Travel And Tourism Essay
According to Statista, a website that provide the statistic and study from more than 18,00 sources
over the world, travel and tourism industry in the United States is one of the largest industry. In
2015, travel and tourism industry has made a total contribution of 1.5 trillion USD to GPD. In
addition, they predict that the number will grow up to 2.6 trillion USD by 2027. Annually, travel
and tourismdirectly provides about 5.5 million jobs for American people.
The travel and tourism industry is very huge. Therefore, people try to break down it into a small
sector, so they can easily target the visitor or the customer. Based on the purpose of the visitor, we

Therefore, sustainable tourism should include 3 aspects. First of all, we should make optimal use of
environmental resources in order to developing and maintaining essential ecological processes. It
also helps to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity. Secondly, we should respect the socio
cultural of host communities by conserving their built and living cultural heritage. Moreover, we
also should respect their traditional value, and contribute to inter cultural understanding. Lastly, we
should consider the long term economic operations by providing socio economic benefits to all
stakeholders that are distributed. We should create stable employment for local people and
opportunities to earn income. In addition, we also need to provide some social services to host
community to help them maintain their property.
Based on the definition of mass tourism and sustainable tourism, we could say that mass tourism is
unsustainable. Anna Pollock from the article Six Reason Why Mass Tourism Is Unsustainable have
come up with six reasons to prove that mass tourism is unsustainable. The first reason is because
one product is substitutable for another. The mass tourism about distribution and consumption of
packaged products. When the local people see the tourist interesting in something, they will focus
more on that product and cut back from the other product. Therefore, that will destroy the balance
and it can destroy a culture. The

Possible Difficulties In College Essay examples
The results of going to college the very first time vary with different people. Some people will be
frightened by the way of life change, and the transition from living with family to being by their
selves. On the other hand some people will be ready to move on, and to proceed with their future,
and will jump at the moment to take another class that will better themselves. College will provide
difficulties around every corner but will also provide the opportunities to go around those
difficulties to succeed.
When in an online college a difficulty may arise where a class will interfere with outside activities
such as work and will usually temporize with their school work. Furthermore a student, with the

Likewise participating in class after work will lessen the number of hours that will be used for
outside activities with friends and family. This may cause some people to feel overworked and
become frustrated, which may cause the student to loose sight of the overall picture.
On the contrary some people will find college easy due to their ability to adapt to a different
environment. They will rely on friends and fellow schoolmates to push them along until the end.
For instance a student may tell all of his friends about what classes that they are taking, and what
assignments are pressuring them. As a result of this method friends will constantly interact with
them, pressure them into completing the classes on time and completely, and will usually
provide an input of idea s and knowledge in for the assignments. Sometimes in classes there may
be an assignment that will be to difficult to complete based on knowledge, however the ability to
go to a classmate and ask for help, or even call a family member with the knowledge in a certain
subject, will always be an available tool. Similarly online is a great tool, schools will provide a
forum or a chat room to interact with classmates, and will usually provide a section for specific
homework in order for students to post questions, ultimately this will provide the opportunity for the
class to input ideas and see the required steps upon

The Battle of Bunker Hill Essay
The Battle of Bunker Hill The battle of Bunker s Hill was one of the most important battles during
the Revolutionary War. On June 17, 1775, the Battle of Bunker Hill took place. Fought during the
Siege of Boston, it lent considerable encouragement to the revolutionary cause. This battle made
both sides realize that this was not going to be a matter decided on by one quick and decisive
battle. The battle of Bunker Hillwas not just an unplanned, random attack on British soldiers
preformed by a few crazed colonists. The battle was the result of struggle and hostility between
Great Britain and the colonies for many years. The feelings of angst were due to the simple fact of
the taxes the British were placing on them combined with the... Show more content on

These were not the only incidents that caused unrest to exist between the Colonies and the British.
There had been incidents between British soldiers and colonists for some time, due mainly to the
Quartering Act. These incidents finally erupted into the Boston Massacre, an event that resulted in
colonists deaths and more distrust. These feelings of discontent and the growing fear of an uprising
would lead the British to proceed to Lexington and Concord and destroy colonial military supplies.
This left the colonists with the feeling of hatred and total malice towards the British. Neither side
trusted the other, and had concerns that the opposition would launch an attack upon them. When
the British planned to occupy Dorchester Heights on the Boston Peninsula, the colonists became
alarmed at the build up of British troops off the coast. The colonists decided that action had to be
taken; they had to stop the threatening British movement in this territory to protect them from an
attack.
It was because of this as well as the many small skirmishes through the years, which would lead the
colonies into a confrontation with the British. The Battle of Bunker Hill started when the colonists
learned about the British plan to occupy Dorchester Heights. The colonists were unnerved by this
news. They, the Colonists

Promoting Universal Design Of Learning
The cast website was designed to give teachers, and future teachers some tools on how to better
teach their students. It also helps promote the use of a learning curriculum design called the
Universal Design of Learning also known as (UDL). One other thing about the website it looks
like it was designed to be of easy use, and easy access of the materials that are on the site. A reason
that the website is promoting Universal Design of Learning is so that teachers can reach all of their
students learning types, while only having to teach a subject one time rather than multiple times.
Some other reasons why this program is important for teachers to know about is that according to
the cast website CAST researches and develops innovative solutions to make educationmore
inclusive and effective (cast.org, 2015). An important thing to know is it allows teachers more
ways of differentiating in their classrooms, so that they can make sure to get all of their students
learning needs met when they are teaching their classes. It is important to know because according
to the website it is researchers are working to:
Develop promising approaches for increasing the accessibility and potential effectiveness of online
learning for students with disabilities. These may include accessibility and support features for
online learning, providing supplementary offline resources, individualizing online learning,

Judgement In Fool Moon
Judgement is an episode from the series Angel, which was directed by Michael Lange. This
episode is full of action, drama, and fantasy. It is based on the people having the judgement about

Butcher. Fool Moon is the novel which follows the character of Harry Dresden, who is known as
professional wizard. It also shows Dresden being skeptical in telling the truthabout what is

He is also reluctant to tell the truth to Murphy. He feels that she is not able to handle the crimes

calm voice. I am not some porcelain doll on a self. I m a police officer. I catch bad guys and I put
their asses away, and if it comes down to it, I take a bullet so that some poor housewife or CPA

by herself. Also, at the end, Murphy proves that she is just as strong and brace the men as she
fights alongside of them no matter what kind of the danger situation is coming towards her. In the
Fool Moon , Dresden s friend Murphy no longer trust him. It is so because Dresden is not giving
the proper information about the things that he knows. Similarly, he is also not telling about the
supernatural things that is happening around along with mysterious death of the people. So,
Murphy arrests Dresden saying that he is responsible for Kim s death, which shows that Murphy

