The New York magazine first published the story in April 2003 featuring spiritualist Alexie holding

What You Pawn I Will Redeem . The State of Stylistics: PALA 26, 5, 303.
The scholastic research paper illustrates a comprehensive framework that is applicable in coursing a
fiction dialogue. It intends to exploit the Halliday s functional approach on the basis of elaboration to
initiate a conversational interaction and merged with a traditional discourse analysis to develop an act
for speech theory.
The study has put focus on analytical techniques that provides descriptive apparatus that presents a
simple and intricacy and dependency on an individual s capability to capture the disoriented speech
acts. However, course an interactive nature of conversation. Troyer provides a peer reviewed resource
by correlating the connection to the subject issue presenting firsthand. Tentatively, it offer insights

The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory
Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an
economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different
relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory,
the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world
communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with.
There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make
up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that
contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values.
Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by
using the following equation:
Worth = Rewards Costs
When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to
be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative.
The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes
that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the
idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self
interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that

Politics Is The Practice And Theory Of Power And Resources...
Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, definition of, for, or relating to citizens ) is the practice and
theory of influencing other people. Politics involves the making of a common decision for a group of
people, that is, a uniform decision applying in the same way to all members of the group. It also
involves the use of power by one person to affect the behavior of another person. More narrowly, it
refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance organized control over a human
community, particularly a state. Furthermore, politics is the study or practice of the distribution of
power and resources within a given community (a usually hierarchically organized population) as well
as the interrelationship(s) between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Formal Politics refers to the operation of a constitutional system of government and publicly defined
institutions and procedures.[1] Political parties, public policy or discussions about war and foreign
affairs would fall under the category of Formal Politics.[1] Many people view formal politics as
something outside of themselves, but that can still affect their daily lives.[1]
Informal Politics is understood as forming alliances, exercising power and protecting and advancing
particular ideas or goals. Generally, this includes anything affecting one s daily life, such as the way
an office or household is managed, or how one person or group exercises influence over another.[1]
Informal Politics is typically understood as everyday politics, hence the idea that politics is
everywhere .[1]

Color Television In The 1950 s
Color Television
First, I would like to define what color television is and then give some background history. Color
television is a television transmission technology that includes information on the color of the picture,
so the video image can be displayed in color on the television set. There was time when television
wasn t what it is today. Before many of us were born, the earliest television technology, which was the
monochrome or black and white television. The black and white sets displayed images of grey and the
monochrome sets showed rapid colors of red, green and blue which together showed images of color.
Many of the T.V. s were floor models or tabletop bulky sets. Television was upgraded from the black
and white screen to color in the 60 s and 70 s. The invention of color television and its standards are
an important part of television history.
Second, I will explain how color television had an impact in the 1950 s. Television struggled to
become available world wide during the early 50 s. Even in the 40 s there were only 3 ... Show more

signals to view many shows that we all love today. People heard and viewed events all at the same
time. They could experience and react together when events or tragedies happened. Any cultural
differences no longer existed since shows weren t only in black and white. Many different cultures
were able to learn about each other through shows or documentaries. During the late 60 s, household s
that had televisions rose tremendously. These opened doors for a wider variety of shows such as
comedies, cartoons, westerns, talk shows, elections just to name a few. Also this opened doors for

Hoefler Co.
For this research assignment, I looked up a company called Hoefler Co. This company designs and
publishes fonts for a huge variety of companies and some of the most famous brands out there toay.
Some fonts are created on a custom basis for editorial, institutional, and corporate clients while others
are designed for immediate sale to the public. They work with brand leaders in every sector,
developing original typefaces for print, web, and mobile environments, and licensing fonts from our
library of more than one thousand designs.
Designer Jonathan Hoefler founded the company in 1989 as The Hoefler Type Foundry (colloquially

With the original design created as a serif font, this image shows the array of different styles one font
can change into, including ornamental text design. The special character traits of some of the letters
gives this typeface a formal and traditional style with an artistic flair of more ornamental design. I
chose this font as a representation because it holds many similar characteristics to Times New Roman,
which almost everyone is familiar with and/or has used. The letter Q caught my attention, as well as
the individual design of the numbers to accompany the letters as shown by the 16 towards the middle
of the image. Hoefler Co. is consistently creating typefaces we use on a regular basis, and may not
realize come from such a large company. I feel that typeface is one of the least recognized areas of
design, which is ironic because without font styles, graphic design would almost be non existent. So
much of what is communicated is through letters or images that are inspired by letters. Logos, word
marks, symbols, and font all make up the world of graphic design, and without companies like Hoefler
Co. some of the most recognizable companies would have a very different

This case is about US Pharmaceuticals of Korea (USPK). US Pharmaceuticals of Korea sells
throughout Korea because there are no selling restrictions, only that the sellers they use have a
business license and a tax ID. A wholesaler has created a drug that helps to control sever cases of a
debilitating disease. They were reluctant to market it, but because the drug could help those afflicted
with it, they decided to market it anyway. Due to this, the marketing department is looking for a
distributing strategy. Tom Sloane is the marketing manager for USPK and he would like to improve

