic between
Nurse Ratched and the patients, and shows how the Combine is a microcosm of society. This will be
demonstrated through an analysis of Nurse Ratched s peak of control at the beginning, how her control
is disrupted when McMurphy arrives, and how by the end, she has little to no control over the patients.
At the start of the novel, Nurse Ratched s power, along with the influence of the Combine, are at their
peak. Nurse Ratched s control over the Ward is described as hum of black machinery, humming hate
and death and other hospital secrets (Kesey 10). Ratched rules the ward using fear, and as a result, no
patient in the institution is willing to stand up to her and demand changes to the system. Instead,
Ratched s influence over them is extreme enough to the point where she can get the patients to turn on

1984 Social Display Essay
The effect of social display In George Orwell s 1984, the whole society is under a distorted, extreme
condition. The Party sets telescreens everywhere to watch people and keep people do the right things
and have the right thoughts. People are forbidden to have privacy and they have to act in the expected
way. In modern time, people like to post their words and pictures on the social media. They are willing
to share their ideas, even if someone may criticize their behavior. The passive display and the active
display both have many effects on people. Some of the effects are same. Some effects are different. In
1984, the social display makes people feels suffocated and anxious. The Party watched everyone all
the time. According to Chapter I, Orwell said: It was even conceivable that they watched everybody

Lincoln s Sandford Peoria Speech Summary
Lincoln is one of the champions of human life and dignity. He is one of the presidents in the US.
Lincoln led the United States through its Civil War its bloodiest war and its greatest moral,
constitutional, and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened
the federal government, and modernized the economy.By the 1850s, slavery was still legal in the
southern United States, but had been generally outlawed in the northern states, including Illinois,
whose original 1818 Constitution forbade slavery, as required by the Northwest Ordinance. Lincoln
disapproved of slavery, and the spread of slavery to new U.S. territory in the west. On October 16,
1854, in his Peoria Speech , Lincoln declared his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sandford; Chief Justice Roger B. Taney opined that blacks were not citizens, and derived no rights
from the Constitution. Lincoln denounced the decision, alleging it was the product of a conspiracy of
Democrats to support the Slave Power. Lincoln argued that the authors of the Declaration of
Independence never intended to say all were equal in color, size, intellect, moral developments, or
social capacity , but they did consider all men created equal equal in certain inalienable rights, among
which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness .After the state Republican party convention
nominated him for the U.S. Senate in 1858, Lincoln delivered his House Divided Speech, drawing on
Mark 3:25. He said that ahouse divided against it couldn t stand. The speech created an evocative
image of the danger of disunion caused by the slavery debate, and rallied Republicans across the
North. The stage was then set for the campaign for statewide election of the Illinois legislature, which
would, in turn, select Lincoln or Douglas as its U.S. senator. On November 6, 1860, Lincoln was
elected the 16th president of the United States, beating Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, John C.
Breckinridge of the Southern Democrats, and John Bell of the new Constitutional Union Party. He was
the first president from the Republican Party. As Lincoln s election became evident, secessionists

South East Asian Crisis
INTRODUCTION
The South East Asian financial crisis was a period of financial crisis that gripped much of Asia
beginning in July 1997, and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial
contagion. The crisis started in Thailand with the financial collapse of the Thai Baht caused by the
decision of the Thai government to float the Baht, cutting its peg to the USD, after exhaustive efforts
to support it in the face of a severe financial overextension that was in part real estate driven. At the
time, Thailand had acquired a burden of foreign debt that made the country effectively bankrupt even
before the collapse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Western importers sought cheaper manufacturers and found them, indeed, in China whose currency
was depreciated relative to the dollar.