How Billing Current Week + 2 Fortnightly Frequency works?
This video will introduce how current week + 2 fortnightly frequency billing cycle works.
Regarding the billing cycle name, obviously, guardians will pay the current fee and the following 2
weeks fee after the current week in advance.
Now, let me tell you the details.
Assume you start on week 0, usually, the child care centre will submit the attendance for the
week just gone, that is to say, the centre will submit week 0 attendance to Government CCMS.
Then CCMS will calculate the CCB, CCR JFA rebates for week 0 over the weekend. On
Saturday on week 0, guardians will receive the 1st invoice for the payment, and the amount on the
invoice is estimated gap fee (after CCB, CCR JFA calculation) for the upcoming 3 weeks based on
the week 0 attendance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Preludes
Preludes TS Eliot Relevant Background В•Thomas Stearns [TS] Eliot was born in into a
wealthy family in St Louis, Missouri, America in 1888 В•He became a British citizen at the age
of 39 in 1927. В•His father was president of a brick making company. His mother wrote poetry
and was once a teacher and social volunteer. They were determined to educate Thomas well.
В•TS Eliot s awareness of how differently some people lived inspired a lot of the descriptions
found in В‘Preludes . В•Through the work of his mother and grandfather TS Eliot became aware
of poverty and the boring reality of peoples lives. В•In 1917 he published В‘Preludes . В‘Preludes

Or it may be the cab driver. Perhaps Eliot is observing a street prostitute, the В‘you of the poem,
as she stands on the pavement among the withered leaves. В•It might be helpful to regard this
poem, like the others, as a video post card of this moment, six o clock on the winter s evening.
Eliot used words as his way of painting the picture. В•The time is pinpointed at 6 o clock
precisely. В•Residents, living probably in one roomed apartments, are cooking their evening
meal all at the same time. They are probably all workers living in flats. The word В‘passageways
suggests the houses have been turned into flats for rent. Even though it seems a run down part
of town, the residents can afford steak. В•By linking the scene here with the В‘stale smells of
beer and В‘dingy shades in furnished rooms of В‘Prelude II and the В‘thousand sordid images
of В‘Prelude III , one could assume that the Preludes are set in a red light district of a city.
В•The smell of steak is a signal that day is done and night is beginning. Because of city smoke
the day is described as smoky. Maybe the smoke occurs because people are cooking at the same
time. The tiredness of the workers is suggested by the word В‘burnt out . Or is there a humorous
suggestion that they over cook the steaks? В•The weather is bad; a windy shower beats on the
buildings and on the horse outside. The cold rain evaporates as steam off the horse s back. В•It is
early winter as the

Example Of Piracy Research Paper
Pirates are criminals who steal vessels, people and goods on the sea and coastal areas. Privateers
were privately owned ships that captured sea trade under orders from various governments.
Buccaneers were government sponsored pirate crews who attacked Spanish ships in the Caribbean
during the 17th century. Terms privateers and buccaneers are today both synonyms for piracy. The
earliest example of piracy is recorded in 14th century BC Mediterranean.
First, a pirate attack that significantly endangered any country was pirate attacks on Olympos in
3rd century BC. Earliest pirates came from first nations who used the ocean for commerce
Illyrians, Tyrrhenians, Greeks, and Romans. A pirate who served as the largest motivation for
generations of other pirates after him was Henry Every, English pirate who managed not only to
capture largest pirate loot of all time, but he managed to remain free until his death. The most usual

Occurrences of buried pirate treasure were greatly popularized by novelists, but in reality, only
two such events were ever verified, one by English captain Francis Drake, who buried cargo of
Silver, and pirate William Kidd who buried his treasure before he knew he would be arrested. He
was sentenced to death, and treasure was never found. In the history of piracy, there were not many
women. But several managed to rise to prominence, most notably Anne Bonny and Mary Read,
who served together on a pirate ship. Anne Bonny was in the relationship with pirate Captain
Calico Jack Rackham, who was caught and hanged in 1720. Mary Read died in prison from fever,
but final fate of Anne Bonny is not known.
The life of and average pirate would be less adventurace than you may imagine. Their average day
included sailing, sailing, and more sailing. They only rarely stummbled upon another vessal to
plunder and rob. That is why its not that exciting. I wrote this because I love

have come to know and love as a part of our families. Dogs have been man s best friend for
hundreds of years and were the first animal to be domesticated because they are great as
companions, highly intelligent, and were found to be very useful in human s everyday lives.
Even though they made excellent house pets they were highly successful at working side by side

This grab is strong and hard. There is always a large possibility that the suspect/criminal can/will be
bitten if they attempt to fight off the dog but when thinking about it even the dog gripping onto
the suspect will inflict a bite. They would not be able to hold the suspect as well if they did not
apply pressure into their grip. Before any dog has to be turned loose, they try to intimidate the
person first by giving them a warning that if they start to run, the dog will be released and will
chase after them. A barking tactic is also used to scare the person into not running away. Even in
a case where the officer and dog seem to have the upper hand, there are many situations where
the tables can be completely turned. Both the officer and the dog are trained to work together as
a team. They must be able to fully trust and understand one another especially when they are
placed in extremely dangerous and stressful situations. It is the responsibility of the officer the
dog is being handled by to only use the dog when the situation absolutely calls for it. Any other
way would be very inappropriate and would be a terrible miss use of the animal. Not being
responsible could also put the dog in more of harm s way which can take a definite turn for the
worst.

He believes that the truth may be nonexistent and powerless. Sarath seems to be concerned about
this idea of finding the truth even from the beginning when he says he would have given his life
for the truth if the truth was of any use (157). He thinks that knowing what really happened to
Sailor will not change anything in their country, and is more so scared of the harsh
consequences it will bring. Not only does Sarath believe this, but he is also under the impression
that Most of the time in our world, truth is just opinion (102). He believes that with all of the
propaganda and lies the government is feeding to their citizens they may no longer see that truth
for what it is. They have been brainwashed in a sort of way in the sense that the truth is just an
opinion based on who is telling it, skewing as well as moulding it into something that it is not.
Sarath has this way of thinking that makes him different than the others in his group. He is much
more of a slow and methodical decision maker, especially with his statements. I don t think
clarity is necessarily truth (259) is a simple yet clear example of this type of his thinking. Sarath

