Poverty Cause And Effect Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of poverty and its causes and effects can be quite challenging. This
subject requires a deep understanding of socioeconomic issues, historical context, and a critical
analysis of various factors contributing to poverty. Researching reliable sources, gathering
relevant data, and synthesizing complex information into a coherent argument can be time-
consuming and mentally taxing. Additionally, addressing such a multifaceted issue requires
sensitivity and empathy towards those affected by poverty.
Crafting a compelling essay on poverty necessitates a nuanced approach to explore its root
causes, such as economic inequality, lack of access to education and healthcare, systemic
discrimination, and political instability. Moreover, delving into the effects of poverty on
individuals, families, and communities demands a thorough examination of its social,
psychological, and economic ramifications.
Balancing statistical evidence with real-life examples and personal narratives is essential to
convey the human impact of poverty effectively. Furthermore, discussing potential solutions and
policy interventions to alleviate poverty adds another layer of complexity to the essay, requiring
careful consideration of feasibility and effectiveness.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of poverty cause and effect entails grappling with
complex social issues, analyzing multiple perspectives, and advocating for meaningful change. It
is a task that demands diligence, empathy, and a commitment to addressing one of the most
pressing challenges of our time.

The Three Levels Of Biodiversity
Biodiversity
What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity describes the variety of different types of life found on Earth. It is
extent of the variety of organisms present in different ecosystems. This can denote to
genetic variation, ecosystem, variation, or species disparity (number of species)
inside an area, biome, or planet.
Biodiversity is pondered at three levels:
1.Genetic
2.Species
3.Ecosystem
Genetic Diversity
Variation amongst the same species between diverse groups and between versions of
the same gene in different individuals in a population is genetic diversity.

Biodiversity banking places a fiscal value on biodiversity, where the value of
biodiversity can be dignified easily. United Sates, Canada and Australia have already
applied this scheme.
Gene banks are assortments of specimens and genetic material. For animals freezing
storage of sperms and eggs is carried out and for plants storage of seeds or cuttings
from a plant are deposited in zoological freezers
Decline of and better affecting of pesticides allows more species to persist in
agricultural and urbanized areas.
Location specific tactics may be less useful for shielding migratory species. One
methodology is to generate wildlife corridors that resemble to the animals

corridors generally link wildlife populations which are generally unglued due to
human activities. This causes greater interaction between species and boosts breeding

Question 9.1 Does it make business sense for a CEO to prioritize self improvement

It makes great business sense for the CEO to prioritize self improvement for
employees. This is a smart move to coach employees in performing citizenship
behavior on the job. Organizational citizenship behavior benefits the entire company
by employees supporting and defending the company actions, working to improve
operations and being loyal to the company (Colquitt, Lepine, Wesson, 2013, p. 39).

Question 9.2 Do you find it appropriate for companies to ask about the book that
applicants have read, or to encourage employees to attend self improvement seminars
that could be psychologically and emotionally intense? Why or why not?
It is very appropriate to ask a prospective employees about what books they have
read and to encourage employees to attend self improvement seminars. Behavior
issues are just as real as physical issues to help the well being of a person. If it is
alright to ask an employee to take a physical exam to determine fitness, then it should
be acceptable to ask simple questions about behavior fitness. The structured
conversation approach to interviewing, commonly referred to as Behavioral Based
Interviewing, aims to discover and examine examples of past behavior through
guided questioning (Brumm, Mickelson, White, 2006. p. 28). In this case, the hiring
company is allowed to ask questions about the latest books read to assess their

concepts.

Seminole War Research Paper
Before the three Seminole wars that resulted in migration, they were a tribe native to
Florida. They had once been four distinct groups known as the Creek, Miccosukee,
Hitchiti, and the Oconee and to protect each other they assimilated to each other s
cultures and became known as the Seminole Indians (SeminoleIndian Fact Sheet,
Bigorrin.org). They lived off hunted animals and other aquatic life found in Florida s
abundant waterways and built their homes out of poles and thatched roofs called
chickees to keep cool in the hot climate (Seminole Indians, Indians.org). Like many
other cultures, the gender roles were quite like those of the other tribes men did the

The Cherokee was a very large tribe that lived in Georgia and unlike other tribes,
they constructed large log cabins to live in. During the American Revolution, they
sided with the British and even fought battles alongside them (Cherokee Indians,
Indians.org). During the 1800s they began to assimilate to the European culture
and took on many European customs and this continued until the 1820s when gold
was discovered on Cherokee lands and they were then asked by President Andrew
Jackson to vacate the area. This came to a surprise to the Cherokee because years
before during the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814, 500 Cherokee Indians assisted
Jackson and possibly saved his life (A Brief History of the Trail of Tears,
Cherokee.Org). Jackson did nothing for them in return almost as if punishing them
for their kindness and instead of repaying the favor Jackson signed the Indian
Removal Act of 1830 (A Brief History of the Trail of Tears, Cherokee.Org). This act
called for Native Americans to move from their homeland to a new place far away
from where their homes used to be. Often times these lands were hardly suitable for
agriculture or the natives were moved to other Native American territories and began

From fishing trip to the birth of a baby to an unexplained suicide, Nick has had a
very interesting day. Indian Camp is centered around the main character Nick who is
a young boy and his father is a doctor. From the short story Indian Camp , by Ernest
Hemingway, Nick experiences his first time seeing several things happening as
graphic as child birth with C section and suicide, things he had never seen before
and had no idea that he was about to experience that in his life. From the reading,
the young Indian seems reluctant to look at the episode head on however he was a
good help to his dad. I also observed that Nick is not a tough person, that he is
sensitive, passionate and caring. Oh, daddy can t you give her something to make her
stop screaming? I think that Nick might have been too young to be experiencing such
a grownup episode as childbirth and under the circumstance as a C section and
mortality. I also think that his father may have pushed this experience on him a
little too soon. As it turns out Nick still too young to really process the idea of
mortality and Nick s father had to explain to him a whole lot more than he
expected to do. He was looking away so as not to see what his father was doing. Nick
did not watch. His curiosity had been gone for a long time.

