Slaughterhouse Five And Its Depictions Of Key World War II...

Slaughterhouse Five and its Depiction of Key World War II Events Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse
Five is an interesting but complicated novel about a man bouncing through time and space. The
novel is a satire with elements of science fiction, although Kurt Vonnegutincorporates into the plot
some of his actual experiences as a World War II soldier and prisoner of war. Vonnegut s lead
character and protagonist is Billy Pilgrim, a person who time travels throughout the novel.
Vonnegut brings the readers along on Billy s wild and unpredictable journey which goes in several
different directions. While this complicates the story, Vonnegut keeps returning to the theme of war
by returning Billy back to his time as a soldier during World War II. Vonnegut devotes significant
portions of Slaughterhouse Five to the war theme, capturing the zeitgeist of World War II through
vivid and highly accurate depictions of key events such as the Battle of the Bulge, the use of
boxcars to transport prisoners of war, and the bombing of Dresden by the Allied forces. By
transporting Billy back to the Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut effectively captures the harsh realities
of this significant and vitally important World War II event. Early in the novel, Billy is thrust into
his regiment when it was in the process of being destroyed by the Germans in the famous Battle of
the Bulge (Vonnegut 40). Billy finds himself in the middle of this difficult

Persuasive Essay On Grammys
Adrian Pedron Mrs. Gonzalez Rojas English 11 Accelerated 10 April, 2017 The Grammys Every
year, the most successful musicians across the globe gather for the Grammy Awards. Ever since
1959, the world has tuned into their televisions to get a glimpse of the most popular awards show
in the United States. Recently in 2016, the Grammys committee changed a very controversial rule.
Traditionally artists that were unsigned to a record label were unable to be nominated for an
award. The new rule, however now allows unsigned artists to be nominated for a Grammy. This
used to be a controversial topic due to the fact that unsigned artists are making music just like
everyone else and deserve the same opportunities as everybody else. Unsigned... Show more content

A newer kind of music app has changed all of that. This new app is called SoundCloud. This app
allows young artists to post music and receive worldwide attention. SoundCloud has benefited
tremendously due to the new Grammy rule. The Grammys has opened up a whole new world
for both SoundCloud and unsigned artists. In this statement made by Bill Freimuth, The
Grammys aren t just peer awarded, they re peer driven, he reiterated the idea that unsigned
artists are humble and deserve to be awarded for their work. Another big reason for this rule
change is the recent petitions made by several artists that have raised concerns about this issue.
A petition was started in 2016 by a group of independent artists as you may be able to conclude,
they got enough signatures to raise awareness for this topic. This quote made by Bill Freimuth,
Streaming is here and probably here to stay, admits that the Grammys need to be more lenient on
certain rules. Unsigned artists should be able to participate in the Grammys because it engages a
wider audience and gives opportunities to new artists. Musicians are becoming more and more
diverse every day. The Grammys eventually realized that their rules were outdated and needed to
be changed. The way music is being made is becoming very controversial because many people
don t understand that artists don t need to be signed to be

The Perfection Of Anorexia Nervosa
The life of a young girl taken by the pressures to be perfect happens all too often in today s
society. It is not uncommon for a teen girl to diet, purge, or even stop eating all together to
achieve the standards of beauty that the world has forced upon her. Most of the time these
pressures cannot be escaped because they are pushed onto a girl from the time she is born and
sometimes she does not even realize the brainwashing. There is too much pressure put on girls
to have a perfect body because it is impossible to be perfect, girls are developing eating disorders,
and being imperfect is resulting in bullying and peer pressure. Everyone has his or her own idea of
perfection and to form a body to match all of these ideas would be impossible... Show more content

As many as one in every six females who have anorexia may die from it, this is the highest
mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder (Kalodner). There are two types of anorexia known as
restricting and binge eating/purging, restricting anorexia is characterized by a girl avoiding food
and over exercising, during the binge eating and purging cycle a girl will over eat then cause
themselves to vomit or use the bathroom more by sticking objects in their throat to vomit or
misusing laxatives, diuretics, or enemas. Most people see the binge eating and purging cycle as
bulimia but that is false, if a person is of low weight has not had a menstrual cycle in three months,
she meets the criteria for anorexia (Kalodner). Bulimia Nervosa better known as bulimia can be
identified by recurrent episodes of binge eating, inappropriate ways to prevent weight gain, binge
eating and weight gain prevention occur regularly, self evaluation of body size and shape, and it
does not occur exclusively. Bulimia is usually caused by depression and the fear of being fat
known as procrescophobia, the two types of bulimia are purging and non purging. Purging consists
of binge eating then using medications or other objects to cause vomit or diarrhea, non purging
includes fasting for long periods of time and avoiding food. Serious physical consequences come
from these eating disorders, parts of the body that may be affected are skin, salivary glands, teeth,
hair, muscle, heart, liver, kidneys, bones, stomach and uterus. (Frissell and Harney) Emotional
consequences occur like depression, anxiety, irritability, concentration and memory, physical
consequences can be weight gain, swelling, high blood pressure,

Fear Of Manipulating A Spinal Injury
Focusing my attention back on the PL, I moved to check the one place unseen and began
removing his helmet. His head was protected, but tilting his chin back was one thing I didn t
want to do for fear of manipulating a spinal injury. It also is what finally exposed and opened the
small hole in his throat from an apparent piece of shrapnel and he began to bleed profusely. I
immediately called the medic away from one of the less seriously wounded to help me with the
bleeding. I packed the wound but loosely, not wanting to interfere with what was left of his airway
and then pulled him up to my lap so I could maintain pressure on the wound. He was still dying.
Running out of options, I checked his airway again and manipulated his tongue... Show more

Shortly thereafter, he regained life signs and consciousness, attempting to sit up even. I called
for a litter and directed he be secured and ready to move, meanwhile contacting the Command
Post to provide a situation report and moving to check on other casualties at the CCP. At this
time I had twelve that needed evacuation and eight more walking wounded. There were barely
enough lucid Soldiers to pull security, but my biggest problem was that the QRF had not
arrived yet. Searching for an improvised solution for the PL who I believed was expectant at
this point, I saw an Afghan National Army truck parked nearby with a driver who seemed as
though he was trying to help. I directed that the PL be loaded onto the back of the pickup truck
with two ambulatory Soldiers who could pull security on both the surroundings and the driver. I
sent the medic to monitor his airway. The interpreter conveyed my directions to the driver to take
the Soldiers straight to our Entry Control Point at the AP, and I instructed the PL s security to take
the vehicle by any means necessary if the driver did not follow directions. Our Platoon Leader was
now conscious and responsive, and I told him where he was going and why. Less than fifteen
minutes after the attack, the PL and his fight for life was on his way to next level care. As the
truck pulled off our 3rd Platoon arrived as QRF.