The Dangers Of Polish People In The Holocaust
In the graphic novel The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman, the Polish people were conveyed as
selfish and cruel for the actions they chose to carry out, protecting themselves before the Jews. I
do not necessarily believe the Polish people were as evil as the Germans during the Holocaust, but
I believe that in this world no one is perfect. Everyone has done things that they are not proud of as
human beings. I am convinced that the Polesare better than the Nazis because the Poles actually
tried to assist some Jews by hiding them in their homes. As humans, we cannot really know what
we would do in circumstances like the Holocaustunless we are faced with them. People may still
judge the Poles for their actions however, they were humans beings making a human decision.
During the Holocaust, there was a select few Polish people that were willing to risk their lives
and provide refuge for Jews that were in need of harboring. In the article One million Polish
rescuers of hunted Jews? by Hans G Furth, Furth discusses the number of rescuers that were
executed as a result of hiding some Jews in their homes. According to Furth, Thousands of Poles
were executed for helping Jews (Furth 230). The Polish people received the same punishment as
the Jews when they were discovered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. The Poles were murdered
on the spot or burned alive with the Jewish victims. During that period of time, Jews were walking

Not the most surprising answer to hear, but it s true about how Julius was able to established his

Persecution Against An Unchartered Jargon Essay
Persecution Against an Unchartered Jargon
The Webster Dictionary defines the word language as the system of words or signs that people
use to express thoughts and feelings to each other as well as any one of the systems of human
language that are used and understood by a particular group of people (Webster Dictionary). If
language is a tool dedicated as a communication source to understand one another, why is the way
certain people talk being neglected and marked as not an actual language? Language has evolved
into more than just words being expressed through our voices, but has converted into a weapon
used to ridicule and attack other dialects due to how different and unorthodox a particular language
may be. James Baldwin in If Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? argues that
Black English was a form of the African American community s own dialectof the English
language, and neglecting the language as its own contradicts the definition of the word language
itself. Bell hooks explores and points out the class differences within our society and not just
within our colleges major universities, pointing out how in which assimilation is not inevitable
and not required wherever an individual enters. Our own stories and the way we present ourselves
through our words should not be limited to a certain form; in F for Book Report, R. Zamora
Linmark endorses the linguistic power to represent ourselves anyway we like and our own

To what extent has diplomacy failed to adapt to the international system brought by globalization?
Diplomacy which came into play thousands of years ago before they concept of globalization was

Globalization are all major aspects in the study of study of International Relations. The concept of
an international system brought by globalization and fostered through a varrying number of

Roberts (2006), suggested that it has its roots in Greek and was later used by the French
(diplomatie) to refer to the work of a negotiator on behalf of a sovereign. There is a long history of
diplomatic activity going back at least two millennia. Sovereigns sent envoys to other sovereigns
for various reasons: to prevent wars, to cease hostilities, or merely to continue peaceful relations and
further economic exchanges. The first foreign ministry was created in Paris by Cardinal Richelieu
in 1626. Other European countries followed the French example. As absolute monarchs gave way
to constitutional monarchies and republics, embassies and legations became more institutionalized
all over Europe, and by the end of the nineteenth century European style diplomacy had been
adopted throughout the world.
The ability to practice diplomacy is one of the defining elements of a state. Diplomacy has been
practiced since the inception of civilization. In Europe, diplomacy begins with the first city states
formed in ancient Greece. Diplomats were sent only for specific negotiations, and would return
immediately after their mission concluded. Diplomats were usually relatives of the ruling family or
of very high rank in order to give them legitimacy when they sought to negotiate with the other

American Airpower s Dependence On Technology And Its...
American airpower s dependence on technology and its influence on future employment are best
described with the words of General H. H. Arnold shortly after the Second World War: The first
essential of air power necessary for peace and security is the preeminence in research . . . . We must
count on scientific advances requiring us to replace about one fifth of existing Air Forces
equipment each year and we must be sure that these additions are the most advanced in the whole
world. Furthermore, General N. F. Twining believed Air Force not to be bound to any fixed
doctrine or concept, but its doctrine grows out of scientific achievement. Therefore, influence of
technology on American airpower is evident since its beginnings and especially after the 1947 and
the establishment of the independent United States Air Force (USAF) service. Technology
continued to have the impact on American airpower after the 1947 through numerous technological
achievements and inventions, but some of the major ones had substantial influence in American
aerial warfare. Jet engine improvements and missiletechnology changed viewpoint on strategic
bomber, and precision targeting technology and Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) system enabled
accurate weapon delivery. Moreover, the invention of the stealth technology brought invisibility to
the radar technology. Technological improvements of the jet engine and innovations of the missile
technology started to change a viewpoint on airpower

experiment. Starting by cleansing the work surface with disinfected wipes to prevent cross
contamination each time. Utilizing the gloves and personal protective equipment assisted in
maintaining a pure culture during the series of experiments. The first step, was to grow the yeast
and bacteria cultures. The materials used for the Aseptic Technique Experiment(1) were: test tube
rack, 5 mL nutrient broth tubes, pipettes, a lit tea light, Fleischmen s rapid yeast pack, E. Coli
tablet and the S. epidermidis tablet. Started by activating the yeast, by placing the content of
Fleischmen s yeast bag in a disposable cup. Then added approximately 60 mL of warm tap water
into the disposable cup. To assist in mixing the two items, I carefully swirled the cup. Once the
mixture was combined, it then was left alone for around 10 minutes or until it was frothy. Each
nutrient broth tube was labeled with the correct name of the microorganism that was cultured in
that tube and dated. The S. epidermidis was selected first, to be cultured. Taking one of the 5mL

A turning point in the VietnamWar was the Battle of Ac Bac 1963. This is where the Vietcong
won the fight between the ARVN despite their superior fire power, and the fact that the Vietcong

and easily defeated, therefore more troops were needed to solve this problem.

service standards, proper staffing is crucial to an organization #65533;s success. In spite of the
importance of having a top notch workforce, many considerations crucial to developing that
effective workforce were overlooked at Euro Disney. Staffing shortages created a negative cycle

employees. Communication barriers in the workplace were created by language and cultural gaps

Gun Weapons Of The United States
There is an estimated 300 million registered gun owners in the United States. With that many
Americans owning guns, its not a surprise nearly 68% of all homicides reported to the FBI
involved firearms. It s a good thing the forensics of firearms has advanced to a point that with just
a single round recovered, ballistic experts can tell investigators, what caliber round was fired what
type of weapon fired the round, and in some cases the distance at which the round was fired.
Without such advancement, more murderers would be walking free.
When arriving to a crime scene where weapons are present, safety is always top priority. Treat
every firearm as if it is loaded. When deciding to unload a weapon you always want to do so with
the utmost care, to preserve all types of evidence. This evidence includes fingerprints, blood,
hair or fibers, cylinder halos and debris in the barrel and /or cylinder.(www.crime scene

