Honor In Hector s War
Hector, uses the aspect of honour to represent his own people, the Trojans in the war. Troy, is a very
important part of Hector s life, he lives for Troy and will always live to not only honour his city but to
be honoured by those living in it. This can be seen in how Hector reacts to how his wife, Andromarche
and his son Astyanax view his fighting in this war. Possessed is what you are, Hector. Your courage is
going to kill you (Iliad, page 78). Andromarche is against Hector fighting in the war, attempting to
sway him to stay home with her and their son to stay safe and alive for them, Hector however, does
not believe in letting his city and people down due to the fact that death is a strong possibility during
this war. If I hung

Japan s Change Of Modernity And Democracy
There are many things that contributed to Japan s change to modernity and democracy whether it was
between the political parties or if it was between their cultural system and the people s rights. Before
Japan changed to a more modern and democratic society it was a feudal government structure based
on Confucius views which was during the Tokugawa period. During the Tokugawa period there was a
separation between the social classes which was categorized in four groups the samurai, peasants,
artisans, and merchants. The two classes that had the most power were the samurai and the peasants.
The samurai had the most power because they created a moral example and the peasants came in
second into the social class since they produced food which was essential to survival of the people.
The last two classes the artisans and the merchants. Although the merchants were last in the social
class some were very wealthy and even owned their own monopolies, but since they were in the
bottom of the class the laws prevented them to come higher into power. Although Japan was a feudal
government and was more traditional the Japanese still developed some modernized urban influences
like expanding their trading of commodities, and their advancement in their science studies. Though
the Japanese had some of these modernized views the Tokugawa period soon came to an end due to
the lack of government control by the shogun which created the four classes to fall apart. The
differences between

How Lasers Work, The Development Over Time And The Effect...
This essay will discuss how lasers work, the development over time and the effect on people s lives.
Lasers work by using a process called stimulated emission which allows an incoming photon (of a
precise level) to interact with an excited atomic electron. Stimulated emission allows three things to
occur. The first is the light from a laser being monochromatic. This means that the light is of only of
one specific wavelength of colour. The wavelength of light is decided by the amount of energy
released when the electron drops into a lower orbit. Light can only be released when an atom has
become excited and gives off an electric discharge which causes the electrons to drop form a high
energy orbit into a lower energy orbit. The second is coherency; this is the organization of the light.
Every photon moves in a specific time to match the others. Therefore each photon has wave fronts that
take off in unison. The third is the direction of the light. The light has a very concentrated beam and is
very strong. Ordinary light do not have these properties. The light of a flashlight is very spread out
and disorganized unlike the light of a laser.
Lasers were developed through hundreds of years of experiment. Originally it was not thought to have
been possible or event relevant until approximately three years before the first laser was built. The
first of the important discoveries that lead to the development of the laser was in 1880 by American
inventor Alexander Graham Bell. He

Enlightenment In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha, it is crucial to understand that the attainment of spiritual
enlightenment is not confined to a single journey or path of life. Because the path to enlightenment is
unique to the experience of the individual, it is not something that can be taught by the spiritually
awakened. Hesse demonstrates this idea through the parting ways of Siddhartha and Govinda, two
friends who have shared their entire lives with each other. After meaningful encounters with several
other characters, Siddhartha meets Govinda once again in a time of need. The separation and reunion
of the two emphasizes that companionship, a motif exhibited throughout the novel, has a profound
effect on both Govinda and Siddhartha s path to enlightenment.
The relationship between Siddhartha and Govinda is illustrated as that of a leader and a follower, or a
mentor and a pupil. While Siddhartha is admired by all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After his informance of the Buddha s location, Govinda says, ...we have reached our goal and our
journey is at an end (26). This, in combination with Siddhartha s rejection of the Buddha, supports the
idea that Siddhartha and Govinda exist in different stages of a cycle, where Siddhartha is a mentor,
and Govinda remains a pupil. Siddhartha tires of others teachings and wishes to learn through
experience Govinda is the exact opposite, a person who appreciates learning from others and assumes
that following the Buddha s teachings is the final step of his personal journey. Despite Siddhartha s
contrasting views, he is supportive of Govinda s decision: Govinda, my friend, you have taken the
step, you have chosen your path...Often I have thought: will Govinda ever take a step without me,
from his own conviction? (30). He, as Govinda s friend and the wiser of the two, recognizes that this

Description Of The Poem Sunflowers
Sunflowers
Doreen put down the watering can and wrinkled her nose. What a putrid smell, is that a blocked drain
or something? I haven t noticed any funny smells coming from the house lately, have you?
Margaret shook her head, I remember it smelt a bit off out here the other day, but I thought maybe it
was the drain, I did have a look but everything seemed fine. It could be sewage I suppose. She went
back into the chicken shed to feed the hens again, even they looked morose, seemingly aware the June
was no longer around.
I don t know how she managed all of this by herself, said Doreen, as she watered the last of the
sunflowers. It s a full time job in itself. Seriously, this smell is making me wretch, come over here and
see for yourself. I ve never smelt anything like it before.
Margaret walked over to the end of the garden.
Yes, I see what you mean now, it s definitely coming from those sunflowers, they smell as though they
ve gone bad. I didn t think they went off in that way though.
They just look so listless.
I wonder if the soil has gone bad, said Doreen, they look diseased, they ll contaminate the soil and
everything around them will die if we don t take them up now. Do you think we should do that?
Margaret shrugged, they do seem to be attracting an awful lot of flies.
It s unsightly, said Doreen, I m sure June would have done the same.
Oh, god, yes. She wouldn t have wanted anybody to see them in this state, you know how much of a
garden snob

My Personal Change Reflection
Micheal jackson said it best when he sang about changing the man in the mirror . During these past
twenty days I have participated in a personal change challenge. What my fellow classmates and I were
instructed to do was to add, delete or change something about our lives for twenty days and record our
findings in a personal journal. I decided that the change I needed in my life was motivation and
positivity. So each morning of the challenge, I started out with a motivational video. These videos was
suppose to make me happier, more productive and boost my mental health. However , here are the
results I recorded throughout this twenty day challenge. While I cannot remember who the speaker
was, I do remember that I was more offended than motivated. The video questioned my reasoning for
existing and asked what my purpose was in this world. Had I even began to leave my mark on this
Earth? I quickly started questioning everything I have ever done. However, after discussing the video
the topic with a few, well know teachers, I slowly found the motivation in the video and began to be
excited about the next nineteen days still yet to come. This excitement however, was short lived. Half
way through the challenge , I was ready to give up. As first the videos were motivational and i was
increasing being more productive throughout my day but as the days wore on the videos seemed to
only be repeating each other, one after another, each speaker saying the same exact words as

