Suffering With Food Poisoning Caused By Salmonella Sp Essay
Scenario C
The patient in this scenario C was suffering with food poisoning caused by Salmonella sp.
Non typhoid Salmonella sp. causes inflammation of the digestive tract (enterocolitis). Common
symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, myalgia and watery non bloody diarrhoea usually appear
between 8 and 72 h after the ingestion of a pathogen (D Aoust, 1994). Human salmonellosis is self
limiting infection, nevertheless patients are advised to replace fluid and electrolytes (D Aoust, 1994).
Sometimes the progression of enterocolitis into local infections via blood stream can occur (D Aoust,
1994; D Aoust, 1991).
The infection process is very complex due to numerous virulent factors of the pathogen. In order to
enter the small intestine a bacterium must first overcome the antimicrobial activity of saliva enzyme,
lactoperoxidase and the low pH of digestive fluid in the (D Aoust, 1991). Cytotoxin present on the
bacterial cell wall disturb membrane integrity of the host cells which contribute to bacterium
attachment and to cell invasion (D Aoust, 1991). Salmonella attaches itself to the intestinal epithelial
cells by fimbriae. Pathogens enter epithelial cells by membrane bound vesicle, this process is known
as bacteria mediated endocytosis (D Aoust, 1991). Bacterium then divide and invade mucosa layer.
Diarrheagenic enterotoxin is released in the intestinal lumen and into the lumen of epithelial cells.
Effect of enterotoxin and local inflammation cause water and

Goldfish Synthesis Essay
Discussion Report The change in temperature was effective in altering the breathing rates of the
goldfish. As the temperature decrease from 20 degrees to 10 degrees, the average number of
respiration also decreased from 106 to 44 breaths per minutes. The null hypothesis, that the change in
temperature has no effect on the respiration per minute of a goldfish. The null hypothesis can be
rejected because of the temperature of the water as a direct effect on the respirations of a goldfish. The
results give support for an alternative hypothesis. A goldfish is an ectotherm which means the fish s
body temperature depends mainly on the environmental temperature (White and Campo 2013).
However, there were many outside factors which made the experiment

Sir Frederick Hopkins Research Paper
Sir Frederick Hopkins This research paper is on someone who you have probably never have heard of.
His name is Sir Frederick Hopkins. He was a major scientist in the past. He came up with the idea of
vitamins and many other big discoveries in science. In this paper, you will read about his early life,
contribution to the biological community, his educational background, the many awards he had and
what other scientist s` were helping him with his research at the time. To begin, Sir Frederick Hopkins
was born on June 20th, 1861 in Eastbourne England (Biographical). At the very beginning of his life
he grew up with both parents, his father was a bookseller and was very interested in science. When Sir
Frederick Hopkins was an infant his father died and throughout the rest of his life Frederick grew up
with this widowed mother, and his unmarried uncle (Hopkins, Frederick). Once Hopkins got older he
attended the city of London School. He was an excellent schoolboy (Biographical). He showed
interest in science very quickly once he received an old microscope that his dad had. ... Show more

Samuel Slater s Views Of The Industrial Revolution
The North and the South stood as two distinct regions during the antebellum period in America. The
North and the South were rapidly diverging in all aspects: cultural, economic, and technological. The
Northern industrial sector was modernizing the North, and the economy was starting to become more
dependent upon manufacturing. Culturally, the Women s Rights movement was advancing as more
and more women fought against the Cult of Domesticity. Women entered the man s sphere and began
to work in factories. In the South cotton became the cash crop and slavery was an integral part of their
economy and culture. The views propounded by Southern elites of their home region and its way of
life did not resemble those held by Northern observers of the ... Show more content on

The South considered agriculture, especially the production of cotton, to be the crux of their economy.
The South was producing half of the world s cotton. Sprawling estates and plantations with hundreds
of slaves running them dotted the southern region. Eli Whitney s cotton gin made cotton production
easier, faster, and it revived the industry once again. Soon, tons of cotton was being traded in foreign
countries and in the North. Cotton was a fast cash business, but it ruined the soil, leaving the
plantation owners to constantly be looking for new land. In little to no time, the South had become a
one crop economy with everything becoming dependent on cotton sales, which were dependent on
other factors such as demand for cotton goods. One of the most lucrative, horrifying, and large
businesses was the slave trade. Many Southern whites considered slavery a necessity for their
economy. The South was able to produce these enormous amounts of cotton because of the manual
labor provided by slaves. In the beginning, during the era of George Washington and Thomas
Jefferson, slavery was considered a necessary evil. However, views of slavery were rapidly changing
and by the Jacksonian era, many Southerners saw no other option than slavery. William Harper, a
jurist in South Carolina, ventured to say, The cultivation... of great staple crops cannot be

B2b And B2b Business Activities
Business to Consumer or B2C, electronic business activities that focus on retail transactions. An
example of a B2C company would be Starbucks. Business to Business or B2B, companies doing
direct business with each other instead of having consumers involved. A great example of a B2B
company would be the Intel Corporation. The Intel Corporation is an American Global technology
company, whom headquarters is located in Santa Clara, California. The overall marketing goal for
both B2B and B2C companies is the same, increase the profit margin, but the marketing strategies of
the two types of companies will differ based on their company s needs. Both B2C companies and B2B
companies have similar qualities when it comes to their marketing plan. Both types of companies
believe in having a strong brand and having a strong positive image of their companies. However, the
companies will differ when it comes to the reasons why they feel that having a strong brand will be
important to the company. The B2C companies need to have a strong brand in order to maintain and
grow the amount of consumers and costumers they have by matching the brand of their known
products. Individual consumers can become attached to a certain company solely based on their brand.
When it comes to B2B companies having a strong brand will only help other companies consider
rather or not to make the purchase from Intel but the ultimate decision comes down to many other
business factors including how Intel will look

