Comparing Thanksgiving And Christmas
Although Thanksgiving and Christmas are close in date, they are both celebrated for different
reasons. Thanksgiving is a day celebrated as giving thanks for blessings brought throughout the
year, it is also a time to celebrate the years harvest. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of
Christ. Even though the holidays share many similarities, they also hold differences such as
traditions, decorations, and the reason as to why we celebrate each. The first difference in these
holidays are the traditions. During Thanksgiving, food is a huge celebration! It is the celebration of
the harvest. This is the time that familyand friends gather to show how grateful they are for the
blessings that have been brought to them throughout the year. Christmasis known as the most
wonderful time of the year, because of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanksgiving is the celebration of harvest, we celebrate this day each year as a day to reflect on
blessings we have been given and for the great harvest throughout the year. Christmas is
celebration of the birth of Christ, although over the years it has became more of a holiday focused
around awaiting for Santa to arrive and leave gifts under the Christmas tree. The Christmas and
Thanksgiving holidays seem to have both lost their initial meaning throughout the years, we now
celebrate them in the ways we choose to rather than how they use to be celebrated. Thanksgiving
and Christmas are both heavily celebrated throughout, during the last couple of months of the year
it seem to be holidays back to back making everything seem joyful. Although the holidays are
close in date they are very different reasons for celebration. Some differences in Thanksgiving and
Christmas include traditions, decorations, and reasons that we celebrate. During these joyful time s
we tend to decorate and listen to music of these times as well as trying to remember our blessings

Question #3
a) What is life cycle costing? Under what circumstances can it be most useful? What are some
potential problems with this approach?
Life cycle costing is a cost based approach to setting prices where a firm explicitly takes into
consideration costs to be incurred throughout a product s entire life cycle. The life cycle can be
broken into three parts: pre production, production, and post production.
It can be most useful when a firm incurs significant pre production or post production costs in

Ergogenic Aids in Sports Essay
Ergogenic Aids in Sports
A large problem in sports today is the use of ergogenic aids. An ergogenic aid is any substance or
device that increases or enhances energy use, production, or recovery giving the athlete an
advantage in competition. Not all ergogenic aids are illegal; many such as dietary supplements,
vitamin supplements, or protein supplements are widely used and accepted, however, many are
illegal and are banned by many athletic committees(Ahrendt,1). I will be discussing these illegal
aids and the affect they have on the athlete and the athletic community. Some of the more
commonly used illegal aids include blood doping, caffeine, corticosteroids, diuretics, and human
growth hormones (HGH).
Blood doping is taking blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effectiveness of blood doping is unsure, researches don t know if it truly works. Some
reports state that the added RBC and hemoglobin increase the viscosity of the blood, which in
turn actually decreases the VO2 max(Goldman,50). The increase in viscosity can lead to an
overload of work in the liver and kidney, which could lead to future problems in the liver and
kidney (Shipe,77). Another precaution is if the blood that is injected does not come from the
person it is being injected into there is a possibility of getting a disease such as AIDS. Blood
doping is nearly impossible to discover in tests because the athlete is usually injecting their own
blood into their system. The increased hemoglobin and RBC in the body can be accredited to high
altitude workouts (working at high altitudes for extended amounts of time can increase hemoglobin
and RBC s). Even though it is near impossible to test for the Olympic Committee still bans its use
in hope to find a test.
Caffeine is a chemical found in the leaves, seeds, and fruit of over 60 species of plant. It is found in
coffee, tea, some soft drinks, and chocolate. It can also be taken as a tablet at high doses in
products such as No Doz or Vivarin (Donahue,33). It is banned as an ergogenic aid in large doses.
Caffeine is believed to increase endurance and alertness. An

Self-Medication In Wild Animals
Research indicates that wild animals utilise aspects of their natural environment to self medicate in
at least three ways. The use of rough plants as a type of intestinal scour is a prevalent technique for
the removal of internal parasites. Some animals also poison their internal parasites by ingesting
toxic plants found in their natural habitat. In addition, in order to neutralise toxins in the plants they
eat, some wild animals engage in geophageous behaviour.
A widespread method of self medication in wild animals is the use of abrasive plants to purge the
digestive system. Research conducted on two continents shows that some wild animals deliberately
consume plants whose leaves are covered with microscopic hooks which scour the intestines. ...

Geophagy is the consumption of soil, and in wild animals this practice has the effect of
neutralising the defensive poisons produced by plants. For instance, researchers discovered that
some tropical birds practise geophagy when they consume seeds that contain alkaloids, which are
toxic. In an experiment with seed eating macaws scientists discovered a direct link between the
consumption of clay and the reduction of alkaloids in the birds bloodstreams. Furthermore, the
leaves of many tropical plants contain high levels of toxins, and scientists have observed that
herbivores in tropical regions regularly consume clay. Elephants, for example, only cease
consumption of clay during specific times of the year when their diet changes from leaves to fruit.
As a result, researchers have concluded that these wild animals ingest clay in order to neutralise the
poisons contained in the plants they

Teaching Equivalence in Fractions with Unlike Denominators...
Once students get to the fourth grade, learning equivalence in fractions with unlike denominators is
something that they can look forward to...or not look forward to. It can be a very tough lesson and
something that is hard for the children to understand. They need to have a simple understanding of
fractions already. They need to know what they are and how they add up together. Meaning that
they need to understand that fractions are a part of a whole...a fractionof something, and that if the
fractions are equal they can add up to create a whole. The easiest way to describe this and review
it is with a circle representing a pie. Each slice comes from the pie and all put together its a whole.
Also the stronger the students is with their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next the teacher would show them an unequivalent fraction by having them compare 1/2 and 1/3
in their circle. They look close...but they arent! From here a worksheet would be given out with
some fractions for the children to identify their equal. They would work in partner groups and use
their pie pieces to research and experiment and find the answer. This will give the students a good
chance to work together and investigate with hands on pieces and think through the questions.
All of the previous work the students have done with the manipulatives and the visual aids should
have given them a good foundation for writing fractions and seeing how they are represented with
numbers and not just physical parts or fractions of a whole. There is a pattern between equivalent
fractions that is based on counting by multiples. It can also be explained on knowing and using
basic multiplication tables. To find an equivalent fraction is basic multiplication of both the
numerator and the denominator by a number that is more than one or zero. Two is a very good base,
low number to start with. Next is to explain to the students that with equivalent fraction problems
you are looking for that missing number, that missing part that makes it complete.
For example, 2/5 is equal to 4/?
The teacher explains that in order to solve for the missing, you will have to determine 3 times