Conflict Indicators-Based Analysis
There is a consensus on the lack of understanding of conflicts among experts and
stakeholders. The aim of the toolkits used by the development agencies is to go so
far as to accomplish their mission. The CAF, first and foremost, serves to establish
linkage between vulnerabilities and poverty, and priority areas to focus through
investigating the specific set of variables. The foundation for most of the currently
applied frameworks is more or less the same: economic, political and socio
demographic aspects, natural resources, regime, and history of conflicts. Aid actors
extend this basic list according to their mandate and values which for the CAF
constitutes a macro level socio economic context. The Conflict Assessment

Dilemmas are plenty: measuring and interpreting antecedents, incorporating into
policies that are sensitively designed and implemented, closely following progress
and interplay of interventions and tension all the while. One of the challenges and at
the same time, objectives of the conflict related agency is participation: who should
be a part of it? Any one sided decision feeds into tension, creates a new set of winners
and losers (the World Development Report, 2011). There are evidences suggesting the
World Bank s teams being cognizant of this sensitivity. For instance, the case study
showcases the project in Bishkek and Osh (Kyrgyzstan), which addressed the
community level participation, as: Community specific social and conflict
assessments were conducted and used to guide engagement and a communications
strategy was developed and implemented to enhance communication between the
implementing agency, local authorities and project affected communities throughout
implementation.... The process nonetheless was an improvement for some
communities who had never before been involved in local decision making or seen
local authorities engage responsively (Stephen, 2014:21). The issue of inclusion also
brings another significant aspect of the conflict analysis that is opportunities. The
focus should be not only on threats or vulnerability but also on potential and
Planet Nine Research Paper
Planet Nine is a hypothetical large planet in the far outer Solar System, the
gravitational effects of which would explain the improbable orbital configuration of a
group of trans Neptunian objects (TNOs) that orbit mostly beyond the Kuiper belt.
Planet Nine does not have an official name, and it will not receive one unless its
existence is confirmed, typically through optical imaging. Once confirmed, the IAU
will certify a name, with priority typically given to a name proposed by its
discoverers. It will likely be a name chosen from Roman or Greek mythology.

This discrepancy has long been a mystery in astronomy.
Bailey and her colleagues ran computer simulations that suggest that the tilt of the
eight official planets can be explained by the gravitational influence of Planet Nine
over the 4.5 billion years ish lifetime of the solar system, Bailey mentioned.
Bailey did note that there are other potential explanations for the tilt of the solar
system. One alternative is that electrically charged particles influenced by the young
sun s magnetic field could have interacted with the disk of gas and dust that gave rise
to the planets in ways that tilted the solar system. Another possibility is that there
might have been an imbalance in the mass of the nascent sun s core.
However, all these other ways to explain why the solar system is tilted are really
hard to test they all invoke processes that were possibly present really early in the
solar system, Bailey said. Planet Nine is the first thing that has been proposed to
tilt the solar system that doesn t depend on early conditions, so if we find Planet
Nine, we will be able to see if it s the only thing responsible for the tilt, or if anything
else may have played a
Internet Of Things Essay
The Internet of Things, or the IoT is envisioned as a ubiquitous society wherein
people and devices (referred to as Things ) are connected in a riveting networked
computing environment viz. Internet , with the connected Things providing utility to
people/enterprises through various intelligent commercial and social services. Large
chunks of data is generated for devices to communicate with each other to facilitate
the InternetOf Things. Data transfer over the Internet is usually a powerhungry
process. With ever growing necessity of utilizing energy in a more efficient way it
is not only important to communicate data at a faster rate but also do so in a very
low energy consuming method. This report employs one such method which
utilizes the fact that most of the data communicated by the IoT devices processes
and services is irregular and generally concentrated over a short duration of time.
This method focuses on adapting the duty cycle of these processes/devices so that
they are asleep during large periods of inactivity. The report also investigates the
Low power consumption system thus obtained as a standalone system running on the
energy provided by a Energy Harvestor(PV CELL) .Cost considerations limit the
size of the energy harvestor used which affects the power provided by it ,thus the
system is so designed such that the energy harvestor is able to run the system during
sleep while energy storing elements power the system during its active cycle. This

The Federalists And Democratic Republicans
From 1789 to 1816, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans approached many
problems differently, sometimes however, they had the same solutions to problems
which were posed by England and the Native Americans. The Federalists and
Democratic Republicans both had different and sometimes similar viewpoints on
how to solve the problems they faced during this particular time period. Federalists
supported a strong, huge government that had a loose constriction of the
constitution. They also supported the National Bank, exercise tax. Also, they
thought tariffs should be high, and they believed in an industrial world filled with
huge businesses and mass production of goods. However, the Democratic
Republicans wanted a more agrarian culture. They did not want a huge government,
National bank, excise taxes, and they wanted the tariffs to be low. Some difficulties
that the two parties faced were that the British created were impressments of sailors,
assisting the Native Americans in war against the United States, and the Orders in
Council of 1805. The Native Americans also generated problems for America
because they resisted land expansion. Because of their standards and beliefs, this
shows how the two parties faced these particular problems that were caused by
Britain and the Native Americans. Therefore, the Federalists and Democratic
Republicans solved problems differently, but sometimes they had the same idea to
work together in order to effectively fix both of the parties

