The Pigman Compare And Contrast Essay
In the stories, The Pigman by Paul Zindel, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, and The Snob by
Morley Callaghan. relationship(s) can be defined as the way in which two or more concepts, objects,
or people are connected or the state of being connected. We will elaborate on the following
relationships between friendship, love, and wealth
Firstly, friendship was the main thing in the Pigman Both teenagers, they enter a friendship with a
local old man named Mr. Pignati, who is referred to as the Pigman not only for his name but in part
because of a collection of miniature pig figurines that is his prized possession. While The Pigman

In this tragedy, our protagonist, as well as other characters that play an important role, show these
indications being of high degree. We can apply these concepts to our protagonists, such as Marcus

his soldiers towards the end of the book where the final battle between the armies of Brutus and
Cassius fight Mark Antony s and Octavius armies: Act 5 Scene 1 Line 65 66 Octavius challenges

My Primus Amor
I was staring into her green eyes as I had many times before tonight and yet something was different
about them in our dimly lit apartment that dark cloudy night. John I know you re on something, said
Margret in a tearful fiery rage, just tell me what it is before I lose my temper! Okay, I said, I m on
oxycodone. After I said that she left the room tears streaming from her face like a dam had broken. I
attempted to chase after her but in my inebriated state I fell to the floor. As I lay there on the floor, I
could not help but think of how Margret finally knew my problem. I flashed back to the night that I
had taken my first oxy with rob and how instantly hooked I was to the substance. It made me feel so
good; it took the edge off the world, took away my pain, and cancelled out everything I did not want
to focus on in this cruel world. As the flash back ended I was once more staring back into Margret s
eyes. Promise me you re going to stop these drugs, she said. As the cliché of the drug addict goes I
said, I promise you Margret that I ll quit these not only for me but for you . Okay, she said, but no
more chances after this one. Alright babe, this is the only chance I ll need, said as I pecked her on the
check then drew her into a warm embrace. Her embrace felt like it was lacking the trust and warmth
that had been there many times before. It is surprising then that I didn t see the next series of events
coming. It had been several weeks since I had told

William Blake s The Tyger
William Blake s The Tyger and Tragedies William Blake wrote a set of poems in his collection Songs
of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Some of the poems in each collection were meant to be read
together to show the difference between innocence and experience. Many people question why Blake
wrote a two part series to his poems and what they could actually mean. Two specific poems, The
Lamb and The Tyger, were meant to be read together. The Lamb is a part of Blake s Songs of
Innocence and The Tyger is a part of the Songs of Experience collection. Blake went through a great
deal of tragic events in his life between the writing and publishing of Songs of Innocence and Songs
of Experience. Dreadful occasions in William Blake s life may have influenced his poem The Tyger in
the Songs of Experience collection. William Blake had some tragedies during the time period between
Songs of Innocence (1789) and Songs of Experience (1794). Grevel Lindop stated, After 1789 Blake s
work became more openly revolutionary, but also grimmer, the radiant vision of Innocence challenged
by the fire and darkness of Experience (Lindop). Lindop explains that on July 14, 1789 the French
Revolution broke out, and during the war William Blake seemed to take a more gruesome approach to
his writings. Blake published his Songs of Innocence poems in 1789 and then after those poems, he
wrote ghastly poems such as the poems in the Songs of Experience collection, The Revolutionary War,

Everything Dali Paints Symbolizes Something Else Essay
Dali s Vision
The painting Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate A Second Before
Awakening was painted by Dali in 1944. The painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension of
51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In his
masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He
illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single
object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself
symbolizes something in the world. Dali s Caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate a

The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is
seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals,
the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock is
repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or more
explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The rock that she is floating above represents moral
principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the
support of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of
battle are about to descend upon the people like a downpour. The evil and horrors came from the
sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with
mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what
has been said.
Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant,
with its long legs and its great load, characterizes the worldly greed, which also differed from the
traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like the
woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to
mangle and kill the woman.

