Chronic Confusion Is Defined As The Progressive...
Chronic Confusion
Shelby Stubbs
Saginaw Valley State University
Abstract
Chronic confusion is defined as the progressive deterioration of intellect, memory loss, and behavioral
change. This disease has a rapid onset and the symptoms dominate the body and mind in a very
progressive manner. This paper examines the comfort theory as one way to aid in the unmet needs of a
chronically confused patient, and by forming relationships between a patients needs, with nursing
interventions, the well being of the individual will improve. This paper also goes into detail about the
need driven dementia compromised behavior model, which examines the aggressive behavior of
chronically confused patients and how to understand their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) classifies chronic confusion is an
irreversible, long standing and or progressive deterioration of intellect and personality characterized
by decreased ability to interpret environmental stimuli, decreased capacity for intellectual thought
processes, and disturbances of memory, orientation and behavior (Moorhead, Johnson, Swanson,
2013). The subjective characteristics would be impaired memory, and objective characteristics would
be altered interpretation, altered personality, organic impairment evidence, impaired socialization
(Moorhead, Johnson, Swanson, 2013). According to Selby, (2006) chronic confusion is having a rapid
onset with multiple factors such as personality change, poor memory, and poor self care that
dominates the mind and body. Making those suffering from confusion extremely vulnerable and prone
to develop acute confusion as well. Signs of confusion are inability to retrieve memories, loss of
ability to interpret sensory information, with disturbances in sleep patterns, cognition, and
disorientation (Selby, 2006). From the perspective of Occupational Therapy, (Trace, and Howell,
1991) emphasize the preservation of autonomy, integrity, and personal safety, when completing daily
activities .to better improve a patient s impaired progression.. A Psychological approach described by
(Williams, Tibbit, and Donahue, 2008) defines chronic confusion

Reflection On Clinical Surgery
On October 16th, 2017, I was able to observe a surgery during my clinical session. Surgery is defined
as the art and science of treating diseases, injuries and deformities by operation and instrumentation.
(Lewis, 2017) The reason for surgery can include: diagnosis, or determining the presence and extent
of a pathologic condition, cure, or eliminating and/or repairing of a pathologic condition, palliation, or
alleviation of symptoms that does not cure, prevention, or removing something from the body before it
becomes cancer, and exploration, surgical examination to determine the nature or extent of a disease.
(Lewis, 2017) My observation day started in the preoperative unit of the hospital where I met with the
pre op nurse. During this time I was able to introduce myself to the patient and had her consent to
allow me observe her surgery. My patient was a 39Y female who was to undergo a robotic assist
hysterectomy. Her past medical history includes constant, abnormal vaginal bleeding, polyps and
severe cramping. These are the factors that contributed to her having the hysterectomy. My patient
also noted that this is the last resort in her treatment for her symptoms. In this case, my patient was
undergoing palliative surgery, or having surgery to alleviate symptoms without curing a specific
disease. Her past medical history also includes gastroesophageal reflux disease, bilateral

Center for Literacy
1.1 Overview
Literacy is important in our everyday lives. According to the Center for Literacy in the United States
of America, Literacy is a complex set of abilities needed to understand and use symbols and systems
of a culture alphabets, numbers, and visual icons for personal and community development . The
nature of these abilities, and the demand for them, vary from one context to another. These skills are
clearly being found necessary in our everyday lives (Center For Literacy, 2012). Several years ago,
being literate meant being able to read and write a little. Now, being literate means being able to read
and write at a level to be successful in today s world and also being proficient at math, knowing how
to use technology, and knowing how to solve problems and make decisions. The power of literacy lies
not only in the ability to read and write but rather the individual s capacity to put those skills in
shaping the course of his or her life. Literacy is required for daily activities such as reading the post,
filling in a job application, and helping children with their homework.
In many countries, illiteracy is a national problem. According to the National Adult Literacy Survey
(Literacy Mid South) approximately 44 million people in the United States cannot read well enough to
fill out an application, read a food label, or read a simple story to a child (Literacy Mid South).
According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the literacy rate in Ghana currently

Frankenstein Cruelty Analysis
Everyday, we hear stories of theft, abuse, and murder. Instantly, we judge the perpetrators. However,
why do some people commit these crimes? What causes them to take this path? Are they just
inherently bad, or are their actions influenced from external factors around them? Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein explores this interesting notion of tabula rasa the idea that babies are born with a blank
slate, suggesting that humans are not just pre packaged with certain behaviours or prejudices. Rather,
it is learned. People are born pure and compelled to do evil at the feet of exclusion, isolation or abuse,
just like Frankenstein and/or the monster . In this sense, acts of cruelty in Frankenstein show that
every one of us is capable of taking this heinous route of personal and projected destruction with the
absence of companionship. However, there are always intrinsic motivations or characteristics revealed
about the perpetrator/victim during these violent events. Thus, with further inspection of both
Frankenstein and his creation s acts of cruelty, the reader is exposed to their insecurities, perspective
on women, and dire vengefulness. Violent and cruel acts are usually done to display power or
dominance. Yet, in Frankenstein, they can be counterproductive and reveal insecurities or buried fears
instead. The earliest example of cruelty is when Frankenstein essentially abandons his child right after
creating it: ...I beheld the wretch ― the miserable monster whom I had

