My Statement of Purpose for a Course on Networks and IP...
Statement of Purpose Introduction From an early age I learned to look at challenges not as
insurmountable problems, but as opportunities for continual growth, personal discovery, and
ultimately achievement. This mindset of translating challenges pervades my academic career to this
point, and in pursuing a Masters of Science degree I hope to challenge myself to the next level of
academic and professional achievement. Networks and IP Security The innate strengths I have include
the ability to create, critique and analyze algorithms for optimal performance, in addition to router
ripping, protocol analysis and understanding of and interest in data structures and data models. I have
excelled in the areas of electric circuitry design and components, and have also discovered an innate
ability to troubleshoot problems from a systemic, highly focused standpoint. This ability to view entire
networks and the Internet from a very detailed, systemic standpoint has also helped me to excel in
related studies of programming, data structures and algorithm development. The study of security has
been based on the insights gained from viewing the many functional areas of networks through the
perspective of fault tolerance, authentication, advanced connectivity and the development of data
structures that enable communication and collaboration (Adams, 1986). My passion is in the area of
computer networks and security, which is an area I will continually strive to excel in, relying on

Autistic Savant In The Film Rain Man
Rain Man: Autistic Savant An Autistic Savant is an individual with a(n) skill that is above an average
individual (Research: Autistic Savant, n.d.). The film Rain Man ( Levinson Guber, 1988), is about a
car dealer man named Charlie Babbitt played by Tom Cruise, who learns about his fathering passing
away and leaving three million dollars in a trust with a mental institution and not to Charlie. Charlie
then goes to the institution to find out why his estranged father would leave the money with the
institution and to see who is in control of the money so he can take his fortune. There he discovers he
has a an autistic older brother named Raymond played by Dustin Hoffman. From the motivation of
their father s fortune, Charlie kidnaps his brother and drives him across the country to acquire the
small fortune by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through their travels, Charlie learns of Raymond s autistic savant skills to memorize books, calculate
huge numbers, and so many other unique abilities during this road trip. By the end of all this, both of
the brothers lives will change forever (Levinson Guber, 1988). There are plenty of examples that show
Raymond is not only autistic, but also a savant. When Charlie first meets Raymond, Charlie sees
Raymond sitting in the car their dad gave him and then Charlie asks him a question and Raymond
answers by saying random things, but also, statistics about the car. That leads him to discover
Raymond is his brother (Levinson Guber, 1988). That scene shows Raymond s disability in having
communication difficulties, but also a small hint into his savant capabilities (Whitbourne Halgin,
2013). The next scene is where Charlie is in Raymond s room and Charlie begins

Key Characters In King Schariar And His Brother
Through the presentation of the central characters and subtle yet clever methods of telling the story
and conveying its themes are some of the key reasons King Schariar and his Brother is so engaging to
all its readers, and perhaps why it has stood the greatest centuries long test of time.
Firstly, the character of King Schariar, the namesake of the story: We are first introduces to him in the
context of being his father s son, who was one of the best monarchs of his time . The state of the
Sassanidae dynasty is said to be prosperous , powerful and all the King s subjects peaceful and
content, supportive of their monarch. The future King Schariar and his brother, Schahzeman, are very
close and affectionate to one another, so much so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows in his dialogue with the grand vizir, wherein he utters almost nothing but threats of
violence. The stark contrast between who the Sultan once was with who he has become is so colossal
and near unbelievable it implores us to carry on reading, especially as Scherazade enters the picture.
Our first grasp at who Scherazade is comes through the voice of her , the grand vizir. She is beautiful,
rich and highly educated, so naturally we would expect her to behave as most other women of her
stature would snotty and spoilt. Only she is the furthest thing from. We see her spark of courage and
perseverance in the conversation she has with her father. Her words are polite, reverent, imploring him
to grant her wish, as opposed to begging or demanding. In this, we learn of her linguistic aptitude, her
ability to bend the will of those whom she speaks to whatever she wants. She is powerful in her words
and her wit powerful in the same way Schariar is with his corrupt violence.
The parallels and contrasting juxtaposition between Scherazade and King Schariar are intriguing,
since they are such different people. Their skills in manipulation equal each other in strength, yet their
motives and platform for that power does not. As I have mentioned before, Scherazade achieves her
power through her words, Schariar through exploiting his royal standing as King. This comes out in
the narration: We see very little of Schariar verbally commanding or

Miracle Baby Research Paper
For my extra credit project, I decided to shine a little light on the situation of my baby brothers birth.
He was an answer to prayers and ultimately a blessing on our family. He didn t arrive as scheduled or
when we thought he was. In addition, nothing went as planned but all I knew is that everything was
eventually going to fall into place. Moreover, there was nothing really normal about my brothers birth
or his situation, but in my eyes, that is what makes him a miracle baby to me.
Before my baby brother was born, I was the youngest in my family. My sister and I were the only
kids, we are five years apart, she was born in 1994 and I was born in 1999. We were inseparable
growing up because it was just the two of us and we only had each other. ... Show more content on