What Is Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Theory One of the many interesting things Maslow noticed while he worked with monkeys
early in his career, was that some needs take precedence over others. For example, if you are
hungry and thirsty, you will tend to try to take care of the thirst first. After all, you can do
without food for weeks, but you can only do without water for a couple of days! Thirst is a
stronger need than hunger. Likewise, if you are very very thirsty, but someone has put a choke
hold on you and you can t breath, which is more important? The need to breathe, of course. On
the other hand, sex is less powerful than any of these. Let s face it, you won t die if you don t get
it! Maslow took this idea and created his now famous hierarchy of needs. Beyond... Show more

All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you don t have enough of
something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing
at all! In other words, they cease to be motivating. As the old blues song goes, you don t miss
your water till your well runs dry! He also talks about these levels in terms of homeostasis.
Homeostasis is the principle by which your furnace thermostat operates: When it gets too cold,
it switches the heat on; When it gets too hot, it switches the heat off. In the same way, your
body, when it lacks a certain substance, develops a hunger for it; When it gets enough of it, then
the hunger stops. Maslow simply extends the homeostatic principle to needs, such as safety,
belonging, and esteem, that we don t ordinarily think of in these terms. Maslow sees all these
needs as essentially survival needs. Even love and esteem are needed for the maintenance of
health. He says we all have these needs built in to us genetically, like instincts. In fact, he calls
them instinctoid instinct like needs. In terms of overall development, we move through these
levels a bit like stages. As newborns, our focus (if not our entire set of needs) is on the
physiological. Soon, we begin to recognize that we need to be safe. Soon after that, we crave
attention and affection. A bit later, we look for self esteem. Mind you, this is in

Childhood Bulimia Nervosa
Background: Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are life threatening
conditions that affect a person s emotional and physical health. Anorexia nervosa is the intense fear
of gaining weight and having an abnormally low body weight. Individuals restrict the amount of
food they consume. Bulimia Nervosais eating large amounts of food and getting rid of the extra
calories by force vomiting or misusing laxatives. Abuse during childhood has long been
hypothesized to be a risk factor for the development of eating disorders (Harlow, Rayworth, and
Wise, 2004). The purpose of this study was to assess the association between childhood violence,
victimization, and eating disorders.

above Rayworth and others (Rayworth, et al (2004)), the researchers conducted a case control
study from Harvard Study of Moods and Cycles. Women between the age of 36 and 44 in the
years of 1995 through 1997 were sampled. The women returned questionnaires providing
information on their menstrual characteristics, current depressive symptoms, and history of
major depression. Most studies focus only on sexual abuse without analyzing physical abuse.
This study concluded that sexual abuse without physical abuse was not associated with eating
disorders. Women with histories of anorexia or bulimia and those who met the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition, reported some childhood abuse. Sexual
abuse without physical abuse was not associated with eating disorders, whereas physical abuse
without sexual abuse was still associated with a 2 fold increased risk of eating disorders. The joint
effect of both physical and sexual abuse resulted in a 3 fold increased risk of eating disorder
symptoms and a nearly 4 fold increased risk of eating disorders that met DSM IV criteria.

How The Schools Shortchange Boys By Gerry Garibaldi
In the essay How the Schools Shortchange Boys , author Gerry Garibaldi addresses the concern
of boys behaviors in school. Garibaldi first starts out by stating the feminist complaints that girls
were losing their voice in a male oriented classroom have precipitated the school s establishment to
be more in their favor. This has led to boys becoming increasingly disconnected inside the
classrooms. Garibaldi claims that only 65 percent earned high schooldiplomas in the class of 2003,
compared with 72 percent of girls. He continues by mentioning about how girls are outnumbering
boys on most university campuses in the country. According to Christina Hoff Sommers, author of

Randall Jarrell Poem Analysis
Randall Jarrell s poems and short stories are mostly about war and it s affects on humans.
Randall Jarrell persuaded the minds of people in society to enjoy and appreciate life through his

Benefits of Using Cloud Computing in E-Learning
BENEFITS OF USING CLOUD COMPUTING IN E LEARNING
One of the most interesting applications of cloud computing is educational cloud. The educational
cloud computing can focus the power of thousands of computers on one problem, allowing
researchers search and find models and make discoveries faster than ever. The universities can also
open their technology infrastructures to private, public sectors for research advancements. The
efficiencies of cloud computing can help universities keep pace with ever growing resource
requirements and energy costs. Students expect their personal mobile devices to connect to campus
services for education. Faculty members are asking for efficient access and flexibility when
integrating technology into their classes. Researchers want instant access to high performance
computing services, without them responsibility of managing a large server and storage farm. The
role of cloud computing at university education should not be underestimated as it can provide
important gains in offering direct access to a wide range of different academic resources, research
applications and educational tools. Usually, E learning systems are developed as distributed
applications, but not limited to. The architecture of an e learning system, developed as a distributed
application, includes a client application, an application server and a database server, beside the
hardware to support it (client computer, communication infrastructure and servers).