Glass Ceiling
Gender and Bias in the Workplace
1 Is there still a glass ceiling for women in the workplace? Is there one for men? What progress has
or can be made to break through it for all employees? What about glass walls? The glass cliff?
Are these real roadblocks for men and women in certain careers or is there more to them than gender
? A glass ceilingis defined as a barrier that prevents a particular gender from rising reaching a
particular hierarchical level in a workplace. Today the glass ceiling is still very intact especially
in the case of women. Despite the fact that women and the feminist have been fighting for their
rights in the society for so long which they have been gaining in the recent few years, it can be
true to say that the glass ceiling for the women still exists for particular reasons (Cocco, 2008). The
reasons include the fact that men still hold the top workplace positions and inequalities in the
paternity as well as the maternity leaves. Furthermore, the stereotype against women is not 100%
gone. For the men, the glass ceiling does not exist. These can be brought down by the adoption of
the zero tolerance policies for activities such as discrimination. Glass walls are blocks that prevent
individuals from interrelating downwards in a workplace. This mainly exists in activities such as
coaching (Shields, 2016). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Daniel Chapter 3 Hebrew Men Analysis
In this essay I will be writing about The Three Hebrew Men. This story comes from the book of
Daniel chapter 3. It is about three men whose names were: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
The bible makes us to understand that the king of the Babylon empire at that time was king
Nebuchadnezzar. The story starts off when Nebuchadnezzar built a statute of Gold. Then he
invited important people from all over the land to come and see the statute that he built. Daniel
chapter 3 verse 4 5 says: Then a herald cried aloud: To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations,
and languages, that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in
symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King
Nebuchadnezzar has set up. king Nebuchadnezzar had asked all the people who came to see the
statue to fall down and worship the statue. Meanwhile it is written in the bible that when the

Madeleine Leininger Nursing Theory
Introduction
As a young girl I have always enjoyed being around people in their time of needs as well as
internal satisfaction by serving those that need my help. In my day to day nursing career, I have
encountered several patients from different cultures and traditions. During my short time caring
for people with diverse cultural background. I have learned that this population involves a lot of
complex care; My nursing interventions focus not only on the patients physical needs, but also
their emotional and spiritual needs. I have always interacted with my patient with caring,
kindness, gentleness and patience. Moreover, I made them feel valued by being kind,
compassionate, and ready to listen to their complaints and frustrations. It give me great pleasure to
hear my patient say they had a good day because of the care I was able to provide them. I found
Madeleine Leininger nursing Theory of Cultural care very helpful and valuable. A major strength
of Leininger s theory is the recognition of the importance of cultures and its influence on patients
and providers of nursing care. This research paper provides me with a good foundation on how to
deal with different situations especially when it comes to different cultures. Making the patient part
of the care allows us to be more successful in our effort.

The definition encompasses ideas such as open access, open collaboration, citizen science,

the aspect of open science that relates to open data, in which data is available to the public (Pampel
Dallmeier Tiessen, 2014; OECD, 2015). The main rationale for open science is that the sharing of
information will increase transparency in data collection and analysis, communication, and
collaboration, thereby increasing education and innovation (OECD, 2015). Open science platforms
are becoming more commonplace as digital technologies improve, but there is very little
information on: 1. potential successes and pitfalls of open science in the context of conservation,

Most Significant Development In Human History
There are three distinctive theories of the most significant development in the human history and
those are, Olduwan tools, hunting, and fire. Even though Olduwan tools giving access and the
ability for early humans to hunt in groups, the most significant factor I believe is fire. It is
because, fire gave the ability to early humans to cook raw meats in return, gave access to better
nutritionand easier ability to break down foodwhich helped with further evolution of human
physiology.
The importance fire can first be seen in the biological standpoint. Evidence shows nutrition that the
cooked meat gave versus the raw meat through increased size of the brain. According to Adler

The cooked food gave the early human advantage of consume food that were easier to digest
because, the cooked food alters food in three important ways. First, it breaks starch molecules into
more digestible fragments, it denatures protein molecules, and the heat physically softens food
(N.A, 2009). This gave the early humans spend more time on doing variety of different things
rather than spend hours at a time chewing on food which won t give time to develop intelligence.
Also the soft food gave change in human structure with smaller teeth and jaws which gave more
accessibility to brain size. Another factor that increased the intelligence of early human is
attempting to create a controlled fire which further gave the ability to travel to the region that was
colder than the continent of origin Africa. The tools and hunting might have given the early
humans the ability to access the food. However, all the evidence points to the fact that the
significance of fire and how it helped the early humans to develop intelligence, consumption of
food that was higher in nutrient and the ability to travel to different region that was cold at the tide

Slit Drum History
The evolution of the drums has varied from being made from a simple wood log, to having a
hollow object covered in rawhide, to being completely electronic. Like any instrument, each one
produces a different sound. Some may sound light like a snare, deep like a bass, or metronomic by
simply producing a clicking noise to keep count. Some are completely electronic, even.
Starting from one of the oldest drums in the world, the slit drum is an instrument originating from
Africa that is made from a hollow piece of wood or carved from bamboo. They are typically
made with three slits, (hence the name slit drum ) each one producing a different tone. Like
most drums, slit drums can be played using rubber mallet or with the tips of your finger tips.
Unlike today, where we have telephones and social media to talk to one another long distantly,
this instrument was once, and probably still is, used as a form of communication. For war cries,
signaling, storytelling, and ceremonies. The djembe drum is made somewhat like the slit drum.
Made with a hardwood that is hollowed out, however, this drum is made with a piece of animal

Ethical Issues In Huck Finn
Throughout its history, Huck Finn has faced many controversies. It was shunned by many news
outlets at the time of its writing for its subject matter, being called trash by many publications. It
was even banned from some libraries for this reason. However, despite its flaws, Huck Finn
proves to be an entertaining novel that offers an interesting look into pre Civil war America, and
should be freely avaliable for all to read. Despite its inherent value as an examination of its time,
many people had a problem with the manner in which it was portrayed. One of these apparent
issues was noted by a censor of the Concord public library, who called into question the use of the
dialect and grammatical style of the book. To quote the New York Herald, who were reporting
on the situation, Another committeeman perused the volume with great care and discovered that
it was couched in the language of a rough, ignorant dialect and that all through its pages there is
a systematic use of bad grammar and an employment of inelegant expressions. These
mannerisms, combined with other offenses, led to the book garnering a trashy reputation in the
eyes of the censors, who quickly banned it from their library. however, to view these
mannerisms as trashy and nothing more would be to misunderstand a large portion of the novel s
appeal. This novel is a period piece, set in the south before the onset of the Civil War. In order to
fully immerse the reader into this setting, Twain made sure to include all of the different dialects
that a person in that setting might hear. As the Athenaeum deftly explains, (The characters are)
schooled in half a dozen extraordinary dialects the Pike County dialect in all its forms, the dialect
of the Missouri negro, and the extremest form of the backwoods South Western dialect, to wit. This
makes the story and characters more entertaining, as it allows the reader to truly immerse
themselves into the narrative. However, some would argue that this immersion isn t entertaining in
it s own right. These people would say that, despite its the lengths it take to immerse you in its
story, it s generally coarse nature would drive off anyone who would try to endure it for more than

