Compare And Contrast Smith And The Economist
In reviewing both articles in detail, there are clearly a multitude of differences between them. As such,
the one that stood above all others, was the level of in depth analysis. When it comes to the scholarly
article (Evan Smith ,published in Journal for cultural research, 2013), there was a long in depth
quantification of the entire topic, he mentions the social aspects of riot psychology, also how simple
protests can turn into full blown riots and even including social media and how it made things worst
(via Blackberry cell phones). As compared to, The Economist media article (May 2, 2015, writer
anonymous), which gives the general feeling that the writer is attempting to sum up events, in a timely
and very concise way. This can be seen by the fact that no more than a paragraph was spent on a single
subject of the piece. By doing this they attempt to keep the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This topic has personal resonance with me and is something that will always be up for debate, while
definitely being something to keep a look out for in the future. During Smiths article, he goes into
great detail to look at things from both perspectives, never taking a side, always remaining unbiased.
While reading Smiths article it was fascinating that even though, as a species, humans have evolved a
higher level of consciousness, we still in moments of anger, lash out unjustly, even against our own so
called communities. The media article also touches on how we may never fully comprehend or justify,
how looting and destroying stores and buildings, both you and your family have spent your whole life
visiting, is a way of rebelling against those who have aggrieved you. The media article also touches on
how social media can cause a larger backlash. As seen through social media and it s groups, which can
be formed without ever seeing or even knowing a person

Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay
Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services
(LBSs) and Geo Social Networks (GSNs) significantly increase the exposure risks of location
information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location privacy preserving methods are
designed to provide a specified level of privacy based on some pre defined privacy guarantees such as
k anonymity and e differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users would need different
privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated with the users of the exposed
location data. For instance, users of a location based social network may need a smaller privacy
protection level in interaction with their close friends and a larger privacy protection level in
relationship with public users. In this paper, we present a privacy aware access control model that
provides different location privacy protection levels based on various access control list of users. The
proposed privacy preserving access control model not only preserves the confidentiality of access
control policy but also provides an efficient mechanism for grant and revoke of authorizations.

Short Story On Han s Dinner For The Night
❝What am I tryin t do?❞ Han echoed without much thought, ❝ m tryin to get some dinner. Gimme a
minute, would ya?❞ image Beyond any doubt, it was an honest answer. It was an inadequate answer,
and they both knew it, but an answer nonetheless. Han was trying to get his dinner for the night. If
anything, Anakin should have gotten the karking idea by now. After all, he had said it himself. ❛ 퐘퐨

Han provide that wasn t him laying himself bare? It was likely that there was a lot. Except, Han never
once fit into the category of communicative . At the same time, Han was genuinely at sixes and sevens
over the matter himself, continually lost as to why. An answer he didn t want to question for he didn t

It was easier that way. Easier to process things. He needed a moment anyway. His eyes trailed back to
the fryer once more, right when the vendor slapped a hearty coating of powdered sugar over the

when the smell of sparkbee honey hit him. Drizzled over the top with another layer of sugar, Han all
but drooled. The redolent scent ignited memories of adolescence faster than his weary mind could
summon. Nearly lost to the frantic upsurge of recollection, Han almost missed how she d finished up
and handed him the wrapped pastry with a pleased smile. He eyed her in return, scrutinizing as he so
often did. Ah, she must ve thought he had his eyes on her rather than the sweetbread. ❝Thanks,

The Glossopharyngeal Nerve
Introduction The glossopharyngeal nerve (CN IX) is one of the twelve major nerves, known as the
ninth paired cranial nerve, it is a nerve that varies on both efferent motor and afferent sensory
information. Most cranial nerves originate from the medulla, and branches off to their respective
anatomical areas where they function. This cranial nerve is a general mixed nerve that innervates the
oropharynx, some parts of the ear cavity and one third of the tongue for taste sensation, while at the
same time provides motor functions for the stylopharyngeus muscle of the pharynx; it also provides
parasympathetic innervation to the parotid glands. The different sensory, motor, and parasympathetic
functions residing in this nerve will be illustrated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The glossopharyngeal (IX) and vagus (X) nerves provide perception for all other taste receptors
located in the pharyngeal and oral epithelium (Kanwal, Caprio, 1983). The tympanic nerve arises as
the nerve traverses the jugular foramen from the glossopharyngeal nerve. It goes through and pierces
the temporal bone to gain entrance to the cavity of the middle ear. Here, it forms the tympanic plexus a
network of nerves that provide sensory innervation to the middle ear, internal surface of the tympanic
membrane and Eustachian tube (The Glossopharyngeal Nerve (CNIX) 2015). The glossopharyngeal
nerve terminates by splitting into several sensory branches: Pharyngeal branch, with the combination
of vagus nerve structures, stems out as a webbed like structure called the pharyngeal plexus. It
innervates the mucosa of the oropharynx (The Glossopharyngeal Nerve (CNIX) 2015). While the
Lingual branch provides the posterior 1/3 of the tongue with general and taste sensation, the Tonsillar
branch on the other hand forms a network of nerves, known as the tonsillar plexus, which innervates
the palatine tonsils. Motor

