Postpartum Depression Essay
Introduction
What is Postpartum Depression
Having a baby should be one of the happiest and most important events in a woman s life. However,
although life with a new baby can be both thrilling and rewarding, it can also be a difficult and quite
stressful task. Most women make the transition without great difficulty, yet some women experience
considerable complexity that may manifest itself as a postpartum psychiatric disorder (O hara,
Hoffman, Philips, Wright, 1992). Many physical and emotional changes can occur to a woman during
the time of her pregnancy as well as following the birth of her child. These particular changes can
leave a new mother feeling sad, anxious, afraid and confused. For many women, these feelings; which

Untreated postpartum affective illness places both the mother and infant at risk and is associated with
significant long term effects on child development and behavior; therefore, prompt recognition and
treatment of postpartum depression are essential for both the maternal and infant s well being.
Postpartum Psychosis
Conclusively, at the other end of the spectrum is the truly devastating postpartum psychosis. This is
known as a relatively rare disease that occurs in approximately 1 2 per 1,000 women after childbirth
(Campbell et al, 1991). The condition resembles a rapidly evolving manic episode with symptoms
such as restlessness and insomnia, irritability, rapidly shifting depressed or elated mood, and
disorganized behavior. The mother may have delusional beliefs that relate to the infant, or she may
have hallucinations that instruct her to harm herself or her child. Nonetheless, risks for infanticide and
suicide are high among women with this disorder.
As these patients often suffer from delusions and suicidal tendencies, the consequences of this disease
to both mother and child are significant. Furthermore, depressed mothers have an increased risk of
relapsing and/or continued psychiatric illness. Depressed mothers often show a more negative attitude
toward their children, and an injured new mother puts significant emotional and perhaps economic
burdens on family relationships. The

Evaluation Of The Performance Appraisal
Performance appraisals are used in business today as a means of providing critical feedback to
employees on their performance in the workplace. In a global environment, particular care needs to be
exercised to ensure the message delivered and received by employees is sensitive to the cultural
differences between the parties. This document will be discussing a situation where unintended
consequences arose during a performance appraisal. The document will provide for a synopsis of the
case study, background information, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of the performance
appraisal. A review of if the situation could have been avoided and should the supervisor have
anticipated the employee reaction will also be discussed. Finally, a review of culture sensitivity in
performance evaluations will be analyzed and to determine if the interaction style between the parties
was the reason for the ultimate outcome.
Synopsis of the Case Study John Baker had a prominent position in a company called Caribbean
Bauxite Company of Barracania in the West Indies and had recently received an assignment to transfer
to another location. John Baker had been grooming his successor for several years, a gentleman by the
name of Matthew Rennalls. Before leaving for his new assignment, John Baker wanted to ensure that
Rennalls received an updated performance evaluation and provide what he felt was critical feedback
to Rennalls. This feedback had aspects that were both positive and

I Am A Normal Human Being
First and foremost, I believe that I am a normal human being. I don t consider myself to be out of the
ordinary except for my love of Prince, but if you don t like Prince or his music, can you even call
yourself a human? I digress, I thought that going into this assignment I would find out more
interesting things about myself, however, I learned quickly that that wasn t really the case. See, what
was interesting to me was very boring and weird to others, especially my friends that aren t in theater.
When I would go up to them and explain the new things that I am doing, they would kind of just look
at me and secretly judge, but it also let me know that I was enjoying learning more about myself.
All my life I knew that I was flexible jointed and that I could do a lot of things such as putting my leg
over my head and interlocking my arms and moving them all around my body without breaking that
lock, but I also discovered that I could do other things without even noticing them. For instance, I tend
to bounce my knee whenever I am really into a story that I am telling, but also whenever I am really
passionate about something. Another thing that I noticed is that when I sit, I sway from side to side or
front to back, but I just have to be in motion. It s just something that allows me to burn off the extra
energy that is within me. I think that all the little things I do, such as leading with my left foot and
having my right face outward as I walk explains why it kind of looks like

VARK Survey Results
VARK Survey Results VARK is a website that helps its users understand their learning styles and
ways to improve on the way they learn. VARK discovers the user s learning strengths through a survey
of questions relating to situations where these strengths would be used. After I completed the VARK
survey my results turned out to be multimodal, and I agree with the results. This means that out of the
various categories I could have been assigned, the survey revealed that I learn better from two types of
strategies combined. These two learning strategies consist of Aural strategies and kinetic strategies.
The Aural strategies are methods that suggest that I learn better from listening, discussing, talking,
questioning, and recalling the information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it came to reading manuals and text, that process would take me a much longer time to
understand because I had a tough time creating the image of the topic being discussed. I credit my
adaptation to Auroral and Kinesthetic learning strategies to my career in the United States Navy.
While I served eight years in the United States Navy my job consisted of working on the flight deck of
an aircraft carrier, and directing aircraft to launch off the carrier, and recover/land back onto the
carrier. The type of learning I experienced while in working on an aircraft carrier in the United States
Navy consisted of non associative sensitization (Grison, S., Heatherton, T.F., Gazzangia, M.S., p.196).
The dangers surrounding this job required my supervisors to often train me through strategies that
corresponded with auroral and kinesthetic learning strategies, and it made me feel more comfortable
with the job I had. Visually and verbally understanding what my supervisor/instructor showed me
gave me assurance that it was a task that could be

Birth Control Is A Powerful Tool
Birth control is a powerful tool. It gives women the power to choose when they are ready to have a
baby, with whom they wish to have it with, and how many children to limit the family to. In the past,
women had no control over childbearing due to many restrictions. With Margaret Sanger s efforts,
birth control awareness became accepted by the people and the legal system, changing the lives of
countless women in their fight towards equal opportunity. She changed the way that childbearing was
viewed in America and paved a road that led to gender equality.
Limited knowledge of contraceptives caused great suffering for women during Margaret Sanger s
childhood. Starting from 1873, a law called the Comstock Act that decreed it illegal to ... Show more

This impacted Sanger s life to such a great extent that it put her on the path to becoming a birth control
advocate, fighting for the rights of women.
Margaret Sanger developed an interest in birth control advocacy through her involvement in the
movement for women s rights, dedicating her life in support of contraceptive awareness. In the early
1900s, women began advocating for greater access to contraception and birth control information,
both to increase women s independence and to decrease unwanted pregnancies and illegal abortions (
State Abortion Laws ). Sanger joined the movement, becoming a member of many female rights
organizations. As a member of the Socialist Party and a woman s labor organizer, Sanger met
[influential] leader such as Eugene V. Debs, Emma Goldman, and Bill Haywood of the Industrial
Workers of the World (IWW) . As a result of influence from Goldman and other radical women,
Sanger became convinced that married women could never become equal without being able to
control childbearing (McPherson and Gertle).
The popular women s rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s emphasized reproductive rights as an
essential component of women s liberation that would lead to gender equality. Feminists argued that
only once a woman can control her reproductive lives can she fully participate in society as

Maine Explosion
x On a peaceful night at the Coco Havana the Maine one of the first warships owned by the U.S.
Costing over 2 million dollars and weighing approximately 6,000 tons blew up in an explosion. After
taking about 9 years to build the ship, it was all ready to sail the seas. The Maine then sailed the
Atlantic Ocean for 3 years, after which it settled in Havana, Cuba in January of 1898. On the night of
February 15,1898 the ship was blown up in an explosion. This is an article on whether it was an
internal or external explosion that sank the Maine. After doing some research, I found my position on
the issue. I believe the sinking of the Maine was an internal explosion. After years of investigation in
the 1900s, they did not come up with a specific reason for the explosion. However, some Americans
blamed Spain. As you may know the effect of this explosion was the Spanish American war. Which
gave Cuba independence and America gained leadership of Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.

