Marilyn Monroe In The Asphalt Jungle
If I m a star, then the people made me a star. ~Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was a very unique
and well known person to a lot of people. She has a generous heart and strong independence. You
know, most people don t really know me. ~Marilyn Monroe. This quote is true for many people. We
think we know who she is, but once you start asking questions you find things you never thought
would be true. Never judge a book by it s cover, My dinners at home are startlingly simple. Every
night, I stop at the market near my hotel and pick up some steak, lamb chops or some liver, which I
boil in the electric oven in my room. I usually eat four or five carrots with my meat, and that is all. I
must be part rabbit; I never get tired of carrots. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marilyn Monroe did an abundance of things for others in need. She performed at the Hollywood Bowl
for a fundraising event to help underprivileged children at St. Jude hospital. She worked with the
World Adoption International Fund to help more than 50,000 abandoned kids get adopted. The one
thing that is remarkable is perfectly said by Andrew Mersmann This one is well known: Marilyn
visited an orphanage in Mexico and wrote a check for $1000 while the press was there and after they
left she tore it up and wrote a new one for $10,000. (Mersmann). These are just a few of the amazing
things Marilyn did over her lifetime and she used her talent too help others too. There is one more

Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay
Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can
communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile
devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission
range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should
be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic
nature. For routing of information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through
intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network
performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues
in MANET.
Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue.
INTRODUCTION
Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All the
nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as per the
requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single hop and
those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach destination
Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network
Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through
intermediate nodes.
Even though MANET networks provides many advantages like scalability, flexibility, robustness, self

Hilton Hotels Case Analysis Essay
The purpose of this case analysis is to address the key marketing issue for the Hilton Hotels. The
marketing strategies Hilton should pursue in the hotel and gaming markets will be discussed and
recommendations will be made. In addition, the use and implementation of the SWOT analysis will be
incorporated throughout the discussion. Information will be provided from the case study and the use
of secondary resources for support of the marketing strategies recommended for the Hilton Hotels.
Market Summary
Hilton Hotels is one of the market leaders in the hotel and gaming industry in the United States. Hilton
is a well known and distinguished name in fine hotels across the United States and worldwide. In
1999, Hilton expanded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the cost of entertainment is a significant expense for hotels, the cost of providing
entertainment is justified by its effectiveness in attracting people to the gaming tables and machines
(McDonald, 1998, p. 4). The market is also demonstrating a trend of hotels becoming a one stop shop.
For example, hotels are not only including room stay but also gaming, entertainment, shopping,
comedy clubs, lounges, nail and hair salons and other activities and amenities desired by consumers.
This trend is demonstrating the evolution of hotels into destination resorts.
Market Growth
The market has demonstrated an increase in growth over the last decade. Sales for Hilton have also
demonstrated a steady increase, particularly once the hotels expanded to include gaming and
entertainment. Competition for the gaming dollar is intense, and the degree of investment needed to be
successful is high. Hilton has had to put more than $6 million into renovating the Las Vegas Hilton to
keep up with such rivals as the Mirage and the Excalibur (McDonald, 1998, p. 3). In addition, the
hotel market has demonstrated a consistently high occupancy rate, particularly the Hilton hotels. In
1994, Hilton hotels showed system wide occupancy of 70 percent, a three point increase over 1993,
while the U.S. hotel industry as a whole had

Hiroaki (Rocky) Aoki and Benihana s
In 1964, Hiroaki (Rocky) Aoki opened the first Benihana s on the West Side of New York City. This
would prove to be a beautifully planned opportunity for the young restaurateur in that the idea and
marketing approach was unique. This concept has outlived other competitors as well as proved to be
worthy of expansion. The concept has not changed in the forty years of the business. However there
are certain opportunities that have displayed themselves to Rocky. This has proved to be difficult for
the management to adapt to. There are questions of expansion, franchisizing, which has already been
attempted, expansions into other realms of business and as well as selling products under the brand
name. This of course will raise many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, research should be conducted into the concept of fast food chains. It is strictly
recommended to change the name of these restaurants and associate only by affiliation. Monitoring of
this can be conducted in the same way as the marketing research provided in the case. A question that
should be addressed is whether or not the attitudes/perceptions of clientele would change after
knowing that Benihana also had a fast food change. Immediate disengagement from the fast food
chain is recommended if either the fast food chain or Benihana s experience profit loss. Expansion in
to the production line type environment is strictly discouraged. It has been shown that the Benihana
model works with the combination of food quality, service and atmosphere. The hurdle from this
concept to being known only for the food quality is too costly and may prove to be unsuccessful in the
future. At the same time, the name would have to display the Benihana name to promote that quality.
If this concept were to fail, this could later have a damaging effect upon the Benihana name itself.
Therefore, it is recommended that the product line concept be discarded. Modifications within the
Benihana model could also prove to be very costly. The side effects could prove disastrous to the
name as well as take away from the three pointed model. By changing the interior or the service team,
Rocky would be

Persuasive Essay On The Case For Gold
Introduction Watching television, we all see the commercials persuading people to buy and sell gold.
They argue that gold is a valuable resource that will always be so. Whether this is true has been a
controversial issue over many years. People debate over whether it is more beneficial to buy gold or
invest money in something else. Popular financial magazines have weighed in on the debate. Whether
people should invest gold or save their money is an issue people are willing to research. There are
many reasons why people may want gold maybe to give to a loved one or too safe for later use and
others decided whether or not gold is a good investment. People who invest in gold, not those who just