Difference Between Children Literature And Children s...
2.2 Theoretical Orientation
2.2.1 Children Literature
Children s literature has been used a lot as a useful and critical material in teaching reading. According
to Rebecca (2010) Children s Literature as a concept is defined as literature exclusively about
children. Children s literature refers mainly to stories, poetry, rhymes, folk tales, drama, exclusively
created for children such as infants, toddlers and the young people as target audience. But to look
deeper, because children s experiences, knowledge and interests are limited, their literature differs
from adult but only in degree not in kind. Children s literature is a rich resource for vocabulary
development that can be the strong fundamental for EFL learner to acquire functional English. For
decades, research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader applies many strategies to reconstruct the meaning that the author is assumed to have
intended. The reader does this by comparing information in the text to his or her background
knowledge and prior experience Stated Mikulecky in 2008
Teaching reading is one of the critical parts of teaching language. Through reading, the teacher role is
to guide student how to comprehend written language so that the student can get the idea and share
their thought to other easily. Byrnes (1998) stated that reading is an interactive process that goes on
between the reader and the text, resulting in comprehension. The text presents letters, words,
sentences, and paragraphs that encode meaning. The reader uses knowledge, skills, and strategies to
determine what that meaning is. Before teaching reading, it is necessary for teacher to meet some
requirements mentioned before. Teacher also has to be completely understood and choose the effective
method and technique as well as preparing the decent reading material. Whilst also considering the
student who has English as a foreign language and student s language

Legalizing Concealed Weapons May Deter Crime Essay
Legalizing Concealed Weapons May Deter Crime
A concealed weapon is a firearm hidden on a person. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that laws that
forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit
crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather
to encourage than to prevent homicides for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence
than an armed man (Lee 147). In Florida, 315,000 permits had been issued to citizens for concealed
weapons by December 31, 1995. Only five have been revoked because the permit holder committed a
violent crime with a gun ( Kopel 129).
Many crimes could have been avoided if you could carry a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They estimate that each year in the United States there are about 2.2 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses
by civilians (Kleck 112).
Some common arguments are that it is more dangerous to have a gun in the house than to go unarmed.
They say that if you confront an armed bugler in your house you are more likely to be harmed if you
show force than if you don t. Another argument is that gun makers should know that their products
might be used in a crime and should be liable if they are used to hurt someone. Anything can be
wrongfully used. Cars, guns, hammers, ice picks, computers the list just keeps going. Only the person
using the tool is responsible for how it s used.
Excessive gun control has an opposite effect on crime rates. Data from Dr. Gary Kleck, a Florida State
University Criminologist, suggests that total ban on handgun possession increases crime rates.
Kennesaw, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, passed a city gun ordinance in 1982 that requires heads of
households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes. During the law s first
years, crimes against people, including homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and
residential burglary, plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, then dropped another 45 percent in
1983 compared to 1982.
Some of Colorado s handgun laws state that it is unlawful for any person under 18 to possess a
handgun, and it is unlawful to provide or permit a juvenile to posses a handgun.

Lab Report 2 A. Coughran 4/19/17
Objective:
The objective in Lab 2 is to experiment with the relationship between current, force, and length of a
conductor wire that has a current. This will be tested with magnets to create a magnetic field.
Theory:
Equation 1 below shows the relationship of force (F), current (i), length (L), magnetic field (B), and
angle (Ɵ) for a current carrying wire. In this experiment, the angle between the wire and the magnets
is 90⁰. This means that sinƟ=1 and can be eliminated.
F=iLBsinƟ Equation 1
Procedure:
In this experiment, three different current loops ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scale was zeroed before any data collection. Next, the current was raised slowly to 2A in 0.25A
0.5A increments, depending on the current loop. The direction of the current was reversed and tested
in the same manner, which was represented as negative current values in Excel. For each increment,
the mass value on the scale was recorded to determine the relationship between current and mass in a
magnetic field. Tables of this data are shown below for each different current loop.
Data:
Analysis:
1. For each current loop, the plot of force vs. mass is listed below each corresponding data table. The
slope for the experimental magnetic field (B) is shown in each of these plots.
2. The standard deviations of the magnetic field (B) values for each current loop are shown above in
the data section at the bottom of each table. These values were relatively small with values ranging
between 1 and 5. The magnetic field data was very consistent for each increment of mass and current
and showed little error.
4. The Right Hand Rule is followed by the above data in that the magnetic field can be calculated as a
linear function of force and current (a sketch of this is shown below). When the direction of the
current (i) was changed, the force (F) values remained consistent and linear, but in the opposite
direction. This is evident from the data of

Analyzing Imogen Heap s Song Clean
The song Clean, written by Taylor Swift and produced by Imogen Heap is a pop song that actually has
a deep meaning. The secret meaning of this song is She lost him, but she found herself and somehow
that was everything. This secret meaning gives me a hint of what type of song Clean is. This song is
about going through something hard in life, it could be a bad relationship or the loss of someone
loved, it could be addiction or even depression, and finally getting through it. Clean is a song anyone
can relate to. This song is about finally getting over something that has been haunting you for a long
time, and when you are finally over it, you feel clean. For Taylor, this song was about getting over a
relationship where there was a lot of struggle, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think this is really relatable because most people that are struggling tend to hide their emotions, and
do not tend to open up, or ask for help, but at the same time they want people to notice, they want
help. I guess when you are really in a bad place and really struggling you feel like screaming as loud
as you can, but no one can hear you, therefore no one is going to be able to help you. A part of the
bridge goes like just because you re clean don t mean you don t miss it I think this specific line in this
song is so realistic. Even when you re clean, moved on, over it, there are going to be times when you
are going to miss it, times when you will want to go back to that situation, and I think that is a normal
thing to experience. Throughout the song Swift is sure of herself and her decision, she knows she is
better off since she got past that, and this part of the song she shows that just because she is over that
situation, it does not means she does not miss the person and the good times. A lot of people can relate
to these specific lyrics, like for example, a drug addict, a drunk, a self harmer, just because you are not
doing those things right now, it does not means you still don t think about doing them every single
day, it does not means you don t miss it. The song follows with ten months older, I won t give in, now

