Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants By Marc Prensky
Americans are known to reflect on East Asian education systems, then compare those systems to the
education system here in the United States. When doing so, people tend to come to the same
general conclusion: there are intensifying problems within the American education system. Marc
Prensky, the author of DigitalNatives, Digital Immigrants, argues that the real issue with educating
today s youth is that our educationsystem s design does not accommodate today s students since
they are not the same as the students who molded our education system years and years ago. Today
s students are referred to as digital natives and their educators are referred to as digital immigrants.
Delivered through Prensky s syntax/diction and his overall audacious... Show more content on

Prensky s strategy of doing just that with his own bold, personal technique is what thrusts his
argument. If he did not utilize syntax in the way that he did, his argument would have come off
plain and uniform. And without his personal diction, the tone of the article would have been dry.
Finally, Prensky s strong metaphor added depth to his argument, while getting the reader to think
should we accommodate them, or should they accommodate us? Using such a prominent metaphor
raises the eyebrows of Digital Immigrants, but also gets them to listen. In sum, Prensky drew
predominantly on pathos with his use of strategic shaming, but also touched on ethos when
categorizing himself within the very group that he shamed, and finally using logos with his overall
us or them metaphor. All in all, without his bold rhetorical strategy, the same message would have
been said, but with a less convincing delivery style, and the argument would not have been as
effective. Prensky s additions are what pushed his argument right where it needed to be in order to
give it the best chance of convincing the educators of older generations to accommodate the
learning needs of the students of newer

Hnau In Malacandra
There are three different species of hnau (sentient beings who function like humans in society) on
Malacandra: hross, sorn, and pfifltriggi. They greatly differ when it comes to appearance,
personality, and giftings, but each of them reflect different attributes. The hrossa are the most
humanoid. Ransom states that a hross looks like ...a man seven feet high, with a snaky body,
covered, face and all, with thick black animal hair, and whiskered like a cat...glossy coat, liquid
eye, sweet breath and whitest teeth and added to all these, as though Paradise had never been lost

The American Political Party System
The American political party system before being dominated by a two political party system had
multiple parties that were formed on different ideologies and principles. A political party
essentially refers to a group of voters who are organized in a way to support particular public
policies, as such, the primary objective of political parties is usually to put official representatives
who will represent and carry out the policies of the party in power through an electoral process.
Political parties differ in ideologies on national aspects such as education, security, human rights,
agriculture, and much more and as such, citizens of a country usually vote for the candidates that

Health Plan For Increase Expenditure
There are a number of products and initiatives being used by health plans to control expenditures
and maintain market competitiveness. Recent slowing in health expenditures has largely been due
to price changes, a shift from inpatient to outpatient care, and increased coverage. However, here I
will focus on operational changes within the healthplan that can be made to decrease expenditures. I
will discuss how investing in disease management programs, wellness incentives, and value based
insurance design now can be used to control rising healthcare expenditures in the future while
adding value for consumers. I will also discuss the challenges involved with implementing these
initiatives.
Disease Management Programs:
Background
A small portion of the patient population accounts for a disproportionate amount of health care
expenditures primarily due to chronic illness (Shelton, 2002). Because of this, and the overall rise
in healthcare costs, stakeholders have been searching for ways to target this small but expensive
group of people. One way is through disease management programs. It is a common belief that
education and preventive measures make it easier to manage chronic illness and reduce adverse
outcomes including lengthy hospitalizations (Shelton, 2002). Although these programs are fairly
new and there isn t much data to support or refute their success, this is an area worth exploring to
potentially curve skyrocketing healthcare expenditures.

Paddock s Art Analysis
Paddock is known for many different art media fields such as sculptor, graphic design, and
furniture designer. I was inspired, however, by his paintings and knew of him through those as
well. I chose to recreate one of Ewing Paddock s paintings from the London Underground series.
I was inspired by his works because each of them are unique and diverse. Paddock s paintings also
interested me because they were all recently painted. He started the London Underground series in
2009 and it took him three years to complete 25 canvases, paintingaround 70 people. In each of his
paintings you can see the emotion that the person is giving off which is one reason I enjoy them.

Adversity In Purple Hibiscus
According to child abuse more the 3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States. In
the story Kambili was getting abused by her dad and she was just putting up with it. In Purple
Hibiscus Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie brought to our attention that Kambili Jaja was getting
abused. Kambili and Jaja experienced child abuse throughout the story. The Roman poet Horace
once wrote, adversity has the effect on eliciting talents which prosperous circumstances would have
lain dormant . In Purple Hibiscus, Adichie utilizes the charter Kambili to prove this idea to be
strong, but when her father around it s a different story.
In the beginning of purple hibiscus ,Kambili adversities do elicit talents she never knew she had

The Danger Of A Single Story Essay
Watching the TED talk that Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie gave on The Danger of a Single Story
was powerful. A single story has insufficient primary sources to have the full comprehension of
the real story. Seeing Adichie verbalize issues that I have discovered in myself allowed me to
reflect deeply regarding my perception of others. Adichie spoke on how her childhood was
filled with English stories and how she gained a perspective on their culture through books.
Books are truly powerful storytellers and is often forgotten about in a society where books are
taken for granite. A book in another one of my classes was based on Adichie s idea of how
English stories only told one side of the story; this book explored the lives an Igbo society and how
English stories portrayed them differently than who they actually were. This proved that I am not
alone in making a single story, furthermore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to be impartial. After learning the concept of a single story, I can now be thoughtful when trying to

learn about the students she/he will be around. Understanding the students past will allow for an
open and unique relationship, creating a welcoming environment. Learning about those in the
residence halls will allow for better interpersonal communication. Taking the concept of a single

The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay
In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events
surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic
children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left
open to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghoststory to a tale of
manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings
from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that
the apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. When reading the
novella with this interpretation, it should also be seen in a satirical manner,... Show more content on

Quint is described as being dressed in somebody s clothes. They re smart, but they re not his
own. This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the
Uncle who is at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat
of an alter ego with the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The
doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen
in the place of the spirits. For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the
window, she duplicates his behavior and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When
Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the
same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both
women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological
fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her
actions. After all, Mrs. Jessel s association with the valet clearly knocked her down a few steps,
showing how low the current Governess and other Bly residents holds her in their

The Reprimand Essay
Sympathy in The Reprimand Sympathy is an extension of empathic concern, or the perception,
understanding, and reaction to the distress or need of another human being. Sympathy must be
given and received in order for the world to operate because all humans make mistakes that impact
other people s lives. The Reprimand is a short phone play written by Jane Anderson in 2000. The
two characters, Rhona and Mim, have a confrontation about what Rhona believes to be an
inappropriate remark during a meeting. In The Reprimand, Mim deserves the most sympathyfrom
the audiencebecause Rhona intentionally manipulates her into believing she is not respected by her
male co workers. Mim deserves the most sympathy because Rhona tells her that she... Show more