Sociological Conflict Theory
Divorce rates are growing higher and higher every year. I will compare the sociological conflict
theory and symbolic interaction theory on the social issue of rising divorce rates. I will show how
symbolic interaction can contribute to divorce because people will lack the direct response to the
actions of other people. I will also show how the conflict theory interprets the high tensions in a
marriagea result from the sociological and economic pressures we face in life.
Although divorce was looked down in the past it is becoming a part of modern life. In the 1950′s
the divorce rate in the United States was around fourteen percent. The divorce rate in the U.S.
has slowly risen to the point that many researchers now claim the overall rate of divorces has
reached fifty percent. ( The Rising Rate of Divorce , 2016). Now that divorce is so common
many people have different outlooks on it. Some say divorce is abandoning adult responsibility
and others think it s a way to free themselves from a miserable and unfulfilling life.
Symbolic interactionism a theoretical perspective in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symbolic interaction theory is microsociological and examines smaller patterns of social
interaction. This theory focuses on everyday face to face contact and how people perceive
different symbols. The symbolic interaction theory can contribute to divorce because people will
lack the direct response to actions of other people by interpreting symbols differently. The other
theory I examined was the conflict theory. The conflict theory is from the macrosociological level
and examines larger patterns of society. This theory examines the struggle for resources. The
conflict theory interprets the high tensions in a marriage a result from the sociological and
economic pressures we face in life. The conflict theory shows the fight for equality and power and
makes marriage a competition which results in

Network Security Is Important For Protecting Your Computer
Network Security

Daljot Rai
Have you ever surfed the web and received a popup alerting you a threat is detected? If so, you
are not alone. This is a very common issue web browsers and organizations face. In order to
resolve or prevent such issues, it is key to learn about the security of your network. Network
security is the protection of networks that help secure files and directories of a computer. It helps
protect the user from hackers, virus attacks, misuse and prevents unauthorized access. The
importance of learning and becoming aware of network security is important for protecting yourself
and others around you. I will be discussing the common type of attacks, methods to protect your
computer from harm and discuss what the future may hold for network security.
There are many attacks that can be associated with network security, eavesdropping, viruses
/malware and Trojans, phishing, IP spoofing attackand lastly denial of service. Eavesdropping, has
two subcategories passive and active. Passive eavesdropping refers to someone listening to a
phone call, or reading a chat email (Daya, Bhavya). Active eavesdropping refers to the hacker
physically going in and distressing the conversation (Daya, Bhavya). This type of attack allows the
hacker to steal confidential information. In this circumstance, it is important to have some sort of
network security because having someone listening in on a personal conversation can be
detrimental. This can be solved

The health benefits of ginger are plentiful and it is often classed as a wonder spice with both
medicinal and culinary upsides. Over forty four hundred years ago, according to Rodale s
Encyclopedia of Herbs , Greek bakers made gingerbread from ginger that was imported from the
Orient. In the sixteenth century the Spanish were cultivating it. From Jamaica conquistadors
brought it to the New World. In 1884 Great Britain was importing well over 5 million pounds of
ginger root. The origin of ginger is uncertain. It is believed to be native to southern China and
India. It was then introduced into southern Florida. It grows well in fertile, well drained and moist
soil that can be partially shaded.

Title: The Day After Roswell
Author: Col. Philip J. Corso
Publisher: Pocket Books
This book is about the 1947 UFO crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico.
During the night of July 1, 1947, the 509th airfield base in New Mexico was on high alert. They
were catching blips of something, something that moved too fast to be any earthly aircraft. The
small flashing dots would start at one corner of the radar and dart to the opposite, moving at
impossible speeds. They ran multiple tests to see if what they were seeing was really happening,
and every test showed it was. They confirmed it with radar control at White Sands , but there was

By the time the military had its own aircraft in the sky, the intruders were already gone. This told
the commanders that they were under strong surveillance by a presence that could only be hostile.
At first, no one considered the possibility of flying saucers or extraterrestrials, despite the
abundance of sighting and newspaper stories the last few weeks of Spring. There hadn t been any
close encounters , so it seemed impossible. The army officers of both White Sands and the 509th
believed the aircraft to be Russians, spying on the country s first nuclear bomber base and its
guided missile launching site.
The Army Counterintelligence sent their best World War II Operatives to Roswell. CIC personnel
began to show up when the reports of strange radar blips where file through the intelligence and
they kept coming as the reports piled up.
On the day of July 4, 1947, the blips appeared to be changing shape. As they moved back and
forth on the radar, they seemed to be pulsating, glowing very bright and then dimming. The pattern
of its movements suddenly changed as it darted to the lower left hand quadrant of the screen,
disappeared for a moment, and then exploded in a magnificent white fluorescent light and
evaporated before the officers eyes. The radar screen was clear. The pulsating blips were gone. All
the officers, radar controllers and CIC personnel, stared at each other with the same thought clawing

Discuss Eysenck’s Theory of Criminal Personality – Refer...
The term personality is generally used to refer to relatively stable characteristics of a person that
make their behaviour consistent across situations (but many other definitions are possible,
depending on the approach being taken). Hans Eysenck (1964) put forward a theory of criminal
behaviour based on a very influential theory of personality he had earlier devised. Although this
theory is usually referred to as a personality theory of offending, it is important to appreciate that
Eysenck s theory conceives of criminal behaviour as the outcome of interactions between processes
occurring at several different levels of explanation. Eysenck s theory suggests that crime arises from
certain personality traits, which are biological in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Primal Place is a book written by Robert Finch about his experiences, thoughts, and feelings
regarding Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The book s 241 pages are divided into 2 large Parts ;
Digging In and Going Out . Within these Parts , there are thirteen chapters. Chapters one through

Each chapter is divided into numerical sections to further organize Finch s thoughts. These various
divisions greatly add to the book s neat and logical structure. The book contains a preface, which

It is clear that he loves the nature and history of Cape Cod. In the preface, Finch states that Cape
Cod created within him a passion for discovery (Finch X) His style is very expressive; he utilizes
long, descriptive sentences.
Delivery:
Most aspects of the books delivery don t help it or harm it in communicating its message.
However, the front and back covers play a role in the book s message. The image depicted on the
front is a beautiful painting of the dunes and beach of Cape Cod. The fact that it is a painting
gives the viewer the sense that it is old and contains rich history. It also may entice the reader to
discover more about the beautiful location.
Personal Response Overall, I enjoyed The Primal Place by Robert Finch. It was probably the book
I enjoyed the most from our nature writing unit. I think he managed to describe nature well and
thoroughly without dragging on for too long. He also seemed less radical than Dillard, Ehlrich,
and Thoreau, which made him more relatable. Also, the topics of his writing are more varied. He
discusses the ecology and history of Cape Cod and relates them well to the present. I could see lots
of Thoreau influence in the book, mainly in the chapter structure. Both Thoreau and Finch often
begin a chapter with smaller observations and extend them to more profound