Running Back And Delight End Case Study
Positional Scarcity: The Running Back and Tight End positions suffer from the highest degrees
of variance between the top 5 players and the remaining players at their respective positions. The
drop off in fantasy point production between the top and middle tier Running Backs and Tight
Ends is dramatic and securing one player Running Back and Tight End in the first few rounds is
imperative. Once the Rob Gronkowski s, Jimmy Grahams and the Eddie Lacy s are all off the
board you will be acquiring players that will not close to the same point production during most
weeks. Therefore, productive players at Running Back and Tight End are the most sought after
early in the draft. While at other positons the difference between the best player at a position and
the 10th best player won t have the same weekly point variance.... Show more content on

However, you can draft a middle tier Quarterback in the later rounds of the draft and only see up
to a 5 weekly point differential from the upper tier. When comparing the elite Quarterbacks to a
Quarterback ranked in the top 10 to 15, the 5 point differential may even be smaller at times and
comparing your 18 point per week player to the elite 23 point performer, the 5 points will not
dramatically change the final outcome of your league. Since in most leagues, owners will only
draft 1 Quarterback through the first 12 rounds of the draft, and assuming that you partake in a

Data And Methodology For Research
DATA AND METHODOLOGY
In this chapter, data collected for analysis will be discussed. The paper will continue with
discussion of the variables included in the sample. Relevance of the variables for the research will
be assessed basing on theoretical and empirical evidence. Sample data description
Building on the research of previous studies in the area of credit risk, this paper investigates the US
corporate bond markets from January 2006 to December 2013. Data on bonds and issuers is
extracted from Bloomberg database. According to objectives of the study, the firms, which issued
corporate bonds, are chosen in financial and industrial sectors.
To identify the corporate bonds that are relevant for research, the following criteria are applied
in this study: Bonds are issued by publicly listed corporations in financial and industrial sectors.
Bonds are US denominated and issuers of bonds are officially registered in the US. It is
implemented to narrow the scope of this study only to the US bonds. Bonds are actively traded.
Bonds that matured before December 2013 are not included in the sample. Bonds that do not have
option like features or any other special properties. This means that sinkable, convertible, puttable
and callable bonds, and corporate bonds with floating rates, inflation indexed bonds are excluded.
To enter the sample, data on bond must provide at least 25 months of consecutive observations.

Hamlet Critique
In Shakespeare s Hamlet, the complexities that come with actions and the psychological weight of
the pillar of human uncertainty are brought to light. This parallels both the thoughts and reflections
shown in a critique of the play by Harold Goddard and a radio program depicting a prisons
production of Hamlet, The American life: Act V. The critique by Goddard, simply dissects and
divulges the connections Goddard believes to be crucial to gain a deeper understanding of
Hamlet. Act V, does not simply speak on the text, rather it is a piece that follows a high security
prison s production of Hamlet s fifth act. The program mostly focuses on the inmates and how the
production both gives them purpose in their life and how the play emotionally touches them.
These prisoners find themselves relating to one of the main themes in Shakespeare s play, regret,
on a level that was almost inconceivable to them before their involvement in the production. Due
to these prisoners being incarcerated, every single day they are reminded of the things they did
wrong and are limited freedoms because of it. However, the production does not alleviate this pain
or make them feel better about themselves, but rather the opposite. Hamlet is dark in nature, and
often propounds the idea of yearning for the past and the vast complexity of choices. Most of these
prisoners are now equipped with one of the wisest realizations one could make; nothing is certain,
all choices have possibles consequences and

Who Do Not Study The Past, The Great American Philosopher...
Title
Melissa Lichota
Those who do not study the past, the great American philosopher and historian George Santayana
once observed, are condemned to repeat it. (Schmidt, 1) This is not only true for the present we
live in today, but is held true for the future tomorrow. In 2010 Haitiwas hit with traumatic
earthquake that has still left 150,000 people not re housed and live in tents. It was devastating
because a history of adverse social conditions and extreme ecological fragility primed Port au
Prince for massive loss of life and destruction when the ground began shaking on January 12th.
(Farmer, 3) The history of Haiti has caused the country a great struggle to rebuild after the
earthquake and the 1825 settlement between Haiti and France, the occupation of Haiti from 1915 to
1934, and the Duvalier dictatorships from 1957 to 1986 events prove that history has a substantial
impact upon the future after a devastating natural disaster.
Haiti s independence created new difficulties and led to a spiral of independent debt. The
prospect of slave rebellion terrified every slave holding elite and now their own restless slaves had
a bloody example to emulate. (Phillips, 4) Other colonies relied heavily on slave labor and could
not risk losing property, which resulted in Haiti being quarantined to hide the independence. Slave
plantations in Haiti were French owned, but when the country became independent the French lost
property, or slaves, and forced

Primary Causes Of Wrongful Confessions
In societies, many institutional injustices exist, whether they be avoidable or not. One injustice in
particular that is very traumatizing are wrongful convictions meaning an innocent being wrongfully
convicted by any court of law. Now, wrongful convictions is one the most corrupted aspects of
Canada s justice system to date. Which is why it is integral to understand the causes in order to
find solutions, there are a plethora of causes, most notably false confessions, pleabargains and
systemic discrimination. One of the prime causes of wrongful convictions are false confessions.
Somebody admits to a crime he is not responsible for. A confessionis one of the strongest evidence
that can arise in a criminal trial, thus when one arises whether it be true or false, it is taken into
consideration with a substantial weight. A statistic from the innocence project found that 16% of
cases where the victim was sentenced on the basis of DNA evidence, there was a false
confession that accompanied it. This shows that perhaps the individual was pressured or
threatened to give a false confession otherwise the police will aggravate the sentence. Similarly, 1
out of 4 people who were sentenced by DNA evidence made a false confession or incriminating
statement. This statistic shows that when the the accused is threatened with DNA evidence, it
creates so much pressure that they cave and accept a plea deal and make a false confession. In the
case of Marty Tankleff, he was wrongfully

The Affect Of Music Piracy On The Music Industry
Samuel LeGrand Mrs. Turner English 1301.85 11/19/15 Music Piracy and the Impact It Can
Make on the Music Industry For over a decade now music piracy has threatened the music
industry by costing it money, and stealing from it. Peer to peer file sharing has been somewhat
of a red flag for the music industry ever since Napster, a once highly used file swapping network,
came into the picture. Napster and the websites similar to it made it possible for people to trade
files downloaded onto their computer through the internet for free. What that means is that
someone who had downloaded the new NSYNC album could give it away to however many
people could access it and no one had to pay a penny. The big deal about that is the fact that the

Explore the claim that a consumer society is always a throw away society.
In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw
away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided
societies. It may make us feel like we fit in buying new gadgets and clothes and also give us that
sense of belonging but we don t take into account what happens to the old items and packaging.
People do not want to look at the problems caused. I will use this essay with the evidence I have

We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it
is made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even
children in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is
said to be less than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large
stores like Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said
to be working 60 to 90 hours every week for as little as ВЈ17 per month. (Making social lives
pg.88) The workers in the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the
factories were to close and business was took elsewhere.
The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having
more choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work
but now that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which
ends with people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old
ones being thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models.
Mobile phones bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up
with the trend and because they want the newest gadgets on the street. Pcs have changed to laptops
which gives the pc no home except out to be collected on bin day. This causes a problem

I think that in order to be a successful athletic director, one needs to keep the functional areas of
sport management in mind. These four areas include: planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating
(Masteralexis, Barr, Hums, 2015). The first aspect of planning is something that athletic directors
need to be very good at doing. An athletic director needs to have both short and long term goals. If
I were to become an athletic director, I would want to make sure all of the student athletes received
the proper tools to succeed both on and off the court. I would make sure each student athlete,
scholarship and non scholarship, had a tutor available to them at all times. I know that the
University of Florida allows each athlete to have a tutor, however, it is optional. The reason that
it is optional is because it is something that is enforced by the coaches. Therefore, I would make it
a university athletic department policy that all coaches must force their student athletes to use a
tutor. I would want to make sure each athlete used their tutor to their advantage so they could be
aware of what was going on in the classroom. This would also allow students to not be stressed
about their studies, and that way they have a proper balance between their sport and education. It
is a huge goal of the NCAA for their students to have a proper balance in life, therefore I think
through this plan I could implement that balance. In order to make this possible