This single comment by Mim lets everyone know that she really is hurt by the situation. In any
situation, the audience will give sympathy to the character who is degraded by the other
characters just like Mim is degraded by Rhona. Rhona does not deserve the sympathy of the
audience because she did not handle the situation in a professional manner. She is too forceful
and degrading to Mim when she confronts her about Mim s comment. Rhona says, but you didn
t say better, you said bigger (Anderson 1783). She corrects what Mim meant by her comment to
make her sound like she was trying to be mean, when she actually was trying to do something
nice for her because it was Rhona s project. She was implying that Rhona deserved the big chair
because it was her project and she would most likely be leading the meeting with the other
employees. This act of kindness and respect is turned around to be mean and disrespectful by
Rhona. Rhona says, Honey, there was a reason why Dick and Danny asked you all the follow up
questions (Anderson 1784). Rhona is implying to Mim that she took the attention away from her
even though she is the one who is in charge of the project. Sympathy should not be given to Rhona
because she comes across as a selfish woman who just wants to be the center of attention. Most
people do not appreciate this type of personality. One last meaningful thing that Rhona

Girl By Jamaica Kincaid
Mothers nag us with chores and tell us to straighten up when we mess up, but mothers always
know best and do everything out of love for their children. The short story Girl by Jamaica Kincaid
demonstrates this in a list of instructions a mother gives to her daughter to help her live a successful
life. Directions that are listed involve food, clothes, social skills, health, and protection of public
image. Together these tasks assist in characterizing the motherand daughter. In Girl, Jamaica
Kincaid employs characterization through the characters actions, conflict, and dialogue to reveal
the mother s tough loveand the daughter s immaturity. At first, Kincaid s story seems to be an

the slut you are so bent on becoming Secondly, when teaching her daughter how to dress, the
mother shows how to hem a dress to prevent yourself from looking like the slut I know you are so
bent on becoming (Kincaid #). Both times the mother refers to her daughter s desire to become a
slut, Kincaid exposes the daughter s immaturity and misunderstanding of social norms. In the
daughter s youth, she does not understand how to dress and act in pubic, so the mother reprimands
her by identifying the bad behavior and provides instruction for the proper way to act. Although the
mother s instructions are very clear, the daughter still becomes a slut. Later, the mother instructs
this is how to behave in the presence of men who don t know you very well, and this way they won
t recognize immediately the slut I have warned you against becoming revealing the daughter, at this
point in the story, has become a slut (Kincaid #). The daughter s direct defiance of her mother s
instructions shows her lack of respect and immaturity. Even though the daughter has gone against
her mother, the mothers love for her daughter is still apparent by the help she continues to provide.
Through the conflict between the mother and daughter, Kincaid portrays the daughter s defiance

Theme Of Disguises In King Lear
People put a large amount of effort into appearing a certain way. Many try to look wealthier than
they seem or try to act more intelligent than they are. These pictures that people hold up in front
of themselves are disguises, and in the case of King Lear, characters use these disguises to create
illusions of power, love and as a way to protect themselves. However, not only does the appearance
of a particular person deceive, but also the eyes of the person watching them. In King Lear,
Shakespeare employs the motif of eyes and sight to emphasize how appearances deceive and cannot
be trusted.
In the first scene Regan and Goneril deceive King Lear with their words, flattering him in order
to obtain more land. By lying to Lear about their love and devotion to him, Regan and Goneril
believe that he will reward them. However, as the sisters later portray, they have no love for their
father, but are only driven by their greed. Because they lust after power, and Lear had the most
authority before he split his kingdom, they begin to strip away what little influence and control he
had left. Edmund was another character who deceives his father by what he says. He tricks his
father, the Earl of Gloucester, into believing that his legitimate brother, Edgar was plotting to
overthrow him and take control of all that Gloucester owned. Through his soliloquy, Edmund
tells of his jealousy toward Edgar, and he plots the downfall of his brother because he wants
power, and because he wants to have all the privileges of a legitimate heir. First questioning,
Why brand they us? (1.2. 9) because he believes that bastards are stronger, more motivated
because the love that conceives them is truer, and they contain, More composition and fierce
quality. (1.2. 12).while Edgar was the result of a dull, stale, tired bed. (1.2. 13). Unlike the sisters
and Edmund, the Earl of Kent changes his appearance out of duty to the King. He is Lear s ally, a
close confidant and completely loyal to the King. When Lear banished him, Kent returns, wishing
to still serve the King, but must do so disguised as the servant, Caius. Disguising himself strips him
of his power and authority, and he assumes the role of an impoverished man helping Lear. In

What Is Formative And Summative Assessment
Introduction
Assessment can be the engine of curriculum reform, or the principal impediment to its
implementation (Mary Barnes, 2000) is a thought which is of great debate in the Republic of
Ireland today. Education and curriculum are constantly evolving and often assessment gets left
behind. The relationship between student learning and an effective curriculum lies in the power of
the assessment. One cannot thrive without the other, and one cannot be entirely effective unless the
other is equally as effective.
In this assignment I will explore the types of assessment, particularly formative and summative
assessment which are used worldwide in the classroom. As well as the history of assessment in
Ireland, the newest junior cycle programme and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that formative assessment is effective in all educational settings (Paul Black,
1998).One major difference between formative assessment and summative assessment is the way in
which formative assessment uses student involvement as an integral pillar. Without student
involvement in the assessment process, formative assessment is not reaching its full potential.
Many research papers have shown that student motivation is dramatically increased when students
are involved in both their own learning and in the learning of others (Pintrich de Groot,
1990).Teachers, however, do not have a sit back role in formative assessment. They are still crucial
to the proper use of this assessment by ways of designing appropriate assessment tasks, identifying
attainable learning goals and outlining clear criteria for student success. One key factor in
formative assessment is the return of feedback to students. Many studies have shown that
substantial learning gains are the outcome of an effective and frequent feedback process from
teacher to student (Wiliam,

The Effects Of Illegal Immigrants On The United States
There are millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, as Markon (2016) argues that the
majority are from South and Central America, Europe, and Mexico. They form a population of
between 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. One of these
illegal is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts
that he got in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren t jobs

James (1991) points out that illegal made various effects to be legal, such as creating fake
documents like Social Security or green cards, and faking marriage. All those affairs are called
fraud, and they can be deported directly without any opportunity to get a trial. Anti immigration
supports comment that the problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law
has become the norm. (Miller, 2010).
Another reason why people support deportation is because some illegals come as criminals and
cross the border to damage the country. According to James (1991) says some of illegals cross
the border to bring drugs like cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, or do illicit things. The drugs,
which a lot of Americans consume, come from South America to Mexico. Where a drug dealer
produces, then and sends them to the U.S.A. In the 1990 s the maximum portion of the drugs
came from Mexico, where drug traffickers passed the drugs through the river that is between
Mexico and the U.S.A (James, 1991). These acts have created the increase of crime and violence
and have made it unsafe peacefully to live for the citizens and for the life of the members of the
Border Patrol by illegal border crossers (James, 1991).
However, not all undocumented immigrants cause a harmful effect and

