The Nazi Occupation of Holland
The Nazi Occupation of Holland
On May 14, 1940 Holland surrendered to German Forces, and Dr. Arthur Seyss Inquart was appointed
Reichkommissar, the highest governing authority. He watched over a German administration that
included many Austrian born Nazis. These Nazis, in turn supervised the Dutch civil service. This
configuration proved fateful for the Jews of the Netherlands.
During 1940, the German occupation officials forbid
Jews from the civil service and required Jews to register the assets of their business. In January of
1941, the German auth orities required all Jews to register themselves as Jews. 159,8
06 people registered themselves as Jews, including 19,561 born of mixed marriages. As of April 29,

Becoming A Teenger Is A Life Changing Experience
Becoming a teenger is a life changing experience. Between the teenage years from 13 18 years old,
teens have seen problems on social media. Cyberbullying been such a huge impact that never seems to
stop. Cyberbullies continues harassing victims which have caused severe risks for them. These risks
include suicide, depression, loneliness, etc. Sometimes it s hard to figure out if the cyberbullies are
real or not, some can be anonymous. Social media and technology is what all teenagers use 24/7, some
are not careful with what they put online. Due to social media, Cyberbullying has increased causing
victims at risks. Social media is one of the biggest common use of technology teenagers use daily. To
understand what this is , Cyberbullying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So Cyberbullying happens public and private from the user accounts. By that, it means Cyberbullies
have their ways of putting on a victim on the spot because others will view it. Teenagers will see what
s going on causing others to get involved and spreading around the problem. Spreading rumors are the
most common situation teenagers like to do. Anything on social media makes teenagers talk about it
having people to believe it or not. Some examples are people seeing the conversations, screenshotting,
commenting, and receiving messages or texts about what the cyberbullying doing. Teenagers on social
media continue to talk about it by spreading it around. Teenagers who are victims from Cyberbullies
are worried about what others think of them after everyone knowing what s going on. At times victims
receiving a notification from a cyberbully makes them afraid to even open the message. Victims who
have been harassed happens because of the way they look, gender, body figure, posting pictures, and
how they behave. Due to social media, teenagers should be cautious of who they have on their
accounts.
Victims who constantly feel harassed doesn t only happen online. What s happening online also
happens on their social environment. Cyberbullying causing rumors leads to teenagers to talk about it
during schools, homes, phones, and outside. It makes the victim feel depressed because other people

Comparing The Cellular Morphology Of Table 2

However, additional tests can be performed to further differentiate the three bacteria from one another.
One example is the BactiStaph test for the Staphylococcus genus (in this case S. aureus) (Summers,
Brookings and Waites, 1998). Which relies on the principle of detecting coagulase (clumping factor)
using fibrinogen, and detecting protein A with immunoglobulin G. As result of these surface markers
present on most strains of S. aureus will test positive for BactiStaph test (Summers, Brookings and
Waites, 1998; Harris, Foster and Richards, 2002); Another test to differentiate E. coli and B. cereus
from S. aureus is by the basis of motility. Using either MAST motility test or hanging drop method
differentiate E. coli and B. cereus from S. aureus, as the two bacteria are motile (Mitchell and Kogure,
2006); Lastly, since neither E. coli nor S. aureus produce endospores, whilst B. cereus under the right
conditions does produce endospores. By using techniques such as Dipicolinic acid assay or Schaeffer
Fulton spore stain can be used to assess the presence of spores in B. cereus (Hindle Hall, 1999).
Three plating methods can be used to produce well separated single colonies, streak plate procedure,
spread plate and the pour plate procedure (Sanders, 2012). Spread plate procedure is used to separate
microbes contained within a small sample volume (e.g. mixed broth culture) which is then spread over
an agar

The Broad Museum Of Downtown Los Angeles
Opened on September 20, 2015, the Broad Museum in downtown Los Angeles is a fusion of several
different styles of architecture. The Broad museum is a new kind of contemporary art museum Calling
it a gift to the people of Los Angeles, Eli and Edythe Broad donated millions of dollars to open The
Broad Museum in downtown Los Angeles. It stands next to the iconic Disney Concert Hall that is
designed by Frank Gehry and is the first major art museum that is free to. The public. The Broad is
designed by Diller Scofidio and Renfro in teamwork with Gensler. It is a first for the new York based
architect in this city, and one of the number of large new buildings for a firm that has built its
reputation with predominantly conceptual and theoretical projects recently .The architects, Diller,
Scofidio and Renfro, demonstrate the museum as consisting of three parts the vault, the veil, and the
exhibition spaces in between the two. The architecture highlights every painting and sculpture through
its use of veil, vault, and the exhibition spaces. Though it will continue to be controversial, many
architects will see the Broad Museum as the wave of future.
The concept of the veil and the vault in designing the broad is based on joining the two parts of the
building: one of them is public exhibition space and the other one is collection storage. Instead of
relegating the storage to secondary place, the vault, plays an important role in making the museum
experience from entry to exit.

An Alternate Ending To Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
The thundering footsteps of the march sang in chorus with the rumble of the blackened sky. The rain
pelted down like bullets mercilessly penetrating deep into the earth. The smell of chaos and fear
drifted into the cool, steel air and was carried away with the gush of breeze. The noise of confusion
overpowered the sound of raindrops that shattered on the tile roofs. People strolled out of their houses
with curiosity about the commotion at the centre of the village. The villagers held deadly weapons in
their tight grasps that seem capable of mutilating the mightiest of beasts. For a moment time seemed
to stop, the rain ceased to fall and the villagers were in a silent trance. There was only the ray from the

humans. What shall we do with...this hideous creature? One villager spat out in disgust. Burn it!
Others began to yell in unison, the flash of thunder illuminated the sea of menacing faces as they
thrust their weapons in the air. I say, The large man who now seemed powerless and small next to the
gigantic Beast shouted, we burn it, leaving one single breath in its lungs, then we tear it from limbs to
limbs! The roar of agreement erupted from the villagers. Some scattered to gather dry wood to build
the fire. Mama, The voice of a frightened child in his mother s arms could be heard from a house far
away from the riot, why must the Beast be killed? It is different from us, child, the young mother

The American Revolution And The Enlightenment
The American Revolution brought about changes in the way the world viewed religion, science, and
government. The Enlightenment, an European movement that affected social customs and political
ideals not only in Europe, but also in America, brought these new ideas and changes to light.
Enlightenment s main goal was to seek out a better understanding of the natural world through reason.
Reason is an individual trait, and, according to Enlightenment thinkers, this justifies that power should
be help by the people. There was a desire by many colonists to form a government based off
democratic ideals with balanced powers, and these principles can be traced back to the
Enlightenment movement.
One of the most influential Enlightenment thinkers was John Locke who rejected the claim to the
Crown, and he believed that individuals held the right to revolt against a tyrannical government.
Locke argued that rebellion against the government was acceptable if that government failed to protect
the natural rights of the individual including life, liberty, and property. Locke proclaimed, Government
has no other end, but the preservation of property (Locke). Locke also believed that a strong powerful
government would use its authority to control the governed. Because of this, Locke believed the
government should be divided into different branched with a system of
2 checks and balances, allowing each branch to hold only the power needed to fulfill its given
function. Locke believed that

Gerard Nanley Hopkins’ Poem God’s Grandeur Essay
Gerard Nanley Hopkins Poem God s Grandeur
Gerard Nanley Hopkins poem God s Grandeur , illustrates the relationship connecting man and God.
Hopkins uses alliteration and stern tone to compliment the religious content of this morally ambitious
poem. The poem s rhythm and flow seem to capture the same sensation of a church sermon. The
diction used by Hopkins seems to indicate a condescending attitude towards society.
The first stanza states that we are charged with the grandeur of God , or the direct quality of God s
being. This statement begins to express the overall feel or idea of a lecture by stating that society will
be held accountable for its actions. Hopkins exhibits his lack of faith in humanity by stating that ...