He was born as a five pound baby and we believed that god saved my mom because she was
considered to be an older mom , which means she falls in the category of being a high risk mom,
making it harder to give birth. Even though she was considered high risk, this five pound baby was
destined to be born. He was born at Moanalua Hospital and his initial due date to be born was
February 6th, 2017, but instead, he came 2 months early. Since he was born that early it put him in the
category of a preemie, which means when a baby is born before the optimal birth weeks to be born.
When my mom then gave birth the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurses came to take him.
Since he was so early she couldn t hold him, he had to be taken and hooked up to machines. In order
to save his life he needed to be rushed there, it was the hardest thing to do my mom said because all
she wanted to do was hold him but she knew that his life and his breathing was more important. She
knew that if she let him go now she would have a lifetime to be able to hold him and love him
unconditionally. My mom then got housed in The Mother Baby unit where she and I resided until she
healed enough to be able to be sent

The Morality of Managed Care Essay
The Morality of Managed Care
The preservation of health is a duty according to Herbert Spencer, an English philosopher (Andrews,
1993). Managed care conglomerates provide health coverage for increasing numbers of Americans.
Many critics question whether these businesses provide care dutifully. At the very least, the present
managed care system requires health care providers and recipients to reexamine established principles
underling physician patient interaction. Although health maintenance organizations are commonly
misunderstood, Americans hope these institutions will dampen runaway health care expenditures.
Since HMO s are increasing in number, health care recipients need to examine how established,
ethical principles in America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike fee for service reimbursement which was normative previous to managed care, HMO s usually
pay doctors and hospitals massive sums up front. These payments are arranged per diem, by
capitation, or sometimes by fixed salary. Many critics of managed care believe that these
compensation packages are immoral.
What Health Care Is Now
In order to ascertain the merit of managed health care, ethical presuppositions guiding our health care
system require consideration. In the United States, four main principles undergird the way health care
is practiced. These principles are: beneficence, nommaleficence, autonomy and justice. Beneficence is
the obligation of health care providers to render help to people in need. Just as health care workers are
called to provide care, they also have a duty to do no harm. This principle is commonly called
nonmaleficence. At times, the possibility of doing good may result in injury. Therefore, the principle
of beneficence and nonmaleficence do not always concur. Thirdly, the principle of autonomy allows
patients to make choices regarding their health care. In other words, health care providers should
allow patients to make the final decision regarding their treatment plan. Finally, justice refers to the
ethical concept of treating everyone in a

The Flipped Classroom Experience
Technologies have its own share of advantages and disadvantages. Technology can be a boon in
disguise or it can work in opposite way. In past, several learning institutes have tried applying new and
latest technologies to enhance the teaching experience. Technology needs to be analysed methodically
to estimate the benefits. The technology we discussed and recommend includes Webex, classroom
recording which facilitate collaborative online interactive sessions. These technology have played
important role in making teaching more flexible and beneficial to students and teachers. Many
universities across the world have started using online interactive sessions for teaching. This is also
known as online tutoring or online course. As of now, major US universities including MIT and
Harvard are offering online courses. It has its own unique selling point of location flexibility. It has
been successfully tried across the world to give more value to students and make education truly
global globalized.
This can be also used to have mix of both worlds. Not just online or full recorded classroom videos
but something that gives a better learning experience. It is also called as Flipped learning. Flipped
learning is combination of online teaching and recorded video sessions, which students watch usually
at home and homework is now completed in the class with interaction from teachers and collaboration
of students. Flipped teaching is a new form of blended learning instead of pure lecturing.

Indonesia Needs Sex Education in Order to Combat Unwanted...
A. Reproductive health services have and currently do struggle against obstacles including religious
beliefs, governmental policies, educational shortcomings, and governmental financial circumstances.
With the increase in reproductive health medicine and technology, an increase for the global standard
of living, and women s rights movements worldwide, global access to reproductive health services is
becoming more and more of a priority. Topics such as abortion and form of contraception are highly
debated. Indonesia is the world s most populous Muslim majority nation, with almost 86.1% of
Indonesians declared Muslim according to the 2000 census. 8.7% of the population is Christian, 3%
are Hindu, and 1.8% Buddhist or other ( Demographics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will help prevent infant fatalities, infant malnourishment, and maternal fatality during birth.
C. Indonesia s proposition to achieve these goals and to provide global access to reproductive health
services is quite simple. The committee should make a resolution which requires governments to
create and fund a board which is given the task to provide the citizens of the country (ranging from
youths to young adults to adults to the elderly) with adequate education in relation to sexual
intercourse and the consequences of intercourse and all other sex related issues. The board would also
provide various contraceptives for either free (funds permitting) or as discounted as possible. The
board would have to provide various contraceptives in order to meet the standards of the individual
receiving the contraception s religious beliefs. This would help significantly reduce sexual related
problems seen in today s world, such as abortion, STDs, and unwanted pregnancy.

Oswald Chest Cobblepot In Gotham
Gotham, a crime show, has a cast of interesting archetypes who contribute to the show in their own
ways. One such character is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, who is the former umbrella man of Fish
Mooney, a crime lady of Gotham (the city). He is also a wingman of Salviatore Maroni, who is a mob
boss in Gotham. Lastly, he is a spy for Carmine Falcone, who is the head of the Gotham City mobs
and the underworld boss. Oswald Cobblepot, nicknamed The Penguin, because of his penguin style
walking, is at first a timid sycophant who uses his devious plans to manipulate others to achieve goals
for Fish Mooney and eventually Carmine Falcone. He has high intellect and is adept at manipulating
others with the resources he is given. However, by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

using trickery as the trickster is known to do, Cobblepot provides valuable information to Falcone in
order to be killed off by Detective James Gordon of the GCPD, who Cobblepot knows is a trustworthy
officer, and won t kill him. This is an external struggle between the person and death that Cobblepot is
faced with. A major internal struggle he faces is when he decides to betray Falcone in order to become
the king of Gotham. Essentially, this is the transition from being a trickster to the villain who would
now be the main target for the hero, James Gordon. Cobblepot struggles with whether to stay loyal to
his savior or to betray the one who gave him new life and struggles to answer this question. Oswald
Cobblepot is a trickster and because of his ability to deceive people to meet his ends, his biggest
challenge is against death. Similarly to deceiving people, life almost deceives him when he sells off
Fish Mooney. In a way, death is deceptive that it comes face to face with him at an unexpected time,
similar to how he unexpectedly exposes his boss at a random given