2. How would you handle the distribution problem?
This is harder to regulate, to successfully control distribution, price regulation would be effective. This
is what Tom Sloan would like to see more of; problem is it is a large range to control. We are talking
about regulating prices for wholesalers and retailers. Not to mention that competition is natural,
everyone wants to be the one that makes the sale. The drug peddlers are also a huge part of the
distribution problem. I think that what could really help would be for the government to pass laws and
distribution and to make everyone go through them to prove they are complying, maybe by having to
turn over financials quarterly for review and being fined if they don t comply. Without help, it think
the best thing to do would be to regulate who you sale to and how much you sell for, to regulate your
own distribution by controlling your selling prices and customers. Also, I think it would help to
properly market your product. Drug peddlers won t really have a leg to stand on with a reputable
company if they feel they don t offer a good product, place you a head above. 3. Can anything be done
through firms in the industry to improve the situation?
I say cut out the middle man, make more direct sales. Stop using wholesalers and deliver directly. I
think by making more personal sales, face to face, that it will improve selling. I think that if the

hour worked in the market sector rose by 1.2% and the Household saving ratio was 0.1. (Australia

competitive advantage of lowest price because of the high sensitivity of households. Low inflation
rates can also create more demand from the customers as disposable income has increased. 2.1.3

hit 21 million on the 29th June, 2007. 67.3% of population is between 15 and 64 years old. From this
aspect, Bunnings still have great potential to increase its market share based on the population
growing as the home purchase and improvement is part of people s basic needs. (Wikipidea, 2007)
Likewise, people s living standards are increasing and urging new fashions have brought people into a
new era. Societal trends of entertainment at home mean more people are installing pools, pergolas and

The Battle Of Kasserine Pass
E. STATE THE MISSION AND DESCRIBE INITIAL DISPOSTION OF FORCES
The Battle of Kasserine Pass proved to be a shock both to American military forces in the field. The
defeat of the Allied forces in the battle put doubt into the minds of many all of whom assumed the
righteous democracies of the western Allies could not be defeated in the field by the armies of
Fascism. The defeat suffered by the Allies had nothing to do with right versus wrong, but was very
much a product of a number of operational shortcomings on the part of the Allies. Poor logistics,
failures on the part of American leadership, lack of unity of effort on the part of the Allies, the lack of
combat experience, and inferior equipment all combined to contribute to the failure ... Show more

The decision to invade North Africa reflected the triumph of British strategic arguments over those of
the Americans as the Americans were pushing for an invasion in northern France as early as 1942.
American military leadership, however, was not sold on the logic or necessity of a North African
campaign. General George C. Marshall, the architect of American military strategy, wanted no part of
a US commitment to a Mediterranean campaign. The decision to commit American troops in North
Africa came directly from President Roosevelt, who overruled the advice of Marshall and his military
advisers on this point.
b. As the operation began, the Americans and British hoped the French would not resist the Allied
landings, and further expected French forces in North Africa would rejoin the anti Axis alliance. In
order to facilitate these hopes, the Allies designated General Dwight D. Eisenhower to command the
invasion forces. With an American general leading the forces, the Allies sought to restrict any
resistance from Anglophobic French officials and officers in the areas around the invasion beaches and
ports. Despite such measures, however, the French did put up some level of resistance at nearly every
landing point. Nonetheless, dissension among the various French factions in North Africa limited the
cohesiveness and effectiveness of the opposition. Ultimately, the magnitude and rapidity of the Allied

Comparative Analysis Paper Education systems are important in our society today as they shape how
we teach our future generations the knowledge and importance of learning. Education systems and
trademarks are identified and established by one s culture, history, tradition and many other practices.
Germany and South Korea are typical examples where each nation possesses unique educational
trademarks given its own geography, history, and custom practices in its country. Therefore, since
Germany and South Korea have extremely different values in terms of culture, history, and social
beliefs, both educational trademarks and ecological system cannot and should not be compared on the
educational scale.
Germany s Educational Trademark Germany is a big country. It contains a total of 357,021 square

The Music Of Reggae Music
Reggae music is the result of a number of different styles and genre of music being mixed together
and interrupted by Jamaicans. Reggae was really created in the late 1960s as a result of music genres
such as ska, rock steady, mento, American jazz, rhythm and blues, new Orleans R and B and calypso.
Ska and rock steady are very much the foundations for not only Reggae but a number of these other
genres too. Ska music originated in the late 1950s and was the precursor for rock steady music. Ska
music was characterized by the walking bass line , meaning it has a continuous sequence of notes that
are played. Rock steady is a genre created around 1966 in Jamaica and it was performed majorly by

were a vocal trio who started out by singing rock steady music as well. Their first Reggae single was

Nash released Hold Me Tight which is largely responsible for breaking the American market. Around
the same time Reggae was beginning to influence some pop and rock bands changing or effecting their
style of music such as a song by the Beatles called Ob La Di, Ob La Da. These are just a few of the
early influences and developments of reggae music, there are hundreds of others.

John Steinbeck introduces the character Crooks in the novella, Of Mice and Men, by presenting his
character through his possessions and through the little description of his appearance. At the beginning
of chapter four, Steinbeck presents Crooks as a negro stable buck, then begins to show the readers
what Crooks are like through his possessions. Steinbeck introduces Crooks to the readers in this way,
so the readers have an idea of what type of life Crooks had lived as a coloured man. That quote also
gives the readers hints of the theme of racism and how society was like during the 1930s.

