This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Narrative About Being Reaped
In a bright sunrise that adumbrated the potential that lay ahead, a field of corn seized my
attention on one summer run. Staring into the cornfield, I pondered which ones would be
perfect enough to be reaped. I realized, however, that many of them would be abandoned,
because they succumbed to bugs, contracted diseases, or were just inferior. My life was eerily
representative of the plight of the corn. It all commenced with a perverse inquiry: Hilton Head
Island, a resort city on the Atlantic Ocean, is in what state? I was mortified. I had never
answered a question wrong in the school level geography bee before. Earning top twelve in the
states in fifth and sixth grade made me poised to possibly make Nationals that year, resulting in
high expectations from nearly everyone I knew. Hastily, I wrote down my best educated guess,
hoping that the boy I was facing (who incidentally bullied me incessantly throughout middle
school) would err as well. However, the corn in me that was about to be reaped was thrown on the
ground and forgotten.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My bully vanquished me and progressed to states, and my chances at a $25,000 scholarship

was inferior. The bully had taken control of my life, excluding me from the varsity math team
although my scores were better than half the team, and isolating me from all the friends I once
had, leaving me aloof everywhere I was. Suddenly, I was a failure, an unathletic nerd who wore
effeminate clothing, and a loser with no life. Mired in depression in subsequent years, I cried
almost every night, refused to eat, and lost all the confidence that I never had in me. I desperately
needed to find a new talent, one that could give me the identity I was sorely

once a news program with minimal drama and lots of information has now turned into a beast
hungry for drama with minimal information. This change in society has turned news anchors into
television celebrity s, and they re loving the attention. The television show 60 minutesis the oldest
and most watched news entertainment program. They get the real story on Americas most horrific

well rounded news station, people don t realize what they are really tuning into. 60 minutes has

5. Animal Pollution
The environment which we live in is polluted every single day. The carelessness of humans today is
further damaging the ecosystem in some ways, more identifiable than others. Factory farming is a
system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined
indoors under strictly controlled conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the
participation of the supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact
that the animalindustry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense meat
production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the animal food chain.
The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change. Factory farms
use a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals. One of the chemicals used
on factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel (oil and gasoline) releases a considerable
amount of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas,
formed from the remains of dead plants and animals. It takes, on average 11 times as much fossil
fuel to produce a calorie of animal protein as it does to produce a calorie of grain protein. In the
end, more carbon dioxide is released during the production of meat rather than the manufacturing of
vegetables and plants (Peta, p.1) Another toxic chemical that is often released into the atmosphere
because of factory

6. What Is The Character Of Dos Parablas
Belisa Crespusculario is a literary woman and without a doubt Isabel Allende s most convoluted
character in Dos parablas . The opening paragraph of the story, told in the past tense, starts the
reader off near the end where we immediately learn that Belisa was much more than a celebrated
travelling word smith. Set in a time and place where civil war ravaged the country an literary
skills were a rare sight, her importance in towns and villages throughout the land becomes apparent
: No necesitaba pregonar su mercaderГa, porque de tanto caminar por aquГ y por allГЎ, todos la

At the start of the story, her character is shrouded in mystery. The fact that she named herself
and travels the land selling words does not give much away about her. This is due to the fact that
the reader has only heard of Belisa and has no interactions to base opinions on. Upon further
reading, Allende begins to depict Belisa s horrific background and tells of how she became what
and who she is. At this point it becomes apparent to the reader that she indeed possesses two
important traits in abundance +: determination and stubbornness. It is with these characteristics
that she decided not to succumb to the same fate as her brothers and sisters. Belisa s interactions
with the coronel , the way she uses her gift with words to make him loved and the manner in
which she curses him with just two words , sum up her character. This again supports the
paradoxical theory that Belisa is both straightforward and highly complex. From one point of
view she is simply a highly skilled wordsmith, capable of engaging all audiences, perhaps only
because of her knowledge and exemplary use of words. The contrasting point of view is that Belisa
Crepusculario possesses a certain, almost otherworldly power. It is hard to completely summarize
the character of Belisa, although one thing is certain, Allende s protagonist can be viewed in many
contrasting manners, none of which