Describes the evolution of gold s value from the peak of peoples interest in it to its recent downfall.
The article begins by explaining the price of gold. It then gives three reasons for owning gold. The
first one being gold mining production to decline over the next years by 7%, which in turn will
support gold prices. It also states that even though the price for gold has decreased to 1,100 an ounce it
is expected to increases do with this factor. A Wall Street Journal, article The Case for Gold by
Lindsay Gellman starts off by describing how gold prices have dropped in the recent years, butt then
argues that the key to gold is not to think of the now but to think of the long term. It states that even
though prices are low, in the long run, they will double. Just like the Forbes article Gellman s article
argues that gold Supply will likely Plateau or drop, pushing prices up. Both of these articles suggest
that by 2020 the price of gold will be more than $2,000 an ounce, saying it is best to start buying now.
They both point to historical and contemporary moments, and reasons that buying gold will be

This current paper will examine the history, social factors, and economic impact of the prohibition of
alcohol in the United States. Ken Burns and Lynn Novick (2011) delve into the topic of alcohol in
America in their documentary Prohibition, and this paper will discuss the events before, during, and
after the prohibition of alcohol in the United States. This paper will also relate the prohibition of
alcohol to the current drug policies of cocaine in the United States. Alcohol and cocaine were both
prohibited in the United States in the early 1900 s. Cocaine was used as an anesthesia and medication
in the early days of America until the drug was abused, and the legislature of the day deemed cocaine

Francis E. Willard would soon become the leader of the Women s Christian Temperance Union

Novick, 2011). Hunt influenced textbook publishers to let the WCTU s message be heard in the public
school system. Hunt s efforts were in good practice, and the public school system would start using
terribly fictitious propaganda against alcohol as part of the education program (Burns Novick, 2011).

Arthur Miller s Essay Tragedy And The Common Man
In Arthur Miller s essay, Tragedy and the Common Man, Miller in fact is right about his thesis. He
believes that the common man can experience tragedy. The character who experiences the tragedy,
challenges authority; regardless if they are the common man, or a person with power. Secondly,
tragedy can be found anywhere. Even though men believe that in modern age heroes and tragedies do
not occur, there is always a possibility that the common man is able to face the worst of tragedies. One
of main events that occur in a tragic play is an event in which a tragic hero risks their life by
challenging a person in authority. It is unfair to assume that an unfortunate event in the life of a person
is insignificant due to the fact that they do not

Mao Effects
In order to fully understand the effects of Mao in power, we must first understand those in power
before him. Before Mao and his Chinese revolution to the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949, China
s leading party was the Chinese Nationalist Party (also known as KMT). In 1912, Yuan Shikai became
president of the KMT and soon began to ignore the parliament and make his own decisions. This,
inadvertently, started the degradation of the KMT and the result was widespread corruption. This
resulted in exploitation of the working class (around 90% of the population), and prioritised the
middle and higher class, completely disregarding the welfare of the workers and peasants who
powered the nation. Poor management in rural areas and heavy tax resulted ... Show more content on

During Mao s time, this right was almost none existent as many different types of propaganda
circulated mainstream media as shown in Source 8, a poster with the caption chairman Mao gives us
happy lives . This implies that a family cannot be happy without the chairman and how could they
possibly have been happy from before their time. The photograph shows a happy nuclear family but
the main point is the large portrait of Mao himself which is the size of the mother s torso. This is also
further depicted in source 12 which states in 1984, the Chinese government instructed publishers not
to produce any more works on the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution was the largest
blunder a political party could make as it paralyzed China politically and significantly affected the
country economically and also resulted in the death of millions, because Mao had forced uneducated
farmers to produce steel and there was little to no focus on agriculture. This shows the CPC in a harsh
light. It has all but been removed from the memories of those who were there in person. This removes
the people s right to be able to have access to any information. And in 2006, Chinese schools would
not focus on the negative aspects of the country s past . This illustrates no change in thirty

Brisbane deals with history, childhood and growing up. Matthew Condon s Brisbane is obsessed
with time and timelessness, it uses childhood experiences (both his and his sons) to attempt to connect
the past to the present. Condon continuously refers to himself feeling events and people of the past;
people often refer to this book as being nostalgic but Condon s writing seem to suggest more than that.

The Blind Side Vs Night Analysis
One of they ways The Blind Side and Night are similar is that they share a common theme. The theme
is people make it threw obsetcles more easily when other people help them with it. One main
excample of this in both of the storys is that both of the characters face major obstcles throught the
story. An excample in The Blind Side, if that the main character Micheal Oher has to face a diffulect
situtation when he is a black kid and he has to go to a all white school.
Another excample from the book night is when Elie and all of the jews get everything taken away
from them when the holocaust starts. Some text evdience from the book is the same day, the hungarian

of black memphis into rich white memphis... ( lewis 334). It says he moved from poor to rich because
he got adopted by a rich white family and he wa poor before he got adopted by them. My excample
from the book Night is that it takes places in 1941 1945 in Germany and Translyvania, and in
concentration camps. Evdience to prve that this is true is, The jews of Sighet the little town in
Translyvana where i spent my childhood. (Wiesal 34). It says he grew up in Translyvania. Which he
still lived during the start of the holocaust. Another main point is that the characters are different in the
story. In The Blind Side it says Micheal Oher is a Black student that is big and he is older then Elie. To
support that, He s the biggest player anyone ever seen. (Lewis 131). When Micheal walked into the all
white school everyone looked at him differently even the teacher. The teacher described him as big
and black. In the book Night Elie is different from MIcheal. In the book Night it said that Elie was 15
years old which is younger then Micheal. I also came to a conclusion that Elie in not as big as Micheal
and that he is white. Evdience to support that is No your eighteen, but im not. Im fifteen. (Wiesal 30).