When using imagery, we can imagine what is going on, what the unknown characters did, and how
it s affecting an individual and the entire community. Thiswould eventually allow us to find out
who the characters truly are, and what they believe in. Memories also play a key role in the
message of identity, since we can understand why specific characters did some things. Memories
can influence them, or remind them of people who were once with them. They may be physically
gone, but they re still in memories, and can still influence decisions, as seen in War of the Wall. In
the end, no matter what you re reading, there are characters who do things that may confuse you,
but imagery and memories within the text can eventually lead you onto the right path of

Woman Of Algiers Essay
The woman of Algiers was a group of North African woman who inspired Delacroix to paint a
portrait of them during his voyage to North Africa. His painting was a great work of art that gave
us the perfect synthesis between romanticism and classicism and let us view the woman in their
relaxed state in the Muslim Haram. Now Eugene Delacroix wasn t the only one to paint the woman
of Algiers, although he was the creator of the original painting. Pablo Picasso was another
influential painter who was inspired by the painting Delacroix did of the women and decided to
create his own unique version. Both the paintings are well known and of the same scene but have
unique characteristics to make them their own. This essay will go through some of the similarities...

Muslim harems were heavily guarded and so it was difficult to enter one. Delacroix was
fortunate enough to meet a man named Victor Poirel who owned a private harem and so he was
granted his wish to enter and stay for some time and was even given permission to paint several
watercolor sketches. These sketches like mentioned before were painted in morocco, a country
in Northern Africa in 1834. It wasn t made specifically for any one person but was merely a
representation of a lifestyle that was vastly different from the French. Delacroix seemed to be
refreshed by the culture that Morocco presented; from the brightly colored, flowing costumes, the
Arabs and their women, and the enchanting horses all of these seemed to captivate the artist
which inspired this work and many of Delacroix other pieces. From these sketches Delacroix
painted Women of Algiers in their apartment upon his return home and aimed to convey its
serenity and sacredness to the outside world. In the painting we can see four women, three of a
lighter complexion and one of a darker complexion. They seem to be in a relaxed state with their
legs crossed and arms rested. They are not looking at

A Trip To Perimeter Research Paper
It dawned on me one trip to Perimeter mall s foot locker, I ve been buying sneakers from this
store since I was 10, and it s almost as if nothing had changed. A fact that shocked me being how I
was already thinking about buying some shoes that day. The nostalgia hit me immediately as I
remembered fondly on trips here with my mother and father before my father moved away. The
footlocker has barely changed much over the years as the employees still wear their referee black
and white stripes, accompanied with the latest shoetrend. The store still smells of newly Packaged
rubber, and the eye catching new shoes still have a budget draining price tag hanging off the side
of them. [I saw this mother and son couple and watched as the mother would... Show more content

I spotted this one girl I use to be in class with back when I went to Dunwoody High, I turned the
corner to try to get away from her and that s when I noticed that I went to middle school with the
cute cashier at dairy queen. I decided against going and making conversation with her and just
went about my business. I start to notice a trend as people with Shopping bags seem to be the
happiest ones at the mall making me start to suspect that this could be a direct causation. I began
to think back on times when I would go shopping here and would find myself behaving a bit
more friendly and eager to have a conversation. The case was the same for me even when I was
younger, whenever I would buy something regardless of what It was I was often happier and open
to buy something else. This all was something that I never noticed as a

Sugar Baby Research Paper
From my research, the sugar babies personal stories reflected on how the relationship originated
using the website SeekingArrangement.com, a site devoted to the development of sugar baby and
sugar daddy arrangements. Seeking Arrangement plays an integral role in the perception of the
sugar baby because of their significant media presence. They often write articles where they
specifically define the differences between the sugaring relationships and use tactics to get young,
impressionable girls who are in a financial need the benefits of the sugaring lifestyle and the ability
to support herself. SeekingArrangement.com has an annual SugarBaby Summit to consign with
their media presence. The summit normally includes a panel, sugar babies, and... Show more content

No sugaring experience is the same because their are several different factors and structures in
each arrangement. Although, one thing that most sugar babies participate is is having sex with
their sugar daddy in order to receive and allowance, and this is where the sugar baby relationship
begins to slip into the realms of sex work rather than a relationship. However, for other sugar
babies, sex isn t on the table until they form a relationship. Since sugar baby relationships are so
unique it s hard to have one definition of a sugar baby. But, Motyl Jacqueline, successfully
categorizes the levels of the sugar baby dynamic to see whether or not they re engaging in legal
activity according to Section 230 of Communications Decency Act. Jacqueline writes, However,
since the 1970s, courts have agreed that sexual acts are not deemed to fall within the realm of
prostitution if there is something accompanying the sex, such as companionship, dinner, or even
cleaning the house. This is why the sugaring relationship is so hard to define according to the law.
SeekingArrangement advertises the sugar baby relationship as only a mentoring companionship
between two people, but for some sugar babies the relationship between a sugar daddy and a sugar
baby is purely

Analysis Of The Book 1984 By George Orwell
George Orwell s novel 1984 written nearly seventy years ago tells the tale of Winston Smith
through a dystopian culture controlled by a government that is always watching. The novel was
meant to deter people away from rising totalitarian societies at the time like Germany and the
Soviet Union. Winston s first diary entry depicts the events of his seemingly normal day. He
begins with, Last night to the flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees
being bombed somewhere in the Mediterranean. He goes on to write about an overweight refugee
in the filmattempting to swim away, only to be shot multiple times by the gunmen. As the man went
underwater, Winston says the audienceshout[ed] with laughter when he sank. Orwell continues to
write this gruesome entry, making the audiences so unbelievably horrifying with their continuous
laughter at suffering.
This conglomeration of heartless people would only be found in a book, right? Orwell wrote this
for people suffering in countries with political dominance. The citizens gave in to what the
government put in front of them, and in that molded their value system to make even the wonderful
shot of a child s arm going up up up right up into the air cause the audience to jump for joy.
Orwell s entire novel is terrifying to say in the least, but what bothers me the most about the
mentioned diary entry is realizing that this is not far off from where we are as a society watching
movies.

