Maxim In The Wagon Mound
1. The main purpose of the maxim is to avoid injustice to the plaintiff as otherwise the plaintiff would
be required to prove the details of the cause of the accident, which he may not know. As stated by NH
Chan JCA in Teoh Guat Looi v Ng Hong Guan, res ipsa loquitur was in essence no more than a
common sense approach to the effect of the evidence in certain circumstances. It means that a plaintiff
prima facie establishes negligence where it is not possible for him to prove precisely how the accident
happened, but on the evidence as it stands, he manages to show that the accident could not have
happened without the negligence on the part of the defendant.
One important requirement is that the damage or injury which has occurred must give rise to the
presumption that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No. Because before The Wagon Mound, the court was in favour of the direct consequence test which
can be seen in Re Polemis and Furness, Withy Co Ltd. However, the test rests on the fault principle
rather than compensation , whereby once a person is established to have committed a tort, he has to
bear all the losses that arises as a consequence thereof. Consequently, the court uses the reasonable
foresight test in The Wagon Mound, as the Privy Council ruled that Re Polemis should not be
considered good law.
4. The Wagon Mound is the accepted test in Malaysia, approved in the case of Government of
Malaysia v Jumat bin Mahmud Ors.
5. In Bolton v Stone, the HOL held that the distance between the place where the ball was hit to the
edge of the field which was surrounded by a seven foot wall made injury to the plaintiff rather remote.
A person must only take reasonable steps against risks that may be materialise. Thus the cricket club
was held not liable for allowing cricket to be played without having taken extra precautions, such as
increasing the height of the fence. On the facts, the freak kick has hardly ever happened before.
Therefore, the school has no liability towards

Are Children Valued In The Past
Humans have always lived in social groups because of the necessities of each other. One point I found
interesting in this article was how children were valued and taken care of in the past. The reason why
children were highly valued in the past was because there were more caregivers available for each
child. This was due to the fact that people lived in multicultural and social groups focusing less on the
significance of personal space and privacy. All these individuals play a vital role in the child s
advancement and safety. Based on the article, a child under the age of six has roughly 4 to 5 caregivers
which are more than society has in this modern generation. Another point that fascinates me was how
having a logical interaction plays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hailey suffered abuse at an early, she did not act like a normal child. She was adopted by foster

s mother who quit her job to stay home with her, Hailey had behavior problems and mood swings.
Due to the months, she was neglected as a child, Hailey had developmental problems. Proper care and
healthy relationships help children who experience traumatic events in their early year s heal. Systems
in the United States of America moves children to and fro from foster home, sending them to different
therapists and communities. To some point, this system is making a child s life much difficult. Most
children do not need therapy and other medical treatments. What these kids need is love, attention, and
care from family, teachers, neighbors and others. A loving relationship plays an important role in a

Descriptive Essay On Orsa Vesa
A Home to Many
The sun beats down on the land of Mesa Verde causing it to be a very hot and dry place, especially
when it is not monsoon season. Mesa Verde is comprised of many extensive cuestas which are made
of huge boulders and covered by a variety of trees, shrubs, and bushes. This environment provides a
home to many different species that stay in this national park, for example birds, rabbits, insects, etc.
During the morning at Mesa Verde, the pinyon jay and the Steller jay perch on the branches of the
Colorado pinyon pine or Utah juniper that are found all throughout the woodlands. They sit there
motionless, waiting and watching for little insects to wake up and start moving around on the ground.
The famished birds are ready to glide down at any moment from the branch and devour food. As the
birds grow tiresome of waiting for insects to wake up, they pick up little seeds that fall out of cones
that look like little brown roses and grow on the pinyon pine. The birds nibble on the little green
juniper berries that scatter the ground and the tree like polka dots. While the jays are collecting seeds
and berries, black billed magpies pass over them high in the sky. They plummet down to collect twigs
and needles from the pine or junipers.
With its talons full of collected twigs, magpies fly back to their nests that they carefully construct
hidden away in the holes above the alcoves in the sides of the cuestas. After forty days of building
their nests, they begin to lay

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Microprocessor
Microprocessor is a semiconductor device which contains most of the central processing unit (CPU)
functions and an engine that is fabricated on a single chip (Brain, n.d.). It is a multipurpose and
programmable device that process the input data into output results according to instructions stored in
its memory which is represented in binary numeral system (Microprocessor, n.d.). The first
commercially available microprocessor is Intel 404 which is a 4 bit processor and it was introduced by
Intel Corp in 1971 and designed for the usage of calculator (Intel 4004 microprocessor family, n.d.).
The 4004 was fully integrated in a small chip and held 2,300 transistors which included the 4001
ROM, 4002 RAM and 4003 Shift Register. It also executed up to 92,000 single word instructions per
second which could access 4 KB of program memory while 640 bytes of RAM. Intel 4004 s minimum
feature size is 10 µm while the maximum CPU clock rate is 740 Hz (Intel 4004, n.d.). It had a control

microprocessor with a 64 KB main memory and 2 microseconds clock cycle time. It also can execute
500,000 instructions per second which is ten times faster that Intel 8008. In the mid 1970 s,