All of these words create a dark visual image for the reader. Hopkins states that All is seared in trade
(Hopkins 880). This can be viewed as a possible metaphor for mankind s selfish ambition and greed.
He also feels that society experiences a form of desensitization towards the devastation of the land by
stating, The soil is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod (Hopkins 880).
Hopkins final reflection conveys the apocalypse and the return of God. The application of the words
dearest and freshest in the third stanza suggests a very light and joyous mood. He states that even
though mankind destroys the Earth, God will still continue to provide for his people, And for all this,
nature is never spent (Hopkins 880). Hopkins now speaks in a tone of reassurance. The diction that
Hopkins uses seems to exemplify the forgiving nature of God and describes a very harmonious
setting. Hopkins accomplishes this setting by incorporating very positive, uplifting words and being
very descriptive. In the final line of the poem, Ah! , seems to indicate a response of surprise to seeing
God return with his bright wings .
Throughout the poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins creates a wide range of emotions by using descriptive
detail. The first stanza seems to cast judgment and blame on society; the second stanza reiterates this
idea with

Golfer s Elbow Research Paper
Golfers Elbow, aka medial epicondylitis, is a pain or tenderness on the front side of your elbow. I
choose this injury because it is somewhat related with baseball since it can be caused by improper
swings or throws. There isn t much to know about Golfer s Elbow but here is a good overview of the
injury. Golfers Elbow usually only pertains to athletes or those who exercise poorly and has several
different causes. The main causes are from swinging a golf club or tennis racket, lifting weights, or
throwing anything from a baseball to a javelin. The pain usually comes from damage to the muscles
and tendons in your arm that are caused by overuse and exhaustion. The activities listed above are far
less likely to cause damage if you stretch and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can even cause stiffness in your elbow causing every move to hurt as well as making your hands and
grip strength weaker. Luckily, the pain of Golfer s Elbow will subside over the course of a few days
and you can get back to your everyday activities. Many home remedies for Golfer s Elbow include
having lots of rest, taking any pain medication like advil, and icing down the injured area throughout
the day. If pain persists even after four or so days it may be time to go see the doctor. Also, if your
elbow won t bend and you think there s something more going on, like a broken bone, consult your
doctor as soon as you possibly can. People of age forty or older or those who are obese or perform the
same action over and over for more than two hours a day are more prone to getting Golfer s Elbow. If
they don t get it treated properly it can lead to excruciating pain in the elbow region along with a
limited range of motion. Golfer s Elbow can last for months, or even years, even with proper treatment
so it s best to try and prevent it at all costs and to stop whatever you re doing with the first sign of

Why College Is The Best School For Me
College is a big step in life for those who choose to attend it. Students are taken out of the high school
environment and placed into one with significantly more responsibilities and freedom. At first glance,
the vast number of choices for which college to attend will seem overwhelming, but with careful
research, one can drastically narrow the options down to the specific preferences that the aspiring
student may have. In my case, I have come to the conclusion that the Rose Hulman Institute of
Technology would be the best school for me because of its rewarding campus life, student body, and
academics. When the essay prompt was first explained in class, I had no idea where to begin in my
search for the ideal college. The online databases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, I am certain that Rose Hulman is the most suitable for me.
Rose Hulman s campus life allows for social interactions of all kinds that would assist someone in my
position. The campus is in state, specifically in Terre Haute, which allows for convenient travel
between my school and home location. This factor of staying in reach of the people I know here in
Carmel essentially places less strain on relationships that I have the role of keeping intact. A steady,
communicative relationship with family members and close friends is key to success during college,
since many times the burden of school will weigh me down and I will need the support of others to
keep going. The suburban campus of RHIT with students having an easygoing as well as productive
lifestyle presents to me its most attractive qualities. According to the college s official website, their
campus is very small, quiet, and picturesque (Housing and Residence Life). Naturally with a smaller
suburban campus, there will be a smaller student body in which more people will be familiar with one
another. As a result social cliques will not be as prevalent when compared to urban campuses, such as
those of state universities. My preference as someone who grew up in the small city of Carmel is to be
familiar with its

Comparing Sara Holbrook s Perspectives On Democracy And 12...
Both Sara Holbrook s and Reginald Rose s perspectives on democracy are shown in the poem
Democracy and in the excerpt from 12 Angry Men . They both express in these passages that
democracy can be unfair, very inefficient at times and also inequality. Yet, both authors don t see eye
to eye, for the things they want equality for. While Holbrook shows more feelings about equality of
resources in her poem, Rose talks about equality in terms of judgement and accusations toward the
accused defendant. This makes their perspectives similar yet different in some ways. In the excerpt
from 12 Angry Men , Reginald Rose shows the reader how democracy isn t always very efficient and
is sometimes unfair. He shows the reader how democracy isn t always

The Effect Of Gibberellic Acid On The Germination Of Seeds
The Effect of Gibberellic Acid on the Germination of Seeds Authors Bijin Johnson, Veronica Razon,
Harmony Juanta, Charlee Parr and Cathleen Castro. Introduction In this practical, six bags containing
twelve histrix cactus seeds each were taken and another six bags containing twelve rocket salad seeds
in each bag. Each bag was experimented with different concentrations of gibberellic acid to see how
fast each would grow. Gibberellic Acid is an organic molecule whose chemical formula is C₁₉H₂₂O₆.
This chemical was found as a by product of the fungus Gibberella fujikuroi (John M Riley, 1997).
This acid was developed later and now, synthetic versions of it are available commercially. This
Hormone is responsible for growth and development in the plant. Therefore, small concentrations of
this plant can help a plant grow faster but too large concentrations can have the opposite effect
(Triplantanol, 2011). This chemical comes in the form of a yellowish powder that is dissolved in water
and given to the plant (Wikipedia, 2015). Variables Independent Variable: The amount of Gibberellic
Acid in each bag. Dependent Variable: The number of seeds germinated each day. Variables Held
Constant: The length of time the bags were observed, number of trials done for each concentration and
temperature and the amount of heat and light the plants were exposed to. Hypothesis If the
concentration of Gibberellic Acid increase, the number of seeds germinated per day will increase.