The South As Defined By The Crops Grown Within The...
The South as Defined by the Crops Grown Within the Plantation System
John Shelton Reed asked, The South: Where is it? What is it? (Reed 1994, 5). This paper will define
the American South by the crops grown within the plantation system from the American Colonial
period through the end of the antebellum period. The South has been an economically distinctive
region reflected by the historic dominance of the plantation system.
For this paper, the crops grown within the plantation system include tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane,
and cotton. Tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton were valuable plants and grown as cash crops.
Cash crops, as opposed to subsistence crops, are specialized crops that are grown to be sold for profits
and not used for personal use on the plantations. Plantation owners had no trouble transporting their
crops because of the many waterways in the Southern colonies that made it made it easy for ocean
going ships to tie up at plantation docks. A plantation is defined as a large piece of land (or water)
usually in a tropical or semitropical area where one crop is intentionally planted for widespread
commercial sale and usually tended by resident laborers.
Let us begin by discussing the weather, wrote U. B. Phillips in 1929. (Reed 1994, 7). The weather, that
distinguished Southern historian asserted, Has been the chief agency in making the South distinctive.
It fostered the cultivation of the staple crops, which promoted the plantation system,

Psychoactive Drugs Can Be Defined As Any Chemical Substance
Psychoactive drugs can be defined as any chemical substance, whether it be of a synthetic or of an
organic nature, used with the purpose of altering an individual s psychological state of mind, mood or
perception (Gossop, 1993, cited in Saggers Gray, 1998). According to Fleckenstein, Hanson Venturelli
(2014), drugs are allocated into two categories consisting of illegal and legal. Illegal drugs usually
consist of hallucinogenic substances such as marijuana (however, can be used for medical reasons),
crack cocaine, ecstasy and others. The law prohibits use of these substances and can also result in
social stigma. On the other hand, legal drugs consist of substances such as coffee, tobacco, alcohol
and over the counter (OTC) drugs, to a high extent these drugs are usually socially accepted and the
effects are inconspicuous if used in moderation.
Statistics of drug use amongst youth in the UK
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NHI) (2012a), deaths regarding drug use has
doubled since the 1980 s, furthermore it is stated that there are more illnesses and disabilities from
drug abuse than any other avoidable health condition. There are many reasons why young people may
choose to indulge in the risky behaviour that is drug use. Individuals may feel pressured by their peers,
take this action out of curiosity or use it as a method for dealing with physiological or psychological
problems (Better Health, 2012). A study performed by Miller and Plant (1996) in 1995

Comparing The Attitude Of Satan And Jesus In Paradise Lost
Many examples exist that contrast the attitudes of Satan and Jesus. Paradise Lost is one such example
that displays the negative attitudes of pride, hate, and rebellion that Satan has. On the contrary, the
Bible is an excellent source that shows Jesus attitudes of humility, love, and submission.
Firstly, Satan had an attitude of pride in Paradise Lost. One example of his pride was when he said he
desired, being the contrary of His high will. This shows his pride because Satan just wants to
contradict God. Another example of pride was when Satan said, to be weak is miserable, implying that
serving God, the Creator of all things, was a sign of weakness. A final example of Satan s pride was he
said it was, better to reign in hell then serve in Heaven. This also shows that Satan viewed serving
God as undesirable. However, the Bible shows Jesus has the quality of humility. This is shown in
Luke 4:24, when it said, Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his home town. This shows
humility because Jesus could have demanded the respect he deserves, but he did not. Instead he
allowed himself to be shut out and rejected. Another example of Jesus humility came from Matthew
20:28a, even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve. This clearly shows humility because
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior came to serve. Similarly, John 13:5a says, Then he poured water into
a basin and began to wash his disciples feet, again showing servanthood instead of Lordship.
Secondly, Satan had the attitude of hatred. This is shown when he said, farthest from Him is best. This
displays that Satan does not want to be anywhere God is which is why God created hell, as a place
where Satan can dwell without God s presence. Another time hatred was shown was when Satan said,
ever to do ill our sole delight. This paints a picture that Satan hates people so much that the only way
he is happy was when people suffer. Although Satan hates everyone, Jesus is full of love for people.
This is shown in John 14:2b, which says, In my Father s house are many rooms. If it were not so,
would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? This shows Jesus love because he has gone
to Heaven to prepare a place for

Changing Attitude Towards Child Sex Preference
CHANGING ATTITUDE TOWARDS SEX PREFERENCE AS OLD AGE SECURITY AMONG

Abstract
This paper focuses on the intensity of preference for sons over daughters in anticipation of old age
security both physically and financially, and its impact on the care and support/ well being of the
elderly in Nigeria in general, and in particular among the Yoruba of Southwest. The paper examines
the impact of social change on child sex preference as old age security. Before delving into the theme
of the paper, the concept of social change was briefly discussed. The reasons for having children
generally are discussed, child sex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, an older person who was hard to get along with is more likely to lack support than the
cheerful old person who gets along well with family and neighbours (Peil, 1991). All these are
important variables, which determine whether individuals will receive adequate care and support from
family and society. It is evident from the various literature that, very little attention has been paid to
older people of modern industrializing societies of the world. In Nigeria for example, as well as in
most developing countries, the need to plan for the welfare of older persons has received very little
attention. There are clear evidences of lack of formal social support services for older people in
Nigeria, such as Social Securiy, Pension, Health Insurance Scheme, Old Peoples Home, etc. One of
the explanatory factors arises from the belief that the existing extended family system generally
protects and provides for the welfare of old people in rural and agricultural societies. Hence, where an
older person is childless, his/her brothers or sisters or even the children of his siblings are believed to
be responsible for his/her maintenance. This may not be unconnected with why most policies,
programmes and projects in the developing countries such as Nigeria have been concentrated on the
children and the youths at the expense of older persons in the country. Both national and international
organizations are seen working tirelessly