Othello the Outsider
Shakespeare portrays Venice as incredibly advanced for its time. This is seen especially though its
democratic justice system, as we are shown that in Act One everybody has a voice regardless of their
colour or sex. The fact that Othello has obtained the high position of general within the army suggests
that his chances have by no means been restricted by the colour of his skin. Also the fact that he is
treated with the utmost respect from the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, shows that the colour
of ones skin is not seen as a disadvantage in Venetian society. We are aware of its reputation as a very
sexual city through the booming sex trade and it is viewed as a very cosmopolitan city due to its
importance as a trading port. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare used the comments of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo at the beginning of Act One, so that
we had preconceived ideas of Othello and were prepared to observe him as different , however as we
learn about his true personality we feel terrible about forming such prejudiced opinions and therefore
we place Othello high up on a pedestal. This is Shakespeare s intention for his Tragedy, as this
provides the central character, Othello, with a further distance to fall, adding significance to his
disintegration later on in the play. We learn that the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, holds the
utmost respect for Othello proving that the words of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo do not reflect the
opinion of all Venetians: Valiant Othello . We now begin to unravel that these particular characters are
all biased against Othello, due to personal problems. Brabantio s discovery of Othello s marriage to
his daughter sparks a hatred within him and his references to piracy and witchcraft exposes a racist
element in his character: O thou foul thief! Where hast thou stowed my daughter? Damned as thou art,
thou hast enchanted her . Although he was happy for Othello to dine at his house with his daughter
many times before, the intimacy of marriage proves a step too far for Brabantio and aided by Iago s
manipulation, he turns against

Biological And Environmental Factors On Human Behavior
The purpose of this paper is to provide evidence that nature and nurture play a formative role in
human development and behavior patterns. In other words, this paper aims to describe the impact of
biological and environmental factors on human personality traits and their behavioral tendencies. This
is important in terms of sociology which focuses on human and social behavior and why certain
individuals behave in a certain manner or do things in a distinct way. Understanding how nature and
nature influence human behavior helps to shed light on the varying degrees that an individual is
influenced by socialization, society, social norms, innate qualities, genetic traits and biological factors.
Keywords: Nature and nurture, Genes and environment, Human behavior, Social Norms
Proponents of the nature theory believe that a person s innate qualities are solely responsible for
determining their characteristics and behavioral traits. It is a known fact that physical characteristics
such as a person s eye color, hair texture, skin pigmentation and predisposition to certain chronic
diseases such as hemophilia, sickle cell disease and Turner syndrome are all linked to inherited genes.
The aforementioned facts have resulted in the belief that other human characteristics such as
personality attributes and behavioral patterns are engrained in our genetic makeup. In other words, an
individual is born with the propensity to engage in deviant acts or to act in

Comparing Emerson s Writings with Whitman s Writings
Emerson and Whitman
A commonality when comparing Emerson s writings with Whitman s writings are the use of the ideas
Emerson came up with integrated and used in Whitman s writing. It is clear that Emerson s writing
were a set of instructions for the Transcendentalist movement in addition to a lifestyle to try and attain
or rise up to for society. Emerson give guidelines and ideas on how people should function in society
largely based off of nature and its natural occurrence and set order. When Whitman starts writing, he
adopts Emerson s guidelines in order to become a great poet. In Transcendentalism, one of the
commonalities in the writing is the idea of nature as a beneficial part of the world. The natural world
to be precise is an underused and not understood piece of the world. Emerson and Whitman both saw
nature as a beneficial topic to study in their writings. Emerson and Whitman both studied and reflected
upon nature in order to understand lessons or basic guidelines that it could teach them about being
human. In Self Reliance and Song of Myself, it can be seen that if you are willing to study nature and
gain the knowledge it gives you to live your life lessons can be gained. Nature is not simply pretty
scenery to look at but if studied deeper it promotes a lifestyle. Particularly, for Emerson, nature is seen
as perfect because it is not tainted by the constructs or failures of man it is simply natural and
untouched. In addition, man s law has no power over

Drug Legalization In Canada Essay
Summary
Recently there has been a lot of news surrounding the legalization of Marijuana in Canada. The
legalization is to actually take place in 2017. However, the discussion of this topic has already begun.
Many people are requesting the government to allow pardons on past possession charges. It is their
opinion that if the drug is going to be legalized sooner or later, it is justified to pardon the past
offences. The article even mentions two men whose lives are affected by the criminal record of having
minor narcotics. They both state that they are unable to travel abroad (namely to america), and have
personal issues such as landlords refusing to rent to them. It is their opinion, alongside others, that just
because of a small charge their lives do not need to be affected so much. Especially considering that
the government is going to legalize the drug anyway. The article also mentions how the previous
conservative government made it harder to receive a pardon. Due to this, many people have be unable

of our country will now be able to legally utilize these drugs, it does have a larger impact. As far as

ally way. The the people who are asking for pardons, I believe that they should be allowed to go
through the pardon system and have a chance at getting one. Obviously, there will be some people
who are not eligible to receive a pardon. This fact, however, is decided by the parole board. I think it
would be best if the system went back to how it was before the previous government made the process
harder. That way, the people who do deserve the pardon, can receive