Outsourcing Service From A Supplier
Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can
supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product
or service a company has never provided before.
In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would
design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support...
regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became
obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to
outsource complex portions of their work.
Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the
recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR
function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting.
The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk.
In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core
competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. It can expand
the customer base and allow organizations to focus more on relationships. As outsourcing grows, it
becomes more and more important to balance advantages and disadvantages, understand the risks, and
act to mitigate those risks.

Andrew Jackson Tyrant Essay
Should we assume that a president was a tyrant or a champion of the common man based solely on
how they acted or should we step into their shoes first? Andrew Jackson s presidency made him one of
the most controversial presidents that has ever existed in the history of the United States of America.
Andrew Jackson for many was a cruel tyrant who reinstated the tax on british goods with Tariff of

Andrew Jackson also created the Indian Removal Act of 1830 which end result would be the Trail of

Oyster Dress By Alexander Mcqueen
Art is all around us. There are many different forms of art. It can be something created, captured, or it
can be already existent. Not a single person is to say what makes something art because there is a
different definition for everyone. However, there are a couple factors that come into mind whenever
someone decides to declare something as art. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting four
different pieces of art. I will be discussing each art piece s form, time period of creation, intention or
purpose, and value. These four pieces of art are Michelangelo s Pieta, Fountain by Marcel Duchamp,
Mark Rothko s No.61, and the Oyster Dress by Alexander McQueen. These works of art come in all

61 (Rust and Blue). This piece is a painting that was layered with color on canvas. Rothko decided to
use layered colors to enrich the hues in the painting and to lend it a quality that artist described a that
of inner light (mark rothko.org). This piece was created in 1953. This piece, Fountain, and the Oyster
dress were all created in close proximity to each other in comparison to Pieta, which was created
between 1498 and 1499. This piece by Rothko consists of large expanses of colour delineated by
uneven, hazy shades (mark rothko.org). From the documentary we watched on Rothko the other day
in class, I learned that he wanted his paintings to evoke the basic human emotions. Although this piece
is simple it is meant to resonate with the audience so that they can personally connect with it I some
way. I think this is a very different approach to art. Most artists try to paint a scene, or have a story
behind their art but Rothko approaches his art with emotion in hopes that it evokes emotion with
others. This piece was created in a relatively similar time period to some of the other pieces, but its
materials and intention are different from all of the other

General Bernard Montgomery s Larg Operation Market Garden
The year is 1944, and the Allies are drawing closer to victory everyday. A daring plan arises soon after
the successful invasion of Normandy; this plan, alternatively, ends in disaster. Had everything gone as
the good General Bernard Montgomery had hoped, the war would have been finished by Christmas; a
large blow against the Germans was needed to relieve the troops in Normandy, who were then facing
both German soldiers and difficult, unfamiliar terrain. General Montgomery had devised a plan that
would push the Allies through Holland and past the strongest of Germany s defences. The idea was
simple: the Allied Airborne Division would drop paratroopers in, who would then take eight important
bridges around Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem. These troops would then fight through Nazi
controlled Holland and into the heart of Germany, winning the war.
The historic battle of Arnhem was codenamed Operation Market Garden. When it was conceived, the
idea was that a quick strike through Holland and into Germany would be able to end the war and bring
relief to the troops battling through terrain and soldiers in Normandy. The original plan was very much
like the invasion of Normandy: a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a small number of people made it across the Rhine, only a single bridge was held for any length
of time, and there was a high rate of casualties. Instead of helping to stop the war as expected, the
operation was nothing but a waste of life and resources. It would be another few months before the
Allies made it across the Rhine and into Germany s industrial area. Had the operation been canceled,
the resources could have been diverted elsewhere, and may have been more help at ending the war. As
it is, Operation Market Garden will forever go down as a stain on history; if more intelligence and
time had gone into planning the operation, it could have turned the tide of the war and allowed the
Allies a much quicker, less painful

County Administrator Of Facilities Management Essay
Four district facilities managers or superintendents shall be reporting to the county administrator of
facilities management. This means that the structure to be adopted is a divided one in which each
location shall be prioritizing projects as well as competing for funding on basis of individual location
needs (Devaney, 2016). Each district location essentially has its own wish list instead of embarking on
the creation of a prioritized and comprehensive assessment of needs as well as funding on basis of the
needs of the county. Through the decentralized facilities management model, facilities services are to
be offered in a clustered manner by making sure that they all provide various operations, sometimes
with or without consistency in the level of services offered, or standard operating procedures from one
district and/or location to another. The decentralized structure is anticipated to work well after it has
been implemented, and if appropriately carried out it can result to an effectively functioning model.
However, considering the extent of the county s growth over the recent past, it is apparently clear that
the proposed decentralization of high quality shops from a remodeling of an existing are need to be
improved in order to ensure that communities living in the districts where the project is to be
implemented receive effective, consistent, as well as efficient services (Alkhafaji, 2013; Larson Gray,
2011).
Consequently, considering that this project involves a

Women Were Not For The Public World
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it was widely believed that women were not suited
for the public world (p.493). It is no secret that women were treated less than a man, and that belief
proves it. Women took a stand for themselves by creating groups for women with similar beliefs to
come together and show the world that they are equal to men. The groups they established aided the
community in several different ways. Some supported local public places and others passed laws that
improved women s and children s quality of life. Through the hard work of these groups, many
different career paths opened up to women that were originally labeled a man s job. If it wasn t for the
women who asserted their authority back then, I may not have been granted the rights I have today to
even be in this class. Originally women s employment options were limited, as jobs were often sorted
by gender. Job openings in industrial work were often filled with men. The few women that broke the
mold and worked in an industrial setting were more likely to be laid off or to experience wage
reductions (page 573). This seemed to be a common trend amongst other male driven careers.
Although women with an education could work their way into male driven professions like
physicians, lawyers, engineers, scientists, and corporate managers (page 493), most women found
security being employed in careers such as teaching, nursing and social work. Many social work job

Ted Green And Youtube Analysis
A smoky bar,a large concert hall or an open air festival are just a few of the places where one imagines
jazz to be performed. Bluesy, soulful, or very traditional, jazz comes in many guises due to the players
drawing from many influences. As music is a form of expression, it also seems reasonable to
hypothesise that life experiences will also colour their musical development. Imagine now a jazz artist
has just divorced is wife, how would this effect his compositions at that moment in time? It would be
reasonable to assume that this artist would compose a piece of music that would personify his feelings.
Some of these musicians went on to break the boundaries of their time and influenced their peers and
others who came after them. Whatever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

music that gave him the determination to continue and attended jazz guitar lessons. Similarly, George
Benson also became interested in music at a young age. At eight years old he was performing, though
not as a guitarist, but as a singer. He did not start concentrating on the guitar until he was in his mid to

George became interested in jazz. From this it can be seen that there is a similarity, both guitarists had
a passion for music at an early stage of their life. It seems reasonable to suggest that the major
difference between them is Ted started learning jazz guitar at a younger age and was more interested
in expanding his knowledge, whereas George Benson seemed more interested in performing. In the

Joseph Campbell, American mythologist and religious writer, once said, A hero is someone who has
given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. A human being who is brave and represents

One who is fair minded, altruistic, and tenacious. They are all heroes of this world. Saint John Paul II