Templar Car History
Some you ancient ones may have heard of the Templar automobile. It was manufactured in Lakewood,
Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, from 1917 until 1924. There were at least thirty car manufacturers in
northeast Ohio during these years. The founders of the Templar Motor Company were a group of
Knights Templar who were involved in the paving and construction businesses. Sources differ on these
details, but some of the names identified with the venture include M.F. Bramley, Arthur M. Dean, J.E.
Mathews, W.J. Hunkin and D.C. Reed. They named their car Templar , and selected the Maltese Cross
as its emblem. This emblem appeared on the door sills, hub caps, gas pedal, arm rests and boarding
steps. The name was an excellent choice, invoking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upholstery options were red or black. Fenders were black enamel, and the wheels were natural finish
woods. Striping and monograms were extra. E.G. Cannonball Baker, who was a famous race car
driver of the era, was a promoter for Templar. He challenged all comers to match his Templar in speed,
endurance and reliability. In 1919 he drove a Templar from New York to Chicago in twenty seven
hours. This was six hours faster than the previous record, and was accomplished over 992 miles of
mud, rain and detours, with an average speed of 36.9 mph. In 1921 he set a new record for a run from
Akron to Cleveland in twenty five minutes, averaging over sixty mph. This record was certified by the
AAA. The Templar Motor Company went out of business due to post war depression, supplier
problems and a fire at the factory. But mostly it was competition. These cars were individually hand
made, while Ford and others used production lines and interchangeable parts. This lack of modern
manufacturing capability doomed most of the fancy autos of the period. A Cleveland bank seized the
company s assets for default on a loan payment in 1924. Stock in the company had been widely sold,
and the investors, about 20,000 of them, lost a total of $6 million, which would be $42 million in

Multilayered Structured Sun
2. The sun being a multilayered structure has 3 main layers. There is the Chromosphere, the
Photosphere and the Corona. The photosphere is mainly the thinnest layer of gas where Earth receives
the sunlight from and convection occurs right under the photosphere. The motion of hot materials
rising while the cooler materials sink and this causes granulation. Granulation also known as the
mottled appearance is the dark regions and that is how the energy inside the sun is transferred out.
7. When looking at the sun you would imagine that the surface would be boiling. But since the surface
of the sun is actually pretty cool it causes very few hydrogen atoms to have electrons in the excited
states. With the hydrogen atom providing a limited amount of excited electrons it would cause us not
to see it on the spectral line. But unlike the hydrogen being abundant, calcium isn t. Calcium has
enough electrons to transfer from the ground state and make an appearance on the spectral lines
because it isn t abundant.
9. We don t have evidence that sunspots are magnetic but we do know that the sunspots are caused by
the magnetic activity amongst the sun. Also with the understanding of the Zeeman effect we can
conclude how strong the magnetic fields are that cause the sunspots. In conclusion we see that
sunspots are in fact apart of the magnetic field in the layers of the suns atmosphere.
10. To fully understand the sun cycle many scientists use the Babcock model. The Babcock model

Essay about Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe
Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe s Sonnet to Science is an example of how the structure of a poem can both aid and
hinder the poet in communicating his or her thoughts. Usually, when the poet chooses to structure his
poem in the form of a sonnet, he is, through his speaker, asking a question and reaching an answer. In
this poem, however, the speaker, probably a young poet, questions Science but reaches no conclusion.
Poe uses the English sonnet to communicate his youthful speaker s feelings of disdain for science and
facts as opposed to mythology and fantasy, which inspire poetic musings. He implores Science as to
why she must impose her dull realities on the hearts of poets like himself, squelching their ... Show

The first time the speaker uses a personal pronoun is in line 13, at the turn of the sonnet. He states that
Science, in addition to undoing the magic of classical mythology, has stolen his personal summer
dream. The speaker is evidently a dreamer and poet disappointed by the damper that fact places on
fancy. The tone throughout the poem is one of questioning, like most sonnets. However, in this
particular poem, the speaker is disdainful to the subject, Science. He angrily accuses Science of
preying like a vulture upon the poet s heart. The speaker seems to have personal resentment against
Science, because he names himself as suffering a loss at the hands of fact and reality along with the
mythological Diana, Hamadryad, and Naiad.
In the first line of the poem, Science! true daughter of Old Time thou art!, the speaker appears to be
respectful toward Science, and the reader might mistake this poem for a tribute to the subject.
However, the tone immediately changes when he describes Science as having peering eyes in line 2.
This is the reader s first indication that the speaker holds contempt for the daughter of Old Time. The
speaker s descriptions of Science grow worse as he accuses her of dragging Diana from her car, the
moon, and driving the Hamadryad from her wood, a tree which she is never supposed to leave. When
the speaker finally mentions himself as a victim of Science s dull realities,

Triumphal Arch Of Pompey The Great
Triumphal Arch of Pompey the Great Around 50 BCE three influential military and political leaders
rose to power through an unofficial alliance. Through their alliance they forever changed how the
Roman Republic and Senate were run, and the history of Rome. The first triumvirate included Julius
Caesar, Pompeius Magnus, and Licinius Crassus. Pompey and Crassus were both very influential
military and political leaders, having both served as consuls and roman generals. Together they allied
with Caesar to move him up into consul status, as well as using his power to help push forward their
political ideas and principles. Crassus and Pompey, who originally were enemies, continued to
compete with one another trying to take over the triumvirate and be the sole roman consul. Eventually,
with the event of several key deaths, the triumvirate fell apart. It soon became evident that only one
person could rule, and the idea of three co rulers had failed. Shortly after, Pompey and Caesar split up
their alliance after the Roman Senate and the population of Rome had different ideas about who
should be the sole consul. The two consuls competed for leadership of the Roman state, which
eventually lead to a civil war. Had Pompey won the civil war, Rome would have been forever changed
with Pompey as leader.
Pompey came from an extremely wealthy family with a political and military background. Pompey s
father, Gnaeus Pompeius Strabo, was extremely wealthy and politically involved,