Men on Display
Throughout society, the portrayal of men and women has always differed. Women have been
illustrated as sexual, gentle creatures while men have been illustrated as the strong, authoritative
figures in our culture. However, these stereotypical portrayals have changed drastically over the years.
In past culture, women have always been the center of advertisements, while men have stayed in the
shadows. In present day culture, men are starting to play a larger role in advertisements. However,
many ads showcasing men have proved to be controversial. Susan Bordo, the author of The Male
Body: A New Look at Men in Public and Private (1999) discusses the different ways men have been
used in campaigns throughout our history. Susan Bordo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to society, men are supposed to be strong and athletic, however sensitive and understanding
at the same time. Both genders have equal pressures of their own, so each sex should be seen in an
equal state. I believe many companies use women for most ads is because men are so respondent to
visual senses. Studies of men show that men respond best to pictures. In Susan Bordos essay, Deborah
Blum states that testosterone is wired for visual response. (Bordo, 132). Even though this may be true
about men, it still should not shock society as much when men play the role women have for so long. I
believe advertisements should stop using men and women as sexual targets all together. These
campaigns tell nothing about the product being advertised, and companies need to start getting more
creative with them. One advertisement that was displayed in Susan Bordo s essay was one for Gucci
underwear. In this ad, the man is not wearing the underwear, he is holding them while the back of his
body is exposed. When I look at this ad, It does not make me want to learn more about the product and
buy it because of the indecency of the male. It makes me shy away from the product rather than
become enthralled in it. I do not believe this advertisement is beneficial and I do not believe it will
make people buy the product. I believe the Calvin Klein ad found on page 132 is much more effective.
It catches people s attention because

The sun glares at me, burning me even more as I look out onto the ocean. The water looks like a
blanket of diamonds, making me grin easily. Thinking of the treasure out there, my toes curl into the
sand, feeling the rough texture prod me even more. My tanned, muscled arm wraps around the smooth
surface of my white surfboard, giving me a rush of adrenaline for what is to come.
I jog towards the ocean, my heart thumping faster and faster as I get closer. The first splash of water

climb on. My wetsuit clad legs dangle in the clear blue water, as I squint at what s in front of me,

The Origins Of Attachment Theory
The origins of Attachment theory can be traced to the influential work of John Bowlby (1958).
Bowlby s work as a psychiatrist in a Child Guidance Clinic in London caused him to consider the
significance of the child s relationship with their mother in terms of their cognitive, emotional and
social development. Specifically, it contributed to enthralling his interests surrounding the link
between early infant separations with the mother and later maladjustment, leading Bowlby to
formulate the Theory of Attachment. Bowlby argues that this attachment between the mother and child
is different in a qualitative form from any other form attachment. This theory, although seminal, holds
many criticisms from others, stating that children learn more from their peers rather than from their
parents (Harris, 1998). A separate criticism is that of Field s (1996), who evaluates the many
limitations of the Attachment Theory. A primary critic of Bowlby s attachment theory is J. R. Harris.
The general public assume that good natured, sincere, and humble parents will raise children bearing
similar traits whilst parents that are ill tempered, indecent, and cruel will similarly raise children of an
identical nature (Ainsworth, 1969). According to Harris, this may not be the whole truth. Harris (1998)
believes that a child s peers to have greater influence over their personality and character rather than
their parents. An example of this would be children whose parents suffer from

Reflection On Harkness Discussion
After taking part in the Harkness discussion that we had in class last Tuesday, I honestly feel that I
gained many new perspectives which now help me formulate and update my own view of the police s
use of force. Originally, I was stuck on the thought that police use excessive force against minorities
simply because they could; I believed they were solely abusing their power. Furthermore, after hearing
about the many police brutality crimes against minorities that have been circulating in our country for
over the last year, it only furthered my previous stance. However, having read the various articles for
the Harkness discussion and taking part in the discussion, my stance has changed for the reason of the

Introduction :
Electronic voting in polling stations is in place of the world s largest E Democracies, and I voting is
used in some, initially small and E Historically conflict free, countries. Many countries were currently
considering Introducing E Voting systems with the goal of improving various aspects of the Electoral
process. E voting is often seen as a tool for advance democracy, building faith in electoral
management, adding credibility to election results and increasing the exhaustive efficiency of the
electoral process. The technology is evolving fast and election managers, observers, IO (international

Percutaneous Coronary Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a disease where fatty deposits obstruct the inside of arteries. Arteries are blood
vessels that transport blood rich in oxygen to the heart and other parts of the human body. The execs
of plaque harden and narrow the arteries. This limits the flow of blood rich in oxygen to the organs

that he has superpowers. Nakaba in Dawn of the Arcana is a young princess and she fits that
stereotype better than Naruto fits his stereotype of a boy. Nakaba has all things that a stereotypical
princess has, servants, guards, a castle and royal attire. But she still does break the stereotype of a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hot Melte Extrusion
In hot melt extrusion, materials are heated, melted and dispersed to be cooled. This process is not
suitable for thermolabile products, and the excipients should be miscible in the molten state [12].
Large size particles are produced by hot melt extrusion. Process parameters such as temperature,
pressure and mixing rate determines product properties like density, particle morphology, size and size
distribution. Table 2 lists the advantages and disadvantages of hot melt extrusion technique [2,5].
The process typically consists of three phases (figure cxxx). First, feeding phase in which excipients
enters the heating chamber. Second, the excipients melts and a screw allows its mixing and transfer
into the extrusion station. Finally, Extrusion in which the extruder controls the shape and size of the
extrudate once is cooled down and cut [12,13].
Co milling is very efficient in dispersing and homogenizing excipients, it also reduced partiele size in
aqueous media. This technique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cooling rate has a direct effect on the co crystal s size, growth and shape. After co crystals
production, they are then filtered and washed to eliminate impurities. Finally, the crystals are dried,
milled and sieved to reduce their particle size [2].
Co crystallization involves two main steps: nucleation (the material starts its crystallization process on
a specific site) which can occur in labile zone that is a zone not optimal for crystal growth, and second
the crystal or co crystal growth. The solid crystals can be formed from liquid, melt or gas, and are
more stable than the individual initial materials and held together by non covalent forces. Compared to
the initial material, the co crystal has a different crystallinity, solubility and mechanical properties