Carbon Monoxide Research Paper
In Superior Wisconsin, the CO alarm of a neighbor could have saved two people over the holiday
season. Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, and they had
to be taken to the Superior hospital, where they had been listed as stable. When firefighters
responded to the call about carbon monoxide, they learned of the deadly carbon monoxide levels
inside the apartment building located on the 1500 block of Broadway.
During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. Around five parts per
million within the hallway of the apartment, but one apartment on the first floor had excess levels
that reached above 70 ppm. During further investigation, firefighters discovered that a
malfunctioning furnace was the culprit for the higher levels of CO. To make matters worse, the

Essay about Eczema
Eczema
WHAT IS ECZEMA?
Eczema is a category of skin disease that is characterized by inflammation, itching, dry scaly skin,
and in severe cases, small fluid filled blisters and insomnia. It is the most common skin disease in
children today.
Mild cases of Eczema are a little worse than a tendency toward dry, itching skin.
Severe cases can effect the whole body, can be intensely itchy, uncomfortable, and even have an
effect on the person in a psychological manner due to self consciousness. Eczema sufferers have
acute flare ups or relapses of their chronic disease that can be annoying, itchy, and very
uncomfortable.

WHAT CAUSES ECZEMA TO FLARE UP?
There are many things that can trigger or worsen cases of eczema. The number one cause of
eczema flare ups is emotional stress. Anger, frustration, anxiety, family hostility, rejection, and
guilt can complicate the problem of eczema. Irritants such as soaps, solvents, and laundry
detergent can provoke it also. The only way to keep irritants from triggering eczema is to avoid
them by using substitutes like a non soap cleaning agent. Allergens in food and the air can also
cause eczema to flare up. Dietary management and air purifiers can help keep allergens under
control. Infections of both a viral and bacterial nature can cause eczema to relapse. When the
immune system is weak from illness, eczema sufferers are more prone to break outs of greater
seriousness and discomfort. WHAT ARE SOME COMMON TYPES OF ECZEMA?
There are many forms of eczema. Some forms are not specific and cannot be clearly categorized

Next, according to Hand and Middleditch (2013:194), imagery is an significent element in

The existing color of Gower Bird Hospital is green which show the central theme of Gower Bird
Hospita, protecting environment and the harmony between human and nature. Green is a very
down to earth color which represent new beginnings and growth. It also represent renewal and
abundance. Brighter greens are more energizing and vibrant, while olive greens are more
representative of the natural world (Chapman, 2010). Therefore, the olive green will be the
main colour of most design. Light blues are often relaxed and calming while bright blues can be
energizing and refreshing. Dark blues can be used in corporate sites or designs where strength
and reliability are significant (Chapman, 2010). Therefore, blue also will be used in website
design, which can match the theme of Hospital. What s more, according to the Complementary
color scheme, the high contrast of complementary colors can give audiences a vibrant look
(Tigercolor, 2014). Red and green are complementary colors. In design, red can be a great color to
use when power or passion want to be expressed in the design (Chapman, 2010). Therefore, red can
be used in some important part of our visual design which can draw more attention.
In addition, the colour model in digital media is different from printing. All of those digital media
need to use RGB mode in the design process while the design of newsletter need to use CMYK

Benefits Of Supply Induced Demand
The graph below is an illustration of Reinhardt fee test that argues that supply induced demand
is identified when despite an increase in supply (S1 to S2), demand increases sufficiently (D1 to
D3) cause price rise (P1 to P3). Had there been no supply induced demand, an increase in supply
would have resulted in lowering of price (P1 to P2). As can be predicted, not only does this
method raise costs and threatens long term sustainability of the healthcare system, it discourages
the efficiencies of integrated care. Any referral to another health professional equates to loss of
income for the doctors and reduces the quality of healthcare. As figure 1 shows, despite having
one of the highest healthcare expenditures per capita, Canada ranks 10th out of 11 developed
countries in terms of quality of its healthcare system. Canada being one of the largest countries in
the world, faces a unique challenge of geographic distribution of doctors. The remote and rural
areas have low population density and because the FFS mechanism relies on volume of patients
that a doctor attends to, it influences their distribution with a higher number settled in high density
areas. The disadvantages of the FFS payment model coupled with poor performance of the
Canadian healthcare system compared to its global counterparts does necessitate a call to address
the payment model to reimburse doctors. Not only will this help to improve the quality but also
help contain costs and enable viability of the

Compare and Contrast Essay of Rikki Tikki Tavi
Many people assume that the book and movie of the same story are always very similar, but they
are incorrect. In my comparison of the short story Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the
movie of Rikki tikki tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences,
but the three main topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the
setting, the character traits, and the use of humor. The setting in the movie differs from the setting
in the short story in a few ways. The setting in the movie dives into larger detail in many of the
scenes such as in the beginning flood scene. The flood scene setting in the movie reveals an eerie,
strong, storm with a flood that resembles a river and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very beginning, the character traits in the movie differ from those portrayed in the
short story. The ways in which they differ include the various switched roles of characters and
other aspects including age and clothing. One of the switched roles is right in the beginning of
the movie when the father lifts up Rikki from the sand, whereas in the short story the mother
picks him up. Another switched role would be when Darzee s wife explains what happened to
their baby egg that was eaten by Nag, but in the short story Darzee does the explaining. One last
switched role I came across was how Nag is the instigator who wanted to take over the garden, but
in the story it is Nagaina. Some other differences include the age of Teddy and the clothing of the
family. In the short story, Rudyard Kiplingcreates Teddy as a young toddler, using words such as
nursery to describe the room where he sleeps, but in the movie Teddy appears to be almost ten
years old with his fancy clothing and tall height. Surprisingly, the family in the movie wears very
nice, neat clothing. This is surprising because of the way Rudyard Kipling describes the setting.
With sand, dirt, and a garden, you would presume that it would be a humid climate, which would
result in the wearing of sandals and shorts. However, in the movie

Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) is common in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can be
an unbearable condition that affects several women. By the end of the first trimester 60% of
cases resolve, with 91% settling by 20 weeks of gestation. (Herrell, H. E.2014). Hyperemesis