Comparison of Mesopotamia and the Indus Civilization
Mesopotamia and Harappan societies have long been compared throughout the history of archaeology.
Mesopotamia, also known as, the land between the rivers, was named for the triangular area between
the Tigris and the Euphrates river, (Nov. 7 lecture). In recent use, it covers a broader area referring to
most of what is now Iraq. This adds ancient Assyria and Babylonia to the scope of Mesopotamia
(Schultz and Lavenda 1995:310). Parts of Mesopotamia were not inhabited at all until approximately
8000 BC when plants and animals were domesticated, bringing about an agricultural revolution. This
allowed nomads and cave dwellers to become farmers and herders.(Whitehouse 1977:129).)
The Indus civilization is often referred to as Harappan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Hawkes 1973:275). The level of grain present would have represented the level of public credit.
(Hawkes 1973:275). In Mesopotamia there were state and temple grain stores, but because of the size
and architectural importance of those at the Indus sights, they are believed to have a greater
importance. (Hawkes 1973:275).
GOVERNMENT
The state in Indus civilization was governed by a centralized government. (Hawkes 1973:263). The
regular planning of Indus towns and cities could only mean that each was built as a whole by an
authority with absolute control (Hawkes 1973:273). Because of the uniformity over such a large area,
it is almost guarunteed that the entire Indus area was a unified state. (Hawkes 1973:273). The two
main sights were Harappa and Mohenjo Daro, and they were the commercial and administrative
centers. It is unlikely that there were two equal rulers, however. (Hawkes 1973:2730). The citadels
suggest a combination of a combined military and religious power. There weren t temples that
dominated the area like at Mesopotamia, only a few shrines have been found in the Indus territory.
(Hawkes 1973:276). We don t know the nature of the authority there, whether it was ruling priests or
kings,(Whitehouse 1977:122) but we know the ruling elite had religious practices of ritual cleaning
through bathing. (Whitehouse 1977:278).
In Mesopotamia we have a clearer picture of the ruling powers which were

Most of the characteristics that we take on, we later throw away, after discovering that they do not
work for us.
Many of the characteristics that we develop from this time remain with us for the rest of our lives. We
continue to do things like a family member does or did. Some of the complexes that we develop when
we are mere toddlers take us a lifetime to shed. It is during the whole stage of adolescence when we
begin to doubt. During this stage we begin to find out who we really are.
This process can only be achieved by sifting through the complexes we have developed, questioning
them, and changing what we don t like. We build on what fits who we are. Although this process slows
down, it still continues for the rest of our lives.Robert Johnson emphasizes that every human being has
got to break away from their parents at some point in time, especially their mother complex that lives
inside each and every one of us. It is the mother complex that effects us the most and that requires the
greatest struggle to recover from. When a child first tries to separate themselves from their mother, it
is all in vain. They are only trying to hide it from themselves and the rest of the world.
When some aspect of ourselves is being ignored in hopes of it disappearing, that aspect will act up like
a child looking for attention. It is only when we can fully accept and understand what

Most people will have negative views and associates them as a criminal. They will assume that you
live in poverty, you are on government assistance, and that you obtain a low level education. These
views are forced on us because of the way society has delineate them. For example when we see a
news report about a car that has been stolen in the inner city we instantly think a poor raised black
man; but why? Well society has told us that if one black man has stolen, then all black men are
thieves. On television they advertise welfare and government assistance, but what they show is a poor

BC known as a kouros. A kouros is a sculpture of a nude male youth standing with his left leg forward
and his arms at his sides (Gladwell 2005: 1). The officials from the museum purchased the statue after
they did a 14 month investigation but had suspiciousness. The museum brought in Greek scholars and

Essay On Eminent Domain
Eminent Domain is the actual inherent power of the government to take over a citizens property for
public use without the owner s consent. This was initially a part of public policy that originated in the
middle ages throughout the world. It was adopted by into British Common law before reaching the
Americas where it was then established into the U.S. Constitution in 1791 called the Due Process
Clause of the Fifth Amendment. This grants the federal government the right to exercise eminent
domain, provided protect to citizens, and protect the property rights of citizens. Shortly after the Just