Karl Make Research Paper
In 1859, when Manhattan still had many farms, near the Battery on the island s southern tip The
Great American Tea Company was launched. It grew, and outgrew its name, becoming in 1870 The
Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Company, which in 1912 begat the first A P Economy Store, a semi
modern grocery store.
By 1920, there were 4,500 such stores; by 1930, 15,000. In 1936, in Braddock, Pennsylvania, A P
opened a supermarket. By the 1950s, A P was, briefly, what Walmart now is, the nation s largest
retailer, with a 75 percent share of America s grocery business. A P was, however, about to learn
that Karl Marx was right.
In The Communist Manifesto, Marx testified to capitalism s transformative power: All that is solid
melts into air. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neil Irwin of The New York Times writes of Amazon: The online retailer is on a collision course
with Walmart to try to be the predominant seller of pretty much everything you buy. Each one is
trying to become more like the other Walmart by investing heavily in technology, Amazon by
opening physical bookstores and now buying physical supermarkets. Something similar, says Irwin,
is happening in nearly every major industry, benefiting the biggest and best run organizations, to the
detriment of upstarts and second fiddle players.
In the accelerated churning of today s capitalism, changing tastes and expanding choices destroy
some jobs and create others, with net gains in price and quality. But disruption is never restful,
and America now faces a decision unique in its history: Is it tired tired of the turmoil of creative
destruction? If so, it had better be ready to do without creativity. And ready to stop being what it
has always been: restless.
Americans just now are being plied with promises that the political class can, and is eager to,
protect them from the need to make strenuous exertions to provide for themselves in an
increasingly competitive world. If the nation really is ready to sag into a rocking chair, it can while
away its days and

Perception Of Blind And Fair Justice
Despite the appealing notion of blind and fair justice, many question the existence of this ideal in
reality and rightly so. Many of the challenges to law s claim of impartiality concern the influence of
social characteristics such as race or sex when they should be irrelevant. Marc Galanter introduces a
more structural argument, related to the frequency with which one litigates, bringing disputes
before a court. Galanter claims that those who regularly engage in similar litigation, whom he
labels repeat players (RPs) have multiple advantages over one shotters (OSs), who rarely enter the
forum of law, where courts interpret and apply official rules to settle disputes, in their ability to
achieve desired legal outcomes. The fact that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though not all repeat players are necessarily society s haves some of the residents of the urban
neighborhood studied by Sally Engle Merry are examples of exceptions in American society, most
are. One often thinks of haves and have nots in terms of material differences, but where Galanter
adds the most value to the discussion of inequality is his explanation of the more dynamic
advantages that come from more frequent legal engagement and which continually reinforce this
inequality.
Part of Galanter s project in identifying the mechanism behind systematic biases in the courts is his
desire to prescribe potential avenues for reform. It is not only important to recognize that the haves
come out ahead but also why they do. Though he does discuss tangible differences in resources,
including access to specialized knowledge, those factors alone can miss the less tangible benefits
that certain parties enjoy. For example, due to their ongoing contact with the court, RPs uniquely
have the opportunity to become more embedded in the community of legal actors and build social
capital through these informal relationships. Though Eisenstein, Flemming, and Nardulli
specifically study county criminal courts in their study, their observations of the unique cultures of
court communities can extend to the forum of law more broadly. They note that membership in
such a community allows for trust to be established and credit to be built.

Single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping was conducted on the Illumina platform by (Song,
Hyten, et al., 2013) and genotype data of 52,041 SNPs scored on 14,430 germplasm accessions to
develop the Illumina Infinium SoySNP50K BeadChip. SNPs were scored using Genome Studio
Genotyping Module v1.8.4 (Illumina, Inc.) and SNPs with minor allele frequency (MAF) of 0.05
were ruled out from further analysis. Subsequently 42,041 SNPs with minor allele frequency ≥
0.05 across 491 genotypes were used for GWAS analysis.

subpopulations with five replications. The Wilcoxon signed ranked test implemented in SAS 9.4
(SAS Institute, 2017) is used to select the optimum number of subpopulations (Rosenberg, 2004).
The optimum number of subpopulations is the smallest K in the first nonsignificant Wilcoxon test.
Distruct 1.1 (Rosenberg, 2003) is to be used for graphical display of the STRUCTURE output.
Genome Wide Association Mapping
Advances in genotyping technology, reduction in cost of next generation sequencing has led to a
rapid increase of molecular markers for genomics studies (Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007,
Chaudhary, Patil, et al., 2015). The use of association analysis to study complex traits in plants is
now a viable approach. TASSEL program (Trait Analysis by aSSociations, Evolution and Linkage)
(Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007) is software used to conduct association analysis. TASSEL accounts
for false positives that arise from population and family structure by structured association
(Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007).
For a genome wide association study the false positive rates of the general linear model (GLM),
the mixed linear model (MLM), and the compressed MLM will be compared to determine the best
model to use and subsequently run on TASSEL program (Bradbury, Zhang, et al., 2007).

PROJECT RISKS AND MITIGATION TECHNIQUES FOR OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
Reservoir Uncertainty This may be the greatest project management risk in the entire industry.
Exploratory wells can only provide limited information to the reservoir engineering team who in
turn must take this limited info and provide an educated guess of the amount of reserves to the
production team who will soon report to the project team. Prospective oil and gas projects are
only progressed from the concept phase if it is believed that the reserves can be recovered safely,

Tree Of Life Journal Entry
The Tree of Life entry was one I created after I was able to leave work early on the weekend. I had
only worked with pastel oil colors a few times before, and wanted to draw something that was
somewhat intricate, but also set in a very smooth and free flowing background. I began by drawing
the circle, a Mandala, I just didn t know it at the time, and the trunk of the tree. As I began filling
in the outline of the tree limbs, I found myself thinking about my own family tree, and concluded
the limbs in the tree with a strong sense of the connectedness of each person alive today. I chose to
use vibrant and bright colors to silhouette the tree in oranges and yellows to represent the sun which
provides for everything the tree needs to survive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had really wanted to try and draw concentric circles on the paper, and believed it would only look
visually appealing if I had perfect circles, so I purchased a protractor on my way home from school
that day to try in this Mandala. I initially drew the larger outer circle, then drew smaller and smaller
circles until I made it to the middle. I noticed that the tip of the protractor had actually pierced a
hole through the paper and as I looked though the tiny hole I was inspired to turn the entire
Mandala into somewhat of an eye, so I drew a pupil in the middle. I then chose to work with
colored pencil and fill the rest of the page with colors. I used a brown color in the middle to go
along with the eye theme, but then I decided to make the entry more intricate and drew squiggly
lines in the next circle, followed by a complex kaleidoscope pattern. I wanted to progressively
return the patterns back to a simpler and calmer design, and ended up with a yellow star near the
outer edge, almost looking as if it is the setting in which the eye had been mounted, like a stone
in a ring. For me, this gave the Mandala a very stable feeling, I feel as though without it, the
image may begin to swirl. I also chose to set the Mandala into a softly swirling background. I
found that I really enjoy making Mandalas and that it does not have to be geometrically perfect to
still be visually