The Scope Of Customary International Law
Within the scope of customary international law, there are some varying norms that the international
law community must deal with, which are broken down into three different categories from most
important to least important: 1) norms in which the international community allows no derogation,
these are known as peremptory norms or jus cogens, 2) norms that might allow for derogation, and 3)
norms that aren t binding but some might argue should be.
To classify these customary norms scholars use both state practice and opinio juris. In order to
determine state practice the states may look towards each other and how they react in similar
scenarios. One debate surrounding this area is determining how many states need to sign off on an
action to determine that sufficient state practice is occurring. Two sides of the argument are the actual
number states versus the regionalization of the states. Opinio juris is defined as a state engaging in a
certain activity because they believe they are under legal obligation to act.
The idea of peremptory norms is older than modern international law itself (113). The idea of
peremptory norms stems from the belief that certain actions are so heinous that derogation is not
allowed. The Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties shows the importance of peremptory norms in
both Article 53 and 64. Article 53 states that a treaty is void if, at the time of its conclusion, it conflicts
with a peremptory norm. Article 64 explains that treaties,

The And Its Effects On The Human Body
The planaria are free living flatworms that scavenge for food and get oxygen through diffusion.
Planaria are acoelomates, which means that they do not have a body cavity or organs. They have a
solid middle part of their body made from a type of germ layer in animals. They also only have one
opening for their digestive system and have a bilaterally symmetric body plan. They have no
circulatory system and a simple nervous system with ganglia in the anterior region of the head that
acts as a brain. They have eyespots that can sense light and flaps on their heads that can sense
chemicals in the water. They like the dark and exhibit negative photo taxis if exposed to light, which
means that they will move away from the light. Planaria can reproduce asexually through transverse
fission or sexually. All planaria are hermaphrodites, which means that each animal has both male and
females reproductive parts and can fertilize itself (Castle, 1927). The regenerative abilities of the
planaria are truly remarkable. Thomas Hunt Morgan found in the late 1800s that a single planarian can
be cut into 279 pieces, and each piece would grow into a new planarian. Planaria are essentially made
up of pluripotent adult stem cells called neoblasts that closely resemble human embryonic stem cells.
These cells are not differentiated yet and can be told to do any job that might be needed of it. The
neoblasts can essentially become any type of cell that is needed; it can become a brain,

Examples Of Racial Disparity In Sentencing
Racial Disparities in Sentencing In a country where many believe the hatchet of racism was buried
with its first black president, many people of color, both non black and black are still frustrated and
disappointed in the progress to be made. Many progressives prefer to see America as a colorblind
nation, a nation where if you work hard and do right, you ll fulfill the American Dream. Often this
dream is accompanied with challenge after challenge for people of color. Of course what first must be
asked is if racism is still present in our justice system and in the fabric of our country? What must be
understood first is that answers to these complex issues are never black or white, which leaves far too
much gray area to be discussed. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to realize that one of the greatest challenges that has been and is still currently faced by
people of color is the racial disparity in sentencing in the criminal justice system. As seen by criminal
justice reform agency, The Sentencing Project, Racial minorities are more likely than white Americans
to be arrested; once arrested, they are more likely to be convicted; and once convicted, they are more
likely to face stiff sentences ( Shadow Report to the United Nations ). This can easily be interpreted by
observing the data presented (see fig.1), according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, one in every
three black males are likely to be imprisoned within their lifetime and one in every six Latino males
are likely to be imprisoned within their lifetime as well, this in comparison to the fact that one in every
seventeen white males are likely to be imprisoned within their lifetime is quite disgraceful. Although it
is very hard to swallow, this is just one of the many harsh realities which face progressive America.
This only helps in asking the question, in this new progressive, post racial America is this racial gap in
sentencing showing any considerable decrease? One manner in which the racial gap can be understood
is the fact that whites commit certain crimes at a

Plate Reactionics And Plate Tectonics
Plate tectonics, plate tectonics are a theory explaining the structure of the earth and rarely resulting in
the interaction of stiff lithospheric plates that move slowly over the lurking mantle below. Plate
tectonics has been around for about 3.2 million years, and still continues now. What does it do? Well
plate tectonics are several plates that skim the top of the mantle´s bumpy interior layer on top of the
core. The plates act like a solid and stiff frame in comparison to earth s mantle. The outer layer of the
earth is called the lithosphere; the lithosphere is the strongest, toughest layer of the earth. Plate
tectonics are a stylish way of continental drift. Continental drift is an assumption of the continents
once moving around earth created by Alfred Wegener. Although we don t physically observe plate
tectonics happening, it has definitely affected many things, created many things, and destroyed many
things. Over time we see what plate tectonics have done. I am going to be explaining how plate
tectonics have shaped volcanoes, how plate tectonics has shaped mountains and also how it has
constructed earthquakes. Usually when the plates being forced together or being yanked volcanos are
being formed. Have you ever noticed how volcanoes usually take place in the same spot as
earthquakes? When the tectonic plates move apart from each other, burning hot magma rises and fills
the empty areas in between. When the tectonic plates become one, one of the tectonic plates

Switching At Thomas County Central High School
I am a volleyball player who was denied eligibility to play varsity volleyball at Thomas County
Central High School, because I switched schools sooner than a year ago. I understand that you along
with the rest of the GHSA board care about students not taking advantage of switching schools just to
be on an eye catching sports team. As a player, I respect this and thank you for keeping star athletes
from taking mine or my team mates spots on the team. It is also understandable that you along with
other GHSA board members may not think about school systems like ours that continuously have
people switching primarily because of the rigor of different school, such as me switching to TCCHS
from Thomasville High School Scholars Academy, because I simply could not keep up with the pace
and rigor that they teach with. After weighing out both points of view, transfers from any school
should be allowed to participate in varsity sports without having to wait a year from the time of
transferring to their new school. My thought out solution is to simply allow it, but have those athletes
only be able to play half of the season. The 50% that they get to play in the season would be talked out
between the coach, athlete, and the parents. Having this rule would be a good compromise between
not allowing transfers to play and allowing them. With this rule in place, athletes would be able to get
in their time to stand out, but they would not take away a lot of time from players who have

Scientific Management, Or Taylorism, Is A Theory Of...
Scientific Management, or Taylorism, is a theory of management by F. W. Taylor that analysed how
the highest economic efficiency, especially labour productivity, can be achieved, hence the greatest
prosperity for both employers and employees. The four principles that he brought forward are the
replacement of the rule of thumb work method with a scientific way to study work, matching and
training the most suitable person to do each particular job scientifically instead of leaving the workers
to choose their own work and teach themselves, the provision of detailed instructions and standard
operating procedures by the managers to workers to ensure all of the work being done in accordance
with the principles of the science and the division of work between workers and managers, which
managers are responsible for planning and supervising while workers are to complete the tasks they
are assigned to.
In F. W. Taylor s scientific management theory, he tried to convey the idea of specialisation. This
means dividing and co ordinating the various tasks necessary to produce a finished product by
simplifying jobs and having each worker perform fewer, more routine tasks , aiming to increase
efficiency in the workplace. By doing so, workers would have to make fewer motions to complete a
task and also, repeatedly doing the same task, which would make workers more and more used to and
skilled at that task. As a result, they can do it more efficiently and quicker.
Specialisation has