“the Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd”
The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd By Sir Walter Raleigh Summary: The Nymph s Reply to the
Shepherd is Sir Walter Raleigh s response to a poem written by Christopher Marlowe, The Passionate
Shepherd to His Love. In the Marlowe poem, the shepherd proposes to his beloved by portraying their
ideal future together: a life filled with earthly pleasures in a world of eternal spring. Raleigh s reply,
however, debunks the shepherd s fanciful vision. While Marlowe s speaker promises nature s beauty
and a litany of gifts, Raleigh s nymph responds that such promises could only remain valid if all the
world and love were young. Thus, she introduces the concepts of time and change. In her world, the
seasons cause the shepherd s shallow rivers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raleigh reiterates many of Marlowe s images and ideas, but distorts them through the lens of time.
The same alliteration is also used in both; there is, however, a marked difference in their sounds.
Marlowe alliterates softer m and l sounds, giving his poem the aforementioned rolling aspect. Raleigh
imitates Marlowe extremely well, but there is a telling difference that can be noted in some places;
Raleigh uses a rougher alliteration of sounds like hard c and t to give his poem a more mocking,
satirical bent. This is especially prominent in the second stanza of Raleigh s poem; while Marlowe s
second stanza has the softer alliterative sounds, Raleigh s stanza moves stiffly with the c sounds in
complains of cares to come (8). The metrics of Raleigh s poem are also in and of themselves a direct
reply to Marlowe s. Raleigh uses the same iambic tetrameter that Marlowe uses, organizing the poem
into four line stanzas composed of two rhyming couplets each. He achieves an oddly mocking tone
with the meter because of the words involved. Although the words still flow because of the regular
meter, they are decidedly less romantic and are juxtaposed with the meter. Examples of this are the
harsh alliteration in complains of cares to come (8) or the rolling, soft sound that wayward winter s
reckoning yields (10). Although the metrics are regular and fall soft on the ear, the subject matter is
darker and uses the meter to make fun of Marlowe s

Essay On The Causes Of The Civil War
Civil War noun a war between political factions or regions within the same country. The regions in the
Civil War of 1860 that took place in 1860 1864 were the North and the South. They had different
beliefs that eventually sent them into war. The 3 main causes of this civil war were: states rights,
economy, and most importantly, slavery.
The first of the three main causes is states rights. The south believed they had the right to take their
slaves to the new states being admitted into the Union. In the secession document written by the State
of Virginia, it says, Powers granted under the said Constitution were derived from the people and To

From the article, Economics and the civil war Schulman points out, Southern planters were concerned
that high tariffs might make their European trading partner, primarily the British, raise prices on
manufactured goods imported by the south in order to maintain a profit on trade. The south were
afraid of high tariffs since they could hurt them financially in business (Schulman). Also from the
article 1828 Tariff of Abominations Alchin says The South, who had once favored Henry Clay s Tariff
1816 and his American System which financed the construction of new roads into the west, now
opposed both. To explain, The south were originally for the Tariff and American System but now did
not like either since they help them and only hurt them (Alchin).
The view on tariffs was much different in the north though, they viewed them as good and helpful
since the tariffs did not really affect them other than help. In the article, Economics and the Civil War ,
Schulman states In the North, however, high tariffs were viewed favorably because such tariffs would
make imported goods more expensive. Tariffs that were high would promote American goods by
making European goods seem more expensive (Schulman). The article 1828 Tariff of

The Egyptian Reserve Heads Essay
Introduction Khufu s reign in the beginning of the Fourth Dynasty marks one of the greatest periods of
change in funerary monumental construction. The careful planning of his complex at Giza extended
from the Great Pyramid itself to the satellite cemeteries that would eventually hold the members of his
family and his administration. It is in this temporal and geographic space that a puzzling find, unique
to the Pyramid Age, appeared. The Egyptian reserve heads, well sculpted depictions of human heads,
have remained an enigma since their first finding. Funerary anomalies, their composition,
characteristic features, and placement have sparked multiple theories about their significance within
the private funerary cult and within Egyptian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This term has since been commonly adopted to refer to the heads as they have been the subjects of
articles, lectures, and one very complete study by Roland Tefnin. While many musings and theories
have been put forth to explain the presence and purpose of the heads, no previous work has attempted
to combine the archaeological contexts with objective descriptions of the heads themselves. Tefnin s
work is impressive in its detail, yet he spends little time discussing the archaeological context beyond
general geographic position. Reisner and Junker, who excavated the majority of the tombs containing
reserve heads, published the heads with their context. Nevertheless, neither included the heads or
contexts excavated by the other. Luckily, the methodologies employed by both Reisner and Junker
were ahead of their time. Thanks to their careful publication, it is possible, at least to some degree, to
discuss the contexts with confidence. With the publications of the other excavators, the situation is not
as auspicious. Similarly, the heads themselves are often described in romanticized terms meant to
capture the character of the person portrayed. Even more recent scholarship frequently generalizes
about the features extant on the heads. This subjective,