Who Is Hester Prynne In The Scarlet Letter
In a famous novel called The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne receives many
criticisms for being portrayed as a pure character. Among those criticisms, literary critic D. H.
Lawrence provides a powerful and reasonable explanation to why Hester Prynne does not deserve
such admiration. Additionally, Lawrence facilitates his viewpoints by arguing that Hester Prynne is the
cause for the sin of adultery. D. H. Lawrence applies precise diction, biblical allusion, and dramatic
verbal irony in his essay to emphasize Hester Prynne as the character who should be recognized for
her offense. Lawrence uses precise diction to express his negative attitude towards Hester Prynne.
Hester Prynne is an atrocious influence to others as Lawrence states, Oh, Hester, you are a demon. A
man must be pure, just that you can seduce him to a fall (Lawrence). Lawrence implies the word
demon to accuse Hester for seducing an innocent man, Arthur Dimmesdale. Lawrence depicts Hester
as the leading cause for this sin of adultery and generates a mocking perception for the ... Show more

H. Lawrence s essay to make connections with Hester Prynne in religious aspects. Lawrence describes
Hester as another Magdalen (Lawrence) to create a relationship between the two characters. Magdalen
is known as the unclean and unprotected biblical character like Hester, who is full of sin and evil
spirit. Using such references not only supports his argument, but it additionally helps the audience to
comprehend with an effective understanding of the context. Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale
can also be portrayed as the new Adam and Adama (Hawthorne). Hester is viewed as Adama, who
deludes Adam to eat the apple with her, as Adam falls blindly and foolishly into her trap of persuasion.
Using such examples from the ancient mythological characters help Lawrence to write with strong
emotions that characterizes the disapproval of Hester

Report on Refugee Rights in Australia
Background of Refugee Rights Political Movement
Since 2000, both the refugee rights political movement in Australia as a whole as well as the
Australian National Committee on Refugee Women (ANCORW) have primarily been focused on key
issues such as the differential treatment of asylum seekers based on how they arrived in Australia or
apply for protection, the Pacific and Malaysian solution, the detention of asylum seekers and
combating the view that boat arrivals are not genuine refugees . Although there are many other
concerns, the issues listed above are the major ones.

In addition to that, ANCORW raises money to enable refugee women in Australia to attend these
conventions to advocate for the needs of their communities on behalf of all refugee women.
Educational Resources
As a means of raising awareness in the general public about the lives of refugees, in 2009, ANCORW
launched an education resource which highlights the inspiring contributions and successes of refugees
settling in Australia. Title, Celebration of Refugee Lives : Stories of Strength and Resilience , it
contains a film, book and short training program. The aim of this education resource is to enhance the
public s understanding of refugee experience and to dispel the exaggerated myth that refugees only
bring negative social and economic problems.
Improving Settlement
In 2010, ANCROW and the CRR initiated a project to explore the difficulties faced by refugee
families and identify steps to improve family settlement outcomes. Past projects found that the issues
of family conflict, violence and separation in settlement have become one of the most pressing
problems experienced by refugee families settling in Australia. This is exacerbated by other challenges
such as inadequate and overcrowded housing, language difficulties, unemployment and trouble
adjusting to a new culture. This project aims to research these problems and provide

My Favorite Class
I wake up at 7:35 a.m. everyday. I take a shower, after that I get dressed; then I go downstairs and
make myself breakfast. I eat and then go back upstairs and brush my teeth. Finally, I leave for school,

then we walk in together. Seminar is easily my favorite class of the day because I have a couple of my

Emma. Me and Cameron have been friends since middle school, and we used to hang out almost
everyday. Now, Cameron has a girlfriend so he doesn t hang out with me anymore and it makes me

Causes And Effects Of Tsunami
Imagine enjoying a peaceful day on the beach when, suddenly, the ocean recedes leaving a large
portion of ordinarily covered shore exposed. Curious children and even adults hurry to look at this
rarity. They spend a few minutes admiring the sea shells and ocean creatures that are normally
concealed from view by the sea. Suddenly, a wall of water comes rushing back, devouring everything
in its path. This scenario depicts the typical sequence of events during a tsunami. On December 26,
2004, this tragedy occurred on the coast of Southeast Asia. This tsunami was spawned by a large
underwater earthquake (Larson). Catastrophes like these wreak havoc and devastation upon coastal
communities, thus resulting in billions in property damage, which harm the environment and destroy
human life. Both earthquakes and tsunamis release unleash powerful forces that have devastating
effects on Earth.
Earthquakes are the direct result of an abrupt release of energy beneath Earth s surface. This discharge
of tension is typically caused by the movement of tectonic plates. As plates move past one another, the
faults, or boundaries of the plates, come into contact. The rough and often jagged edges of faults cause
the plates to generate friction, or a resistance to the movement that is caused by rough spots on their
surfaces catching against each other (Silverstein et al. 43). The friction between the tectonic plates
builds up until it is finally released in the form of seismic waves. There are

Prejudice And Racism In Moby Dick By Herman Melville
In the novel Moby Dick by Herman Melville, there is an untold truth about racism. The whiteness of
the whale and Ishmael s relationship with Queequeg suggest more than what meets the eye. Moby
Dick was written approximately 10 years before the Civil War in America, a time when the fight over
race was more relevant than ever. Although some may argue that race cannot be argued in Moby Dick,
an article from The Massachusetts Review says, the novel is a a floating Babel of racial types
(Bernard). The order of the Pequod demonstrates the hierarchy of race in the world at this time. Due to
the focus on the whiteness of the whale , the broad mindedness of the characters, and the secondary

and poor, the rise of tourism benefited them greatly. I selected this work because it has bright but at