7. Roncarelli Vs Duplessis Case Study
Roncarelli v. Duplessis, [1959] SCR 121 Facts: Roncarelli, a Jehovah s witness and Montreal
restaurant owner, suffered a cancelled liquor licence ordered by Duplessis, Premier and
Attorney General of Quebec. The licence was revoked by the Liquor Commissioner of Quebec.
Roncarelli had posted bail for a large number of Jehovah s Witnesses after illegal distribution of
religious pamphlets. Roncarelli claimed that Duplessis had arbitrarily ordered the cancellation of
his liquor licence as punishment for helping the Jehovah s Witnesses. Roncarelli was told he was
forever barred from holding a liquor licence and warned about engaging in further activity with the
Jehovah s Witnesses. Roncarelli s licence was revoked in 1946. He was unable to maintain his
business and sold it six months later. Roncarelli sued Duplessis for... Show more content on

Was his decision a personal attack without legal justification? Decision: The Supreme court, in a
6 3 vote, found that the Duplessis did not act properly exercise his official authorities. Duplessis
had wrongly ordered the cancellation of Roncarelli s liquor license. Under art. 1053 of the Civil
Code, Duplessis was liable to damages. Reasoning: There was sufficient evidence to indicate that
Duplessis cancellation of Roncarelli s liquor licence was directly in response to Roncarelli s
actions regarding the Jehovah s Witnesses. Roncarelli did not act unlawfully, which could not
justify the revocation of his liquor licence. Duplessis actions could not be justifiable as he did not
operate on good faith of his official duties as the Premier of Quebec. Although the Commission
does possess the legal authority to revoke a liquor licence, it did so without reasonable
justification. This action was irrelevant to the actual sale of liquor in the restaurant and thus does
not lie within the scope of discretion as described in the Alcoholic Liquor

8. Macbeth Imagery Blood
Blood Imagery in Macbeth
Shakespeare s plays are well known for the richness of their imagery. This is particularly true in
Macbeth and the many allusions to blood. The use of blood imagery gives the reader some
foresight into what is going on in the play and how the characters are thinking and feeling. Blood
is used to represent heroics on the battlefield, evil and murderous inclinations, and ultimately guilt
and shame. Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to give the readers insight into his characters
as they change and are impacted by their choices and actions. This paper will demonstrate how
Shakespeare uses the image of blood as a symbol of bravery, guilt and evil citing directly from the
text of Macbeth. Act one Scene Two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth goes from being a heroic general in the king s army to an assassin and a tyrant.
Through the looking glass Macbeth seems as bloody as he could be, yet at the core he feels
unruly guilt Like a child, Macbeth attempts to run away from his problems, yet he has no where
to go. He now realizes what he has done is against his own morals, knee deep in guilt, and
attempts to figure out his problems with his wife. Blood symbolizes honor and bravery and also
guilt and evil.
In the beginning of the play blood is represented of honor and bravery and symbolizes good and
victory The play starts out with the 3 witches talking about Macbeth. Macbeth is now a great
hero because he led the Scottish army to victory. For the recognition of Macbeth s leadership he
becomes Thane of Cawdor. The witches make many predictions to Macbeth and they all come
true. Shakespear stated For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name Disdaining fortune, with
his brandished steel,Which smoked with bloody execution (I,2,16 18). This showed that the
Captain truly respects Macbeth and that he is a heroic soldier. Towards the middle of the play
blood represented guilt. At this point of the play. A bell trings and Lady Macbeth signals that the
chamberlains are asleep so Macbeth strides toward Duncan s chamber. Macbeth was pressured
into killing King Duncan by his wife,Lady Macbeth, and does not feel good about it. Shakespear

functions of JIT is that it uncovers the problems in production by keeping minimal items available.
With no pools of inventory the goal of JIT it to allow a smooth flow of production without any
kinks or waste. Since using the JIT system Space Age has uncovered a problem with its key
worker ED putting in to many hours due to a glitch in the production of part 3079.
In addition to the manufacturing problem Space Age is facing they are also in a dilemma regarding
the reduction of overtime costs and inventory costs. If the over time costs tend to lessen the
inventory costs, overtime costs would be higher and the employee would be unhappy. If inventory
costs reduce overtime costs then inventory costs would be higher than previous. Managers of Space
Age are in need of suggestions for tracking the job status and location during production. The
optimum mode of production needs to be identified and, some changes are required for creating
value for the company along with the customer. The master production schedule was given from

