Cypop04 Promote Young Childrens Physical an Movement...
Explain why physical activity is important to the short and long term health and well being of
children.
Physical activity supports a child s overall health and well being. It helps with bodily development
(i.e. muscle build up and heart and lung function). It helps tackle childhood obesity, promotes a
positive attitude to sport, playing outside and other physical activities in later life.
Observe three different physical play activities in your setting. Using the observation reports identify
the physical skills children are developing. You need to consider the movement skills travel, object
control and balance and coordination.

HRM532 Talent Management
5/12/13
Formulate a talent management strategy to encompass the entire talent requirements of the
organization. When discussing and planning your organization s future, it s important to consider not
just the goals, objectives, and initiatives, but clearly how to accomplish them. The most important
contributor is undoubtedly your employees. Aligning the organization s business strategy with its
employees is called talent management, and it encompasses aligning the right employee with the right
position in the organization. Talent management is a business strategy and must be fully incorporated
within all of the employee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strategic Employee Planning is the practice of developing your organizational goals and strategic
plan. It is also knowing how to achieve your goals and implement the plan. Another responsibility of
employee planning is identifying the key roles and personnel who will assist you in attaining them.
Talent Acquisition and Retention is hiring new talent into your organization and recognizing and
cultivating talent you already have in the organization. Promoting from within your organization is
more cost effective and encourages employee engagement and loyalty. Performance Management is
when the right person is aligned with the right role and position within the organization. Its end goal is
to make sure that roles align with your business strategy to achieve its goals. It develops goals for
success, supports employee development, and moves the organization in a positive direction. Learning
and Motivating sounds like two components but they actually go hand in hand. Learning is more than
just training it is the acquirement of information and skills, which in turn gives way to knowledge and
experience. To be effective learning programs need to include behavior based activities and tasks that
support the organization s culture and proposals. The motivation comes in when employees see how
their growth impacts the organization, and realize just how valuable their role is. Career Development

King Tutankhamun Research Paper
King Tutankhamun
Over 3,300 years ago, a young King, known as Tutankhamen, inherited the rule of the Egyptian
kingdom. Tutankhamen was only nine years old at the time. Guardian officials tended to political
duties while the boy matured into manhood. As the years pasted, Tutankhamen s name became widely
known. In the young kings life, he wife Ankhesenpaaten was unable to birth a son, but she did have
the misfortune of miscarrying two daughters. Then when Tutankhamen was nineteen , he died and left
his empire in shambles. It s still a mystery if the King was murdered or if his death was an accident. In
year 1922 Tutenhamen finally became known when Howard Carter discovered the young kings
tombtomb. As a result of the discoverey of him tomb mulitple leads were uncovered.
During Akhenaten s reign in 1341 B.C., a royal child was born named Tutankhamen. It is questionable

A letter was written to King Hitties which asked him to send her a groom to share the throne with her,
this was probably her last effort to hold onto power. There are documents that prove Hittie sent prince
Zannanza to Egypt, but he somehow disappeared on the way. Still what really happened after the
young kings death is a mystery most Egyptologists would love to solve. (Editors, Biography.com

King Tuts tomb was found untouched although the peripheral rooms were looted. Tut was lavished
with many jewels, all made of pure gold. Paintings surrounded the walls of the tomb describing the
first stages of his transition to the afterlife. Researchers believe that Nefertiti might be buried behind
the wall of king Tut s tomb. Also, the tomb may have included Tut s older sister Mertitaten , and his
mother Kiya. Other theory is that these extra chambers might be storage chambers, either way

Essay On I Have The Right To Bear Arms
Within the past half century, gun control has become a heated debate topic between Americans.
The United States Federal government should not increase gun control regulations. The second
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of
a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. By this, it is
understood that each citizen has the right to possess firearms and use them under the realms of a
cautious manner. This amendment was written under the intentions of protecting Americans from
dangers, both foreign and domestic. After experiencing the tyranny of Britain, Americans wanted to
ensure protection for both themselves and their loved ones from ... Show more content on

At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976, Washington
D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate. According to the
Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to 364 in 1988 and
continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the Supreme Court in District
of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to 88 annual murders in 2012. This
statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law abiding citizens is ineffective in
decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way to obtain a gun even with a gun ban
in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the criminals will have defenseless victims
to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans into place in the past. However, these
regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the ineffectiveness of gun bans and the
overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be in best interest, for the safety of
Americans, to not implement an increase on Federal gun control

Limited Liability
Discussion Assignment
You own and operate a small store. Currently, you are a single proprietor.
What kinds of risks and liabilities are you facing?
When a business is run as a single proprietor means that the owner is solely responsible and liable for
the actions of the company. The risk and the liability are that the personal assets such as house, car,
land, or bank savings are also part of the business. There is no legal separation of the assets between
the business and the owner of the business. For example, if the single proprietor defaults on a bank
loan or there is an accident on one of the employees, the owner is the sole responsible. The bank can
seize and liquidate the personal assets for the debts. In addition, the employee who suffered injury for
in a work related accident can sue and held the owner liable. The sole proprietor risks all the personal
assets if there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this risk can be addressed by incorporating the business. There are various options of
incorporation depending on the type of business and goals. The most common are the Limited
Liability Company (LLC), Limited Partnership (LP), Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), or
Nonprofit Corporation.
When the sole proprietor incorporates, it gives advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that
the owner can sales shares to investors and raise capital. Moreover, with an incorporated business the
owner and the employees can benefit from health insurance, workers compensation, insurance against
accidents, etc. Another advantage of incorporating the business is that it guarantees the safety of the
personal assets. For example, if there is an accident or the business defaults on the bank loan, only the
business will be liable. The personal assets such as your house or car will not be

Daniel Cosway Christophine
How are Christophine and Daniel Cosway two of the most powerful voices and characters in the
novel?
The voices of Christophine and Daniel Cosway have a presence in the novel unrivalled by the other
characters in terms of expression and power. Their dialogue has the greatest emotional effects on the
other characters, and arguably on the readers too, throughout the novel. Christophine is the slave of
Antoinette s mother, given to her on her wedding day; she is present throughout Antoinette s
childhood and becomes her mother figure. Originally, Christophine is from Martinique and is shown
to have a very different, self confident, authentic identity to the other characters in the novel. Daniel

It also allows an opportunity for his voice to be heard without interruption therefore strengthening his
narrative. This letter is also written in Patois, which is usually a spoken language, using it within a
letter makes it an agent of self expression and foundation of identity. His use of direct address within
the letter is persuasive and threatening, you ask me what proof I have and why I mix myself up in your
affairs. I will answer you. Furthermore, the short sentences convey his aggression. He is writing from
an emotionally charged position, full of vengeance towards the Cosways: Her father and mine was a
shameless man and of all his illegitimates I am the most unfortunate and poverty stricken. The use of
hyperbole here emphasises his rage. Again he is threatening, No, that old devil don t like me at all, and
when I grow older I see it and think, Let him wait my day will come. The last part of that sentence is
evocative of biblical language and style, the capitalisation of Let increases the effect. His use of
juxtaposition, But they are white, I am coloured. They are rich, I am poor, is very emotive, he is trying
to gain sympathy in order to strengthen his persuasion, which is successful. Again, in his conversation

My Professional Theory
Throughout the semester, I have learned many different theories and approaches when helping clients.
After taking these theories and approaches into consideration, I have developed my own personal and
professional theory to help my future clients. When building my unique theory to helping I analyzed
my own values and beliefs and found a way that I believe will work best for me and my future clients.
Before determining my approach to helping I had to analyze the beliefs and values I hold. As a person,
I have a specific set of values I base my life upon; I have found that many of these values are like
certain theories learned in class. In my personal life, I strive to be a warm and honest person who takes