Quinceaner Culture, Culture And Traditions In American...
Coming of age birthdays exist throughout many cultures and have evolved in different ways
depending on the region or religion they came from. Besides the traditional American sweet 16 ,
there are other very popular traditions that are diversified by culture, religion, and by the day it
takes place. Americans celebrate many of these different cultural birthdays because anyone who
lives in the US has the right to practice any religion they see fit. Most birthdays have very similar
features such as giving gifts to the man and, or woman of honor. There are also many differences
in these traditions, some of which are considerably more family based than others, such as the
Quinceanera .
A Quinceanera is a Catholic, Hispanic, celebration for when a Hispanic girl turns 15. The 15 year
old receives a special birthday that represents them transforming from a girl into a woman. This
tradition was brought to Mexico by Spanish conquerors and has remained a tradition of South
America and Mexico ever since. It is only practiced in Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central, South, and
North American cultures. It is a very formal event; so formal in fact that most of the celebration is
treated like a wedding. It is so wedding like that most Quinceanera parties gets three layered
wedding cakes for this non wedding tradition. The celebration always has pink and white being the
main colors of it. as both the the dress the woman of the day is supposed to wear and the party

European Military Changes From 1789 To 1914
During the time period of 1789 to 1914, several changes began to occur within the European
military. Leaders began changing their techniques on how they would approach battles, placement
of their men, what kind of equipment they would utilize, along with their means of transportation,
how would they communicate with others, along with several other changes. During this time
period, the use of technology began to increase which had allowed for the battles to become easier
for those using the new technology. There were three important changes that had occurred in the
European militarywhich included: transportation with the service of trains and railways, the newest
weapons such as the breech loading rifles, and communication by using telegraphs. With these three
inventions, this had changed the outcome on wars and battles for the days to come.
Transportation was a necessity during the battles and wars. Transportation that was done by
horses or by foot, made for a slower and inefficient way to arrive at the planned location. Also, if
the troops needed extra supplies, it must come by foot and that left room attacks where they were
not prepared or have enough equipment to fight adequately. When trains and railroads were created

Evolution Of Human Culture Developed Based On Our Environment
The earth is an ever evolving planet in the universe that has changed dramatically since the
beginning of time. Physically people have seen, measured, and recorded changes in land mass and

such as the Pangea Theory or the Bering Strait theory have given insight into how humanculture
developed based on our environment. Through the study of history, people can see the course of the

Samsung Marketing

Samsung Electronics Company: Global Marketing Operations
Company Background and Strategy
The Samsung conglomerate s roots dated back to 1938 when the company produced agricultural
products. In the 1970s, the company focused on shipbuilding, chemicals, and textiles. Samsung
Electronics Company (SEC)2 was founded in 1969, primarily as a low cost manufacturer of black
and white televisions. In the 1970s, Samsung acquired a semiconductor business, thereby setting
the stage for future growth in electronics. Throughout the 1980s, SEC supplied global markets with
massive quantities of commodity products such as televisions, VCRs, and microwave ovens. The
company sold its products to original equipment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Exhibit 1 shows the growth in revenues and profits between 1997 and 2002.) By 2003, Samsung
was the most widely held stock among all emerging market companies due in part to relatively
transparent disclosure practices. Over half of Samsung shares were held outside Korea, and the
stock price had increased tenfold between 1997 and 2002. The company had a market capitalization
of $41 billion in 2002, making it the largest Asian electronics company by this measure. SEC
Chairman Kun Hee Lee led the transformation. In 1993, Lee launched the new management
initiative, which set out to remake Samsung as a global business leader. It was the changes that
followed from this initiative that saved the company during the Asian financial crisis and
streamlined the company into a profitable enterprise. Throughout the 1990s, Lee demanded the
rethinking of key fundamentals and set the stage for long term commitment to investment in
innovative, premium products and brand value. Following the chairman s new management
initiative and the appointment of Yun Jong Yong as vice chairman in 1997, the company pursued a
bold combination of strategies, many of which seemingly contradicted conventional wisdom.
Vertical Integration
Instead of outsourcing production to external suppliers and thereby transferring the capital
investment and inventory risk, Samsung remained committed to manufacturing as a core

The Theme of Mental Health Illustrated in Woolf s Mrs....
Mrs. Dalloway , by Virginia Woolf is a derivative text of The Hours , written by Michael
Cunningham. The novels both share an important theme of mental health. The circumstances of
mental health are commonly sympathetic, and empathetic. The characters Septimus and Clarissa in
Mrs. Dalloway and Richard, Laura Brown, and Virginia Woolfin The Hoursshow the strongest
symbols for this theme. Most of the problems and treatments these characters face are in direct
result of the age they live in. Both novels express a relationship between era, illnesses and
treatments. The clearest illness was that of Septimus, in Mrs. Dalloway . Septimus suffered from
shell shock, a result of the First World War. This illness in turn brought about an

On the other hand, the sinister Sir William Bradshaw wishes Septimus were in a rest home and to
undergo re programming. Bradshaw s awareness is especially revealing of the attitude of some
doctors at the time:
Health we must have; and health is proportion; so that when a man comes into your room and says
he is Christ... ...and has a message... ...and threatens... ...to kill himself, you invoke proportion;
order rest in bed; rest in solitude; silence and rest; rest without friends, without books; without
messages; six months rest... (Page 110).
Woolf s own experiences could be reflected off of those of Bradshaw s thoughts. Woolf portrays
doctors to be useless. The delusions of Septimus are shown through Woolf s characteristic stream of
consciousness style.
Once you fall, Septimus repeated to himself, human nature is on you. Holmes and Bradshaw are on
you. They scour the desert. They fly screaming into the wilderness. The rack and the thumbscrew
are applied. Human nature is remorseless. (Page 108).
Through this quote, the reader is able to see the way in which Septimus thoughts are portrayed. The
thoughts of Septimus show him to be a helpless victim. When understanding the way Septimus is
being treated by the doctor, the reader can not help but feel sympathy for him. Woolf s use of
stream of consciousness is that of cautiousness and delicacy. In The Hours Richard, a gay poet

FUBP1
FUBP1, also known as Far Upstream Element Binding Protein 1, is a tumor suppressor gene
located on the reverse strand of chromosome 1. The exact location of this gene is chr1:78,413,591
78,444,777. FUBP1 is a protein encoded gene. This protein functions as an ATP dependent DNA
helicase. It regulates MYC expression by binding to a single stranded far upstream element
upstream of the MYC promoter. It binds to multiple DNAelements. It may act as both an activator
and repressor of transcription. [1] FUBP1 is a transcriptional regulator and fulfills an important
function in the precise control of c MYC transcription. The c MYC proteinis a transcription factor,
which regulates the transcription of many different target genes that play in proliferation,... Show