Humor In The Devil Is A Part-Timer
Furthermore, it is important to understand how humor functions within The Devil is a Part Timer in
order to see how it brings to light the problems of the part time working world. For human beings,
humor is a significant part of verbal communication, which in turn makes humor an important part of
any type of communication based media, such as television. One study done by Professor Joanne
Cantor at the University of Wisconsin implies that almost eighty two percent of all television
programs contained at least one attempt at humor. . . all of the situational comedies contained attempts

The superiority theory notes that people laugh outwardly or inwardly at others because they feel some
sort of triumph over them or feel superior in someway to them, for example parents laughing at the the
misunderstandings of their children. When communicators, or narratives, use this type of humor they
make their audiences feel superior in the sense that they [the audience] are brought up to a more equal
relationship with the speaker (Meyer 314, 318). Although allowing an audience to feel superior to the
character within a show may seem negative at first, due to the fact that it separates the audience from
the characters mentally, in reality by deprecating Maou and Ashiya through humor, the show is able to
bring the two powerful demons down the the audience s level, bringing the two groups closer. As
demons, the situations the the two participate in or the actions that they perform are outside the realm
of the average human being. However, through the use of superiority style humor, the show is able to
make the two more human. The audience is able to see actions that the two preform and know they as
human beings the audience members would be able to perform those actions at the same level or
better. Maou is no longer an all powerful demon king, but an average being on the same playing field
as the audience. This allows the audience to connect with Maou on a

Sassy Black Woman Essay
Daayyyuummm b*tch, dem animal prints on your jeans are hella on fleek. Who do you picture when
you read this quote? A young boy? A grandmother? You are most likely picturing a black woman. But
why is this? Have you actually ever heard a black woman speak like this? My guess is probably not.
So then why do you picture a black woman? It could be because black women are often portrayed in
movies and television shows as loud and obnoxious characters, often accompanied by very vibrant
body language and proclamations of how independent they are. The trope of the sassy black woman
became popular on The Amos n Andy Show. The show featured a woman named Sapphire, the
demanding, finger waving wife of her husband George. Since the popularity of this show, and
specifically this sassy character, other shows started to use it as well. ... Show more content on

Her character evolves quite drastically over the 13 seasons, but in the first few seasons she embodies
this archetype perfectly. Miranda Bailey is a resident in charge of training six interns. Her role is to act
as a mother figure, and to guide and teach them to become great doctors. She is an extremely feisty
and bossy character, earning her the nickname of Nazi given to her by her interns. The audience doesn
t see much at all of her personal life (until later seasons). Her role is solely to take care of the other
doctors. She is especially sassy in the episode, This is Why We Fight , in which she says, You better be
right. Cause if this boat goes under and I don t have a life jacket, I m coming looking for you, fists
swinging. And I m short, so my punches land low . She clearly doesn t hesitate to put her interns in
their place by threatening violence, even in a professional environment. Miranda Bailey from Grey s

Penguin Ballet Analysis
A composer depends entirely upon the nature of the film for all the clues needed to write a suitable
score for a film. Brought into the production after a certain amount of film has been shot, the films
concept will dictate how the composer will write the music. Whether based on the story line, or
providing information by setting an atmospheric state, film music will always have different purposes
between different films. Penguin Ballet by Nigel Westlake was composed to focuses upon the
graceful, almost ballet like movements of the penguins underwater. Whereas, Writings on the wall by
Sam Smith conveys ideas and messages which will be expressed throughout the film, especially
through the use of lyrics. Although positioned within the film to provide contrasting messages, both
these songs use similar musical elements to support the piece, and its position with the film. The
discussion of this essay is that there are similarities between the musical elements that support the
lyrics in a song and the action in a documentary. Through this, we will discuss the musical element s
of pitch, and timbre and texture.
Through the use of pitch, each piece was able to develop motifs to represent specific personalities on
the screen. Nigel Westlake successful achieves this within the Penguin Ballet. Mirroring the fluidity
and beauty of the penguins beneath the polar ice caps, it could be stated that the guitar and the harp,
most commonly represent the penguins. Played with almost a

Origin And Development Of Hunting
Origin and Development of Hunting in Humans Everyday humans around the world consume meat for
nutritional value and; though it is out of mind, survival. When we plan to acquire meat today it is
typically purchased from a store where it had been processed and packaged. However the process of
acquiring this valuable protein was not always so simple. It has been proposed since the time of
Darwin and his theory of Evolution that it was our initial conversion into omnivores who both hunted
and gathered that gave us the extra nutrients to further develop as an intelligent race. Not only did
meat help enlarge brain size but it has been argued to shape our morphology which further aided in
hunting and survival on the savannah rather than in trees. Darwin s evolutionary studies have
remained unchallenged until recently. Darwin specified hominization began when our ancestors
abandoned the trees, embraced an upright bipedal gait, and began using their free hands to create and
use tools. Tools became vital for the purpose of hunting and carcass processing. Darwin explained that
meat, obtained through hunting, became the most stimulating component in hominid adaptation to
savannas. Triggering a progressive increase in brain size, meat subsequently led to increased
intelligence. Another element surrounding this theory of evolution suggests men are superior in mental
endowment to women. Hunting being primarily a male activity and gathering primarily for females its
possible gender

Hmong Culture Case Study
Over a period of time, the Hmong people have immigrated from country to country due to oppression
from governments and due to their involvement in wars. For this reason, Hmong people are now
found living scattered across the globe (Tatman 2004). With no country to call home, they fled to the
hillsides and mountain tops of nearby neighboring countries. As a result, the Hmong people had to
reestablish their communities and families wherever the settled. Although the Hmong s lacked a
formal government and a central leader, Hmong families were often lead by a dominant male figure
within the family who was responsible for the decision making and wellbeing of the group (Long

The Irish Potato Famine In The 1800 s
Any form of death is hard on people no matter what type of death it is. During the mid 1800 s, the
world was still trading crops, livestock, and objects to each other. The different countries trusted each
other more than what was needed to be trusted of each other. Fighting for independence along with
fighting for their lives may be two different things, but for the Irish it was something horrible that
happened to them during this time. The Irish Potato Famine was an act of genocide that was
committed by the British Empire. Over the course of the seven years that the Potato Famine occurred,
there was a decrease in Ireland s population by twenty to twenty five percent. This famine happened