No Taxation without Representation Essay
Taxation is an extremely controversial topic in the United States because in order to continue to enjoy
the American comforts of healthcare, social security, national and neighborhood defense, and
regulated clean water and air, to name a few, we continue to increase the demands of our government
without wanting to pay for the supply of services. Remember, money is a currency and can be used to
consume, invest, save, pay loans (including credit cards), or pay taxes. If asking various families what
it means for American s to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as described in the
Declaration of Independence, the responses will vary drastically. Background: United States Economy

transportation infrastructure, education, unemployment assistance, health assistance, social security,
veteran benefits, and administration of justice to name a few. As a society, there are a few questions
that continually arise but are never decided upon. First, which services are considered merit goods,
commodities that the public sector provides free or at a discounted price in order to encourage
consumption (Britannica)? Second, how much of a merit good should be paid for by the government?
Third, should the merit good be publicly or privately provided? Fourth, if there is a good which is not
considered a merit good but has a large positive externality, should it be government subsidized?
Lastly, should the wealthy contribute more taxes than the poor? I m sure we can all agree that there are
some goods that need to be publicly provided by the government in order to ensure that everyone has

It s about my entire life, it s not just about my childhood. I want to know that I m going to have

Amnesi Memory Loss
Amnesia is referred to as memory loss. Memory loss may result from bilateral damage to the brain
parts that deal with memory storage, processing, and recall. Amnesia has many root causes and most
of them are traced back to physical trauma, disease, infection, drug and alcohol abuse or reduced
blood flow to the brain. There are many types of amnesia. There is Anterograde, Retrograde, and
Transient global amnesia. They are varying in severity of the cases and they all are not to be trifled
with. The three kinds of Amnesia all differentiate in times the victims can remember the things they

to brain deterioration caused by Alzheimer s or other forms of dementia. Normally people lose

Research Paper On Wakesurfing
If you have a cabin or live on a lake, you most likely own a boat and enjoy fishing or watersports.
Watersports have been getting more and more popular with many different things to do behind a boat.
One of these popular water sports is wakesurfing. Wakesufing has become the fastest growing
watersport today.
There are many things to consider before you actually go out and wakesurf. First of all you need the
correct boat. You are gonna need an inboard boat to be able to wakesurf. An inboard boat has the
propeller tucked under the boat and is not visible. Never wakesurf behind an outboard or
outboard/inboard boat. These type of boats have the propeller behind the boat. This is really dangerous
because you could fall and get injured by the propeller.

Getting up is the easiest part of wakesurfing. It may seem difficult and very frustrating at first but once
you get the hang of things it will seem so easy. One thing about wakesurfing is that you can t give up.
Just like anything else you have to practice to get better. To get up on a wakesurf board you will need
to lay in the water with the board flat on the water. The nose of the board should be perpendicular to
you and the boat. You want to lay on your back and put the heels of your feet on the wakesurf board
with your toes pointed up. One heel goes on the very back of the board and the other goes in the
middle. Your legs should be shoulder width apart. Hold the handle of the rope and make sure the rope
is in between your legs. When you are situated, tell the boat driver to go. Once the rope tightens, keep
your arms straight and put some weight on your heels. This will flip the board up on your feet. You
also need to keep your knees up to your chest. This will help you pop up on the board. If you do all
this correctly the board should be on plane and you should be able to stand up. Once you are up you
should get the feel of the board by turning and digging into the

American Short Fiction And World Story By Alan Cheuse Essay
The article American Short Fiction and World Story by Alan Cheuse compares the old tales to the
modern short story. To start the article he talks about the old type of stories by famous writer Homer.
Here talks about how these books are written by the culture of the time. With that being said, he makes
the assumption that the old time tales are only applicable to the time in history they were written. This
is pretty obvious because in today s world we rarely see the events that happened in such ages. Next
after talking about the period before modernism he starts to contemplate the creation of the modern
short story. Here he makes a surprising claim, where he says that the modern story actually started in
the United States with the famous poet Edgar Allen Poe. This is surprising to many because in the
literature world most people associate modernism with European writers such as Chekov and Flaubert.
He actually states the this modern sense of writing started in North America, then went to Europe and
finally arrived to the res of the world including North America again. So we are left to ask, what is the
modern short story like? Well, Alan Cheuse compares the modern short story to the art story. He says
the perfectionists of it such as Hemmingway; owe their credit to writers like Poe because he in fact
started it. The art story is a story that is written and can be applicable to any situation within real life.
That is Alan Cheuse argument, and main ide of the whole article.