The diseases associated with FUBP1 include oligodendrogliomas, astrocytomas, and
oligoastrocytomas. Oligodendrogliomas are primary glial brain tumors and can be either low
grade (grade II) or high grade (grade III). [2] Since oligodendrogliomas have a slow growth rate,
they are often present for years before they are diagnosed. Nevertheless, the most common
symptoms include: seizures, headaches, and personality changes. Altogether, the symptoms
vary by location and size of the tumor. About 66 to 78 % of people with grade II
oligodendroglioma survive for about 5 years after diagnoses, while 30 to 38 % of people with
grade III will survive for about 5 years after they are diagnosed. [3] Astrocytoma is another type
of brain cancer that stats in the cerebrum, which is the largest part of the brain, but can also
appear in the cerebellum, which is the back of the brain. It is more common in men than in
women. Like oligodendrogliomas, the most common symptoms of astrocytomas include:
headaches, seizure, changes in behavior and memory loss. [4] Prognosis of astrocytomas depends
on the type of astrocytoma. Altogether, a low grade astrocytoma (LGA) has an 83 % 10 year
overall survival, while the overall survival rate of a high grade astrocytoma (HGA) range between
15 20%. In both oligodendrogliomas and astrocytomas, the FUBP1 locus is mutated which leads to

Separation Of Government
The Great Separation Of God And Government
Everyday our minds are being filled with conflicting ideas. A wall is being built between
religion and reason. This is the truth about the separation of church and state. Religion is a big
aspect of life in the U.S., recent statistics show that on average 72% of adults in the U.S. profess
a belief in God. The conflict between reason and right goes hand in hand in this country. Everyday
those who live life with religion are being tested by people that challenge their beliefs, infringe on
their personal freedom, and try to force their own beliefs into the minds of others.
This became an issue in the 1700 s and continues to be an issue today. Because religion is being

I am sure that at some point in life we have all argued a topic with another person and known that
we are right, so we try to convince them that what they believe is right is actually wrong. This is
what happens when we try to define separation of church and state. What we have now is not a
separation of church and state, but a regulation of religion. There is no actual proof of a defined
separation of church and state in the constitution, but instead an idea of one created by Thomas
Jefferson in a letter written while he was president . Then there is the enlightenment view which
emphasized liberty of conscience in religious matters and implied a minimum of state involvement
with religion (Menendez). Although people still try to force their beliefs on others and justify it by
saying that it is written in the constitution. If that was not bad enough, people are being treated as
ignorant for having a belief in God. This separation split this country and created a vast division

Volcanic Hazards
Volcanic Hazards (APA) Volcanic Hazards (Order #A2086670) Living in the shadow of a
volcano can be a dangerous proposition. A volcanic eruption, and there have been hundreds in
the history of the United States, can range from slowly oozing lava to massive eruptions and
explosions causing devastation over hundreds of square miles of territory. While many people
associate volcanic activity with the flowing of lava, as is common in the Hawaiian Islands, lava
is rarely associated with being hazardous to humans. Lava simply moves too slowly for people to
be caught by it. However, there are many other types of activities associated with volcanic
eruptions that are more hazardous to human beings. The enormous heat that comes from material
from deep inside the Earth is a more common cause of death than lava, as too is the suffocating
cloud of ash and debris that is often blown out from the volcano during violent, explosive
eruptions. This cloud of ash and debris is often carried by toxic and deadly gasses, including
carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, as well as chlorine, hydrogen, and argon. (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213)
And the force of the blast that can come from an exploding volcano can hurl people long distances
to their deaths. Volcanoes which erupt violently commonly hurl pulverized rock, lava, and glass
fragments from the vent, called pyroclastic materials . (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) These materials, shot
into the atmosphere, can then fuse to form rocks, called welded stuff

children around the world because, they take away the authority from their parents, lack discipline,
and very little is expected of them. Excessive amounts of authority are spoiling American children.

Learning To Die
Haruki Murakami once said, death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it. In Donald Barthelme
s short story The School, the students are exposed to death all around them from a very young age.
The death pandemic begins very small, with some trees, and then gradually increases: first to small
animals, then a puppy, and then it moves on to humans. By the end of the story, the children have
experienced so much death in their everyday lives that their knowledge of the world is more
philosophically advanced than even that of their teacher.
Throughout the story, Barthelme chooses to use the word children to describe the students in the
school. This signifies to the reader that this class is very young. The education these ... Show more

Newlyweds need to thoughtfully organize how they can make their expectations about sharing

Essential UI Design Practices For Every Mobile App Developer
When it comes to communicating with and accessing potential users around the globe, mobile

using, having or sending mobile apps which have automatically become the buzzword in the
mobile space. If you are looking to create an app that will worth your users choice and time, then
you must be ready to build something that is well equipped with all necessary features and very

Remember that before your app can be made available on major app stores like Google Play and
Apple Store, will have to be properly scrutinized and tested. It is advisable to use interactions, touch
gestures, and navigation systems to try out innovations.
Certain objective methods such as A/B testing and user studies may be helpful particularly if you
are seeking to try out new ideas on your own. You can use these methods to compare these
components with the initial versions of your UI. Through this means you can know which of the
two versions is simpler, more efficient, and preferable to use.
Make it look attractive
It always helps to keep the mobile UI of your app graphical. Just so you know, appearance
(design) matters much. An app designed with a more text heavy design will surely not be
preferred more than a mobile app with an enticing look. As a general rule of thumb, ensure to make
use of graphics that are appropriately sized.
In terms of your app s visual appeal, it is good to establish simple resource management but avoid
employing inappropriate graphics. Many mobile app development companies often make the
mistake of taking a one size fit most approach to enhance their app s graphics. If you want your
mobile application to look its best, then you must ensure to incorporate appropriately sized
graphics particularly those specific to the screen of the device you are developing for.

They are aptly named due to the use of their gular pouch, a large fold of skin around their neck

Their underside has smoother scales that when lying on a surface, can pick up vibrations and

These attacks were intended to draw American and the southern Army of the Republic of Vietnam
(ARVN) forces away from urban areas that were the real targets of the Tet Offensive. Once
primary targets were left relatively unprotected, VC and PAVN forces attacked military and
political centers across Southern Vietnam and even infiltrated the grounds of the American

forces may not have succeeded in physically taking targeted locations during the attacks but it had
overwhelmingly succeeded in inflicting a huge psychological blow to the South Vietnamese people
and their U.S. allies. Consequently, the Tet Offensive was a resounding political success for the
Communist forces because it not only broke the morale of the South Vietnamese people and made
them more vulnerable to Vietcong exploitation, but it also altered American public opinion about
the war in general. American decision makers had been confident its military would be able to

fiction film Passengers. I will also create a poster and presentation based on the topic I have chosen.
This report will fulfill the requirements for ENGI 2304, Technical Communications.
1.2Background
ENGI 2304 requires a report that analyzes the feasibility of the science used in any science fiction
film. I will focus on the potentiality of hibernation pods in real life, mainly on how it could be made.
1.3Scope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, I will provide a brief introduction about instances of human hibernation in real life. I will
then provide a plausible method to building one. Based off the information I find in my research,
I will compare the pod in the film and a potential one in real life. I will also explain why the
subject of a hibernation pod should matter to the audience. I will use statistics portrayed by tables
and figures and use images to explain my findings.
With my poster, I will mainly use images and tables. Like my report and final presentation, I will
discuss and compare the hibernation pod in the film and reality. I will use minimal writing and
provide key words in the form of bullet points to convey my findings.