INTRODUCTION
Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) refers to a complex series of rare but well studied
enzymatic errors of metabolism with deficient levels of different enzymes involved in the synthesis
of cortisol (hydrocortisone).
CAH comprises a group of disorders resulting from defective synthesis of adrenal corticosteroids.
Lack of glucocorticoids, especially cortisol, causes various kinds of metabolic problems. The
response to low levels of cortisol is increased production of corticotropin (ACTH). Lack of
mineralocorticoids, primarily aldosterone (steroid hormone), causes sodium and water imbalance

Critical Analysis Of Levin And Tolstoy
KONSTANTIN LEVIN AS THE SPOKESPERSON OF LEO TOLSTOY
After reading the first part of Anna Karenina, Sophia Andreevna, Tolstoy s wife, had said to him,
Levin is you, Lyova, minus the talent... Levin is an impossible man! Due to multiple similarities
in the character of Levin and Tolstoy, he is often considered as his most complete self portrait.
The social position, the passion for hunting, the love of Russian peasantry, the ideas and opinions
of Tolstoy, all find a reflection in the character of Levin. He is also shown using Tolstoy s method
of criticism by feigned comprehension to matters like elections, government bureaucracy and even
the latest fashion in music. Levin s estate reproduces Tostoy s Yasnaya Polyana, and his marriage
to Kitty duplicates Tolstoy s marriage to Sophia in closest of its details. The death of Levin s
brother Nikolai is drawn from the death of Tolstoy s own brother Nikolai. But the most significant is

In Part III of Anna Karenina, Levin s visit to the Sviazhsky s prompts a debate about the education
of peasants. Sviazhsky suggests that to educate the peasantry, three things are needed: schools,
schools and schools . On further probing the argument, Levin states that education will only offer
peasants with news needs and it would make their material condition worse because they won t be
able to satisfy them . His concern is that the central issue is not lack of education but a weak
economic system which does not facilitate the time and means of education for the peasantry. In a
similar discussion with his brother on Zemstva, Levin expresses his disinterest in investing in
schools which would provide an education that, according to him, was not either good or

Case Study Of Swift Burgers
Karen Deria is a married mother of two children in a typical family home in Marikina City. To
support her children s education, Mrs. Deria decided to venture in a burger making business
after realizing that she has a great recipe for burgers. In January 2016, she made use of a capital
of в‚±500,000 to start this venture. She named her business Swift Burgers because it aims to
produce ready to serve burgers in hopes of competing with the large fast food chains around her
area while providing customers with affordable yet delicious burgers. Ultimately, she envisions
Swift Burgers to be easily available and affordable all over the Philippines.
Swift Burgers can be classified as a sole proprietorship, or an unincorporated business owned and
run by Karen Deria herself, with no distinction between the business and the owner. In other
words, she is entitled to all profits and is solely responsible for all the business s debts, losses and

Mobile Phones The Death Of Cell Phones
Brandon Marxen English 1A 10 29 17 Cell Phones: The Death of Social Interaction Phones are
quickly becoming the downfall of America s youth in today s society. You can t go out into
public today without seeing children, some no more than a few years old, walking around with
smartphones worth hundreds of dollars. It s a fascinating but unfortunate trend to witness and it
s only becoming worse as time progresses. Kids no longer have to leave the comfort of their
home to hang out and socialize with friends. They can now do everything from their mobile
phone including talk, text, browse the internet, and indulge themselves on various forms of
media. The reasons to go out and socialize are slowly diminishing as companies are finding new
ways to keep people glued to their phone screens. People no longer have the urge to go out and
experience new situations or learn new information. All the information they could possibly want
to know sits in the palm of their hand, eliminating the need for any type of patience. With society
now favoring easier ways of communication, face to face interaction will inevitably become less
and less common. It s a common occurrence nowadays to see a group a friends sitting around on
their phones not talking to each other, especially in younger crowds. Most social media apps like
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram would have you believe that their service makes it easier to
communicate with others. However, just the opposite is true.

Film Analysis Of Mean Girls
Mean Girls directed by Mark Waters is a coming of age movie which follows the high school
journey of Cady Heron. Coming from being home schooled her whole life, 16 year old Cady
must survive high school as she learns it is completely different from the environment in Africa.
Mean Girls addresses subjects such as beauty is only skin deep in a light hearted and comedic
manner, making it a movie that can be enjoyed by all ages while still spreading awareness.
Moving from a secluded friendly place in Africa, Cady has no experience of growing up in the
torture that is high school. She meets 2 new people on her first day who teach her about the
school. Not academically, but socially. She is instantly consumed by the drama that is high
school with no sense of how ruthless high school can be. Even though Mean Girls highly
exaggerates high school, I think the way they did so was super effective in telling a story. I
thoroughly enjoyed the comparison of the animal world which is the world Cady used to come
from when living in Africa, to girl world which is where she lives now. As I see it, animal world
is full of savage creatures and harm where all things are resolved with violence whereas in girl
world, to survive you must be sneaky and malicious which were all things Cady had to learn to
adapt to. I think this comparison was used to show how when we are thrown into a new situation,
we can feel lost as if we were in a jungle in fear of our new surroundings. But in Mean Girls, Cady

George W. Bush Intervention In Iraq
Ramesh Thakur is an assistant secretary general of the UN and he was also one of the authors of
the R2P. He stated that a state which, is intervening in other state with the use of force without UN
authorization is violating international law (Thakur, 2004). US employed the notion of
humanitarian intervention in the case of Iraq to justify the actions; however, US did not have the
support of international community to intervene in Iraq. In addition, there is a notion of
paternalistic belief put forth by Partha Chatterjee wherein, powerful nations feel that it is their
moral duty to protect weaker nations (Thakur, 2004). There were several reasons for George W.
Bush to intervene in Iraq that failed the test of an R2P type intervention. Bush wanted to take

