Government Regulation And Its Effect On Society Essay
The world is a complex and intricate machine, with many pieces to create a much larger thing.
Government and society are simply pieces of the same machine that depend on each other. Likewise,
government and society have the option to liberate or limit the activities of men and it is a necessary
occurrence of life. Government is dependent on society because social behaviors exists wherever there
are good or bad, proper or improper relationships between human beings. Humans install government
from their own belief that human behavior is self centered therefore society requires governing.
Likewise, government oversight is needed in the economy as well as in society. The appropriate role
of government in the economy is different from a typical liberal stance. Although the economy is an
ever changing machine that rises and falls due to no fault of its own some feel that government
regulation is needed. Without government regulation in the economy, free market trade could set the
bar for interest rates, trade tax, business monopolies, and currency value. ...the safety of the republic
lay in the autocratic strength of its government... this quote from Franklin Roosevelt s Commonwealth
Club Address displays how the main objective for a strong central government is to protect the people.
To further protect the people of the United States, the presences of a strong government in the
financial sector is crucial to prohibit the use of banks raising the interest rates to a level where

The Middle Age Endurance
Carter, Jennifer , M.Ed. Developmental Psychology 5 July 2015 Humanity s Middle Age Endurance
Middle age is the term used to describe the time in an adult s life between the ages of 45 and 65. More
importantly, middle age is an adult developmental stage. It is a time in which the adult body, and mind
go through a series of changes physiologically, mentally, and emotionally. During their middle age
years, adults will exhibit signs of aging such as hair loss, gray hair, and skin losing its elasticity.
Middle age is also characterized by weight gain, and loss of physical strength. Navigating this time

In the United States, unhappiness peaks at around age 40 for women and 50 for men. They found the
same U shape in happiness levels and life satisfaction by age for people living in 72 countries, (2008).
The impact middle age has on healthy living cannot be underestimated. In a presentation on Physical
Development in Middle Adulthood, Isaac Nathan lists six effects of cultural differences on healthy
living during middle age; isolation, poverty, cultures in which men are the dominant sex, religion,
language, and cultural habits, (2013). Again, middle age is not biased toward men or women, and does
not favor one culture over another. Middle aged adults who find themselves caring for aging parents,
while at the same time raising their own families are referred to as the sandwich generation. According
to Carol Abaya, M.A., a nationally recognized expert on the subject of the sandwich generation, the
above describes the Traditional Sandwich definition of sandwich generation. The second
classification, The Club Sandwich, represents those who are of middle age, care for an elderly parent,
their own children, and grandchildren, or those in their 30 or 40 s with young children, aging parents,
and grandparents. The third classification is the Open Face Sandwich, a term meaning anyone else

Self Identity And Self-Identity In The House On Mango Street
Self identity plays a large and significant role in shaping each of our lives. It is very important because
it affects the way you feel about yourself and how you behave in challenging situations. In The House
on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the main character, Esperanza, is an approximately 12 year old
Mexican American girl who struggles for self definition and underscores her every action and
encounter as she matures emotionally and sexually. Similarly, in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part
Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, the main character, Junior, is a 14 year old Spokane Indian boy who
decides to go to a high school which has mostly white kids in nearby Reardan, Washington in order to
have better opportunities in life. Both of these characters struggle to fit in with their surroundings that

instance, on page 5 of The House on Mango Street, Esperanza says I knew I had to have a house. A
real house. One that I could point to. But this isn t it. The house on Mango Street isn t it. For the time
being, Mama says. Temporary says, Papa. But I know how those things go. When a nun asked
Esperanza where she lived and she told her, the nun made Esperanza feel ashamed about where she

Great Gatsby Color Symbolism Essay
Colors can be symbolic of infinite various things. Artists take this truth into attention while selecting
the colors they use in their paintings; as these colors are used to generate emotions inside their target
market. Identical to an artist, F. Scott Fitzgerald makes use of light and color in his masterpiece to
create float and harmony. There is, however, an additional, extensive motive for his use of light and
coloration symbolism. Fitzgerald uses lights and hues to focus on the critical battle, Gatsby and Daisy