Fifty years ago almost all clothes sold in the U.S. were made here. Now almost
98% of the clothes sold here are made in other countries. For big retailers like
Walmart, and Forever 21 they are able to sell clothes at low prices due to clothes

mean U.S. stores can sell clothes for less and still make a profit. For U.S. shoppers,

Labelling Theory And Its Impact On Society
Rather than taking a glance at why some social groups carry out more crime, the
labelling theory inquires as to why a few individuals carrying out some activities
come to be characterized as deviant, while others may not. Labelling theory is
likewise intrigued by the impacts of labelling on people. Many theorists note that
the vast majority carry out crime sooner or later in their lives however not
everybody gets to be characterized as a deviant or a criminal. So how can this
procedure of characterizing a person as deviant work? This essay will highlight the
main features of the labelling theory and evaluate its contribution to the research
of crime and deviance. The labelling theory gets to be overwhelming in the 1960s
and 1970s when it was utilized as a sociological idea of crime compelling in testing
orthodox positivist criminology. The key individuals to this theory were Becker
and Lemert. The establishments of this viewpoint of deviance are said to have
been initially settled by Lemert, (1951) and were in this manner created by Becker,
(1963).As an obvious reality the labelling theory has along these lines turned into a
predominant worldview in the explaining of deviance. The symbolic cooperation
point of view was to a great degree dynamic in the early establishments of the
labelling theory. It is constituted by the belief that deviant conduct is to be seen not
just as the violation of a norm but rather as any conduct which is effectively

Analysis Of The Estrangement By Jamaica Kincaid, My

One s judgement of others is a commonality amongst all people; however, to admit
one is wrong about one s perceptions is infrequent. In both essays, The Estrangement
by Jamaica Kincaid, and My Speech at West Point by Marjane Satrapi in the book
The Writer s Presence, the writers make comment on their life experiences
particularly about their bad judgment of others and the impact that has had on them.
Kincaid s essay is about the rough relationship she had with her mother and how her
criticism of her changed after her experience as a mother. Similarly, Satrapi writes
about the pointin her life she began learning one she realizes that the view she had of

Nevertheless, she accepts her mistake and learns from her experience by
acknowledging it, I don t know anything (Kincaid 249). Ultimately, Satrapi conveys
that there not only needs to be progress in her country, but in her thinking as well.
This brings to light how the only way to diminish social issues, our opinions need to
be altered.
Likewise, Kincaid wrongly judges her mother. In her essay, The Estrangement she
tells that she stopped talking to her mother after she spoke unkindly about her in a
conversation they had through the phone. She describes her mother as a person that
was seen as nice by others, but not by her nor her younger siblings. She asserts that
her mother, said horrible things to us more often than not and that the nice person
everyone saw in her was not at all known to us (Kincaid 170). In other words, her
mother was unaffectionate to them. A statement she makes evident when she tells
about the time his step father was buried next to her mother and her uncertainty of
whether he would have liked that based on her and her siblings preferences. She
claims, we would rather be dead than spend eternity lying next to her (Kincaid 170).
In other terms, they despised her mother for the treatment she gave them. However,
later in the text, there is a shift in tone: from hate to acknowledgement and love. Her
perception of her mother changes after she realizes how
How Does Shakespeare Present Identity In Hamlet
In Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, he writes about the challenges royalty could
face and emphasizes the challenges of family relationships, suicidal thoughts and
doubt, and explores the idea of revenge and identity. The main themes present are
expectation versus reality and the complexity of actions. Shakespeare wrote this
play during the Renaissance, with the rise of humanism, emphasizing that the ideal
world is filled with many of difficulties, therefore it is impossible to know the
whole truth. The context of this play is set in Elsinore, Denmark in the 14th century,
where a prince discovers his father was murdered and seeks revenge on his uncle,
who marries the queen, and is a suspect of killing the former king. If Shakespeare had

In Hamlet s famous soliloquy, To be, or not to be? (3.1, 57 91), he emphasizes the
challenges in facing the unknown truth of reality and questions whether his
decisions are ethical. Hamlet goes on and says, Whether tis nobler in the mind to
suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of
troubles, and , by opposing, end them? (3.1, 58 61). Today, there are many people
who experience depression and anxiety that always wonder whether living is worth
the chance. Revenge is constantly present because negative thoughts and outcomes
can heavily damage a person mentally and physically. Especially for Hamlet, he is
convinced that the ghost of his father told him the truth, and is determined to kill
Claudius for his father. In modern society, cyber bullying is common due to the easy
access to the internet for people to attack each other and spread of negative messages.
Suicide and revenge contribute to the theme of complexity of action, that emotions
can control one s actions and lead to irrational decisions, which is part of the human
The Brain and Cranial Nerves Essay
The Brain and Cranial Nerves
One of the most complex and fascinating things in the human body is the brain. The
body is capable of almost everything, but it would not be possible, without the brain
receiving information, and analyzing the information. The brain is aware of its
surroundings, via input from the spinal cord and cranial nerves. Cranial nerves with
sensory functions allow us to smell and see. Nerves with both motor and sensory
functions are responsible for everything from tasting and chewing, to breathing and
the heating of your heart. Many of the little things we take for granted are also made
possible by cranial nerves. Solving problems, feeling hungry, laughing. Each of these
activities occurs in a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Medulla contains white matter that is sensory and motor tracts. These tracts
extend between the spinal cord and other parts of the brain. The Pons lies directly
superior to the Medulla. Like the Medulla, the Pons is a bridge that connects parts of
the brain with one another. The midbrain extends fro the Pons to the Diencephalon.
The Midbrain contains both tracts and nuclei. The interior art of the midbrain
contains a pair of tracts called Cerebral Pedunctis. They contain axons of corticospinal
corticopontine and corticobolbar motor neurons. These conduct nerve impulses from
the cerebrum to the spinal cord, medulla, and pons. The posterior part of the midbrain
is called the tectum. The Tectum contains four rounded elecations, two superior, and
two inferior. The two superior elevations are known as the superior culliculi. They
serve as reflex centers for certain visual activities. The two inferior elevations, the
inferior colliculi, are aprt of the auditory pathway, relaxing impulses from the
receptors for hearing in the ear to the thalamus. The Cerebellum is the second largest
part of the brain. The cerebellum occupies the inferior and posterior aspects of the
cranial cavity. The Diencephalon extends from the brain stem to the cerebrum. It
includes the thalamus, hypothalmas, epithalamus, and subthalmus. The twelve
cranial nerves are responsible for a variety of things. Some of these nerves bring