Thus, freedom of expression is an end in itself and as such, deserves society s greatest protection. It is
vital to the attainment and advancement of knowledge, and the search for the truth. The eminent 19th

only if one considers all facts and ideas, from whatever source, and tests one s own conclusions
against opposing views. Therefore, all points of view even those that are bad or socially harmful
should be represented in society s marketplace of ideas. It is necessary to our system of self

Romeo and Juliet Love Story by Taylor Swift. In the song Love Story if you actually read the words
you can understand the meaning of the lyrics. It s not just about Taylor s same old problem with her ex
boyfriend, this song was made to be based on this play. Romeo and Juliet is about 2 paramours
fighting for a love so strong. As for the play, if you actually think about what they re saying the story
comes to life. The lyrics We were both young when I first saw you explains that Romeo and Juliet
were actually pretty young when they first saw each other. I sneak out to the garden to see you, we
keep quiet cause we re dead if they knew.. This explains that in Scene 2 of this Act, act 2. Juliet is on
her balcony talking to herself about how amazing Romeo is, while Romeo sneaks in to see her. They
keep quiet because Romeo is a Capulet while Juliet is a Montague, and if either side found out about
them, it would be bad news especially if Juliet s kinsman found out he was in the Capulets yard. In the
song the lyrics go, This love is difficult, but it s real. explains the many obstacles they had to

A Christian Reading of Hamlet Essay
A Christian Reading of Hamlet
In a famous article, The Christian Tragic Hero, Poet W. H. Auden defines a Christian tragic hero
according to the Judeo Christian view that all people are moral agents and own responsibility for their
actions. One of his examples is Macbeth, who listens to the witches and is tempted to commit a crime
that he knows is wrong. Auden says that the audience s response to Macbeth s fall is, What a pity it
was this way when it might have been otherwise. This contrasts with the pagan tragic hero, like
Oedipus, who is bound by fate. Because Oedipus can do nothing about his ancestry, the audience s
response is, What a pity it had to happen this way. 1
Just as Macbeth s tragedy begins when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, he is echoing the well known Bible warning:
For Satan himself is transformed into an Angel of light. Therefore it is not great thing though his
ministers transform themselves, as though they were the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall
be according to their works. (II Corinthians 11:14,15)4
Hamlet expresses a moral awareness here, just as Macbeth did when admitted to himself and his wife
that murder was wrong. Hamlet is admitting that he could be deceived. He goes on in the above
soliloquy, though, to justify himself saying he will use The Murder of Gonzago play to see whether or
not the ghost is lying.
The Geneva Bible on Ghosts
Shakespeare s England was patriotically Protestant. From a Protestant perspective there is even more
than just the possibility of deception. The Bible prohibits any consultation with the dead.
Let none be found among you that...asketh counsel of the dead...because of these abominations the
Lord thy God doth cast them out before thee. (Deuteronomy 18:10 12)
Just as Hamlet acknowledges in the above quotation, the result of consulting the dead is being cast out
being damned.

on God, but he is still looking for advice before going to battle against the Philistines. He goes a

The Issue Of Safety And Gun Control
Have you ever thought about the fact that in America, an 18 year old is old enough to buy a gun, but
not a beer? The concern of a gun crime being committed by a young man/woman is high, but what if
they want to go hunting with their father? It doesn t seem so bad now. Some people may think that our
President isn t effective enough, but there are too many people supporting each side for the President
to make a large, yet fair decision. There may be two sides to the story, but what is the right option?
This question of safety and gun control has become part of an on going controversy due to views on
The Constitution, the national gun control laws, as well as the fact that most Americans would like an
updated background checking system. The discussions about citizens rights to bear arms go back to
ancient times. Political theorists from ancient Rome, John Locke of England, and Jean Jacques
Rousseau of France viewed the possession of arms as a sign of personal freedom and a crucial element
of government. The precise meaning and purpose of the Second Amendment has been an issue of
major controversy. Gun control supporters argue that when the Second Amendment was adopted in
1791, each state enabled a militia, composed of ordinary citizens who served as part time soldiers.
Fearing that the federal government would use its army to force its will on the states, the authors of
the Second Amendment intended to protect the state militias right to bear arms. As stated in modern
times

Papaver Somniferum has been used since Greek times to relieve suffering and euphoria. Records
indicate that the opium poppy has been used since the time of Mesopotamia (5000 to 4000 BC). The
records refer to the poppy and its use as opiates as medical tablets. Homer s writings indicate Greek
usage of the substance at least by 90OBC: Hippocrates made extensive use of medicinal herbs

It is believed that the Romans probably learned of opium in the Mediterranean. Opium spread to

Between World War I and H the cultivation of opium grew in Central America in the mountains. Now
the major producers and exporters of opium are Turkey and India (Britannica Online).
Opium was definitely used in more recent times as well. Before the nineteenth century there were few

Long ago opium was not considered harmful and was available to everyone. Doctors advised taking

Discrepancies In Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Historical Discrepancies in Raiders of the Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark was a fictional film that involved Indiana Jones search for the Ark of the
Covenant and his struggle against the German Nazis. Along with the Nazis, he fought against one of
his personal enemies, Dr. Belloq. The film took place in 1936, three years before the beginning of
World War II. This movie used the Nazi search for religious artifacts and created a mission, and an
enemy, for Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark contained many historical references, but it
contained many fictional aspects as well.
The main character in Raiders of the Lost Ark was Indiana Jones. Marion Ravenwood accompanied
him on his search for the Ark of the Covenant. She was the daughter of Jones former archaeology
professor. She was angry with Indiana Jones in the beginning of the movie due to an event which
occurred before the movie began. One of the main antagonists, Dr. René Belloq, was a French
archaeologist hired by the Nazis. The other was a German Nazi named Major Arnold Toht. Arnold

set different goals and saw the world in a different way than America and Britain. On the more
positive side, Raiders of the Lost Ark portrayed the Ark of the Covenant as all powerful and it burned

How The Cloud Is A Time Consuming And Ultimately...
wanting to send folders and multiple documents this method can become time consuming and
ultimately inefficient. There is an option to zip files when emailing however this only compresses files
to a point, some are still too big. An alternate way to saving on the cloud is using Google Drive, which
in reality, most students at John Paul II (or at least in my year) do not have a lot of experience with, so
generally do not use it. This would be able to securely store larger files. Since we cannot work on
some files within the Google interface it would require the file to be downloaded each time it needs to
be updated on a different computer. This is one disadvantage which is inefficient but as Google
continues to develop more file types may be editable reducing this problem. Personally I prefer the
USB for larger files and transferring files in general. However an issue at our school especially within
the main computing room there are issues with USB s connecting so whenever attempting to transfer
data onto the school computer to work on it there is an uncertainty whether it will successfully connect
or not. The benefits as mentioned above are the USB can transfer large files and load them quickly
when USB is connected. An example of this is when working on the internal assessments for digital