The Importance Of A Cultural Framework That Is Suitable...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Budgets are very important part of business environment. They are considered to be essential key
drivers and evaluators for planning and control as well as managerial performance since 1920 (Reka et
al., 2014). This report aims to investigate how to promote a cultural framework that is suitable for the
modern dynamic business environment. Firstly, it will explain the concept of budgetary control, It will
then point out advantages and disadvantages of the current traditional system and how some
weaknesses can be addressed by implementing Beyond Budgeting (BB) using practical examples of
organisations that have been successful and what were the problems that they have encountered. It will
also discuss why some organisations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2 Benefits of Traditional Budgeting
Budgeting is a management control technique that can be used as an early warning system. Budgets
are of great help as a support performance management (Pietrzak, 2013). It can provide a detailed
information insight of the next fiscal year, which allows managers to set performance objectives much
more easily, make decisions and plan ahead. For example: When recession hit Europe in 2008, Davis
Service Group was able to assess effects and was able to build new and accurate theories for the
remainder of 2008. By recognizing and handling risks, Davis has been able to return profits, dividends
and cash flow for shareholders in a challenging economic environment.
Budgets generate a point of reference, making it easier for managers to accomplish activities with
stability. As long as managers can meet the set parameters, budgeting and the use of budget cost
centers provide them with the liberty to run their operations (Neely at al., 2003).
Budgets are a great communication tool used when obtaining information about company or e.g.
activities of its competitors. They also help in expressing ideas, goals and strategies of projects
between team members/employees and outside resources or potential investors, motivating employee
to drive forward.
2.3 Drawbacks of Traditional Budgeting
To make budgets is a very long and time consuming process, when organisations are trying to get

Understanding The Meaning Of Love
What is love? Many people do not know the meaning of love, they think that it is what we feel but it s
what we do that demonstrates love. (Deem, 2011). There are many ways to express your love to your
family or friends but there is one true love, God. I will be discussing the biblical meaning of love and
what God wants us to apply to ourselves to have healthy relationships by representing his love to
others. There are four types of love which are Forge, Eros, Philia and Agape. (Wellman, 2014)
Forge is family love as in love for your parents, siblings, and children. (Wellman, 2014). According to
Merriam Webster the meaning is Parental affection; the instinctive affection which animals have for
their young. Parents manifest this love by providing their family members with shelter, protection, and
financial needs. Older brothers demonstrate this love by providing support and protection to their
younger siblings especially if they are being bullied or mistreated. In Proverbs 31:15 17 you see the
love of a mother towards her whole household, it states She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast
for her household and plan the day s work for her servant girls. She goes to inspect a field and buys it;
with her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. (NLT).
The love between a man and a woman which is sensual love, acceptable in marriage is Eros.
(Wellman, 2014). There are many people that practice this type of love outside of marriage which is

Good Morning Vietnam Analysis
In Good Morning Vietnam, the movie shows the story Adrian Cronauer and his experience as a radio
DJ in 1965 Vietnam. In the movie, Adrian is a witty and impulsive comic that likes to do his own
thing which does not go over well with the General Major who is in charge. However, Adrian s
comedy and wit help to make his radio shows entertaining for the troops and he becomes respected
among many of the men in the army. Although Adrian is censored, he still tried to inform the troops
and went against the normal protocol. Good Morning Vietnam gives a unique look into the war and
shows the frustration of both sides. The only villains that seem to arise are the ones who hold Adrian
back or the ones who are confused and angry at the misfortunate that had fallen upon their home in
Vietnam. Overall, this movie showed the good and bad sides of the war while also giving an inside
look into the experience of one man. The movie helped to showcase the main themes of conflict in
war, censorship of the news and events, and confusion among civilians and soldiers.
Although this movie does not showcase the time period using clothing or unique hairstyles, it reflects
the 60s through the different music that Adrian includes in his radio station. Adrian plays songs from
James Brown, the Beach Boys, and references icons of the time such as the Beatles and the Rolling
Stones. The rebellious nature of the music reflects not only Adrian s attitude, but also the rebellion
against the war that took off

Explain What Makes A Good Role Model
What makes a good role model and how can I ensure that I act as a role model for employees I
supervise? To be a good role model it boils down to three basic things Practice what you preach, be
kind to people and know your job. People are going to imitate those that they admire, so if you are the
manager and you are lax in the guidelines, policy and procedure that you choose to follow, chances are
the employees that you are supervising will follow your lead and they will also be lax in their
treatment of the workplace policy and procedure. This leads to a very untidy workplace both in person
and attitude. Knowing when you can bend the rules a little for a customer who is having a bad day or
if you are looking to build a little goodwill between yourself and a client, but the rules are there for a

Addiction And The Treatment Of Addiction
What if I was to tell you that everything you know about addiction is untrue? What if I was to say that
our pre conceived views on addiction were based on ignorance. It s pretty simple really, it s about
CONNECTION NOT addiction.
Good morning Mrs. Arnold, Ms. Shields and class, today I will be talking to you about addiction and
arguing how the treatment of this disease is actually quite simple. 1) we disconnected them from their
substance abuse 2) we reconnected them with important people in their lives who they love a value,
regardless of how damaged that relationship has become 3) 100% on time and energy should be spent
on strong relationships and moving them to next stage in their lives.
Have you ever watched someone you love fall into a spiral of darkness, crowded with pain, self
anguish and pure contradiction of both love and hatred for their weakness?.
A weakness which has both defined and collapsed every relationship, every situation that they have.
Despite this fixation, this person is thoroughly aware that it is in fact an enslavement, they know the
consequences, they are acquainted with direct results. And yet they continue to endeavor with this
drug. Why?
Firstly, I would like to begin by telling you all, that everything you know or have been taught about
addiction or the treatment of addiction, is untrue. Despite being students, we seem to have these pre
conceived ideas and ignorant views as to what this disease actually is. Deny it or not, I ve heard

Primary Causes Of Constipation
Review of Literature
Constipation is a common, yet complex symptom that may be idiopathic or manifest secondary to an
underlying disorder. While it is generally not life threatening on its own, constipation has a significant
adverse impact on the comfort and quality of life clinically affecting about 10 19% of the American
population at any one time (Smeltzer, Bare, Hinkle Cheever, 2013, p.1286). A symptom rather than a
disease, causation is defined as either primary or secondary. Primary causes relate to the dysfunction
of colonic motility, defecation, or both. Secondary causes of constipation are related to medications,
lifestyle, neuropathological problems, endocrine disturbances, metabolic or may be related to
neuropathological issues (Andrews Storr, 2011, p.16B; Marples, 2011, p.41). There are two criteria
that are used in the canon of literature related to chronic constipation. The American College of
Gastroenterology defines constipation as a symptom based disorder characterized by unsatisfactory
defecation due to infrequent stools, difficult stool passage, or both (Gallegos Orozco, Foxx Orenstein,
Sterler Stoa, 2012, p.18). Used for symptoms that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why The Iranian Revolution Occur During A Time Of National...
Identification and Evaluation of Sources:
This investigation will answer the question, what caused the Iranian revolution to occur during a time
of national progress and prosperity? This question is important because the Iranian revolution baffled
the rest of the world, as nobody expected a newly progressive and economically stable nation as Iran
to have its government overthrown. The scope of this investigation is the events throughout the 20th
century that put the family of monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi into power and the family s fall from
power, but more focused on the latter. It s important to see how the Pahlavi family rose to power to

It is however limited in that it is translated from Turkish and has a number of phrases that require
personal interpretation and therefore need to be assessed by other sources. The piece goes over the
conflict between the current Shah, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, and the leader of the revolution
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. It also discusses how Ayatollah Khomeini s followers actually opposed
each other, but opposed the Shah more. It also explains how the Shah s progressive attitude offended
some for being too progressive, and some for not being progressive enough. This resulted in another
conflict upon the abdication of the Shah, as to what the republic of Iran should be. In the end, Ayatolla
Khomeini was declared Supreme Leader for life.