Constructivism is the only cognitive behavioral theory I have used to influence my personal theory;
this is because it, focuses on the interdependence of thinking, feeling, and behavior... (Okun
Kantrowitz, 2015, p. 152). Constructivism is also phenomenological being that, it focuses on one s
subjective view of self, of others, and of the world (Okun Kantrowitz, 2015, p. 152). Like the other
theories and my own theory, Constructivism values a warm helping relationship, believes people have
free will, and evokes responsibility within the client. Without this theory, my personal theory would be
very affective, and as much as love the affective strategy, I need to address behaviors and thoughts as
well. The constructivism approach values all three of these equally, which is why I like it so much and
believe it is so effective. By incorporating this theory, I am also considering but not focusing on the
client s past, which impacts their present and future. In this approach, the helper is empowering the
client to make a positive change, which is the over goal for me in this profession. If I can make a
positive change in at least one clients life, I have done my

Theme Of Loss In Chaucer s Poem Book Of The Duchess
In Geoffrey Chaucer s dream vision poem, The Book of the Duchess, the theme of loss seems to be
very prevalent. Loss can be found in the dreamer s lack of sleep, Alcyone s loss of her husband, and
the Knight s loss of his lady. Loss can also be noticed in events outside of the book with the death of
Blanche, Duchess of Lancaster and wife of Chaucer s benefactor, John of Gaunt. This poem is
believed to be an elegy that was composed for one of Blanche s later commemoration services. I do
agree with that theory and have found evidence to support it. In the early, opening lines of the poem,
we find that the dreamer is experiencing a challenging time falling asleep. His heavy thoughts are

is evidence that seems to suggest that this poem was written by Chaucer to commemorate the death of
Blanche of Lancaster. The first part of this is that there has been may handwritten notes that suggest
The Book of the Duchess had been written at the request of John of Gaunt. Secondly, evidence is in
the date in which the poem should have been written. This was around 1368 1371. The death of
Blanch occurred on September 12, 1368 and the poem would have been written afterwards for one of
her commemoration services. The exact date of the poem is unclear, but it should have been written
before 1971. In that year, the Duke had married Constance of Castile. Gwen M. Vickery argues that if
the poem was written after the second marriage it would be a virtual tribute to hypocrisy. I agree with

The Big Ideas Of Professional Learning Communities By...
In his article, Richard DuFour outlines the big ideas that represent the core principles of professional
learning communities. He explores how the core principles of professional learning communities
guide school efforts to sustain the professional learning community model until it is embedded in the
school culture.
He identifies 3 Big Ideas of Professional Learning Communities: (1) Ensuring That Students Learn,
(2) A Culture of Collaboration, and (3) A Focus on Results
Big Idea #1: Ensuring That Students Learn
The professional learning community model flows from the assumption that the core mission of
formal education is not simply to ensure that students are taught but to ensure that they learn. Focus on

Essay On File Sharing
An Examination of File sharing on the Internet
Napster and its founder held the promise of everything the new medium of the Internet encompassed:
youth, radical change and the free exchange of information. But youthful exuberance would soon give
way to reality as the music industry placed a bull s eye squarely on Napster.
I. Introduction
Today the use of a computer has provided many privileges to its users, and among those privileges the
main and largest one is the distribution of information across the internet. Through the internet, the
average person has the ability to access millions of databases of information at no cost. This is the
intent that the internet was founded on; that all people could come together ... Show more content on

Thus because no one realized the true potential of the internet (nor was the technology available at the
time), no great amount of information was transferred from computer to computer, at least by the
average person. Each file had to be transferred physically by floppy discs that could only hold an
insignificant 1.44 Megabytes. Sure, you could still share files back then, but this required the physical
act of getting the disk, transferring it to your computer, and then copying the file. All this took a
relatively large amount of effort compared to the copy and paste methods of copying files today.
After a while around 1995, a small underground network of file sharing developed through the use of
a medium known as mIRC. m IRC is basically the early version of today s chat rooms with the
exception that most users identities can be kept hidden from one another while still allowing the users
to exchange information freely. These users created their own private FTP sites which other users
could upload and download from. These users became labeled as internet pirates , who dedicated their
time to obtaining the latest software and other such files to upload to FTP sites whose IP addresses
changed constantly so that they could not be tracked. These FTP sites grew to

Eugenics, Derived From The Greek Word Eugenes Meaning Well...
Eugenics, derived from the Greek word eugenes meaning well born, is defined as the study or belief
that by encouraging people with good genetic traits to reproduce and discourage those people with less
desirable traits the human race can benefit. There were certain groups of people who were affected by
these sterilization laws, including people that were mentally disabled or ill and those from socially
unacceptable areas of life, that were adopted in 32 states starting in the 1930 s. These sterilizations
were done on over 350,000 people in the span eleven years between 1934 and 1945 (Kaelber), leading
the United States into one of the darkest parts of our history.
Gregor Johann Mendel was an abbot at the St. Thomas Abbey in Brno, in the modern day Czech
Republic. He is credited as being the father of genetics because of his work crossbreeding pea plants
in order to favor certain traits such as height, color, and pod shape. He worked in the late 1850 s to the
early 1860 s. Even though farmers had been doing this similar practice for centuries, his experiments
established many of the heredity rules we now refer to as Mendelian inheritance. Around this time
another theory of genes was coming out from a man by the name of Sir Francis Galton. Galton is
credited as the Father of Eugenics and is also known for the popular phrase Nature vs Nurture . Galton
studied the upper class in Great Britain and believed came to the conclusion of their superior genetic

 Tagged Architecture, is very flexible memory protection mechanism. Each word in a memory has
an extra bits which dedicated to control access. In implementation of tagged architecture, one memory
word can be designed as a read only in order to protect data. Another memory word can be set as read
and write or execute only as exemplified of Figure 5. For example, in some cases some data values are
not changed such as student id, student nationality. Those data can be protected in read only memory
word. A few systems have a tagged architecture memory protection such as The IBM System/38, The
Burroughs B6500 7500 system, because it is expensive and compatibility of other hardware.

Strategic Strategy Of The Mp Program
The 2007 Joint Program Office Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (JPO MRAP) program differed
significantly from normal procurement programs in time of award, selection of vendors,
standardization of equipment design before fielding and level of pre production research. The MRAP
program acquired off the shelf assets which literally saved lives and provided the US time and space
to focus on achieving its stated strategic objectives. The closest process that resembled a rapid fielding

This realization lead to the Surge strategy developed in late 2006 . The tactical implications of the
surge in a COIN focused execution resulted in risking significantly greater numbers of soldiers to IED
attacks. Two critical vulnerabilities of US forces were the insufficient protection platforms for
transportation and limited road network available to move troops rapidly. The insurgent s ability in
2006 to attack US ground forces with IEDs was a critical capability which compromised US forces
combat mobility and effectiveness. In June 2006, IED incidents reached more than 2,000 per month.
At one point in 2006, coalition forces in Iraq were experiencing almost 100 IEDs per day . The DoD
acquisition strategy supporting the MRAP rapid fielding initiative is nested within the Joint
Capabilities Integration and Development System or JCIDS. Although it was an improvement over the
previous process known as the requirements generation system or RGS, it proved too glacial in
movement due to legislative restrictions and a risk aversion environment within the Pentagon. The
JCIDS was geared along strict cumbersome processes and focused almost exclusively on the
procurement of future based weapons systems. This mitigated any requirement that demanded
purchase in less than 2 to 3 years. The US Marines identified one way to acquire mine resistant

Comparsion Of The Differences Between The 1950 s And Today
There are many differences between today s entertainment and the past. From when the first