Both men and women can feel anxiety of parenthood and when woman are having symptoms of
NVP this can result in absent work time, incomplete daily routines, managing to see friends or
family and caring for other children in the home. Pregnant women can be left feeling exhausted
and unhappy, this can then have some negative effects on family relationships, and some
couples connections can feel strained. If the woman is working she may also need to tell her
employer about the pregnancy, this may possibly be earlier then the women would have liked
too. Generally this can be hard for some women. Asking for help is also difficult as a result of
this women can become stressed, which can lead to sleep deprivation. Nausea can become worse
if women are not getting adequate time for rest. Whilst women feel unwell they may experience
some weight loss, this is not uncommon especially if women can not keep any food or fluids
down. Weight gain will increase once the women can eat normally again, if women feel unsettled
about weight loss they can talk to a dietitian who may suggest specific supplements.
It is unknown what the exact underlying pathophysiology of NVP is but it s believed to be
multifactorial and includes endocrine, gastrointestinal, cultural, psychosocial and environmental
factors. Reduced gastric esophageal pressure and delayed gastric emptying due to the effects of the

Synthesis Essay On Blue
A Mixture of Blue and Green: Turquoise
Turquoise: a simple adjective describing something of a greenish blue pigment. The absolutely
normal color has much more meaning behind itself than what meets the eye. The hybrid color of
blue and green serves as a representation of myself. Symbolically, blue inhabits the peaceful and
tranquil side to turquoise. Green, the envious and diplomatic side to turquoise. By themselves blue
nor green represent me, but as a blend of the two colors my image is represented justly. As blue
and green mix to form turquoise they balance each other out to display an exceptional
representation of myself. Blue: an adjective representative of something of a cool and calming
display. According to psychology, blue acts as the friendly and genuine color. Blue describes my
more reserved and peaceful half. Blue can also be advertised as an authoritative color, but at the
same time, honest and sincere. Much like myself, I may have an authoritative opinion, but I
always try to react truthful towards the situation and sincere of my position. Contrary to the edgier
side of blue, it can serve as a display of reservedness and reliability. Blue can abide in comparison

Advertising Against Draftkings And One Issue Against Fanduel
For me when I watch sports (which is almost on a daily biases) it doesn t take very long to see an
advertisement for a fantasy gambling website such as Draftkings.com and FanDuel.com. Both of
these companies have had issues recently with their advertising. Recently there have been two
issues of false advertisingagainst Draftkings and one issue against FanDuel. The first issue of false
advertising against Draftkings actually came from FanDuel. On March 13th an article was
published by FORBES detailing how FanDuel s lawyers were preparing a letter to send to
Draftkings explaining how they thought that the advertisements were not legal and why they
should be taken down. If they refused FanDuel would begin filing a lawsuit. The issue resided in
Draftkings advertising that they were Draftkings claiming they had the largest weekly cash pools,
and claiming to be the #1 destination for daily fantasy sports on the internet, while FanDuel
believed that they had the numbers to prove that Draftkings was wrong (Major Storm).
Due to the issues that FanDuel raised Draftkings was forced to change the way they marketed.
Draftkings resolved the issues before FanDuel took them to court. They no longer claim to have
the largest prize pool, simply because the amount of the prize pools changed everyday and it was
to difficult for the company to keep up if they were actually the largest any given day. They have

Worldview Of The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita looks at the purpose of life in their own unique way. Cycles of human life
can be perceived on varying levels, dependent on your religion and beliefs. When considering the
Hindu beliefs, their worldviews can be described as the actions you enforce here on earth,
motivated by either desire or duty. When living in a world dominated by personal inclinations, it is
easy to fall into the temptations of selfish desire. Krishnaradiates his concerns of exactly this in the
form of apprehension, keeping his people s best interests in mind. Due to the Hindubelief of
reincarnation, the pressures of enforcing your actions through duty, not desire, is essential to
restoring your karma . Regardless the worldview each religion holds, I understand that everyone s
common goal is joy in some form. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna establishes the worldview of
Hinduism, while allowing for explanation of worldly desire and the cycle of life.
Each religion provides a quite hopeful ambiance. Hinduism in particular, allows for a guideline to
all who will listen about eternal hope. Every being is faced with the choice of action, either by
duty or desire. Krishna is yearning to voice to humanity that if our actions are inclined by any form
of desire, it will cloud our understanding and only result in deeper, endless indulgences. This
temptation of earthly desires can be controlled by the essence of self control, eventually leading to
tranquility and joy. Although humanly urges may

The Causes Of Natural Disasters

help make the worldsafe and its life in the world. I care about the destruction of these natural
disasters. There can be a buildingthat is one billion dollars that is just built, then it was destroyed
during a tornado or hurricane. The main point or question i m overall trying to cover is that why
don t we try to stop or predict and help fight the disasters in the world. We can help in a lot of
ways to help stop many things from dying or the destruction it causes.I think I can, I will stop this
by telling the world that we can help prevent these natural disasters by helping each other to help
predict and someday prevent them.
There are many reasons to help prevent or stop these natural disasters. These solutions are available
because of the fact that we have a lot more people than we need to help prevent or stop these natural
disasters. These solutions include building, donating, and in general stop doing stuff that is
dangerous during a natural disaster. One of these is building dams or walls to prevent tsunamis if the
wall is big and strong to prevent from these natural disasters from hitting.

Roman Emperor Theodosius
Theodosius I was a former military general who grew up as a well educated Christian in Spain.
When in the army, he served under his father, Theodosius the Elder. After his father was convicted
of treason and exiled, Theodosius retired to his native country until he was summoned by Gratian,
then a leader of the Western Empire, to become co augustus (co emperor) of the Eastern Roman
empire. Early into his rule, Theodosius faced many challenges that were threatening the empire.
He had no experience dealing with the Greek speaking areas of Rome. He had never even visited
the capital, Constantinople. The Goths were invading the northern borders, but the Roman army
was growing smaller and weaker and wasn t able to defend the empire. Romans were growing
dissatisfied with the condition of the empire and were losing morale. As an emperor, Theodosius

that benefitted both sides. This brought the war to an end and allowed Romans to live in peace for

Argumentative Essay On Year Round School
For decades, primary and secondary schools are stuck in tradition of having school for nine
months and having several long breaks including a two month summer break. Several states in the
United States and in Canada have been throwing around the idea of year round school. Some say
that year round schooling is a good thing for the children and others say that the children need a
break from school, but also have a higher chance of forgetting the material before they return to
school the following year. With year round school, its focusing more on the students educationand
not the convivence for parents and school board. With having year round schools, students will
be able to obtain more information and perform better in the classroom. The children will learn
more in the classroom along with learning outside on their own. In the article, Why does
education stop in summer by editor Sylvia Stead, it states that a lot can be forgotten in the space
of eight or 10 weeks . Given this information it causes schools to give a second thought to
changing to year round school. Year round schools have been proven to help children learn better
in the classroom and outside. It helps maintain the students learning process to be able to focus
more on helping them retain the information and keep it throughout the school year. Stead has
seen how the school year has been set up to only be nine months with a summer break and she is
now seeing the school year as year round. She grew up

Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven
In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash
lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment
amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately,
he could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise.
The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced
during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach,
Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory,
Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership.
Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate
qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a
first choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership
according to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be
only assessed by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by
research that questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no
consistent set of traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations.
(Nothhouse, 2016) (Stogdill, 1948)
Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics.
Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better
leader.
Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership)
depends on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is
knowledge about and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge
about and ability to work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and
concepts. (Northhouse, 2016) (Katz, 1955)
Considering the case of Mr. Spock; in my opinion Mr. Spock was very well equipped with both
Technical skills and Conceptual Skills which helped him to be a successful leader. However, he

Examples Of Miracles By Walt Whitman
For centuries, people have had differing opinions about miracles. Have any miracles ever really
happened? Or is everything a at the mercy of chance? Across all cultures, peoples, and time
periods, there have been stories of miracles. In the Isreali culture alone, there are stories of Moses
calling down plagues upon Egypt and parting the red sea to lead the people to freedom. Many
stories like this are told across cultures. And then there are the miraclesof Jesus, which spearheaded
the movement of Christianity across the world. Today, it is difficult to know whether or not miracle
have ever really happened. Whitman s poem, Miracles, seems to be in response to this very

The Impacts Of Thomas Jefferson And Alexander Hamilton
Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton both had significant impacts on the U.S. government,
but also had countless differences throughout their lives. Jefferson originated from one of the most
prominent families in Virginia with proper education at a young age, while Hamilton grew up in
the slums of St. Croix and received little formal education. As they entered the political world, they
sought plans to improve/make america great but their ideas clearly contradicted against one another.
Between the two Founding Fathers, I find Alexander Hamilton to be more trustworthy because he
constructed a stable foundation for America s economics and government that continues to be used
till this day. Thomas Jeffersonwas born into a notable family on April 13, 1743, in Shadwell,
Virginia. His mother, Jane Randolph Jefferson, was a member of the proud Randolph clan, a
family claiming descent from English and Scottish royalty. His father, Peter Jefferson, was a

All Three Books Demand Connection Not Only Because Essay
All three books demand connection not only because they are printed together, but also because
of their relevance to their respective stories as seen above. This distinction is important to make
because without it there is no need to question if they enhance or hinder the story. If each form
only resided beside the narratives because the author said so then they would simply be a
hindrance. Without this distinction, it would be justifiable to skip U.S.A. s various forms so that
readers could return to Mac s or Charley s adventure. Even though there are times when the
relevance of these forms comes into question, their overwhelming presence in the book, and the
clear relevance shown above, mean they cannot be skipped over. Nonetheless, there is a reason
for finding the various forms to be a nuisance. Is this my intro???After proving the necessity of the
various forms to keep the books whole, it will be necessary to use that information and determine
if their presence enhances each book as well or if they end up hindering the books.
The relevance of the various forms within all three of these books becomes obvious at different
times. Dos Passos U.S.A. usage of various forms is the clearest cut of the three books. Since each
book is labeled as a novel in the trilogy there is no need to question the inclusion of the newsreels
and camera eyes; at least, there is no need to question if their purpose in the book is to serve the
novel as a whole or as to exists as separated parts

of a Japanese woman who is named Hana. She marries Taro who is a Japanese man who lives in
America. One of the important themes of this book is reality does not always match the
expectation. In order to develop this theme, Uchida uses the literary and rhetorical devices of
juxtaposition, rhetorical question, and perspective. Uchida introduces the theme through the usage
of juxtaposition. As you can see, before Hana marries with Taro, she imagines her life in America.
Also, Hana have a conversation about American life with her new friend, Kiku. Kiku says that

Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s Essay
Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s
In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has
changed since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to
differentiate between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were
about youth, creativity, free thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the
popularity of anything ?retro, I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that
defined pop culture in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s.
In the 1960?s, society was changing by the minute and fashion was ?anything goes?. In the early

As fashion in the 60?s influenced fashion in the 90?s, the spirit of music in the 60?s is present in
the music of the 90?s. Many of the artists popular in the sixties are still major forces in music today.
There is no one genre of music that can define either decade. After the appearance of the Beatles
and the British invasion in the early sixties, music changed and everything before it was all but
swept away. There was surf music from the Beach Boys; folk music from Bob Dylan; R B
influenced music from Motown and the Rolling Stones; and psychedelic music from Jefferson
Airplane and the Doors. In the nineties, many new types of music evolved. These include rap music
and hip hop which came from urban dissatisfaction and unrest, while underground alternative rock
became mainstream. In 1969, the Woodstock music festival embodied the spirit of peace and love.
It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring
the essence of the original Woodstock.
Racial tensions, civil rights disturbances, and deeply divided opinions over the American
presence in the Vietnam war, all served to give the sixties a radical edge. People were passionate
about what they believed in and were willing to give their lives, if necessary, to the cause. Young
people became increasingly opposed to the Vietnam war and had a tendency to express their
opinions more violently than Martin Luther King,

Explain The Three Steps Of Occupational Therapy Intervention
The intervention focuses on programs that are people oriented and environmental. These are
designed to facilitate the performance of everyday tasks and adaption of settings in which the
person work, live, and socializes. Example teaching new techniques and providing equipment which
facilitate independence. It also reduces environmental barriers and providing resources. The three
steps of the treatment interventionprocess include intervention plan, implementation, and
intervention review. The intervention plan directs the action of the occupational therapist and
occupational therapy assistant. The intervention is developed collaboratively with the client and is
based on the client s goals and priorities. Depending on whether the client is a... Show more content

It may also focus on a single aspect of the domain, such as a specific performance pattern, or several
aspects of the domain such as performing skills, and context. Intervention implementation includes
the following steps determining and carrying out the type of occupational therapy intervention,
therapeutic use of self, monitoring the client s response to intervention based ongoing assessment
and reassessment of the clients progress towards his or her goals. Assessment includes the use of
standardized procedures, interviews, observations in a variety of settings and consultation with
significant person in the person life. The results of the assessment are the basis of the plan which
includes short and long term aim of treatments. When planning interventions, the occupational
therapy has the overall responsibility for intervention implementation, but the occupational therapy
practitioner is responsible for collaborating with the occupational therapy, the client, and any family

