• Sanctioned first post-WWII road race in US:
the 1948 Watkins Glen Grand Prix
• Approximately 60,000 members today
• Principal source of volunteer Race Officials in
the United States
• Most US road racers come up through SCCA
• Amateur racing (there is a Pro subsidiary)