Contributions Of Greenhouse Gas Consumption And Internal...
Transportation sector contributes to a considerable share of energy consumption and
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. In 2015, 50% of world oil consumption was
consumed for road transportation [1]. In 2014, 35% of energy was used in the transportation
sector (21% of world energy consumption was used in passenger cars) [1]. In 2010, about 14%
of worldwide GHG emissions was from the transportation sector [2]. The share of the
transportation sector in a country s GHG emissions varies among the countries all over the world.
For instance, in the US, the transportation sector is a major contributor to GHG emissions and
accounted for 27% of GHG emission in 2015 [3]. Out of that 27%, 60% of emission is from light
duty vehicles and 23% from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a notable point especially for countries that have a high percent of emission free
electricity generation capacity and can use that emission free electricity to provide the energy
needed in the transportation sector. To cut CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050 (as decided by G8
leaders and the European Union in 2009), a 95% carbon emission reduction should happen in
transport sector [6]. However, based on the expected number of passenger cars by 2050 and
knowing the emissions and efficiency of ICEVs, the reduction target for transportation sector
cannot be achieved through an increase in efficiency of ICEVs alone [6]. Knowing this limit,
different countries/jurisdictions all over the world have invested in alternative fuel vehicles. As
defined by the US Department of Energy, an alternative fuel vehicle is a dedicated, flexible fuel,
or dual fuel vehicle designed to operate on at least one alternative fuel [8]. Biodiesel, electricity,
ethanol, hydrogen, natural gas, or propane are considered as alternative fuels in this definition [8].
In this work, we are focusing on reviewing the incentives for vehicles that operate on hydrogen and
electricity as an alternative fuel. We are not considering biodiesel and ethanol as there is
uncertainty about the capability of biofuels to fuel the transportation sector at large scale [6]. We

Donald Trump s Presidential Campaign Analysis
Should presidential candidates be redundantly different from each other? As seen in the past,
presidential candidates have different resolution plans for issues regarding the nation in every
presidential campaign held every four years. Despite the differences candidate s may reflect, every
candidate has to meet the same requirements, they must be a natural born citizen of the United
States, a resident for 14 years, and be at least 35 years of age or older. Throughout the course of
time, the United States, has had 45 different presidents elected into office, all of which have been
men. The United States has never had a woman as president, but this may change after the
presidential election of 2016 where the first woman in history is running... Show more content on

Hillary Clinton supports increased gun control measures, while Donald Trump denies the need for
such increased measures. In Clinton s campaign she says further background checks should be
performed on individuals when they intend to purchase firearms. Clinton plans on closing in on
the problem of individuals with problematic history purchasing firearms under the radar, such as
in gun shows or online. In contrast to Clinton, Donald Trump has expressed that expanding
background checks is not a part of his main concerns. He agrees with improving the background
check process, but believes every law abiding person should be able to carry the firearm of their
choice (Goggin). In agreement with his ideology, Trump is a firm believer in the second
amendment and stated it is a form of protection the country needs

Jack Russell Terrier Essay
PARSON RUSSELL TERRIER (JACK RUSSELL TERRIER)
ORIGIN AND HISTORY
This breed was developed in England in the mid 1800s by a clergyman, Reverend John Russell.
Rev. Russell was an avid enthusiast of fox hunting and wanted to develop a dog that would go to
ground after the fox and flush it from its hole so the hunt could continue. Size was of the utmost
importance to Rev. Russell as the dog had to keep up with the foxhounds. The ideal height of his
terriers at the shoulders was 15 . After Rev. Russell s death, a short legged, long bodied dog with
prick ears and a smooth coat came to be known as the Jack Russell terrier and it was that dog that
was brought to America. In 1990 the breed was established in England as the Parson Jack Russell
terrier and adopted the standard desired by Rev. Russell of a muscular, narrow chested dog, 12 15
inches in height.
In 1985, the Jack Russell Terrier Breeders Association was formed to re establish the original type
terrier bred by Rev. Russell. This group became the Jack Russell Terrier Association of American

aggression and reactivity (activity, excitability, destructiveness) with moderate trainability. 23,
24 A survey of Parson Russell owners in the USA concerning aggression rated the breed well
above average in dog aggression but only slightly above average in owner directed aggression
and below average in stranger aggression. 25 Compulsive tail chasing has been described in the
Parson Russell terrier. 3(721) Clinical signs are first noticed at 3 to 12 months of age.

The Doctrine Of Jesus Christ
Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my
hand, and will not give unto him of my food that he may not suffer, for his punishments are
just...whosoever doeth this the same hath great cause to repent (The Book of Mormon Mosiah
4:16). This progressive quote promotes social welfare and an idea of charity and love that many
mainstream Republicans today do not support. Believe it or not, this is not a statement recently
made on some left wing political talk show, this is directly from the Gospelof JesusChrist. This
same message is echoed throughout all the books of scripture. The doctrine of Jesus Christ
teaches the principles of compassion, equality, forgiveness, tolerance, and most importantly
love; the political ideology that sides with these ideals is on the left. Stephen Colbert said, If
this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn t help the poor, either we have to pretend that
Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we ve got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love
the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don t want to do it.
The teachings of Jesus Christ do not contradict liberal beliefs, therefore we, as His disciples, should
be more open to non conservative political ideals. For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I
was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in (King James Version
Matthew 25:35). This verse emphasizes one of Christ s

Computer Tablet In China
One might believe that marketing strategies are interchangeable within countries throughout the
world; however, one must carefully consider the cultural and economic disparities between those
countries. Computer tablets vary in price, performance, available applications, and durability. For
example, what one might find inexpensive in the United States could be a month s salary in
another. The primary use of a computer tablet in Mexico is Facebook, while in Chinait is gaming.
Moreover, a significant influence in purchasing a computer tablet for Americans is performance,
while in China it is the price. Therefore, manufacturers should study, analyze, and implement

Advertising inundates people in virtually every society, whether it is television, print, radio, or the
Internet. These traditional marketing strategies lack authenticity and originality, creating skepticism
in their legitimacy. To avoid this, marketers should provide the resources necessary for Chinese
consumers to practice word of mouth marketing. This research concluded that it is the origin and
quality of the content found on the Internet that makes it legitimate. Utilizing today s modern
technology, nearly anyone can build an Internet community with little or no financial resources.
These platforms for communication can be physical or virtual, such as a storefront or an Internet
forum. Chinese social media platforms, such as Renren and Weibo, are very effective and
inexpensive strategies. People often refer to Renren as China s Facebook, as it is trendy, successful,
and free. Another effective community to practice WOM marketing is a company or product
forum. A forum offers product owners a place where they could openly express their concerns and
experiences with others, while potential customers could obtain product reviews from real people.
Online communities form bonds between members, which in turn develops a reliable resource
within the most utilized information search tool, the Internet.
According to Boston Consulting Group, half of Chinese Internet users say that the Internet

Stereotypes Traditional Sundaes
IDEAS = BOWL Without ideas, you can t have a piece of writing, just like a sundae would be hard
to make if you didn t have a bowl to put it in. The issue is that there are a lot of different bowls in
the world, just like there are a lot of different ideas you can write about. Some bowls serve a
specific purpose like a cereal bowl, pasta bowl, soup bowl, serving bowl, etc. just like our ideas
serve a specific purpose in writing. But even after picking the right bowl, you still have to find the
right size. That can sometimes be the hardest part of an ideanarrowing it down to the right size for
your writing.
ORGANIZATION = 3 SCOOPS Traditional Sundaes include three delicious scoops just like any
good piece of writing has three specific sections: Vanilla = Beginning, Chocolate = Middle,
Strawberry = End! We want to hook our readers with a good strong lead at the beginning of our...