In the fourth chapter, Crooks had started to express how lonely he actually was once he started to talk

valued his knowledge to read and preferred to keep his distance from the others he still felt all alone.
In the novella, it is stated that A guy sets alone out here...readin books or thinkin ... which tells the
readers how even though Crooks acts as a proud, aloof man, he is still just like any other person, who
ll get lonely, since ...books ain t no good. A guy needs somebody. Additionally, this is furthered by
Crooks by stating that ... a guy gets too lonely an he gets sick. This also furthers the knowledge of the
readers about the people during The Great Depression, which is that people were very lonely as they
had nobody, but themselves, to survive the harsh economic downfall. Furthermore, it also shows how
Crooks puts on a barrier in front of others to protect himself, which makes him feel alone. However,
when Lennie and Candy came and talked to Crooks, he had momentarily let his guard down, since it
was difficult for [him] to conceal his pleasure with anger. So, he ended up opening up about himself
and the loneliness he felt. Additionally, this theme of loneliness also links with the racism and
prejudice Crooks and other black people had to feel. Due to discrimination, Crooks had to be by
himself, which is probably one of the reasons on why Crooks had placed a barrier around himself as
he had to deal with the prejudice that faced him. The novella, Of Mice and Men, states that They play

Harry Hopkins was the savior of art culture during the Great Depression, as a matter of fact, Artists

of the program. He believed the artists had to generate earnings for their selves as well. The money
they will spend in the economy will help create jobs. The government treated the artist like employees

Essay On Goddess Of Passion ( Xana And Durihan )
Edana, Goddess of Passion (Xana and Durihan)
Have you heard of the Goddess Edana? Sven asked over the fire. The stars were already out, the night
sky a blanket for the Kingdom of Felhine. And beneath the stars, sitting in the midst of a forest was a
man and woman around a fire. The man a strong and proud warrior of the north, broad shoulders
accompanied by defined and battle tested muscle. He looked very much the part of a barbarian, and
the way he fought only confirmed that. But who Sven really was was a mercenary, and adventurer, a
sell sword. Traveling the kingdom to experience life at it s fullest. And the woman across from him?
Her name was Charlotte, a daughter of a nobleman who up until a few hours ago was in the oh so ...

Of course it wasn t the only place for such devotions to be enacted.
The very temple Sven spoke of, in the Capitol of Felhine was alive that very night. To call it a brothel
would be an insult, seeing how brothels were kept to the outer reaches of the city. The temple of
Edana was one of many temples, built and placed within the inner sphere of the city. Yes, for some
gold one could sleep with the gorgeous priestess s that called the temple home. But what temple didn t
accept payment for service? The Sect of Dorfane took gold for prophetic guidance on people s futures,
and the Sect of Bro Kul took gold for administering the rites of the dead. Just because the Sect of
Edana performed acts of flesh didn t make their worship, their deeds any less divine. Regardless
people came from all corners of the kingdom just for one night with the Divine prostitutes of Edana.
And Gareth was no different.
Where Gareth came from, what Gareth did for a living, what family he claimed no one knew. Nor
would they ask, he was a man that only appeared at night in the Capitol. An air of uneasiness seemed
to befall any that crossed his path. And yet those that Gareth took interest in, those he pursued seemed
to be transfixed by him, fascinated. But what else would they feel? Gareth was a vampire after all, no

Freedom-Determinism Debate
The controversy between freewill and determinism has been argued about for years. Freewill is
defined as the belief that our behaviour is under our own control and do not act in response to any
internal or external factors. Freewill has been found to have four different conditions and to have
freewill at least two conditions must be obtained, these are; people have a choice on their actions, have
not been coerced by anything or anyone, have full voluntary and deliberate control of what they do.
One example of freewill in psychology is Humanism. The humanists are in favour of freewill as they
believe that humans aren t ever determined to behave in a certain way.

For example, Skinner (1938) argues that since people are the result of their conditioning, and will get
conditioned by their upbringing and environments anyway, we should control people s upbringing and
environments as much as possible to ensure that their conditioning is positive. He suggested that
positive and negative reinforcement should be applied to this task.
Unlike Skinner, Lorenz (1963) says that unconscious forces determine our behaviour. These forces are
built into human nature by evolution. However these forces are quite unpleasant. For example, Lorenz
holds that aggression and territoriality and sexual competition are innate instinctive drives. Hence, we
are destined to want unconsciously to dominate others by violence, whether we consciously want to or
not. Similarly Freud s psychoanalytic theory of personality in the psychodynamic approach, suggests
that adult behaviour is determined by innate drives and early experiences. This gives support to the
view that our behaviour can be determined, however has little empirical support as it s based mainly
on case studies.
Biological approach is genetic deterministic. It s been found that there is some genetic link to
schizophrenia and depressions, meaning the genes are determining the future of the individual. This
has consequences such as maybe a prenatal test in the future could determine whether an unborn child
has the schizophrenia gene. Research into the human genome is producing increasing

The Only Crime Is Pride Critical Lens
Reflection Essay The quote Think: all men make mistakes, But a good man yields when he Knows his
course is wrong, And repairs the evil: The only Crime is pride, said by Teiresias. (This excerpt is from
Antigone, by the classical Greek playwright Sophocles.) This quote can mean several different things.
It all depends on how you interpret it. I believe that Teiresias is explaining that a good man knows
how to admit when he is wrong and tries to fix the problem that his mistake has caused. The only
crime is pride. Teiresias is demonstrating the negative side of a man and what bad guys do instead.
There is no crime in being wrong, however, when someone s pride is blinding them from admitting
their wrongs , then that is when someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are going to mess up. We were created to make mistakes so that way we could learn from them. It
is our job to fix our miscalculations. Letting your pride keep you from telling the truth will result in a
worse outcome than the original predicament. Teiresias makes it clear that it is alright to make
mistakes, but trying to cover the mistakes up is not the right thing to do. Think about it, every time
you choose to tell a lie you have to tell 1,000 more just to cover up the first lie. Wouldn t it just me
easier to tell the truth? It takes a good man to confess his wrongs, those who can not always find
themselves in bad predicaments all the time. Telling the truth is always the way to go. I use to have the
hardest time confessing the things that I do incorrectly. It was hard for me to accept that I could mess
up, but when I got older I started playing sports. Playing basketball and soccer you have to confess to
the things you did/do wrong or otherwise you will not be able to improve as a player. Now I am the
first to admit what I have done before my coaches even have the time to acknowledge what I did
wrong. This makes the situation easier and makes my coaches job simpler as