Thor is a great example of a hero, and the movie is the exact definition of a hero. Hero s not only look
out for themselves, and save themselves from danger, they also keep the people closest to them save
and out of danger. Thor encompasses the qualities society values the most, his physical appearance, as
well as his arrogance, but his caring qualities at the same time. How exactly is Thor a hero you might
be asking, it is quite simple: He is a revered warrior with a troublesome personality and is hugely
arrogant, which is the reason he gets sent down to earth and he come to heal with a healthy dose of
humility, he also saves a city, saves his homeland of Asgard, and uncloaks his brother Loki s schemes.
Thor has many personal issues he needs to resolve and overcome, but his heart is not one of those. He
certainly does not lack heart in the film. He shows so many instances of heart and laying it all out on
the line for himself and his friends. However, he is very hard headed and prideful which he lets get the
best of him sometimes. Those two reasons are exactly why he was banished from his homeland
Asgard by his father Odin. In the beginning of the film, thor is being formally recognized as the crown
prince of Asgard, as he was the next to be the king of Asgard when his father passed away, which his

With the rapid development of media technology, media convergence has become an irreversible

deeply influenced human economic activities, social structure and cultural forms. Jenkins called it
convergence culture . This article will take WeChat as an example, and

At the same time, WeChat also reflects one of the most common forms of communication
interpersonal communication. Communication theory (Denis McQuai,2005) holds that, the biggest
characteristic of interpersonal communication is two way communication, the flow of information
between the promulgator and the receiver is a two way interaction At the same time, the roles of
sending and receiving are changing, there is no clear boundaries. This feature has been a clear and
comprehensive expression in the dissemination of WeChat. In WeChat s we media setting, users can
switch between the two roles of sender and receiver at any time, and the boundaries between the two
are gradually blurred.
Convergence of media tactics between new media and old media
(Rich Gordon, 2003)Convergence of media tactics do not require the merger of media ownership, it
usually refers to the full cooperation in content and marketing between television, newspapers, films,

How We See and Read Images
How We See and Read Images
Can advertisement qualify as a work of art? This question can bring different answers depending on
how each individual argues. In my own understanding, advertisement qualifies as art because
advertisements are meant to capture the audience attention. Art and beauty attract the attention of the
mind through the eye. John Berger, an English art critic, novelist, painter, and poet tried to explain the
way human beings view things and how this is affected by our knowledge, beliefs and what they
assume to be right. He explains that what we see has been recreated or reproduced. Berger points out
that the woman s body portrayed by different people has changed over time, for instance, in early
1500 1900, visual art was characterized by oil painting and after 1900s photography came in place and
became the main medium of visual art.
Susan Bordo in Beauty (Re) Discovers the Male Body, focuses on nudity. This was in her times the
trending subject although it is not seen in our current times where male nudity is found almost
instantaneously. In her times, her understanding towards nudity was restricted towards male nudity.
This was because women were itemized in almost all of our cultures and had become a daily
observation to see images of nude women or something close to that. During her times, it was difficult
to see nude male figure in an advertisement or art.
The two different essays by Bordo and Berger in regards to how we see and read images are both

the novel, after Jurgis has run away fromm his family, become an alcoholic, and homeless, he
accidently stumbles upon a political meeting where he is first introduced to socialism. When he first
gets to the meeting, he enters just to sit and rest until someone encourages him to listen to the speech.
To his surprise, the speaker is pointing out the terrible conditions that workers face each day.
Additionally, he talks about how capitalists grind most workers into capitulation. Jurgis has never
heard anyone speak so vividly of the realities he was facing each day, causing him much joy. This was
the first time a political party was in favor of the working class rather than the privileged and wealthy.
Sinclair does an excellent job of developing the theme of reform from capitalism to socialism. As he
speaks to Ostrinski, a Lithuanian speaking socialist, he is informed that just because America is
politically free doesn t mean there is no wage slavery . When Jurgis finds a new job, under a socialist
boss, Sinclair makes it obvious that this is a much better political party than capitalism since Jurgis is
making thirty plus dollars each month. This new wage is nothing compared to the amount he was
making before. Throughout the novel capitalism is portrayed as a destructive form of government
while Sinclair promotes socialism. Another major reform that

Tom Hank Rhetorical Analysis
The first thing most people think of when they hear the name Tom Hanks is a toy cowboy, but there is
so much more to him. He has a lot more to tell the listeners then just how to get beyond infinity; he
can tell listeners how anyone can change the world. Hanks gave a commencement speech at Yale
University in 2011 to the graduating class. Hanks talks about how, even through fear, anyone can
change the world for the better. He emphasizes that people should work to make the world better
instead of posting and tweeting everything people do in the hopes to become famous. Hanks uses a
little bit of ethos and pathos when he used his credibility as a famous person to make the graduates
listen, an example of ethos, and uses pathos to not only make ... Show more content on