What you bring to the mix is what makes it interesting. Make sure the audience knows your
enthusiasm, involvement and feelings on the topic. Make your voice part of the piece. You have to
add your own flavor to your writing which allows your reader to connect better to the story.
WORD CHOICE = PERFECT TOPPINGS Ever get a Sundae with too much Whip Cream? It is
so heavy that it weighs everything else down. That can happen with your word choice too. Too
many adjectives and adverbs can really weigh your writing down. Try focusing more on precise
nouns, action packed verbs and words that help create a picture, not just send your reader running
for the dictionary.
SENTENCE FLUENCY = SYRUP Syrup flows over ice cream, mix ins and toppings to create a

Essay on Use of DBCP and Relation to Infertility
Use of DBCP and relation to infertility
Dow produced DBCP (1,2 dibromo 3 chloropropane), a soil fumigant, and nematicide, which was
sold under the names the Nemagon and Fumazone until the late 1970s. US banned DBCP in 1979
after it was linked to human sterility in California. But, Dow and three other companies continued
producing the hazardous pesticide DBCP for years after it was banned and exported it to
developing countries.
Animal testing had revealed that the product caused male sterility in rats and the companies knew
about it at least since the 1960s, but concealed this information. They also neglected to report the
related findings of reduced sperm and atrophied testicles of rabbits and monkeys in the information

The company, however, continued to market Dursban in developing countries, including India
and claimed it was safe for humans and pets. In 2003, Dow agreed to pay $2 million the largest

Attorney General to end Dow s illegal advertising of Dursban as safe .
Acquisition of Union Carbide
The Bhopal Disaster of 1984 was the worst industrial disaster in the history of the world. It was
caused by the accidental release of methyl isocyanate (MIC) from a Union Carbide India, Limited
(UCIL) pesticide plant located in the heart of the city of Bhopal. UCIL was a joint venture
between Union Carbide and a public/private consortium of Indian investors. The MIC leak killed
thousands outright and injured anywhere from 150,000 to 600,000 others, at least 15,000 of whom
died later from their injuries. The contamination due to the leak is still active and no cleanup has
been done till now.
Despite the involvement of Union Carbide in a criminal case in India, location of the plant in the
heart of the city and the disaster site still not cleaned up, Dow bought Union Carbide in 2001. The
transfer of ownership led to complicating the issue of cleaning up the plant and its environs of
hundreds of tonnes of toxic waste, which has been left untouched. Environmentalists have warned
that the waste is a potential minefield in the heart of the city, and

Baby Boom Generation Analysis
Baby Boom Generation Must Retire Now From Government Divisions
It s not uncommon to read articles today about the impact the recession is having on young people
who are just graduating from college. Their career opportunities are already limited. As the
Boomers stay put, it may further limit the advancement opportunities of the generations beneath
them. The typical definition of Baby Boom Generation refers to elder born between the years of
1946 and 1964. American Samoa government divisions are filled with Baby boomers that have
exceeded more than 30 years of service. As a result, the government needs to modify its retirement
policies to allow cost savings, increase of jobs in American Samoa government workforce and add
quality services offered by the government.
The government of American Samoa is continuing facing with a financial downturn. The
problem falls within the leaders when political promises become a driving force in their
decision. Sadly favoritism and nepotism are witnessed in the government regardless of equal
employment opportunity regulation. A great deal of these inclination leans toward Directors of
each department in the government. Samoa News contended that each Director whom are
worked in the government receives more than $60,000 dollars a year ( Samoa New 12 24). Not
only that, if perhaps each director exceeded 30 years of service in the government, they will have
incentive of $700.00 dollars aside from their weekly pay check. Moreover, he/she is

The Rights Of The Stadium Owner
The opinion of the court made their case by referring to other cases. These cases defined the duty
of the stadium owner, by declaring that Once the stadium owner has provided adequately screened
seats for all those desiring them, the stadium owner has fulfilled its duty of care as a matter of law.
(Leagle, 2015). Instead of finding the Houston Sports Association liable, the judge indicated that
because Karen attended the game with an adult, the adult was liable to warn her of the dangers that
could take place when at a baseballgame. Though the jury did not find her father, Robert Friedman,

that her father assumed the risk for his daughter,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chief Judge Cynthia Fry indicated We know of no intentional tort that has elements employing
similar characterizations , with regard to Matranga hitting baseballs with utter indifference to or
conscious disregard for a person s safety (Law Justia, 2009). It is because of this, the court
affirmed summary judgement in favor of the Isotopes and the City of Albuquerque and denied the
Crespin s motion to revise their complaint.
All three of these cases take place over different time periods. Though in the first case, the Boston
Garden was held liable for the injury sustained by a spectator, as the years went on, things
changed. In the 1987 case involving Karen Friedman, the court held the father responsible and
asserted that the Houston Sports Association did everything they needed to protect themselves
from premises liability and spectator injuries. Lastly, the 2009 case confirmed that no duty was
breached and that the stadium or team was not held liable for the terrible injuries Emilio Crespin
endured (Law Justia, 2009). Over the seventy year period that these cases took place over, you can
say how though once held liable, stadiums have set standards in place to protect themselves from
injuries that fan may suffer. Spectator injuries and cases involving premises liability continue to
influence the business of the sport industry.
The sport industry is a business centered around ticket sales,