These officers were trained to be a well mannered, in control of oneself, and
respectful officer. After gaining respect of the citizens Sir Robert Peels next major
task was preventing crime and establishing authority.
Preventing crime was the primary purpose for Sir Robert Peel and his associates. In
order to prevent crime the London Metropolitan Police Act needed to be approved
by parliament. In 1829 the act was passed and Sir Robert Peel took advantage of
this. This created a full time uniformed police agency that would patrol the city with
the effort of preventing crime from happening. With the public now respecting
officers and officers patrolling the streets that every citizen walked on the police
officers eventually gained a form of authority in the public. This authority came with
the training for the job and the citizens recognizing that the officer is there to help
and prevent crime. United States development of a formal policing agency came from
Sir Robert Peel and what the London Metropolitan Police have become. The law
enforcement in the United States developed in the early years of colonization. The
colonies took what the English was doing and developed their own system
Why I Was Younger I Received Money Through Gifts, And...
When I was younger I received money through gifts, and allowance. My mother set
up an allowance system where my brother and I could earn money by doing a
variety of chores. This allowed us to learn how to care for ourselves and the
household, in addition to learning how to be responsible with money. Because money
wasn t given out much in her household, we learned to use it with care. My father s
household, however, was the complete opposite. Growing up, gifts and money
were handed out on a regular basis; as if Christmas came every week. This was
hard to balance though because there were two extremely different viewpoints of
money being installed in my brother and I. Being that I was older, I clung to my
mother s more frugal view a lot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view is something that is easier said than done unfortunately and there came a
point where money did become the primary focus and source of conflict. My worst
fear concerning money is that it will become the center of attention and main
stressor. I have seen money become a main focus for someone and it turned them
into a greedy and unhappy mess. My fear is that if money becomes too heavily
concentrated on, that it will rip relationships apart and cause more misery than its
worth.
Currently, I am pretty comfortable with my financial situation. I use the money I
make from my jobs to help fund college and personal expenses. My paychecks are
deposited into a savings and checking account which I use to fund my expenses
respectively. Any extra money that I receive as a gift is stored in cash, in a lock
box. This lock box is then hidden and forgot about so that money is rarely taken
out and regularly put in. This allows for me to continually grow my fund so that in
the event of an emergency, I have money put away. My tip money is also stored in
the same way but separate from the gifted money. This also only accumulates and
is never taken from. I realize that storing my money in an account where I can earn
interest is a smarter option for a number of reasons, however, having the money
close at hand just in case I were to need it allows me more peace at mind. My two
untouched funds may one day
Should Andrew Jackson Stay On The 20 Dollar Bill...
For nearly 200 years, Jackson has occupied the space on the front of the 20 dollar
bill. However, people are examining his actions when he was president and he is
becoming more and more controversial. Should Andrew Jackson stay on the twenty
dollar bill? Jackson became president in 1828 after a dirty campaign with John
Adams. He was the seventh president and he was hotheaded, had a strong will, and
changed the history of the US forever. However, Andrew Jacksonwas a villain
because he did not listen to other people s opinions, didn t think before he acted, and
many other reasons. Andrew Jackson should not stay on the twenty dollar bill
because he massacred the Native Americans, only cares about himself, and does not