It also helps to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity. Secondly, we should respect the socio cultural of host communities by conserving their built and living cultural heritage. Moreover, we also should respect their traditional value, and contribute to inter cultural understanding. Lastly, we should consider the long term economic operations by providing socio economic benefits to all stakeholders that are distributed. We should create stable employment for local people and opportunities to earn income. In addition, we also need to provide some social services to host community to help them maintain their property. Based on the definition of mass tourism and sustainable tourism, we could say that mass tourism is unsustainable. As a result of this method friends will constantly interact with them, pressure them into completing the classes on time and completely, and will usually provide an input of idea s and knowledge in for the assignments. Sometimes in classes there may be an assignment that will be to difficult to complete based on knowledge, however the ability to go to a classmate and ask for help, or even call a family member with the knowledge in a certain subject, will always be an available tool. On June 17, 1775, the Battle of Bunker Hill took place. Fought during the Siege of Boston, it lent considerable encouragement to the revolutionary cause. This battle made both sides realize that this was not going to be a matter decided on by one quick and decisive battle. The battle of Bunker Hillwas not just an unplanned, random attack on British soldiers preformed by a few crazed colonists. The battle was the result of struggle and hostility between Great Britain and the colonies for many years. These were not the only incidents that caused unrest to exist between the Colonies and the British. There had been incidents between British soldiers and colonists for some time, due mainly to the Quartering Act. These incidents finally erupted into the Boston Massacre, an event that resulted in colonists deaths and more distrust. These feelings of discontent and the growing fear of an uprising would lead the British to proceed to Lexington and Concord and destroy colonial military supplies. This left the colonists with the feeling of hatred and total malice towards the British. Neither side trusted the other, and had concerns that the opposition would launch an attack upon them. When the British planned to occupy Dorchester Heights on the Boston Peninsula, the colonists became alarmed at the build up of British troops off the coast. The colonists decided that action had to be taken; they had to stop the threatening British movement in this territory to protect them from an attack. It was because of this as well as the many small skirmishes through the years, which would lead the colonies into a confrontation with the British. The Battle of Bunker Hill started when the colonists learned about the British plan to occupy Dorchester Heights. The colonists were unnerved by this news. They, the Colonists ... Perhaps Eliot is observing a street prostitute, the В‘you of the poem, as she stands on the pavement among the withered leaves. В•It might be helpful to regard this poem, like the others, as a video post card of this moment, six o clock on the winter s evening. Eliot used words as his way of painting the picture. В•The time is pinpointed at 6 o clock precisely. В•Residents, living probably in one roomed apartments, are cooking their evening meal all at the same time. They are probably all workers living in flats. The word В‘passageways suggests the houses have been turned into flats for rent. Even though it seems a run down part of town, the residents can afford steak. В•By linking the scene here with the В‘stale smells of beer and В‘dingy shades in furnished rooms of В‘Prelude II and the В‘thousand sordid images of В‘Prelude III , one could assume that the Preludes are set in a red light district of a city. В•The smell of steak is a signal that day is done and night is beginning. Because of city smoke the day is described as smoky. Maybe the smoke occurs because people are cooking at the same time. The tiredness of the workers is suggested by the word В‘burnt out . Or is there a humorous suggestion that they over cook the steaks? В•The weather is bad; a windy shower beats on the buildings and on the horse outside. The cold rain evaporates as steam off the horse s back. В•It is early winter as the ... Privateers were privately owned ships that captured sea trade under orders from various governments. The Dangers Of Polish People In The Holocaust In the graphic novel The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman, the Polish people were conveyed as selfish and cruel for the actions they chose to carry out, protecting themselves before the Jews. I do not necessarily believe the Polish people were as evil as the Germans during the Holocaust, but I believe that in this world no one is perfect. Everyone has done things that they are not proud of as human beings. I am convinced that the Polesare better than the Nazis because the Poles actually tried to assist some Jews by hiding them in their homes. • 38. Slit Drum History The evolution of the drums has varied from being made from a simple wood log, to having a hollow object covered in rawhide, to being completely electronic. Like any instrument, each one produces a different sound. Some may sound light like a snare, deep like a bass, or metronomic by simply producing a clicking noise to keep count. Some are completely electronic, even. Starting from one of the oldest drums in the world, the slit drum is an instrument originating from Africa that is made from a hollow piece of wood or carved from bamboo. They are typically made with three slits, (hence the name slit drum ) each one producing a different tone. Like most drums, slit drums can be played using rubber mallet or with the tips of your finger tips. Unlike today, where we have telephones and social media to talk to one another long distantly, this instrument was once, and probably still is, used as a form of communication. For war cries, signaling, storytelling, and ceremonies. The djembe drum is made somewhat like the slit drum. Made with a hardwood that is hollowed out, however, this drum is made with a piece of animal hide covering the top of it. It is also a bit like the slit drum in a sense that it is mainly ... What s different from the djembe drum than any other drums created is that it is very spiritual to make them. One has to make a sacrifice and get permission to cut down a tree to make it. After it is cut down, typically the wood is custom fitted to specifically fit the drummer. It s a tradition to this day that you have to be born into in order to play, or be interested in playing the djembe drum. Children are typically taught how to play with coffee cans on the side of the road or with pots and pans. Sounds familiar, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Ethical Issues In Huck Finn Throughout its history, Huck Finn has faced many controversies. It was shunned by many news outlets at the time of its writing for its subject matter, being called trash by many publications. It was even banned from some libraries for this reason. However, despite its flaws, Huck Finn proves to be an entertaining novel that offers an interesting look into pre Civil war America, and should be freely avaliable for all to read. Despite its inherent value as an examination of its time, many people had a problem with the manner in which it was portrayed. One of these apparent issues was noted by a censor of the Concord public library, who called into question the use of the dialect and grammatical style of the book. To quote the New York Herald, who were reporting on the situation, Another committeeman perused the volume with great care and discovered that it was couched in the language of a rough, ignorant dialect and that all through its pages there is a systematic use of bad grammar and an employment of inelegant expressions. These mannerisms, combined with other offenses, led to the book garnering a trashy reputation in the eyes of the censors, who quickly banned it from their library. however, to view these mannerisms as trashy and nothing more would be to