Compared to the geogenic background value of areas underlain by acidic igneous bedrock, which
contain high concentrations of F bearing minerals, such as biotite or apatite (Reimann and Caritat
1998), the F concentrations of the drinking water in the CDR area near Kaduna are significantly
lower. As the water samples were taken from surface sources and shallow, hand dug wells, where the
main F source are the highly weathered parent rocks, the low F concentrations were expectable.
However, since surface water and the shallow hand dug wells are the main drinking water sources of
the local population, we assumed the overall F consumption via the rock water pathway to be low as
well.
In contrast, F concentrations in drinking water in basalt areas around Lake Magadi in Kenya, where
dental fluorosis is endemic, are greater than 1.7 mg L 1 (Jones, Eugster, and Reitig 1977). In the
Obuasi area and the Bolgatanga area of Ghana, where the local population suffers from dental
fluorosis, the F concentrations are typically greater than 3.0 mg L 1 due to high contents of F bearing
minerals in the granitoid basement rocks (Smedley et al. 1995). According to Dissanyake and

With the passing of the airline deregulation act of 1978, airline carriers were now provided with new

This flexibility allowed the carrier to now grow into new markets. Also, deregulation now brought

from the original documents to use in the book. The words and sentences in quotations in Unredeemed

Demos argues numerous different standpoints throughout his book. The reader can easily see and

what he knows best, although Deerfield was never the same after the Mohawk raid. He went back to

IVF Biological issues and the future of IVF In vitro fertilisation (IVF) literally means fertilisation in
glass . That s where the familiar term test tube baby came from. During the IVF process, eggs are
removed from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in the laboratory. The eggs and sperm are brought
together in a laboratory glass dish to allow the sperm to fertilize an egg, the fertilised egg, or embryo,
is later placed in the woman s womb. Benefits of IVF In Vitro Fertilisation helps many couples who
struggle with infertility and otherwise unable to conceive. The biggest advantage of IVF is to
successfully go through a pregnancy only to be pregnant to a healthy baby. IVF allows this to become
reality for people who can t have the privilege to have babies maybe because of:
Blocked tubes: For women with blocked or damaged fallopian tubes prevents them from having
babies, so IVF provides the best opportunity of having a child using their own eggs.
Male infertility: Couples with a male infertility problem will have a much higher chance of conceiving
with IVF than conceiving naturally. We have a number of laboratory techniques to facilitate this.
Unexplained infertility: 1 in 6 couples will suffer fertility problems and sometimes these remain
undiagnosed after investigation.

Reasons For Gun Control
Gun control is one of the most important issues debated worldwide, but most importantly in the
United States. According to the Second Amendment in the Constitution, the citizens have the right to
bear arms, yet this has become an issue that has remained debatable for decades in congress meetings.
A recent event that dealt with gun control regulation is the Sandy Hook Shooting where the tragic
massacre in Newton, Conn. killed twenty children and eight adults including himself. I argue this
event, because it gave me prove for the need for more gun control.
I m for gun control, and the main reason weapon control should be in existence is, because on account

In addition, it is dangerous for just anyone to have a gun, it is moreover loaded with risk for everyone
(arranged or not) to walk around, equipped, at all conditions. There have been serious incidents where
firearms were unexpectedly terminated, yet at the same time brought on a major issue when they did.
In a current review they have found that, instead of being utilized for self protection, firearms in the
house are 22 times more prone to be required in incidental shootings, manslaughters, or suicide
endeavors. The best claim that people who are unfriendly to gun control have is that it is taking
without end their rights to remain fight prepared as a part of the second change. (against gun control.)
A mistake that was made when the Second Amendment was made is that they gave people the right to
buy a gun without a single background check.
Taking everything into account, weapon control is vital for an ensured put for all. Without firearm

disabling hearing loss (1), and 32 million of these are children. (Deafness and hearing loss Fact sheet,
February 2017). Since having a hearing disability is common in society, everyone should learn how to
communicate, and interact with the deaf people through their culture. So, what exactly is deaf culture?
Deaf culture differs from hearing culture by having different language, social beliefs, art, education,
and technology. Having a culture that caters to the deaf allows people to not focus on the incapability
to hear. Instead this lets deaf individuals to be themselves without judgement. Also, making their daily
tasks easier in a hearing world.
What is the sense of Hearing? Technically research says: Hearing depends on a series of complex
steps that change sound waves in the air into electrical signals. Our auditory nerve then carries these
signals to the brain . (How Do We Hear? July 2015). Hearing allows people to live without
boundaries. To respect and appreciate the real nature of deafness, first one must appreciate their
current state of hearing. Every day, people hear different simple sounds of birds chirping, traffic,
voices of others, the radio