Investigation:
It s important to understand the background of how the Pahlavi family came into power. In the early
19th century, Iran was undergoing its Constitutional Revolution. The Shah at the time, Muzaffar al
Din Shah, was near death, and decided to allow the revolution. A constitution was written, and a new
Shah, Mohammad Ali Shah, succeeded Muzaffar al Din Shah (Balaghi). The new constitution
organized a parliament which was quickly corrupted by Mohammad Ali Shah, in turn leading to
another revolution in favor of his eleven year old son, Ahmad Shah Qajar, who was ineffective as a
ruler and left a hole of power. This is when Reza Shah

What Is The Purpose Of This Poem
Next to of course God America I Sir Ahmad Salman Rushdie, a novelist, essayist and a Fellow of the
British Royal Society of Literature, explains the purpose of poetry [a] poet s work . . . [is] to name the
unnamable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world and stop it from going to

Analyzing these contents propose that the narrator of the poem is likely a politician, a corrupted
politician. This is because he kept on jumbling his ideas throughout his speech; it is a speech because
of the quotation marks. First, the politician declared his love to god and America, which he described
it as the land of Pilgrims, and dismissed to continue saying so forth as if he is saying to his audience
that they know the usual boring mantra. Afterwards, as if the word America is the trigger; the national
anthem of the United State of America is being sung. Next, he started yet another patriotic song about
America My Country, Tis of Thee which is used to be the national anthem of the country before
adopting the current one (The Gilder Lehrman). In the sixth line, the farce of speech reaches a point
that is best describe as [h]is view that the hearing impaired and the mute speak a different language is
outrageously offensive ( Next to of Course ). Then, the speaker starts using a sophisticated ward thy to
give his speech an appearance of eloquence, covering the meaning with the words. Thereafter, another

means a person who professes his or her patriotism loudly and excessively, favoring vigilant
preparedness for war and an aggressive foreign policy; bellicose chauvinist ( jingo ). This definition is
also describing the narrator s false patriotism. After that, the lines from 9 to 13 are about the veterans
who die in wars in the name of their country; the honor of these soldiers death is being claimed by the
politician, who all he does is a verbal action, while the other party is serving their country by physical
actions. The line then shall the voice of liberty be mute? is a confirmation of his verbal contribution to
his country, which he thinks it should not be muted as it

One Minute Manager. Mr. Trenell tells the man about One Minute Goal Setting. This involves a six
step process. First, you must agree on your goals. Second, see what good behavior looks like in order
to achieve goals. Next, you write out each of your goals on a single sheet of paper using less than 250
words. After that you read and re read each goal, which requires only a minute or so each time you do
it. Then, take a minute every once in a while out of your day to look at your performance. Finally, see
whether or not your behavior matches your goal (pg. 34). Once the young man learned One Minute
Goal Setting, he was on his way to meet Mr. Levy to learn the next step. Mr. Levy goes into the topic
of One Minute Praisings. To start a One Minute Praising, you first must tell people up front that you

and tell them what the did right while being specific. Tell people how good you feel about what they

On The Waterfront Analysis
In the 1954 film, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, Terry Malloy, played by Marlon Brando,
an inarticulate former prizefighter in his late twenties, serves as a petty errand boy for the union head,
Johnny Friendly. The Hoboken, New Jersey port across the river from Manhattan, is the setting of the
film where gangs run the docks and work in the area. The film shows realism in many different
cinematic and thematic ways throughout the film. In the sense of cinematically, this film was filmed
on the actual docks of New Jersey in the winter time. Kazan is able to brilliantly create the realistic
port feel by filming on scene and using the natural surroundings as his canvas . The cargo ships in the
background coming in and out, the slummy docks where men find work, and the local bars from the
area. These natural settings and props made the film real and alive as it was what was actually going
on in the ports. The background sounds on the dock ships whistles and chains clanging through metal
loops add to the realistic aural environment. Kazan also uses the natural cold and winter to film in
which give the film a realistic mise en scène. Breaths are visible and steam up in the bone cold air. A
small detail like this suggests the brutal treatment these dock workers face daily, not only from the
corrupt union officials but from the elements themselves. The visible breaths also affirm the unique
existence of each character. Kazan casted not just actors to play these though

What Is The Theme Of The Golden Lily By Gold Sartin
The devious plot line jumped back and forth in time as to portray the tumultuous era of Malaysia s

independent country including communist insurgents, British settlers, Malaysian and the Chinese
ethnicities. The communists wanted to establish a communist regime while the Chinese folks wanted
to preserve their economic gains. The power struggle happens under the eyes of two former imperialist

Was he really stripped from his position as the Emperor s private gardener or was he given a special
mission to ensure the success of the mysterious Golden Lily s plan? The question is left up to the
readers to decide. In the novel the author only provides the facts through different characters action
such as Tatsuji s research on the Golden Lily plan. Was the tattoo on Yun Ling a map of the
concentration s camp? Metaphorically it may also represent the mark of the past and the tumultuous
Japanese occupation. Is his disappearance a sign of revolt in the face of Japanese atrocities or an
attempt to destroy the traces of Japanese atrocities perpetuated in the name of the emperor? Like a
boulder, the reader can only see the visible surface of his personality. Yun Ling mentions: he turned to
me, touching the side of his head lightly. At that moment it struck me that he was similar to the
boulders on which we had spent the entire morning working. Only a small portion was revealed to the
world; the rest was buried deep within, hidden from view. He is the picture of an ideal spy: he is one
of the main characters in the novel but we don t see his true personality; he remains a shadow like
those in Plato s cave. Is it a sign of denying the visible collective guilt? This novel may be the
antithesis of Ruth Ozeki s work A Tale for the Time Being when Ozeki tries to explain or show the

Worst Dog Food Brand
Top 10 worst dog food brands.
Choosing what to feed your dog can seem a little overwhelming and it sometimes might come down to
cooking his or her food yourself. Because of not knowing which dog food brand is really harmful for
your dog? Probably the stuff you re feeding her now. Because the worst dog foods are the most
fashionable ones on the market. And too many chemicals and low priced filler ingredients eaten
frequently by our pets are the same as us eating a strictly over processed fast food diet daily for life. I
understand you want to keep your dog healthy! To do that, it is essential to give him the diet closest to
that of his ancestral wild dogs... meat or fish. preferably, his food should contain at least 75 percent
protein from genuine meat or fish and 25 percent vegetable and fruit products.
Unfortunately, it s not easy at all to tell what the worst dog food brand is. Most of the ingredients just
look customized to comply with a dog s digestive tract but the fact is the ingredients are terrible. So,
whatever you do, stay away from dog foods that don t contain meat, but meat by products. By
products can mean any part of an animal except meat; they are waste products, and may not even
contain any protein. Stay away from corn, or any type of grain product, particularly flour; dogs are
usually allergic to these food. Avoid preservatives, chemicals, artificial flavors and colorants. And stay

The President and Congress have always and will always butt heads, it s a simple fact of life, but after
the 1876 Presidential election, Congress grew increasingly bitter. Troops had been placed in polling
places all throughout the South with the intention of stopping any and all ex Confederate officers from
attempting to vote, it seemed reasonable enough at the time considering it was against the law for
former Confederate officers to vote. Congress, having been made up of mostly Democrats, was
becoming rather frustrated once they realized just who was going to win the Presidential election.
What resulted from the supposed intimidation tactics used by the Army at the polling places was the
election of Rutherford B. Hayes into Presidential office. Congress s nightmare certainly came true. As
per what usually occurs when you mix a Democratic Congress with a Republican President (or vice
versa), butting heads occurred more often than not. Congress s response to the seemingly highly
influenced election of 1876 was the enactment of the Posse Comitatus Act, in order to outlaw the
practice of posse comitatus. The suggested purpose behind the enactment of the Posse Comitatus Act
is that Congress wanted to stop the Army from being called to perform miniscule, civilian, law
enforcement duties. However, since that initial suggestion, it has been found that

They are systems that are accessed from heterogeneous architectures like different operating systems
[6]. One of the main aspects in open hypermedia system is that they have Link bases and Link
services, but links and anchors are separated from the documents which allows an easier filtration and
modifications for documents and files, since they have first class links as opposed to the World Wide
Web which uses embedded links [6,8,9]. In Microcosm for example, you need to ask the system to see
what links might be available from a specific document while W3 just shows all the links [6].
Microcosm architecture was similar to Dexter s, it has a document management system that takes care
of the structures within nodes, it has the presentation layer that is responsible for displaying the
information and it has the link services which gives the links that are accessible from a document [6].
Parsing documents in Microcosm was done through decomposed filters which resulted in a
complicated architecture regarding other systems that uses the client/server one, but it allowed a very
rich model of linking especially with the generic link [6]. In addition, it allowed a flexible document
processing since it has multiple link bases and had an integration with third party applications [6].