Symbolism In Christmas Carol
Did you know that symbols are all around us?
Symbolism is when we use an image or thing to represent another idea. It is very important in the
play A Christmas Carol and is used every day. In the play they use the three ghost as symbolism
for example the ghost of Christmas past symbolised a kind of happy character because she is
dressed in light colors and she shows him his past which made him happy and cries tears of joy, the
ghost of Christmas future represents darkness because he shows all the bad things that are about to
happen if he does not change and one of them is he shows Scrooge his grave!! Another symbolism
is sadness because the ghost of Christmas present shows Scrooge how his worker is poor and his
son could die soon.Happiness symbolized by the ghost of Christmas past, darkness symbolized by
the ghost of Christmas future, sadness symbolized b ghost of Christmas present. Symbolism in A
Christmas Carol is important because they represent happiness, darkness, sadness and some
symbolism and this is why.
Happiness is one important part of this story wanna know why? The ghost of Christmas past is a
symbolism of happiness and there are lots of reasons why. In the story A Christmas Carol the
ghost of Christmas past shows Scrooge his past Christmases. The ghost brought him back to
when he was sitting alone on Christmas reading a book and he could not leave and it showed
how he use to love books and how he use to act out as if he was in the book when he was reading
like he pretended he was fighting off pirates and defending a map. The ghost of Christmas past
brings also brings him back to when his sister comes and visits him and tells him his father
would like him back and that made him very happy to hear, also his teacher of his school gives
him a notebook to write in and that ended up being a very important book to him. It had become
an important book to him because he started a new business and he wrote a lot of the stuff for
his business in the book that his teacher had given him. She brought him back to the time when
his new business opened up and everyone had been so happy and they all danced and had a big
happy party and also that was a happy time for Scrooge because she shows when he met

The Factors Influencing The Adoption Of The United States
In your own words, describe some of the factors that contributed to the adoption of the .05 level
of statistical significance (see Kazdin, Chapter 16). One factor was Fisher referring to it in his
1925 book. Cowels and Davis (2016) stated that this may have been the first time the .05 level
was referred to as statistical significance. Therefore, this may have been the most important
contribution for the universal adoption of the .05 level, specifically. That being said, there were
multiple contributions by previous researchers who also deserve credit for the evolution of
statistical significance at the .05 level. Therefore, Fisher cannot be credited as the sole inventor
of this concept. He can be credited as the first individual who recorded the .05 level and starting
a trend that is universally practiced today. Another factor was the development of the law of
frequency errors. In the 17th century, Huygens published work about reasoning strategies for dice
games and other games of chance. A subsequent publication from De Moivre was published into
three editions during the 18th century. De Moivre s works were said to be highly influential to
the scientific field since it generated the bell shaped curve (Cowels Davis, 2016). Soon thereafter,
Laplace and Gauss applied distribution principles, previously used for gambling, to the scientific
field. The development of the law of frequency errors and then the transfer to the scientific field
can be credited, then, as a

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Rheumatic Fever
1. What is causing this murmur?
In the case of Martha, she had an episode of rheumatic fever in her twenties. Rheumatic fever, of
which is an illness brought on by Streptococcus A, produces a protein that attaches to the cell wall
of an organism causing inflammation. This can affect the heart and cause pancarditis, which is an
infection of the entire heart. Endocarditis is the portion of pancarditis that causes valvular
disorders. Though the pulmonic valve is not commonly affected, it is still a possibility. The
valve apparatus can become fused leading to stenosis years after a rheumatic fever episode that
is acute, and damage can become progressive if there are subsequent episodes (Chin, 2014). With
Martha s murmur being low in pitch and more of a rumbling, it is considered a narrowing of the
valve or stenosis. The murmur is located left of the sternal border and in the upper portion. This is
the pulmonic valve region, which would make this a pulmonic valve stenosis (Rao, 2014).
According to Rao (2014), the murmur is due to the leaflets of the pulmonic valve not completely
opening. This causes a resistance of the blood flowing foward through the valve, which happens
during systole of the ventricles. This further causes a turbulence of the blood and makes the sound
of the murmur. Pulmonic valve stenosis can then lead to ventricular hypertrophy of the right
ventricle, which is proportional to how obstructed the valve becomes (Rao, 2014).

I Attended The Temple College Vocal Point Concert
I attended the Temple College Vocal Point concert on November 1, 2016 at 12:30 pm in the
Jackson Graeter Backstage Theatre. The Theatre, located in the Mary Alice Marshal Performing
Arts Center, at Temple College is small, seating approximately 100 people. Since the setting is
quaint, it makes for a personal experience, allowing the audience to truly see and hear the
entertainers character. The stage size also has a downside, at times the actors would trip over
each other while dancing. The Vocal Point concert titled From Rent to Now: The last 20 Years of
Broadway: is directed by Dr. Sara Baker. This Contemporary Broadway show consists of sixteen
characters. It is a spoof on musicals. The opening scene played by Trey Shonkwiler and Konnor
Widmann was funny, and catchy. They sang A Musical from Something Rotten! Shonkwiler is a
Tenor, while Widmann is a Baritone. Together they made beautiful harmonies, they complimented
each other vocally, and as actors very well. The next song Mama Who Bore Me from Spring
Awakening was sung by all the women, with a soloist. Kristen Garth has a lovely altovoice, her
performance was unconfident, and a bit nervous, she had a few notes that were flat, overall it was
nice. There were a few moments where the background singers were too loud, overpowering the
soloist. When He Sees Me, from Waitress, sung by Kris Glorsorio was wonderful. She has a
beautiful Alto/ Mezzo voice. She connected wholly with her character, I thought the balance of head