As the department stores industry was attracting fewer and fewer consumers, Macy s entered into the
declining industry life cycle model. The recession and the declining industry life cycle model are both
negatively affect the success of Macy s.
Although the external factors are not good, the internal factors are very good for Macy s. One such
factor was Macy s has the national recognition. Another positive factor is Macy s is really strong. It

Religion And Its Role Of A Peace Keeper By French...
Religion, as described by French Sociologist Émile Durkheim, connotes a unified system of beliefs
and practices, relative to sacred things (Durkheim, 1965). The word unified suggests religion plays the
role of a peace keeper, presenting individuals with a shared sense of understanding through the rituals,
as well as the belief in a higher power or God. Within a contemporary society, religion is arguably
playing a different role to that which it played during the early 20th century, a time throughout which
Durkheim s sociological influence and research was prominent. Contemporary, postmodern societies
are far more likely to use and exploit religion in a varying way, for many reasons technological
advances and media takeovers, not to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figures show that religious participation rates are indicative of a generational effect involving religion,
in which 48% of children tend to follow either their mother or (a little less often) their father into their
religion (Voas, 2005). In this case, the influence from parents is arguably the main factor leading them
into religion. Voas goes on to state that for children with no religious influence from parents, the
chance of the joining a religion is significantly lower. To me, this shows that the role of religion in
contemporary societies Is not necessarily about the individuals own needs, rather it stems from family
and continues across generations. However, as Voas (2005) then goes on to outline, with each
generation comes less religiosity. Certain factors overtake the importance of religion, and thus as a
new child is born, so is another consumer of capitalism. However, one downfall of Voas research is
that It is only based on contemporary society in Britain. This factor hinders otherwise strong stand
alone statistics, which would be far more comparable had other contemporary societies been
considered.
Postmodernism and interlinking theorists are important to bring into this discussion of religion. In
recent years, postmodern researchers such as Lyon and Davie have produced inquisitive and relevant
studies on religion within the modern world. Firstly, I will outline the theory of Jesus in Disneyland
and the McDonaldization of the Church

Mrs Sparsit is introduced to Hard Times seven chapters into the book. She spends her time scheming

1930s was the great depression as well. American writers responded to this problem with multiple
stories. Some wrote about the social change, and some the American suffrage. Others documented and
decided to try and understand the nation in crises, but with a bleak view of it. These stories had totally

King Creon Quotes On Pride
Saint Augustine once said, It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men
as angels (Saint Augustine). In the human brain, one s pride can quickly switch to arrogance. It was
King Creon s own pride, in Antigone, that lead to his downfall. Thinking he was superior to those
surrounding him, he ignored advice and criticism. He never let himself feel that humility and was
blinded of the fact that he was nothing but correct. It was the citizens under his ruling that were
thinking incorrectly. Antigone begins once King Creon takes power of the kingdom of Thebes,

Creon frequently made decisions out of arrogance and pride, such as deciding to not bury Polyneices
because it was what he thought was right. Never did he ask or listen to other s advice or critism
because he thought because he has a high status, that other s opinions were irrelevant. By not thinking
through his choices, he ultimately caused the death of everyone he loved and lost the respect of the
city he cared so much for. When making decisions, one must fully think through if the sacrifice is one
they are willing to take. This lesson repeats itself through every human s life. As a child learning to
not eat too much or they will be sick, teenagers face many temptations, leading to addiction and
reckless accidents, adults learn that if they do not work to their maximum potential, the bills will not
be paid. Thinking of the future should motivate others to make the best decision for themselves and

Mexican Cartels And Its Effects On America
Since the 1900 s Mexico has been run by several drug cartels, and leaders. These drug cartels have
been increasing their territory, murder tolls, and power. The cartels have started to take over the
government and Mexico has been becoming known as a lost state. Drug cartels are rising to power
because of the lack of government, and structure which also brings fear to all the regular citizens
throughout Mexico. Many citizens regularly get murdered for lying to the cartel, informing the
authorities about the cartels, or antagonizing the cartels. Although Mexican drug cartels, or drug
trafficking organizations, have existed for several decades, their influence has increased since the
demise of the Colombian Cali in the 1990s. Mexican drug cartels now dominate the wholesale illicit
drug market and in 2007 controlled 90% of the cocaine entering the United States. Arrests of key
cartel leaders, has led to increasing drug violence as cartels fight for control of the trafficking routes
into the United States. As violence levels rise so do tension levels. Mexico has always been involved
in illegal drug smuggling since the beginning. In the 1980 s Mexico started off aiding the Colombian
organizations in smuggling cocaine into the U.S. Mexico continued to work for the Colombian
organizations, and were paid in cash as well as percentages for some of the cocaine. The