The most noticeable difference between the early television and today is the graphics. When the first

But you don t have to spend a lot of money to be fashionable this fall. Leggings are a great way to
update your wardrobe this fall without breaking the bank. They are a great transition piece of clothing
that lets you stretch your summer dresses into the fall. There are a few things to keep in mind while
shopping for leggings this fall: They are meant as an accessory NOT as a replacement for pants! The
easiest way to pull of leggings is to have your outfit FIRST and the leggings to the outfit. So, go
through your closet and take a look at what you already have, and which outfits would benefit by
adding leggings to them. This will help stretch your summer wardrobe into the fall without spending a
lot of money. When looking at your outfits take note of what colors are in your outfits. When shopping
you will want to match the neutral colors in your outfits to a neutral pair of leggings. Keep it neutral.
Keep up with the current trend by keeping your leggings black, dark brown or dark grey. Pairing black
leggings with a mostly black dress helps you look chic, longer, and leaner. If you go with bright
leggings you might look like you ve had them for a few decades, or be mistaken for wearing your high
school daughter s pair. Do not under any circumstances wear leggings with stirrups (the small band
that slides under your foot to keep them in place). This style is outdated. Your leggings should hit
about mid calf. If you are taller then they can be a little higher, but they shouldn t hit your knee. Please
note that there is a difference between leggings and footless tights/pantyhose! Footless pantyhose are
very light and sometimes see thru. Confusing the two could make for an embarrassing moment.
Leggings are not sold in the lingerie section. They are located with the other clothing, and usually near

Music In The Ted Talk
In the Ted Talk, To Hear This Music, You Have to be There, Ryan Holladay discusses the significant
impact that music can have on someone s traveling experience. Holladay has created an app that
allows the traveler to listen to a beautiful soundtrack that is based on where he/she is located in the
park. The app can only be heard within the park, which makes this app even more spectacular; the
producers do not want to sell the music outside of the park because it would take away the authenticity
of the soundtrack. The music is molded to how the park is laid out, so as he/she walks into the park,
he/she will listen to an orchestra warming up/practicing. As the individual gets further into the park,

One reason why I would decide to create a soundtrack for these particular places is because it would
allow the composer to have several genres of music rather than one. For example, if a plane was flying
over Texas, the passenger would be able to listen to popular country music; if the plane was flying
over New Orleans, he/she would be able listen to jazz music. Since some airlines do not provide
entertainment such as movies or television shows, listening to music would help the traveler relax and
enjoy the flight. Also, if the plane s route was going over several countries, the app would provide the

Persuasive Essay On Bilingual Education
In 1967, a senator in Texas named Ralph Yarborough introduced the Bilingual Education Act. Through
this act, the federal government was to provide funds to schools to have bilingual educational
programs. The act primarily focused on Spanish speaking children, but later was amended to benefit
other children as well (Glavin). Several states in the United States opposed bilingual education and in
2002, Initiative 31 was on the Colorado ballot. Initiative or Amendment 31, required schools to be
taught only in English (figure 1). Parents were given the option to request bilingual education, but it
would be extremely difficult for it to be accepted, due to schools having the right to deny their request.
Instead, non English speakers would be placed in an English immersion program. In this program,
students would be given a year to learn English and later move to a normal classroom ( Amendment
31 ). On November 5, 2002, the initiative was rejected by 55 percent (Benz 1). Considering the
rejection of the initiative, Colorado began adapting programs to assist English language learners
(ELLs). Nonetheless, dual language education remains highly controversial. While bilingual education
has many positive outcomes, we cannot ignore the fact that it is not 100 percent effective. Not every
child learns the same; therefore, bilingual education does not provide equal opportunities for
everyone. Instead of completely throwing bilingual education out the window, we should turn to

The Pareto Principle
Pareto s Principle 5 Implications For Online Businesses The Pareto Principle applies to a variety of
economic and business situations and states that roughly 80% of the outputs are directly attributable to
only 20% of the inputs. This concept is also frequently referred to as the 80/20 Principle or the Law of
the Vital Few.
The Pareto Principle is named for Italian economist, Vilfredo Federico Damaso Pareto who, in 1906,
discovered that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by only 20% of the people. Later he recognized
that same lop sided relationship applied to other things as well (e.g., gardening).
Note that the 80% and 20% are not absolute values; rather, it is simply the unequal distribution that is
significant.

Causes And Treatment Of Cervical Cancer
INTRODUCTION
Cervical cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the cervix or
cervix uteri. Cervical cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the fourth leading
cause of cancer death in females worldwide with over 527,000 new cases 1,2 and perhaps the second
most common cancer among women in the third world countries 3 5 It accounts for 9% of the total
new cancer cases and 8% (more than 265,000) of the total cancer deaths among females.1,2 More than
80% of these cases and deaths occur in developing countries.1 4
Although cancer of the cervix is known to be a preventable cancer, it still remains one of the major
causes of cancer deaths in females under 60 years old.1,2 In developed regions, ... Show more content

BACKGROUND
The cervix is the lower part or neck of the uterus (womb) connecting the body of the uterus to the
vagina (birth canal). It is a cylindrical structure, which lies below the internal os.11 13 The upper third
of the cervix is made up of columnar/glandular cells (similar to the rest of uterus). The lower two
thirds of the cervix is made up of squamous cells (similar to the vagina) see figure 1. The normal
squamocolumnar junction (transformation zone or T zone) is located in the ectocervix and can be
exposed to carcinogens, resulting in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), an abnormal proliferation
or overgrowth of the basal cell layer.11,12 The T zone is the most common site for cervical dysplasia
which is a premalignant condition to cervical cancer that results from an abnormal proliferation of
cells characterized by changes in cell size, shape, and loss of cellular organization.11,12
Approximately 90% of cervical cancers are squamous cell carcinomas.11,12,,14 Another 10% of
cervical cancers are of the adenocarcinoma type.11,12,14 Occasionally, the cancer may have
characteristics of both types and is called adenosquamous carcinoma or mixed carcinoma.11,12,14

Aboriginal Rights in Canada
There has been a great deal of contention over Aboriginal Rights in Canada. Much of this conflict can
be said to stem from the differences in both the philosophy and cultural systems of Aboriginal and non
aboriginal people, with much of it originating from the time of the original European settlement of
Canada (UBC Law, 2009). The focus of this conflict has been primarily on the rights to land, sea and
resources, as well as how the law is to apply to the Aboriginal peoples of Canada (UBC Law, 2009).
Contention on law began early into the colonization period. Originally the Royal Proclamation of
1763, set by the British Crown, was in place to protect the land rights of Canadian Aboriginals (UBC
Law, 2009). The Royal Proclamation recognized Aboriginal title, and sought to establish relations with
the Aboriginals (UBC Law, 2009). Ultimately, the proclamation meant that there was Crown
recognition of land ownership, and that Aboriginal authority would continue under North Americas
new British reign (UBC Law, 2009). In order to protect these land rights, a provision was made. The
provision states that only the British Crown had the ability to acquire land in Canada from the
Aboriginal community, and could only do so by treaty (UBC Law, 2009). Thus, the original Royal
Proclamation of 1763 served to protect Aboriginal land rights under the British Sovereignty.
However, despite British attempts to cement Aboriginal rights, the colonial governments did not
necessarily cooperate. In

The Themes In The Shawl By Cynthia Othick
The Short Story named The Shawl by Cynthia Othick narrates the survival of a mother, daughter and a
niece, during the Holocaust, them being in a concentration camp and participating in death marches. It
fits the theme of survival of the fittest as the daughter, named Magda, was forced to adapt to her needs
after the mother was not able to do it. Stella, the niece, is a third wheel in the story, she is most of the
time ignored by Rosa as she fully concentrates in taking care of Magda, or at least attempting to, and
Stella is just left their as somewhat of filling character. The obscurity of Stella is also stated by the

ABSTRACT
E procurement systems contribute largely to business and government institutes by increasing the
national productivity growth through removing of non value added activities in the process of
procurement. In many countries the adoption of these systems has been slow compared to
economically integrated regions such as Europe and North America. This study aims at exploring the
impact of electronic procurement systems for Australian organizations using the propagated
framework. The research will be used to develop an instrument to measure the success of the adoption,
help identify the barriers facing achieving success and establishment of a framework to promote
success
Key words: E procurement, technology adaption, IS success.