Lessons for the developing countries from the Asian crisis: 1. Need for great caution about Financial
liberalization and Globalization
One of the most important lessons from the Asian crisis is that it is prudent and necessary for
developing countries to have measures that reduce its exposure to the risks of globalization and thus
place limits on its degree of financial liberalizations. In a globalized world, developing countries often
face tremendous pressures coming from developed countries, international agencies, transnational and
national companies to completely open up their economies. It is proven that liberalization can and has
played a positive role development, however; the Asian crisis has shown up that in some
circumstances, liberalization can play havoc, especially on small and dependent economies. This is
more so prominent in the field of financial liberalization, where lifting of controls over capital flows
can lead to such extreme results as a country accumulating a mountain of foreign debts within a few
years, the sudden sharp depreciation of its currency, and a sudden rush of foreign owned and local
owned funds out of the country in a few months. So,
* Developing countries should exercise caution while

Explain What Natural Resources Were Highly Valued During...
Natural resources were highly valued during the era of imperialism. Natural market trade was a
popular source of income, and with this, natural resources were necessities. If a country did not have
enough natural resources on their own soil to make a decent share, they had to expand their territory
by taking over other lands. Being the holder of large territories of land was also highly valued during
this time. The more land a country had, the stronger and more powerful they viewed as. With
expansion and power came a need for a smart political system. In the period of 1880 to 1914,
Europeans acquistized African colonies because they were politically smart so they had justification
for this, they needed more natural resources, and they needed to expand of their territories. To begin, a
country could not be successful without an intelligent political system. With a smart political system
comes great responsibility. According to source ____, ____ utilized a right they had to expand into
new territories. It was smart of them to justify their work so that their back was covered. This
expansion into new territories gave them a duty, though. If they were going to expand into another
country s territory, they had a responsibility to the people of that land to care for and nurture them and

The Pros And Cons Of Foreign Aid
To Aid or Not to Aid
Foreign aid has played an enormous role in the United States government policy, especially since the
mid twentieth century, following World War II. At that time, the U.S. began providing financial aid,
through the Marshall Plan, to help rebuild Europe (Williams, 2015). Today, foreign aid has evolved to
mean a variety of things. Foreign aid is not strictly financial assistance. According to Williams in the
Encyclopedia Britannica (2015), foreign assistance can include military assistance or equipment,
medical assistance or equipment, or technical assistance and training. However, the most common
foreign aid is official development assistance, which is organized through international organizations
such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund or UNICEF and used to address poverty and
promote development (Williams 2015). Many people feel in the United States feel that it is necessary
to provide foreign assistance to the world. It is thought that helping less developed economies
improves the market for everyone. Others feel that many people are in need here in the United States
and that it does not make sense to send aid to other countries when people need right in their own city,
state, or country. Most people think that a large portion of the U.S. budget is devoted to foreign aid. In
contrast, according to Rutsch (2015), the U.S. spends less than 1 percent of the federal budget on
foreign aid . With the state of the world today,

Female Gothic As A Literary Era Of Gothic Literature
The term gothic serves as the ideal backdrop for a literary era of suspense, mystery, and terror. A
haunted mansion bursting with secrets, a naïve helpless heroine, and the male hero that saves the day
are all quintessentially gothic. When Ellen Moers first coined the term Female Gothic in her 1976
book, Literary Women, she defined it as the work that women writers have done in the literary mode
that, since the eighteenth century have been termed Gothic (Moers). Her argument that Female Gothic
literature is a code for women s fear of domestic entrapment, especially within their own bodies as
was mainly experienced in childbirth and motherhood, was quite influential. Anne Williams, in her
book The Art of Darkness: A Poetics of Gothic, argues that Female Gothic can be further dissected to
include its intention to criticize the patriarchy while educating and socializing its female readers with
an affirmation of absolute independence and strength. The Female Gothic is often pursued and
haunted by a villainous patriarchal figure, but finds salvation on her own accord and more importantly,
within herself. Another element of Female gothic is madness and monstrosity as an explanation for
why the female would deviate from the conventional norm. Gerald s Game, an adaptation of a Stephen
King novel by the same title, can be analyzed from the Female Gothic lens, suggesting that the gothic
literature mechanisms can also be applied to contemporary tales of female strength and

The Dangers of Drink Spiking
Drink spiking is rapidly becoming a serious issue in todays society, with almost 20% of adolescents
having had their drink tampered with, without their approval (Qld Gov, 2013). The effects and
ramifications associated with this crime are substantial. Therefore, it should become a priority to help
identify these culprits, and introduce solutions to prevent this from happening. Such solutions might
include drink covering strategies, safety suggestions and identification of tampered drinks. These
strategies will assist in the promotion of this problem, and the prevention of the spiking of drinks.