  • 2. Slaughterhouse Five And Its Depictions Of Key World War II... Josh Cohen Mrs. Hallstrom English Honors 4 8 May 2016 Slaughterhouse Five and its Depiction of Key World War II Events Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five is an interesting but complicated novel about a man bouncing through time and space. The novel is a satire with elements of science fiction, although Kurt Vonnegutincorporates into the plot some of his actual experiences as a World War II soldier and prisoner of war. Vonnegut s lead character and protagonist is Billy Pilgrim, a person who time travels throughout the novel. Vonnegut brings the readers along on Billy s wild and unpredictable journey which goes in several different directions. While this complicates the story, Vonnegut keeps returning to the theme of war by returning Billy back to his time as a soldier during World War II. Vonnegut devotes significant portions of Slaughterhouse Five to the war theme, capturing the zeitgeist of World War II through vivid and highly accurate depictions of key events such as the Battle of the Bulge, the use of boxcars to transport prisoners of war, and the bombing of Dresden by the Allied forces. By transporting Billy back to the Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut effectively captures the harsh realities of this significant and vitally important World War II event. Early in the novel, Billy is thrust into his regiment when it was in the process of being destroyed by the Germans in the famous Battle of the Bulge (Vonnegut 40). Billy finds himself in the middle of this difficult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Grammys Adrian Pedron Mrs. Gonzalez Rojas English 11 Accelerated 10 April, 2017 The Grammys Every year, the most successful musicians across the globe gather for the Grammy Awards. Ever since 1959, the world has tuned into their televisions to get a glimpse of the most popular awards show in the United States. Recently in 2016, the Grammys committee changed a very controversial rule. Traditionally artists that were unsigned to a record label were unable to be nominated for an award. The new rule, however now allows unsigned artists to be nominated for a Grammy. This used to be a controversial topic due to the fact that unsigned artists are making music just like everyone else and deserve the same opportunities as everybody else. Unsigned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A newer kind of music app has changed all of that. This new app is called SoundCloud. This app allows young artists to post music and receive worldwide attention. SoundCloud has benefited tremendously due to the new Grammy rule. The Grammys has opened up a whole new world for both SoundCloud and unsigned artists. In this statement made by Bill Freimuth, The Grammys aren t just peer awarded, they re peer driven, he reiterated the idea that unsigned artists are humble and deserve to be awarded for their work. Another big reason for this rule change is the recent petitions made by several artists that have raised concerns about this issue. A petition was started in 2016 by a group of independent artists as you may be able to conclude, they got enough signatures to raise awareness for this topic. This quote made by Bill Freimuth, Streaming is here and probably here to stay, admits that the Grammys need to be more lenient on certain rules. Unsigned artists should be able to participate in the Grammys because it engages a wider audience and gives opportunities to new artists. Musicians are becoming more and more diverse every day. The Grammys eventually realized that their rules were outdated and needed to be changed. The way music is being made is becoming very controversial because many people don t understand that artists don t need to be signed to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Perfection Of Anorexia Nervosa The life of a young girl taken by the pressures to be perfect happens all too often in today s society. It is not uncommon for a teen girl to diet, purge, or even stop eating all together to achieve the standards of beauty that the world has forced upon her. Most of the time these pressures cannot be escaped because they are pushed onto a girl from the time she is born and sometimes she does not even realize the brainwashing. There is too much pressure put on girls to have a perfect body because it is impossible to be perfect, girls are developing eating disorders, and being imperfect is resulting in bullying and peer pressure. Everyone has his or her own idea of perfection and to form a body to match all of these ideas would be impossible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As many as one in every six females who have anorexia may die from it, this is the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder (Kalodner). There are two types of anorexia known as restricting and binge eating/purging, restricting anorexia is characterized by a girl avoiding food and over exercising, during the binge eating and purging cycle a girl will over eat then cause themselves to vomit or use the bathroom more by sticking objects in their throat to vomit or misusing laxatives, diuretics, or enemas. Most people see the binge eating and purging cycle as bulimia but that is false, if a person is of low weight has not had a menstrual cycle in three months, she meets the criteria for anorexia (Kalodner). Bulimia Nervosa better known as bulimia can be identified by recurrent episodes of binge eating, inappropriate ways to prevent weight gain, binge eating and weight gain prevention occur regularly, self evaluation of body size and shape, and it does not occur exclusively. Bulimia is usually caused by depression and the fear of being fat known as procrescophobia, the two types of bulimia are purging and non purging. Purging consists of binge eating then using medications or other objects to cause vomit or diarrhea, non purging includes fasting for long periods of time and avoiding food. Serious physical consequences come from these eating disorders, parts of the body that may be affected are skin, salivary glands, teeth, hair, muscle, heart, liver, kidneys, bones, stomach and uterus. • 6. Fear Of Manipulating A Spinal Injury Focusing my attention back on the PL, I moved to check the one place unseen and began removing his helmet. His head was protected, but tilting his chin back was one thing I didn t want to do for fear of manipulating a spinal injury. It also is what finally exposed and opened the small hole in his throat from an apparent piece of shrapnel and he began to bleed profusely. I immediately called the medic away from one of the less seriously wounded to help me with the bleeding. I packed the wound but loosely, not wanting to interfere with what was left of his airway and then pulled him up to my lap so I could maintain pressure on the wound. He was still dying. Running out of options, I checked his airway again and manipulated his tongue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shortly thereafter, he regained life signs and consciousness, attempting to sit up even. I called for a litter and directed he be secured and ready to move, meanwhile contacting the Command Post to provide a situation report and moving to check on other casualties at the CCP. At this time I had twelve that needed evacuation and eight more walking wounded. There were barely enough lucid Soldiers to pull security, but my biggest problem was that the QRF had not arrived yet. Searching for an improvised solution for the PL who I believed was expectant at this point, I saw an Afghan National Army truck parked nearby with a driver who seemed as though he was trying to help. I directed that the PL be loaded onto the back of the pickup truck with two ambulatory Soldiers who could pull security on both the surroundings and the driver. I sent the medic to monitor his airway. The interpreter conveyed my directions to the driver to take the Soldiers straight to our Entry Control Point at the AP, and I instructed the PL s security to take the vehicle by any means necessary if the driver did not follow directions. Our Platoon Leader was now conscious and responsive, and I told him where he was going and why. Less than fifteen minutes after the attack, the PL and his fight for life was on his way to next level care. As the truck pulled off our 3rd Platoon arrived as QRF. • 7. Running Back And Delight End Case Study Positional Scarcity: The Running Back and Tight End positions suffer from the highest degrees of variance between the top 5 players and the remaining players at their respective positions. The drop off in fantasy point production between the top and middle tier Running Backs and Tight Ends is dramatic and securing one player Running Back and Tight End in the first few rounds is imperative. Once the Rob Gronkowski s, Jimmy Grahams and the Eddie Lacy s are all off the board you will be acquiring players that will not close to the same point production during most weeks. Therefore, productive players at Running Back and Tight End are the most sought after early in the draft. While at other positons the difference between the best player at a position and the 10th best player won t have the same weekly point variance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, you can draft a middle tier Quarterback in the later rounds of the draft and only see up to a 5 weekly point differential from the upper tier. When comparing the elite Quarterbacks to a Quarterback ranked in the top 10 to 15, the 5 point differential may even be smaller at times and comparing your 18 point per week player to the elite 23 point performer, the 5 points will not dramatically change the final outcome of your league. The paper will continue with discussion of the variables included in the sample. Relevance of the variables for the research will be assessed basing on theoretical and empirical evidence. Sample data description Building on the research of previous studies in the area of credit risk, this paper investigates the US corporate bond markets from January 2006 to December 2013. Data on bonds and issuers is extracted from Bloomberg database. According to objectives of the study, the firms, which issued corporate bonds, are chosen in financial and industrial sectors. To identify the corporate bonds that are relevant for research, the following criteria are applied in this study: Bonds are issued by publicly listed corporations in financial and industrial sectors. Bonds are US denominated and issuers of bonds are officially registered in the US. It is implemented to narrow the scope of this study only to the US bonds. Bonds are actively traded. Bonds that matured before December 2013 are not included in the sample. Bonds that do not have option like features or any other special properties. This means that sinkable, convertible, puttable and callable bonds, and corporate bonds with floating rates, inflation indexed bonds are excluded. • 9. Hamlet Critique In Shakespeare s Hamlet, the complexities that come with actions and the psychological weight of the pillar of human uncertainty are brought to light. This parallels both the thoughts and reflections shown in a critique of the play by Harold Goddard and a radio program depicting a prisons production of Hamlet, The American life: Act V. The critique by Goddard, simply dissects and divulges the connections Goddard believes to be crucial to gain a deeper understanding of Hamlet. Act V, does not simply speak on the text, rather it is a piece that follows a high security prison s production of Hamlet s fifth act. The program mostly