Maria Montessori Curriculum Essay
The Montessori Curriculum Model Dina Fikeru, Evealin Cruz, Olga Cruz, Althea Robinson, Talaya
Thompson Montessori Curriculum 1. Underlying Philosophy Montessori education curriculum is
based on the philosophy of continuous development, love, caring and uniqueness. In the Montessori
classroom, every child is provided with unique opportunities to develop both moral and cognitive
skills in areas that motivate students (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if a child loves construction, the
teacher may provide construction materials such as small boxes, tapes and superglue that is necessary
for assembling the boxes together. This makes learning both interactive and enjoyable. The role of
significant adults such as teachers is to provide guidance on what the child should do to realize his/her
goals (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if the child is defeated on how to assemble the boxes, the teacher
should guide the child until the child has fully mastered the task. 2. Historical Perspectives The history
of Montessori s curriculum dates back to 1906 when Maria Montessori founded the first Children s
House by the name Casa dei Bambini in Rome, Italy (Isaacs, 2015). It was in this children s house that
Maria developed a keen interest on how children develop their cognitive abilities and moral behavior.
She realized that every child possesses unique skills and talents that should not be generalized in a
single classroom (Ansari Winsler, 2014). In other words, Montessori

Now, I know what you are all thinking. Leah, why did you stay? Honestly, I can t really answer this

Similarities Between The American And French Revolution
The comparison between the American and French revolution. During these two time periods a lot is
going on. For example because of the enlightenment period America got their independence from
Britain. Or if it wasn t for napoleon making all those bad choices in France they wouldn t have got
their independence either. This all happened because each individual at that time wanted a change and
they would work hard for it maybe sometimes not even sleep but that motivation in or it was just a
feeling is what changes the world entirely and it could happen by just one person to persevere. In the
American Revolution they started to realize that they needed independence when the British fought
against France because they wanted northern America and before that battle it was owned by French.
After a fight Britain is supposed to give money to the colonies but they put a law out that said that
very deed they said they were supposed to do had to be stamped and since the deed from America didn

With Amrita Ramachandaran s interview, a lot of clarity on the correlation between the theory and
practice of entrepreneurship was obtained through her journey and experiences as an entrepreneur.
Amrita with two of her friends started Right click, a brand communication company in 2010 and by
what I understood she followed a model of effectual entrepreneurship.
According to Saras D. Sarasvathy All entrepreneurs begin with three categories of means: (1) who
they are―their traits, tastes, and abilities; (2) what they know―their education, training, expertise,
and experience; and, (3) whom they know―their social and professional networks. Using these
means, the entrepreneurs begin to imagine and implement possible effects that can be created with
them. 2
In the case of right click, Amrita knew that she possesses the traits and abilities to become an
entrepreneur because she always desired to do something of her own. Her education and training was
in mass media and communication which sought her experience and expertise in the fields of
communication and branding. Her social network comprised of her colleagues from her previous jobs,
clients, family and friends. All this combined enabled Amrita to take the plunge into entrepreneurship.

The Importance Of An Ideal Environment For Working...
All four processes collaboration, consultation, teamwork, and co teaching, as they occur in the school
context, involve interaction among school personnel, families, and students working together to
achieve common goals. (Dettmer, Dyck, Thurston, 2005, p. 7)
Keeping that in mind, my goal is to empower students by using all four processes. As professionals,
we must support students in attaining not only academic skills but also in developing the skills,
knowledge, and attitudes they need to become caring and successful citizens.
Through collaboration, ideas can be shared, new and better strategies can be developed, problems can
be solved, students progresses can be better monitored, and their outcomes are evaluated effectively. ¬
(Lee, 1996).
Teamwork fuels group spirit, develops process skills that help teachers interact in more productive
ways, and fosters a more intellectual atmosphere. (Maeroff, 1993).
Another goal
2. What do you describe as an ideal environment for working together with students, their families, co
educators, and related services personnel and support personnel in the community?
An ideal environment is one where we all work as a team and as a team; we must all share a common
goal. In order to create such environment, we must practice the following:
There should be trust amongst each other in order to be able to work together successfully.
According to Dettmer, Knackendoffel, Thurston (2009), when we have trust, others are more likely to:

Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird
INTERTEXTUAL STUDY
Compare the ways in which the authors of both texts explore the idea of racism
Racism has been a major problem in the world for hundreds of years and it has never been resolved
nor it will never be resolved.
Harper Lee s 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Joel Schumacher s 1996 film, A Time To Kill,
both share similarities in the way racism is explored throughout both texts.
Racial violence and discrimination are two major themes that are depicted within both texts, but the
most important theme overall is the acceptance between the two races which is shown in both texts.
To Kill A Mockingbird and A Time To Kill are two very similar texts that share the same plot and the
same meaning.
Both texts explore the idea if racism through the theme of racial violence.

Racial discrimination is the main type of discrimination throughout the novel when compared with
class or gender.
The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom Robinson, a
black man is wrongly accused of rape and assault on Mayella, a white woman.
When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the
top level of the courtroom to show that they were not important and that their opinion doesn t matter.
Discrimination is also shown in the film, A Time To Kill, when, again, in the courtroom blacks were to
sit on the top level.
Not only is discrimination shown in the courtroom, but also in the town.
For example, the two races were living on different sides of the town, blacks were not allowed to
associate with whites let alone touch them or nearly look at them.
Lee and Schumacher provide evidence that shows discrimination as being a major theme used
throughout both texts.
Acceptance was an important theme shown in both

Who killed Biggie Smalls? The notorious B.I.G was a well known rapper that represented the east

Design and Production of a game that Supports the...
This assignment incudes the design and production of a game that supports the emotional and social
aspects of learning (SEAL). The game was created to meet the specific needs of children who are the
siblings of a disabled child. The relationship of the author s game and the SEAL programme will be
considered. Thereafter the way in which children acquire emotional understanding and its impact on
social development will be explored. Finally the author will explain the reasoning for the game and
how it will help to meet the unique needs of the children it was designed for.
The authors game is designed to be used in support of, and as an extension to, the Social and
Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) programme Good to be me element (2005), which addresses
the management of feelings, self awareness and showing empathy. The game is intended to be used
with children who have a disabled sibling. The object of the game is twofold, firstly it is for the users
to be able to recognise, name and talk about the emotions that they experience as a sibling of a
disabled child, secondly to become aware that some of their peers are in similar situations to
themselves which may help them feel less isolated. As Children develop they gain more emotional
understanding, becoming aware of their own feelings and the feelings of others. Weimer, Sallquist and
Bolnick (2012) suggest that programs and initiatives that promote children s social emotional
awareness may enhance their development of

Future Plans Executive Summary Business Overview Energy, especially from fossil fuels, is a key
ingredient for all sectors of a modern economy and plays a fundamental role in improving the quality
of life in less developed economies. In 2007, India is ranked fifth in the world in terms of energy
demand; accounting for 3.6% of total energy consumed, and is expected to grow at 4.8% in the future.