Silica mines the sand looks and feels like baking flour. They also have kaolin which is a white
type of clay. They try to stay away from working with the kaolin because it s sticky and hard to
deal with. They also do very little frac mining. The frac mining process has several steps. Before
frac mining can began all vegetation must be removed from the area. Then to reach the target
sandstone, all unwanted rock layers has to be removed. Thirdly the top of the sandstone has to
be exposed and since frac sand is cemented together explosive charges has to be placed inside
holes drilled near the edge of the mine so the sandstone can break into small pieces. Then loaders
are driven in to scoop up sandstones from near the wall of the mine pit. After the loaders scoop
up the sandstones they send the sandstones to a crusher which breaks down the large chunks into
individual sand grains. Sand grains are then washed to remove any unwanted particles. Once it
has been washed, it is stockpiled for drying, sorting, and the final shipment. After the final
shipment mine reclamation is started which is when the mined pit is filled back up with rocks
and other materials that were not used from the sandstones and the new surface eventually be
replanted. Regular sand mining at the U.S. silica is similar to this process except that there is no
need for the explosives process because the sand is already soft and comes apart

The Sapphires directed by Wayne Blair represents the theme of war throughout the film with the use
of cinematic techniques and setting. The Sapphires follows four aboriginal girls; Julie, Cynthia,
Gail and Kay on their adventure to Vietnam in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement and the
Vietnam War. The film follows the four girls on their journey around Vietnam performing for
American troops while fulfilling their dreams of becoming a famous singing group. Throughout the
film, Blair explores the theme of war through a variety of scenes and techniques. War ruins the lives
of many people and this is demonstrated through the film with the use of cinematic techniques,
setting and with the support of other themes. By exploring the theme of war, Blair is able to help
the audience make connections to the film through the events and setting the character s
experience. Wayne Blair depicts the theme of war with the scene of the girls arriving in Vietnam
and travelling to their camp. Through the use of setting, the devastation of war is displayed with
the change of scenery as they travel further within the country. When the girls and Dave are first
travelling through, the setting is bright and cheerful; they are happy and excited which is shown
through a medium long shot of the characters and their transport. As they travel further into the
country, the scenery changes as it becomes gloomy and is destroyed. Through the tracking medium

BASF interacts in the agriculture, automotive and transportation, chemical, energy and resource,
paint and coating as well as in the plastic and rubber industry. The company produces and sells

16. The Clash Of Civilizations By Samuel Huntington Essay
Samuel Huntington s controversial article The Clash of Civilizations? was first published in
Foreign Affairs in 1993 and was subsequently turned into a book in 1996 titled The Clash of
Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order. As this paper will show Huntington s work can be
seen as a product of the post Cold Warcontext it was written in. Huntington s article takes a new
perspective on the new world order and outlines a different way a thinking about how future
world conflicts will unfold. Since the initial journal article was published in 1993 there has been a
great deal of response from academics and also from Huntington himself. A majority of the
responses come in the form of critiques, with the authors offering their own insight into how the
post Cold War World will operate. Although the validity of Huntington s arguments have been
questioned, it did create a great deal of controversy in the academic world. As Huntington
explained in the preface of his 1996 book, the original article published in Foreign Affairs created
more discussion in three years than any other article published in the journal since the 1940s.
Huntington s initial article argued that in the post Cold War era the fundamental source of conflict
would not be ideological or economic, but cultural. He continues by arguing that nation states will
continue to be the most powerful actors in global affairs, but the conflicts of global politics that are
to occur in the future will happen between

By the 1970 s, numerous Americans were frightened that the Warren Commission had been so
resolute and did not make any endeavor to examine other conceivable hypotheses and guaranteeing

In opposition to this, the Washington examination reports demonstrate that the slug left from the
neck. Their report affirmed the single projectile hypothesis tended to by the Warren Commission
whose conclusion was exceedingly reliant on this hypothesis. This hypothesis was that a shot had
entered Kennedy s correct shoulder bone, wounded the strap muscles of the right half of the neck,
harming the windpipe and making its passageway through the front of the neck, it had entered
Governor Connelly s back, who had been situated before Kennedy, experienced his midsection

Governor Connelly accepted that the slug that injured Kennedy wasn t the same one answerable for

18. Compare And Contrast Jim Hawkins And Treasure Island
Finding money in an unexpected place always brings happiness to the finder; whether it is
money or treasure, everyone strives to get it. In the novel, Treasure Island by Robert L.
Stevenson, an old sea caption dies and Jim Hawkins discovers the captain s chest full of valuable
items, such as a treasure map. Upon finding the map, Jim Hawkins goes on an adventure to find
the treasure. In another novel, Kidnapped, also by Robert L. Stevenson, David Balfour has
returned to his hometown to obtain his father s inheritance, however, David s greedy uncle gets
him kidnapped. David goes on a journey to get back his inheritance from his evil uncle. In the
novels, the protagonists, Jim Hawkins and David Balfour, share similarities and differences. They
start their journey in different circumstances, but they are also similar because they share a theme
of coming of age. Lastly, both protagonists deal with men who try to kill them while on journey....