focuses on the inmates and how the production both gives them purpose in their life and how the play emotionally touches them. These prisoners find themselves relating to one of the main themes in Shakespeare s play, regret, on a level that was almost inconceivable to them before their involvement in the production. Due to these prisoners being incarcerated, every single day they are reminded of the things they did wrong and are limited freedoms because of it. However, the production does not alleviate this pain or make them feel better about themselves, but rather the opposite. Hamlet is dark in nature, and often propounds the idea of yearning for the past and the vast complexity of choices. Most of these prisoners are now equipped with one of the wisest realizations one could make; nothing is certain, all choices have possibles consequences and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Who Do Not Study The Past, The Great American Philosopher... Title Melissa Lichota Those who do not study the past, the great American philosopher and historian George Santayana once observed, are condemned to repeat it. (Schmidt, 1) This is not only true for the present we live in today, but is held true for the future tomorrow. In 2010 Haitiwas hit with traumatic earthquake that has still left 150,000 people not re housed and live in tents. It was devastating because a history of adverse social conditions and extreme ecological fragility primed Port au Prince for massive loss of life and destruction when the ground began shaking on January 12th. (Farmer, 3) The history of Haiti has caused the country a great struggle to rebuild after the earthquake and the 1825 settlement between Haiti and France, the occupation of Haiti from 1915 to 1934, and the Duvalier dictatorships from 1957 to 1986 events prove that history has a substantial impact upon the future after a devastating natural disaster. Haiti s independence created new difficulties and led to a spiral of independent debt. The prospect of slave rebellion terrified every slave holding elite and now their own restless slaves had a bloody example to emulate. (Phillips, 4) Other colonies relied heavily on slave labor and could not risk losing property, which resulted in Haiti being quarantined to hide the independence. Slave plantations in Haiti were French owned, but when the country became independent the French lost property, or slaves, and forced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Primary Causes Of Wrongful Confessions In societies, many institutional injustices exist, whether they be avoidable or not. One injustice in particular that is very traumatizing are wrongful convictions meaning an innocent being wrongfully convicted by any court of law. Now, wrongful convictions is one the most corrupted aspects of Canada s justice system to date. Which is why it is integral to understand the causes in order to find solutions, there are a plethora of causes, most notably false confessions, pleabargains and systemic discrimination. One of the prime causes of wrongful convictions are false confessions. Somebody admits to a crime he is not responsible for. A confessionis one of the strongest evidence that can arise in a criminal trial, thus when one arises whether it be true or false, it is taken into consideration with a substantial weight. A statistic from the innocence project found that 16% of cases where the victim was sentenced on the basis of DNA evidence, there was a false confession that accompanied it. This shows that perhaps the individual was pressured or threatened to give a false confession otherwise the police will aggravate the sentence. Similarly, 1 out of 4 people who were sentenced by DNA evidence made a false confession or incriminating statement. This statistic shows that when the the accused is threatened with DNA evidence, it creates so much pressure that they cave and accept a plea deal and make a false confession. The Affect Of Music Piracy On The Music Industry Samuel LeGrand Mrs. Turner English 1301.85 11/19/15 Music Piracy and the Impact It Can Make on the Music Industry For over a decade now music piracy has threatened the music industry by costing it money, and stealing from it. Peer to peer file sharing has been somewhat of a red flag for the music industry ever since Napster, a once highly used file swapping network, came into the picture. Napster and the websites similar to it made it possible for people to trade files downloaded onto their computer through the internet for free. What that means is that someone who had downloaded the new NSYNC album could give it away to however many people could access it and no one had to pay a penny. The big deal about that is the fact that the artists who worked for months to make that album did not get paid. The only money they saw was from the people who actually went out and physically paid for the CD.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided societies. We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working 60 to 90 hours every week for as little as ВЈ17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and business was took elsewhere. The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old ones being thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models. Mobile phones bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up with the trend and because they want the newest gadgets on the street. I think that in order to be a successful athletic director, one needs to keep the functional areas of sport management in mind. These four areas include: planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating (Masteralexis, Barr, Hums, 2015). The first aspect of planning is something that athletic directors need to be very good at doing. An athletic director needs to have both short and long term goals. If I were to become an athletic director, I would want to make sure all of the student athletes received the proper tools to succeed both on and off the court. I would make sure each student athlete, scholarship and non scholarship, had a tutor available to them at all times. I know that the University of Florida allows each athlete to have a tutor, however, it is optional. The reason that it is optional is because it is something that is enforced by the coaches. Therefore, I would make it a university athletic department policy that all coaches must force their student athletes to use a tutor. I would want to make sure each athlete used their tutor to their advantage so they could be aware of what was going on in the classroom. This would also allow students to not be stressed about their studies, and that way they have a proper balance between their sport and education. It is a huge goal of the NCAA for their students to have a proper balance in life, therefore I think through this plan I could implement that balance. In order to make this possible ... A volcanic eruption, and there have been hundreds in the history of the United States, can range from slowly oozing lava to massive eruptions and explosions causing devastation over hundreds of square miles of territory. While many people associate volcanic activity with the flowing of lava, as is common in the Hawaiian Islands, lava is rarely associated with being hazardous to humans. Lava simply moves too slowly for people to be caught by it. However, there are many other types of activities associated with volcanic eruptions that are more hazardous to human beings. The enormous heat that comes from material from deep inside the Earth is a more common cause of death than lava, as too is the suffocating cloud of ash and debris that is often blown out from the volcano during violent, explosive eruptions. This cloud of ash and debris is often carried by toxic and deadly gasses, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, as well as chlorine, hydrogen, and argon. (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) And the force of the blast that can come from an exploding volcano can hurl people long distances to their deaths. Volcanoes which erupt violently commonly hurl pulverized rock, lava, and glass fragments from the vent, called pyroclastic materials . This pouch is used, along with a display of teeth, to show aggression when they feel threatened, but can also be used to communicate mating intentions. Their body is covered in rough, raised scales that are used for collecting rainwater as they bend down low and let water trickle down towards their mouth. Their underside has smoother scales that when lying on a surface, can pick up vibrations and sense movement, and in the wild this incredible sense of touch was used to monitor the bearded dragons surroundings. The Vietnam War plunged the United States in an ever increasing dilemma of how to exit what seemed to be an unwinnable war against a formidable foe without losing honor and respect in the global community. In a comparison of two essays regarding America s involvement in Vietnam, the authors offer different perspectives on the war and what led to an America defeat. In the first essay, the effects of the 1968 Tet Offensive are examined and what impact it had on American policy and public opinion about the war effort. These attacks were intended to draw American and the southern Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) forces away from urban areas that were the real targets of the Tet Offensive. Once primary targets were left relatively unprotected, VC and PAVN forces attacked military and political centers across Southern Vietnam and even infiltrated the grounds of the American embassy in Saigon. According to U.S. General Fred Weyand, the Tet Offensive waged by enemy forces may not have succeeded in physically taking targeted locations during the attacks but it had overwhelmingly succeeded in inflicting a huge psychological blow to the South Vietnamese people and their U.S. allies. Consequently, the Tet Offensive was a resounding political success for the Communist forces because it not only broke the morale of the South Vietnamese people and made them more vulnerable to Vietcong exploitation, but it also altered American public opinion about the war in general. American decision makers had been confident its military would be able to defeat the enemy with use of superior firepower but the Tet Offensive had proven how ineffective air strikes were against such an elusive and mobile enemy. Nor did it offer much of a deterrent against ambitious initiatives to an enemy that has the capability to designate the time and place of its military engagements. To cut CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050 (as decided by G8 leaders and the European Union in 2009), a 95% carbon emission reduction should happen in transport sector [6]. However, based on the expected number of passenger cars by 2050 and knowing the emissions and efficiency of ICEVs, the reduction target for transportation sector cannot be achieved through an increase in efficiency of ICEVs alone [6]. This progressive quote promotes social welfare and an idea of charity and love that many mainstream Republicans today do not support. Believe it or not, this is not a statement recently made on some left wing political talk show, this is directly from the Gospelof JesusChrist. The doctrine of Jesus Christ teaches the principles of compassion, equality, forgiveness, tolerance, and most importantly love; the political ideology that sides with these ideals is on the left. The teachings of Jesus Christ do not contradict liberal beliefs, therefore we, as His disciples, should be more open to non conservative political ideals.