Taking a Look at Local Produce
My topic is local produce. I chose this topic because I am really interested in the different types of
food people consume and how it affects their health.
The big question I will be answering is whether or not to buy local or non local foods. I will go over
which is safer for the economy, the environment, and people. After I research this, I will then find
which one is better to buy. This is a question that each person should ponder before deciding which
type of food to buy. My hypothesis is that eating locally will be better and safer for everyone.
Do you often find that the foods in your fridge are nonlocal?
There are many negative things to contemplate when deciding what type of foods to buy. Issues upon
this topic include foodborne illnesses, also known as food poisoning, incorrect processing and
handling and preparation of meats, and bacteria. Many multi state waves in which have infected many
hundreds of people have lately been traced back to specific farms, food processors, and specific food
handlers. (As stated by sustainabletable.org)
Some major issues with buying non local foods that have an effect of the earth are pesticides and
steroids. They can be put into these foods and can seriously harm the consumer.
Pesticides are made to kill pests to the plant, but they often hurt humans instead. By buying local food,
your chances of eating foods that contain pesticides become less likely. When foods are grown locally,
they are generally in season because they do not

Video Games And Its Effects On Female Characters
Throughout the world women are depicted to be oversexualized among forms of media such as video
games and comic books. The idea of oversexualization towards female characters is that they have
been often drawn and animated in hypersexual ways. Even going as far as viewing them as a sex
object, their revealing body images are eye candy through the eyes of men. Hence women found in
comic books and video games are frequently emphasized by their excessive physical appearances,
objectification, portrayal, and character role.
So, what does oversexualize mean anyway? The term oversexualize defines as to sexualize
excessively, which means to make something of sexual that is beyond degree in this case, a person or
someone of a gender whether male or female can be oversexualized. To begin with, costumes that
female characters wear are far more or less provocative clothes, but mainly towards sexually explicit
ways. For example, Ivy Valentine comes from a video game series called Soul Calibur who is the first
character to have a revealing outfit and in which her costumes appears to be a dominatrix style.
Furthermore, she shows a huge amount of cleavage with her exposed thighs and hips despite wearing
high boots and long gloves which indicates to be a skin display. This brings us to our next reason
about body types. The women s appearances we see in media have been designed to become a perfect
ideal and yet their massive breasts are exaggeratedly drawn to be in the size of basketballs

Moralism In Dorian Gray
A Deal With the Devil The idea of selling your soul comes from the German story, Faust. In the
legend, moral integrity is taken in exchange for an object of desire. Dr. Faustus sells his soul for
twenty four years of good luck, however, is haunted by his fear of hell. Similar to the legend, Dorian
Gray sells his soul for eternal beauty. His desire to repent and rid of the painting, from which his soul
is trapped in, until he is consumed by the temptation. The painting decays to the point of no return,
while Dorian s true character became more obscured, day by day. Dorian is a Faustian character due to
his selling of his soul, the impossibility of his redemption, and his inevitable demise. Lord Henry was
a crucial point in the corruption of Dorian; however, was he the Devil? The only way to get rid of a
temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has
forbidden to itself, with desire for what its monstrous laws have made monstrous and unlawful (Wilde
13). This begins the shaping of Dorian s character, as Lord henry continues to feed Dorian information
even giving him literature to read. Throughout the beginnings of Dorian slipping away from his moral
integrity, Dorian is increasingly growing obsessed with the ideas of Lord Henry. The relationship
between Lord Henry and Dorian almost parallels the relationship between Basil and Dorian. Basil s
fascination with Dorian s beauty is mirrored by Dorian s desire to discover the

useful, making them a revolutionary tool in the arts of Medicine, Science, and Engineering. From

affordable; but nevertheless, can a machine like this have no drawbacks or complications?

With this taking place, their factories become more eco friendly by not wasting their materials and
ceasing the waste products of them, while saving time and money. But not only that, some even create
full scale cars using 3d printers.
AS well as sustaining the ability to produce prosthetic limbs, 3d printing is also extremely useful for
creating artificial organs for needy patients in hospitals. But not only organs, but skin, bone, cartilage,
blood vessels, surgical tools as well as even hearts and stem cells can just as well be made by these
magnificent machines.
As 3d printing is additive manufacturing , consequently, it s products are printed from the ground up.
So therefore there s no waste of materials as opposed to other forms of production. Another buff of
having a 3d printer at hand would be using it to design and construct spare parts for everyday items.
Say, your favorite coffee mug s handle breaks; with the right measurements, you can have a
replacement part designed and printed accordingly, in no time instead of buying yourself a whole new