Advantages Of Unit Linked Insurance Plans
Chapter V
Summary of Finding and Conclusion
5.1 Introduction
A unit linked insurance plan is a multi featured product which combines the benefits of insurance, risk
sharing and investment. The investment in a unit linked insurance plan works like a mutual fund and
does not come with guaranteed returns, unlike money back, whole life or endowment policies. Hence
a unit linked insurance plan combines the features of investment and life protection. It enables the life
insured to secure protection for their family in the event of untimely death and simultaneously
provides the life insured, an opportunity to earn a return on the premium paid towards the policy. One
of the biggest benefits of unit linked plans is that they provide the means for individual ... Show more

Adult Inmate Management System
Background:
After discussions with Greg Denning, Chuck Manning, Elizabeth Charif and Diana Harrison my
concern is the Programs Module 07 portion of the AIMS2 s portal is not built correctly, it appears that
business requirements were not followed during development, and Dev did not update the business
analyst on the enhancements being made to AISM2 Module 07, resulting in disconnects for the user.
The Adult Inmate Management System is not my area of expertise, nor is the work of business analyst,
however, I am eager to learn what is necessary to perform the work being asked of me. Timeline:
Starting in late March, I began my review of the FSD and writing (copy and paste) scripts into the

Steph Summary Request
1. Programs Module 07 is complex, therefore, we need an updated FSD to reflect the business
requirements and the developed screens.
2. Revise development of AIMS2 screens to match updated FSD.
3. Developers need to log changes and follow a change control process with BA to match both AIMS2
and FSD.
4. Have a Business Analyst QA the revised portal to ensure the business requirements are correctly
mapped.
5. BA to provide screenshots of the QA test data used to validate Programs Module are ready to push
to UAT:
a. Lookup parameters
b. Action queue templates
c. Administrative tables and roles Risk
By not having the FSD updated to clearly reflect the business requirements and Dev screens properly
connect in AIMS2 our product will not perform correctly, therefore, impacting other modules; Work
Level, DI57, Movement Holds are just a few that I know of. I m not an expert in Adult Inmate

Persuasive Essay On Dress Code
Dress code is one of the most talked about topics amongst parents of children in school and teens.
Some schools have a reasonable dress code but others are just out of line. Kids all around the world
are being sent home and suspended because of the way they dress. Education is so much more
important than the way someone is dressed so it does not make sense for teachers and staff members
to cut into a kid s education just because they are not dressed to some people s satisfaction. Although
dress code is something all schools should have, some schools take it out of hand. For example, in
Sicklerville, New Jersey, an eight year old little girl was not only sent home from school but was
suspended for a day fFor being out of dress code. Yyou would think that she would have been wearing
a shirt with a curse word on it or be in her bathing suit because of how harsh her punishment was, but
no. Tthis little child was sent home because she was wearing thea wrong shade of green. Some of her
teachers felt that her shirt was not dark enough so they cut into her education and embarrassed her all
because of a plain, collared, light green shirt.
In a like manner, an senior at Westside High School in Dayton, Idaho, wore a dress that hit mid thigh
on her last day of school. Her school not only dress coded her but they threatened to take her diploma.
They would rather mess up a girl s education and future over something like the dress she s wearing.
They would rather embarrass her and cause

The Importance Of Media In The Media
Media is everywhere around the world, it surrounds us even when sometimes we don t even notice it.
It can appear from newspapers to news, or as well physically and throughout electronic devices such
as cell phones. We consider it as a tool to make time fly ahead or to spectate what is going on with
other people s lives. However, we may encounter certain factors that may not appeal to us. We may
see postings or news about tragic events that happen around the world and surprisingly, sometimes we
don t even bother to care, due to the fact that it wasn t us in that situation. There are a great number of

An example that can relate to this song is when 9/11 happened, due to terrorists. An unexpected tragic
event that no one thought would happen that took many lives from loved ones to close ones. In
addition, Billie Joe Armstrong s pathos has an outstanding true meaning based from the lyrics, A new
day dawning, comes without warning... . One can interpret based on this factor that every day is a new
opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that Billie Joe Armstrong is
trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though we live happy at times, there is always
something dark waiting to approach at any time with unpredictable outcome. A second example based
on this observation can be the terror attack that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred
in a London train underground that injured 30 passengers on board. And furthermore, a second man
was arrested a couple days later due to the fact that he too was also affiliated with the incident as well
according to officers. In addition to the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and
how it s impossible for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s
exclusive? , as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the world to resolve
from this. Many people have experienced moments when others are made fun of or times when people
fight for various reasons such as an argument.

who lived during WWII and experienced similar treatment than that of a Jew while in Germany under

The Significance Of Character Names In The Lottery By...
In a short story that was written by Shirley Jackson, The Lottery, is a short literature that discussed an
annual lottery draw that took place in a small New England town. In the literature, Jackson presented
the event that took place in the small town very summer time of the year, in which one random
villager get chosen and to be stoned to death by the people in the village. As Jackson stated in her
short literature, the lottery has been practiced in the small village for over seventy years by its town
people (Citation). In this research paper, the project will present the symbolism that Jackson indicated
in the story, the usage of each character s name, objects, the literature location setting and the intention
of the lottery, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example, the citizens of the town who participates in an annual lottery drawing each year got
no consequences from participating in it. For instance, the irony of Tessie Hutchinson life when in the
beginning of the story, she presents herself with a nonchalant attitude toward the result from the
lottery. However, Tessie Hutchinson becomes dismayed and distraught when she realizes that she will
the one who sacrificed herself. Her final words in the story are the evidence of her own hypocrites, not
just for her nonchalant attitude, but also for her willingness to sacrifice her own daughter life
(Yarmove, 1994). Secondly, the objects that are presented in Jackson literature not only represent the
symbolized meaning to the annual lottery but also the religious perspective to the event. Jackson
stated in the literature, the children in the small town have already started collecting rocks before the
lottery took place. Each of these children picked the smoothest and roundest rocks; the reason behind
this rock picking is because the jagged and knife like rocks would likely kill the lottery winner faster
than the smooth one. Also, the smooth rocks would grant the lottery winner a slower and painful death
during the murderous event, and that the children of the village would easily follow their elderly
footsteps. Another object that presented in the literature is the black box that the old man Warner and
his assistant, Mr. Graves drew the lottery from.