Why Terror Attacks Occur
Terror attacks are very awful and sadly occur way too often in our world. So one might ask why do
these keep happening and why would someone commit these horrifying crimes. Just this year we have
experienced eleven serious terror attacks, three of them happening in the United States , and eight
more throughout europe. In my opinion the three main reasons why Terror attacks occur are; Religion,
race, and hatred
The first topic I will be talking about and reasonings is religion. Religion is often the most common
form of terror attack but is also the oldest form. Religious terrorism is terrorism carried out based on
motivations and goals that have a predominantly religious character or influence. Religious terror
attacks has been occurring since before the bible most popular was the fight of the crusades against the
muslims. Nowadays it is mostly consisting of groups like ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) why
do they do it for this reason? I can t speak for them but I believe is that they want everyone to believe
in what their religious beliefs are.
Next would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hate comes from a lot of places and the hate that is toward a certain group or people can be countless
of reasons. Some examples that we had this year is the gay nightclub shooting where a man attacked
an Orlando gay nightclub, killing 50 people, this of course being a hate towards gays and an attack at
their community. Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS on a 911 call, in one of the worst mass shootings
in U.S. history, and the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. Then there is a type of hate like
though hate doesn t have to exactly be at a certain person or belief, everything that a terrorist does or
when a terror attack occurs is hate, the hate that is inside them to commit and go through with these
events is

Prospero And Ariel s Relationship Quotes
For Ariel, he has Prospero s name engraved in his heart to signify that Ariel belongs to Prospero and
must do his bidding. The character also has a backbone made from gold chains to demonstrate that
Ariel is Prospero s personal slave, but is trying to get freedom, he is close to his goal as gold is a weak
metal that can be broken easily. Within the character s eyes, bird is written inside to signify the
character s ultimate desire to be free in the wild just as how birds can fly freely. Ariel also stands on

Prospero states, Why, that s my dainty Ariel. I shall miss thee, [but] yet thou shalt have freedom. So,
so, so. To the king s ship, invisible as thou art. The quote takes up the final words of Prospero to Ariel
in that Ariel has gained freedom, which has been the character s ultimate goal throughout the play.
Then in Act 4, Scene 1, Ariel sates, Before you can say Come and Go, And breathe twice and cry So,
so! Each one, tripping on his toe, will be here with mop and mow. Do you love me, master, no? Ariel
is wanting his master s approval stating that he is loyal person who wants to be trusted, thus showing
his character. For Caliban, his main flaw can be stated by Prospero in Act 1, Scene 2 in which Caliban
is called, Thou liest, malignant thing! Hast thou forgot. The foul witch Sycorax, who with age and
envy. Was grown into a hoop? Hast thou forgot her? This shows the Caliban has been lying about his
position in the island, this is a part of his evil properties that composes him to do anything for island s
ownership. However, Caliban still follows Prospero s rule due to his magic as stated in Act 1, Scene 2
in which he states, No, pray thee. (aside) I must obey. His art is of such power. It would control my
dam s god. Setebos, And make a vassal of him. The quote signifies that he afraid of his master, so that

important life skills like learning to be independent. Parents who encourage their kids to work are

there can be no money wasting when the balance of our economy is at hand. Your child can learn
many important life skills if you push them to work for a goal. The will learn to be independent
because when they turn 18 there will be no one to hand them money. They will need to learn how to
spend their money wisely and work for all their rights. Receiving money is a privilege not a right and
they need to prove themselves. By doing this you child is learning not to rely on the parents for

themselves and work for their allowance. Parents who hand money away to their kids are damaging
their mental perspective on life. However, if they encourage their kids to strive for something the child

How Did Steve Jobs Embodies The American Dream
The American Dream The American Dream to me is starting out just average and accomplishing
something huge later in life. One person who fits my definition of the American Dream is Steve Jobs.
Steve built the first Apple computer in his garage so that shows he was just average when he started, it
also shows he was very focused because he didn t need a fancy place to be able to do his work he just

2.1 Energy Systems
In the U.S., the Government made a study published in 2016 that 40% of total US energy consumption
was consumed by residential and commercial properties (U.S. Department of Energy, 2017). The
below notes the major building services that consume the most energy. For New York to meet the
greenhouse gas requirements by 2050, a reduction of 80%, they imposed regulations (Halper, 2017).
This is outlined below.
To ensure that the skyscraper met the LEEDS rating system standards, multiple services and

Replacing the standard light bulb to either a CFL (Compact Florescent Lamps) or LEDs, can save
approximately 65% to 80% on energy in comparison with the average light bulb. The bulb lives are
increased with CFL being 10,000 hours and LED being 25,000 hours. (U.S. Department of Energy,
2017). When purchasing light bulbs for an office situation there are rules and regulations to meet so
the lighting is appropriate for a work environment.
To achieve the LEED rating for lighting, contributes 23 points towards the total LEEDS rating, the
New York skyscraper must only provide lighting to areas which are in use at the time; use natural
lighting where possible; use sustainable light fittings; use reflective lighting; and use control lighting
(DiLouie, 2009). These are only to name a few.
To meet these guidelines the Bank of America in New York has reduced the overall use of electric
lighting by 25%. This is by maximising natural light by installing windows which are approximately
2.9 metres tall (floor to ceiling). The windows are made from low iron soda lime . This product can be

hydroelectric power in order to power steel factories. The Ruhr valley was the fifth largest urban area
in Europe and was known for the mining and steel industry.
The idea of operation Chastise came from Barnes Willis who decided to invent a bomb that could take