Women s Rights Of The Civil Rights Movement
Decades after the National Women s Party pushed for the passage of their proposed Equal Rights
Amendment, feminists of the 1960s and 70s rallied once again for this change in the Constitution. The
amendment, simply stating that, Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the United
States or any State on account of sex, quickly gained popularity among activists in the 1970s. This
support was not surprising, as this decade was a time of great change and protest. Feminist felt that
just as African Americans were gaining civil rights, women, too, should be considered as equals to
their counterparts. Women Right s leaders such as Alice Paul and Gloria Steinem pushed for the
passage of such major legislation. With support from Women s Right s groups such as the National
Organization of Women, the amendment quickly made its way to Congress. The bill passed first in the
House of Representatives in 1970, and then two years later, it passed in the Senate. As all amendments
are passed, the votes then continued into the states. In order to be added to the constitution, the ERA
needed to gain the support of thirty eight states. Within one year, twenty two states ratified the
amendment. The radical pace of the passage was promising and activists were certain that in the seven
year time span Congress allotted for state ratification, the bill would be passed. Momentum slowed,
however, when organized opposition came from an unlikely source. Phyllis Schlafly led a

Ice to the Eskimos
Spolestra articulates 19 principles or ground rules of jump start marketing, which are:
1. You ve got to want to clip on the wires and turn up the juice. In other words you and your team
must be highly motivated to try new things to reposition your product.
2. Don t fool yourself into thinking you re somebody else accept the realistic limitations of your core
product or service, and build from there.
3. Increase the frequency of purchases by your customers. No matter how poor your current product or
service, you must have some customers or clients. One key strategic dimension that you should be
thinking about is how to augment and reposition your product in order to sell more to this group.
4. Get the name and address of the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Copies were then given to the immediate customer who could then pass one along to his or her boss.
14. Run interference for your budding superstars. People who share a passion and a talent for jump
start marketing are invaluable, and should be nurtured and encouraged within your organization.
15. Make it too good of a deal on purpose. This is a fundamental point. Spolestra maintains that you
must find some way of repositioning or reformulating your product or service to make it something
that your potential customers simply cannot refuse. With the New Jersey Nets, one of the ways they
did this was to package a barbecue family dinner and drinks with the game. They managed their costs
so that the dinner alone was a bargain for the ticket price, to say nothing of the game being thrown in
as part of the deal. Tickets were sold by the thousands, the games were standing room only, and the
franchise made lots of money. Again, we see this approach of de emphasizing the core product (the
quality of the team), and augmenting and repositioning an enhanced product in its place.
16. Feel free to butt into other departments. Jump start marketing cannot be confined to the marketing
or sales department alone. Because it involves (sometimes drastically) reformulating the product or
service, it must cut across the various departments in the organization. The people who do this may
run into problems, and this is where rule # 14 comes

The Importance Of The Duty Of Confidentiality
Introduction
The nature of the banker customer relationship is one of agency. Amongst the duties that stem from
this relationship, the bank s duty of confidentiality is clearly an issue of great importance. The focus of
this essay is on the scope and limitations of the bank s duty, both to its customers as to the public. In
order to analyse this it is necessary to firstly consider the idea of duty of confidentiality, Secondly, it is
necessary to study the Court of Appeal s judgement in the case of Tournier. Thirdly, this essay will
take the Jack Committee report into consideration. Lastly, this paper will briefly mention the Banking
Code, it will also discuss whether the principle in Tournier may be outdated and if so, whether it is in
need of a new crystallised self, clearly stating the limits and boundaries of the bank s duties both to the
customer and to the public itself in the form of a statute. To conclude this essay will consider the
future of the duty of confidentiality.

The Budget Of The Federal Budget
Summary
The federal budget has been of much concern in the past decade. The public is growing increasingly
aware of the growing federal debt but nobody is offering solutions to our country s deficit spending.
Thus the public is uniformed about how much money is spent on certain programs such as Social
Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. In Red Ink, David Wessel offers a comprehensive view about what
consists of the federal budget, how the government receives revenues, and how the government
spends this money. The book begins by summarizing the federal budget. Wessel starts by headlining
that the U.S government is spending an incomprehensible 400 million dollars an hour, more than
$30,000 per American household (Wessel 20). To add to this outstanding figure, almost two thirds of
this is classified as mandatory spending which means that Congress doesn t decide on a year to year
basis whether to approve the expenditures. Throughout the book, Wessel reminds the reader that most
of the federal budget is set in stone and that in order to eliminate deficits, substantial spending cuts or
tax increases are necessary
Wessel spends a big portion of the book explaining how Social Security really works: the system
depends on the current working generation to support today s retirees (Wessel 86). He states that the
country will face the biggest Social Security expenditures in the next several years when the baby
boomers will entire retirement. On the other hand, the defense budget is