A Literary Analysis For The Landlady By Roald Dahl
Paragraph of Analysis for The Landlady by Roald Dahl The theme of The Landlady by Roald Dahl is
that things aren t always as they seem. When Billy was on his way to a hotel, he found a bed and

fantastically cheap. It was less than half of what he had been willing to pay (Dahl 75). Billy thought
that a bed and breakfast would cost much more than five and six pence a night, so he was dazzled at
the cheap price that it was. He decided that since the price was so sincerely cheap, he would happily

How to Buy Stylish Beach Dresses
Going to the beach requires a special kind of attire. Although wearing a bathing suit makes sense,
some people prefer to cover up at least part of the time. This is where cute and stylish beach dresses
come into play. They feature lightweight materials, short lengths, and attractive designs, and they keep
the body covered just enough to make women feel comfortable without needlessly weighing them
down in yards of material.
Beach Kaftans
The kaftan is the epitome of feminine beauty. The style originated in Pakistan, Persia, and other
Middle Eastern countries. The original kaftan dresses were full length with yards of flowing,
lightweight fabric. Beach kaftans, however, are much shorter and have less fabric. Some are even see
through, which is perfectly suitable when worn over a bathing suit. Some beach dresses have large
pockets that blend into the sides, and most beach kaftans have sleeves that reach the elbows and
billow out. They come in all sorts of vibrant colours and patterns for the summer.

multiple cameras in a single scene. For example, in the case of a search amp; rescue, there could be
multiple camera men looking for victims. In this case, the command center can keep track of
individuals inside by seeing the same image in the telemetry system as the firefighter sees in his

there are situations where the transmitted information should only be received by the intended party

zoom control can be placed on the end of a ladder. At the bottom of the ladder, the firefighter will then
be able to see where the water from the hose is being sprayed and be able to control the water stream.

was quite upset about it and in fact felt that I was to be partly blamed for this fiasco as I did not work

After the end of second cycle, however, when we delivered the revised theme to the product manager,

only three states administer the death penalty these days. Capital punishment has worked for a few
years to scare those who desire to commit a federal crime, but because the usage continually

Even Pope John Paul II believes that capital punishment must be eradicated from societies, as he

Analysis of My Last Duchess Essay
My Last Duchess is a poem written by Robert Browning in 1845. It s a first person narrative of a duke
who is showing the ambassador around his palace and negotiating his marriage to the daughter of
another powerful family. As they are walking through the palace, the duke stops and looks at the
beautiful portrait of his lovely last duchess.
The duke speaks his thoughts about the girl, and as the poem progresses we begin to realize that his
last duchess had been murdered. ...I gave commands, then all smiles stopped together, This
metaphorical sentence tells us that his commands were the ones that caused her death and her stop of
all smiles together . The reason behind this is that she was flirtatious with all men because she ... Show

My favour at her breast, the dropping of the daylight in the West . Here the Duke tells us that he
believed he had a seat at her heart. However her passion for him was diminishing as quickly as a day s
sunset in the West. The daylight is such a beautiful thing, but her love for him was like the dropping of
daylight meaning that he was losing such a beauty and he regretted.
This metaphor used is a tragic metaphor.
The rhetorical question used on line 23 reflects his anger. A heart how shall I say? too soon made
glad... this quote explains that she was pleased by all men, and the Duke was struggling to find a way
to express himself successfully. This is because he was so bothered by the fact that he didn t satisfy
her enough since she needed the satisfaction from other men. His frustration also reflects that there is
an element of jealousy within him. Oh sir, she smiled... The poet makes use of a sibilant, which is an
irritating sound to hear. This emphasizes his anger and frustration. He never refers to her by name,
which reflects his disturbed character.
After all of the Duke s anger builds up, we learn that he lets out all of his frustration in a very negative
and disturbed manner. This grew; I gave commands; Then all smiles stopped together. There she
stands as if alive. The deliberate ambiguity used in this sentence hints to the audience that he has
murdered her.
The poem is one

Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald deals on one level with Jay Gatsby s hopes and dreams, but
on a deeper level also deals with the Great American Dream. The novel starts and ends with a
reference to the green light at the end of the dock, indicating an important symbolism. The first time
Nick catches sight of Jay Gatsby, Gatsby stretched his arms towards the dark water [...] [Nick]
distinguished nothing except a single green light [...] that might have been at the end of a dock.
(Fitzgerald 2000:25). Fitzgerald ends the novel by again referring to the green light at the end of Daisy
s dock. (171).
The protagonist of the novel is Jay Gatsby, a wealthy young man from the Midwest, who has moved
to the New York in the East to pursue his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The green light at the end of Daisy s dock also symbolises the inability to control time, the
irretrievability of the past and the futility of trying to recreate the past, despite Gatsby s belief to the
contrary. When Nick asserts that one can t repeat the past, he exclaims: Can t repeat the past? [...] Why
of course you can! (106). Gatsby naively believes that Daisy can erase the past by simply telling Tom
that she never loved him. He tells Nick that [he s] going to fix everything the way it was before (106)
and that he and Daisy would be married from her house just as if it were five years ago. (106).
The similarity between Gatsby s dream and the Great American dream is a central theme of the novel.
People pursue their dreams, regardless of the cost to themselves and others, with little regard for the
attainability and reality of the dream. In Gatsby s case, his dream eventually costs him his life.
Similarly, the singleminded pursuit of wealth and pleasure eventually costs people their lives, if not in
the literal sense, then in the moral sense.

Hetch-Hetchy Valley was first discovered in 1871 by John...
Hetch Hetchy Valley was first discovered in 1871 by John Muir. Muir referred to this valley to
Yosemite Valley because of its glamorous views. The name of this valley is derived from Miwok word
hatchhatchie, meaning edible grass (tchistory). Hetchy Hetch was used shortly after as a reservoir and
water system for the Bay Area. Hetch Hetchy Valley is located in the Yosemite National Park of
California. Water from Hetch Hetchy was delivered through the damming of the Tuolumne River at
around 3,800 feet elevation; it travels through complex tunnels through the Sierra Nevada. The Hetch
Hetchy Valley presents two of the tallest waterfalls in North America. This valley is also a place where
visitors can witness the beautiful wildlife and water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even then, the proposal was rejected for a few years. At the time, San Francisco received water
support from Lake Eleanor, but both the lake and the valley was demanded. There was much criticism
to set up this dam by many conservatives and Muir himself. The proposal finally passed in 1913 even
after much opposition from all over the country. This Hetch Hetchy project began and the O
Shaughnessy Dam was built. The construction of this dam cost $100 million and 68 lives. This dam
streamed water over 160 miles to reach the Bay Area. This project was further improved in 1928 when
San Francisco voters approved of the $24 million payment, which was completed in 1934. San
Francisco voters decided to give the Hetch Hetchy project another improvement in 1947; $25 million
was invested for a second pipeline from the reservoir. In 1961, over $100 million in bonds was used to
develop and expand the project. In 1970, the Sierra Club wanted the restoration of the valley and the
removing of reservoirs from both Eleanor Dam and O Shaughnessy Dam. This idea and proposal was
rejected in 1988 with the reason that it would cost too much funding to return Hetch Hetchy to its
original form and would bring about the water problem in the Bay Area. The movement to recover the
valley was firm as Restore Hetch Hetchy, a non profit organization with Sierra Club members and
other environmental organizations, was pushing studies to find an alternative and ways to

The Tungurahua Volcano
Introduction As our world grows and the population grows, more and more people find themselves
living in disaster prone areas. The vulnerability of these peoples is often due to their lack of
knowledge about the potential risks in the area. As these settlements become larger, the more
imbedded into the surrounding area it becomes. In this paper we will look at the communities that
surround the Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador. Specifically, evaluating how the emergency
management system operates and functions to provide support to these vulnerable communities.
Volcanic eruptions typically cause an immediate chaotic response and a sound emergency
management system is critical during this type of disaster. In the case of the Tungurahua volcano it has
been active for many years, sometimes only producing minor pyroclastic flows, but is has been known
to erupt violently. This presents a unique environment, in which, the emergency services and
surrounding communities have become accustom to. A unique aspect of communities that live in the
shadow of the Tungurahua volcano is the resilience they have to thrive under impending disaster. Most
of these communities have adapted well to the risks posed by the volcano. To get a better
understanding of why the people in this region of Ecuador have not moved on, we must review its
history. This will be the first area of research for this paper followed by the evaluation of emergency
services to the surrounding communities. A critical

Alchemy Accomplishments
Alchemy was a turning point in the field of science during the Middle Ages, and paved the way for
many of the greatest scientists in history, including Albert Einstein. Contrary to popular belief,
alchemy is not just about science, but also about humans spiritually and mentally. Alchemy may have
been lost over the course of many centuries, but it is still very much alive in our society today, through
our relationships with other people and within ourselves. Robert of Chester s translations of Arabic
alchemical books allowed for the spread of alchemy throughout Europe beginning in 1200. Europe s
own alchemists were created during this time, such as Roger Bacon. He spread the formulas to create
gunpowder and powerful tinctures and elixirs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In mental alchemy, the goal was to perfect one s own personality and character. This greatly contrasts
from spiritual alchemy, which works to cultivate and perfect one s soul. Mental alchemy had lots of
parallels with physical alchemy. Take the Four elements, for example. In people, they can represent
positive virtues and characteristics, but can also symbolize negative traits. Fire can represent courage
and enthusiasm, but also anger and jealousy. Water can represent love and creativity, and instability.
Earth can represent patience and strength, but also laziness and boredom. Lastly, Air can represent
diligence and optimism, but also frivolity and boasting. These Four Elements were common to all
people. Spiritual alchemy was completely different from Mental alchemy. Alchemical meditation is an
example of some of the practices within Spiritual alchemy. In alchemical meditation, there are three
goals which alchemists aim to achieve; Lunar, Solar, and Stellar. Lunar meditations work on the
physical level, Solar works on the psychological and mental level, and Stellar works on the divine and
cosmic level. Once all meditations have been completed, the mind and body are in a complete
harmony and A higher presence ... fills the void created by this death of our worldly connections.