The optimum time to attack the dams was in the spring when the reservoirs were full. This meant that
when the approval for the mission came through it left very little time for Barnes Willis and his team
to design the weapons for the mission. The plans for the modification of the aircrafts and weapons
took place only 11 months before the actual raid.
The Aircrafts were modified so they could fly 100 feet from the water surface. This meant much of the
internal armour was removed, as was a mid upper machinegun in order to reduce weight. The bomb
was such an odd shape that the bomb bay doors were removed in order to fit the bomb itself as well as
an auxiliary motor. The bomb was hung below the fuselage of the aircraft and mounted on two
crutches. Before the dropping of the bomb, it was spun by an auxiliary motor, which enabled the bomb
to skim along the water surface.
Intensive training began for the mission, not only training to fly at an altitude of 60 ft from the surface
and at a speed of 250 mph, but also training in pitch black conditions. There were many technical
issues to be solved, including how far from the target the aircraft had to be in order to drop the bomb
plus its height and the speed. The squadron received a delivery of 13 bombs on the 15th may , 1943.
They also had their final training on the same day. The squadron was soon briefed by Gibson and
Wallis and was divided into 3 main groups which were as

Add one more cup of water to the large container (making two and one half cups total) and stir to

It may take several (five to 10) minutes of stirring, so you may need to be patient. Why do you think it

Lower-Class Myth Summary
Cedric Johnson examines and rejects the concept of extraordinary, myth under the class that was
pivotal to the defeat of the welfare state in the United States, particularly influential in shaping a
market oriented reconstruction of New Orleans. Moynihan believes that black poverty is rooted in
culture rather than economic structures that affect the working class in general and has cast a long
shadow over the number of Americans who think of inequality. Johnson examines how the spread of
conservative ideology has affected the working lives of the new Europeans. In addition, he briefly
reviews the Cold War origins of the lower class myth, the belief that chronic urban poverty is the
result of a distinct and different culture of the poor. Despite

Jacob s Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl
In the beginning of the story, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Jacobs illustrates the importance of
the family relationship. The description of the attachment Linda has with her parents as a child is
displayed to accentuate, Linda having dignity in herself, for she never knew she was a slave. Linda is
not receptive of accepting that she is property to another person. As a result, she had a different
outlook on life and much was expected of her by her family. Seeing that, the unveiling of Jacob s
audience develops more in depth for women, with an appeal to women ideal of true womanhood.

Cosmetic Surgery is a Worldwide Epidemic Essay
Everywhere you look; from billboards to TV the effects of plastic surgery have left its mark. In fact, a
couple of weeks ago, a famous music icon passed, and for a whole week all the media did was talk
about the plastic surgery done to his face. These days people are having rhinoplasty, liposuction,
tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast augmentation. Science is making it easier to
change the appearance of ones self. This brings me to believe, cosmetic surgery is an epidemic that
has affected the whole world.
A while back on a popular morning show, the host was interviewing a guest star. Then the host brings
up that the guest star has had a breast augmentation. Then the guest star looks at him, and says,

Adults with big money have been the ones affected the most with these celebrity trends. However,
teenager girls have been affected more than they should. Instead of a parent telling the teenager they
look beautiful, no matter how many minor imperfections they have. Most parents are shockingly
giving their teenagers liposuction as birthday presents. Instead of loosing weight in a healthy way with
diet and exercise, these teens are going under anesthesia. Most teenagers after the surgery have scars
left on their body, which never heal. In today s world, many people are confused about their gender.
This has led numerous people to plastic surgery. A countless number of them feel the only way to truly
be themselves is through getting a sex transformation. Even though many of them get the surgery on
the down low, the effects from the surgery eventually come to light. On the Jerry Springer show, a
number of episodes involved the audience guessing what the gender of the person was before they
underwent surgery. It s sad to say, that the majority of the women on the show were originally men.
The expenses of buying a whole new lifestyle, the emotional drainage they are likely to face, and the
periods of physical pain in hormonal change all are factors they deal with after plastic surgery.
Whether broadcasted through media or magazines plastic surgery interest everyone, I truly believe
Hollywood is addicted to it. I believe that the media projects images

Women in Latin America during the Colonization The perception of inequality was evident in the

Anne Sexton Cinderella
Anne Sexton s archetypal poem Cinderella , published in 1971, examines the classic Grimm s fairy
tale. At this point in time, Disney s Cinderella had been around for over twenty years (Sexton,
Cinderella). There is a stark contrast between the two works especially in their plot, characterization,
and tone. Cinderella the poem and Cinderella the movie tell the same general story, despite the many
differences among the details in the plot. An unfortunate girl s parents die leaving her to be raised by
an evil stepmother with her two daughters, working almost like a servant in the house. Although her
stepmother forbids it, Cinderella attends the prince s ball with the help of a magical being. The prince
falls madly in love with Cinderella, and when she leaves, he attempts to find her by comparing the

By comparing Cinderella to Al Jolson, a comedian who painted himself black and made fun of African
Americans, Sexton might be trying to lead the audience to believe that Cinderella is silly or offensive
character. Sexton also compares her to a gospel singer as she begs her mother s grave to send her to
the prince s ball. The commentary Sexton offers on the large size of the dress that the tiny dove drops
like an egg could be used to mock Cinderella s wish, adding to the negative characterization (Sexton
1012). On the other hand, the movie develops Cinderella by appealing to the viewer s empathy as it
shows her mistreatment. Rather than begging to go to a ball Cinderella makes her own dress, and
when her stepmother destroys it, a fairy godmother comes to her to replace it. This lends to an overall
more positive characterization of Cinderella.
In conclusion, Anne Sexton s poem has a negative tone and characterization of Cinderella compared to
the Disney film. These differences are made apparent in the differences in plot between the two