Kurt Cobain Analysis
Representation is the description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular way. How have
the texts you have chosen provide a representation of the person you have researched? What element/s
of bias have affected this representation?
Artist, poet, american musician and for the most part an influential icon of grunge this was who Kurt
Cobain was, as he was an inspiration to many for his talent, passion and beliefs around social
constructs. The representation of a person effects the way they influence other people and in Kurt s
case the world. Some of the factors that contributed to Kurt s influence was his lyrics in his music, the
impact on his audiences both at live performances and interviews.
Personal differences is shown in Kurt Cobain s documentary as they use the technique of exposition
which is used at the beginning the film. The documentary uses specific segments to persuade us and
gives us a chance evaluate and develop our own understanding of who he was.
This documentary shows that although Kurt was a musician, his music was an acquired taste, a blend
of punk, metal and grunge music. He talked about many controversial topics such as drugs, alienation,
death and even sexual violence. The many parents of the youth questioned if their children should not

Hegel And Kant On The Ontological Argument Essay
Hegel and Kant on the Ontological Argument
ABSTRACT: I intend to present Kant s refutation of the ontological argument as confronted by Hegel
s critique of Kant s refutation. The ontological argument can be exposed in a syllogistic way:
everything I conceive as belonging clearly and distinctly to the nature or essence of something can be
asserted as true of something. I perceive clearly and distinctly that existence belongs to the nature or
essence of a perfect being; therefore, existence can be stated as true of a supremely perfect being, that
is, perfect being exists. I intend to argue that Kant criticizes both the major and minor premises. To the
major premise, he objects that there is an unqualified passage from the logical to the ... Show more

Premise 2 holds the central idea of the ontological argument: it implies that existence is a property or
quality, and as such should take part of the essence of a supremely perfect being. Such conception
could be expressed in the following derived argument:
1) All perfections belong clearly and distinctly to the essence of a supremely perfect being;
2) Existence is a perfection therefore, existence belongs to the essence of a supremely perfect being
II. Kant s Refutation of the Ontological Argument
Kant s criticism aims at both premises of the main argument. To the major premise, he objects that
there is an unjustified passage from the logical to the ontological level: But the unconditioned
necessity of judgments is not the same as an absolute necessity of things. The absolute necessity of the
judgments is only a conditioned necessity of the thing, or of the predicate in the judgment (KrV, B621)
In other words, to conceive that S is P doesn t imply the necessary existence of S. Such proposition
requires not the absolute necessity of something but a

Although there has been a dramatic increase in the number of students in high school Calculus,

strength the protagonist needs in order to face the enemy he is set to face in the ring. Juxtaposing
sound against image and allowing for clear action and music to ramp up together, Rocky s

her rebellion and compassion. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion. Hester
Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam, commits the crime of
adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne describes her crime in
dialogue between Hester s husband, who has just arrived in Boston and is unaware of Hester s

This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through rebellion
because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely disobeys the
laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief system through
the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her wedlock child for the
first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and how the town
reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her dimmed and
obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her beauty shone
out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46). This quote
shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime is seen in
the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and weakness as
she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high, ignoring their
judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the mannerisms the
Puritan s expected of her. Along with her rebellion, Hester Prynne defies the Puritan belief system

Analysis Of Martin Luther King And Malcolm X
In his inaugural address on August 9th, 1974, President Gerald Ford assured the nation our long
national nightmare is over. He may have spoken too soon. The early 1970s were a bleak time for black
America. So much hope had died with the assassination of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X in the
late 60 s. There were revolts in urban communities across the United States and brutal encounters with
the police (McTernan). Much has been written about the state of the nation in the 70 s but something
extraordinary came out of the fire, music. The music of New York City amid this time is a

After about two years at Lincoln, Scott Heron took a year off from an unconventional college career to
write the novels The Vulture and The Nigger Factory, inspired by some of the anger and resentment
Gil felt about Lincoln and the tumult reverberating on other campuses (Baram). He received esteemed
recognition for the publication of The Vulture but he still enjoyed poetry and performing. By the start
of the decade, he realized that he could combine his charged messages with poetry to funk beats to
create a new sound. From this revelation, many of his poems transformed into lyrics for songs that he
composed with Brian. But thanks in large part to the success of his first book of poetry, Small Talk at

legendary jazz artists from Louis Armstrong to John Coltrane. Thiele encouraged Scott Heron to