  • 2. Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants By Marc Prensky Americans are known to reflect on East Asian education systems, then compare those systems to the education system here in the United States. When doing so, people tend to come to the same general conclusion: there are intensifying problems within the American education system. Marc Prensky, the author of DigitalNatives, Digital Immigrants, argues that the real issue with educating today s youth is that our educationsystem s design does not accommodate today s students since they are not the same as the students who molded our education system years and years ago. Today s students are referred to as digital natives and their educators are referred to as digital immigrants. Delivered through Prensky s syntax/diction and his overall audacious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prensky s strategy of doing just that with his own bold, personal technique is what thrusts his argument. If he did not utilize syntax in the way that he did, his argument would have come off plain and uniform. And without his personal diction, the tone of the article would have been dry. Finally, Prensky s strong metaphor added depth to his argument, while getting the reader to think should we accommodate them, or should they accommodate us? Using such a prominent metaphor raises the eyebrows of Digital Immigrants, but also gets them to listen. In sum, Prensky drew predominantly on pathos with his use of strategic shaming, but also touched on ethos when categorizing himself within the very group that he shamed, and finally using logos with his overall us or them metaphor. All in all, without his bold rhetorical strategy, the same message would have been said, but with a less convincing delivery style, and the argument would not have been as effective. Prensky s additions are what pushed his argument right where it needed to be in order to give it the best chance of convincing the educators of older generations to accommodate the learning needs of the students of newer ... • 6. Health Plan For Increase Expenditure There are a number of products and initiatives being used by health plans to control expenditures and maintain market competitiveness. Recent slowing in health expenditures has largely been due to price changes, a shift from inpatient to outpatient care, and increased coverage. However, here I will focus on operational changes within the healthplan that can be made to decrease expenditures. I will discuss how investing in disease management programs, wellness incentives, and value based insurance design now can be used to control rising healthcare expenditures in the future while adding value for consumers. I will also discuss the challenges involved with implementing these initiatives. Disease Management Programs: Background A small portion of the patient population accounts for a disproportionate amount of health care expenditures primarily due to chronic illness (Shelton, 2002). Because of this, and the overall rise in healthcare costs, stakeholders have been searching for ways to target this small but expensive group of people. One way is through disease management programs. It is a common belief that education and preventive measures make it easier to manage chronic illness and reduce adverse outcomes including lengthy hospitalizations (Shelton, 2002). Although these programs are fairly new and there isn t much data to support or refute their success, this is an area worth exploring to potentially curve skyrocketing healthcare expenditures. A single story has insufficient primary sources to have the full comprehension of the real story. Seeing Adichie verbalize issues that I have discovered in myself allowed me to reflect deeply regarding my perception of others. Adichie spoke on how her childhood was filled with English stories and how she gained a perspective on their culture through books. Books are truly powerful storytellers and is often forgotten about in a society where books are taken for granite. A book in another one of my classes was based on Adichie s idea of how English stories only told one side of the story; this book explored the lives an Igbo society and how English stories portrayed them differently than who they actually were. • 10. The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left open to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghoststory to a tale of manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that the apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. When reading the novella with this interpretation, it should also be seen in a satirical manner,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quint is described as being dressed in somebody s clothes. They re smart, but they re not his own. This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the Uncle who is at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat of an alter ego with the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen in the place of the spirits. For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the window, she duplicates his behavior and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her actions. After all, Mrs. Jessel s association with the valet clearly knocked her down a few steps, showing how low the current Governess and other Bly residents holds her in their ... Sympathy must be given and received in order for the world to operate because all humans make mistakes that impact other people s lives. The Reprimand is a short phone play written by Jane Anderson in 2000. The two characters, Rhona and Mim, have a confrontation about what Rhona believes to be an inappropriate remark during a meeting. In any situation, the audience will give sympathy to the character who is degraded by the other characters just like Mim is degraded by Rhona. Rhona does not deserve the sympathy of the audience because she did not handle the situation in a professional manner. She is too forceful and degrading to Mim when she confronts her about Mim s comment. Rhona says, but you didn t say better, you said bigger (Anderson 1783). She corrects what Mim meant by her comment to make her sound like she was trying to be mean, when she actually was trying to do something nice for her because it was Rhona s project. She was implying that Rhona deserved the big chair because it was her project and she would most likely be leading the meeting with the other employees. This act of kindness and respect is turned around to be mean and disrespectful by Rhona. Rhona says, Honey, there was a reason why Dick and Danny asked you all the follow up questions (Anderson 1784). Rhona is implying to Mim that she took the attention away from her even though she is the one who is in charge of the project. Directions that are listed involve food, clothes, social skills, health, and protection of public image. Together these tasks assist in characterizing the motherand daughter. Both times the mother refers to her daughter s desire to become a slut, Kincaid exposes the daughter s immaturity and misunderstanding of social norms. • 14. Theme Of Disguises In King Lear People put a large amount of effort into appearing a certain way. Many try to look wealthier than they seem or try to act more intelligent than they are. These pictures that people hold up in front of themselves are disguises, and in the case of King Lear, characters use these disguises to create illusions of power, love and as a way to protect themselves. However, not only does the appearance of a particular person deceive, but also the eyes of the person watching them. In King Lear, Shakespeare employs the motif of eyes and sight to emphasize how appearances deceive and cannot be trusted. In the first scene Regan and Goneril deceive King Lear with their words, flattering him in order to obtain more land. By lying to Lear about their love and devotion to him, Regan and Goneril believe that he will reward them. However, as the sisters later portray, they have no love for their father, but are only driven by their greed. Because they lust after power, and Lear had the most authority before he split his kingdom, they begin to strip away what little influence and control he had left. Edmund was another character who deceives his father by what he says. He tricks his father, the Earl of Gloucester, into believing that his legitimate brother, Edgar was plotting to overthrow him and take control of all that Gloucester owned. Through his soliloquy, Edmund tells of his jealousy toward Edgar, and he plots the downfall of his brother because he wants power, and because he wants to have all the privileges of a legitimate heir. First questioning, Why brand they us? (1.2. 9) because he believes that bastards are stronger, more motivated because the love that conceives them is truer, and they contain, More composition and fierce quality. (1.2. 12).while Edgar was the result of a dull, stale, tired bed. (1.2. 13). Unlike the sisters and Edmund, the Earl of Kent changes his appearance out of duty to the King. He is Lear s ally, a close confidant and completely loyal to the King. When Lear banished him, Kent returns, wishing to still serve the King, but must do so disguised as the servant, Caius. Disguising himself strips him of his power and authority, and he assumes the role of an impoverished man helping Lear. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. What Is Formative And Summative Assessment Introduction Assessment can be the engine of curriculum reform, or the principal impediment to its implementation (Mary Barnes, 2000) is a thought which is of great debate in the Republic of Ireland today. Education and curriculum are constantly evolving and often assessment gets left behind. The relationship between student learning and an effective curriculum lies in the power of the assessment. One cannot thrive without the other, and one cannot be entirely effective unless the other is equally as effective. In this assignment I will explore the types of assessment, particularly formative and summative assessment which are used worldwide in the classroom. As well as the history of assessment in Ireland, the newest junior cycle programme and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research has shown that formative assessment is effective in all educational settings (Paul Black, 1998).One major difference between formative assessment and summative assessment is the way in which formative assessment uses student involvement as an integral pillar. Without student involvement in the assessment process, formative assessment is not reaching its full potential. Many research papers have shown that student motivation is dramatically increased when students are involved in both their own learning and in the learning of others (Pintrich de Groot, 1990).Teachers, however, do not have a sit back role in formative assessment. They are still crucial to the proper use of this assessment by ways of designing appropriate assessment tasks, identifying attainable learning goals and outlining clear criteria for student success. One key factor in formative assessment is the return of feedback to