My Characteristics Of Myself
Normality is a paved road. It s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it. Van Gogh
Multiple characteristics of myself that have throughout my life have shaped me into the person that I
am today. One of them is my intelligence which, while not on some ridiculously high level, is
something that I have grown to value as I considered myself a person of great perception, being a
young man who appreciates logic and mathematical thinking, possesses a desire to look for the hidden
truth behind webs of contradictions/inconsistencies, love analyzing details and piecing together
information, as well as using creativity to solve problems and puzzles. Another trait of mine that is the
main focus of this essay is none other my eccentricity, which may be correlated to my intelligence.
I m what some have labeled me as a weirdo , which I ve learned has both positive and negative
connotations, and usually the negative connotation applied to me. I m an introverted and quiet person
who, although doesn t mind socializing a bit from time to time with people that I m comfortable with,
prefers to be by himself and do his own thing. When I am interacting with others, which is not a usual
thing, I come off as awkward and uncomfortable. Even by my loneself I m still perform eccentric
habits and quirky movements. Always bottling up my complex emotions and deep thoughts, I ve faced
hardships in expressing them to others in a way that can being understood. The only situation where I
feel like I can truly express myself to others is through texting, in other words not face to face (I m a
textrovert). In addition, I m what I considered myself as a nefelibata, a term most people don t know
the meaning of: a cloud walker or one who lives in the cloud of their own imagination or dreams. My
mind spend most of its time wandering around in the land of . not abiding by the precepts of society.
In fact, regardless of how I depict myself to others, anyone who observe my actions can see the truth
as plain as day; I m nothing more than an unconventional, unorthodox person. Of course, not everyone
would like an outlandish person such as myself, and soon did I also dislike a part of myself.
The notion that I was something bizarre and

Competitive Advantage Essay
Corporate Strategy
Sources of competitive advantage rarely yield added value that can be sustained over time.
The following essay is going to attempt to assess the above proposition and try to find if it is possible
to add value continually over a period of time. I will first discuss what competitive advantage is and
what it means to a firm. Then I will explain the sources of competitive advantage and how the
distinctive capabilities of a firm allow it to sustain added value. The discussion is based on a number
of viewpoints from different authors who will be clearly indicated and acknowledged. I begin with
explaining what competitive advantage is.

Kay (1995) points out, Architecture depends on the ability of the firm to build and sustain long term
relationships...it is easier to sustain architecture than to set out to create it.
More than the other sources of competitive advantage, the sustainability of architecture rests on the
level of skills of senior mangers. The first major step for the managers is to recognize the nature of the
firm s architecture and the function it plays in the markets the firm serves. Kay argues that there are
two main types of distinctive capability based on architecture,. Firstly, the firm s architecture may
generate a flow of innovations which forms a sustainable advantage. Secondly, the architecture of the
firm may allow the firm to successfully adopt new technology sooner and more efficiently than it s
competitors.
The second primary distinctive capability is Reputation. This is the most important commercial
mechanism for conveying information to consumers. The process of building up a reputation can br
accelerated by staking a reputation which has been established in a related market. Once the firm s
reputation has been created, it will have an advantage competing for new customers and further
strengthening it s reputation. However, reputation is difficult and costly to establish and in order to

James Watson Critique
Another method that scientists do when they are researching is discussing and comparing your
experiment results or models with other scientists data or even your own to confirm or contradict your
idea. For example, in section 27, Watson and Crick finished building the next double helix DNA
structure model after a long wait for the metal bases that were required in order to continue
constructing it. In section 28, they found out that the data that both he and Rosy had supported the
structure that James and Francis had built. Rosy s idea that there had to be an outside backbone and
middle bases also worked hand in hand with the double helix model. By using others already existing
data, they were able to confirm that the model was strongly supported ... Show more content on

The very first man who is mentioned, is Francis Crick. In the beginning, Watson didn t know much
about crystallography and was unable to progress faster without the knowledge, so Crick taught him
about it. All throughout the adventure, Crick and Watson were constantly jamming their heads
together, working hard towards the discovery. This included gathering data, discussing theories with,
and even building model structures. Without Francis, the discovery of the structure of DNA wouldn t
have happened as soon as it did. Another important scientist mentioned is Maurice Wilkins. In the first
place, Wilkins was who inspired Watson to study DNA. When he presented his photograph of
crystallized DNA in Naples, that is what first caught Watson s attention and drew him to the topic.
Maurice was also someone who Watson and Crick shared their information and discussed theories
with. When Watson went to Maurice s lab to tell him about Linus Pauling s incorrect paper, Maurice
showed him the copies of X ray photographs that he had copied from Rosalind Franklin. Speaking of
Rosalind, she also played an important part in the discovery. She was Maurice Wilkins assistant in the
lab, someone who Maurice had gripes about because of her moodiness and seemingly stubborn
attitude. Despite this, no one can deny that her contribution was just as necessary as the other

Finding Vivian Maier Analysis
In the photograph is herself in the way fo glass reflection when she was in new York City. It could be

common lifestyle or vision. I watched Finding Vivian Maier , which makes me know that Maier was
scared of men, she always told the children to get away from men on the street. Also, when Model was

However, on the right side of the image is bright, which provides an idea of her life. It could be said
that even though she had no one to love, she still enjoying her life and proud of herself. The other idea
that I discovered in shadow and only half revealed is she might had dark personallity, who was
negatively thinking obsessed. I really like how Maier employed contrast as a compositional element in
this work. She uses black and white as a pictorial device to create a contrast in the work. As the lady in
the background is very bright, whereas the left side of Maier is very dark. She took this photograph at
a low level, which is not a critical aspect of the work. Also, using the shallow depth of field provides
the audience to concentrated on her, not the

Essay On Racial Disparities
Experiencing racial disparities can permit an increasing level of stress over the years, yet buffering
mechanisms can be used to decrease the impact of adverse experiences. Based on Brody et al. (2006)
study, results indicated that race related stress from allostatic load was not significant for youth with
high emotional support. Accessing emotional supportive networks of family and peers can help
readjust behavior and counterbalance cognitive trajectories that reduce anxiety and stress.
Another buffering tool can be offered from a parent or caregiver, by providing an informative
introduction of discrimination. Comprehension of societal variances allows children to obtain
cognitive skills, which they are able to build awareness that can help distinguish discriminatory
treatment and gain a greater perception of others cognition (Bynum et al. 2014). Also, understanding
one s environment may allow for more emotional control and self regulation (Mayas, 2006). Children

The Appointment By Aphra Behn
Aphra Behn s The Disappointment addresses three main conflicts regarding gender, power and
sexuality. Behn challenges the traditional gender roles accepted by the British society during the 17th
century; that men are always in a position of power, by making Cloris, her female character dominant
over the male character Lysander and giving her the authority. Behn further challenges the position of
men in being the dominant gender in the sexual sphere and discusses masculine identity and how it is
measured by the ability of men to successfully perform and satisfy women s sexual desires, and how
women take charge and be in control when men s perform poorly.
The poem begins with two lovers who are about to make love, and from the very beginning ... Show