Drink spiking has become somewhat a recurring problem within our society today. The incidence of
drink spiking can lead to serious repercussions and ruin the lives of both the victim and bystander.
Drink spiking occurs when a person deliberately adds alcohol or drugs to a drink without the consent
of the drinker. This means that the individual could become incapacitated unexpectedly. Drinks are
spiked for a number of reasons including amusement or to facilitate sexual assault, rape and theft. The
side affects include feeling drunk or drowsy, mental confusion, hallucination, memory loss, nausea or
vomiting, seizures, loss of consciousness and a severe hangover when you have had little or no
alcohol to drink (H.Grimly, 2005). It should be a major priority to prevent this occurrence for the
benefit of our current and future generations. Drink spiking can happen anywhere, at any time.

  • 3. Explosion Of Birth Order You are connected to your family by more than just blood. The way you think and act is largely based on the unnoticed bias your parents give during childhood. Austrian psychiatrist Alfred Adler was the first to explore the ideas of birth order and how it affects personality due to family ordinance. Adler was a world renowned psychiatrist and philosopher who formed the idea of individual psychology. He was a colleague of Sigmund Freud and helped establish psychoanalysis, and was a founding member of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society (Cherry). Associate professor in the psychology department at the University of Redlands Catherine Salmon says, Adler s work led to an explosion of birth order studies examining the relationships between birth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though, birth order illuminates a majority of our personality traits and decisions such as, career and romantic relationships. Parents get wrapped up in the firstborn haze and overlook how much pressure they put on older siblings. By creating a pressure to be the best and in control the older sibling takes on the leadership role and often becomes more aligned with doing better in school than younger siblings. Determination and intelligence correspond with higher level of career, and that is just what the older sibling strives for. In fact, 100% of astronauts who ve gone into space were either eldest children or eldest sons (State). Relationships work better if partners differ from each other and aren t in the same birth order. The competition can be detrimental and problematic. Alfred Adler s birth order theory provides us with useful information to reflect our decisions and explain how you think about things. By becoming aware of it we can become more familiar with ourselves and get out of the all too familiar comfort ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Doubt in Hamlet Her death was doubtful. Analyse the theme of doubt in Hamlet. In Shakespeare s play Hamlet, doubt is one of the most important themes. In fact, the whole play is based on the story of a ghost who claims to be Hamlet s father, and nobody can be sure if what he says is the truth. In this essay, I am going to focus on the theme of doubt throughout the play. I will first speak about the opening scene, and then I will talk about the ghost, which is a supernatural element used by Shakespeare to create doubt in the play. I will also analyse the passage in which Hamlet declares his love to Ophelia. Finally, I will briefly discuss Hamlet s sanity. What happens in the opening scene is very relevant and foreshadows the atmosphere of the whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I think that at the end of the play we can be sure that Claudius was Hamlet s father s murderer, but we cannot be sure about Hamlet s sanity at all; it remains one of the most important doubts at the end of the play. In conclusion, I would say that the whole play of Hamlet is founded on doubt. In fact, the main plot is built on a doubtful accusation of a ghost, which is something that we cannot even be sure exists. Moreover, doubt is present in different passages throughout the play, like in the opening scene. Doubt is also present in Hamlet s speech, and Shakespeare manages to introduce the theme of doubt almost everywhere in his play. Moral Vision of Communication Christian moral vision of communication one is standing in the field of moral theology looking at the horizon of communication. Accordingly, the focus of a Christian moral vision of communication is twofold. It addresses the moral dimensions of communication practise and policy making within the Church; and it addresses the ethical issues affecting human communications in general. That communication is a basic human right and, as such, the Christian seeks to establish a pattern of communication in which the free, creative expressions of the person is recognised, respected and invited. • 6. Normandy Operation Overlord Essay Operation Overlord and the Normandy landings sparked the assault on Nazi Germany and were a