The question of debate in the music industry will always be is new school music as good as old school
music? For many years people have been debating over whether music got better with time, or if the
music industry has degenerated. From smooth jazz songs that make a person want to dance all night,
to rap songs that talk about getting rich. As time goes by and the world changes the point of view of
artists will change too.
For many people the soothing sounds that old school music has to offer and the message of the song is
what makes it so great. To others, that type of music sounds so outdated that it just does not sound
good anymore. A recent survey found that most people born in the 60 s, 70 s, and 80 s prefer old

gender equality, and same sex marriage. These problems were not as huge in the past as they are
today. With there being new current events every day, artists from today s music and artist from old

Andy Warhol Accomplishments
When considering the life and works of Andy Warhol, one thing is agreed upon for good or bad, he
changed the visual construction of the world we live in. His window advertisements were the
beginning of an era, where art would be seen in an array of forms away from the traditional paintings
and sculptures of the old world. He made people see everyday material objects in a whole new light;
through Pop Art he could transform mundane into extraordinary. He was a working man, a social
climber, a builder, an acquirer of goods, and a known homosexual. These attributes all contributed to
the interesting and complicated nature of his art. One of the most significant decades in 20th century
art, the 1960s saw the rise of Pop Art, Op Art, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Performance Art, and
Feminist Art, among countless other styles and movements. Artists began to notice that American
culture was filled with commercial images: on television and billboards, and in magazines and
newspapers, commercial art was used to sell everything from dish scrubbers to soup cans to cars to
movie stars and their movies. Pop artists used commercial art techniques to create new artistic forms.

Warhol used the silkscreen process, then a popular method of commercial printmaking, to duplicate
Marilyn s face. The uneven inking of the image translates her face with different degrees of clarity,
and the tilt of the grid gives the piece a handmade quality. Warhol does not give us one Marilyn; he
gives us twenty five. Perhaps he wants us to consider our obsession with celebrities, or to suggest that
more is always better, especially in the case of a celebrity with an already ubiquitous image. Either
way, Andy Warhol was able to alter the way people saw Monroe, through imperfect repetition, he
delivered a more human aspect to the overly glorified

Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge Essay
Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge
Everyday we put tons of pollution into the air, water and ground. Our population is growing each day
and in turn urbanization is expanding. Teddy Roosevelt, being an avid outdoorsmen, knew the
importance of setting land aside for posterity sake and in doing do set a trend for later presidents.
When Richard Nixon set land aside in Alaska, which became the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge
(ANWR), he set it aside to be never tainted by industrialization. Today republicans and some
democrats want to repeal the title of National Wildlife Refuge and drill there for oil. This could have
adverse effects for wildlife and the Inuit natives that call the ANWR and surrounding area home. In

An interesting fact about this issue is that 95% of Alaska s North Slope is open for exploration and
development leaving the ANWR as the remaining 5%(Sierra Club 1). The ANWR was set aside for a
reason, to be protected for later generations, so why drill in the protected site while 95% is open?
An article off of sacbee.com talks about the Gwich in people and their dependency on the ANWR. As
well as animals being adversely affected the Gwich in Inuit natives live there. They depend on the
protection of the ANWR because their chief source of food is caribou. They use every part of the
caribou for food, clothing, shelter and their cultural focus point. Repealing the status of a National
Wildlife Refuge would hurt their way of life that they have preserved over the years.
The site is being considered because the people who back this idea don t want the USA being
dependent on foreign oil. The fact is it would not make us less dependent on foreign oil, a 6 month
supply over 50 years is not going to do that. They are also afraid of Saddam Hussien controlling the
oil market, but economists say the world controls the prices. The oil they want to drill would be a very
small amount only about 2% of our total reserves. If they started drilling in 2002 we would not see it
until 2012, meaning we can not cure any problems that may occur before then.
This graph shows the amount of oil the refuge would give us is only a small bump in the road. The

Gender Roles In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window (1954), is ultimately a film presenting the ideas of a natural
voyeuristic nature within society and how the concepts of the traditional gender roles for males of
participating were challenged during this time. Rear Window is a film about a magazine photographer
who s active and adventurous life gets turned around when he is confined to a wheelchair in his small
apartment for six weeks. During these weeks he s found himself occupied by watching out his window
and sneakily looking into his surrounding neighbours lives, gathering suspicions that one of them,
Lars Thorwald has murdered his wife in cold blood, under the neighbours noses. The typical male

The main female role, Lisa Carol Freemont shows this by being a more active and adventurous role
rather than being the passive, boring role most women seem to portray, including Mrs Thorwald. The
film shows the main character, Jeff, as been limited to sitting in a wheelchair out the front of his rear
window, whilst he does this, he makes up wild opinions about his neighbour and decides that he s
guilty of murder. To try prove this whilst restricted to a wheelchair is difficult, so he remains in the
observing role while the female roles such as Lisa and Stella step in, take charge, and conduct all the
adventurous tasks to try prove Jeffries theory, being participants in the investigation, something
women were not portrayed as back in the 1950 s. Stella and Lisa were very productive and even broke
into the suspected murderers house and got caught, just to find evidence, all the while, Jeff was
perched by his window just watching and observing the women doing all the dangerous action. Back
in the 50 s, women s roles had only just been seen as also participative rather than just passive, Rear
Window challenged this further when they also immobilized the main male lead, Jeff, and instead
focused most of the attention on the womens role in the movie. With Jeff making comments such as
Now would you go make me a sandwich? , shows the audience that he was like the majority of most