Abstract: The choice between fair value and historical cost accounting is the subject of longstanding
controversy among accounting academics and regulators. Nevertheless, the market based evidence on
this subject is very limited. We study the choice of fair value versus historical cost accounting for non
financial assets in a setting where market forces rather than regulators determine the outcome. In
general, we find a very limited use of fair value accounting. However, the observed variation is

We study valuation practices for arguably the most controversial (non financial) asset groups:
property, plant and equipment (PPE), investment property, and intangibles. Out of the twenty nine
European countries that mandated IFRS from 2005, we select the United Kingdom
(UK) and Germany because they have the largest financial markets in Europe and are historically at
opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of using fair value accounting under the local GAAP.
Specifically, for non financial assets, German GAAP allows only historical cost accounting, whereas
UK GAAP either allows (for PPE) or mandates (for investment property) fair value accounting. As a
result, IFRS expands the available valuation practices in both the UK and
Germany. Indeed, under IFRS, both fair value and historical cost are allowed for PPE and investment
property; and, if an active

Three Reasons To Have Your Home s Air Ducts Cleaned
You may go for years without having the air ducts in your home cleaned. If you maintain a clean home
and change the filters regularly on your HVAC system, dust may not accumulate very fast in the ducts.
It may be difficult to know when to have your ducts cleaned since they are difficult to see inside of.
Here are some signs that it s time to have the ducts cleaned and how to go about it.
When Dust Blows Out The Vents
When dust gets so bad that you see it coming out of the register vents, that s a sure sign the ducts need
cleaned. The contractor can use a brush and vacuum to clean off the sides of the ducts and pull the
dust out of your house. When your ducts are that full of dust, you should take a look at why. Maybe
you aren t changing the filters in your HVAC system as often as you should. Another possible cause is
letting dust accumulate in your house. To slow down the rate of dust accumulation in the air ducts,
vacuum your home regularly and keep surfaces dusted. Also, don t forget to change the filters in your
HVAC as often as recommended by the manufacturer. These steps could prolong the time until the
next cleaning is required and they could also improve the air quality in your home.
When Mold Is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The air blowing through the ducts could potentially spread the mold spores throughout your home.
Mold spores in the air could also aggravate your allergies. You may not be able to see the mold until
the contractor does an inspection, so you should suspect a problem if you notice a mildew odor when
the AC or furnace kicks on. Mold in the ducts is not a usual occurrence, so you ll want to know why it
s there so you can remedy the problem to keep the mold from returning. You might have a roof leak
that increases humidity in the attic or there could be water damage in your home now or in the past

Analysis Of The Poem Purloined Letter
Purloined Letter Essay
How does Poe bring about the idea of superiority in logical thinking over analysis of hard facts in his
short story Purloined Letter? Poe employs a technique of keeping the audience in the dark about what
the main character is thinking. There is a difference drawn between characters that use logic and
characters that use intuition. Intuition is always shown to have its short comings and logical thinking
is shown to get the main characters further into solving a case.
In the Purloined Letter Poe gives the reader little detail of how Dupin is solving the case in his head, at
first. Dupin is a character that doesn t rely on the plain facts in front of him. He uses psychological
analysis, forensics and looks deeper into the details of a crime. Throughout the whole short story the
Prefect of the police is explaining how detailed his investigation was and how baffled he still was.
This gives us the sense that the Prefect is not in the least unintelligent. At the end of his explanation
Dupin already has the letter and hands it over to the Prefect for the some of his earnings.
In that case, replied Dupin, opening a drawer, and producing a cheque book, you may as well fill me
up a cheque for the amount mentioned. When you have signed it, I will hand you the letter. (Poe 510).
It gives the reader a sense of bewilderment and left wondering how he did it. Then Dupin goes into a
detailed explanation of how he figured out where the letter was hidden through

Analysis Of The Movie The Dark Knight
What is the typical menu of villainous images placed before us when we dine out at a movie theater?
A scientist has his face deep cleaned in a bell jar of acid to the epidermal enthusiasm of his beauticians
(Darkman); a psychopathic criminal mastermind reigns chaos to the citizens of Gotham (The Dark
Knight) and another sequel, eight years on, despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The
Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent s crimes, caped crusader feels compelled to intervene
to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with the villain s (who knows the
caped crusader all too well) plans to destroy the city (The Dark Knight Rises). This raises the
question; Is the role of the villain in Hollywood important for a successful movie? In the movie
industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of revenue the movie brings in, creativity
(whether it be time frame or characters), and the story line of the movie. But in order to form a valid
opinion on whether or not a villain is needed in a movie to be considered successful, first we must
discuss the history of movies that included villains, iconic movie villains and the success of their
movies, and finally, the importance of the villain in cinema. Literature Review/Background America s
collective unconscious has always been reflected and amplified by the portrayal of Hollywood
villains. If one wanted to understand the big picture broad strokes of America, there is no better

George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader Essay
George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader
George Bush and Niccolo Machiavelli are two very influential political figures that share some similar
ideals. Machiavelli s work was never intended to be applied to republics, or a democratic government.
The advice written in The Prince would have likely been applied in the time of absolute government,
when countries were ruled by one leader. It is a work which, as Machiavelli himself says that his
philosophy is only applied to principalities, or what we call dictatorships in modern times.

And in case you missed the message, Russia has also agreed to supply advanced surface to air missiles
to Syria, the latest focus of U.S. ire in the Middle East again in defiance of Washington s stated wishes

Presently, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, India, and China have or can develop
devastating nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs can cause unfathomable destruction of land and people.
North Korea and Iran, the two very radical countries appear to be on the verge of making nuclear
bombs. Mr. Bush on his recent trip to Europe tried to rally support from major leaders to stop selling
nuclear material and secrets to these two states. His opposition of nuclear energy in the hands of
dictators is for the common good of America and other countries. It may not be fair or equitable to
keep the nuclear energy away from a certain group or state, but the result is focused mainly on the
security for the rest of the world.
Machiavelli also wrote how to govern dominions that are being occupied by people that live under
their own laws and values. His first edict reflects the Bush Administration s actions and decisions on
how to spread democracy in Iraq:
When those states which have been acquired are accustomed to live at liberty under their own laws,
there are three ways of holding them. The first is to despoil them; the second is to go and live there in

Heinz Ketchup
A Heinz Ketchup advertisement shows sliced tomatoes stacked haphazardly to form the general shape
of a bottle of ketchup. Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, No one grows
ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent that it is
effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style.
The form of this advertisement reflects the artist s intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup,
seem healthier. For example, the lines throughout are very clean and crisp, which gives an air of
freshness about the piece. Further, the implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato
slices is an innovative way for the artist to show that Heinz ketchup is made of just that, fresh
tomatoes. Also, both the foreground and background use a very strong color palette of red and white
with slight green accents to assist with the fresh feeling of the piece. With the way the space on the
page is handled, there is a very obvious focal point on the center of the page, focused on the implied
ketchup bottle. Using this simplistic composition shows the intention of the artist to leave this
advertisement feeling fresh and simple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The implied bottle of ketchup in the advertisement showcases the content simply and
straightforwardly. Additionally, by using the word grow in accompaniment with the image of fresh
tomatoes reinforces the idea that Heinz ketchup is fresh and healthy. Through the iconography of the
ketchup bottle, the advertisement shows the viewer that Heinz is a fresh, clean, and healthy