Synthesis Of 2-Methyl-1-Butene Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment was to synthesize 2 methyl 1 butene and 2 methyl 2 butene. We later
confirmed the alkenes in each product with Baeyer and Bromine test. Through Gas liquid

reactions. In the E1 reaction, the rate determining step is the loss of the leaving group when the mixed

carbocation. A tertiary carbocation is preferred because it is more stable than a primary or secondary
carbocation. The solvent takes a Hydrogen away from the beta carbon and the pair of electrons go to
the bond between the alpha and beta carbon creating an alkene, as shown in Figure 1. Essentially, E1

Why The Rich Are Getting Richer
Many people wonder in the world, why are the rich getting richer ? Which is a very important
question. Over countless years, the wealthy have found many ways around taxes like loopholes and
tax deductions. Meanwhile, the lower class are left lost and clueless to any sort of tips around taxes
and leaves them in turmoil. In Reich s Why the Rich are Getting Richer he goes on and explains just
that, why are the rich getting richer. The economic difficulties that have been circulating in America
have been making it challenging for people to pay their taxes, while only two percent of the
Americans are sitting on their high horse sponging up all their money. America is the way it is because
society doesn t sit down and take in that the wealthy are only getting richer while the poor or people in
poverty struggle to just keep up with their bills. One of the biggest things in the United States is social
security. It has put many people in trouble and I don t get why the rich are getting it after they retire.

How Did Slavery Occur In Colonial America
Slavery s rise as the dominant force of labor in the Virginia colonies allowed for racism to spread and
therefore justified the use of Africans for slave labor. Racism came as a direct result of slavery and
allowed the divide between the Africans and Europeans to intensify. The profit that came from slavery
encouraged many powerful landowners to switch to slavery, and eventually leave indentured servitude
behind. In the colonies, slavery became vital to the new colonial society for economic reasons, and
brought on a birth of racism that distinguished Africans and Europeans. Many instances describe the
level of equality between all races as many settlers of different descents arrived in Jamestown; and as
diversity began to build up slowly. For example, The colony even began to look a little like the

Reaction Between Hydrochloric Acid And Sodium Tiosulfate
Reaction Order and Rate Laws
Glenna Hoefs
December 26, 2017 Abstract
This report discusses a laboratory procedure to study the effect of reactant concentration on the rate of
the reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulfate, with the aim of determining the order
of each reactant and the rate law for the reaction.
For this experiment, the reactants were added to a well plate in varying concentrations. The reaction
was timed by using a stopwatch and observing the production of a precipitate. The data collected
during this procedure was then analyzed to determine the reaction order for each reactant as well at the
rate law for the reaction.
The hydrochloric acid was determined to have a reaction order of 0, while the sodium thiosulfate was
determined to have a reaction order of 1. The reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium
thiosulfate was determined to be first order with respect to N2S2O3. The k constant for this reaction
was calculated to be 0.1 1/s.
We conclude that the concentration of hydrochloric acid does not have an effect on the rate of the
reaction. The concentration of sodium thiosulfate, however, is directly proportional to the rate of the
reaction.
Introduction
This report discusses a laboratory procedure to study the effect of reactant concentration on the rate of
the reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulfate, with the aim of determining the order
of each reactant and the rate law for the reaction.

B6D7E1 The Principles of expansion and contraction of matter
Name: Lim Li Fern (14)
Class: 1P11
Identification Card No.: 990412 11 5206
Subject teacher: Puan Norlida
Heat does to matter is changes it state. There is something more subtle though that can cause big
problems. Look at this devise. When you heat both this ball and the ring the ring expands like a long
bar of metal. The ball expands less so when they are heated the ball fits through the ring. You may
want to look for these and try this demo as many of you probably have these.
Another neat tool to show the expansion of metals is this bimetal bar. It is made with one metal on one
side and another metal on the other side. One metal expands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What Happened: The water level was slightly below full. As the water cooled, it contracted causing
the water level to drop. However, there may also be another effect here as well. If you used water with
a lot of bubbles, those bubbles also took up a part of the volume inside the bottles. As the bubbles
eventually floated to the top, they would have decreased the volume slightly. Can you think of some
way to insure that what you are seeing is not a result of the bubbles?
A Major Exception to the Rule
The general rule that has already been stated is that matter expands when heated and contracts when
cooled, but there are a few exceptions. The most important exception is water when it freezes.
Procedure: Fill the bottle to the top with water and replace the cap. Wrap the bottle in several layers of
newspaper and place the bottle and paper in the bag. Put the bag in the freezer and leave it there until
the water freezes.
Remove the bag and paper and examine the bottle. What do you see?
What Happened: The bottle was shattered or very swollen. When water is cooled, whether as a gas
(water vapor), a liquid, or a solid, it will contract. The one major exception to this is when water
reaches the freezing point and changes from liquid water to ice. At that point, the water expands,
rather than contracts. This expansion caused the bottle to break.
The reason water behaves this way has to do with the shape of it s