The first step would be the feasibility study for the plant. It would look after the constraints such as
the raw material supply, the processing of the biomass in to electricity, the consistency in energy
generation, the supply side of the electricity, and various other factors that might directly or indirectly
affect the generation of electricity. Once the feasibility study is done selection of site for establishing
the plant takes the driver¡¦s seat. The plant must be located where the raw material access and energy
supply is not a problem. A closed loop must be made in collaboration with the local farmers and mills
(sugarcane, wood, rice processing plants) for the uninterrupted supply of biomass. The capacity of the
plant must be decided keeping in mind the investments in to account. Also storage capacity must be
decided for the biomass as a major portion of it is cyclical in nature. Next in line is the study of the
market for electricity in the region and planning for the distribution of the same. The marketing
strategy needs to be finalized to take care of the supply side. Keeping all the above factors in to
account, site near Surat which is a hub for various textile mills, chemical plants and others small and
medium enterprises has been identified. There are more than one thousand textile mills located in
Gujrat and out of these more than 50 percent mills are situated in this area only. These centers would

Alternative Dispute Resolution Essay
Within the first part of my essay alternative dispute resolution (ADR) will be examined. I will have a
critical look at the key types as well as their usefulness in fulfilling the objective of access to justice.
ADR represents a variety of processes all aiming to resolve disputes between potential litigants out of
court. The parties agree on the type of process used and the independent third party. The main reason
for adopting ADR, however, is dissatisfaction with litigation. Especially after the introduction of new
issue fees that came into force on January 4th , many people are deterred from bringing their disputes
to court by the financial barriers.
Colin Ettinger, President of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, describes ... Show more

A further advantage is the high settlement rate and that the parties normally keep to mediated
agreements, as they have constructively worked on it rather than have a decision imposed on them.
(Data source: http://adrr.com/adr3/other.htm).
The mediator s decision is non binding (except when it is signed) and in the case of a failed mediation,
court, tribunals or other ADR options can be the following steps.
However, this can be a disadvantage because a failing mediation and the following measures can be
very time consuming.
Conciliation has some overlaps with mediation but the conciliator takes a more active role in leading
the parties to a consensus of opinion. The disputants do not usually meet; the conciliator conducts
discussions separately with each party before he gives guidance on settling the dispute. His opinion
then forms the basis of an agreement. The parties are free to agree on this. Concerning employment
disputes, sometimes the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) suggests that disputes
should be settled by means of conciliation. If the process is successful, mediation and conciliation are
good examples for overcoming the problems of litigation and facilitating the ease of access to justice.
Nevertheless, the non binding agreement is the first essential problem of both mediation and
conciliation because a solution is no use when one party does not accept it. The second problem is
that, in the absence of a third

Dante Symphony Essay
Around the year 1855 Franz Liszt began working on the composition for one of his most praised
works, The Dante Symphony. The Dante Symphony is based of Dante s Divina Commedia, which was
introduced to Liszt by his mistress Marie D Agoult. The Symphony is composed of two movements
depicting Dante s Inferno and Purgatorio. At first Liszt wanted to depict the three movements of Dante
s Divina Commedia but an effective representation of Paradise in music, Wagner insisted was
impossible, and he counseled Liszt to abandon plans for an elaborate choral finale (Grey, pg.56).
However, towards the end of the sonata Liszt gives a glimpse of Paradise from afar, setting it further
from our reach, showing that Paradise is beyond comprehensible and how ... Show more content on

The introduction for the symphony, the Inferno, is slow and begins with three themes, the first theme
repeating itself. Each theme reflecting the lines that are inscribed over the Gates of Hell, the last theme
being Lasciate ogni speranza mi ch entrate! which translates to All hope abandon, ye who enter here
(Alighieri 9). After the three themes have been depicted there is a descent motif which word paints or
reflects Dante and Virgil as they descend into hell. One can find word painting in the descent into hell,
laughter painted into parts of the symphony, and the first people Dante sees in hell who where neither
good nor evil who seem to tread back and forth a path, which Liszt paints in his symphony with
melodies that go in one direction and then reverse themselves. There are many examples of word
painting in The Dante Symphony, which help the viewer imagine even more so the occurrences within
Dante s decent into hell, giving one a whole new experience and idea of Dante s Divina