Difference Between Public And Public Schools
Private and public educational intuitions in Michigan have been in the industries the 1800s. Many
people discuss wither private schools or public schools are subsequently better investment to how
students adapt and learn over the years. By looking back at local articles and information, I can find
the information needed to examine how local private schools and public schools differ but, in addition,
have similarities. Private schools have a reputation of having higher standards in certain aspects of
education, but for some, that s not the case. In an article by the Washington Post, it states We found
that once we account for the fact that private schools serve families with more advantages associated
with academic success things like money and highly educated parents we find that public elementary
schools are, on average, simply more effective at teaching mathematics (Strauss). This, for instance,
may be because private schools are more expensive than public schools. You have to pay anywhere
from $5,000 dollars to approximately $30,000 each year where for a public institution the costs are
free. The cost is so expensive in the private institutions that, after student s finish school and receive
their diplomas, many families will struggle financially to send their children to higher education due
to all the money they were spending in previous years. For example, private school students are more
likely than their public school counterparts to sit in rows, complete

Management Fee | | Mayfield charged a budget based management fee to appeal to potential LPs.
Because industry practice was traditionally a 2/20 based fee, Mayfield had a competitive advantage
against other VCs as the budget based fee was attractive because: * Transparency. Budget based fees

Mayfield can differentiate itself from other VCs and market themselves as more aligned with the LPs,
thus, allowing itself quick raising of funds and greater negotiating power when the fund is
oversubscribed. * Because the terms of the fund are a product of the negotiations between the LP and
GP, greater bargaining power is significantly favorable. * Greater Funds to Invest. Because fees are
less, there is greater amount to invest, and, in the case that there are many attractive investments,
Mayfield can capture more investments. However, there are potential costs to the budget based fees
which should also be considered. * Talent Acquisition. Because the fees are budget based, there may
be an incentive for high level talent to work for Mayfield, especially if salaries may be restricted by
the budget based nature of the fees; thus, high level talent may move to firms with a 2/20 structure. *
No Fixed Rate. The GP has the opportunity cost of not charging the fixed rate; because their costs are
well below the 2.5% cap, Mayfield is has a trade off of the difference between the fixed rate and the
budget based charges however, at the same time, they are compensated with higher carried interest. *
The GP may be severely affected if the economy declines or there are no good deals to be found; the
budget based approach was based on the concept of alignment of interest, however, the VC has less

Analysis Of Sandra Cisneros Twelve And Ray Bradbury s...
Characters. They are the foundation of a storyline. However, what is the significance of having
realistic characters? Authors construct a story with realistic characters to enable readers in
familiarizing themselves with the character. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The Veldt,
both authors reveal realistic characters by using descriptive writing with the use of literary devices,
utilizing dialogue that reflects their young ages and developing the characters by encountering various
types of narrations. The authors use realistic characters to provide a better reflection about the coming
of age as a theme. Writers utilize descriptive writing to create a clear depiction of people, objects or

He [George] could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw...And the smell of blood. (Bradbury 3). The
author uses a simile to compare the heat of the sun to a hot paw in the African veldt which emphasizes
the positive thoughts of the children. The smell of blood refers to death, which transitions into an
unexpected thought from children. Bradbury uses a technique called foreshadowing by contrasting the
positive thoughts and negative thoughts of the children. This explains the variation in the age of Peter
as his thoughts begin to expand. Therefore, descriptive writing with the use of literacy devices reflect
the overall theme; coming of age to create realistic characters. Authors use dialogues as a technique to
display an important conversation between two characters or more. Realistic characters would
comprise dialogues consisting apparent speech manners of a human being. Through dialogues,
characters can interact in a way that could reveal expositional information (age) about a character
which seems to be realistic. For example, Cisneros exaggerates the nervousness in Rachel, when she
says, That s not, I don t, you re not...Not mine (Cisneros 2) after a classmate declares that the red
sweater belongs to Rachel. The writer uses an ellipsis; a pause after every few words to emphasize the
idea of Rachel not being able to speak up for herself, which allows the reader to fill in their own
insights about the character. Rachel endeavors to say that s not

The Global Population Of The United Nations Essay
The United Nations estimates that by 2076, the global population will be nearly 11 billion people.
Currently, the global population is slightly below 7.5 billion people, which means that in 60 years the
amount of people on the Earth will increase by roughly 3.5 billion people. Living accommodations
will have to change for this large increase in population, resulting in smaller and more cramped
homes. Large cities will have to not only build more apartment complexes, but also build them taller
in order to accommodate more people. At this point in time, the technology is not available to allow an
extra 3.5 billion people adequate living conditions. However, the future generations will be able to
advance technology enough to figure out a solution. Moore s Law observes that every two years, the
number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles. In simpler terms, it says that the processing
power for computers doubles every two years. This indicates that the future holds many technological
advancements, and sixty years from now the technology used in homes will be drastically more
advanced than the technology used in homes today. As a result, all 11 billion people will be able to

Sociological Analysis
What I learnt from this article was that many sociologists have different opinions and theories about
religion. I did not know that sociologists were studying in depth about religion and how it has changed
at the same time that society also was changing. I did not know about secularization neither about the
different perspectives that sociologists have about it. It is interesting to see that religion is a topic that
not just psychologists are interested to study, but that there are other professionals who are passionate
to study about religion like anthropologists, sociologists among others, each of them seeing religion in
their own ways and also coming up with their own theories that we can all learn from for us to have
our own opinion about

Pericles Play Analysis
Pericles In the performance of Pericles, by Shakespeare, I had the expectation of older costumes and
old english. While there was old english, I still was able to understand what was happening during the
play. The costumes during the performance were more of a modern take to Shakespeare. During the
performance, the actors were very engaged with the audience, used the stage well, and provided
enjoyable music. During the show, the actors were able to keep the show very entertaining by being
engaged with the audience. I thought it was both humorous and entertaining when the actors would get
close to the audience or be humorous by saying lines directly at audience members. During the
performance there was a large sense of action and reaction from the characters to the audience. At
points during the show, the actors would shift from taking the scene very seriously and would make a
joke and the entire audience would laugh. I felt that the actors made the show feel very personal by
keeping the audience engaged by making eye contact and making feel as if they were talking to the
audience while on stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The actors utilized the stage in a practical way and spaced themselves out in an even matter. They
made a balance throughout the stage and I noticed for most of the play the actors made sure they were
spaced correctly. It felt like the actors were able to communicate with their body language as if it was
natural to them, therefore making the stage symmetrical. I believed that the actors did take use of the
small stage they had and made it seem as if it was double the size. I also believe that I knew I was in
the presence of great actors, since they knew how to utilize the stage in that

Bud Light Marketing Campaign
With the NFL season kicking off this past weekend several business to business agencies are paring
with other companies to promote their products in a cleaver and sports related way. One agency that
has already started their campaign is the #MyTeamCan where 28 of the 32 NFL teams has customized
Bud Light cans with their team logos and a tag line specific to their teams and their history. Because
of this recent and relevant marketing campaign and agency that I am accustomed to I wanted to look

This campaign was a Facebook campaign that got users to vote to save their favorite Monopoly token
(pieces) would retire and which ones would replace them. Not only was the campaign on Facebook,
but they also created YouTube videos regarding each token, and over 20 companies partnered up to
support their favorite token. This cleaver campaign increased the sales of Monopoly board games
substantially, and also allowed users to change the game forever.
A majority of VaynerMedia s services are online social platforms and they have only recently reached
out to television ads. Because of their largely social media campaigns they are focused with real life
engagement with their target audience with increased followers, response back and people who post
supporting their campaign. With strategic social media analytics the company is able to see how the
brand and campaign is performing with engagement, followers, people it reached and expanding
stories beyond their social media posts.
Its obvious to see that Vayner Media is taking over the new age marketing with social media
campaigns that allows is followers to actively engage in the campaigns and with the companies that
are associated with them. Now with their expansion into television and large partners such as GE,
Anheuser Busch, and the New York Jets, it seems to me that Vayner Media will be a power house

How To Write An Essay About African American Culture
Cross cultural is other cultures are studied to see similarities. For example, communication is
examined to see what worda they may have in common or how they communicate to other cultures. I
had to think deep and see how cross culture is in my life. There are many examples from the previous
chapter. I chose to go with chapter 18. I want to discuss the African slave trade, and how the African
culture shaped Black American culture in north America. When slaves were brought to America they
were striped from their culture. They were around other African cultures as well. These different
cultures could have been a rival tribe. So the Africans culture identity was challenged here in America.