In The Effect of Medical Malpractice Liability on the Delivery of Health Care, Daniel Weinberg
discusses the effects of medical malpractice liability on the delivery of health care in the United

focuses on physician workforce, physician income and patients access to care. Weinberg discusses the
affect medical malpractice is having on people in certain aspects of the medical field and also how it is
affecting those who are seeking medical attention. One of the main topics that Weinberg talks about is
how medical malpractice affects physicians and if it cause them to use defensive medicine, which goes
into how some people believe that defensive medicine can be a waste of money and affect how the

The Story Of A Bedroom
In a bedroom, a girl lies still on her bed. She is clothed in her pajamas and a robe as if she didn t quite
finish getting ready for bed. She is rolled over on her side, her arms and legs bound with rope and her
eyes staring blankly at the pink wall in front of her that is now speckled with blood. Her blood. There
is a hole in the back of her head where a bullet pierced through her skull. In another room, a woman
has her hands and feet bound tightly with rope. She is also dressed in her pajamas, but she has
adhesive tape wrapped around her mouth. Her dead eyes look horrified as if they are staring at the
killer who took her life away. She has a bullet wound on the side of her head. In the basement, a boy is
found lying on a couch. He is gagged and bound like the woman upstairs. His head is propped up by
pillows and a ghastly hole decorates the middle of his forehead where a bullet embedded itself in his
skull. In the furnace room, a man is found lying on top of a mattress box. He is bound and gagged like
two of the previous victims. However, his is the most gruesome murder the most macabre murder. He
did have a gunshot wound on the front of his head, but he was probably already dead (or at least
dying) when that deadly injury was inflicted. That is because his throat was slit. These four cold

Acoustic Trauma
Another study looked at the effects of acoustic trauma in adult Cotirnix quail, and if hair cell

It was found that many animal species had the ability to regenerate hair cells in the inner ear, except
mammals. Mammals were shown to have very limited hair cell regeneration, mainly in the auditory
epithelium. It was believed that hair cells in birds arose from adjacent supporting cells. For hair cells
to regenerate, it was believed that supporting cells reentered mitosis, formed daughter cells that then
differentiated into either hair cells or more supporting cells, and in doing this it would restore function
and structure to the inner ear epithelium. However, it was found that in avian species this was not the
case. Remarkably after further analysis, in many avian species, supporting cells actually go through a
process of direct differentiation. This is when the supporting cells themselves actually change their
gene expression and convert into hair cells without dividing. There was no literature if there were
changes in signaling but it would be possible since the cells would have to have some notification in
which to transdifferentiate. This has been studied in chicken auditory epithelium. The studies show
that the different mechanism is unique in its spatial and temporal patterns which suggest that the cells
are being differentially regulated. Direct differentiation is a possible route of new hair cell
development that was already discussed previously in the

Ignorance In Flowers For Algernon By Charlie Gordon
All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure. Mark Twain.
Sometimes ignorance is bliss. People on occasion, are happier being ignorant. In the novel Flowers
For Algernon, the main character Charlie Gordon, seems happier being dumb or ignorant. However,
people disagree with the fact that ignorance can sometimes be better and stand with the opinion that
knowledge is always beneficial. In reality, ignorance can sometimes be helpful to people.
In actuality, ignorance is quite advantageous. For example, little kids believe Santa Claus is real and
are ignorant to the fact that their parents are buying them presents, until their parents tell them.
Another example includes kids in other countries. Take for example kids in South Africa. Kids in
South Africa will most likely never have an Iphone 7, fancy expensive clothes, or have even basic
privileges, such as going to school or having a hot shower. Although these kids will never experience
experiences that kids in America have, they are still content with what they have, because they are
ignorant to the fact that superior conditions exist. An additional example is Frederick Douglass, an
American slave. He learned to read, write and spell and envied his fellow slaves for their ignorance,
after learning his tragic fate about being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ignorance can be effective in the long run. For example, a parent who is quite strict and does not know
their child goes out and disobeys them is considered ignorance being bliss. Another example is

their window is also ignorance being blissful. A final example is a dog that loves the park and is told
that he is going to the park (but is ignorant to the fact he is going to the vet), might be blissful. All of
these examples are proof that not having knowledge, can be quite

The Trinity is the word that we use to describe the nature of God. God consists of three simultaneous,
eternal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God being simultaneous or existing at the

Persons not only exist as one in the present moment, but will continue to do so with no end. The way
they relate to each other is eternal and also unchangeable. The Trinity has always been, and will
always be. The Trinity has no beginning nor an end. All three Persons in the Trinity are the same in
nature, as well as being completely divine with equal attributes. Although the three persons in the