The Purpose Of Fractional Distillation
Discussion
The purpose of this experiment is to identify two compounds from an unknown given liquid by
separating them into three components using fractional distillation. Distillation is the act of heating
and cooling liquids in order to obtain a pure sample. There are two main types of distillation: simple
distillation and fractional distillation. Simple distillation is the most basic form of a distillation.
This method is more helpful when the separation between a liquid and a solid needs to happen or
between two liquids with boiling points that have a difference of about 50В°C or higher.
Fractional distillation is similar to simple distillation; however, it is used to separate two liquids
with similar boiling points. Fractional distillation works by first heating up the solution of the two
liquids. Once the solution begins to boil, the unknown compound that has a lower boiling point will
evaporate and rise into a distillation apparatus. The newly formed gas will travel through the
apparatus until it is cooled down, at which point the gas will not be able to maintain the energy
needed for this specific phase, and will begin to condense back into a liquid. The same process will
occur with the second liquid, the only difference being that it needed a higher temperature in order
to transform into a gas. The two new liquids will each have a higher percentage of the unknown
compound, thus making them have a higher purity rate.
The second technique that will be used to identify

Dead Wake Quotes
Accelerated English II Quote Analysis In the historical novel, Dead Wake by Erik Larson, the
author composes and reveals the lesser known story of the Lusitania, a passenger liner that was
traveling to England. However, despite the great pride in the Lusitania s greatness, she was sunk
by a German U boat, the U 20, on May 7th, 1915. There are many reasons that people believe that
the Lusitania was sunk, but Larson seemed to most prominently claim that the Lusitania was
intentionally sunk in order to drag America into World War I
. These quotes are examples of his
claim in the book:
Indeed, these are the great lingering questions of the Lusitania affair: Why, given all the
information possessed by the Admiralty about U 20; given the Admiralty s past willingness to
provide escorts to inbound ships or divert them away from trouble; given that the ship carried a
vital cargo of rifle ammunition and artillery shells; given that Room 40 s intelligence prompted the
obsessive tracking and protection of the HMS Orion; given that U 20 had sunk three vessels in the
Lusitania s path; given Cunard chairman Booth s panicked Friday morning ... Show more content on

When analyzing the syntax and diction used in this specific quote, it is obvious that Larson
appears to be very suspicious of the behavior and actions of Room 40. Larson does this by
adding slights hints of sarcasm by the placement of his chosen words to add extra impact and
differing meanings to many words. He also proves his claim by showing how Room 40 was
very aware of the situation at hand and the possible outcome of the Lusitania s lone voyage of
the, at the time, dangerous British sea s. Larson explicitly knows that the Admiralty was very
cautious when in regard to boat s such as the HMS Orion, and knew that the Admiralty was aware
of the three previous boat sinkings before the Lusitania. Larson also questions Room 40 on why no
escort was provided for the Lusitania on it s

Tyler Durden s Loss Of Aggression In Fight Club
The movie Fight Club was based on the story of a man, played by Edward Norton, that had
unmanaged aggression. He met Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt, who was a different version
of himself resulting from not releasing aggression. The result of not releasing aggression in a
healthy way started symptoms, including insomnia and getting away from the self, the need for

Of The Vietnam War Burdens In Tim O Brien s The Things...
Forty two years after the Fall of Saigon, the Vietnam War remains an affliction for Vietnam War
Veterans and their families. Millions of our youth were forced to leave their home and carry
inconceivable burdens. Thus, as a Vietnam War Veteran, Tim O Brien can depict thoroughly our
Veterans burdens in The Things They Carried . His story brings us to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross
and his platoon in war torn Vietnam. Cross is the commanding officer; however, he does not
concentrate on the war but on his unrequited love. As a result, a Viet Cong kills one of his
subordinates, Ted Lavender. His death traumatizes the platoon, especially its commander.
Furthermore, the narrator also depicts the burden of not only their equipment but also their
psychological distress. In response to O Brien s short story, Steven Kaplan writes a criticism The
undying uncertaintyof the narrator in Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried. . In his criticism,
Kaplan focuses on the uncertainty of the war. He argues that O Brien s ultimate purpose is to
display the undying uncertainty of the Vietnam War (10). Despite his concrete and logical
argument, he fails to address the significance of the soldiers physical and psychological burdens,
which emphasizes the story s theme; therefore, his argument does not delineate the story entirely.
Even though he does not describe the full theme, he uncloaks the general mood of the story.
According to Kaplan, the only certain thing during the Vietnam War was

Religious Belief And Practice Everyday Life
Religion
In every culture there seems be a creation myth the story of how the world and everything on it
came to be. Religion and the rituals surrounding them are found in every culture in the world.
Examples that are familiar to many Christians in the United States are attending churches, praying
before a meal or in a time of grief, and baptisms for infants shortly after they are born. Religion
serves many functions in society, and attempts to answer some of life s big questions, such as:
Who am I? How was the Universe created? Why am I here? What happens when I die? The role of
religious belief and practice everyday life can affect us in ways we may not even realize until we
dig a little deeper below the surface.
In Life in Riverside, the Sanos begin their search for a suitable home by touring several
apartments in the area. Many of the questions are geared to determine the trust worthiness of the
Sanos: Where do you work? Where are you from? What church do you go to? The last questions
throws the couple off guard and they are unsure of how to answer the question fearing that saying
they do not attend a Christian church will label them as dishonest or immoral people. They write of
the experience (25):
We found this question not only strange but also awkward to answer. In asking ourselves why we
found this questions to be so awkward, we decide that it is probably due to the way Japanese view