misunderstand a large portion of the novel s appeal. This novel is a period piece, set in the south before the onset of the Civil War. In order to fully immerse the reader into this setting, Twain made sure to include all of the different dialects that a person in that setting might hear. As the Athenaeum deftly explains, (The characters are) schooled in half a dozen extraordinary dialects the Pike County dialect in all its forms, the dialect of the Missouri negro, and the extremest form of the backwoods South Western dialect, to wit. This makes the story and characters more entertaining, as it allows the reader to truly immerse themselves into the narrative. However, some would argue that this immersion isn t entertaining in it s own right. These people would say that, despite its the lengths it take to immerse you in its story, it s generally coarse nature would drive off anyone who would try to endure it for more than five minutes. • 40. War Of The Wall Analysis Nowadays, people keep their identity a secret. Some people choose to keep it, while others are forced to keep it hidden within the darkest lairs of their brain. Although they don t let other people know who they truly are, they always have some hidden talents, which is clearly shown within the short story War of the Walland the poem The Names . In the short story War of the Walls , by Toni Cade Bambara, there are two characters who are telling a painter lady to stop painting on a wall that they own . They tell her to stop, but the stranger doesn t listen. A few days later, the two characters find that the lady had painted people on the wall, and eventually, we find out that the wall was dedicated to people who fought for their own freedom.... Memories can influence them, or remind them of people who were once with them. They may be physically gone, but they re still in memories, and can still influence decisions, as seen in War of the Wall. These sketches like mentioned before were painted in morocco, a country in Northern Africa in 1834. It wasn t made specifically for any one person but was merely a representation of a lifestyle that was vastly different from the French. Delacroix seemed to be refreshed by the culture that Morocco presented; from the brightly colored, flowing costumes, the Arabs and their women, and the enchanting horses all of these seemed to captivate the artist which inspired this work and many of Delacroix other pieces. From these sketches Delacroix painted Women of Algiers in their apartment upon his return home and aimed to convey its serenity and sacredness to the outside world. However, for other sugar babies, sex isn t on the table until they form a relationship. Since sugar baby relationships are so unique it s hard to have one definition of a sugar baby. • 44. Analysis Of The Book 1984 By George Orwell George Orwell s novel 1984 written nearly seventy years ago tells the tale of Winston Smith through a dystopian culture controlled by a government that is always watching. The novel was meant to deter people away from rising totalitarian societies at the time like Germany and the Soviet Union. Winston s first diary entry depicts the events of his seemingly normal day. He begins with, Last night to the flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the Mediterranean. He goes on to write about an overweight refugee in the filmattempting to swim away, only to be shot multiple times by the gunmen. As the man went underwater, Winston says the audienceshout[ed] with laughter when he sank. Orwell continues to write this gruesome entry, making the audiences so unbelievably horrifying with their continuous laughter at suffering. This conglomeration of heartless people would only be found in a book, right? Orwell wrote this for people suffering in countries with political dominance. The citizens gave in to what the government put in front of them, and in that molded their value system to make even the wonderful shot of a child s arm going up up up right up into the air cause the audience to jump for joy. Orwell s entire novel is terrifying to say in the least, but what bothers me the most about the mentioned diary entry is realizing that this is not far off from where we are as a society watching movies. • 46. Perception Of Blind And Fair Justice Despite the appealing notion of blind and fair justice, many question the existence of this ideal in reality and rightly so. Many of the challenges to law s claim of impartiality concern the influence of social characteristics such as race or sex when they should be irrelevant. Marc Galanter introduces a more structural argument, related to the frequency with which one litigates, bringing disputes before a court. Galanter claims that those who regularly engage in similar litigation, whom he labels repeat players (RPs) have multiple advantages over one shotters (OSs), who rarely enter the forum of law, where courts interpret and apply official rules to settle disputes, in their ability to achieve desired legal outcomes. The fact that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though not all repeat players are necessarily society s haves some of the residents of the urban neighborhood studied by Sally Engle Merry are examples of exceptions in American society, most are. One often thinks of haves and have nots in terms of material differences, but where Galanter adds the most value to the discussion of inequality is his explanation of the more dynamic advantages that come from more frequent legal engagement and which continually reinforce this inequality. Part of Galanter s project in identifying the mechanism behind systematic biases in the courts is his desire to prescribe potential avenues for reform. It is not only important to recognize that the haves come out ahead but also why they do. Though he does discuss tangible differences in resources, including access to specialized knowledge, those factors alone can miss the less tangible benefits that certain parties enjoy. For example, due to their ongoing contact with the court, RPs uniquely have the opportunity to become more embedded in the community of legal actors and build social capital through these informal relationships. Though Eisenstein, Flemming, and Nardulli specifically study county criminal courts in their study, their observations of the unique cultures of court communities can extend to the forum of law more broadly. They note that membership in such a community allows for trust to be established and credit to be built. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had only worked with pastel oil colors a few times before, and wanted to draw something that was somewhat intricate, but also set in a very smooth and free flowing background. I began by drawing the circle, a Mandala, I just didn t know it at the time, and the trunk of the tree. As I began filling in the outline of the tree limbs, I found myself thinking about my own family tree, and concluded the limbs in the tree with a strong sense of the connectedness of each person alive today. I had really wanted to try and draw concentric circles on the paper, and believed it would only look visually appealing if I had perfect circles, so I purchased a protractor on my way home from school that day to try in this Mandala. I initially drew the larger outer circle, then drew smaller and smaller circles until I made it to the middle. I noticed that the tip of the protractor had actually pierced a hole through the paper and as I looked though the tiny hole I was inspired to turn the entire Mandala into somewhat of an eye, so I drew a pupil in the middle. I then chose to work with colored pencil and fill the rest of the page with colors. I used a brown color in the middle to go along with the eye theme, but then I decided to make the entry more intricate and drew squiggly lines in the next circle, followed by a complex kaleidoscope pattern. I wanted to progressively return the patterns back to a simpler and calmer design, and ended up with a yellow star near the outer edge, almost looking as if it is the setting in which the eye had been mounted, like a stone in a ring. For me, this gave the Mandala a very stable feeling, I feel as though without it, the image may begin to swirl. I also chose to set the Mandala into a softly swirling background.