way Alan was after the battle, his sword was running blood to the hilt, and himself so swelled

seems to have obtained victory in his first battle. David changes because of his friend, although he

19. The Dependence On Fossil Fuels
Title Since the invention of the car over a century ago, people have become highly dependent on
fossil fuels. Over the past few decades it has become clear that this dependence has been having
disastrous effects on the environment, our health, our economy, and our future. Not only that, but
fossil fuels are a finite supply and once they are depleted, there is no getting more. If we are to
continue to thrive as a society, it is imperative that we reduce our dependence on non renewable
fossil fuels, and move towards renewable energy sources such as electricity, biofuels, and
hydrogen. Fossil fuels have been used to power our vehicles since the invention of the car in the
late 19th century. And with more people driving cars over the years, the total consumption of oil
has increased dramatically. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the
United States used 8.8 million barrels of gasoline (368 million gallons) a day for transportation in
2014 (Energy Information Administration). This is an alarming rate, considering the world only has
so much oil. The EIA has predicted that the world has enough oil to carry the industries that rely on
it through 2040 (Energy Information Administration). Beyond that, it is uncertain if we will have
enough oil, not only for transportation, but also for the thousands of other industries that depend
on it as their primary source of energy. Besides going scarce, another issue with relying on fossil
fuels for energy is

20. The Reform And Governmental Statistics On The United States
Since the passage of the ACA, a total of 14.1 million adults have acquired health insurance
coverage, however, a distinction must be made; the ACA was created to expand health insurance,
not to better health care (Office of The Assistant Secretary For Planning and Evaluation, 2015).
Texas being the number one state in all of the U.S. with more than 5 million Texans (19% of the
population) uninsured in 2014 (this was a decrease of 700,000 individuals in 2013) would be
expected to hold great support in order to lower the high rates of the uninsured (Walters, 2015). In

Medicaid is a system of inflexible mandates, one size fits all requirements, and wasteful,
bureaucratic inefficiencies. Expanding it as the PPACA provides would only exacerbate the failure
of the current system, and would threaten even Texas with financial ruin (Perry, 2012).
Perry s strong opposition to the ACA makes it questionable whether the reform is for the benefit of
the people or if it benefits the government monetarily. The current Governor of Texas, Greg Abbot,
stated his thoughts of the ACA by stating,
The Supreme Court abandoned the Constitution to resuscitate a failing healthcare law. Today s
action underscores why it is now more important than ever to ensure we elect a President who
will repeal Obamacare and enact real healthcare reforms (Office of The Governor Greg Abbott,
2015). Senator Ted Cruz also expresses his thoughts on Obamacare as being a manifest disaster
(Jones, 2015). On a live interview on the Road To The White House on C Span Senator Cruz states,
I think health care reform ought to expand competition, it ought to empower patients and it ought to
disempower government bureaucrats from getting in between us and our doctors. I think the best

24. Feudalism And The Middle Ages
Feudalism In The Middle Ages
When people conjure images of the Middle Ages, people think of chaos, war, and little
improvement. In fact, much of this is true. During the Middle Ages, a system called the Feudal
System was formed to maintain order. It might have made life tough for peasants, but it kept
nobles, or upper class people, rich and in power. The Feudal System greatly affected daily life for
everyone, but, in time, it collapsed.
The constant chaos of the Middle Ages caused the Feudal System to be invented. During this time
period, kingdoms in modern day western Europe were under constant threat from invading nations.
Most kingdoms had been too large to have just a single figure of power, so Feudalism developed.
Feudalism came mostly due to a single king s inability to protect his land by himself (King 26).
Another reason was that before the fall of the Roman Empire, an established and powerful
entity, the leaders of kingdoms had strong bonds with their people. When the Roman Empire
fell, there was no single strong power other than the Pope, and the ties between the leaders and
the people broke (Pei). Without these ties, people and their Lords weren t as friendly as before.
With no strong power in place, defenses were needed. This is how the Feudal classes came to be,
as knights swore to support their lord militarily and their lord swore to protect them (Pei). Because
of the constant need for defenses, classes formed: kings, to rule; lords, to control villages;