Less business regulations have been the key to success in the state and namely in the metropolitan

businesses there is only a gross receipts tax; people and companies are moving to the major cities in

Solution Focused Brief Therapy And Its Goals
This paper defines the Solution Focused Brief Therapy and its goals, strategies and techniques. This
approach focuses on individuals devising solution for problems rather than solving problems. Solution
building is a collaborative effort between therapy and client. SFBT concentrates on the clients
strengths and resources and belief that the therapist is not the expert but rather client is the expert.
SFBT was developed by Steve De Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg and their team at the Brief family
Therapy Center in Milwaukee doing the 1970 s. This approach is directed for immediate relief from a
problem using a range of techniques such as; the miracle questions, pretherapy change, exception
questions, summary feedback and scaling questions. The desire of this approach is for the therapist
and client to form a partnership in order to create personal meaningful goal that will guide the therapy
process in a short period of time. Attention is mainly given to affirm what the client is doing and what
the client and working that will lead to a better future. The central concept of SFBT is a movement
from talking about problems to talking about and creating solution. Therapy is kept simple and brief.

United States Involvement In WWII
Despite the disadvantageous effects of Japanese s surprise attack, this event directly correlates with
the United States involvement in World War II, in turn, providing a strong contributing arm to the
Allied forces. Although the war began with Nazi Germany s attack on Poland in September 1939, the
United States did not enter the war until 1941, after the Japanese bombed the American army fleet in
Pearl Harbor (Tames, 2006, 28). Conversely, President Franklin D. Roosevelt worked hard to prepare
Americans for a conflict, which he regarded as inevitable, before formally being involved. (Tames,
2006, 28). The Japanese believed that a surprise attack would eliminate America from joining the war,

The sleeping giant had been awoken, and in America, a sense of fury now accompanied the
mobilisation for war of the world s most powerful economy (History.co Staff, 2015). The losses at

war, all previous discussions against joining the war were forgotten. President Franklin D. Roosevelt
prepared his nation for battle and announced, We will gain the inevitable triumph. So help us God.

Essay on Hit Song Science
1. What value does Hit Song Science create? If you were Mike McCready, CEO of Polyphonic, which
target market unsigned artists, producers, or record companies would you pursue? Before we analyze
the value Hit Song Science creates, we should be clearly aware of the substance of Hit Song Science.
Hit Song Science refers to comparing the mathematical characteristics of music with characteristics of
past music hits to determine a song s hit potential. From my point of view, the value Hit Song Science
creates can be classified into two aspects technology and business. On the technological level, Hit
Song Science is an advanced technology in that it mixes music and math which cannot be perceived as
relevant in a daily life. It is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Producers are in the same situation. Inside producers only receive salary plus some royalties as
compensation. While outside producers received a production fee and negotiated a royalty of 1% to
5%of the suggested retail price. Production fee varied dramatically, which means the production fee
producers received depends most on the level of the producers themselves and the level of the artists
they helped. However, they were only about 20 to 30 top producers who may receive so high
production fee that they would like to pay for Hit Song Science. Other producers with low or
relatively low production fee may not be willing to pay for Hit Song Science out of their slender
income. It makes sense that famous artists prefer top producers who can help them make a hit and in
turn, receive benefit from the hit. If artists, unsigned artists and producers only received a small
portion of income from music, the biggest winner in the process of recording activity is record
company. Managers and talent agents alone extract between 25% and 40% of a performer s income.
Record labels have the ability to pay for Hit Song Science. More importantly, they want to forecast
sales levels for the titles in their portfolios. Based on the high market size of record labels and the
necessity to forecast whether a song can become a hit via Hit Song Science due to high releasing fees,
polyphonic should pursue

Everyman-a Medieval Play Review
A Review of The Summoning of Everyman
Summary
Everyman is a play which was written to express the importance of morality, to whoever read it or
experienced it being performed on stage. Some scholars say that it was written sometime in the late
1400 s, while others insist that it is a translation of a Flemish work called Elckerlijc , which was
written by Peter van Diest in 1495. Everyman is an allegory play which is heavily based upon
Christian religious perspectives; also it is resoundingly similar to the Christian belief of the
resurrection of Christ, and his ascension into Heaven, after the crucifixion.
The first act of Everyman, opens with a prologue which takes on the form of a ... Show more content

This play has received a moderate amount of popularity over the past near 500 years; and now today
there are some scholars and researchers whom are exceptionally critical, both positively and
negatively, of the details as to how it was written.
One criticism of note would have to be one which was voiced by Thomas F van Laan. In referring to
the general premise of Everyman, he contends of the writer that His speech is essentially negative; he
focuses solely on the inevitability of death and the destructiveness of sin . Simply put, Mr. van Laan is
stating that at first, the sole purpose of this work appears to emphasize specifically on death and how
mankind should feel only sorrow for anything that they do, which goes against the teachings of
Christianity.
Another criticism of this work which Mr. van Laan refers to is the point in the beginning when God
first speaks. Mr. Van Laan states: Gods words are wholly negative in force, implying only the
difficulty to come, omitting any indication of hope for mankind . Mr. van Laan is voicing this
criticism on the opening section of the play, fundamentally about how he considers Gods words to be
too negative in their approach. In expressing this condemnation, Mr. van Laan is adamant about his
beliefs that God would probably not be so disconcerting in his approach to dealing with mankind.
However not all that Mr. van