Tom Hanks uses logos to show that with hard work, anyone can change the world for the better. Logos
is a literary device that proves a point through the use of logic. Hank s first example of logos was
when he told his personal story where his friend s uncle told his friend he would pay for his education
as long as he wanted to stay in school. The reason for this is because when a person gets their first job,
said person will work the rest of his life. Hanks also stated, On spring days like today, it is traditional
for us to ponder the state of the world and implore you all to help make it a better place which implies
that things are somehow worse today than they were when we were sitting where you are right now. I
am not so sure the planet earth is in worse shape than it was 30, no 18, no four years ago. (Hanks).
Because rushing into things is not always the best idea, Hanks used a personal connection to show
this. The uncle knew that if his nephew just rushed into his life and did not go to college, it would do
more harm than help. This is the same when working to change the world. People cannot just jump
into things;

Why Does Shakespeare Use Comedy In Hamlet
Shakespeare uses comedy in many of his books, plays, and movies. Although this comedy is not
explicitly shown throughout his works, they are hidden in order to provide a release from all of the
tension/drama of all of the tension in his writing. In this play/book, Hamlet (the main character) uses
comedy in order to relax or calm himself while going through a rough patch in life. Many of the other
characters used the same method in order to take away from the tension. All throughout this
play/book, the characters used comedy in different ways, yet they still are a breakaway from the focus.
Beginning in Act 2, Scene 2, lines 164 178, Hamlet proclaims that Polonius is a fishmonger for selling

This entire scene was majority about how the gravediggers feel about Ophelia s death and other

commit such a horrible action. It is strange to see gravediggers who enjoy this particular job so much
that they even play with the dug up bones of past people. Hamlet did not take the news of Ophelia

Hamlet is having a conversation with Horatio and Oscric. This quote is illustrated in Act 5, Scene 2,

Nabokov s Lolita And Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho
Vladimir Nabokov s novel Lolita and Bret Easton Ellis s novel American Psycho both show the stories

Humbert from Nabokov s Lolita is a middle aged man who has an obsession with young girls around
the age of twelve. Patrick Bateman from Ellis s American Psycho is an incredibly narcissistic,
egotistic, man who is an investment banker by day and serial killer by night. Both men have had a

Smoking Causes And Its Effects On College Students
Introduction
Smoking cessation programs have been made available on college campuses in order to promote
better health of smokers and non smokers alike, as both smokers and non smokers are affected by the
effects that cigarettes have on their physical health. Cigarette smoke is one of the leading causes of
death in the United States. Cigarettes are linked to many health problems such as:
Smoking causes stroke and coronary heart disease, which are among the leading causes of death in the
United States.
Even people who smoke fewer than five cigarettes a day can have early signs of cardiovascular
disease.
Smoking damages blood vessels and can make them thicken and grow narrower. This makes your
heart beat faster and your blood pressure increases. Clots can also form.
A stroke occurs when:
A clot blocks the blood flow to part of your brain;
A blood vessel in or around your brain bursts.
Blockages caused by smoking can also reduce blood flow to your legs and skin.
As provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention ( Health Effects of , 2017).
Although, tobacco use in the United States has decreased over the past twenty, Cigarette use is
currently high among college students. These results were proven by students, from about twelve
Texas universities or colleges, that took an online survey. This survey concluded that instead of
restricting the use of tobacco universities and colleges should concentrate on enforcing education and
smoking prevention programs reduce the use of cigarettes by students.
There are many smoking cessation programs available and in many available to enable schools to
create a smoke free environment a great number of which are cost effective. such as those based

The Lie Society s Living
A man opening his front door with a briefcase in his hand, yells, Honey I m home! after a tiring day at
work has been shown in many movies and TV shows in America, but is this an accurate representation
of our society life today? Is it men who is still the head of the house or has society changed throughout
the years? Is the struggle of women being seconded with making decisions a valid point? Stephen
Marche s article Home Economic: The Link Between Work Life Balance and Income Equality
presents the argument that the major struggle in domestic life isn t men versus women or mothers
versus fathers; it s the family against money (1). Marche s ideas in the article are only a small step in
the right in the right direction, but are correct in his verdicts (might change word).
Marche begins explaining his take on the article Why Women Still Can t Have it All? by Anne Marie
Slaughter s and the book, Lean In, by Sheryl Sandberg (Need explanation) (2). He believes that it is
odd men are not in the picture with the discussion of work and life and concludes that the decision
made in a family must be made together (2). Marche describes the book Lean in to show aspects of
false hope, since work and talent alone cannot bring someone closer to success for both men and
women (2). After reading the article Why Women Still Can t Have It All?, he thought of the many men
that may have it all (qtd. in 3) who, in reality, do

How Did Robert Peary Achieve His Goals
To move forward in life, our main focus should be conquering our fears and achieving our goals.
Robert Peary is a great example of this. On April 6, 1909, Peary conquered the world and achieved his
lifetime goal of reaching the top of the world, the North Pole. He prepared for this goal all of his life,
through school and work after college. He did much research and took many voyages to explore. He
did not reach the Pole on his first try, but he persevered. After many long journeys and great
challenges, he finally achieved his goal and made his mark on the world. We should work just as hard
as Robert Peary did to overcome challenges in life and achieve our goals. Robert Peary was born on

disheartening to come home to civilization. Upon his return, he discovered that Frederick Cook, a man

Pole a year earlier that him. Peary was stripped of his glory until two Eskimos who were with Cook on

great achievement warranted. After losing eight toes to the Arctic cold and aging prematurely because

The Movie And Critique Of Beauty And The Beast
Beauty and the Beast was an amazing musical, many say it was much better than the movie. Just like
the movie. It starts off in a faraway land, with the Young Prince who lived in a shining castled. The
prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind. An old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a
single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the Prince
sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. The old woman warned him not to be deceived by
appearances, for beauty is to be found within. And when he sent her away again, the old woman s
ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The Prince tried to apologise, but it was too
late. As punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the
castle and all who lived there. The Rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose. If he could learn
to love another and earn their love in return before the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. If not,
he would be doomed to remain a Beast for all time.