25. Limitations And Limitations Of Evolutionary Algorithms
LIMITATIONS OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS
Evolutionary algorithms are very promising problem solving techniques but at the same time, they
have a few limitations that can result in loss of efficiency.
Difficult parameter tuning: Any implementation of an Evolutionary algorithms will require the
specification of various parameters, such as population size, mutation rate, and maximum run time,
as well as the design of selection, recombination, and mutation procedures. Finding effective
choices for these is itself a hard problem with little to no theoretical support. In practice
researchers must rely on any available anecdotal reports from related problems, and lots of trial and
error.
No assurance of convergence: There is no assurance that the evolutionary algorithm will converge
to a global optimum. There is a possibility that it gets stuck in one of the local optima. This is the
reason why EAs cannot be applied to real time problems where the accuracy and validity of the
solution cannot be compromised.
Keeping in view, the advantages and limitations of evolutionary algorithms, following three
algorithms have been employed in this work for automatic generations of Quantum and reversible
classical circuits:

2.Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm
3.Hybrid Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm

27. Gender Roles And Expectations
Gender roles and expectations leave a massive, indirect impact on people of western culture. It
can limit both genders as to what they are socially allowed and not allowed to do. While most
believe that the roles appear natural, it is only because it is how they are raised to believe, not
because of biology. It is completely okay to believe and stick to genderroles on one s own terms,
but the issue lies when the individual is oppressed or harassed for straying from the subjective
social construct of standards. It affects a lot of western culture, making different people be able to
obtain different professions, wear certain clothing choices, have dominant or passive roles in
relationships, and be accepted as either more assertive and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Violation of gender role expectations are met with criticism and penalized (Prentice D.A., 26).
While penalizing can be imposed by others, it is mostly self imposed internally. Children as
young as two or three years of age are able to discern genders roles. In cross sex behaviors, females
crossing over are viewed more favorably compared to males crossing over. Socially, women can
be accepted wearing masculine clothing, while men are rarely able to been seen as feminine, such
as wearing a dress, without violence or being harassed. A prediction as to why females crossing to
male are view better upon than vise versa Feinman s differential hypothesis is based on the idea
that a woman s movement into the highly valued male role is more acceptable than a male s
movement into the less valued female role. Punishment for straying from gender roles are more
prevalent for those who do not identify with any gender. There is a problem in our culture if a set
of entirely subjective guidelines implement violence with those who do not follow them. Even
women who follow the traditional set gender roles suffer, as the construct is set to oppress women
to be subordinate to men. Women still manage to stick to their own set of beliefs and are

Are Lyrics Poetry or Meaningless Words? In society today, there are many arguments about
whether or not song lyrics should be considered poetry, or if the two are completely different in

some are written similarly to how poems are. Lyrics and poetryare similar in many ways,in
expression, how they are written and their purpose. A controversial argument is that many people
argue the fact that today music is not really meaningful so how can it be considered poetry? Well
in song lyrics, there is the creativeness of pulling in literary techniques to give the lyrics a deeper

Additionally, lyrics and poetry are used throughout the world to help others understand what
people are feeling. Even if people don t speak the same language, music and poetry makes them
feel that they do. It gives a sense of connection, even if it only is for three minutes. Even if you re
not looking at the phonetic part of a song lyric or poem, they both still have an impact. No

Keith is saying in these lyrics how nothing will bring America down. In a poem quite similar,
Hannah Schoechert says, Bin Laden tried To crush our land, But we stood our ground, With our

how well students learn while not physically in a classroom we need to evaluate how well learning
takes place in on line classroom environments. Skorton (2013) documented that an online course
has the potential to transform higher educations with substantial benefits for students, their
eventual employers, and participating communities. Therefore, evaluation of learning
environments indicates a real measure of the effectiveness of what is learned. Experiments have
shown the way that it is beneficial to a person s daily activities or student however; from
experiences, there should be a means to demonstrate what is learned. Did learning take place, at
least to meet defined objectives from a class or other learning environments? To me learning via
collaborative, instructional, and with a team of mixed backgrounds can promote a higher degree
(Jones 1995). My initial thoughts on this subject were that active learning seems to be a bit more
difficult in an online course that it would be sitting in an actual classroom with the personal and
physical interactions of others. That is unless there are sessions providing interactive, near real
time or live online classes. Learning in a classroom or while sitting at home on the couch accessing
classrooms through online resources is