Barbiturates Essay
The Inaba text describes the phenomenon of therapeutic index. Addiction to barbiturates can be
critical in terms of lethality as measured by the therapeutic index. Describe how this phenomenon
might lead to an accidental overdose. Why is this factor more critical with barbiturates than with other
classes of depressant drugs? Barbiturates are nonselective central nervous system (CNS) depressants,
capable of producing all degrees of depression from mild sedation and hypnosis to general anesthesia,
deep coma and death. The extent of CNS depression varies with the route of administration, dose and
pharmacokinetic characteristics of the particular barbiturate. Patient specific factors such as age,
physical or emotional state and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug is usually sold as a white powder, either in colorful capsules, tablets, and suppositories, or
dissolved in liquid for injection. Oral ingestion is usually preferred over injection, since results occur
quickly enough with the short acting capsules. Some barb freaks prefer the surging rush that comes
with mainlining, however, and ignore the possibilities of severe infection and abscess that may result
if the vein is missed and the drug is injected under the skin. Gangrene can occur if an artery is hit, and
may necessitate amputation of the affected part. Barbiturates affect the central nervous system by
depressing or inhibiting nerve signals in the brain, altering chemical balance and decreasing functions
of some organ systems. Heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and neurological action are all
depressed, and general relaxation of the skeletal muscles occurs. Effects of the drug increase
according to dosage, as body functions decelerate: from anxiety relief to sedation to hypnosis to
anesthesia to coma to death. Once ingested, the drug enters the bloodstream and is distributed
throughout the body, with the highest accumulation in fat deposits and organ tissues. Barbiturates are
ultimately metabolized and eliminated through the kidneys and liver. Rate of effect depends on how
quickly the drug = moves through the body and is metabolized. Laboratory tests can indicate the
presence of barbiturates in the body. Dosage, type of barbiturate,

Microbrewery Case Study
1. Should Ms. Applebee consider the collaboration with the local micro brewery? According to my
opinion, Ms. Applebee should not consider the collaboration with the local microbrewery because they
publicly denounced that prevention programs are ineffective and unnecessary in the past and they are
not reliable and responsible for prevention programs. Even though the Safe Communities Coalition
has lack funds it may have a good reputation since it is working with the prevention programs which
will be helpful for society, if this company makes a collaboration with this local micro brewery there
is a chance of losing the reputation and this may end with negative effect in society because people
may think that this company is not trustworthy and

Over Nutrition And Obesity In Australia
Though many are suffering from malnutrition and anorexia, Australia is becoming a major part of an
epidemic that is impacting mass number of people globally. Obesity. In every three Australians, 2 will
be obese. Obesity, though preventable, is very damaging to the society due to the health aspects and
societal impacts. The shocking figures are only expected to increase, unless there are immediate
changes applied to the current diet and lifestyle habits. Furthermore, as a chain affect, the risk of
developing other diseases increases drastically.
The effect of over nutrition and obesity on the human body
Obesity is mainly caused by poor diet, consisting of high calorie and/or over nutritious foods. Protein,

Liver produces bile, which helps to decompose lipid molecules, during digestion. It also produces
certain proteins and cholesterol that are needed in the blood plasma, and that carry fats around the
body. The liver stores iron, so if the liver is negatively impacted, it can lead to iron deficiency
(Stanford Children s Health 2015). Furthermore, it is vital is removing toxin from the body, so if the
liver can t function properly, the toxins will be left in the body, causing further damage. It also
regulates blood clotting, so without the liver, the body won t be able to stop bleeding in an injury, and
blood may clot in arteries, which will lead to heart attack (Stanford Children s Health

Changes In The 15th Amendment
I feel that the changes made in the 15th Amendment, which gave all citizens the right to vote
regardless of race or color, and the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote improved
our government, because after those amendments citizens who previously would not have had a
chance to vote, now could. The opinions of those citizens could now be expressed through their votes
thereby expanding the demographic of the United States democracy.
The natural born Citizen clause in Article 2, Section 1 of the United States Constitution has caused
much controversy and its meaning has been deeply argued. It may be in our best interest if the clause
were to be reworded to make the meaning of the clause clear so there can be no discrepancies, ending