Hip Hop, A Popular Genre Of Music
Hip Hop is a subcultural movement that formed in the early 1970s by African American, Caribbean
and Latino youths. It wasn t until the late 1980s that it became popular outside of the African
American community and by the 2000s it became the most popular genre of music. However, the
subculture has evolved through out the years and the comparison between then and now is growing
increasingly big. Hip Hop in the 80s consisted of music, dance, creativity and artistry. It also allowed
people an avenue to express themselves and deliver a sense of their surroundings and backgrounds
whether that was positive or negative. As well as this bringing communities together, it also drove
them apart as expressing yourself got competitive and with hip hop being a music form. People would
start to offend each other through lyrics, by pointing out disadvantages. This culture was now so
competitive that violence started to outbreak due to people taking it to serious and this brought so
much bad attention towards it, to be a rapper was basically classing yourself as a criminal.
Unfortunately, how most people remember hip hop may be distorted through the prevalence of
violence in the hip hop culture, whether heard in lyrics, seen from artists or in the media s
representation of artist beef. (Janeé, L. 2015) The fashion statement within this subculture was heavily
frowned upon due to its strong relation to gangs and how they dressed. It consisted of over sized

The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity
Ngo
Humanities 4314
Midterm: October 12, 2014
Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated
with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of
the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase
in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the
expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England
(113).
Population Growth
Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing;
with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would
shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such
as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community.
The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the
seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth
century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Europe s population suffered
a downfall when the prices of grain and flour had risen following the law of supply and demand;
facing the wraths of high prices and short supply, people would soon become undernourished and
starving, possibly trying to fend off hunger by

their answer would probably be something between the lines of using the internet and anything else

the internet has given way to more opportunities especially in the entertainment category which
resulted in more people turning to the internet and away from TV and movies. According to the 2011

Disadvantages Of Bananas
You have probably heard of the recommendation that you should eat five fruits and vegetables per day.
Bananas are an excellent choice as one of your five per day. They contain a high amount of the
vitamins and minerals that your body needs and will provide you with many health benefits.
Bananas are high calories. According to some research, every 100 grams of bananas contains as much
as 378 joules. In some tropic areas, people feed themselves on bananas. But there are hidden dangers
if you eat too many bananas. This fruit also enjoys high reputation for its varied nutrition. There are
about 20 grams of carbohydrates, 1.2 grams of proteins, 0.6 grams of fat and other various kinds of
minerals and vitamins in every 100 grams of bananas. Of all the nutrition, vitamins overwhelm the
others. For instance, vitamin A can promote the growth of the human body and improve the human
body s immune system. It is necessary to maintain the procreation and protect the eyes. And thiamine
is useful to prevent and cure the beriberi and protect the nervous system as well. Moreover, the
riboflavin helps with the growth and development of children.
Bananas are ready to serve as a kind of fruit. They can be processed as well. For example, cooked
bananas are made into powders and then used as additives in cakes and bread. Or after fermented,
people can extract alcohol from them or produce banana wine. Mature bananas are also processed into
preserved fruit, juice or essence. Furthermore, the

What Impression of Inman is created in chapter 1 of Cold Mountain?
Throughout Chapter one Frazier establishes Inman s character in sufficient detail for the reader to feel
involved in his life and get an insight into the way he thinks. This gives the reader a feeling of
superiority as to their knowledge of Inman and his feelings. Inman is based on Frazier s great uncle.
This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his situation.
He appears to be very sensitive to his surroundings as the environment of the hospital seems to affect
his feelings in a very negative way.
An example of this is where he thinks about how he obtained his wound.

The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows the
weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals that he
has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s only
thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he wishes
that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those that war has
affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still has to find
someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks the blind man
Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because
Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has
forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he feels
towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless and it also
shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his meeting with the
Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of other cultures as he
listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. This also shows that he has a