37. The Italian Anatomist Gabriel Fallopius Essay
Gabriel Fallopius was one of the most noteworthy and respected Italian anatomists of the
sixteenth century. He was known as many things during his life time. Although, to this day, he is
well known for many of the great discoveries he encountered. During his lifetime of the 16th
century, many people didn t know much about the inside of today s reproductive system, how
they looked like, or what they were. Gabriel Fallopius inspired so many of his students to
continue researching in the medical field who later became famous medical professionals. Due to
his very successful accomplishments, we are able to learn and observe more of the women s body

proven good and protective during sexual activity after he successfully tested it on 1,000 men.
Another major discover that had a big impact in the whole world was (Bookrag.com) the accurate

described those resembling small trumpets. Without documentation (Yahoo Answers) about the
Fallopian Tubes and how it works, we wouldn t know much about it and the way it acts in the

38. The Republicn and a Brief History of Philosphy
In The Republic there are six reoccurring themes education, justice, specialization, philosopher king,
soul, and truth. Plato uses justice though as the folk point and the remaining five trace back to
justice. Socrates defines justice as that one man should practice one thing only, the thing to which
his nature was best adapted (Plato123). Socrates then goes to discuss the three parts to the soul, A
man reasons, we may call the rational principle of the soul, the other... may be termed the irrational
or appetitive and then there is the spirit (Plato 130). Kant proposes that justicesays that only good
people should be happy, and happy in proportion to their goodness (Gustafson 67). Plato and
Socrates saw justice as giving what is owed, while Kant saw justice as being happy in proportion
to their virtue. Yet each strived for justice and look to eliminate the injustices in the world. These
themes and ideas were not just something that once occurred and then no one thought of again.
These themes still play a role in everyday life, some more predominate then others but apparent
just the same. In the film Crimes and Misdemeanors the view is introduced to a group of people
with all different struggles. As the movie progresses the characters dive deeper into their
hardships, and some may never be able to get out of them. This film deals with many of the ideas
that Plato speaks about. The theme of justice is one that is featured as the most important in the
film. Secondary to

39. Ethanol And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Abstract Due to energy and environmental concerns, producing fuels from renewable energy
sources has seen advancements, especially through collecting biofuels produced from microbes.
Many of the biofuels produced from microbes are done so by different pathways in order to
generate fatty acid branched chain esters (FABCEs) and branched fatty acid branched chain esters
(BFABCEs), which are promising isopentenols. These can be produced via multiple pathways, the
leucine and valine pathway as well as the fatty acid pathway. Another and main source pathway
producing biofuels, which produces isopentyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl dipho sphate
(DMAPP), are the 2 methyl (D) erythritol 4 phosphate (MEP) and mevalonate dependent (MVA)...

This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative impact that
can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen in the table, microbes
have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all sources that can be
used for producing renewable fuels. One of the various types of ethanol produced are C5
alcohols also referred to as isopentenols and other 5 branched carbon alcohols. As Connor and
Liao suggest Higher chain alcohols (C3 C5) contain a high energy density, and are compatible
with the current infrastructure as they are less hygroscopic. These alcohols (iso propanol, 1
propanol, 1 butanol, isobutanol, 3 methyl 1 butanol, 2 methyl 1 butanol, isopentenol) can be
blended with gasoline and also have potential to be used as replacements, as 1 butanol has already
been shown to perform well in conventional gasoline engines (Connor; Liao, 2009). There is some
controversy about how current biofuels are not efficient at low temperature; however, FABCEs and
BFABCEs have low freezing points, which can allow for the biofuel to have greater performance
(Tao et. al, 2015). As previously mentioned, isopentenols have properties, which mirror those of

I d first like to start this essay off by stating that I am no theologian. In fact I m not even catholic,
or even someone who practices any religion. Now, I m not going to try and get out of writing
this paper because of this reason. However, I stated this fact to emphasize that my knowledge on
this subject is very slim and stems only from what I have heard in class and from the way that I
interpreted it. The first question asked is: Why are bread and wine the matter of Eucharist? . Well
first we must establish what exactly matter is. Matter, in theology, are the signs that are used in
rituals. Baptismis a ritual, and in order for a ritual to be valid it must have both matter and form.
Eucharist is directly related to Passover because the lamb that had to be sacrificed is equivalent to
Jesusbeing sacrificed (aka his body) and the blood of the lamb is also like the blood that Jesus
shed. Wine and bread are the matter for baptism because they both represent a part of Jesus s
being. The wine represents Jesus s blood and the bread represents Jesus s body. When the gifts are
being offered at Eucharist we are supposed to offer ourselves to God. Jesus is present with use