Neighborhood Definition
How Much Does Your Neighborhood Define Who You Are? Your neighborhood doesn t define who
you are. For those who aren t in your neighborhood but have seen or heard about it already have a
reputation for you. But your neighborhood doesn t define the way you want your life to be. For
example, Those who live in Ferguson are horrible people and no one would ever want to move there ,
most people would say. Ferguson had one accident and now for the rest of your life Ferguson will be
the place where no one wants to be. For those who live in fancy rich neighborhoods with rich schools,
supposedly don t steal, have proper grammar, very intelligent, and never lie. For those who live in the
inner city with poor living conditions, are the ones to steal, lie, make crimes, etc. That is what most
people think when they hear inner city . New York Times article says, They fear that when poor people
move next door crime, drugs, blight, bad public schools and higher taxes inevitably follow. They
worry that the value of their homes will fall and the image of their town will suffer . Although people
may move in and make your neighborhood look bad it still doesn t define you. Addie Benson says As

How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Symbols In A Young...
n Young Goodman Brown Nathaniel Hawthorne uses symbolism to show a moral throughout the
story. The author shows that even people with the most faith will eventually lose their innocence.
Goodman Brown tests his faith as he visits the devil in the forest. Visiting the devil causes chain
reactions which ultimately lead to the loss of innocence.
One of the symbols Hawthorne uses to show loss of innocence is the Devils staff. The staff has a
biblical illusion because it is like the apple in Adam and Eve. The staff like the apple represents
temptation. If Goodman brown takes the staff he gives into the temptation of the devil. Goodman
Brown grasp his staff and set foot again (Hawthorne 5). Goodman brown tries hard to stay away from
the temptation of the staff but eventually he gives in. Goodman brown takes the staff to quicken his
journey. As Goodman Brown takes the staff he loses his innocence because he gave into the
temptation of the devil.
Another symbol that is used by Hawthorne to show loss of innocence are Faiths pink ribbons.
Goodman brown discovers that Faith has lost her pink ribbons indicating that she has lost her
innocence. The young man seized it and beheld a pink ribbon (Hawthorne 5). The ribbons are used
since the beginning of the story to represent Faiths purity and innocence. When Faith tries to sell her

Water Privatization Essay
Water is just as important as air, it is a basic need for life, ever since the beginning when one is
searching for life, water is the first thing to look for, without water there is no life. Everyone deserves
to have access to water.
Yet 1/8th of the worlds population doesn t have access to safe and clean drinking water. Most of these
people are from the developing parts of the world, this translates into 884 million people without safe
and clean drinking water, thats equivalent to the size of north and south America. Over the course of
the year 1.5 million people die each year from water related causes. Poor countries have been told that

However, when the company took over their local wells and informal pumps as well as the system
infrastructure, many consumers were priced out of the market, unable to pay the increased water rates,
which in some case had doubled. To further develop this, the world bank forced Cochabamba and El
Alto s water to be privatised because they said if they didn t, they will cut off Bolivia s water
development loans completely. This explains that once water services are privatised, very little can be
done to ensure that the company will work in the best interest of the
community. Furthermore, if a community is dissatisfied with the performance of the company,
buying back the water rights is a very difficult and costly proposition. Again the prime directive of the
water companies is to minimise profits, not to protect consumers
Water privatisation can also have good affects on the developing parts of the world. This is because in
developing countries their public water facilities and infrastructures are not up to date, damaged
and/or not working properly. By privatising water in these underdeveloped regions, this will ensure
that their water facilities are running adequately because people are paying for it. It will also create
revenue through taxes for the government.
However, around 40% of people in the developing world are living in poverty, they are unable to

fall of humanity which followed after. The act is Adam and Eve s consumption of the forbidden fruit
from the Tree of Knowledge, which is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. However, their
actions were in response to a serpent s trickery. According to many Christian traditions, this serpent is
Satan, the angel who rebelled against God and fell from heaven to hell where he became pitted against
God and all humanity. However, in Paradise Lost, Milton complicates this set role of Satan. Milton s
Satan is an extraordinary and majestic figure that we find difficult to avoid feeling sympathy towards,
and impressed by his pride and leadership skills. (unafraid of being damned eternally, prideful, a
strong leader, comparable to the size of a Titan, and ingeniously develops his own heaven out of hell.)

However, he is also the most likeable character in Paradise Lost. OK, maybe likeable is going a bit too
far, but many readers of the poem have found it difficult to not identify with him and to avoid
sympathizing with him. When he wakes up in Hell, chained to a burning lake, how can we not feel a
bit sorry for him (put sad quote of him chained to the lake). All Satan wanted to achieve was to
overthrow God, which is impossible anyways because God has universal power. But he doesn t give
up when he fails/falls. (find quote about Satan destroying humanity) this is a another admirable trait
that Satan has because he wont give up once he starts something, he goes and finishes it. A lot of
readers can identify with him because it is a characteristic we see in

Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window Essay
Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window is a voyeuristic point of view (POV) style of filming. The point of
view captures the intimate details of the neighbors lives through the view of Jimmy Stewarts character
L. B. Jefferies (Jeff). Hitchcock set the tone for movies of the POV style. There are many films today
that have used the same POV techniques, such as 2007 s Disturbia, directed by D.J. Caruso, who was
inspired by Rear Window. Although the setting are different, Disturbia gives the audience the view
from the aspect of a teenager, Kale Brecht (Shia LaBeouf), who under house arrest starts spying on his
neighbors. When one night he watches his neighbor dispose of what he thinks is body (Cooper, 2012).
These two movies while similar, differ as well. Rear Window, I felt for its time was somewhat risqué
for its time period. The suggestion of intimacy with many of the neighbor s and a young woman
baring her back while changing. Hitchcock did a remarkable job of capturing the emotions and mise