The Importance Of Word Superiority On Word Recognition
The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the effects of word frequency and superiority on word
recognition when considering three models of lexical access with these being the logogen, frequency
ordered bin search (FOBS) and TRACE models. Included in this analysis empirical proof from
research studies will be considered. It is vital to understand the relevance of the word frequency and
superiority effects before contemplating their role in the models of lexical access. Word frequency is
often associated with Balota and Chumbley (1984) as their research, comprising of three experiments
using 20 participants, demonstrates that the time taken to respond to a high frequency, commonly
occurring words was shorter than that of a low frequency when recognising words. Contrasting this,
Mosell, Doyle and Haggard (1989) observed this effect on a lexical decision and then a semantic
categorisation task. Their findings demonstrate that word frequency and response time are equally
related in all tasks involving word identification. Balota and Chumbley (1990) responded to the
criticism as they remain confident in their own findings supporting the view that word frequency
demonstrates that words we encounter on a daily basis require a shorter response time. The purpose of
the word superiority effect is explored in Reicher s (1969) study which used 9 female students. After
being extensively tested via forced choice letter recognition on ability to recognise varying stimuli (4

August 24th, 1814, should be one of the shameful dates that Americans are not willing to recall. On
that date, British army finally entered Washington and set fire to the White House, Capitol and other
government buildings after they had enjoyed the meal of President and seized all the treasures left.
According to many historical documents, even people lived in Baltimore, which is more than 40 miles
away, could see the fire at that time. And naturally, President Madison and many other government
officials escaped to Virginia on the panic. There is no doubt that it is quite a shame that the capital was
invaded by other countries, and several government buildings were burnt. But it seems strange that the
British army invaded Washington after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And thanks to Dolley Madison, the origin portrait of Washington was not left behind during the
fleeing, and or it would have become ashes. Interestingly, the order received by the commander of the
British army was not to attack, but he decided to ignore the order (Bush, 2014). As described at the
beginning, Major General Robert Ross and his army entered Washington but found no government
representative there, and soon they started to set fire. But it is worth mentioning that as the British
army said, which is that they were retaliating for what the American army did to Canada, generally,
the fire only burnt government buildings and affected very few residences (Graves,

Paine). The two stories Masque of the red death and Flight there is a discussion of finding oneself as
well as there virtues. In the story Flight , the main protagonist, Pepe has trouble growing into the man
his mother expects of him and is considered lazy. By the end of the story though Pepe finds his way to
becoming a man when it was needed, but learns the hard way. In Masque of the Red Death, a deadly
plague is rampaging society. While this is occuring the upper class throw a party to forget and distance
themselves away from the widespread agony taking place. The characters ethics must be called to
question and it is to be determined whether or not they deserved death ultimately. Edgar Allan Poe s
Masque of the Red Death and John Steinbeck s Flight both use different sources of conflict to convey
the idea of facing Reality and Disillusionment.
In both stories the characters go through internal conflict where they are met with disillusionment. In
Masque of the Red Death , the main character is going through an internal conflict. In the party that
was thrown, there came yet another chiming of the clock, and then were the same disconcert and

demonstrating death catching up to the main characters. This shows the internal conflict of the wealthy

Argumentative Essay On Shopping
Argument Essay
Shopping is one of the most common social activities in our life. Lingering in one store and another,
the customers are looking for the products that meet their requirements and making decisions to
purchase while enjoying the leisure time with their families or friends. At the same time, to achieve a
better business performance, the retailers try to attract the customers to pay more attention to the
products and stay longer in their stores by using various kinds of technologies to surveil the shoppers,
such as using cameras to monitor their shopping behavior, tracking their purchased items, and even
analyzing these consumers background. However, the surveillance of consumers by retail

As Ray Burke talked about in his speech How stores track your shopping behavior / Ray Burke /
TEDx Indianapolis , the retailers, such as the Marsh supermarkets, are analyzing the backgrounds and
the family structures of the consumers which are their personal information, which may get them in a
dangerous situation when these data are disclosed to the third parties such as someone with nefarious
purposes and the fraud companies. If these data of the information is running without regulation and
protection, it would be easy to be used by those who want to defraud the customers. The methods used
by the retail industry as an undercurrent manipulation are not only gathering information through the
check out scanner but also recording videos through cameras as well as many other ways such as
analyzing the search records of an individual who shop online, which may provide some malicious
people with the access to the personal information. As the result, there are many people have received
tons of spammers which include numerous false advertisement due to the information leaks. On the
other hand, as to those VCRs, such as the videotape library of Paco Underhill, according to The
Science of Shopping (Malcolm Gladwell), things will turn out to be terrible if these videos resource

The Sacrifice Of Iphigenia Essay
The Comparison of The Sacrifice of Iphigenia and Iphigenia
In the painting The Sacrifice of Iphigenia, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo uses the people in the painting to
show the suspense of something in their presence, like a disturbance, while in the poem Iphigenia,
Alfred Lord Tennyson uses the same scene to show the suspense is all toward the sacrifice of
Iphigenia. Although in the painting people are fixed on something in the top left corner of the painting
or the cloud holding an animal and a human, there isn t an explanation on what they were looking at.
In the poem you understand the emotion of sadness Iphigenia is expressing, but in the painting you
cannot tell because she is fixed onto the something in the top left corner like everyone ... Show more

He was born August 6th, 1809 in Somersby, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. He was born the fourth
son of twelve children. Part of the family heritage was a strain of epilepsy. One of Tennyson s brothers
was confined to an insane asylum most of his life, another had recurrent bouts of addiction to drugs, a
third had to be put into a mental hospital because of his alcoholism, another was intermittently
confined and died relatively young. The combination of the deaths of his father and his best friend, the
brutal reviews of his poems, his conviction that both he and his family were in desperate poverty, his
feelings of isolation in the depth of the country and his ill concealed fears that he might become a
victim of epilepsy, madness, alcohol, and drugs, as others in his family had, or even die like Hallam
was more than enough to upset the always fragile balance of Tennyson s emotion. (Alfred Lord
Tennyson, npag) It is not very hard to look down upon the Tennyson family because of all of their
struggles but Alfred changed the Tennyson s family name a bit. All of his life he used writing as a way
of taking his mind from his troubles. ( Alfred, Lord Tennyson . npag) He died October 6th, 1892 in

Persuasive White House
White is one of those shades that we often avoid at all costs in a kid s bedroom doors since it stains
very easily and takes a lot of work to keep clean and looking great. In most children s bedrooms, the
only place that you will see white is on the ceiling, with most parents taking the stand of banishing
white doors from a kid s bedroom. Here are just a few alternatives that make a great replacement for
white bedroom doors in your child s room: Natural wood finishes are high, but faux wood materials
that are more durable are a better choice. Your priority in a kid s bedroom doors is durability.
Otherwise, you will be replacing the door far more often than you would like. Natural woods are easy
to scratch, stain very easily, and cost a lot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, crayons, food, gum, dirt, mud, pencils, and markers leave marks that are almost
impossible to get rid of totally and to even make a dent in the stain you have to buy special products.
Pen, marker, and gum rarely come off entirely, leaving some trace of the original stain. Some color
options will not have this problem; such as black and some wood finish shades. Consider this
scenario: Your six year old son comes running in the house after an afternoon playing outside. His feet
and hands are covered in mud, grass, and grime, and the first place he is heading is not likely to be the
bathroom if he can sneak past Mom. Browns and black hide more than just stains on your child s
bedroom doors. We mostly consider the entry door for the bedroom, but this also applies to closet
doors and bathroom doors for some kids rooms. Many shades of brown and black hide the stains we
have already gone over, but they also mask scuff marks, small scratches, and minor dings. White doors
show everything, including the smallest ding, nick, mark, scratch, or scrape. As you make plans to do
your spring cleaning or just think about touching up the details in the house, those white doors will
often be the first things that catch your