Profile Of A Terrorist Analysis
UNDERSTANDING TERRORISM In the article Profile of a Terrorist by Cindy Combs, the author

determining what drives people to terrorism is no easy task. Why do people choose to commit acts of
terrorism? Why do people choose to become rebellious and wreak havoc on so many innocent
civilians? Combs discusses the different types of terrorists as suggested by Frederick Hacker who was

food from food company, such as Safeway, Starbucks, Fry s, and others. I think that was a good idea
to collect the leftover food from food producers instead of damping them, while some people were
dying of starvation. According to the St Mary s food bank request, some of people who come to the

increase the awareness of how to stay properly hydrated through the day. Our first objective is that at
the end of the education, 70 percent of participants should be able to correctly identify how many cups
of water they should drink every day. The second objective is that at the end of the education 80
percent of participants should be able to record at least two health complications caused by

same time, there are a huge number of people prefer to go shopping instead of using online shopping.
So here is the controversial issue that online shopping is superior to the traditional one. Actually,
online shopping is more effective than shopping in stores, for example, it saves time, available in any
time, a variety of product.

Essay about Janet Adelman s Hamlet
Janet Adelman s Hamlet
Janet Alderman in her essay Man and Wife Is One Flesh : Hamlet and the Confrontation with the
Maternal Body embraces the psychoanalytic tradition of Freud and Lacan in order to reveal the
quadruple angled relationship of the Hamlet monarchy. Focusing primarily on the relationship
between Gertrude and her son, Hamlet, Alderman attempts to recast the drama as a charged portrait of
Oedipal disillusionment and Lacanian sexual abnegation. Appropriately, sexuality provides the
impetus for Alderman s argument; toying with sex roles and the power of sexuality over family
dynamics and identity, she craftily reveals Hamlet to be a son s battle for his mother s purity, a
covetous attempt to regain a sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her uncontrollable sexuality is the derivation of Hamlet s suffering. Gertrude becomes the carrier of
the nightmare (259); she initiates Hamlet s quest to free the masculine identity of both father and son
from its origin in the contaminated maternal body (261). In attempting to exculpate the masculine,
Hamlet ultimately confuses and merges the two figures of paternity, Hamlet the Father and Claudius.
Adelman suggests that as Hamlet tries to differentiate between the two loves of his mother, he
confutes and collapses the two men into a single impression of masculine appetite (264). Hamlet,
according to Adelman, cannot distinguish his father from his uncle because he identifies both men
with an appetite for Gertrude s appetite (264). Sexual relationships define the drama s causality and
Hamlet s perception. Adelman points out that because of Hamlet s lack of a distinct, idealized father
he relocat[es] his identity predicament in the female body, in his mother (266 67). Adelman makes
another reaching and defining statement when she claims that this subjection of male to female is, I
think, the buried fantasy of Hamlet, the submerged story that it partly conceals and partly reveals
(268).
At this point, Adelman feels it necessary to partly conceal and partly reveal her own argument. She
employs of the analogy of Cain and Abel version of the fall from paradise; a version that excludes
feminine presence. Adelman

information over a long term period of time. Despite short term memory, long term memory seems to
decline very little in as time goes on. Your long term memory can store an unlimited amount of
information for an unlimited amount of time (Mastin,2010). Long term memory has three different
memories the procedural memory, semantic, and the episodic memory (McLeod,2010). The
procedural memory is the part of the long term memory where we remember how to do things. The
semantic memory is in charge of store information about the world and finally the episodic memory
store memories about an event. Short term memory can have relationships with negative and positive
emotions. Based on the study by Philipp Spachtholz; working memory can be affected by emotions.
Emotions can be defined using a variety of components such as physiologically and cognitively.
Physiologically, speaking emotions originate in the amygdala; which is located in the limbic system.
The limbic system is in the brain which is enables the brain to learn, house memories and have
emotions. The amygdala is almond shaped structure that helps trigger the physiological reactions that
is associated with emotions (Cherry, 2016). The amygdala is also in charge of imprinting emotions
onto each memory. This occurs by releasing the same neurochemicals that have been produced when

Horizontal integration is of additional business activities that are in similar or different industries.
Because the different firms are involved in the same stage of production, horizontal integration allows
them to share resources at that level. If all of the producers of a particular good or service in a given