According to the textbook, For years, he had attacked the Bank of the United States
as being an organization of wealthy Easterners over which ordinary citizens had no
control. (Appleby, 2000). Jackson is a self made man, or a man who built himself
up and was not born into riches. Therefore, he destroyed the bank because he felt it
was a group of rich people who don t care about the ordinary citizen. Jackson only
cares about himself and his own people , the poor. He doesn t care about whether
the bank could have benefited many rich and maybe even poor, but only focuses
on the fact that the bank was made by rich citizens and the poor people have a
disadvantage. This is significant because it shows Jackson s bitter feelings towards
the rich and the real reason why he hated the bank. It was not because of the bank s
actions or disadvantages, but because of the people who ran it. Jackson only cares
about himself and his own kind and hates anyone different from
The Current Business Issue Cleaners Co
The aim of this report is to analyse the current business issue Cleaners Co is faced
with and address the leading and planning functions of management. In this case, the
issue in question has become apparent following the new appointment of CEO.
Whilst Cleaners Co s profitability has seen a favourable increase in the last 12
months, many of the changes have not been met with the agreement of senior
management. Often changes to a business can result in disagreements, resulting in a
serious impact upon the employee s work ethic, motivation and job satisfaction ().
However, when employees are happy in the workplace, this can have positive
benefits for the business and its profit. This report will provide recommendations
and the suggested course of action for Cleaners Co to take in order to successfully
solve this issue.
Defining the Issue
The disagreement of the senior management team regarding changes made to
Cleaners Co in order to improve profitability comes as a result of underlying problems
within the planning and leading functions of the business structure.
Firstly, the style of management of Cleaners Co must be examined. Successfully
leading a business involves arousing employees enthusiasm to work effectively and
achieve the organisations overall goal (TEXTBOOK) Currently, the business
operates in a top down leadership or autocratic management style. While the
autocratic style of business is one of the most recognised forms of leadership, it is
becoming
The Tree Agreement Poem
Trees are important not only physically but also spiritually and for many this fact
is lost. Physically trees provide humans with beauty and a healthy ecosystem.
Spiritually trees provide humans a connection to nature. Their importance has
been lost in our modern times as humans further separate themselves from nature.
While forgotten by many, their actions still resonate. The two modern poems The
Tree Agreement by Elise Paschen and Living Tree by Robert Morgan trumpet the
value trees hold in comparable ways. In the poem The Tree Agreement the speaker
argues for the benefits of the Siberian Elm against a disagreeing neighbor. By
structuring the poem in this manner, the poet highlights how people are blind to
the services trees provide while simultaneously highlighting said services. The tree
is portrayed almost as a friend or ally to the speaker. The speaker describes not only
to the significance of the tree to humans like the neighbor and the speaker but also
to the other living creatures surrounding them. The poem Living Tree focuses on
the actions performed by trees in cemeteries. This poem follows a more spiritual
route when compared to Paschen s poem. This poem describes the process those
who have been buried go through and the role trees play in this process. The trees
in this poem are portrayed as lightning rods for the chemicals and spirits of the dead.
This relationship is portrayed positively, as the trees are a monument to the passing
of life. These poems

Advantages Of Satellite Health Care
The satellite community based health center was established through the cooperation
and contribution of the area community. The aim of setting up the Health Center was
to alleviate the myriads of health issues concerning the heart diseases and the
associated illnesses for the old people.
The health center has since its establishment offered excellent and quality services
to curb the formerly alarming mortality rates for the elderly. The targeted age

devastating effects of heart diseases and health conditions that come as a result of the

Like much other health facilities, Satellite health Centre receives the ailing elderly
people where proper diagnosis is done, and appropriate medication is administered
to alleviate the problem. Satellite carries out training sessions meant to equip the
staff on how to deal with dementia people. The Satellite health center also has
provision for boarding facilities and hence is a home for the ailing elderly, where
they receive homely care that improves the lifestyle of the people. A public health
service has a responsibility to sensitize on the need of adopting proper eating habits
and involvement in the physical activities. All these activities are mainstreamed in
the Satellite health facility. Satellite, like other health services, has put strategies to
come up with more advanced methods through research in order to deal effectively
with the disease (Tang et al. 2014, pp. 748) Most public health facilities conduct free

Diagnosis of a Major Depressive Disorder
In agreeing with the previous clinicians diagnosis of Vanessa exhibiting a major
depressive disorder support for this diagnosis follows on from her verbal and DASS

with numbers 1) depressed mood most of the day, 2) diminished interest or
pleasure, 4) insomnia 6) fatigue or loss of energy 7) feelings of worthlessness or
inappropriate guilt, of criterion A of the DSM5 diagnosis of major depressive disorder

Other studies conducted indicate that a high stressful life event has a high
significant association with consequent major depressive episodes at an
astounding 75% proportion; evidently stating a causal relationship (Kendler et al.
1999). Kendler et al. (1999) supported that a higher causal relationship with
stressor events was more evident in the first stage of depression over recurrent
episodes of major depression and furthermore, found that 85.4% of the sample
indicated the stressful event and the arrival of depressive symptoms occurred in the
same month. Furthermore supporting the findings previously stated by Kendall et
al (2004), not all major depressive episodes are as a result of stressor events, but
may instead be attributed to the predisposition of neurotic temperaments (Kendler et
al 1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major depressive episode is further
ensued by the theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who describes this
term as a situation that stalls the grieving process through the obstruction of coping
and stress management, as a result of physical absence and psychological presence,
usually leading to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and ultimately leading to
depression. Finally, in an attempt to demonstrate that Vanessa s reactions to a
romantic breakup Parker et al. s (2015) study demonstrates that depressive symptoms
is a primary response to her stressor.
The European Expansion and Its Impact on Indigenous

The European Expansion and Its Impact on Indigenous People 15th and 16th century
European conquest in Africa and Latin America was significant for global expansion.
Important areas such as the West African coast and Mexico were explored, making
this period of time momentous. However, what was even more noteworthy were the
similar methods that the Europeans used while intruding upon both the foreign lands.
The Europeans showed little respect towards African and Native American people
and their values; they resorted to inhumane tactics such as a creating a slave trade
through Africa and committing a massacre to decolonize the indigenous people of

Kurt Vonnegut Essay
Kurt Vonnegut Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. is a contemporary American author whose works
have been described by Richard Giannone as comic masks covering the tragic farce
that is our contemporary life (Draper, 3784). Vonnegut s life has had a number of
significant influences on his works. Influences from his personal philosophy, his life
and experiences, and his family are evident elements in his works. Among his comic
masks are three novels: Cat s Cradle, The Sirens of Titan, and God Bless You, Mr.
Rosewater. Throughout these novels, elements such as attitude, detail, narrative
technique, setting, and theme can be viewed with more understanding when related to
certain aspects of his life. These correlations are best examined in terms of each...