Football Advantages And Disadvantages
One of the first football games, of my freshman year that we weren t supposed to win; however,
we ended up winning by so many points that my head coach told yours truly to allow the opposing
team s participants to tackle myself while running the football. Although I only scored once in that
game, I truly did a little acting when they struggled to tackle yours truly all throughout the
conclusion of the 3rd and 4th quarter. This story is about both having a perceived advantage that
became a disadvantage and a perceived a disadvantage that became a real advantage. It is true that
during the fall of 1991, my footballteam(Little Cypress Mauriceville) remained the underdogs as a
4A school playing against a 5A school in Orange, Texas. That implies their school happened to be
much larger, and I should mention our class had 1,500 students in just my school s freshman class

you were all loud and goofing around, but now being at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has
changed you temporarily inside. Somehow the Tomb of the Unknown Soldierseems to do this to
almost everyone. The earnestness of the situation just fixes people s behavior, and they stay
completely serious as they stare in awe at the precision and beauty of both the tomb itself and the
tomb guard. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has many interesting factors. History, construction,
symbolism, and the tomb guard all play a special part in the importance of the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is in Fort Myer, Virginia and is located in Arlington National
Cemetery. Arlington National Cemetery, where about 400,000 people are buried, is a place
where people who were in the military are buried whether they died in combat, or died of
something else, but were once in the military. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has never
officially been named. It consists of 4 tombs, only three of them have bodies in them. It represents
all unknown soldiers who have died in battle and that they will never be forgotten. There is a tomb
for WW1, WW2, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. They are/were all filled with unknown
soldiers from the corresponding war, except for the unknown

Scott Duvall And Daniel Hays State In Grasping God s Word
As Scott Duvall and Daniel Hays state in Grasping God s Word, every copy of the Bible today is
a translation, unless everyone wants to learn Hebrew and Greek (the Bible s original languages)...
(Duvall and Hays 23). This being the case, people may debate which translation is more accurate;
however, the best way to understand the Bibleis by reading several different translations and
comparing them to one another. The main reason several translations helps people grasp the full
meaning of Scripture is because some translations are word for word, which is the formal approach
in translation and gives a reader the closest possible words from when the text was written. On the
other hand, the more functional approach in translation is thought for

One of the new innovations is called Anaerobic digestion. This one of the best ways to deal with
waste and gives a great to organic waste. Anaerobic digestion allows to turn the calumniating
gases into energy. The process of anaerobic digestion is putting microorganisms in an
environment with no oxygen to kill the bacteria. People will always produce bio waste, whether
they produce food or sewage, anaerobic digestion is a great waste management system system
but is also a source of renewable energy. Another innovation in dealing with waste is Waste to
Energy also known as WTE. WTE has the benefit of being able to completely remove waste
instead of reuse or process it. Usually the WTE plants operate by burning the waste and converting
the resulting heat into energy. Now there are new types of WTE: gastification, pyrolysis, thermal
deploymerization, and plasma arc gasification. Gastification is the process of changing into gas.
Pyrolysis is the chemical change from the movement of heat. Thermal depolymerization is a
process of the minimization of complex organic materials, usually waste products, into light crude
oil. Plasma arc gastification is a process that converts organic matter into synthetic gas or
electricity. These new ways of WTE are taking over in that

The Dual Diagnosis Service Users Essay
Methodology
This section will provide the rationale of the methods employed and highlight how the study will
be performed. The study will examine the dual diagnosis service users with the sample size
identified, data collection method and its analysis will be offered.
Research Approach
This study draws on an array of evidence based literature to promote positive behaviour amongst
dual diagnosis service users. An examination of the research literature was used to inform the
design of the study and the research questions. The research approach influences the study s entire
formation and its outcome will be dependent on the approach used (Silva et al, 2015). The research
purpose is to formulate a research question and follow a plan to adequately answer it (Maltby et al,
2014). A selected research approach depends on the question being examined, Parahoo (2014).
Within research, there exist three identified approaches namely qualitative, quantitative and mixed
methods.
This study will utilise a qualitative approach to obtain dual diagnosis service users perspective on
minimising violent and aggressive behaviour. I will use focus groups to collect data from the
patients and interview staff using semi structured questionnaires. This will permit me to examine
the perspectives and experiences of dual diagnosis service users and staff as argued by Newell and

Junior Year Goals Research Paper
Junior Year Goals My first goal is to stay on top of any reading in english class throughout the
year. I chose this because although I love reading, I m generally a slow reader and this causes
me to get discouraged and fall behind at some points. I plan to achieve this goal by not
procrastinating, and trying my hardest to stay focus on the book instead of outside distractions.
One way to achieve this would be insuring that wherever I read is quiet and free of distractions. By
doing so, this will help me focus on the words, and hopefully speed up my reading pace. My
second goal is becoming more physically active. I chose this goal because as the school year goes
on I seem to become less and less physically active as I am busy with school work. School is
always my top priority, but my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some ways to achieve this would be to walk my two dogs, as this not only provides exercise for
me, but the dogs as well (they need it just as much as I do). Not only will daily exercise improve
my health, it will teach me time management, which is a long term benefit that I will use for the
rest of my life. My third goal, which will be the most difficult for me, is earning a B grade or
higher on all of my final exams at Xavier. Throughout my academic career, exams have always
been a huge stretch for me. A big part of why I don t do as well as I would prefer on exams is
because of my level of anxiety leading up to it. Study habits are a strength for me, but keeping
myself calm is what I have trouble with. As soon as I walk into the room to take an exam, I start
second guessing my first instinct, even though it is usually correct. By the time I finish, I m
flustered and discouraged. A way to fix this problem would to make sure that my studying is
concrete. By making sure that I have all of the information I need in my head, this should reduce
my stress level. This could include using study guides, becoming involved in a study group, and
always staying for 8th