Examples Of Diction In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography about his experience during the Holocaust when he was
fifteen years old. Elie is fifteen when the tragedy begins. He is taken with his family through many
trials and then is separated from everyone besides his father. They are left with only each other, of
which they are able to confide in and look to for support. The story is told through a series of creative
writing practices. Mr. Wiesel uses strong diction, and syntax as well as a combination of stylistic
devices. This autobiography allows the readers to understand a personal, first hand account of the
terrible events of the holocaust. The ways that diction is used in Night helps with this understanding.
Elie Wiesel uses words that are relevant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Never shall I forget that smoke.
Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a

Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith forever.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams into
ashes.Never shall I forget these things, even were I condemned to live as long as God himself.
Never. (page 34)
Elie Wiesel has experienced a horrible tragedy. When he repeatedly says over and over Never shall I
forget... he emphasizes his fear of what he has seen. He drills into the reader how traumatized he is.
This creates sympathy and makes the reader feel worse for Mr. Wiesel. Dramatic irony gives the
reader an advantage over the characters. This form of irony is where the reader knows something that
the characters do not. (Poor father! Of what then did you die?) (page 11) During this scene in the book
Elie s father has given the news to the other Jews that they are all required to wear the yellow star. His
father said The yellow star? So what? It s not lethal... (page 11) This is ironic because the star is what
killed nearly all of the Jewish people. Hate killed a countless number of innocent people because of
their beliefs. This is the dramatic Irony. Everything that Elie Wiesel uses to create his autobiography
makes it more that just a page taught

American Literature 11

A quote from Anatole Broyard, It is one of the paradoxes of American Literature that our writers are
forever looking back with love and nostalgia at the lives they couldn t wait to leave. People reminisce
of some of the worst moments in American history with a dampening eye, glossing over all the grit.
Out of the populus, the ones who actively present Broyard s quote as fact are content creators. This
trope appears many times in Literature and even other forms of entertainment such as movies,
television shows, and certain video games. Three examples of Broyard s statement show up in the

these men and their time with lightheartedness, like a quick glimpse of a photo, not really thinking
about them or the period itself.
Jumping to the year 1937 at the end of the Great Depression, we witness the tale of a single mother,
Amanda her son, Tom, and daughter, Laura. A mother who s trying to push her daughter into marriage
and shoving her son to work while also trying to relive her glory days, a rinse repeat story in those
days. You were either male and slaved in factories for pay like Tom or female and raised to be a

isolates herself because of her shyness and bad leg, and their mother is woman looking for wealth
whether her or her daughter acquires it. Amanda sends her son out to find a man for Laura and he
brings back Jim O Connor. Lo and behold, Jim apparently had been Laura s high school crush. A
dinner ensues with the family, ending with an awkward exchange between Jim and Laura where they
kiss and it is revealed that Jim has a fiancée. Jim leaves and Amada blames Tom, who eventually loses
his job and skips town on them. Another great time period where life for most wasn t well. Yet authors