Characteristics Of Richard Kuklinski

Criminal Justice 3, 7th period
24 October 2017
IceMan Essay The IceMan, also known as Richard Kuklinski, is a different breed of killer. While he
portrayed many similar traits as the other killers we have learned about such as John Wayne Gacy and
Jeffrey Dahmer, the iceman had a certain trait that set him apart: no heart or conscience. When
watching the interview by American Justice I realized that Kuklinski was aware of what he had done
but was neither mad nor disappointed by the things he had done. He is a prime example of someone
that would go right back to killing if let out. While this is true, Kuklinski realized that he had hurt his
family. He stated that he realized this and it was the only thing he would change. Kuklinski did many
things that were worse to set himself apart from the other killers we have learned about.
The first thing that sets Richard Kuklinski apart is the fact that he has no conscience. Over and over
again he killed based on the fact he was just told to. When asked in the interview why he killed and if
he would if there was no reason to, he said, yeah, I really did not have a reason to, and I just did it
because. With a slight grin on his face, he said he would kill for no reason. That really shows through
as a pure psycho. Even worse than saying he would do it for no reason was when he described some of
the times he killed this way. At one point in the interview, the Iceman described one of his most
heartless

When Blacksmiths were first starting, they would blow on the flames to stoke them and would hit
molten pieces of metal with rock. As time progressed on, the put a handle on their rocks and used a

that we use today. What blacksmiths make has also changed quite a bit. In the past they would make
almost everything, from tools, to wagons, to pans. As time went on they made less things, especially
weapons as more machines could mass produce them, and blacksmithing almost died out in the
industrial revolution. In modern times blacksmiths are almost never called upon to make anything
other than decorative items for people who want something hand made. The prices have changed, for
example, as stated by, , Blacksmith Emerson Bixby of Barre, Massachusetts charged as little as 2¢ to
make a simple small item such as an axe wedge; 12¢ to mend (repair) a hoe; an average of 75¢ to

Elements Of A Hero s Journey
Elements of A Hero s Journey in Literature
Introduction
A Hero s Journey by Joseph Campbell describes the different elements of what it means to be a hero.
A book that utilizes these elements, A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L Engle is a story about the
adventures of a young girl named Meg, her brother Charles Wallace, and friend Calvin. Meg comes
from a supportive and brilliant family with a beautiful mother, but her father who she adores dearly,
has not come home for many months. Meg s genius little brother, Charles Wallace befriends an old
lady that Meg is initially suspicious of, but ends up helping her tremendously in bringing her father
home. Throughout this story Meg faces challenges and grows as a character after overcoming many
obstacles that ultimately aid in saving her father and brothers life. Another story where the protagonist
sets off on an adventure that could potentially be a matter of life and death, is a book called Coraline.
The protagonist, Coraline, is a very curious and adventurous young girl. The fact that Coraline s
parents do not give her any attention, as well as her curiosity and adventurous spirit, are what lead her
to initially get into to trouble. Coraline finds an old door in her house and steals the key from her

Hindus used these practices as a way to reflect on the stories of the gods such as Shiva and how they
protected the earth and helped the people. For instance, how the text describes Shiva using his hair to

catching the falling river in a lock of his matter hair where she wandered for years until the energy of
her fall was spent. She trickled out gently, purifying and fructifying the earth. The multitudes of