Owning Exotic Pets Research Paper
Currently, in the pet market, a very prominent issue is present. Should private citizens be legally
allowed to own exotic pets? Owning exotic pets is dangerous, expensive, and cruel. The average
human should not be allowed to own exotic pets. In the first place, owning an exotic pet can be a risk
to your safety. The size of the animal does not determine how dangerous it is. In the article Do You
Really Want A Baby Tiger? the author Mia Lewis states It s not just big cats, poisonous snakes and
chimpanzees that can be harmful even smaller exotic pets can cause serious injuries. How dangerous
exotic pets can be is just another reason why they should not be owned by private citizens.
Along with being dangerous, exotic pets are also very expensive. Buying exotic pets is costly enough,
but they also require a great deal of money to maintain. A strong, large, sturdy habitat must be built for
the animal along with buying large amounts of food. On page 7, paragraph 3, Lewis states If keeping a
dog can be time consuming and costly, that s nothing compared to a adult lion or chimpanzee. Aside
from the cost of keeping a exotic pet, they need lots of of time and frequent attention that most people
simply don t have. Exotic pets being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Importance of Financial Ratios
Important Financial Ratios in Investment Analysis
Introduction
Financial ratios are derived ratio numbers from the financial statements of a company. Depending on
the task, financial ratios can serve to various purposes in accounting, legal, M A uses, etc. For
investors, financial ratios are very powerful in two ways: indentifying the company s unique
competitiveness and evaluating its stock price level. The first part helps investor find a truly valuable
company and the second part helps investor buy the stock at a bargain price.

In general the more liquid the current assets, the less the margin needed above current liabilities
(Graham, Meredith, p.34, 1998). The quick ratio is more descriptive than the current ration since it
excludes the inventory. For example, Apple, Inc. at the end of Sep 2010 has total current assets
$41,768m with cash and cash equivalents of $11,261m and total current liabilities $20,722m. The
current ratio of Apple is 2.02 and quick ratio 0.54, which are quite superior compared to other
industrial players (Table I). Obviously, we will have no wonder about Apple s profitability when we
are playing with an iPhone 4.
Profitability Ratio
Profitability ratios are direct signs of the company s business strengths. Return on equity is perhaps
the most important goal in operating a company is to earn net income for its owners (Wild, Shaw,
Chiappetta, p.697, 2008). A stable and higher than industry average ROE affirms that the company has
long term competitive advantage in its products or services over competitors that will ensure its future
earning and growth prosperity. The ROE of Apple is 35.28%, which win the top place in the personal
computer sector. It is worth mentioning that professional investors widely employ the so called
DuPont model, which is the net margin times total assets turnover times equity multiplier to compute

Creative Deed Project Analysis
Creative Deed Reflection Paper: Method and Response Initially, I was apprehensive about
participating in the Creative Deed Project because I was unsure of what type of artwork to create and
who to give the final product to. Also, finding time to produce a piece of artwork that I found
acceptable to give to others seemed like another obstacle that I would have to face. However, once I
came up with a more structured plan about approaching this project, things started to fall in place.
Through this reflection paper, I will describe the methods I used to carry out this project and changes I
went through resulting in my participation. The Creative Deed Project utilized in this Introduction to
Art Therapy class was adopted from the Creative Deed Project 365, which was established by a
registered art therapist named Gretchen Miller. Originally, the guidelines for this project involved
creating artwork on 3 x 5 inch note cards; however, I decided to make postcards instead so that I could
reach more individuals who lived outside of my range of accessibility. Also, except for my parents, I
did not notify any of the recipients that I would be sending them a piece of artwork. I feel that
anonymity was an important component to my process because I wanted the focus of the benefits to be

Refugees In Ann Coulter s Essay
Dread, terror, and fear, creeping through the walls, continues to corrupt American morals, minute by
minute. With the onslaught of the Paris attacks, the question of whether or not America should accept
more refugees now governs over American politics, originally a question that does not need
questioning. Recently, Ann Coulter, an extreme conservative, posted an article named Importing
Terrorism and Other American Values regarding America s vetting process and America s obligation
towards refugees. Within her article, she ventures to devalue the vetting process and denounce
refugees and immigrants alike as crime carriers. Although her argument appears both logical and
reasonable superficially, Coulter not only fails to cite her sources, but also demonstrates consistent
mastery of logical fallacies, misuse of evidence, and shallow knowledge regarding immigrant and
crime statistics. Coulter begins her article quoting President Obama, who referred to the rejection of
refugees as, a betrayal of our [American] values (cite1). She raises concerns over the lack of
protection for American citizens stating, Contrary to Obama s laughable reference to the universal

which may work for the general reader who may not have time to research. This cheap shot by Coulter

The Nature Of Love In Plato s Symposium
Plato s Symposium discusses the ever present, complicated, and enigmatic idea of love. Throughout
the book, each speech gives diverse and sometimes contradictory ideas on the nature of love, its
benefits, its origin, and the different types of love. Each speech builds on ideas that will lead to the
conclusion made in Diotima s speech.
Phaedrus is the first to give his speech. He says that Love promotes virtue in people, and gives them
courage. Because people want to impress their lovers and avoid shame, they will strive to act
honorably and bravely. The power of love is so strong that if there was a city comprised of boys and
their lovers, it would be the best possible system of society, for they would hold back from all that is
shameful, and seek honor in each other s eyes (10). Phaedrus emphasizes the power of love by saying
that a city founded on love would be of the highest quality.
This introduces the idea of love being a powerful motivator, therefore setting the foundation for the
ladder of love mentioned in Diotima s speech. Phaedrus is the first to introduce the idea that love
motivates people to strive for higher ideals. In his speech, the ideal is esteem in the eyes of a loved
one. Later on, more ideals such as wisdom and order will be mentioned. This will develop into the
climbing of the ladder of love, as mentioned by Diotima.
Next, Pausanias says love is not inherently good or bad. It depends on how it is performed. There are
two kinds of love: Common Aphrodite and Heavenly Aphrodite; one is just about sex, while the other
is a transaction in which a boy gives sexual favors to a man in exchange for wisdom and
enlightenment. The former type has potential to be bad, and is less valuable because it focuses on the
body more than the soul, and...the least intelligent partners (14). Pausanias places all favor on the
latter type because it focuses on what is by nature stronger and more intelligent rather than base
desires (14).
This sets the foundation for the hierarchy of the aforementioned ladder of love. According to Diotima,
the more advanced kind of love is the love of knowledge, which is what a young boy receives through
Heavenly Aphrodite. At the bottom of the ladder is the type of love