. . [an] indifferent universe, [and] regards human existence as unexplainable
(Bookshelf 94). Before the novel even starts, just below the dedication, he declares,
Nothing in this book is true. Live by the foma [harmless untruths] that make you
brave and kind and healthy and happy (Vonnegut, Cradle). Vonnegut carries this
concept all through the story, that the universe is meaningless and each person must
exist for oneself. He even goes to the extent of inventing a religion, Bokononism, with
which humans attempt to make some sense of everything, while realizing that
everything is nonsensical.
Vonnegut s existential philosophy also takes the form of a religion in The Sirens
of Titan. The Church of God the Utterly Indifferent is established, on the principle
that puny man can do nothing at all to help or please God Almighty, and Luck is
not the hand of God (Vonnegut, Sirens, 180). Toward the end of the story, two
existential ideas are developed: first that human life is incomprehensible (in this
case controlled by aliens from another planet for a trivial purpose), and second that
people must make a meaning for life on their own. When one character states, The
worst thing that could possibly happen. . . would be to not be used for anything by
anybody, Vonnegut is suggesting that a good meaning for life might simply be to be
The Augustinian Theodicy Of Augustine Of Hippo
The Augustinian theodicy, named for the fourth and fifth century theologian and
philosopher Augustine of Hippo, is a type of Christian theodicy designed in response
to the evidential problem of evil and suffering. It attempts to explain how an
omnipotent and omnibenevolent God could exist amid evidence of evil in the
universe.
According to Augustine, the universe was originally free from sin due to God
creating the world perfectly, as He is both omnipotent and omnibenevolent
according to Christian belief. This means He both wants to and has the ability to
create perfection. Since it is a fact of the created universe that God has called all
things into the universe ex nihilo, and did so perfectly, suffering was absent from
the world. Evil did not exist before the sin of angels and humans, as it first came into
existence when angels, followed by humans, abused their power of free will and
turned away from the person who had gifted them with it, God, their creator.
Therefore Augustine states that evil is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Augustine compares the presence of evil in the universe to the colour black in a
black and white painting. Without the black in the painting, we would not be able
to appreciate the beauty as we would not be able to see the art, due to there being
no contrast. Augustine says without the contrast of evil in the universe, we would
not be able to appreciate the good and beauty, as there would be nothing to
compare them to. Therefore the presence of evil in the universe according to
Augustine is not necessarily a bad thing, as it gives us the ability to see the
perfection originally made by God. Additionally evil could serve a cause, as facing
suffering allows us to develop traits such as courage and compassion which assist us
in getting back to God and gaining eternal life in heaven as we can prove ourselves
to Him this

Analysis Of Eric Schlosser s Fast Food Nation
In the book Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, the topic of the lucrativeness of the
American fast food industry is widely examined. It includes testimonials from real
fast food and factory workers and also provides some history into how the fast food
industry started and why it came to be. Even though these restaurants may look
innocent at first glance, there is much more in these multibillion corporations than
meets the eye. Globalization, exploitation of teenage/immigrant labor, and foodsafety
laws are only some of the issues rarely known or acknowledged by consumers
because of the tight grip these companies have on the media. One of the biggest
issues coming to play is the manipulation of young kids using toys and popular
characters to create lifelong brand bonds.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is explained further when Schlosser states, The growth in children s
advertising has been driven by efforts to increase not just current, but also future,
consumption. Hoping that nostalgic childhood memories of a brand will lead to
lifetime purchases, companies now plan cradle to grave advertising
strategies...Indeed market research has found that children recognize a brand logo
before they can recognize their own name (Schlosser 430). One example of this
was the Joe Camel ad campaign in the late 80 s and early 90 s. According to a
study published in 1991 in the Journal of the American Medical Association, nearly
all six year olds could identify Joe Camel because he was just as popular as other
characters such as Mickey Mouse. In an article published by Inverse, the