  • 2. Postpartum Depression Essay Introduction What is Postpartum Depression Having a baby should be one of the happiest and most important events in a woman s life. However, although life with a new baby can be both thrilling and rewarding, it can also be a difficult and quite stressful task. Most women make the transition without great difficulty, yet some women experience considerable complexity that may manifest itself as a postpartum psychiatric disorder (O hara, Hoffman, Philips, Wright, 1992). Many physical and emotional changes can occur to a woman during the time of her pregnancy as well as following the birth of her child. These particular changes can leave a new mother feeling sad, anxious, afraid and confused. For many women, these feelings; which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Untreated postpartum affective illness places both the mother and infant at risk and is associated with significant long term effects on child development and behavior; therefore, prompt recognition and treatment of postpartum depression are essential for both the maternal and infant s well being. Postpartum Psychosis Conclusively, at the other end of the spectrum is the truly devastating postpartum psychosis. This is known as a relatively rare disease that occurs in approximately 1 2 per 1,000 women after childbirth (Campbell et al, 1991). The condition resembles a rapidly evolving manic episode with symptoms such as restlessness and insomnia, irritability, rapidly shifting depressed or elated mood, and disorganized behavior. The mother may have delusional beliefs that relate to the infant, or she may have hallucinations that instruct her to harm herself or her child. Nonetheless, risks for infanticide and suicide are high among women with this disorder. As these patients often suffer from delusions and suicidal tendencies, the consequences of this disease to both mother and child are significant. Furthermore, depressed mothers have an increased risk of relapsing and/or continued psychiatric illness. Depressed mothers often show a more negative attitude toward their children, and an injured new mother puts significant emotional and perhaps economic burdens on family relationships. The ... • 3. Evaluation Of The Performance Appraisal Performance appraisals are used in business today as a means of providing critical feedback to employees on their performance in the workplace. In a global environment, particular care needs to be exercised to ensure the message delivered and received by employees is sensitive to the cultural differences between the parties. This document will be discussing a situation where unintended consequences arose during a performance appraisal. The document will provide for a synopsis of the case study, background information, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of the performance appraisal. A review of if the situation could have been avoided and should the supervisor have anticipated the employee reaction will also be discussed. Finally, a review of culture sensitivity in performance evaluations will be analyzed and to determine if the interaction style between the parties was the reason for the ultimate outcome. Synopsis of the Case Study John Baker had a prominent position in a company called Caribbean Bauxite Company of Barracania in the West Indies and had recently received an assignment to transfer to another location. John Baker had been grooming his successor for several years, a gentleman by the name of Matthew Rennalls. I don t consider myself to be out of the ordinary except for my love of Prince, but if you don t like Prince or his music, can you even call yourself a human? I digress, I thought that going into this assignment I would find out more interesting things about myself, however, I learned quickly that that wasn t really the case. See, what was interesting to me was very boring and weird to others, especially my friends that aren t in theater. When I would go up to them and explain the new things that I am doing, they would kind of just look at me and secretly judge, but it also let me know that I was enjoying learning more about myself. All my life I knew that I was flexible jointed and that I could do a lot of things such as putting my leg over my head and interlocking my arms and moving them all around my body without breaking that lock, but I also discovered that I could do other things without even noticing them. For instance, I tend to bounce my knee whenever I am really into a story that I am telling, but also whenever I am really passionate about something. Another thing that I noticed is that when I sit, I sway from side to side or front to back, but I just have to be in motion. It s just something that allows me to burn off the extra energy that is within me. • 6. Birth Control Is A Powerful Tool Birth control is a powerful tool. It gives women the power to choose when they are ready to have a baby, with whom they wish to have it with, and how many children to limit the family to. In the past, women had no control over childbearing due to many restrictions. With Margaret Sanger s efforts, birth control awareness became accepted by the people and the legal system, changing the lives of countless women in their fight towards equal opportunity. She changed the way that childbearing was viewed in America and paved a road that led to gender equality. In the early 1900s, women began advocating for greater access to contraception and birth control information, both to increase women s independence and to decrease unwanted pregnancies and illegal abortions ( State Abortion Laws ). Sanger joined the movement, becoming a member of many female rights organizations. As a member of the Socialist Party and a woman s labor organizer, Sanger met [influential] leader such as Eugene V. Maine Explosion x On a peaceful night at the Coco Havana the Maine one of the first warships owned by the U.S. Costing over 2 million dollars and weighing approximately 6,000 tons blew up in an explosion. After taking about 9 years to build the ship, it was all ready to sail the seas. The Maine then sailed the Atlantic Ocean for 3 years, after which it settled in Havana, Cuba in January of 1898. On the night of February 15,1898 the ship was blown up in an explosion. This is an article on whether it was an internal or external explosion that sank the Maine. After doing some research, I found my position on the issue. I believe the sinking of the Maine was an internal explosion. After years of investigation in the 1900s, they did not come up with a specific reason for the explosion. However, some Americans blamed Spain. As you may know the effect of this explosion was the Spanish American war. Which gave Cuba independence and America gained leadership of Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. ... • 8. Outsourcing Service From A Supplier Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product or service a company has never provided before. In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support... regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to outsource complex portions of their work. Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting. The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk. In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. Not a single person is to say what makes something art because there is a different definition for everyone. I will be discussing each art piece s form, time period of creation, intention or purpose, and value. This piece by Rothko consists of large expanses of colour delineated by uneven, hazy shades (mark rothko.org). From the documentary we watched on Rothko the other day in class, I learned that he wanted his paintings to evoke the basic human emotions. Although this piece is simple it is meant to resonate with the audience so that they can personally connect with it I some way. I think this is a very different approach to art. Most artists try to paint a scene, or have a story behind their art but Rothko approaches his art with emotion in hopes that it evokes emotion with others. • 11. General Bernard Montgomery s Larg Operation Market Garden The year is 1944, and the Allies are drawing closer to victory everyday. A daring plan arises soon after the successful invasion of Normandy; this plan, alternatively, ends in disaster. Had everything gone as the good General Bernard Montgomery had hoped, the war would have been finished by Christmas; a large blow against the Germans was needed to relieve the troops in Normandy, who were then facing both German soldiers and difficult, unfamiliar terrain. General Montgomery had devised a plan that would push the Allies through Holland and past the strongest of Germany s defences. The idea was simple: the Allied Airborne Division would drop paratroopers in, who would then take eight important bridges around Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem. These troops would then fight through Nazi controlled Holland and into the heart of Germany, winning the war. The historic battle of Arnhem was codenamed Operation Market Garden. When it was conceived, the idea was that a quick strike through Holland and into Germany would be able to end the war and bring relief to the troops battling through terrain and soldiers in Normandy. This means that the structure to be adopted is a divided one in which each location shall be prioritizing projects as well as competing for funding on basis of individual location needs (Devaney, 2016). Each district location essentially has its own wish list instead of embarking on the creation of a prioritized and comprehensive assessment of needs as well as funding on basis of the needs of the county. Through the decentralized facilities management model, facilities services are to be offered in a clustered manner by making sure that they all provide various operations, sometimes with or without consistency in the level of services offered, or standard operating procedures from one district and/or location to another. The decentralized structure is anticipated to work well after it has been implemented, and if appropriately carried out it can result to an effectively functioning model. • 14. Women Were Not For The Public World In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it was widely believed that women were not suited for the public world (p.493). It is no secret that women were treated less than a man, and that belief proves it. Women took a stand for themselves by creating groups for women with similar beliefs to come together and show the world that they are equal to men. The groups they established aided the community in several different ways. Some supported local public places and others passed laws that improved women s and children s quality of life. Through the hard work of these groups, many different career paths opened up to women that were originally labeled a man s job. If it wasn t for the women who asserted their authority back then, I may not have been granted the rights I have today to even be in this class. Originally women s employment options were limited, as jobs were often sorted by gender. Job openings in industrial work were often filled with men. The few women that broke the mold and worked in an industrial setting were more likely to be laid off or to experience wage reductions (page 573). This seemed to be a common trend amongst other male driven careers. Although women with an education could work their way into male driven professions like physicians, lawyers, engineers, scientists, and corporate managers (page 493), most women found security being employed in careers such as teaching, nursing and social work. There are many ways to express your love to your family or friends but there is one true love, God. I will be discussing the biblical meaning of love and what God wants us to apply to ourselves to have healthy relationships by representing his love to others. There are four types of love which are Forge, Eros, Philia and Agape. (Wellman, 2014) Forge is family love as in love for your parents, siblings, and children. (Wellman, 2014). According to Merriam Webster the meaning is Parental affection; the instinctive affection which animals have for their young. Parents manifest this love by providing their family members with shelter, protection, and financial needs. Older brothers demonstrate this love by providing support and protection to their younger siblings especially if they are being bullied or mistreated. In Proverbs 31:15 17 you see the love of a mother towards her whole household, it states She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day s work for her servant girls. She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. (NLT). In the movie, Adrian is a witty and impulsive comic that likes to do his own thing which does not go over well with the General Major who is in charge. However, Adrian s comedy and wit help to make his radio shows entertaining for the troops and he becomes respected among many of the men in the army. Although Adrian is censored, he still tried to inform the troops and went against the normal protocol. Good Morning Vietnam gives a unique look into the war and shows the frustration of both sides. The only villains that seem to arise are the ones who hold Adrian back or the ones who are confused and angry at the misfortunate that had fallen upon their home in Vietnam. Overall, this movie showed the good and bad sides of the war while also giving an inside look into the experience of one man. The movie helped to showcase the main themes of conflict in war, censorship of the news and events, and confusion among civilians and soldiers. • 21. Explain What Makes A Good Role Model What makes a good role model and how can I ensure that I act as a role model for employees I supervise? To be a good role model it boils down to three basic things Practice what you preach, be kind to people and know your job. People are going to imitate those that they admire, so if you are the manager and you are lax in the guidelines, policy and procedure that you choose to follow, chances are the employees that you are supervising will follow your lead and they will also be lax in their treatment of the workplace policy and procedure. This leads to a very untidy workplace both in person and attitude. What if I was to say that our pre conceived views on addiction were based on ignorance. It s pretty simple really, it s about CONNECTION NOT addiction. Good morning Mrs. Arnold, Ms. Shields and class, today I will be talking to you about addiction and arguing how the treatment of this disease is actually quite simple. 