the people think the country needs.
The second step to creating the federal government budget is the House and Senate pass budget

for making budget decisions about spending and taxes. In this process they set limits but do not create

HI administration when it took over in 2002 fizzled not just to communicate with the RDH
administration and its staff additionally they did not try to see if the employees understood the
directions and policies, since it was a whole new scenario. In order to reach the international status or
five star Hotel status. Hotel International started taking changing few established policies of Roaring
Dragon Hotel, though the intention was to succeed, but those policies resulted in loss and also did not
help to improve the quality standards, main cause being conflict between the employees of RDH and
HI management.
After RDH was taken over by HI, and since it was a Chinese hotel the its relationship with the
families was given more importance and they were treated friendly with respect, (Grainger, 2008) but
after the contract everything changed, they were not treated friendly which led to depression among
the employees. RDH staff was facing lots of issues like working for long hours under HI and they
were feeling the pressure and fear of being laid off in case they don t work and much of the staff
which was working for past 30 years had to speak in English, all these factors also lead few of them to

Perseverance Book Report
This year, I came across a book titled Perseverance! The Story of Thomas Alva Edison (Murray,
1997). This book is a short timeline of Thomas Edison that highlights his many achievements along
with his many failures in his pursuit of accomplishment. I read this to my students in hopes they
would recognize the importance of having the courage to take a risk and the resilience to keep trying.
My students loved this book and we referred back to it throughout the year. In combination with a
growth mindset, I encouraged them to take risk, even though it might result in failure, and learn how
to persevere. I agree that there is a decline in the measure of grit in today s classroom, but also
recognize that a teacher can promote and encourage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will admit this is something I have expressed my opinion about as well. My kids are very involved in
sports, especially competitive baseball. I have mixed feelings about this. When competing in a
tournament, there are no participation medals or such thing as third place. I have two boys, both with
different levels of self confidence, and see not only the difference in their attitude, but also in how I
respond to their disappointments. Is this fair? I am not sure it is, but in one child I am still developing
resilience and determination, and in the other I am further building on his desire to achieve. I have
raised them both with the same values and have supported their self worth the same, however, where
one is lacking in courage and resilience, the other has endurance and drive. My eldest boy is not
confident and is afraid of failure. I often add yet when encouraging him to try again. He is prone to
give up and assume there is no chance of success. My youngest son is determined, confident, and
driven. I find myself using the term next time quite often and not really focusing on the individual
aspect. This begs to question, how is grit cultivated? As discussed in our text, the affective domain
represents a time for emotional development and coping strategies (Kostelnik, Soderman, Whiren,
Rupiper, 2015). During this time, it is essential that teachers are able to recognize a child s emotions,
help to develop resilience, and promote self worth. Providing an environment where children feel safe
to take a risk in the classroom and feel confident to try again in the face of