New Home
Anticipation mounted as they pulled into the driveway of their new home. This
time, it was going to be different. They were no longer renters, but bona fide
homeowners. No one would ever be able to evict them again. Relieved it was a single
level house, they didn t have to worry about screens popping out a second story
window. It did not have a porch with steps or garage, but it did have a basement and
a large backyard.
Molly, Susan, and Beth greeted the fearless foursome at the front door. Reunited as a
family, they all squealed with delight at their new home. Standing in the entryway, the
living room stood immediately to the left with the kitchen directly ahead. The kitchen
had a sliding door hidden in the wall. Walking through the living room, crossing to
the left stood a doorway that led to three bedrooms and a single bathroom for the nine
member family.
Max planned to remodel the house in stages, beginning on the third bedroom first. All
seven children shared one bedroom while demolition began on the third bedroom,
making it into a dining room adjacent to the living room. Two sets of bunk beds and
a single cot filled the entire bedroom. The cramped room had minimal space to walk
between the beds. Kate and Millie quickly discovered they could hop from bed to bed
without touching the floor.
Remodeling began that very day. Using a sledgehammer, everyone took a turn
smashing the east wall of the living room. They ripped a huge hole into the wall,
taking turns hopping back
Character Analysis Of Richard Wright s Native Son
Richard Wright composes the short story How Bigger Was Born to explain why he
wrote the novel Native Son. He expresses his experiences, thoughts and feelings in
the short story, which further leads to the creation of the novel. Wrights expressions
and ideas correspond to the events that occurred in the noveland I consider my
thoughts compatible with fulfillment. The short story, How Bigger Was Born , is the
foundation of the character Bigger Thomas and his told life. In How Bigger Was
Born , Wright tells of a memory he has of something he once read. Lenin turned to
Gorky and, pointing, said Here is their Big Ben. There is their Westminster Abbey.
There is their library (page 5 paragraph 6). The significance of this memory is to
demonstrate that the two men felt as though there were not living in a world of
their own, they felt they were just a part of someone else s universe. This supports
the novel because Bigger has similar feelings to the two men in Wright s
memory. In a discussion between Bigger and Gus, they are talking about life and
wondering what it would be like to not live on their side of the line. Bigger then
goes on to state: They got things we ain t. They do things and we can t. It s just
like living in jail. Half the time I feel like I m on the outside of the world peeping in
through a knothole in the fence... (Wright 20). I feel as though Wright used Bigger to
portray his memories, therefore supporting the short story. Bigger went on to
The Role Of The Patriots During The Revolutionary War
The role the Patriots played in the revolutionary war.
The revolutionary era refers to the uprising of the common people against authority
in the late 1700s. Great Britain ruled the American colonies for several years since
1607. The American Revolution came as a need from the American people for
independence from Great Britain. This need for independence was stirred up by the
enactment of the Stamp Act in American colonies by the British. American colonies
were congenial to liberty and independence due to religion and other factors. The
American people reacted to the stamp act with public resistance in the colonies.
Therefore, the American revolutionary war was the result of the refusal to pay taxes,
imposed on the colonists by British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stamp act was considered taxation without representation of the colonies in the
British Parliament. It was put down as a threat to the freedom of the American
people. People began violently rebelling against the British. These oppositions grew
and spread throughout the colonies.
The revolutionary movement divided the colonies into Patriots and Loyalists.
Loyalists were colonists loyal to the British, while the Patriots were in support of the
American Revolution. The Patriots began boycotting goods imported from Great
Britain, and substituting them with homemade goods and cheap inferior goods. The
merchants in the colonies were frustrated and could not sell their goods. Both Britain
and the merchants lost profits due to this change. The importation of British goods
was later banned in the American colonies. Merchants were being forced to sign
documents denying the importation of British goods. Merchants whom refused to
sign these documents were sent to the gallows to be tarred and feathered.
Additionally, Loyalists were coerced by the patriots into supporting the American
Revolution or they would be lynched in the gallows. Some loyalists who refused ran
away with their families to Great Britain for fear of being killed. Such actions of
people in the colonies frustrated the British and led to the Revolutionary war.
The American Revolution began in 1775 and continued until 1783. The war started in
the north. The British amounted support from Germany,
Minority Report Essay

some specific aspects such as few scenes from the movie, some technical aspects and
the intended audience of the film. In addition I will add my own opinion to all the
aspects throughout this paper. Finally I will round off my review by concluding why
this film is worth of watching both for personal entertainment and academic purpose.
In this film Tom Cruiseplays the role of protagonist as Chief John Anderton. The
role of antagonist is played by Max von Sydow as Director Lamar and Colin

that the only time Medea was possibly good is before Jason set sail to seek the
golden pelt for Pelias (6 7). Medea fell in love with him and because of it

This subject requires a deep understanding of socioeconomic issues, historical context, and a critical analysis of various factors contributing to poverty. Researching reliable sources, gathering relevant data, and synthesizing complex information into a coherent argument can be time- consuming and mentally taxing. Bailey did note that there are other potential explanations for the tilt of the solar system. One alternative is that electrically charged particles influenced by the young sun s magnetic field could have interacted with the disk of gas and dust that gave rise to the planets in ways that tilted the solar system. Another possibility is that there might have been an imbalance in the mass of the nascent sun s core. However, all these other ways to explain why the solar system is tilted are really hard to test they all invoke processes that were possibly present really early in the solar system, Bailey said. • 25. The Tree Agreement Poem Trees are important not only physically but also spiritually and for many this fact is lost. Physically trees provide humans with beauty and a healthy ecosystem. Spiritually trees provide humans a connection to nature. Their importance has been lost in our modern times as humans further separate themselves from nature. While forgotten by many, their actions still resonate. The two modern poems The Tree Agreement by Elise Paschen and Living Tree by Robert Morgan trumpet the value trees hold in comparable ways. In the poem The Tree Agreement the speaker argues for the benefits of the Siberian Elm against a disagreeing neighbor. By structuring the poem in this manner, the poet highlights how people are blind to the services trees provide while simultaneously highlighting said services. The tree is portrayed almost as a friend or ally to the speaker. The speaker describes not only to the significance of the tree to humans like the neighbor and the speaker but also to the other living creatures surrounding them. The poem Living Tree focuses on the actions performed by trees in cemeteries. This poem follows a more spiritual route when compared to Paschen s poem. This poem describes the process those who have been buried go through and the role trees play in this process. The trees in this poem are portrayed as lightning rods for the chemicals and spirits of the dead. This relationship is portrayed positively, as the trees are a monument to the passing of life. These poems

Other studies conducted indicate that a high stressful life event has a high significant association with consequent major depressive episodes at an astounding 75% proportion; evidently stating a causal relationship (Kendler et al. 1999). Kendler et al. (1999) supported that a higher causal relationship with stressor events was more evident in the first stage of depression over recurrent episodes of major depression and furthermore, found that 85.4% of the sample indicated the stressful event and the arrival of depressive symptoms occurred in the same month. Furthermore supporting the findings previously stated by Kendall et al (2004), not all major depressive episodes are as a result of stressor events, but may instead be attributed to the predisposition of neurotic temperaments (Kendler et al 1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major depressive episode is further ensued by the theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who describes this term as a situation that stalls the grieving process through the obstruction of coping and stress management, as a result of physical absence and psychological presence, usually leading to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and ultimately leading to depression. Finally, in an attempt to demonstrate that Vanessa s reactions to a romantic breakup Parker et al. s (2015) study demonstrates that depressive symptoms is a primary response to her stressor.