Terrorism and the Causes of Terrorist Attacks Essay
The continuing successful and attempted terrorist attacks in the USA and the endless wars and
conflicts in which we are involved are caused by the very same reasons experienced in the expansion
of Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries. The economic, political, and cultural conditions present
in each of these periods in history, although hundreds of years apart, are still very much alike. The
same desires for money, relations between different countries, and differing religious views are what
caused this tragedy and similar conflicts during the expansion of Europe. By examining these causes
in the present as well as in the past, Americans might have a better understanding of the current
situation and come up with some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The expedition of Hernán Cortés and the conquistadors, one of Spain s later voyages, showed that a
common cause for mass violence and tragedy is found in the human desire for wealth. Cortés main
goal was at first just to develop trade with the Mexican mainland. But when he learned of the rich
Aztec empire and their gold, he began to exploit and conquer them (Bulliet et al. 437). Cortés
accurately portrays the human desire of greed in the following quote taken from the class film
Conquistadors, Do you have more gold? For we re troubled from a disease of the heart that can only
be cured by gold. This was just the beginning of the problem. As soon as the Aztecs had brought the
conquistadors gifts of gold as a symbol of peace, Cortés and his men had already set out to overthrow
the Aztecs. Despite Cortés s initial promise that he came in friendship, Moctezuma quickly found
himself a prisoner in his own palace. His treasury was looted, its gold melted down. Soon a battle was
raging in and about the capital between the Spaniards and the Aztecs (Bulliet et al. 438). The greed
initiated at this period in history has been copied by the terrorists.
Similar to the conquest made by Cortés, the attack on the World Trade Center was also said to have
profited the terrorists. The way in which they accomplished this was by selling their stocks right
before the day of the attack and