The Harm in Low Carb Diets
Low carb diets are basically anti carbohydrates diets. Low carb diets make you eat fewer carbs than
most doctors would suggest. While the experts recommend that adults get about half of their calories
from carbs, low carb diet limits the eating of carb to10 percent of daily calories consumed. Before
going anti carb, lets know what they are. Carbs are very important nutrients in food. They are the body
s main energy source, supplying energy for everyday activities and making sure everything from your
muscles to brain is working properly. Not all carbs are nutritious. Good ones are processed and are full
of vitamins and minerals, for example: whole grain pasta and bread, veggies, and fruit. Bad ones come
from foods like white bread and sugary sweets, which are full of calories and don t have a lot of
nutritional value. There are many many low carb diets. the most popular ones include Atkins, Dukan,
Eco Atkins, Medifast, the Paelo and the South beach diet. In my opinion the Atkins diet is the most
popular because of it results: Notice that the difference of time is about 3 weeks The Atkins diet is diet

vaccination is a critical venture in securing your child against a scope of genuine and possibly deadly
diseases. Immunizations are brisk, safe and greatly powerful. Once your child has got vaccinated
against an infection, their body can battle it all the more effectively. In the event, that a child is not

a) Measles is not something of the past, nor is it a sickness constrained to creating nations. Today
measles is one of the main sources of death of children around the world, regardless of the
accessibility of a shabby, powerful antibody.
b) Just in 2013, measles has officially killed more than 100 children in Pakistan, almost 20 children in
Nigeria, and sickened more than 2,000 children in China. In 2012, the United Kingdom reported the
most elevated number of new cases in 18 years. The U.S. reported an incredible 222 measles cases in
2011, up from a normal of 60 cases (Centers for Disease Control Prevention 168).
c) The World Health Organization (WHO) reported 158,000 measles deaths in 2011. That is 430
deaths consistently. The measles virus is especially contagious; sullied droplets, spread through
hacking and sniffling, stay alive and irresistible outside the body for up to two hours. Assessments say

time which I cannot change. My assignment group was very fortunate as we didn t face any conflicts
within our group. However I am aware that there could have been many different types of conflicts
such as; different personality issue, different point of views or some people just don t get along which
leads to dysfunctional conflict (Huczynski Buchanan, 2007), this can of course affect the productivity
of a team or individual. I now realised that we all focused on everyone s feelings of how fairly they

treated equally, respected and to feel part of the team because in my opinion that makes a strong
relationship between the team members and it avoids conflicts. Overall if I reflect back on our group
work I believe we worked very well as a team and my contribution to the group was significantly high

Kierkegaard s An Age Of Dispassionate Reflection
Soren Kierkegaard, in his essay, the Present Age, writes about two ages the passionate age and the
present age: an age of dispassionate reflection. Kierkegaard believes the present age to be centered on
reflection (deliberation, representation, anticipation), which substitutes for decisive action. The present
age, according to Kierkegaard is characterized by an unhappy objectivity, in which the individual has
become leveled down and loses himself as part of a crowd. One aspect of this unhappy objectivity is
that our age is an age of reflection rather than of passion. Kierkegaard suggests, the most dangerous, if
also the most respectable of all diseases is to admire in public what is considered unimportant in
private since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is dangerous because in the act of doing so, we lose our true selves in the process. Kierkegaard
strongly believes in the idea of individuality. If individuals (as individuals) take it upon themselves to
experience first hand meaningful action and informed opinion (which is risky) they will gain
something precious. Yet, many would rather stay in the safety (and effortlessness) of the public and
live meaninglessly.
Kierkegaard uses the example of the skater to demonstrate his assertion of the most dangerous of all
diseases . The skater, on a frozen lake with dangerously thin ice, sees a jewel in the distance. In the
passionate age, he argues, the public would cheer and support the skater as he made efforts to reach
the jewel. They would worry for him and show concern at any sign of danger. However, in an age
absent of passion, the crowds would agree on the fact that it was unreasonable and not worthwhile to
engage in such a dangerous activity. In addition, they would praise themselves for being clever and
practical for figuring this out. The qualities of being daring and enthusiastic for something an
individual may be passionate about is malformed into a feat of skill, in which people are encouraged
to surrender to the most dangerous of all diseases : to admire in public what is

Throughout history religion has been used as means to justify actions and to control people. The two

This proves that once again he used the Priests of another religion for personnel gain in order to
enforce his will of his vast empire. Why didn t Cyrus enforce his own religion on to his newly claimed

bad start to show how people of color and whites can actually get along on the big screen. On the year
of 1939, the first African American television show called The Ethel Waters Showed. aired on NBC
for the first time ever. A woman by the name, Ethel Waters along with the African Americans actresses
Fredi Washington and Georgette Harvery performed a dramatic sequence from her hit play Mamba s
Daughters.(African American Registry) This played a big part within the African American
community being the first black television on air, because of this new start it will be the start of more
African Americans appearing on air and having more television shows and series. This will also show
the beginning of a start for African Americans playing a part along the whites producing ... Show more