The Effects Of Soil Contamination On The Environment
In the world we are living in today, with a growing population of approximately 7 billion, demands on
fossil fuels are now greater than ever. Although innovative research on green energy sources have
flourished during the past years, fossil fuels remain the dominant source of energy in the world.
Methods of extraction and storage for crude oils can become detrimental to the environment if not
properly handled. Starting from marine spills, to leakage of underground storage tanks, these
anthropogenic activities intoxicate soil and water bodies impacting both terrestrial and aquatic life.
However, through a natural process called bioremediation, microbes are able to degrade toxic
pollutants and even result in the complete restoration of contaminated sites. This paper will focus
mainly on bioremediation of oil contaminated soils.
Introduction
Soil contamination occurs when an excessive amount of a substance is present in the soil at higher
than normal concentration without necessarily causing any direct harm (Vance, Pierzynski, Sims,
1994). Soil contamination can lead to soil pollution, which is the evolution of soil contamination,
causing some type of direct harm; thus a soil can be contaminated but not polluted (Vance et al.,
1994). In most cases, oil contaminated soils have some type of direct or indirect negative
consequences on the environment. Crude oils, when found in little to excessive amount, can destroy
ecosystems and impact human health. A thorough description of

However; fatigue is the description to lack of motivation and energy both physically and mentally,
which causes a decrease in performance and alertness. Flight attendants job is one of many jobs in the
aviation industry where it is very usual to experience stress as well as fatigue, that can reduce the
ability of awareness of risks and hazards that may occur, later lead to major accidents or incidents.

Previous studies on cognitive change have typically employed self report inventories of cognitive

examine the process of assimilation, accommodation, and overcoomodation. The samples of battered
women who are studies are almost exclusively made up of women who came forward and sought help

the most troubled of battered women or raped women, who sought help because of their distress; or
they may be the healthiest of battered women, who still have the resources to seek services. The most
distressed may not have requested help because they are immobilized. Depending upon the
formulation of which current samples represent, the psychological distress of battering may be over or

There has been minimal investigation of the association with PTSD treatment outcomes in general, or