The Pigman Compare And Contrast Essay In the stories, The Pigman by Paul Zindel, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, and The Snob by Morley Callaghan. relationship(s) can be defined as the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected or the state of being connected. We will elaborate on the following relationships between friendship, love, and wealth Firstly, friendship was the main thing in the Pigman Both teenagers, they enter a friendship with a local old man named Mr. Pignati, who is referred to as the Pigman not only for his name but in part because of a collection of miniature pig figurines that is his prized possession. • 3. My Primus Amor I was staring into her green eyes as I had many times before tonight and yet something was different about them in our dimly lit apartment that dark cloudy night. John I know you re on something, said Margret in a tearful fiery rage, just tell me what it is before I lose my temper! Okay, I said, I m on oxycodone. After I said that she left the room tears streaming from her face like a dam had broken. I attempted to chase after her but in my inebriated state I fell to the floor. As I lay there on the floor, I could not help but think of how Margret finally knew my problem. I flashed back to the night that I had taken my first oxy with rob and how instantly hooked I was to the substance. It made me feel so good; it took the edge off the world, took away my pain, and cancelled out everything I did not want to focus on in this cruel world. As the flash back ended I was once more staring back into Margret s eyes. Promise me you re going to stop these drugs, she said. As the cliché of the drug addict goes I said, I promise you Margret that I ll quit these not only for me but for you . Okay, she said, but no more chances after this one. Alright babe, this is the only chance I ll need, said as I pecked her on the check then drew her into a warm embrace. Her embrace felt like it was lacking the trust and warmth that had been there many times before. It is surprising then that I didn t see the next series of events coming. It had been several weeks since I had told ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William Blake s The Tyger William Blake s The Tyger and Tragedies William Blake wrote a set of poems in his collection Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Some of the poems in each collection were meant to be read together to show the difference between innocence and experience. Many people question why Blake wrote a two part series to his poems and what they could actually mean. Two specific poems, The Lamb and The Tyger, were meant to be read together. The Lamb is a part of Blake s Songs of Innocence and The Tyger is a part of the Songs of Experience collection. Blake went through a great deal of tragic events in his life between the writing and publishing of Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Dreadful occasions in William Blake s life may have influenced his poem The Tyger in the Songs of Experience collection. William Blake had some tragedies during the time period between Songs of Innocence (1789) and Songs of Experience (1794). Grevel Lindop stated, After 1789 Blake s work became more openly revolutionary, but also grimmer, the radiant vision of Innocence challenged by the fire and darkness of Experience (Lindop). Lindop explains that on July 14, 1789 the French Revolution broke out, and during the war William Blake seemed to take a more gruesome approach to his writings. Blake published his Songs of Innocence poems in 1789 and then after those poems, he wrote ghastly poems such as the poems in the Songs of Experience collection, The Revolutionary War, and ... The painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension of 51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In his masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself symbolizes something in the world. The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals, the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock is repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or more explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The rock that she is floating above represents moral principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the support of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of battle are about to descend upon the people like a downpour. The evil and horrors came from the sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what has been said. Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant, with its long legs and its great load, characterizes the worldly greed, which also differed from the traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like the woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to mangle and kill the woman. Henceforth, Dali s Caused by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were at least thirty car manufacturers in northeast Ohio during these years. • 7. Multilayered Structured Sun 2. The sun being a multilayered structure has 3 main layers. There is the Chromosphere, the Photosphere and the Corona. The photosphere is mainly the thinnest layer of gas where Earth receives the sunlight from and convection occurs right under the photosphere. The motion of hot materials rising while the cooler materials sink and this causes granulation. Granulation also known as the mottled appearance is the dark regions and that is how the energy inside the sun is transferred out. 7. When looking at the sun you would imagine that the surface would be boiling. But since the surface of the sun is actually pretty cool it causes very few hydrogen atoms to have electrons in the excited states. With the hydrogen atom providing a limited amount of excited electrons it would cause us not to see it on the spectral line. But unlike the hydrogen being abundant, calcium isn t. Calcium has enough electrons to transfer from the ground state and make an appearance on the spectral lines because it isn t abundant. 9. We don t have evidence that sunspots are magnetic but we do know that the sunspots are caused by the magnetic activity amongst the sun. Also with the understanding of the Zeeman effect we can conclude how strong the magnetic fields are that cause the sunspots. In conclusion we see that sunspots are in fact apart of the magnetic field in the layers of the suns atmosphere. 10. To fully understand the sun cycle many scientists use the Babcock model. • 8. Essay about Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe Edgar Allen Poe s Sonnet to Science is an example of how the structure of a poem can both aid and hinder the poet in communicating his or her thoughts. Usually, when the poet chooses to structure his poem in the form of a sonnet, he is, through his speaker, asking a question and reaching an answer. In this poem, however, the speaker, probably a young poet, questions Science but reaches no conclusion. Poe uses the English sonnet to communicate his youthful speaker s feelings of disdain for science and facts as opposed to mythology and fantasy, which inspire poetic musings. He implores Science as to why she must impose her dull realities on the hearts of poets like himself, squelching their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first time the speaker uses a personal pronoun is in line 13, at the turn of the sonnet. He states that Science, in addition to undoing the magic of classical mythology, has stolen his personal summer dream. The speaker is evidently a dreamer and poet disappointed by the damper that