Access to Information
Access to Information The Widening Gap
The Digital Divide is a buzz phrase heard today in North America. It refers to the growing divide
between people who have and do not have access to information specifically via the internet. There
are various forms of digital divides but the one that is the most despair is the global digital divide
between industrialized countries and developing nations. Optimists feel that the internet and
information it carries brings potential to societies of developing nations but pessimists feel that the
internet offers no new potential for developing nations but rather it reinforces existing divisions of
inequality. Various positive and negative outlooks will be delved into in this essay to give a ... Show

The argument here is: how could the global digital divide be on the top of the agenda if these countries
are not even having their basic needs met? UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organization) emphasizes that most of the world s population lacks basic access to a
telephone, let alone a computer. If developing countries lack traditional media and information
communication technologies then it s quite a reality that the internet will just be another piece of
technology that creates a bigger gap between the information haves and have nots.
Although technology has always held potential as an engine of economic growth for transforming
developing nations, critics argue that in practice this promise has often mainly served to benefit the
industrialized worlds (Pippa, p6). The internet was originally an English text medium and although it
is now graphic it is fair to say that it is still very much a text based, therefore users also must be
literate. If basic literacy is a barrier to access most of the world poor could be excluded from the
information revolution even if computing equipment became more widely available (Pippa, p59). One
fifth of the world s population remains illiterate and the total rises to 40 percent or more of those
living in Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Southern Asia (Pippa, p59). Not only must an internet
user be literate but since most of the language on the internet is

Spread Of Violence
How Society Should Protect Itself Against Violence.
There are many theoretical ways in which society can protect itself against violence, ranging from
more violence to kindness. But, the best way a society can protect itself from violence is by limiting
the spread of violence. There are multiple ways to limit or stop the spread of violence. One way is to
not be hostile to violent people, stopping the amount of violence. A second is to limit the amount of
people doing a violent act. Lastly, to remove the original source of violence. By stopping or
decreasing the spread of violence, a society can be protected. The first way to limit violence is through
the idea of non complementary behavior. There is a pattern of human behavior, treating ... Show more

Violence is spreadable according to Gary Slutkin in a talk named Let s Treat Violence Like a
Contagious Disease. In his talk, he discusses the idea that violence is something that can be passed on
from person to person, that being raised in a violent situation or being shown violence can make a
person in turn, violent. He suggests that the way to limit this spread of violence is to first, remove the
person who began the violence. In removing that person, they are no longer spreading around
violence. Secondly, prevent the spread further by helping those who were exposed to violence to not
turn to violence themselves. Lastly, he claims that shifting the group norms from violence to
something not aggressive will result in a decrease in violence. According to Dr. Gary Slutkin, violence
can be stopped by limiting the spread as if it is something

The Role Of Response To Intervention In Special Education
The Roots of Response to Intervention
In 2002, the President s Commision on Excellence in Special Education report stated that many
students are placed in special education are instructional casualties and not students with disabilities.
They noted that almost half of all children in special education were identified as having a learning
disability, and this group has grown since 1976. 80% of those students with learning disabilities are
there simply because they haven t learned how to read. Thus, many children receiving special
education because they weren t taught to read, and few close the achievement gap (President s

learning and behavioral supports, where educators model respectful behaviors, support engagement

The Theory Of The Pdca Cycle
The PDCA cycle will be used to address the quality issue. P stands for plan, D stands for do, C stands
for check and A stands for act. Planning stage is when the patient s needs, opportunities and the root
cause of the issue are identified. The hand hygiene mechanisms have to be evaluated to identify the
origin of the problem. In Do stage, changes are made gradually to avoid interrupting the
organizational activities. Staffs are trained, problems and observations are documented, the solutions
are generated, implemented and data are analyzed. During the Check stage, the results are analyzed,
compared to the predicted outcome and summarize the lesson learned before drawing conclusions. In
Act stage, the changes are standardized while monitoring it, gaps are identified and PDCA cycle might
continue if the goal is not met.
The fundamental quality instruments that will be used are control chart and Pareto chart (Byrnes,
2014). Control chart will be used to identify how outcomes changes over a period of time. Pareto chart
will be used to show the occurrence frequency that identifies the number of contributors to the
problem which identifies the frequency errors.
Measurement Issues
If the HCWs are going to be observed for hand hygiene compliance, the awareness of the observation
can have effect on their behavior (The Joint Commission, 2016). Selecting staff for the observation
could cause labor intensive and costly too. This is because the HCO will have to hire new staff for the

Sandy Hook Shooting Thesis
On a tragic December day many families saw their children for the last time. They would soon find
out that their children s school had been the site of a school shooting. Adam Lanza killed many
innocent lives and society could possibly benefit from these harsh actions. What would you do if you
never saw your family again? All the families of the victims are still mourning after almost 2 years.
Although the Sandy Hook shooting was a tragic day in history, society can benefit from this.
Sandy Hook was a chaotic town on December 14, 2012 where gunman, Adam Lanza, shot and killed
twenty children and six staff members. Many family members of the victims are still mourning the
loss of their children and loved ones. Over 500 lives were affected after this tragedy (Gay). The author