Such conception could be expressed in the following derived argument: 1) All perfections belong clearly and distinctly to the essence of a supremely perfect being; 2) Existence is a perfection therefore, existence belongs to the essence of a supremely perfect being II. Kant s Refutation of the Ontological Argument Kant s criticism aims at both premises of the main argument. To the major premise, he objects that there is an unjustified passage from the logical to the ontological level: But the unconditioned necessity of judgments is not the same as an absolute necessity of things. The absolute necessity of the judgments is only a conditioned necessity of the thing, or of the predicate in the judgment (KrV, B621) In other words, to conceive that S is P doesn t imply the necessary existence of S. Soon Fly Now Film Analysis The purpose of the Training for Big Fight montage in the film Rocky is to showcase the progression of strength the protagonist needs in order to face the enemy he is set to face in the ring. Juxtaposing sound against image and allowing for clear action and music to ramp up together, Rocky s development as a fighter and his struggle to reach the top is distinctly shown. Further, the use of sound, outside of music, in the montage is placed strategically in order highlight the physical impacts of Rocky s punches. The music used is Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti and was released and composed for the film Rocky. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion. Hester Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam, commits the crime of adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and how the town reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her beauty shone out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46). This quote shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime is seen in the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and weakness as she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high, ignoring their judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the mannerisms the Puritan s expected of her. By the start of the decade, he realized that he could combine his charged messages with poetry to funk beats to create a new sound. Mammals were shown to have very limited hair cell regeneration, mainly in the auditory epithelium. It was believed that hair cells in birds arose from adjacent supporting cells. For hair cells to regenerate, it was believed that supporting cells reentered mitosis, formed daughter cells that then differentiated into either hair cells or more supporting cells, and in doing this it would restore function and structure to the inner ear epithelium. However, it was found that in avian species this was not the case. Remarkably after further analysis, in many avian species, supporting cells actually go through a process of direct differentiation. This is when the supporting cells themselves actually change their gene expression and convert into hair cells without dividing. There was no literature if there were changes in signaling but it would be possible since the cells would have to have some notification in which to transdifferentiate. This has been studied in chicken auditory epithelium. The studies show that the different mechanism is unique in its spatial and temporal patterns which suggest that the cells are being differentially regulated. Kids in South Africa will most likely never have an Iphone 7, fancy expensive clothes, or have even basic privileges, such as going to school or having a hot shower. The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity Ngo Humanities 4314 Midterm: October 12, 2014 Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England (113). Population Growth Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing; with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community. The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his situation. He appears to be very sensitive to his surroundings as the environment of the hospital seems to affect his feelings in a very negative way. An example of this is where he thinks about how he obtained his wound. This shows his strength of character both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows the weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals that he has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s only thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he wishes that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those that war has affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still has to find someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks the blind man Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he feels towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless and it also shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his meeting with the Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of other cultures as he listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. This also shows that he has a lot of self esteem and although he is very open minded he has strongly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Characteristics Of Richard Kuklinski Sutton Magee Ms. Dixon Criminal Justice 3, 7th period 24 October 2017 IceMan Essay The IceMan, also known as Richard Kuklinski, is a different breed of killer. While he portrayed many similar traits as the other killers we have learned about such as John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer, the iceman had a certain trait that set him apart: no heart or conscience. When watching the interview by American Justice I realized that Kuklinski was aware of what he had done but was neither mad nor disappointed by the things he had done. He is a prime example of someone that would go right back to killing if let out. While this is true, Kuklinski realized that he had hurt his family. He stated that he realized this and it was the only thing he would change. Kuklinski did many things that were worse to set himself apart from the other killers we have learned about. The first thing that sets Richard Kuklinski apart is the fact that he has no conscience. Over and over again he killed based on the fact he was just told to. When asked in the interview why he killed and if he would if there was no reason to, he said, yeah, I really did not have a reason to, and I just did it because. With a slight grin on his face, he said he would kill for no reason. That really shows through as a pure psycho. Even worse than saying he would do it for no reason was when he described some of the times he killed this way. At one point in the interview, the Iceman described one of his most heartless ... When Blacksmiths were first starting, they would blow on the flames to stoke them and would hit molten pieces of metal with rock. As time progressed on, the put a handle on their rocks and used a bellows to stoke the flame. In modern times blacksmiths used a hand crank fan and used the hammers that we use today. What blacksmiths make has also changed quite a bit. In the past they would make almost everything, from tools, to wagons, to pans. As time went on they made less things, especially weapons as more machines could mass produce them, and blacksmithing almost died out in the industrial revolution. In modern times blacksmiths are almost never called upon to make anything other than decorative items for people who want something hand made. The prices have changed, for example, as stated by, , Blacksmith Emerson Bixby of Barre, Massachusetts charged as little as 2¢ to make a simple small item such as an axe wedge; 12¢ to mend (repair) a hoe; an average of 75¢ to mend an axe; 79¢ to shoe an ox; between $1.00 and $1.50 to new lay (repair and reshape) a plow; and as much as $5.50 to make and apply all the ironwork on a new wagon.¨ Money from 1850 has changed a lot to now, $100 in 1850=$2,931.69 in 2016. Weapons have also changed a lot over the centuries. For example gunpowder was invented in China in the 9th century. The first gun was fired in 1364 and inventions followed quickly after. • 43. Cultural Facilitation For my Cultural Facilitation Project I decided to recreate the Planning the Relief at Mammallapuram activity. On October 14 around 3:20 PM I arranged a small group gathering with my friends Vikas, Jackie, Wen, and Hannah at my house to help me with my project, the activity lasted until 5:00 PM. Before starting the activity, I had my participants read the text we had to read for our class, Playful Ambiguity and Political Authority at the the Large Relief at Mamallapuram by Pandma Kaima and view the picture of the relief as we did for our class assignment. My purpose of doing this was so that my participants could get an idea of what they were going to do the activity on rather than just telling them to start going into the activity without ...