The Effects Of Environmental Regulations On The...
The only thing stopping the human population from an event of mass extinction is the federal, state,
and other international governments. Climate change is a current, and very real threat, in fact, it is
even considered a national security threat to Pentagon officials. Global temperatures, sea levels, and
CO2 levels are all rising at an exponential rate. If action isn t taken by such levels of government,
planet earth is destined for doom. The question, however, is if the government should be responsible
for regulating the environment, and then that sparks the question of which level of government should
regulate the environment. Although I agree that the federal government has the upperhand in
influencing states to enact laws upon specific environmental policies, and while power not granted to
the government belongs to the state and people, I still insist that environmental regulations should be
set in the hands of both state and federal government in order to assure adequate environmental
protection over localized areas upon which the U.S. government has limited jurisdiction. Climate
changed is caused by the warming of global temperatures due to a phenomenon known as the
greenhouse effect, which is the entrapment of CO2 and other various byproducts of human
intervention such as methane gas, released from cows as they consume grass. These chemicals create,
in a sense, a blanket around earth, trapping solar energy. And in response, heating up the planet,

Exploring Multi Project Management And Its Impact On...
empirical research has focused on individual projects., however, most large manufacturers have
several products lines and constantly develop new products to replace existing products or to add
completely new product lines. Each project within a firm has at least some linkages both
technologically and organizationally with other on going projects and past projects within the firm.
Therefore, it is very important managing of different projects interact organizationally or relate to each
other technically for a firm to leverage its engineering and financial resources, as well as an existing
technology and design, across as many projects as possible. Nonetheless, there has been little research
that undertaken and explores multi project management and its impact on either market or
organizational performance. In recent years Auto manufacturers became more cared about the
efficiency. They have faced severe profitability problems, which are related at least in part to the high
costs of developing and manufacturing new products or product variations in markets for automobiles
and other industries such as consumer electronics. In these markets, demand has slowed or even
declined, while the cost of money in Japan has increased due to rising interest rates and drops in the
stock market and real estate values [10]. These firms need to improve their efficiency in developing
multiple new products, yet maintain as much as possible the frequency of new product introductions

A Research On Safe Environment Essay
Safe Environment A safe environment allows for a student s basic needs to be met, which can be a
great preventative measure to inappropriate student behavior. This safe environment should be
psychologically safe in that students can feel free to share and explore ideas and knowledge.
Additionally, the environment should be physically safe, in the setup of the classroom and behavior of
the students. Without a safe environment, students aren t free to value learning and come to be a
lifelong learner.
Positive Relationships
Contributing factors to a safe environment are positive relationships, including student teacher, student
student, and parent teacher. In developing each of these relations, I will be present and pleasant.
To develop positive student teacher relationships I will begin the school year by getting to know each
student. I will do this through having the students answer questions about themselves on a notecard or
on a self portrait. These questions might include their favorite color, favorite animal, favorite subject,
and an interesting fact. I would also share my answers with the students so they can get to know me.
Another strategy I will use is greeting my students at the door as they enter and leave, to develop the
relationship in the classroom and show that I continue to care as they leave. Another crucial part of
this relationship is to show your belief in them. I will exemplify this by calling on all students equally
by using the notecards developed at

Organizational Systems and Impacts
Shortly after the acquisition of PacifiCare by UnitedHealth Group (UHG), the differences in the
corporate culture and leadership styles were apparent. No longer did the PacifiCare motto of every

allowed to stay the motto practiced by many of the acquiring managers was more reminiscent of we

For those units that did interact with patients the patient care model utilized was one focused on
improving the health of specific populations of patients. Differing slightly from the traditional disease
management approach of assisting patients in the management of their lifestyle choices that affected
their chronic medical conditions, Optum subscribed to the population health focused patient care
model. As described by Cramm and Nieboer (2016) the population health delivery model was one,
which emphasized improving the overall quality of the patient s life by addressing the physical, social,
and financial difficulties typically faced by patients with chronic medical conditions. The goal of the
population health model was to foster a sense of well being within the patient by providing the
education and resources needed to empower the patient to make life long changes (Cramm Nieboer,
2016).
Systems Model
From an organizational perspective, Optum utilized the divisional structure approach. Broken up
across business segments and geographic locations, each division within Optum functioned as an
autonomous business entity (Optum, n.d.). Each business segment was then organized according to the
business needs of that particular unit. For the population health management unit, an informal team