Here, Cloris pulls her lover to her body and the poet uses the verb permits which implies that she is in
power to choose whether she wants to give Lysander her virginity or not and that she s not being
forced to do anything without her own desire. Behn expands the conflicts of gender dominance and
sexuality in the rest of the poem. The traditional gender roles are being overthrown when Lysander is
incapable of pleasing Cloris. Here, Behn is addressing the women dominance over men. Lysander s
masculinity is being questioned and, for this reason, he is feeling ashamed. In addition, Behn is using
religious language to support her claims But oh what envious gods conspire/ To snatch his power, yet
leave him the desire! (79,80). Here Behn is referring to Cloris as god and Lysander isn t satisfying her
sexual desires. The fact that his sexual performance is not fulfilling his lover s needs, Cloris is able to
take away her lover s power and make him feel insecure. In the next stanzas Lysander s impotence is
shown as the reason behind Cloris s empowerment and the purpose of Lysander s feelings of rage and
shame Now all the brisk and active fire / that should

Gallipoli Significance
The landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 is often considered the most important event of the Gallipoli
campaign of the First World War. Consequently, events and experiences that deserve equal or greater
recognition are disregarded.
The battle of Lone Pine was a fine display of courage. The attack was planned to draw the attention of
the Turks and support another attack with the intention of breaking the stalemate. Many soldiers of
different nationalities arrived in early August to support the cause (McAnulty, 4 5 August, 1915). The
attack commenced on August 6 when the Allied soldiers bombarded Turkish lines, resulting in fierce
hand to hand fighting. Soldiers from both sides lay dead on the ground, many in close proximity. The

  • 2. Suffering With Food Poisoning Caused By Salmonella Sp Essay Scenario C The patient in this scenario C was suffering with food poisoning caused by Salmonella sp. Non typhoid Salmonella sp. causes inflammation of the digestive tract (enterocolitis). Common symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, myalgia and watery non bloody diarrhoea usually appear between 8 and 72 h after the ingestion of a pathogen (D Aoust, 1994). Human salmonellosis is self limiting infection, nevertheless patients are advised to replace fluid and electrolytes (D Aoust, 1994). Sometimes the progression of enterocolitis into local infections via blood stream can occur (D Aoust, 1994; D Aoust, 1991). The infection process is very complex due to numerous virulent factors of the pathogen. In order to enter the small intestine a bacterium must first overcome the antimicrobial activity of saliva enzyme, lactoperoxidase and the low pH of digestive fluid in the (D Aoust, 1991). Cytotoxin present on the bacterial cell wall disturb membrane integrity of the host cells which contribute to bacterium attachment and to cell invasion (D Aoust, 1991). Salmonella attaches itself to the intestinal epithelial cells by fimbriae. Pathogens enter epithelial cells by membrane bound vesicle, this process is known as bacteria mediated endocytosis (D Aoust, 1991). Bacterium then divide and invade mucosa layer. Diarrheagenic enterotoxin is released in the intestinal lumen and into the lumen of epithelial cells. Effect of enterotoxin and local inflammation cause water and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Goldfish Synthesis Essay Discussion Report The change in temperature was effective in altering the breathing rates of the goldfish. As the temperature decrease from 20 degrees to 10 degrees, the average number of respiration also decreased from 106 to 44 breaths per minutes. The null hypothesis, that the change in temperature has no effect on the respiration per minute of a goldfish. The null hypothesis can be rejected because of the temperature of the water as a direct effect on the respirations of a goldfish. The results give support for an alternative hypothesis. A goldfish is an ectotherm which means the fish s body temperature depends mainly on the environmental temperature (White and Campo 2013). • 5. Samuel Slater s Views Of The Industrial Revolution The North and the South stood as two distinct regions during the antebellum period in America. The North and the South were rapidly diverging in all aspects: cultural, economic, and technological. The Northern industrial sector was modernizing the North, and the economy was starting to become more dependent upon manufacturing. Culturally, the Women s Rights movement was advancing as more and more women fought against the Cult of Domesticity. Women entered the man s sphere and began to work in factories. In the South cotton became the cash crop and slavery was an integral part of their economy and culture. The views propounded by Southern elites of their home region and its way of life did not resemble those held by Northern observers of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The South considered agriculture, especially the production of cotton, to be the crux of their economy. The South was producing half of the world s cotton. Sprawling estates and plantations with hundreds of slaves running them dotted the southern region. Eli Whitney s cotton gin made cotton production easier, faster, and it revived the industry once again. Soon, tons of cotton was being traded in foreign countries and in the North. Cotton was a fast cash business, but it ruined the soil, leaving the plantation owners to constantly be looking for new land. In little to no time, the South had become a one crop economy with everything becoming dependent on cotton sales, which were dependent on other factors such as demand for cotton goods. One of the most lucrative, horrifying, and large businesses was the slave trade. Many Southern whites considered slavery a necessity for their economy. The South was able to produce these enormous amounts of cotton because of the manual labor provided by slaves. In the beginning, during the era of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, slavery was considered a necessary evil. However, views of slavery were rapidly changing and by the Jacksonian era, many Southerners saw no other option than slavery. William Harper, a jurist in South Carolina, ventured to say, The cultivation... of great staple crops cannot be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. B2b And B2b Business Activities Business to Consumer or B2C, electronic business activities that focus on retail transactions. An example of a B2C company would be Starbucks. Business to Business or B2B, companies doing direct business with each other instead of having consumers involved. A great example of a B2B company would be the Intel Corporation. The Intel Corporation is an American Global technology company, whom headquarters is located in Santa Clara, California. The overall marketing goal for both B2B and B2C companies is the same, increase the profit margin, but the marketing strategies of the two types of companies will differ based on their company s needs. Both B2C companies and B2B companies have similar qualities when it comes to their marketing plan. Both types of companies believe in having a strong brand and having a strong positive image of their companies. However, the companies will differ when it comes to the reasons why they feel that having a strong brand will be important to the company. The B2C companies need to have a strong brand in order to maintain and grow the amount of consumers and costumers they have by matching the brand of their known products. Individual consumers can become attached to a certain company solely based on their brand. When it comes to B2B companies having a strong brand will only help other companies consider rather or not to make the purchase from Intel but the ultimate decision comes down to many other business factors including how Intel will look ... According to Rebecca (2010) Children s Literature as a concept is defined as literature exclusively about children. Children s literature refers mainly to stories, poetry, rhymes, folk tales, drama, exclusively created for children such as infants, toddlers and the young people as target audience. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man (Lee 147). Some common arguments are that it is more dangerous to have a gun in the house than to go unarmed. They say that if you confront an armed bugler in your house you are more likely to be harmed if you show force than if you don t. Another argument is that gun makers should know that their products might be used in a crime and should be liable if they are used to hurt someone. Anything can be wrongfully used. Cars, guns, hammers, ice picks, computers the list just keeps going. Only the person using the tool is responsible for how it s used. Excessive gun control has an opposite effect on crime rates. Data from Dr. Gary Kleck, a Florida State University Criminologist, suggests that total ban on handgun possession increases crime rates. Kennesaw, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, passed a city gun ordinance in 1982 that requires heads of households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes. During the law s first years, crimes against people, including homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and residential burglary, plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, then dropped another 45 percent in 1983 compared to 1982. Coughran 4/19/17 Objective: The objective in Lab 2 is to experiment with the relationship between current, force, and length of a conductor wire that has a current. This will be tested with magnets to create a magnetic field. Theory: Equation 1 below shows the relationship of force (F), current (i), length (L), magnetic field (B), and angle (Ɵ) for a current carrying wire. In this experiment, the angle between the wire and the magnets is 90⁰. This means that sinƟ=1 and can be eliminated. For each increment, the mass value on the scale was recorded to determine the relationship between current and mass in a magnetic field. Tables of this data are shown below for each different current loop. Data: Analysis: 1. For each current loop, the plot of force vs. mass is listed below each corresponding data table. The slope for the experimental magnetic field (B) is shown in each of these plots. 2. The standard deviations of the magnetic field (B) values for each current loop are shown above in the data section at the bottom of each table. These values were relatively small with values ranging between 1 and 5. The magnetic field data was very consistent for each increment of mass and current and showed little error. 4. The Right Hand Rule is followed by the above data in that the magnetic field can be calculated as a linear function of force and current (a sketch of this is shown below). When the direction of the current (i) was changed, the force (F) values remained consistent and linear, but in the opposite direction. This is evident from the data of