This arugment can simply say no, due to the fact people will watch shows they will find more
relatable too. For example, The Proud Family, is an animated cartoon showing the life of an average
black teenager and the struggles and adventures with her family. Now this will be more relatable to
African Americans rather than whites due to the fact our lives would be considered more

Defining Naturalness And Its Impact On The Environment
IV. Defining Naturalness Another potential, but overall less effective, goal for conservation is
naturalness, which is also defined differently across the literature. Crumpacker (1998) describes three
components of naturalness, two of which the author argues are quantifiable. The first part of
naturalness is the degree to which the system would change if humans were removed (Crumpacker
1998). The next two components of naturalness are the amount of cultural energy that is required to
maintain the currently existing system and the number of native species that currently live in the
system in comparison to the abundance of species that lived in the area prior to European settlement
(Crumpacker 1998). Anderson (1991) describes naturalness as a continuum between complete
naturalness, which would be an ecosystem virtually unaffected by humans, and complete
unnaturalness, which would be an environment that is completely influenced by humans, such as a
city. This scale of naturalness is established by assessing the extent to which ecosystems have been
modified by humans and how much a damaged ecosystem would recover if humans were removed
(Anderson 1991).
Ridder (2007) also addresses two interpretations of naturalness that are similar to the definitions
proposed by Anderson (1991). One interpretation by Ridder (2007) is that naturalness refers to
processes that do not involve human intervention, which is similar to the spontaneous condition of
nature that would exist in the

Investing in the Stock Market
Investing in the Stock Market Matt Gonzales Abstract The purpose of this paper is to inform the
average investor of how to make money in the stock market. The stock market should be thought of as
a long term savings vehicle. Investing in the stock market should not be associated with gambling. By
investing in high quality U.S. companies, the investor in a company profits along with the company.
As a shareholder, when the company makes money, the investor also does. There are many ways to
invest in the stock market, but it is my opinion that investing in mutual funds is probably the most
appropriate way for the average person, without expertise in stock analysis, to make money. This
paper plans to inform the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if a person contributes $2,000 to their IRA, they will receive money back on their tax
return at the end of the year. If that person is in the 28% tax bracket, they will receive $560 back
($2,000 X 28%). The second type of IRA is known as Roth IRA. After tax money is contributed to the
Roth IRA, therefore the investor does not receive income tax money back at the end of the year, but
the beauty of the Roth IRA is that when the money is withdrawn at the time of retirement (age 70), the
profit is completely tax free, both state and federal (rothirarules.net, 2011). So, it is easy to see that the
Roth IRA is an excellent vehicle for retirement investing. It makes much more sense to use a Roth
IRA for retirement than a traditional one. With a 401k account, the money that is invested is referred
to as pre tax money. With pre tax money, this money is placed into the account before it is taxed. An
example of this would be if an individual earned $100 before it was taxed by the federal and state
governments, the entire $100 would be placed in the account to be invested. After tax money means
that the same $100 would first be taxed federally as normal income (usually 28%) and then taxed by
the state (usually 6%), to leave only $66 of the original $100 to now be spent or invested. In addition
to the tax advantage, the main benefit of the 401k is

The Arguments In The Downside Of Grit, By Alfie Kohn
The idea of grit is to be used to help students improve on goals they ve made, but in the The Downside
of Grit by Alfie Kohn he would argue that somethings are better left alone instead of trying to pursue
them and achieving them with little success. Kohn claims that grit can be counterproductive because
anyone could be continuing something that doesn t make them content with the outcome. He also
discusses about how people with grit could experience issues with psychological health when you try
over and over again and end up with continuous failure. It would be better to find an alternative
pathway that would cause less stress, and end with success. Another argument that Kohn has is against
the reliability of the research done on grit doesn t rely on evidence. It ... Show more content on

He also approaches the idea of creating a learning environment that help students explore ideas. This
would help students participate more in their education. Overall grit is used for students to develop
long term goals (Para 25). Seemingly students should explore their interest instead of following
through with a goal they might not enjoy. Kohn makes it clear that you shouldn t go through with a
goal if it doesn t give you satisfaction. Kohn also states that the motives of your goal should come first
before you take action. Kohn states that grit is applied more to students than adults for completing
academic goals, but fails to mention how grit can be applied outside of school. Alfie Kohn explains
that there is no point in continuing with a problem that has no solution, just like how you shouldn t
continue with a goal that doesn t give you contentment. I agree with Kohn that there s no point in
continuing with a task that doesn t feel worth it to complete, a point that needs emphasizing