Corn was a staple in the Americas which came from the native Americans. Corn became extremely
popular because a lot or people ate it. Since enslaved people ate form of corn at almost every meal,
they created a variety of ways to prepare it drawing inspiration from their Native American neighbors.
In the seventeenth century, many enslaved Africans may have noticed similarities between their
cultures (Regelski,The Soul of Food). Africans took this technique and incorporated into their way of
making bread which were called hoecake or ash cake. Corn bread was also a good source of food for
slaves that worked on the field. Because some of the time the master would not give them a break.
Corn beard was easy to eat because it did not require utensils. There are so many more food that relate

Gender role is defined, by the Oxford Dictionary, as the role or behavior learned by a person as
appropriate to their gender, determined by the prevailing cultural norms. Also known as sex roles,
these particular roles have a division between men and women. Our society is the determining factor
in how each sexes depicts their role through their actions, clothes, characteristics, etc. There have
been, and are, many issues facing both men and women in our society relating to traditional roles that
they play. Whether it s related to how both dress, talk, and socialize, none is worse than being told you

Sears Mission Statement
Problem or Need
Prior the 1980 s, Sears Holding Corporation (SHLD) managed to generate revenue and compete
among the top retailers in America (Kim, 2014). SHLD s current financial status reveals that they are
failing to maintain profitability. Having worked with SHLD for over two years, I have noticed a slow
decline in profits. The main reasons for SHLD mishaps are due to a lack of a satisfactory mission
statement (Sears Holding Corp, 2014), increased competition, insufficient marketing tools and lack of
bargaining power. All of these elements play a part in SHLD loss of profits.

the company continues to manufacture quarterly losses (Sharf, 2014). Their lack of profitability stems

The Role of Women in Beowulf
The Role of Women in Beowulf The women in Beowulf, which was written around 70 CE by an
anonymous poet, fill many different roles, ranging from peacekeepers to wives and monsters, all of
which are evidenced in the Queen Wealtheow, Queen Hygd, Hidleburh, and Grendel s mother. The
most prominent role of women throughout the poem is devoted wives and queens, which is reflected
in the portrayal of Queen Wealtheow. When she is first introduced, Wealtheow went on her rounds,
queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, offering the goblet to all ranks, treating the household and
the assembled troop and then with measured words she welcomed the Geat and thanked God for
granting her wish that a deliverer she could believe in would arrive to ease their afflictions (lines 620
28). The anonymous poet paints a picture of Wealtheow as gracious, regal, and put together,
everything that an ideal queen should be. Not only is she physically perfect, but she is also an ideal
hostess one who tends to everyone, welcomes guests warmly, and ensures that everything is running
smoothly for her husband. Later in the poem, Wealtheow gives a toast, enjoy this drink, my most
generous lord; raise up your goblet, entertain the Geats duly and gently, discourse with them, be open
handed, happy and fond (lines 1168 71). Similar to this one, Wealtheow often gives speeches or toasts
throughout the poem, something that, though not entirely masculine, is usually reserved for kings to

How Does Shakespeare Use Humor In Twelfth Night
Humans have been on this planet for an estimated 200,000 years and yet we are still a cruel and
immoral species that finds the pain and manipulation of others amusing. Though the Twelfth Night
written by William Shakespeare takes place 400 years ago the humor in it has not changed as people
still find humour in Sir Andrew s antics, laugh at Malvolio s imprisonment, and giggle at the
misfortune of Antonio. The reason for that is simple; it is in human nature to mock others.
One example of Sir Andrew s abuse comes from before his first line is spoken. Maria is reprimanding
Sir Toby for his drinking and bringing is a knave too woo lady Olivia Sir Toby reasons with her saying
Why, he has three thousand ducats a year. (the Twelfth Night, William Shakespeare 1.3.20) This
shows that Sir Toby does not care to reason that he has a kind heart or a fine personality but only
wealth for drinking. Because of this fact Sir Toby reveals his manipulation in the final act resulting in
humour at Sir Andrews expense. Sir Toby is shown to be one of the main contributors to Sir Andrew s
manipulation like when Sir Andrew wishes to leave on the grounds that Olivia is being ... Show more

Slavery And The American Civil War
Slavery has been a part of the United States since the first African slaves were brought to the North
American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of crops (Slavery in
America, 2014, p. 1). Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th
centuries, and African American slaves helped build the fiscal grounds of the new nation (Slavery in
America, 2014, p. 1). By the mid 1800s, the westward expansion, along with the abolition movement
in the North, provoked a great debate over slavery that would tear the nation apart in the gory
American Civil War from 1861 1865 (Slavery, 2014, p. 1). Many masters took sexual liberties with
slave women, and rewarded obedient slave behavior with favors, while rebellious slaves were brutally
punished (Slavery in America, 2014, p. 1). This slavery, although abolished with the ending of the
Civil War, continues today. This modern form of slavery, known as human trafficking, poses as a
threat to the United States today. Modern slavery can involve using children in the military, whether as
combatants, porters, cooks or for other jobs, however, it is often undertaken for purposes of sexual or
labor exploitation (New Estimate, 2013, p. 8; Pearson, 2014, p. 363). Targets of this act aren t based
on race, age, or ethnicity but on who are more likely to fall for the trafficker s false presentation of life

he attempted to run it on his own, but that didn t last long; so he joined the French Army. After a while

What It s Like To Be A Gang Member, By Bill Lee And We...
In both What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee and We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks,
gang life is portrayed as dangerous and violent, demonstrating that gang members have to find a way

required to be in a gang, along with the challenges the members face, such as peer pressure.
In the article What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee, gang activity is described in detail, and
the struggles of membership are shown clearly. For example, ...when your buddies are jumping
someone, there was immense peer pressure to join in, whether you wanted to or not. This shows that
some gang members would do atrocious things just to fit in, not because they actually wanted to do it.

2. Describe 2 trophic interactions of an organism from the area studied.
An example of a trophic interaction includes parasitism, which is a relationship that involves a
harmful organism living on another organism, and is presented by the galls ( plant tumours ) on the
Grey Mangrove. The formation of a gall is initiated when an insect feeds on a plant or dominates the
tissue of a plant and lays eggs there. The eggs will grow within the leaves, which they will eventually
devour. These abnormal growths of plant tissue are a response to irritation or harm of the plant and it
may slow down the photosynthesis process and may make the Grey Mangrove die.
Another example includes mutualism, where both species benefit from the relationship. Mutualism ...

The Pros And Cons Of Texting
Since the start of communication, engineers have been searching for ways to advance the way we
connect with one another from the pictograph, to the landline telephone, even to our revolutionary
smartphones. However, one advancement that really made it s mark on our society and culture was
texting, which almost everyone from ages 10 to 50 has participated in at some point in their lives.
While texting is seen as a positive in younger people s eyes, the older generation often feels it s a
negative. John Humphrys, author of I H8 Txt Msgs , in particular, has his own pronounced opinion on
texting, and is not a strong advocate for it. David Crystal, who has written many pieces on texting, but
specifically 2B or Not 2B? , on the contrary, believes that texting is not a bad thing, and it actually
impacts texters in a positive way. Of the two authors, David Crystal provides a much more convincing
argument through providing statistics and details, whereas John Humphrys uses his personal opinions
in an attempt to convince readers. Crystal s ability to conceptualize (or rationalize) texters motivations
for abbreviating strengthens his argument by making him sound more knowledgeable as a writer. To
begin his argument, Crystal makes the excellent point that people would not send texts that are
unreadable, especially when texting is a service that is not free. It also is not all the time that people