Weapons of World War II Essay
Weapons of World War II Necessity is the mother of all invention , and so it was taught and learned
throughout all of World War 2. During World War 2 weaponry had to be upgraded and revised to fit
every situation. The engineers of the war had to constantly develop new and better weaponry. Much
like the engineers, the generals and officers were required to develop new ways of outsmarting their
enemy. Today most everything is computerized for battle situations, and much is known about all
other foreign defenses, but during the period of World War 2 there were many secrets, and a constant
distrust of some allies. Tanks were a huge aspect of ground fighting during the war. One of the first

The Panzer II and the General Sherman were generally equivalent, and could both take on all other
tanks. These tanks were the primary ground force for both Axis and Allied forces for about a year and
a half. At this time the U.S. produced the Great Sherman tank, and simultaneously the Axis forces
developed the Panzer III. The Great Sherman had reinforced 62mm armor. This tank also boasted a
75mm gun on a power turret. The Great Sherman was exceptionally maneuverable for its size, and
could travel 25 mph, which was very fast for a heavy tank model. Conversely the Panzer III had 2
layer 30mm armor, and was a very maneuverable medium tank with heavy firepower. The Panzer III
could easily defeat a Great Sherman in a close range battle, because of its rapid acceleration and fast
moving turret. The Panzer III was good, but soon the ally forces had to create a better tank. Nearing
the end of the war Ally forces finally fashioned a tank superior to the Panzer III. This tank boasted a
30mm turret gun, and a 75mm gun mounted on the hull; this tank was named the Grant Tank. It could
go through all other tanks like butter (Collier 90). This tank was so successful because of its extremely
thick reinforced steel plate. Though these tanks ruled the ground, the water was another story. Tanks
ruled most all the land fighting, but the seas were a different story. Ships and

INTRODUCTION In my paper I decided to write about Harley Davidson Motorcycles influence in
Saudi Arabia and the Arab nations in general. I selected this topic in regards to a comment that my
professor, Dr. Thomas Coyle, for MTML 4330 mention during one of his lectures. During Dr. Coyle
lecture he mention that Saudi Arabia woman used to dress as men to drive Harley Davidson
motorcycles. According to Dr. Coyle Arab woman used to dress as men to be able to be on their own

to dress as men so they couldn t be recognize as woman while riding and feeling free. Although, I

a brand that impacted the global community. Especially, since I couldn t imagine an American product
being sold in the part of the world where is presume most countries hate Americas beliefs and
lifestyle. It was even harder to imagine Harley Davidson being sold in Saudi Arabia which represent
freedom, adventure, and individuality. Totally opposite to what I imagine the Arab culture beliefs
towards American products would stand for. During my research I discovered that Harley Davidson it

Confucianism And Taoism
Often puzzled themselves, Chinese society finds it difficult to put a religious label on their belief
system, whether it be within the multiple sects of Buddhism, Confucianism, or Taoism. Throughout
the different beliefs and practices that each individual undertakes, one factor remains the same for all
and it is their base factor of belief in ancient wisdom. Although, it may seem like their strong tie to
ancient wisdom would equal them all believing in the same thing, this becomes contradictory from
one religion to the other due to the various sources of their ancient wisdom. Although, there are
different labels which entail different beliefs and practices, this essay will help shed light on how
Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism each bring key features that fuse together to form Chinese
popular religion and presents other factors that also influence this religion. Chinese popular religion,
consisting of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, divides into many rituals and obligations.
Success is centered on materialistic items, prosperity, and health (Corduan, 2012). With the belief that
humans are inherently good, Taoism focuses on the yin and yang of human life (Lecture 6, 2015).
Taoism places an emphasis on cosmic adjustment and harmony within the world. One must live their
life without set intentions and they must not receive pleasure from eating and breathing, because these
two aspects of life should be just that, essential aspects required to live. Taoism asserts that

Pest Analysis
INTRODUCTION
This chapter identifies the main external influences on the UK market for private security and fire
protection, using the four headings of a PEST analysis: political, economic, social and technological.
Where such influences have more than one dimension, they are considered under the heading that is
considered to be the most relevant.
POLITICAL FACTORS
The Terrorist Threat
Precautions against terrorist attacks have been stepped up since the events of 11th September 2001,
and there is strong demand for security services and equipment in the public sector. The UK, and
especially London, has been on a high level of alert since the war in Iraq. Some of the UK s export

The concept of Neighbourhood Wardens has been judged successful by the Office of the Deputy
Prime Minister
Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, which is helping to finance some of the schemes between 2000 and
2005.
Neighbourhood Wardens provide a uniformed, semi official presence in residential areas, with the aim
of improving the local quality of life. They can provide community safety and assist with
environmental improvements and housing management. Street Wardens are similar to Neighbourhood
Wardens, but they have a greater emphasis on environmental problems, such as litter, graffiti and dog
fouling. Their role is also to deter anti social behaviour, to reduce the fear of crime and to foster social
inclusion.
Minimum Wage and Working Time Legislation
The National Minimum Wage was introduced in April 1999, and a European
Directive on working hours and holidays came into force in October 1998.
The UK was able to introduce a voluntary opt out of the 48 hour week, but the UK regulations are to
be tightened and opinions seem to be divided as to whether this is to the long term benefit or detriment
of the guarding sector.
Outsourcing of Police and Public Sector Security Work
A growing proportion of police and public sector security work is being outsourced to private security
firms, and this `civilianisation is expected to continue. Private firms already have a well established

issues like racism. It is a story that teaches us to not be too quick to react. It teaches us that we should
not yearn for the past, and aim for a future where we will not have anything to yearn for, and it is one
of the reasons I continue to love fiction to this day. Envy laid on the ground in his parasitic form after