  • 5. Center for Literacy 1.1 Overview Literacy is important in our everyday lives. According to the Center for Literacy in the United States of America, Literacy is a complex set of abilities needed to understand and use symbols and systems of a culture alphabets, numbers, and visual icons for personal and community development . The nature of these abilities, and the demand for them, vary from one context to another. These skills are clearly being found necessary in our everyday lives (Center For Literacy, 2012). Several years ago, being literate meant being able to read and write a little. Now, being literate means being able to read and write at a level to be successful in today s world and also being proficient at math, knowing how to use technology, and knowing how to solve problems and make decisions. The power of literacy lies not only in the ability to read and write but rather the individual s capacity to put those skills in shaping the course of his or her life. Literacy is required for daily activities such as reading the post, filling in a job application, and helping children with their homework. In many countries, illiteracy is a national problem. According to the National Adult Literacy Survey (Literacy Mid South) approximately 44 million people in the United States cannot read well enough to fill out an application, read a food label, or read a simple story to a child (Literacy Mid South). • 6. Frankenstein Cruelty Analysis Everyday, we hear stories of theft, abuse, and murder. Instantly, we judge the perpetrators. However, why do some people commit these crimes? What causes them to take this path? Are they just inherently bad, or are their actions influenced from external factors around them? Mary Shelley s Frankenstein explores this interesting notion of tabula rasa the idea that babies are born with a blank slate, suggesting that humans are not just pre packaged with certain behaviours or prejudices. Rather, it is learned. People are born pure and compelled to do evil at the feet of exclusion, isolation or abuse, just like Frankenstein and/or the monster . In this sense, acts of cruelty in Frankenstein show that every one of us is capable of taking this heinous route of personal and projected destruction with the absence of companionship. However, there are always intrinsic motivations or characteristics revealed about the perpetrator/victim during these violent events. Thus, with further inspection of both Frankenstein and his creation s acts of cruelty, the reader is exposed to their insecurities, perspective on women, and dire vengefulness. Violent and cruel acts are usually done to display power or dominance. Yet, in Frankenstein, they can be counterproductive and reveal insecurities or buried fears instead. The earliest example of cruelty is when Frankenstein essentially abandons his child right after creating it: ...I beheld the wretch ― the miserable monster whom I had ... • 8. Taking a Look at Local Produce My topic is local produce. I chose this topic because I am really interested in the different types of food people consume and how it affects their health. The big question I will be answering is whether or not to buy local or non local foods. I will go over which is safer for the economy, the environment, and people. After I research this, I will then find which one is better to buy. This is a question that each person should ponder before deciding which type of food to buy. My hypothesis is that eating locally will be better and safer for everyone. Do you often find that the foods in your fridge are nonlocal? There are many negative things to contemplate when deciding what type of foods to buy. Issues upon this topic include foodborne illnesses, also known as food poisoning, incorrect processing and handling and preparation of meats, and bacteria. Many multi state waves in which have infected many hundreds of people have lately been traced back to specific farms, food processors, and specific food handlers. (As stated by sustainabletable.org) Some major issues with buying non local foods that have an effect of the earth are pesticides and steroids. They can be put into these foods and can seriously harm the consumer. Pesticides are made to kill pests to the plant, but they often hurt humans instead. By buying local food, your chances of eating foods that contain pesticides become less likely. When foods are grown locally, they are generally in season because they do not ... • 9. Video Games And Its Effects On Female Characters Throughout the world women are depicted to be oversexualized among forms of media such as video games and comic books. The idea of oversexualization towards female characters is that they have been often drawn and animated in hypersexual ways. Even going as far as viewing them as a sex object, their revealing body images are eye candy through the eyes of men. Hence women found in comic books and video games are frequently emphasized by their excessive physical appearances, objectification, portrayal, and character role. So, what does oversexualize mean anyway? The term oversexualize defines as to sexualize excessively, which means to make something of sexual that is beyond degree in this case, a person or someone of a gender whether male or female can be oversexualized. To begin with, costumes that female characters wear are far more or less provocative clothes, but mainly towards sexually explicit ways. For example, Ivy Valentine comes from a video game series called Soul Calibur who is the first character to have a revealing outfit and in which her costumes appears to be a dominatrix style. Furthermore, she shows a huge amount of cleavage with her exposed thighs and hips despite wearing high boots and long gloves which indicates to be a skin display. This brings us to our next reason about body types. The women s appearances we see in media have been designed to become a perfect ideal and yet their massive breasts are exaggeratedly drawn to be in the size of basketballs ... • 13. Moralism In Dorian Gray A Deal With the Devil The idea of selling your soul comes from the German story, Faust. In the legend, moral integrity is taken in exchange for an object of desire. Dr. Faustus sells his soul for twenty four years of good luck, however, is haunted by his fear of hell. Similar to the legend, Dorian Gray sells his soul for eternal beauty. His desire to repent and rid of the painting, from which his soul is trapped in, until he is consumed by the temptation. The painting decays to the point of no return, while Dorian s true character became more obscured, day by day. Dorian is a Faustian character due to his selling of his soul, the impossibility of his redemption, and his inevitable demise. Lord Henry was a crucial point in the corruption of Dorian; however, was he the Devil? The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself, with desire for what its monstrous laws have made monstrous and unlawful (Wilde 13). This begins the shaping of Dorian s character, as Lord henry continues to feed Dorian information even giving him literature to read. Throughout the beginnings of Dorian slipping away from his moral integrity, Dorian is increasingly growing obsessed with the ideas of Lord Henry. The relationship between Lord Henry and Dorian almost parallels the relationship between Basil and Dorian. Basil s fascination with Dorian s beauty is mirrored by Dorian s desire to discover the ... • 15. Women s Rights Of The Civil Rights Movement Decades after the National Women s Party pushed for the passage of their proposed Equal Rights Amendment, feminists of the 1960s and 70s rallied once again for this change in the Constitution. The amendment, simply stating that, Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the United States or any State on account of sex, quickly gained popularity among activists in the 1970s. This support was not surprising, as this decade was a time of great change and protest. Feminist felt that just as African Americans were gaining civil rights, women, too, should be considered as equals to their counterparts. Women Right s leaders such as Alice Paul and Gloria Steinem pushed for the passage of such major legislation. With support from Women s Right s groups such as the National Organization of Women, the amendment quickly made its way to Congress. The bill passed first in the House of Representatives in 1970, and then two years later, it passed in the Senate. As all amendments are passed, the votes then continued into the states. In order to be added to the constitution, the ERA needed to gain the support of thirty eight states. Within one year, twenty two states ratified the amendment. The radical pace of the passage was promising and activists were certain that in the seven year time span Congress allotted for state ratification, the bill would be passed. Momentum slowed, however, when organized opposition came from an unlikely source. Phyllis Schlafly led a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Ice to the Eskimos Spolestra articulates 19 principles or ground rules of jump start marketing, which are: 1. You ve got to want to clip on the wires and turn up the juice. In other words you and your team must be highly motivated to try new things to reposition your product. 