fact places on fancy. The tone throughout the poem is one of questioning, like most sonnets. However, in this particular poem, the speaker is disdainful to the subject, Science. He angrily accuses Science of preying like a vulture upon the poet s heart. The speaker seems to have personal resentment against Science, because he names himself as suffering a loss at the hands of fact and reality along with the mythological Diana, Hamadryad, and Naiad. In the first line of the poem, Science! true daughter of Old Time thou art!, the speaker appears to be respectful toward Science, and the reader might mistake this poem for a tribute to the subject. However, the tone immediately changes when he describes Science as having peering eyes in line 2. This is the reader s first indication that the speaker holds contempt for the daughter of Old Time. The speaker s descriptions of Science grow worse as he accuses her of dragging Diana from her car, the moon, and driving the Hamadryad from her wood, a tree which she is never supposed to leave. When the speaker finally mentions himself as a victim of Science s dull realities, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Triumphal Arch Of Pompey The Great Triumphal Arch of Pompey the Great Around 50 BCE three influential military and political leaders rose to power through an unofficial alliance. Through their alliance they forever changed how the Roman Republic and Senate were run, and the history of Rome. The first triumvirate included Julius Caesar, Pompeius Magnus, and Licinius Crassus. Pompey and Crassus were both very influential military and political leaders, having both served as consuls and roman generals. Together they allied with Caesar to move him up into consul status, as well as using his power to help push forward their political ideas and principles. Crassus and Pompey, who originally were enemies, continued to compete with one another trying to take over the triumvirate and be the sole roman consul. Eventually, with the event of several key deaths, the triumvirate fell apart. It soon became evident that only one person could rule, and the idea of three co rulers had failed. Shortly after, Pompey and Caesar split up their alliance after the Roman Senate and the population of Rome had different ideas about who should be the sole consul. The two consuls competed for leadership of the Roman state, which eventually lead to a civil war. Had Pompey won the civil war, Rome would have been forever changed with Pompey as leader. • 10. Comparison of Mesopotamia and the Indus Civilization Mesopotamia and Harappan societies have long been compared throughout the history of archaeology. Mesopotamia, also known as, the land between the rivers, was named for the triangular area between the Tigris and the Euphrates river, (Nov. 7 lecture). In recent use, it covers a broader area referring to most of what is now Iraq. This adds ancient Assyria and Babylonia to the scope of Mesopotamia (Schultz and Lavenda 1995:310). Parts of Mesopotamia were not inhabited at all until approximately 8000 BC when plants and animals were domesticated, bringing about an agricultural revolution. The regular planning of Indus towns and cities could only mean that each was built as a whole by an authority with absolute control (Hawkes 1973:273). Because of the uniformity over such a large area, it is almost guarunteed that the entire Indus area was a unified state. (Hawkes 1973:273). Your legs should be shoulder width apart. Hold the handle of the rope and make sure the rope is in between your legs. When you are situated, tell the boat driver to go. Once the rope tightens, keep your arms straight and put some weight on your heels. This will flip the board up on your feet. You also need to keep your knees up to your chest. • 29. American Short Fiction And World Story By Alan Cheuse Essay The article American Short Fiction and World Story by Alan Cheuse compares the old tales to the modern short story. To start the article he talks about the old type of stories by famous writer Homer. Here talks about how these books are written by the culture of the time. With that being said, he makes the assumption that the old time tales are only applicable to the time in history they were written. This is pretty obvious because in today s world we rarely see the events that happened in such ages. Next after talking about the period before modernism he starts to contemplate the creation of the modern short story. Here he makes a surprising claim, where he says that the modern story actually started in the United States with the famous poet Edgar Allen Poe. This is surprising to many because in the literature world most people associate modernism with European writers such as Chekov and Flaubert. He actually states the this modern sense of writing started in North America, then went to Europe and finally arrived to the res of the world including North America again. So we are left to ask, what is the modern short story like? Well, Alan Cheuse compares the modern short story to the art story. He says the perfectionists of it such as Hemmingway; owe their credit to writers like Poe because he in fact started it. The art story is a story that is written and can be applicable to any situation within real life. That is Alan Cheuse argument, and main ide of the whole article. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Religion And Its Role Of A Peace Keeper By French... Religion, as described by French Sociologist Émile Durkheim, connotes a unified system of beliefs and practices, relative to sacred things (Durkheim, 1965). The word unified suggests religion plays the role of a peace keeper, presenting individuals with a shared sense of understanding through the rituals, as well as the belief in a higher power or God. Within a contemporary society, religion is arguably playing a different role to that which it played during the early 20th century, a time throughout which Durkheim s sociological influence and research was prominent. Contemporary, postmodern societies are far more likely to use and exploit religion in a varying way, for many reasons technological advances and media takeovers, not to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figures show that religious participation rates are indicative of a generational effect involving religion, in which 48% of children tend to follow either their mother or (a little less often) their father into their religion (Voas, 2005). In this case, the influence from parents is arguably the main factor leading them into religion. Voas goes on to state that for children with no religious influence from parents, the chance of the joining a religion is significantly lower. To me, this shows that the role of religion in contemporary societies Is not necessarily about the individuals own needs, rather it stems from family and continues across generations. However, as Voas (2005) then goes on to outline, with each generation comes less religiosity. Certain factors overtake the importance of religion, and thus as a new child is born, so is another consumer of capitalism. However, one downfall of Voas research is that It is only based on contemporary society in Britain. This factor hinders otherwise strong stand alone statistics, which would be far more comparable had other contemporary societies been considered. Postmodernism and interlinking theorists are important to bring into this discussion of religion. In recent years, postmodern researchers such as Lyon and Davie have produced inquisitive and relevant studies on religion within the modern world.