students. Many studies have shown that substantial learning gains are the outcome of an effective and frequent feedback process from teacher to student (Wiliam, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anti immigration supports comment that the problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law has become the norm. (Miller, 2010). Another reason why people support deportation is because some illegals come as criminals and cross the border to damage the country. Benefits Of Supply Induced Demand The graph below is an illustration of Reinhardt fee test that argues that supply induced demand is identified when despite an increase in supply (S1 to S2), demand increases sufficiently (D1 to D3) cause price rise (P1 to P3). Had there been no supply induced demand, an increase in supply would have resulted in lowering of price (P1 to P2). As can be predicted, not only does this method raise costs and threatens long term sustainability of the healthcare system, it discourages the efficiencies of integrated care. Any referral to another health professional equates to loss of income for the doctors and reduces the quality of healthcare. As figure 1 shows, despite having one of the highest healthcare expenditures per capita, Canada ranks 10th out of 11 developed countries in terms of quality of its healthcare system. Canada being one of the largest countries in the world, faces a unique challenge of geographic distribution of doctors. The remote and rural areas have low population density and because the FFS mechanism relies on volume of patients that a doctor attends to, it influences their distribution with a higher number settled in high density areas. The disadvantages of the FFS payment model coupled with poor performance of the Canadian healthcare system compared to its global counterparts does necessitate a call to address the payment model to reimburse doctors. Not only will this help to improve the quality but also help contain costs and enable viability of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my comparison of the short story Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling and the movie of Rikki tikki tavi, I found them to be rather different. There were many minor differences, but the three main topics in the short story that clearly differentiate it from the movie are the setting, the character traits, and the use of humor. The setting in the movie differs from the setting in the short story in a few ways. The setting in the movie dives into larger detail in many of the scenes such as in the beginning flood scene. From the very beginning, the character traits in the movie differ from those portrayed in the short story. The ways in which they differ include the various switched roles of characters and other aspects including age and clothing. One of the switched roles is right in the beginning of the movie when the father lifts up Rikki from the sand, whereas in the short story the mother picks him up. Another switched role would be when Darzee s wife explains what happened to their baby egg that was eaten by Nag, but in the short story Darzee does the explaining. One last switched role I came across was how Nag is the instigator who wanted to take over the garden, but in the story it is Nagaina. Some other differences include the age of Teddy and the clothing of the family. In the short story, Rudyard Kiplingcreates Teddy as a young toddler, using words such as nursery to describe the room where he sleeps, but in the movie Teddy appears to be almost ten years old with his fancy clothing and tall height. Surprisingly, the family in the movie wears very nice, neat clothing. This is surprising because of the way Rudyard Kipling describes the setting. With sand, dirt, and a garden, you would presume that it would be a humid climate, which would result in the wearing of sandals and shorts. However, in the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When living in a world dominated by personal inclinations, it is easy to fall into the temptations of selfish desire. • 33. Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately, he could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise. The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach, Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory, Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership. Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a first choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership according to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be only assessed by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by research that questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no consistent set of traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations. (Nothhouse, 2016) (Stogdill, 1948) Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics. Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better leader. Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership) depends on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is knowledge about and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge about and ability to work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. All Three Books Demand Connection Not Only Because Essay All three books demand connection not only because they are printed together, but also because of their relevance to their respective stories as seen above. This distinction is important to make because without it there is no need to question if they enhance or hinder the story. If each form only resided beside the narratives because the author said so then they would simply be a hindrance. Without this distinction, it would be justifiable to skip U.S.A. s various forms so that readers could return to Mac s or Charley s adventure. Symbolism in A Christmas Carol is important because they represent happiness, darkness, sadness and some symbolism and this is why. Happiness is one important part of this story wanna know why? The ghost of Christmas past is a symbolism of happiness and there are lots of reasons why. In the story A Christmas Carol the ghost of Christmas past shows Scrooge his past Christmases. The ghost brought him back to when he was sitting alone on Christmas reading a book and he could not leave and it showed how he use to love books and how he use to act out as if he was in the book when he was reading like he pretended he was fighting off pirates and defending a map. • 42. The Factors Influencing The Adoption Of The United States In your own words, describe some of the factors that contributed to the adoption of the .05 level of statistical significance (see Kazdin, Chapter 16). One factor was Fisher referring to it in his 1925 book. Cowels and Davis (2016) stated that this may have been the first time the .05 level was referred to as statistical significance. Therefore, this may have been the most important contribution for the universal adoption of the .05 level, specifically. That being said, there were multiple contributions by previous researchers who also deserve credit for the evolution of statistical significance at the .05 level. Therefore, Fisher cannot be credited as the sole inventor of this concept. He can be credited as the first individual who recorded the .05 level and starting a trend that is universally practiced today. Another factor was the development of the law of frequency errors. In the 17th century, Huygens published work about reasoning strategies for dice games and other games of chance. A subsequent publication from De Moivre was published into three editions during the 18th century. De Moivre s works were said to be highly influential to the scientific field since it generated the bell shaped curve (Cowels Davis, 2016). Soon thereafter, Laplace and Gauss applied distribution principles, previously used for gambling, to the scientific field. The development of the law of frequency errors and then the transfer to the scientific field can be credited, then, as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Rheumatic Fever 1. What is causing this murmur? In the case of Martha, she had an episode of rheumatic fever in her twenties. Rheumatic fever, of which is an illness brought on by Streptococcus A, produces a protein that attaches to the cell wall of an organism causing inflammation. This can affect the heart and cause pancarditis, which is an infection of the entire heart. Endocarditis is the portion of pancarditis that causes valvular disorders. Though the pulmonic valve is not commonly affected, it is still a possibility. The valve apparatus can become fused leading to stenosis years after a rheumatic fever episode that is acute, and damage can become progressive if there are subsequent episodes (Chin, 2014). With Martha s murmur being low in pitch and more of a rumbling, it is considered a narrowing of the valve or stenosis. The murmur is located left of the sternal border and in the upper portion. This is the pulmonic valve region, which would make this a pulmonic valve stenosis (Rao, 2014). According to Rao (2014), the murmur is due to the leaflets of the pulmonic valve not completely opening. This causes a resistance of the blood flowing foward through the valve, which happens during systole of the ventricles. This further causes a turbulence of the blood and makes the sound of the murmur. Pulmonic valve stenosis can then lead to ventricular hypertrophy of the right ventricle, which is proportional to how obstructed the valve becomes (Rao, 2014). 2. What is causing her S3 heart ... • 44. I Attended The Temple College Vocal Point Concert I attended the Temple College Vocal Point concert on November 1, 2016 at 12:30 pm in the Jackson Graeter Backstage Theatre. The Theatre, located in the Mary Alice Marshal Performing Arts Center, at Temple College is small, seating approximately 100 people. Since the setting is quaint, it makes for a personal experience, allowing the audience to truly see and hear the entertainers character. The stage size also has a downside, at times the actors would trip over each other while dancing. The Vocal Point concert titled From Rent to Now: The last 20 Years of Broadway: is directed by Dr. Sara Baker. This Contemporary Broadway show consists of sixteen characters. It is a spoof on musicals. The opening scene played by Trey Shonkwiler and Konnor Widmann was funny, and catchy. They sang A Musical from Something Rotten! Shonkwiler is a Tenor, while Widmann is a Baritone. Together they made beautiful harmonies, they complimented each other vocally, and as actors very well. The next song Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awakening was sung by all the women, with a soloist. Kristen Garth has a lovely altovoice, her performance was unconfident, and a bit nervous, she had a few notes that were flat, overall it was nice. There were a few moments where the background singers were too loud, overpowering the soloist. When He Sees Me, from Waitress, sung by Kris Glorsorio was wonderful. She has a beautiful Alto/ Mezzo voice. She connected wholly with her character, I thought the balance of head ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