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Smith And The Economist In reviewing both articles in detail, there are clearly a multitude of differences between them. As such, the one that stood above all others, was the level of in depth analysis. Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services (LBSs) and Geo Social Networks (GSNs) significantly increase the exposure risks of location information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location privacy preserving methods are designed to provide a specified level of privacy based on some pre defined privacy guarantees such as k anonymity and e differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users would need different privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated with the users of the exposed location data. For instance, users of a location based social network may need a smaller privacy protection level in interaction with their close friends and a larger privacy protection level in relationship with public users. In this paper, we present a privacy aware access control model that provides different location privacy protection levels based on various access control list of users. The proposed privacy preserving access control model not only preserves the confidentiality of access control policy but also provides an efficient mechanism for grant and revoke of authorizations. The Glossopharyngeal Nerve Introduction The glossopharyngeal nerve (CN IX) is one of the twelve major nerves, known as the ninth paired cranial nerve, it is a nerve that varies on both efferent motor and afferent sensory information. Most cranial nerves originate from the medulla, and branches off to their respective anatomical areas where they function. This cranial nerve is a general mixed nerve that innervates the oropharynx, some parts of the ear cavity and one third of the tongue for taste sensation, while at the same time provides motor functions for the stylopharyngeus muscle of the pharynx; it also provides parasympathetic innervation to the parotid glands. The glossopharyngeal (IX) and vagus (X) nerves provide perception for all other taste receptors located in the pharyngeal and oral epithelium (Kanwal, Caprio, 1983). The tympanic nerve arises as the nerve traverses the jugular foramen from the glossopharyngeal nerve. It goes through and pierces the temporal bone to gain entrance to the cavity of the middle ear. Here, it forms the tympanic plexus a network of nerves that provide sensory innervation to the middle ear, internal surface of the tympanic membrane and Eustachian tube (The Glossopharyngeal Nerve (CNIX) 2015). The glossopharyngeal nerve terminates by splitting into several sensory branches: Pharyngeal branch, with the combination of vagus nerve structures, stems out as a webbed like structure called the pharyngeal plexus. It innervates the mucosa of the oropharynx (The Glossopharyngeal Nerve (CNIX) 2015). While the Lingual branch provides the posterior 1/3 of the tongue with general and taste sensation, the Tonsillar branch on the other hand forms a network of nerves, known as the tonsillar plexus, which innervates the palatine tonsils. (Reed 1994, 5). This paper will define the American South by the crops grown within the plantation system from the American Colonial period through the end of the antebellum period. The South has been an economically distinctive region reflected by the historic dominance of the plantation system. For this paper, the crops grown within the plantation system include tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton. Tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton were valuable plants and grown as cash crops. Cash crops, as opposed to subsistence crops, are specialized crops that are grown to be sold for profits and not used for personal use on the plantations. Plantation owners had no trouble transporting their crops because of the many waterways in the Southern colonies that made it made it easy for ocean going ships to tie up at plantation docks. A plantation is defined as a large piece of land (or water) usually in a tropical or semitropical area where one crop is intentionally planted for widespread commercial sale and usually tended by resident laborers. Let us begin by discussing the weather, wrote U. B. Phillips in 1929. (Reed 1994, 7). Psychoactive Drugs Can Be Defined As Any Chemical Substance Psychoactive drugs can be defined as any chemical substance, whether it be of a synthetic or of an organic nature, used with the purpose of altering an individual s psychological state of mind, mood or perception (Gossop, 1993, cited in Saggers Gray, 1998). According to Fleckenstein, Hanson Venturelli (2014), drugs are allocated into two categories consisting of illegal and legal. Illegal drugs usually consist of hallucinogenic substances such as marijuana (however, can be used for medical reasons), crack cocaine, ecstasy and others. The law prohibits use of these substances and can also result in social stigma. On the other hand, legal drugs consist of substances such as coffee, tobacco, alcohol and over the counter (OTC) drugs, to a high extent these drugs are usually socially accepted and the effects are inconspicuous if used in moderation. Statistics of drug use amongst youth in the UK According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NHI) (2012a), deaths regarding drug use has doubled since the 1980 s, furthermore it is stated that there are more illnesses and disabilities from drug abuse than any other avoidable health condition. There are many reasons why young people may choose to indulge in the risky behaviour that is drug use. • 8. Comparing The Attitude Of Satan And Jesus In Paradise Lost Many examples exist that contrast the attitudes of Satan and Jesus. Paradise Lost is one such example that displays the negative attitudes of pride, hate, and rebellion that Satan has. On the contrary, the Bible is an excellent source that shows Jesus attitudes of humility, love, and submission. Firstly, Satan had an attitude of pride in Paradise Lost. One example of his pride was when he said he desired, being the contrary of His high will. This shows his pride because Satan just wants to contradict God. Another example of pride was when Satan said, to be weak is miserable, implying that serving God, the Creator of all things, was a sign of weakness. A final example of Satan s pride was he said it was, better to reign in hell then serve in Heaven. This also shows that Satan viewed serving God as undesirable. However, the Bible shows Jesus has the quality of humility. This is shown in Luke 4:24, when it said, Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his home town. This shows humility because Jesus could have demanded the respect he deserves, but he did not. Instead he allowed himself to be shut out and rejected. Another example of Jesus humility came from Matthew 20:28a, even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve. This clearly shows humility because Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior came to serve. Similarly, John 13:5a says, Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples feet, again showing servanthood instead of Lordship. Secondly, Satan had the attitude of hatred. This is shown when he said, farthest from Him is best. This displays that Satan does not want to be anywhere God is which is why God created hell, as a place where Satan can dwell without God s presence. Another time hatred was shown was when Satan said, ever to do ill our sole delight. This paints a picture that Satan hates people so much that the only way he is happy was when people suffer. Although Satan hates everyone, Jesus is full of love for people. This is shown in John 14:2b, which says, In my Father s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? This shows Jesus love because he has gone to Heaven to prepare a place for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, an older person who was hard to get along with is more likely to lack support than the cheerful old person who gets along well with family and neighbours (Peil, 1991). All these are important variables, which determine whether individuals will receive adequate care and support from family and society. It is evident from the various literature that, very little attention has been paid to older people of modern industrializing societies of the world. In Nigeria for example, as well as in most developing countries, the need to plan for the welfare of older persons has received very little attention. There