Pathos Ethos In Bowling For Columbine
The 2002 film Bowling for Columbine is a documentary written, directed, and narrated by Michael
Moore. Moore has won numerous awards including the Academy Award for best documentary feature.
The film explores acts of violence with guns and the primary causes for the Columbine School
Massacre, where two students shot and killed thirteen people and injured twenty one others. Bowling
for Columbine takes a deep and often disturbing probe into what the motives may have been for the
shooters and investigates other gun related issues along the way. Moore explores different aspects of
gun culture such as receiving free guns from a bank, taking a look at America s violent history, and
interviewing important people like Charlton Heston, former president of the National Rifle
Association. The film ultimately comes to the conclusion that the American culture of fear along with
the accessibility of guns is the reason why there are so many gun related deaths. This thesis is
supported by many examples Ethos, Logos, and Pathos evidence.
Ethos is when the author uses the reputation, credibility, experience, and values of the author or an
expert as a means of persuasion. Moore himself is a renowned documentary maker and he ensures that
his film is factually true. However, at times he manipulates facts and other people to suit his needs.
For example, in the beginning of the film he is seen opening an account at a bank where customers
that open an account receive a free gun. Moore himself

Ichabod Crane In The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
Ichabod Crane is not only a dynamic all around character, but he is one of the main characters in the
story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. The story is somewhat of a dramatic love
story set in a creepy town in New York in the 1800 s. Ichabod Crane and Abraham Brom VanBrunt
(Brom Bones) were in competition for the same girl (Katrina). Of course, this girl happens to be the
daughter of the richest guy in town and she is pretty good looking. Ichabod thought if he would hit on
her that she would fall for him. This created a lot of conflict between the two men and tested their
manhood. Ichabod Crane ends up getting chased out of town by the Headless Horsemen. This led to
Brom Bones sweeping Katrina off of her feet and he being the one who ends up getting the girl.. In the

Welfare Causes Poverty in America Essay
There seems to be an increase in poverty in the United States and there are so many theories behind
why this might be a problem. It seems as if Society as a whole wants to blame this social condition on
Society itself. I believe that the problem of poverty lies within the actual individuals that are
experiencing poverty. There are a few reasons why people experience poverty. They are as follows:
One, the liberal welfare programs that were started in the 1960 s, two, individuals lack the
characteristic of power and individuality, three, anti social behavior and the idea that poverty passes
from one generation to the next. The liberal welfare programs were started in the 1960s to help

It seems as if they were unable to say no to the provided or shall I say free support and unable to say
yes to the ability to gain and be able to support their selves. It was so much easier to have someone to
do it for them. Not only did they lack integrity but they lacked the power and confidence needed to
make it on their own. These individuals knew that the government has been and will continue to
support them so they became even lazier. These individuals became lazy and began to involve
themselves with only individuals of the sort, which developed into anti social behavior. Once the anti
social behavior sets in we can t train these individuals to assimilate into society, we can t train these
people to be like you and me. We can t train these people to be normal. I classify normal as someone
who is willing to support or at least try to support themselves on a regular basis. If I can work to
support me, my family and you why can t you work to support you , this includes your family also.
Children are indeed a product of their environment.
Being a product of your environment can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing depending on your
environment. In the eyes of poverty I do believe that it is a bad thing because poverty seems to be
passed on from generation to generation. You can t expect the next generation to be any better than the

Examples Of Rebirth In Phoenix Jackson
How Phoenix Jackson Represents Rebirth and Immortality When reading the colorful story Worn Path
by Eudora Welty, her many descriptions bringing life to what would have been a desolated America
during the Great Depression. Phoenix Jackson, main character, herself even becoming something to
examine and study, as well as the characters and environment she encounters. Phoenix Jackson
embarks on a journey to retrieve medicine for her sick grandson. Phoenix Jackson is described first as
old African American woman. When given her description of herself (outfit and features), personality,
and her many struggles to retrieve medicine, can been seen as rebirth or immortality, as well as
describing America and it s future after depression. Phoenix Jackson s body, that is described, and her
ethnicity are worth studying. At this time in history, the nineteen thirties, being a woman and African
American were both downsides to what would have been desired: Caucasian and male. Phoenix
Jackson s skin tone is also described very differently as well, with patches of multi skin tone with blue
rage eyes (288). At first it is another noteworthy description, but when view deeper it could represent
multiple things. Like many rebirthing that of a phoenix (mythical bird, that rebirth in a fireball, and
reborns from their ashes) goes through, signifying her treacherous journey and obstacles overcome. It
also can be used to show the diversity of not just her, but of America, where everyone old, sick, poor,
no matter of race suffering all together. Phoenix Jackson wrinkles on her face, described as a tree
roots, where tree sported in the middle of her face. Then even goes as far as telling us that gold
underlining around her wrinkles and forehead, a color commonly associated with phoenix colors
(usually represented as gold and red). Which explains her red rag that she wears around her head. Like
that of a phoenix, she herself is draped like one. From Phoenix s scalp to her golden wrinkles. The
personality of Phoenix Jackson is that as one of a mad hatter. Perfectly sane when things are in her
sight, but with a vivid imagination many things come to life. The scarecrow, that she saw as a flapping

itself is suffering from its own issues: the decline of native species, ocean pollution, the erosion of
waterways, and more. None of these problems can be solved in a single sweeping gesture. Only

and the world as a whole.
However, while many small efforts are necessary, large changes can be accomplished when