The secret meaning of this song is She lost him, but she found herself and somehow that was everything. This secret meaning gives me a hint of what type of song Clean is. This song is about going through something hard in life, it could be a bad relationship or the loss of someone loved, it could be addiction or even depression, and finally getting through it. Clean is a song anyone can relate to. This song is about finally getting over something that has been haunting you for a long time, and when you are finally over it, you feel clean. For Taylor, this song was about getting over a relationship where there was a lot of struggle, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think this is really relatable because most people that are struggling tend to hide their emotions, and do not tend to open up, or ask for help, but at the same time they want people to notice, they want help. I guess when you are really in a bad place and really struggling you feel like screaming as loud as you can, but no one can hear you, therefore no one is going to be able to help you. A part of the bridge goes like just because you re clean don t mean you don t miss it I think this specific line in this song is so realistic. Even when you re clean, moved on, over it, there are going to be times when you are going to miss it, times when you will want to go back to that situation, and I think that is a normal thing to experience. Throughout the song Swift is sure of herself and her decision, she knows she is better off since she got past that, and this part of the song she shows that just because she is over that situation, it does not means she does not miss the person and the good times. A lot of people can relate to these specific lyrics, like for example, a drug addict, a drunk, a self harmer, just because you are not doing those things right now, it does not means you still don t think about doing them every single day, it does not means you don t miss it. Just this year we have experienced eleven serious terror attacks, three of them happening in the United States , and eight more throughout europe. More than the other sources of competitive advantage, the sustainability of architecture rests on the level of skills of senior mangers. The first major step for the managers is to recognize the nature of the firm s architecture and the function it plays in the markets the firm serves. Kay argues that there are two main types of distinctive capability based on architecture,. Firstly, the firm s architecture may generate a flow of innovations which forms a sustainable advantage. Secondly, the architecture of the firm may allow the firm to successfully adopt new technology sooner and more efficiently than it s competitors. The second primary distinctive capability is Reputation. This is the most important commercial mechanism for conveying information to consumers. The process of building up a reputation can br accelerated by staking a reputation which has been established in a related market. Once the firm s reputation has been created, it will have an advantage competing for new customers and further strengthening it s reputation. However, reputation is difficult and costly to establish and in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. James Watson Critique Another method that scientists do when they are researching is discussing and comparing your experiment results or models with other scientists data or even your own to confirm or contradict your idea. For example, in section 27, Watson and Crick finished building the next double helix DNA structure model after a long wait for the metal bases that were required in order to continue constructing it. In section 28, they found out that the data that both he and Rosy had supported the structure that James and Francis had built. Rosy s idea that there had to be an outside backbone and middle bases also worked hand in hand with the double helix model. By using others already existing data, they were able to confirm that the model was strongly supported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very first man who is mentioned, is Francis Crick. In the beginning, Watson didn t know much about crystallography and was unable to progress faster without the knowledge, so Crick taught him about it. All throughout the adventure, Crick and Watson were constantly jamming their heads together, working hard towards the discovery. This included gathering data, discussing theories with, and even building model structures. Without Francis, the discovery of the structure of DNA wouldn t have happened as soon as it did. Another important scientist mentioned is Maurice Wilkins. In the first place, Wilkins was who inspired Watson to study DNA. When he presented his photograph of crystallized DNA in Naples, that is what first caught Watson s attention and drew him to the topic. Maurice was also someone who Watson and Crick shared their information and discussed theories with. When Watson went to Maurice s lab to tell him about Linus Pauling s incorrect paper, Maurice showed him the copies of X ray photographs that he had copied from Rosalind Franklin. Speaking of Rosalind, she also played an important part in the discovery. She was Maurice Wilkins assistant in the lab, someone who Maurice had gripes about because of her moodiness and seemingly stubborn attitude. Despite this, no one can deny that her contribution was just as necessary as the other scientists in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It could be said that her works were influenced by Lisette Model, a photographer in that era. There are many photographs of Maier and Model that have the similar style, such as the self portrait using of glass reflection and a close up of people photograph. However, I believe that maybe they have some common lifestyle or vision. I watched Finding Vivian Maier , which makes me know that Maier was scared of men, she always told the children to get away from men on the street. Also, when Model was a child, she was sexually molested by her father, a medical doctor and military man. These informations makes me believe that both of them might experienced the same situation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She might get a feeling of losing a part of her life and became an isolated. However, on the right side of the image is bright, which provides an idea of her life. It could be said that even though she had no one to love, she