Compare And Contrast Gatsby And Death Of A Salesman
A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall (Aristotle). This quotation
accurately describes a tragic hero, which is a character with an imperfection, or tragic flaw, that
eventually leads to their downfall. In The Great Gatsby and Death of a Salesman, both authors
criticize the unattainability of the American Dream as both characters Gatsby and Willy chase after
their dreams. During the 1920 s, the American Dream is centered around obtaining wealth any way
possible. During the 1950 s, the American Dream focused on success through a dignifying job. These
decades both involve dreams of economic prosperity that becomes these protagonists tragic flaws.
Seeking to relive the past, Gatsby and Willy strive for wealth until they similarly reach their deaths
trying to achieve their dreams. However, these two tragic heroes come from diverse backgrounds and
surroundings that greatly influence their view of success.
While Jay Gatsby and Willy Loman are both tragic heroes, the impact of their environment and people
in their lives are very different. For Gatsby, success comes with the image of Daisy. Gatsby is attracted
to her voice that is full of money and draws him into this tragic illusion of love that he continues

Comparative Analysis of Economic and Political Cleavages in South Africa and Zimbabwe
Introduction
Comparative politics is concerned with examining the characteristics or qualities of two different
political entities to discover resemblances or differences. These entities can be general in nature, for
example, the comparison of two countries, or more specific in nature, comparing two different
systems of government. But, whether general or specific in nature, comparative politics tries to
determine what caused the governments to form in the way that they did.
One way to do this is to look for the cleavages that affected each of the countries in question. A
cleavage is a split that occurs within a culture and can cause conflict ... Show more content on

This brief discussion will cover such areas as land reform and the impact of political decision making
on landowners and non landowners in a historically agrarian and ranked society and on race,
substandard housing, unemployment, and unequal allocation of funding for public health.
Land Reform
Historically, land reform programs in South Africa and Zimbabwe has been similar in some respects.
It is necessary to briefly review the history of each country in respect to this cleavage to better
understand current discontinuities and to note the clear differences in contemporary land reform that
are being implemented in the two countries.
Both South Africa and Zimbabwe were British colonies. All the land in these colonies was owned by
white Europeans and farmed by poor black Africans. In 1980, Rhodesia broke from the bondage of
white rule and elected its first black president, Robert Mugabe, who came with promises of restoration
of the land to native Africans, and of better health care and educational opportunities. The now
independent Rhodesia was renamed Zimbabwe in 1980.
But during the 1980 s, drought and white emigration badly damaged the economy, which already
strained by the need for massive government spending in the long neglected areas of black education,
health, and social services. The cleavages over land distribution, which continue today, present an
ongoing challenge to the government and an obstacle to agricultural development and will be

Figueroa s Framework In Tennis
Figueroa s Framework is a tool used in examining the sociocultural factors influencing equity and
access to sport and physical activity. It is made up of five levels individual, interpersonal, institutional,
structural, and cultural. These levels relate back to the idea of access and equity to sport the ability to
play and the access to the same opportunities (Amezdroz, et al., 2010). I will discuss the impact that
the individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels have had on my experiences and performances in
tennis this term and make recommendations on how to maintain or improve my experiences and
performances in tennis.
The individual level of Figueroa s Framework refers to the factors that affected my sports performance
which based on my own attitudes, values, beliefs, and experiences. Having had past experience in
tennis positively impacted my performance as it gave me essential knowledge of the rules, and
allowed me to begin development of skills prior to this unit. My previous tennis experience stretches
back to grade 7, where I played tennis for inter school sport. With the help of an experienced friend, I

The National Security Act Of 1947
Even though President Truman implemented the Executive Order 9835 in order to ensure the
attainment of national security, it failed to do so in a legal manner. Any national intelligence program
such as the HUAC could not have legally used Truman s loyalty program in order to attain national
security. The National Security Act of 1947 states that the methods of investigation utilized by
national intelligence programs should be free of political considerations ( National Security Act of
1947, 12). Executive Order 9835 shows how the HUAC s methods of investigation failed to be
independent of political considerations. As a broken loyalty program, Truman s Executive Order was
very opinionated. Any individual or organization deemed disloyal by the government without any
evidence of intending to subvert would be subject to further investigations done by congressional
investigation committees and other national intelligence programs. Those conjectured as political
leftists or fascists fell victim to loyalty screening despite not truly being of an insubordinate nature. In
this way, the broken system of loyalty determination created by Executive Order 9835 cannot be
justified through the attainment of national security since the Executive Order failed to be independent
of political opinions. Consequently, the HUAC failed to comply with the official mandates of the
National Security Act since its methods of investigation were politically biased. In accordance with
Truman s

Tort Negligence Case Study
No, because there are excessively many acts of interfering negligence on the part of the landlord.
According to Tort law, it applies when one party neglect to act sensibly and hurt happens, despite the
fact that the person did not plan to cause hurt; the gathering is at risk for any wounds or harms
endured by another gathering because of the absurd direct (Melvin,2015). However, this class of tort is
called negligence. The essential contrast between purposeful torts and carelessness is the outlook of
the tortfeasor. At the point when a tortfeasor makes hurt a harmed party by making an absurd danger
of mischief, the law gives the harmed party a cure paying little respect to the tortfeasor s purpose. The
Restatements likewise perceive certain protections that might be stated in a negligence case. Factors of
negligence the law requires that particular components be demonstrated with a specific end goal to
recuperate in a claim against a tortfeasor for carelessness. The harmed party must demonstrate five
major components by noting certain inquiries regarding the lead being referred to; Duty to find if
tortfeasor owes an obligation of care to the harmed party? Breach of obligation: Did the tortfeasor
neglect to practice sensible care? Cause actually: Except for the rupture of obligation by the tortfeasor,
would the harmed party have endured harms? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to understand that in a situation where a tenant is in possession of leased space, the
tenant has the same special duties and level of liability that is imposed on landowners. Once a
landlord/owner has given possession of the property to the tenant, the landlord is generally not held
liable except for certain common areas (e.g., common stairwells, restrooms, or lobby). Furthermore,
this just so happen to show that the common stairwells were under this liability claim filed by the

Motivation, challenge, empowering and innovative management.
John Lewis uses profit sharing as the way of financial motivation combined a wide range of other
valuable benefits, and in return have a low labour turnover which is half that most of their
competitors.
(Thursday, 20 August 2009www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis)
Being a partner is a strong motivating factor, You re not just an employee; you are an owner of the
business. That makes you feel differently about everything. (Tom Miller department store director at
JMP)
Partners are paid more generously than employees at other retailers. They receive five weeks annual
holiday, a 25 per cent discount and a final salary pension.
There are other non financial motivators also. Partners can rent subsidized rooms in two large country
estates, or stay at lakeside hotels in Snowdonia and the Lake District, or in a 16th century castle in
Dorset. Five cruising yachts can be rented cheaply. And then there is the £60 annual subsidy on
exhibitions, theatres, visitor attractions and comedy shows.
Although senior management, are paid less than their peers in City run firms. It is about £400,000 to
£500,000 a year half the £939,000 earned last year by Debenhams chief executive, with a business of
a same size. But what they believe is that managers decide with John Lewis if they want to be part of
that industrial experiment. And if they fail to be motivated by that then