Lab Report On The Reaction Time
Nicholas Durazo
KINE2202 section 002
Lab Report 1
Introduction
The reaction time (RT) of students was measured in the experiment to determine whether light or
sound stimulus initiates a quicker response time. The question of whether or not RT was related to
movement time (MT) was also challenged. Each student performed two test in random order; one
testing the reaction time of a red light stimulus, or visual reaction time (VRT); and the other testing the
reaction time of a beeping sound stimulus, or auditory reaction time (ART). The student completed the
VRT trial by simply receiving the stimulus and pressing a button. The student placing and holding
their hand on a button starts the ART trial. Once the student receives the stimulus (beep) they press the
adjacent button as fast as they can. The ART trial does not only include the data of the RT, but also the
data from the MT. Having previous knowledge that light travels faster than sound; one can predict that
VRT is faster than ART. The prediction that MT is independent upon RT can be made with the thought
that there are so many opposing variables that could affect the MT of an individual unrelated RT such
as old age
Methods
In the experiment, 80 students were randomly separated into groups of 2 to write down the data from
the test for the other individual. The VRT was measured by pressing a button once the student had
seen the stimulus. The reaction time data would simply show up on the screen once the student

Employees who feel over rewarded will feel an imbalance in their relationship with their employer.
What kinds of actions might they take to restore balance? Given payment by time, over rewarded
employees will produce more than will equitably paid employees. Hourly and salaried employees will
generate high quantity or quality of production in order to increase the input side of the ratio and bring
about equity. Given payment by quantity of production, over rewarded employees will produce fewer,
but higher quality, units than will equitably paid employees. Individuals paid on a piece rate basis will
increase their effort to achieve equity, which can result in greater quality or quantity. However,
increases in quantity will only increase inequity because every unit produced results in further

McDonald s or Arby s food. Yes, that s the same animal that s in your fried chicken, Big Mac, and
Smoked Italian Prochetta. To consider reducing the amount of suffering these animals go through, one
should consider embracing a vegetarian lifestyle. Eating a diet without any meat or animal flesh not

A major advantage of vegetarianism is the improvement of personal health for the long run. Meat
eaters showed a 300 percent risk of colon cancer in a Harvard investigation whereas a study done by
England and Germany displayed a 40% less cancer risk for those committed to a vegetarian diet (
Vegetarian Foods ). Vegetarianism helps reduces the risk of cancer. Moreover, research shows that
meat consumption often allows overabundance of protein in the body which leads to kidney stones,
osteoporosis, and . . . heart disease ( Vegetarian Foods ). A vegetable diet with grains, beans, and other
protein sources help maintain a balance of protein. Additionally, a rising obesity rate concerns an
overwhelming amount of people who desire to lose weight (in a healthy way). Many can turn to a
vegetarian lifestyle which keeps their weight and health in check. A research study showed how plant
based diet helped people with type 2 diabetes to lose weight . . . and improve their metabolism (
Vegetarian Diet ). Basically, a vegetarian diet even promotes healthy weight loss. The impact of

Relationship Between Sexuality And Identity
Discuss the relationship between sexuality and identity in Fun home.
This essay will be examining the relationship between sexuality and identity in the book, Fun Home
(2006) by Alison Bechdel. Bechdel s memoir Fun Home explores the way gender and sexual identity
play important roles in the world. It frames the discovery that Bechdel when she was a young girl
realised she was a lesbian, whilst at the same time finding out that her father is also homosexual and
had been sexually active with males throughout his marriage to her mother, destroying their
relationship. Through the use of visual comic pictures and writing, the books central themes challenge
cultural norms of sexual and gender identity. It questions how associated a daughters open lesbian
identity is with her fathers closeted gay one. Bechdel s sexual discovery throughout the book, is
always linked to her father Bruces sexual identity and it is possible to say that it had an effect on her
own sexuality. She provides the reader with a sample of the identity struggle both her and her father
suffered with to illustrate the experience they both had. The images within the text give only a small
amount of information, where as the text is the most important element. This essay will explore
whether sexuality and identity can be seperated, or whether your sexuality frames who you are with
reference to Watson (2008), Freud (1920) and Fantasia (2011), whilst giving an analytical view at the
text Fun home.