  • 2. Marilyn Monroe In The Asphalt Jungle If I m a star, then the people made me a star. ~Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was a very unique and well known person to a lot of people. She has a generous heart and strong independence. You know, most people don t really know me. ~Marilyn Monroe. This quote is true for many people. We think we know who she is, but once you start asking questions you find things you never thought would be true. Never judge a book by it s cover, My dinners at home are startlingly simple. Every night, I stop at the market near my hotel and pick up some steak, lamb chops or some liver, which I boil in the electric oven in my room. I usually eat four or five carrots with my meat, and that is all. I must be part rabbit; I never get tired of carrots. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She worked with the World Adoption International Fund to help more than 50,000 abandoned kids get adopted. The one thing that is remarkable is perfectly said by Andrew Mersmann This one is well known: Marilyn visited an orphanage in Mexico and wrote a check for $1000 while the press was there and after they left she tore it up and wrote a new one for $10,000. (Mersmann). These are just a few of the amazing things Marilyn did over her lifetime and she used her talent too help others too. • 3. Mobile Adhoc Network ( Manet ) Essay Abstract: Mobile AdHoc Network (MANET) is a wireless network with a set of mobile nodes that can communicate with each other with no access point and without any fixed infrastructure. But mobile devices usually have limited resources (battery power, memory, CPU) which limit their transmission range. Hence, in order to conserve the limited resource, it is highly desirable that transmission should be as efficient as possible. MANET can be implemented in any environment because of its dynamic nature. For routing of information packets queuing is done at the buffer and transferred through intermediate nodes to the destination on priority basis which help to improve the overall network performance. This paper provides a review of various buffer management schemes for packet queues in MANET. Index Terms: MANET, Buffer, Packet Queue. INTRODUCTION Mobile ad hoc network is dynamic network topology without any central network for control. All the nodes in the network participate in networking functions like routing and packet forwarding as per the requirement. Nodes which are in direct contact with each other communicate with single hop and those which are not in range takes multiple hops through intermediate nodes to reach destination Fig 1: Mobile Ad Hoc Network Fig.1 shows that source and destination nodes are not in range so packets are routed through intermediate nodes. Even though MANET networks provides many advantages like scalability, flexibility, robustness, self ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, the use and implementation of the SWOT analysis will be incorporated throughout the discussion. Information will be provided from the case study and the use of secondary resources for support of the marketing strategies recommended for the Hilton Hotels. Although the cost of entertainment is a significant expense for hotels, the cost of providing entertainment is justified by its effectiveness in attracting people to the gaming tables and machines (McDonald, 1998, p. 4). The market is also demonstrating a trend of hotels becoming a one stop shop. For example, hotels are not only including room stay but also gaming, entertainment, shopping, comedy clubs, lounges, nail and hair salons and other activities and amenities desired by consumers. This trend is demonstrating the evolution of hotels into destination resorts. Market Growth The market has demonstrated an increase in growth over the last decade. Sales for Hilton have also demonstrated a steady increase, particularly once the hotels expanded to include gaming and entertainment. Competition for the gaming dollar is intense, and the degree of investment needed to be successful is high. Hilton has had to put more than $6 million into renovating the Las Vegas Hilton to keep up with such rivals as the Mirage and the Excalibur (McDonald, 1998, p. 3). In addition, the hotel market has demonstrated a consistently high occupancy rate, particularly the Hilton hotels. In 1994, Hilton hotels showed system wide occupancy of 70 percent, a three point increase over 1993, while the U.S. hotel industry as a whole had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This would prove to be a beautifully planned opportunity for the young restaurateur in that the idea and marketing approach was unique. This concept has outlived other competitors as well as proved to be worthy of expansion. The concept has not changed in the forty years of the business. However there are certain opportunities that have displayed themselves to Rocky. This has proved to be difficult for the management to adapt to. It is strictly recommended to change the name of these restaurants and associate only by affiliation. Monitoring of this can be conducted in the same way as the marketing research provided in the case. A question that should be addressed is whether or not the attitudes/perceptions of clientele would change after knowing that Benihana also had a fast food change. Immediate disengagement from the fast food chain is recommended if either the fast food chain or Benihana s experience profit loss. Expansion in to the production line type environment is strictly discouraged. It has been shown that the Benihana model works with the combination of food quality, service and atmosphere. The hurdle from this concept to being known only for the food quality is too costly and may prove to be unsuccessful in the future. At the same time, the name would have to display the Benihana name to promote that quality. If this concept were to fail, this could later have a damaging effect upon the Benihana name itself. Therefore, it is recommended that the product line concept be discarded. Modifications within the Benihana model could also prove to be very costly. The side effects could prove disastrous to the name as well as take away from the three pointed model. By changing the interior or the service team, Rocky would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He believes that the common man can experience tragedy. The character who experiences the tragedy, challenges authority; regardless if they are the common man, or a person with power. Secondly, tragedy can be found anywhere. Even though men believe that in modern age heroes and tragedies do not occur, there is always a possibility that the common man is able to face the worst of tragedies. Before Mao and his Chinese revolution to the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949, China s leading party was the Chinese Nationalist Party (also known as KMT). In 1912, Yuan Shikai became president of the KMT and soon began to ignore the parliament and make his own decisions. This, inadvertently, started the degradation of the KMT and the result was widespread corruption. This implies that a family cannot be happy without the chairman and how could they possibly have been happy from before their time. The photograph shows a happy nuclear family but the main point is the large portrait of Mao himself which is the size of the mother s torso. This is also further depicted in source 12 which states in 1984, the Chinese government instructed publishers not to produce any more works on the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution was the largest blunder a political party could make as it paralyzed China politically and significantly affected the country economically and also resulted in the death of millions, because Mao had forced uneducated farmers to produce steel and there was little to no focus on agriculture. This shows the CPC in a harsh light. It has all but been removed from the memories of those who were there in person. This removes the people s right to be able to have access to any information. Matthew Condon s Brisbane is obsessed with time and timelessness, it uses childhood experiences (both his and his sons) to attempt to connect the past to the present. Compared to the geogenic background value of areas underlain by acidic igneous bedrock, which contain high concentrations of F bearing minerals, such as biotite or apatite (Reimann and Caritat 1998), the F concentrations of the drinking water in the CDR area near Kaduna are significantly lower. As the water samples were taken from surface sources and shallow, hand dug wells, where the main F source are the highly weathered parent rocks, the low F concentrations were expectable. However, since surface water and the shallow hand dug wells are the main drinking water sources of the local population, we assumed the overall F consumption via the rock water pathway to be low as well. In contrast, F concentrations in drinking water in basalt areas around Lake Magadi in Kenya, where dental fluorosis is endemic, are greater than 1.7 mg L 1 (Jones, Eugster, and Reitig 1977). In the Obuasi area and the Bolgatanga area of Ghana, where the local population suffers from dental fluorosis, the F concentrations are typically greater than 3.0 mg L 1 due to high contents of F bearing minerals in the granitoid basement rocks (Smedley et al. 1995). The rhetorical question used on line 23 reflects his anger. Gatsby naively believes that Daisy can erase the past by simply telling Tom that she never loved him. He tells Nick that [he s] going to fix everything the way it was before (106) and that he and Daisy would be married from her house just as if it were five years ago. (106). The similarity between Gatsby s dream and the Great American dream is a central theme of the novel. People pursue their dreams, regardless of the cost to themselves and others, with little regard for the attainability and reality of the dream.