2. Don t fool yourself into thinking you re somebody else accept the realistic limitations of your core product or service, and build from there. 3. Increase the frequency of purchases by your customers. No matter how poor your current product or service, you must have some customers or clients. One key strategic dimension that you should be thinking about is how to augment and reposition your product in order to sell more to this group. 4. Get the name and address of the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Copies were then given to the immediate customer who could then pass one along to his or her boss. 14. Run interference for your budding superstars. People who share a passion and a talent for jump start marketing are invaluable, and should be nurtured and encouraged within your organization. 15. Make it too good of a deal on purpose. This is a fundamental point. Spolestra maintains that you must find some way of repositioning or reformulating your product or service to make it something that your potential customers simply cannot refuse. With the New Jersey Nets, one of the ways they did this was to package a barbecue family dinner and drinks with the game. They managed their costs so that the dinner alone was a bargain for the ticket price, to say nothing of the game being thrown in as part of the deal. Tickets were sold by the thousands, the games were standing room only, and the franchise made lots of money. Again, we see this approach of de emphasizing the core product (the quality of the team), and augmenting and repositioning an enhanced product in its place. 16. Feel free to butt into other departments. Jump start marketing cannot be confined to the marketing or sales department alone. Because it involves (sometimes drastically) reformulating the product or service, it must cut across the various departments in the organization. The people who do this may run into problems, and this is where rule # 14 comes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The public is growing increasingly aware of the growing federal debt but nobody is offering solutions to our country s deficit spending. Thus the public is uniformed about how much money is spent on certain programs such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. In Red Ink, David Wessel offers a comprehensive view about what consists of the federal budget, how the government receives revenues, and how the government spends this money. The book begins by summarizing the federal budget. Wessel starts by headlining that the U.S government is spending an incomprehensible 400 million dollars an hour, more than $30,000 per American household (Wessel 20). To add to this outstanding figure, almost two thirds of this is classified as mandatory spending which means that Congress doesn t decide on a year to year basis whether to approve the expenditures. Throughout the book, Wessel reminds the reader that most of the federal budget is set in stone and that in order to eliminate deficits, substantial spending cuts or tax increases are necessary Wessel spends a big portion of the book explaining how Social Security really works: the system depends on the current working generation to support today s retirees (Wessel 86). His window advertisements were the beginning of an era, where art would be seen in an array of forms away from the traditional paintings and sculptures of the old world. He made people see everyday material objects in a whole new light; through Pop Art he could transform mundane into extraordinary. Focusing primarily on the relationship between Gertrude and her son, Hamlet, Alderman attempts to recast the drama as a charged portrait of Oedipal disillusionment and Lacanian sexual abnegation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her uncontrollable sexuality is the derivation of Hamlet s suffering. Gertrude becomes the carrier of the nightmare (259); she initiates Hamlet s quest to free the masculine identity of both father and son from its origin in the contaminated maternal body (261). In attempting to exculpate the masculine, Hamlet ultimately confuses and merges the two figures of paternity, Hamlet the Father and Claudius. Adelman suggests that as Hamlet tries to differentiate between the two loves of his mother, he confutes and collapses the two men into a single impression of masculine appetite (264). Hamlet, according to Adelman, cannot distinguish his father from his uncle because he identifies both men with an appetite for Gertrude s appetite (264). Sexual relationships define the drama s causality and Hamlet s perception. Adelman points out that because of Hamlet s lack of a distinct, idealized father he relocat[es] his identity predicament in the female body, in his mother (266 67). Adelman makes another reaching and defining statement when she claims that this subjection of male to female is, I think, the buried fantasy of Hamlet, the submerged story that it partly conceals and partly reveals (268). • 34. The Effects Of Soil Contamination On The Environment In the world we are living in today, with a growing population of approximately 7 billion, demands on fossil fuels are now greater than ever. Although innovative research on green energy sources have flourished during the past years, fossil fuels remain the dominant source of energy in the world. Methods of extraction and storage for crude oils can become detrimental to the environment if not properly handled. Starting from marine spills, to leakage of underground storage tanks, these anthropogenic activities intoxicate soil and water bodies impacting both terrestrial and aquatic life. However, through a natural process called bioremediation, microbes are able to degrade toxic pollutants and even result in the complete restoration of contaminated sites. This paper will focus mainly on bioremediation of oil contaminated soils. Introduction Soil contamination occurs when an excessive amount of a substance is present in the soil at higher than normal concentration without necessarily causing any direct harm (Vance, Pierzynski, Sims, 1994). Soil contamination can lead to soil pollution, which is the evolution of soil contamination, causing some type of direct harm; thus a soil can be contaminated but not polluted (Vance et al., 1994). In most cases, oil contaminated soils have some type of direct or indirect negative consequences on the environment. Crude oils, when found in little to excessive amount, can destroy ecosystems and impact human health. A thorough description of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Previous studies on cognitive change have typically employed self report inventories of cognitive distortions, which limit the response options available to participants and focus on content rather than process. What has not been attempted to date is to asses cognitions in a less restricted manner and to examine the process of assimilation, accommodation, and overcoomodation. The samples of battered women who are studies are almost exclusively made up of women who came forward and sought help or shelter. These samples are probably not representative of battered or raped women. They might be the most troubled of battered women or raped women, who sought help because of their distress; or they may be the healthiest of battered women, who still have the resources to seek services. The most distressed may not have requested help because they are immobilized. Depending upon the formulation of which current samples represent, the psychological distress of battering may be over or underestimated (Johnson, Beight, 2003). There has been minimal investigation of the association with PTSD treatment outcomes in general, or how they might be associated with different types of treatment. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) has been established as highly efficacious treatment for PTSD (Monson, Rodriguez, Warner, 2005), and is perhaps the treatment of choice according to meta analysis comparing it ...