Where did we make a wrong turn in our society regarding ethics? If students think that ethics and
codes don t apply to them, what structure do they have to base any decisions they will make in the
future? The attributes theme (specifically the focus on the person, self absorption, and the role of
narcissismand self centeredness played in ethicsviolations) was the most influential aspect of this
research, in my opinion. It expanded my knowledge base on the lack of ethical thinking that
possibly exists in Generation Y, students born in the 80s and 90s. I have three Generation Y
children and it does appear that they all struggle with ethical decision making. It s not because
they were not exposed to sound moral character modeled around the house. Was the lack of
parental involvement while growing up? I don t think so. I ve seen my own kids go off the deep
end after conducting themselves unethically. They were brought up with loving and kind parents
who provided more than they could ever ask for. Perhaps that is part of the issue....the kids today

Pros of the Princess Cut Engagement Ring

When compared to some of the other cuts, the princess is less expensive. Cutting of the diamond

Imagine the home you lived in for decades, being knocked down for a football stadium, shopping
center, or new housing. That is gentrification. Webster s dictionary defines gentrification as the
process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle class taste (
Gentrification ). Gentrification is not a new subject, as it has been occurring for centuries, dating
back to medieval times, constructing forts over villages. Today, gentrification typically occurs in
urban settings where buildings are vacant, and most of the residents live in poverty. Gentrification
can destroy families, communities, and history. This topic is often at the center of debate for
politics and town gossip, as developers are disrupting the current residents that reside in the
vicinity. Gentrification occurs all around us, having pros and cons for each project. How is it
ethical to kick individuals out of their home, and community for another s benefit? Questions arise
as the development and takeover of land often displaces individuals, their entire families, and
livelihood. Temple University is a prime example of gentrification as well as other wealthy
organizations, including football teams from the National Football League. The practice of
gentrification comes to symbolize the new development and demolition of individual s lives while
trying to benefit the parties involved.

45. Investigating The Amount Of Calcium On The Calcium Oxide...
Discussion:
The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium
600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods
were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of +
/ 0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during
the process of vacuum filtration were:
CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) в†’ CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l)
CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) в†’ CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq)
The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and
0.573 g respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The
results from the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small
deviation from the original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder
from the mortar and pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what
was expected, hence the smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures
between the two trials of vacuum filtration. During the second trial, more care and attention was
given to make sure that the entire calcium supplement was transferred from the mortar and pestle
to the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Because more care was given, the calculated amount of calcium
increased by 0.019 g.

Introduction:
The year 2012 was historical for the Sultanate of Oman, as HSBC bank s operations in Oman,

a major player in Oman s evolving banking sector. The merger was completed in June 2012 and the
new entity, HSBC Bank Oman SAOG, was born, bringing with it a wealth of knowledge and
experience. (Muscat Daily, June 3, 2012, p 2)

into HSBC Oman and in turn, OIB issued to HSBC new shares equivalent to 51 per cent of the
shareholding in the combined entity.
Though there were synergies and the merger provided gains, there were certain challenges. The
organisational culture, customer profile, business segment, banking products and technology in

The technological challenge of bringing 400,000 retail customers and 10,000 corporate clients of
more than 80 branches under one unified banking platform and connecting more than 140 ATMs to
the OmanNet National Switch Network were completed by the bank well ahead of its scheduled

Washing a Car for Idiots My car is always dirty from driving around in fields and dirt roads. I have
had my license for just over a year now, and have discovered a three step process to make your car
sparkle after you are done washing it. First you have to gather your materials, second you wash the
car with soap, and third you dry your car off. There are many different types of supplies you can
use to wash your car but i have found out that the basics do the same job as the fancy cleaning
supplies. The most important supplies are a bucket, a large sponge, hose with running water, and
soap. The brand of soap you use plays a big role in how shiny and clean your car will get. I have