The Photographer I Chose William Henry Jackson
The photographer I chose is William Henry Jackson. This photographer stood out to me because his
photography was outstanding especially of the great outdoors. After going through the pain staking
process of choosing a photographer he really stood out the most because of his photos of the outdoors.
Even though he is an amazing artist he did marvelous work in the American West. He was more than
just a photographer he also did some work as a painter in his early and later parts of his career.
William Henry Jackson was also a publisher like most artists are. But, he was always a lover of art.
Early in his career at the age of 19 in 1862 he joined as a private in Company K of the 12th Vermont
Infantry of the Union Army. He served during the American Civil War for about nine months and
during his time he fought in a major battle, which was the Battle of Gettysburg. He spent most of his
time sketching during his time in the army. He was assigned to guarding a supply train. In 1863 his
regiment was dismissed. William Henry Jackson was well known for his photography of the American
West. The reason he did photography about the American West was because in 1866 his brother and
William took a Union Pacific Railroad train to the last stop which was near Nebraska. He then got a
job as a bullwhacker on a wagon train. This company traveled along the Oregon Trail. In Omaha he
open up a photography business with his brother in 1867. He did many long excursions in the Omaha
region to

The Cost Of Cost Costing
Procedure costing is utilized when there is large scale manufacture of comparative items, where the
expenses connected with individual units of yield can t be separated from one another. As such, the
expense of every item delivered is thought to be the same as the expense of each other item. Under
this idea, expenses are amassed over a settled time of time, abridged, and after that designated to the
greater part of the units delivered amid that time of time on a predictable premise. At the point when
items are rather being produced on an individual premise, occupation costing is utilized to amass costs
and appoint the expenses to items. At the point when a creation procedure contains a few mass
assembling and some modified components, then a crossover costing framework is utilized.
Cases of the businesses where this kind of creation happens incorporate oil refining, sustenance
generation, and substance preparing. Case in point, how would you focus the exact expense needed to
make one gallon of flying fuel, when a great many gallons of the same fuel are spouting out of a
refinery consistently? The expense bookkeeping technique utilized for this situation is procedure
costing.
Procedure costing is the main sensible methodology to deciding item costs in numerous commercial
enterprises. It utilizes the greater part of the same diary entrances found in an occupation costing
environment, so there is no compelling reason to rebuild the diagram of records to any huge degree.

Statistics Final Essay
Question:
Due to financial hardship, the Nyke shoe company feels they only need to make one size of shoes,
regardless of gender or height. They have collected data on gender, shoe size, and height and have
asked you to tell them if they can change their business model to include only one size of shoes
regardless of height or gender of the wearer. In no more 5 10 pages (including figures), explain your
recommendations, using statistical evidence to support your findings. The data found are below:
Shoe Size | Height | Gender | 5.00 | 63.00 | Female | 7.50 | 70.00 | Female | 9.00 | 70.00 | Female | 7.00 |
64.00 | Male | 11.00 | 72.00 | Male | 12.00 | 72.00 | Male | 14.00 | 76.00 | Male | 7.00 | 66.00 | Female |

We can also test if there is a significant difference between the average height for females and the
average height for the males.
Denote by the average heights for males and females, respectively. Here are the two hypotheses:
Null hypothesis H0:
Alternative hypothesis Ha:
We conduct an independent sample t test using Excel, and obtain the following output (see t test
height)
t Test: Two Sample Assuming Unequal Variances | | | | | height (F) | height(M) | Mean | 66.66666667 |
71.35294118 | Variance | 11.88235294 | 9.867647059 | Observations | 18 | 17 | Hypothesized Mean
Difference | 0 | | df | 33 | | t Stat | 4.207413941 | | P(T lt;=t) one tail | 9.30285E 05 | | t Critical one tail |
1.692360258 | | P(T lt;=t) two tail | 0.000186057 | | t Critical two tail | 2.034515287 | |
From the above output, we can see that the p value is 0.000186, which is smaller than 0.05 (if we
select a 0.05 significance level).
So, we should reject the null hypothesis H0. At a 0.05 level of significance level, we conclude that
there is a significant difference between the average height for females and the average height for the
males.
Conclusion:
According to above analysis, we have found that there is a strong positive correlation between the
shoe sizes and heights.