Should I Be An Avid Concert Goer And All Around Explorer
Growing up as a wanderess, one would think that I would have mastered the art of clubbing.
However, that couldn t be any further than the truth. While I might be an avid concert goer and all
around explorer, why would I ever engage in clubbing? I don t drink and the thought of standing in
a dark room with strangers with no purpose seemed odd to me. Truthfully, the closest I have ever
had to a clublike experience would be the horrific house party of 12. Needless to say, that was
enough to cement my belief that it would be unenjoyable. Sitting around Friday afternoon with no
plans yet set in stone, suggesting that we go out for girls nightlater that evening via group chat
seemed perfectly normal. Bouncing ideas off each other, I brought up the idea of wanting to
check out a club. Apparently that caught everyone off guard; instantly the conversation died and I
was greeted with several phone calls asking whether or not I was okay and how long I had left .
Anyone who knows me knows that while I may love concerts I simply view clubbing as Prom
minus chaperones. If you could not tell, I was not fond of the idea of prom either and so opted
out. It is not that I am prude of any sort but what is the point of spending hours in line just to enter
a dark room only to be grinded on and groped by strangers?
Once I thoroughly reassured everyone that I was in my right state of mind, preparations for that
evening began. Frankly speaking I never realized how much time and

Disadvantages Of Home School Essay
There are so many advantages and disadvantages to home schooling, but is this really what you
want for your kid? In my eyes, I would let my child start home schooling because I know how
hard school can be on a kid young or old. The effects it has on their life and health isn t worth it.
When your kid(s) are home at least then you can watch him or her.
According to Isabel Shaw of Family Education Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests,
are welcome at colleges and universities, and as adults, have a reputation for being self directed
learners and reliable employees. Now I do agree with her, but not all kids that are home schooled
do great on standard tests just like any other kid from public school, they could all do well if they ...

Now many have their thought and opinions against what controls a child s happiness and their
emotions but according to studies Homeschooled kids can dress and act and think the way they
want, without fear of ridicule or a need to fit in. They live in the real world, where lives aren t
dictated by adolescent trends and dangerous experimentation. What I want people to know is
that bullying happens in the real world and not just in movies, such as physical, mentally, and
emotionally. This could affect how a kid acts or how he does in school like for example, myself.
When I got bullied I was scared and tired a lot and didn t want to have any social interaction with
others because of it. My grades dropped and I figured I show look into home schooling. Now I
never did home schooling but I know some people that have because of dealing with what I had
been through and became a new person.
Busywork. We all dread the word and what it means. Work, school, and all that fun stuff. With
no districting around the class and other people, kids can get a lot of work done. Also helps that
your mom, dad, or whoever is teaching you can focus on you and work with you and get it done
faster instead of working with 30 or more students. A recent interview with, John Taylor Gatto,
New York City Teacher of the Year and a 26 year teaching veteran, said In many classrooms less