mandatory part in the Allied victory of World War 2. The operation consisted of capturing five beaches in Normandy: Britain took Gold and Sword, U.S took Omaha and Utah, and Canada took Juno. Many tasks were done before the invasion such as giving the Germans false information and the build up of a military arsenal to fuel the invasion. The two most significant reasons that the Allies were successful were the landings at Omaha Beach and the U.S and U.K paratroopers. In addition to this, tanks were also a key factor as they could crush through enemy obstacles and buildings. As a result, these key factors of Operation Overlord brought the Allies to victory ... Overall, the landings were completed by the 6,000 men of the British 6th Division led by Major General Windy and Major Howard and the 14,000 men of the U.S. 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne Division s lead by Major Generals Ridgway and William C. Lee. Both divisions had a general mission to hold their area to supply the troops coming from the five beaches as well as the rest of the assault on Nazi Germany. Though in a more specific sense both divisions had other goals to complete. The British had to hold both Pegasus and Ranville (river bridge to the right of Pegasus) which would stop the Germans at Normandy from reinforcing and now they could use the bridges to reinforce themselves. In addition to this, the British also had to destroy a gun battery near Pegasus so the Sword Beach landings would be successful. On the other hand, the U.S had to hold Sainte mere Eglise and complete their mission of capturing Cherbourg to create a port of supply for the Allies. As a result, the airborne landings of both Pegasus and Sainte mere Eglise helped fuel the rest of the war and allowed other beach attacks achieve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ultimately Thomas Paine criticized the English constitution to the fullest extent and how it is flawed due to the power variations in government. In the previous paragraph, although Paine talked about the flaws that come into play in a government that is run by a single ruler, he then talked about how having a ruler may be inevitable and provides an example of how it may work. Though Paine doesn t argue against having a ruler to the fullest extent due to the amount of oppressive that is seen through having single rulers, he feels that there should be someone in charge but have equal power with other parties, therefore that single person isn t in complete control. According to Paine, Let the assemblies be annual, with a President only. The representation more equal. Their business wholly domestic, and subject to the authority of a Continental Congress. This shows Paine s thinking on producing a government with equality. In this example, there will be representation from all aspects and people, so they can and will be part of the decision making as well as the President. • 8. Interpretation of the Balcony Scene by Baz Luhrmann and... Interpretation of the Balcony Scene by Baz Luhrmann and Franco Zeffirelli of William Shakespreare s Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a famous love story written by William Shakespeare. Two interpretations were made of this text into a film by the two directors, Baz Luhrmann (1996) and Franco Zeffirelli (1968). The films use different types of media to portray the characters and the overall context of Shakespeare s play. I will be focusing on Act two Scene ii (the balcony scene) where I will compare how the two directors use media in the films. In Baz Luhrmann s interpretation of the film we are introduced to a modern scene which makes it easier for the audience to understand and comprehend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It triggers off when Romeo bumps into the statues and smashes them on the floor which makes the dogs bark and there is an addition of rustling leaves, these are some of the sound effects that have been used, which builds up tension and causes more of a scene. In action to this, Romeo climbs up the wall that leads to Juliet s balcony in order to get to her. The camera shot used is a close up of Romeo to show his emotional distress that he is feeling. The statues in this scene represent Juliet as a goddess and that she is very important, this is a key fact to remember in Romeo s eyes. This version is different to the text as Juliet does not say her famous lines from the balcony, but comes down from her room to the pool outside, where she recites her lines with passion thinking of her dear Romeo. In Zeffirelli s account of the film, Romeo is shown down below in the bushes whereas Juliet is the higher and more powerful person out of the two of them, and she is shown as the higher person sitting on the balcony. Once again this has been showing the higher and lower and lower angle shots. It also shows a point of view camera shot throughout this scene, meaning that the film would be played throughout the character s eyes, as if Romeo or Juliet were filming