Kurt Vonnegut Essay Kurt Vonnegut Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. is a contemporary American author whose works have been described by Richard Giannone as comic masks covering the tragic farce that is our contemporary life (Draper, 3784). Vonnegut s life has had a number of significant influences on his works. Influences from his personal philosophy, his life and experiences, and his family are evident elements in his works. Among his comic masks are three novels: Cat s Cradle, The Sirens of Titan, and God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. Throughout these novels, elements such as attitude, detail, narrative technique, setting, and theme can be viewed with more understanding when related to certain aspects of his life. Before the novel even starts, just below the dedication, he declares, Nothing in this book is true. Live by the foma [harmless untruths] that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy (Vonnegut, Cradle). Vonnegut carries this concept all through the story, that the universe is meaningless and each person must exist for oneself. He even goes to the extent of inventing a religion, Bokononism, with which humans attempt to make some sense of everything, while realizing that everything is nonsensical. Vonnegut s existential philosophy also takes the form of a religion in The Sirens of Titan. The Church of God the Utterly Indifferent is established, on the principle that puny man can do nothing at all to help or please God Almighty, and Luck is not the hand of God (Vonnegut, Sirens, 180). Toward the end of the story, two existential ideas are developed: first that human life is incomprehensible (in this case controlled by aliens from another planet for a trivial purpose), and second that people must make a meaning for life on their own. When one character states, The worst thing that could possibly happen. . . would be to not be used for anything by anybody, Vonnegut is suggesting that a good meaning for life might simply be to be
  • 32. The Augustinian Theodicy Of Augustine Of Hippo The Augustinian theodicy, named for the fourth and fifth century theologian and philosopher Augustine of Hippo, is a type of Christian theodicy designed in response to the evidential problem of evil and suffering. It attempts to explain how an omnipotent and omnibenevolent God could exist amid evidence of evil in the universe. According to Augustine, the universe was originally free from sin due to God creating the world perfectly, as He is both omnipotent and omnibenevolent according to Christian belief. This means He both wants to and has the ability to create perfection. Since it is a fact of the created universe that God has called all things into the universe ex nihilo, and did so perfectly, suffering was absent from the world. Evil did not exist before the sin of angels and humans, as it first came into existence when angels, followed by humans, abused their power of free will and turned away from the person who had gifted them with it, God, their creator. Therefore Augustine states that evil is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Augustine compares the presence of evil in the universe to the colour black in a black and white painting. Augustine says without the contrast of evil in the universe, we would not be able to appreciate the good and beauty, as there would be nothing to compare them to. Therefore the presence of evil in the universe according to Augustine is not necessarily a bad thing, as it gives us the ability to see the perfection originally made by God. Additionally evil could serve a cause, as facing suffering allows us to develop traits such as courage and compassion which assist us in getting back to God and gaining eternal life in heaven as we can prove ourselves to Him this

The kitchen had a sliding door hidden in the wall. Walking through the living room, crossing to the left stood a doorway that led to three bedrooms and a single bathroom for the nine member family. Max planned to remodel the house in stages, beginning on the third bedroom first. Lenin turned to Gorky and, pointing, said Here is their Big Ben. There is their Westminster Abbey. There is their library (page 5 paragraph 6). The significance of this memory is to demonstrate that the two men felt as though there were not living in a world of their own, they felt they were just a part of someone else s universe. This supports the novel because Bigger has similar feelings to the two men in Wright s memory. In a discussion between Bigger and Gus, they are talking about life and wondering what it would be like to not live on their side of the line. The revolutionary era refers to the uprising of the common people against authority in the late 1700s. Great Britain ruled the American colonies for several years since 1607. The American Revolution came as a need from the American people for independence from Great Britain. This need for independence was stirred up by the enactment of the Stamp Act in American colonies by the British. The stamp act was considered taxation without representation of the colonies in the British Parliament. It was put down as a threat to the freedom of the American people. People began violently rebelling against the British. These oppositions grew and spread throughout the colonies. The revolutionary movement divided the colonies into Patriots and Loyalists. Loyalists were colonists loyal to the British, while the Patriots were in support of the American Revolution. The Patriots began boycotting goods imported from Great Britain, and substituting them with homemade goods and cheap inferior goods. The merchants in the colonies were frustrated and could not sell their goods. Both Britain and the merchants lost profits due to this change. The importation of British goods was later banned in the American colonies. Merchants were being forced to sign documents denying the importation of British goods. Merchants whom refused to sign these documents were sent to the gallows to be tarred and feathered. Additionally, Loyalists were coerced by the patriots into supporting the American Revolution or they would be lynched in the gallows. Some loyalists who refused ran away with their families to Great Britain for fear of being killed. Such actions of people in the colonies frustrated the British and led to the Revolutionary war. The play centers on Medea, an outsider and wife to Jason, who seeks to punish Jason for taking another wife. The play is considered a tragedy because it contains the three unities as well as the six elements of drama mentioned by Aristotle. Despite the fact that the does the play fits the criteria of what Aristotle considers tragedy, however, Medea is actually not a tragedy but tells the story about a successful revenge. In the Poetics, Aristotle has established a criteria consisting of four requirements that character must have to be considered the tragic hero. Medea, however, is not a tragic character because she does not possess two of the four requirements: goodness and correctness. Aristotle s first requirement of goodness states: The persons wit[ have character ifin the way previousty stated their speech or their action reveals the moraI quality of some choice, and good character if a good choice (Aristotle 130). Having a good character will allow provoke pity and fear in a tragedy. Medea however does not possess the good quality. She does not express it through the course of the play in her actions. In the opening of the play, the nurse makes it known that she wished that the Argo never had set sail (1) which indicates the idea that the only time Medea was possibly good is before Jason set sail to seek the golden pelt for Pelias (6 7). Medea fell in love with him and because of it