  • 2. Honor In Hector s War Hector, uses the aspect of honour to represent his own people, the Trojans in the war. Troy, is a very important part of Hector s life, he lives for Troy and will always live to not only honour his city but to be honoured by those living in it. This can be seen in how Hector reacts to how his wife, Andromarche and his son Astyanax view his fighting in this war. Possessed is what you are, Hector. Your courage is going to kill you (Iliad, page 78). Andromarche is against Hector fighting in the war, attempting to sway him to stay home with her and their son to stay safe and alive for them, Hector however, does not believe in letting his city and people down due to the fact that death is a strong possibility during this war. • 3. Japan s Change Of Modernity And Democracy There are many things that contributed to Japan s change to modernity and democracy whether it was between the political parties or if it was between their cultural system and the people s rights. Before Japan changed to a more modern and democratic society it was a feudal government structure based on Confucius views which was during the Tokugawa period. During the Tokugawa period there was a separation between the social classes which was categorized in four groups the samurai, peasants, artisans, and merchants. The two classes that had the most power were the samurai and the peasants. The samurai had the most power because they created a moral example and the peasants came in second into the social class since they produced food which was essential to survival of the people. The last two classes the artisans and the merchants. Although the merchants were last in the social class some were very wealthy and even owned their own monopolies, but since they were in the bottom of the class the laws prevented them to come higher into power. Although Japan was a feudal government and was more traditional the Japanese still developed some modernized urban influences like expanding their trading of commodities, and their advancement in their science studies. Though the Japanese had some of these modernized views the Tokugawa period soon came to an end due to the lack of government control by the shogun which created the four classes to fall apart. • 4. How Lasers Work, The Development Over Time And The Effect... This essay will discuss how lasers work, the development over time and the effect on people s lives. Lasers work by using a process called stimulated emission which allows an incoming photon (of a precise level) to interact with an excited atomic electron. Stimulated emission allows three things to occur. The first is the light from a laser being monochromatic. This means that the light is of only of one specific wavelength of colour. The wavelength of light is decided by the amount of energy released when the electron drops into a lower orbit. Light can only be released when an atom has become excited and gives off an electric discharge which causes the electrons to drop form a high energy orbit into a lower energy orbit. The second is coherency; this is the organization of the light. Every photon moves in a specific time to match the others. Therefore each photon has wave fronts that take off in unison. The third is the direction of the light. The light has a very concentrated beam and is very strong. Ordinary light do not have these properties. The light of a flashlight is very spread out and disorganized unlike the light of a laser. Lasers were developed through hundreds of years of experiment. Originally it was not thought to have been possible or event relevant until approximately three years before the first laser was built. The first of the important discoveries that lead to the development of the laser was in 1880 by American inventor Alexander Graham Bell. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Enlightenment In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha, it is crucial to understand that the attainment of spiritual enlightenment is not confined to a single journey or path of life. Because the path to enlightenment is unique to the experience of the individual, it is not something that can be taught by the spiritually awakened. Hesse demonstrates this idea through the parting ways of Siddhartha and Govinda, two friends who have shared their entire lives with each other. After meaningful encounters with several other characters, Siddhartha meets Govinda once again in a time of need. The separation and reunion of the two emphasizes that companionship, a motif exhibited throughout the novel, has a profound effect on both Govinda and Siddhartha s path to enlightenment. I haven t noticed any funny smells coming from the house lately, have you? Margaret shook her head, I remember it smelt a bit off out here the other day, but I thought maybe it was the drain, I did have a look but everything seemed fine. It could be sewage I suppose. She went back into the chicken shed to feed the hens again, even they looked morose, seemingly aware the June was no longer around. I don t know how she managed all of this by herself, said Doreen, as she watered the last of the sunflowers. It s a full time job in itself. Seriously, this smell is making me wretch, come over here and see for yourself. I ve never smelt anything like it before. Margaret walked over to the end of the garden. Yes, I see what you mean now, it s definitely coming from those sunflowers, they smell as though they ve gone bad. I didn t think they went off in that way though. They just look so listless. I wonder if the soil has gone bad, said Doreen, they look diseased, they ll contaminate the soil and everything around them will die if we don t take them up now. Do you think we should do that? What my fellow classmates and I were instructed to do was to add, delete or change something about our lives for twenty days and record our findings in a personal journal. I decided that the change I needed in my life was motivation and positivity. So each morning of the challenge, I started out with a motivational video. These videos was suppose to make me happier, more productive and boost my mental health. However , here are the results I recorded throughout this twenty day challenge. While I cannot remember who the speaker was, I do remember that I was more offended than motivated. The video questioned my reasoning for existing and asked what my purpose was in this world. Had I even began to leave my mark on this Earth? I quickly started questioning everything I have ever done. However, after discussing the video the topic with a few, well know teachers, I slowly found the motivation in the video and began to be excited about the next nineteen days still yet to come. This excitement however, was short lived. Half way through the challenge , I was ready to give up. Women have been illustrated as sexual, gentle creatures while men have been illustrated as the strong, authoritative figures in our culture. However, these stereotypical portrayals have changed drastically over the years. In past culture, women have always been the center of advertisements, while men have stayed in the shadows. In present day culture, men are starting to play a larger role in advertisements. However, many ads showcasing men have proved to be controversial. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to society, men are supposed to be strong and athletic, however sensitive and understanding at the same time. Both genders have equal pressures of their own, so each sex should be seen in an equal state. I believe many companies use women for most ads is because men are so respondent to visual senses. Studies of men show that men respond best to pictures. In Susan Bordos essay, Deborah Blum states that testosterone is wired for visual response. (Bordo, 132). Even though this may be true about men, it still should not shock society as much when men play the role women have for so long. I believe advertisements should stop using men and women as sexual targets all together. These campaigns tell nothing about the product being advertised, and companies need to start getting more creative with them. One advertisement that was displayed in Susan Bordo s essay was one for Gucci underwear. In this ad, the man is not wearing the underwear, he is holding them while the back of his body is exposed. When I look at this ad, It does not make me want to learn more about the product and buy it because of the indecency of the male. • 10. The Origins Of Attachment Theory The origins of Attachment theory can be traced to the influential work of John Bowlby (1958). Bowlby s work as a psychiatrist in a Child Guidance Clinic in London caused him to consider the significance of the child s relationship with their mother in terms of their cognitive, emotional and social development. Specifically, it contributed to enthralling his interests surrounding the link between early infant separations with the mother and later maladjustment, leading Bowlby to formulate the Theory of Attachment. Bowlby argues that this attachment between the mother and child is different in a qualitative form from any other form attachment. This theory, although seminal, holds many criticisms from others, stating that children learn more from their peers rather than from their parents (Harris, 1998). A separate criticism is that of Field s (1996), who evaluates the many limitations of the Attachment Theory. A primary critic of Bowlby s attachment theory is J. R. Harris. The general public assume that good natured, sincere, and humble parents will raise children bearing similar traits whilst parents that are ill tempered, indecent, and cruel will similarly raise children of an identical nature (Ainsworth, 1969). According to Harris, this may not be the whole truth. Harris (1998) believes that a child s peers to have greater influence over their personality and character rather than their parents. Process parameters such as temperature, pressure and