it themselves. • 11. Compare And Contrast Nero And Tiberius Nero and Tiberius both started off as great leaders of Rome. Throughout their leadership many events occurred that caused the general publics view to change on both of them. Comparing Nero, the careless leader to Tiberius, the leader with great accomplishments I found that they are complete opposites. Analyzing the accomplishments, treatment of people, and the overall personality of Nero and Tiberius it can be concluded that Tiberius is a better leader than Nero. Nero and Tiberius were two leaders who were liked by the public. Both starting their reigns young, Nero and Tiberius accomplished many things. Gaining the public s eye, Nero gave Claudius a lavish funeral and personally delivered the oration in person. He founded a colony at Antium consisting of praetorian veterans, he gave the public an immense variety of entertainments, and even introduced his own style of architecture. These accomplishments all played a role in how the public adored him. Giving the public positive ideas will gain their trust, but unfortunately, he does not keep their trust. As Nero became older, his accomplishments became less and less, he began turning into someone who was in it for the money. His turning point was when he bankrupted Rome, once this happened Nero was neither trusted or liked. First beginning his reign, Tiberius gradually showed his people that he was in charge. He would only intervene when things were not done properly. Tiberius began to decrease the expenses of public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Persuasive Essay On Circumcision Let s Talk About Penises! Once upon a time in a land not so far away, a bouncing baby boy was born. His mother and father fawned over his features, from his bald little head to his tiny wrinkled feet. After speaking on the perfection of the entirety his existence, they pass the baby boy off to a nurse who brings him to a table where he is tied down and mutilated against his will with little to no anesthesia. The doctor performing the operation will say, he will not even know it is happening, while the baby screams his head off. After having a perfectly natural piece of his genitalia removed, he will be returned to the arms of his parents. This is the reality for 58% (BabyCenter) of the 2 million or so (NICHD) boys born in the United States every year. Circumcision is an unnecessary procedure that violates the rights of boys. Circumcision is the surgical removal of foreskin, which is the skin covering of the tip of the penis (MayoClinic). The foreskin serves several purposes to the penis, including but not limited to: keeping moisture retained in the penis, protecting the penis from outside bacteria and contributing to sexual pleasure. Circumcision is not a surgery that is exclusive to infants, however, later in life circumcisions are uncommon. It is considered a low risk procedure, however there are risks such as infections, excessive bleeding, both of which can and have lead to fatalities, as well as reattachment requiring more surgery, or the failure of the penis to ... • 15. Persuasive Essay On The Use Of Photosop Photoshop has changed drastically through the ages since its first appearance in 1988. From editing minimally to major creations with the talent and knowledge of how to. Today it is used in the making of pictures with a sense of perfection. But how perfect is perfect? Many of today s photoshopped pictures, especially fashion and beauty photos, give off the sense of unrealistic and false body examples. Photoshopping on beauty and fashion images should be banned or at least controlled in a way, for advertising unrealistic measures and putting that type of perfect on a single body. While Photoshop is used to portray improbable standards, it can be used for many good things. Photoshop helps get rid of unwanted blemishes and used for touch ups. Many photographers mainly use photoshop for the finishing touches, making it their own creation. Although photoshop is deemed evil, ...raising awareness about why it is bad to alter images in mainstream ads and media (especially print) oversimplifies the problem, (Perle). Elizabeth Perle believes the problem with photoshop is that it is being taken way too seriously and magnifying too big. Aside from that, she says that taking away photoshop will put even more pressure on, ...models and performers who are still under an enormous amount of pressure to go to enormous lengths to make their bodies look a certain way, (Perle). She connects her statement with research stating that ...magazines and photoshop do not link to eating disorders but to disordered eating, (Arnold). Disordered eating is a diet that is often confused with eating disorders. Many people who use diets are unhappy with their body and are using a diet to achieve the body they want. Whereas on the other hand, an eating disorder is intentionally not eating and starving themselves to get their desired body. The Access Of Equity Finance Through