Talent Management Strategy Talent Management Strategy Alicia Cann Dr. Zelphia Brown, SPHR HRM532 Talent Management 5/12/13 Formulate a talent management strategy to encompass the entire talent requirements of the organization. When discussing and planning your organization s future, it s important to consider not just the goals, objectives, and initiatives, but clearly how to accomplish them. The most important contributor is undoubtedly your employees. Promoting from within your organization is more cost effective and encourages employee engagement and loyalty. Its end goal is to make sure that roles align with your business strategy to achieve its goals. It develops goals for success, supports employee development, and moves the organization in a positive direction. Learning and Motivating sounds like two components but they actually go hand in hand. Learning is more than just training it is the acquirement of information and skills, which in turn gives way to knowledge and experience. To be effective learning programs need to include behavior based activities and tasks that support the organization s culture and proposals. The motivation comes in when employees see how their growth impacts the organization, and realize just how valuable their role is. Career Development ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. King Tutankhamun Research Paper King Tutankhamun Over 3,300 years ago, a young King, known as Tutankhamen, inherited the rule of the Egyptian kingdom. Tutankhamen was only nine years old at the time. Guardian officials tended to political duties while the boy matured into manhood. As the years pasted, Tutankhamen s name became widely known. In the young kings life, he wife Ankhesenpaaten was unable to birth a son, but she did have the misfortune of miscarrying two daughters. Then when Tutankhamen was nineteen , he died and left his empire in shambles. It s still a mystery if the King was murdered or if his death was an accident. In year 1922 Tutenhamen finally became known when Howard Carter discovered the young kings tombtomb. As a result of the discoverey of him tomb mulitple leads were uncovered. A letter was written to King Hitties which asked him to send her a groom to share the throne with her, this was probably her last effort to hold onto power. There are documents that prove Hittie sent prince Zannanza to Egypt, but he somehow disappeared on the way. Still what really happened after the young kings death is a mystery most Egyptologists would love to solve. (Editors, Biography.com 2016) King Tuts tomb was found untouched although the peripheral rooms were looted. Tut was lavished with many jewels, all made of pure gold. Paintings surrounded the walls of the tomb describing the first stages of his transition to the afterlife. Researchers believe that Nefertiti might be buried behind the wall of king Tut s tomb. Also, the tomb may have included Tut s older sister Mertitaten , and his mother Kiya. Other theory is that these extra chambers might be storage chambers, either way whatever is behind that wall can tell us more about the king and his heritage. (Jarus ... • 5. Essay On I Have The Right To Bear Arms Within the past half century, gun control has become a heated debate topic between Americans. The United States Federal government should not increase gun control regulations. The second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. By this, it is understood that each citizen has the right to possess firearms and use them under the realms of a cautious manner. This amendment was written under the intentions of protecting Americans from dangers, both foreign and domestic. After experiencing the tyranny of Britain, Americans wanted to ensure protection for both themselves and their loved ones from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976, Washington D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to 364 in 1988 and continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to 88 annual murders in 2012. This statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law abiding citizens is ineffective in decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way to obtain a gun even with a gun ban in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the criminals will have defenseless victims to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans into place in the past. However, these regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the ineffectiveness of gun bans and the overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be in best interest, for the safety of Americans, to not implement an increase on Federal gun control ... When a business is run as a single proprietor means that the owner is solely responsible and liable for the actions of the company. The risk and the liability are that the personal assets such as house, car, land, or bank savings are also part of the business. There is no legal separation of the assets between the business and the owner of the business. For example, if the single proprietor defaults on a bank loan or there is an accident on one of the employees, the owner is the sole responsible. The voices of Christophine and Daniel Cosway have a presence in the novel unrivalled by the other characters in terms of expression and power. Christophine is the slave of Antoinette s mother, given to her on her wedding day; she is present throughout Antoinette s childhood and becomes her mother figure. His use of direct address within the letter is persuasive and threatening, you ask me what proof I have and why I mix myself up in your affairs. I will answer you. Furthermore, the short sentences convey his aggression. He is writing from an emotionally charged position, full of vengeance towards the Cosways: Her father and mine was a shameless man and of all his illegitimates I am the most unfortunate and poverty stricken. The use of hyperbole here emphasises his rage. Again he is threatening, No, that old devil don t like me at all, and when I grow older I see it and think, Let him wait my day will come. The last part of that sentence is evocative of biblical language and style, the capitalisation of Let increases the effect. His use of juxtaposition, But they are white, I am coloured. Constructivism is the only cognitive behavioral theory I have used to influence my personal theory; this is because it, focuses on the interdependence of thinking, feeling, and behavior... (Okun Kantrowitz, 2015, p. 152). Constructivism is also phenomenological being that, it focuses on one s subjective view of self, of others, and of the world (Okun Kantrowitz, 2015, p. 152). Like the other theories and my own theory, Constructivism values a warm helping relationship, believes people have free will, and evokes responsibility within the client. Without this theory, my personal theory would be very affective, and as much as love the affective strategy, I need to address behaviors and thoughts as well. The constructivism approach values all three of these equally, which is why I like it so much and believe it is so effective. By incorporating this theory, I am also considering but not focusing on the client s past, which impacts their present and future. • 10. Theme Of Loss In Chaucer s Poem Book Of The Duchess In Geoffrey Chaucer s dream vision poem, The Book of the Duchess, the theme of loss seems to be very prevalent. Loss can be found in the dreamer s lack of sleep, Alcyone s loss of her husband, and the Knight s loss of his lady. Loss can also be noticed in events outside of the book with the death of Blanche, Duchess of Lancaster and wife of Chaucer s benefactor, John of Gaunt. This poem is believed to be an elegy that was composed for one of Blanche s later commemoration services. I do agree with that theory and have found evidence to support it. The first part of this is that there has been may handwritten notes that suggest The Book of the Duchess had been written at the request of John of Gaunt. Secondly, evidence is in the date in which the poem should have been written. This was around 1368 1371. The death of Blanch occurred on September 12, 1368 and the poem would have been written afterwards for one of her commemoration services. The exact date of the poem is unclear, but it should have been written before 1971. In that year, the Duke had married Constance of Castile. Gwen M. Thus because no one realized the true potential of the internet (nor was the technology available at the time), no great amount of information was transferred from computer to computer, at least by the average person. Each file had to be transferred physically by floppy discs that could only hold an insignificant 1.44 Megabytes. Sure, you could still share files back then, but this required the physical act of getting the disk, transferring it to your computer, and then copying the file. All this took a relatively large amount of effort compared to the copy and paste methods of copying files today. After a while around 1995, a small underground network of file sharing developed through the use of a medium known as mIRC. m IRC is basically the early version of today s chat rooms with the exception that most users identities can be kept hidden from one another while still allowing the users to exchange information freely. Eugenics, derived from the Greek word eugenes meaning well born, is defined as the study or belief that by encouraging people with good genetic traits to reproduce and discourage those people with less desirable traits the human race can benefit. There were certain groups of people who were affected by these sterilization laws, including people that were mentally disabled or ill and those from socially unacceptable areas of life, that were adopted in 32 states starting in the 1930 s. These sterilizations were done on over 350,000 people in the span eleven years between 1934 and 1945 (Kaelber), leading the United States into one of the darkest parts of our history. Gregor Johann Mendel was an abbot at the St. Thomas Abbey in Brno, in the modern day Czech Republic. He is credited as being the father of genetics because of his work crossbreeding pea plants in order to favor certain traits such as height, color, and pod shape. He worked in the late 1850 s to the early 1860 s. Even though farmers had been doing this similar practice for centuries, his experiments established many of the heredity rules we now refer to as Mendelian inheritance. Around this time another theory of genes was coming out from a man by the name of Sir Francis Galton. The MRAP program acquired off the shelf assets which literally saved lives and provided the US time and space to focus on achieving its stated strategic objectives. The closest process that resembled a rapid fielding initiative before 2007 was the US Marine Corps Urgent Universal Need Statement (UUNS) . The tactical implications of the surge in a COIN focused execution resulted in risking significantly greater numbers of soldiers to IED attacks. Two critical vulnerabilities of US forces were the insufficient protection platforms for transportation and limited road network available to move troops rapidly. The insurgent s ability in 2006 to attack US ground forces with IEDs was a critical capability which compromised US forces combat mobility and effectiveness. In June 2006, IED incidents reached more than 2,000 per month. At one point in 2006, coalition forces in Iraq were experiencing almost 100 IEDs per day . The DoD acquisition strategy supporting the MRAP rapid fielding initiative is nested within the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System or JCIDS. Although it was an improvement over the previous process known as the requirements generation system or RGS, it proved too glacial in movement due to legislative restrictions and a risk aversion environment within the Pentagon. This year the fashion on the red carpet had some hits some misses, some surprises and some of what was expected. Some specific trends were definitely dominating this year on the red carpet. Some of the major trends that were seen over and over aging at this year s ceremony are listed below. Many bare necks were seen this year when actresses came with no necklaces on. Leggings are a great way to update your wardrobe this fall without breaking the bank. They are a great transition piece of clothing that lets you stretch your summer dresses into the fall. There are a few things to keep in mind while shopping for leggings this fall: They are meant as an accessory NOT as a replacement for pants! The easiest way to pull of leggings is to have your outfit FIRST and the leggings to the outfit. So, go through your closet and take a look at what you already have, and which outfits would benefit by adding leggings to them. This will help stretch your summer wardrobe into the fall without spending a lot of money. When looking at your outfits take note of what colors are in your outfits. When shopping you will want to match the neutral colors in your outfits to a neutral pair of leggings. Keep it neutral. Keep up with the current trend by keeping your leggings black, dark brown or dark grey. Pairing black leggings with a mostly black dress helps you look chic, longer, and leaner. If you go with bright leggings you might look like you ve had them for a few decades, or be mistaken for wearing your high school daughter s pair. Do not under any circumstances wear leggings with stirrups (the small band that slides under your foot to keep them in place). This style is outdated. Your leggings should hit about mid calf. If you are taller then they can be a little higher, but they shouldn t hit your knee. Please note that there is a difference between leggings and footless tights/pantyhose! Footless pantyhose are very light and sometimes see thru. Confusing the two could make for an embarrassing moment. Leggings are not sold in the lingerie section. • 19. Music In The Ted Talk In the Ted Talk, To Hear This Music, You Have to be There, Ryan Holladay discusses the significant impact that music can have on someone s traveling experience. Holladay has created an app that allows the traveler to listen to a beautiful