2. Usage of sugarcane bagasse ash as a replacement to Portland cement in concrete
The target economic sectors of the proposed research are the sugar industry and the construction
industry. The sugar industry will be directly affected, since the main goal of this research project is to
develop a sugarcane bagasse ash based product that can be used as an additive for concrete mixes.
Due to the known properties and chemical composition of sugarcane bagasse, it is expected that this
new product will be competitive with fly ash in terms of improving the properties of concrete mixes.
The newly added economic value of bagasse ash may also make it economically advantageous to
burning the entire stock of bagasse fiber for electricity production beyond the needs of the sugar mills.
The local construction industry will be indirectly affected by the availability of an additive for
concrete production with a lower cost and similar properties to fly ash. This new bagasse ash based
product is expected to reduce the construction costs of projects requiring large amounts of concrete
(e.g., foundations, concrete bridges), thus, leading to a potential increase in the number of construction
projects per year. The results of this research will have a significant impact on the economic
development of US regions where the sugar industry is present, such as Florida, Texas, and Hawaii

Melanie Daniels decides to take some birds to Mitch s house in Bodega Bay. When she arrives she is

Alfred Hitchcock had to abide by the Hays code in order to make the film worthy of release in
America. Compared to today s Hollywood censorship code the hays code seems extremely strict. Most
of the successful may have had to lose some of their most effective and audience attracting scenes in
order to be released at the time of the Hays code.
The following are some of rules of the Hays Code:
No explicit Nudity may be shown.
Audience should not be made to sympathise with wrong doers.
A wrong doer should not be shown to get away with any wrong doing.
In addition, blasphemy and bad language (even words such as Damn or Hell ) were forbidden as was
excessive, lustful kissing and embracing: which was considered totally unacceptable.
Alfred Hitchcock managed to keep within all these boundaries yet he was able to produce films which
audiences of today, when rules are far more relaxed, find shocking.
There is no nudity shown. Even when Marion is showering in the shower scene no part of her body
was shown that was not necessarily needed. Jus to be safe she wore a skin suit so that Alfred could

example of how a well respected, strong willed man can be changed due to deceit and lies. His
reputation and control in the play moves between two extremes as the events continue shifting from
confident accuser to helper of the accused. Hale s arrival during Act I in Salem depicts him as

stutter suggests that he is reluctant to reply to Proctor but ultimately he agrees. This quote reveals to us
that Hale is questioning the confessions of the girls for the first time. During this period we see Hale s
belief in the girl s story beginning to change as he begins to support Proctor. Hale s loss of control is
also demonstrated in Act II through his lack of knowledge on the current situation. When Cheever
stated that Elizabeth has been charged, Hale had no awareness of this accusation and has to ask
Cheever When were she charged? unlike the beginning of the play when everyone asked Hale
questions. Rebecca s charge also surprises Hale which once again proves that he is no longer in
control of the situation like he was at the beginning. Hale further questions the actions of the court and
the genuineness of the accusations here as he cannot believe that such supposedly innocent and holy
people are being accused. Hale s actions are very indefinite and he speaks in great uncertainty which
reflects his loss of control and completely contrasts the manner in which he spoke towards the
beginning of the play. His uncertainty is further proof of him beginning to question the justice of the
events and his beliefs. Once again, we see Hale s lack of control and loss of reputation in Act III.