One example is the BactiStaph test for the Staphylococcus genus (in this case S. aureus) (Summers, Brookings and Waites, 1998). Which relies on the principle of detecting coagulase (clumping factor) using fibrinogen, and detecting protein A with immunoglobulin G. As result of these surface markers present on most strains of S. aureus will test positive for BactiStaph test (Summers, Brookings and Waites, 1998; Harris, Foster and Richards, 2002); Another test to differentiate E. coli and B. cereus from S. aureus is by the basis of motility. Using either MAST motility test or hanging drop method differentiate E. coli and B. cereus from S. aureus, as the two bacteria are motile (Mitchell and Kogure, 2006); Lastly, since neither E. coli nor S. aureus produce endospores, whilst B. cereus under the right conditions does produce endospores. By using techniques such as Dipicolinic acid assay or Schaeffer Fulton spore stain can be used to assess the presence of spores in B. cereus (Hindle Hall, 1999). Three plating methods can be used to produce well separated single colonies, streak plate procedure, spread plate and the pour plate procedure (Sanders, 2012). Spread plate procedure is used to separate microbes contained within a small sample volume (e.g. mixed broth culture) which is then spread over an agar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The architecture highlights every painting and sculpture through its use of veil, vault, and the exhibition spaces. Though it will continue to be controversial, many architects will see the Broad Museum as the wave of future. The concept of the veil and the vault in designing the broad is based on joining the two parts of the building: one of them is public exhibition space and the other one is collection storage. Instead of relegating the storage to secondary place, the vault, plays an important role in making the museum experience from entry to exit. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Enlightenment, an European movement that affected social customs and political ideals not only in Europe, but also in America, brought these new ideas and changes to light. Enlightenment s main goal was to seek out a better understanding of the natural world through reason. Reason is an individual trait, and, according to Enlightenment thinkers, this justifies that power should be help by the people. There was a desire by many colonists to form a government based off democratic ideals with balanced powers, and these principles can be traced back to the Enlightenment movement. One of the most influential Enlightenment thinkers was John Locke who rejected the claim to the Crown, and he believed that individuals held the right to revolt against a tyrannical government. Locke argued that rebellion against the government was acceptable if that government failed to protect the natural rights of the individual including life, liberty, and property. Locke proclaimed, Government has no other end, but the preservation of property (Locke). Locke also believed that a strong powerful government would use its authority to control the governed. Hopkins uses alliteration and stern tone to compliment the religious content of this morally ambitious poem. The poem s rhythm and flow seem to capture the same sensation of a church sermon. The diction used by Hopkins seems to indicate a condescending attitude towards society. The first stanza states that we are charged with the grandeur of God , or the direct quality of God s being. This statement begins to express the overall feel or idea of a lecture by stating that society will be held accountable for its actions. He also feels that society experiences a form of desensitization towards the devastation of the land by stating, The soil is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod (Hopkins 880). Hopkins final reflection conveys the apocalypse and the return of God. The application of the words dearest and freshest in the third stanza suggests a very light and joyous mood. He states that even though mankind destroys the Earth, God will still continue to provide for his people, And for all this, nature is never spent (Hopkins 880). Hopkins now speaks in a tone of reassurance. The diction that Hopkins uses seems to exemplify the forgiving nature of God and describes a very harmonious setting. Hopkins accomplishes this setting by incorporating very positive, uplifting words and being very descriptive. In the final line of the poem, Ah! , seems to indicate a response of surprise to seeing God return with his bright wings . Throughout the poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins creates a wide range of emotions by using descriptive detail. The first stanza seems to cast judgment and blame on society; the second stanza reiterates this idea with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Students are taken out of the high school environment and placed into one with significantly more responsibilities and freedom. At first glance, the vast number of choices for which college to attend will seem overwhelming, but with careful research, one can drastically narrow the options down to the specific preferences that the aspiring student may have. In my case, I have come to the conclusion that the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology would be the best school for me because of its rewarding campus life, student body, and academics. This factor of staying in reach of the people I know here in Carmel essentially places less strain on relationships that I have the role of keeping intact. A steady, communicative relationship with family members and close friends is key to success during college, since many times the burden of school will weigh me down and I will need the support of others to keep going. The suburban campus of RHIT with students having an easygoing as well as productive lifestyle presents to me its most attractive qualities. According to the college s official website, their campus is very small, quiet, and picturesque (Housing and Residence Life). Naturally with a smaller suburban campus, there will be a smaller student body in which more people will be familiar with one another. As a result social cliques will not be as prevalent when compared to urban campuses, such as those of state universities. The Effect Of Gibberellic Acid On The Germination Of Seeds The Effect of Gibberellic Acid on the Germination of Seeds Authors Bijin Johnson, Veronica Razon, Harmony Juanta, Charlee Parr and Cathleen Castro. Introduction In this practical, six bags containing twelve histrix cactus seeds each were taken and another six bags containing twelve rocket salad seeds in each bag. Each bag was experimented with different concentrations of gibberellic acid to see how fast each would grow. This Hormone is responsible for growth and development in the plant. Therefore, small concentrations of this plant can help a plant grow faster but too large concentrations can have the opposite effect (Triplantanol, 2011). This chemical comes in the form of a yellowish powder that is dissolved in water and given to the plant (Wikipedia, 2015). Variables Independent Variable: The amount of Gibberellic Acid in each bag. Dependent Variable: The number of seeds germinated each day. Variables Held Constant: The length of time the bags were observed, number of trials done for each concentration and temperature and the amount of heat and light the plants were exposed to. Hypothesis If the concentration of Gibberellic Acid increase, the number of seeds germinated per day will increase. Method 12 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people discuss wither private schools or public schools are subsequently better investment to how students adapt and learn over the years. By looking back at local articles and information, I can find the information needed to examine how local private schools and public schools differ but, in addition, have similarities. Private schools have a reputation of having higher standards in certain aspects of education, but for some, that s not the case. In an article by the Washington Post, it states We found that once we account for the fact that private schools serve families with more advantages associated with academic success things like money and highly educated parents we find that public elementary schools are, on average, simply more effective at teaching mathematics (Strauss). This, for instance, may be because private schools are more expensive than public schools. You have to pay anywhere from $5,000 dollars to approximately $30,000 each year where for a public institution the costs are free. The cost is so expensive in the private institutions that, after student s finish school and receive their diplomas, many families will struggle financially to send their children to higher education due to all the money they were spending in previous years. Mayfield can differentiate itself from other VCs and market themselves as more aligned with the LPs, thus, allowing itself quick raising of funds and greater negotiating power when the fund is oversubscribed. * Because the terms of the fund are a product of the negotiations between the LP and GP, greater bargaining power is significantly favorable. * Greater Funds to Invest. Because fees are less, there is greater amount to invest, and, in the case that there are many attractive investments, Mayfield can capture more investments. Authors construct a story with realistic characters to enable readers in familiarizing themselves with the character. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The Veldt, both authors reveal realistic characters by using descriptive writing with the use of literary devices, utilizing dialogue that reflects their young ages and developing the characters by encountering various types of narrations. The authors use realistic characters to provide a better reflection about the coming of age as a theme. Writers utilize descriptive writing to create a clear depiction of people, objects or events by emphasizing important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He [George] could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw...And the smell of blood. (Bradbury 3). The author uses a simile to compare the heat of the sun to a hot paw in the African veldt which emphasizes the positive thoughts of the children. The smell of blood refers to death, which transitions into an unexpected thought from children. Bradbury uses a technique called foreshadowing by contrasting the positive thoughts and negative thoughts of the children. This explains the variation in the age of Peter as his thoughts begin to expand. Therefore, descriptive writing with the use of literacy devices reflect the overall theme; coming of age to create realistic characters. Authors use dialogues as a technique to display an important conversation between two characters or more. Realistic characters would comprise dialogues consisting apparent speech manners of a human being. Through dialogues, characters can interact in a way that could reveal expositional information (age) about a character which seems to be realistic. For example, Cisneros exaggerates the nervousness in Rachel, when she says, That s not, I don t, you re not...Not mine (Cisneros 2) after a classmate declares that the red sweater belongs to Rachel. The writer uses an ellipsis; a pause after every few words to emphasize the idea of Rachel not being able to speak up for herself, which allows the reader to fill in their own insights about the character. • 19. The Global Population Of The United Nations Essay The United Nations estimates that by 2076, the global population will be nearly 11 billion people. Currently, the global population is slightly below 7.5 billion people, which means that in 60 years the amount of people on the Earth will increase by roughly 3.5 billion people. Living accommodations will have to change for this large increase in population, resulting in smaller and more cramped homes. Large cities will have to not only build more apartment complexes, but also build them taller in order to accommodate more people. At this point in time, the technology is not available to allow an extra 3.5 billion people adequate living conditions. However, the future generations will be able to advance technology enough to figure out a solution. Moore s Law observes that every two years, the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles. In simpler terms, it says that the processing power for computers doubles every two years. This indicates that the future holds many technological advancements, and sixty years from now the technology used in homes will be drastically more advanced than the technology used in homes today. As a result, all 11 billion people will be able to live comfortably. The home of the future will look much different than the