PROGRESS TO MASTER'S AFTER PGCE
8. Our PGCE Online is worth 60 credits at Masters level, so upon successful
completion this summer students will have effectively achieved one third of a
Masters degree (60/180 credits). We have a number of options for topping up to a
full Masters degree. Below are the courses in our subject group and I am the
course director for them:
MSc Digital Pedagogy
This is a new course, developed by the tutors that have led your PGCE. It focuses
on key challenges and debates around digital learning and teaching as well
provides hands-on and current information regarding designing digital artefacts
and teaching materials.
It is delivered totally online (like your PGCE), and you can claim credit for your
PGCE against this MSc, leaving only 120 credits remaining to achieve.
MA Transformative Education
9. This too is a new course developed by the leadership team behind your PGCE.
Developed with experienced teachers in mind, the course requires you to
undertake and research a transformative intervention in your educational arena.
This will be context-specific, so might be implementing a new curriculum,
developing some digital tools for your students, implementing a new pastoral
system etc.. the possibilities are endless. It is delivered totally online (like your
PGCE), and you can claim credit for your PGCE against this MA, leaving only 120
credits remaining to achieve: in the case of this course the remaining 120 credits
would be achieved entirely through the completion of our ‘capstone project’ –
the submission of a dissertation proposing, examining and evaluating your
transformative intervention.