The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory, the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with. There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values. Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by using the following equation: Worth = Rewards Costs When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative. The special character traits of some of the letters gives this typeface a formal and traditional style with an artistic flair of more ornamental design. I chose this font as a representation because it holds many similar characteristics to Times New Roman, which almost everyone is familiar with and/or has used. The letter Q caught my attention, as well as the individual design of the numbers to accompany the letters as shown by the 16 towards the middle of the image. Hoefler Co. is consistently creating typefaces we use on a regular basis, and may not realize come from such a large company. I feel that typeface is one of the least recognized areas of design, which is ironic because without font styles, graphic design would almost be non existent. This is what Tom Sloan would like to see more of; problem is it is a large range to control. We are talking about regulating prices for wholesalers and retailers. Not to mention that competition is natural, everyone wants to be the one that makes the sale. The drug peddlers are also a huge part of the distribution problem. I think that what could really help would be for the government to pass laws and distribution and to make everyone go through them to prove they are complying, maybe by having to turn over financials quarterly for review and being fined if they don t comply. Without help, it think the best thing to do would be to regulate who you sale to and how much you sell for, to regulate your own distribution by controlling your selling prices and customers. Also, I think it would help to properly market your product. Drug peddlers won t really have a leg to stand on with a reputable company if they feel they don t offer a good product, place you a head above. 3. The decision to invade North Africa reflected the triumph of British strategic arguments over those of the Americans as the Americans were pushing for an invasion in northern France as early as 1942. American military leadership, however, was not sold on the logic or necessity of a North African campaign. General George C. Marshall, the architect of American military strategy, wanted no part of a US commitment to a Mediterranean campaign. The decision to commit American troops in North Africa came directly from President Roosevelt, who overruled the advice of Marshall and his military advisers on this point. b. As the operation began, the Americans and British hoped the French would not resist the Allied landings, and further expected French forces in North Africa would rejoin the anti Axis alliance. In order to facilitate these hopes, the Allies designated General Dwight D. Eisenhower to command the invasion forces. With an American general leading the forces, the Allies sought to restrict any resistance from Anglophobic French officials and officers in the areas around the invasion beaches and ports. Despite such measures, however, the French did put up some level of resistance at nearly every landing point. For example, Skinner (1938) argues that since people are the result of their conditioning, and will get conditioned by their upbringing and environments anyway, we should control people s upbringing and environments as much as possible to ensure that their conditioning is positive. He suggested that positive and negative reinforcement should be applied to this task. Unlike Skinner, Lorenz (1963) says that unconscious forces determine our behaviour. These forces are built into human nature by evolution. However these forces are quite unpleasant. For example, Lorenz holds that aggression and territoriality and sexual competition are innate instinctive drives. Hence, we are destined to want unconsciously to dominate others by violence, whether we consciously want to or not. Similarly Freud s psychoanalytic theory of personality in the psychodynamic approach, suggests that adult behaviour is determined by innate drives and early experiences. This gives support to the view that our behaviour can be determined, however has little empirical support as it s based mainly on case studies. Biological approach is genetic deterministic. It s been found that there is some genetic link to schizophrenia and depressions, meaning the genes are determining the future of the individual. Thus, many children receiving special education because they weren t taught to read, and few close the achievement gap (President s Commision on Excellence in Special Education, 2002). • 27. The Theory Of The Pdca Cycle The PDCA cycle will be used to address the quality issue. P stands for plan, D stands for do, C stands for check and A stands for act. Planning stage is when the patient s needs, opportunities and the root cause of the issue are identified. The hand hygiene mechanisms have to be evaluated to identify the origin of the problem. In Do stage, changes are made gradually to avoid interrupting the organizational activities. Staffs are trained, problems and observations are documented, the solutions are generated, implemented and data are analyzed. During the Check stage, the results are analyzed, compared to the predicted outcome and summarize the lesson learned before drawing conclusions. In Act stage, the changes are standardized while monitoring it, gaps are identified and PDCA cycle might continue if the goal is not met. The fundamental quality instruments that will be used are control chart and Pareto chart (Byrnes, 2014). Control chart will be used to identify how outcomes changes over a period of time. Pareto chart will be used to show the occurrence frequency that identifies the number of contributors to the problem which identifies the frequency errors. Measurement Issues If the HCWs are going to be observed for hand hygiene compliance, the awareness of the observation can have effect on their behavior (The Joint Commission, 2016). Selecting staff for the observation could cause labor intensive and costly too. This is because the HCO will have to hire new staff for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They would soon find out that their children s school had been the site of a school shooting. Adam Lanza killed many innocent lives and society could possibly benefit from these harsh actions. What would you do if you never saw your family again? All the families of the victims are still mourning after almost 2 years. Although the Sandy Hook shooting was a tragic day in history, society can benefit from this. Sandy Hook was a chaotic town on December 14, 2012 where gunman, Adam Lanza, shot and killed twenty children and six staff members. Many family members of the victims are still mourning the loss of their children and loved ones. Over 500 lives were affected after this tragedy (Gay). During World War 2 weaponry had to be upgraded and revised to fit every situation. The engineers of the war had to constantly develop new and better weaponry. Much like the engineers, the generals and officers were required to develop new ways of outsmarting their enemy. Today most everything is computerized for battle situations, and much is known about all other foreign defenses, but during the period of World War 2 there were many secrets, and a constant distrust of some allies. Tanks were a huge aspect of ground fighting during the war. One of the first tanks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Panzer II and the General Sherman were generally equivalent, and could both take on all other tanks. These tanks were the primary ground force for both Axis and Allied forces for about a year and a half. At this time the U.S. produced the Great Sherman tank, and simultaneously the Axis forces developed the Panzer III. The Great Sherman had reinforced 62mm armor. This tank also boasted a 75mm gun on a power turret. The Great Sherman was exceptionally maneuverable for its size, and could travel 25 mph, which was very fast for a heavy tank model. Conversely the Panzer III had 2 layer 30mm armor, and was a very maneuverable medium tank with heavy firepower. The Panzer III could easily defeat a Great Sherman in a close range battle, because of its rapid acceleration and fast moving turret. The Panzer III was good, but soon the ally forces had to create a better tank. Nearing the end of the war Ally forces finally fashioned a tank superior to the Panzer III. This tank