Take the hose out of the bucket and start spraying your car. To ensure that your don t miss any
areas break your car up into five areas top ,two sides, front, and back. You start at the top of your
car so that the dirt on top does not run down onto parts of the car that you have already cleaned.
On the top of the car, first you wet the entire roof with water. Second grab you sponge that has
been soaking in your soap and bubbles and cover the entire roof with suds. Third rinse off the
top of the car Making sure no suds are left. After that re soak your sponge in the bucket and re
apply to the roof. The reason you apply the suds to the roof twice it to ensure all the dirt is
removed and it is thoroughly cleaned. After you finish the roof you can move on to the next
section of your car. Repeat the same steps you did for the roof on each of the other four sections.
This will ensure that all the dirt and grime is removed from the car. Once you have finished
washing the body and windows of your car you can move down to the rims and tires. The tires
and rims are washed last so that the sponge doesn t get gravel stuck in it and therefor the gravel
will scratch the body paint on the car. The same process for washing the car is applied to the rims
and tires.
The third step for having a clean and sparkling car is to hand dry the car after you are finished
washing it. The reason you hand dry it is so no watermarks or soap stains are left behind. It
usually takes about two beach towels to dry the whole car. To dry the car properly use the wax
on wax off method that Mr. Miyagi taught in the karate kid. Once the car is wiped down take it

Chapter 2: The Chemistry and Energy of Life
Concept 2.1
What is the arrangement of protons, neutrons, and electrons in an atom? An equal amount of
protons and neutrons are placed together in the center of the atom. The nucleus contains the protons
and neutrons. Electrons are surrounded on the outside rings of the atom.
According to the octet rule, what would be the simplest way for a sodium atom to achieve electron
stability? A sodium atom only has one valence electron. So, the best way to achieve electron
stability is to bond with a halogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explain why or why not. Generally, the neutron determines its chemical stability, although in the
case of deuterium the isotope remains stable. This is because there is insignificant mass difference
between protons and neutrons.

How do differences in electronegativity result in the unequal sharing of electrons in polar
molecules? A molecule containing an atom with high electronegativity will be more polar than a
molecule containing an atom with a lower electronegativity. The higher the electronegativity the
more insatiable the atom becomes when it comes to sharing.
For each of the following, is it a Hydrogen bond donor, acceptor, both, or neither? Aldehyde is a
hydrogen bond acceptor. Amino is a hydrogen bond acceptor and donor. Hydroxyl is both a
hydrogen bond donor and acceptor.

Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
1.1. Inclusive learning is about recognising that all your students have the right to be treated
equally and fairly, have the same access to all products, services and have the opportunity to be
involved and included. As a teacher you need to be aware that all students are not the same as they
all do not learn in the same way, the ways in which a teacher can overcome this is using the

on individual learning plans (ILPs). Other features could include self reflective exercises, quizzes

Once the students have completed the lesson, they can use all of the skills out of the classroom
and into their everyday life. 2.1. Creating an inclusive learning environment benefits all students to
enable effective learning to take place. The environment in which you are teaching the subject can
sometimes be restricted but teaching can take place anywhere not necessarily just in a classroom,
for example, colleges, learning centres, the workplace, prisons are to name just a few. When
teaching you would need to consider the venue, rooms and resources but also your attitude and
support as this can also have an impact on the students in which they will learn. 2.2. It is important
to select a number of teaching and learning approaches as individuals can face a number of
barriers causing them difficulty to learn. Maslows (1987) Hierarchy of Needs shows that if all five
aspects of this theory are met, which are, self actualisation, self esteem recognition, safety/security
and physiological it creates a healthy environment for learners to progress and achieve their goal.
2.3. Motivation is what causes us to act, it is either intrinsic (from within) which means to learn for
your own fulfilment or extrinsic (from without) which means they may be an external factor
motivating the learner. To help motivate learners you can set targets, be professional, create
interesting and relevant tasks or activities, engage students and give them the opportunity to

The culture of a place, time, or people is powerful. So much so, that thousands of years will still
allow certain observations into the lives of the people that existed in that culture. Through poems,
writings, architecture, art, clothing, tools, and more historians are able to get a slight
understanding of what or who people from different cultures prioritized, worshiped, or enjoyed.
Over time, local cultures can be diffused across wide areas, even continents. This leads to mixed
cultures, which in the globalized world today is vital so that people can understand instead of
abhorring one another. These three sources: Posidoniuswrites about the Celts (as reported by
others), Rock Edicts of Asoka, and Sima QianHistorical Record demonstrate the importance of cross
cultural interactions with examples from approximately 269 BCE to approximately 200s CE. They
show how important cross cultural interactions were to the regions they were in, how perceptions
of culturewere different to non natives, and how well the introduced culture stood the test of time,
all of which are vital to even beginning to understand how culture developed and diffused across
land and time. Although a region s inherent culture is what makes up the backbone of the people in

cultures. This can be read in the Greek scholar Athenaeus citing of Posidonius circa late 100s early