mixing rate determines product properties like density, particle morphology, size and size distribution. Table 2 lists the advantages and disadvantages of hot melt extrusion technique [2,5]. The process typically consists of three phases (figure cxxx). • 17. The Scope Of Customary International Law Within the scope of customary international law, there are some varying norms that the international law community must deal with, which are broken down into three different categories from most important to least important: 1) norms in which the international community allows no derogation, these are known as peremptory norms or jus cogens, 2) norms that might allow for derogation, and 3) norms that aren t binding but some might argue should be. To classify these customary norms scholars use both state practice and opinio juris. In order to determine state practice the states may look towards each other and how they react in similar scenarios. One debate surrounding this area is determining how many states need to sign off on an action to determine that sufficient state practice is occurring. Two sides of the argument are the actual number states versus the regionalization of the states. Opinio juris is defined as a state engaging in a certain activity because they believe they are under legal obligation to act. The idea of peremptory norms is older than modern international law itself (113). The idea of peremptory norms stems from the belief that certain actions are so heinous that derogation is not allowed. The Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties shows the importance of peremptory norms in both Article 53 and 64. Article 53 states that a treaty is void if, at the time of its conclusion, it conflicts with a peremptory norm. Article 64 explains that treaties, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Planaria are acoelomates, which means that they do not have a body cavity or organs. They have a solid middle part of their body made from a type of germ layer in animals. They also only have one opening for their digestive system and have a bilaterally symmetric body plan. They have no circulatory system and a simple nervous system with ganglia in the anterior region of the head that acts as a brain. They have eyespots that can sense light and flaps on their heads that can sense chemicals in the water. They like the dark and exhibit negative photo taxis if exposed to light, which means that they will move away from the light. Planaria can reproduce asexually through transverse fission or sexually. All planaria are hermaphrodites, which means that each animal has both male and females reproductive parts and can fertilize itself (Castle, 1927). The regenerative abilities of the planaria are truly remarkable. Thomas Hunt Morgan found in the late 1800s that a single planarian can be cut into 279 pieces, and each piece would grow into a new planarian. Planaria are essentially made up of pluripotent adult stem cells called neoblasts that closely resemble human embryonic stem cells. This can easily be interpreted by observing the data presented (see fig.1), according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, one in every three black males are likely to be imprisoned within their lifetime and one in every six Latino males are likely to be imprisoned within their lifetime as well, this in comparison to the fact that one in every seventeen white males are likely to be imprisoned within their lifetime is quite disgraceful. Plate tectonics has been around for about 3.2 million years, and still continues now. What does it do? Well plate tectonics are several plates that skim the top of the mantle´s bumpy interior layer on top of the core. The plates act like a solid and stiff frame in comparison to earth s mantle. The outer layer of the earth is called the lithosphere; the lithosphere is the strongest, toughest layer of the earth. Plate tectonics are a stylish way of continental drift. Taylor that analysed how the highest economic efficiency, especially labour productivity, can be achieved, hence the greatest prosperity for both employers and employees. The four principles that he brought forward are the replacement of the rule of thumb work method with a scientific way to study work, matching and training the most suitable person to do each particular job scientifically instead of leaving the workers to choose their own work and teach themselves, the provision of detailed instructions and standard operating procedures by the managers to workers to ensure all of the work being done in accordance with the principles of the science and the division of work between workers and managers, which managers are responsible for planning and supervising while workers are to complete the tasks they are assigned to. In F. W. Taylor s scientific management theory, he tried to convey the idea of specialisation. This means dividing and co ordinating the various tasks necessary to produce a finished product by simplifying jobs and having each worker perform fewer, more routine tasks , aiming to increase efficiency in the workplace. By doing so, workers would have to make fewer motions to complete a task and also, repeatedly doing the same task, which would make workers more and more used to and skilled at that task. When we plan to acquire meat today it is typically purchased from a store where it had been processed and packaged. However the process of acquiring this valuable protein was not always so simple. It has been proposed since the time of Darwin and his theory of Evolution that it was our initial conversion into omnivores who both hunted and gathered that gave us the extra nutrients to further develop as an intelligent race. Not only did meat help enlarge brain size but it has been argued to shape our morphology which further aided in hunting and survival on the savannah rather than in trees. Darwin s evolutionary studies have remained unchallenged until recently. Darwin specified hominization began when our ancestors abandoned the trees, embraced an upright bipedal gait, and began using their free hands to create and use tools. Tools became vital for the purpose of hunting and carcass processing. Darwin explained that meat, obtained through hunting, became the most stimulating component in hominid adaptation to savannas. Triggering a progressive increase in brain size, meat subsequently led to increased intelligence. Another element surrounding this theory of evolution suggests men are superior in mental endowment to women. Hunting being primarily a male activity and gathering primarily for females its possible gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Auden defines a Christian tragic hero according to the Judeo Christian view that all people are moral agents and own responsibility for their actions. One of his examples is Macbeth, who listens to the witches and is tempted to commit a crime that he knows is wrong. Auden says that the audience s response to Macbeth s fall is, What a pity it was this way when it might have been otherwise. This contrasts with the pagan tragic hero, like Oedipus, who is bound by fate. Because Oedipus can do nothing about his ancestry, the audience s response is, What a pity it had to happen this way. 1 Just as Macbeth s tragedy begins when he ... Some people may think that our President isn t effective enough, but there are too many people supporting each side for the President to make a large, yet fair decision. There may be two sides to the story, but what is the right option? This question of safety and gun control has become part of an on going controversy due to views on The Constitution, the national gun control laws, as well as the fact that most Americans would like an updated background checking system. The discussions about citizens rights to bear arms go back to ancient times. Political theorists from ancient Rome, John Locke of England, and Jean Jacques Rousseau of France viewed the possession of arms as a sign of personal freedom and a crucial element of government. The precise meaning and purpose of the Second Amendment has been an issue of major controversy. Gun control supporters argue that when the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, each state enabled a militia, composed of ordinary citizens who served as part time soldiers. Fearing that the federal government would use its army to force its will on the states, the authors of the Second Amendment intended to protect the state militias right to bear arms. There is an option to zip files when emailing however this only compresses files to a point, some are still too big. An alternate way to saving on the cloud is using Google Drive, which in reality, most students at John Paul II (or at least in my year) do not have a lot of experience with, so generally do not use it. Reaction Between Hydrochloric Acid And Sodium Tiosulfate Reaction Order and Rate Laws Glenna Hoefs December 26, 2017 Abstract This report discusses a laboratory procedure to study the effect of reactant concentration on the rate of the reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulfate, with the aim of determining the order of each reactant and the rate law for the reaction. For this experiment, the reactants were added to a well plate in varying concentrations. The reaction was timed by using a stopwatch and observing the production of a precipitate. The data collected during this procedure was then analyzed to determine the reaction order for each reactant as well at the rate law for the reaction. The hydrochloric acid was determined to have a reaction order of 0, while the sodium thiosulfate was determined to have a reaction order of 1. The reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulfate was determined to be first order with respect to N2S2O3. The k constant for this reaction was calculated to be 0.1 1/s. We conclude that the concentration of hydrochloric acid does not have an effect on the rate of the reaction.