are clear evidences of lack of formal social support services for older people in Nigeria, such as Social Securiy, Pension, Health Insurance Scheme, Old Peoples Home, etc. One of the explanatory factors arises from the belief that the existing extended family system generally protects and provides for the welfare of old people in rural and agricultural societies. Hence, where an older person is childless, his/her brothers or sisters or even the children of his siblings are believed to be responsible for his/her maintenance. This may not be unconnected with why most policies, programmes and projects in the developing countries such as Nigeria have been concentrated on the children and the youths at the expense of older persons in the country. Among those criticisms, literary critic D. H. Lawrence provides a powerful and reasonable explanation to why Hester Prynne does not deserve such admiration. Curious children and even adults hurry to look at this rarity. They spend a few minutes admiring the sea shells and ocean creatures that are normally concealed from view by the sea. Suddenly, a wall of water comes rushing back, devouring everything in its path. This scenario depicts the typical sequence of events during a tsunami. On December 26, 2004, this tragedy occurred on the coast of Southeast Asia. This tsunami was spawned by a large underwater earthquake (Larson). Catastrophes like these wreak havoc and devastation upon coastal communities, thus resulting in billions in property damage, which harm the environment and destroy human life. The rough and often jagged edges of faults cause the plates to generate friction, or a resistance to the movement that is caused by rough spots on their surfaces catching against each other (Silverstein et al. 43). • 24. Everyman-a Medieval Play Review A Review of The Summoning of Everyman Summary Everyman is a play which was written to express the importance of morality, to whoever read it or experienced it being performed on stage. Some scholars say that it was written sometime in the late 1400 s, while others insist that it is a translation of a Flemish work called Elckerlijc , which was written by Peter van Diest in 1495. Everyman is an allegory play which is heavily based upon Christian religious perspectives; also it is resoundingly similar to the Christian belief of the resurrection of Christ, and his ascension into Heaven, after the crucifixion. The first act of Everyman, opens with a prologue which takes on the form of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This play has received a moderate amount of popularity over the past near 500 years; and now today there are some scholars and researchers whom are exceptionally critical, both positively and negatively, of the details as to how it was written. One criticism of note would have to be one which was voiced by Thomas F van Laan. In referring to the general premise of Everyman, he contends of the writer that His speech is essentially negative; he focuses solely on the inevitability of death and the destructiveness of sin . Simply put, Mr. van Laan is stating that at first, the sole purpose of this work appears to emphasize specifically on death and how mankind should feel only sorrow for anything that they do, which goes against the teachings of Christianity. Another criticism of this work which Mr. van Laan refers to is the point in the beginning when God first speaks. Mr. Van Laan states: Gods words are wholly negative in force, implying only the difficulty to come, omitting any indication of hope for mankind . Mr. van Laan is voicing this criticism on the opening section of the play, fundamentally about how he considers Gods words to be too negative in their approach. In expressing this condemnation, Mr. van Laan is adamant about his beliefs that God would probably not be so disconcerting in his approach to dealing with mankind. However not all that Mr. van ... Owning exotic pets is dangerous, expensive, and cruel. The average human should not be allowed to own exotic pets. In the first place, owning an exotic pet can be a risk to your safety. The size of the animal does not determine how dangerous it is. In the article Do You Really Want A Baby Tiger? the author Mia Lewis states It s not just big cats, poisonous snakes and chimpanzees that can be harmful even smaller exotic pets can cause serious injuries. How dangerous exotic pets can be is just another reason why they should not be owned by private citizens. Along with being dangerous, exotic pets are also very expensive. Buying exotic pets is costly enough, but they also require a great deal of money to maintain. A strong, large, sturdy habitat must be built for the animal along with buying large amounts of food. On page 7, paragraph 3, Lewis states If keeping a dog can be time consuming and costly, that s nothing compared to a adult lion or chimpanzee. With the onslaught of the Paris attacks, the question of whether or not America should accept more refugees now governs over American politics, originally a question that does not need questioning. Recently, Ann Coulter, an extreme conservative, posted an article named Importing Terrorism and Other American Values regarding America s vetting process and America s obligation towards refugees. Within her article, she ventures to devalue the vetting process and denounce refugees and immigrants alike as crime carriers. Although her argument appears both logical and reasonable superficially, Coulter not only fails to cite her sources, but also demonstrates consistent mastery of logical fallacies, misuse of evidence, and shallow knowledge regarding immigrant and crime statistics. Coulter begins her article quoting President Obama, who referred to the rejection of refugees as, a betrayal of our [American] values (cite1). • 31. The Nature Of Love In Plato s Symposium Plato s Symposium discusses the ever present, complicated, and enigmatic idea of love. Throughout the book, each speech gives diverse and sometimes contradictory ideas on the nature of love, its benefits, its origin, and the different types of love. Each speech builds on ideas that will lead to the conclusion made in Diotima s speech. Phaedrus is the first to give his speech. He says that Love promotes virtue in people, and gives them courage. Because people want to impress their lovers and avoid shame, they will strive to act honorably and bravely. The power of love is so strong that if there was a city comprised of boys and their lovers, it would be the best possible system of society, for they would hold back from all that is shameful, and seek honor in each other s eyes (10). Phaedrus emphasizes the power of love by saying that a city founded on love would be of the highest quality. This introduces the idea of love being a powerful motivator, therefore setting the foundation for the ladder of love mentioned in Diotima s speech. Phaedrus is the first to introduce the idea that love motivates people to strive for higher ideals. In his speech, the ideal is esteem in the eyes of a loved one. Later on, more ideals such as wisdom and order will be mentioned. This will develop into the climbing of the ladder of love, as mentioned by Diotima. Next, Pausanias says love is not inherently good or bad. It depends on how it is performed. There are two kinds of love: Common Aphrodite and Heavenly Aphrodite; one is just about sex, while the other is a transaction in which a boy gives sexual favors to a man in exchange for wisdom and enlightenment. The former type has potential to be bad, and is less valuable because it focuses on the body more than the soul, and...the least intelligent partners (14). Pausanias places all favor on the latter type because it focuses on what is by nature stronger and more intelligent rather than base desires (14). This sets the foundation for the hierarchy of the aforementioned ladder of love. According to Diotima, the more advanced kind of love is the love of knowledge, which is what a young boy receives through Heavenly Aphrodite. At the bottom of the ladder is the type of love ... PRESSURE amount of force acting on a given unit of area and all pressure must be measured from some known references. BAROMETRICSCALE/KOLLSMAN WINDOW small window in the dial of a sensitive altimeter in which the pilot sets the barometric pressure level from which the altitude shown on the altimeter is measured. AIRSPEED INDICATOR A flight instrument that measures the differential between the pitot, of ram air pressure and the static pressure of the air surrounding the aircraft. BOURDON TUBE type ...