homes of today. It will be able to perform many more tasks and will be much more than just a building that a person owns and sleeps in. While there was old english, I still was able to understand what was happening during the play. The costumes during the performance were more of a modern take to Shakespeare. During the performance, the actors were very engaged with the audience, used the stage well, and provided enjoyable music. During the show, the actors were able to keep the show very entertaining by being engaged with the audience. I thought it was both humorous and entertaining when the actors would get close to the audience or be humorous by saying lines directly at audience members. During the performance there was a large sense of action and reaction from the characters to the audience. At points during the show, the actors would shift from taking the scene very seriously and would make a joke and the entire audience would laugh. The Role of Women in Beowulf The Role of Women in Beowulf The women in Beowulf, which was written around 70 CE by an anonymous poet, fill many different roles, ranging from peacekeepers to wives and monsters, all of which are evidenced in the Queen Wealtheow, Queen Hygd, Hidleburh, and Grendel s mother. The most prominent role of women throughout the poem is devoted wives and queens, which is reflected in the portrayal of Queen Wealtheow. When she is first introduced, Wealtheow went on her rounds, queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, offering the goblet to all ranks, treating the household and the assembled troop and then with measured words she welcomed the Geat and thanked God for granting her wish that a deliverer she could believe in would arrive to ease their afflictions (lines 620 28). The anonymous poet paints a picture of Wealtheow as gracious, regal, and put together, everything that an ideal queen should be. Not only is she physically perfect, but she is also an ideal hostess one who tends to everyone, welcomes guests warmly, and ensures that everything is running smoothly for her husband. Later in the poem, Wealtheow gives a toast, enjoy this drink, my most generous lord; raise up your goblet, entertain the Geats duly and gently, discourse with them, be open handed, happy and fond (lines 1168 71). How Does Shakespeare Use Humor In Twelfth Night Humans have been on this planet for an estimated 200,000 years and yet we are still a cruel and immoral species that finds the pain and manipulation of others amusing. Though the Twelfth Night written by William Shakespeare takes place 400 years ago the humor in it has not changed as people still find humour in Sir Andrew s antics, laugh at Malvolio s imprisonment, and giggle at the misfortune of Antonio. The reason for that is simple; it is in human nature to mock others. One example of Sir Andrew s abuse comes from before his first line is spoken. Maria is reprimanding Sir Toby for his drinking and bringing is a knave too woo lady Olivia Sir Toby reasons with her saying Why, he has three thousand ducats a year. Slavery And The American Civil War Slavery has been a part of the United States since the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of crops (Slavery in America, 2014, p. 1). Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and African American slaves helped build the fiscal grounds of the new nation (Slavery in America, 2014, p. 1). By the mid 1800s, the westward expansion, along with the abolition movement in the North, provoked a great debate over slavery that would tear the nation apart in the gory American Civil War from 1861 1865 (Slavery, 2014, p. 1). Many masters took sexual liberties with slave women, and rewarded obedient slave behavior with favors, while rebellious slaves were brutally punished (Slavery in America, 2014, p. 1). This slavery, although abolished with the ending of the Civil War, continues today. This modern form of slavery, known as human trafficking, poses as a threat to the United States today. Modern slavery can involve using children in the military, whether as combatants, porters, cooks or for other jobs, however, it is often undertaken for purposes of sexual or labor exploitation (New Estimate, 2013, p. 8; Pearson, 2014, p. 363). • 37. Compare And Contrast Gatsby And Death Of A Salesman A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall (Aristotle). This quotation accurately describes a tragic hero, which is a character with an imperfection, or tragic flaw, that eventually leads to their downfall. In The Great Gatsby and Death of a Salesman, both authors criticize the unattainability of the American Dream as both characters Gatsby and Willy chase after their dreams. During the 1920 s, the American Dream is centered around obtaining wealth any way possible. During the 1950 s, the American Dream focused on success through a dignifying job. These decades both involve dreams of economic prosperity that becomes these protagonists tragic flaws. Seeking to relive the past, Gatsby and Willy strive for wealth until they similarly reach their deaths trying to achieve their dreams. However, these two tragic heroes come from diverse backgrounds and surroundings that greatly influence their view of success. While Jay Gatsby and Willy Loman are both tragic heroes, the impact of their environment and people in their lives are very different. For Gatsby, success comes with the image of Daisy. Gatsby is attracted to her voice that is full of money and draws him into this tragic illusion of love that he continues following his entire life (Fitzgerald). In order to achieve this dream of the past, Gatsby becomes a bootlegger and gets rich quick so that he can impress Daisy and win her over again. • 38. Comparative Analysis of Economic and Political Cleavages... Comparative Analysis of Economic and Political Cleavages in South Africa and Zimbabwe Introduction Comparative politics is concerned with examining the characteristics or qualities of two different political entities to discover resemblances or differences. These entities can be general in nature, for example, the comparison of two countries, or more specific in nature, comparing two different systems of government. But, whether general or specific in nature, comparative politics tries to determine what caused the governments to form in the way that they did. One way to do this is to look for the cleavages that affected each of the countries in question. A cleavage is a split that occurs within a culture and can cause conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This brief discussion will cover such areas as land reform and the impact of political decision making on landowners and non landowners in a historically agrarian and ranked society and on race, substandard housing, unemployment, and unequal allocation of funding for public health. Land Reform Historically, land reform programs in South Africa and Zimbabwe has been similar in some respects. It is necessary to briefly review the history of each country in respect to this cleavage to better understand current discontinuities and to note the clear differences in contemporary land reform that are being implemented in the two countries. Both South Africa and Zimbabwe were British colonies. All the land in these colonies was owned by white Europeans and farmed by poor black Africans. In 1980, Rhodesia broke from the bondage of white rule and elected its first black president, Robert Mugabe, who came with promises of restoration of the land to native Africans, and of better health care and educational opportunities. The now independent Rhodesia was renamed Zimbabwe in 1980. But during the 1980 s, drought and white emigration badly damaged the economy, which already strained by the need for massive government spending in the long neglected areas of black education, health, and social services. The cleavages over land distribution, which continue today, present an ongoing challenge to the government and an obstacle to agricultural development and will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is made up of five levels individual, interpersonal, institutional, structural, and cultural. These levels relate back to the idea of access and equity to sport the ability to play and the access to the same opportunities (Amezdroz, et al., 2010). I will discuss the impact that the individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels have had on my experiences and performances in tennis this term and make recommendations on how to maintain or improve my experiences and performances in tennis. The individual level of Figueroa s Framework refers to the factors that affected my sports performance which based on my own attitudes, values, beliefs, and experiences. Having had past experience in tennis positively impacted my performance as it gave me essential knowledge of the rules, and allowed me to begin development of skills prior to this unit. My previous tennis experience stretches back to grade 7, where I played tennis for inter school sport. With the help of an experienced friend, I was able to improve greatly and pick up key tennis skills. Once entering high school, I had multiple occasions in which I had the opportunity and access to improve my tennis skills, including during HPE and Wednesday sport. This prior experience is extremely relevant in my tennis performance this term for a number of reasons. It gave me understanding of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The National Security Act Of 1947 Even though President Truman implemented the Executive Order 9835 in order to ensure the attainment of national security, it failed to do so in a legal manner. Any national intelligence program such as the HUAC could not have legally used Truman s loyalty program in order to attain national security. The National Security Act of 1947 states that the methods of investigation utilized by national intelligence programs should be free of political considerations ( National Security Act of 1947, 12). Executive Order 9835 shows how the HUAC s methods of investigation failed to be independent of political considerations. As a broken loyalty program, Truman s Executive Order was very opinionated. Any individual or organization deemed disloyal by the government without any evidence of intending to subvert would be subject to further investigations done by congressional investigation committees and other national intelligence programs. Those conjectured as political leftists or fascists fell victim to loyalty screening despite not truly being of an insubordinate nature. In this way, the broken system of loyalty determination created by Executive Order 9835 cannot be justified through the attainment of national security since the Executive Order failed to be independent of political opinions. Consequently, the HUAC failed to comply with the official mandates of the National Security Act since its methods of investigation were politically biased. In accordance with Truman s ... (Thursday, 20 August 2009www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis) Being a partner is a strong motivating factor, You re not just an employee; you are an owner of the business. That makes you feel differently about everything. (Tom Miller department store director at JMP) Partners are paid more generously than employees at other retailers. They receive five weeks annual holiday, a 25 per cent discount and a final salary pension. There are other non financial motivators also. Partners can rent subsidized rooms in two large country estates, or stay at lakeside hotels in Snowdonia and the Lake District, or in a 16th century castle in Dorset. Five cruising yachts can be rented cheaply. And then there is the £60 annual subsidy on exhibitions, theatres, visitor attractions and comedy shows. The Cost Of Cost Costing Procedure costing is utilized when there is large scale manufacture of comparative items, where the expenses connected with individual units of yield can t be separated from one another. Under this idea, expenses are amassed over a settled time of time, abridged, and after that designated to the greater part of the units delivered amid that time of time on a predictable premise. At the point when items are rather being produced on an individual premise, occupation costing is utilized to amass costs and appoint the expenses to items. At the point when a creation procedure contains a few mass assembling and some modified components, then a crossover costing framework is utilized. Case in point, how would you focus the exact expense needed to make one gallon of flying fuel, when a great many gallons of the same fuel are spouting out of a refinery consistently? The expense bookkeeping technique utilized for this situation is procedure costing. Procedure costing is the main sensible methodology to deciding item costs in numerous commercial enterprises.