  • 2. Maxim In The Wagon Mound 1. The main purpose of the maxim is to avoid injustice to the plaintiff as otherwise the plaintiff would be required to prove the details of the cause of the accident, which he may not know. As stated by NH Chan JCA in Teoh Guat Looi v Ng Hong Guan, res ipsa loquitur was in essence no more than a common sense approach to the effect of the evidence in certain circumstances. It means that a plaintiff prima facie establishes negligence where it is not possible for him to prove precisely how the accident happened, but on the evidence as it stands, he manages to show that the accident could not have happened without the negligence on the part of the defendant. One important requirement is that the damage or injury which has occurred must give rise to the presumption that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No. Because before The Wagon Mound, the court was in favour of the direct consequence test which can be seen in Re Polemis and Furness, Withy Co Ltd. However, the test rests on the fault principle rather than compensation , whereby once a person is established to have committed a tort, he has to bear all the losses that arises as a consequence thereof. Consequently, the court uses the reasonable foresight test in The Wagon Mound, as the Privy Council ruled that Re Polemis should not be considered good law. 4. The Wagon Mound is the accepted test in Malaysia, approved in the case of Government of Malaysia v Jumat bin Mahmud Ors. 5. In Bolton v Stone, the HOL held that the distance between the place where the ball was hit to the edge of the field which was surrounded by a seven foot wall made injury to the plaintiff rather remote. A person must only take reasonable steps against risks that may be materialise. Thus the cricket club was held not liable for allowing cricket to be played without having taken extra precautions, such as increasing the height of the fence. On the facts, the freak kick has hardly ever happened before. Therefore, the school has no liability towards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Are Children Valued In The Past Humans have always lived in social groups because of the necessities of each other. One point I found interesting in this article was how children were valued and taken care of in the past. The reason why children were highly valued in the past was because there were more caregivers available for each child. This was due to the fact that people lived in multicultural and social groups focusing less on the significance of personal space and privacy. All these individuals play a vital role in the child s advancement and safety. Based on the article, a child under the age of six has roughly 4 to 5 caregivers which are more than society has in this modern generation. Another point that fascinates me was how having a logical interaction plays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Descriptive Essay On Orsa Vesa A Home to Many The sun beats down on the land of Mesa Verde causing it to be a very hot and dry place, especially when it is not monsoon season. Mesa Verde is comprised of many extensive cuestas which are made of huge boulders and covered by a variety of trees, shrubs, and bushes. This environment provides a home to many different species that stay in this national park, for example birds, rabbits, insects, etc. During the morning at Mesa Verde, the pinyon jay and the Steller jay perch on the branches of the Colorado pinyon pine or Utah juniper that are found all throughout the woodlands. They sit there motionless, waiting and watching for little insects to wake up and start moving around on the ground. The famished birds are ready to glide down at any moment from the branch and devour food. As the birds grow tiresome of waiting for insects to wake up, they pick up little seeds that fall out of cones that look like little brown roses and grow on the pinyon pine. The birds nibble on the little green juniper berries that scatter the ground and the tree like polka dots. While the jays are collecting seeds and berries, black billed magpies pass over them high in the sky. They plummet down to collect twigs and needles from the pine or junipers. With its talons full of collected twigs, magpies fly back to their nests that they carefully construct hidden away in the holes above the alcoves in the sides of the cuestas. After forty days of building their nests, they begin to lay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Othello the Outsider Shakespeare portrays Venice as incredibly advanced for its time. This is seen especially though its democratic justice system, as we are shown that in Act One everybody has a voice regardless of their colour or sex. The fact that Othello has obtained the high position of general within the army suggests that his chances have by no means been restricted by the colour of his skin. Also the fact that he is treated with the utmost respect from the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, shows that the colour of ones skin is not seen as a disadvantage in Venetian society. Shakespeare used the comments of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo at the beginning of Act One, so that we had preconceived ideas of Othello and were prepared to observe him as different , however as we learn about his true personality we feel terrible about forming such prejudiced opinions and therefore we place Othello high up on a pedestal. This is Shakespeare s intention for his Tragedy, as this provides the central character, Othello, with a further distance to fall, adding significance to his disintegration later on in the play. We learn that the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, holds the utmost respect for Othello proving that the words of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo do not reflect the opinion of all Venetians: Valiant Othello . We now begin to unravel that these particular characters are all biased against Othello, due to personal problems. Brabantio s discovery of Othello s marriage to his daughter sparks a hatred within him and his references to piracy and witchcraft exposes a racist element in his character: O thou foul thief! Where hast thou stowed my daughter? Damned as thou art, thou hast enchanted her . Biological And Environmental Factors On Human Behavior The purpose of this paper is to provide evidence that nature and nurture play a formative role in human development and behavior patterns. In other words, this paper aims to describe the impact of biological and environmental factors on human personality traits and their behavioral tendencies. This is important in terms of sociology which focuses on human and social behavior and why certain individuals behave in a certain manner or do things in a distinct way. Understanding how nature and nature influence human behavior helps to shed light on the varying degrees that an individual is influenced by socialization, society, social norms, innate qualities, genetic traits and biological factors. Keywords: Nature and nurture, Genes and environment, Human behavior, Social Norms Proponents of the nature theory believe that a person s innate qualities are solely responsible for determining their characteristics and behavioral traits. It is a known fact that physical characteristics such as a person s eye color, hair texture, skin pigmentation and predisposition to certain chronic diseases such as hemophilia, sickle cell disease and Turner syndrome are all linked to inherited genes. Comparing Emerson s Writings with Whitman s Writings Emerson and Whitman A commonality when comparing Emerson s writings with Whitman s writings are the use of the ideas Emerson came up with integrated and used in Whitman s writing. It is clear that Emerson s writing were a set of instructions for the Transcendentalist movement in addition to a lifestyle to try and attain or rise up to for society. Emerson give guidelines and ideas on how people should function in society largely based off of nature and its natural occurrence and set order. When Whitman starts