soundtrack that is based on where he/she is located in the park. The app can only be heard within the park, which makes this app even more spectacular; the producers do not want to sell the music outside of the park because it would take away the authenticity of the soundtrack. One reason why I would decide to create a soundtrack for these particular places is because it would allow the composer to have several genres of music rather than one. For example, if a plane was flying over Texas, the passenger would be able to listen to popular country music; if the plane was flying over New Orleans, he/she would be able listen to jazz music. Since some airlines do not provide entertainment such as movies or television shows, listening to music would help the traveler relax and enjoy the flight. Also, if the plane s route was going over several countries, the app would provide the tourist a range of music from different regions. This app would allow the passengers to learn about the country s history and culture. Every country has their own unique music; Italy is famous for folk music and opera, Columbia is known for vallenato, and African music includes Talking Drums, Bougarabou, and Djembes. While on a plane or cruise, not many passengers are aware of their location, but with this app, passengers will be aware of where they are. Also, as the plane or cruise makes its way through different regions of the country, the music would change to fit the particular music played in that province. • 20. Persuasive Essay On Bilingual Education In 1967, a senator in Texas named Ralph Yarborough introduced the Bilingual Education Act. Through this act, the federal government was to provide funds to schools to have bilingual educational programs. The act primarily focused on Spanish speaking children, but later was amended to benefit other children as well (Glavin). Several states in the United States opposed bilingual education and in 2002, Initiative 31 was on the Colorado ballot. Initiative or Amendment 31, required schools to be taught only in English (figure 1). Parents were given the option to request bilingual education, but it would be extremely difficult for it to be accepted, due to schools having the right to deny their request. Instead, non English speakers would be placed in an English immersion program. In this program, students would be given a year to learn English and later move to a normal classroom ( Amendment 31 ). On November 5, 2002, the initiative was rejected by 55 percent (Benz 1). Considering the rejection of the initiative, Colorado began adapting programs to assist English language learners (ELLs). Nonetheless, dual language education remains highly controversial. While bilingual education has many positive outcomes, we cannot ignore the fact that it is not 100 percent effective. Not every child learns the same; therefore, bilingual education does not provide equal opportunities for everyone. Instead of completely throwing bilingual education out the window, we should turn to alternatives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pareto Principle Pareto s Principle 5 Implications For Online Businesses The Pareto Principle applies to a variety of economic and business situations and states that roughly 80% of the outputs are directly attributable to only 20% of the inputs. This concept is also frequently referred to as the 80/20 Principle or the Law of the Vital Few. The Pareto Principle is named for Italian economist, Vilfredo Federico Damaso Pareto who, in 1906, discovered that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by only 20% of the people. Later he recognized that same lop sided relationship applied to other things as well (e.g., gardening). • 24. Aboriginal Rights in Canada There has been a great deal of contention over Aboriginal Rights in Canada. Much of this conflict can be said to stem from the differences in both the philosophy and cultural systems of Aboriginal and non aboriginal people, with much of it originating from the time of the original European settlement of Canada (UBC Law, 2009). The focus of this conflict has been primarily on the rights to land, sea and resources, as well as how the law is to apply to the Aboriginal peoples of Canada (UBC Law, 2009). Contention on law began early into the colonization period. Originally the Royal Proclamation of 1763, set by the British Crown, was in place to protect the land rights of Canadian Aboriginals (UBC Law, 2009). The Royal Proclamation recognized Aboriginal title, and sought to establish relations with the Aboriginals (UBC Law, 2009). Ultimately, the proclamation meant that there was Crown recognition of land ownership, and that Aboriginal authority would continue under North Americas new British reign (UBC Law, 2009). In order to protect these land rights, a provision was made. The provision states that only the British Crown had the ability to acquire land in Canada from the Aboriginal community, and could only do so by treaty (UBC Law, 2009). Thus, the original Royal Proclamation of 1763 served to protect Aboriginal land rights under the British Sovereignty. However, despite British attempts to cement Aboriginal rights, the colonial governments did not necessarily cooperate. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result, IFRS expands the available valuation practices in both the UK and Germany. Analysis Of The Poem Purloined Letter Purloined Letter Essay How does Poe bring about the idea of superiority in logical thinking over analysis of hard facts in his short story Purloined Letter? Poe employs a technique of keeping the audience in the dark about what the main character is thinking. There is a difference drawn between characters that use logic and characters that use intuition. Intuition is always shown to have its short comings and logical thinking is shown to get the main characters further into solving a case. In the Purloined Letter Poe gives the reader little detail of how Dupin is solving the case in his head, at first. Dupin is a character that doesn t rely on the plain facts in front of him. He uses psychological analysis, forensics and looks deeper into the details of a crime. Throughout the whole short story the Prefect of the police is explaining how detailed his investigation was and how baffled he still was. This gives us the sense that the Prefect is not in the least unintelligent. At the end of his explanation Dupin already has the letter and hands it over to the Prefect for the some of his earnings. In that case, replied Dupin, opening a drawer, and producing a cheque book, you may as well fill me up a cheque for the amount mentioned. When you have signed it, I will hand you the letter. • 41. Analysis Of The Movie The Dark Knight What is the typical menu of villainous images placed before us when we dine out at a movie theater? A scientist has his face deep cleaned in a bell jar of acid to the epidermal enthusiasm of his beauticians (Darkman); a psychopathic criminal mastermind reigns chaos to the citizens of Gotham (The Dark Knight) and another sequel, eight years on, despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent s crimes, caped crusader feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with the villain s (who knows the caped crusader all too well) plans to destroy the city (The Dark Knight Rises). This raises the question; Is the role of the villain in Hollywood important for a successful movie? In the movie industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of revenue the movie brings in, creativity (whether it be time frame or characters), and the story line of the movie. But in order to form a valid opinion on whether or not a villain is needed in a movie to be considered successful, first we must discuss the history of movies that included villains, iconic movie villains and the success of their movies, and finally, the importance of the villain in cinema. Literature Review/Background America s collective unconscious has always been reflected and amplified by the portrayal of Hollywood villains. George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader Essay George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader George Bush and Niccolo Machiavelli are two very influential political figures that share some similar ideals. Machiavelli s work was never intended to be applied to republics, or a democratic government. The advice written in The Prince would have likely been applied in the time of absolute government, when countries were ruled by one leader. It is a work which, as Machiavelli himself says that his philosophy is only applied to principalities, or what we call dictatorships in modern times. North Korea and Iran, the two very radical countries appear to be on the verge of making nuclear bombs. Mr. Bush on his recent trip to Europe tried to rally support from major leaders to stop selling nuclear material and secrets to these two states. His opposition of nuclear energy in the hands of dictators is for the common good of America and other countries. It may not be fair or equitable to keep the nuclear energy away from a certain group or state, but the result is focused mainly on the security for the rest of the world. Machiavelli also wrote how to govern dominions that are being occupied by people that live under their own laws and values. His first edict reflects the Bush Administration s actions and decisions on how to spread democracy in Iraq: When those states which have been acquired are accustomed to live at liberty under their own laws, there are three ways of holding them. Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, No one grows ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent that it is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style. The form of this advertisement reflects the artist s intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup, seem healthier. For example, the lines throughout are very clean and crisp, which gives an air of freshness about the piece. Further, the implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato slices is an innovative way for the artist to show that Heinz ketchup is made of just that, fresh tomatoes. Also, both the foreground and background use a very strong color palette of red and white with slight green accents to assist with the fresh feeling of the piece. With the way the space on the page is handled, there is a very obvious focal point on the center of the page, focused on the implied ketchup bottle. • 44. The Importance Of Word Superiority On Word Recognition The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the effects of word frequency and superiority on word recognition when considering three models of lexical access with these being the logogen, frequency ordered bin search (FOBS) and TRACE models. Included in this analysis empirical proof from research studies will be considered. It is vital to understand the relevance of the word frequency and superiority effects before contemplating their role in the models of lexical access. Word frequency is often associated with Balota and Chumbley (1984) as their research, comprising of three experiments using 20 participants, demonstrates that the time taken to respond to a high frequency, commonly occurring words was shorter than that of a low frequency when recognising words. Contrasting this, Mosell, Doyle and Haggard (1989) observed this effect on a lexical decision and then a semantic categorisation task. Their findings demonstrate that word frequency and response time are equally related in all tasks involving word identification. Balota and Chumbley (1990) responded to the criticism as they remain confident in their own findings supporting the view that word frequency demonstrates that words we encounter on a daily basis require a shorter response time. The purpose of the word superiority effect is explored in Reicher s (1969) study which used 9 female students. After being extensively tested via forced choice letter recognition on ability to recognise varying stimuli (4 letter words ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Persuasive White House White is one of those shades that we often avoid at all costs in a kid s bedroom doors since it stains very easily and takes a lot of work to keep clean and looking great. In most children s bedrooms, the only place that you will see white is on the ceiling, with most parents taking the stand of banishing white doors from a kid s bedroom. Here are just a few alternatives that make a great replacement for white bedroom doors in your child s room: Natural wood finishes are high, but faux wood materials that are more durable are a better choice. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The expedition of Hernán Cortés and the conquistadors, one of Spain s later voyages, showed that a common cause for mass violence and tragedy is found in the human desire for wealth. Cortés main goal was at first just to develop trade with the Mexican mainland. But when he learned of the rich Aztec empire and their gold, he began to exploit and conquer them (Bulliet et al. 437). Cortés accurately portrays the human desire of greed in the following quote taken from the class film Conquistadors, Do you have more gold? For we re troubled from a disease of the heart that can only be cured by gold. This was just the beginning of the problem. As soon as the Aztecs had brought the conquistadors gifts of gold as a symbol of peace, Cortés and his men had already set out to overthrow the Aztecs. Despite Cortés s initial promise that he came in friendship, Moctezuma quickly found himself a prisoner in his own palace. His treasury was looted, its gold melted down. Soon a battle was raging in and about the capital between the Spaniards and the Aztecs (Bulliet et al. 438). The greed initiated at this period in history has been copied by the terrorists. Similar to the conquest made by Cortés, the attack on the World Trade Center was also said to have profited the terrorists. The way in which they accomplished this was by selling their stocks right before the day of the attack and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