Not all ergogenic aids are illegal; many such as dietary supplements, vitamin supplements, or protein supplements are widely used and accepted, however, many are illegal and are banned by many athletic committees(Ahrendt,1). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The effectiveness of blood doping is unsure, researches don t know if it truly works. Some reports state that the added RBC and hemoglobin increase the viscosity of the blood, which in turn actually decreases the VO2 max(Goldman,50). The increase in viscosity can lead to an overload of work in the liver and kidney, which could lead to future problems in the liver and kidney (Shipe,77). • 6. Self-Medication In Wild Animals Research indicates that wild animals utilise aspects of their natural environment to self medicate in at least three ways. The use of rough plants as a type of intestinal scour is a prevalent technique for the removal of internal parasites. Some animals also poison their internal parasites by ingesting toxic plants found in their natural habitat. In addition, in order to neutralise toxins in the plants they eat, some wild animals engage in geophageous behaviour. A widespread method of self medication in wild animals is the use of abrasive plants to purge the digestive system. Research conducted on two continents shows that some wild animals deliberately consume plants whose leaves are covered with microscopic hooks which scour the intestines. ... For instance, researchers discovered that some tropical birds practise geophagy when they consume seeds that contain alkaloids, which are toxic. In an experiment with seed eating macaws scientists discovered a direct link between the consumption of clay and the reduction of alkaloids in the birds bloodstreams. Furthermore, the leaves of many tropical plants contain high levels of toxins, and scientists have observed that herbivores in tropical regions regularly consume clay. Elephants, for example, only cease consumption of clay during specific times of the year when their diet changes from leaves to fruit. Once students get to the fourth grade, learning equivalence in fractions with unlike denominators is something that they can look forward to...or not look forward to. It can be a very tough lesson and something that is hard for the children to understand. They need to have a simple understanding of fractions already. They need to know what they are and how they add up together. Meaning that they need to understand that fractions are a part of a whole...a fractionof something, and that if the fractions are equal they can add up to create a whole. The easiest way to describe this and review it is with a circle representing a pie. Each slice comes from the pie and all put together its a whole. Also the stronger the students is with their... They would work in partner groups and use their pie pieces to research and experiment and find the answer. This will give the students a good chance to work together and investigate with hands on pieces and think through the questions. All of the previous work the students have done with the manipulatives and the visual aids should have given them a good foundation for writing fractions and seeing how they are represented with numbers and not just physical parts or fractions of a whole. There is a pattern between equivalent fractions that is based on counting by multiples. It can also be explained on knowing and using basic multiplication tables. To find an equivalent fraction is basic multiplication of both the numerator and the denominator by a number that is more than one or zero. Two is a very good base, low number to start with. Next is to explain to the students that with equivalent fraction problems you are looking for that missing number, that missing part that makes it complete. For example, 2/5 is equal to 4/? • 9. What Is Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory One of the many interesting things Maslow noticed while he worked with monkeys early in his career, was that some needs take precedence over others. For example, if you are hungry and thirsty, you will tend to try to take care of the thirst first. After all, you can do without food for weeks, but you can only do without water for a couple of days! Thirst is a stronger need than hunger. Likewise, if you are very very thirsty, but someone has put a choke hold on you and you can t breath, which is more important? The need to breathe, of course. On the other hand, sex is less powerful than any of these. Let s face it, you won t die if you don t get it! Maslow took this idea and created his now famous hierarchy of needs. Beyond... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you don t have enough of something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing at all! In other words, they cease to be motivating. As the old blues song goes, you don t miss your water till your well runs dry! He also talks about these levels in terms of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the principle by which your furnace thermostat operates: When it gets too cold, it switches the heat on; When it gets too hot, it switches the heat off. In the same way, your body, when it lacks a certain substance, develops a hunger for it; When it gets enough of it, then the hunger stops. Maslow simply extends the homeostatic principle to needs, such as safety, belonging, and esteem, that we don t ordinarily think of in these terms. Maslow sees all these needs as essentially survival needs. Even love and esteem are needed for the maintenance of health. He says we all have these needs built in to us genetically, like instincts. In fact, he calls them instinctoid instinct like needs. In terms of overall development, we move through these levels a bit like stages. As newborns, our focus (if not our entire set of needs) is on the physiological. Soon, we begin to recognize that we need to be safe. Soon after that, we crave attention and affection. A bit later, we look for self esteem. Mind you, this is in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mean Girls addresses subjects such as beauty is only skin deep in a light hearted and comedic manner, making it a movie that can be enjoyed by all ages while still spreading awareness. Moving from a secluded friendly place in Africa, Cady has no experience of growing up in the torture that is high school. She meets 2 new people on her first day who teach her about the school. Not academically, but socially. She is instantly consumed by the drama that is high school with no sense of how ruthless high school can be. As I see it, animal world is full of savage creatures and harm where all things are resolved with violence whereas in girl world, to survive you must be sneaky and malicious which were all things Cady had to learn to adapt to. I think this comparison was used to show how when we are thrown into a new situation, we can feel lost as if we were in a jungle in fear of our new surroundings. But in Mean Girls, Cady ... He stated that a state which, is intervening in other state with the use of force without UN authorization is violating international law (Thakur, 2004). US employed the notion of humanitarian intervention in the case of Iraq to justify the actions; however, US did not have the support of international community to intervene in Iraq. In addition, there is a notion of paternalistic belief put forth by Partha Chatterjee wherein, powerful nations feel that it is their moral duty to protect weaker nations (Thakur, 2004). These were some of the reasons that enabled US to consolidate their position to intervene in Iraq. However, it is argued these are the true reasons that highlights the urgency of endorsing the language of R2P on the grounds that US wants to protect Iraqi civilians from Saddam s cruel treatment. • 28. The Purpose Of Fractional Distillation Discussion The purpose of this experiment is to identify two compounds from an unknown given liquid by separating them into three components using fractional distillation. Distillation is the act of heating and cooling liquids in order to obtain a pure sample. There are two main types of distillation: simple distillation and fractional distillation. Simple distillation is the most basic form of a distillation. This method is more helpful when the separation between a liquid and a solid needs to happen or between two liquids with boiling points that have a difference of about 50В°C or higher. Fractional distillation is similar to simple distillation; however, it is used to separate two liquids with similar boiling points. Fractional distillation works by first heating up the solution of the two liquids. Once the solution begins to boil, the unknown compound that has a lower boiling point will evaporate and rise into a distillation apparatus. The newly formed gas will travel through the apparatus until it is cooled down, at which point the gas will not be able to maintain the energy needed for this specific phase, and will begin to condense back into a liquid. The same process will occur with the second liquid, the only difference being that it needed a higher temperature in order to transform into a gas. The two new liquids will each have a higher percentage of the unknown compound, thus making them have a higher purity rate. The second technique that will be used to identify ... • 29. Dead Wake Quotes Accelerated English II Quote Analysis In the historical novel, Dead Wake by Erik Larson, the author composes and reveals the lesser known story of the Lusitania, a passenger liner that was traveling to England. However, despite the great pride in the Lusitania s greatness, she was sunk by a German U boat, the U 20, on May 7th, 1915. There are many reasons that people believe that the Lusitania was sunk, but Larson seemed to most prominently claim that the Lusitania was intentionally sunk in order to drag America into World War I . These quotes are examples of his claim in the book: Indeed, these are the great lingering questions of the Lusitania affair: Why, given all the information possessed by the Admiralty about U 20; given the Admiralty s past willingness to provide escorts to inbound ships or divert them away from trouble; given that the ship carried a vital cargo of rifle ammunition and artillery shells; given that Room 40 s intelligence prompted the obsessive tracking and protection of the HMS Orion; given that U 20 had sunk three vessels in the Lusitania s path; given Cunard chairman Booth s panicked Friday morning ... He also proves his claim by showing how Room 40 was very aware of the situation at hand and the possible outcome of the Lusitania s lone voyage of the, at the time, dangerous British sea s. Millions of our youth were forced to leave their home and carry inconceivable burdens. Thus, as a Vietnam War Veteran, Tim O Brien can depict thoroughly our Veterans burdens in The Things They Carried . His story brings us to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and his platoon in war torn Vietnam. Cross is the commanding officer; however, he does not concentrate on the war but on his unrequited love. As a result, a Viet Cong kills one of his subordinates, Ted Lavender. His death traumatizes the platoon, especially its commander. Furthermore, the narrator also depicts the burden of not only their equipment but also their psychological distress. In response to O Brien s short story, Steven Kaplan writes a criticism The undying uncertaintyof the narrator in Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried. . In his criticism, Kaplan focuses on the uncertainty of the war. He argues that O Brien s ultimate purpose is to display the undying uncertainty of the Vietnam War (10). Despite his concrete and logical argument, he fails to address the significance of the soldiers physical and psychological burdens, which emphasizes the story s theme; therefore, his argument does not delineate the story entirely. Even though he does not describe the full theme, he uncloaks the general mood of the story. According to Kaplan, the only certain thing during the Vietnam War was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon the arrival of her old friend Kristine Linde, Nora took it upon herself to find her friend a job since she had gone through a lot in her life. She asked her husband Torvald, who also happened to be the new manager at the bank if Kristine could have a job and he responded with an afirmative response. This could affect how a kid acts or how he does in school like for example, myself. When I got bullied I was scared and tired a lot and didn t want to have any social interaction with others because of it. My grades dropped and I figured I show look into home schooling. Now I never did home schooling but I know some people that have because of dealing with what I had been through and became a new person. Busywork. We all dread the word and what it means.
