2. • ENTREZ – is a molecular biology database and retrieval system
developed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information
(NCBI).
• It is an entry point for exploring distinct but integrated databases.
• Retrieval of huge and ever increasing database is one of the
important task for users in bioinformatics.
• It provides access to all NCBI databases simultaneously with a single
query string and user interface.

3. Background of Entrez
• In 1991, Entrez was introduced in CD form.
• In 1993, a client-server version of the software provided connectivity
with the internet.
• In 1994, NCBI established a website, and Entrez was part of this initial
release.
• In 2001, Entrez bookshelf was release and in 2003, the Entrez Gene
database was developed.

annotated genetic sequence information , citations , abstract full
papers
• It uses Boolean operator

• Open Google /chrome
• Type -Entrez
• Select Entrez from upper panel
• Type any biological gene or protein
• Click search