  • 2. My Statement of Purpose for a Course on Networks and IP... Statement of Purpose Introduction From an early age I learned to look at challenges not as insurmountable problems, but as opportunities for continual growth, personal discovery, and ultimately achievement. This mindset of translating challenges pervades my academic career to this point, and in pursuing a Masters of Science degree I hope to challenge myself to the next level of academic and professional achievement. Networks and IP Security The innate strengths I have include the ability to create, critique and analyze algorithms for optimal performance, in addition to router ripping, protocol analysis and understanding of and interest in data structures and data models. I have excelled in the areas of electric circuitry design and components, and have also discovered an innate ability to troubleshoot problems from a systemic, highly focused standpoint. This ability to view entire networks and the Internet from a very detailed, systemic standpoint has also helped me to excel in related studies of programming, data structures and algorithm development. The study of security has been based on the insights gained from viewing the many functional areas of networks through the perspective of fault tolerance, authentication, advanced connectivity and the development of data structures that enable communication and collaboration (Adams, 1986). My passion is in the area of computer networks and security, which is an area I will continually strive to excel in, relying on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Key Characters In King Schariar And His Brother Through the presentation of the central characters and subtle yet clever methods of telling the story and conveying its themes are some of the key reasons King Schariar and his Brother is so engaging to all its readers, and perhaps why it has stood the greatest centuries long test of time. Firstly, the character of King Schariar, the namesake of the story: We are first introduces to him in the context of being his father s son, who was one of the best monarchs of his time . The state of the Sassanidae dynasty is said to be prosperous , powerful and all the King s subjects peaceful and content, supportive of their monarch. This shows in his dialogue with the grand vizir, wherein he utters almost nothing but threats of violence. The stark contrast between who the Sultan once was with who he has become is so colossal and near unbelievable it implores us to carry on reading, especially as Scherazade enters the picture. Our first grasp at who Scherazade is comes through the voice of her , the grand vizir. She is beautiful, rich and highly educated, so naturally we would expect her to behave as most other women of her stature would snotty and spoilt. Only she is the furthest thing from. We see her spark of courage and perseverance in the conversation she has with her father. Her words are polite, reverent, imploring him to grant her wish, as opposed to begging or demanding. In this, we learn of her linguistic aptitude, her ability to bend the will of those whom she speaks to whatever she wants. She is powerful in her words and her wit powerful in the same way Schariar is with his corrupt violence. The parallels and contrasting juxtaposition between Scherazade and King Schariar are intriguing, since they are such different people. Their skills in manipulation equal each other in strength, yet their motives and platform for that power does not. As I have mentioned before, Scherazade achieves her power through her words, Schariar through exploiting his royal standing as King. This comes out in the narration: We see very little of Schariar verbally commanding or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Managed care conglomerates provide health coverage for increasing numbers of Americans. Many critics question whether these businesses provide care dutifully. At the very least, the present managed care system requires health care providers and recipients to reexamine established principles underling physician patient interaction. These payments are arranged per diem, by capitation, or sometimes by fixed salary. Many critics of managed care believe that these compensation packages are immoral. What Health Care Is Now In order to ascertain the merit of managed health care, ethical presuppositions guiding our health care system require consideration. In the United States, four main principles undergird the way health care is practiced. These principles are: beneficence, nommaleficence, autonomy and justice. Beneficence is the obligation of health care providers to render help to people in need. Just as health care workers are called to provide care, they also have a duty to do no harm. This principle is commonly called nonmaleficence. At times, the possibility of doing good may result in injury. Therefore, the principle of beneficence and nonmaleficence do not always concur. Thirdly, the principle of autonomy allows patients to make choices regarding their health care. In other words, health care providers should allow patients to make the final decision regarding their treatment plan. Finally, justice refers to the ethical concept of treating everyone in a ... Raleigh imitates Marlowe extremely well, but there is a telling difference that can be noted in some places; Raleigh uses a rougher alliteration of sounds like hard c and t to give his poem a more mocking, satirical bent. This is especially prominent in the second stanza of Raleigh s poem; while Marlowe s second stanza has the softer alliterative sounds, Raleigh s stanza moves stiffly with the c sounds in complains of cares to come (8). The metrics of Raleigh s poem are also in and of themselves a direct reply to Marlowe s. Raleigh uses the same iambic tetrameter that Marlowe uses, organizing the poem into four line stanzas composed of two rhyming couplets each. He achieves an oddly mocking tone with the meter because of the words involved. Although the words still flow because of the regular meter, they are decidedly less romantic and are juxtaposed with the meter. Examples of this are the harsh alliteration in complains of cares to come (8) or the rolling, soft sound that wayward winter s reckoning yields (10). An old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the Prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. The old woman warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is to be found within. Kierkegaard believes the present age to be centered on reflection (deliberation, representation, anticipation), which substitutes for decisive action. The present age, according to Kierkegaard is characterized by an unhappy objectivity, in which the individual has become leveled down and loses himself as part of a crowd. In the passionate age, he argues, the public would cheer and support the skater as he made efforts to reach the jewel. They would worry for him and show concern at any sign of danger. • 42. Defining Naturalness And Its Impact On The Environment IV. Defining Naturalness Another potential, but overall less effective, goal for conservation is naturalness, which is also defined differently across the literature. Crumpacker (1998) describes three components of naturalness, two of which the author argues are quantifiable. The first part of naturalness is the degree to which the system would change if humans were removed (Crumpacker 1998). The next two components of naturalness are the amount of cultural energy that is required to maintain the currently existing system and the number of native species that currently live in the system in comparison to the abundance of species that lived in the area prior to European settlement (Crumpacker 1998). Anderson (1991) describes naturalness as a continuum between complete naturalness, which would be an ecosystem virtually unaffected by humans, and complete unnaturalness, which would be an environment that is completely influenced by humans, such as a city. This scale of naturalness is established by assessing the extent to which ecosystems have been modified by humans and how much a damaged ecosystem would recover if humans were removed (Anderson 1991). Ridder (2007) also addresses two interpretations of naturalness that are similar to the definitions proposed by Anderson (1991).