boasted a 30mm turret gun, and a 75mm gun mounted on the hull; this tank was named the Grant Tank. It could go through all other tanks like butter (Collier 90). This tank was so successful because of its extremely thick reinforced steel plate. Though these tanks ruled the ground, the water was another story. Tanks ruled most all the land fighting, but the seas were a different story. Ships and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION In my paper I decided to write about Harley Davidson Motorcycles influence in Saudi Arabia and the Arab nations in general. I selected this topic in regards to a comment that my professor, Dr. Thomas Coyle, for MTML 4330 mention during one of his lectures. During Dr. Coyle lecture he mention that Saudi Arabia woman used to dress as men to drive Harley Davidson motorcycles. According to Dr. Coyle Arab woman used to dress as men to be able to be on their own since it is customary for woman to be escorted by a man of her family at all times. Arab woman used to dress as men so they couldn t be recognize as woman while riding and feeling free. Although, I couldn t find any specific source about Arab woman riding Harley Davidsons motorcycles it did brought up allot of questions. First of all, it brought up to my attention how Harley Davidson has been a brand that impacted the global community. Especially, since I couldn t imagine an American product being sold in the part of the world where is presume most countries hate Americas beliefs and lifestyle. It was even harder to imagine Harley Davidson being sold in Saudi Arabia which represent freedom, adventure, and individuality. Totally opposite to what I imagine the Arab culture beliefs towards American products would stand for. During my research I discovered that Harley Davidson it s a very popular commodity in the Arab nation and the world not only the United States. I honestly imagine that Harley Davidson was ... • 31. Confucianism And Taoism Often puzzled themselves, Chinese society finds it difficult to put a religious label on their belief system, whether it be within the multiple sects of Buddhism, Confucianism, or Taoism. Throughout the different beliefs and practices that each individual undertakes, one factor remains the same for all and it is their base factor of belief in ancient wisdom. Although, it may seem like their strong tie to ancient wisdom would equal them all believing in the same thing, this becomes contradictory from one religion to the other due to the various sources of their ancient wisdom. Although, there are different labels which entail different beliefs and practices, this essay will help shed light on how Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism each bring key features that fuse together to form Chinese popular religion and presents other factors that also influence this religion. Chinese popular religion, consisting of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, divides into many rituals and obligations. Success is centered on materialistic items, prosperity, and health (Corduan, 2012). With the belief that humans are inherently good, Taoism focuses on the yin and yang of human life (Lecture 6, 2015). Taoism places an emphasis on cosmic adjustment and harmony within the world. One must live their life without set intentions and they must not receive pleasure from eating and breathing, because these two aspects of life should be just that, essential aspects required to live. Where such influences have more than one dimension, they are considered under the heading that is considered to be the most relevant. POLITICAL FACTORS The Terrorist Threat Precautions against terrorist attacks have been stepped up since the events of 11th September 2001, and there is strong demand for security services and equipment in the public sector. They can provide community safety and assist with environmental improvements and housing management. Street Wardens are similar to Neighbourhood Wardens, but they have a greater emphasis on environmental problems, such as litter, graffiti and dog fouling. Their role is also to deter anti social behaviour, to reduce the fear of crime and to foster social inclusion. It deals with small, more intimate issues like doubt of your loved ones, but also reflects on international issues like racism. It is a story that teaches us to not be too quick to react. It teaches us that we should not yearn for the past, and aim for a future where we will not have anything to yearn for, and it is one of the reasons I continue to love fiction to this day. Usage of sugarcane bagasse ash as a replacement to Portland cement in concrete The target economic sectors of the proposed research are the sugar industry and the construction industry. The sugar industry will be directly affected, since the main goal of this research project is to develop a sugarcane bagasse ash based product that can be used as an additive for concrete mixes. Due to the known properties and chemical composition of sugarcane bagasse, it is expected that this new product will be competitive with fly ash in terms of improving the properties of concrete mixes. The newly added economic value of bagasse ash may also make it economically advantageous to burning the entire stock of bagasse fiber for electricity production beyond the needs of the sugar mills. The local construction industry will be indirectly affected by the availability of an additive for concrete production with a lower cost and similar properties to fly ash. This new bagasse ash based product is expected to reduce the construction costs of projects requiring large amounts of concrete (e.g., foundations, concrete bridges), thus, leading to a potential increase in the number of construction projects per year. The results of this research will have a significant impact on the economic development of US regions where the sugar industry is present, such as Florida, Texas, and Hawaii ... Therefore, Mr. Bernard was more a free rein leader : he would allow subordinates to make decisions and had no relationship with the subordinates. Differences in personality types in business (according to Leigh) : Mr. Bernard seems to have a hard changer personality in the fact that he believes in tradition, following rules and sees a prescribed way of doing things. This probably comes from his studies. The films, to which I will be referring are Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963) , I will illustrate the techniques, which the director (Alfred Hitchcock) used to appeal to specific audiences. Melanie Daniels decides to take some birds to Mitch s house in Bodega Bay. When she arrives she is attacked by a gull however after this accident the attacks become more frequent and seemingly more co ordinated. Alfred Hitchcock had to abide by the Hays code in order to make the film worthy of release in America. Compared to today s Hollywood censorship code the hays code seems extremely strict. Most of the successful may have had to lose some of their most effective and audience attracting scenes in order to be released at the time of the Hays code. The following are some of rules of the Hays Code: No explicit Nudity may be shown. Audience should not be made to sympathise with wrong doers. A wrong doer should not be shown to get away with any wrong doing. In addition, blasphemy and bad language (even words such as Damn or Hell ) were forbidden as was excessive, lustful kissing and embracing: which was considered totally unacceptable. Alfred Hitchcock managed to keep within all these boundaries yet he was able to produce films which audiences of today, when rules are far more relaxed, find shocking. There is no nudity shown. During this period we see Hale s belief in the girl s story beginning to change as he begins to support Proctor. Hale s loss of control is also demonstrated in Act II through his lack of knowledge on the current situation. When Cheever stated that Elizabeth has been charged, Hale had no awareness of this accusation and has to ask Cheever When were she charged? unlike the beginning of the play when everyone asked Hale questions. Rebecca s charge also surprises Hale which once again proves that he is no longer in control of the situation like he was at the beginning. Hale further questions the actions of the court and the genuineness of the accusations here as he cannot believe that such supposedly innocent and holy people are being accused. Hale s actions are very indefinite and he speaks in great uncertainty which reflects his loss of control and completely contrasts the manner in which he spoke towards the beginning of the play.
