2. Introduction
Depression is a affective disorders.
•Affective disorders : mental illness
characterized by pathological change in
mood.
• Depression : pathologically depressed mood.
• Feeling of sadness and loss of interest.
• Affects how you feel , think and behave.
•The lifetime risk of depression in males 8-
12% and in female it is 20-26%.

the leading cause of disability in the
U.S .
Nearly twice as likely to suffer from a major
depressive disorder than men are