1) we disconnected them from their substance abuse 2) we reconnected them with important people in their lives who they love a value, regardless of how damaged that relationship has become 3) 100% on time and energy should be spent on strong relationships and moving them to next stage in their lives. Have you ever watched someone you love fall into a spiral of darkness, crowded with pain, self anguish and pure contradiction of both love and hatred for their weakness?. A weakness which has both defined and collapsed every relationship, every situation that they have. Despite this fixation, this person is thoroughly aware that it is in fact an enslavement, they know the consequences, they are acquainted with direct results. • 23. Primary Causes Of Constipation Review of Literature Constipation is a common, yet complex symptom that may be idiopathic or manifest secondary to an underlying disorder. While it is generally not life threatening on its own, constipation has a significant adverse impact on the comfort and quality of life clinically affecting about 10 19% of the American population at any one time (Smeltzer, Bare, Hinkle Cheever, 2013, p.1286). A symptom rather than a disease, causation is defined as either primary or secondary. Primary causes relate to the dysfunction of colonic motility, defecation, or both. Secondary causes of constipation are related to medications, lifestyle, neuropathological problems, endocrine disturbances, metabolic or may be related to neuropathological issues (Andrews Storr, 2011, p.16B; Marples, 2011, p.41). There are two criteria that are used in the canon of literature related to chronic constipation. On The Waterfront Analysis In the 1954 film, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, Terry Malloy, played by Marlon Brando, an inarticulate former prizefighter in his late twenties, serves as a petty errand boy for the union head, Johnny Friendly. The Hoboken, New Jersey port across the river from Manhattan, is the setting of the film where gangs run the docks and work in the area. The film shows realism in many different cinematic and thematic ways throughout the film. In the sense of cinematically, this film was filmed on the actual docks of New Jersey in the winter time. Kazan is able to brilliantly create the realistic port feel by filming on scene and using the natural surroundings as his canvas . The cargo ships in the background coming in and out, the slummy docks where men find work, and the local bars from the area. These natural settings and props made the film real and alive as it was what was actually going on in the ports. The background sounds on the dock ships whistles and chains clanging through metal loops add to the realistic aural environment. Kazan also uses the natural cold and winter to film in which give the film a realistic mise en scène. Breaths are visible and steam up in the bone cold air. A small detail like this suggests the brutal treatment these dock workers face daily, not only from the corrupt union officials but from the elements themselves. Troops had been placed in polling places all throughout the South with the intention of stopping any and all ex Confederate officers from attempting to vote, it seemed reasonable enough at the time considering it was against the law for former Confederate officers to vote. Congress, having been made up of mostly Democrats, was becoming rather frustrated once they realized just who was going to win the Presidential election. What resulted from the supposed intimidation tactics used by the Army at the polling places was the election of Rutherford B. Hayes into Presidential office. Congress s nightmare certainly came true. As per what usually occurs when you mix a Democratic Congress with a Republican President (or vice versa), butting heads occurred more often than not. Congress s response to the seemingly highly influenced election of 1876 was the enactment of the Posse Comitatus Act, in order to outlaw the practice of posse comitatus. Underlying Philosophy Montessori education curriculum is based on the philosophy of continuous development, love, caring and uniqueness. In the Montessori classroom, every child is provided with unique opportunities to develop both moral and cognitive skills in areas that motivate students (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if a child loves construction, the teacher may provide construction materials such as small boxes, tapes and superglue that is necessary for assembling the boxes together. This makes learning both interactive and enjoyable. The role of significant adults such as teachers is to provide guidance on what the child should do to realize his/her goals (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if the child is defeated on how to assemble the boxes, the teacher should guide the child until the child has fully mastered the task. 2. Historical Perspectives The history of Montessori s curriculum dates back to 1906 when Maria Montessori founded the first Children s House by the name Casa dei Bambini in Rome, Italy (Isaacs, 2015). It was in this children s house that Maria developed a keen interest on how children develop their cognitive abilities and moral behavior. She realized that every child possesses unique skills and talents that should not be generalized in a single classroom (Ansari Winsler, 2014). In other words, Montessori ... All four processes collaboration, consultation, teamwork, and co teaching, as they occur in the school context, involve interaction among school personnel, families, and students working together to achieve common goals. (Dettmer, Dyck, Thurston, 2005, p. 7) Keeping that in mind, my goal is to empower students by using all four processes. As professionals, we must support students in attaining not only academic skills but also in developing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes they need to become caring and successful citizens. The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom Robinson, a black man is wrongly accused of rape and assault on Mayella, a white woman. When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the top level of the courtroom to show that they were not important and that their opinion doesn t matter. Discrimination is also shown in the film, A Time To Kill, when, again, in the courtroom blacks were to sit on the top level. Not only is discrimination shown in the courtroom, but also in the town. For example, the two races were living on different sides of the town, blacks were not allowed to associate with whites let alone touch them or nearly look at them. Lee and Schumacher provide evidence that shows discrimination as being a major theme used throughout both texts. Acceptance was an important theme shown in both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It would look after the constraints such as the raw material supply, the processing of the biomass in to electricity, the consistency in energy generation, the supply side of the electricity, and various other factors that might directly or indirectly affect the generation of electricity. Once the feasibility study is done selection of site for establishing the plant takes the driver¡¦s seat. The plant must be located where the raw material access and energy supply is not a problem. A closed loop must be made in collaboration with the local farmers and mills (sugarcane, wood, rice processing plants) for the uninterrupted supply of biomass. The capacity of the plant must be decided keeping in mind the investments in to account. Also storage capacity must be decided for the biomass as a major portion of it is cyclical in nature. Next in line is the study of the market for electricity in the region and planning for the distribution of the same. The marketing strategy needs to be finalized to take care of the supply side. • 46. Alternative Dispute Resolution Essay Within the first part of my essay alternative dispute resolution (ADR) will be examined. I will have a critical look at the key types as well as their usefulness in fulfilling the objective of access to justice. ADR represents a variety of processes all aiming to resolve disputes between potential litigants out of court. The parties agree on the type of process used and the independent third party. The main reason for adopting ADR, however, is dissatisfaction with litigation. Especially after the introduction of new issue fees that came into force on January 4th , many people are deterred from bringing their disputes to court by the financial barriers. A further advantage is the high settlement rate and that the parties normally keep to mediated agreements, as they have constructively worked on it rather than have a decision imposed on them. (Data source: http://adrr.com/adr3/other.htm). The mediator s decision is non binding (except when it is signed) and in the case of a failed mediation, court, tribunals or other ADR options can be the following steps. However, this can be a disadvantage because a failing mediation and the following measures can be very time consuming. Conciliation has some overlaps with mediation but the conciliator takes a more active role in leading the parties to a consensus of opinion. The disputants do not usually meet; the conciliator conducts discussions separately with each party before he gives guidance on settling the dispute. His opinion then forms the basis of an agreement. The parties are free to agree on this. Concerning employment disputes, sometimes the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) suggests that disputes should be settled by means of conciliation. If the process is successful, mediation and conciliation are good examples for overcoming the problems of litigation and facilitating the ease of access to justice. Nevertheless, the non binding agreement is the first essential problem of both mediation and conciliation because a solution is no use when one party does not accept it. The second problem is that, in the absence of a third ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Dante Symphony Essay Around the year 1855 Franz Liszt began working on the composition for one of his most praised works, The Dante Symphony. The Dante Symphony is based of Dante s Divina Commedia, which was introduced to Liszt by his mistress Marie D Agoult. The Symphony is composed of two movements depicting Dante s Inferno and Purgatorio. At first Liszt wanted to depict the three movements of Dante s Divina Commedia but an effective representation of Paradise in music, Wagner insisted was impossible, and he counseled Liszt to abandon plans for an elaborate choral finale (Grey, pg.56). However, towards the end of the sonata Liszt gives a glimpse of Paradise from afar, setting it further from our reach, showing that Paradise is beyond comprehensible and how ... Each theme reflecting the lines that are inscribed over the Gates of Hell, the last theme being Lasciate ogni speranza mi ch entrate! which translates to All hope abandon, ye who enter here (Alighieri 9). After the three themes have been depicted there is a descent motif which word paints or reflects Dante and Virgil as they descend into hell. One can find word painting in the descent into hell, laughter painted into parts of the symphony, and the first people Dante sees in hell who where neither good nor evil who seem to tread back and forth a path, which Liszt paints in his symphony with melodies that go in one direction and then reverse themselves.