still enjoying her life and proud of herself. The other idea that I discovered in shadow and only half revealed is she might had dark personallity, who was negatively thinking obsessed. I really like how Maier employed contrast as a compositional element in this work. She uses black and white as a pictorial device to create a contrast in the work. As the lady in the background is very bright, whereas the left side of Maier is very dark. She took this photograph at a low level, which is not a critical aspect of the work. Also, using the shallow depth of field provides the audience to concentrated on her, not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Essay On Racial Disparities Experiencing racial disparities can permit an increasing level of stress over the years, yet buffering mechanisms can be used to decrease the impact of adverse experiences. Based on Brody et al. (2006) study, results indicated that race related stress from allostatic load was not significant for youth with high emotional support. Accessing emotional supportive networks of family and peers can help readjust behavior and counterbalance cognitive trajectories that reduce anxiety and stress. Another buffering tool can be offered from a parent or caregiver, by providing an informative introduction of discrimination. Comprehension of societal variances allows children to obtain cognitive skills, which they are able to build awareness that can help distinguish discriminatory treatment and gain a greater perception of others cognition (Bynum et al. 2014). Also, understanding one s environment may allow for more emotional control and self regulation (Mayas, 2006). Children can easily distinguish and be more aware their surrounds, in order to ... But, African American low income youth in urban communities has displayed to be substantially in jeopardy of being exposed to violence in their community compared to other populations in the United States (Stein et al. 2003). Furthermore, adolescents were more commonly exposed to community violence than younger children. Children tend to navigate close to home where a parent or caregivers are shadowing them. Nonetheless, adult supervision can be inconsistent and portray negative behaviors or influences in the home or daycare, which can influence a child through observation. Especially, if a child is unsupervised and/or positioned in an unstructured setting, he or she is more susceptible to violence (Goldner et al. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Appointment By Aphra Behn Aphra Behn s The Disappointment addresses three main conflicts regarding gender, power and sexuality. Behn challenges the traditional gender roles accepted by the British society during the 17th century; that men are always in a position of power, by making Cloris, her female character dominant over the male character Lysander and giving her the authority. Behn further challenges the position of men in being the dominant gender in the sexual sphere and discusses masculine identity and how it is measured by the ability of men to successfully perform and satisfy women s sexual desires, and how women take charge and be in control when men s perform poorly. The poem begins with two lovers who are about to make love, and from the very beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, Cloris pulls her lover to her body and the poet uses the verb permits which implies that she is in power to choose whether she wants to give Lysander her virginity or not and that she s not being forced to do anything without her own desire. Behn expands the conflicts of gender dominance and sexuality in the rest of the poem. The traditional gender roles are being overthrown when Lysander is incapable of pleasing Cloris. Here, Behn is addressing the women dominance over men. Lysander s masculinity is being questioned and, for this reason, he is feeling ashamed. In addition, Behn is using religious language to support her claims But oh what envious gods conspire/ To snatch his power, yet leave him the desire! (79,80). Here Behn is referring to Cloris as god and Lysander isn t satisfying her sexual desires. The fact that his sexual performance is not fulfilling his lover s needs, Cloris is able to take away her lover s power and make him feel insecure. In the next stanzas Lysander s impotence is shown as the reason behind Cloris s empowerment and the purpose of Lysander s feelings of rage and shame Now all the brisk and active fire / that should ... Employers are required to modify spaces to accommodate those with disabilities, such as installing ramps, unless the cost of doing so would cause undue hardship. They must also make other reasonable accommodations such as providing user friendly equipment and modifying training programs and schedules (Cascio Aquinis, 2011). The EEOC offers resources for employers to help them understand and comply with ADA laws (The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2008). • 36. Gallipoli Significance The landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 is often considered the most important event of the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War. Consequently, events and experiences that deserve equal or greater recognition are disregarded. The battle of Lone Pine was a fine display of courage. The attack was planned to draw the attention of the Turks and support another attack with the intention of breaking the stalemate. Many soldiers of different nationalities arrived in early August to support the cause (McAnulty, 4 5 August, 1915). The attack commenced on August 6 when the Allied soldiers bombarded Turkish lines, resulting in fierce hand to hand fighting. Soldiers from both sides lay dead on the ground, many in close proximity. They had expected a flat beach, but due to an incorrect landing position they instead found steep cliffs. The soldiers scurried to claim ground whilst enduring constant fire and shelling from the determined Turkish soldiers, with many losing their lives in the process. The Anzacs had drawn plans to claim a lot of ground, but instead captured a small portion of it. The poor execution of the landing caused the loss of 747 Anzacs on the first day, with 860 Australian deaths occurring within the first five days (AWM, 2016). These soldiers never truly received a chance to defend their country. Although this event marked the beginning of the Gallipoli campaign, there weren t many other reasons to claim it was ...