writing, he adopts Emerson s guidelines in order to become a great poet. In Transcendentalism, one of the commonalities in the writing is the idea of nature as a beneficial part of the world. The natural world to be precise is an underused and not understood piece of the world. Emerson and Whitman both saw nature as a beneficial topic to study in their writings. Emerson and Whitman both studied and reflected upon nature in order to understand lessons or basic guidelines that it could teach them about being human. In Self Reliance and Song of Myself, it can be seen that if you are willing to study nature and gain the knowledge it gives you to live your life lessons can be gained. Nature is not simply pretty scenery to look at but if studied deeper it promotes a lifestyle. It is their opinion that if the drug is going to be legalized sooner or later, it is justified to pardon the past offences. The author shows that even people with the most faith will eventually lose their innocence. Goodman Brown tests his faith as he visits the devil in the forest. Visiting the devil causes chain reactions which ultimately lead to the loss of innocence. One of the symbols Hawthorne uses to show loss of innocence is the Devils staff. However, when the company took over their local wells and informal pumps as well as the system infrastructure, many consumers were priced out of the market, unable to pay the increased water rates, which in some case had doubled. To further develop this, the world bank forced Cochabamba and El Alto s water to be privatised because they said if they didn t, they will cut off Bolivia s water development loans completely. This explains that once water services are privatised, very little can be done to ensure that the company will work in the best interest of the community. Furthermore, if a community is dissatisfied with the performance of the company, buying back the water rights is a very difficult and costly proposition. Again the prime directive of the water companies is to minimise profits, not to protect consumers Water privatisation can also have good affects on the developing parts of the world. This is because in developing countries their public water facilities and infrastructures are not up to date, damaged and/or not working properly. By privatising water in these underdeveloped regions, this will ensure that their water facilities are running adequately because people are paying for it. John Milton begins Paradise Lost by formally stating his poem s subject: humankind s first act of disobedience toward God and the fall of humanity which followed after. The act is Adam and Eve s consumption of the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, which is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. However, their actions were in response to a serpent s trickery. According to many Christian traditions, this serpent is Satan, the angel who rebelled against God and fell from heaven to hell where he became pitted against God and all humanity. However, in Paradise Lost, Milton complicates this set role of Satan. Milton s Satan is an extraordinary and majestic figure that we find difficult to avoid feeling sympathy towards, and impressed by his pride and leadership skills. Climate change is a current, and very real threat, in fact, it is even considered a national security threat to Pentagon officials. Global temperatures, sea levels, and CO2 levels are all rising at an exponential rate. If action isn t taken by such levels of government, planet earth is destined for doom. The question, however, is if the government should be responsible for regulating the environment, and then that sparks the question of which level of government should regulate the environment. Although I agree that the federal government has the upperhand in influencing states to enact laws upon specific environmental policies, and while power not granted to the government belongs to the state and people, I still insist that environmental regulations should be set in the hands of both state and federal government in order to assure adequate environmental protection over localized areas upon which the U.S. government has limited jurisdiction. Climate changed is caused by the warming of global temperatures due to a phenomenon known as the greenhouse effect, which is the entrapment of CO2 and other various byproducts of human intervention such as methane gas, released from cows as they consume grass. Differing slightly from the traditional disease management approach of assisting patients in the management of their lifestyle choices that affected their chronic medical conditions, Optum subscribed to the population health focused patient care model. As described by Cramm and Nieboer (2016) the population health delivery model was one, which emphasized improving the overall quality of the patient s life by addressing the physical, social, and financial difficulties typically faced by patients with chronic medical conditions. The goal of the population health model was to foster a sense of well being within the patient by providing the education and resources needed to empower the patient to make life long changes (Cramm Nieboer, 2016). • 29. Pathos Ethos In Bowling For Columbine The 2002 film Bowling for Columbine is a documentary written, directed, and narrated by Michael Moore. Moore has won numerous awards including the Academy Award for best documentary feature. The film explores acts of violence with guns and the primary causes for the Columbine School Massacre, where two students shot and killed thirteen people and injured twenty one others. Bowling for Columbine takes a deep and often disturbing probe into what the motives may have been for the shooters and investigates other gun related issues along the way. Moore explores different aspects of gun culture such as receiving free guns from a bank, taking a look at America s violent history, and interviewing important people like Charlton Heston, former president of the National Rifle Association. The film ultimately comes to the conclusion that the American culture of fear along with the accessibility of guns is the reason why there are so many gun related deaths. This thesis is supported by many examples Ethos, Logos, and Pathos evidence. Ethos is when the author uses the reputation, credibility, experience, and values of the author or an expert as a means of persuasion. Moore himself is a renowned documentary maker and he ensures that his film is factually true. However, at times he manipulates facts and other people to suit his needs. Lab Report On The Reaction Time Nicholas Durazo KINE2202 section 002 Lab Report 1 Introduction The reaction time (RT) of students was measured in the experiment to determine whether light or sound stimulus initiates a quicker response time. The question of whether or not RT was related to movement time (MT) was also challenged. Each student performed two test in random order; one testing the reaction time of a red light stimulus, or visual reaction time (VRT); and the other testing the reaction time of a beeping sound stimulus, or auditory reaction time (ART). The student completed the VRT trial by simply receiving the stimulus and pressing a button. The student placing and holding their hand on a button starts the ART trial. Once the student receives the stimulus (beep) they press the adjacent button as fast as they can. The ART trial does not only include the data of the RT, but also the data from the MT. Having previous knowledge that light travels faster than sound; one can predict that VRT is faster than ART. The prediction that MT is independent upon RT can be made with the thought that there are so many opposing variables that could affect the MT of an individual unrelated RT such as old age Methods In the experiment, 80 students were randomly separated into groups of 2 to write down the data from the test for the other individual. The VRT was measured by pressing a button once the student had seen the stimulus. The reaction time data would simply show up on the screen once the student completed ...