Crowdfunding From almost the beginning, the idea of community and local based Slow Money ideals being served through crowdfunding was acknowledged here in Southern California. Our Slow Money SoCal founding members were working against a conservative legal backdrop and a sprawling suburbia that made local investing and the community building it entails all the more difficult. In our early days, while we measured the idea of crowdfinancing still serving the Slow Money Principles, we decided it was a legitimate sounding of our regional voice. Today, the access to equity finance through crowdfunding is just another opportunity to continue to serve ways to catalyze capital while exploring the inherent tension between the virtual world and the visceral character of a place based investing. We were broached by Kiva, the grandfather to all technology based crowdfinancing in 2013. Slow Money SoCal had worked without much success, for an approach to local investment during its first year and was ready to consider another way. Still reticent about the rules and regulations that served to inhibit a local investing story, we chose to sign on as an early Kiva Trustee hoping to get our feet wet as we continued to develop our more down to earth, place based approach. We endorsed our first Kiva loan in March 2014. In those early days of Slow Money SoCal, though some of us were comforted by the Kiva partnership and its legal sanctions, some thought the partnership was a distraction. If we were busy doing ... Decreased energy consumption reduces a firms operating costs which increases the firm s share prices (Peloza Yachnin 2008). This shows that sustainable energy consumption can help firms to be more profitable as they can reduce their day to day running costs. An example of this would be Marks and Spencer. Marks and Spencer put into action a program called Plan A in order to improve their sustainability. This plan was focused on making the business become more energy efficient and reducing their carbon footprint through a variety of methods such as reducing Co2 emissions and reducing wastage in packaging. Marks and Spencer s plan a report showed that their energy consumption for warehouses, stores and offices increased in efficiency by 34% since putting plan A into action. The innovation and new ways of doing things stimulated by Plan A was leading to savings of £50m p.a. (Grayson 2011). One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Character Analysis Matthew Wong Novick English 12, p6 25 May, 2017 The Power Dynamic Between Opposite Ideals In society, there are always people who exert control over others. The novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, by Ken Kesey, explores the power dynamic between an authoritarian figure and the people who she controls. Throughout the novel, there is a nurse, known as Ratched, who rules a mental institution using fear to control the patients until Randall McMurphy, someone without any clear or obvious disability, arrives at the institution and disrupts Nurse Ratched s power. The following suggests that Kesey uses imagery, symbolism and metaphor to show the power dynamic between Nurse Ratched and the patients, and shows how the Combine is a microcosm of society. This will be demonstrated through an analysis of Nurse Ratched s peak of control at the beginning, how her control is disrupted when McMurphy arrives, and how by the end, she has little to no control over the patients. At the start of the novel, Nurse Ratched s power, along with the influence of the Combine, are at their peak. Nurse Ratched s control over the Ward is described as hum of black machinery, humming hate and death and other hospital secrets (Kesey 10). • 34. Female Gothic As A Literary Era Of Gothic Literature The term gothic serves as the ideal backdrop for a literary era of suspense, mystery, and terror. A haunted mansion bursting with secrets, a naïve helpless heroine, and the male hero that saves the day are all quintessentially gothic. When Ellen Moers first coined the term Female Gothic in her 1976 book, Literary Women, she defined it as the work that women writers have done in the literary mode that, since the eighteenth century have been termed Gothic (Moers). Her argument that Female Gothic literature is a code for women s fear of domestic entrapment, especially within their own bodies as was mainly experienced in childbirth and motherhood, was quite influential. Anne Williams, in her book The Art of Darkness: A Poetics of Gothic, argues that Female Gothic can be further dissected to include its intention to criticize the patriarchy while educating and socializing its female readers with an affirmation of absolute independence and strength. The Female Gothic is often pursued and haunted by a villainous patriarchal figure, but finds salvation on her own accord and more importantly, within herself. Another element of Female gothic is madness and monstrosity as an explanation for why the female would deviate from the conventional norm.
